WWHAT WUD THE CREEPS DO 4 HALLOWEEN I MUST KNOW

anon... yes i like this. general disclaimer this is tailored to my au !! stuff under cut

toby likes it, thinks its fun and stuff. he's not the type to dress up beyond like, maybe a jacket and a mask or whatever, but he'll go and buy(steal) stupid ass halloween decorations from spirit or the dollar store. there r several mini skeletons sitting around his cabin. he treats it like elf on the shelf, but. . . skeletons... def will sit around and watch scary movies with a bag of halloween candy . totally carves pumpkins with whoever will do it with him

tim wouldnt really want to do much cuz he's just tired, but he probably would put out a small little pumpkin and bowl of candy outside his door. he's in an apartment so he doesnt really get trick or treaters. will prob buy some candy after halloween so its on sale

brians so annoying omfg(lovingly) he'd buy a fake arm, blood, and wig and stick it in his trunk so it looks like an arm is sticking out. yall know what im talking about. him and tim share an apartment so he'd prob try to actually put something simple around it, like some plastic pumpkins, but nothing really big. he is also a grown man with no kids, so he doesnt find himself going all out for these things

natalie. ok i recently made it where she's either already a tattoo artist, or learning to be a tattoo artist or whatever, but i could see her and some coworkers setting up the shop all halloweeny. she's so fucking tall that they'd just call her over for all the spider web stuff. she thinks its fun and she likes halloween a lot so it's cool. she'd get a huge kick out of doing halloween tattoos during october too. goes and hangs out with toby/nina for it

nina goes to parties . she HAS to get a whole new costume for every party. its super wasteful but she doesnt care all that matters is shes sexy. every year without fail she is a sexy gothic vampire for one of the parties. she works at hot topic, BUT she'd absofuckinglutely get a second job at spirit halloween for october. she's a creepy galll... def sets her apartment up super cutely, brings toby and nat over so they can carve pumpkins with her, tries to dress them up, etc. tons of halloween posts on her social medias too LOL shes so cute

jeff would prob also go to more like... weirder ( ?) parties with creeps and scary people roaming around just doing crazy shit. warehouse shit. prob finds someone to bring home and kill. he thinks its fun, its easier to just go about his days looking the way he does, he loves scaring the fucking shit out of people. doesnt decorate or wear costumes though, says its cringe LMFAO. hates how hyped nina is about it

jane and mary would totally decorate, but in a much more.. ? elegant ? way. like those tall skinny candles, swap out their doormat for something halloween themed, really nicely done pumpkins for some reason. jane would want to host a cute little halloween dinner for uni friends. probably just gets simple costumes, like she'd put on a witch hat and black dress and thats all, but its cute. takes sally (and ben, if sally asks him to come) trick or treating.

sally draws tons of drawings, loves disney halloween marathons, paints on pumpkins(doesnt like the smell of gutting them), etc. she'd decorate with jane cuz she lives w her. she loves it so much but she still gets scared of the animatronic things at stores and stuff LOL. begs ben to trick or treat w her. really embarrassing for ben

ben wouldnt do much besides like. he'd get worse w his internet trolling (scaring the fucking shit out of teens on the internet), start doing more actual hauntings bc nobody will believe his victims during october which means slender wont find out he's doing it. he would not want to go trick or treating..but he'd go with sally with a pillow case and he'd try to awkwardly stand further back but the ppl at the door would always b like 'aw dont be shy come here!' LOL

jack doesnt celebrate it, his family didnt really celebrate it much when he was human so he doesnt do it now. he does get kinda sad during holiday season though, cuz of obvious reasons, but halloween isnt the strongest Pain for him

liu is so fucking miserable theres no way. jk he'd set out like, some pumpkins and maybe get one of those lights that project ghosts onto his garage, but he wouldnt want to go all out or do anything to the inside of his house. jeff really liked halloween when he was younger so its kinda like ouch but he's getting overit. i guess. . .

kate doesnt..celebrate anything........ but when she does occasionally visit the cabin, maybe for food or a shower, and she sees toby decorated, she'd be happy to see it. she's kinda unsettling to be around, but she'd sit down and watch a movie with him in silence. then bring a massive bag of candy to the mine w her w/o telling toby. he just had to cope

ann and lulu dont do anything in the hospital. they dont really have any concept of time........... or the resources to decorate... and they dont get any trick or treaters... cuz theyre...stuck in an abandoned hospital in the woods . . . yeah..

Finale of my Halloweeny drabbles with Joel!

31/10- trick or treating.

A/N: I love this trope with Joel where he falls in love with the babysitter so damn much. Also Sarah. Also Joel with slicked-back hair.

You crouched down on the purple rug, picking up jewels from the pot beside you and carefully attaching them to the girl in front of you, adding the finishing touches to her witch costume.

"You've put like eighty of those things on my face, is it done yet?" She groaned, despite having asked for the fancy gems and designs from you.

"There are only 14 on there, stop complaining."

"Okay, okay, I just wanna go already!" Sarah exclaimed, foot tapping furiously beneath her as she sat on the edge of her bed.

"Calm down, just 2 more." You said as you reached for another gem.

"One.. two.. and done." You grinned, standing up and clasping your hands together as you admired your handiwork. Swirls of different sized and shaped purple gems adorned her face, with a little eyeshadow - that took a lot of convincing for her father to allow it - and her hair done as best you could. Hair was never really your strong suit.

You had spent at least an hour getting supplies and trying to make the costume look as good as possible for her though, enjoying the task and finding it a good opportunity to grow your relationship with the girl.

You had been Sarah's babysitter for almost 3 years now, and you both loved eachother, and although she wouldn't admit it she thought of you as the maternal figure in her life. You were so caring and patient with her, good to both her and her dad, and a sweet person in general.

And although you were supposed to be just her babysitter, you found yourself coming round to their place for things even when Joel was home like dinners and movie nights etcetera. He appreciated you a lot, and knowing Sarah liked you so much made him like you a lot too.

"Okay, don't touch your costume too much! I'll go get your dad then we'll go." You told her before walking out of the room and knocking on his down the hall.

"Joel? She's ready.." You called from behind the door. He adjusted the bowtie on his much too extravagant costume before opening the door, immediately hiding his face behind one hand when he saw the look on your face.

"Oh my god. You went all out didn't you?" You teased, moving his hand away from his face and starting to scrutinize the outfit.

"So it's a vampire.." you began, as he nodded. "I like the hair." You grinned. He had actually brushed his hair for once, slicking it back with some gel. "Yeah. Makes me look stupid though." He shrugged as the two of you walked into Sarah's room so he could see the costume.

"What d'ya think?" She asked him, doing a 'creepy pose' and wiggling her eyebrows.

"I think..." He started, walking over to her before picking her up and spinning her around, making her squeal and swat at him playfully. "It looks super cool." He said, tickling her sides slightly and making her erupt into fits of laughter.

"Dad! Dad, you're gonna- mess up the makeup! We spent so long on it!"

"Okay, okay. You look amazin', babygirl." He grinned, kissing her forehead before setting her down again. Your heart melted at the sight of them, they had such a good relationship despite how much Joel had to work and the other many difficulties they came across in life, ones you knew about very well. Finance, family.. more specifically her mother. Your jaw clenched at the thought of her.

When Joel told you what she did to him, to both of them, you wanted to find that woman and make her realise the impact she made on his life.

She basically had the kid then decided it was too much, wanting to put her up for fucking adoption, leading to a huge argument with Joel. He couldn't just give her up like that. It had only been a few months and he already loved that little girl more than life itself. He'd do anything for her.

So that's what he did. After his ex-wife moved out, he did everything for Sarah every single day. Woke her up, brushed her teeth, changed her clothes, fed her breakfast, changed her clothes again when she got said breakfast all over them, took her to the park, watched corny kids shows with her, read her stories before putting her to bed then working so late his eyes stung from being open too long. He did everything he could to be the best parent ever for her, feeling like it was his fault her mother left and needing to make up for it.

Then things got busy. The contracting company was not exactly smooth sailing but he needed money. For her. He didn't care about his own wellbeing anymore, he could starve for all he cared as long as she was okay.

That's when he hired you, just over 3 years ago. And you were a blessing in more ways than one. Not only were you amazing at your job, but Sarah genuinely really liked you, loved you, and the way she'd talk about you made him so happy, hearing about all the things you did with her and for her. He knew that subconsciously she probably thought of you like a mother, and you acted like you were one with her; he honestly couldn't have wished for anyone better to be that for Sarah, and it made him more than just like you. He reckons he really fell in love with you when he came home to both of you asleep, she was in her bed all nice and tucked in whilst you were kneeling on the hard floor beside it, storybook slipping out of your hand and it was evident you were staying awake just for her, making sure she was fast asleep even though you were evidently just as tired as her. You put her first before yourself like he always did, showing him how much you cared for her, and the sight might have brought tears to his eyes.

Not only were you amazing with Sarah, but you were also really good to Joel, it was like you took care of him sometimes too. You'd leave him food, ask him how he was, make sure he was drinking water and sleeping properly, even bought him new clothes after teasing him about wearing the same 3 shirts in rotation but then noticing that he only had that many.

You were pulled from your thoughts when you felt Sarah tugging on the flaps of your pirate costume which you threw together at the last second; she had practically begged you and Joel to wear costumes too, so you had gone and bought one for him the day prior then realised you only had your old one from years ago, which got stained so you didn't wear it again until now.

"Yeah honey?" You said quickly, trying to seem less out of it.

"Let's go!" She beamed up at you, shaking her candy bucket around. "This is far too empty for my liking."

You chuckled at her comment before taking her hand and walking to the front door with the two of them.

"Let's go, Dracula." You teased, making Joel roll his eyes as he unlocked the door.

The three of you spent the night going around the neighbourhood, trick or treating and even visiting a haunted house - which was put together so badly even Sarah found it more funny than scary.

She was drifting off just as it got to 10pm, Joel picking her up and resting her head on his shoulder as he walked over to you as you were caught in a conversation with a neighbour who's daughter you were friends with.

"I think it's best we head home now, unless you wanna do some more trick or treatin'?" He teased with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, no. Let's go. Bye Mrs. Jones!"

"See ya sweetheart! Make sure you come 'round soon, maybe at Christmas?"

"Sounds good." You smiled, immediately grimacing once you'd turned around and walked away.

"Used to be friends with her kid and- shit happened so we aren't anymore. Her mom still thinks we're thick as thieves though." You explained to Joel.

"Shit happened?" He repeated questioningly.

"Yeah.. we knew eachother in highschool and stuff happened with boys. Yknow how it is."

"Boys suck. I hate 'em." He commented, making you laugh.

You rounded the corner and came to his front porch. He walked up the steps and you stood awkwardly at the bottom of them, shifting your weight from one foot to the other as you waited to say goodbye.

"What're ya standin' down there for?" He asked as he opened the door and walked in.

"I- I don't know actually." You mumbled, walking inside behind him and taking your shoes off as he walked upstairs to take Sarah to bed.

He came back downstairs as you took off the outer, more cumbersome layers of your costume.

"You gonna take your costume off or am I hanging with Dracula for the night?" You smirked as his hand came to the button of his cloak.

"Right, right." He got to work with taking off his costume, ridding himself of the cloak, fangs (yes, he actually wore plastic fangs for this), bowtie and waistcoat.

You walked up to him in a moment of bravery and started unbuttoning the outer shirt he wore, he had put an extra on since it was actually really cold this Halloween.

A comfortable silence filled the room as you finished with the shirt, moving to hand it to him before his hands gently came over yours.

"Are you okay?" He asked, having noticed when you kind of spaced out earlier thinking about the past few years with them. It made you wonder if there was anything more, ever would be, and you accidentally let your thoughts get a hold of you for too long.

"What do you mean?" You replied, acting like you didn't know exactly what he was talking about.

"Well earlier you sorta.. y'were starin' into space." He explained, taking the shirt from you and putting it on the arm of the couch.

"Well, I uh- was just thinking." You murmured. You thought it would be kind of weird to tell him you'd been thinking about his ex-wife and how much better you could've been for him, for both of them.

"Thinkin' 'bout what'?" He pressed, stepping a little closer to you.

"Just about us." You said in an even smaller voice. "The past few years have been really nice and.. I just-" you groaned, cutting yourself off and looking away as you realised how awkward you probably just made things.

He took a deep breath before speaking, trying to calm his nerves and telling himself this was a good idea.

"I really like you, darlin'. Love you, I guess I should say." He confessed, making your head almost snap from how quickly you looked back towards him, eyes widening.

"You do?"

"Yeah." He exhaled, one of his hands coming to cup your cheek as he didn't see any signs of discomfort coming from you.

You leaned into his touch slightly.

"I really like you too." You said as your hands rested on his chest, feeling his heartbeat erratically thumping inside.

He closed the distance between the two of you with a cautious, slow kiss against your lips as your hands slid up and moved to his hair, pulling him closer as you deepened the kiss.

When you broke apart, you panted heavily as you looked into his eyes.

"You taste like chocolate." You murmured, making him let out a low chuckle.

"Had to take some from the bucket. Dad tax." He reasoned, making you nod in agreement.

You kissed him again, savouring the taste of chocolate and him.

"Tastes good."

"So do you." He smirked, hand still resting on the side of your face.

"Y'wanna stay over tonight?" He asked as his thumb rubbed circles on your cheekbone.

"Yeah." You breathed, unable to stop a grin from stretching across your face before you leaned in and kissed him one more time.

"Happy Halloween." He murmured.

"Happy Halloween, Joel."

Time to Play Curios: Albrecht Manor

When it's Halloween, I like to play creepy Halloweenie games. Ok, well I might like spooky games all year-round, but for the horror season it's time to pull out all stops. When I received this package in the mail last month, I knew it'd be perfect for the weekend before Halloween:

Curios: Albrecht Manor is "an epistolary horror mystery experience" by Seb Pines, the first in the new Curios series from Good Luck Press. There is no single person who runs the game. No one knows what they're about to open, other than what you see on the blurb.

The notion of the game is that the players are "Researchers" of "The Archive" who receive evidence and ephemera leftover after the appearance of supernatural phenomena. The details on the Archive is sparse, but you an unbothered dayjob vibe oozes from the tone. This manila envelope is all you're going to get, and your job is to make some declarative statements by the end of the research.

It's a fun space to play. I could see the experience of play spanning the spectrum between a total LARP and completely player-facing. For our game, we were closer to the player-facing end of that spectrum, and had a fabulous evening.

What's inside?

The Albrecht Manor manila envelope contains 11 letters and two postcards, along with a short mailing notice and the "Archive" report card. Like any good horror story, the letters start off tame with bits of weird, yet quickly start including photos, newspaper snippets, blueprints and administrative papers.

From tearing open the letters to the difference in paper textures, styles and handwritten bits were thrilling to handle. We were surprised how each piece, and sometimes innocuous details at first, came back to have us rifling back through what we'd read before.

Play Experience

With the stack of letters in the center of the table, without prior discussion, we naturally began to play by each picking up a letter/postcard, and circling, writing notes, and sharing weird details. This created a fun, anachronistic revelation of details, as sometimes one bit would go unremarked earlier would pop up in someone else's letters.

When an important detail came to the forefront of this developing narrative, I appreciated how the spotlight would pass around each of us adding more context or details or asking questions we weren't sure how to answer. But it's extremely difficult to discuss direct details without spoiling the contents of the letters. The discovery of certain documents and finding the inter-connectivity is the fun of this game.

The game comes with a single paragraph of instruction, which can seem daunting, but I was in awe of how the physical presentation made space for our own curiosity to define the bounds of how we approached the mystery. We examined photos under different types of lamplight, tried using the zoom on our smartphones as impromptu magnifying lenses, and folded paper in all sorts of ways. Most importantly, we were enraptured by this game for nearly three hours and were astonished at how fast the time passed.

We all appreciated how there is no direct, singular answer, and that we the players were the ones to define the story from our collective interpretation. It's not a good mystery, especially a ghost story mystery, if you're not left with more questions by the end.

Spoilers at the next heading!

Three specific moments literally gave me chills. I don't want to spoil those here. After the photo and line break is the report that was sent to the Archivist at curiosarchive.net. I realize now that we didn't "even "formally" discuss how we would classify the Albrecht Manor phenomena, but the classification is hinted at.

While I don't intend to spoil specific details in the letters, the submitted report has major spoilers. So if you haven't played this game, don't read any further!

Submitted Report to the Archivist

Dear Archivist,

The first sentence on the first postcard, unwittingly, says it all, "the house is a dream."

This group of Archive researchers have deemed this household, built by one Damian Albrecht, to be a spiritual machine. This trap inhabits the mind of its occupants, and grows and shifts according to its creator's and past occupants' hopes and dreams of a warm household. The researchers are even hesitant to call this a haunting, but agree the house appears to be a spatio-temporal machination propelled by the spirits it is required to consume to keep operating. The fire, in this interpretation, is a convenient excuse for the house to re-enter its slumbering stasis. The researchers' consensus is that there must be only one true fire, but could not access WHEN that may be.

The researchers agreed, though without substantial evidence, the purpose of this machine is to sustain not only long life to its creator, Damian Albrecht, but also to impose HIS dream onto others, and subsume their dreams to feed his own. Again, the fire is a convenient cover-up for the displaced spirits Albrecht has trapped.

The researchers were divided on several facets, foremost questioning the actual existence of the principal figures: Alex Dunn and Anne Wilson. Could it be that Alex Dunn is in fact Albrecht? Has the persona of Alex Dunn created the character of Anne Wilson to represent the inhabitants of St. Ann? Will there be an all-consuming fire that destroys the town, and this house (and letters) are calling the community to action, as a sort of warning? Does Albrecht Manor's machinery twist and channel the powers of the Catholic Saint Ann, whose emblem is a Door, to imbue itself with supernatural power? If Alex Dunn is/was a real person, were they drawn to the house due to past trauma involving Anne and the implied kitchen fire that took place in the past? Did this oft-alluded-to fire kill Anne?

Many loose ends remain, but these Archive Researchers remain confident that the initial readings of the Albrecht Manor as deviating from the traditional haunting are correct. The "ghosts" are most likely Albrecht himself, and the temporal echoes of the Manor's past occupants. We put forth that through mechano-spiritual insights, "Damian Albrecht" built Albrecht Manor to trap people into its/his dreams of a perfect home. As a single household can never be "perfect" in his madness, the Manor and its master yearn to consume more ideals to feed this imperfect spiritual machine.

79. Give Ants a Chance

I've only seen this episode once before, so it's still pretty new to me. Hare with the big plastic ant! With the little voice! Good lord. He's just too cute. (Both Hare and the ant.)

I think "Heebie Jeebies" is my favorite Walrus song. Probably because it's got that creepy Halloweeny feel to it, but I think it's just great. Everyone got to walk around and look all spooked! I can't get enough.

I thought it would be fun to use the "Pink Elephants" scene from Dumbo as inspiration for this picture. I had fun designing all the ants around him.

What a ride. So packed but coherent, doesn’t feel too quick or too slow. And the whole episode felt pretty halloweeny, no? Murder mystery, dark hallways, running out of time, maniacs, revenge. So cool. My thoughts are pretty chaotic but anyways

So, the smaller, Loki time loop finally looped, tbh sooner than I anticipated. And the bigger, Timely-HWR timeloop ended with his death. Or maybe it was supposed to end like this? I still don’t buy into the free will, when we know at least part of what’s happening was planned ahead by HWR

Speculation time. BUT from trailers it looks like the TVA will restart after the explosion and they will have to re-run certain things again, maybe altering some of the choices, and that’s how Loki will end up time slipping again. But will it also lead to the resurrection of Miss Minutes?..

I loved how Sylvie channeled viewers’ questions and concerns. Why no one’s ass is on fire? What happens to Timely when and if he helps fix the Loom? Why Loki puts so much faith into Timely, OB and Casey? And I agree with everything she told Mobius, although imo it was aimed at a bigger audience of the whole of the TVA.

I loved that Loki assumes the position of power without acknowledging it, without boasting, out of necessity. I really loved his and Sylvie dialogue in the pie room. I totally can see that they are gods, questioning and challenging each other.

Victor Timely is a star. He’s so chaotic, untrusting and curious at the same time. He looks and feels perfectly out of time. Loved him and his interaction with Casey and OB, and with D-90

Miss Minutes was for all time always creepy, but this time she outcreeped herself if it was even possible. I’m gonna have nightmares, so good job!

Brad who? It’s showbiz. What a guy, huh. No comments, really. And what was his deal with Dox anyway?

And I really love that Loki, Sylvie and Mobius are interconnected they way they are now, and Loki being the mediator. It’s pretty subtle but I’m enjoying it.

Episode 4 really stands out, I’m thrilled! Can’t wait for the next week. It’s been a while since I was excited for anything Marvel

Fighting Game Idea: Mashem Manor

@bogleech sharing his ideas for fighting game rosters made me want to do one of my own (and even includes some characters originally created for his 31 Day Horror House Challenge).

In Mashem Manor: No Good Deed, all the stages would be rooms of the same haunted house (living room, library, kitchen etc.) with of course the furniture being used to stymy opponents (you can throw pots and pans in the kitchen, summon a fire demon from the living room fireplace) and all the fighters would represent haunted house/ghost story cliches.

The Story: For decades, the ghosts and ghouls of Mashem Manor have been terrorising and frightening any unlucky mortals who happen upon their humble home. One Halloween, however, almost all the ghosts have grown bored with their way of afterlife and want something new, but every Mashem resident has a different idea of what new thing they and the house should try.

Thus, a tournament is held, with the victor gaining the deed to the house and with it, final say of how the house will be used.

Haunted House Cliche: Bedsheet Ghost Reason for Wanting the Deed: To keep things the way they are

If there's anyone in Mashem who loves tradition, it's Sheethappens. He's never tried anything beside wailing and rattling chains, and he's not going to start now! And not only does he rattle those chains, he can wrap them around his opponents and slash at them.

The Skeleton in the Cellar

Haunted House Cliche: Skeleton in the cellar Reason for Wanting the Deed: To open a detective agency

The remains of someone unknown; even he's forgotten who he used to be! He attacks entirely from below; when he punches, a hand comes through the floor. When he kicks, a foot comes through the floor. What's more, he can pull his opponents down in the cellar where he lies, or trap them halfway through the floor itself.

Lady Loathsome

Haunted House Cliche: Woman in white Reason for Wanting the Deed: She simply wants to accomplish something significant so she can move onto the next life

Plays similarly to Sheethappens, except unlike him, she boasts a sonic wail that can send her opponents flying backwards and can momentarily turn invisible.

The Creaky Floorboards

Haunted House Cliche: Creaky floorboards Reason for Wanting the Deed: If he owns the house, he thinks, no-one has any right to complain about his creaking

This character has been a great aid in helping the other ghosts locate victims to scare, but they generally find his creaking annoying, especially now that most have grown weary of scaring. That doesn't stop him from launching parts of his arms at his opponents, and wacking them on the head with his own.

Irene Keane

Haunted House Cliche: Painting with eyes that follow Reason for Wanting the Deed: To make the house as beautiful as her painting

Irene's painting floats in the air, with its corners acting as fists and feet when she needs to punch and kick. Not only can her eyes follow people around the room, they can detach from her face to distract opponents by sticking onto their face or by tripping them up.

Candy Bowl Butler

Haunted House Cliche: Creepy butler/trick or treaters coming across a haunted house Reason for Wanting the Deed: To be his own boss for a change.

Imagine a house so Halloweeny that even the bowl of sweets is alive, granted sentience by the residence’s supernatural power. He acts like that typical sarcastic butler you see in many movies, but said sarcastic nature is not only a coping method but a prominent attack. He can also polish the floor to cause opponents to slip and can throw candy at his enemies, but has to pick it back up quickly or he loses health.

Librarodactyl

Haunted House Cliche: Haunted library where books and book characters come to life Reason for Wanting the Deed: To make the house a large library for anyone to peruse.

Whatever supernatural force pulled Librarodactyl from a palentology book forgot that pteranodons are toothless and can't pick up things. Librarodactyl may be inaccurate, but she wouldn't have things any other way. She can be assisted by other figures from books, but once the characters spring from books, they become pop culture's idea of the books rather than the text itself. Thus she can summon a version of Dracula with no moustache who can be killed by sunlight, and an Ebenezer Scrooge whose only sin is hating Christmas and who mentions visiting the Cratchits on Christmas Day and having two business partners.

Samantha the Silly Squirrel

Haunted House Cliche: Haunted TV/childish thing made creepy Reason for Wanting the Deed: To build a theme park based on her show

Samantha mostly stays in her TV, with it walking around the stage. When she kicks, the TV's legs kick, but when she punches, a giant hand emerges from the screen. Her special attacks include utilising objects she picks up from ad breaks - climbing rocks is easy compared to avoiding her throwing a Knight Hot Dog at you.

Moose Head

Haunted House Cliche: Living hunting trophy Reason for Wanting the Deed: To tear down the house and make the land a wildlife reserve

The Moose Head hops around on his base, still managing to attack opponents with his antlers and butting into them.

Secret unlockable fighters would probably include Patty and/or Lemon Possum from my Weird Writings blog (as they're kind of my "mascots") and maybe one of the fighters from Bogleech's own hypothetical Halloween fighting game (maybe the pumpkin guy).

[Yomi Shi]|My JJK OC

a/n: enjoy my beautiful skelly boy :3 i'll be writing oneshots about him + more posts about his family soon- also apologies if this doesn't make sense; it's just a general markup of Yomi. i currently have no character design so i'd say just use your imagination

also warning for JJK SPOILERS

yomi - “land of the dead”/“underworld”; where dead souls reside in sadness and darkness

shi (written as four) - number associated with death, because it sounds like shi (written as death)

he/they; born male, but to be honest- it’s not like it really matters because he’s decaying anyways (aw… poor guy)

27, was in the same class as Nanami; attended Jujutsu High (has a lineage of sorcerers in his family [they all got techniques that are very… halloweeny], but his technique was so unusual that by the time he reached 15, they sent him off to Jujutsu High; his family does love him tho :3)

inspired by Gashadokuro (the starving skeleton yokai) [Gashadokuro]

special grade sorcerer; DE is extremely powerful, second to gojo’s

the Shi family is actually a family of sorcerer’s with very… strange techniques that are quite gruesome (I’ll add more explanation in another post soon); so far his close family (mother, father, older brother and younger sister) all have cursed techniques which is very rare; they’re all sorcerer’s though :) they may just be a lil creepy

rich with old money (because they’re a huge family of sorcerer’s, but not one of the three clans); his family home is a very gothic mansion, they also have a big shaggy Komondor dog (this dog is not really that important to Yomi’s lore, but I just want to paint a picture- the dog’s name is Kumo)

he uses a cursed imbued weapon that is in the shape of a cane with a skull on it (a small hand-knife is inside of the cane if pulled out, but Yomi usually doesn’t need to/doesn’t use it) - this is gifted by his family members

Cursed Technique:

Stun (Shi family technique): stuns the victim for a short amount of time (Yomi has been able to hold a victim in a stun for 10 seconds, which is longer than the rest of his family has ever done), Yomi is able to manipulate the victim’s body/use them as a puppet or make them hurt themselves|the only exceptions to Stun are Gojo Satoru and his sister (who has a body manipulation technique)

Resistance (from his curse-imbued bandages): this enhances Yomi’s defense/makes his body somewhat of a protection of steel due to his bandages; this also enhances his body and adding another layer to his normal internal strength (though it does depend on how strong his actual body is); these bandages are very hard to pull off/do not come off unless done by Yomi or if he allows someone else to; if an opposing technique involves touching, Yomi is usually unaffected unless the bandages are ripped off of him

Timer (his actual technique): in order for Yomi to land this onto someone, Yomi must aim/land a hit on the victim in some way; the victim is set a certain amount of seconds (it’s random, but it usually varies depending on strength, age, etc) the average amount being 20 seconds to exhaust their energy; the victim can fight/function/use techniques are normal, but using all of those soon start to become more and more exhausted and demanding more out of the body/the person; as the timer goes down, actions of the victim require even more energy until they use up all of their energy and die/become exorcised

Domain Expansion: SHOWTIME! - a theatre space domain where the victim, other people, and Yomi are dressed in classic formal clothing; victim is dragged from a dressing room and onto a stage by skeleton shikigami that appear passive (these shikigami usually assist Yomi in the domain, they are seen wearing a tuxedo with a bowtie); participants in the audience are skeletons/shaded figures that clap when the victim is hit (Yomi can also drag other people into the domain that aren’t his victims, they usually are seated in the audience) people who are not considered enemies are placed in the balcony in the audience; Yomi is seated at the front and forces the victim to dance to death (victim is forcefully stunted) if victim breaks out of the dance of death, they will be eaten by a large skeleton figure that is behind the curtains (quite literally gashadokuro); however, victim can also play another sequence where they are casted onto a wheel by gashadokuro and are spun to figure out whether their soul gets to be eaten by gashadokuro (quieter death) OR are eaten alive (more brutal); the two games are decided by Yomi and whether or not he chooses to spare them (also when DE is being used, Yomi’s full human face can be seen); Yomi can reside anywhere in the audience that he chooses, but he’s usually seen front and center with his usual formal attire and his cane

burdened by a Heavenly Restriction: basically a human skeleton; is slowly decaying, set to fully die at age 50; the last time he had a fully functioning face was 20 (only his family and classmates from his high school year know what his face used to look like before it became what it is now); it's hard for him to talk at his current age (27), but he will talk when he absolutely needs to

currently at 27 still has flesh in his body that’s slowly tightening around his bones, body is still somewhat in tact and he’s actually quite strong physically wise (partially because of his bandages); has been and is held together by cursed-infused bandages that are actually imbued with a very strong curse by his grandmother

Shoko is currently studying how to heal Yomi… as sometimes when healing minor injuries, his skin comes back temporarily

covered head to toe in said bandages, which makes him appear off-putting because you quite literally cannot see his face or anything (upon first appearance, he looks like a cursed spirit almost, but he has the energy of a jujutsu sorcerer)

wears a black and white suit (white button up, tie, black jacket suit over the shoulders, black slacks, leather gloves and black combat boots)

when he joined Jujutsu High… here are the following reactions:

Gojo: thought he wasn’t real, tries to take off his head bandages (Geto stopped him)

Geto: curious about Yomi’s cursed technique (at the time Yomi appeared physically weak, aka… not rly the fit for a special grade sorcerer), but also thought that Yomi was really handsome

Shoko: thought Yomi was actively dying low-key (technically he was…); avoided smoking in front of him

Nanami: indifferent, the first person to treat Yomi like a mutual human being (Yomi has had a crush ever since)

Haibara: WOAH SKELETON DUDE

Him, Gojo, and Geto are a weird trio… are usually NEVER put together, and it happened a couple times because they wanted Yomi to come along/followed Yomi on a mission out of curiosity to watch him use his technique

enjoys black and white clothing (though, it’s not like he can see anymore), sweets (habit he picked up from SatoSugu), jewelry specifically rings (likes the noises it makes when it rattles, makes contact with a hard surface), frogs (they remind him of Nanami for some reason), miso soup (because most of what he eats is liquid based-)

not a teacher, but is often at Jujutsu High/lives nearby because he can’t really walk outside into society on a normal basis due to getting weird stares and once a guy tried to rip off his bandages

will only go out in public if it’s a drastic measure (aka… Shibuya); if he’s in front of citizen’s he’ll usually wear a mask and cap to disguise himself, as well as clothes that cover his whole body and figure

originally had no clue how to answer “Why are you at Jujutsu High?” Other than “It’s the only thing I can do until I decay and die.”; until he heard Nanami striving to use sorcery to protect people, which naturally Yomi wanted to do the same (because Yomi’s a SIMP)

will on occasion sub for Gojo, very well liked by all of them (Megumi likes him)

Him and Inumaki get along very well (the whole no talking thing); the 2nd years respect him well, the 1st years think he’s interesting, the Kyoto students are afraid of him except for Miwa (because Miwa actually sparked conversation with him); Sukuna thinks that he should just decay already (what a dick)

is very good with the students, but usually doesn’t talk/or say much unless he needs to

Yomi is very kind-hearted; will give a student a candy if he senses/notices them frown; very empathetic with other’s feelings and can understand Gojo’s loneliness very well (doesn’t really view Gojo as the strongest or anyone really… he’s neutral and thinks the ranking system and the higher ups are stupid cough like Nanami cough)

sweet and quiet kind of person, but he himself is not very emotional…? In-tune with his feelings, however, but due to energy balance, he doesn’t like to waste energy on overly expressing emotions unless he absolutely needs to (aka extreme anger, grieving… being a simp for Nanami)

can overthink though; often knows people’s first thoughts on him and tends to expect that reaction on the spot (is shocked when he doesn’t receive that from other people)

Didn’t blame Nanami for leaving because he was very close with Haibara (Itadori makes Yomi feel very protective for that reason)

was very happy to hear from Gojo that Nanami was coming back (Gojo teased the shit out of him)

Him and Gojo become close after Geto defecting

Hates his birthday, or when times passes in general (he doesn’t like thinking about when Geto left/other events that happened); likes to live in the present and not think about the past or the future (because he’ll inevitably die)

Yomi values his friendships/relationships very much; it’s the entire reason why he wants to keep living life to the fullest

Has scary dog privilege though- very intimidating on the battlefield so much so that even grade 1 curses cower in fear

He likes Halloween :3 the one day he can just be himself out in public (likes to go to arcades with Gojo if he’s free or will just go by himself) (this definitely doesn't go wrong at all)

wants to confess his feelings to Nanami (which may be mutual owo) after Shibuya

aren't i such a nice creator? (im sorry atlas and yomi- i love you both very much but the angst is fun)

Treats of the Trick: Halloween 2023 Winners! ~

Congratulations to @coolcoolcooltighttightight, @just--a--penguin and @spooky-bard for winning this week's contest!

@coolcoolcooltighttightight — Food of the Fae

So yeah, I've seen Pan's Labyrinth an age and a half ago. Is this related? Probably not one-to-one but it's also a general mythos with some cool implications here. Blue food has always been a fun little work-around for lifegain for me, and I think that this card's pseudo-mixed-messaging prevents it from being too disjointed. Considering that you might want a mix of faerie and non-faerie creatures, one would think that things would get odd in deckbuilding, but I think that the fun of this is both for flavor and for limited, and the success is a meta one.

The creatures becoming faeries helps with faerie buffs, for one. I think that the activated ability should have a reflexive trigger instead of the kinda-replacement you have currently, but that still shows the fun of having the creature then benefit from faeries AND get flying afterwards. The more food, the more faeries you can make! Even a one-off of a bigger creature like a red brute or a green bigthing would be worth it in the shell. And eating the Food to make faeries? Fantastically done; a draft/sealed deck would use this for sure and it would feel right at home in the western European folktale side of things. Really cute and captivating! ... Oh no. It's got me.

@just--a--penguin — Many-Headed Splendor

Lots of these cards were really well-designed this week, but I had a hard time coming to grips with which ones were best balanced and stood out. Rereading it all, I came back to this card and thought about the design mitigations of having a creature's base P/T become 0. But the ETB replacement making it big like that? I think this card is a blast in a set with big-power-little-toughness cards, with counter synergies, Theros-style heroism, and just in general, it's a card that does just enough of everything to be clever.

The trample's what really sells me, honestly. If absolutely nothing else, it gives a creature some extra evasion for that point of damage. Two of these cards on the same creature is especially fun. I can envision a satyr or human or, I dunno, a Dominarian barbarian jumping out from the woods with a whole bunch of psychic heads growing from them, and feeling that expansion with the weakness inherent to the changed self, having it become splendorous in power but then defined by its new hydra nature, is very cool to me as well. We're in the valley of "they could print this card and I'd love it" and that's just a fun place to be.

@spooky-bard — Shadowtwister Crone

My fellow, my captain, my compatriot—I want this to be an uncommon so badly too but I'm almost 100% convinced that it needs to be a rare. But I don't know. I don't know! It's creepy and spooky and you're making a nightmare out of a scarecrow and I'm making a mountain out of a molehill. Remembering other effects similar to this...I can think of, uh, one, and I don't remember the name of it. It's insanely powerful and frustrating without proper removal, but ya know what, isn't everything in this damn game? Argh! Menacing scarecrows! I still love this card!

It's a little bit halloweeny, too, and looking through the winners this week, I actually didn't think about the halloween implications until afterwards. The faerie enchantment plays into established mythos, the hydra card is a solid fantasy card-game staple, and now we're more fully into in-world flavortown in a way that's oppressive on-board and a singular story that's... Heck, I dunno, I'm losing words for precisely what I'm trying to say here about how these cards feels different from each other in unique ways and why this card is a particularly emotion-driven one. Which is a good thing. You took a pushed piece of board presence and gave it a standard but effective creepy air. Perhaps I love the scarecrow and the infrequent kindred nature of those crow-scarin' sons of witches. Perhaps it's the way this woman turns things her scarecrows into nightmares and your creatures into shadows. I think you just nailed a bunch of good pieces together and I'm feeling the heat, so to speak. Is that so wrong? Is that helpful? Is she standing right behind me?

Costumes!

Sans: I’d think, if he puts a tiny bit of effort in it he’d go as a ghost. Otherwise he’ll just go as himself with maybe drawn on a white shirt with a black marker: “png. costume not found”.

Papyrus: Papyrus has been brainstorming about this for a few months. He's been excited for this for a long time (ever since he found out this was a thing) and he wants to do good. So he decided to go vampire. And he went all out with this. He made the costume himself (with some slight aid from Sans because measurements and sorts are a bitch to do) and it looks really good!

Red: Red is not all that much of a fan of dress up, so the best Charon can get out of him is just Red with a different jacket, fake blood on a red shirt (come on, Red, really?) with a butcher knife. So he’s going as a serial killer/butcher.

Charon: For the longest time Charon couldn’t pick what he wanted to go as. He didn’t want it to be lame. So he’s been struggling until one day he got an idea. Getting armor wasn’t so hard since Undyne liked to keep spare platings so he could easily use that or get Red to make some. Because no way was he going to use plastic. He painted it black and red with some cool patterns on it. Charon even manifested a bone attack that looks like a long sword. Charon goes as a dark knight.

Bear: Bear and Bean wanted to match. Purely because it's fun. There won’t be anything all too creepy, or anything with knives. Something basic they could pull off pretty well. Bear is putting quite some effort into this costume. Purely because it’s nice to pretend to be someone else then who he really is. It’s relaxing and fun. Bear acquired some black paint to paint his bones, with the help of Bean he made some cool feathery designs with the furry fabric they bought specially for this. Since Bean often makes both of their clothes it wasn’t hard to make the entire costume. Bear even painted a yellow plastic duck beak he got at a dollar store entirely black. He looks real cool in his crow costume.

Bean: After a bit of searching on the internet for some ideas, Bean finally found the perfect costume. One that doesn’t have any “fake gore” or stains or anything that makes Bean uncomfortable. And this costume in particular does Bean’s long, lanky stature a favor. Bean often makes both his and Bear’s clothes so he got a few tricks up his sleeves. He got a few coats and jackets that are a bit worn out so he can easily use them for the bases. Create some tears to use pieces of the other clothes as patches. Put an extra layer on the coat where the stuffing will stick out between the layers. Create a ragged looking hat and follow a few makeup tutorials and Bean is ready to shine. Bean is going this Halloween as a scarecrow.

Sky: Sky couldn’t choose between so many options. So he let his brother pick for him. The result was one of the least scary or Halloweeny, but still fun to do nonetheless. Sky refused to just buy a completely finished costume at a store. However, since he’s not all that great in tailoring he does buy a dark colored coat that fits him. The decorations and details on the cloak he does himself. Some of the patterns were an idea from Syrup. Sky used a magic attack as his staff instead of the usual wooden one. Sky also already had a hat he sometimes uses in his D&D games which he could wear with his costume. This Halloween, Sky goes as a sorcerer.

Syrup: It isn’t Syrup if he doesn’t go as something goofy. Syrup can create his own costume like how he helped out designing Sky’s costume for this Halloween, but that would take so much effort. Nah, he’s grabbing a cheap costume from a dollar store. It’s a mixture of yellow and orange and it covers his entire body. There are some wires inside the fabric to keep the form standing. Even so it still sags a bit but to Syrup it makes it even more goofy. What is Syrup going as? Well if you thought it was a pot of honey, then you would be wrong. That’s what he was last year. Nah, Syrup is a pumpkin this Halloween.

Razzle: Razzle made his own costume. He looks like he’s floating with the long cloak. The hood hides his face in shadow except the lavender flaring eyelight, revealing his socket and some of his teeth vaguely. Razzle manifested a long bone attack with a sharp blade sticking out at the end like a scythe. He’s quite a terrifying reaper.

Coal: Coal is a fan of those anti heroes in the comic books he reads. But he doesn’t want to wear anything too tight or too difficult to make. So he went to brainstorm a bit with Mastiff and found the greatest costume ever. After going to the store with his twin and goofing off some, Coal found the perfect spiked jacket and boots. Coal decided against tight pants so instead of leather he went for black jeans with chains on it. With a little training with both Mastiff and Razzle, Coal managed to make it look like his head is set ablaze with yellow fire -which in actuality is his magic which has been formed into looking like flames. Coal is going as Ghost rider

Mastiff: Mastiff wanted to do something on the nose and fitting. Funnily enough, he didn’t want to acquire and have the costume look so easy. But Mastiff isn’t really the tailor of the three brothers - that would be Razzle - so imagine this poor boy having his phalanges stuck together with glue and patches of fake fur sticking to his bones and clothes. He would have to ask Razzle for help with this one…

Did he actually go ask Razzle for this favor?

Short answer would be; yes.

The long answer however: Stubbornness had kept him quiet about his costume predicament for a long while, until Halloween was just a week away. So after stalling the inevitable, Mastiff finally relented and went to Razzle for help.

The costume isn’t exactly how Mastiff would’ve imagined it - but that’s due to the limited time frame both he and his brother had. It does look real good however. Cool black, furry ears with amber colored tips sit on top of his furry hoodie’s hood. A black fluffy tail also with an amber colored tip sticks out his pants. Mastiff is going as a wolf this Halloween.
