Last weekend! Final day of the ski season in Engelberg so we decided to go, but the weather was pretty good on Saturday and we knew ski conditions wouldn't be great so we climbed in the valley on Saturday. Two friends spontaneously joined us and we had a lovely first rock sesh of the year (even though I was pretty scared, as usual when I haven't climbed on rock in a while, which is pretty much always in the past few years 😭) (side note: not me in any of the pictures, all my cool friends haha).

Then Ben and I had an amazingly cosy evening in the van - I'm still not used to how fantastic it is in there now 😍 reading in bed felt pretty special that night.

And then the last ski of the season on sunday 😥 sad that the season is over but already looking forward to next winter when, if everything goes to plan, I will be much less stressed and busy and able to do much more skiing and ski mountaineering! Yay. Had a nice day anyway and it felt so good to get an adventure weekend in inbetween all the madness.

Had the first adventure-y weekend in a while and it was pretty epic, we skied AND rock climbed on sunday - pretty rare combination in the same day I think 🤣

We had a slow morning on Saturday and I spent some time planning for June (more on that later, it's !!!!!), then we went to the gym for a quick lead sesh and it was the best climb I've had in aaaages. As usual after a longer break I've been struggling to get back into it, just feeling weak and scared and not at all where I want to be mentally. BUT on Saturday things finally clicked! I sent every single route I got on and did two routes one grade above the hardest thing I've done since the break and one another grade above that, all first try!!! And most importantly had so much fun.

On sunday we got up super early to drive to Engelberg where the ski resort is still open to the mid station 😱 the glacier is always open until late may but the mid station is only at like 1300m so for that to still have snow is kind of crazy. The snow wasn't even that bad, we had a lot more fun than expected 🤣 around noon it started to get seriously hot in ski gear though so we went down about an hour later.

Got changed into more seasonally appropriate gear aka shorts and t shirts haha and wandered into town for a coffee and it was so lovely, the town was super quiet but it felt like spring and everything was green and sunny and ahhh. It made me happy.

And then we drove a few minutes to the climbing! Very short approach and a lovely crag, will definitely come back there. The climbing was really nice too, I didn't lead anything and was still finding my way back to it - my last time on rock was in October i think? And we didn't climb outdoors much at all last year so my head game has definitely taken a hit haha. Had fun following Ben though and was getting back into it by the end. Such a good weekend.
