I'm sorry I'm running on not much sleep I was up til 3:30am and i still haven't beat the final boss but I needed to post this because I feel like I've been validated and i'm still screaming about it

So you know my theory? My controversial ass Limbus theory? The one about Dante? (if you look at the tags of this post you'll know lmao) WELL BOY DID THIS FUCKING CHAPTER DO ME A SOLID.

SO REMEMBER THE FUCKING PART OF THE FUCKING CHAPTER WHERE DANTE GETS A NEW POWER

First of all, the fact that they go "hey wait, can't I also slow down or speed up time too" when I've been yelling about how similar their powers are to the TT Protocol in Lobcorp as part of my Evidence is. A lot to cope with.

And then they activate it. And then it shows this fucking screen.

and then it goes into the fight and we get the HEY, DANTE HAS A NEW ABILITY NOW, and I'm going fucking feral so I click on the tab to look, because obviously I'm going to, and what do I FUCKING SEE

Happy 2024! ✨ I hope everyone is doing all right. I'm back after a rather intense winter holiday of being sick and bedridden. Feeling better now, though I'm still coughing a bit.

Opening up the year with Azra, from my original story Arkanum. I'm still playing around with inks and Copic markers and having fun with them. Though with the long winter pause I feel like I just deleted all of my art skills lmao

I have another digital illustration in the works (you might've seen it if you are on my patre0n), and I'm hoping to finish it soon. I want to do more digital this year as well.

And speaking of patre0n, I'm thinking of changing the tiers up a bit, but I'm still unsure. It's an idea in the back of my mind for now.

Life Talk

Tone summary:

Life

I'm lowkey a wreck???? Is that a thing? I think you know what I mean. I get up and do the things, but emotionally everything is like AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

First World Problems

So I've been saving for a bathroom reno for... I don't even know how long, years and years. We have a sum that I thought was pretty substantial??? We went to a showroom and I picked a bunch of stuff I didn't like bc that is what they had. My inspiration for my bathroom is sea glass, and the showroom had neutrals only. Like, the kind of bathroom reno you do to flip a house, but on a much nicer scale.

Anyway, we had y money. Our estimate was y + (y*46%). I mentioned that our estimate made sense about 3 years ago, and the designer said, "Yes, 3 years ago your estimate would be about 6% higher than your budget of y." Meaning there has been a roughly 40% inflation of their services/materials over the last 3 years.

Okay, so like, I get it. I have a home, this is a first world problem. But it also isn't? Because like... What if your pipes burst, and you need to redo your bathroom? Now it's 40% more expensive than it was 3 years ago, through no fault of your own.

It's like everything I was saving for, everything I tried to do... The goal post dramatically leaped in a short timeframe. I'm so frustrated. I'd put it off, but apparently the forecast for this type of goods/services is further unprecedented inflation next year, of course.

I've also spent the whole damned weekend on this, because today, my husband made a 3D model of our bathroom, and I picked stuff I actually like. So like- I haven't done any chores or creative stuff or relaxing. My husband just asked me to get on a call with our two closest friends from out of state to plan a meet up, and I just about burst into tears. I just can't handle more mental load. I don't want to be the person who turns down doing things (that I can reasonably afford) because I'm so overwhelmed, but that's where I am.

Work

It's weird because lately, work has been... A bit better? I take lunches. I leave on time, or even half an hour early. But I'm so beyond burnt out from those few months where I worked closely with someone and did my work plus half of his, or more.

This is a weird thing to say, I know, but I had an epiphany when I was talking to my hairdresser yesterday, lmao! I was telling her all the stuff I did this year at work, and she was like- um, that sounds like a lot? Like really amazing?

And it's true. This year, I generated a type of protein that no one in my company has been able to make. I closed out a project my senior has been trying to do for almost the whole year- I did it in two weeks. I've been taking on and wrapping up lingering projects, all of which I had no clue how to do. My boss calls me The Closer.

And through all of this, I've felt like an underperforming idiot, because I didn't know the skills needed for anything and I struggled and asked a million qs and was anxious all the time. But the people who did have the skills and background couldn't (wouldn't?) do it, and I did.

The place itself is still a massive dumpster fire of chaos. But I'm doing well, except... I'm always given tasks I don't know how to do, and often, no one in my group knows, either. It's all brand new stuff or finishing stuff other people couldn't get done. That is so much extra mental load and stress compared to doing tasks I know how to do.

Creative Life

I've been doing Nanowrimo. Until yesterday, I was doing and feeling great. I wrote all of 83 words yesterday, and 0 so far today, lmao! I'll... try.

I still feel weird/unsure about sharing my work. I'm trying not to focus on that, and instead focus on enjoying creating. Right now, I'm really overwhelmed in general, though.

Fearing for the Future

I'm at the age where if I want to have biological kids, it's uhhhh it's at that "clock is ticking" point. But I'm barely handling myself as I am, without a kid, and stuff keeps getting wildly more expensive. I try to remind myself that I have an anxiety disorder, so my fears are augmented, but...

It really feels like, at this moment, this world isn't fit to bring a kid into. It feels like a lot of the stuff considered normal for a middle class person like twenty years ago is just... Off the table now.

Despair doesn't help anyone, you know? No point languishing on it. But also, uh, it feels very real? I'm sure people think about this a lot lately, so I don't want to catastrophize at length. I guess I'm just sharing that it's on my mind.

I'm still unsure on the twins ages in age of ultron since one source says 16 and the other says 26 lmao. Imma just say the twins are 17 or 18.

You stared down at the city below with a frown. You knew Clint wouldn't rest until Natasha was found. Everything had happened so quickly and even if you had tried to catch her with a root, you would've been pulled along. A sigh left you as you sat down at your desk. Your room in the tower felt like a cell. Gray walls, white bed, white desk. The only real color in the room came from the line of potted flowers on the desk. You felt your stomach grumble, standing up and leaving the room. You headed to the kitchen, getting a granola bar. You opened it, taking a bite from it. You almost choked, hearing crashing and arguing. You swallowed the bits of granola as you followed the noises to the laboratory. You headed up the stairs, dodging a flying Steve.

"What the fuck?" You turned your head, seeing the Maximoff twins. "What the fuck?" You repeated, watching them in bewilderment. Another one left you when Thor crashed through a window, raising his hammer and letting the electricity power the cradle. Nothing happened for a moment before the cradle burst open, causing Thor to fly back.

"I should've stayed with Laura." You whispered, staring at the red man that emerged from the cradle. He slowly stood, looking between everyone. His gaze settled on Thor, lunging for him but Thor grabbed him and threw him to the side, causing another crash.

"(Y/N), stay close." Clint called, eyeing the twins. You quickly walked over to him, hearing the crunching of glass beneth your shoes. While Thor and Steve took the dramatic way, you chose to use the door and head to the room Vision was in. Thor raised his hand, stopping Steve from attacked. The man stared out into the city, staying silent and motionless. Thor set down his hammer as the man landed on the door, apologizing to Thor and mimicking his cape.

"Thor, you helped create this?"

"I've had a vision. A whirlpool that sucks in all forms of life and at its center is that." Thor explained, pointing at the crystal in the mans forehead.

"What, the gem?" Bruce asked, watching Thor look at him.

"The mind stone." He corrected. "It's one of the six infinity stones. The greatest power in the universe with destructive abilities." Thor explained as he faced everyone.

"It looks like a citrine." You muttered, continuing to unwrap the rest of your granola bar, swiping away the crumbs that fell on the floor with your foot.

"A what?" Clint asked softly. You glanced at him.

"It's a type of gemstone. It's supposed to motivate you to take action." You shrugged lightly. Gemstones were pretty interesting to study, even more so when they had so called 'destructive abilities.'

"Stark's right."

"Oh, it's definitely the end." Bruce said quietly.

"Why does your vision sound like J.A.R.V.I.S?" Steve asked as he watched the man walk forward. Tony explained why, still in awe and surprise. The man looked at Steve.

"You think I'm a child of Ultron?" Though it sounded like a question, it was obvious it was a statement.

"You're not?"

"I'm not Ultron." The man replied softly, almost confused. "And.. I'm not J.A.R.V.I.S either."

"I looked in your head and saw annihilation." Wanda said, stepping forward as she glared at him. Clint scoffed softly, walking towards everyone. You followed, tossing the wrapper into the trashcan.

"Look again."

"Your approval seems jack to me." Clint said, gaze staying locked on the twins. Wanda's gaze went to Clint before going to you. You maintained brief eye contact. It wasn't everyday you met another meta.

"Her powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultrons powers.. They all came from the mind stone. Nothing compares to what it can unleash." Thor revealed. "And with it on our side-"

"Is it?" Steve interrupted, looking at the man again.

"Are you? On our side?"

"I don't think it's that simple." He replied softly.

"Sounds pretty simple. Death or life for humanity." You said, shrugging. He looked at you, giving a small nod before looking at the others.

"Then.. I'm on the side of life. Ultron isn't." He took small steps forward, not wanting to agitate anyone.

"What's he waiting for?"

"You." The man stared at Tony. You were already coming up with names for him. Tony Jr was the one sticking.

"Sokavia's our best bet." Tony said.

"Nat's there too." Clint told them, looking at Bruce when he approached the man.

"If we're wrong about you..." Bruce started softly. His threats were always amusing until he turned green. He stared at Tony Jr, letting it up to his imagination, if he had that.

"I don't want to kill Ultron." Tony Jr walked around Bruce, continuing past everyone.

"He's weak.. And in pain but that pain will roll over the Earth, so he must be destroyed. Every forms he's built, every sense of his presence on the net. We have to act now and not one of us can do it without the other." Tony Jr turned, facing them. He looked down at his hands.

"Maybe I am a monster. I don't know if I will become one.. I'm not what you are. I'm not what you intended. So there may be no way for you to trust me but we need to go." Tony Jr finished his speech, picking up Thors hammer and handing it to him. The room stayed silent as everyone took it in. Thor took his hammer, clearing his throat and nodding.

"Alright." He gave a small smile, walking away. You sighed, turning around and walking towards the bar.

"Don't even think about it." Clint called as he walked past you. You huffed, watching him go.

"Seriously?" You rolled your eyes, looking over your shoulder at the twins. They walked away in amusement, following Steve's directions to the lockers. You walked to your room, putting on the outfit Clint had designed for you. You looked at a picture of you and Clint, smiling softly. You left the room, walking down the hall. You noticed Thor and Tony Jr talking outside, arms crossing as you approached the glass. You stared at the two, gaze locking onto the reflection of the twins. You turned to face them, seeing Wanda pause and stay in her spot.

"Sorry about choking you." You spoke first, looking between them. Wanda gave a small nod, hand gently gripping her arm.

"Did you get experimented on like us?" Pietro asked, head tilting. Some white strands fell over his face. You shook your head, biting your bottom lip as you thought on how to explain it.

"From what Bruce told me, my mother had drugs in her system during labor. It was an unknown drug that they still haven't identified but Bruce says that it might've given me some freak cell mutation that gave me these powerd. It's weird. Clint said it took a long time to even find any information on my family. I don't know if it's true or something that they told me to make me feel better about being orphaned." The twins gaze softened, glancing at each other. Wanda licked her lips, glancing at the ground.

"When were you orphaned?" She asked softly.

"When I was a baby. My mom died in labor and my dad had been found dead with a needle in his arm a day later. I was put into an orphanage cause my parents were seen as a Jane Doe and John Doe. Again, it's weird." You told them, shrugging lightly. Pietro took in a soft breath, gaze becoming distant.

"We're orphans too. I'm sure you already know what happened by now but.. A bomb killed them." Pietro said softly. He took in a deeper breath, giving a small smile to lighten the mood.

"I suppose that's another thing we have in common." He pointed out with a small shrug. You nodded, smiling softly. It was nice to be around people your age who understood you. Even Wanda seemed relaxed and more comfortable.

"(Y/N), what'd I say?" You looked up upon hearing Clint's voice.

"You were the one who left me alone to change." You reminded him with a soft huff, going around the twins and approaching him. Clint shot you a pointed look, glancing at the twins. You understood why he was distrustful of them.

"Clint, they're like me." You said quietly as you walked with him to the aircraft.

"You're not like them."

"Yes, I am. They're metas and around my age. Weren't you the one who said I had to work on my people skills?" You cocked a brow as you stared at him. Clint stayed silent, giving you the answer.

"They were fighting for their country after it was attacked. They have all the right to be distrustful-"

"After one conversation, you can tell apart the difference between good guys and bad guys?"

"I don't know, Clint, you tell me. You were the one who chose to take in a kid who almost choked your best friend to death and attempted to impale Americas biggest playboy with a fucking branch." You hissed lowly, frowning and looking forward.

"You were, and still are, a kid." Clint said, voice becoming hard and stricter.

"Oh, well, fuck me, I didn't realize the twins were in their eighties."

"Quit giving me attitude, (Y/N). I want to protect you. You don't know if they're gonna stab us in the back when we least expect it. If we destroy Ultron and they stay on our side, you can play dolls with them." Clint said, approaching the aircraft.

"Whatever." You entered the aircraft, taking a seat. The others entered not long after. The twins sat down beside you as Clint headed to the front.

"We didn't get you in trouble, did we?" Wanda asked quietly, glancing over at Clint. You shook your head, toying with the roots in order to relax.

"No, just.. Strict dad drama." You muttered. Wanda tilted her head, making eye contact with Pietro before it clicked.

"Oh.. He adopted you? That's nice." Wanda gave a small smile. "Maybe the Avengers aren't so heartless."

"We aren't." You assured, looking between her and Pietro. "It'll take a while but.. We can all grow to trust each other."

"I hope so." Pietro breathed out, hands going to the belt as the aircraft lifted up. You chuckled at the nervous look on his face.

Shoto Todoroki x Reader

A little bit of help part 2

Part 1 (you can actually read it without the first part and I'm pretty sure you will understand it anyways, it's just a fluffy scenario )

I wrote this late at night so it's probably... really bad lmao

You were dizzy... extremely dizzy

Your sight started to become filled with little black points until there was nothing but darkness

And you felt how your body was trembling

But you could still hear Todoroki's voice

"Come on Y/N! You can do this! We both know it!" His tone was still as relaxed and monotonous as always but his voice was louder than you have ever heard

He was cheering for you

And not only cheering for you, he was doing it in front of his father

If he allowed himself to call his atention even knowing he would no longer be able to avoid his father just to cheer for you you had to win

So you pushed yourself a bit more

"I don't want you to push yourself or feel pressure on this training" You remembered Todoroki's only rule during your training

You did not understand his words that day but as you grew closer you started to get it

You used to train after lunch and after your classes so you ended up eating together and walking home together too

Well, to be fair, he would walk you home

"Hey, todoroki, I got a question" you asked while the boy slurped his beloved soba once "you entered UA by recommendation, right?"

He nodded

"Who recommended you?" It was a genuine question, no gossip or meanness on it

What was a little crush because of his incredible fighting skills soon stepped to a bigger crush for his personality

That kind of polite but absolutely nonexisting socials skills

The way he was always so straight forward and funny without trying to, actually being the most serious guy to walk on earth

You had grown attached to all those little details details about him and you really wanted to know some more

"My stupid old father"

"Wow, he must be really important" It clicked you then, his fire powers and his left side was just like endeavour's "oh... I hadn't realized, the hero number 2 is your father?"

He did not answer, nothing at all, silent

"That must give you a lot of pressure" he grumbled this time "but at least he must have taught you a lot"

He stood up, angry "lets go training, I dont like this conversation"

This training session wasn't like anything before, he was taking it specially seriously and you barely managed to avoid his attacks, let alone attack or train yourself

The classes finally ended and you wiated for Todoroki on your usual training spot but he did not show up

So you decided to go and find him

Not many streets far away from your high school you found him, walking alone

He was probably heading towards his house

"Todoroki!" You called him from behind but his feet did not stop and he did not even turn to see you "What about our training?"

Finally the boy stopped and looked at you

"Sorry, I forgot about it" you knew very well he didn't "Can we leave it until tomorrow?"

"Yeah... yeah of course" He was angry, wasn't he? "Can I walk you home? You always do that for me!"

He nodded reluctantly and you joined his walk, silently

"I... I'm sorry" you finally broke the awkward silent that had remained between you for the past five minutes of your shared walk "I don't know what it is but I know I have done something to bother you, can you please tell me what it is so I can apologise properly?"

"You did nothing, it's fine" It clearly wasn't

"Is it because I asked about your father? I wasn't trying to be mean or nosy I just... I want to know you better, to be friends"

"I'm not really trying to make friends but okay, I have no trouble explaining it to you" your hands started to sweat and you were honestly awkward

"I just want to become the number 1 hero without using my left side, the one with fire" you nodded, encouraging him to continue

"My father... you know what a quirk arranged marriage is?" You did but you thought no one would really do it

"Well, my mother had an ice quirk and my father thought that having both their quirks I would be the strongest hero ever but..." you tried to smile to him, searching to give him some reassurance but you noticed then he hadn't been looking at you this whole time, he wasn't really looking at anything "he was abusive and neglected me and my sibling for his thirst of power, he forced me to train and drove my mother absolutely insane. I want to show him that I can be equally strong without using his quirk and that way show him that I am no longer his son, I reject him"

"I... understand, I'm so sorry for bringing up your father, I shouldn't have, if you had never spoke about him you sure had a reason too, I'm so sorry"

"It's okay, you didn't know it anyways"

"If it cheers you up I'm sure you will be able to proof to him that you are better than him, because... you are, you know?"

No answer was given to that

And you two shared anothers 5 minutes in absolute silent

"Oh I get it, you did not want to train me so you couldn't be like your father" You broke it, again.

He nodded, his eyes glued to his feet and clearly avoiding your look

"Its okay, you are not him, I'm the one who wants this, remember?"

You could swear you saw a very very tiny smile show in his face after that

And now, on the sports festival he was cheering for you, you wantes to see that tiny smile again so you, against his very own words, pushed yourself further than your body allowed you too

You did not see any longer and your body was not able to keep on its feets

But you managed to grab the plants your opponent had created

And from there, even without knowing where she was, you found her

You crawled your way to her, following the plants to where you believed they started

And there you found her, your opponent

She did not expect you to follow her own weapon to find her and with that surprise as your advantage you finally touched her

Then, it was decided, you won

Once your hand touched her skin she fell on a tight dream

With that, she was out of combat and you got your victory

But you found yourself falling to the ground with your opponent

Before touching the ground you heard "Ibara Shiozaki is out of combat! Y/N wins!"

The moment you heard those words you finally gave in

And your body collapsed, you were no longer conscious

When your eyes shot open you saw the nursery around you and you understood it, you had pass out fighting and now you were resting as you should

"Midoriya is using everything he has!" The TV was loud, so loud it bothered you. You would have switched it off if it wasn't for who was Midoriya's opponent

Todoroki

You followed his steps and attacks, your eyes could not get out of the boy even when some of your friends came to see you

Eventually, you saw him use his left side

And something inside you broke

He was so sure of his goal and now he would nit be able to accomplish it right?

You turned off the TV finally and wrapped yourself in the nursery blanket

But no more than 10 minutes after the fight Todoroki was at your door

"Can I... come in?" You nodded at his question

When the boy was besides your nursery bed you two stood in front of each other in absolute silent

Until you raised you hand and reached to his left cheek, the perfect spot to touch his healthy skin while caressing his scar with your thumb

"Why did you use your left hand?" It was your genuine concern who asked him and not you really

"I don't know" again, Todoroki was looking at the ground, you hated how someone so strong and admired by everyone could be so unsure around his father topic

You truly hated Endeavor, altought you didn't knew the details about what he had done you knew how much it has hurted todoroki, it was more than enough to hate him

"Midoriya said it was my power and I felt... confident about it for a second but I dont know what to do with it now... I'm not sure if I want to use it or not"

"Midoriya is right, it's your power afterall, if you decide to use it it has nothing to do with Endeavor but if you don't feel ready to do so no one can force you to use it either" you took his hand in yours, the free one and todoroki felt unfamiliarly warm at it's touch "If you choose to use it or not won't change the fact that you reject him and you can show him that in soany other ways, and I will help you with it whenever you need me to"

You probably weren't going to be strong enought to win the next combat but at least you saw that tiny smile appear again in his face thanks to your words and later, you cheered for him on his fight against bakugo just like he did with you

After thinking it over for a bit, I've decided that I might as well do a proper underrated 3DS game rec list. I'm a bit of an ATLUS junkie and that's gonna be pretty disgustingly apparent in this list, but it's not my fault that they released hit after hit and all of them were duly ignored.

Due to tumblr's 10 image limit (and my struggle to keep motivated to do one thing for more than three hours) I'm definitely gonna have to break this up into parts and I'm fairly certain one of these lists is just gonna be MegaTen games lmao but I'd like to let people know about these excellent titles and see if I can't at least get people interested in them so they can get more traction.

So, without further ado:

Some 3DS Games that were criminally slept on (part 1)

Monster Hunter Stories

God, where do I begin with this game. Well, the basics: It's a JRPG spinoff title of the now widely successful and popular Monster Hunter series featuring a different take on interacting with the varied and intricate monsters populating the world: Riders.

Yep, instead of hunting the beasties, you play as a young rider who's completed their intiation ritual and can now bond with 'Monsties' as they've cutely labelled the usually ferocious monsters of the wilds. The great thing is that you still fight Monsters--tons of them in fact but this isn't a paid review and in my humble opinion, the most impressive thing about this game is the visual style. The landscapes, the armour, the way they redesigned and 3DS-ified the classically hyper realistic and monstrous beasts to not only be absolutely adorable but still capable of being intimidating when the time calls for it, the stellar animation of special moves and combination attacks--it's delicious, nutritious, stupendous, I can and will consume it like it's part of my recommended caloric intake.

It's very akin to Pokemon in the way its basic gameplay premise is set up, however, instead of catching--or even indeed befriending--the Monsties in the game, you rummage through their nests and steal their eggs, later hatching them and getting yourself a brand new lightly kidnapped monster pal!

Other general things about the game:

Pros:

The armour and weapon sets for both male and female characters slap along with the general character customisation options. They're incredibly diverse (though limited in body type) and you can switch around traits and features whenever you want from your house.

The POGS--these porkers are everywhere and they serve as tiny little achievements for exploring every odd and end of the world. Also they have little outfits. They're so cute. 🥺🥺

You can actually ride the Monsties. All of em. Or, at least the ones that you have available to be your buddies. They all have exploration skills and traits that not only make exploring much more interesting but encourage you to swap out your active Monstie and play around with your options a bit.

Y'all breeding Monsties is complicated and I live for just how intense and ridiculous you can get with optimal builds for these things.

The story is really competently put together! The characters, character designs and even the internal conflict with your starting trio of characters is really compelling along with the mystery of the blight that's infecting Monsters across the world. It's not anything worth awards but it's compelling and it makes you care about the characters if that's what you're in the market for.

Amazing sound design, expansive world, everything about the presentation of this game oozes that Monster Hunter charm even if the art is cutesier than usual. You'll never get bored of its stellar visual presentation!

Available for around twenty quid on the Google Play store, so if you want, you could actually get the full game on your smartphone or tablet. Note though that it would be a battery nuker.

Cons:

If you're on a regular 3DS, frame rate drops are a given. This game kinda pushes the visual capabilities of the 3DS to its absolute limit--a lot like Okamiden did back on the DS.

One save file :( It's pretty much for the same reason as above but still.

If you're playing as the girl, you can't get male armour and vice versa. Since there's only one save file, you'll never be able to have all of the armour sets in a single playthrough and that's criminal because both of the sets for the genders are absolutely breath-taking, thank you.

I 👏can't 👏make👏my👏 own 👏Palico👏

Multi-player for this game is pretty dead seeing as it's almost five years old by now and never got much press or traction. Usually this wouldn't be an issue - this game is 99% singleplayer and you don't really need to fuss about with multi-player to have fun, but if you want to collect all the Monsties, you'll need it since the only way to get Glavenus is through pvp achievements. :/

Final thoughts: Play it if you find yourself getting tired or disappointed with 3DS Pokemon games but still want something that feels as fantastical as Pokemon. It outshines the 3DS Pokemon games at every turn and I will never be over just how thoughtfully put together and fully realised these games are. Of course, if you've ever played Monster Hunter, then you know just how intensive these games are with the lore, biology, cultures and world of their Monsters but seeing that translated into JRPG format was just very sobering and it's a game that, to this day, continues to awe me with just how much love and attention went into it.

Last note: If you're still unsure about it, there's a demo available on the e-shop of the 3DS that allows you to play through the entire initial area of the game. Your data does carry through to the full release and to give you an idea of how much I've been able to squeeze out of it - my playtime for that demo is currently sitting at 22 hours. Make sure to get a hold of that Cyan-Kut-Ku!

7th Dragon III Code: VFD

The title may sound intimidating but the premise is not! A mysterious disease called Dragon Sickness spread by the Dragonsbane flowers that have cropped up all around the world. You and your team are recruited by the Nodens game company after you display extraordinary prowess in their hit virtual reality game 7th Encount. As you go through the adventure, you are tasked with finding out the truth behind the Dragon Sickness and asked to stop both it and the Dragons that are destroying the world.

This game is fun. It's another turn-based JRPG however, in this game you create all of your characters yourself from the myriad of classes available to you from the jump. Different classes of course have very different specialisations - Samurai focus on high powered cutting damage with their swords, Duelists are summoners who can influence the element of the battlefield as well as summon monsters from each element, Agents can hack into your enemies and inflict a barrage of nasty ailments, just to name a few - and you are given three teams of three characters each to experiment with different team comps and find the balance that works for you. There's also a wide variety of Dragons to hunt and kill in the game, which directly affects how infected your world is with the Dragon Sickness causing Dragonsbane. Along the way you will also come into contact with many interesting characters, concepts and confrontations that will make the task of saving the world all the more imperative.

Pros

1. The character creator and differing classes give way for tons of experimenting and playing around with your own unique approach to combat and carrying out your missions. Granted, 'character creation' is generous, it's little more than palatte swaps but the classes are really where VFD shines. Eight main classes may not sound like a lot, but the expaniveness of the character skills, their synergy with their fellow classes and the uniqueness of some of the classes in and of itself allows for so much flexibility and creativity in approaches to even tougher bosses. It also encourages the switching about of your party members to really finagle with the options available to you.

2. God this game is pretty. The locations, the character art, the creature design - all of it is gorgeous and this game capitalises on every bit of the 3DS's presentation limitations as it can.

3. You can romance anything and everyone - yes, you can even be gay/lesbian/poly in this game. In fact, one of the main characters - Julietta - is gnc and he's a constant source of joy as well one of my personal favourite characters, right behind Yuma.

4. Exploration is very very forgiving as the game has healing spots and teleport nodes all over the world to allow for quick, seamless travel between quest points without feeling like anything is too much of a hassle. There are also special enemies that allow for quick grinding as well as quick farming of money. In general, the game does a really good job of making sure that the grind is never unbearable or inconsiderate of your time.

Cons:

1. This is the fourth game in a series the West has never seen any other title for, and from the looks of it, will probably never see any other titles for. Because of that, there are some elements that may seem confusing or revelations in the plot that may seem to come out of nowhere.

2. While the visuals are great, the OST of this one is pretty short making for a lot of reused soundtracks that can get really annoying if you're like me and need your audio to be interesting or consistent so it doesn't distract you too much.

3. This one isn't really a con but it is divisive: This game gets pretty difficult at times. A few of the main dragon enemies including and especially the final boss can give you a serious run for your money in the annoy-o-meter in terms of the kind of absolute JRPG fuckery they can pull out of their magic bag of bullshit movesets and while I generally enjoy that kind of thing, I know it's not for everyone. Most regular combat shouldn't be too tricky once you have a team comp that works well together but you also need to pay attention since the same team that carries you to victory one time might be worth beans against another dragon.

Final thoughts: This is... a really good game. Interesting story, really interesting characters, pretty world and a battle system that really makes you sit down and think. There's also a demo for this available in the e-shop and while your data doesn't carry over - you do receive multiple perks for carrying over your demo data including some exclusive items that, while not game breaking, do help a ton in the early stages of the game.

This isn't a final list by any stretch of the word; I only have the energy to do these two right now, but the next games up for coverage are Ever Oasis and Stella Glow! i mean he was the same and managed to become super close with over half of his class

so he would be intrigued by you for sure

you would be an asset in training since you’re both smart and responsible, things he believes are very important

if you two were to be partnered up i think you would vibe really well together, plus he would compliment your skills in his own way for sure

giving you a few reassuring or impressed nods every so often, or once you complete a mission telling you that you did well

it would take a bit longer than most for you two to eventually hang out with just the two of you, since fumi can get a little unsure of himself and not want to pressure you

but when you’re in group settings, he’ll gradually gravitate towards you even if he doesn’t strike up a conversation right away

you’d help him come out of his shell for sure though, even when dark shadow comes out sometimes and tries to blurt out his interest

in which fumi most certainly gets embarrassed

he does eventually ask you to hang out though, but gets very nervous when he realises you’ve agreed to the suggestion of his room

what if you think he’s weird? that his room is too dark? too creepy?

but once he realises what your likes are, he would definitely feel more relaxed

would likely spend the day just sitting around with you and talking, since this would be the first time he gets to have your full attention

it makes him realise that he definitely likes you more than he does others, which does enough to ruffle his feathers a bit hehe

when you bring up your hobbies he’s most definitely interested, even asks if he could observe while you partake in one out of genuine curiousity

if you agree he would be very sweet about the whole thing, even brining you supplies if you need them or items to help with inspiration

he’d give you space while you worked for sure, maybe even bring a book or notes to go over so you don’t feel pressured under his gaze

but he can’t seem to help himself, his eyes trailing over more often than he’d like to admit and admiring you work

the thing he enjoys most is how comfortable he can be around you, even allowing himself to goof off every so often which is a rarity

he does have to end up focusing on the control of dark shadow pre confessing to you though, cause we been knew that entity of his would spill every secret fumi has given the chance

if there’s to be any affection between the two of you he’s as polite as ever, constantly asking if it’s okay and making sure you’re happy

he’s just a sweetheart pls love him

bonus scenario

entering your room unannounced which has becoming a new point in the relationship you both had, tokoyami is quiet in his approach to you when he sees that you’re hard at work writing. he makes no point to disturb you, deciding instead to at least make his presence known before settling in to observe you as he often does.

his hands go to your shoulders gently to get your attention, before going around them to bring you into his embrace. “working hard i see, love?” he asks you, heartbeat quickening as you smile at him. the petnames were something that just came naturally to him, so there was a large amount of relief and want to do it more when he realised you enjoyed them too.

settling in behind you, his back is now up against the wall on your bed while you’re sat between his legs. his hands remain in his own sight, either opting for playing with your hair to running them along your limbs. if you turn to give him attention then chances are he’ll coo at you, something you’ve noticed he does when he’s happy. every exchange between you both is as wholesome as it was in the beginning, basking in each others presence and the happiness you hold within it.

Umm I'm also a huge fan of your writing and ghost!Shane is everything to me, so if you feel like writing another prompt, I was discussing this idea with a fellow Shyan fan and would love to see it brought to life! Basically Ryan is a paranormal detective investigating a very famous paranormal hot spot, and Shane is a ghost who just wants some attention. Hijinks ensue. Bonus points if Shane argues about ghosts while he's a ghost ("it's just the wind," his disembodied voice says 😂)

“It’s okay, Ryan, you’re gonna be okay, ghosts can’t hurt you,” Ryan says to himself. He’s shaking, and it’s not from the wind; even though Philadelphia is cold, Ryan’s trembling stems from being scared shitless in this jail cell. Ryan’s gonna have a word with whoever sent him to Eastern State Penitentiary if he ever gets out of here.

“I mean, ghosts can’t hurt you physically… but emotionally? I can insult you all I want,” a voice says. Ryan turns around, shining his flashlight every which way in an attempt to find the source of the noise.

“Don’t worry, it’s just the wind! Ghosts aren’t real,” the voice continues.

“Who’s there?” Ryan calls, mustering up all of his bravery. He shines his flashlight near the bars of the cell, but he doesn’t have very much room to move because of the lack of space.

“Oh you know, Al Capone,” the voice says with a strange lilt. It’s almost like the voice is mocking Ryan.

“Where are you?” Ryan asks. The panic is settling it at this point. He figures it’s best if he knows his proximity to (Al?) whatever this thing may be. Besides, it doesn’t hurt to ask, especially since this ghost seems so chatty.

“Right in front of you.” Suddenly, as if from nowhere, a translucent manifestation of a person is standing right in front of him.

“No offense, but you look nothing like how I imagined Al Capone to look,” Ryan says, lowering his flashlight. The ghost laughs, and Ryan’s fear slowly ebbs away. A ghost wouldn’t laugh at his joke if it had malicious intent, right?

“Thanks,” the ghost says dryly.

Ryan shines his flashlight right up to the ghostly figure’s face. It’s a very nice face. “What are you doing here?”

“I’m living out the rest of my existence in this shitty cell. Or at least, I was, until you came along. Who are you, anyway?” the ghost asks him.

“My name’s Ryan. I’m a paranormal detective,” Ryan answers. The ghost perks up at that.

“Wait, can you bring me back?” the ghost asks. It sounds….desperate?

“What do you mean, bring you back? Like, bring you back to life?” Ryan replies. He’s shocked; does he have that ability? Is that even possible?

“No, like bring me back a soda. Yes, bring me back to life,” the ghost says, exasperated. Ryan just raises an eyebrow.

The ghost steps closer to him, hands on Ryan’s shoulders. They get colder the longer the ghost has his hands on Ryan, but Ryan is too stunned to move. He’s no longer afraid of this ghost; why would a ghost be pleading with him? A part of Ryan really wants to hear this ghost out.

“I wasn’t supposed to die,” the ghost continues. “When I was alive, they locked me up in here, but I was innocent! I was framed!” The ghost sounds slightly hysterical.

“Dude, that sucks,” Ryan says, backing away from ghost to get away from the cold. He doesn’t know what to do or how to help.

“Nah, I’m just joshing you. I’ve gotta work on my acting skills if I’m ever gonna make it in Hollywood, you know?” the ghost replies.

Okay, what? First this ghost scares Ryan out of his mind, and then he lies about being framed? What is going on here? Nothing in his research is making sense with what the ghost is telling him, except for Al Capone, but even then, Hollywood has nothing to do with anything.

“Uh, I don’t know what’s going on here but I’m gonna leave,” Ryan says, backing away slowly.

“But Ryan!! Pay attention to meeee,” the ghost says, whining.

Ryan just sighs. “Ghost, look -”

“Call me Shane.”

Ryan sighs again. “Shane, look, I’ve got a job to do. I know you’re dead and that really freakin’ sucks but man, I’ve gotta investigate!”

“Let me help you, then. I haven’t been out of this cell in centuries,” Shane says.

“Uh, alright, I guess,” Ryan says. “Lead the way.”

The ghost goes through the cell bars, which makes Ryan smile. That is, until the cell bars get stuck, which results in a mini freak out until he manages to get the bars open.

They walk down a long hallway, Ryan jumping every so often at whatever peculiar sounds reach his ears. He hears a rat scuttling across the floor, he hears footsteps above him, and he freaks out. Shane, however, is largely unresponsive. He just waits patiently until Ryan is done freaking out, and then they venture forth into the heart of the jail.

“So, uh -” Whatever Ryan was going to say next is interrupted by a force slamming into him. He falls to the ground, the flashlight falling out of his hand and rolling away. “What the fuck, what was that?” he asks, but Shane’s on it immediately.

“It’s a demon, but relax,” Shane says, gearing up to fight the creature.

“What do you mean relax?” Ryan shouts. He watches, terrified, as Shane somehow fends the demon away. Ryan looks at him incredulously.

“What? I’m a supernatural being, Ryan, don’t look so surprised!” Shane says.

“But you can fight off demons? I’ve never ever heard of a ghost doing that,” Ryan says. He picks himself back up and dusts himself off.

“Maybe I’m just magical. I’m the first magical ghost in existence, tell that to your team! I’m sure you and other paranormal investigators will love to hear it,” Shane replies.

Ryan narrows his eyes. Magical ghost or not, there’s something decidedly….different about Shane. Maybe it’s the fact that his ghost is only semi-transparent, like he doesn’t fully belong in this world…

“Tell me the truth this time. Who are you?” Ryan asks.

“Wow, not even a thank you? I saved your life and you’re still interrogating me? How rude! I guess I’ll just leave you for dead next time,” Shane says with a smile.

Ryan just rolls his eyes. “If you’re not going to be serious then I’m leaving.”

“No, wait, I’m sorry, I’ll tell you,” Shane says. “I used to work here before I died, and I’m a park ranger on the side. There was some kind of accident at work, I don’t really remember. One minute, I was doing my park ranger duties, and the next, I’m here in this musty old prison. Guess I died on the way to hospital, or something.”

Ryan shakes his head. “There’s been no recent deaths reported here or in the surrounding area,” he replies, going through the facts in his head. He would’ve known if someone would’ve died here, his team would have told him. Unless there was a lapse in judgement or someone forgot to cross reference sources, that is, but usually the research department is pretty thorough.

“But, I’m sure I died! I’m almost positive that’s how I got here,” Shane says. Ryan just nods, thinking. Maybe Shane isn’t dead after all! Maybe he has just enough supernatural energy to fend off demons, but not enough to completely pass onto the other side…

“Do you know what hospital you were taken to?” Ryan asks. Shane shakes his head. “Well, looks like I’m going to be visiting every hospital in town until I find you.”

“Oh, so you’re just going to leave me here? Alone, in this dank ass cell? With no one to talk to or give me attention? I’m honestly offended,” Shane’s ghost hollers, getting louder as Ryan leaves.

Ryan goes to the general hospital first. He figures that there will be less people, but then again, he doesn’t know how badly Shane’s injuries are. If he gets there in time, though, maybe he can reconnect Shane’s body and his spirit! Not that he knows how to do that, of course, but there’s a first time for everything and there’s probably plenty of articles online for him to look at.

Thankfully, Ryan’s right the first time. There is in fact a Shane at the hospital he visits, and he’s let into Shane’s hospital room almost immediately. He pulls up a chair and starts talking, a little bit awkward.

“Hey, so my name’s Ryan. I met your ghost at the Penitentiary and, well, you weren’t the happiest of ghosts out there. Sarcastic, sure, but there was something off about you. Thanks for saving my life, by the way. That was nice of you…” Ryan trails off, unsure. “Uh, I know you can’t hear me, because your nurse told me you’re in a coma, but I just came by to tell you to stay strong and, uh, I hope your ghost gets out of jail.” He’s silent, then, listening to the steady beep, beep, beep, of the heart monitor.

“I, uh, wanted to try to connect your spirit back to your body but I’m not exactly sure how that’s going to pan out, so bear with me?” Ryan fumbles for his phone and starts looking up how to reconnect a spirit to it’s body and then he performs the necessary rituals, which are a lot simpler than he thought they were.

When Shane doesn’t immediately respond, Ryan is pretty dejected, but at least he could say he tried. With a sigh, he exits Shane’s hospital room.

Shane’s eyes open the same instance the door closes.
