i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

#i often wonder about how many things would be considered classic or high art had they only received the marketing #how many short films that were made for class could have been the most powerful thing you'd ever seen? if you'd seen them?#“you know the greatest films of all time were never made” etc etc #but like. these works of art ARE being made. it's just enjoyed by a smaller audience with equal impact though #i think about this one furry i used to follow on insta who had the coolest worldbuilding ever. it's been years.#thought prompted by that sketch of nimona from ten years ago that was just for a character design #posted to the creator's tumblr and now it's nominated for best animated feature film at the oscars #and by the genuine emotional reaction a fan comic made me feel. how much work had gone into it. how beautiful it was to me.#idk what to tag this but i hope whoever needs to hear it does #writing #writer #fandom #fandom culture #artist

A love letter to those who create

I ramble half incoherently on here for the hope that someone comes across my posts and thinks ‘wow they’re off their rockers but holy shit they have a point’ and something in them changes just a little. I know one post isn’t going to change anyone’s life or perspective. Which is WHY i post so much. Maybe I don’t get on some random person’s dashboard more than once. But a few writers or people out there read my posts, and regardless of whether or not it stood out to them, it changed them. Just a little, and that’s enough for me. I hope one day by writing so much, I change a lot of people, and hopefully at least a few i change by a lot. It’s not a question of can I do something that would completely change the industry or genre of books, its can I help people with stuff i’ve struggled on. It’s can I be that one post someone thinks about while writing occasional, thinking back to MY advice. Even if i have no idea what I’m doing for most other things. I know I can write something new and quite different with time and motivation, but in the meantime, I can share my thoughts and ideas as I go through them. Even if they change. Because I love creativity and creating and most of all. Creators. I love you all, and i love being one.

Summary: Running errands with his mother always ends up more complicated than it should be.

Sneak Peek

Sesshoumaru sighed as his mother puttered around the flower shop. These errands always took forever, as she was indecisive about which bloom she wanted.

“Izayoi will not care which flower you bring, Mother,” he said, leaning against the counter.

“That is not the point, dear son,” she replied, waving him off as she passed a bouquet of lilies, making a face at their strong scent. “The gift must be chosen with care so as to communicate vivacity and charm. Plus, her sense of smell has been heightened due to the pregnancy.”

“I will never understand how you are able to get along with her so well. She is the reason Father left you.”

Kimiko sighed. “I have told you; my alliance with your father was in name only, forced upon both of us for the sake of council. We were not even truly mated.”

“He has chosen a human spouse.”

“He fell in love, pup. Something I hope you will do someday.” She tugged on his tie, then flipped it over his shoulder as she walked by. “And when you find them, they force you to loosen up.”

April bingo cards are on the way!

For the month of April I will be posting the Bingo card along with the goal for each week.

Week 1(4/3-4/9): A Traditional bingo

Week 2(4/10-4/16): Four corners (and the middle)

Week 3(4/17-4/23): A Double Bingo

Week 4(4/24-4/30): Blackout!

That being said, I wanted to quickly go over a couple things you can expect. Some of the prompts on the bingo card will be dialogue prompts, some will be a scenario or item, they might even just be a standard prompt.

*There may be a prompt does use Mx in place of Mr or Mrs so that you can choose.* The way this is set up was to try and balance each week while striving for to not make one week *blackout* harder than the rest. Unfortunately that made week 3 have potentially the largest amount to complete if you tackle this only doing the prompts as they come for the bingo specifically.

There is also the choice to participate in partial or as you decide, the goal is to get you creating and to have a good time.

And as always, I hope you will tag me or reblog the bingo card so I can check out what you come up with, I wanna see you all succeed at what you put your minds to.

How it works: Writers, artists and video editors of the Marauders fandom will create non-profit drabbles, sketches and edits in return for donations to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. Once proof of donation is sent, your prompt will then be assigned to a writer/artist/editor to fulfill at random. The fics will be posted to the Ao3 collection Marauders With Palestine Project, while the sketches and edits will be posted to the creator’s own accounts.

Schedule:

Writer/artist volunteer sign up: March 11th - March 31st

Donation proof and prompt submissions: April 1st - April 22nd

Prompt assignment: April 23rd - April 31st

Writing and drawing: May 1st - May 31st

Answered prompts and posting will happen starting June 1st

General Rules:

Each contributor can donate more than once, but they’ll only be allowed to submit a maximum of three prompts, no matter their donation size.

Proof of donation is required for the prompts to be accepted and added to the list. 5 USD is the required minimum for SFW prompts, and 8 USD for NSFW prompts.

NSFW prompts can only be submitted by 18+ contributors and will be assigned to 18+ volunteers only.

Prompts need to be worded clearly to avoid confusion, and they can’t include more than four Marauders era characters. Contributors can specify if they prefer a fic or a drawing, but the final product will depend on availability and may change. Prompts will be assigned randomly.

The prompts may not contain: religious material, gore, explicit violence, incest, or non-con. Dead dove prompts are not allowed and hateful or politically inclined prompts will be automatically deleted.

*This project is entirely non-profit and all money contributed by those who submit prompts is sent directly to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

For volunteers: Everyone is welcome!

For writers: fics must be a minimum of 3k words and you must have an Ao3 account to post them to the Marauders For Palestine Project collection. The works must be completely independent from any other works, and while they can be multichapter fics, they have to be published all in one go.

For artists; your contribution may be a drawing or doodle. Sketches are welcome, but there’s no need for background.

For video editors: your video may be longer than 15 seconds.

Everyone from all corners of MCYTblr are welcome to participate. No matter how large or small your favorite SMP or creator is, there is a space for everyone.

Many fandom events focus on providing tasks for artists and writers, but very little are made with the people who enjoy and appreciate that work in mind as participants. Lurkers and enjoyers and love posters are just as important to the fandom, so this is a space for us to do our thing and spread the love 💗

How to Participate

There will be 3 kinds of planned activities hosted on this blog, but there is no single correct way to participate, as long you’re uplifting others. The activities and prompts are meant to be a guideline and source of inspiration. You don’t have to burn yourself out by participating every day or in every activity.

Keep this space positive and abide by standard fandom etiquette. Be mindful of tags and if you don’t think you’ll like a work, don’t click and read it!

Share the love; one goal of this challenge is to help authors who’ve been overlooked feel appreciated for their contribution to the fandom. If you’re up to it, try and use this challenge as a way to break from your comfort zone and uplift others who you haven’t seen get any attention yet.

Note: This doesn’t mean to not send love to any ‘bigger authors’ whose work you admire, and we are not entertaining any discourse related to the size of one’s following.

Reading and Recommendation Challenge

Find a fic that fits the theme of the day and give it a read/comment! Then if you’re up for it, share the recommendation in a post on tumblr and use the event tag. You can make individual posts for each day, or create a wrap-up at the end of the week.

It is both allowed and encouraged to engage with fics whose authors don’t have any linked social media presence. This is not exclusive to authors on tumblr.

January 21st (Day 1: Something New)

Read and comment on a fic written by an author whose work you’ve never commented on before

January 22nd (Day 2: Hidden Gems)

Read and comment on a fic that currently has no comments

Or, feel free to share and recommend a fic whose only comment is your own

January 23rd (Day 3: Underrated Blorbos)

Read and comment on a fic centered on a character of whom you’ve never read as a main POV (the less fics the character is tagged in, the better!)

January 24th (Day 4: Rarepair Extravaganza)

Read and comment on a fic with a character relationship tag (that’s central to the fic, no cheating with ensembles!) that has less than 500 tagged works

For fandoms with <1000 works, use 50 tagged works as a threshold (or your best judgment)

For fandoms with <100 works, use 5 tagged works as a threshold (or your best judgment)

Can be either romantic (using the “/”) or platonic (using the “&”)

January 25th (Day 5: A Blast from the Past)

Read and comment on a fic that was last updated before 2023 (complete or in progress!)

January 26th (Day 6: Canon? Who is she?)

Read and comment on a fic with any ‘Alternate Universe’ tag of your choosing

Canon divergent fics or split timelines count!

January 27th (Day 7: Procrastination Termination)

Read and comment on a fic that you’ve had ‘saved for later’ or opened in a new tab but never got to reading

Or, finish catching up to a multichapter fic that you fell behind on and comment on it

Hide and Seek

For the @magicalmonthlyprompts August 2022 prompts!

Isolation, Protection from nightmares, Poppy (calmness, luxury), Gladiolus (strength of character), "Just breathe."

Summary: Kagome finds a den that proves to be a lovely escape from the village and her responsibilities therein, not realizing that it actually belongs to someone she knows.

Sneak Peek

It started as happenstance, a place she'd taken shelter from during a sudden storm. The rain never bothered her, but the lightning flashing across the sky had made her wary, and she'd been forced into the nearest cave.

Or what she'd assumed was a cave.

Kagome had ventured a little further in and had realized that the space actually belonged to someone. There had been a small firepit, as well as a basket of fruit, proving that the owner had only recently vacated the premises.

The lush pile of furs in the back had her settling in for the night instead of waiting at the mouth of the cave. She'd been on her way back to the village after disposing of a nasty worm youkai poisoning the villagers' soil and had planned on collapsing on her futon as soon as she made it inside her hut.

The furs had been so inviting, the scent of earth and pine lulling her into a deep, restful sleep as soon as she'd laid down. She'd expected to be jarred awake by the den's owner, but as morning dawned bright and clear, there had been no indication of anyone but herself being there during the night.

And so, she'd left, noting where the cave was, but assuming she'd never be back.
