The way that older Yoshiki chalked up Cawson’s death to just ‘a thing that happens’. Like this isn’t child Yoshiki’s take on the whole thing; this is how Yoshiki currently views it: an unavoidable thing that happens. And while death can just happen, sometimes there’s a root cause and here, there is one. Cawson didn’t just randomly drop dead. He starved. He starved because he was dependent on them and they neglected him because they had both no idea how to take care of a bird nor the responsibility to maintain consistent care.
Yoshiki hasn’t even wondered how hikaru died yet. We never see him really wonder why hikaru was on the mountain, or what he was doing, or even what killed him. For him, Hikaru just happened to die.
But hikaru didn’t just happen to die. He died because he was put up on that mountain by people punishing him for a crime he never committed, something they may not have even fully explained to him with how dodgy everyone is about the village history. He died because he trusted the adults around him. He died because he was made to fit a role he couldn’t fulfill, and when he died, everyone chalked it up to a thing that happens.

There's a level of Hell that Constantine loves and hates in equal measure.
The Level of Lust and Debauchery.
He loves it for what it is, but he also really, really hates it. The beings in it are unhinged at best, completely insane at worst. Stronger than Demons, but weaker than Gods-it's always more stressful than fun dealing with them.
So needing to summon the King of that level is...well. John can already feel the exhaustion.
But instead of exhaustion, he feel rage. Disgust.
The King that shimmers into existence is a fucking child.
And John honestly loses some time after that.
He comes back from ranting with the tiny King forcefully yanking him to a stop.
"Wait, you thought the Infinite Realms were what?"
Turns out, that wasn't the Level of Lust and Debauchery at all. Turns out, the Infinite Realms has a Red Light District.
Turns out, that is a very, very small part of the Infinite Realms, and this tiny child King had no idea it was there, and now he has to explain what a Red Light District is to an increasingly mortified Royal Teenager.
All around, it's not a fun time for anyone present.

can we talk about Phil and Jaiden today and their interactions after Jaiden finally shows her wings because I’m going crazy.
Jaiden showing off her wings for the first time to Phil, and Phil both happy for her and also insanely jealous, because why did she get to keep her wings, while his got clipped so badly he needs his backpack to counterbalance the weight he lost - or at least the weight he looses having to keep them close to his back.
and the whole time they’re talking in a group, hanging around spawn, Jaiden is perched somewhere above the group. up in a tree, moving from branch to branch, or against the wall, or right on the top of that lamppost. Phil, on the other hand, stays sat on the bench the entire time. grounded.
and every time Jaiden hops from perch to perch, he looks specifically at her. zooms in whiles she’s sat on the lamppost even as he continues conversation. its such a small detail but really helps punch in just how much Philza can’t let it go, can’t stop wishing that he could do the same.

Something about the fact that these shots are all grouped together, one after another, visually giving them equal weight just gets me. The narrative knows what's going to happen between JGY and Huaisang at this point, knows how it's going to treat JGY at the end of everything. And it still takes time to show Meng Yao instinctively and immediately going in front of Huaisang and Huaisang instinctively and immediately hiding behind him. It takes the time--literally, showed it in the background and focused on it with the same general amount of time as the other shots--to show that this act of protection and trust are just as real and true as Jiang Cheng defending his sister, as Wen Qing defending her younger brother.
Like, I dunno! There are other Nie juniors there! They have swords and shit! Huaisang could have gone and hid behind the wall, but he hid behind Meng Yao! And Meng Yao could have moved back with Huaisang, but he steps directly in front of him!
There's a lot CQL did to JGY's character and narrative that I don't like and that flatten or just straight up erase his full complexity. But I really appreciate the lengths that it went to in Episode 4 to explicitly tell us that he does not hesitate to protect Huaisang, even though at this point he does not have a sword and definitely does not have anywhere near the same cultivation power (if any) as any of the rest of the people in the room.
Right now, after being publicly humiliated, unarmed and definitely outclassed, he is brave. Along with the rest of the characters, he's allowed to be uncomplicatedly young and loyal and just as innocent as any of the other students there.

OKAY it's going to take a while to get to the point with this one but-- de meta time. You see I realised just now that the skua which is referenced throughout the game is a y'know a skua. Like Great Skua skua, like Stercorarius Skua.
And ALRIGHT that might be my bilingual brain that's slow on the uptake (all my bird knowledge is in Danish so forgive me) because perception literally points it out:
Tumblr media
BUT HEY. HEY. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU KNOW WHAT THE GREAT SKUA'S WHOLE DEAL IS BUT IT IS NOT NICE. SO LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE ABOUT THEM BEFORE I GET INTO THE MEAT OF THIS META:
Skuas are a type of predatory bird that primarily lives off of stealing other marine bird's food. Basically they're very good at outmanouvering and bullying other birds until the unsuspecting gull or tern (for an example) drops the fish it had caught. But The Great Skua takes that a step further as the largest of its kind. Becuase it will straight up kill to rob another bird, while also consequently getting the other bird as a meal in the process. Like, killing gulls and puffins are just a regular part of its diet along with the theft.
AND IN CASE THIS ISN'T ALREADY OBVIOUS: THE GREAT SKUA IS AN INSANE BIRD TO HAVE AS A HERALDIC/SYMBOLIC BIRD.
But then I thought; well yes of course the first bird that the nations of Mundi would find as a proof of reality would be the Great Skua. Of course the colonisers would have their first proof of discovering "the New New World" be this bird. Of course the people who after seeing this skua, this living proof that there was more out there to exploit, would then go to other isolas to steal and kill to sustain themselves. Of course the people that established the Suzerain of Revachol, which was (to quote Joyce) "the greatest concentration of wealth mankind has ever seen", would be justified by a Great Skua.
Of course the future foundations of the capitalist world in Elysium would see a skua, the bird that lives of off kelptoparasitism, as their proof of a New New World and new new oppertunities.
And then it only makes sense that The Great Skua became the symbol of the discovery of Insulinde; Mundi's most "promising" steal.

Apparently, the avengers have a game they like to play that Sam invented.
It’s called “Steve or Alpine” and they have to guess who I said what to.
Sam is a dead man

“who are you? i don’t even know your name” “don’t be in such a rush. you will give me a name someday. and i live in terror of that day” / “i’m afraid to turn around. not of your anger, though. i’m afraid i’ll see nobody” / “go on dreaming. when you dream about my likeness you create it” / “when you loved no one you never thought of death” / “give her proof of her love” “shall i?” “kill her before she sees you” “no!” “then kill yourself” “how?” “let her go”
literally who is doing it like them. no one. no one. no one.

AU where Jason went to the Titans Tower to beat the shit out of Robin, not kill him. Tim misunderstands and plans accordingly.
Tim thinks that Red Hood wants to kill him, full stop.
So when Red Hood shows up, the absolute second power gets cut, Tim swallows a slow acting little pill.
He gets into a fight with Red Hood, and just as Red Hood is about to take off his helmet to reveal...something, who cares what, the pill kicks in.
Tim's breathing and heartrate slow to practically nothing.
For all intents and purposes, he's very, very dead.
The pill had a medicine that creates a false state of death, capable of fooling almost anyone if they aren't a Super.
And Jason isn't a Super.
Jason, as far as he is concerned, is now kneeling over the corpse of the latest Robin. A corpse he made.
His biggest mistake.
So he tries to revive the kid, but nothing works. Nothing fucking works.
He knew that going into his Red Hood schtick he'd be turning into a killer, but this was not a death he wanted on his hands.
Then, he makes his second biggest mistake.
He stays too long, trying to revive the kid that stole his mantle.
Nightwing shows up.
Nightwing sees Red Hood, helmet off, crouched over the motionless, beaten body of Robin.
Red Hood gets a fight, alright.
Just not the one he wanted, and with an opponent that is actively attempting to murder him.

Hey quick shoutout to "Rick and Morty" for showing that abusers are people too and are capable of change instead of making them into Sunday cartoon villains with zero depth, or turning them into a precious little baby who did nothing wrong ever, and for putting a traumatized character in therapy instead of stuffing them into a romantic relationship *Cough* Helluva Boss and Spop *Cough*

I find it extremely funny that without the context of season 6 you cannot understand Mumbo’s paranoia about Grian stealing items and K.G.O.O.M.R. in season 7 AT ALL and then when you have the context it all comes together
