Lira Woods pt1 (Chapter 1)
Chapter One
This is a story about a woman named Lira Chanel Johnson. She was a smart-ass, sexual witch. She had long, deep brown hair that she wore in a bun. She always dressed in a sexy, naughty gothic witch outfit, and she didn’t take shit from any one. If you look at her the wrong way, she’d try to beat you up to a bloody pulp. She was from a dark, evil planet called Demish. This world was a wasteland of a place where there was no morning, only a hazy, gloomy, foggy night that lasted all year round.  The Planet that she lived in was more advance more so than Earth was about 2000-3000 years in the future with their high-class technology, but that’s if you were very wealthy. That’s the only way you could every get to these types of products, and if you were poor like Lira for example you were treated like a 2nd class piece of crap. Lira barely had any parenting during her childhood, so mostly she had but not choose to home school on her own. From preschool to second grade, most of the time, she had to teach herself because, on her world, everyone was forced to be homeschooled till the third grade, and they could only stop being homeschooled if they were hand selected. Plus, you had to know the person to even enter the most famous school in Demish named Kensaw Black Evil Witch Boarding School. It was on top of a hillside facing a dangerous ocean. Bats circled around the building with a deadly thunder storm surrounding. Lira had always wanted to go but never had the money or knew anyone that knew the higher power in that school. “I always wonder how I could get into this type of school. Maybe I could ask a rich person to sneak me into this wonderful dark school, but this person will have to be stupid. This person will have to be so dang stupid that he or she would ever think that I am a loyal friend. After I get into Kensaw, I will dump this person without him or her even knowing it. I just must get the dumbest, richest person out there. Can’t be that hard to find one, right?” She headed to the Beaonish Library, which was the only library where one could find out who was rich or poor. The books in this library tracked every living and dead person and was a valuable resource for all the witches. Lira was looking through the pages when she saw a girl named Sorcery. Even though she was as beautiful as Lira, she was also as smart. Sorcery was an upper gothic civil girl, even though she is turning eight in a month, she was as smart as anyone in his or her thirties. “Hmm, it says that this girl has more than four hundred goneins.” Goneins were the currency used on Demish. Four hundred gonines was the equivalent of more than $500 billion US dollars. “Also says she’s the smartest person of her kind. Hmm … maybe I can trick her into being my friend until I finish school then, but what would I do when I get outta there? Maybe I can still use her, even after graduation. Man, I have so many choices that I must face, but I truly need to get into that school because I know they’ll never let some broke bitch like me in there. Well, I can always just go with the flow and see what happens, and hopefully she doesn’t get smart enough that she’ll know that I’m trying to use her, but let me do more research on this school to see what kind of schooling this place may have in store for us, even after graduating outta the twelfth grade.” Lira copied Sorcery’s contact information and found out what she liked to do with her personal time. She, then, tried to think of a plan to scam Sorcery so that she could help Lira get into the best school that money could buy. She never thought it would take so long just to find her, but in her mind, she wished that she had the power to transfer from point A to point B in a second. “Damn! It’s taking a long time to get to her place. It must be hidden, so nobody can find her castle. I wish I had something that would help me on my quest to find her and make her my tool. I must get into this school, so I can be the greatest evil witch slave owner known to man. I have to make sure that she never knows about any of this, and I have to learn how to be a proper and classy young lady, or maybe just brain wash her simple as that.” About five days later, after trying to find Sorcery’s place, she discovered a building that could help her in her quest. It was kind of a GPS system building, and inside was a magical map wizard. “Yes, young one, how can I help you with your long quest? Come closer, my dear. I need to know what you look like because I can’t see but so far, so what is your name, girly, and what did you come here for? If it doesn’t have to deal with finding a person, and then get the fuck out.” the wizard said.  “Well, yes, I need your help finding someone that’s very important to me. See, there’s this girl I need to find that is worth more than gold to me.” “Let me guess, my child. This girl’s name is Sorcery, a beautiful, rich girl, and not just that also a smart person as well. You want to use her, so you can attend that well-known boarding school. This girl may be your ticket to be the best of all the class-act witches. I truly believe you made the best choice with this one, but I truly think you should think very hard about your future.” Lira stopped her dead in her tracks. “Stop talking about all of this bullshit and just tell me where this bastard is, or I swear, on my mother’s grave.” “What? So, you’re going to kill me if I don’t help you? Ha! Ha! Girl, please! You couldn’t even hurt a fly even if it was given to you. Damn! You’re the worse person I’ve ever met. You really need more training before you go any further, my dear.” “You’ve got to be kidding me, your old hag. Now you listen. I don’t need any training from an old bag like you!” “Before I can tell you anything, I must train you because I can see now that you’re not a bit ready to even attend a school like that, you’ll fail after the first year, I can see that now. And I’m saying this just because I know you may get stronger and smarter than Sorcery could ever be. But if you’re a little brat about and don’t want my help, just go home, you just a little homeless brat.” “What in the bloody hell are you talking about your old hag? Are you trying to say I’m not good enough for that goody to shoes rich-ass chick? She couldn’t get passed me if she was the last witch on this planet.” “Yes, I did. What are you going to do about it? Go cry about it? Go run to your mommy?” the older hag replied while floating toward towards Lira’s face. “You know what, your old hag? I know what you’re trying to pull, but it’s not going to work on me at all. Just tell me where this bitch is, or I’ll figure it out for my own damn self!” “Oh, lass, I truly don’t think you really mean that at all. You know that you need my help with this,” she said while Lira walked away. “Oh, Lira, don’t walk away from me. I know that you’ll come back, just like all the others.” “Get the hell outta here, I’m a grown behind woman. I don’t why I thought I needed your help from a stupid old hag as yourself” “Ok. If you feel that way, I’m not going to tell you anything else. Just like I said before, you’ll come back to me and listen to me, or I’ll just be there where you’re at, no matter what. I guess they should’ve told you all about me. I also know this — without me, you won’t know how powerful Sorcery’s background is or how powerful she can get. You are way too smart for your own being, but she can still will outsmart you in every way.” Lira went on her way, trying to find Bradshaw Manor (Sorcery’s home). She was also thinking about what the old lady had told her, that she wasn’t all that ready to be in the school or in life at all, but because of Lira’s hard headedness, and way to stubborn for her own good, she didn’t care what anyone thought about her. She, also, didn’t care what her problems were going to be. At the time, all she cared about was being the best witch and slave driver that ever lived. Oh, yeah, I may not have mentioned it, but, in this witch school, the rules are you couldn’t have a human lover or a mixed witch/mortal human child. That was a crime, in their eyes. It was, also, a sin if a witch did go out with or even married a human. They’d have a difficult future ahead of them if they were caught. She hated the fact that even the school and their world had a stupid way of controlling everyone, and she didn’t like that one bit; she also didn’t care what they truly thought. Whatever Lira wanted was what she always got. It didn’t matter what it cost. That simply did not matter. What she really wanted was a man that acted just like her in every way. She wanted someone who shared her interests, even if it involved murdering someone. She had always loved the smell of fresh blood and flesh. Now after three months of looking, she finally arrives at her place, after breathing so very heavily finally came to her door step. She knew that she had no choice at the last minute that she had to change her clothing, so she wouldn’t look so homeless then maybe Sorcery would be that dumb enough to fall for her tricks. Not just that she also had to sound upscale plus maybe cut down the anger till Lira got to know her. She lied, saying that Sorcery was expecting her and that she had known her for a long time. She told him that it had been a long time since they’d last seen each other. She was worried that Sorcery may not remember her. The butler believed her and let her enter the home, and so did Sorcery. Even in person, Sorcery was the prettiest person ever, but she was not as beautiful as Lira. Sorcery was a classy nerd. She was a different kind of beauty, who was captivating in her own way. No one could ever try to compare her to any other woman because she was in a class by herself. “So, Lira, what brings you to my home? Is there anything that you truly need from me or my folks that you claim to know so well? You know, we’ll do anything for a family member or a close friend?” Sorcery asked while pouring a cup of hot peppermint black tea. “Well, yes, there is. You already know that I don’t have anyone to help me out, but if your parents help me out with my school fare, you know, my parent and I, we’ll pay you back in any way possible. And you, if do this for me, I will be there anytime you need me. With your brains and my personality, Sorcery, we could make the best team. Others would get so damn jealous. So, what do you say?” “I don’t know, Lira. My parents could get a little testy about all of this, and they may have to do some thinking about what we’re doing right now not just that they don’t know you as a person, but I can always ask them about this. I could be wrong, and they may just help you with the funds. We could be strong buddies, and I could show you what my life entails, and you must repay me in another way. But that’s only if you agree with the stuff that I have in store for you, though.” “Sure. You know I’ll do anything to pay you and your folks back for all of this.” “All you have to do is be there for me and help me around the house. And for helping us out, you could stay here for free. How does that sound to you, Lira?” Sorcery explained while facing the fireplace. Her back was facing Lira. Lira got up, stood next to her, and replied, “It sounds great to me, girly.” Sorcery didn’t know that she was making the biggest mistake, one that she would regret later. Sorcery showed Lira the ropes. She taught her how to be a true lady and trained her in everything else that she needed to know before heading to one of the top school that their planet had to offer. After four months, Sorcery told Lira that she was ready to attend school. She told her that she thought she would be a perfect A-list student and that she might even have been able to leave early if she stayed focused like Sorcery did. She also told her that, when they both reached seventeen, they would have to become immortal and carry a book of life and dark magic. They would have to carry this with them no matter what, and if someone destroyed the book or even got caught with a human, they’d turn into a mortal and slowly die less than a week later. They’d turn into dust. This was one of the strictest schools known to man. “This is so damn messed up, Sorcery. Why can’t we do what we want to do? But like I said, with your smarts and my charms and both of our good looks, we may get away with anything we want and what some people only dream of, and when we graduate, we’ll be the best slave masters to those dumb humans, like no one has ever seen before. Maybe we could even kill them if they don’t listen to our demands. We could chop them up into little pieces and eat them while they’re still alive and make them suffer, or is that too much, my dear friend? I don’t want to break any of our school’s rules or our world’s laws.” “Yeah, it does sound like you’re going way too far with this idea. Just take it down a little bit. But I do like one thing that you said. We could be the greatest partners in crime that our world and earth has ever seen. I’ll make sure that no one can ever come between us, no matter what, and I would never let you go at all. I hope you’ll do the same thing.” “You know I would never let a great friend like you go. I’ll always have your back.” Now Lira had Sorcery wrapped around her tiny little finger. She was finally going to the school she’d been dying to go to for so damn long time, even though she had to let Sorcery train her till school started. After each day of training, Lira felt like total hell, but tomorrow was the first day of school, so she had to be ready for that. She should have never let her guard down, no matter what kind of problem that she may have had to face. “Lira, I have to tell you that these classes are very difficult. It’ll get to the point where you’ll wish you were never even born. Trust me. You’re so damn lucky that I’m training you now before it gets any worse, but we may get the worst of them all when we get older, and I truly mean that because they may not tell you that. Plus, like I told you, no soon-to-be immortal witch can ever be with anyone that is outside our race or have a mixed child. We must stay pure, so we don’t get into any trouble, and I also forgot to tell you something that you may want to know. That’s if you want to know because it is very important.” “Yes, I sure would like to know what I have to go against in the present and future.”  “Ok. The thing is, they may not tell you that, when you do go to a new planet, there can only be one witch on each of the eight planets of the universe. If there is more than one witch on that planet, the other witches should kill him or her, so you have to watch your back.” “Oh, please! That’s so damn stupid. Who should care if more than one of us is living there? All I care about is me and only me. Sorry, Sorcery. Also, I want to become a witch and make these humans on Earth my slaves. Nothing. If you want to tell me any different, then ok, but we can’t let these rules bother us if we want to become successful, and if you want to disagree with what I believe, then maybe I shouldn’t have come here at all!” Lira yelled while pacing back and forth. “Ok, Lira, just calm down. We can make it, ok? Just didn’t think all of this would get you so angry. I just don’t want anything to happen to you because I’m your friend. Just please calm down, ok?” “Look, Sorcery. I’m sorry. I just don’t want to be told what to do. It’s not like we’re working for them.” Sorcery didn’t realize the trouble she’d gotten herself into with Lira, meaning she was a hot-tempered person that would do anything to destroy anyone that got in her way if they weren’t careful. It also seemed that Lira’s plans were coming true, and when she reached seventeen and became immortal, when she graduates from the academy with honors. She hoped that she’d meet someone that had a lot in common with her and her actions. She hoped that this person would be a cannibal also. So, it was the first day of attending their lives as students. They had to stay there from the third to the twelfth grade, but they had to live there as always. They also couldn’t have any people coming in to visit, not even their parents, unless the upper witches had something to say about their students misbehaving in their corners. Also, they only had to take four classes in person, and the last three classes could be taken online. Yes, they had technology. After a long day of school and studying at their domes, Sorcery and Lira thought it’d be great to go out into town, just to have fun with a few classmates. “Oh, gosh, Sorcery. I want to make a toast to you and the other classmates here to make our more than eleven years from now the greatest time in our lives. We cannot let anyone stand in our fucking way. We cannot let anyone stop us from doing what we are trying to do.” About five hours of partying, they all went back to their place and went to bed. The next morning, they went to class, but this time it was going to get much harder going forward. “Ok, students, have a seat. I know you guys must have had a great first day, but things aren’t going to be as easy as you may think. The first thing I want to tell you is this class is a black magic class. You will learn everything there is to know about black magic. You will not just read about it, but you will gain a lot of hands on experience. And they may or may not have told you that, if you fail this school from third to twelfth grade, you’ll be kicked out and will never be able to come back ever again, you’ll have the clip till you’re die. But you guys may already have your online classes together, and I’m so sorry that you never got to get your items for the ground courses, but here’s what your future evil witches need. Here are your digital witch books. This is going to be your book even when you guys hit seventeen, but the difference would be they’re going to be updated when you grow older. It depends on how well you do your school work. Oh, yes, this will also be your lifeline when you become immortal. When you turn seventeen, that’s when you graduate. Are there any questions about this course at all?” Sorcery raised her hand. “Yes, I have a question that I know most of the others have. What will this school provide after we graduate? I mean, would you guys tell us what planet we’re supposed to go to?” “That’s a good question. No, you guys are on your own when you turn seventeen. You all will be known as grown witches, not children anymore. Also, you guys will become immortal at the same time with your own books, just make sure you guys don’t cause any harm to it. Even being immortal you’ll will die if your books get damage in any way from fire drowning you’ll start to become mortal, age, then become dust. Any other questions? But for now, I will teach you step by step about black magic, and the others will teach how to make others into your slaves and minions. The others will be more difficult than the rest. Most may show you shape shifting to anything that you want, but mostly your inner demon. You’ll learn serious shape-shifting from ninth grade to twelfth grade, but if you learn it sooner, you may graduate earlier than the others. That is if you do it right or if you are at the head of your class. Then, you will graduate early with top honors. Now open your black magic books to the first chapter. We’re going to read all about them and what you need to do in all day things. What I want you guys to do now is make something appear on your tables. It could be anything. A dragon … a dark beast frog … whatever you can come up with. The way that you are supposed to do it can be found in your book.” Everyone did well. Of course, Sorcery and Lira had the greatest dragon. It was better than any witch had ever made before. “Yes. This is what I’m talking about. Great evil job, Lira and Sorcery. You ladies must’ve done your homework. Maybe you other students should learn from them. Then maybe you would be as great as them, but you guys will get there. No worries. It’s just the beginning, but like I said, you guys should’ve already known the basics of evil witchcraft before you guys entered this building. This is kind of like someone who is in the middle class of knowledge of black magic, but it’s ok. Like I said, most of this stuff is going to be harder and brand new to most of you because I know whomever home schooled you all didn’t have the digital things that your newbies have now. We had to do so by our books, and we really struggle with our magic, like no other witch has before, and hopefully it did work, and if we failed, hopefully we had enough items to do it once again. But we do need to get on with it because class is about to be over soon, so let’s just wrap things up for now … till tomorrow. I’ll just let you guys out early. Well, before class ends, I want you guys to answer this question, and you should know this answer from your basic books from home. What happens when you see a human, and she tries not to obey your orders?” “I could tell you that, Miss Kulsum. The answer to that true powers. Do a sneak attack and brainwash the human to the point that she becomes your slave or minion.” Miss Kulsum was one of those crazy types of teachers at the time, and, she was so but beyond ugly at the same time, but she knew what she was talking about. I guess because she had the evilest look towards her with her fucked hair, messed up makeup also the way she gave her speech about giving us lessons about slaving others in your bidding. But I could’ve done a lot better at it that’s just me though. “Wow! Great answer, Lira. You get an A for today. Oh, yeah. Before your next class, I’m going to pass out a paper that will give information about your first project. I know its way too early for a project now, but I want you to do it. I want you guys to team up in groups of twos, and its due in two months. I want Sorcery and Lira to team up because I know you guys will put on a great show, and I hope you guys learn from them and make sure to ask me or these two how black magic is really done. They may have beauty, but they also have a lot of knowledge.” The castle bell rang. “Ok, class, I hope you guys fare well till tomorrow. We will talk more about the project and what you need to do. Oh, yes! Your homework will be to read your books and practice on your black magic because, like they say, “practice makes perfect.” “Oh, Lira, I forgot to mention that this school lets us have long breaks between classes, meaning we don’t have to be on time for the next class, so maybe we could get something to eat.” “Sure. Why not? Maybe we could have some tea and some spider soup at that oh-so-world-famous café. I think the name is Jomiah Café, if I’m correct.” “I love that café. They have the tastiest foods coffee and tea in town. No one can beat them.” After having lunch and tea, they went over their projects and wanted to know what they were going to do. Then they went to the rest of their classes. In their other classes, they learned how to make more humans their slaves and their minions. They worked on their project for two months. When it was time to present it, they presented the greatest black magic show that the school had ever seen. The magic was going to be so grand that’ll blow their socks off “Lira, I think we got this in the bag, and I know we could make these other guys and girls so dang on jealous my dear. We’re going to get the best grade ever.” “Well, maybe but I may do something at the end. I should’ve told you earlier, but sometimes I make my money by being a street performer, meaning I do little tricks like this, so this doesn’t faze me at all. Trust me. We’ll make those teachers and students see something they’ve never seen before, and maybe just maybe, we can leave early but still walk in with our class. Maybe we can make that trip to Earth. I heard of this place called New York City, New York in America. Maybe we could go there. What do you say about that, Sorcery?” Lira asked. “I don’t know, Lira. It seems way too early to even say, but hey, I wouldn’t mind of going. Maybe it could be our graduation gift to ourselves, but, Lira, I want to make sure that you don’t have any weird issues while we’re in the human world,” she replied. “Of course not, my dear. You know I wouldn’t do anything to embarrass you. What kind of friend would I be if I ever did that to you? I love you way too much, Sorcery, and you know that for a fact.” Lira gave Sorcery a hug. While they hugged, Sorcery had an evil grin on her face. “I’m so glad that you’re a loyal friend, Lira. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you, girl. You mean the world to me.” “I feel the same way about you, my dear.” Now it was finally their day to show off their projects during the school’s black magic fair. It was kind of like the science fairs that humans have. But this one, instead of being indoors, was outside. One by one, all the students in the first-period class showed off their creations. Many thought they had done ok until Sorcery and Lira were called to show off their amazing work to the whole school to see. The head council or head of state, which was more powerful than the rest, was who commanded Sorcery and Lira to show everyone their work. She was known for being extremely evil. She was so evil that even saying her name made humans want to gasp for air. Even her peers fear her presents no one and I do mean no one stand in her way, sometimes Lira always thought she could out scare this beat up old bat, but she had to get to her level to even be as powerful as head council. Her name was head master Kashum. “Ok, Sorcery and Lira show us what your project is. I believe this is what we all came to see. Because I heard that this past month you guys were turning heads with your magnificent work. I mean, you ladies may have a shot at becoming the big dogs. Maybe someday you could take my chair, but that has never been done. But I don’t want to keep going. Just show us how real true black magic is supposed to be done.” “Yes, your courtship,” they both had said while they bowed down. Lira and Sorcery started to read together one of the best spells that they could find. They made mouths fall to the ground. “Lira, show them what our magic is made of.” “You know I got this, lovely. I’m about to do the best shape shift that our people have ever seen.” Lira turned into a huge demon dragon. She had flaming streaks all along her body. Her scales were black as night. It was the most creative thing that anyone had ever seen before. Even Sorcery was super shocked with what she had done to herself, but in a safe way, Lira was always a step ahead of everyone and wouldn’t let someone step in her way of being a top honor student and maybe leave early.  “Oh! You ladies did a hell of a job on your project, and what you did, Lira, left me speechless. So, did you, Sorcery. Plus, I heard a lot about you and your family. I know you’re going to make them proud.” “Thank you, your courtship. You don’t know what your positive words mean to me, and I’ll make sure Lira and I do our hardest to meet your evilest studies and what you want from us no matter what,” Sorcery told the head council. “You can rest assured that we’re be the best evil witches that this planet has to offer. I truly believe Sorcery and I can do so much better as a team than doing it by ourselves,” Lira said. “You’re so current, Lira, and I think I know who should win for this witches’ fair today. Give the first-place award to Lira and Sorcery because they were more creative and evil than the rest. You students need to learn from the best, not just your teachers but from your fellow classmates, such as Lira and Sorcery.” For the next couple of years, Lira and Sorcery were the best in their classes and online classes, making their classmates jealous with envy. The guys wanted to be with them, and the girls wanted to be them. Most of the guys wanted to be with Lira more than Sorcery because of Lira’s lust, charm, and looks. Both girls’ lives, up to this point, had been as sweet as honey. Now that they were seventeen years old, Lira couldn’t wait for this day to come because they were finally seniors and were now becoming immortal. It was bittersweet for both Lira and Sorcery. The reason why it was bittersweet for Lira mostly because she could because immortal and had the knowledge about ruling a planet, not just that could just keep using Sorcery till they reached planet Earth, then fine a human to make them her slaves. After doing so she could just show her true side towards Sorcery. “Hey, Sorcery. Look at us now. We’re finally seniors and will be starting our final year in our school.” “Yes, Lira, I’m so excited about the New Year, and I can’t wait to leave this school and live my own life seeing all the sites, owning some humans also see what they do plus made of, but I still want to be your partner in crime.” Announcements were made. The announcer wanted all senior to be aware about becoming immortal. All the immortal seniors would be getting their Book of Immortality upgraded. They had to keep this book, and it could only be destroyed by someone who was immortal. No mortal or human could destroy our book for any reason at all. The book would be issued to all the seniors at the library any time after their classes ended. “Sorcery, I still can’t believe this is actually happening to us. I mean, I’ll make sure to be there for you like you were for me when we were eight.” “Same goes for me, girl.” For the past couple of days, Lira and Sorcery had continued to be the most popular girls on campus, and no one — and I mean, no one — could touch them. They were way too smart for their own good. Of course, Lira had all them fooled. Even smart as Sorcery was, she was still under the spell of Lira. It was a spell of knowing how to con people and other witches and what not. No matter what, Lira was going to have her way. No matter what, if they didn’t like what she did or had done, she would set them straight. Lira had been thinking about more than just graduation. She was thinking about maybe ditching Sorcery and just going her own separate way. “Oh, dang! Sorcery, I forgot. We need to get those books. Dang! How I could forget that.” “Hey! I can’t blame you for forgetting about the books. Even the smartest witches and mortals tend to forget about even the simplest things. So, don’t let this get to you, Lira. No matter what, you’re the best witch that I’ve ever met. I mean, you’re better than me in every way.” “I think we both are the greatest. We’re going to be the best immortal witches that our planet and planet Earth have ever seen in the history of witchery, and I think everyone’s mouths will drop when they see us in action. I’ll make sure to have your back with anything that our naughty hearts want, but I just wish that we could do the thing they tell us that we are not supposed to do, even though I wouldn’t care what they say.” “And if you do, Lira, you have more balls than a man does. You know you could get in trouble for this because even though we’re out of school, they still could tell us what to do afterward, and you know that, girly. I’m your friend, but I can’t let you get into trouble. I am nerd and want to follow the rules of the game and trade, so I would love to see you behave, but I know you won’t do that at all.” She laughs. Then, she continues, “And knowing you, in the future, you’re probably a bad chick that planet earth has ever did seen. You may become the next ruler of Earth, but I want you to know that you can’t do any dreadful things against our rules. You’ll drive yourself sick. Promise me that, ok, Lira?”  “You’re so right about everything. Man, I’m so lucky to have a great friend like you. Sorcery, you mean a lot to me, and I don’t know how to repay you at all.” After getting their black book and immortality, Lira and Sorcery still made the best grades in witch history. They were the best out of all their classmates, teachers, and higher leaders of their planet. They never thought this day would ever come, but their wishes had come true. Now the time had come for their graduation. Everyone showed up for the greatest day for seniors everywhere. Lira and Sorcery were very proud of themselves, knowing they had made it this far in their progress and in their success, but Sorcery wouldn’t know what Lira had up her sleeves till after they landed in New York, New York. She would learn soon enough, so I don’t want to keep running my mouth about it. So, after the graduation, they went to a local bar to celebrate their graduation. “Oh, Lira! We had made it, and I may be drunk and all, but you’re the greatest friend that a witch could wish for. Everyone, listen! I want to make a toast for my main girl, Lira. She made all this a reality for me.  If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be standing here today. I am a free woman, and, man, I’m dizzy as hell, but other than that, here’s to Lira! Please give a tap on the glass.” Everyone tapped their glasses in honor of Lira. “Thanks, Sorcery, but I have to say that I don’t need to be thanked because it’s the other way around. You made me the witch that I am today, but it’s also a teamwork kind of thing, and you’re a devoted friend. You’re like no other being that I’ve ever known. You’re truly a special friend who I see as a sister.” Sorcery was so happy that she would be that nice to her, but everyone knew Lira from the past and knew that she was up to no good. Everyone also knew that she was using Sorcery. All they packed for their move to New York were their clothes, spell book, and spell items. But they had to look for a place to stay before they could move out on their own. They decided that they would leave the next day. Right when they arrived in New York, they wanted to find something to do. One thing that they learned immediately was that being on Earth meant being in a way different time zone. They were in New York City during the 1940s and 1950s, when gangsters were hot and sinister, and where New York was filled with shiny lights and the greatest, hottest shows. “I’m so glad that we’re out of that stupid school of ours. I want to see if we can find a great male slave and have our single mingle kind of thing. Man, they wouldn’t know what to do with our charm.” “But, Lira, you know we can’t date any mortal, even after graduation. We took a pledge. You know that,” Sorcery said with a worried look upon her face. “Who cares? It’s probably someone we could use as either a slave or a partner in crime. Plus, who knows? This person could be more than just a slave or a partner.” Then there was something going on while the women were in the town square. Everyone was running toward some shopping center. Lira and Sorcery wondered what the screaming was all about. When Lira saw a woman, she yelled out to her, “You, woman, we want to ask you something important. What’s going on?” “Girl, you don’t know that we have a famous formal male model here in our town. Oh, my god! He has the prettiest blue-green eyes that I ever did see. They claim that he’s a bad boy, too. Just wish that I could get a piece of that hotness. He has a greaser kind of look, but really you need to look for yourself.” the strange woman replied while she was walking away, toward him. And there he was, just as sweet as an apple and sour as a lemon. “Of course, I love a man who can be more controlling than I am, and he seemed like such a bad boy as well.” Lira said. And that was what she wanted in a guy with his red hair all slicked back, wearing a leather jacket. He had a baby face, and he was also buff as hell. His name was Jim Woods, a single man, and Lira wanted a man who was like her. He was a real man. “Sorcery, do you think I could get a sexy man like him in my life and make him my slave or work as a team?” “I don’t know, lass. Remember what they said at our school?” They said it at the same time, “We can’t marry or date someone who’s not an immortal like a vampire, witch, or werewolf.” “Yeah, how many times are you going to say that already? Like I said, I truly don’t care. He’s just way too hot to let go. And I don’t want to take him home to my mom or dad, so you better back the fuck off me, ok, Sorcery?” “Yeah, Lira. I got it. Just calm down, ok?  It wasn’t all that fucking serious. Geez!” But Lira didn’t realize that she and Jim had a lot in common with each other. She never knew that he had a twin brother named Tony, who was more of a bad boy than he was and who had more of a jealous streak because his twin brother Jim got more women than he did. Jim and Lira started dating right off the bat. It was love at first sight. “So, Jim, you never told me that you were such a bad boy, so what do you really do for a living? I’m a witch, an evil one at that, and I love a guy that can tell another mortal what to do. That really turns me on. I bet you’re a naughty little thing, aren’t you?” “Well, you can say I am a bad boy,” he said it with a devilish look in his eyes. “I know some magic, as well, my sexy lady. Maybe I can show you what I can do.” “Oh, yeah? I would love to have a slave or two in my collection, if you can catch my drift. Oh, my God! I don’t know what to say, my sexy lover. You’re the man I’ve been waiting for all my immortal life.” Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that Jim and Lira were about forty years apart. She was seventeen, and he was fifty-seven. Age to them truly didn’t matter at all. They still loved each other and loved to make people their slaves, and if they didn’t get what they wanted, they’d just kill them in a horrible way. Afterward, they would chop them into little pieces and eat them. Her longtime friend, Sorcery, didn’t like the new Lira. She knew she was evil but not to the point of going completely insane. Of course, Sorcery now wondered if Lira really had changed or if she had always been this way. “Oh, baby, I love when we rule other mortals. I enjoy doing this with you so much.” “Me, too, my love, and I also love how we kill and eat their bodies when they don’t listen to us. It’s such a turn on, makes me want to do you so much more than ever.” “Oh, my god, Jim. You’re also turning me on, as well. I just want to take your clothes off and take control of you in my bed.” “Damn, Lira! You make me want to marry you so badly. So, Lira, will you marry me, my sexy-ass witch?” “Oh, yes! I do, my sweet. You’re the only one I want to rule this world with. Let’s make it our own, my love, and teach these mortals who’s boss, baby.” Then they passionately kissed each other with a ring of fire surrounding their love and hate. While planning their dark evil wedding in Jim’s home town, New York, New York, USA, Lira’s friend looked at her and asked her, “Lira, do you think he’s the right guy for you? And do you think you’re doing the right thing? I think you’re moving way too fast, and I think he’s using your magic for himself. I know we’re supposed to be evil and all, but I think this is going to go wrong for you. I’m very worried that the school is going to find out somehow.” “I truly don’t think this could ever go wrong in any type of way, and I think I would know if he was using me. I hope you know I have powers that you could never understand. I’m more powerful than you or those dumbass teachers. I want sexy-ass Jim all to myself. I think you’re just jealous just, like his twin brother Tony is. I told you one time that you should go out with one of the mortals because they’re so much better in and out the bed than those lame-ass, evil fuckers, and when I saw Jim for the first time, it was love at first sight. If you have a problem with who I am marrying, then you just must suck it up and deal with it. Be happy that I found someone that I really want and who wants me. For some reason, we have a lot of things in common. Me and him are both evil. We love making people our slaves, and we also love to kill and eat others, if they don’t listen to us.” “Ok, Lira, whatever you say, but I hope it doesn’t work for you at all. I’m being serious about this, but you know what, girl? I’ve had your back since we were in the third grade. I’m the only person you’ve ever could count. I’m the only you can trust. And I’ve always been there if anything goes wrong. But now that I’ve warned you, don’t come to me and ask me to help because I’ll be the one to say that I told your fucking ass so!” This was the first time that they had ever had a fight ever in their lives. “You know what, lass? I’m marrying him. I don’t care what you or those dumb teachers say. He’s mine and I’m his. This is our day to shine and to show you and those dumb teachers what we must offer as a couple. I’m Lira, the hot, sexy, supernatural witch, and I’m proud of it. If you have a problem, then that’s fine by me.” Meanwhile Jim and Tony planned for the wedding also. “So, bro, you’re finally getting married. Man, this means you can’t flirt with no other girl. Ha! Ha! Man, you’re so damn sorry. I can’t believe that you, my famous twin brother, the ladies’ man who has never let anyone stand in his way, letting a girl tie you down to the ground. What kind of spell did she cast to make you think she was the one for you?” Tony said, while shaking his head. He placed his hand was on Jim’s shoulder. “Well, Tony, you have to realize, like you said, I’m a ladies’ man. No woman can resist me, but for some reason, she has something that no other girl had. She did what no other girl could do for me. She turned me on to killing people, eating them, making them our slaves, and something about her makes her just the top queen of them all. She can’t be stopped. She’s just pure evil, and that’s what I want in a woman. She’s just like me but much better. I just can’t believe that I finally have an evil angel in my hands.” “Are you sure that you’re in love with her? Are you sure you’re not just using her for her magic and because she’s an evil witch? But you know what? I’m proud of you, man. I thought I was going to be the one who got a hot girl like that, but you got one that tops them all, man.” “She’s my world, my everything. I mean, she’s so damn sexy. I want her to have my child.” Jim didn’t know that Tony and Sorcery were working together to expose Lira and Jim’s secret to the school, and her planet include their hometown. They wanted to let everyone know that Jim and Lira were going out and planning to get married, but they were trying to wait for the perfect time. They wanted to wait until they had a child or two. Honestly, they never thought it was going to happen because an   immortal witch and a mortal slave master had not met and fallen in love in over one thousand years. Like they always say, sometimes love comes in all forms, and you never know where you will find it, even if the two people have different faiths and are different forms of life. Sorcery never thought this would come to the point where she would have to turn her best friend in, but she also felt that Lira was trying to use her as a slave as well. She also didn’t realize that Tony was using her to get back at his twin brother because he wanted Lira and Sorcery for their magic for his own selfish needs. Like I said before hand, Tony was more of a bad boy than his twin brother Jim, and I do mean way worse, so he was trying to trick Sorcery into telling her teachers and the other witches about the relationship. He also wanted to work with her to get them punished for their bad deeds. “My dear Sorcery, we can get them to marry and afterward tell your school about them. Then maybe, just maybe, we can work together and put our brains together and take over this country and maybe the world. How do you feel about that, my dear?” Sorcery used a spell to lift Tony up in the air. While he was in the air, she choked him, gave him an evil stare, and yelled forcefully, “Look. After this, I don’t want to see you again. Do you understand? After this, I don’t want to hear from you ever again!”  Then, she threw Tony back down with such force till it almost broke most of his joints. “Damn, girl! What’s your problem? Do you think I was trying to use you or something like that, but you know what? You need my help. Like I said, we can take over this world and make these people our zombie slaves. What do you say? Are you going to just walk away from the best thing that you could ever happen, or are you going to run behind Lira and not get credit for a damn thing? Why not make your journey into this world worth it?” Sorcery stopped for a minute and thought about all the years that she had spent with Lira. She realized that Lira, since she had met Jim, had not spent one minute with her. She also realized that she had no choice but to work with Tony. She wasn’t sure if she should trust him. If you remember, he’d wanted to trick her to gain her power, instead of work as a team. He wanted to get rid of Jim and Lira and make Sorcery his magical slave. He would force her to make him immortal so that he could rule over all of mankind and make everyone his “zombie slaves.”

Shopping. BTS
Masterlist
Seokjin
Would you be a bad girlfriend, if you abandoned your boyfriend? Probably. But he was making it hard for you to stay with him. He picked up every piece of clothing, pretty or ugly didn’t matter here, and tried them on. Fair enough, other people would look bad in them, while he rocked everything. And it was funny at the beginning, sure. But five hours into shopping with Jin, you were tired of seeing ugly sunglasses and pink shirts.  “Just buy anything!,” you finally exploded, when he shoved another pink item into your face.
“I won’t buy, okay!,” he responded just as annoyed as you. He had noticed your bad mood since store number 15 or 16, but this didn’t stop him from being playful. He thought his acts would make you feel better.
“We touched everything in every store, don’t expect me to be all smiles, when you never buy anything,” you tried to calm down.
“You never tell me your opinion, of course I don’t buy things, when all you say is good, great and pretty without meaning it,” he imitated you with a annoyingly high voice.
“Sorry, that I can’t do thousand reviews for the thousand things you try on,” your attempt on staying calm failed.
“You don’t even laugh, when I put ugly things on though!,” he complained.
“Because you don’t look funny, you look good in everything!,” you said a little too loud, two teenage girls stared at you and then at Jin, who was smitten by the compliment he had lured out of you.
“Really? You think so? So I can buy the sunglasses from the last store?,” he blushed a little, as if you never fought.
“No, not those. Those were just ugly.”
Tumblr media
Yoongi
It was a first that he asked you to go shopping. He always ordered online, never got out to actually try things on and buy them. You were excited that you would walk around in the mall, maybe grab some coffee and hold hands the whole time.
But of course, that didn't happen. Yoongi rushed into the basic section in h&m and grabbed the same white and black shirts, he owned.
"I need new ones and delivery is taking too long," he plainly said and walked to check out already. You didn't follow him though, picked up bright pink and green shirts in his size. When he finally noticed your absence he walked back.
"Let's go," he told you and waved with his hands. You simply shrugged your shoulders and looked for matching hats. "We have no time," he rushed you, but still grabbbed the pieces out of your hand.
"You have nothing to do, let's go on a date," you whined when he put the clothes back," Hey, I wanted to buy them for you!"
"As if I would wear that." He held up the green shirt from earlier. It wasn't exactly his style, but he bored you with his all black outfits sometimes.
"Then I'm not coming."
"Sure, stay here then," he only responded. You sometimes acted as if you didn't know your boyfriend, of course he would leave you behind.
"Buy me at least some coffee!" He finally nodded at that, and grabbed the pink shirt last second. "You can wear this," he said and went to pay.
Tumblr media
Hoseok
He would end up being poor one day. His clothes were just so expensive, you didn't understand how his heart didn't hurt paying these prices. My hands would shake at least, you thought. But no, Hoseok paid without even grimacing a little. Rather, he smiled.
"I finally have every color," he said happily and hugged the huge bag with shoes. The shoes that costed him a frw hundred dollars, but were kind of ugly in your opinion. Not that you would tell Hoseok. The shoes looked like from a different century and used, but Hoseok just had to have them.
"I have an idea where to shop next!" His preference reminded you of an old thrift shop, you saw a few days ago. This way maybe he would save some money, but still get some clothes he liked.
He couldn't complain, even though he wanted to explore other overpriced boutiques, because you always followed him quietly. "Okay, let's go." But he couldn't hide his shock, when he saw the sign of the shop.
"Trust me," you assured him. And you were right, after the shock disappeared, Hoseok found his new paradise. The oversized jackets looked like some designer clothes and there were the most extraordinary sunglasses and hats on display.
"Babe, I found heaven. And only paid 500." Yes, he still spent hundreds, but at least for a lot of pieces. But he would learn, for sure.
Tumblr media
Namjoon
What does the author want to say in these lines? You suddenly remembered those words from school, when you looked at the pieces Namjoon picked in his favorite store. He thought of fashion as a way to express himself, but did he really need every color of the spectrum in such a tiny space? The shirt was weird, a little off from his usual style, but Namjoon still stared at it.
“Are you sure you like the design or the designer?,” you asked him when the owner of the shop left you two alone. He and Namjoon were besties. Well, anyone would be besties with Joon, when he left hundreds there every week for pieces that looked like it was done in five minutes. On drugs.
“It will look great with the pants I bought last month.” It was shocking how Namjoon remembered every thing he bought. He would suddenly mention hats or shoes from last year and style them. When he was passionate about something, he was unstoppable.
“I don’t think it looks great,” you repeated yourself. Maybe you were tired or just not as brave as he was with fashion. But Namjoon insisted on his purchase, and told you to wait for the outfit.
And he was right. Mixed with dull colors, the shirt was almost really really good. It wasn’t as eyecatching as you remembered it, it matched his body and skin color.
“You should trust me more,” he said, when he catched you admire his outfit,”Soon, I’ll style you as well.”
Tumblr media
Jimin
It’s a well know fact, that Jimin was the gentleman of all gentlemen. So shopping with him was just a dream. He was that kind of boyfriend, that took your purse without a word, paid for everything, still allowed you to buy coffee or little things, so you didn’t feel bad, and always complimented you. Even when you looked just aweful. But as he was a bad liar, you understood. And tortured him for lying so obviously.
“Really? I don’t look fat in this dress?” You turned around and watched him closely. The fit was a catastrophe. The fabric hugged all the wrong places and made it look like you were swollen and pregnant.
“You could never look fat, love,” he replied and tried to look horrified about your question. Or maybe he was horrified of your looks and didn’t fake that one.
“Are you sure, so I can wear this to your parent’s place?,” you wanted to corner him into saying the truth.
“This weekend?,” he asked and avoided your eyes,”I heard it’s gonna be cold that day, maybe you should pick something else.”
“No way, it’s perfect if you think I look okay.” You then walked into the fitting room, to pick out the jacket that was just as ugly as the dress. “I’ll wear it like this, if I get cold.” And with that move, the boy broke down.
“Okay, I give up, you look terrible,” he confessed, defeated by your outfit.
“Be honest with me,” you took the jacket off with a shudder,”One day I won’t realize and walk around like a pig or something.”
“A pretty pig at most.”
Tumblr media
Taehyung
The best advertisement was this boy. He didn’t even have to wear the things yet, people just followed him into stores. And when he tried something on, they believed that they could look as good as he did. Many were probably surprised, as the clothes turned into potato sacks at home, when it looked so elegant on Taehyung.
So obviously every designer wanted to work with him. But he still insisted on walking around in unknown indie stores, looking for gems. He made the same face as he did in galeries, looking for art pieces for his room or collection. Fashion was also art to him.
“At this point, you should do your own clothing line,” you said, when you left a boutique. Taehyung was pretty close with the designer, they always discussed the next collections and Taehyung always let them do alterations he had in mind. They should credit him as a co-designer, you jooked sometimes.
“But it’s easier this way,” he admitted with a grin,”And I like one-of-a-kind pieces way too much, to produce something for others.”
“What a selfish man,” you teased him,”You are just too scared, that everything will be sold out, and you can’t wear it anymore, right?”
“How can you know me that well?,” he teased back.
“But think about it, I bet you will be happy to see people wear your designs. It’s like producing songs... for the body?” A light bulb lit up inside his head.
“This is why I love you and your one-of-a-kind mind.”
Tumblr media
Jungkook
"If the next piece you pick up is grey sweats, I'm screaming," you threatened Jungkook. His arms were already full with grey or black sportswear, but he didn't stop eyeing the same exact things again. You didn't understand how he still found joy in shopping, when he bought the same thigs over and over again.
"I wasn't going to," he scoffed and changed directions. Yea, sure. He walked into a section, you never dreamed Jungkook to walk in. He would never go in there by himself, so he looked awkward. His eyes wandered between different button ups, and he suddenly looked lost and tired.
"White suits you," you helped him out. He walked over to the corner with white clothes and touched a few pieces. “This one,” he murmured with his tongue between his teeth, as he was stuggling with the other clothes in his hands. You helped him pick out the one he wanted. It was a pretty basic button up, with thin grey lines.
“It looks like the one you wore last week,” he confessed quietly. It made you blush, that he remembered that, and you immediately regretted threatening him earlier.
“You won’t look as good as me though,” you tried to hide your shyness.
“I never could.” You turned into a tomato with his comment, but as he didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable, he added, “Well, you could never look that good in sportswear like me either, babe.”
“Yes, yes, we all have styles that match us better, but variety is always good, right?”

This is How I Made $40k In Passive Income By Age 26
I’m talking here about real passive income, not the kind where you spend years writing a book. There’s one caveat though and you need money to make money.
I started investing part of my income every month at age 23. Three years later, I had made $40k in profit tax-free and could put down a deposit on my first house. All with less than an hour of effort per year. $13k per hour of work doesn’t sound bad, does it?
It’s not sexy but I relied on getting a professional job and investing my excess income. Many in my position don’t do this and sacrifice future financial freedom. You can take the profits to start up your own business with less reliance on outside help. Self-funding the initial stages gives you more credibility when asking others for more money.
My Economics bachelors and central bank experience made me confident to invest responsibly. Yet the steps I took weren’t complex and here I break down what I did.
NOTE: Lucky factors went my way with exchange rates, freak performance, and government bonus schemes amongst others. Do not read this and think similar performance can be produced reliably in the future. This is a high-level overview and I do not go into blow-by-blow detail.
Surrendered my arrogance
One of the biggest mistakes I see is people thinking they are exceptional. Investment funds have whole teams of hyperqualified people and complex algorithms. Yet 85.1% of active funds have failed to beat the S&P 500 in the last 10 years. How can you honestly believe you can win?
I bought index and active funds from the major economies rather than individual stocks. This takes the decision making out of my hands. As I’m from the UK, I invested through an ISA (the equivalent of a superpowered Roth IRA) to earn tax-free.
I spread myself out geographically with stocks in the USA, UK, mainland Europe, and Asia. My risk was dramatically reduced as I owned shares in thousands of companies. By using index funds, my fees were far lower than buying individual stocks. When I wanted exposure and index funds were unavailable, I found funds by managers with long histories.
Invested first and spent afterward
Every month, the same amount left my account automatically. I never considered this as spending money so it never factored into my buying decisions. I could start the account with significant savings from 1.5 years of working that were sitting in a low-interest current account.
There are all kinds of apps to encourage people to invest their savings. One of the tricks I dislike is rounding up purchases to send to the pot. You buy a cookie for 20 cents and 80 cents goes straight into your fund. This takes control away from you and leaves your input reliant on chance events. The return is already based on chance so why make it even more uncertain!
Some portray compounding as a type of sorcery. Yet 7% return per year for ten years on ten dollars is $9.67 profit. On a thousand dollars it is $967. Don’t make the excuse of something is better than nothing when you can put away more. It takes time to build a portfolio to the point where it can make a difference in your life. I had a massive advantage by living with my parents.
If you truly want passive income, you need to examine your spending habits too and decide if anything is a luxury you are happy to be without.
Never invested if I couldn’t afford to lose 50%
I could invest more than I did but I always kept some in reserve. If anything happened to me, I could cope with losing half the value of my investments. The amount you’re willing to risk can change over time and change your plans in line with this.
The worst crashes in the S&P history have taken the value to around half but they have always bounced back. We still didn’t fall below this even when news of the pandemic hit or when the financial crisis of 2008 struck. You can be confident a developed country’s stock market won’t completely self-destruct. Only a massive event could do this and then you’d have bigger problems!
Individual stocks can go to zero but it is harder for a fund to do so. You must feel comfortable with the unlikely worst-case scenario for peace of mind. There’s always a chance of great losses and you can’t blame anyone else if you lose more than you can handle. It is possible to lose everything!
Examined my opportunity costs
Let’s not pretend it isn’t a privilege to invest. Not only must you cover your expenses but also your debts. I was fortunate to have student loan debt with an interest of less than 2%. As long as I believed I could beat this rate, it made sense to invest extra money rather than paying off debts early.
Yet I know others are not as lucky. The average stock market return in the long-run has been 7% for the S&P. If the interest on your debt is higher than this, pay it off first! You have to decide your willingness to take the risk if your interest is less than this. I cannot tell you how much. I took a risk by investing in emerging economies and those paid off.
For entrepreneurs, when starting a business you should believe you can beat this rate in the long run. At the time, I didn’t have a business idea I thought would be a better path. You should be confident in forecasting significantly more than this to make the extra effort worth it.
Allowed the money to do its thing
There’s a secret of investing many people seem to forget. Looking at the numbers doesn’t magically make them increase. Interfering too much will backfire.
I thought about taking my money out several times when it looked like the peak. I thought about adding more whenever it looked like the bottom. Every time I was wrong. I would have lost wealth if I had acted. Trying to perfectly time the market will leave you anxious and constantly checking the news. Not to mention the lost income by needing to pay fees for every trade.
What you need to take with you
Investing in the way I did gave me much greater financial freedom. I did it while working a 9–5 and fresh out of university. The hardest part is working to get the money to invest but once you have this, it’s about making the strategy as easy as possible. These are the steps I took and can help you too.
1. Surrendered my arrogance — I bought funds, not individual stocks.
2. Invested first then spent afterward — I could only spend what I hadn’t invested.
3. Never invested if I couldn’t afford to lose 50% — I didn’t put my security at risk.
4. Examined my opportunity costs — I was sure it was the best use of my money.
5. Allowed the money to do its thing — I didn’t obsessively check on it.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day! Remember this is my story and you must examine the risks for yourself. I have intentionally not given the exact funds because they may not perform the same in the future.
Any actions taken are completely at your own risk, this should not be considered financial or legal advice. I am not a financial advisor. Please consult a financial professional before making major financial decisions.

12 Days of Christmas in July {day 5}.
Chaol + Yrene
Written alongside my soulmate, @throne-of-ashes-and-beauty
Tumblr media
Chaol was miserable.
He was in the middle of a thousand people, all of whom wanted the same toy as they did. He and Yrene had left right after breakfast and gotten to the mall as soon as it opened...only to be met alongside hundreds of other needy parents.
“Is this necessary?” He mumbled under his breath, unsure if his wife could even hear him.
Yrene’s eyes quickly snapped to his. “This is our first Christmas as a family. It’s going to be perfect.”
He fought the urge to roll his eyes, knowing that would only get him in deeper shit.
“Taylon isn’t even one yet, do you really think he’s going to remember whether or not we got him the-.”
Yrene looked over at him again and he shut right up.
She leaned in and whispered, “The woman behind us brought a map — a map, Chaol! This is clearly not her first time doing this. The family in front of us? They have a list of coordinates. We are severely outmatched here and if these people smell our fear, they’re going to eat us alive!”
Chaol just shook his head, suppressing his laughter. When Yrene put her heart and mind into something, it was all or nothing. It was one of the many reasons why he had fallen in love with her.
“Alright, as you wish,” he said, and Yrene grinned in satisfaction.
The doors were about to open and the crowd began to hum with excitement. They were going to go in, get what Yrene wanted, and get the hell out of there as soon as possible.
Except for the toy that Yrene wanted to get for Taylon? Every other set of parents was there to get it, too.
“What happens if we get separated?” Chaol joked.
As Yrene pursed her lips, he could see that she was taking his question seriously. “Probably should meet up at the restrooms or something.”
“Baby,” he chuckled, holding her hand in his. “Calm down. It’s Black Friday shopping, not a war zone.”
He had no idea how wrong he was…
The doors of the mall were unlocked and Yrene grabbed Chaol’s hand to drag him through the chaos. People were bumping into him every other second, and he felt horrible for all the toes he ended up stepping on.
The mall was already fully decorated for the Christmas holiday even though twenty-four hours had not yet passed since they’d eaten their thanksgiving dinner.
Chaol instantly felt sorry for all the poor souls that had to work at the mall on Black Friday.
Front and center was the animatronic teddy bear that was the “hot toy” of the year. He had to admit, it was pretty cute — until it started talking to you.
Regardless, this was the must have toy and his darling wife had made it clear that they must have it.
There were close to 500 boxes piled up in a pyramid and Chaol let out a breath of relief. This wouldn’t be so bad. They could grab the bear, hit the register and be back home before Taylon even woke up.
And then, in the blink of an eye, the pyramid was gone.
“Shit!” Yrene called and her hand was ripped from his as she ran towards the crowd of people gathered around the display.
Chaol watched, half in horror half in awe, as Yrene hurried toward the pile, reaching for a box. Perhaps he should have been the one to go in, but she was quicker, smaller, and far more adamant. If it were up to Chaol, they would’ve gone shopping the week before Christmas to get toys that didn’t cost nearly a hundred dollars.
Yrene was lost among the sea of parents, so Chaol made his move, weaving in and out of the crowd. He finally spotted her pulling and tugging on a box.
Except she wasn’t the only one pulling and tugging. A woman with blonde hair, nearly the same size as Yrene, was tugging on the other end.
“I don’t give a shit if you had it first, I need this toy!” the blonde woman yelled.
Chaol quickly moved in as Yrene was losing her grip. He stepped closer and winked at the blonde woman. “Need some help, ma’am?”
“Please,” she said, sighing. “I have to have this. It’s a collectible.”
His hands closed around the box and both he and the woman pulled the box from Yrene’s hands.
With ease, he took the box from her and it was then in his own hands and under his arm. “She did have it first. Happy shopping,” he said, walking away.
With a smirk and a vulgar gesture, Yrene followed him.
They hurried to the registers and, to further Chaol’s dismay, the line was forever long. It wrapped around the edge of the store and by the time they found the end, Chaol was wishing it was manly and socially acceptable to publicly throw a hissy fit.
Yrene, however, was beaming. She had gotten what she had come for, and Chaol decided that was all that mattered.
Yrene and Taylon were all that mattered. If they were happy, Chaol was too...shopping mall chaos and all.
_____
“Is he asleep?”
Chaol nodded, joining her beneath the lit Christmas tree. He pressed a kiss to Yrene’s forehead before grabbing the tape to help her wrap Taylon’s gifts. It was Christmas Eve, and although there was no way their infant would remember his first Christmas, they did all the traditions.
They made sugar cookies in different holiday shapes, decorating them with icing and sprinkles. They put them on the coffee table with a tall glass of milk, ready for Santa. And to please his reindeer, they also put out a few carrots.
“Do you think he’s going to like it?”
Chaol looked up at Yrene. She was touching an ornament, painted with Taylon’s handprint.
“Like what, love?” He asked, finishing the wrapping on one present and stacking it on top of another. For being less than a year old, he was definitely going to have more presents than some adults.
“His presents,” she said, looking around. “The tree and the decorations. Christmas as a whole.”
He moved the box he had just set in front of him to the side and grabbed Yrene’s wrist, tugging slightly.
“Come here,” he breathed.
She climbed on top of his lap, straddling his waist.
“He’s going to love it,” Chaol smiled, pressing his lips to hers. “Promise.”
She wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck, just holding him. He ran a soothing hand up and down her back.
“Keep doing that and you’re going to put me to sleep,” she said, drowsily.
“That’s the plan, baby,” he laughed.
“What?” She asked, sitting back and looking at him. “No, there’s too much to do and -.”
“And I can handle it,” he said, finishing her sentence and kissing her. “You’ve already done enough. Go to bed, my love.”
After some more persuasion from Chaol, including a few promises regarding his arrival in bed, Yrene relented and pressed a kiss to her husband’s lips before heading up the stairs.
Not long after Chaol followed, stopping in to check on Taylon, who was sound asleep in his crib.
The next morning, Chaol fulfilled one of his promises to Yrene, and when he went to wake up their son, his hair was noticeably more messy. Good thing there was no one but a baby to judge him.
Yrene was still laying in bed when Chaol came back with Taylon, babbling and bouncing in his father’s arms.
“There’s my handsome baby boy,” she crooned, sitting up. Chaol handed him to her and she kissed all over his face. “Merry Christmas, my sweet boy. Merry Christmas.”
He squealed in delight from the attention.
The snow had already begun to fall, the hot chocolate already steaming and sitting on the kitchen counter.
“We have to go see if Santa came,” Yrene said, smile wide and she talked to her little man. “Yes we do.”
Chaol watched them walk down the staircase in front of him, admiring his wife who was wearing one of his old teeshirts. Taylon went wide eyed when he saw the colorful display of wrapped boxes in front of the lit up Christmas tree. The minute Yrene set him on the rug, he was crawling toward them all.
“Looks like Santa ate all the cookies,” Yrene mused.
Chaol cleared his throat. “Yes, and he thought they were delicious.”
“And the carrots?” She asked, raising an eyebrow and glancing at the plate. All four baby carrots remained.
Chaol ducked his head and went to intercept a curious Taylon as he reached to put a Christmas light in his mouth. “Reindeers weren’t hungry. Let’s open presents!”
Yrene only laughed as she sat down on the floor and took Taylon from Chaol.
One by one, Chaol removed the wrapping paper he so meticulously put on the night before. But each time Taylon’s eyes lit up or his squeal of delight filled the house, he knew it was completely worth the little sleep he got.
When there was only one present left, Yrene said, “Let me open this one for him.”
Chaol rolled his eyes, knowing full well which present was left. He slid the package across the floor and took his son from her outstretched hands.
Yrene helped Taylon opened the gift, the bear in which they had waited hours for and wrestled away from another mom.
Once it was opened, Taylor hit the bear’s nose a few times before crawling off Chaol’s lap and picking up a cardboard book about dinosaurs.
Yrene blinked, staring at the bear with her mouth hanging open. Chaol had to fight the laughter that was bubbling up in his throat.
“He…” Yrene hesitated. “Taylon, look at this bear! It talks! It sings! You can name it whatever you want! See the bear?”
Taylon was babbling to himself, hitting his new book against a plush soccer ball he’d also gotten.
Chaol, unable to stop himself, burst out laughing, ending up on his back and clutching his side.
“I can’t believe this,” Yrene said, lip slightly pouting. “I punched an old man for this thing and he doesn’t even care about it.”
Chaol blinked, sitting up. “You did what now?”
She sighed. “Okay, so I didn’t punch him, but I did aggressively shove him. But regardless, he doesn’t even care! He’s more concerned with trying to make dinosaurs play soccer!” She watched him, Chaol keeping an eye on her, and he watched as her face softened. “But he’s happy. He’s happy and that’s all that matters.”
It was moments like these that Chaol couldn’t believe how lucky he was, how amazing his life really ended up.
Taylon let out a sweet, high pitched giggle as the ball rolled away toward Chaol, who picked it up with a smile and rolled it back to his son.
“I think he’s having a great Christmas, babe,” Chaol said, smiling at his wife.
Yrene’s grin widened as she leaned over and kissed her husband, then her son. “He is. So am I. It’s perfect.”
“You don’t want one more gift?” Chaol asked with a smile.
“Didn’t you already give me one this morning?” Yrene was blushing, but Chaol could see a glint in her eye.
Chaol laughed, shaking his head. “Not exactly what I meant, but nice to know where your heads still at this morning.” He stood, turning to walk in the kitchen.
She called after him, “Still thinking about where your head was earlier.”
He threw his head back and laughed, retrieving the small silver box from under the cabinet.
“I’m reminded every day of the many reasons that I love you,” he said, keeping his hand behind his back as he walked back into the living room. “And one of those reasons is your humor.”
“And some others?” Yrene asked, crawling into his lap as he sat down.
“Your beauty,” he said, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “You’re the most brilliant person that I know.” He kissed the other cheek. “You’re the best mother to our son.” A kiss to her nose. “And you’ve got a fine ass.”
“Chaol!” Yrene laughed, swatting at his chest.
He leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss to her lips. He lifted his hand to reveal the box. “Merry Christmas, baby.”
Yrene’s eyes went wide. She sat up and straddled his waist. “Baby, we said no gifts this year.”
He smirked. “Yeah, I’ve never been good at following directions.”
It wasn’t wrapped, the filigree along the top of the antique silver box decoration enough. Yrene skimmed her thumb along the lid, before opening it.
“Chaol,” she breathed. “It’s beautiful.”
It was. The sapphire in the middle of the Art Deco style ring was sparkling, shining in the colorful lights of the tree.
She slipped it onto her finger, her eyes lined with silver as she admired it. “Thank you so much.”
His lips pressed against her forehead, then her nose, and her lips.
Taylon quickly crawled over and tried to grab the ring, causing Yrene to fall into a fit of giggles.
This was it, their first Christmas as a family of three.
All Yrene wanted was for it to be perfect, for it to be a day that they would remember for the rest of their lives. And it was just that.
Perfect.

Enslaved Real Estate - Why I Can't Stop and Why You Should Start off
Tumblr media
The All-Money-Down Technique So how does the all-money-down practice work by purchasing a home with cash? First of all, i can repeat that I really didn't have any cash, and yet I had a significant amount of equity from Terry's home plus several homes that I owned put together to give me a substantial hard cash down payment. Banks and mortgage companies alike will accept dollars from a home-equity line of credit as cash to purchase a home. Not less than they did in 1997 under the financial guidelines of your day. What you must remember about mortgages and providing credit is that the guidelines change constantly, so this technique I actually used in 1997 may or may not be able to be used someday. Whether it is or isn't able to be used again doesn't genuinely matter to me as I believe that there will always be a way to order real estate with limited money down sooner or later. There will always be a technique to acquire real estate but exactly how that will be done at some point I'm not completely sure. I began purchasing property in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia with the prices in the $30, 000 to $40, 000 per home price range. We'd purchase a home with three bedrooms and one bathroom about the second floor with a kitchen, dining room, and living room within the first floor and a basement. What we call a line home in Philadelphia would consist of a porch outside front and a backyard the width of the home. Most short period homes in Philadelphia are less than twenty-two feet big. For those of you who are not from Philadelphia and can't impression what a Philadelphia row home looks like, I suggest you watch your movie Rocky. Twenty-two homes on each side of the block will really test your ability to be a next door neighbor. Things that will usually cause an argument with your Philadelphia neighbors sometimes stem from parking, noise your children make, where you will leave your trash cans, parties, and the appearance of your townhouse. In 1998 my girlfriend and I moved throughout together and to the suburbs of Philadelphia called Warminster. After living on a street in Tacony, much like Rocky did, I really looked forward to having space between great home and my next-door neighbor. I told Terry not to even think about talking with the people who lived to your neighbors to us. I told her if one of them comes in excess of with a fruitcake I am going to take it and punt it as a football right into their backyard. I believe I was affected by Philadelphia row home syndrome. My new neighbors through Warminster turned out to be wonderful people, but it took me 20 months before I was willing to learn that. This means you just bought your row home for $35, 000 in Mayfair, and after $2000 in closing costs and also $5000 in repair costs, you find yourself a good tenant who would like to rent the home. After renting the home with a positive cash of $200 a month, you now have an outstanding debt involving $42, 000 on your home equity line of credit that will should be paid off. When purchasing the home, I did not get a property loan as I just purchased a home for cash as it will be said in the business. All monies I spent on this house hold were spent from the home-equity line of credit. The move now is to pay off your home-equity line of credit so you can go do it again. We have now go to a bank with your fixed-up property and tell a mortgage department that you want to do a cash-out refinancing of this real estate investment. It helps to explain that the neighborhood you purchase your property on should have a wider range of pricing as the neighborhood associated with Mayfair did in the mid-90s. The pricing of real estate in Mayfair is quite unusual as you would see a $3000 difference in home values from one block to the next. I thought this was important when doing a cash-out refinancing because it's rather easy for the bank to see that I just bought my place for $35, 000 regardless of the fact that I did many maintenance tasks. I could justify the fact that I've spent more money on my best home to fix it up, and by putting an important tenant in, it was now a profitable piece of realty from an investment standpoint. If I was lucky including I was many times over doing this system of purchasing properties in Mayfair and the appraiser would use homes the block or two away and come back with an value determination of $45, 000. Back then there were programs allowing the investor to purchase a home for 10 percent down or placed in as equity doing a 90 percent cash through refinance giving me back roughly $40, 500. Employing this technique allowed me to get back most of the money Document put down on the property. I basically paid just $1, 500 down for this new home. Why did all the mortgage companies and the appraisers keep giving me the actual numbers I wanted? I assume because they wanted the business. I would primarily tell the bank I need this to come in at $45, 000 or I am just keeping it financed while is. They always seemed to give me what I want within reason. This whole process took three to four many months during which time I may have saved a few thousand cash. Between the money I saved from my job plus my investments and cash out refinancing, I had replenished most or all of my funds from my home-equity line of credit that was now almost back to zero to begin doing this again. And that is exactly what I intended to do. I employed this system to purchase four to six homes a year utilizing the same money purchasing home after home after home over and over again. In reality, any technique is a no-money down or little money downward technique. At the time maybe I had $60, 000 in attainable funds to use to buy homes off of my HELOC, i really would buy a home and then replenish the money. It was an awesome technique that was legal, and I could see my want being a real estate investor full-time coming to an eventual real truth even though I wasn't there yet. During the years as a result of 1995 to 2002, the real estate market in Philadelphia made gradual increases of maybe 6 percent because each year went on. I began to track my net worthwhile that was 100 percent equity, meaning I had no other forms from investments to look at when calculating my net worth. By and large, the first five years of my real estate career will not go well because of the bad decisions I made selecting buildings and the decline in the market. Furthermore, my lack of understanding and experience in repairs made it a rough. The actual five years of my real estate career that I just simply finished explaining didn't make much money either. That i supported myself primarily through my career as a salesperson, but I could definitely see the writing on the wall who down the road real estate was going to be my full-time gig. Real estate Professionals of America I own an office building that includes a real estate company as a tenant called Realty Professionals about America. The company has a terrific plan where a new professional receives 75 percent of the commission and the broker becomes only 25 percent. If you don't know it, this is a pretty good put up, especially for a new real estate agent. The company also offers a 5 per-cent sponsorship fee to the agent who sponsors them regarding every deal they do. If you bring an individual who's going to be a realtor in to the company that you have sponsored, the broker will probably you a 5 percent sponsorship out of the broker's end so the new realtor you sponsored can still earn seventy-five percent commissions. In addition to the above, Realty Professionals of U . s offers to increase the realtor's commission by 5 percentage point after achieving cumulative commission benchmarks, up to a maximum connected with 90 percent. Once a commission benchmark is come to, an agent's commission rate is only decreased if fees in the following year do not reach a lower baseline amount of money. I currently keep 85 percent of all my deals' commissions; plus I receive sponsorship checks of 5 percent from the commissions that the agents I sponsored receive. If you'd like to learn more about being sponsored into Realty Professionals for America's wonderful plan, please call me directly within 267-988-2000. Getting My Real Estate License One of the things that I did in the summer of 2005 after leaving my full-time job was to make plans to get my real estate permit. Getting my real estate license was something I always was going to do but never seemed to have the time to do it. I'm certain you've heard that excuse a thousand times. People normally say that they're going to do something soon as they find the moments to do it, but they never seem to find the time, do individuals? I try not to let myself make excuses for things. So I've made up my mind before I ever in your life left my full-time job that one of the first matters I would do was to get my real estate license. I just enrolled in a school called the American Real Estate Initiate for a two-week full-time program to obtain my license selling real estate in the state of Pennsylvania. Two terrific individuals with a world of experience taught the class, as well as I enjoyed the time I spent there. Immediately after handing in the course at the American Real Estate Institute, I booked the next available day offered by the state to take the state exam. My teachers' advice to take the exam immediately after the particular class turned out to be an excellent suggestion. I passed the assessment with flying colors and have used my license often times since to buy real estate and reduce the expenses. If you are likely to be a full-time real estate investor or a commercial real estate real estate investor, then you almost have to get a license. While I know a few people who don't believe this, I'm convinced it's the only technique. I worked on one deal at $3 million from where the commission to the buyer's real estate agent was $75, 000. By your time my broker took a share, I stormed with $63, 000 commission on that deal only. With the average cost per year of being a realtor running with regards to $1200 per year, this one deal alone would've paid for the real estate license for fifty-three years. Not to mention all the other fringe benefits like having access to the multiple listing service offered too many realty in this country. While there are other ways to get access to typically the multiple listing services or another program similar to the software, a real estate license is a great way to go. Some of the negatives My spouse and i hear over and over again about having your real estate license is the news that you have to disclose that you are realtor when buying a home for anybody who is representing yourself. Maybe I'm missing something, but When i don't see this as a negative at all. If you're proficient in the art of negotiation, it's just another hurdle you will have to deal with. I suppose you could end up in a lawsuit where a court in law could assume because you are realtor you should know each one of these things. I don't spend my life worrying about the zillion ways I can be sued any more than I concern yourself with getting hit by a car every time I cross the road. a/n: the trend of giving my fics titles in filipino continues. this is part of a project ive started called “500 words a day”, where i try to write at least 500 words a day, whether it be fic or just an original blurb. i hope i pull through with it, because i’ve always wanted to just write more. hope you enjoy!
word count: 891
“Connor?”
You don't know anyone at this party. It's a lavish one, filled with people dressed to the nines in oufits that probably cost thousands of dollars, all of them holding their drinks like they were precious diamonds. You on the other hand, are dressed in the same piece you wore at that one wedding, and all you want to be holding in your hand is -
Connor stands beside you, clasping his hands behind his back. Every once in a while he unclasps them to adjust the fabric of his clean suit, or to fix the cuffs of his suit. He's stiff, you notice, for an android built to integrate smoothly with humans.
“Connor,” you try again, but he refuses to meet your eyes. The LED resting on his temple cycles between blue and yellow, his eyes darting from person to person. Is he too busy scanning potential threats, or is he just avoiding you? “Connor.”
He jumps at the sound of your voice, his arms falling to rest at his sides. He still looks tense, his brow slightly furrowed, his mouth drawn in a tight line. “Yes?”
“I thought you were broken for a second there,” you say. You move closer to him. He visibly relaxes. “You see anything?”
“Nobody here is suspicious,” he begins, glancing at you as he looks at people in the crowd, “but all their criminal records are clean.”
“Too clean?”
“Exactly.” Connor's fingers brush against yours, and you swear you see his LED go red. “Given their ages, it's extremely unlikely that they would have commited no crimes at all. I believe their records have been wiped by an external source.”
“Not even trespassing? They used to be teenagers. Teenagers do dumb shit.” You lean against the wall slightly, still trying your best to look elegant. “Well, what do you think?”
Connor pauses. He looks back out into the crowd, about to say something when -
“Hello,” a man strides up to you, dressed in a suit that almost seems to glitter in the dim light of the hall you're in. “I can't help but wonder why you're all alone here.”
“I'm - “ What in the hell – I have Connor with me - “I'm not alone.”
The man seems to get closer, and the glitter on his suit becomes blinding. Not beautiful, but unbearable and annoying. His voice is biting, mocking even. “You look like it. A pretty thing like you shouldn't be alone at a party like this.”
“Thank you, but I'm really not alone here,” you say. There's a growing tightness in your chest. The man just laughs.
“Listen, alone or not, I just think you're the most beautiful person in this room right now.”
You flush, but the compliment is cheap. “I'm flattered, but I'm sorry?”
“Don't make me repeat myself, darling. This –“ He looks at you, looking you up and down like some sort of display, and then at Connor, with a look of distate on his annoyingly suave face - “this android your date?”
You glare up at the man. You feel Connor tense beside you, and that's enough to send a burst of anger tumbling out of your mouth. “And if he is? What are you going to do about it, hmm? Make me look bad at this fancy party? I don't know who you are, and I'm sure as hell that - “
Connor says your name, a tremble in his voice, and clasps his hand around yours.
Your anger disappears like dust in the wind.
Oh.
“I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you've made my partner very uncomfortable.” Connor holds your hand tightly, but not roughly. It's almost like he's trying to shield you, just not with his entire body. “Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave.”
That earns a chuckle from the man. “Get off my back, will you? I'm just trying to - “
“Don't make me repeat myself,” he says lowly, echoing the man's words, and a shiver runs down your spine. Connor glares down the man, who eventually walks away, grumbling to himself.
As soon as he leaves, Connor sighs.
“Are you okay?” you ask, and Connor just looks at you.
“I should be the one asking that,” he mutters. Blinking, his LED cycling from a blaring red to a serene blue. “Are you alright?”
“Just annoyed.” You use your free hand to brush your fingers through your hair, and before you know it, the words come tumbling out of your lips - “Wait a second, were you jealous?”
“No!” Connor replies quickly, too quickly. It's almost comical how he seems to cave into himself after that, backpedaling furiously. “No, I wasn't. That wasn't a situation that called for jealousy. I was simply – uncomfortable with the way he was treating you.”
He doesn't let go of your hand though. You move your fingers to intertwine them with his. He flinches, but he doesn't look tense anymore. Something that looks like a smile rests on his lips.
“Let me say it again, Connor,” you say, calmer this time. “Are you okay?”
Connor stays silent for a while, simply looking at you with – adoration?
“I'm perfectly fine.”

my zero waste progress (& DIY oat milk recipe!)
Tumblr media
you'd have to be living under a rock to not have heard the term "zero waste" thrown around. next to "adaptogen", i am predicting it's one of those buzzwords of the last year. and why not? even though it sounds like a phase and trendy, i am whole-heartedly on-board with zero waste becoming a thing that we just all do without thinking! zero waste doesn't have to mean that you absolutely create no waste at all, but an overall catchphrase for people trying to make steps to cut down on waste in order to live as zero waste as they possibly can in that time of their life.
making substitutes and compromises for the good of humanity and the planet. i'm all in for that. it also goes hand in hand with a thifty, frugal and minimalist lifestyle.
so i wanted to share some "zero waste" or more ecological changes i've made over the past year and some goals of mine for next year. maybe it’ll give you some ideas or hopefully inspire you a little to try something out!
Tumblr media
i feel proud that 2018 was the year that we've really hunkered down and got more serious about zero waste and the switch to a more ecological, sustainable household.
pre-2018 there have been some really ecological switches we've already made. we started composting within the first two years or so that we moved to budejovice, and lucky for us, our landlords have a compost heap that they kindly let us put our bio into, which in turn fuels our building's garden! pretty neat. since we started doing this, we only have to take out the (small sized bin) trash about once every three weeks! hooray! that may sound strange, but there’s nothing stinky in there since we have a separate compost container which is emptied once every couple of days (choose something with a lid that closes completely!).
of course we've been recycling (no brainer), always bring shopping bags with us when we go (always on foot) to the supermarket and throw almost no plastic away.
we also had been using old holey socks as a dusting rag and plastic produce bags as "saran wrap". we've never bought saran (plastic, cling) wrap here before.
since the beginning, we've bought compostable dog poo bags for ferdie. (tip: it's better to dispose of these in bio bins vs. trash bins where they'll decompose slower because the trash isn't allowed to aerate like the compost is)
i'm very passionate about purchasing only recycled toilet paper as entire areas are deforested just to make new, fluffy toilet paper. #knowbetterdobetter
we bring our own containers, cups and utensils when we travel or go on day trips. i’ve found that glass jars make excellent “tupperware” containers as well as impromptu wine glasses for a picnic. if i were in the market for a new travel tumbler, i’d definitely spring for a stojo collapsible tumbler! that’s always my problem that i bring my tumbler and then it takes up space for most of the trip, unused.
alex is very adamant about unplugging nearly every appliance when not in use. with how expensive electricity is in europe, it helps a lot not to having a computer sucking it up! it's also much better for your battery appliances to unplug from the wall as soon as they are finished charging, so you're also taking better care of your things.
Tumblr media
here are some recent changes we've made just over the past year.
-- eliminating use of aerosols. i personally decided i wouldn't buy any more, but the problem for a long time had been: where the heck can you find non-aerosol shaving cream? i found my answer in d'fluff shaving cream in a tub from LUSH. it smells like their rockstar soap and although it doesn't foam, i'm down with this change!
-- we switched to bamboo toothbrushes, which i had to order by mail because previously, there were no local shops that sold them! i have since found a couple so i think we're good to go now. before, i ordered from the bam and boo, which sent them so quickly even with a special, personalized note in czech which i thought was so sweet as they came from portugal.
-- choosing bar soap vs. liquid soap which has to be sold in packaging.
-- eliminating purchasing anything with palm oil or high fructose corn syrup (or glucose-fructose syrup, as it's known here). for years i believed in the myth that HFCS was banned in europe, but you can still find it in everything!
-- the switch from typical supermarket laundry soap and dishwasher tabs to an eco-label laundry soap (made from soap nuts) which is highly concentrated and therefore more ecological and more earth-friendly dishwasher tabs. both of these switches are more expensive than what we used to buy, so i totally understand going more eco-friendly isn't for everyone and all budgets. however, if you wouldn't notice an extra few dollars here and there, why not make this simple switch? i like the czech brand of laundry soap tierra verde out of brno. (why is everything cool is out of brno these days?)
-- switching from disposable feminine products to a medical-grade silicone menstrual cup has been a complete.game.changer. it's one of those things you kick yourself for not getting much much earlier. did you know a tampon applicator takes 500 years to break down? i went with first greener and am really pleased  that i did. as a menstruating human, this seems like one of the single biggest improvements you can make to take steps towards zero waste. cost was an barrier for me with this and not being able to shell out for one for awhile, but the company i purchased from often runs deals for only $10 (that includes international shipping). i’m pleased some companies are making menstrual products more accessible to women of all income levels.
-- right at the end of the year, i finally found reusable produce bags that were a reasonable price. hoorah!
-- we have nearly stopped buying paper towels, using regular old towels or other cloths instead.
-- purchasing our vegetables in the warmer months from a local CSA (community supported agriculture) vegetable box program cuts down both on plastic wrapping, supports local south bohemian farms and is just a fun, healthy way to make sure we eat loads of season veggies. it also challenges me to stop being lazy and cook or make something with them before anything goes bad. (for my local budejovice friends: you can order a vegetable box starting usually around june from u dobraka)
-- alex says he's most proud of our household's switch to alternative milks vs. dairy milk. this helps loads with water consumption, is far more ecological, and much more animal-friendly.  (alternative milk recipe at the end of this post - woo!)
Tumblr media
changes i would like to make in 2019
-- one of my challenges is zero waste hair products. most drugstore products are aerosol or just the typical tube. i think i will end up purchasing from LUSH's hair line as not only have i already raved about their products but i so appreciate their commitment to reusable packaging, as well as their vocal stance against animal cruelty.
-- do better with food waste. i have already eliminated a lot of issues i’ve had with food waste over the past year and meal planning helps SO MUCH with not only reducing waste, but also saving some crowns. i’ve made some great strides in the past year, i’d like to do even better in 2019 getting my food waste down to 0%. laziness can be a big (bigbig) factor here, and that’s a tough one to overcome! i will also try making or buying less products that i don’t finish.
-- i'd like to remember to start taking what few glass empties i have back to a supermarket to get a refund. this is extremely common practice in germany, but not quite as common here, and we normally just go to the normal glass recycle bin. it would be nice to start getting a few crowns back here and there vs. nothing!
-- i'd love to invest in a set of cloth linen napkins i'm actually proud to use! will look to a thrift shop or bazaar before checking a store.
-- collectively, one of our main focuses as a household is a reduction in goods which use plastic, single-use, throw-away packaging, such as musli, for example. buying musli or any cereal here in the czech republic is such a headache -- it is either expensive or contains palm oil, for the most part. there is one brand i like, but i find i am eating it over and over and get so tired of it. any of you out there DIY your musli or cereal? please share your wisdom!
Tumblr media
easy DIY recipe: oat milk
one of my big goals is to DIY even more. i already do quite a fair bit of DIY in terms of household products and foods, sauces that i can't buy in the czech republic, but i'd like to DIY more with products i already buy to avoid excess packaging and saving money. in the first few days of the year, i've already decided i will no longer buy oat milk at the store (40kc or $1.70 per liter) and instead, make it. it is startlingly easy to do, takes only 10 minutes of active time and can be a huge money saver! this recipe also happens to be zero waste as you can use the remnants.
you'll need...
-- a blender -- cheesecloth (or similar) -- large pitcher -- 1 cup of oats (your choice) -- 1 liter (approx. 4 cups) of water -- 1-2 TB honey or maple syrup -- 1 liter glass bottle
1) soak your oats in plenty of water for at least an hour.
2) rinse your oats and plop them in the blender with the 4 cups of water and your optional tablespoon of honey or maple syrup*.
3) blend blend blend!
4) place the cheesecloth securely over the pitcher (a rubber band helps). pour the oat milk mixture from the blender onto the cheesecloth so it strains, with the milk passing into the pitcher. wring out the cheesecloth to make sure you've got all excess liquid.
5) pour the strained oat milk from the pitcher into a 1+ liter glass bottle which will be your "milk bottle" and pop in the fridge.
6) shake vigorously before each use. consume within 2-3 days.
7) scrape off the oat bits from inside the cheesecloth and store in the fridge - you can easily tuck them into your morning oats when you make your next pot of oatmeal or porridge!
use this oat milk anywhere you would typically use milk: in your cereal, coffee, oatmeal (double down!), wherever.
* 1 TB of sweetness is just enough to give it a similar sweetness as dairy milk has, 2 TB if you like it a teensy bit sweeter - even this does not taste “sweet”, so to speak. experiment.
Tumblr media
finally, i feel like i need to give a biiiiig shout out to polly - former expat/travel blogger turned absolute zero waste maven at green indy blog and inspires me every day with thought-provoking topics i hadn’t even realized or considered she has loads of information on her blog, instagram and even runs e-courses helping people cut back on waste and save money.
i do want to state here that i am simply learning and am a student at this whole zero waste thing. i’m not an expert by any means and am not perfect. zero waste isn’t zero. this post is simply keeping track of my progress and hopefully a way to hold myself accountable for my goals. although i don’t think we all should be one of those people who can fit their trash in a jar or anything, there is a lot of work we can do. you don’t have to have a lot of money to “join the movement”. it’s not about going out and purchasing fancy bamboo utensils or whatever. it’s just about using what you already have, being creative and resourceful, and when something you have stops working or breaks, upgrade it (funding allowing) to a more ecological version.
how do you feel about the zero waste movement? i'd love if you shared a big win from the past year and maybe also something you want to improve upon as well! here's to a greener new year.
ps, you might like how i travel on a teacher’s budget or thoughts on living without stuff.

Futures Trading - Why Is It For You?
Tumblr media
Trade NAIRA
Wikipedia's Reply is: A Futures Market is a monetary market where people can exchange Forex Contracts.Well, what's a Futures Contract?
Trade NAIRA
It's important to Highlight the term Contract. The primary difference between the Forex Market and, say, the stock exchange is the Futures Market transactions contracts, not stocks of inventory. You aren't buying and buying a talk (or part ) of a provider.
It Is fairly straightforward to determine how commodities do the job. An airline, as an instance, agrees to buy 100,000 gallons of gasoline for their airplanes in the present market price, but doesn't take delivery until sometime later on.
Of fuel was 140/barrel along with other airlines had none whatsoever. They'd negotiated Futures Contracts with different oil companies years before when the amount of petroleum was less costly, and waited for delivery before 2007-2008. After the amount of oil is cheap , they will be purchasing Futures Contracts for shipping in 2011/2012.
For Every Futures Contract, there's a level of danger. Futures Contracts leverage threat against the value of their underlying asset.
Southwest Obtained risk. If the purchase price of crude dropped below the cost they paid, they paid more than they ever needed to. Simultaneously, they decreased danger since they believed that the purchase price of oil could go higher compared to price cost. In their situation, the leverage has been rewarding.
Now Examine the oil firms. They decreased danger, believing crude petroleum prices would fall under the price price they negotiated with Southwest. They obtained danger because the purchase price of oil climbed higher than the contract (consequently losing extra earnings they might have earned). In cases like this, their leverage wasn't like it could have been.
Here is  Where you stop and say,'' I am not Southwest Airlines. I am a single day dealer. I really don't wish to purchase 100,000 gallons of crude. How do I trade ?
Vast majority of foreign exchange contracts are exchanged, recognized that traders wish to trade foreign exchange exactly like major associations; individual traders would like to leverage their danger too. They also realize that small investors won't risk countless dollars on gallons of gasoline contracts or a lot of wheat. Hence, the CME chose to make an investment environment which would tempt individual investors to exchange currencies.
Bear in Mind, as little investor, you've got a Great Deal of exchanges Available to you for your own trading day.  To lure investors to trade foreign exchange, the CME made a market that created other trades moderate in comparison.
First The CME generated emini Futures made specifically for traders. The e in emini means they are traded electronically. You will have a trading platform directly on your desktop computer wherever your transactions visit the CME. The miniature means that the contract is a more compact variant of the specific same contract which the bigger institutions transaction.
The Hottest CME emini is your S&P500. This arrangement is based upon the S&P500 indicator which reflects the top 500 stocks at the NYSE. The S&P500 indicator is price-weighted, therefore a number of those stocks have significantly more weight or"significance" than many others. (bigger businesses can proceed the significance of the indicator lower or higher ).
And you thought trading Futures was only for commodities such as wheat, corn, wheat, crude oil.
Imagine For a minute you could trade each of the top 500 stocks in precisely the exact same moment. That would leverage danger. If one or even two shares didn't function well that day, you'd still have 498 additional shares to trade. It's not necessary to choose any particular stock.  Why? Since you're trading all of these. Obviously, it might cost a fortune to have the ability to exchange 500 stocks at the same time.
How
1) The S&P500 emini contract is quite liquid, meaning it has plenty of quantity, and a great deal of action. A great deal of volume means that you may enter and depart immediately, in as little as 1 minute.  These days, it isn't unusual to see 3-4 million contracts every day.
2) This type of a Completely digital environment. The CME doesn't have Market Producers who might refuse to meet with your transaction such as the NYSE. The CME publication is FIFO, first initially.
3) Commission to get emini Futures relies upon a Round Trip rather than in-and-out.
4)   The S&P500 transactions at 25 cent increments.   Pay attention is a little different... in case you gain 1 sign on your commerce, the payoff is $12.50, together with 4 ticks = $50. Evaluate a 1 re - Bid / Request difference without Market Producers with trading NYSE securities where the gap between the Bid and request could be important, particularly when quoted by a Market Maker that makes his living to the spread gap )
5) Trading Emini's way that you're simply seeing 1 graph, the exact same chart, daily, day in and day out. Wouldn't you turn into an extremely hot trader in the event that you just had to see 1 graph? Stock traders typically see a basket of shares simultaneously, flipping graphs forth and back for fear of overlooking any cost action.
6) Fundamentally, There's no research to perform every evening. Bear in mind, you're trading all of"500 stocks" in exactly the exact same moment.
7) Choice traders must be able to properly trade 4  Option traders could be correct and lose on their commerce because time wasn't their buddy and also the option expired worthless until they could earn a profit. Forex traders are just worried about two states: an advancing marketplace or even a declining market. Time decay isn't troublesome for traders.
8) Margin rates are beneficial to traders.  To exchange stocks, at the very least you would have to obtain a good deal of 100 stocks. A mean inventory is $25/share$2500 to get from the doorway. Following is a significant difference. The SEC defines a daily commerce for a trade that closed and opened within precisely the exact same trading day. A"pattern day trader" isn't any dealer who implements 4 or more transactions over a 5 day interval.  Day trading Futures doesn't have such limitations. A broker account requires much less capital. Most Forex agents permit you to start an account with only $2,500. This opens the trading Marketplace to small investors.
And exchange them"extended" (anticipating the contracts to move up). However, you can exchange futures short (anticipating the contracts to return ).   Why?  As a day trader, you would like to take complete benefit of the Marketplace's volatility. If you can't brief, then half of trading has been missing to you. In case you need to wait before the Marketplace swings back up so as to go into a trade, then on the trading times once the current market is down 200 points, then that may be a lengthy wait.
10) If You're  Trading using an IRA or 401k account, even once you exit a transaction, you do not need to await the transaction to"settle" until you use the exact same money for another transaction. 1 second after you depart your present Futures trade, the exact same cash is available for you for another transaction. With stock trading, even when you exit a trade, you might wait as long as 3 weeks to the cash to repay until you are able to trade with this money .
11) Since this really is Futures trading, rules initially meant for commodities also use to e-mini Futures.  Compare this to shares. . .hold a inventory less than 1 year, it's a short-term trade. You have to hold the stock for more than a year to meet the requirements for long-term capital gains. With Forex Currency, your trading has been broken down from the 60/40 rule, even though your ordinary commerce is two minutes or less. In the conclusion of the calendar year, your Forex agent sends you a 1099-b, a 1 liner, a web number of your entire trading, not every individual transaction.  The 1099-b will reveal $50,000, that's .  Doing your taxes is indeed much simpler as well. Your agent provides you the net entrance, not every transaction. You make only 1 entry in your tax return. Should you trade stocks, then you need to enter each transaction. If you're a day trader and exchange multiple shares, it might take hours to input each of the trades. With Futures trading, then you're finished in a snap.
12) Forex commerce just about Daily, round  The single day you can't trade Futures is Saturday.
13) Unlike shares which trade across multiple Exchanges and also have distinct Bid/Ask prices, there's only 1 exchange/1 cost for e-mini Futures and that's about the CME. Meaning for e-mini Futures contracts, there's just 1 cost the posted cost.
14) Your fills are ensured. If you're in a transaction and the e-mini cost goes through your supply, you become filled. This is sometimes an issue for smaller Forex dealers. You might be in a commerce waiting to depart with an offer to market. The Forex contract goes by your cost and you do not get filled. You then examine in fine print in your Forex Brokers contract they don't guarantee matches.
Contract, futures contracts don't expire worthless. You roll your Cash over to the contract, unlike choices that expire worthless

Hii! I honestly love your one shots so much, amazing work! I was wondering if you could write a one shot where beca writes a song for Chloe revealing her feelings about her and chloe hears it on the radio for the first time. Thank you so much!!
Sorry, it took me a while to write this, but I hope the story is worth the wait.
The song is ‘Together’ by Ryan Montbleau (YouTube link) and I really recommend listening to it!
AO3 Link
It’s weird how much can change over the course of one year. It’s something you don’t realize until after you graduate and suddenly you realize that you don’t know where you’ll be tomorrow, or the day after, or the day after that one, or even months from now. You won’t be in the same classroom with the same friends making the same jokes.
You might not even talk to them anymore at all.
At least, not in the way it used to be.
Not like living together all the time, not ever having to actually ask them to go out that evening because you all know it’s happening anyway.
It doesn’t take months to plan one evening, doesn’t cost 500 dollars to fly out to see each other, doesn’t end with unanswered texts and missed phone calls.
It’s okay, really, because you’re family now and family doesn’t break apart, not even after weeks of silence. You don’t give up on each other.
It’s just hard.
The not knowing.
1 Year after the USO tour
Chloe Beale never thought her life would change that much when she agreed to come to the Bellas reunion. She thought it’d be nice. They would see each other, sing together, and maybe even catch up on what they were all doing in life.
Never did she think it would lead to them going on a tour around the world. Never did she think it would end with her kissing some soldier while her best friend sets off on a new adventure on the other side of the world.
She always knew Beca would get there. Maybe not like this, maybe not so early, and definitely not without her. She thought she’d be there. That’s the one thing she had always been so certain about.
But they were different people. They weren’t so careless anymore, so free. She didn’t jump into showers anymore with total strangers, or only worry about her acapella group. They didn’t have casual boyfriends that really didn’t care that much that sometimes they only had eyes for each other (in fact, she always knew Tom kind of liked it. At least, in the beginning, when he thought it was just a thing she did to turn him on. Which he soon realized it was not).
But Beca had Theo, or something, and Chicago was cute and it looked like a future with just her and Beca, in whatever way, just wasn’t possible.
Chicago could give her the only thing that Beca couldn’t.
A certainty of tomorrow, and the day after.
And maybe that was enough.
Beca had her future planned out, after all. She had her tomorrows. All of them. And none of them included Chloe.
So why should she stay behind, not knowing what time would bring her? She’s done enough of that, the waiting, the not knowing. It feels like that’s what it has always been like with Beca, no matter how great everything was during college.
Chloe waited for her to realize how great she was. She waited for her to make a move. Then she waited for her to break up with Jesse, she waited for her to say something, anything. She waited for her even after Beca’s performance ends. After she sings Freedom Chloe stays backstage for a bit and waits for her. Again. Stupidly.
She waits but Beca never shows.
But then Chicago turns around the corner and she rushes into his arms because he is there. And it’s enough.
She wonders if she missed something.
She wonders if she made a mistake or missed a sign or not listened when she was trying to tell her something.
But it just feels like not enough.
Not Beca.
She would have been enough.
Just, not like this.
Not with this insecurity.
She’s spent enough time waiting on her to say or do anything, and Beca moving to L.A while Chloe moved to San Francisco was just the final push for her to know that she needed to let it go.
It was hard to understand what Beca was trying to actually say while being in the same room, let alone roughly 383 miles (yes, she looked that up).
Sure, she’d gotten better at it over the years, but when it came to figuring out Beca’s true feelings towards her she still sometimes feels like the same confused Chloe who had met Beca that day of the activities fair.
Either way, there was nothing to do now.
She’s still with Chicago. They don’t see each other much, but it didn’t matter. She has a feeling they both know an ending to their relationship is inevitable.
Beca is.. well.. she’s Beca.
She’s badass and doing what she does best and as far as Chloe knows she’s being amazing at it.
They talk.
But not like they used to talk.
Looking back, she almost can’t believe that this is the same girl that she used to share a bed with for a year long. The same girl who she’d wake up to every morning and who would tell her about her feelings (as well as she could) and make her coffee and then in the evenings Beca would sometimes slide an arm around her waist and cuddle into her and Chloe would always think just how close they were to the real thing. They were almost there. And she stopped trying to force Beca to tell her, because she knew it was going to happen. She wasn’t sure when but she was certain now.
She was certain until she wasn’t and then starting over was just too much.
And it was too painful now to talk.
Beca would ask her about Chicago, and Chloe would ask her about work, and if there were any new guys in her life.
It was the same conversation every single time, and part of her wondered if they kept asking those question in the hopes that someday they’d hear the answer they actually want to hear.
‘No Beca, we’re not together. In fact, I love you.’
‘Chloe. You know it’s been you all along. I’m not dating anyone not because I don’t have the time, but because I don’t want to.’
She doesn’t like to think about it too much. Because it doesn’t make it better. It doesn’t change the answers.
Beca won’t really talk to her, even though Amy has informed her that she is, in fact, struggling with something. It’s too bad that they’re not the kind of friends anymore that share everything. It really is too bad.
A week later she’s in her car on the way to vet school when she turns on the radio. It’s not something she often does, preferring to listen to her own Spotify list. But today she just doesn’t feel like it. For some reason, they just remind her too much of Beca and she can’t deal with that today. She woke up in a bad mood and being sad about Beca is the last thing she needs.
Which is exactly why it almost makes her roll her eyes when she hears the announcement on the radio. Of course, this happens today. Of all days.
“And still with us in the studio, we have producer and artist Beca Mitchell, who’s about to give us a live performance of her new song. Beca, can you tell us again why you decided to write this particular track?”
She wants to turn the radio off. She really does.
But something stops her.
“Uh..” Her friend stammers, and it brings a smile to her face. Apparently, not everything has changed. She’s still awkward. “So, like I said before, I don’t want to share too much, but this song is just really personal and it’s something I felt like I just needed to write. I uh- and my friends will vouch for this, I have a hard time expressing my emotions, and music has always really helped me. Which I guess is why I wrote this. For uh- closure, you know?”
The radio DJ chuckles. “I get it. Now, you go ahead and introduce yourself!”
“Alright,” She clears her throat and Chloe can start to feel her heart beating faster in her chest already. “So, this is Beca Mitchell and here’s my new song ‘Together’”.
Chloe is thankful for the morning traffic, for once, thankful that she can listen to Beca’s song without having to actually drive.
The second the song starts, she’s pretty sure she stops breathing at all.
She didn’t know Beca could play the guitar.
She also never thought Beca would go for a song like this. It’s quiet, and acoustic and something that she would have put on her playlist. Not Beca, definitely not. She likes mashups and beats and basically anything but this. The louder the better, sometimes. Loud enough to quiet the voices in her head, is what Chloe used to think.
But maybe that’s why she chose this. She’s finally letting that part of her speak.
It brings tears to her eyes instantly.
She starts singing then, and her voice sounds hoarse but as beautiful as Chloe remembers it. Sure, she’s heard Beca sing a million times before, but this is different. So very different.
“I’m not the way I’m supposed to beI’m supposed to be thankful for what I got.Things are not the way they’re supposed to beShe’s supposed to be here and she’s not.”
Chloe can’t believe what she’s hearing. First of all, it hurts to hear Beca’s obvious struggle. Is she unhappy? She truly hopes that she’s not, and if she is, she wants Beca to tell her already. To share.
And who is she talking about?
She wants it to be her. She does. But maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Right?
“If I was younger the stakes wouldn’t seem so highAnd as I grow older I fear I missed love’s callWell, we couldn’t be together as much as we’d have likedSo we won’t be together at all.”
She pretends she doesn’t hear the way Beca’s voice seems to shake a little more than usual, the way she can practically hear her throat closing as she tries to fight off her emotions. She herself doesn’t have too, however, and she knows she couldn’t even if she wanted to. Tears keep streaming down her face, clouding her vision. She knows that the guy in the car next to her has noticed, but she doesn’t care.
“And I knew the place where I’d bend upon one kneeIt was this one moonlit little spotAnd I knew the words I’d say as I showed her the ringThe ring I never bought.”
“Oh god.” She says, letting her head fall forward on her steering wheel, once again thankful for the traffic that still hasn’t moved.
“And if I was older maybe I wouldn’t have hesitatedAnd if I was younger I’d have built myself a wallWhen we couldn’t be together as much as we’d have likedAnd so we wouldn’t be together at all.”
It’s her, right? It has to be her.
It can’t be Jesse, because Beca keeps saying ‘her’. And as far as she knows Beca doesn’t have any other woman she’s interested in. Again, as far as she knows.
Traffic starts moving again, and she immediately pulls her car over to the side, stopping it completely before leaning back in her seat and closing her eyes. For some reason it makes her feel like she’s right there, actually listening to Beca. She focuses on the way her voice seems to gain confidence and she can practically see her now.
“And they say what’s meant to beOh, is meant to beAnd if it’s meant to be we’ll find our way eventuallyI’m trying to believe two hearts so caring and kindWere only beaten down by distance and timeOh, and we tried and we tried so hard it couldn’t be our faultWe’re just somehow better off not together at allAt allAt all.
And I’m not the way I’m supposed to beI’m supposed to be alright on my ownAnd things are just the way they’re supposed to beWe’re supposed to spread our wings now I supposeAnd as we grow older, who knowsWe may look back fondly on ourselves and recallWhen we couldn’t be together as much as we’d have likedAnd so we wouldn’t be together at all…”
The song ends.
She’s aware of the radio DJ and some other people applauding Beca but she can’t focus on it. It sounds like it’s all happening in another room and she hears pieces of the conversation but can’t make out the words.
She pulls out her phone, but she’s not even sure who to call or what to do. She has to do something of course, because if this really is about her it means that Beca loves her too, really loves her, and it means that she’s been vulnerable enough to not only admit it to herself but tell the whole world.
Chloe has been waiting for some kind of sign, gesture, all along. And this could be it. Beca could be braver than she ever has been or will be right now.
But she’s not sure, stupidly enough.
So she calls Amy.
“Red? What’s up?”
“Is it me?”
“Sorry? What?”
“Is it me, Amy. The song.”
She’s quiet for a good ten seconds.
“Yeah. It’s you.”
She sniffles loudly into the phone, unable to stop herself. “Why- Why didn’t she tell me?”
Amy sighs deeply. “Why didn’t you?”
“I- I tried. So many times, Amy, I tried.”
“So did she. In her own way, she tried. I uh- I’m not supposed to tell you, but she wanted to, she was going to do something, after the tour, but she ran into you and Chicago and- well.. I think you know what happened next.”
A fresh tear falls down her face. “She did what?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Where does she live?”
“L.A, you know that.”
She shakes her head, even though she knows her Australian friend can’t see it.
“No, I mean, do you have her address?”
Amy does, of course.
She hangs up and calls her teacher to tell them she won’t be there today. Beca’s address is only a 5 hour and 43-minute drive, she knows. She knows because she’s looked L.A up so many times.
It will be enough time for her to clear her head, figure out what she wants to say, and also.. to break up with Chicago.
Amy arranges most of the stuff while she focuses on her drive. She makes sure to ask what the rest of Beca’s plans are today, which (thankfully) includes her being off of work and hanging out at home, and then she calls her building and makes sure that Chloe can enter by providing her ID and name, this way the doorman won’t have to call up to Beca’s apartment. Thank god for Amy’s connections.
When she finally gets there her heart feels light and heavy at the same time.
Breaking up with Chicago went about as well as any breakup can go. He was a little bit upset about her doing it over the phone instead of in a week, when they’d see each other again. But then he pushes and kept asking why and Chloe finally just told him. He understood. In a way, he said he’d known all along. He knew they were on borrowed time.
He wishes her luck and it makes her smile sadly. He’s a good man, truly. Just not for her.
Beca’s apartment building is huge, and fancy looking. She really is doing amazing, even better than Chloe thought.
Her heart is hammering in her chest. She can’t believe she actually drove here. She can’t believe she’s actually doing this.
It makes her chuckle too. Because in a way, it’s like how it all started.
But instead of it being her shower, it’s her luxurious apartment in L.A. And she’s not planning to just burst through the door, not this time.
Five minutes later she’s standing in front of Beca’s apartment. She’s in her scrubs, still, not having had the chance to change before heading into school, and her hair is pulled up into a messy ponytail. She doesn’t care, not the smallest bit.
She knocks once, and then waits.
“Is that my pizza?” Someone calls out, and it almost makes her smile. She would have, if she weren’t this nervous.
“Uh. Yeah.” She answers, because she just wants Beca to open the door, and saying ‘no’ could make her ask more questions and she doesn’t have time for that.
Not ten seconds later the door is pulled open and there she is.
Beca.
She’s as beautiful as Chloe remembers. Even in her sweatpants with an old Bella shirt on and her own hair in a messy ponytail as well, strands falling down and framing her face.
“You’re not pizza.”
“No.” It’s hard to tell what Beca is feeling, even now that she knows.
“Chloe.” She then finally says, a smile appearing on her face as she exhales deeply. She must have been holding that, the redhead realizes.
“Beca.” Is all she manages to say, and then she pushes forward, wrapping her arms around Beca as tight as she can without actually hurting the other woman. Beca’s hands hang loosely by her side for a second or two before she brings them up and wraps them around Chloe and then they’re embracing in the hallway of Beca’s fancy L.A apartment building.
It lasts about two minutes before Chloe realizes she should probably start explaining. She pulls back, smiling softly as she watches Beca angrily wipe a tear from her cheek, clearly hoping that Chloe didn’t catch it. But she did, and she brings up her hand to wipe away the tears that fall from her other eye.
“Sorry.” The brunette mumbles, and it makes her smile even more.
“Don’t be. I cried the whole car ride here.”
“You uh- you drove?” Beca asks, confused.
Chloe nods in response. “I had to. I heard your song, Becs.”
She starts to ramble then, so fast that Chloe has a hard time catching all of the individual words. “So my manager totally wanted me to write something more personal and focused on my true feelings and I just didn’t know what to do because you know me, I always push and push my feelings away and then I found this song I wrote in the plane to L.A right after the USO tour and I didn’t want to at first but he liked it and I’m sorry for putting it out there like that. I wasn’t sure if you’d make the connection and if you did I didn’t want to mess up your life even more but I just really needed to-“
“Beca.”
“I really needed to tell my story because-“
“Beca, stop.”
She does, finally.
“I love you.”
The brunette’s mouth drops open again and now they’re just staring at each other.
“You uh- you love me?”
Chloe smiles, then nods. “Don’t you know that yet? I’ve been trying to tell you for the last 6 years.”
She frowns and avoids the redhead’s eyes, clearly trying to make sense of it all. “But uh- what about Chicago?”
She half shrugs. “He was what I needed in that moment, I think. He gave me the one thing you never could, certainty. I knew what he felt, for sure, and I knew where we’d be tomorrow, and the next day and I hadn’t had that for a long time. Plus, you were moving on too. There was no room for me in your life.”
“Chloe, there’s always room. You are my life.”
She smiles. “I know that now, I think.”
“I’ve been trying to tell you too, you know? For a long time. I just- I’m not very good at it. I think I was scared too. Still am, a little bit.”
“Even now that you know I love you?” She asks.
Beca nods. “Maybe even more so.”
Chloe frowns, clearly not understanding, and her silence is a sign for Beca that she needs to explain a little more. “It means I have something to lose. I mess things up, in case you didn’t know that yet. I push people away, always.”
“Beca you’re never going to lose me, not again. We did that already. I’m not leaving a second time. And I’m not letting you leave.”
She finally smiles then. A larger smile than Chloe has ever seen from her.
“I love you too.”
She starts to lean in, because really, they’ve waited long enough for this, but Beca puts a hand on her chest, stopping her.
“Wait, uh, one second. What about Chicago, and what happens next? I’m sorry, I know that these are big questions but I need to know. I want to be all in, but I need to know this first.”
She understands. “We broke up. I broke up with him on the way over, but it’s alright. It was inevitable, and we both knew it. He just wants me to be happy. And about our future? Together, that’s what I know for sure. We can do whatever you want. We could drive over to each other on the weekends at first, it’s not that far.”
Beca makes a face at that, which causes her to laugh softly. “Right, so.. there’s also the other option where I could transfer to the vet school in L.A, which wouldn’t be a problem, but uh.. I don’t want to impose or whatever. I know you have your life here and it might be a bit much for me to move in right away, plus-“
Beca doesn’t let her finish her sentence. Instead, she surges forward and connects their lips.
They move slowly against each other for a little bit, just enjoying the moment and enjoying the feeling of the other girls’ lips. That is, until Chloe gets impatient.
She deepens the kiss, her tongue stroking Beca’s lower lip before it’s granted access to the younger woman’s mouth, both of them now moaning. Beca wraps her arms around her neck and Chloe pulls on her waist to press their bodies closer together and she can’t believe how much has changed in just one day.
Beca pulls back a little to bite her lower lip, making her groan and the kiss suddenly becomes heated very quick, very fast.
That is, until someone awkwardly clears their throat and knocks on the still open door next to her. They immediately pull back, Chloe turning around in Beca’s arms to face the pizza delivery guy.
“Uh, pizza?”
“Right.” Beca says, then laughs. She hands him some money (way too much, but who cares) and then apologizes to him as he hands over the pizza.
Chloe only manages to smile sheepishly at him and Beca.
“Sorry about that interruption.” Beca says when they’re alone again. She’s walked further into her apartment now, and Chloe closes the door behind her, hoping nobody else planned to come by tonight.
“It’s fine. We have time now.”
It makes Beca stop and smile at her, apparently just realizing how true this is.
Because for the first time, they have a certainty of tomorrow together, and a week from now, and a month, and hopefully, a lifetime.
“Yeah. We do. Together, right?”
“Together.”

Spoonies helping spoonies
Recently a fellow spoonie reached out to me and asked me to help spread awareness for congenial hip dysplasia. Below is their story and a link to their gofundme trying to raise money for a procedure they need done.
—————————————————————
Hi! My name is Jacoby Phillips. I am 23 years old, and I was born with bilateral congenital hip dysplasia and Arthrochalasia Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I’ve had over 10+ surgeries between both hips before the age of 12.
I’ve recently found out that I have “severe arthritis” in both hips, osteopenia or osteoporosis (Z-Score varies per bone), faulty medical hardware in one hip circa 2005 that was essentially a failed medical science experiment that has caused many issues along with short stature of the leg, a femur rod that was placed 12 years ago to help heal a broken femur and is ill-fit for my leg that pushes painfully against my knee when attempting to bend my knee to even a 90-degree angle (like sitting on a chair), another failed medical procedure (the name of which I cannot remember as I’m not even sure when it was done, I only have X-ray evidence) where they kept my hip from flexing much at all in any direction that has caused complications all my life, an infection in the bone of my knee, the continuation of both hips being “most definitely still dislocated” according to my surgeon and X-rays, and now I need two total hip replacements and the old medical hardware removed within the next 2 months. I hope this is all coherent.
Unfortunately, these surgeries are incredibly expensive and out of state.I’m hoping to pay at least half of what I’ll owe for both surgeries. I know this is a lot to ask, and I wouldn’t if I had better options. I couldn’t work (due to hip dysplasia) long enough to become eligible for Medicare and because my current insurance is already government insurance, I’m not eligible for Medicaid (even if I were, it would not pay for out of state procedures). My insurance also does not pay for orthotics, which I’ll need two for my feet post surgery because I have no foot-arch and one leg may continue to be somewhat shorter than the other which will need to be corrected by a shoe insert. Such a custom orthotic will cost $500 alone.
Aside from that, I need to make sure I have money for local physical therapy for the next 6 months so I can learn how to do things I’ve never done before with the help of such an aide so I don’t dislocate anything else, the copay of which is $41 per session.
Let’s talk about the things this surgery will provide me and what I have lived without; I have never sat in child’s pose, in a pretzel, gotten up off the floor smoothly in one swift push up of my leg, gone bike riding, played much outside with friends as a child, jumped on a trampoline, ran, gone up stairs without pain (I’m almost too inflexible to do this at all, though I manage it). I cannot crouch, bend, sit on my knees, kneel, jump, or anything else that involves much hip flexibility.
I’ve been humiliated in working conditions due to not being able to do all of the tasks required in beginner jobs such as retail.
My childhood was filled with kids laughing at me, calling me slow, and mocking me for riding the handicapped bus.
More importantly, without this surgery, I will be rendered immobile in the foreseeable future. I want to live an active, healthy life. I want to do things I never thought I would; but I can’t do this without new hips.
With the new hips, I’ll be able to do all of these things - things I’ve never dreamed of actually being able to successfully do - and so much more.
Any and ALL help will probably make me ugly cry in gratitude. I know it’s not fair for me to ask anyone for anything, but I truly need this procedure. The best part of having the surgeries is that I’ll be able to keep a job in 6 months, if all goes well! I need to be able to fend for myself in this life, and without this surgery, I cannot truly begin to.
All I’ve ever wanted was to be like everyone else in physical ability, please help me attain such a privilege.
We like to believe hip replacement surgeries do not effect young people. We make jokes involving old ladies breaking their hips, and everyone laughs because it’s all in good fun. Unfortunately, anyone can eventually need such a procedure and some of us will inevitably need one, two, or even more in our lifetimes.
Congenital hip dysplasia is the #1 reason for a total hip replacement before age 50.
I’ve always known I would eventually have to get one replaced, but I never imagined it being so suddenly, and I was not prepared to hear that I’d need them both replaced. I always thought I’d be between 35-40 years old because, as many doctors as I’ve seen, radiologists nor doctors said anything about the extent of it’s damage until now. I’ve been in such a large amount of pain throughout my lifetime from dysplasia and apparently arthritis that I have no idea what a normal hip feels like.
There’s no pressure, but if you have a few dollars, please donate. GoFundMe’s minimal limit is $5 and even that helps immensely! If you can’t donate, please share the link so at least more people will become aware that these medical complications effect younger people more often than we’d like to believe.
Thank you so much. You’re going to completely change my life. I am so excited for these procedures.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7
Tumblr media
The next day, Tony called you back into the briefing room to get the specifics for Friday’s date. You were thankful that he and the team had a game plan for this. Tony planning things by himself was always dangerous. You had definitely been on the receiving end of Tony’s spontaneous plans, which usually never went the way he intended for them to go. Having the entire team, not just Tony, work on this eased your worries. Unfortunately, Natasha and Wanda were still working on whatever it was Tony had tasked them with. Clint and Vision were currently out on a last minute mission. So, it was just you, the three army veterans, and the billionaire. It made for quite the dynamic. You were currently seated at the table next to Steve while Sam and Bucky sat on the opposite side of you. Tony stood at the front of the room with a remote in his hand.
“FRIDAY, cue the presentation, please,” he bellowed.
“Right away, sir,” the AI replied. Instantly, the lights dimmed and a holographic projection of a presentation appeared behind Tony. Just as he was about to start his presentation, you spoke up.
“Did you really make a PowerPoint for this?”
“A stroke of genius, I know,” he retorted.
“Probably your best idea yet,” Sam smirked. Everyone laughed, minus Tony.
Tony cleared his throat, “Anyway, we’re going to go through a basic rundown on what’s going to happen Friday night. If you have any questions, please keep them to yourself. I don’t want to hear them.”
“What about-,” Bucky interjected.
“Barnes,” Tony warned, glaring at him.
“Hey, why don’t we-,” Sam started.
“Shush!” Tony cut him off. You rolled your eyes and smiled slightly. Those two could go on bothering Tony for hours if no one stopped them. Tony was never able to stop them himself, because he often got too caught up in their shenanigans. You always thought he secretly enjoyed it. So, it was up to either you or Steve to end it. But you weren’t going to stop them, at least not yet. It’s not that you didn’t want to hear what Tony had to say, you were just enjoying the friendly squabble unfold before you. They continued to bicker back and forth. You glanced at Steve and saw a small smile on his face. He was enjoying it, too. He caught your eye and you gave him a knowing look.
Steve leaned in close to you and whispered in your ear, “We should probably put an end to this.” You could feel his hot breath on your skin. It sent a slight shiver down your spine.
“Be my guest,” you offered, gesturing towards the group.
“But I always do it,” he protested.
“They’re your friends, Steve.”
“They’re your friends, too.”
“They listen better to you.”
“That’s not true and you-”
“Ooh, Capsicle and Y/N are having a moment,” Tony blurted. You immediately looked away from each other, your cheeks both dusting pink. Was it really a moment? It didn’t feel like anything special. It felt normal, natural even, being that close to him. You didn’t want to overanalyze it, though, not right not at least.
“Can you get on with the presentation, please, Tony?” you asked, hoping he wouldn’t bother you and Steve any further. That was the last thing you needed.
“I don’t know, can I?” he retorted. You looked at him flatly. “Okay, let’s get started. I’ve already set up a time and place for Friday,” he clicked to the first slide with the name of the restaurant, ‘Le Bernardin’, and the time, ‘7:00pm’. “It’s fancy, but not high end.” That most likely meant it was high end. “I personally know the owner and have informed him of the situation. So if anything does get a little weird, he won’t be freaked out.” He knew the owner personally? Yep, definitely high end.
The second slide popped up and you nearly fell out of your chair. This slide had a picture of the interior of the restaurant. The walls were all covered in dark wood panels. A giant abstract painting, that had to of cost thousands if not millions of dollars, hung on the wall. In the middle of the dining area was a table covered in a satin white table cloth. Four giant, rectangular, glass vases sat atop it with giant hydrangeas delicately placed inside them. Each table also had satin white table cloths. The chairs alongside the tables were plush and dark brown. The place setting was incredibly over whelming. There were way too many spoons and forks to make sense of. And the dishes! They were rimmed with gold. You hoped to God it wasn’t real gold.
“Not high end, my ass!” you hollered. “There’s no way in hell I can afford this place. Not to mention, I’ll stick out like a sore thumb there.”
“Not to worry,” he waved. “I’ve got the bill covered. You deserve to go somewhere a little fancy. And regards to ‘sticking out like a sore thumb’,” he put in air quotes, “I’ve also got that covered.”
You crossed your arms over your chest and slumped down into your seat. “Okay, okay.”
“Good.” He switched to the next slide. “We’ll have you take a cab to the restaurant. We can’t have you arriving in style in one of my easy to distinguish cars. You’ll go up to the hostess and she’ll lead you to the table. You’ll talk to the guy and when we think we’ve gotten all the information we need from him, we’ll give you the signal to get the hell out of there. You’ll say something to him along the lines of ‘Hey’-smirk or something, I don’t know-‘wanna get out of here?’” he said in a sultry voice.
“Channel my inner Tony, got it,” you replied.
“Exactly. Then you’ll lead him out the front and we’ll be there waiting for him.” You nodded.
“Tony and I will be up in the air circling the building to keep a look out for any suspicious behavior,” Sam added.
“Bucky and I will be on the ground doing the same thing. Bucky will be stationed at the front door and I’ll be at the back.” Bucky nodded as Steve continued. “He’s an important guy to HYDRA, so we suspect he’ll have guards or something in the surrounding area.”
“As for your date, here’s what to expect,” he said as clicked to the next slide with a few photos of the man in question. You grimaced. His first photo was a cliché mirror selfie. That was always a telltale sign of douchebag. He had dark brown slicked back hair. It was pretty obvious he used way too much styling gel, because his hair looked greasy. He had a pointed nose and a well defined jawline. He was muscular, but not nearly as much as Steve or Bucky. He looked very stoic in his photos. He definitely gave off a narcissistic vibe.
“This is William Rowland. A real catch, as you can see. We know he’s pretty high up in HYDRA’s ranks. He’s not at the top, but he should have top level information that hopefully you can get out of him. Let’s see, his bio says he’s 6’3, loves dogs…and promotes world peace. I’m pretty sure he’s killed a guy.”
“So I’m going on a date with a murderer, great,” you replied flatly.
“At least he likes dogs,” Bucky chimed in.
“You know,” you paused, “this actually might not be the worst date I’ve ever been on.” They all looked at you with skepticism.
“Really?” Steve asked. You nodded.
“Do tell,” Sam encouraged.
“Okay, so I had this friend in high school who set me up on a blind date. She said she thought we’d be a perfect match. I believed her and agreed to go on a date with this mystery guy. I was on my way to meet him, when some guy rammed into the side of my car. I pulled over and he got out of his car and started yelling at me for hitting him. It was clearly his fault, but he wasn’t convinced. He kept saying he had to be somewhere, so he couldn’t wait for the cops to come. We exchanged information and he went on his merry way. I called the cops anyway to get things sorted out.
“By the time I got to the restaurant, my date was already there. I saw him from afar sitting in the back of the restaurant. He looked oddly familiar, but I thought it was probably just because we went to school together. But when I got closer, he turned out to be the guy who hit me just minutes earlier.” Sam and Bucky erupted in laughter.
“Nuh uh!” Sam bellowed.
“No way!” Bucky yelled.
“Yep,” you nodded.
“Wow,” Tony muttered. “Even I haven’t had a date that bad.”
“What can you do?” you shrugged. “Let’s just hope this Tinder date goes better.”
You noticed Steve was awfully quiet. You gave him a quick glace and noticed his jaw was clenched. Was he…angry? You had no idea why. Was he upset by the story you just told or your upcoming date? He seemed like he was hiding something from you. You two had an open and honest relationship with each other. That meant you told each other everything. Every time someone got on your nerves at work, every time your coworkers didn’t do their job and you had to pick up their slack, every time a mission didn’t go the way he wanted it to, every time Tony pressed his buttons too much. Everything. You were determined to ask him what was bothering him later.
“Well,” Tony spoke up, breaking you from your thoughts. “That’s the end of my presentation. Any questions?” Bucky and Sam’s hands went up instantly. He turned to them with an annoyed look. “Not from you two,” he scolded. He turned to look at you. “Y/N?” he asked with calmer tone. You shook your head.
“Alright! We’ll regroup on Friday.” He gathered his belongings and left the room. Sam and Bucky soon followed suit. You and Steve were the only ones who remained in the room. You let out a heavy sigh and turned to face Steve.
“Alright Rogers, spill it,” you said a little more harshly than you intended.
“Spill what?” he asked. You rolled your eyes. You knew he knew what you meant.
“What’s bothering you,” you replied flatly.
“Nothing’s bothering me.”
“Steve,” you gave him a pointed look. He sighed and looked away from you.
“I don’t know how I feel about this,” he mumbled.
“About what? Me? The mission? Tony and his terribly expensive taste?” you asked hoping to lighten his mood with the last question. It worked because he let out a laugh.
“No no, I know exactly how I feel about Tony,” he looked at you with a small smile. “It’s you I’m worried about.”
“Me?”
“And the mission!” he added quickly. “You and the mission.”
“What are you worried about? I’m going to be in some the best hands in the entire universe. I’ll be alright, Steve,” you reassured.
“Yeah. It’s just-I don’t,” he paused as he rubbed the back of his neck, “I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to you,” he said barely above a whisper. You were slightly taken aback by his words. You knew you two were close. Extremely close for that matter. Was he saying that because of your friendship or was there something more there? There was definitely something in his tone of voice that was throwing you off, but you couldn’t put your finger on what it was. You shook off the pestering thoughts and replied.
“Well, if you’re so worried about that, let’s do everything in our power to prevent something like that from happening.”
“That’s the goal,” he said, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.
“I have an idea,” you smirked.
“What?” he asked apprehensively, but with a gleam in his eyes.
“Remember way back in the day when we first met?” He nodded. “I was sitting at the receptionist’s desk and Tony was there?” He nodded again. “And he kept poking me with-oh, what was it? Pencils?”
“Mhm” he nodded with a smile.
“And then you said to me, ‘Remind me later to give you some self-defense lessons. You’re going to need them around him, ’” you said in a mocking tone. Steve’s smile got bigger. “That was years ago, Steve. I’m still vulnerable to Tony’s pencil attacks!” you joked.
“We’ll start tomorrow,” he laughed.

I HAVE A LOT AND I REFUSE TO NAME THEM ALL. Particularly though? UH. (I seriously got up to turn the lights on an look at my bookshelf for this, so you better appreciate this answer.)
The first two on my shelf that I haven’t read are Go Set a Watchman and Memoirs of a Geisha. I’m probably going to read them on my next family vacation.
I have more. Believe me. I worked for a public library and bought books they took out of circulation that cost me 10¢ - you think I don’t have books I haven’t read yet?
8) Everybody always asks about winning a million dollars, but what would you do if you won only $500?
Buy a terabyte of storage. Maybe 2.
Buy a few months of Adobe CC Subscription
Buy a few books I’ve been wanting
Put some of the money towards new clothes that fit well
And lastly, put the rest in savings to keep me tied over until I get a real job
9) Favorite toy as a kid (or adult if you’ve still got any!)?
Probably my gameboy as a kid. As an adult, I’d have to say…can we count my Tabletop RPG stuff as a toy?
10) Is there a franchise you love unconditionally?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe owns my soul and I am not even sorry.
11) (SHOOT I FORGOT THIS WAS 11! Umm…) Favorite ice cream flavor?
Haupia Ice Cream
