We’ve made oath, you and I.
Give me your hand I’ll hold,
And live with me till old!”

Lan Xichen x F! Reader (18+)
Tumblr media
Lan Xichen lost his beloved during winter. In his solace, his heart felt colder without her warmth.. his [Name]. The eldest Lan brother yearned to the point he fell ill. Wanji and Wei Ying found him in the cold, watching the snow fall.
One cup of Emperor’s Smile was enough for Lan Xichen to become drunk. Wanji had to pry the jar from him; “She will return.” [Name] was the best healer Gusu Lan had seen yet and her abilities were needed due a plague caused by a flood. Despite knowing she was an accomplished cultivator, he could not help but worry.
Alcohol always put Xichen in a joyous mood. Members of the Gusu Lan witnessed their leader’s flushed cheeks and excited smile turn wider the moment a familiar figure appeared. Her arrival signaled the beginning of spring, flowers now blooming where snow fell. [Name] stumbled slightly with the unexpected weight of Lan Xichen’s body. Lan Wanji moved to help but she made a motion with her hand, placing her arm around Xichen’s waist. “It’s quite a sight to see you like this” she murmured, maneuvering them towards his house. “You’re a sight…!!!” [Name] was a bit surprised, her eyes widening. “Is that so?”
 “Mm.. so pretty..”
With some effort, she slid the door open. “My eyes are always drawn to you..” It was a bit difficult to focus on a task when Xichen’s dark and gentle eyes followed her every movement. “Ah.. Xichen could you not..—!” Her footing stumbled, tripping the two of them just at the edge of his bed. Xichen was quick to swivel their positions so that he would take the brunt of the fall.
“Shh.. shh.. it's alright.”
Xichen’s arms secured themselves around her sides, his breath ghosting her lips. [Name] could smell faintly the richness of the wine. “You're the only one for me..” he didn’t want anyone if it wasn’t her. Not knowing how to answer his drunken confession, she ushered him to bed, “Xichen, go to sleep.. you’re drunk.”
“Mmm.. alright.” Still, he could not. His eyes wandered down, and his mind focused on [Name]’s lips. They were pink, like the flowers outside. Could he taste the nectar of said lips? “..Do you want... to kiss?” He whispered, eyes gazing up at [Name] from underneath his long lashes, cheeks growing even rosier.
“You’re drunk.. I can’t kiss you right now.” Lan Xichen blinked, “Oh.. right.. I.. I forgot” he muttered, rubbing his temples with his fingers. [Name] felt his hand reaching back, holding her nape gently as his head dipped subtly, their foreheads touching. “Kiss later..?”
[Name] blushed under the gaze of his thick lashes. He was too pretty. “If.. you remember, then.. yes..” Lan Xichen’s heart swelled and his body grew warmer at the notion of her acceptance, his ears deaf to all but her ‘yes’. He closed the distance between them, in an gentle yet eager manner. His body pressed closer to hers. “Mmph!” Lan Xichen’s other hand settled on her cheek, cupping it softly. His tongue grazed her mouth and his fingers touched her headband before [Name] pulled away hastily, one of her hands flying to her lips, “X-Xichen.. I meant once you were sober..!”
Embarrassment seeped down to his bones, stammering apologies, “.. I'm... I'm sorry, I..” Despite this, the longing look in his eyes betrayed that he would have done it again in a heartbeat.
The newness of this feeling unsettled the female cultivator, making her wonder if she was drunk as well. “Rest for now. I will see you in the morning.” “Yes, yes.” Lan Xichen murmured, his face a crimson red. He stood up, but instead of leaving, his steps faltered and he collapsed back onto the bed, his eyelids fluttering shut. He was already half asleep. The first time he ever got drunk, he had to do it in front of the love of his life. Such mortifying luck.
[Name] stared at Lan Xichen’s sleeping form, how beautiful he looked even in a messed state. Brushing away some of his long hair from his face, she tucked him in.
Tumblr media
The morning sun and chirping birds alerted Lan Xichen that he had woken late. Everyone was up at 5 in the morning, though that was the last thought in his mind when he opened his eyes. His head throbbed like thunder, and he instantly felt the nausea setting in. Xichen’s body was sluggish as he turned his head to try to avoid some of the light that was entering through. He winced in pain, his face pale in his misery. Oh no, he was going to...
“Uwah!” Lan Xichen cried, and he threw himself off the bed to rush towards a bucket at the very least.
Albeit they’d already broken rules last night, merely by being alone together, [Name] still decided to go in and wake up their leader. Also because Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian kept ushering her towards Xichen’s quarters. She had a feeling they knew something.
“Zewu-Jun..?” She waited patiently outside, announcing her presence first. When she heard distressing sounds, [Name] peeked inside. “Xichen are you alright?”
“I...” Lan Xichen panted, face flushed as he hovered over a bucket, dry-heaving into it. “... I'm dying...”
It was so embarrassing he truly felt death was a better option. The headache, dizziness, and nausea all welling up in his body only made things worse. Tears pricked the corners of his eyes, and he looked pathetic. It was not a pretty picture. Lan Xichen was an absolute mess. Closing the door, [Name] rushed to him, her feet making soft noises. Kneeling down beside Xichen, the first thing she did was hold his hair, gingerly moving it away from his face. Her palm hesitantly settled on his back, rubbing comfortingly in circular motions. “I... I feel so sick...” Lan Xichen muttered, his eyes closing. He was trying his best not to vomit, but it was so difficult...
He was ashamed to let [Name] see him like this; she was so gentle though, and her touch was so soft, that it was hard not to relax in her presence. Lan Xichen did not want her to see him when he was at his worst, but he was also glad that she was here. He couldn't possibly bear this alone..
[Name] finally spoke, “Why did you end up drinking so much? Especially with your tolerance..” she chided gently. Lan Xichen panted, his stomach turning at the memory that haunted him. How embarrassing…
“...”Lan Xichen stared at the ground, feeling tears in his eyes. She was stunned by this sight, wondering what could’ve possibly made their leader this depressed. “I was thinking of you..” He admitted, his voice breaking a bit, the floodgates threatening to burst. If they opened now, it’d be hard to close them again. “I missed you.. so much..”
“Miss me..?”
Lan Xichen nodded. He couldn't even look up, because tears were falling from his eyes now, wetting his long, dark lashes. His voice was quiet, but the pain was evident, and he couldn't stop himself now. “Being away from you is the worst thing I can endure...” [Name]’s sleeve was grasped by his fingers as if Lan Xichen couldn’t dare touch her.
He didn't mean to be so emotional like this, but when the liquor loosened his tongue, there was no stopping it. “I don't know how to live without you..”There was a pang in her chest at those words. How could their honorable Zewu-Jun says that seriously.. as if her existence was vital to his??
[Name] watched as tears fell down his pale cheeks, automatically reaching to wipe them. “I’m right here..?” Her confused reply broke his heart, silently pleading that she understand the meaning behind them. How torturous it was for him that she wasn’t near. His throat tightened, “It's not the same.”There was this urge to embrace her, to feel that softness of her body, assuring she wasn’t a visage of his longing thoughts. Instead, he reached out a shaky hand, his eyes wet and desperate. “Please... don't leave me again..”
One of his hands intertwined with hers. “I feel so lost without you..” It was a gamble to admit how dependent Xichen was on [Name]. He feared that they’d be like his parents—his father who fell deeply in love with his mother even when she did not return those feelings. Would his beloved spurn him too? Would Xichen live the rest of his days cursed to love a woman who did not love him back? It hurt, it ached so much. He would die for her, if only to end this pain.
“Is that why you kissed me yesterday..?” Lan Xichen nearly choked, not expecting to be questioned about his actions so openly. He swallowed the embarrassment, his fair skin hot. “Yes...” He admitted, his heart racing so fast that he could barely breathe. “I couldn't stop myself...” Unconsciously, Xichen leaned closer, getting quieter until he was practically muttering into [Name]’s ear. “You're all I can think about..” Both of their cheeks turned red, their bashfulness manifested into their skin. Xichen closed his eyes, that nauseous feeling returning, his stomach churning—waiting for the cold knife of rejection. “I.. I'm sorry...” He whispered, and he looked even more pale. If [Name] didn't care for him, then Xichen could not live. Tenderly, her hand pushed some of his hair back. “Perhaps let’s have you take a bath and we can talk afterwards, mn?” She left his side, working quickly to fill his bamboo tub with water. His eyes followed her as she left the room, and his heartbeat grew even more frantic.
“I.. will wait for you outside.” [Name] was swift in exiting, waiting outside his house to give Xichen privacy. She got into lotus position, mediating to calm her racing heart. Was this true? Could their leader, the eldest of the Twin Jades of Lan, have intimate feelings for her..?
Lan Xichen sat in the bath, letting the warm water soothe away his aches and pains. There was a tinge of anxiety that [Name] would flee after he acted a fool in front of her last night and even kissed her, she’d still comforted him.
Stepping out of the bath, dressed in nothing but a cotton robe, Xichen overheard voices coming from outside. “Please senior, we need you!” [Name] looked into the pleading eyes of her junior and could not refuse. “…Alright. I will be there in a moment.” A sigh escaped her mouth; a few seconds passing before she spoke loud enough for Lan Xichen to hear her on the other side. “Xichen, are you there?” He stood in front of the door, hand resting on it. His fingers twitched, contemplating if he should open it and come face to face with [Name]. “It seems I am needed elsewhere. This junior needs my help. Is it possible for us to talk later?”
Xichen rested his forehead on the door. He felt sick again. Though the Gusu Lan leader tried his best to act normal, and pretend that nothing was bothering him, he was internally panicking and about to cry from discomfort. He couldn’t burden her with these feelings, so he bottled them up deep inside his glass heart. “Yes..” Finally, he slid the door aside, momentarily forgetting he was barely covered by the robe’s thin fabric.[Name]’s eyes briefly wandered down before she quickly composed herself. "Of.. Of course.." Xichen forced out with a smile, trying to sound as normal as he could. "It won't be a problem.."
The day was grueling for both. [Name] had yet to record her experiences that occurred during her mission and travel, on top of helping her juniors whilst Xichen focused on his duties, which he’d neglected a bit. Before they knew it, all of the disciples were getting ready for bed. [Name]’s feet moved softly towards Xichen’s quarters. She hoped he wasn’t cross; after all, she was still unsure how to approach the topic of romance. “Xichen, are you awake?”
He had been watching the door intently. Truthfully, he would have waited for her all night. His heart raced with anticipation, “I'm still here..” He replied softly, his voice barely above a breath. “Come in.” Xichen was lying on his bed, his face hot with emotions. He yearned for her presence with him.
“I apologize. It took a long time to return.” [Name] seemed exhausted and yet, she stood in his room. “I would wait an eternity for you..” After being left alone with his thoughts, Lan Xichen cared little for this shameless behavior. He felt a strong need to touch her.
Before she could respond, he quipped, “You seem tired. Are you alright?” “Ah.. I’m fine. The juniors were eager to learn some techniques and it tired me a little.” Her lips molded into a gentle smile; [Name] was always fond of her juniors since they reminded her of more tender times. “...I see.” Lan Xichen replied, trying to keep his response calm and collected. It made him a little jealous to see how someone else could bring a smile to her face. Especially the way [Name] was easily moved by that junior’s pleas. Xichen wondered if he begged too, would she respond in the same manner? The next few words slipped out even as he tried to bite them back, but he was just so desperate to know. “By any chance... did you find him attractive..?” Her brows furrowed in thought, “Who?”
“This junior that was so effectively able to move your heart into aiding him when you’d already promised to speak with me.” Lan Xichen wanted to cover his mouth. He knew that his jealousy was childish, but he couldn't help the way he felt, no matter how hard he tried.
Finally understanding his worries, [Name] bit her lip. Part of her wanted to tease Xichen, as this was so unlike him but she also didn’t want to accidentally hurt him with her words. “My junior is handsome… but he is not the one that caught my eye.” At this, Xichen’s fingers twitched. His felt anxious as to who was the fortunate individual to capture his beloved’s interest. “There is only one person who is most beautiful to me.”
Blood thundered in his ears, his heart about to beat out of his chest. "And... who might that be..?" He quietly replied, his voice trembling with anticipation. Xichen held onto the tiniest string of hope, almost resigned and prepared for the worst. He held his breath, waiting for [Name]’s lips to utter a name that would either destroy or save him. Her answer would dictate the rest of his life.
“Lan Huan is most beautiful, of course.”
His hands shook from excitement, and he felt himself grow dizzy from the rush of emotions... but all he could do was let out a soft sigh, his breathing still shallow from relief. This was more than he knew how to handle. “Are you alright..?”
“I...” Lan Xichen felt the urge to pull her close and never let go. “I love you...” He uttered with conviction. [Name] smiled, accepting his feelings and the internal turmoil that had now settled. Grabbing his hand, she rested her cheek on it before planting a tender kiss on his wrist. For this first time since he saw her again, Lan Xichen felt calm. His fingers stroked her soft skin. [Name] blushed under his lovestruck gaze. Never did she imagine the beloved Xichen, whom everyone admired and fawned over, would look at her in this way. Was this real? As if to test this newfound knowledge, she removed her cheek from his caress, which he’d been happy doing. “May I touch you..?”
Lan Xichen's face turned red but he nodded. “Of course...” He would never refuse her anything. [Name] could have asked him to fall on his own sword and he would have obeyed without a single reproach. Having his consent, [Name]’s hand slipped inside his robe, running her fingers over his smooth and pale skin. Xichen couldn't stop himself from gasping. This.. felt good. It was easy to get overwhelmed with such an intimate experience. Xichen’s breath caught in his throat, rendered weak against her touch. Although her hand beneath his robes was gentle, it was like a trail of fire especially when…
[Name] ran a thumb over a pink bud, pausing when Xichen jumped a little. “Is this too much..? Shall I stop?”
“Y-No...” Lan Xichen replied, his voice barely above a breath. He sounded like he was ready to melt, his body trembling and aching with love and lust. Although, [Name]’s touch was more addictive than anything in the world. He couldn't get enough of her. He didn't want her to stop, and he would let her do anything she wanted to him. He wanted more..
Obliging, [Name] was quick to undo his robe, letting the material fall off his shoulders. She marbled at his strong physique and smoothness of his pale skin. “Someone as perfect as you..” her hand cupped his cheek, leaning in for a kiss. Xichen’s eyes widened after the initial surprise, before closing them and kissing back. His hold was gentle yet firm, holding onto the back of her head, keeping her there as his tongue made a soft intrusion. “Mmn..” when they pulled away, a thin string of saliva connected their mouths.
Xichen’s hands worked swiftly, pulling at her clothes till she was bare. “Mine.” He squeezed one of her breasts, his mouth taking the other. “A-aah..!” Their bodies collided with desire; soon enough, Xichen parted her legs, “Xichen wait.. nghh.. not there..” It was all new, to touch another this intimately. The former had accidentally found his brother’s stash of ero books, flipping through them in intrigue. “I can’t wait to try all kinds of things with you.” His hand found hers, their fingers intertwining. [Name] swallowed, nodding as she watched Lan Xichen with half-lidded eyes. “Hnghh!” Her hands clutched the sheets tightly, butterflies flying inside her stomach. “It’s.. I’m close..”
Xichen’s fingers soothed the supple skin of her thighs, pulling back with his lips and chin collated in her essence. How undignified and yet..
[Name] pulled him up for a kiss, her tongue trailing upwards as she cleaned his lips. Xichen smiled fondly. His beloved’s embrace was heaven to him. The devotion in his soul, cemented as she returned his affection. Lan Xichen would follow [Name] to the ends of the earth for a mere touch from her, and he would do anything, surrender his everything, for just one more night like this with her.
Lowering his pants to free his hard member, Xichen secured a hold on [Name]’s waist as she looked at him with desire. She wanted this as much as he did. “I will go slow.” Despite his warning, a loud moan threatened to escape her rosy lips which Xichen silenced with his own mouth. Their bodies united and even though he was careful not to overwhelm her with his movements, Xichen panted heavily. It wasn’t enough. “More, more.” His hips met her pelvis roughly, “X-Xichen..!” This only served to excite him, his mouth latching itself onto her neck, “Yes, call for me, beloved.” The Gusu Lan leader’s heart swelled with love.
[Name] gasped as Xichen maneuvered her body with ease, placing one of her legs over his shoulder, the distance between them closing. It’s like he was desperate to become one. His throbbing penis pressed into her in a manner that had [Name] ascending. “Lan Huan.. I’m about to..” He smiled. “Me too.” His forehead was covered in a thin veil of sweat, and his ears a bit red. With one last powerful thrust, Lan Xichen embraced [Name] tightly as if he never wanted to let go. “Become my wife..”
“Yes.. yes..” she clung to his strong shoulders, a bit breathless from the orgasm. “I want to be your wife.” Xichen was ecstatic, kissing her again. [Name] groaned softly as he pulled away momentarily, his seed trickling from her hole down her thighs. Shifting onto her stomach, [Name]’s hips were raised by Xichen, “Then let’s make love like spouses.”
Sensitive from their previous release, her moan was loud. “Ahhhh!” Xichen had the gall to smile sweetly, not stopping—instead, he leaned over, one hand grasping her breast as he pounded deeply into her. “Huan-gege.. nghh!!” The sweet sobriquet sent him over the edge. That night, neither slept; [Name]’s body was stretched to its limit, her skin and womb painted with Xichen’s cum.
Tumblr media
“Wife..”
Strong and gentle arms wrapped themselves around her form. [Name] had learned over time what this honeyed murmur meant. That’s how their first child was conceived. “Huan-ge..”
Her soft please were music to his ears, and made Xichen want to kiss her again, again, and again. He could not stop himself from lifting her robes, his member already hard against her ass. Lan Xichen was drunk with passion, his mind and body full of his beloved, and it almost felt like he would pass out from how intense his feelings were for her right now. He slid in easily; [Name]’s body recognized him now, after their daily love making, it was only natural.
Pressed against the wall, [Name] could only whine as her husband penetrated her cunt over and over. Xichen caressed the plumpness of her skin, his fingers putting pressure. His body was shaking and his breath shallow, but Lan Xichen could not stop. “[Name]..”
Shivers of pleasure racked her body as Xichen released. “Its filling me..” [Name] rested her forehead on the wall, her legs trembling with exhaustion. Lan Xichen wasn’t done though, pulling her above him as they settled down on the floor. He was supposed to be doing reports—instead, he was balls deep into his lovely wife. “Lan Huan.. aah..” his hands gripped her hips tightly, unwilling to part. “Are you trying to get me pregnant again..” Xichen blushed at [Name]’s words, his face turning crimson. He mumbled, his voice sounding a bit guilty, "I can't.. help it-!" It was as if a flood of desire had been unleashed in him, like an unstoppable wave, and he was drowning in a sweet and blissful pleasure that was almost too much to bear.. He wanted more, his body was aching for it, and he was afraid that he may never be able to stop once he started again.
“Alright… do with me as you wish.”

T, WIP, 8k, Wangxian
Summary: When Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian had decided to pay alternate universe versions of themselves a visit, they had not expected to find a version of Wei Wuxian who is travelling all alone. Lan Wangji has something to say about this. (In which MDZS Lan Wangji is unhappy about some of his CQL counterpart's actions following the events at the Guanyin Temple) Kay's comments: One of my absolute favorite stories that I come back to read again and again, because it's like the perfect post-CQL story for those of us who were more than a little miffed by CQL Lan Wangji's performance at the end of the series and him becoming Chief Cultivator and not accompanying Wei Wuxian when he asked. Well, here we have MDZS!Wangxian arriving in the CQL-world and promptly adopting CQL-Wei Wuxian, while CQL Lan Wangji has to drink vinegar and I just have to say, this story is everything for me. I love the characterization and the subtle differences between the two versions of Wangxian and I love MDZS!Wangxian doting on CQL!Wei Wuxian. Excerpt: Lan Wangji is having a… bad day. He is having a lot of those, recently. For once, it isn’t his job that’s bothering him. It is hard to be the Chief Cultivator, to put up with so much whining and so many snide overtures from sect leader after sect leader, but he cannot complain about it. Lan Wangji has never been one to complain, but even if he was, who would he share this burden with? His brother is in seclusion, taking no visitors, and his uncle is already busy leading the sect— Lan Wangji can offer no help, as the Chief Cultivator cannot show favour to one sect over the others. The job is hard, but there is nothing new to be said about it. No, what bothers Lan Wangji currently is him. The other version of himself. Lan Wangji had always thought that the day Wei Ying would return to Gusu would be a joyous one. In his mind, Wei Ying would have travelled as he had wanted to— he could not travel with Wei Ying, not when he had to take up the mantle of Chief Cultivator, but he knew Wei Ying understood that— and returned one day, and perhaps Lan Wangji would buy him some Emperor’s Smile from Caiyi Town and take him to that Hunan restaurant he always talked about, and he would meet the juniors and he would smile at Lan Wangji like he always did. Instead, Wei Ying had not returned alone with his donkey. He had appeared with another version of Lan Wangji.

King of Bunnies
When Lan Zhan accidentally gets drunk one evening, a stray comment from Wei Ying leads to a night of drunken shenanigans throughout the Cloud Recesses
Inspired by this post I made a while back!
Can also be read on Ao3
Evenings were Wei Wuxian's favorite part of the day. Not that he didn't like every part of his days in the Cloud Recesses. He loved working on talismans or other inventions in the workroom Lan Zhan had gifted him after their wedding; secluded enough that he could do noisy experiments without worrying about disturbing anyone, while close enough that he could walk there easily. He loved teaching the juniors and seeing them blossom under his tutelage. Especially when he got to teach A-Yuan and his friends. He loved taking tea with Xichen-ge and helping him with sect leader duties, as he slowly got used to the world again after his seclusion. He loved developing his cultivation so his new golden core would get stronger.
His days were stimulating yet peaceful. Even the harder side of things - like Lan Qiren's and the other Elders’ disapproval of him - were easy to ignore. But the evenings were his favorite part of the day, because then he could go home to the Jingshi and have Lan Zhan entirely to himself.
Wei Wuxian was sitting in Lan Zhan's lap, getting fed spicy food Lan Zhan had cooked for him and feeding his husband in turn, stealing kisses between bites and chatting about his day. Occasionally, he would drink from a cup that Lan Zhan kept filled with Emperor's smile, while Lan Zhan drank his fragrant tea. His heart felt full and warm, and so did his stomach. He hummed happily on wangxian and when Lan Zhan broke the no talking while eating rule to hum back, Wei Wuxian felt so happy he could die. He whined dramatically and hid his blushing face against Lan Zhan's shoulder. Lan Zhan just hugged him closer for a second before picking up another piece of the fried fish to feed him.
"Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan", Wei Wuxian chanted and his husband made a little inquisitive sound. "You really are the best. The most wonderful husband anyone could ever hope for, I love you so much."
Lan Zhan put down the chopsticks and turned to look at him. The full force of his devastatingly beautiful golden eyes were directed at Wei Wuxian. It never failed to make him feel giddy. "I love you too, husband."
Wei Wuxian squealed and clutched his heart. "Lan Zhan! You're too much! Be gentle with my poor heart!"
"I will always be gentle with Wei Ying's heart. It is precious."
"Nooo!" Wei Wuxian protested as his face turned completely red. Even months into their marriage, he still wasn't used to Lan Zhan's earnest words of devotion. He quickly grabbed his cup and drowned all the alcohol in it, in hopes that it would give him strength. That hope was immediately doused when Lan Zhan leaned down to kiss him deeply, the alcohol spilling from Wei Wuxian’s mouth.
Not that Wei Wuxian would ever complain about getting kissed, especially not these deep and filthy kisses Lan Zhan currently gave him. He nipped at Wei Wuxian’s bottom lip and then licked deep into his mouth, chasing the taste of alcohol and sucking on his tongue. It sent tingles down Wei Wuxian’s whole body and he moaned into the kiss. Lan Zhan only pulled back once he’d grown lightheaded, instead licking and biting down Wei Wuxian’s throat. Wei Wuxian tilted his head to the side to bare more of his throat to Lan Zhan’s clever mouth. More moans escaped him without his conscious input and he pulled Lan Zhan even closer, needing to feel his touch on his skin.
Then, Lan Zhan suddenly fell face first into Wei Wuxian’s lap. For a moment he thought it was because Lan Zhan had something special in mind, but as the seconds passed without Lan Zhan moving, Wei Wuxian started to grow worried.
“Lan Zhan? Are you alright?” He pushed on Lan Zhan’s shoulders to turn him around and then immediately groaned as he saw that Lan Zhan was asleep. He poked his cheek but there was no reaction. “Fuck! The alcohol!”
Wei Wuxian sighed and settled down as he waited for him to wake up, pulling Lan Zhan into a more comfortable position in his lap. Once he woke up, he would hopefully be able to put him to bed without much trouble. Meanwhile, he ate the rest of his food and downed the last of his alcohol. And if he occasionally petted Lan Zhan’s hair or stroked his face then that was his own business.
Just as suddenly as he had fallen asleep, Lan Zhan woke up. He sat up and blinked in confusion at the room around him. Wei Wuxian couldn’t help but feel endeared by his cute expression. He giggled and when Lan Zhan looked at him in question, his nose scrunched up, he only laughed more. “Lan Zhan! Lan Zhan, you look just like a bunny! So cute!”
“... bunny” Lan Zhan said and his forehead wrinkled with how hard he was thinking. Then he suddenly stood up and moved towards the door. Wei Wuxian scrambled after him, cursing under his breath. Lan Zhan couldn’t be allowed to wander through the Cloud Recesses in this state. He would embarrass himself, and only Wei Wuxian was allowed to see him like this. “Lan Zhan! Wait up!” he called out and latched onto his arm. Unfortunately, Lan Zhan continued walking as if he didn’t even notice Wei Wuxian hanging off him. Damn that Lan strength! And so, despite his efforts, Lan Zhan managed to open the door and walk outside, Wei Wuxian dragged with him. With a sigh, Wei Wuxian resigned himself to his fate and started following his drunk husband. If he couldn’t stop him it was better to willingly go with him and hopefully stop him from committing too much shenanigans.
They walked through the paths of the Cloud Recesses and Wei Wuxian had never before been so grateful that all the Lans followed the rules about curfew. It meant only a few guards were out to see Lan Zhan drag him around. And it was extra lucky that the rules against gossiping would make sure they kept quiet about what they saw. Wei Wuxian waved at the guards they passed, grinning sheepishly as they stared in concussion at Lan Zhan.
“Where are we even going, Lan Zhan?” Wei Wuxian asked when they had been walking for several minutes and had gotten deeper and deeper into the back hills. The only thing back here was the bunny meadow. Wait … “Lan Zhan, are we going to see the bunnies?”
“Bunny”, Lan Zhan said and nodded in his typical serious manner. As usual, he didn’t seem very drunk, except that his eyes were distant and he was so single-minded in his focus.
“Lan Zhaaan”, Wei Wuxian complained and tried once more to fruitlessly make him stop walking. “We can go see the bunnies tomorrow, they’re probably asleep already, like we should be.” Not that he usually went to sleep this early, but if it could convince Lan Zhan to go back home it was worth a try.
“Bunny”, was all Lan Zhan said in response and Wei Wuxian groaned, even as his heart skipped a beat at just how cute his husband was when drunk. Well, maybe it wouldn’t be too bad if he played along. There should be no one else by the bunnies at this hour, so Wei Wuxian could indulge in his husband acting silly without having to worry about him ruining his reputation.
They reached the bunny meadow soon enough, and as Wei Wuxian had suspected, the bunnies were all hidden away in their burrows. Lan Zhan sat down in the middle of the meadow, pouting. “Bunny…” he said sadly and Wei Wuxian felt an urge to both bully his husband further and to immediately go digging into the burrows to find the bunnies so he wouldn’t be sad.
“The bunnies are asleep.” Lan Zhan pouted even more at those words and Wei Wuxian couldn’t resist the urge to lean in and kiss that protruding bottom lip and give it a little nip. Lan Zhan gasped and chased after his mouth when he leaned away. He was so cute that Wei Wuxian worried his heart would explode. He relented and let Lan Zhan pull him into his lap to steal a couple of deep, filthy kisses. His mouth tasted slightly of alcohol and Wei Wuxian chased the taste happily, humming in pleasure.
Lan Zhan pulled him flush against his chest and kissed him breathless for several long minutes, remarkably coordinated in this action even while drunk. Then Lan Zhan suddenly pushed him away, making Wei Wuxian fall on his ass in the grass. He gasped in surprise at the action, especially since the push wasn’t followed by Lan Zhan pushing him to the ground to make out. Instead, Wei Wuxian watched in disbelief as a couple of bunnies jumped up to him, crowding around his lap and even climbing onto him. Lan Zhan eagerly gave them all pets and cuddled them closer.
“Lan Zhan! Did you just push me away to cuddle the bunnies instead?” Wei Wuxian whined.
“Bunny”, was Lan Zhan’s response and Wei Wuxian couldn't help it. He started laughing, loud enough that the bunnies startled and tried to hide in Lan Zhan’s clothes.
“You really like the bunnies, huh Lan Zhan?”
“Mn.”
Wei Wuxian couldn't help but soften as he regarded his husband, kneeling on the ground and surrounded by the bunnies who had woken up just because they sensed Lan Zhan was close. He kept trying to pet them all at the same time and seemed distressed that he only had two hands. His husband was too cute. “Ah, Lan Zhan, you really like the bunnies and the bunnies really like you. It’s like … like you’re the King of bunnies.”
Lan Zhan’s eyes sharpened. He looked at Wei Wuxian, making him shiver, and then turned those intense golden eyes upon the bunnies.  “Mn…”
He scooped two bunnies up into his hands. They wiggled for a second and then settled down happily in his big hands. Absurdly enough, Wei Wuxian felt a little bit jealous of the bunnies. He wanted to be cradled in Lan Zhan’s big hands. Lan Zhan gazed down on the bunnies for a second and then he stood up, turned around and started walking away from the meadow. Wei Wuxian gaped in surprise after him and then he scrambled to catch up with him.
“Where are you going now? Lan Zhan, the bunnies should stay in the meadow!” He was ignored, Lan Zhan marching determinedly on. Wei Wuxian sighed and resigned himself to follow and try to mitigate any damage Lan Zhan might do. Hopefully he just wanted to bring a pair of bunnies into the Jingshi.
Except when they reached their home, Lan Zhan didn’t stop. He didn’t even stop when they reached the more central parts of the Cloud Recesses. The guards eyed them in confusion and Wei Wuxian grimaced as Lan Zhan barreled past them like a man on a mission, bunnies in hand. Hopefully, they would keep quiet about this too.
Lan Zhan reached the center of the Cloud Recesses and without warning, jumped onto the roof of the Main Hall. Wei Wuxian cursed and scrambled to get up on the roof after him. “Lan Zhan! Get down from the roof!” Lan Zhan just looked at him with his shining golden eyes, a tiny pout on his lips. The bunnies he was holding only made the scene even cuter and Wei Wuxian was a weak man when it came to his husband.
“Damn it!” he said and then sighed in resignation. Surely it wouldn't be too bad if he let Lan Zhan do whatever it was he wanted. It would at least be quicker than trying to convince him to abandon his plan. “Alright, Lan Zhan, go ahead.”
The tiny smile on Lan Zhan’s lips made it all worth it.  He raised the bunnies above his head and then took a very deep breath. “I AM THE KING OF THE BUNNIES!” he bellowed at the top of his lungs, the words echoing across the silent Cloud Recesses. Wei Wuxian  was so surprised by the sound that he almost fell off the roof. Never before had he heard his husband make such a loud noise.
“Oh shit!” Wei Wuxian cursed. There was no way people hadn't heard that. Maybe he could convince the Lans that he had been the one to yell that? After all, no one would be surprised if Wei Wuxian yelled some nonsense late at night. As long as he got his husband home before anyone could come check what the noise had been, they would be alright.
Before he could implement his plan to get them away from there, Lan Zhan laid down on his back, put the bunnies on his chest and fell asleep right there on the roof. Wei Wuxian stared at his sleeping husband in utter disbelief for a second. Then he started laughing so hard that he had to sit down on the roof to make sure he wouldn’t fall off it.
It was to that scene four guards and Lan Qiren arrived a few minutes later. Hanguang-jun sleeping on the roof with two confused rabbits on his chest and the Yiling Laozu howling in laughter next to him. The newly arrived Lans just stared in confusion for a few long seconds, before Lan Qiren gathered his wits enough to remember he was supposed to be angry.
“Wei Wuxian!” he yelled and jumped onto the roof. The other Lans followed his example and gathered to awkwardly glance between the sleeping Hanguang-jun, the laughing Yiling Laozu and the Grandmaster. “What is the meaning of this? Why are you outside after curfew, yelling loud enough to wake people up? Why are there rabbits here? And why is Wangji sleeping on the roof?”
Wei Wuxian forced himself to look away from his sleeping husband or he wouldn't be able to stop laughing long enough to answer. He still giggled occasionally as he tried to explain. “Ah, Grandmaster Lan, all those things can easily be explained by one thing; Lan Zhan drank some alcohol by mistake.”
Lan Qiren’s face immediately shuttered as if he was in pain and then he took a deep breath to compose himself. “Are you telling me that Wangji was the one who yelled?” Wei Wuxian nodded, thoroughly amused by the way it seemed to cause Lan Qiren further pain. “And he was the one who brought the rabbits here?” Another nod. “And the reason he’s asleep on the roof is because he’s drunk?”
“Got it in one. Uh, also can I borrow these Lans to help me carry Lan Zhan home?”
“It’s too late for this.” Lan Qiren closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Sure, why not, do what you must. I’m going to bed.”
“Goodnight, Uncle!” Wei Wuxian called out to his retreating back and snickered at the glare he got in return. Then he turned to the remaining Lans. They were too disciplined to show their discomfort, but Wei Wuxian caught more than one of them glancing between him and Lan Zhan uncertainty. Wei Wuxian clapped his hands and had to suppress a snicker at the tiny jumps they did. He pointed to the Lans in turn. “Alright, you carry the rabbits back to their meadow, you guys take one limb each and I’ll support Lan Zhan’s head.”
They all relaxed as he took charge and seemed especially relieved Wei Wuxian would be the one to hold his head. Since Lan Zhan still wore his forehead ribbon, there was no way Wei Wuxian was going to let anyone else close enough to risk touching it. And it would have been really undignified if they just let his head dangle without support, not to mention uncomfortable for Lan Zhan.
They got into position and lifted Lan Zhan up together. Wei Wuxian was very glad for the help to carry him. He knew from experience just how heavy his husband was, being not only taller but also more muscular than himself. While he had carried Lan Zhan in the past and wouldn't hesitate to do so again if necessary, they were quite the distance from the Jingshi and Wei Wuxian would rather spare his back if possible.
The Lan carrying the bunnies also made sure to steer all other guards away from them, so that as few people as possible saw Lan Zhan get towed around Cloud Recesses like a sack of potatoes - though a very loved sack of potatoes. Since they consequently didn’t have to worry about being discreet, they could walk directly to the Jingshi and arrived within minutes. Wei Wuxian led the others inside and together they lowered Lan Zhan down onto the bed.
“Thanks for the help, everyone!” Wei Wuxian chirped and got four “you’re welcome” of various degrees of awkwardness in return. The moment the Lans closed the door behind them, Wei Wuxian started undressing his husband and getting him as ready for bed as possible in his unresponsive state.
He lovingly moved Lan Zhan’s limbs out of his clothes and removed his ribbon and combed his hair out. He washed his face and made sure there was fresh water next to the bed just in case Lan Zhan woke up before him - he usually didn’t when he got drunk, sleeping in for once in his life - and was thirsty. Then he tucked Lan Zhan into bed and climbed in next to him, resting his head on his shoulder. While he loved it when Lan Zhan doted on him and took care of his every little need, Wei Wuxian loved it when he got a chance to dote back. It usually only happened when Lan Zhan was drunk, so he had to take a moment to appreciate it.
Wei Wuxian pressed a kiss to his husband’s lovely cheek. “I love you so much”, he whispered and then extinguished the last candle and settled down to sleep.
🐇👑🐇
Lan Wangji’s head was pounding, he felt slightly nauseous and there was a stale taste in his mouth. Despite having only experienced it a handful of times, he immediately knew what it was. He was hungover. However, he could not recall having consumed any alcohol the night before. What had happened?
He stifled a groan as he opened his eyes and the light immediately stabbed into his sensitive eyeballs. “Take it easy”, an angelic voice said, a voice he would recognize anywhere - even in a new body, even in death. Wei Ying, his husband. Lan Wangji opened his eyes completely, despite the light, for he couldn’t bear not gazing upon his beloved’s face for even one second longer. Those precious silver eyes met his own and a brilliant smile, brighter than the morning sun, lit up his dear face.
“Wei Ying”, he said, just to say his name. It was his favorite thing to say in the world, followed closely by “I love you” and “my husband”.
“Lan Zhan”, Wei Ying echoed back, his smile turning even more illustrious. He was so beautiful Lan Wangji sometimes felt like he would go blind looking at him, and yet he would never again turn his gaze away, like he had done when he was a foolish teenager.
Wei Ying reached out and tenderly helped him sit. It made Lan Wangji’s head pound harder but the cup of water that was pressed into his hands a moment later made it worth it. He drank it all down greedily and immediately his mouth and stomach felt better and the headache lightened slightly. After he sat the cup down, he tried to subtly take in the room around them.
They were in the Jingshi and it looked as it normally did, though a little bit messier as Wei Ying had just let their clothes from the day before fall on the floor. He'd probably forgotten that Lan Wangji wouldn’t be capable of folding them up in his drunken state. Otherwise, there was nothing that hinted to what he might have done the night before while drunk. Everything seemed as it should.
Lan Wangji did not trust it. He had managed to pull the full truth from Wei Ying about what he’d done while drunk in the past and was therefore aware of how … mischievous he could be while drunk. So he knew that something must have happened. “What did I do last night?”
Wei Ying hesitated, gnawing at his plush bottom lip. It managed to distract Lan Wangji from his question for a second, as he was overwhelmed with the desire to put his own teeth on that lip. But he forced himself to concentrate, as Wei Ying hesitating like that never bore good news. It meant he was considering how much to say so he wouldn't make Lan Wangji feel embarrassed, which meant there was something to be embarrassed about. It only made Lan Wangji want to know even more, for how was he to make amends if he didn’t know what he’d done? Luckily, Wei Ying knew by now that Lan Wangji genuinely preferred to know the full truth, no matter how embarrassing.
“Lan Zhan!” he exclaimed and pouted in an exaggerated manner. “You were so cruel, refusing to kiss me and instead going to the bunnies and cuddling them instead!” That didn’t sound too bad, but he knew from the look in his husband’s eyes that there was more to come. He hummed and braced himself for what would come next. “Then you stole two bunnies away, climbed on top of the Main Hall’s roof and yelled for all of the Cloud Recesses to hear ‘I am the King of the Bunnies!’ and then you passed out on the roof.”
Mortification coursed through him and Lan Wangji could feel his ears burn. “Please tell me that you are lying”, he said, even though he knew that Wei Ying was being honest, having learned his tells by now.
Wei Ying looked at him, very seriously, and cupped his face in his hands. “I would, but then I would be lying to the King of Bunnies.” And then he started laughing so hard he fell to the floor. Lan Wangji’s heart soared at the sound, as he would never tire of hearing Wei Ying’s laughter, but his ears also burned hotter.
“Wei Ying”, he complained, which only made him laugh harder.
“Your Uncle found you there, asleep on the roof”, he said between his laughter and Lan Wangji cringed. “He and a couple of guards! I explained what happened and he just left! Luckily the other Lans stayed and helped me carry you back to bed.”
Lan Wangji coughed into his sleeve to try and cover for his embarrassment. This was worse than he had feared. “I must apologize to Uncle and the guards for my conduct.”
“Aww, Lan Zhan!” Wei Ying said, still giggling a little bit but also squiggling around on the floor until he could drape himself across Lan Wangji's lap. He reached up to hold Lan Wangji’s face again and since Lan Wangji was unable to deny Wei Ying anything, he leaned into the touch despite his embarrassment. “Don’t be embarrassed! You were so cute! And you’d make a wonderful King! Also, does that make me the Queen of Bunnies, as your wife?”
Wei Ying looked him right in his eyes and then licked his lips and wriggled his hips in a very suggestive manner. Lan Wangji felt heat flood through him for an entirely different reason. “I think the titles fit us very well, considering we breed like bunn-”
Lan Wangji threw himself over Wei Ying before he could finish the sentence, kissing him silent. Wei Ying squealed in delight and kissed him back just as enthusiastically. All embarrassment was forgotten after that and Lan Wangji ended up proudly accepting his title of Bunny King, at least in private.

A-Yuan remembers everything AU
Ok so, I have this little angsty head cannon that LZ didn't talk to Sizhui about his childhood because he didn't want him to seek for revenge and hate both Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen (and the rest of the cultivation world) for WWX death. One because LQ and LXN were his "inmidiate" family and the other because he didn't want him to be a pariah like his Wei Ying.
So, how about a fanfic where A-Yuan remembers everything and has kind of a big, titanic trauma about the day of the siege, how he saw men dressed in gold, purple, white and tons of other colours kill his family without mercy, without caring if they were guilty or not. How his Xian-gege dies after destroying the stygian tyger seal, and all that A-Yuan can think of is 'why is everyone so mean? Why are they hurting us? WHAT DID WE DO? Why isn't everyone waking up?' Of course he can't understand anything while he has the possesions of the clan with himself in a qiankun bag. Then LWJ finds him and A-Yuan is scared because he saw people dressed like Rich-gege kills unlce fourth so there is a huge probability that he will hurt him too, he doesen't, somehow he triess to get his little hands in Chenquing before Jiang Cheng (wich includes more trauma because he is seeing what is remaining of his Xian-gege) but he didn't succeeded because he is five and Jiang Cheng is stronger. But it's ok, A-Yuan will regain the flute sooner or later because it was his Mommy's flute so it was his now.
Then LWJ takes him to Gusu and A-Yuan absolutely hates the place. To many rules, the food is abundant but didn't taste like Popo's food that was cooked with love, he hates every colour that isn't red or black except the opaque white of his old Wen robes (he tried to convince LWJ to wear black and red but LQ didn't let him, the only red in his outfit is the red ribbon of his Xian gege), the place is nice, but to quiet, he can't hear laughs of anything that isn't random thing that he doesen't care. He hates the whole clan and sect and he doesen't have any friends except Jingyi (because Jingyi is like Xian-gege, so A-Yuan keeps him close). Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren tried to talk to him but A-Yuan knows they hurt his family and in consequence him, so he doesen't talk unless is necesary wich is only to Lan Qiren and only when he is questioned something in class. He is naturally a cold, introvert kid when he is young, and his hate towards the sects gets worse as he grows up and undesrtands ehat happened more and more, and LWJ doesen't know what to do. He becomes fifteen and he mets his "cousin" for the first time Jin Ling is spoiled, has a bad humour and talks shit of his Xian-gege so much that Sizhui wants to use his strength to rip the twelve year old's head like a watermelon, but he is young and easily driven by the adults around him, so he stays calm. That same day, Suibian amd the demonic cultivation notes dissapear, but no one knows what happened. A week later, Lan Wangji discovers the sword and notes in the back hill so he talks with Sizhui just to tell him he will take care of WWX things. Suibian remains sealed, under the tabloons of the Jingshi besides the Emperor's smile jars, and the notes are preserved in nice box besides it.
Another year passes and during the discussion conference in Yunmeng, Chenquing dissapears. The only trace is a peace of a red ribbon, but no one knows who is the owner because Sizhui is nowhere to be found, the cultivation world just blames the Yiling patriarch, again.
Of course Nie Huaisang knows this and decides to help.
And I don't know how to continue, but if you want it, you can write a fanfic. Just give me the credits of the main idea.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention earlier, all this talk about how to make alcohol actually taste good… you know what I want? I want a fic where Lan Wangji is all ‘…what would Wei Ying do if I put chili peppers in his emperors smile?????’ Like in an infusion sorta way. The answer. Of course. Is cry and confess his eternal love to him. This then becomes funnier the earlier in their relationship you put this. If school aged Wangji made him chili infused alcohol, he woulda offered his body in return for sure. It would be delightful.

Xiantober 2023 - Day 5: InnKeeper!Xian
Word Count: 1,149 Pairing: Wangxian Tags: InnKeeper Wei Ying, Prince Lan Zhan, meet-cute, flirty Lan Zhan
A soft sigh left Wei Ying's lips as he cleaned down the bar for the fiftieth time that night.
Normally, Suibian Inn and Tavern was loaded with patrons, bustling with traveling merchants, and crowded with gossiping travelers. It was what he loved the most about running the place. He loved the hustle and bustle, the steady flow of rumors, gossip, and cash.
But for the past three days, the whole town had virtually deserted, and there was no chance of anyone coming through for a few more days at least.
Apparently, some big shot prince was having a grand party to find a bride. Pah! Who needs a party to find a bride?! The whole continent was pretty much invited, commoners included, so everyone hightailed it for a chance at the crown.
Wei Ying had no desire to go.
So when the bell rang as the door was pushed open, Wei Ying nearly let out a surprised scream. Thankfully, he refrained, maintaining what little dignity he had.
He did jump though, but no one was witness to see it, so it never happened.
Silver eyes watched as the cloaked figure made their way into the tavern. "Welcome to Suibian Inn and Tavern. You're quite a ways away from the festivities, yeah? I don't think you'll make it."
"Oh, no... I'm trying to avoid them." The stranger admitted, removing his hood.
The glass in Wei Ying's hands hit the ground with a violent sound, shattering into hundreds of pieces and causing both to jump.
"Ah, shit, that was my favorite glass.. hng, damn butterfingers." He scoffed, moving to grab the broom.
Who knew seeing someone so stunning would cause such a problem? He had not been prepared for such beauty!!
"Avoiding the ball, huh? That's odd. Didn't everyone wanna go?"
"You're here."
"I have a business to run." He countered. "Besides. The prince is looking for a bride."
He hummed. "Not some bar keep."
"Was the party not extended to everyone?"
"Oh, it was, but let's be real. What prince is gonna pick a  peasant. It's all just a formality. So I'm fine staying here. Besides! I'm pretty sure I'm the only Inn open for miles."
"Mm, I've passed several, they are all closed."
Wei Ying grinned and finished cleaning up the glass. "So tell me, gorgeous, what can I get for you? An ale? A hot meal? A room? Maybe me?" He winked.
"Sounds like a rare house special. How much for all four?" He countered.
For a moment, the innkeeper was stunned. No one ever took his flirting seriously!!! And for someone to be /this/ good looking?!
Wei Ying eyed him suspiciously. "You're not some crazy murderer, yeah? That why you're avoiding the capital?"
Surprise colored the man's face before he huffed a soft laugh. "No, not at all, I assure you."
"Oh, assure me, do you?" He grinned. "Alright. Three silvers and you can have a drink, a room, and a meal~ that fourth option you gotta work a little harder for. Can't just be cute."
"You think I'm cute?" The man questioned, raising a brow with the faintest hint of a smirk and Wei Ying felt his knees go weak.
He sputtered wildly and flicked his rag in the attractive patron's direction. "Aren't you cheeky~?"
He turned and grabbed a wooden pint mug, but before he could fill it, the man cleared his throat a little. "On second hand.... can I just have some water?"
Wei Ying popped his hip and cocked a brow. "What? Why water? I've got all the best alcohols in the land!" He grinned.
"I even have the best of the best, emperor's smile~ all the way from the capital."
"I... do not handle alcohol well."
Wei Ying blinked at him a few dozen times before he threw his head back and laughed. "Oh, you're cute! Alright. I'll be nice. Water it is."
"I would rather remember my night if I get to spend it chatting with someone so lovely."
Once more, Wei Ying was left sputtering as he slammed the mug of water down and busied himself working. "Alright, charmer, what'll you have to eat?"
"I am guessing you are not on the menu?"
Wei Ying all but tripped over his feet and looked at him with a flushed face. "I... you.... I walked into that." He cleared his throat and gestured to the menu. "So... what's your name, charmer?"
"You can call me A-Zhan.""
"Well, A-Zhan~ you can call me Wei Ying. You lemme know what you'd like to eat and I'll whip it up."
He nodded and did just that.
Wei Ying disappeared into the back to prep the meal and when he realized he was getting no conversation out of the other while he ate, so he busied himself with cleaning the already spotless tavern.
After, the two found themselves sitting side by side, Wei Ying telling A-Zhan all about the beautiful places he had been to in the kingdom before he settled here with his tavern.
"Sounds like you're quite the adventurer."
"Perhaps! But what about you?"
"I do not get out much, sadly. Though... I am forever grateful I decided to come here tonight~"
Wei Ying cleared his throat before he stood and made his way to the front door. He locked up and slipped over to a board behind the bar and grabbed a metal key.
A-Zhan watched him curiously, but when Wei Ying moved to the steps and tipped his head, he followed eagerly.
The pair made it to the bedroom and Wei Ying barely had time to unlock the door before he was pressed to the smooth wood.
The sound of the door slamming shut was certainly not the last sound heard echoing through the quiet inn that night.
The next morning, the pair lay in one another's arms, sharing lazy kisses as Wei Ying snuggled up to the perfectly sculpted chest.
"So, A-Zhan..."
"Mn?"
"How are you going to explain to the kingdom that you ditched your own bridal ball~?"
His eyes widened in disbelief. "Wh-what? How did you--"
Wei Ying laughed, his eyes shimmering in delight. "Everyone knows our Prince's name is Lan Zhan,
and your cloak has the royal insignia on it."
The prince's ears went red and he frowned. "I apologize, I did not mean to deceive you--"
"Hush." Wei Ying kissed him sweetly. "I'm not mad, but I am curious how you're gonna get out of trouble for this~"
"I will simply tell them I was with my bride all night~" He grinned lightly, rolling so he was on top of Wei Ying
once more.
The room quickly filled with giggles and soon after, moans as the prince and the innkeeper enjoyed each other's company.
When wedding bells chimed no more than four months later, the kingdom was in shock to see the chatty innkeeper at his side~

#wangxian au where -
Wei Wuxian doesn't return, he doesn't get summoned back by Mo Xuanyu and the cultivation world slowly forgets him.
Time flows like river, fast and steadily. Lan Wangji doesn't cultivate to immortality, instead he spends his days helping people and roaming the world.
He still carries around the memories of his teen years, especially the ones with wei ying. Those carefree days when his only concern was handling a mischievous scrawny guy, notorious for breaking rules. The one who talked everyone’s ears off every chance grasped and found.
But it has been so long now, decades have passed and he no longer remembers.
He no longer remembers how Wei Ying used to look like, how his voice sounded like when he teased Lan Wangji, how his eyes used to gleam every time he talked about his loved ones. How his soft lips tasted.
Lan Wangji used to play inquiry almost everyday, now it’s every other week, or month.
However, the result always turns out the same.
He has grown old now, tiredness has settled and found home in his bones. He cannot do much even if he wished to.
After years of loneliness and yearning, Lan Wangji finally finds himself wanting.
And what Lan Wangji wants, is to rest. He wishes to leave.
So he does exactly that.
He returns to cloud recesses, visits lotus pier and the burial mounds on his way back, bids farewell to the alive and the dead.
His last days are spent hushed. He tastes the emperor’s smile, eats chilli-filled dishes and plays a familiar tune on wangji for the last time.
That one tune which has been deeply engraved in him, etched on his heart ever since he had first sang it, in that dimly lit cave, alongside a lively youth, for the youth.
He plays wangxian for the last time.
Later when he finally lies on his deathbed, the last thing he finds himself doing is hope.
Hope that maybe in the afterlife, he can try again, finally find the one he desperately desired and sought after.
Hope that maybe in some other life, he can do it all over again, mend everything he couldn’t.
He hopes that maybe in some other reality, the universe is kinder to him, even more to his wei ying.
Kinder enough to give them a second chance.
With that final thought, lan wangji strokes suiban laid beside bichen tenderly and drifts, he departs, relieving himself from all the burdens that had weighed him down for years.
In the tranquillity of dusk, Lan Wangji sleeps peacefully for the first time in decades.

Three Emoji Prompt
For @ninjakk
🌠🍂💋
sweet and fluffy wangxian.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lan Wangji sometimes does not believe he gets to have this.
When his mind flays him in the quiet of dreams. When he recalls the thirteen years of absence only to wake in his arms, his presence throughout the Jingshi undeniable.
Papermen scattered throughout his desk, his papers always a mess, empty jars of Emperor's Smile. Gusu Lan Robes in his size on the floor where he dropped them after he crawled into bed, snuggled into Lan Wangji’s arms.
Tonight is the Moon Festival.
This high in the mountains, autumn ended weeks ago, winter’s chill settled in for the long duration. Wei Ying has already bundled into his cloaks and stolen two of Lan Wangji’s own.
Normally they would accompany the juniors down to Caiyi for mooncakes, festivities, and making sure no one got too sick or drunk. But with Xiongzhang fresh out of seclusion, he and shufu took those duties for the night, freeing Lan Wangji to spend a quiet evening with his husband.
A letter on the Jingshi’s doors directed Lan Wangji higher up the mountain, unactivated papermen stuck to bamboo or trees guided his way up a grassy hill until he saw large, ornate chiminea burning marrily.
He could feel the warmth of the fire as he drew closer to the circle marked by glowing flowers, no doubt something Wei Ying created.
“Lan Zhan.”
Wei Ying fell into his arms, pressing kisses all over his face until Lan Wangji caught his chin and kissed his lips.
He forced his mouth open, pushing his tongue deep inside, tasting mooncake, Emperor's Smile, and roasted nuts.
Wei Ying, sometimes, acted like he did not believe he got to do things like that. His face flushed adorably as Lan Wangji pulled away, he laughed, eyes dancing as he pressed gentle kisses along his chin and down his neck.
“No, stop. I have a plan for tonight and you’re distracting me with your sexiness.”
Lan Wangji felt his lips turn up, “Apologies.”
Wei Ying pretended to frown, but he was smiling too much to make it effective.
“Not you’re not.”
Lan Wangji hummed his agreement, pulling Wei Ying into his arms again, kissing his forehead.
When A-Yuan first came out of the sick rooms and Lan Wangji could care for him alone, he could not stop kissing the child. In relief that he made it, in grief that the last thing that connected him to Wei Ying did not remember him. And to ensure A-Yuan never questioned that he was loved.
He felt the same urge each time he held Wei Ying in his arms.
Grief that he was gone for so long, a connection only one of them remembered, and so Wei Ying knew what love was. What it felt like. So he never questioned it.
“Come, come, I have plans for tonight.” Stepping out of his arms, Wei Ying slid his hands into one of Lan Wangji’s, pulling him completely inside the circle of flowers.
The world around him shut off.
The birdsong, the cicadas, or crickets. The rustling of undergrowth from the rabbits, or moles, nore the distant booming of fireworks.
“Tonight is just about us.” Wei Ying led him over to the chiminea where food was laid out on a dark wood table that he must have had the juniors bring up the mountain, complaining the entire time of his ‘poor’ and ‘feebable’ back.
There was a rug laid down for them to sit on, large enough for them both to lay side-by-side if they so desired. His husband was not subtle.
All around them was the dying grass of the hills, the low fog of the clouds, and the autumnal colors of the leaves. The reds, oranges, yellows and browns, all in varying stages of decay. Falling from the tree to preserve its life through winter, rotting into the soil to provide roots that created them. A cyclical pattern of birth, life, and death. A poem, a tale, a lesson written into the fabric of the world around them.
Rebirth.
Second chances.
He breathed in Wei Ying’s scent, rain-water and spices mixed with sandalwood and the fresh mountain air.
“Lan-er-gege, Lan Zhan, husband.” Wei Ying fell into his side, Lan Wangji put an arm around him, Wei Ying filled his tea cup, plucking out a small orange leaf that had fallen into it. “You’re too in your head tonight.”
Wei Ying’s eyes were dancing in the light of their fire, “I want you to see something.”
“I never tire of seeing it.” Lan Wangji told him. He traced the contours of his face, his finger circling around his bold smile, once gone from the world. Death. Returned. Reborn. A different face, but the same smile.
Wei Ying turned red, burying his face in Lan Wangji’s robes.
“Stop it, stop it, stop it.” His fists were ineffective, not that he was trying to be.
“Warnings Lan Wangji, you must give warnings.”
Lan Wangji stroked his hair, his fingers catching in snarls and knots that he gently worked out, kissing the top of his head.
Wei Ying emerged, no less red. “I wanted to show you the sky. Tonight's special.”
Dutiful husband that he was, Lan Wangji turned to the sky.
He could see the dazzling stars above them. Stars across the sky as far as he could see, vanishing over the horizon to the west and east, to the north beyond the mountains, stretching further than Lan Wangji had ever traveled.
One fell across the sky, from the east to the west, a streak of light there for a brillant moment before it was gone from his sight.
It was the first, several more came after, sometimes a handful all at once, more came faster, faster still until the sky was a nothing to streaking light falling across stars.
“There’s a legend in Yunmeng.” Wei Ying said, his voice low and reverent in ways he only got when he was in shrines, or on anniversaries. He played with the braided white bracelet around his wrist, a gift from A-Yuan and Wen Ning, a subtle way to mourn the Wens, Wen Qing and Jiang Yanli.
“They say a falling star is the sign of a birth or death of someone important.”
His hand tightened around Wei Ying’s waist.
Wei Ying snuggled closer, kissing his neck.
“I’m not going anywhere. Lan Zhan, I promise. I just wanted to see tonight and think…hope I guess, that Shijie and Wen Qing were reborn. Maybe not tonight. Maybe not soon, but on a night like tonight. Where the stars fall and their births are marked as important. Because they are.”
Lan Wangji kissed his temple, holding him close.
“A star fell from the sky the night you returned.”
Wei Ying jerked his head to look at him, “Really?”
He hadn’t marked it as anything imporant, he’d been watching the sky in the event of a flare from the Juniors, praying he didn’t see it, but comfortable in the knowledge that he wasn’t far away if they did.
He had seen it fall shortly before the flare went up.
“But… I was hours alive at that point.” Wei Ying said when Lan Wangji told him.
Lan Wangji captured his husbands hand, kissing the center of his palm like he’d done once to Lan Wangji in an inn months and months ago, teasing him, pulling at his control, tempting the truth from him.
Wei Ying’s breath hitched, Lan Wangji kissed his wrist, biting gently.
Wei Ying shivered, his breathing picking up.
“I do not question the gods.” He pushed Wei Ying to the carpet, “They returned you to me, that is enough.”
Autumn turned to winter as stars fell.
Mind your business
Warnings: some sexual implications in crude language but not too descriptive
They've said this curse is, though not deadly, especially not to a cultivator of Jingyi's level, very unpleasant.
And have given no further explanation.
So much for ridding them of a ten years' worth of chaos caused by that horrible creature - but Jingyi is a Lan, so of course he can't cuss those people out loud, as he had done in his mind, especially since they'd been so snobby about everything.
Serves him right for doing charity where he isn't needed. Maybe he's the opposite of Hanguang-Jun, "always where the chaos is" - Jingyi doesn't find the chaos usually, it finds him.
So, of course that, on his way back from a quite boring nighthunt (or maybe he's just that strong, at his whole 19 years of age) he decides to help a small village deal with a ghostly issue and gets himself cursed by the issue in question before he slays it.
At least the way to the Cloud Recesses is short and the more he walks, the closer Jingyi gets to his room and his very deeply missed comfortable bed. These inns really need to get better sleeping furniture!
Regardless, he realizes that, though hit with the creature's curse, Jingyi doesn't feel any different. He isn't ill and his qi is balanced, so maybe the curse died with its caster. Whatever the case, Jingyi can't complain.
Before he knows it, he spots the familiar landscape of the Cloud Recesses and can almost feel the fluff of his bedding underneath his fingers the moment he steps through the gate - only to meet Hanguang-Jun and Senior Wei, apparently on their way back to Cayi Town if the poorly concealed jars of Emperor's Smile in Senior Wei's sleeves are anything to go by.
"You're back early!" He exclaims and all Jingyi can do is smile and bow a little, thinking how much of a dumbass he was for not stopping for some wine himself. He did pass through Cayi Town too!
Hanguang-Jun acknowledges Jingyi with a nod and he knows that means a report is expected tomorrow morning first thing.
Well, second thing because Jingyi is done writing documents on an empty stomach since last time's disaster.
"Good job out there, whatever you encountered!" Senior Wei speaks again and pats Jingyi's shoulder. "We're off to bed, see you tomorrow!"
"Curfew is approaching. Do not stay up late." Hanguang-Jun completes and he looks a tiny bit softer at Jingyi (or maybe he's imagining it).
Jingyi bows respectfully and turns to walk in the direction of his quarters, when his ears pick up... something.
I wonder if Wei Ying will let me tie him up again and drink wine off his body.
Jingyi turns tomato-red from head to toe and his head inadvertedly snaps towards the two seniors just a little a-ways. That's Hanguang-Jun's voice for sure but his lips aren't moving at all, so how could Jingyi even hear-
Is the way to the jingshi always this long or am I just too horny right now? I think I'll make Lan Zhan fuck me against the door again because I am not waiting for the bed at this point.
And that is definitely Senior Wei's voice but he is also not speaking, very totally-not-obviously sneaking sips of wine.
That's what those people meant when they said "not deadly but unpleasant" - the curse Jingyi has to endure is indiscriminate mind-reading.
And he just heard his two greatly respected and beloved seniors having very inappropriate thoughts about each other. In public.
(Well not that inappropriate since they are married and it's no secret they're in love. And people in love tend to... well, Jingyi has read enough about that from those books he found when visiting Ouyang Zizhen that he swears are romance and not porn at all. And it was not even in public since thoughts are supposed to be private... but still!
And he's supposed to look Hanguang-Jun in the eye tomorrow morning at the asscrack of dawn after hearing all that too?!
Next time, Jingyi's just going to stay home!)
If we calculate, Qijing and Wangxian got a stable happy married life in their mid thirties. The first couple settles down after a decade-long hectic marriage (actually 16 years) and the other after 16 years of separation. Both of the parties got their happy ending with a happy marriage.
Imagine an au where they meet. Qi Yan almost immediately befriends Wei Wuxian and Nangong Jingnu is naturally drawn to her ' buk faate to mukh fote na' ( a Bengali phrase that talks about someone who can't express their feelings and demands totally albeit experiencing excruciating emotional pain) soul sibling Lan Wangji. I feel Qi Yan is more like Wei Wuxian - both experienced a lifetime of trauma, tragic loss of kins, they are intensely self sacrificial, morally grey, sharp political brilliance and immense fear of rejection from their loved ones, to the point of leaving the love of their lives. ( why am i krying )
And you know... Nangong Jingnu and Lan Wangji, both grew up in affluence, yet searched for mental freedom, pushed by their lovers to change their worldview. Both bled extremely after understanding the seeming impossibility of their union. Oh the political boundaries, oh the world holds everything against our union but- they just couldn't let their loved ones go. Family vs that person. Walking on the single log bridge or deciding to never enter the imperial maosoleum after death - they probably accepted the greatest social doom for them, those ' criminals ' as the society designated or the ' lovers ' for whom they bled. They searched for their lovers until they found them.
For they wanted to grow old with them.
But I imagine Qi Yan and Wei Wuxian composing new melodies. Nangong Jingnu and Lan Wangji chat about mundane domestic things as if nothing could ever be more precious than those moments. And I think Lan Wangji actually will be very chatty with her.
Jingnu : You know, Yuanjun once accidentally burnt her fingers- * a rabbit hops and settles in her lap, she gasps in pleasant shock*
Wangji : Mn. Wei Ying is careless too. I rarely let him go near the kitchen. * He gently caresses another rabbit settled in his lap. He takes a short notebook from his sleeves and places it on the table* see, this is the lotus root and pork rib soup recipe I was talking about -
Jingnu : TELL ME!
*Meanwhile Qi Yan and Wei Wuxian*
Wei Wuxian : *sipping emperor's smile* my husband is the bestest in the world!
Qi Yan : *finishing her cup* mhm. My wife too.
DAILY SELECTIONS FROM LAO-TZU’S TAO TE CHING — FEBRUARY 26, 2024
“Get rid of learning and problems will vanish yes and no aren’t so far apart lovely and ugly aren’t so unalike what others fear we can’t help fear too before the moon begins to wane everyone is overjoyed as if they were at the great Sacrifice or climbing a tower in spring I sit here and make no sign like an infant that doesn’t smile lost with no one to turn to while others enjoy more I alone seem deficient with a mind like that of a fool I’m so simple others look bright I alone seem dim others are certain I alone am confused ebbing like the ocean waxing without cease everyone has a goal I alone am dumb and backward for I alone choose to differ preferring still my mother’s tit”
-Lao-tzu- (Taoteching, verse 20, translation by Red Pine)
CH’ENG HSUAN-YING says, “When we give up the study of phenomena and understand the principle of noninterference, troubles come to an end and distress disappears.”
LI HSI-CHAI says, “What passes for learning in the world never ends. For every truth found, two are lost. And while what we find brings joy, losses bring sorrow – sorrow that never ends.”
CH’ENG HSUAN-YING says, “Wei [yes] indicates agreement and k’o [no] disdain.
SUNG CH’ANG-HSING says, “Even though ‘yes’ and ‘no’ come from the same source, namely the mouth, ‘yes’ is the root of beauty, and ‘no’ is the root of ugliness. Before they appear, there is nothing beautiful or ugly and nothing to fear. But once they appear, if we don’t fear one or the other, disaster and harm are unavoidable.”
LI HSI-CHAI says, “What others love, the sage also loves. What others fear, the sage fears, too. But where the sage differs is that while others don’t see anything outside their own minds, the mind of the sage wanders in the Tao.”
WANG P’ANG says, “Everything changes into its opposite. Beginning follows end without cease. But people think everything is either beautiful or ugly. How absurd! Only the sage knows that the ten thousand ages are the same, that nothing is gained or lost.”
SU CH’E says, “People all drown in what they love: the beauty of the Great Sacrifice, the happiness of climbing to a scenic viewpoint in spring. Only the sage sees into their illusory nature and remains unmoved. People chase things and forget about the Tao, while the sage clings to the Tao and ignores everything else, just as an infant only nurses at it mother’s breast.”
TS’AO TAO-CH’UNG says, “People all see external things, while sages alone nourish themselves on internal breath. Breath is the mother, and spirit is the child. The harmony of mother and child is the key to nourishing life.”
And, RED PINE adds, “Another verse in which Lao-tzu chooses the crescent moon, while others choose the full moon. In ancient China, emperors marked the return of swallows to their capitals in spring with the Great Sacrifice to the Supreme Intermediary, while people of all ranks climbed towers or hiked into the hills to view the countryside in bloom and to celebrate the first full moon.”
Part of WLW Wangxian Week 2022
Summary: Jin Guangshan has captured the Yiling Matriarch, and gives her to the Lan dragons as a war prize. Kay's comments: This story lives rent-free in my brain. WLW Wangxian featuring war prize Wei Wuxian and also foxxian and dragonji? Is it my birthday already? I absolutely love the character dynamics in this story and also the other canon divergence points, like Lan Xichen being Empress and Jiang Yanli being a sect leader. Jin Guangshan is being absolutely vile though, but thankfully, cursed shackles seems to be the worst he does to our beloved Foxxian. Due to these shackles, she can only transform into her human form at night and her powers are surpressed. The only way to undo the curse? Dual cultivation. Excerpt: As an enemy combatant and a war prize, though, Lan Wangji couldn't simply demand that she be freed. Lan Xichen might have come up with a more elegant solution, but elder sister wasn't here, and Lan Wangji could no more leave Wei Ying in that cage than she could cut her own hands off. "Open the cage," Lan Wangji said again. "I will take her parole." "Such a notorious huli jing as this," Jin Guangshan said silkily. "I almost kept her as a concubine myself. Who would have thought such a creature as this could tempt even one of the Lan?" One of the man's retainers unlocked the cage, and Wei Ying bounded out, running to Lan Wangji. Lan Wangji stooped and held out her arms. Wei Ying leapt into them, and Lan Wangji thought, At least she still trusts me this much. Something cold and hard among the soft silkiness of her fur bumped against Lan Wangji's wrists. Gold bands encircled Wei YIng’s forelegs, just above her front paws. The bands were stamped with peonies, and there was no obvious mechanism to release them. "What are these?" Lan Wangji asked. Wei Ying's fox form burrowed against her chest, trembling. She felt so small this way. "It didn't seem prudent to let a demonic cultivator and huli jing have access to all her abilities.” Jin Guangshan smiled.
pov lan wangji, pov wei wuxian, canon divergence, fox wei wuxian, dragon lan wangji, female lan wangji/female wei wuxian, rule 63, emperor lan xichen, female lan xichen, xiyao, lan xichen/jin guangyao, post-sunshot campaign, war prize wei wuxian, yiling matriach, captivity, cursed wei wuxian, hurt/comfort
Valentine's day with WangXian
Lan WangJi was not a romantic pearson. All his life have been follow the rules and don't involve with frivolous actions, thoughts and feelings.
Until him and Wei WuXian, the YunmengJiang Head Disciple, started dating and courting each other secretly. Now, Lan WangJi is walking on Caiyi town, searching wine and cakes to give at his boyfriend.
Every single gadget he sees, wines, spice food and various types of books remembers him of Wei Ying. His smile, beatifull laugh and charming aura, so he just buy every single thing that remembers him of the Guest Disciple, to the point his sleeves are almost full.
His ears burn as he scolds himself and give a punishmente for his reckless actions. But this can wait, because Wei Ying is what Lan WangJi have on his mind all day every single day.
Is not his fault, is just that Lan WangJi cannot help himself to fall in love with the brightest smile he never ever seem. He also cannot help his own body to feel an urgent feeling to steal him and be the only one to have his attention.
Unfortunaly, even when they get married, Lan WangJi have to wait and share Wei Ying with his friends and family, because right now, his boyfriend is laughing and talking to a group of boys from different sects. He holds the jealousy that burns his throat and pass by them, his cold aura and indiferent look on his face is facade and Wei Ying knows it, because the second Wei WuXian sees him, he jump out of the group and chase after the Second Master Lan, ignoring the surprise sighs and Jiang Cheng's screams.
"Lan Zhan!"
"Wei Ying."
Wei WuXian gets closer to him and whisper on his ear, "Guess what? I have a present for you. Let's go behind the mountain, i want to give it to you right now!"
"Mn. I have presents too."
"Lan er-gege is such a good boyfriend...", he smirks with that brat look Lan WangJi is secretly so fond of, "I bet you will be the best husband too."
Lan WangJi feel how his ears are hot behind his hair, Wei Ying know that, so he let his fingers move the hair behind the said ear and giggle, "So cute!", he says, bending to Lan WangJi's side and kissing his ear.
Lan WangJi trip a little and Wei Ying hugs him, his face going to worried to happy and playfull, hugging Lan WangJi's neck and laughing until his lips are sealed with Lan WangJi's own mouth.
{...}
Lan WangJi look at the emperor smile on his hand with the memories on his mind. He didn't buy it, some disciples from GusuLan shared it with him when he was passing by their tends, drinking in silence, don't even bothered by the Second Master's presence. Lan WangJi didn't cared either.
Not when Wei WuXian was back, so different. Cold and dark, looking at Lan WangJi with anger every time they meet or ignoring him every time they battle against the Wen soldiers.
The bright smile faded, the warm is not there anymore and their love, on Wei WuXian's words, "Wasn't meant to be.", but even now, hurt and alone, Lan WangJi was worried about him.
Their relationship didn't ended, so he goes to Wei WuXian's tend, left the bottle and goes back to his camp to sleep.
Wei WuXian, however, can't sleep well that night. Not when he is so hurt by Lan WangJi's look and words he throwed at him when he finally came back to hell, not when he still have nightmares with that place, not when the war isn't over, not when his sect was invaded and his friend murdered.
Not even when fighting every single time about abandoning this path and why, Lan WangJi is still gifting him meals and wine that he likes so much.
He can't sleep, with only a bottle of wine, good memories of lovely light eyes and the sun days on Lotus Pier to keep him company all night.
