"Why did you offend her initially?"
"Because I did not ask her permission to interview the villagers."
Again he shook his head. "That was part of it. But you also refused to allow her to treat you as a guest. If you do not admit kindness from others, you cannot be surprised when they fail to offer any."

“One does not need magic if one knows enough stories”
I loved Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries and Map of Otherlands SO MUCH. Wendell and Emily are so cute. The perfect blend of cottage core and dark academia which I love. (It’s great to be immersed in academia and not have to write any papers yourself, 10/10)
Of course greenery all over for the fae, a brooch of Shadow, a manuscript and spelled pencil, and a pin of a needle, leaves, and thread for these beautiful, unique, and complex characters and their world where faeries are not only real but a thing to write a dissertation over. I absolutely cannot wait for book three and all the future stories to come!
(Side note I swear he’s not wearing a leather jacket its just that I thought Wendell deserved a fancy coat and here we are 😂)

“And you shall shut yourself away forever in those old stones with your books and your mysteries like a dragon with her hoard, having as little association with the living as possible and emerging only to breathe fire at your students.”

For Jesse/Emily ideas, the classic drunk confession. Either due it good old alcohol or Altered Item, one of the two gets intoxicated and confesses their feelings, fluff, angst, or whatever else ensues.
Hi!! I know this is a late response but I did actually end up writing this!! https://archiveofourown.org/works/54285067
I’ve been cranking at it for the better part of the month and I’m really happy with how it turned out! I know it’s not /totally/ a complete drunk confession but I hope you enjoy :) it sort of reads like a 5 + 1 fic, with back and forth about their pasts and what not w/fun(ish) questions
a disclaimer: I have never been drunk. And also Emily’s backstory is completely just from my head it is not cannon‼️

Ghosts x Hedonism x Bisexuality & Ghastly revenge.
Working title: ghosts x hedonism.
Tumblr media
Genre: queer gothic horror/speculative fiction but above all a ghost story.
POV: third person limited and sometimes omniscient narrator.
Summary: What if Sibyl Vane was too haunt Dorian Gray? Heavily inspired by Wilde’s poetry, Emilie Autumn, steampunk, the allegory of ghosts as the inescapable past popularized by Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol. As well as the folklore of banshees, avenging angels & La Llorona.
Playlist.
Excerpt: “It’s only that…” he cried. “I wish I could stay forever young while this painting bares my every sin and sign of age, when I find I am aging I shall simply off myself,” having saved the painting he throws himself on the divan dramatically wiping away tears with a handkerchief.  Silently he prayed to himself, for an answer, that he could indeed have an out and that the painting would age and rot in his sted. He doubted God or Lucifer, the devil would answer but oh how he tried.

Ok, INCREDIBLY shallow follow-up to yesterday's post, but after that throwaway line about an in-universe biopic about Honor, I have to wonder:
How does the Manticoran (or Grayson, for that matter) version of Hollywood deal with treecats? Are they all CG? Do they look ok to treecat eyes or is it an uncanny valley situation? (I'm assuming it looks pretty flawless to humans.) Or are there treecat actors? Do 'cats think of that as a form of lying or is the intention separate enough that it "tastes" different?
If they make fluffy treecat slippers (seriously maybe one of my favorite bits of Weber's worldbuilding ever), I can only assume they're a decently popular trope in fiction there, so...

Do you guys also have those phone numbers of people who you haven't spoken to in years but you once adored and still think of fondly so you can't bear to delete them even though realistically they've changed their number by now or is that just me

At times the world may seem an unfriendly and sinister place, but believe that there's much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough.
