The annual BAU Halloween Costume Competition (Spencer Reid x fem!Bau reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Spencer wants to win a costume competition, but wins your heart instead.  Word Count: 2.6K Warnings: Other than cursing? extreme fluff.  A/N: Happy Halloreid and Gublerween everyone!! and if you celebrate it, happy Ieroween as well!  Masterlist
Tumblr media
No one could ever say Penelope Garcia threw lousy Halloween parties. They were always fun, with the best food and theme. Over the years, she had organized incredible celebrations for the entire BAU family. It was her moment to shine. Decorations were always spot on, the altar was always ready for pictures of long-lost loved ones. There were theme cocktails and food, but by far, the most important event of the night was the Halloween costume competition.
It had started as a joke during their first Halloween celebration, and over the years, it had turned into the main event of the night. Each year, Penelope made sure she had a prize for the winner of first place and a little something for second and third. In fact, she usually got something for everybody who participated in the party, 'cos that's the kind of host Garcia was.
And that year wasn't the exception.
The entire team was excited about the celebration. They needed a moment to relax after the last couple of cases they had had. Well, the entire team except for Spencer Walter Reid. Instead of looking forward to the celebration, he was freaking out trying to find the best costume to finally win the BAU Costume Competition. Why? because he was the only member of the team who had never won first place. Hell! He never even got second or third. He just got a participation price every year. And he hated it.
Halloween was Spencer's favorite holiday. He wasn't really into Christmas, it was too emotional and it reminded him of all the holidays he spent alone with his mother growing up, and how sometimes she wouldn't even remember it was Christmas. New Year wasn't his type of celebration 'cos he wasn't a party guy. He didn't enjoy clubbing and his definition of a fun evening included a bunch of books, herbal tea, and his couch. Not to mention Valentines. That was a miserable holiday for Reid. He never had a date that day, and the only girl he wanted to ask out was - at least according to his own words - way out of his league. So, to sum it up, Spencer's favorite holiday was Halloween and he couldn't even win a work costume competition.
He felt it was personal that year. He had to win. He had to have his moment of joy.
- "See you all guys tonight in my house!"- Garcia was beaming as she stood in front of the team that October 31st during their daily morning meeting.- "Everything is ready! We are going to have so much fun!"
- "We'll be there at seven. Savannah is very excited."- Morgan clapped his hands once and chuckled- "And you can all forget about winning this year's costume contest, 'cos me and my girl are gonna kill it."
- "I don't know, me and Will have a matching costume that could be the best one yet."- JJ smiled confidently at Morgan and Spencer frowned.
- "Do couples' costumes get more points?"- the young doctor asked, confused.
- "No, but they are fun!"- Garcia explained with a huge grin. - "Do you have your costume ready, boy wonder?"
- "Yes, and I don't mean to get cocky, but I'm sure this year you are all going to be amazed."- Reid answered with a smirk on his face.
- "No more Doctor Who then?"- Emily teased, chuckling- "You didn't knit any scarf this year."
- "My knitting skills are saved for Whovian's conventions only."- Spencer replied, making Em laugh. - "And I won't say a thing about my costume, it will be a surprise."
- "Hey, Spencer."- Garcia whispered and grabbed his sleeve as they all walked out of the briefing room, forcing him to stay behind with her.- "I was wondering if you are planning to ask (Y/N) out, or if you are going together to the party."
And Spencer's heart stopped. He opened his eyes and stared at his friend in disbelief. Not that he thought no one knew about his crush on his teammate. He just wasn't ready to deal with it just yet.
- "Ok, breathe, Reid!"- Garcia shook his arm as he nearly panicked in silence, standing in front of her. - "You don't have to do anything you don't want to, but it's getting painful to watch. She likes you too!"
- "I don't... I don't feel."- Spencer tried to rearrange the words in his head, but failed. Instead, all he managed to do was frown and sigh.
- "Wow, an IQ of 187 slashed to nothing just like that. It's amazing. You hear the legends about it, but when you see it happen, it's disturbing."- Penelope did her best not to laugh at Spencer's humiliated face. His cheeks were burning as he kept trying to explain what was happening inside his brilliant brain.
- "You don't get it, I can't ask (Y/N) out! We work together! We are on the same FBI team! What if it doesn't work? What if I lose my friend all because I thought I had a shot with her? or worse! What if she doesn't like me that way, and she laughs in my face? How do I work with her after that?"
- "But how do you live with yourself now?"- Garcia whispered after Spencer's speech.- "You are alone, loving a girl in silence. That's even worse than failing. That's just being miserable."
Spencer didn't reply. He stared at Garcia in silence as she cut him a short smile and gave him a small hug.
- "I know you love Halloween, maybe tonight could be your night."
That poor man just wanted to win a simple Halloween costume contest, and now he wasn't sure he actually wanted to go to that celebration.
Spencer took his time getting ready for the party. He had picked a Beetlejuice costume that went with his crazy natural hair. He did his makeup, put on the stripped suit, combed his crazy hair, and stared at his reflection in the mirror.
- "You might not get the girl tonight, but you are getting your first prize in that costume competition."- he assured himself in the mirror before leaving his bathroom, ready to go to Garcia's.
- "Reid! Wait for me!"- (Y/N) shouted as she ran to cross the street, holding her bag and wig in place. Spencer turned and stared at her, feeling the wind was knocked out of his lungs. She looked hot. Not good. Hot. Smoking hot. So hot he couldn't help but scan her outfit up and down before he even tried to speak. She was dressed as Lydia Deetz, wearing a red dress that hugged her body in all the right places.
- "Wh... wh... w... wow."- that was all he could say when she smiled at him staring at his costume.
- "I know, right?! I can't believe we are matching!! I had no idea you were coming as Beetlejuice!"
- "I... when I... I really... wow."- Spencer was glad no one could see him making a fool out of himself. Well. no one but the co-worker he loved. Yet, he knew if Morgan or Rossi saw him, it would be worse.
- "You look amazing, Spencer!"- (Y/N) smiled and rubbed his arm as he just stared at her, trying to form an intelligent sentence.
- "Thank you, so do you."- that was all he managed to say. (Y/N) continued smiling as she walked inside the building and into the elevator. Spencer just followed her in silence, trying to make his brain function again.
- "Oh my god!! You look amazing (Y/N)!"- Garcia nearly yelled as she opened the door and found her teammates in the hall. - "And! Oh, Jesus!! You are matching costumes too! This is amazing!"- Spencer smiled, awkwardly, thinking his friend was already one or two cocktails in, which meant that in about half an hour she was potentially going to start embarrassing him in front of (Y/N).
- "So you really wanted the extra point for matching costumes?"- JJ teased Spencer as he and (Y/N) walked into the apartment.
- "You said there were no extra points!"- he replied immediately, hoping no one would start teasing him right away. Because, obviously they would.
- "There are no extra points, but there is extra fun when you get back home."- Morgan teased him, holding Savannah's waist as she stood next to him.- "Is that your plan too, kids?"
- "You guys look amazing!"- (Y/N) ignored Derek's comment and smiled at them. They were dressed as Aladdin and Princess Jazmine.
- "Not really creepy, though."- Spencer added.- "And Halloween is the night to be creepy."
- "You are creepy all year long."- Morgan's snarky comment was ignored when Garcia walked over with drinks for everybody. JJ and Will were dressed as Harley Quinn and The Joker, Rossi was dressed as Dracula, Hotch was Neo, from Matrix, Emily was Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction, and Garcia was Tiffany, Chucky's girlfriend. Sergio, her cat, was walking around the apartment in a tiny Chucky costume.
If you asked Spencer, he was sure he had a chance to win the competition that year. If only he could focus on it. But with (Y/N) dressed as his character's bride, dancing with Em and JJ, he had trouble thinking clearly.
- "Ok, loverboy. How did you manage to keep it in the dark about this?"- Derek asked Spencer after an hour or so into the celebration. Reid was standing next to a table, holding a drink and staring at (Y/N) dancing, not even being subtle.
- "About what?"
- "You two are clearly together. When did that happen?"
- "What? No... we... I am... she doesn't. We aren't.... no!"- he tried to explain and failed in the process. Derek raised an eyebrow staring at him, and Reid made his best effort to explain his mind. - "We didn't plan this, it just happened. I had no idea she was gonna show up dressed as Lydia."
- "Kid, you don't have to lie anymore. I'm glad things worked your way."
- "We are not together. She doesn't... we haven't. It.. it's not gonna happen, Ever!"- Spencer wanted to storm out, but he stayed still. Instead of leaving, he turned around and looked at the table, avoiding eye contact with anyone in the room. Morgan walked a step closer and stood next to his friend.
- "You didn't plan this? You are not dating?"- and Reid just shook his head,- "And what are you waiting for?"
- "It's not gonna work."
- "Of course it won't. Not if you have a lousy attitude. She loves you, stop being a coward and kiss her."
- "Easy for you to say, no girl has ever rejected you."
- "Come on, kid. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. As far as I know, she likes you too. Now go there and ask her to dance."- before Spencer could argue, Morgan walked away. And the young doctor stood there, staring at the guacamole bowl, not able to move.
- "What caught your eyes?"- (Y/N)'s voice nearly gave him a heart attack. She just stood next to him with a big smile and stared at the food on the table.- "Hungry?"
- "I'm... I'm... the cheese board looks great."- he mumbled and mentally facepalmed himself for making such a stupid comment.
- "It does! Garcia has really outdone herself this year. And last year was already pretty awesome."- Spencer didn't reply, he just stared at the food, avoiding eye contact, in a desperate attempt to keep his brain working. But (Y/N) just sighed, and after a few seconds of silence, she just walked away. Reid closed his eyes and bit his lips.
- "Well done, asshole. You really know how to look like a jerk."- he argued with himself.
- "Everybody! Get together! we are gonna vote for this year's best costume!"- Penelope clapped a few times and stood in front of the group, next to the altar with pictures of their loved ones.
- "As every year, we'll choose the winner with our clap-o-meter"- which they didn't really have, but the costume with the louder reaction from the team was the winner.
- "First we have the Joker and Harley Quinn."- JJ and Will walked to the front and the entire room started clapping.
- "Then we have Aladdin and Jasmine."- Morgan held Savannah's hand and walked in front of their friends. Everybody clapped as Savannah did a little dance and Morgan rubbed a golden lamp. Spencer looked at (Y/N), she was clapping and smiling, looking as happy as ever.
- "Next one, Beetlejuice and Ly..."
- "No!"- Spencer interrupted Garcia, raising his arm.- "We didn't come together as a couple."- and as soon as he delivered those words, Spencer turned and looked at (Y/N). Her smile was long gone from her face. Instead, she stared at him in shock. She was hurt, she was embarrassed. And most of all, she was storming out of the apartment.
- "Shit!"- Spencer whispered as she quickly followed her, as all their friends stared at them in silence. They were all thinking pretty much the same: he had fucked it up and he better fixed it.
- "(Y/N) wait!"- Spencer ran after her and held her arm before she reached the stairs.-
- "No, Spencer! I'm done! I know you hate me, but you don't have to be so mean! I thought we could work together and be civil, but clearly, you don't stand me! So, please! let me go home so you can enjoy your evening at peace."
Spencer stared at her in shock. That's what he had accomplished. That she thought he hated her. And all because he didn't know how to act around her anymore.
- "(Y/N), no. I don't hate you."
- "Don't lie! You are just gonna make it worse. I know you hate me, you never talk to me, you walk away whenever I show up, and clearly, you don't wanna participate in a silly costume competition with me!"- (Y/N) pulled her arm from Spencer's hand and started walking down the stairs. But before she could go too far, Spencer held her hand and stopped her.
- "I don't hate you, I fucking love you! I have no idea how to act when you are around! I can't even speak when you are looking at me!"- he blurted out, not even thinking. (Y/N) stared at him, frowning. None of them said a word for a few seconds until she managed to whisper.
- "What?"
- "I... love... I love you."- Spencer repeated, in a softer voice. (Y/N) took a step closer and tried to read his face, looking for any sign of deceit. But there wasn't. Instead, he stared at her in adoration, waiting to see if his words had had any kind of effect on her.
- "You do?"- she asked, and Spencer blinked, nodding- "'Cos I love you too. So much."- she whispered, blushing.
- "You... do?"- Spencer nearly choked with the words. (Y/N) nodded and smiled, as the two of them fell silent one more time
- "Now kiss the girl, damn it!!"- Rossi yelled from inside the apartment, making them giggle. Spencer held (Y/N)'s hand and moved closer to her, staring right at her lips. She smiled in anticipation and nearly had a heart attack when she felt Spencer's lips on hers, kissing her so slowly, carefully, and sweetly, like she was made of crystal.
After a few seconds, they moved apart from each other and simply smiled, still in disbelief.
- "Do you... wanna go back inside?"- (Y/N) whispered, and pointed to Garcia's apartment.
- "Or... would you like to go out on a date?"- Spencer suggested, and her eyes shone in excitement.
- "A date on Halloween sounds like the best plan ever. But I thought this year you wanted to win the costume contest."
- "A date with you is the best prize ever."- Spencer replied and held her hand, leading the way downstairs.

Modern IC Halloween Headcanons
Tumblr media
🎃 The Inner Circle all go hard for Halloween and put in lots of effort to make sure they make the most of it.
🎃 Rhysand and Feyre are absolutely a matching costume couple and you just know they’d be the sexiest pair in the room.
🎃 Until Nyx is born that is, when they would go full family mode. Nyx’s first Halloween Rhysand and Feyre dressed as the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood, whilst Nyx was dressed as a tiny lumberjack.
🎃 Nesta was never the biggest fan of Halloween as her parents never let her and her sisters go trick or treating. Once Nyx is born though, she loves getting to take him trick or treating with Elain and Feyre every year.
🎃 On the 1st of October every year, Feyre and Cassian would team up to drunk decorate like in ACOFAS, and poor Azriel would have to intervene so they didn’t just throw toilet paper everywhere, claiming it was a giant spiders web.
🎃 Elain would bake the BEST stuff. Pumpkin themed everything, deserts with spooky designs and the biggest chocolate orange cake as the centrepiece.
🎃 Mor would be on drinks duty. Coming up with cute cocktails and mocktails and maybe even some deathly punch.
🎃 Mor and Cassian would also fight over the right to make the party playlist and would eventually be scolded by Rhys for acting like toddlers. They would then be forced to make a joint playlist and would almost kill each other in the process.
🎃 The Valkyries would do a group costume and would be such a cute lil’ trio. Hocus Pocus remains their most popular costume choice, but Mean Girls was up there too.
🎃 Cassian would be very sad about missing out on Mean Girls and so the next year Nesta convinces the girls to let Cassian join in on their Wizard of Oz costume.
🎃 Amren would always turn up dressed in her regular clothes, because “Everyone tells me I’m scary, so I’m coming as myself”.
🎃 She pretends to be over the whole Halloween thing every single year, but Feyre has caught her on multiple occasions smirking to herself whilst watching Nesta jump-scare Cassian.
🎃 Az would also dislike dressing up and usually dressed in his normal attire of black jeans and a black t-shirt, but Elain and Feyre would always manage to convince him to let them draw some cat whiskers on his face.

hi <3 i woke up with a scenario in mind and a lot of questions and heebiejeebies about it so here i am with some headcanons.
could you please for a second imagine what halloween would be like with larissa?
[gn!reader]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
⭒i know she gets so excited because not only does she have the opportunity to dress up, but thanks to her powers so to speak, she can also become whatever she wants and look a thousand times cooler than anyone else. she puts on a whole show for the holiday, she loooves to do a performance of the character/whatever she chose, completely sinking into the role for the rest of the day.
what do you think her costume would be? me personally... i can't decide.
⭒which leads me to say for sure that she was a theater girl, a little performer (she told me herself this morning), for that reason she loves to wear funny clothes and put herself in someone else's skin besides her own. she loves acting, that hobby never ceased to be an important part of her life, even as she became an adult with endless responsibilities, she always found a space for this activity.
⭒every year you would do your best to be at least a little bit up to her level, and every year you are vastly outdone by your wife.
she doesn't really care what you decided to wear as long as you feel comfortable and like your outfit, the only thing she truly cares about is the time she spends with you getting dressed up together. when she sees the final product she showers you with compliments, you look ravishing even specially in the most hideous and terrifying costume.
⭒she also enjoys the process of it all, the make over, and she needs to plan everything to perfection, down to the smallest detail, at least one or two months in advance. this in between the little breaks she has from work.
⭒and yes, she does look for makeup tutorials on youtube.
⭒matching costumes is a huge yes for our silver lady.
⭒if you live together, i can say for a fact that she has boxes and boxes stored with a lot of decorations both purchased and also handmade by the two of you in previous years.
making crafts with you relaxes her like you wouldn't believe.
⭒be sure that your house will be full of candy for the children who come knocking on your door trick or treating.
⭒and if you have an out-doors relationship, as the date approaches, you pick out a small antique from the local store that she can use to set the mood in her home, or maybe something made by your own hands, which she appreciates tremendously.
⭒she likes to make a special date with you to go pumpkin picking in one of the pumpkin patches outside of town. your opinion is important to her even when it comes to little things.
⭒she is very versatile and likes to learn a little bit of everything, she is constantly looking for something new to do, so she is a fan of try and making themed cocktails not only for halloween. you can be having dinner in a comfortable silence one night a few weeks before the end of october, and suddenly she'll be talking to you with her eyes glued to the screen of her cell phone, a sweet, excited smile painted on her lips as she tells you she found a recipe that sounds delicious, already scheming what glasses she could serve them in, what cute little thing she could put on them to make them look a bit more spooky.
she has impeccable taste. we all know that.
⭒thrillers and horror movies, a nice bottle of wine, a warm blanket and a sweet cuddle on the couch are clearly your every-single-year special thing.
⭒the party she throws at the academy is simply unforgettable, to say the least. as the perfectionist that she is, she takes care of every little tiny thing until the very last minute, spares no expense and of course, seeing her students and the love of her life enjoy her efforts is more than enough pay for her.
⭒she's a teaser, she talks dirty, but she likes it discreet, classy, something that's not too explicit, but that makes it very clear what she wants to do or do to you. with all this said, halloween dirty jokes are on the table.
⭒if you're not much of a halloween lover, trust me, she'll take it upon herself to turn you into one with everything in her hands, definitely getting her way by having a slightly more... naughty costume to wear exclusively in the privacy of the four walls of her room with you that night.
keep in mind that she gets into the role like a pro ;)
⭒trick or treat kind of role play.
⭒this woman loves to give you a little something that day as if it were christmas because why not?
⭒sometimes she pulls some of her favorite costumes out of her closet and models them for you in the living room, no matter what month of the year it is, just for fun. that's quite a show too as she looks incredibly delighted by the way you applaud every time she changes outfits and gives you a brief explanation of the characteristics and personality of the character she is bringing to life at that moment.
━━━━━━。゜✿ฺ✿ฺ゜。━━━━━━
hope u liked it <3

Day 18- The Hunter’s Moon
Dhawan!Master X Reader
Prompt: Full Moon
Notes: Yes, i did in fact get inspired from the Ghost song. I also loved getting to use my witchy knowledge in this one. The moon truly rocks! Also a bit more dialogue orientated than my usual stuff. At least to me it is. Today has been busy!
Warnings: Suggestive language.
Tumblr media
The Lunar Gardens were a thing of legend. A gorgeous escape, their locations only known to those who had the right connections. It was up there with the luxurious likes of Darillium, the most romantic of spots for intergalactic travellers who so desperately yearned for a night under the potent energy of the moon.
There you’d been, the pair of you, you and the Master. Sat there in your best, dining on the most delicious meal you’ve ever had, under the gorgeous glory of the fat full moon. It shone in the night, bathing the gardens in an unearthly cast of blue. It shimmered against the glitter on your outfit, the Master’s suit lined with silver that glimmered under the beam. The crystal of your wine glasses sparkled, as did the shimmer of your cocktails. The Master had gone all out and treated you tonight.
“I’d hate to be a werewolf here.” You’d whispered, gazing so wonderfully at the shining giant.
The Master had grinned, delicately taking your arm and guiding you to your table. You’d been seated in the prime spot, the gardens around you decorated with the Earth's most seasonal decor- carved pumpkins lined the path, the crockery and silverware a jet black, the bushes and shrubs artistically draped with faux spider webs and themed lights. Of course, the Master had booked for the Autumn. He may have claimed to be a lone wolf, but he remembered every single fact about yourself you’d mentioned. He may not have enjoyed admitting it, but he was always so desperate for you to enjoy the things he suggested. He’d say a happy assistant is an effective one. You thought he just enjoyed seeing you smile.
The candle upon the middle of the table burned with a familiar black flame, the silver wax dripping artfully from the crescent moon shaped holder. You brushed your foot up the Master's calf, watching him smile darkly as he casually sipped his drink.
“It’s the Hunter's moon, tonight.” He mused, glancing up at the moon.
“It's a cycle of three-”
“Three years that it appears over Earth in the month of October. It’s also a rarity that the full moon appears on Halloween night.”
The Timelord tilted his head, watching you proudly as you sipped from your glass.
“As if I could forget, I got the hippie human.”
“You complain now, but just you wait until I start dancing skyclad and chanting.”
The Master paused, lip curving into a smirk.
“Do you have to join in the spell thing to get to watch that, or…?”
You swatted in his direction, the Master chuckling as he leant forward to take another bite from his food.
“I remember living through the Seventies, twice, they were chock full of all that sort of thing. All those New Age spiritualists, who had no clue they were basically redoing everything from Daemos. Don’t even get me started on that weirdo Gerald Gardener. Basically wanted to make old worldy stuff new.”
You leant forward curiously, placing your glass down on the table. You also returned to digging into your food, hoping to prompt the Master further.
“Surely then you lived through all the supernatural moral panics.”
The Master nodded, raising his fork to his lips.
“Oh, love, literally everything. I tried to pay no mind but honestly, most of it was alien. Satanic panic? Alien. Psychic fields trying to affect the world, some shitty low level blood control. Most ghosts? Alien.”
“Don’t tell me the Highgate vampire was an alien. I’ll be heartbroken.”
The Master paused, considering the thought.
“Nope, still have no clue what the hell that actually was.”
You gave a small victory fist bump, causing the Timelord to laugh fondly.
“So tell me, Witchy Woo,” He started, placing down his knife and fork and leaning closer across the table. “Hunter's moon. Explain.”
You gave a happy sigh, settling your cutlery down upon your plate. You gazed up to the looming mass of space rock, investigating every crevice and crater. It was beautiful, the way it softly spun and orbited the garden. It felt like it was watching over you.
“Hunters moon, let’s see… peak harvest time, great for the early native farmers to hunt and gather supplies for the Winter.”
The Master watched, invested. He already knew everything about it, nothing was truly new. He was simply fond of just how passionate you became when you discussed things you loved.
“It’s also called the blood moon, mainly due to scientific phenomena and how high it rises in the Earth's atmosphere.”
“So on Earth, this thing looks red.”
“Exactly. It has its connotations of the harvest, being grateful for what you have, and keeping balance. It’s mainly moving on from the Autumn and getting ready for the Winter.”
The Master’s hand had reached out, and you placed yours within his with earnestness. He softly squoze your palm, looking up at the moon.
“So, if it’s the harvest, that includes a hunt, right?”
You nodded in reply, thumb stroking over the back of his hand.
“And if I recall… you mentioned a bit about being skyclad...”
Once more, you nodded. The Master rubbed at his beard dramatically, a devious twinkle in his eye.
“I think there's an opportunity here for a pretty trailblazing idea.”
Leaning further, foot caressing tauntingly up his leg, you quirked up a brow.
“Something you’re offering to workshop?”
The Master grinned, all teeth and deviance, just as a waiter arrived to take your plates.
“Are you intending to order dessert?” It asked scratchily, stacking the plates in its five spare hands, its front two clasped together elegantly.
“We’ll take one of everything.” The Master said absentmindedly, the plan already working itself through his head like new computer code, rewriting every sinful neuron he held in his possession.
“To go.” You added, heart beginning to pound at the low sweat building on your skin.
“Head start to the TARDIS.” The Master whispered, every cheetah planet instinct awakening with frenzy. You stood from the table, reclaiming your clutch and winking over your shoulder.
“Catch me if you can.” You purred, before scarpering off under the glow of the moon.
The Master inhaled deep, staring up at the Hunters Moon with excitement. The hunt was officially on.

❝ We're all afraid of the dark inside ourselves —  ❞
Halloween only comes once a year and not even an attempt to cancel the scariest season of all from the mayor herself will cause Victoria Carlyle to miss the season she hates the most. No one is really sure why she hates it, but rumor has it that she rents out the entirety of Peak Seasons to host the city’s largest Spooktacular Soiree just to spite the holiday itself. This year, she has an even bigger agenda, show everyone in the city that no one can stop Providence Peak from a good celebration. Dress in your best costume and head to the hotel early to grab a daring (and potent) drink of Morgue-A-Rita or Jekyll & Gin before experiencing the truly traumatic scares down each themed hallway of the hotel. Want to skip the scares? Stick to the ground level where you’ll find the host herself judging the evening costume contest, everyone Scream-ing to The Peak’s Keola and Mya’s spookiest soundtrack, and even more treats like kettlecorn, candy, and cocktails to ring in the season.
IN CHARACTER DETAILS
Location: Peak Seasons, Downtown.
Time: Dusk to Dawn.
Date: Saturday, October 29th.
Invitees: Victoria Carlyle opens the door to all those who dare to enter (except Jordan Walker, she makes sure his ‘invitation’ gets lost in the mail).
OUT OF CHARACTER DETAILS
This event will begin Friday, October 28th at 5pm EST and end on Friday, November 4th at midnight EST.
Threads do not have to be paused, but everyone is encouraged to participate.
Activity checks and acceptances will continue as usual.
Please tag starters with providence.event but do not tag it providence.starter. Event starters will be reblogged to the starter blog and deleted once the event has concluded.

'Belinda Says' by Alvvays
While Blue Rev’s October 7 release inches ever closer, Alvvays have previewed two new album tracks that couldn’t be more tonally different. “Very Online Guy”, a vivisection of terminally online culture, delivers its satiric edge with a sharp tongue and clipped melodies, its synths mimicking the Teutonic impassivity of Kraftwerk. ”He's a very online guy, he types his cool replies / He's incredibly animal" Rankin sneers, digging the dagger a little too close to my heart. To listen to both tracks in succession is to hear how comfortable they are in their sound three albums in, and how willing they are to play around its rough edges without disturbing the shape.
If “Very Online Guy”’s oddball sensibility is best suited for a B-side, “Belinda Says” would be the A. It’s a maximalist evolution of their more expressive tendencies, all blooming hooks and blurred emotions contained within cascading layers of distortion. But if the sound is bigger it’s because the themes are too: the song tackles the growing pains of maturity, of unexpected motherhood and uncertain futures, of finding the right path and then, somehow, the will to navigate it.
The album’s title also finds its lyrical source here, named after the alcoholic cocktail Rankin and MacLellan used to drink as teenagers in their native Canada: “Blue rev behind the rink, I didn't really need it". Crossing the threshold into adulthood often means knowing your limits, slowing down and making a choice that’s your own. And sometimes that’s enough of a first step to start you on your way.

National Twilight Zone Day
“You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!”
Beloved by children, teenagers and adults alike, the cult classic TV show The Twilight Zone has affected entire generations of people, prompting them to take a closer look at life and various phenomena and take nothing for granted, thanks to its unique combination of science fiction, mystery, and thriller/horror themes. Not to mention how many of today’s well-known actors got their start in it—Burt Reynolds, Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, to name but a few. How then could this majorly influential show not have its own holiday?
History of Twilight Zone Day
The Twilight Zone was created by acclaimed television producer Rod Sterling in 1959, with the first episode premiering on October 2nd. At the time of its release, it was vastly different from anything else on TV, and it struggled a bit to carve out a niche for itself at the very beginning. In fact, Sterling himself, though respected and adored by many, was famous for being one of Hollywood’s most controversial characters and was often call the “angry young man” of Hollywood for his numerous clashes with television executives and sponsors over issues such as censorship, racism, and war. However, his show soon gained a large, devoted audience. Terry Turner of the Chicago Daily News gave it a rave review, saying, “…Twilight Zone is about the only show on the air that I actually look forward to seeing. It’s the one series that I will let interfere with other plans”. The Twilight Zone ran for five seasons on CBS from 1959 to 1964.
Twilight Zone Day is an annual holiday created to celebrate this thought-provoking television series, where everything was strange and surreal and nothing was ever quite as it seemed to be.
How to celebrate Twilight Zone Day
There are a number of ways to celebrate Twilight Zone Day, and the one you choose may be connected to how well you know this TV series. Believe it or not, there are still people out there who have never seen it! You could watch some episodes from the classic series, perhaps “To Serve Man”, “It’s a Good Life”, or “The Eye of the Beholder”, episodes that are widely considered some of the very best in the enitre series. If you don’t know the series and would like to get a taste of what it was like in a nutshell, you could also watch the 1983 Twilight Zone Movie. If, on the other hand, you know The Twilight Zone very well, you could get together with some other Twilight Zone aficionados and play Twilight board or trivia games. Alternately, you could discuss who you think were the strangest Twilight Zone villains, and what the true reasons were for them being the way they were. And what would a good party be without some tasty drinks? Yes, there are Twilight Zone cocktails! Finally, you can try making Twilight Zone cocktails, by mixing Bacardi White, Dark and 151 Proof Rum, Triple Sec, pineapple and orange juices. Sounds pretty scumptious, right? And that’s not its only benefit—if you have a few Twilight Zone Cocktails, you may well find yourself transported to a different dimension, too!fa.

Fall Fridays Vol. 5
Tumblr media
BAKING
I made apple cider doughnut cookies that were really good (although shouldn’t there be apple cider in a cookie with a name like that?), so I’d definitely make them again.
Tumblr media
Above Photo: Apple cider doughnut cookies
COOKING
Made Halloween cake pops with my niece Maya and they came out perfect. (Sprinkles and sticks from Michaels.)
Tumblr media

CRAVING
The nutella-covered hazelnuts at Nuts Factory on Sixth Avenue.
DRINKING
The ‘This is Halloween’ cocktail from the bar Beetle House in the East Village and it was stellar.
Tumblr media
Above Photo: Cocktail from Beetle House, NYC
EATING
Had dinner at Grano Ristorante with Harmeet and it was so lovely, I always forget what a sweet, dark place this can be.
EXPERIENCING
Two things: 1)The annoyingness of locating apple butter. I needed it for that cookie recipe above and couldn’t find it anywhere (I just subbed in applesauce). I hate when a recipe has one obnoxiously hard thing to find. It’s 2023, we don’t have time to be going to numerous grocery store for homemade baked goods. DO BETTER. 2) MOSQUITOES got into our bedroom last night because of how warm it was outside. Mosquitoes in late October. I woke up with ten bites and I wanted to murder someone.
LISTENING
Halloween playlists on Spotify while carving mini pumpkins and I’ve got to say - the song choices weren’t very good or unique. I’ve gotta make one this weekend.
Tumblr media
Above Photo: Mini jack-o-lantern
LOVING
I visited my parent’s house and I can’t express how satisfying it is to rake leaves. It’s the second best outdoor chore next to shoveling snow.
SHOPPING
The sweetest felt Christmas ornaments just went on sale at Target and yes I’m breaking my rule of no-Christmas-activities before November 1st, but if I wait too long to buy them they’ll sell out because other psychos are Christmas shopping already.
WATCHING
The horror movie Thanksgiving looks kind of good maybe? I might be thinking that because I love a holiday-themed movie.
WEARING
I’ve decided I need to expand the feathered section of my closet because I’m wearing this one black top to death.
Tumblr media

And I’ve created an autumn highlight reel on my Instagram incase you care!

NYR: September in review
Post-September horoscope: it can be tempting to live your life like a prequel. to live as if you’re setting up your own story.and once you lose the weight, once you have the money, once you graduate school, once you’re in a real relationship, once, once, once. then finally, you’ll begin to live, and everything you do up until that point is some kind of half-life, some unimportant foreword you can skip. don’t do this. inhabit your life completely. sink fully into the wealth of your existence. the power to manifest is in the fearless owning of who you are, so that you can shape where you’re going.
Long horoscope quote this month, but I've been thinking about history a lot lately. A lot about the past, and the future, and thinking about how very soon I'm going to be in a new stage altogether come next year, with a finished PhD and a fresh new decade of my thirties ahead.
In September:
chapter three revised draft. Completed! One more chapter left to revise, and then the introduction and conclusion. Then it's done. The whole thesis revised and ready for the final round of edits and tweaks.
Duolingo every day. I admit my heart isn't it in at the moment but I trudge onward nevertheless.
Blood test. I've been putting it off for months because I've been busy and tired, but finally went and got it done. Now my doctor wants to have a talk (ugh). It never ends. But I do actually want to take better care of myself so I Have To.
Best friend's baby shower. It was so lovely! The baby is due at the end of October so basically could come any day now, especially since mum was premature and might be a family thing. I'm very excited to meet him. And also for her to not be pregnant anymore, she's hated it.
Zine fair. Got some cool zines and had a nice time catching up with friends. I'm thinking it might be fun to make some myself and set up a table next time.
Interview with Aunty for org. history + info. It's been on my list since the beginning of the year to sit down with her for this audio-recording and we finally made it happen. Very happy for that (and relieved) and I'm looking forward to working with her more in the future to improve the organisation.
Clair got an ADHD diagnosis + meds. Success!! I am putting this in my recap for the month because actual years of work went into getting to this point and, humbly, I have been INTEGRAL in all of it on account of her having super-bad-at-navigating-the-many-many-complex-steps-of-getting-a-diagnosis disorder and I am a sexy type A hyper-admin kind of guy. You can now applaud.
In October, I will:
revise chapter four. And ideally finish introduction and conclusion, and send the entire dissertation to my supervisor for another pass.
plan my birthday party! We're now about six weeks out until the event so it's time to actually plan the logistics. Important things like what themed cocktails to make, and what fancy little cakes to order, and the playlist.
run the AGM. And also be officially voted in as chair, rather than acting chair. A bit nervous about it since it's back-to-back COM meeting then AGM, and the AGM is going to be attended by a local politician because there's an award going to above Aunty for being great, and I'm the one who needs to give the speech about her. I know it'll all be fine, but I remain nervous. Don't tell anyone.
going to the museum. Tomorrow! Great way to start the month.

Pride is a year-round observance in Vegas
Tumblr media
National Pride Month is celebrated every June, honoring the LGBTQ+ community and its contributions and culture. Las Vegas observes Pride year-round -- including its own official Pride celebration each October -- as the destination is an ideal place for members of the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate their true selves regardless of the occasion. Here are some Las Vegas Pride Month highlights, annual events and LGBTQ+ nightspots that keep the party going all year long.
PRIDE MONTH EVENTS IN LAS VEGAS
Caesars Entertainment will celebrate Pride Month by lighting up the High Roller observation wheel at The LINQ Promenade and the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas in rainbow colors on Thursday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 28.
The Venetian Resort Las Vegas kicks off Pride Month on Thursday, June 1 by displaying the colors of the Pride flag on the resort’s exterior tower signs.
In recognition and celebration of LGBTQ+ voices and culture, The Neon Museum has created a self-guided tour using the stanchion toppers which will be dotted around the Neon Boneyard to tell some of the LGBTQ+ stories of Las Vegas. Throughout the month, tour guides will place a greater emphasis on these stories, including facts from Las Vegas historian and queer advocate Dennis McBride. Highlights include stories about Liberace, Kenny Kerr and Christine Jorgensen.
Held every Saturday throughout June (and the summer season), the Las Vegas PRIDE Elevate Pool Party promises splash-tastic action at Retro Pool Lounge at SAHARA Las Vegas.
Cheapshot, a showroom and discotheque in downtown Las Vegas, presents an Elton John-themed piano bar experience every Saturday in June.
Tumblr media
Celebrating 13 seasons, the long-running Temptation Sundays pool party at Luxor Hotel & Casino offers fun under the sun every Sunday in June—and the rest of the summer. The hotel’s resident production show, Fantasy, celebrates Pride Month with an additional number added to the production’s shows from Friday, June 16 to Sunday, June 18. The revue’s headliner will mesmerize the audience with a rendition “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga to recognize and show support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Visitors can lace up a pair of roller skates to show some pride, as Las Vegas PRIDE Family Skate Night presented by CRUSH is taking place on Monday, June 5 at Crystal Palace Rancho.
Visitors can participate in friendly competition at Las Vegas PRIDE Family Bingo at The Portal at AREA15 on Wednesday, June 7.
For adventure seekers, Las Vegas PRIDE OUTside Hike offers a trek along Mount Charleston’s Mary Jane Falls trail, taking place Sunday, June 11. The organization also plans monthly hikes throughout the year.
The Mexican hideaway of La Mona Rosa will present a Pride Brunch on Sunday, June 11 and Sunday, June 25. The event will feature a drag show at noon, as well as an exclusive pride cocktail and signature brunch items.
Las Vegas female impersonator Frank Marino will bring a crew of pop-culture favorites to Frankie’s Uptown at Downtown Summerlin for Frank Marino’s Divas Drag Brunch. Taking place on Sunday, June 11, the event features performers giving their very best impersonations of stars such as Taylor Swift, P!nk, Beyonce, Rihanna, Tina Turner and more.
Visitors looking for some laughs with a side of plasticware can enjoy the Tupperware Party with Dixie Longate at 24 Oxford at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on Sunday, June 11, with proceeds benefitting Aid for AIDS Nevada (AFAN). The resort also presents a Pride Month House Party on Wednesday, June 14 at Kassi Beach House, which features LGBTQ+-friendly DJs, a face and body painter and more. Additionally, RuPaul’s Drag Race favorite Monét X Change performs at the hotel’s 24 Oxford lounge on Friday, June 16. The property’s monthlong celebration also includes a production from another RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, as Gia Gunn brings the gossip and drama on Sunday, June 18 to The Shag Room. The special installment of the venue’s Upside Down Tea Party, Spilling the Tea with Gia Gunn, will also feature live performances by Elise Victoria and benefit Aid for AIDS Nevada (AFAN).
GLAM returns to Ghostbar at Palms Casino Resort on Sunday, June 11, hosted by American Idol alumni Mikalah Gordon and featuring DJ Lisa Pittman.
Sports fans can take in a game featuring the World Champion Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, June 15, as Las Vegas Aces PRIDE Night takes place at Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
The 6th Annual PRIDE Bar Crawl takes place Saturday, June 17, when LGBTQ+ bars and mainstream venues invite revelers to hop around the destination. Registration begins at Therapy in the Fremont Street Entertainment District, with the event ending in a drag show and after-party at FreeZone Nightclub & Bar in Las Vegas’ beloved Fruit Loop.
Longtime Las Vegas female impersonator Frank Marino puts on Love Out Loud, a drag brunch at Level Up inside MGM Grand Hotel & Casino on Sunday, June 18. The event will feature performances by Marino and his Divas and include a buffet style brunch and two hours of bottomless champagne or sparkling wine.

The event includes a special performance by Thunder From Down Under and a one-hour meet-and-greet session with the cast. The event also offers a special opportunity for male guests to be allowed to dance on the bars with the Coyote Ugly dancers.
The Liberace: Real and Beyond exhibit opens at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas opens on Saturday, June 24. The display chronicles the LGBTQ+ icon’s life and features many personal items, including costumes, pianos, automobiles and more.
Gold Spike in downtown Las Vegas has announced the return of its Drag Queen Bingo night. Being held in the venue’s Backyard space, the Pride Month installment takes place on Thursday, June 29, featuring bingo games, live performances, giveaways and drink specials. An additional installment will take place on Thursday, Aug. 31.
UPCOMING LGBTQ+ EVENTS IN VEGAS
Wynn Las Vegas will host two well-known LGBTQ+ comedians in July, as Tom Dillon plays the Encore Theater on Saturday, July 22, with Mateo Lane following in the same space on Saturday, July 29.
Singer, choreographer and internet sensation Todrick Hall will take the Vegas stage on Tuesday, Sept. 19, as he presents Todrick Hall: Velvet Rage at House of Blues Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

Las Vegas PRIDE celebrates 40 years with the Ruby Anniversary, aptly named Red and Wild. The annual Las Vegas PRIDE Parade—one of the only nighttime gay pride parades in the United States—kicks off the celebration on Friday, Oct. 6 in downtown Las Vegas. The procession, taking place down Fourth Street, features fabulous floats, glamorous drag queens, community organizations and more.
The parade is only the beginning of a weekend-long celebration of LGBTQ+ unity, as the Las Vegas PRIDE Festival takes place on Saturday, Oct. 7. Held at the Craig Ranch Regional Park, the event features entertainment, food and beverage, family-friendly activities and more.
Las Vegas PRIDE also sponsors additional parties throughout PRIDE weekend and several non-sanctioned parties at the LGBTQ+ venues in the destination also host celebratory events.
ANNUAL LGBTQ+ EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN LAS VEGAS
The Aid for AIDS of Nevada’s AIDS Walk Las Vegas occurs annually in May, most recently taking place at Sunset Park. Now in its 33rd year, the event features entertainment from community and Strip performers, including Chippendales, Vegas! The Show, the Las Vegas Men’s Chorus and more. Nearly 8,000 LGBTQ+ athletes and another 2,000 fans and allies will attend the event, which provides an open atmosphere for LGBTQ+ athletes to connect and compete over the course of four days of competition and social activities.
LGBTQ+ WEDDINGS
Caesars Entertainment offers several nuptial options for same-sex and gender non-binary couples at its resorts throughout the destination, with options to say “I do” on The LINQ Hotel + Experience’s High Roller observation wheel, on the Eiffel Tower deck at Paris Las Vegas, and at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, where celebrity-style wedding packages come complete with paparazzi and a red-carpet host.
Tumblr media
Famed for theatrical themed weddings, the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel offers two new wedding packages: “ShElvis” and “Queens of Vegas.” The two packages performed by icons of drag launches during National Pride Month but will be offered year-round. The ShElvis package includes a drag queen Elvis serving as the officiant, who also will perform two songs; while the Queens of Vegas package features a choice of a drag queen Madonna or Cher impersonator. A.C.T.’s 2nd Annual All Hallows’ Gala: Zombie Ball 2023
American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) and gala co-chairs Heather Stallings Little & John Little and David Jones & Joe D’Alessandro hosted Zombie Ball, the second annual All Hallows’ Gala that was held on Friday, October 27 at San Francisco’s August Hall. Hailed as San Francisco’s best costume party fundraiser, the All Hallows’ Gala Zombie Ball presented guests with a frightfully elegant and theatrical night full of fun, gourmet food and wine, and dancing and games. The evening is the sole annual fundraising event for A.C.T., providing essential funds for the theater’s artistic, actor training, and education and community programs. Guests at this year’s Zombie Ball were encouraged to dress in costume or cocktail attire.
The wonderfully frightening evening began with a cocktail reception where guests enjoyed live music and conversation on the mezzanine, or escaped to the “scream-easy” for a luxe respite. Guests were ushered to the historic music hall and treated to an autumnal-inspired menu created by Gold Leaf Catering. Afterwards, A.C.T. Young Conservatory alum and award-winning stage, screen, and music recording artist Darren Criss (American Buffalo, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, Glee) regaled guests with some thrilling, Halloween-themed programming! Capping off the festive evening was the After-Life Party, featuring ultimate dance band Vinyl Project and the opportunity to play retro-games in the cool underground haunt, which included bowling, hoops, skee-ball, and late-night bites, tricks, and treats. Gala special guest Darren Criss joined the band on vocals and guitar, treating guests to an impromptu mini-concert!
