Thinking about the similarities between...
Tumblr media
And
Tumblr media
(This is the second post about him I've made in a week's span and I'm a bit concerned-)
But let's explain.
- Demon/Ghost Type
- Acts contrary to true motives (is in reality more selfish and vain than on the surface)
- Will kill most beings standing in the way of their goals.
- Loves being the center of attention.
- Alastor is absolutely a good voice claim for thy Toymaker.
- Both were once human.
- Red/Burgundy Hair.
- Views others as playthings.
- Enjoy controlling those around them. (Alastor and his souls, Jason and his chosen ones or toys.)
- Like childish interests like games or toys. (With VERY high stakes.)
- Multiple physical forms.
- Sharp nails.
- Hide in Shadows.
- Can summon minions of a sort. (Alastor = Summon Demons, Jason = Summon Toys)
- An object of physical weakness. (Alastor's Radio Cane/?, Jason's Music Box)
- Old time-y designs, inferring to dying in previous eras from present tense.
- Asexual/Aromatic.
- Green glowing when angered (Jason's eyes, Alastor's stitched smile)
- Have known rivals that counter in blue (Candy Pop, Vox)
- Dominant personalities, prefer to be in control of any social situations.
- Obvious traits of cruelty, sadism, murder, tampering, etc.
- Charismatic in nature.
- Seen as Monsters. (Accurate.)
____________________________________
Anyway, I just thought that was interesting. The thought came from me imagining Jason singing Alastor's parts in this. (Along with other pastas, like Candy Pop, Nathan The Nobody, Puppeteer, Sally, LJ, etc.):
https://youtube.com/watch?v=_lBnG5CLOmk&si=tZWcM6vILJw1i3Ex
I could definitely see Jason flattering people like this when it thrills him.
Oh, and this one! I think of it as an amber eyed Jason, and then the rough voice is his green eyed white hair form.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=wKfOA9sgfO8&si=I1nh1Ic8LAHqEcJz
- "I've got a game I wanna show you,
If I tell you my name, you'll have to play too.
I've been here for years, biding my time,
Waiting and primed until I could find you.
Just sign on the line and we can be friends,
I'll be here for you until your world ends.
Enjoy all your toys, I will supply-"
- "Come into my world, take a look at me.
I am the nightmare on the dark side of the moon.
I'm your first last resort so call me,
When you need a helping hand.
Play your cards wrong and I'll see you soon."
"And once your hunger has abated,
Don't forget your friend who waited."
============================
Anywho.
That's all.

Alastor hazbin let down
By overhype and a lack of tone setting.
He isn't creepy
Try as they may, the glitchy effects just tell me that this is a quirky character, only most of the cast are quirky in character just not too flashy.
Tumblr media
Nobody is particularly menacing, including Alastor who so far has been a bit menacing to a character who isn't going anywhere and unnamed extras who not even Charlie 'everyone is worthy', 'these are my people/family' cared about.
His secrets mean nothing to anyone
Where has he been for seven years? The same absence period of Lilith? Who cares?
What Alastor knows is what the audience and clueless Charlie doesn't, but others do.
Tumblr media
All someone else's talk
In the pilot it was Vaggie who let us know who exactly Alastor was and ehat he was capable of, she wanted no part of him around, but nothing to loose, no opinion in the matter Charlie did.
Tumblr media
Mimzy in her passing visit told us more about him, she actually bought his character down to earth a little which was actually a good thing, Mimzy let us know that Alastor could be fun, reminded us that he had a whole life, she offered us a time frame of his existence and let us know he has friends/acquaintances/connections.
Though the 'bringing down to earth' negative aspect would happen too this episode, through no doing of Mimzys but entirely of Alastors. Unfortunately Alastor appears to have cut off Mimzy as a friend, leaving him with a shorter reach.
Any other reputable character steals his spotlight
Alastair was outshone by Mimzy, who literally interpreted his song baiting the actual devil. In this episode he showed that he wasn't all too composed when not in control of the situation or when outclassed, his attitude to Lucifer case in point, who he can't possibly topple any time soon in any way. All would be fine if we got to see what he did about it when he had time to himself or what he would do when things escalated, a missed opportunity being in the last episode he would lose to Adam, which was great, Alastor gave off overconfidence and lack of interest as usual, but by now we have seen how much he wishes to insert himself among those higher, only for him to treat Adam like a nobody - how did he feel about the looming danger he was in and not being in the same ballpark as someone who felt confident enough to challenge? Who knows, he as good as drifted away like piss in the ocean.
We didn't learn of any particular interest or reason for lack of in Adam, for someone who does so much research.
Tumblr media
Between these encounters, Rosie too managed to stand out more than him as his confidant who successfully run an operation, had a clear goal, seemed unconditionally helpful, a people person and got through to Charlie with nice enough advice and a ear to listen.
He struggles to keep up an act, something that's not utilized at all when it could be
Being overactive to Lucifer, showing dislike for no apparent reason and dropping the bomb seems like it was meant to get a laugh out of the audience, only for Alastor to go on to continue tormenting Charlie's dad and to build a rivalry. If a rivalry was the intention then the usual composed attitude would have fit. If there's a reason for a hatred he struggles to contain, it's a shame the time wasn't made to delve into this.
Tumblr media
Significant characters could have done with more time in general honesty.
In other media we have Good omens had composed and sweet angel Azraphale drop an unexpected but very understandable fbomb (which may have been the first of the series) when he accidentally lost his body of 6000 years. There was a build up of the looming end of the world, years of preventative work going to waste, nobody listening and a pest in his home.
Tumblr media
HH really missed a beat in having a character like Alastor first snap for no particular reason.
Tumblr media
In other media, Durarara did excellent at deconstructing and humbling an unbothered and mysterious troll character, this being Izaya. In this supernatural series he would manage to stand out and consistently be a strong villain/antihero, managing to not become lesser dispite going from a menace holding a number of cards who claimed to love humans, to being proven to be a human with the introduction of his sisters, his very uncomplex backstory and generally getting dealt with by the series's most illusive gangsters.
Coherence could make things work, hopefully there's less going on next time and the ensemble cast can be dispersed out a bit better.
Tumblr media
Better luck next time Alastor

Tumblr media
All right, this scene is a contentious one to say the least.
I want to look at the elements that make up this part, starting from the very beginning.
After waking up in Gresit, Alucard had one goal:  Kill Dracula.  Throughout Season 2, he’s determined, he has points of dry, sarcastic humor, but as a whole, his personality is pretty grim.  He is absolutely unwavering in his determination.
Once Dracula was dead, though, he now has to live with the guilt of not only killing the father who loved and raised him but also the guilt over being unable to save his mother when she needed him.  When Lisa was taken, Alucard was traveling, and though he never explicitly says this, I would bet anything that ever since that night he has asked himself, “Why wasn’t I there?  What could I have done differently?  If I had done _______, she would be here right now and none of this would have ever happened.”  Alucard is a rational character.  He understands that what happened to Lisa was a cruel accident of fate.  She was accused of witchcraft, and he and his father were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.  They couldn’t have predicted her death, they couldn’t have changed it.
But this is how the Bargaining Stage of Grief plays out.  This is what sets him apart from Trevor and Sypha by the end of Season 2.  Between the three of them, Sypha still has her family waiting for her.  She still has her people and the optimism to still see the brighter future.  (Which is a trait she never fully loses.)  As for Trevor, he had already lost everyone he’d ever loved, and so he definitely already went through all the messy stages of grief to the point of sad acceptance that his family is dead and now he has to live with that.
Tumblr media
Alucard can’t identify with that kind of acceptance yet, for either of his parents. The grief is too raw, and so I believe his decision to remain behind while his companions left without him was a form of self-punishment.  In spite of the understanding it wasn’t his fault, he doesn’t believe he deserves to be happy after everything that happened.  Sure, he says he needs to protect the accumulation of his father’s knowledge, and while that might have been true, I feel like he had other options.  The show demonstrates that magic is capable of the impossible, so I feel like there should have been some kind of spell that could be engineered to keep his father’s/the Hold’s collection from being destroyed or looted.  If he asked Sypha and Trevor to stay and help him, I think they would have.  Instead, he watches them leave without asking them to visit or even expecting to see them ever again.  And we leave him finally breaking down over his losses.
All this to say he was not in a good headspace when Sumi and Taka showed up, which they picked up on and exploited to their advantage.  (The guy was talking to dolls he’d made to resemble his friends, and he was mimicking their voices in pseudo-conversation.  Funny conversations, yes, but damn, that coping mechanism…)
The first thing Alucard tells them is he ‘will not be hunted,’ but there is a disturbing irony here.
Attacking them indicates that his guard was up and he was ready to end lives if he had to.  Self-preservation is on point.  It’s Sumi and Taka who de-escalate the situation.  “We mean you no harm.  We came to ask you for help.”  They’re smiling and laughing by the end of this initial encounter.  They tell him their story.  “We’re these poor, innocent waifs from a distant land searching for a way to save our people.  Pity us.”  They present themselves as non-threatening, wide-eyed victims who only need help, which is a ruse he unfortunately falls for.
Tumblr media
“It’s time for your reward.”
It makes my skin crawl how despicable that one line of manipulation is.  This is the chink in Alucard’s armor:  the idea of guilt that persists after the mother he couldn’t save and the father he killed, especially the latter.  Understandably, although Alucard recognizes what he did was necessary, the fact he’s committed patricide is weighing on him.  There was Sypha’s words of comfort at the end of Season 2 that was it was ‘okay to love the man,’ but neither she or Trevor are around.  This leaves the opening for the toxic, false comfort of Sumi and Taka’s manipulation.  Here they are introducing the conflicting idea that what he did is worthy of praise.
Couple that with the factor that at this point, he’s only known them for a few days at most.  Obviously, that’s nowhere near long enough to establish an emotional connection that’s strong enough to say,  “Yes, I want to be with this person.”  But his silence is not consent; in fact, I see this as fear that if he does not go through with this like they want, it will make them leave him like Sypha and Trevor did.  Again, they are playing on that fatal loneliness.  Coercion.
Soft words, soft voices, and that is he what he needed to hear.
And Sumi and Taka knew exactly what to say.
Tumblr media
Back in their flashback about Cho, Sumi and Taka talk how they ‘studied’ her, studied the way she fought, and learned about her weaknesses for years.  This is the subtlest bit of foreshadowing I’ve found so far in the series.  It shows that Sumi and Taka don’t hunt vampires the way Trevor does.  They’re formidable fighters, yes, but they were not born and raised to hunt like the Belmonts were.  They don’t have that specific training or discipline, so they make up for it with deceit.  They ingratiate themselves with their prey, observing them and looking for the weak point.
Alucard said he would not be hunted.
But he was.
The entire time they were there, Sumi and Taka were studying him the way they studied Cho.  They saw Alucard’s loneliness and they took full advantage of the trust he gave them.  He invited them into his home, fed, and looked after them, he saw himself as their friend while the whole time they were looking for a way to kill him.  They were continuously asking about weapons, magic, off-limits rooms in the Castle, when the Castle could be fixed, etc.  They were trying to zero in on the ‘kill room’ where he would be at his most vulnerable.
Tumblr media
It’s hard to say how much of Sumi and Taka’s story was true given the outcome, but I’m inclined to believe it was but with one caveat.  I don’t think they helped their fellow prisoners escape.  I think they were the only survivors.  There’s no evidence of this other than the fact I think it’s suspicious that they left their friends behind to seek help.  Okay…Japan is a long way from Wallachia.  They couldn’t find anyone closer?  They didn’t try to smuggle more people away?  They don’t even mention their people in their angry ranting before they try to kill Alucard.
There’s also the brief line where they say they were given to Cho’s court as children.  It’s not clear whether or not their parents were forced to give them up as tribute to Cho, but that’s irrelevant if they themselves felt betrayed and abandoned by the people who should have loved and protected them.  There is the later line where they say everyone lies to them.  With that, I think they were so far in the fog of grief and anger that in their minds, they were unable to recognize Alucard could have been a genuine ally to them, and they only saw him as just another vampire who was evil and needed to be killed.
Tumblr media
The beauty and the tragedy of both Alucard and Lisa’s characters is that they are both so incredibly kind and selfless, and they want to believe in people.  Even when the Bishop’s henchmen came to her home, Lisa didn’t immediately jump to the conclusion of witchcraft and fear.  She asked if the Archbishop was ill and if they needed her help.  When they started tearing apart her home, she told them whatever they wanted she would give it to them.  She didn’t try to run.  She tried to explain calmly about her medical practice and that what she did helped people.  Her undoing was a man who meant her harm.
Lisa’s arrest is mirrored in the moments before Alucard kills Sumi and Taka.  Even though he realizes what’s happened and the situation he’s in, realizing they aren’t with him out of love and this was all a manipulation, a trap, and even rape——even though he realized all that, he still wanted to help them.
Right before they die, he is begging them to listen, that is their friend, and he can help them. The world is not against them.  These aren’t the words of a man trying to save himself.  He is living admirably up to the virtues he learned from his mother.  He waited until the last possible moment before choosing to save his own life over theirs. And his last line to them is, “I never lied to you.”
There’s no condoning what Sumi and Taka did to Alucard, that is an undeniably fucked up thing to do to a person and the plot accounted for it by killing off their characters.  However, I do feel these two are a testament to how anger and hatred will destroy a person and are a kind of foil to characters like Isaac. Isaac was horribly abused in his past and he had every reason to resent humanity, and yet by the end of his arc, he was beginning to let go of his anger and start a new life where he could be happy.  This is the lesson Isaac learns by the end of Season 3 whereas we leave Alucard again weeping alone with the memory of people he couldn’t save:  his mother and father and the two people he thought were his friends.  Again, he is grieving.  “I was a good friend to them, wasn’t I?  I helped them, didn’t I?  What did I do wrong?’
The answers are yes, yes, and no, he did nothing wrong.  Grieving is coming to terms with that.
Tumblr media
And finally, we have the gruesome way in which he ‘displays’ their bodies outside the Castle as a means to warn off other travelers or intruders.  Impalement was a very degrading means of execution.  It was excruciatingly slow, extremely painful, and those who faced this sentence would suffer for hours if not days in public.  You see the rage and humiliation he feels, and so by impaling the corpses, he in turn inflicted that humiliation on Sumi and Taka.  It’s probably as close to the ‘eye for an eye’ mentality as he gets.
A recurring theme throughout the series is innocence against the brutality of a cruel world.  Characters like Sypha, Alucard, and Lisa can give all the kindness they have to offer, but they can’t change the fact that people like the Judge and Bishop exist.  Characters like Trevor and Isaac lost their faith in humanity and found it again with the help of people like Sypha and the Ship Captain.  And characters like Dracula, Carmilla, and even Sumi and Taka, lost their way entirely and were swallowed up by their rage and pain.

HOTD IS ALREADY A VIOLENTLY ANTI BLACK SHOW BUT RACIST PIGS WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER BLACK GIRL SIDELINED IN FAVOR OF AN IRRELEVANT & UNINTERESTING WHITE NON-CHARACTER.
When Aegon III look at Jaehaera, her face, her eyes, I know he saw Aegon II’s face. With Jaehaera, he can’t escape him, he can’t escape his mother’s violent death, he isn’t allowed to think of anything else, he’s forced to revive his olympic trauma over and over again. But with Daenaera, it’s UTTERLY different.
Jaehera dying is the story coming full circle. A greedy and ambitious hand wanting to make his daughter queen started the war but now his line ended by another greedy and ambitious hand who wanted to make his daughter queen. The point is that the Greens didn’t get what they want in the end because someone, one of their supporters, had the exact same mindset as Otto. Karma got to them. The Greens started this entire war to get their blood on the throne and their last chance to get their victory is dashed by one of their own people doing the same thing to them, GRRM is a genius, it’s ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.
Y’all REFUSE to let Rhaenyra have some crubs, it’s so disgusting. The Greens already have their own victory, Aegon II is the one remembered as king and Rhaenyra as an usurper, but he must also have descendants (the Blackfyres I guess) who tries to usurp Rhaenyra’s descendants and grandsons who became kings ??? OUT OF QUESTION, LET IT GO. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
The Greens started this entire war to get their blood on the throne and their last chance to get their victory is dashed by one of their own people doing the same thing to them
Heavy on this, anon. In fact, let me go back an insert the part about Jaehaera being the green's last botched "chance".
Anon refers to this post I wrote from a person expressing why they thought Jaehaera's death was "narratively irrelevant". And why Daenaera can still be written in without marrying Aegon.
It's true Aegon the Elder is held as one of the kings in the line of monarchs while she is not. That is not bc she usurped Aegon, but because they wanted to discourage the idea and practice of naming women or girls as heirs altogether. It was about female rulership being made into the cause of disaster or conflict, not Rhaenyra necessarily!
I still don't think Rhaenyra is universally remembered as the/a usurper, because by their own vocabulary Rhaenyra can never be a usurper...she was declared heir by the monarch and held as the true heir for years. Gyldayn calls her "Queen" several times and unironically and out of the then-living people's perspective. To be a usurper, you need to violently or unlawfully seize power, which Rhaenyra never ever did. The greens did that.
Once again, Stannis is not a reliable source to judge history, because the man is a walking self-denier and nihilistic user of fear to get his way. In the actual novels, Rhaenyra is thought of a civil conflict more than the direct cause of one through usurpation and "usurpation" itself is never mentioned unless it's Stannis saying so. And yes, Arianne Martell had the right of it, even though she is also using history for her own claims...the difference is that her reading of history and Rhaenyra's position is correct.
The people who want things to be more "equal" or "balanced" bt the greens and the blacks or have the greens have a sort of victory like the blacks just sound really desperate. And for what? For patriarchy to reaffirm itself deeper than ever and more than if Rhaenyra had just been queen?🙄

Little character comparison chart I did
Ignore the initials on the pictures, I was comparing the characters to the MLP main 6.
Anyways, I made this a while back because I realized something...
Tumblr media
Doesn't the Savannah gang an the Crane Group seem familiar?
Character similarities: Maverick w/ Ashlyn- They are both the leaders, are 'mysterious' (Ash to friends. Maverick to us), both are standouts, independent, and have something 'strange' about them. (They are both also stylish but that isn't really important).
Thomas w/ Aiden- They both smile a good amount of the time, both are psychotic (You can't look me in the eyes and tell me Mr. Thomas isn't a lil silly after THAT smile in episode 64), keep a positive attitude (Ig), and not canon, but I feel like Thomas also enjoys thrills.
Jasmine w/ Taylor- I literally do not know how to describe this. They both are communicative ig, and loyal (?). Look, this one lays more on hc than what we see. What I'm trying to say is that Jasmine is practically the meaner version of Taylor.
Alex w/ Logan- C'mon, in EP 69 they were both playing chess. Alex is definitely a nerd in some ways. They're both smart, like playing logical games (chess for ex), definitely can observe a situation and figure out solutions to it. We don't know much about Alex yet, so that's all I can really pick at.
Ryan w/ Tyler- First appearances y'all. They're both hotheads, get angered easily, always pick at straws in the situation, get humbled real quick (haha ep 38 and when Ashlyn lashed out at Tyler), don't bother to think things through, will have respect for someone when necessary.
Blondie w/ Ben- I'm really digging at these straws for this one. This one really depends on the fact that they both have similar posture, facial structure (to a sense), and they walk similar. I've said this stuff in another post I've made before, so there is really nothing to defend my statement on this one.
I would have done a much longer version of this, but honestly, I have no brainpower currently, and I've already been keeping this draft for a bit now, so, yeah.
Hope my rambles make some sense.

I don’t know what made me draw myself to Matakara ever since BUCCHIGIRI?! was first revealed last year in May in the teaser other than cute sunshine puppy boi.
Tumblr media
But after watching many episodes esp the last one yesterday, I come to the conclusion that a lot of his recent actions, be it shown onscreen or subtle, reminded me of Princess Elise from Sonic 06 (yes that one game that drove the franchise to ruin but that’s not what we are talking about)
Tumblr media
I mean 16-17 year old teenage redheads who may appear mature at first glance but deep down, they’re not as mature as you think they are. Elise’s case is that she was forced to rule Soleanna at a very young age and while she is put together, she is also emotionally vulnerable such as when she had repeated visions of the bloodthirsty demon sealed within her kept showing her visions of Soleanna burned to the ground.
Tumblr media
Matakara is of the same vein as well.
Tumblr media
For a long time since visiting the Honki temple for the first time with his brother, Matakara has always sensed the dark shadows watching over him, which made him afraid. Mitsukuni said that the dark shadows appear because of how it sensed the weakness within people’s hearts. And well it is true in some sense in that despite being a pretty good fighter, Matakara is emotionally immature, possibly even stunted.
Right after his childhood best friend abandoned him to a group of older kids bullying them, Matakara believed himself to be weak and kept clinging on to the idealized version of Arajin, which the latter never asked for nor did he lied about. Even after showing off his true colors even back in earlier episodes, Matakara kept believing in him and it wasn’t until Episode 8 that Arajin confessed to him that he is not the cool and strong person Matakara believed him to be.
Tumblr media
This shatters Matakara’s worldview because right after his brother was taken from him to be placed in juvie for maybe 2-3 years, Matakara tried to build himself up and kept on believing that he has to do it for both Mitsukuni and Arajin’s sake. So to hear from Arajin about how the latter isn’t the strong and cool person that Matakara thinks he is, it proved to be devastating for Matakara.
Tumblr media
The way how both handled the inner demons within them (or Ichiya in the case of Matakara)
Princess Elise has been shown initially that whenever her emotions are about to go out of control, she is either shown to clasp her hands together to make sure she doesn’t cry lest she releases Iblis or just hug someone out of instinct.
Tumblr media
But over time, she stopped doing so to symbolize how her bond with Sonic has made Elise to handle her emotions better in a way that can confide it to the person closest to her. The only time it got out of hand is when the villain killed Sonic out of a sneak attack, that was when Elise started crying, which released Iblis.
Matakara is more of a 50/50. He has inner demons in the shadow that keeps appearing out of nowhere and how he is the only one to sense it. Those dark and creepy shadows tend to appear whenever Matakara is down on himself or if there is a weakness. But when he got into Minato Kai through pure hard work and the friends that he have made in Zabu and Komao. And that is when the shadows had stopped appearing for the time being, tho they did not disappear completely.
Tumblr media
However, I want to point out that unlike Elise who managed to keep her shit together despite not having any form of support group except for her servants, maids, possibly her tutors and ministers, she turned out for the better.
Matakara once he got Ichiya due to Akutaro’s manipulations (well maybe it could be Ichiya who knows really), Ichiya does whatever he can to break Matakara’s will and pointing out how things like friendship and kindness are nothing but weakness. The last straw was when Ichiya brought up on how weak willed Mitsukuni is and that is when Matakara succumbed to the anger and hatred that Ichiya has set up, making the blue majinn to take over him completely.
Tumblr media
Anyways TLDR; Princess Elise and Matakara are one and the same IMO, with the only differences on how they handle themselves and their emotional maturity.

These are the same in so many ways
Amity and Yasha: they both have magical cats. Both grew up in the world of magic. They both have family issues. They both are incredibly powerful for their age. Amity worked for the Villain then was persuaded over (hopefully Yasha has this same path) They are both gay for the adorable main character.
Luz and Barclay: both are new to the world of magic. They both are outsiders from where they came from. They did not fit in. They found families in the new world. both have a bad guy that is similar to them, and wants them to join him. *cough* Belos *cough* Audrian *cough* Both are bisexuals.
That’s all I can think of right now but I’m certain there are more similarities

Speaking on more characters that remind me of Our toymaker, this one shares a name with him.
****SPOILERS FOR THE DR. WHO SPECIAL, "THE GIGGLE"****
From his Wiki directly:
- "The Toymaker, also known as the Celestial Toymaker, was a powerful being who ensnared sentient beings in seemingly childish games, with their freedom as the stakes. However, the Toymaker hated to lose and the games were always rigged in his favour."
"• According to the Sixth Doctor, "nobody [knew]" who the Toymaker really was. He was said to be "old beyond imagining" and to predate "Time Lord records". The team of modern Gallifreyan researchers who later attempted to "chart his path through Time" gave up, bored of all the games he played with his own past. The Doctor speculated that they didn't try any harder than that because they couldn't find a way to control him.
Indeed, one account showed the Toymaker acknowledging different origins in conversation with Adric and with the Doctor, once even altering the details of his story mid-conversation.
The Toymaker had lived for "millions of years". He then seemed to bear his soul to the doctor, and told him that for the first few "thousands of millennia" he spent in the Doctor's universe, he used his powers to build and assist civilisations — creating "ships, continents, whole planets even". However, he eventually got bored, until only mindless destruction could give him any satisfaction at all; after an equal length of time spent destroying everything he had previously built up, he discovered games as his final and lasting distraction, as they allowed him to embrance nihilism without falling into inactive apathy, surrendering all to the whims of chance.
One source saw the Fourteenth Doctor describe the Toymaker as an "elemental force" with "the power of a god", and suggested that he originated outside the universe; he described the Toymaker's domain as "another realm, a hollow beneath the Under-Universe"."
"• Creating the Celestial Toyroom
According to the First Doctor, the Toymaker succeeded in creating a universe of his own, "entirely in his own vision" called the Celestial Toyroom, where he would "manipulate people and turn them into his playthings". The Toymaker and his games became "notorious throughout the universe" as he spread his influence to attract people into his world and try to make them part of it."
"- By then, the Toymaker had adopted a new appearance, a tall, blond-haired man who affected a variety of outfits and accents.
Running amok, the Toymaker played games with players across the universe, including the Guardians of Time and Space, whom he turned into voodoo dolls, and "God", whom he turned into a jack-in-the-box after gambling with Him. He would go on to claim to have "made a jigsaw out of [the Doctor's] history", a claim which shocked the Fourteenth Doctor.
The Master "begged for his life with one final game", but he lost, whereupon the Toymaker imprisoned him inside his gold tooth "for all eternity". The only person the Toymaker avoided playing against was an entity he called "the One Who Waits", claiming to have "seen it hiding" and simply run away."
"- The Toymaker settled on Earth due to believing it and humanity were the "ultimate playground". In 1925, he set up a toy store and manipulated events which resulted in one of his dolls, Stooky Bill, becoming the first image viewed on a television screen. He also trapped Charles Banerjee in his domain after the latter lost a game with him, turning him partially into a doll. The Toymaker animated and immortalised the sound of Stooky Bill's laugh to spread insanity in the 21st century, as by then technology and communication had reached a point where the giggle could be heard subliminally across all screens across the planet.
The Toymaker soon met the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble, luring them into his domain. He taunted the Doctor with the number of people who had died because of him over the years, which enraged the Doctor enough to challenge him to a game of Cut with his personal cards. The Toymaker won, however, he was stopped from claiming his prize when the Doctor pointed out that, as he had beaten the Toymaker once before, this only counted as one-all in a best of three match. The Toymaker then swiftly disappeared to 2023, crumpling his toyshop into a box, with the Doctor and Donna in hot pursuit.
The Toymaker arrived at UNIT HQ, entirely unthreatened by UNIT as he danced and lip-synced whilst slaughtering anybody who attempted to stop him."
"- Though "wily", he denied that he would cheat in his games, seeming genuinely offended by the suggestion. While the Fourteenth Doctor confirmed it was "the one thing he won't do" as "the rules of the game" were the only rules he would follow, the Toymaker would try to work outside the rules, such as trying to best the Doctor in a game of catch by throwing the ball without warning to catch the Doctor off-guard."
"- Within the Celestial Toyroom, the Toymaker commanded immense powers, but they were limited by the rules he or his opponents set for any particular game. The Fourteenth Doctor stated the Toymaker was bound by the rules, so much so that he could not cheat to win, even if he wanted to. He also had to follow new rules he brought into the game, even if the new rule did not gain him the result he was expecting, like how his desire to face the Fifteenth Doctor  accidentally meant he also had to face the Fourteenth Doctor at the same time. Although, he could bend these rules or "forget" to mention them to his opponents if he so chose, although he was not above cheating if his opponent did also; on one occasion, he tauntingly claimed that he was just following a "new rule" his opponent had unwitingly introduced by cheating."
Or how about his changes in appearance or fashion sense?
-"Appearance
In the form encountered by the Fourteenth Doctor, the Toymaker appeared as a blond man. He wore a number of different outfits based on his whims and the current situation. When first met in 2023 he wore a black top hat, tailcoat and trousers with an alabaster bow tie and waistcoat as well as a plain white shirt. His outfit in 1925 were made up of a caramel brown leather apron, a single-breasted waistcoat of plum and sapphire tartan with a fob watch, a white and ebony pinstripe shirt, tan trousers, and white and brown spectator shoes. He also wore a shako and frock coat in scarlet and ivory with gold trims, beige breeches and ebony black boots with crimson laces when he terrorized UNIT, and then a black leather jacket with a khaki uniform and an ivory scarf as well as goggles when he took control of the galvanic beam; both events in London during 2023."
Or the way he talks?
"This body is being sustained by him. Me. Whatever. Here, let me explain. I needed a body — sadly, my original one did not… suit this universe. Your friend's is the first I have come across that isn't enfeebled and prone to wearing out every seventy years. Mortality is such a burden, I find. This one could last a good thousand years, I should imagine. (…) I think there is a tiny spark of him somewhere inside me, acting as a cohesion to keep this frame together."
"I came to this universe with such delight. And I played them all, Doctor. I toyed with supernovas, turned galaxies into spin tops. I gambled with God and made him a jack-in-the-box."
"Do you like my puppets, Doctor? Do you like my fun? All of them have played and lost, but here's my favourite one." - THE TOYMAKER TAUNTING THE DOCTOR WITH A PUPPET THAT RESEMBLES HIM.
"You know full well this is merely a face concealing a vastness that will never cease, because your good and bad are nothing to me. All that exists is to win or lose."
"I have fallen in love with humanity. This world is the ultimate playground! All of the sport, the matches, the medals, the gambling, and the anger... And the children shackled to their bedrooms with their joysticks and their buttons. You make games out of bricks falling upon other bricks. You are exceptional! And then there are the mind-games, oh... the dating and ghosting, the deceit and the control, you make me dizzy! I am in no hurry to leave this place."
"I can not die. If this shop contracts into oblivion, do you know what would happen to me? Nothing. Nothing at all. A brief interlude of silence, and then I return. Different, perhaps, a new face, voice, personality, it all depends on how bored I am of this - the essence remains."
IS THIS NOT JASON THE TOYMAKER SPEAK? DOES HE NOT SPEAK LIKE THAT?
_______________________________
This yet again came up in reference to similar demeanors, and a musical number!
You really should watch this one if you haven't, it's so fucking entertainingly funny.

AND ITS NEIL PATRICK HARRIS.
Anyway.
From the way he acts there, The Toymaker already presents a similar style to one such as Jason.
And a similar, mocking, cocky personality.
I love it.
"There is order, and chaos… and there is play.”
~
Edit: This video is also very good on example of a serious demeanor for both The Celestial Toymaker and Jason. It's where some of the quotes in the post come from.
Have a look if you like.

ANOTHER EDIT: The opening scene to this episode is also, very Jason-esk. Uncanny, a bir eerie. Creepy, maybe? ;) I love the vibes. It also shows a bit of the toyshop, reminds me a LOT of Jason's own. Not to mention the way the Celestial Toymaker talks is very reminiscent to Jason, like I said.

Charlie vs Stolas
Leading character princess of reigning royalty, outshone by a supporting branch family prince, from the spinoff.
Their backgrounds
Charlie's is virtually unknown. Princess of hell who understands what's good and bad, she seemingly grew up with her parents but was distant from her dad for no particular reason, her mother has been absent for seven years and Charlie's age is unknown. Starting up her own business was no issue and keeping it running is not a problem, she's a princess and she can do what she wants. How old is she?
Tumblr media
Stolas was an innocent child who seemed to have been raised by underlings in his own palace. His parents are absent but his dad shows up to buy his affection before letting him know he is betrothed. He is in his mid 30s, a dad who is getting a divorce.
Tumblr media
Their characters and motives
Charlie is 'nice'. She is friendly enough and she wants to help. She is also clueless and immature at times, she knows as much as the audience and needs other characters to move the story along, the story not her story.
Tumblr media
Charlie HAD always wanted to see the best in the demons around her, she is also upset by the exterminations, so she set up her hotel to rehabilitate those of hell which would earn them an upgrade to heaven, hopefully.
Charlie now is picking up where her parents left off, voluntarily it seems. She hopes to show those of heaven that there are demons who could move to heaven, which now doesn't seem all that different from hell, those Charlie meets from heaven aren't great and what happens to a reformed sinner, do they become exterminators?
Stolas is shady, he is proper and professional publically but behind closed doors he has his fun his way with his target, when alone he is bored and lonely. Stolas appears to have existed in apathy once he lost his innocence, reserving energy for his superiors, the highlight of his life being his daughter he was made to have and Blitzø, his plaything he is catching feelings for.
Tumblr media
He seems to do some work and was born to serve a purpose. He enjoys scholarly things has kept grimoires since childhood, one being integral to the plot.
Their alternative forms
Charlie, after years of teasing we see what she turns into. That can't be it? We had seen Sara and Emily change their faces so it seemed possible that smaller and larger transformations existed.
Tumblr media
Though considering she went into war determent to fight, tragedy that was expected to happen was happening, but all we got was pretty sailor satan who couldn't get far without dragged her two pets Razzle and Dazzle along, who both could become something grand.
Tumblr media
Charlie's other form was so unspectacular, one of her pets paid the price for it.
Stolas, as I have said before, has a transformation that steps outside the artstyle, void of color apart from some outlines, it's so out of place is it that he steals any scene and I wonder what the thought process behind his look was, who come up with it and if it was from a time before the series underwent a tonal shift.
Tumblr media
Their relationships
Charlie has friends who all appear to be as good as on her payroll. She is bribing Angeldust into staying, this is the foundation of their friendship. Charlie runs a hotel, she's boss and landlord.
Charlie has parents and though she doesn't see much of them, their relationship seems fine.
Charlie has pets, they're cute, it's hard to understand if they're pets or servants? Charlie hardly interacts with them and I don't even know which one died.
Tumblr media
Charlie has a girlfriend, Vaggie, there is no chemistry, at all, nothing indicates that these two are particularly close in any way other than Vaggie reigning in Charlie's silliness, but she's not alone and Charlie is very silly. Charlie's goal of rehabilitating others doesn't seem all that interesting to Vaggie, she's often just the sighing sidekick who could be elsewhere. We are explicitly informed that they are girlfriends for the first time when Charlie introduces Vaggie as such to her dad, the scene was about what Charlie's dad had to say. Vaggie turned out to be an angel, Charlie didn't notice, the angel specific blood, the extermination occurring at the same time and the cross or X, Charlie helped, they liked what they saw and the two have been side by side since, Charlie may well be the cutest sugarmama ever.
Tumblr media
Stolas so far seems to have professional relations with those who hold some power.
Stolas is divorcing Stella, who he was forced to marry, who he didn't like and cheated on. The divorce is bitter and he comes to life bickering and forgetting all else.
Stolas appears still has imps around him as quiet servants who aren't treated well.
Tumblr media
Stolas is in a transactional situationship with Blitzø, someone he has held affection for since childhood back when he was an innocent child not yet tarnished with elitism, bitterness and frustration. He has separated Blitzø from all other imps, who he doesn't care for. His first thought upon seeing his childhood friend, who was in a compromising position, was not 'how are you?', 'where have you been', 'I've missed you, it was 'let's have passionate sex', this was following being humiliated by his wife at their anniversary 'not divorced' party, the fling he cornered Blitzø into what would be the springboard to get back at Stella.
Tumblr media
Stolas begins to see Blitzø as less of a plaything upon both of them being humiliated by his superior Ozzie and the occasion Blitzø helped him find his daughter, not that he had much choice. In acting upon his new outlook, he seeks to liberate Blitzø from their agreement with a solution where Blitzø, who held no power, doesn't lose out.
What we get
Content matters, good or bad actions are something that's better than nothing, even quantity over quality becomes welcome when the alternative is nothing.
Tumblr media
Charlie is simply there, in her own show free to look on as others achieve in her place. Charlie sees herself as down with the sinners, they're 'her people' and 'her family', she's not well known or respect her. Charlie is a fun girl like many default characters we would normally see as extras, little is her fault or her problem.
Stolas is regal, well known and respected, his newfound freedom bothers him but has allowed him to take some power back, unfortunately this is has been directed in a harmful way and it's entirely on him, his boredom and frustration have lead to his sweet and sour situation. Stolas is a true sympathetic villain.
