Concept art for my Megaman Summer Fanart 2022 entry, ‘Lutang".

The title is a Filipino word that means “float/floating/adrift.” Like a  lot of my other entries, it’s titled after a song, specifically, Ely Buendia/Itchyworms’ “Lutang”. The whole comic is straight up copied from the story of the song’s music video. The word itself is never said in the comic.

I was going to write that “this may be the most brainless entry I’ve ever tried to submit” but that’s not true. I was already following somebody’s plot and my only main direction was to put as many funny things as possible to make me laugh but trying to figure out the characters’ “Cast Away but Sexy” looks was a headache. Among the three entries, it was the most fun to work and think about it, but it was a lot of work. The main thing I remember was trying to draw Ballade with a shawl but I keep drawing it and it looked weird, so it was like whatever, no more shawl.

A very early concept that never made it past brainstorming was to feature Star Force 3’s Dealer organization. There were a lot of fun jokes I still laugh at when I think about them but as a whole it didn’t work with what I wanted. The only member who matters One member did make in the final draft.

Tundra’s weird look is. Actually, nobody probably noticed (because most of the comics are unfinished) but since each story takes place in another universe, each version of Tundra is supposed to look different as well. I think only a couple goes unmasked and they have pretty human faces with hair and stuff. I wanted to show at least with a more “robotic” face, “Lutang”s Tundra has absolutely no hair under that helmet, just smooth metal.  The one in Bounce Man’s story has white asymmetrical hair, which is an allusion to the most common Tundra hair canons (I usually draw Tundra with very short spiky dark hair), but packing an absolutely terrifying razor mouth. There was no natural way to show it in the story but that's the lore.

The look he sports in Lutang is a very specific allusion to one of my earliest Tundra headcanons. I just wanted to show it for the last "official" fanart entry so making it "canon". To no one else but me but a lot of my fanstuff is full of little ceremonies and rituals that's only meaningful to me anyway.

This took me a lot of time to draw and finish... Figuring out which character correspond to which phase, I have to redraw Yuika, Vic and Mick's sketches due to feeling dissatisfied with the pose/drawing, drawing Mayor Cain (Which as Only ONE official art)... Accidentally unifying the lineart with the coloring layer and having to redraw it over it in orden to add the remaining shading...

But it was worth it! My favorite one to draw is Dark Kirisaki, but I laugh at Mick's.

Edited: lmao i forgot to explain why there's some halo angel bs around her head. Aite so I decided to hc that all light users usually have this kind of halo around their head symbolising on what are they doing w their light magic. The halo's visibility are completely up to the user's strength. If the light magic user are strong, their halo are visible, and maybe even glowing. But if the user is a bit weak with the light magic, their halo wouldn't be showed much and glowed less (shit can be used as a flashlight fr). And bcs blade is THE IT GIRL, she having that halo GLOWING AND PROUD OF ITTT ofc this is just me adding some shi that I wanted to add just bcs I want to 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ (tbh I wanted to make Blade wear a full on knight armor I decided against it bcs the details and I don't have that much patience to understand how wearing armor looks and how each piece of the armor would look like in diff angles)
