Mundane Life
pure fluff with sirius black
(i cannot stress how fluffy this is, softest thing i've ever written)
“Okay baby, what colour would you like today?” his wolfish grin sends you into a frenzy, eyes dropping to the multitude of nail polish bottles in a box which his ring-clad hands had taken ahold of. A soft indie rock playlist played gently in the background, Tommy’s Party by Peach Pit having just started, the intro making a faint smile come onto his face as he jostles the box around, making the colours fly around too.
After you pick your favourite colour from the options, you hand it to him and place your hands palm-down on a cushion that he had placed down for you. These softer moments were always your favourite with him, where he’d be calm enough to be present and still with you, a small smile always on his face, his raspy voice softly singing along to the playlist he’d made for you, music being the easiest way for him to express his feelings for you. It frustrated him often, not being able to fully express his love for you. He just feels it bottled up inside, having no clue how to put the strong emotions into words, so he lets his favourite artists do it for him.
He grabs hold of the sleeves of your (read: his) jumper, rolling them up for better access to your hands, seeing as his sleeves drown your hands, making his job much harder. The simple, domestic action caused a blush to spread across your cheeks, something that happened often with how tender he always was with you. You don’t remember a time he’s ever raised his voice at you, knowing how much it hurts and never wanting to inflict that on you himself. He can’t ever begin to imagine using his touch in a harsh way with you, and he proves this to you every day with his forbearing touches, restrained squeeze on your hip, barely there hand on the dip of your back, guiding you through crowds, hand combing through your hair as he urges your head into his chest, bringing you the comfort of being surrounded by him and him alone, fully trusting him with your life.
As he gets started on your right hand, you get the opportunity to study his face, no walls up, no faking his happiness because he thinks he has to play this optimistic, funny caricature he’s created by accident. No, around you he can always be unapologetically, unequivocally himself.
As the next song plays (Darling by Christian Leave), he grabs your hand off of the cushion, torso moving down slightly to blow on the nails he had just painted, manoeuvring your hand with a gentility his other friends wouldn’t even think him capable of. Once he deemed his work acceptable, he placed a delicate kiss on your hand, before urging you to place your left hand down on the cushion for him to continue his work.
 “You look so pretty like this, Siri.” You weren’t wrong. Earlier on in the evening, he had let you take his hair back in one of your girliest clips, putting it up for him, even though his unruly curls rebelled, strands falling out the front to frame his face over time. He even had some makeup on left over from when he’d insisted you do it for him that morning, large hands pulling your thighs to sit on his lap so you could be close enough to him to do a thorough job.
He smiles a genuine smile, one he reserves for very few people, and caps the nail polish bottle to place a calloused hand on the side of your face, thumb caressing your cheek as he looks at you with so much love in his eyes. You could feel your breathing sync up, hearts intertwined and beating as one. The stillness in the room made a calming peace envelop the both of you, as if you were the only ones in the world.
You revelled in the fact that he could just hold you like this, you both just staring at each other with so much love and admiration for the other, so much trust in your relationship that even if any doubts were to ever overcome one of you, you’d know you could sort it out easily. The fact that you could both just sit with one another like this, not needing to kiss, not needing anything to be said, just knowing that you love each other and that was all that mattered. You knew you meant as much to him as he meant to you, having helped each other through everything you’d had to endure so far, and were bound to endure in the future.
“Cmon Pads, you’ve still got another hand to do” you said through a cheeky smile, one which had him laughing, so softly you’d almost mistaken it to only be meant for himself.
“Cmere, little minx” with that, he takes your left hand, being sure to give that one its respective kiss too before starting to paint again.
“Such soft hands”, it’s barely a whisper, the Great Sirius Black not being able to trust his voice enough in your presence, the effect you have on him being monstrous. It was no surprise to you that he liked your hands, the level of trust and comfort you’d achieved with each other not having come from secrets, after all. The main reason they were soft in the first place was because he was always smothering them in hand cream, a habit he’d picked up for himself from his years of guitar playing, which he was more than happy to pass onto you. He was always grabbing one of your hands to hold onto as you walked the streets, or even just laying together, fiddling with your fingers, placing his ring on your ring-finger, muttering to himself about ‘one day…’.
Once he’d finished his artwork, he grinned proudly at you, lopsided and true, straightening up to sit perched on his knees, grabbing at your hands to better show you his work. You couldn't help the smile that overtook you as he boasted about how good a job he'd done, leaning over his makeshift nail station to place a kiss to his hairline, where his hair met his forehead, saying that you thought they looked simply beautiful.
"Thank you darling, truly. My turn!"
i'm honestly super proud of this :) thank you so much for reading!!

Can you write All Might x fem reader who is rlly tiny compared to him. Maybe it unlocks a new feeling in him
Toshinori with a short s/o
Content: Fem or Gn reader, No pronouns used (I think), Toshi is a worried old man, implied mention of food, completely SFW
A/N: I'm very sorry if you were hoping for NSFW content, but I only write SFW stuff. Also I'm 5'8 so things may be inaccurate...
Tumblr media
He really doesn’t mind your height, he’s used to towering over pretty much everyone. He’ll help you reach things on the top shelves, or just places you can’t reach.  He knows not to underestimate you though.  You can hold your own, and he knows that very well. You both accommodate for the other's heights in different ways.  Even without realizing it. He tends to leave things down or where you can easily get to them. And you tend to put his things where he doesn’t have to bend over too much. He is old… Some people are confused because they don’t understand why you would date each other with such a height difference.  He does worry about you though, he worries that someone might think you’re more vulnerable because of your height.  And double worried because there were probably many people who would want to use you against him.  He does try to keep his personal life private, but it can be difficult at times.  At times he does get protective of you, but please tell him he is.  He’ll feel really bad, and he’ll apologize.  He knows you’re capable of taking care of yourself, but he worries.  But he really enjoys simple activities with you. Playing board games, baking together, anything really.  If you suggest it, he’s most likely willing to try it. But he loves cuddling up on the couch with you and watching movies. He loves the way he can hold you. It makes him feel like he can protect you from anything, and in turn, it makes him feel safe. Your bodies fit together like puzzle pieces, and it makes him melt every time you snuggle up to him. He falls asleep easily, so chances are you'll both be sleeping there for the night.

The Little Batgirl (Yandere Platonic Batfam x Child Reader)
Tumblr media
Prologue - Adoption Day
Warning: Yandere Themes (mentioned)
*New yandere platonic series, yay*
Bruce got out of his car and went into the orphanage he had planned to visit.
Today, he was actually planning to adopt a child who could be his next sidekick since the others sort of "retired".
When he goes in, he is met by the orphanage owner.
They greeted each other before they looked for the perfect child for Bruce to adopt.
Each child Bruce passed by, and they were not the kind to have the position to be his sidekick.
That's when the owner takes him into a room that shows a young girl with (h/c) colored hair and a pair of (e/c) colored eyes with (s/c) colored skin.
She was wearing a plain white dress as she was holding onto her lavender colored bat stuffed animal plush.
She was staring at both Bruce and the orphanage owner.
Tumblr media
(This is how I kinda imagined of reader to be in this story, but you can come up with her appearance since she's basically you. Also, please DO NOT steal my art, thank you.)
"Who is this young lady?" Bruce asks with his eyebrow lifted as he stares at her.
"This young lady is Y/N. She came here alone with nobody by her side other than that bat doll about a few years ago. She was in terrible state at that time, so I decided to take her in," the owner tells him.
"For what I remembered, she read the dictionary in her bedroom over fifty times. So, when I quizzed her, she didn't hesitate to answer all the questions and got them all corrected."
That information caught Bruce's attention as he continues to stare at the young girl who is now in front of him.
"How exactly?" He asks.
The owner took out a piece of newspaper and hands it to the girl.
The piece shows a crossword puzzle that a grown adult would have struggled solving it.
Y/N sat on her chair before she takes out a pencil and begins to do the crossword puzzle.
After thirty seconds, the girl shows both the owner and Bruce the now completed puzzle that every word was written down correctly.
Bruce seemed impressed by the girl's talent and turns to the owner who stares at him back.
"Well, what do you think of her?" The owner asks him who was in thought.
Then, Bruce takes out his pen and turns to the owner.
"Bring in the paperworks."
~~~~~
After the paperwork was filled in, Y/N is now going to have a new life.
She comes out of the building with her suitcase that has all of belongings as she carries her bat plush.
Y/N also changed her outfit as well into a pink turtleneck shirt and a red skirt along with some white tights and a pair of red Mary Jane shoes.
She was walking up to Bruce and stares up at him.
Bruce was in thought as he stares down at Y/N.
She is a very smart girl, but was she really capable of fighting?
It's not that she looks or is very weak, it's just that she looks like she could get hurt very easily.
He should have a discussion with the others about this once he comes back to the manor.
They were staring at one another before Bruce kneels down to her level and pats her head.
"You don't have to worry. You're going to be safe living with me and your new family," he tells her with a soft smile on his face which is pretty rare to see.
Bruce brings Y/N into his car and shuts the passenger doors once she was in.
Y/N looks through the car window to see some kids from the orphanage, waving to her goodbye with encouraging smiles.
He then takes out his phone and dials a number before the other line picked up.
"Alfred, get the room ready for our new member of the batfamily. Make sure nobody goes in it until the member comes in."
I really like the idea of yandere TMNT 2012 Leo vs Raph concept. Not only do they fight all the time, but add a darling to the list and it's just non stop fights all the time
Very true! I'll just spill my thoughts into this so sorry if it seems incoherent.
Yandere! 2012! Leonardo vs Yandere! 2012! Raphael
Pairing: Romantic/Platonic - Rivalry
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Stalking, Violence, Anger issues, Jealousy, Manipulation, Possessive behavior, Protective behavior, Isolation, Kidnapping mentioned at times, Murder/Murder attempts mentioned, Dubious companionship, Blood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel both platonic and romantic intentions would cause tension between the two.
The two already fight for various reasons as is, yet they do care for each other.
Leonardo is the leader and often is shown the most attention because of that, which Raph is envious of in earlier seasons.
I actually feel the reason of this rivalry would be the fact Raphael is envious his brother can appeal to you so easily.
Raphael has anger problems to the point he's destructive to those around him, even if he doesn't mean it.
However I don't want people to think he's only violence.
2012 Raphael may be one of the more violent versions of the character, but he does love his darling.
When in a good mood he does like to hold you close and utilize his darling for comfort.
He'd be more likely to be softer when Spike becomes Slash and leaves.
He resorts to his darling for comfort and gets frustrated at the idea of losing you.
It also tends to make him treat you like a pet.
Leonardo is a yandere who tends to be the same rather than change like Raph.
While Raph tends to be a violent possessive yandere that has his moments as softer yandere, Leonardo is usually always a protective and sometimes suffocating yandere.
I feel the fighting between the two can range from sibling spats to violent duels.
It just depends on how worked up they are.
I feel it doesn't matter who you meet first in this case.
Raphael would be envious that Leonardo gets along with you either way.
Raphael likes to have you as his and his alone.
Even if he has to fight for it.
Leonardo is similar except he views it in the more protective sense, you're his because he feels he's the most capable of keeping you safe.
Their motives are another reason they argue.
Raph always complains that Leonardo is trying to steal you from him or something.
Meanwhile Leonardo thinks Raphael is incapable of protecting you due to how reckless he is.
Their rivalry is much different than their 2018 counterparts.
2018 Leo and Raph mostly are physically affectionate and keep fighting rather sibling-like for the most part.
2012 Leo and Raph don't mind fighting until the other bleeds over you due to jealousy, or at least Raph doesn't.
In terms of who's most affectionate there's no doubt it's Leonardo.
Leonardo is softer and very caring, often locking you away due to paranoia instead of possession.
Although the line between possession and protection are rather thin with him.
Raphael would be the type to lock you away in his room just to keep you away from others like Leo.
Not really for protection, mostly so he has you to himself.
It's obvious Raphael doesn't like the idea of sharing with others.
Leonardo is okay somewhat with you talking to others but often tries to redirect your attention instead of attacking them.
Them fighting can be brutal or tame.
Anything from a verbal argument/threats to them ending up covered in blood from the other.
Any fight they have puts you off and scares you.
Both yanderes are capable of kidnapping.
Raphael resorts to violence/murder more often than Leo.
Leonardo only resorts to violence if he feels it'll protect you.
You are right that it would be hard to have them work together if they are so upset about their darling issue.
It's happened in the past the the two would fight for authority or attention to the point it hurts the team.
How they get over you is probably the worst due to the fact they are never going to agree.
I don't even think they have to slander each other.
Raph's violent nature is enough for Leonardo to try and convince you Raph is an issue.
While Raphael tends to ignore manipulation unless it's threats.
He can just take what he wants.
They are both violent because they fear losing you.
Raphael just so happens to have an issue controlling such anger.
In terms of killing each other, Raph may attempt it but Leonardo tries not to.
They do still care for each other even if they don't agree when it comes to you.
Darling would frequently be given the role of mediator between the two.
That's probably the only way to stop their fighting momentarily, Donatello and Michelangelo may try to help too.p
They both try to brainwash you once they get you alone.
You'd be more prone to believe Leo even if he's almost just as bad.
Leo would never try to hurt you...
Raph would if he lost his cool or felt you deserved it somehow even though he loves you.
They both are pretty bad and destructive in their own ways.
I can see them setting up a final fight to settle things if it came to you.
It may end in bloodshed... it may even end with one of them dead...
But they'd do anything for you, right?
I imagine Galacta Knight being bad-tempered and lashes out easily.
I mean... to be honest, considering what he's been going through, how couldn't he be bad-tempered? His life sucks. Being trapped in crystal for long periods of time can't be fun at all. Doesn't help at all that I interpret he's conscious during it, which just adds on to the misery.
And the only recent interactions he has with other people is when they summon him for a fight. Like he's literally just being used for people's entertainment. To let people be enriched by fighting him.
If I was trapped for a long time and only interacted with people via them picking a fight with me, I'd be bad-tempered and snappy too.
I'd imagine that he's really traumatized for being trapped for so long. It'd only make sense. I feel bad for Galacta Knight. He's been treated inhumanely for so long, there's no way it wouldn't mess him up.
In my personal interpretation, Galacta Knight wouldn't be friends with Meta Knight. I usually don't factor in extra mode content in my verse, but I do interpret the event of Meta Knight summoning and fighting Galacta Knight as something that happens in my verse.
And that's precisely the reason why they wouldn't be friends in my verse. Galacta Knight does not like Meta Knight for having the audacity to summon him, pick a fight, and then leave after winning. Truthfully, he holds a grudge about it. I think they'd fight every single time they encounter each other. Meta Knight loves to fight anyways, so I'm sure he wouldn't be bothered by Galacta Knight picking a fight with him out of anger and frustration for what been happened to him.
I actually don't interpret any of the four major knight characters getting along. In my opinion, Meta Knight and Dark Meta Knight would still pick fights with each other most times they encounter. I also imagine Galacta Knight and Dark Meta Knight fighting. Although I could maybe see them trucing a bit over their mutual distaste for Meta Knight, but I feel like they'd mostly fight anyways because they're both standoffish and ill-tempered people that lash out easily. And I, of course, do not imagine Morpho Knight being friends with any of the other three major knights because I generally do not see the grim reaper being exactly friends with anyone LOL.
That being said, I could definitely see Galacta Knight being friends with Kirby. Mainly because Kirby is easily capable of being anyone's friend. Although it might take some time in Galacta Knight's case because I like to think he's (understandably) grumpy and irritable over being trapped in crystal for so long, but Kirby is a compassionate little guy that's sad about people being hurt, so he'd be giving some support. He'd give Galacta Knight a hugely needed hug because that's a very Kirby thing to do when he goes to establish a friendship.
... Imagine Kirby stopping Meta and Galacta from fighting, lol.
Can you tell me why you like Lan Xichen, if that doesn't bother you?
I know why the fandom at large like him, but I disagree very hard with the "N°1 Wangxian shipper, best wingman, the only person in this cast that has eyes" thing they've got going on because all of this is directly contradicted by canon, and I'm just not a fan of blissfully ignorant characters that are fine with staying blind to the faults of others depending on how convenient it is for them.
I may be exaggerating a bit, but his "You were his only mistake" speech while advocating and protecting and giving the benefit of the doubt to Jin Guangyao made me a little bit salty, and the implications as to how he participated/supported the siege and Lan Wangji's punishment didn't really help.
I usually enjoy your takes and often agree with you, so I figured I'd ask, maybe you'd provide some insight in his character that I missed?
Hello anon,
I think part of this does simply come down to personally what type of person I myself am able to tolerate and want to see the potential of capability and being better. I do agree on with Wei Wuxian as he observes Lan Xichen's faith in Jin Guangyao, is that he unlike him was able to interact with memories of Nie Mingjue and the only reason he himself was able to believe that Jin Guangyao wasn't what he presented as. Lan Xichen isn't presented as a character to despise even in his ignorance which yes, is a factor of his one comfortable position, yet he is a kind simple man.
Simple kind men, are not meant to be politicians and should not be as they are easily manipulated. Yet the people that Wei Wuxian commends and listens to are simple, kind people. He understands very well where Lan Xichen himself comes from as a party close to Jin Guangyao and as an outside party to Wei Wuxian. They don't know each other, Wei Wuxian also is not a grudge holding person for slights against himself because they are wrong. Why would he himself care for what is not true? He knows who and what he is, whether it's liked by outsiders or not. He knows how to work with either reaction and is not sensitive to what is said about him, he also doesn't need others to take up that mantel in his stead, what he appreciates is those that trust in him as he is to support that.
Wei Wuxian also understands the casual misunderstandings perpetuated, some of which he did continue once he came back and hid for a time as Mo Xuanyu. He didn't think his unconscious love from when he was you g would reawaken, he WAS fucking around to disgust Lan Wangji to abandon him. He did not expect Lan Wangji to be caring and as loving as he was because the man hadn't so openly been anything like that in their youth.
Lan Xichen had the privilege of knowing this about Lan Wangji, hence his protectiveness and assumptions. While Wei Wuxian did not. It's a case of great misunderstanding on part of what Lan Xichen knew against what Wei Wuxian knows. As the audience we DO have a greater privilege than either of them because we get insights into both's actions and thoughts the other has no idea of. They are outside observers of the other.
Do I think Lan Xichen held a grudge towards Wei Wuxian either? No, but he was weary of Wei Wuxian's intentions to his brother given the outside view he had of them. Subconsciously yes we see that Wei Wuxian greatly loves Lan Wangji, but that is not apparent for Lan Xichen given the history he had seen. He had at one point thought a friendship with Wei Wuxian would be good for Lan Wangji who didn't ever seek companions, yet the only thing he was seeing and told was the hurt and struggle Lan Wangji struggled with. He had no investment or friendship with Wei Wuxian to think of other context.
Wei Wuxian also gets this, it is why he is terrified of the potential hurt Lan Wangji had been put through unintentionally because of himself and the assumptions of outsiders as well that influenced both of their hesitance to be open of their growing feelings, trust and love.
We all want to think of the best in those close to us. Wei Wuxian understands how that becomes so natural to the point of blinding yourself to the worst. It is what he did when it came to Jiang Cheng who continued to escalate his hate and actions towards Wei Wuxian who gave Jiang Cheng the benefit of doubt until he no longer could. And it is what Lan Xichen is faced with when it comes to the whole of Jin Guangyao's crimes exposed. Wei Wuxian was the perpetual stain and hurt for Jiang Cheng and did take the blame Jiang Cheng put upon him while reasoning with himself that Jiang Cheng had such a right and what good would it do for him to complain.
Lan Xichen trapped himself in the blindness of wanting Jin Guangyao to be reasonable in his choices in a very unfair world that condemned his class. He did know that Lan Wangji loved Wei Wuxian, he was weary of that love due to not knowing the whole. And why at the end he is disgusted, horrified, hurt in his own self snd yes embarrassed with his stubborn assumptions and blindness. He is not proud of that and what he is torn up over at the end. It's not the great tragic friendship he supposedly lost, it is his own stubbornness and ignorance he let overcome him and what he allowed to go on for too long. He is forced to see his one sided idea of Wei Wuxian was wrong, he has no hate over that, he to a point had seen Wei Wuxian as an influence for Lan Wangji to open up, yet lost his own faith in that due to his assumed biases.
He to a fault is coddling to the point of it being offensively infantilizing to Lan Wangji. Wei Wuxian understands the why of this and also is completely logical in understanding as to why Lan Xixchen thinks as such. He thinks Lan Xichen is a good man, because he is, whether we the audience like it or not in the logic of their world Wei Wuxian understands the mechanism of Lan Wangji's punishment as well and the cruelty it was for the society they are stuck in that is slow to change. Simple kind men are not made to be in a world of intricacy and conspiracy because it is more complicated than they know. Good intentions and offer of protection is dangerous when you have not been exposed to cruelty that can personally hurt you and take advantage of you when you are ignorant to the extent of the backlash.
I think this is also why Wei Wuxian in the end does respect Lan Xichen he had been there as well. He can't condemn something that he had been a part of at one point and had been taken advantage himself by multiple others.
some redacted soul eater au stuff :]
(from now on, all au things regarding this will have the tag: #redacted soul eater au !)
it’s far from complete in terms of how i want each character to work, but i thought i’d share my concepts for how each ‘species’ / empowerment (that we’re familiar with) works.
also! in-universe i like to think werewolves, vampires, all the rest still have their abilities, it’s just considered a primary or secondary factor to their weapon/meister status.
THIS IS LONG. everything under the cut!
werewolves — usually weapons. if they’re meisters, they’re very in-tune with their soul, and can use wavelength control pretty well (usually as melee attacks- something where one utilises their wavelength and pulses it against someone, creating force).
werewolves fit best as weapons because shifting comes naturally. they can go in and out of weapon form much swifter than other weapons, being quicker than non-werewolf weapons.
werewolf souls are identifiable. a person who can see souls/use soul perception (usually always meisters) can tell if someone’s a werewolf when seeing their soul.
vampires — kinda tricky. they have stronger wavelengths and are almost impossible to match with if you aren’t a vampire (it IS possible… just difficult as hell). vampire souls are a unique sort of soul, since they’re technically dead but continue living. their soul falls under a weird purgatory state.
if someone consumes a vampire soul, they’ll become a vampire themselves. this causes a lot of people to avoid hunting vampire-type kishin souls (vampire souls that have consumed so many human souls they became a kishin, a creature that is capable of horrible power and tries destroying/eating everything around them).
vampire weapons tend to be heavier, stronger, and all around sturdy. this links back to how usually other vampires wield vampire weapons.
note: vampires (or, in the soul eater universe, ‘bloodsuckers’) exist in soul eater, but because their way of life and abilities are different from redactedverse, i chose not to use them.
demons — demons fall into two categories, always. i’ll use gavin and caelum as an example. demons can either be ‘demon weapons’, or ‘monster souls’.
gavin is a demon weapon, able to change his weapon form at will (unlike other weapons that hold one form).
caelum has a monster soul, meaning he has unique powers and characteristics. monster souls can be, but aren’t always, malevolent. this means caelum is pretty much the same as he is in canon, but has an easier time using transformation magic (see: blair, a cat monster, who can transform into a human form).
demons are never meisters. i play into the fact that demons ‘need’ to feed from humans, and paired with it, they need them as meisters, too. a demon cannot wield another demon.
demon souls are also much bigger than human souls, signifying their power and inhumanity.
freelancers — freelancers have souls and wavelengths that are easily compatible. it doesn't really matter on whether the freelancer is a humanborn or not. depending on what element or magic the freelancer is most proficient in, during soul resonance (explained below at elementals) that magic will be prevelant.
elementals — elementals tend to have rather significant souls. weaker meisters who use soul perception can see them rather clearly. their soul takes on the form of their dominant element (for example, damien’s soul appears ablaze).
elementals, when using ‘soul resonance’ (an ability that, when used by both weapon and meister, amplifies ability and strength) often show their element. for example, if freelancer used lasko during soul resonance, air would be part of their attacks.
seers — seers can see souls easily (soul perception). it comes with being a seer. this means, typically, all seers are meisters.
seer obscura see souls practically all the time. the obscurity, though, makes it so that seer obscuras cannot be compatible with any meister or weapon in wavelength.
telepaths — pretty simple, telepaths can use their telepathic ability whilst them or their partner are in weapon form. it doesn’t change. i also like to think telepaths have pretty defined souls, meaning that as long as someone has an in-tact soul, it’s easy to meet their wavelength.
stealths — also pretty simple. if they’re a weapon, they can turn invisible/intangible whilst in weapon form.
i’ve made sweetheart a meister for weapon milo, but this is pretty cool to me anyway, because imagine them wielding him whilst invisible themselves? a floating weapon coming at you … woa
humanborn/magicborn nonsense — humanborns have weaker but more compatible souls. magicborns are the opposite, having stronger but less compatible souls. magicborns are stereotyped to seek humanborns as their weapon/meister partner.
empowered types that have no difference when it comes to weapon/meister ability (or other):
• dreamwalkers
• energetics (work the same as elementals!)
• any other empowered types we haven’t seen enough of for me to gather an opinion of (illusory/warders/etc)
deathwalkers are something i’m still trying to work on … tempted to have it so that they have a fraction of lord death, the reaper’s, soul within their own, or if they should have a lack of soul overall, but maybe someone can help me in terms of that? ^^ idkidk
that’s all for species types ! hopefully it makes sense. if not, feel free to ask about it !
Time to screech about Sonic Prime S3E1
Alrighty. Having taken a while to screech about the first episode to myself...now I’m gonna screech about it here LOL I’ve got a LOT I could say about it, soooo here goes. Enjoy my random musings and mostly just me reiterating what happened in the episode lmao
Starting off with Nine. He says that the Grim could have been everything Sonic ever wanted. He and Sonic have the tendency to talk past each other in a way, and they were both inadvertantly using each other. Neither is entirely in the right OR wrong here (which I will absolutely go into more depth about).
Gotta take a second to talk about the fortress Nine creates. I absolutely love the symbolism of it (well, what I’m choosing to take as symbolism, anyhoo). He could very easily have just created a simple lab for himself, like he used to have (and like Tails had), but he didn’t. He created a giant, elaborate fortress. Why? Well, for the obvious reason of “someone might come after me, I need protection”, but I like to think there’s more than that. It’s about power (this will also get brought up again). Nine is more than capable of protecting himself, which is how he has managed to survive for so long on his own. But now? It’s not just about protecting himself. It’s about showing that he can protect himself. It’s a physical manifestation of everything he has had to hold inside for his entire life. All of the mental strength he has, all for the world (or lack thereof, as the case may be) to see. He doesn’t have to hide anymore, and he wants everyone to know.
Then we switch over to the two hedgies, and oh boy is there a lot to talk about here.
It hurts seeing Sonic so lost and confused as to why Nine would have left, “betraying” him in the process. Seeing it from Sonic’s point of view, he doesn’t understand why Nine would want to leave behind what he believed would be the perfect chance to make everything right. Despite being told all the way back in season 1 that Nine wanted to start “our new life” over in the Grim, Sonic failed to see how much the idea of them staying together meant to Nine, as just the two of them. He doesn’t see how much he hurt Nine by not seeing him as his own person. No matter how much he tried to deny it, he was somewhat using Nine as a stand-in for Tails. Do I believe Sonic was being malicious and purposefully stringing Nine along? No. Of course not. That’s not in Sonic’s nature. He was just desperate to have his friends back, and failed to realize how much his words and actions were hurting Nine. Which of course is still wrong and something he needs to realize and understand.
And then there’s Shadow. While many people headcanoned that Shadow would just up and punch Sonic the moment he stepped foot inside the cave, I was pleasantly surprised that he did not. Granted, it was because their lives were literally on the line, but still. Shadow took one moment to say “I toldya so”, and left it at that, prioritizing their escape. He didn’t constantly berate Sonic as they were running, either. The insane amount of character growth that shows just makes me so happy.
And can we just talk about the escape scene? (both parts LOL but in due time). The way they both looked out for each other as they ran, and the fact that Shadow risked falling behind to make sure that Sonic made it to the ground safely??? I just...golly I can’t screech about that enough. (Also this brief frame of Shadow going from being on guard to being annoyed about Sonic’s rough landing is absolutely hilarious and it will live rent-free in my head...forever.)
Tumblr media
The ghost scene. Shadow doesn’t berate Sonic for stopping, he’s calm and even tries to reach out to Sonic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He understands how much it hurts Sonic to see the illusions, a major turnaround from how he acted in season 2 (granted, Shadow had more time to come to terms with the ghosts, seeing as how he had been in and out of Ghost Hill before, but I digress.). He does try to get Sonic to move on, but in the end gives him his chance to grieve and reflect, which Sonic has not had a chance to properly do this entire time. I love how caring Shadow is in this moment. (Also SEGA LET SHADOW SAY “OUR FRIENDS” YOU COWARDS! ROUGE IS SHADOW’S FRIEND, DAMNIT).
And Sonic. How he had gone from hopeful in season 2 that he could save them because he had all the shards, to now being emotionally scarred by the idea of not being able to fix it if they can’t get the shards back from Nine...and watching literal manifestations of specters of your friends being drawn into oblivion...damn it hurts. But I’m glad he was able to snap out of it enough to follow Shadow out.
Escape pt 2: Hedgie Boogaloo. These two are so in sync, they barely have to exchange any words at all, they know exactly what the other is going to be doing, and I love it. I mean, look at this.
Tumblr media
Shadow reaching out his hand and Sonic instinctually grabbing it to pull each other forward? Hell yeah!!! And here, all it takes is one glance and they both had the same exact plan. I cannot get over how much I love seeing Sonic and Shadow work together like this.
Tumblr media
Nine making his own Metal Sonic. This means soooo much. Nine feels like Sonic betrayed him, but he can’t bring himself to entirely give up the idea of having Sonic by his side. The solution? Create a robotic version, of course. But also, the tiny bit of malicious tone when Nine says “Hello...friend” just gave me the shivers, I love it.
“If there’s anything knowing you has taught me, it’s that there’s always another way”. This line made me screech out loud, I love it so much. Shadow being willing to admit that Sonic not only taught him something, but that Sonic taught him to think outside the box, that things could have more than one solution, that there’s no such thing as giving up. I was grinning like an idiot at this, because yay character development!!!
(ALSO fduoghdfoighdf my grumpy baby being annoyed I can’t oh my golly look how adorable gahhhhh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ALSO THEY BOTH GET TO ENTER ANOTHER SHATTERSPACE TOGETHER WOOOHOOO!!!!
It was all about power (remember that earlier? XD). In a way, Shadow knows what Nine is feeling. Feeling like the entire world has betrayed you, and having the chance to get back at them? Sound familiar? Granted they went about it two different ways (Shadow trying to destroy everything vs Nine trying to literally create a new world, to an extent), but they both went off the deep end when offered a chance at an ultimate power. Neither one cared what was happening around them, all that mattered was that they got what they wanted. But of course Shadow won’t admit to seeing himself in Nine’s actions, instead opting to just be like “OK yeah this kid is a menace, gotta destroy him”. Do I wish Shadow would be more willing to give Nine a chance? Absolutely. Is he going to? Probably not, that’s more Sonic’s shtick.
Was Sonic in the wrong for wanting to get his friends back? Nope, not in the slightest. That’s what he wanted all along. He spent so long trying to do that, after all. Was he wrong in seeing Nine as a stand-in for Tails? Absolutely. Again, he may not see it that way, but both his actions and words make it clear that he at the very least had a hard time seeing Nine as his own person. Even now, with the words “this isn’t you, Nine”, shows that Sonic doesn’t truly know Nine, because yes, this is Nine. Has been from the very beginning. A broken, distrustful, lost child who just wants a home and safety, friends or no friends.
As for Nine? Was he wrong for wanting safety and a home? Of course not. Everybody deserves safety and a home. Is he wrong for not caring what happens to New Yoke? Ehh...thin ice there. Wrong for not caring what happens to any Shatterspace? Yeah, there the line is crossed. At least in Ghost Hill there wasn’t any living beings (sure, the ghosts/illusions were there, but keyword there is living), but what about the others? Nine could end up having the lives of entire universes on his hands, even his own if he’s not careful.
Grim Sonic. And the fight against Grim Sonic. Have I ever mentioned how much I love seeing these two work in sync? Just that one little nod, and off they both go. It’s such a treat to see, and I will never stop loving it.
(Also Nine just casually making a robotic copy of Birdie is hilarious to me. Like, “Yeah, I made copies of Sonic’s friends, but also the bird is cool, so I just copied her too ‘cause why not?”)
“At least I can trust them!”. Nine is willing to spend his entire life with just robots for friends, and why? Because he can program them however he wants, to be whoever he wants. Nine is eerily similar to the original Eggman in that regard. He’s done with dealing with people, because people are inferior and betray you. Robots can be reprogrammed if anything goes wrong (Sonic Heroes, anyone?). Part of me is curious to see just how close to Eggman that Nine will end up becoming.
Talking about rebuilding the prism. This whole scene. What takes literally the span of just a few seconds, says so much, without even using a single word. Sure, Nine said he would need one missing thing, but after that? It’s all spoken through body language. Nine looks down to Sonic’s hands and shoes. It’s subtle, but he’s trying to show Sonic what he means.
Tumblr media
Of course, Sonic doesn’t figure it out, he doesn’t see where Nine is looking. but you know who does? That’s right. Shadow. His face says it all. He doesn’t even have to say “I know what you’re up to”, it’s entirely unspoken, and I love that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Nine? He responds in kind. Look at this.
Tumblr media
It’s a challenge. “Oh, you think you have me figured out? Then try to stop me”. Again, no words need to be said. He’s calm, confident, smug even. He thinks he has Sonic and Shadow right where he wants them. He doesn’t see any way that they’ll win, and he, again, wants them to know it.
But he didn’t account for how ready Shadow is for war.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being entirely willing to take on all the Grim robots in order to keep Sonic safe? Sure, it’s for the good of the entire universe, but also because as much as he doesn’t say it, he cares. I mean, listen to what he says as he’s carrying Sonic away. He doesn’t say “This is to save the universe” or “we’re all dead if he catches you”, he says “this is for your own good”. Someone who doesn’t care wouldn’t say that. He’s getting so much good characterization in just this one episode alone, and I hope it keeps up, even if he ends up being seen in small amounts (I swear if he only appears in the finale I will cry).
Aaaand yeah. That’s the end of the episode. I honestly can’t wait to see what happens when the rest of the season drops. I am soooo not ready for it to end, but I’m excited to see how it ends.
TL;DR I screeched like crazy about how much I love this episode LOL
We got zoro and nami gay lesbian solidarity, so sanji and vivi bisexual pansexual solidarity when
Serving it right now 🫡🫡🫡🫡
Sanji and Vivi bisexual / pansexual solidarity:
Grew up thinking they liked just one gender until they joined the strawhats and they had their first gay panic ever.
Gushing about girls and how cute and soft and powerful and capable and amazing and lovable they are, to the point they look like two adorable fools blushing over their tea break conversation.
They are very aware why they like that one guy, but it doesn't stop them from jokingly (or not in Sanji's case) complaining about their life decisions.
And by that I mean that Vivi and Sanji hold hands in solidarity every time Koza or Zoro do another heroic yet stupid thing and they can't scream to anyone else about it.
Didn't understand their sexuality 'cause they either thought everyone was pretty (Vivi) or had a specific attraction towards different genders (Sanji).
Some nights are about weeping over the fact they will die alone, other nights are 'bout how the list of people who deserve them is limited to two people and maybeee a third one of the person is interested.
Honestly? They adore being scandalized. It's mostly because they value the most those who are not afraid to treat them like equals, who are not afraid to fight them (physically if necessary), those who are not easily fooled by appearances.
I don't know how to explain this but they are damsel in distress coded, even when they're also very Knight of the Kingdom. Not 'cause they can defend themselves it means they're not into being defended and supported and occasionally saved.
Terrified of starting something even if they could, as in they don't want to ruin what they have wishing for something they don't know if it'd work out.
Penpals. I don't argue about this one. They absolutely most definitely deserve to be the bestest of penpals. Sanji should be able to describe every single thing Nami does so Vivi and he could sigh dreamily over it. Also, they should share their mutual condolences over the way Koza and Zoro sound when they're on protective mode, or how they look when they train, or how close they are to losing their minds over the miscommunication of their relationships.
They call each other names are Mr. Prince and Vivi Strawhat. The letters are freaking coded to look like recipes. Insane stuff.
Would arrive color matching to an event without knowing. It's the fashion radar. No idea what it means.
The rules establish that they must almost faint when they see a handsome cute girl swearing like a sailor, but always fistfight the pretty boy with a kind heart for taking shit.
Just saying there's also a bit of gender slash identity crisis with both of them. Just a bit. Do I want to be like them or do I like them? Is this admiration or lust? Is this romantic love or friendship? They're so confused.
The last person you want to threaten with the "you and what army?" line, because there are 5 to 10 other queer motherfuckers waiting to kill you if you harm the bisexual / pansexual icon of the team.
Jason has rules that you can't eat anything after 8 p.m., even if someone is going to starve to death, no one should break this rule.
Coral just wanted to have a snack and so she took a cookie and, of course, she doesn't care that the clock says 8:10...
as a result, Jason runs after her and yells that he will fry her, Percy runs after both of them and yells so that Jason doesn't dare touch his sister.
Hazel and Nico just watch tiredly and wait for the opportunity to intervene at the very last moment.
Haha, I don't know about that rule for my concept of Jason. I feel like wolf instinct is making sure everyone eats (Hazel and Nico 100% share this instinct, but more on a grandma level than wolf baby). But I do like the idea that he's a lot looser when it comes to Coral. Like you'd think he'd be more stiff because her nature clashes against his and he'd want to restrain himself more against his instincts. But he doesn't have to - not with her. Because she can handle whatever he throws at her, and he knows that and understands it doesn't bother her (and that trying to lecture her on the right way to do something means nothing to her, especially if a personal rule beholden to Jason and not society as a whole).
So, lol, I'm imagining him calling up Hazel, like, "hey we gotta track down Coral, I need to go batshit insane for ten minutes", and Hazel's just "oh my god I didn't sign up for this shit", and then they find Coral, Coral explicitly and purposely breaks a rule in front of him then handles it easily when he snaps, while Hazel stands back, looking exasperated like her dad when he has to be the older brother, and makes sure they don't murder each other or accidentally hurt someone else.
Because at his core Jason doesn't want to hurt anyone. Sometimes an execution seems like the only proper response, and he doesn't really like that about himself - but in the same breath, he also knows he's one of the few people who won't be affected by it because it's the right thing to do/the law requires it as punishment, so if it becomes the only possible outcome, or something that's voted on, he always volunteers himself to be the one who holds the knife, or syringe, or whatever they use, idk how they'd handle the death penalty. It's a complicated to understand that the way you think is best might be dumb while, at the same time, holding it in such high importance that it baffles you other people don't agree.
(Fun fact: My OC, June, has so much love for the world but her gut instinct is violence every single time, no matter how minor the rule, because of reasons, and this causes her so much internal pain that sometimes I get mad at about it, lol)
I think, unlike June, Jason has more stages in his idea of justice. Teaching people about morals and ethics, showing them the difference between right and wrong, explaining the importance of the rules - these are likely his starting points. It might be that his gut instinct is violence but he's taught himself better ways to start off (which June, unfortunately, is not capable of, due to the way I've structured her story). He's also softer because while he feels the urge to be the leader, he doesn't necessarily want to be. Sometimes he wants collaboration. It can be difficult at times, yes, but that's how Jason is. He wants everyone to be equal. I don't think he has OCPD but I do think he deals with some traits of it, varying in intensity at certain times.
Thalia would be different - in what I remember of canon, she's more volatile, more insistent on being in charge, was immediately promoted to Lieutenant and there's never any indication she was unhappy about that. So, whether she has it or not, maybe OCPD traits are much stronger and prominent in her than in Jason.
She might have a harder time letting go of the reigns, or accepting collaborative efforts than he does. She might have a higher sense of superiority than he does - in part because she's the daughter of Zeus and gets pedestal-ed for it, and in part because any possible OCPD traits push that sense of "I'm right and everyone else is wrong". She might get more anxious when things aren't orderly or perfect, or focus too much on the small things.
Which works out - you know, everyone is different, it wouldn't make sense for them to be the same.
With my Neptune girls, Coral is on the more extreme end of szpd, but Melpomene exists in more of a middle ground, with a higher prevalence for ASPD traits than Coral (I'll go into that in a separate post when I have time, but was thinking about ASPD as a Neptune/Poseidon/Ares thing as well, which, haha, comorbidity among personality disorders is common so why not, and it was fitting Mel's character as I was developing her, so double why not 🤷‍♂️).
But, lol, not to get off track, yeah, I think the idea of Jason using Coral to blow off some steam because she doesn't have the emotional capacity to be bothered by his neurotic tendencies blowing up at her is a good concept. And Percy stumbling into the middle of this with zero awareness because Coral didn't think to say anything about it the last time they talked, seeing Jason chasing his sister around with a whip of lightning, is so funny.
He'd be so confused for a hot second before jumping into action. And then Jason would be yelling at him that she broke a rule (a stupid, silly rule that makes no sense to most people), and now Percy's chasing him yelling about that's a dumb rule, and Coral agrees, which ofc, makes Jason even more upset, and now he's chasing both of them, and Hazel is in the background just fully, "ugh, if I knew being Pluto's child meant I had to deal with this shit, I would've stayed dead. Or asked you to train me yourself instead of sending me to Camp Jupiter" and Nico is nodding along, going, "This is why Dad doesn't talk to his family unless he has to"
It's how they bond as cousins 😂
Time to do my go-to rare pair for the ship game: Koushiro/Iori post-Kizuna and Beginning
It really is a shame that, at some point in the middle of 02, they just stopped putting emphasis on the relationship between these two, despite the fact that they were STILL continuously mirroring them to some degree. While Koushirou is the brain everybody naturally turns to for help, Iori, despite being very analytical of situations and surroundings, tends to get himself overlooked more easily. And, even as they grow up, this may be something he would need some help and guidance for...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... Especially if you consider their set-ups as "work-a-holics in shirt and tie". The big difference here is: Koushirou is the CEO of his own company, he has LEARNED to stand up for and assert himself through the course of early Adventure already and it's no surprise that this is the reason why he is considered an "expert on all things Digimon" as a public speaker. Iori on the other hand... Is still the youngest Chosen Child in the group and is obviously being exploited as intern at the company he is working at during his law studies. He IS computer-savvy, maybe not to the same degree as his senpai, but definitely just as prone to stressing himself and taking on more work than he can chew. It almost seems like there'd be a lack in balance - and, as mentioned, maybe a lack in guidance too. And remembering their early set-ups, Koushirou may not always be the most tactful person in EVERY situation, but when it comes to very certain people, he IS observant - and very capable of calling them out for their issues especially those he usually also has himself.
Koushirou is among those who never treated Iori as a nuisance and Iori never felt belittled by him - so the confidence boost he'd get from getting praised by Koushirou is something he definitely needs. For his hard work, ambition, wit... He needs to know that he is being taken seriously and considered an intellectual and compassionate equal - which is something Koushirou would definitely provide, even unintentionally, simply by treating him like he always treated him: Respectfully and with kindness (and also in a somewhat protective manner). Iori on the other hand does look up to Koushirou whether he might surpass him in height is still up to debate though and, upon spending time with him, would get more and more comfortable being honest and calling HIM out as well. It's like an automatic mutual trauma response that goes like "I am tired as heck, but I need to finish this task at all costs, but HOLD THE PHONE, YOU WILL GET YOUR BREAK, MISTER". And it might actually work, because they care about each other a lot.
I could imagine them doing research together, with Koushirou teaching Iori how to use his gadgets and sources to his advantage for the sake of his future career - and with the help of the likes of Takeru, they might actually leave their office spaces and spend time outside, doing cultural activities and historical sightseeing. I really think that is something they'd both enjoy and that'd do them good while improving their relationships even further. Frowning over the others constantly jumping into danger and dragging them with them - but they're the voices of reason, so despite their grouchy faces, they'll happily oblige and share knowing, smiley glances about it.
... On a more romantic route, one might argue that everything I've just mentioned might cause Iori to eventually tell Koushirou that he doesn't "want to be seen/treated as you've always seen/treated me anymore", actively taking a step towards confessing. Because even if they're both rational thinkers, they can be very emotional around the right people - and Iori would be the one to initiate, maybe after harboring a crush for quite some time (which I know is a headcanon we can both imagine going down like that!). Koushirou might not be able to respond to something like that immediately, he would take his time for contemplation - and I wouldn't consider it impossible for them to act on it together.
Looking into Dazai and Chuuya’s frenemy dynamic-
TW: Suicide mentions/Suicide ideation (packaged deal if Dazai is involved)
Disclaimer: LOTS OF SPOILERS! Spoilers from season 5, 15 arc, and mentions from dead apple. If you’re hoping to find an essay on the soukoku ship, this unfortunately isn’t one because I’ll be taking everything characters say at face value. Also I’m only using information from the anime because unfortunately I haven’t read the written material like further into the manga or the light novels yet. This is just my thoughts and theories so far to address the question, “why can’t Dazai and Chuuya get along?”
Would I say they hate each other? To a degree I would say they definitely dislike one another, but I don’t see either of them wishing calamity upon calamity in the other. Maybe they’ll say it but they won’t mean it. Yet at the same time it’s confirmed in the span of 7 years they still couldn’t enjoy one another’s company. It’s even hard to say if Dazai ever considered Chuuya a friend when in comparison Oda had the most impact on him, and Dazai is even seen to be missing Kunikida’s company. Even after Ango’s betrayal, Dazai is more civil with him than with Chuuya. Then in WAN, Dazai is seen to be reminiscing about his friendship with Oda and Ango fondly, but not Chuuya (or at least from what I’ve seen?).
But I do think they hold some level of respect and appreciation for the other. Atsushi had shown that there needs to be a level of trust in order for double black to be effective as a duo partnership in battle. And when Dazai and Chuuya work together they’re like a well oiled machine. I like to think they both know the other’s capabilities at it’s fullest, making them someone reliable if they’re backed into a corner. For Chuuya, it’s whenever he uses corruption, and Dazai can depend on Chuuya when he has to go up against bigger challenges. So when the other gets tossed around like a rag doll? Of course they’re shocked. They know the other is strong and capable. So if they’re getting their ass handed to them then they know this is serious. They’re each other’s “old reliable” in a sense.
And yet Dazai tells Chuuya to go eat some bullets, while in Chuuya’s first moments of screen time it’s abundantly clear he’s got a bone to pick with the detective. So what gives?
Dazai admits that even though they never could get along, there was moments they understood one another. Imma take this line and run with it-
I think the reason why they seem to understand one another so well is because their struggle is quite similar in nature. Both of them are struggling with the aspect of their humanity. Chuuya struggles through an identity crisis that had haunted him most of his life, trying to understand if he’s human or not. Meanwhile Dazai struggles to even feel human, unable to find reasons to live. Shared struggles tend to bring people together, it’s the reason why group therapy is so effective since it shows people they’re not alone. The problem is that they handle their struggles so differently that it triggers the other.
Dazai is DEPRESSED DEPRESSED. He’s working with a very limited and handicapped source of energy and motivation. Honestly the fact that he’s such a genius is what probably keeps him afloat, otherwise I can’t see him being able to do anything without having a breakdown. He’s doing his best with what he got, sugar coating his suicidal tendencies by “avoiding pain” and “waiting for a beautiful woman to die with.” Otherwise he could easily end it all with a single bullet, yet he hasn’t. Meanwhile Chuuya has always been the type to run into conflicts head first, both literally and figuratively. Dazai must see him as a “try hard,” and gets irritated with how Chuuya is basically running circles with energy left to burn. It’s like a slap to Dazai’s face, like his best isn’t enough. Especially when Chuuya hurls insults at him about his coping mechanisms. Sure it isn’t the best, but like I said, Dazai works with what he has.
Then there’s Chuuya’s perspective, who’s probably frustrated with Dazai’s suicidal tendencies. Dazai is basically his opposite in the exact same struggle, so it could be insulting to Chuuya whenever he sees Dazai ready to roll over and die. Chuuya had always been a fighter, climbing and struggling to keep going. Yet despite all his efforts he always seems to place second after Dazai. Dazai was an executive first, Mori wants Dazai to come back to Port Mafia, and even in confronting Rimbaud, Dazai did it first. Dazai could EASILY run circles around Chuuya, but he doesn’t, which is insulting to Chuuya’s efforts like he isn’t being taken seriously.
I think it just overall boils down to a difference in values and priorities. Even in WAN they make fun of each other’s shopping choices. While Dazai fawns over discounted bandages, Chuuya doesn’t see the point if you can just avoid getting injured in the first place. Chuuya enjoys fine expensive wine, but Dazai just shrugs and says the cheap stuff gets the job done fine.
While Dazai intends to work with what he’s got, Chuuya wants to work for something better. And the clashing of mindsets has the two at each other’s throats.
Of course there’s also the fact Dazai left Port Mafia. And I don’t know about you guys, but personally I’d be pissed if the guy who manipulated and cornered me into joining a crime organization suddenly had the audacity to leave. And while it’s never specified if Chuuya ever learned the reason why Dazai left, I don’t think he’d be happy to hear it either. Sure, Chuuya will sympathize with the loss of a friend, but if Oda’s last wish really made such an impact on Dazai, that basically means their double black partnership doesn’t hold a candle to that friendship. Dazai had essentially chosen Oda over Chuuya. That must sting even just a bit. This is someone you trust with your life, who you fought back to back with, but they still choose someone else. That’s like if your best friend has a different best friend that isn’t you. So I think this extra bit of analysis should hopefully explain why Chuuya looses his temper quicker than Dazai whenever the detective is around.
Anyway these are just my thoughts and theories, of course it can always change if I learn more of the source material such as the manga and light novels. I by no means push that this has got to be canon or anything like that 👍
heyhey, I'm doing some worldbuilding of the Great Knights myself right now, and I'm wondering—how do you view their role in the kingdom? Were they primarily a military force, or diplomatic, or both? Did each knight have separate duties and training, or did they overlap a lot?
Thank you for the ask!! I would love to ramble about the Great Knights... I do love those guys (if you can't tell /j)
To me, the Great Knights are more direct extensions of the Pale King and White Lady themselves. To Hallownest, the Great Five are the more 'public' face to the King and Queen's will, and I also believe each one serves a distinct purpose. Military, diplomatic, emissaries, etc- they are all and more, but each of them is highly individual.
I believe the Great Knights are, in the most literal sense of the term without any emotional connotations, tools for both WL and especially PK to utilize and fill in the gaps in their own arsenals. I don't believe each of these knights were chosen for combat alone; Ogrim, bless his heart, is a mess in that department. But each one brings something to the table that makes them stand out among the ranks.
To start, let's talk about the two that I believe have the most direct connection to the two rulers of Hallownest:
Dryya is admittedly the knight I have the least personal lore around, but I think her purpose is clear: She is the Queen's Guard. I believe she is what the White Lady needed most; a protector, a defender, and a confidant. The White Lady in my hc is far more a personable higher being than the Pale King, and before she bound herself, I imagine she would have been the one to attend to the more social aspects that came with being a monarch, while her Wyrm preferred to work behind the scenes. Dryya served to ensure her safety and to command her guard; as a higher being of life, I imagine WL has very, very little interest or knowledge over things that cause such mass death such as warfare and border skirmishes. Dryya would have been the one she trusted most to lead the Queen's Guard in her stead.
Hegemol, on the flipside, was the opposite for the Pale King. He was hand-picked by the king specifically because of his connection to the people of Hallownest; how easily he wove through crowds and stopped to assist even the smallest bug with their kite stuck in a tree. Hegemol had the social standing by sheer reputation alone, and had long since become a local hero in his own right. Certainly, his strength was unmatched given his size, but the decision to raise him as the first Great Knight was entirely strategic on PK's behalf. The Pale King had no need for a defender; he may have shed his shell, but he was more than capable of holding his own. What he really needed was a face to his own people that didn't involve his own.
Hegemol, in many ways, was one of the ones who taught PK to love Hallownest without knowing it. How I write my PK is that he started as a very detached, near-emotionless creature. Hegemol was not initially selected as recognition for his own good deeds (though PK at the time had enough wherewithal in him to make it seem that way); PK knew he desperately needed someone to help him sway the new minds of these bugs. Was it manipulation? Yes, as much as a creature with next to zero moral compass at the time and just an overall desire to 'make a good kingdom' can manipulate. Over time, Hegemol took on many duties, but his most important while he was the Pale King's only knight was to be a confidant and liaison with the common bugs of Hallownest. He later also became the king's tactician, though he shared that title gladly with Ze'mer.
The other three do not have a 'direct' role to either ruler, but more to Hallownest itself.
Ze'mer is a renowned warrior from outside of Hallownest. To me, she was a field commander, trusted by her kingdom to seek out those along their borders who may eventually come to harm them. She arrived in Hallownest just this way, and gained audience with Hallownest's rulers on behalf of her queen. After a few years of diplomatic talks, Ze'mer was essentially 'stationed' in Hallownest by her queen, likely as a more cultural and diplomatic exchange as the two kingdoms developed trade. I'm still working out what happened between them (Part of me thinks her kingdom was devoured by the Blackwyrm, and when she fought alongside the others to destroy it, she pledged herself to PK as recompense for helping to avenge her people) (or something juicier that I'm still back and forth on :eyes:)
In Hallownest, Ze'mer is the most militaristic. Ze'mer is near-unmatched in her battle prowess, not just with nails in hand, but with her knowledge of wartime and experience leading troops. I said before that Hegemol was a tactician, which was true; but all of his experience came from books and heavy research on behalf of his king. Ze'mer lived through and led multiple wars in her own kingdom, and her knowledge in this aspect would prove invaluable. Hegemol learned nearly everything he knows from her in that regard, and even now will defer to Ze'mer's judgement of a battlefield over even the Pale King's.
If she has any title, Ze'mer is the King's Champion. She is the one PK would send out to investigate border skirmishes, to scout out nearby kingdoms and lands, and to put down any fighting occuring within Hallownest itself.
Isma, imo, was quite literally a gift from Unn to the Pale King, when Unn allied Greenpath and it's inhabitants with Hallownest. In my mind she's some sort of moss-aphid creature that Unn very much spat out fully-capable. She said hey, little wyrm. Here you go. And then he said um. thanks. Isma's role among the five was the most diplomatic, especially to the people of Greenpath and the Mosskin. She was known around the kingdom for her healing abilities and her ability to revive even a long-wilted houseplant. Isma was instilled by Unn to ensure that Hallownest never grew too cruel, and always remembered it's roots.
Within the Great Five, she was often the first healer they saw, especially on the battlefield. Of course, healing isn't all she can do. In more than a few political plots for the sake of the nest, Isma has also been in the position of royal poisoner with her arsenal of herbal knowledge, and she can manifest thorns as easily as she can new fronds.
While Isma and Hegemol share similar roles in how they bridge the gap between the commonfolk and the royal court, it is worthy to note that Isma was far more roving than Hegemol was. As Hallownest grew, Hegemol tended to be recalled back to the palace or the City of Tears as both's primary guard, while Isma would be spotted anywhere from Greenpath to Crystal Peak to the Fungal Wastes to negotiate with the Mantis tribe.
And lastly, Ogrim. Poor, sweet Ogrim. In my timeline, Ogrim is just barely out of his squireship by the time of Hallownest's demise. I have very little for him in where his place would be among the five because of this, but if all had gone perfectly to plan, he was intended to take Hegemol's place while Hegemol would stand as the eternal bulwark of the Watcher's Spire, to protect Lurien in his dream. Ogrim has the fondness and charm fit for getting along with many bugs, but lacks... The discipline that would certainly come with time and age. If only he got it.
Ogrim was also Isma's squire to me, and thus the two had a very close mentor-student bond. It's why he protects her in the waterways, yet also doesn't dare to stray too far.
I hope this helped to answer some of your question! My writing is a bit fried today but I hope I got everything out clearly :)
Control Your Heart
There is one thing that is very crucial for using OFA and that is obviously controlling your heart we have seen it been said so many times from the very being when blackwhip appeared all the way up till now
So now I’m going to rant…
Izuku Midoriya is a very emotional person we have seen him being happy, sad, upset, confident, embarrassed, mad, crying, shocked, confused, honestly if you can think of any emotion we have probably already seen it on Izuku’s face
However, these emotions are intensified when it comes to Katsuki Bakugo. Katsuki isn’t just any old regular person, Katsuki is someone who Izuku holds dear.
Sure their relationship wasn’t perfect but as both Izuku and Katsuki matured they saw each other’s strength’s and weaknesses just as equally as their own strength’s and weaknesses thus making their relationship stronger accepting each other as equals and eventually as friends. Izuku never thought that a day would come were he and Katsuki could ever have a decent conversation with Katsuki but as they grew it did end up happening which made Izuku feel blessed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let me talk a little about the word ‘blessed’ and what I found is this (yes I used google so don’t at me, this is just a rant after all)
Tumblr media
‘Bringing pleasure or relief as a welcome contrast to what one has previously experienced’ this definition fits Izuku perfectly the ‘…to what one has previously experienced’ that could be taken as an account that he was ‘blessed’ for meeting All Might for inheriting OFA for up until this point in the story him having end up making friends
Now…
‘Used in mild expressions of annoyance or exasperation’ this definition fits Katsuki perfectly the ‘…mild expressions of annoyance’ especially since Katsuki can get easily annoyed especially from Izuku on of them being Izuku’s mumbling and some other words are similar which ironically enough have seen Katsuki use ‘Damn’ : “Damn nerd” ‘Shitty’ : “Shitty nerd” as for ‘blasted’ and ‘flaming’ it could be easily seen as his quirk
These two examples come into play with both characters except here’s the massive difference between Izuku and Katsuki
Katsuki has come into terms with his feelings he wants to keep Izuku at arms length, he gets concerned for Izuku’s well being, he tells All Might his feeling towards Izuku, he apologizes to Izuku going as far as to say his first name ‘Izuku’ Katsuki could have said ‘Midoriya’ yet he doesn’t and goes to say ‘Izuku’
Ex.
Tumblr media
As for Izuku he hasn’t come to terms with his own feelings towards Katsuki all the signs are there him crying and getting emotional when Katsuki got kidnapped, when he went feral when Katsuki got stabbed, how he knows how Katsuki feels, and yet he is oblivious to his own feelings he refuses to see something that’s right there in front of him
Ex.
Tumblr media
Which feels perfect when Hori put that little input when Toga is talking about love Hori put it to make us think of one person and one person alone, Katsuki. There is no one else in the story who refers to Izuku as “Damn nerd”
Tumblr media
Katsuki, unlike Izuku, is very observant on almost anything and I’m not lying because he was capable of putting 2 and 2 together figuring out that Izuku has All Might’s quirk with just seeing Izuku fighting and the small little hint Izuku gives him in season one
S1 Epi. 8 ‘Bakugo’s Start Line’ - “It was given to me by someone else. Recently. But I can’t tell you who I got it from, so don’t ask! Sounds crazy, I know. It’s like something out of a comic book. Only it’s real. The thing is, I don’t really have any control over this power yet. I haven’t figured out how to make it my own, but I’m trying. I’ll work until I have full control of this borrowed quirk.”
Ever since that moment Katsuki started to piece little bits and pieces together and in season three Katsuki says these words to Izuku when Katsuki walks pass him when they both passed the first round of the provisional licensing exam
S3 Epi. 56 ‘RUSH!’ - “Guess I shouldn’t be surprised with that quirk you got.” / “It looks like you’ve made that borrowed power your own.”
If Katsuki was/is capable of doing that then that means Katsuki knows Izuku’s feelings towards him and it very clearly shows in this panel
Tumblr media
If you removed the words then all you see is Izuku’s feelings in his face which is why he started to run towards Katsuki but due to him being exhausted he falls and Katsuki catches him and that’s the moment it’s confirmed on Izuku’s feelings towards him which is why all Katsuki says is “I know” (and hopefully I would like to assume that when this scene gets animated I hope “I know” comes in a soft whisper where only Izuku can hear)
Katsuki figured it out he didn’t need Izuku to say it he saw through Izuku’s emotions/actions
To Izuku Katsuki is something more than just a childhood friend, more than just a classmate, more than a rival, more than a friend. Katsuki is Izuku’s rock, a place where Izuku feels safe, he can put his trust in, he can go to him for anything that he truly needs, all in all Katsuki is Izuku’s home.
And it goes the other way around Izuku is Katsuki’s home. Which makes Deku vs. Kacchan pt. 2 so special from the beginning up until Deku vs. Kacchan pt. 2 we have never seen Katsuki break down. We never seen Katsuki cry in such a way, we never seen Katsuki’s voice crack/break, we never seen Katsuki yell at the top of his lungs. Katsuki trusts Izuku so much to let Izuku see him break down mentally and physically.
With all this being said, it makes full on perfect sense for the previous OFA users to keep reminding Izuku to control his heart.
And with the new chapter, Ch. 367, it makes full on perfect sense for Izuku to be reminded that he needs to control his heart and the fact that Mirio said it out loud telling Izuku that everything is okay that he basically needs to keep a calm leveled head is great because if Izuku hadn’t heard it out loud then ShigAFO mission would have been a full on success.
ShigAFO mission was to get Izuku enraged so much that he can easily get everything done. Which is why ShigAFO chose to kill Katsuki because he knew, from the previous war, that it will result in the way he wanted it to go. Which also makes sense for ShigAFO to say that Katsuki is the closest thing to Izuku. He knows where to cause full on damage towards Izuku and that isn’t just physical pain, no, to cause more pain to Izuku is his emotions his feelings mainly the feelings he has for Katsuki
Tumblr media
Anyways, that’s my bkdk rant
I couldn't hold back I had to share some more. One of my favorite aspects of the rancher dynamic is that they're both scoundrels. They're stubborn and have tempers and love revenge and Jimmy was just. on board with bringing up a warden to wreak havoc on the Red Velvet Keep. They can enable each other's insanity
THEYRE. YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SO GLAD YOU DIDN'T HOLD BACK AND SENT THIS ALSO BECAUSE....
sometimes. (not aLL the time) but sometimes people make Jimmy too...passive. but my god he is the most defensive person literally ever in the entire world...Jimmy would so much rather go directly for escalating a situation and making it worse than roll over. He's the perpetual target right? His first instinct is kinda of like when an animal tries to appear bigger and threatening so you won't mess with it,, he immediately goes for doubling down and trying to appear untouchable,,,, of course. he is jimmy. this does not work. AND WHEN IT DOESNT, HES STILL TOO STUBBORN TO STOP,, he. his self-fulfilling prophecy the situations he gets in always worsen for him more than anyone else,,
but that kind of stuff is what Tango's good at...like Tango bringing the warden to the surface in dl is nowhere near an isolated event for him he does things like that all the time. and so you're right they are so similar in some ways (and I could draft an entire post about this itself, they are so so so similar sometimes) with this propensity for revenge but more than that its like...tango is able to arm that feeling in jimmy, that need for chaos where he's the perpetrator and not the victim. Cause it never quite works out when he tries on his own...not that it necessarily works out always for Tango as well, or even works out that specific time with the warden, but he gives jimmy something to DO about it rather than just. try and act threatening and then backtrack and give in when it doesn't work.
and. while we're here. I'm so sorry I get carried away very easily talking about them. but about the STUBBORNNESS. when I said they were similar in many ways...one of those things (though it presents maybe differently on the surface) is the insecurity and idea they each hold about themselves that they are...less capable than the other players...their insistent need to always take the blame. and so. this being something they share...AND the stubbornness...AND the fact that they both have a quick draw temper...this can easily both be good for them and bad for them.
good for them in the sense...they're both SO insistent on blaming things on themselves that they end up taking blame OFF OF the other. like. it's always an assumed "I'm in the wrong" and then the other makes the same comment and they work so hard trying to debunk why it can't POSSIBLY be the others fault they come to the conclusion NEITHER of them deserve the blame after all. GOOD!
bad for them in the sense....remember what I said about Jimmy's instinct being to double down? I do think this similarity and stubbornness and temper would make it so easy to. delve into a fight. only in just the perfectly WRONG combination of circumstances. And I spent like 3 months analyzing how this dynamic would come up in a uhh fight between them and wrote a uhhh 6K word fic I've dubbed "the fight fic" that I never published because I was like man. would the entire rancher community hate me if I suddenly posted 6K words of the ranchers fighting with no warning? LMAO
but. anyway I feel like I digressed so much there haha I'm normal about them <33
Wanna share some Astronova HC's because they're all I have thought about for the last 2 months 🥰
-Because it looks like almost all of Xylitol's body is mechanical, instead of a heartbeat, he's got a hum in his chest very similar to how you hear your PC whirr when in use. Astronaut falls asleep to this ALL the time. The best way to de-stress at the end of a hard day is when he holds her and she feels like for once Ms. "Icebot" doesn't need all the answers
-Their bond grew even stronger after the loss of planet xylitol. The journey to the next planet was a long one, and there was MUCH to micromanage and lead with all these refugeed cookies and robots. He starts entrusting her with a lot of tasks b/c she's already proven more than capable when it came to saving the lives of his beloved citizens. They'd spend many hours awake, fighting off sleep in his room to discuss future plans, routes, strategies, etc. A complete comfort in each others presence without even realizing it 🥰
-When Astronaut eventually realized the feelings she caught weren't totally platonic, she didn't act out on them for a while, worrying about a multitude of factors (would it be reciprocated? would it affect their teamwork? what would all the others think of an alien falling for their leader? maybe she'd never be accepted as one of them.) Meanwhile Xylitol was the dead last person to realize what he felt. Every cookie, robot, and space doughnut on the ship knew what they were seeing but he was utterly clueless for the longest time. Cue to Xyl-Q, Space Doughnut, and Xylitol Researcher all exchanging looks™️ between each other every time he talked about Astronaut a little too fondly 😏🤭
SORRY IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO ANSWER THIS, I HAD TO GATHER MY HCS FOR THIS ADORABLE SHIP.
I love them, they remind of Eve and Wall-E
Both are in love with each other, but SO AWKWARD around each other.
-Astronaut's actual name is Neopolitan (I 'm part of the idea that cookies with job names actaully have flavor names), but she liked to be called "Neo" by her friends, so she allowed him to say it too, even thought Xylitol Nova is very formal around her. but whenever he does says it, it makes her extremely flustered. She didnt know why, but she always blushes whenever he calls her "Neo."
-Astronaut tends to call Xylitol Nova "Nova" or "Xy", which makes him flustered whenever she says it. He doesnt have the cybernetic guts to tell her to stop.
Due to being born from a star, Xylitol Nova's body is constantly warm, while Astronaut being made form ice cream, is always cold. So whenever they do date, constant cuddle from both sides <3. I also headcanon Xylitol Nova's body (along with his citizens) is a mix between a cyborg and a android, his own dough a prefect of dough and extremely tough metals like tungsten and Titanium, his body tends to overheats when he gets stressed or anxious, so Astronaut hugs him to help calm down and cool off his circuits.
HEIGHT DIFFERENCE. Astronaut is only up to the middle of his chest, while Xylitol Nova is in 6 ft and up mark. He easily scoops her up whenever she needs to reach something.
Due to her engineering background, I picture she studied the body of the Xylitolian in case anyone needed a tune up. Xylitol Nova is fascinated by her skill to learn this so quickly.
I imagine all of the citizens are watching them like a telenovela, all betting from time to time on how their relationship would go.
"I saw our leader creating hard light flowers. I better he's making them or Astronaut."
"No way!! He's been working in the engine room with Xylitol Researcher Cookie for the past few days! He couldnt have had time for that!"
"10 quid says he did."
"Fine!"
----Later----
The two see Xylitol Nova gift the flowers to Astronaut while on break, saying "I heard you missed looking a the flowers of your home, so I could replicate a few for you...
I have more, but I wanna hear more of yours. SEND MORE, I BEG YOU.
