“I will always thank the Lord; I will never stop praising him.” —Psalm 34:1 (GNT)
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” —Psalm 34:1 (AMPC)
“Be Thankful at All Times” By Joyce Meyer:
“Some people are very thankful for every little thing that is done for them, while others are never satisfied, no matter how much is done on their behalf. Be grateful for the lessons you’ve learned, especially the hard ones because we tend to learn the most during tough times.
Choose to be a grateful person—one filled with gratitude not only toward God, but also toward people. When someone does something nice for you, let that person know you appreciate it.
Meditate daily on all the things you have to be thankful for. Speak them to the Lord in prayer, and as you do, you will find your heart filling up with His peace, love, and joy. I believe thankful people are happy people, so go ahead and increase your joy today by being thankful.
Prayer of the Day: Father, thank You for being with me through the tough times and for the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Thank You for putting people in my life you have helped me in the past and continue to help me now. I love You, and thank You for my many blessings, amen.”

Steve is 19 when Eddie first says it. It's the night Eddie comes home from the hospital, body all bandaged up to help him heal. Steve picks him up, drops him off the brand new trailer and has to say his goodbyes. He's the one who's been staying with Max at the hospital since Lucas started going to school again. Eddie watches, seated on the door, shoulders leaning against the frame.
Eddie waves at him, hand still wrapped protectively on his middle. There's a tired smile on his face, "See you tomorrow, Steve." It's the first time Eddie ever calls him by his first name.
Steve is 20 and Eddie Munson has been saying, "See you tomorrow!" as his goodbye to him since that night. Robin thinks it's for him and for him only. Steve watches Eddie, something he does a lot these days. He watches as he says his goodbye to the kids, says goodbye to Nancy, Robin, Jonathan, Argyle. Eddie never once says the words, "See you tomorrow!"
Steve waits for everyone to be gone, hitching rides from the other older kids. Eddie turns to him when everyone has finally left, "Are you staying, Stevie?"
"No. I am leaving too."
Eddie smiles at him, cheeky and dimpled, brown eyes shimmering like a fucking gem against the cheap yellow fluorescent light, "Well then, see you tomorrow, sweetheart."
It clicks. It's not a goodbye, It's a promise. Eddie will see Steve tomorrow, come hell or high water. A promise made for him, and him only.
Steve pulls Eddie by the lapels of his ridiculously shiny jacket and kisses him straight in the mouth.
Steve is 23 when Eddie and him move in to their first apartment together. It's dingy, kind of old, but hey, it's freaking cheap. They unpack boxes of things that was given by Joyce, Karen, Hop, Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Sinclair. It's not much but it makes their bare home more livable.
They sleep on the floor with Steve's old mattress laid in the middle of the room, unopened boxes and furniture scattered surrounding them.
It's the first night they sleep together in their first home.
"See you tomorrow, sunshine." Eddie kisses his forehead, his nose and then his lips.
Eddie never says goodnight, just see you tomorrow.
Steve is 25 and it's the first time Eddie won't see him tomorrow. Eddie has to go to New York because Corroded Coffin just got discovered by an agent who wants to sign them.
It's okay. Eddie still calls every night, thank God the time differences of Chicago and New York isn't that big. Steve makes sure Robin isn't using the phone, so Eddie could call and tell him about his day with producers and songwriters and music and Steve can tell him about school essays and presentations for his Education class.
And always, always, just like every night since he was 19, Eddie ends the call with, "See you tomorrow." With whatever name he feels like that day. Sometimes it's sunshine, sometimes it's Stevie, sometimes it's love or baby or sweetheart. It doesn't really matter because it's all Steve.
Sometimes it's not true. Steve doesn't see Eddie the next day. Sometimes it goes on weeks and months on ends before the greeting finally means they get to see each other again.
That's okay. Steve's okay with it because if not tomorrow, he knows he'll still see Eddie again.
Steve is 34 when he hears Eddie say the greeting to someone else for the first time. Adoption is exhausting and repetitive and long and grueling but in the end— with a tiny little baby, cradled right against your arm— it's perfect.
Kids are always a mess. Steve knows because he has seven of them already, all grown up, all spread out in the country, all doing things on their own. And it's exhausting and takes out so much energy from you and your partner.
But with Eddie, all the weariness in his bones dissipate at the image of him, rocking their child on a rocking chair, humming a soft song as he finally tells them, "See you tomorrow, peanut."
Steve is 47 when Eddie and him finally get married. Joyce and Robin plan the wedding and as ridiculous as it sounds, they separate the two of them the night before. Steve rolls his eyes, kisses his groom on the cheek and waits for Eddie to say the four magic words.
"See you tomorrow, fiancé." Eddie whispers against his lips.
They get married the next day, under the bright beaming sun, spring flowers surrounding them as their daughter reluctantly spreads flowers for them.
Steve thinks he's heard so many variations of the greeting, but, "See you tomorrow, husband." might be his favorite from all of them.
Steve is 54 and it's the first time Eddie doesn't say it to him before going to bed. They both silently slip into the bed together, hands intertwined together like the other will float away if they let go.
Apparently being tortured and experimented with half of your childhood has some bad outcomes. It's the day they find out that El has a brain tumor.
Steve is 56 and the Party sleeps beside him and Eddie, tucked into each other like they're 15 again. The last time the Party had a sleepover was in 2000. They still all have sleepovers, don't get him wrong. What Steve means is the sleepover where they're all squished together on the floor, clinging onto each other as they sleep soundly, knowing they're safe and sound with their friends.
They have a sleep over just like that one last time.
"See you tomorrow. I love you." Eddie whispers, just as he falls asleep.
The expired eggos in their fridge gets thrown out six months later.
Steve is 65 when he gets to meet their first grandchild. Eddie is adamant that he is not crying, but his glasses make his tears more visible, making them look like actual diamonds coming out of his eyes.
Their daughter laughs, and lets them hold him for the first time. Steve is a blabbering mess of tears, holding the baby close to his chest. They stay the whole night, to help take care of the baby and their daughter.
And there's nothing more beautiful than the moment the nurse has to take their grandchild away from their daughter and she whispers, as gentle as a feather, "See you tomorrow, Ellie."
Steve is 73 when Eddie first forgets to say goodnight. It's Alzheimer's, it's—
It's not okay. It's never going to be okay. But Steve has to be okay, has to carry on for the love of his life. He takes care of Eddie, because he vowed to do so the day they got married, because he loves this man and he will do anything for him.
Steve tucks Eddie at night, after fits of confusion as to where he is, as to who he is, and kisses his forehead, soft and gentle, and says, "See you tomorrow, Eds."
Steve is 82 when he hears it for the last time.
Eddie's health has been declining. Nine years after his first prognosis, Steve takes it as a win, nine years and his love still battles it everyday.
They've been living in a nursing home, Steve is also getting too old to take care of Eddie. His bones are weary in ways that never goes away, his sight and hearing has always been bad but time has made it worst.
There's something called terminal lucidity. The doctors explain to Steve, in the most gentle way he's ever heard, "You're husband will probably, theoretically, have a moment of clarity where he remembers everything and it will seem like you have him back, but for us it is the sign of his health declining further. I am sorry, Mr. Munson."
Eddie gets it a few days later, and they talk nonstop. They talk about the kids, their grandchildren, about their friends, about how they've lived their lives. They open up photo albums, and point and laugh and smile and cry. Steve excuses himself to go to the bathroom, but only so he can call the others, so they could say their goodbyes. The kids fly in, from all around the country, to say goodbye.
Eddie goes a few hours later, warm and comfortable in his bed, cuddled next to Steve with a big dopey smile on his face, "See you tomorrow, Steve."
Steve smiles back, as Eddie closes his eyes. He stops fighting the ache in his bones, the never-ending beat in his scars.
"See you tomorrow, Eddie."
Steve doesn't see Eddie the next day, not the next, not the next, not the nex—
Until, he finally sees Eddie again.

welcome to ghost mod's thought experiment, the m/f ship bracket bonus round where every single m/f ship from the original round is pit against reylo of the 97/3 #shreksweep infamy.

Rowing Pair - Part Two | Don Hume
Tumblr media
Don Hume x Original Character
Hi! This is definitely not super edited and maybe a little rushed, but I wanted to post something so here we are! Enjoy part two of Rowing Pair! More to come from Allie and Don...
Part one here!
...
Don gets a little courage after the Huskies' first win.
...
The early morning breeze is chilly coming off the water. Rowing practice is in full swing, and Allie is standing with the other coaches. Bundled up in a thick sweater, her arms are crossed for more than one reason. Ulbrickson paces the length of the Varsity boat, shaking his head,
“34 strokes. You’re fine at 34 strokes. Anything higher and you fall apart. 34 strokes, you don’t beat Cal. 34 strokes, you don’t win at Poughkeepsie. You certainly don’t get to Germany. You know who you beat with 34 strokes?”
He throws his arm out, pointing with his notebook. “The JV boat. Maybe,” he says, turning to the JV crew lounging on the dock. “What are you guys waiting for? Get back in the boat.”
Scrambling to their feet, the younger crew hustles back into their shell. The last few days of practice had not gone well for either team. The Varsity crew was looking worse by the day, and the JV boat wasn’t coming together as they should. Another hour passes with the rowing shells making their way up and down the channel. No one is happy with the progression of the day. The coaches are climbing out of the motorboat, waiting for the two row boats to finish floating in.
Allie looks to Ulbrickson,
“Permission to speak candidly, sir?”
Al gives her a curt nod.
“I don’t think Glenn is a good fit for the boat, they need someone with more fire. There’s a lot of energy to wrangle in that shell, and I don’t think he can do it.”
Al’s eyebrows raise in interest, “Okay, then who would you suggest?”
“You know who.”
That statement gets Allie a pointed look from Ulbrickson without hesitation,
“We’ll talk about it later.”
The next practice, Bobby Moch strutted down the dock and straight into the cox seat of the JV shell. Three practices later, they were rowing like a well-oiled machine. Allie stood next to Ulbrickson and Bolles, watching from the dock. Allie couldn’t help the smug smile trying to break its way onto her face.
“Better?” she asked Al, hands clasped behind her back as she rocked on her heels.
That got her another pointed look, but this time followed by a small smile.
“Better.”
...
“They’re catching up!”
Joyce’s voice rings out amongst the cheering crowd, her hand gripped tightly in Allie’s. Their eyes trained on the two boats making their way through the water, even from far away, they can tell Washington is slowly making their way alongside the Cal boat.
Allie declined Pocock’s invitation to watch along the shore of the finish line, instead choosing to watch the race with Joyce on one of the observation boats. She clearly made the better choice with how invigorating it was to her and feel the crowd cheer around them. Allie and Joyce were only one of many yelling at the top of their lungs as Washington surged past the halfway point, swiftly passing the waning Cal crew.
“Oh, you’ve done it now, Bobby,” Allie mutters under her breath.
Bobby gives the opposing coxswain a taunting wave as they push ahead. The Washington crew's speed began building and paired with a synchronized technique, they were pulling away. Each crew member strained with each row of their oars, and their chests heaved. The crowd’s volume surged, and the announcer began shouting through the intercom as Washington pulled further ahead. Approaching the finish line, they were ahead by a full boat. Closer and closer to the finish line, pushing themselves to the limit.
“And there’s the flag! Washington has done it!”
Allie and Joyce grab each other once again, jumping in joy with their arms around each other. Joyce exclaiming,
“They did it! They really did it!”
As they glide to a stop, splashing surrounds the winning crew as they celebrate. They’re all damp by the time they come to a stop, with huge smiles on their faces. Don shakes hands with Bobby before looking up into the crowd. Catching eyes with Allie, his smile widens as he excitedly waves in her direction. Allie laughs at Don’s excitement, sending back a small wave and a massive grin.
The party was in full swing by the time Allie arrived, and she stood outside for a few moments trying to get her bearings. She was practically shoved out of Ulbrickson’s office an hour ago with a promise from Tom that they were done reviewing footage for the night. Allie was still standing outside, nervously smoothing out her dark green dress when Bobby’s smiling face appeared in the doorway. His jacket had already been abandoned somewhere; his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Leaning on the propped open door, he spoke,
“Scared to come in?”
Allie shook her head, “No, it’s just weird because I’m late and coming in alone.”
Bobby clicked his tongue, making his way down the steps to her with his hands tucked in his pockets. “It’s not weird, I’ll go in with you. This party is just as much for you as it is for us.”
She didn’t move, just giving Bobby a nervous glance. Bobby’s expression softens,
“Hey, uh, I’ve been meaning to talk to you anyway. Ulbrickson told me that I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you and that I wasn’t an option until you suggested me. So, thank you. I’m really happy to be back on the team.”
Allie hadn’t known Bobby long, but they had become close over the summer. While he was strong-headed and liked to act on his own fruition, he always valued Allie’s opinion. She was stunned when he was removed from the crew. Unfortunately, Ulbrickson had used Bobby’s punishment to teach the crew a lesson. Everyone is replaceable, he had said. That’s why he was so hesitant to bring him back and eat his own words.
“I’m really glad you’re back too, Bobby. It wasn’t the same without you.”
Allie meant it. Bobby brought out more in the JV team than he ever could have with the varsity team, and the potential was building.
Bobby knocked his shoulder against hers, flashing Allie a cheeky smile, “Come on, time to let loose. I bet you can get some schmuck in there to dance with you in the first five minutes!”
Allie smiled softly, shaking her head, “Oh, maybe I’ll just watch. I don’t want to dance with just anybody.”
Before she finishes her sentence, the coxswain is already nudging her towards the door encouragingly, “Well I’ll dance with you if you don’t see anyone who passes the test. Although I might have a suggestion or two myself on who to go for.”
His hand is firm on her back as they break through the doorway. Allie glances around, looking for another familiar face. She spots Don almost immediately, sitting on a bench alone with his hands tucked in his pockets. His cute little frown painted across his face. He hadn’t noticed her yet.
“There might be one good one in this bunch, but I might take you up on that offer later,” Allie gives Bobby a small smile, glancing away from Don before Bobby could catch on. Little did she know, Bobby already had plans in motion. While he couldn’t confirm her crush on Don, he sure could confirm Don’s crush on Allie. Having caught on to Don’s puppy dog eyes at practice the week prior, Bobby was determined for Don to make a move after their maiden win. There was no better time.
In the center of the room, couples were dancing to the big band music flowing through the speakers with others sitting at tables that hugged the sides of the room. Allie finds Joyce and Joe sitting close at a small table and notices Shorty slipping off outside with one of Joyce’s roommates. Noticing Allie, Joyce waves her over, gushing about how great she looks. Bobby dashes into action, scrambling through the crowd to Don. Joyce would hold Allie off for a few minutes, she was a talker just like he was. Bobby slides down the bench, settling beside his teammate.
“Whatcha doin’?”
Don shrugs, “I’m watching.”
Bobby glances around, Allie is still talking to Joyce. Good. “Why aren’t you talking to anybody?”
“I’m not much of a talker,” Don replies. His hands are still shoved into his pockets, no intention of moving.
“Oh.” Bobby nods, “Well, look over there. See her?” Motioning in the direction of Allie, who has now glanced up and caught the pair talking. Don balks, catching eyes with Allie and swiftly looking away, straight ahead. His throat is dry, and he blinks, “Y-yeah, I see her.”
“Allie said to me that she wasn’t going to dance with just anybody. Now, I’ve offered to dance with her if she doesn’t want to dance with anyone else but…,” Bobby turns in towards Don for emphasis. “Listen, Hume. Tonight, not tomorrow night, or next week. Tonight is your best shot.”
A beat passes, and Bobby thinks he’s convinced him.
“You go on. I think I’m okay.”
Bobby could smack Don Hume upside the head in an instant. “Christ sake,” he mutters, glancing again between Don and Allie. Don nods his head in quick succession, confirming he’s not changing his mind. Yeah, he and Allie had talked a good bit, and he had walked her to her dorm a few times after practice, but she had only kissed him on the cheek once. There’s no way that Allie liked him, he thought. He felt like she was just that nice to everyone. Defeated, Bobby huffs again, looking around the room. All the other guys were dancing with a girl. Well, Johnny and Roger were dancing together, but Bobby could still count that as dancing with someone.
A lightbulb goes off in his head, and before he could think again, Bobby shoots off the bench and towards the stage. Quickly cutting the music off, he steps up to the microphone.
“Hey, listen up!”
The crowd stops dancing and turns to the commotion on stage, Allie included.
“We got a musician in our midst. With a little encouragement, we might just get him to give us some live music. Don Hume! Get up here. Get up here!”
The crew rushes around Don and despite his protests, they drag him up by his arms and carry him towards the stage. As they’re settling him down around the piano, Bobby motions to Chuck, quietly telling him to go find Allie and to bring her upfront. Chuck dashes off, racing through the crowd before finding the young girl towards the back of the room. She gives him an odd look when he stops abruptly in front of her, slightly winded from his frantic search.
“Moch is requesting that you come up front,” Chuck makes a grand gesture of holding his arm out for her to take, which she does hesitantly. Bobby had something in play, and she was suspicious. In a way, Bobby thought that above all else, if he could get both Don and Allie to let loose with a little fun and music, then he could call his plan a partial success. He hoped, however, that Don’s little performance might give him some courage. Don settles in at the piano and looks out to the crowd, just as Allie steps into place between Bobby and Chuck.
He forces himself not to freak out with Allie front and center. He glances back at the piano then back to Bobby, then to Allie. She looked beautiful. Her hair is down, blonde curls falling down her shoulders, and right then and there, Don decides that dark green is his new favorite color. Her full attention is on him, and for those few seconds, he felt like he was in heaven. Tearing himself away, he turns to the piano fully and takes a few deep breaths. This is it, he thought.
Before he can second guess himself, he starts off the first tune that comes to mind- the same tune that Allie had been humming to herself at practice. Don played the first few notes and Allie broke out into a huge smile, recognizing the tune immediately. Soon everyone was dancing and singing along with the JV crew singing the loudest. Enamored with Don’s newfound confidence, Allie could hardly look away even with Bobby, Chuck, and Roger taking turns twirling her around every so often.
They could dance and sing all night, but as Don plays the final notes and the song comes to an end, the crowd erupts in cheers. For a few moments, Don takes in the cheers and applause before he turns to the crowd and bows his head, looking up with a smug smirk. Quite the opposite of his usual shy smile. Allie catches his gaze when he looks up. She’s hooked the second they lock eyes. She almost feels dizzy when Don’s smug smirk is accompanied by a quick wink in her direction. A deep blush rushes to her face, her lip taut between her teeth. Now, she’s the one in heaven.
When Don descends from the stage, he’s greeted by more celebration from the boys grabbing him up and patting him on the back with each telling him how great of a job he did. Others from the crowd doing the same. Allie stood aside, waiting her turn to congratulate him after all the boys did. Once the crowd had settled down, Don finally turned to Allie.
“That was amazing! You were amazing!”
Someone must’ve turned the big band music back on and turned the volume up because Don could barely hear what Allie was saying. All he could tell was that she was excited and had a huge smile on her face, his smile mirrored hers. He shook his head, raising his voice,
“What?”
She tried repeating herself, but between the music and the crowd they were stuck in the middle of, neither could hear each other. Allie huffs after another failed attempt and grabs Don by the hand. Dragging Don behind her, much like a lost puppy, Allie makes her way outside where it is quieter. Once they make it outside and she doesn't feel the need to yell, Allie turns to Don,
“Geez, It’s too loud in there after all that. I have been trying to say that your performance was amazing and you’re amazing! Where did you learn to play?”
“I’ve been playing since I was little,” Don shrugs, a smile still stuck on his face. “I’m glad you enjoyed it. That was a lot of fun, but uh don’t tell Bobby I said that. He’ll be dragging me up on stage at every party.”
Allie laughs, “I promise I won’t tell Bobby.”
A few beats of silence fall between them as they just take each other in. An idea spurs in Don’s head. The music from inside can be heard softly from their spot on the top landing of the steps just outside the doors.
“Do you want to dance? It’s too loud in there, but it’s not so bad out here.”
Allie nods eagerly, “I’d love to.”
Softly taking her hand in his, Don gently pulls Allie in towards him. Swaying gently to the music, neither of them breaks their comfortable silence for a few moments. Resting her head on his collar, the pair are closer than ever. Ignoring the fuzzy feeling in her stomach, Allie is the first to speak up. “You did really great today, Don. You and the whole crew. I have a good feeling about this year.”
“Thank you, today felt good. It was fun,” Don replies. “It felt nice to have someone there cheering me on too. I’d win every race if it meant you were at the finish line.”
“Well,” Allie smiles bashfully, looking up at Don, “Don’t go around telling the crew I have a favorite. They’ll all get jealous.”
Don chuckles, “I won’t tell.”
Even in the dim lighting, the two are fighting off a blush, hoping the other won't see. To distract them both, Don steps back and raises his arm, letting Allie twirl in place a few times. Her soft giggle fills his ears as her dress flares slightly, making Don smile. His voice is quiet, almost as if he’s saying it to himself,
“You look beautiful.” A beat passes. “You always do.”
Allie’s breath gets caught in her throat, as Don pulls her back to him. Her voice is equally as quiet when she looks up at him and replies,
“Thank you.” Allie hesitates after finishing her sentence, trying to find the courage for her next words. “Don, I-“
She can barely get Don’s name out before a familiar voice rings out,
“Hey, lovebirds! Might want to come back inside, they just brought out a cake with all our names on it!”
Huffing at Bobby’s rude interruption, Allie steps away from Don slightly, who rolls his eyes at the coxswain. He wants to pull Allie back to him as she steps away. He keeps their hands connected, but his eyebrows are furrowed, “You were saying?”
Allie shakes her head, smiling softly, “It can wait, let’s get inside.”
Eeekkk! I couldn't decide if things were going to go further, but I'm feeling a slow burn for this one. More chapters to come!

🩰 ˖ ࣪⊹ — fourth time’s a charm
pairing: mike wheeler x fem!reader
summary: three times you and mike almost kissed and one time you finally did, but the timing couldn’t be worse
warnings: a little angst near the end
age of pairing: 14-15
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. after dnd in his basement
the first time you and mike almost kissed was after a dnd meeting with the rest of the party in the seventh grade. there was loud chatter and definitely a lot of laughing. dustin was the first to leave, saying his mom would kill him if he didn’t feed his cat at exactly nine pm.
he took some snacks home and said he’d call to meet up next week at the same time. the six of you waved bye and continued playing until lucas and max said they had to go. they didn’t give a reason but held hands and quickly walked up the stairs. they probably were going to go on a small date before returning home as they always did which the rest of the group completely supported.
mike still despised max because he felt that she was pulling lucas away from the group but we agreed that mike would do that too if he was dating someone in the group.
next was el and will, hopper and joyce were out on their first date so jonathan was picking them up instead of letting them ride their bikes since he was worried ever since wills disappearance. they promised to call tomorrow and come over to watch the new horror movie and ran up as soon as jonathan honked the car horn.
your parents said they were going to pick you up at ten and the time read 9:34, so you wondered what to do with mike during the thirty minutes of ‘alone time.’ it had never just been mike and you, always another person like will or dustin was the last to leave but that day it just had to be you. you didn’t really mind because you and mike were friends so sure there’d be some awkward tension but maybe some conversion? wrong.
the moment will and el closed the basement door, the silence was unbearable. mike was staring at the dnd board and you just held the dice in your hand. you didn’t know if he wanted to keep playing or to just stop and talk. “um do you want to just leave the game or…?” you asked, looking up to face him.
he looked at you and quickly spoke up, “we can just leave it and watch a movie or something until your parents get here.” you nodded in agreement and got up to join him in walking to the couch. he turned on some movie you forgot the title of and sat on the couch. you made yourself comfortable and opened a bag of chips which mike also did.
about ten minutes of utter silence passed by with the occasional combined laughter when something funny happened. but neither of you ever looked at each other, keeping eyes glued to the screen. you then reached to eat some more popcorn from a bowl mike was holding and your hands touched. you quickly pulled back and muttered a sorry, finally looking into his eyes.
unexpectedly he looked at you too, he smiled and handed you the bowl. “here,” “thanks,” you responded and grabbed some popcorn. it was still awkward though, until the remote accidentally dropped onto the floor and both you reached for it. it had gone right under your feet and when you went to pick it up, he did too. he grabbed it first but then looked up at you.
your faces were so close. you could feel his buttery popcorn breath on your face. you saw his light freckles scattered across his face and just noticed how long his eyelashes were. neither of you blinked once. your lips were so close to his, if you said one word they probably would’ve touched but you didn’t dare to.
he didn’t either, he was thinking the same thing and you could tell when he looked down at your lips and back into your eyes. before anyone could do anything or say anything you heard mike’s mom tell from upstairs, “y/n, your mother’s here!”
you hurriedly pulled away and let him pick up the remote while you grabbed your bag and ran up the stairs. you noticed mike barely moved but didn’t give him another glance and opened the white door to get to the first floor.
your breath was heavy and it felt so light, it didn’t feel hot anymore once you walked out into the cool air. what if you stayed for another minute, would he have kissed you? would he be the first to pull away or make a move? you thought about what would’ve happened but could only imagine since the moment was unfortunately over.
2. during the slow dance at the snow ball
the music was loud, almost blasting into your ears. you sat on the bleachers to the sides of the dance floor which was the middle of the room. you didn’t feel so excited or happy like the rest of the school, you were sat on a bleacher with a cup of weird colored punch sitting beside you.
occasionally you would get up from your seat to get a refill or a small snack but other than that, this was going to be all for the night. or so you thought. as you got up to get another drink, someone was in your way.
it was none other than mike wheeler. “oh hey mike,” you greeted, the lip gloss on your lips clearly showing under the bright lights. “how are you enjoying the dance so far?” he asked and walked with you to the tables where the food was all set up.
“it’s okay i guess, nothing special and the gym smell is kinda getting to me,” you joked and refilled your cup. he lightly laughed at your joke, never taking his eyes off of you smiling. the lights made you look ten times prettier than you already were, making mike’s eyes stay on you. “wanna dance?” he proposed with a hand in front of you to hold.
he looked at him and put down your cup at the table, nodding and agreeing, “sure why not.” you took his hand and he pulled you to the dance floor where max and lucas already were. before the two of you could embarrassingly jam out to whatever pop music playing, the music instantly changed to a slow song. great.
the mood changed. every couple around you guys started holding hands and moving side to side to the music. you stood in the middle of the room with mike still holding your hand. both of you were a little confused and didn’t know what to do next until max and lucas made a little signal of ‘just dance jesus!’ which made you out your hands on his shoulders and his on your waist.
you didn’t know how to dance with a partner and to music like this so you just swayed to the music like the rest of the couples which mike caught onto. he followed and stared at you causing butterflies to develop in your stomach. you felt their little wings brushing against the walls of your stomach.
your cheeks heated up a little and you moved your hands to his neck. you looked away first since you didn’t want him to notice that you blushed. he also looked away once you did but kept moving along with the music. the grip he had on your waist got firmer and he pulled you in a bit, forcing your faces to come close.
him pulling you in made you look at him again, sparkling brown eyes facing yours. you felt as if you were going to faint. you never thought about mike’s looks at all! and here you were staring in awe at his handsome features almost glowing in this fluorescent spotlight. your hands were suddenly clammy and you held them together behind his neck so he didn’t notice how nervous you were at the moment.
when the song was coming to an end, gradually the two of you had gotten closer and closer together. almost foreheads touching, your lips parted. you wanted to say something but not to ruin the moment so you didn’t. instead he parted his lips and mumbled a compliment, “you look really pretty.”
you smiled brightly after his sentence and you could tell he was glad that you were happy. but before he could pull any other moves, the song ended and your friends pulled each of you apart to dance to the upbeat songs. neither of you brought up that small moment the two of you shared later that night, ever again.
3. when the starcourt mall fire ended
billy had been possessed by the mind flayer but it appeared that he had broken out of his trance and he stepped in front of el to save her from being killed by sacrificing his own life. he was stabbed multiple times leading to somewhat of a short death that left max screaming after him when it happened. you closed your eyes at the painful sight of him being murdered in such a cruel way. he was an asshole for sure after tormenting max and the rest of your friends but the death was unbearable to watch.
you especially felt bad for max, as soon as it was safe to get near billy she sat beside him where you heard him mutter an apology. you heard the police approaching and the sirens blared as you exited the mall. you didn’t even know where the rest of your friends were, scattered along the mall.
you were only with el and max so you searched around for everyone, specifically mike. you worried that he was hurt. what if the mind flayer had killed mike? the thought crossed your mind a hundred times until you saw him sitting in one of the ambulances with a blanket. you limped out of the mall since you twisted your mall, running from the russians earlier.
he spotted you, slowly approaching him in your dirty clothes and injuries. he didn’t waste a second running towards you. he came and hurriedly asked if you were okay repeatedly. “i’m fine don’t worry, just a few small injuries,” you reassured him. you pulled the blanket over your shoulders and put his hands on both your shoulders.
for a moment he just looked at you, examining your face for any cuts or bruises. but then pulled you closer and put his arms around you, “i thought you were dead, you scared the living shit out of me y/n!” you closed your eyes tightly and put your arms around his waist. then once you both pulled away from one another there was just a split second where your lips touched. it wasn’t a kiss but it wasn’t a lie that your lips brushed past each other when separating.
you wanted to kiss him and he did too. he leaned in, so close that you felt obligated to stop breathing so you could kiss him. “y/n! mike!” lucas shouted from behind. he ran up and hugged the both of you. clearly cockblocking
the day you left for california
after everything that went on at the starcourt mall, your parents decided to move to california from indiana. joyce sort of adopted el and the byers were moving to california too. you tried to stop your eyes from watering as you put the last box into your car. mike put your backpack into the back seat of your car and closed the door.
the two of you then helped the byers clear out their house. you and will had always been neighbors so your moving trucks were right beside each other and everyone came out to help you guys pack. after everything was all set and ready, the parents said their goodbyes and got into the cars which left the kids. all of you stood in a small circle, wondering who was going to be the first to speak up.
eventually there were hugs and crying all around, max, you, and el hugging and saying to always call and write. lucas, dustin, will, and mike giving their last hugs. you then turned around to see mike. “you know, i’m really going to miss you,” he started, with a folded up note in his hands. he fiddled around with it until handing it to you and whispering, “open it when you get there.” just as he was about to step away you pulled him back towards you and kissed him.
his eyes were wide open in surprise but he didn’t pull away. his lips were soft and had almost a sweet taste to it, like he just ate rocky road ice cream which he probably did. your lips matched his like a puzzle piece creating a nice picture. he gradually closed his eyes and brought you closer, gripping onto your waist as you held his face.
“keep it pg please!” lucas yelled as max made a throw up noise. the two of you finally pulled away with a small laugh at their jokes. a tear rolled down your cheek as you opened your eyes to see his face.
“i promise to call,” mike whispered, stilling tightly holding onto your waist. “and i promise to write,” you responded and embraced him one last time, you held onto him as long as you could but both of you knew it was your time to go.
unfortunately, that was the last time you ever heard or said anything to mike. no calls and no letters, only the one he handed you the day you left. you repeated the words he wrote about a million times by now.
“dear y/n,
by the time you read this, you’ll be all settled in your new home in california. i hope you’re doing well and it’s not too hot there. i know you’ll make a lot of new friends and meet different people but don’t forget about us back in small town hawkins. californians might be cool and all but can they play dnd for four consecutive days? didn’t think so. i miss you already and hope we can meet soon, it’s not such a long plane ride and when break comes back around, i’ll make sure to beg my parents to let me go. also if you find another party down there, i give you my permission to join them, they can never beat us but they can sure try. anyway, i’ll call and write as long as you do the same and don’t be afraid to try new things.
(p.s. please don’t find a boyfriend there, because i like you)
love, mike”

Poor Brazilians Would Need to Live Nine Generations to Reach the Middle Class
Social mobility in Brazil is one of the most restricted in the world, according to a study
Tumblr media
One of the greatest pride of Adalberto Gonçalves Júnior, 36, is seeing his son Jhonatan, 15, studying at Colégio Mackenzie, one of the most traditional schools in São Paulo.
Júnior's pleasure is not restricted to the fact that his only son is studying at a prestigious institution. It's because, when he was Jhonatan's age, Júnior lived close to Mackenzie's – but on the street. Today, alongside his wife, Joyce, 34, he runs his own street food business.
The example of the former homeless person who became a businessman is a very rare case in the Brazilian social pyramid. According to a study by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), Brazilians who are among the poorest 10% of the population would take nine generations –or 180 years– to reach the middle class in the country.

Byler Analysis
This focuses mostly, but not only, on Mike Wheeler, because he's my favorite character who just deals with internalized homophobia (me fr).
I'm doing this episode by episode, starting from Season 1, ofc.
The time stamps on this episode are kind've iffy, just a few seconds off but the events I talk about happen at around the time that I put in, it should get more accurate as you go along, my phone was bugging out.
Also, please, I know some things might be stretches, but I truly believe almost everything has signuficance in this show, I payed attention to small details, like posters and pictures, I probably didn't even catch all of the hints, but anyways, I hope you enjoy this!
Season 1
Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers
(01:50) The boys are playing Dungeons and Dragons, it foreshadows Wills disappearance
(02:10) I noticed stalkerish camera work on Mike, it happens a lot to Will before he disappears, as well as Nancy when she sees the demogorgan, it's like we're looking through the demogorgans eyes, but why do we see this with Mike? I see @lesbianmindflayer talk about this on her YouTube channel, but I didn't know that it started as early as episode one, literally two minutes in. It kinda makes sense for Mike to be a Vecna victim, especially because he's close to the two people that Vecna is after, Will and El. I suggest you watch "Why Mike Wheeler is Vecna's next victim (theory)" and "Who or What is watching Mike Wheeler? Compilation Reference." both by @lesbianmindflayer on YouTube.
(02:30) 13 is usually associated with being unlucky, and it is also associated with evil, but in this scene, it is good if Will rolled a 13 or higher, but no, he rolls a 7, which is associated with godliness and religion, but in this scene, it is bad. This may not be referencing anything in future seasons, and it may not be important, but it is quite interesting to me how they kinda reversed the meanings of the numbers.
(02:50) Random Pizza box, I'm pretty sure it reads "Pizza One", could be referencing Season 4?? I also think the way everyone panics and looks for the dice is a reference to how just like the dice went missing, Will did too. There's also a small poster on the wall on the right hand side of this scene, it shows a rainbow poster with a heart, now, Mike obviously is "the heart", according to Will.
(03:24) This is kinda far fetched but the guy on the TV looks awfully similar to Billy
(03:30) lot's of bird imagry, not sure what this means, but we see a specific owl picture multiple times in this Season, we also hear random Owl noises sometimes in this Season for like no reason whatsoever
(03:51) Another bird picture on the wall, I'm also pretty sure that "stranger things on stage", a canonical stage play, used a bird symbol on stage. They're trying to tell us something, I know it. (I think I'm going crazy help lol)
(04:20) More stalkerish camera work on the entire party, we see Wills bike for the first time in the show, which is very significant, as it is in every stranger things poster with Will, even if it's not quite in place, and we hear his bike sound repeatedly in Season 4, Will's bike is associated with trauma, I'm pretty sure. @willbyersabyss has a post about this, I think!
(04:32) Will tells Mike that he rolled a 7 and that the demogorgan got him, obviously foreshadowing his disappearance.
(04:46) Stalkerish camera now only on Mike, as the light flickers. Bro even looks up like "huh?" (CONFUSED MIKE). Anyways #flickergate PLEASE.
(05:34) X-men 134, I'm pretty sure this comic focused on Jean Grey (homophobic queen/j), which most likely represents El. It also foreshadows both Will and El's story line in this season.
(05:55) We see Will riding his bike home, with his yellow bike light reflecting onto the ground. Might be a reference of him being stuck in the upside down, and also him being the one to communicate with Joyce through the lights. Ah, we finally see the 'demogorgan', which is actually, most likely Vecna, and we hear Will's bike sound for the first time. From here on, we see the same stalkerish camera work used on Mike, now being used on Will. We also see Will's dog barking, and the same thing happens to Max.
(08:15) FINALLY. Eight One Five. No - Eight Fifteen. The exact moment when Will Byers goes missing. This timestamp is brought up in season 2, along with an addition the the sound track, "Eight Fifteen". Ha. Anyways, I actually really don't know if they're gonna do anything with these numbers, but if they do, I really wanna know what. Also, can we talk about the way in which Will goes missing? It zooms in on the light, the light turns extremely bright, and then he's just, gone? That's not what happened to Max when she got Vecna'd, her body was still here. And when the Hawkins gang went into the upside down, they had to go through the gate, they didn't just disappear into thin air. Something weird happened with Will. That's why we don't see it, and instead see the lights. Also, we never see Will talk about it ever again??? He may have forgotten his trauma, like El, as a coping mechanism, but it's just so weird to me, weird how he knew to talk to Joyce with the lights, weird how he knew to sing his favourite song, weird how he was kept alive for what, 2 weeks without food and water? Whilst barb died immediately as she entered the upside down. Weird how the upside down is literally stuck on the day that Will went missing. Weird how El literally knew him and pointed to his picture even though she never met him before. Just, all a little weird.
(11:33) Dragon poster on Will's wall, possible reference to season 4 painting.
(12:10) Mike puts syrup on his eggs, so does Will (well, in season 3, whilst he's talking about how he's not gonna fall in love). Mike is also wearing a shirt with blue and yellow stripes.
(12:55) Mike is the only one who seems worried about Will, it hadn't even been established that Will was missing, but he's still worried because he can't see his best platonic buddy.
(13:15) Mike is called "frogface", a reference to season 4 and also kermit the frog, a reference to basically the whole suzies house scene, a very, very gay scene for Mike, but we'll get to that when the time comes.
(13:48) Makes Dustin feel better about the bullying by comparing him to someone with superpowers, Mr Fantastic (cause he can stretch and stuff get it, well done Mike). I think this can be taken back to El, with superpowers, Mike only begins to show that he likes her when he realizes that she knows where Will is, and that she has cool powers that could help with finding him. As soon as he thinks Will is dead, he gets mad at her (for basically no reason). In fact, before he realized that she could help, he was making plans to send her back to where ever she came from lmfao, he didn't care, he was trying to be nice. El also literally told Mike in season 4, "the way you were looking at me, I felt like a monster." Whilst Will said in the van, "you make her feel like she's good for being different-" a completely contradiction to what El told him, which is why I truly think Mike knows that Will was projecting, just a lil, because most of the stuff Will was saying was contradicting El's statements. Mike literally says in his monologue, "You're my superhero." But she's not, she's not his superhero and she doesn't want to be either, that's why El feels that way, she doesn't want to be something she's not, and Mike doesn't have to be something he's not either. Anyways, we'll come back to this in the Season 4 analysis.
(17:48) Joyce says "He's a sensitive kid." A direct parallel to Vecna as a child, which is why I think Will has something Vecna wants, why Will was kept alive, because he's just like him.
(17:52) We understand that when Joyce said "different", she meant queer. And Hopper even asks, "is he?", and Joyce is like "are you serious rn bro", but I think Hopper is kinda right, he thinks Will might've been hatecrimed for being gay, that's how bad these situations can be.
(18:20) Joyce says "what about the other time, the one, the one!" could be a reference to 001/Vecna.
(18:25) Another reference to a bird, an owl, to be specific, and again, we hear Owl noises a lot this season.
(21:20) We see El for the first time, my pookie.
(22:52) First interaction we see with El and another person, that person calls her a boy, she's literally always called a boy this season it's not even funny anymore, Mike Wheeler I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE. What is bro even hiding at this point.
(23:14) We see 'boy' behind Mr Clarke on the board, idk what this means here but we see this A LOT with Mike in season 3 and season 4
(25:40) 'Castle Byers' is painted in yellow whilst behind the structure of the castle is blue
(26:00) We see a tiger in castle byers, reference to season 4 poster that says "freshmen love their tigers" (💀). We then see a lot of Tigers in Will's room at California, and Mike is a freshman...
(34:56) Mike does to El in season 4 when they're eating what he does to his sister in season 1, a familial parallel, hinting that Mike loves El in a platonic way, but because of heteronormativity, he thinks that because El is a girl and he's a boy that he has to like her in a romantic way.
(36:25) Ted makes a homophobic comment and Mike immediately is defensive. He says that he's the only one that cares about Will, which, isn't really true, I mean, Joyce, Jonathan, Lucas, Dustin? Do they not exist? So Ted says, "We care." Which, again, maybe they do,but no one loves Will as much as Joyce and Mike do in this season, yes, other people care, but clearly, love outshines all of them, so, Mike is using "care" as a cover up for "love", obviously he'll get mad that no one gets it, because he cares, but in a different way.
(45:57) Mikes torch, which was once yellow (Wills colour) before, turns purple (Els colour).
(46:00) Mike meets El, she's wearing a yellow shirt, Mike literally could not give a shit, he looks confused, even slightly angry that El is not Will, but again, mostly confused, like, why is there a random person in the woods what is going on. And in the next episode, he's mostly worried about sending her home, but again, yeah, I'll talk about that later lmaoo.
I hope you liked this pookies, I'll do episode 2 tomorrow.
