Trying hard to find my previous love for drawing >.>
So I’ve sketched two new alien ocs, remembering how much I adored creating alien races and making tons of ocs in our small universe

World governments are treating their subjects with utter contempt. New oversight for humanity by extraterrestrial entities would be deemed a rescue mission at the moment.

Me when i wanna create a cat race that doesn't fall into "fanservice ximbo cats" or "enemies of mankind and evil overlords"
Anyways who wants to hear about my children who evolved from the analog of terrestrial, extinct Homotherium thanks to polydactyly and living in packs

The N'kapshad (Artwork by Yuujinner)
Domain: Anomalocytes
Kingdom: Paranimalia
Phylum: Dendropleurida
Class: Coptognatha
Order: Tachyodonta
Family: Cryptostomidae
Subfamily: Cryptostominae
Tribe: Cryptostomini
Genus: Cryptostoma
Species: C. akatlingensis ("hidden mouth from Akatling [a word for the N'kapshad homeworld, Trepawh'k!lai, in one of their native languages]")
Information:
In the far-flung corner of the known universe sits a roughly Mars-sized planet called Trepawh’k!lai (pronounced roughly like /tɹε.pawʰ.ʔ.kǃə.lai/). With Earth-like gravity, its organisms take on many familiar shapes. However, a closer look at their molecular composition, as well the atmospheric composition of the planet itself, reveals a far more alien nature. Argon makes up a large portion of the planet’s atmosphere, and its indigenous lifeforms are primarily silicon-based, though several also contain carbon compounds as well. Many of the planet’s lifeforms reproduce by budding, and sexual reproduction is actually a minority method of reproduction, even amongst its most complex lifeforms. Much of the planet is covered in subtropical marshlands and shallow seas, its days over 43 hours long and its years 563 days in length. This planet is relatively young for a life-bearing planet, and it is believed that large terrestrial lifeforms may have only emerged within the last 10 million years (it can essentially be thought of as an analogue to Earth during the late Devonian). The N’kapshad, this planet’s only known indigenous sophont, are one of these few terrestrial pioneers.
------
The N’kapshad are a rare oddity amongst the known sophonts of the universe in that they are effectively uncontacted by any known intergalactic agency, their technology barely surpassing that of Mesolithic humans and their languages only being attested to by a few words for local lifeforms and land formations. Having descended from recently aquatic, crab-like ancestors, the N’kapshad are some of the few large, primarily terrestrial animal analogues on their planet, though they still retain the ability to breathe and move underwater with relative ease. What we perceive as their “head” is actually a modified sex organ, containing both the male and female organs, surrounded by several pairs of eyes and powerful jaw-like structures called sheathes. The actual mouth sits under the base of the “neck”, resembling a small groove. As the “neck” is thin and flimsy, the “head” bears a lightweight, cloak-like shield made of platelets to protect it. The first two sets of limbs have been modified into rudimentary, semi-opposable hands. Though the eyesight of this species is not known in great depth, scientists believe that they can see UV light as well as the range of color humans are able to see, the four tendril-like prongs near their neck serving as a means of identifying one another based on minute color differences. Societal structures amongst the N’kapshad appear to be quite primitive, consisting of a small family unit composed of an older mated pair and several generations of offspring. The reproductive biology of this species is not known in great detail, beyond the fact that they are known to be simultaneous hermaphrodites, but it is believed that they are ovoviviparous and obligate sexual reproducers, making them in the minority amongst their planet’s indigenous lifeforms. Their dietary preferences are also largely unknown, though remains from possible trash heaps suggest they are primarily scavengers and opportunistic carnivores, preferring to scare away predators from their kills and take whatever’s salvageable while also occasionally hunting smaller organisms themselves.
The religious traditions of the N’kapshad are perhaps the only thing known about them in depth: primarily animists in nature, their beliefs center around a pantheon of nature deities. Of these deities are two prominent ones found across most N’kapshad religious traditions: a patron earth deity named Dorog, who is said to have raised the earth from the sea and given the N’kapshad the ability to breathe air after the ocean became crowded and nations began infighting, suggesting the possible existence of another sophont species on the planet in the distance past, and a chaos deity variously named either Kel or some variation of Drung/Dreng/Drang, who is often referred to by the moniker of “The Great Typhoon”, a nod to the form which the N’kapshad believe this deity takes most frequently. The central dogma of N’kapshad beliefs focuses on an eternal balance in which order cannot exist without chaos, life cannot exist without death, and day cannot exist without night. Per this model, everything in the world has a push-pull dynamic in which one force exerts pressure on the other and vice versa, creating an infinite feedback loop. As such, it is not uncommon for N’kapshad religions to focus on the idea of the world being created anew each morning and being destroyed each evening, with Kel/Drung also embodying the night itself. Because of how spread-out the N’kapshad appear to be on their home planet, the shared pantheon between several N’kapshad folk religions is not believed to be a result of prolonged contact, and is instead believed to either suggest a shared proto-religion or a very recent date of divergence from an ancestral species.

Species: Empfrore Homeplanet: Brumjökull Life-Span: 60-70 Habitat: Tundra Diet: Piscivore Breeding: Sexual Reproduction Sexual Dimorphism: Empfrore look mostly similar to one another, but the men tend to have longer/larger beaks. Children can be hard to tell, as it takes till their teen years for their full beak size to grow in. Behaviour/Bio: Despite their cute appearances, Empfrore actually come from quite the hostile world. Full of predators, nasty weather, and generally not the best vacation spot for most, and so while the species is known to be kind, cuddly and loving, they are far more realistic and logical than many would guess when first seeing them. When they feel like they’re in danger, they will act without a second thought, running and hiding a natural instinct to them. They’re not necessarily a species that is always scared or tense, just more so they’re so use to living in such a place that it’s natural for them to be on the move always, and being resourceful. This does also lead to a hoarding habit for them, collecting food, trinkets, tools and anything they deem useful, nesting with it. They are also very family oriented, living in groups and find it easy to communicate with each other, leading to them being quite friendly to other alien races as long as you show you aren’t a threat. Their view on tragedies can also seem off putting to most, as they seem to get over destruction and death pretty quickly. Don’t get them wrong, it’s sad to go through such things, but they have to follow the hustle and bustle and don’t live in the moment. Always looking towards the future and how they can live another day. So they can seem rather forward and out there with their opinions about such topics, but due to their friendly nature they are strange to have any conversation with. Abilities: Ice Trail - As their main ability, they are able to create a path/slide of ice under them that they slip and slide across with, that is also decently sturdy. They can use it to go up, down, side to side, and works with most surfaces, even water. They can even create a spiral effect going upwards if they just spin in a circle. Ice Beak - Their beak is entirely made of ice, and is decently sharp, mostly used to catch food, but can damage foes in a fight. They can also crack it open to reveal the inside of their mouth, allowing them to eat food when feeling safe. And similar to their ice trail power, their beaks can generatore some ice when tapping it on something, like freezing someone’s foot when dashing by. Cold Resistance - Because of the harsh environment they live in, they evolved to resist very cold climates, whether that be deep under arctic waters, or a thick blizzard. Winter is basically just home for them, and they never feel bothered by it. Swimming - Despite their body shape, they’re natural swimmers too. Perhaps not the fastest, but they are agile and good at reflexes. Their ice powers also work under water, and can be used alongside their swimming. Night Vision - Since they’re used to living in an arctic environment, the dark comes naturally with them. They’ve developed a night vision gaze to help them late at night, deep in dark waters, or during snow storms to find their way around. Weaknesses: They do not do well in hot temperatures or around fire, their thick blubber bodies make them struggle in the heat, or can melt their ice. Without their ice, they aren’t that fast on their own when on land. They’re not entirely designed to attack, more so do chip damage, distract or flee. While they can live outside of their environment for a while, they do need to refresh themselves with cold air, ice and sometimes water from time to time.
