this panel from the world guide of falin being surrounded by other girls while laios is all alone kills me because. that's it. that's the key difference in their journeys.
as laios states himself, he left the village in order to create a home for him and falin elsewhere. a home that won't collapse due to others' hatred and fears like their old home did, a home where they are loved and accepted unconditionally. but as he soon found out, even before earning money, or having walls surrounding him and a roof above his head- what he so earnestly desired was to meet other people who will accept him for who he is as well. instead, he kept being tormented by those around him, shunned and sneered at. his loneliness quickly became all-consuming until he truly had nothing left except for the monsters in the pages of his book, but even that became a target of mockery and destroyed. that's why ever since the day he left the village, he never felt that he truly made the right choice. so he kept running away: unable to resist and unable to accpet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and an ocean away from him there was his sister, who never managed to fully fit in herself. but unlike him, she met a person who became a home to her and learned what a true friendship was for the first time in her life. and laios clearly realizes that too when he finally sees falin and marcille together, he can tell his sister obtained the greatest treasure there is on her own- the exact thing he never managed to find anywhere himself, thus coming back empty-handed to the sister he left the village for.
Tumblr media
but when you read this part of the manga, laios's focus is on falin's loneliness, not his own. he talks about how it hurts thinking about all those moments she had to spend alone because he wasn't there for her, so it almost sounds like he's the one who couldn't bear her suffering and therefore decided to not let her go again. but we do get a glimpse of their first meeting after that almost-decade long separation in the manga, and then we see more of that in the world guide and daydream hour- and it becomes abundantly clear that it was falin who was trying to protect and save him from this pit of loneliness and depression he was in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so instead of just doing his best to atone for leaving her behind in the village and making sure she is never lonely again, it might also be that laios was desperately clinging to the one person in the world he felt that accepted and loved him unconditionally. those words he used to describe his motivation to stay by falin's side are the exact words she would've used as well; she couldn't bear leaving him behind in this state. in a sense, they were each other's shackles.
but then she did. she died for him and their friends, and ironically enough, it was by leaving him alone like this that he was finally able to stand on his own and put his full trust in others. to have the courage to reveal who he is and give others the opportunity to accept him after such a long time of hiding. it was a long journey, but his hiding finally came to an end when he faced the others after shedding his monster form. and i love that the person who was falin's "home" all those years away from laios, marcille, became just as meaningful to him during their time separated from falin- the first one to find him and show him that he isn't alone anymore. just as he did for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so at the end of the story when falin talks about all the places she would like to go, it's not just that she wants to pursue her own dreams- but that she actually feels free to do so and go anywhere she desires. and one of the main reasons for that is that her brother finally found new people he wants to be with; his own home.

she wanted him. and he wanted her too. he just refused to let his desires give in to save face.
and she hated it so much. she hated that she saw him as someone else’s younger sister and nothing else.
she hated that she was even related to christian horner of all people. she usually didn’t care about christian— she had no reason to dislike him as he’d been nothing but a caring brother. she just hated that toto wolff saw her as nothing but an extension to christian’s surname.
she supposed that’s what would happen as she entered the motorsports industry later than he did. it wasn’t her fault that christian was twenty years older than her.
it wasn’t his fault either. but to be told that you were off limits to every single man in the grid and every team? she loathed her brother so much.
because amongst those men that christian horner had warned, the mercedes amg team principal became the subject of her interest— and her desire for him grew as her brother and toto wolff became friends outside of their teams.
“you don’t have to mix business with pleasure,” she almost scoffed when christian told her about his friendship with toto.
how hypocritical, she thought, because even i’m not allowed to see drivers or staff outside of business hours for ‘pleasurable’ reasons.
at the age of 30, many would’ve expected her to be shackled to some man outside of the industry— probably married to him with a child.
yet here she was, a single woman whose title as a test driver for red bull racing expired a few weeks ago. she appreciated the opportunity given by her brother— the team principal, really. but the longer she worked for his team the longer his big brother act would prevent her from wanting anyone.
and if christian told her that she couldn’t have anyone, then he too couldn’t have her intelligence that helped bring his team to success.
and when the rumours of her contract’s expiration went around the pit lane— every team scouted her. after all, this horner was an important asset to red bull’s success for this season and the season ahead of them.
she could’ve accepted scuderia ferrari’s offer. amongst the desperate teams that rolled the red carpet for her, the scarlet team offered her a large sum of money. they wanted her knowledge in car development as much as they wanted her expertise in driving.
yet she didn’t choose the money. instead, she found herself sitting across from the mercedes team principal. why?
“you’ve been looking well,” toto started, his eyes trained on her as he spoke, “did your brother’s team stress you out that much?”
“being in that team is stressful, alright,” she scoffed, earning a deep chuckle from toto as she continued, “30 years old and i’m still being treated like i’m sixteen. all they wanted was my brain— yet my brother kept me on a tight leash as if i didn’t know any better outside this industry.”
“so now you’ve decided to let your contract expire,” toto said with a nod of understanding. “he can’t do so much about it. you’re a free woman.”
“i’ve always been,” she gave him a grim smile and quipped, “all the men in our business just refused to believe that because of who my brother was.”
“you were a younger woman,” toto said with a gulp, “it was only right of christian to protect you like he did.”
“and five years later, i’ve grown,” she bit back.
“you are still his younger sister,” toto reasoned. he knew where the younger horner was getting at here.
there was an unspoken agreement between the two that they wanted each other. they’ve agreed on it during dinners, during their family vacations and during those days when toto wolff was invited into christian’s home and she was there too.
they’ve always agreed on it. yet toto was letting her down like this— like the agreement should remain unspoken and unheard of.
“are you seriously going to let his stupid mouth and his whole big brother act dictate what you want, toto?” she asked with a hint of irritation in her tone. “i’m not christian— and he’s not me because he doesn’t know how much you fucking want me. and i do. i do understand.”
“i allowed myself a couple of months— months to decide on whether or not i was going to stay in his team,” she continued. “i could’ve signed before the season was over but i didn’t. because this gives me the chance to work with your team— to work with you.”
“this,” she pointed at the contract in front of her. “gives me the chance to make you realize that i’m not just an extension to your friend’s name. that your feelings for me shouldn’t be deterred by your friendship with my brother— who i want nothing to do with because it’s not his life that’s being put on hold. it’s mine.”
she let out a heavy sigh and chuckled humourlessly. “but i suppose we shouldn’t mix business with pleasure.”
he merely stared at her as she stood up. she flashed him a smile as if she hadn’t just gone off and berated him for listening too much to christian.
then she said, “i’ll come back next week. i’m expecting the contract agreement to be modified by then so we can finalize the deal.”
yeah, who the fuck was christian for him to dictate who she wanted and who toto wanted?
the door slammed shut as she turned around, the gap between her and toto was little to nothing as his breath fanned across her face. he dipped his head and captured her lips in a lustful kiss.
she almost moaned at the feeling of his tongue tangling with hers. her body burned in desire as she craved for more.
toto wanted more too, and she could tell that by the way he ravaged her without hesitation.
Tumblr media
his office at the factory was filled with nothing but silent screams and sounds of low growl and skin slapping. everybody had left hours before she arrived at the factory.
thankfully the mercedes staff wouldn’t have to hear their employer fucking the most scouted talent at the pit lane right now— and even if they did, it was in their best interest to keep their mouth shut about it.
but toto and the woman couldn’t find themselves to care at the moment, both were too drawn to each other as toto’s cock thrusted into her deeply.
she held into the leather couch and cried quietly, tears threatening to fall from the pleasure that she felt when his cock continued to rub against the sensitive spot that nestled inside her cunt.
“fuck, schatz,” toto hissed from behind her, pulling her back against his chest as he wrapped his hand around her neck and squeezed it lightly. she gasped, catching the last of her breath before he let go and kept his hand around her.
then his other hand took hers and placed her palm flat against her stomach, making her squirm and moan. “do you feel that, liebling? that’s my cock. such a filthy girl- wanting a big cock inside this little pussy of hers,” he chuckled darkly as he continued to fuck her.
she loved the feeling of it— his cock buried in her cunt while he manhandled her body. the constant protrusion in her stomach drove her wild. she had always known that toto was taller and bigger than most— she just hadn’t expected to crave for more when she felt her lower stomach bulging as he fucked her.
“so desperate f’me,” he muttered, bottoming out inside of her as she whined. her whining subsided when he squeezed her throat again.
“ah shit~” she gasped breathlessly, feeling the pressure around her neck increasing as her eyes rolled back in pleasure.
“so fucking tight,” toto grunted in her ear, nipping on it as he continued to fuck her relentlessly. “is this what i’ve been missing out on, then? your desperation for me and for my cock, hm?”
and when his grip loosened, she let out a sigh and quietly whimpered, “yes— wanted your cock so bad, toto.”
“you’ve got it now, schatz,” he muttered, moaning at her walls throbbing around him as he continued, “i fucked my cock at the thought of you, you know? wanted to fuck you so bad as much as you wanted me.”
“stroked my cock when you wore those short dresses,” he taunted, earning a whimper from her as she continued to listen to his filthy words, “wishing it’s your hands. i could just hear your voice telling me how your hands couldn’t even wrap themselves around my cock- you are so small in comparison to me— i can’t believe this cunt of yours could even fit all of me.”
“toto, i- i,” she whined, “‘m- ah, hah~ ‘m gonna cum.”
“i know, liebling,” his thrusting became frantic as he chased his high and hers. “i can feel your cunt around me— you’re about to cum aren’t you?”
“mhm— toto pleaseee~” she cried out, “please cum inside me.”
“yeah? you want me to cum inside you?” he hummed in pleasure, “do you want me to fuck this pussy of yours ‘til you’re full of my cum?”
“ye- yes, yes!” she exclaimed, mewling as she continued to plead, “‘s so- so good. so fucking good— please fill me up!”
“how bad do you want it?” he could feel himself nearing his orgasm as well, but he couldn’t help himself. “tell me. how bad do you want it, liebling?”
“soooo bad~ god! toto,” she sobbed.
“it’s just me, liebling, there’s no need to call me god,” he chuckled one last time as he groaned loudly, feeling her spongy walls clenching around him as she let out a loud whine. “fuuuuck~ schatz, i’m gonna— oh fuck!”
his cock twitched against her walls and painted them white, his thrusting slowing down as he let out a long sigh.
pulling out of her, toto sat on the couch and observed her tear stained face with a smile. his large hand pulled her body on his lap, hearing her breath quiver as she gathered her composure.
“this better not be the last time, toto,” she whispered in his ear, wrapping her arms around his neck with a soft sigh.
he chuckled quietly, “you’re working alongside me now, schatz. and you’re stuck with me outside of work. i know this isn’t the last time.”
don’t mix business with pleasure? sure.
after all, business brought stress. pleasure took the stress away.
toto knew that she’d be able to handle both. he was nothing but proud of her. he couldn’t believe that this resilient woman finally became his.
he wouldn’t let go of her that easily. not when he finally had her.

Search and Rescue
Sam and Dean Winchester & little sister!reader
Requested by anonymous
Synopsis: Sam and Dean’s 6 year old little sister gets kidnapped by demons
Tumblr media
“Hey N/N, we’re back!”
Dean’s words echoed through the empty motel room, and no answer came.
“Y/N? Honey, where are you?” Sam asked, doing a quick scan of the room. “She’s not here.”
“What?” Dean demanded, dropping his duffel bag and double-checking the small room.
“Dean, over here.” Sam’s eye had caught sight of something strange by the window.
Dean stepped up beside him and gritted his teeth.
“Sulfur.”
“What now?” Sam asked. “We’ve been gone for hours, who knows how long she’s been missing?” The boys almost never left you alone in a motel, but they’d just left for the morning to interview some survivors of what looked like a haunting.
“Now we find those demons and bring her back,” Dean growled, snatching up the demon knife and his bag before heading out to Baby.
“So no plan? Great,” Sam huffed, but followed his brother regardless.
Meanwhile, you were in the next state over from your brothers, having been grabbed from your bed and thrown into the back of a van. You were currently chained up in a dark room, and you couldn’t make out more than a few feet in front of you. Your shackles were connected by a short chain to the ground, so you couldn’t take more than one step before they stopped you. You sat on the floor, your wrists raw from your attempts to free them. You gave up pretty quickly, it hurt too much and you were just too scared of what the demons would do if they saw you trying to escape.
One of them had already hit you, and you still didn’t know what they wanted. All you knew was that you had never been this far away from Sam and Dean, and you didn’t know what to do.
Two weeks. It took two weeks before the boys finally caught a break, and they were able to track demon activity that was mere hours from where you’d been taken.
Dean had never driven Baby so fast in his life.
Neither brother was willing to bring up the biggest likelihood; that you were already dead. After all, if the demons had kept you alive this long, why hadn’t they tried to contact the brothers for an exchange or something?
But this logical path was not one either boy was willing to go down, not yet or ever.
“I spot six, but there could be more inside,” Sam reported as he watched the warehouse for demon activity.
“Alright, let’s go,” Dean said, opening his door.
“Hold on, Dean we need a plan,” Sam insisted.
“I have a plan,” Dean replied before stepping out of the car and slamming his door shut.
“Get her back.”
You were used to hearing screams from where you sat in your little prison. The only difference this time was, that these weren’t your own.
You found the strength to lift your head wearily when the door to your prison scraped open, but you turned away instantly when the light from the other side nearly blinded you.
Involuntary whimpers escaped your lips when you heard the scratch of footsteps against the stone floor, getting inevitably closer. You cried out hands grabbed the sides of your face, and you struggled to get away.
“Hey, hey, Y/N it’s me!”
You froze, instantly recognizing the voice. Also, you noticed that the hands on you weren’t rough; he was cradling your face.
You blinked your eyes open, squinting against the light to see your big brother Sam.
You couldn’t speak, couldn’t move. All you could do was cry in relief as Sam picked the lock on your chains. The moment you were free, Sam had you in his arms, rubbing your back and whispering soothing reassurances in your ear.
“Y/N.” You looked up to see Dean standing in the doorway, relief lightening his features before he stiffened again. “C’mon, Sam we’ve got to get her out of here, there might be more.” Dean crouched a bit to look at you. “Baby, can you walk? We gotta go.”
You shook your head with a whimper, clinging onto Sam for all you were worth.
“It’s ok, I’ve got her,” Sam reached a hand to his belt to grab the demon knife. “You take this, lead us out of here.”
The three of you reached the Impala with minimal disruption, and you clung to Sam the whole way.
Sam didn’t bother trying to put you in the back seat, he just got into the passenger’s seat and sat you on his lap.
Dean started the car without a word, glancing anxiously around for any more demons as he sped off.
“Is she ok?” Dean demanded once he was sure you weren’t being followed.
“Give her a minute,” Sam said quietly, still trying to sooth you as you trembled in his arms.
“Sam, I need to know if she’s hurt,” Dean said as he white-knuckled the steering wheel, glancing at you every few seconds.
“Sweetheart,” Sam spoke softly as he pulled you back slightly so he could look at you. “Did they hurt you?”
You squirmed in his arms, trying to get closer to him. You nodded, and he relented, letting you squeeze closer to him.
“Where?” Dean asked, trying to keep his voice calm.
You didn’t respond.
“Honey, you can talk to me,” Sam said.
“I didn’t,” you mumbled.
“What?” Sam asked.
“I didn’t talk,” you said, and you started to shake even more in Sam’s arms. His heart broke at the sound of your cries as you struggled to speak. “They-they tried to make me-make me talk, but I didn’t.”
Sam’s haunted eyes met Dean’s. Their six-year-old little sister was tortured by demons for information, and she didn’t give in to protect them. Guilt didn’t even begin to describe what the brothers were feeling.
“What did they do?” Dean was struggling to get control of himself.
“They had a big knife,” you whimpered. You didn’t say anything more, and the brothers didn’t try to make you.
Sam carried you inside when you got to the motel, and Dean instructed Sam to find you some food while he checked your wounds. The last thing Sam wanted to do was leave your side again, but one look at your malnourished frame convinced him.
Dean peeled your sweat-soaked, torn, bloody clothes from your skin. He wet a washcloth with warm water and started to clean the blood off of you with a gentle touch, paying close attention to when you flinched or whimpered.
As soon as you were relatively clean, Dean grabbed disinfectant from the first aid kid and went to work on the many cuts scattered across your body. He was struggling to contain his rage with every new cut he found, but he knew that he had to to keep from scaring you even further.
You didn’t say a word while Dean worked, you just watched him with wide eyes, as if you still couldn’t believe he was there.
“Baby I’m so sorry,” Dean said finally. “We never should’ve left you alone.”
You seemed to mull his words over for a moment before disregarding them. You hadn’t even thought for a moment to blame your big brothers for the scary demons hurting you.
“De, did I miss Sammy’s birthday?” You asked instead, and Dean looked taken aback.
“Uh…no kiddo, it’s in a couple of days.”
“Can we get him a pie?” You asked hopefully.
Dean just nodded, unsure of how to deal with the change in conversation. The motel room once again fell silent as Dean carefully stitched up a couple of your worse cuts. He hated himself the whole time, especially when he saw how hard you tried—in vain—to keep from crying.
“All done,” he finally breathed, and he couldn’t tell who was more relieved; you or him. He helped you get changed into some clean clothes before letting you get settled in his lap. He held you close, just as unwilling as you were to let go.
He hadn’t even noticed that he’d started humming until he saw that you had stopped crying, soothed by the sound.
“I’m never gonna let anyone hurt you again,” Dean promised.
“I know,” you said with so much confidence that it reassured Dean almost as much as you.
“Hey guys,” Sam greeted quietly as he returned to the motel room. “How we doing?”
“I’m sleepy,” you mumbled.
“Do you think you can eat some of this before you sleep?” Sam asked, pulling out a takeout container of soup.
You nodded and let Sam carry you to the table before taking the spoon he offered.
“We should try to get her strength back up,” Sam said to Dean as the two watched you.
“With that?” Dean scoffed. “Get her some meat.”
“I wanted to start off with something light, since we don’t know when the last time she ate was,” Sam argued. That shut Dean up, as he imagined you locked in that tiny little room, starving.
“Can I go to sleep now?” You asked, and Sam stepped up and was surprised to see that you’d eaten nearly half of the soup.
“You bet, honey. You did good,” he praised, lifting you into his arms and carrying you to his bed.
You were asleep within minutes, and Dean settled himself on the very edge his own bed so that he could still be close to you and Sam.
“She asked if she missed your birthday,” Dean said quietly as he watched your stomach move up and down with your breaths. “She wants to get a pie.”
Sam smiled at you, brushing your hair out of your face.
“She always did love birthdays.”
“We can never slip up like that again,” Dean’s tone was suddenly serious. “She deserves so much better.”
“I know,” Sam kept his eyes on you, unable to look at his brother. Both boys were blaming themselves.
“Hey,” Dean sat up when he saw you start to twitch. “Is she—“
“No,” you whimpered, and your body started to squirm. “No, don’t!”
“Sweetheart, hey,” Sam reached his hand up and shook your shoulder. “Kid wake up.”
“No!” You cried, awakening with a start that almost had you falling off the bed. Sam held you in his arms to keep you steady.
“Easy, it’s ok honey. N/N I’m right here, I’m here.”
“Sammy?” You whimpered as you relaxed against his hold.
“Yeah, it’s me. Shh, it’s ok,” he soothed, rubbing your back as you began to cry.
“Here.” Dean reached for you, and Sam reluctantly gave you up to your oldest brother. “Hey, you’re ok baby, it’s Dean. How about you go back to sleep, ok? Me and Sammy are gonna chase away the bad dreams for you, how does that sound?”
You nodded, sniffling.
“Yeah, good.” Dean cradled your head in his hand, holding you close. “If you have another nightmare, I’m gonna be right here for you.”
“Ok,” you sniffled, relaxing once again. It only took a few short minutes before you were asleep in Dean’s arms, and the brothers relaxed at the peaceful cadence of your breaths.
“She’s ok,” Dean breathed, and Sam didn’t know who he was trying to reassure. Sam just nodded.
“She will be.”

Tumblr media
You thought you'd known violence, fear, and desperation. You were wrong. You'd never really felt those things. The feelings you'd previously called by those names do not compare to what you feel now, what you've been feeling for months.
You pulled your knees to your chest, blowing a puff of air out of your nose. You tried to focus on anything other than your husband, to no avail, only the sounds of your imprisonment to catch your attention.
The sound of chains scraping against stone echoed through the dingy cellar. The shackles on your wrists jangling as you hugged yourself tighter.
"I do not wish to hurt you, wife. I you just need to learn to behave. Will you behave for me, sweet girl."
You could hear the soft taps of Ominis' shoes. He was coming closer to you. You tried to move your head to face in his direction, Ominis let out a soft laugh.
"Wrong way. It's okay. You'll learn eventually. It'll take some adjustment. You've spent over two decades relying on your sight. It'll take some unlearning. My guidance. Let's play a game."
He crouched down next to you, his cold, slim fingers coming up to trace your cheekbone. You flinched away, cowering, preparing for the blow. You felt his fingers at your scalp, using a tight grip to yank you towards him.
"What did I tell you about trying to get away? Trying to escape again, wife?"
"No! I-I'm not, I swear." You choked on a sob, "Please, husband, I just - I thought -"
"Thought what?" Ominis' grip angled your head to face him, words forced through gritted teeth.
"You were going to hurt me again." Your voice was a whisper, but it still bounced off the stone walls, echoing down the empty hall.
Ominis only responded with a sigh, "Time for a game. " His hand was on yours, pulling your fist free. He hands you something, cool and solid, as your fingers wrap around the Hilt. "I can't trust you with a wand, unfortunately. But you're aware, by now, of course, your punishment. What are you holding, wife."
Yes, you knew your punishment. "A knife. It's required if I fail the game." Ominis cooed at you, pressing a chaste kiss to your forehead. You heard him retreating, but it was only seconds before you heard more footsteps around his.
"She looks quite pretty like this." Percival, you heard steps start to make their way towards you. "I'll break your hands if you touch her, brother." Ominis, your husband, ominis, ominis, omnis. Yes, no one can touch you but your sweet husband.
"Thank you, husband. I don't wish to feel any hands but yours." Two laughs, neither your husband. "You've broken her, little brother. Cowering like the bitch she is." Marvolo. Ominis hummed, "Not yet, but I will."
"The rules, wife." You could hear them walking, but you couldn't tell what steps belong to who. "Identify me." You couldn't pin his voice, it floated around the room, caressing your skin before flitting away. "If you get it wrong..." His voice trailed off
"Punishment." Your hands shook, fear had a hold on you so strongly you thought you might vomit. "Punishment." They all echoed and you could hear the barely contained excitement from Percival and Marvolo, even Ominis along with smug satisfaction.
They walked, moving around each other, to the left, to the right, forward, back a few steps. You tried to pick out Ominis, his footsteps have always been quiet, near imperceptible, but in this dank, dark place, all sound is amplified. You followed the softest steps, sure you'd have the correct answer.
They stopped, waiting for your anwser, saying nothing. "Ominis." You pointed, hand shaking, to the right.
"Wrong." Ominis voice came from your left. "Your eyes were trying to trail me the whole time, y/n. Would you like me instead of my uptight brother?" Percival's voice was mocking, but he would never touch you. Joke though he may and he would never admit this but he feared his younger brother.
He had been delighted when Ominis dragged you to Gaunt manor, the whole family had. Seeing Ominis get off his high horse and acknowledge his heritage was a treat for his siblings. After all that he had said to them, about them, for their dark magic, there he stood with his wife bound and gagged.
There he stood asking the assistance of the family he'd tried to denounce. The good Auror Ominis Gaunt and there he stood. But the delight had quickly turned to fear, Ominis was unhinged, violent at all moments. Threatening to do unspeakable things and to throw them in Azkaban if they spoke against him.
If you asked Percival, he'd say those aurors delight in violence even more than the Gaunts.
"Do it." Ominis' voice was cold, no trace of your loving Husband, though by now you'd come to understand that was a facade just as much as your feelings. Ominis didn't love you. He only wanted to possess you. You should have run with Sebastian. Once again, you have no idea where he is. After that night, you crawled back to your husband wracked with guilt.
You thought he deserved better and you were terrible for what you'd just done. You needed to make ammends, your happiness be dammned, you needed to be a good wife to Ominis, you needed to learn to love him. Something about that morning with him made you believe it was possible, until you let the words slip.
You wish you hadn't said them, perhaps he would have kept his secret. Perhaps you would have been able to go back to the way things used to be, the good auror and his good wife. But you said it, and he confessed, and there was no going back.
You were a smart girl, a talented, powerful witch. So you didn't respond to his confession, opting to act like you didn't really hear it and nuzzling into him. Laying in his arms until you were sure your husband slept. You got up quietly, making sure not to wake Ominis. You had dressed quickly, throwing together a small traveling bag.
You weren't sure what you'd do but you'd figure it out. Perhaps with Sebastian. You just needed to get out the door. But it didn't open and you used spell after spell trying to free yourself, to no avail.
Ominis had snuck up behind you, using your hair to yank you back, the tug so hard you dropped to the ground. He'd used your shock to his advantage, climbing on top of you, his hands at your throat. His fingers squeezing as you tried to claw at him. "You didn't really think you could leave me , did you?"
There had been black, you didn't know for how long but when you awoke you weren't in your warm safe home, you were in a place you'd never seen before. Ominis having a steady conversation with a man only a few years older than you. "Welcome to my childhood home, Wife." Gaunt manor.
You had started off in a bedroom, your whole life moved to this strange place. It was comfortable, you were cared for and had anything you could ask for. But you were trapped, under constant surveillance, never to leave the walls of the Manor.
The more you fought, teeth and claws, kisses and witt, it didn't matter. The more you fought, misbehaved, and tried to escape the less luxuries you had, the meaner your husband became. Soon your bedroom became a cellar, shackled to the wall by wrists and ankles. Soon the husband you'd known for eight years became a man you didn't recognize.
You take the knife, heavy in your palm. You take a steadying breath before pressing the blade into the flesh at your thigh. You suck in a breath as the tip digs in, a small bead of blood starting to well up. "How far?"
"Your knee." You didn't wait for further instructions, knowing if it looked like you were delaying the punishment would only increase. You pressed harder, bitting down so hard you thought your teeth might splinter. The knife tore through your skin as easy as butter, drawing a path of scarlet across the top of your thigh. "Good girl."
Your breathing was ragged as you wiped away the tears that had escaped. They were walking again. You had been so certain, you had no hope this round. How many rounds of this game do you have to play?
They stopped, waiting for your anwser, you had none. But before you could be told anything another pair of steps could be heard. A quick light patter of bare feet against stone. "He's here brother. He's here." A giggle, Drusilla.
"You're in luck, wife, your savior is here." You swore you could hear the smile in Ominis' voice. And for the first time in almost three months he was freeing you, restraints falling at your sides.
Ominis walked over extending a hand to pull you onto unsteady legs. But as soon you put weight onto your cut leg you lurched forward, grasping at Ominis to try and steady yourself on your good leg. The pain was too much for you to stand on. "You did a really good, my love." The arousal dripped from his words like honey.
His fingers trailed down your skin, finding the gash. He caressed to wound with gentle fingers, making you gasp. He collected the blood on the tips of his fingers, bringing them up to his waiting lips. "Fuck, you taste so good." He let out a soft groan. You could feel his growing hardness start to press into you.
"We shouldn't keep a guest waiting, brother." Drusilla's voice was giddy. Ominis only hummed in response, hooking an arm around your waist to support your weight.
The walk was grueling, your legs shook with every step and you tripped more times than you could count. You hadn't been anywhere near the stairs since he took your eyesight. You used your toes to try and feel around, but that didn't stop you from stumbling every other step. Ominis chastised you at every stumble, every wobble, and uncertain step.
Telling you how it wasn't that hard and if you didn't stop playing the stumbling fool, he'd make sure you had no feet to walk on. Every comment was joined by his siblings' laughter and comments of their own. How you should be better behaved. How ominis is a kind husband by not having punished you sooner. How he should take your feet, how he should let you kneel and crawl before him. It's your proper place, as his wife, as his property.
You never responded, only tighten your grip on Ominis and tried your best to walk on unsteady legs. Eventually, after what felt like hours, you stopped. You could hear the shuffling, the sniggers from all around you. "Just like you asked, Mr. Gaunt."
"Thank you, Floyd." You could feel the eyes watching you as the silence settled. "Mrs. Gaunt." You could hear the horror in the auror's voice. What you must look like to him. Broken, you suppose you must look broken. You only nod your head in his direction, you couldn't muster up the dignity to speak to him if you tried.
Shuffling and a door shuts. Steps circle the area around you, you hear a groan. "Look, wife."
"I-I can't." Perhaps not the best anwser but better than no response, Ominis has taught you that. He comes closer, his hands resting at your shoulders, clothed torso pressed against your bare back. "I got you a gift, wife. It's on the floor, go ahead and feel."
He was doing this to hulimate you further, you knew from the tone of his voice. You couldn't imagine what would be worse than all you have already endured. But none the less you did as he said, dropping to your knees. The action stretched the gash on your thigh, allowing the blood to flow fresh.
You felt along the floor with the palms of your hands, searching for what, you did not know.
"Y/n." A broken sob, horrified. You know that voice, it haunts you. "S-sebastian?"
You try and feel your way towards him, but his hand shoots out, fingers locking around your sore, chafed wrist.  He guided you towards him. You let your hands meet his skin, fingers uncertain in their path up his arm. You reach his shoulder, letting your hand linger for a moment. Afraid to feel his face.
The moment passes, your hands find him. His nose is broken, one of his eyes are swollen shut, fresh blood leaking from just above his brow. "What did they do to you?" Your voice is quiet, unsteady. Are you allowed to speak? Do you sound too concerned? Will Ominis be mad at your concern? Will he punish you? What will he do to Sebastian?
"What did he do to you." He was angry, his words venomous. "What did you do to her, Gaunt." Ominis scoffed, fingers wrapping in your hair to yank you back to your feet. "This woman is my wife, my property, I'm free to do with her whatever I please. And I have, not that it's any concern of yours, fugitive."
"She can't see me."
"She can't see anything you imbecile." Ominis sneered, "Fret not, Sallow, it's only temporary. I would never deprive my wife of seeing me forever."
"Dear sister, have the house elves bring tea and pasties. I wish to entertain my guest by the fire." Drusilla giggled, "Yes, Brother." Your head was pounding, your thoughts clashing around in your head like loose knives. You could barely make out Marvolo and Percival announcing their leave and telling Ominis to teach you and that animal a lesson.
They were gone, Ominis was dragging you by your arm, dragging Sebastian with a spell. All the way to the soft couches in front of the blazing fire place. He made Sebastian sit on one, he sat in the opposite one across, making you stand in the center.
"Come, wife." Another lesson you learned. On your knees once again, you felt your way across the carpet until you felt Ominis' shoes. You let you hand feel around his crisp slacks, adjusting to sit between his legs. Still on the floor, beneath him, not his equal. You don't deserve that, not after you betrayed him.
"Good girl." You felt Ominis' wand press to your temple, heard him whisper the incantation. And for the first time since you'd been moved to the Cellar, you slowly started becoming aware of your surroundings.
Your eyes burned, felt as if he'd stuck a hot poker in them rather than restoring your vision. Your hands shot up, plams digging in, trying to relieve the ache. Ominis fingers dug into your jaw cruelly, jerking you up to face Sebastian.
Sebastian didn't look at you, even through the fading haze and blur, you could see that he was looking at Ominis. "You never could commit." He jerked his head towards you. You looked up to see your husband's reaction, he only tilted his head in confusion.
"If you were gonna go through with this," he motioned at you with a dismissive hand, "you should have gone the whole way. Why carve up everything but her face?" Oh, right. You tried to forget. But just cause you haven't been able to see them doesn't mean they're invisible to everyone else.
"My sweet wife had a momentary loss of her sanity, she seemed to forget who she belonged to." Two house elves came scuttling in, heads bent in submission. They did their jobs quickly and quietly, setting down the trays of tea and still steaming pastries. Scurrying away quicker than they came.
"I had to remind her and anyone who looks at her. She's mine."
Sebastian scoffed, "You're such an insecure twat, you had to carve your name in a person. You do seem to be forgetting that, old friend. She is a person, one you claim to love and you did that to her."
"Were you not the one who had just suggested, I couldn't commit because I didn't carve up her face as well?" Sebastian didn't respond, "I'm sure you agree, Sallow. Her face is just too pretty to mark up."
"Tell me y/n." You were scared, terrified, Ominis had instilled that feeling in you. You felt it at all times, trembled when he called your name. But even those moments didn't compare to now, didn't compare to being in front of Sebastian. Ominis had finally found the one thing that could break you, through and through. The thing that could take your last miniscule bit of hope, of sanity and shatter it into a million irreparable pieces.
"Yes ... husband." You wanted to be the woman you were, the witch that had saved hogwarts at only fifteen years old. You wanted to be her, you needed to be her. For Sebastian if not for you. Merlin only knows what Ominis already had the Aurors do to him. Yes, you needed to be strong.
"Who do you belong to?"
"You, husband. I am your wife, Ominis."
"Can you prove it?" If only you'd been a legilimens. You had no idea what he meant, what he wanted. What would you have to do? How would you have to hurt? Hurting yourself, you could manage but not Sebastian, never Sebastian.
"Ask anything of me husband, and I'll deliver." You looked up at him, the world finally settling into place. He smiled down at you, petting the back of your head with a soft touch. The smile that graced his beautiful features, another would call it loving, sweet. But you know the truth, it was venomous, and he is a viper preparing to make the final strike.
"Come here, pretty girl." He pats his lap, certain in his movements. He knows you won't run, knows you won't deny him. He's right, of course. You climb on his lap gingerly, trying not to dirty his suit with the remnants of the cellar that cling to your skin.
You sit, facing him, pretending away Sebastian's presence. You wrap your arms around his neck, eyes tracing the curve of his lips. Viper, evil viper bastard. No, no. You're not allowed to think such things. Ominis will punish you. Be good, behave. Behave and he will be kind. He is your kind husband. Your good Auror.
"I've been working on her training, she's come far. I'm so proud of her." Ominis cooed at you, gentle fingers running over your cheek before pushing a lock of hair behind your ear. You looked down bashful at the praise, your hand falling to his shoulders, thumbs rubbing over his collar bones.
Loving, that's how it looks, how others would see it. But you know better. You're sure Ominis does as well. Your hands are twitching to wrap around his neck, twitching to wring the life from him. You would, if it were only you and Sebastian. But it's not and you wouldn't get far, you wouldn't make it past this room let alone out this manor.
You don't think they'd kill you, no, you've seen the way his brothers devour you with their eyes. And while Ominis may be evil, may have become your captor, your tormentor, an evil you know is better than one you don't. Ominis protects you from his family and for that at least, you're grateful.
He smiling at you, he's looks at you as if you're a goddess set before him, he's smitten, wholeheartedly devoted to you.  False, so gut-wrenchingly false. A devoted man, a devoted husband would never do what he's done to you.
Ominis takes his wand casting a spell towards Sebastian, you look back to see the blade edged wire wrap around him. Sebastian grunts, hands shooting up to stop the wire attempting to wrap around his throat. "Stop!" The word came out on its own, your mouth no longer under your control, "The more you struggle, the deeper it cuts." They were already burrowed into his warm tan skin, fresh blood welling up all over his body like a thousand rose blossoms.
Ominis fingers are on your jaw, pulling you back to face him. "Are you worried about him, Mrs. Gaunt." Dread, cold and heavy, settles on you. "I-I just don't... I-" You couldn't find the right words.
"You don't worry about other men." You nod, "Now you're going prove that you're mine. On your knees. Let's put on a show for out guest." You can't look back, you can't see Sebastian's face as you slide down, as you settle yourself between Ominis' legs. In a just a few months this has become a second nature, these movements have become instinct.
Your fingers are nimble, practiced as you undo your husband's slacks, allowing his already hard cock to spring free of the restricting material. "Don't degrade yourself like this. Why are you trying to please this bastard." Sebastian sounds hurt, you don't know it's for you as a person or if he sees this as another man sullying his property. Does Sebastian see you the same way Ominis does? Is he just another unknown evil? You're better off with the one you already know.
You wrap lips around his cock, tongue curling around the underside of his shaft drawing a groan from Ominis. He leans back, letting himself get lost in the pleasure. His hand softly stroking your head as you bob up and down. His chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. "Doesn't she look so pretty like this, Sebastian?"
He didn't respond, defiant. Ominis finds defiance unacceptable. You can't accio a person, that's a law of magic but you can accio something on that person. So none the less Sebastian was being dragged forward, forced to his knees beside you with just a flick of Ominis' wand.
You didn't look up at him, you couldn't. Couldn't look him in the eyes as you hollowed your cheeks around your husband's cock. "Tell my wife she looks pretty with my cock in her mouth." Still nothing, Sebastian refused to even look at you, his eyes trained to the ground.
Ominis scoffed, using your hair to pull you free of him. "I allow you the luxury of seeing my wife like this and you have the audacity to not even look at her." Ominis fingers were in Sebastian hair now, yanking his head back, wand trailing the hallow of his throat. "Tell me, Sallow, is she she only worth looking at when it's your cock she takes?"
"I'll not be a tool you use to hulimate and dehumanize her." Ominis struck him, hard enough to knock him back. The wires digging in further as Sebastians hands fly up to block his face. Ominis stands, holding a hand to pull you up with him though he faces Sebastian as he scrambles back to his knees, eyes glazed with unshed tears as he looks at you.
"Seems our guest isn't being sufficiently entertained, my dear." You only look at him, awaiting  instructions, it was a statement not an invitation to speak. Ominis let's his fingers trail your spine, allowing goosebumps to blossom across your skin.
"Bend over."
"What.." Your voice is high, shocked.
"Are you mine, y/n?"
"Y-yes, of course."
"Then prove it. Bend over."
You glance at Sebastian, hoping he can see the apology in your eyes. Hoping he knows, deep down you love him but you can't say no. Ominis is your keeper and there's no changing things now.
You do as your told, baring yourself to Ominis, hands braced against the top of the couch. You close your eyes, ashamed. Wishing you were dead, wishing you were anywhere but here, reminding yourself that this is your fault, you should have been a better wife, this would have never happened if you had just loved Ominis in the first place.
"See how well she listens, my sweet wife." He grips your thighs, pulling your legs further apart, just how he likes them. His fingers plunge into you with no warning, making you grit your teeth to keep from crying out. Ominis hums, "My poor wife needs a little assistance, she's not wet enough to take me."
You look back, an apology ready to fall from your lips. But Ominis isn't facing you, he's facing Sebastian. His wand poised to strike, with a slash and a whispered incantation, he does. A deep gash spreading across Sebastians cheek, he doesn't cry out though his body shakes with the evidence of his pain.
Ominis takes a few steps closer, close enough to prod the cut and collect the flowing blood in slightly cupped fingers. "Ominis?" He doesn't respond, he walks back to you. Still bent, he shoves all four fingers into you. His pace is slow, relishing in warmth of your cunt wrapped around his fingers. Wet and dripping Scarlett.
"Please Ominis." You're fighting the nausea climbing up your throat. "Do you hear how she begs for me?" Ominis doesn't stop his ministrations, his fingers curling at gummy spot that makes you spasm and squirm beneath him.
He can feel your body providing the necessary slick, mixing with Sebastian's blood as his fingers slid in and out. He grips your hips with his other hand, holding you in place, he can feel you tensing around him, he knows you're close. Your body is a traitor, uncaring of your minds protests, uncaring that it's your lovers blood coating your insides and dripping down your thighs. Your body only cares about Ominis, his fingers expertly ripping your orgasm free.
It hash and painful, leaving you shaking as you try to keep yourself standing. "Good girl." Ominis voice is gruff, arousal coating his words. He pulls his fingers free, wrapping them around his already leaking cock. He gives himself a few tug, allowing to pink slick coating his fingers to coat his cock. He can't stop the groan that falls from his lips. Feeling your juices on him, feeling your pretty cunt flutter around his fingers, it was almost enough to forget about Sebastian.
He could almost forget why you were all there. He just wanted to fuck you, wanted to bury himself as deep as he could, wanted to sink his teeth into your flesh and let your sweet blood fill his mouth while you tremble beneath him. But he couldn't right now, this, this is a lesson. To you his traitorous cheating wife and to the scum who thinks he can have you.
He lines himself up with you, letting himself sink in slowly, savoring the feeling. His hips moving at a teasing pace. "Your body knows what you want even when you try to deny it."
"I wasn't-"
"Don't lie." He pulls you into him by your hips, fingers digging in with a bruising grip. "Your body, at least, knows it's owner." He no longer holding back, his pace becoming quick, animalistic. He's rutting into you like it's the only thing that exists. The sound of wet skin overlapping the sound of crackling fire.
You cry out, letting your tears fall freely though your husband takes no mind. You try and escape, try and let your mind create a sanctuary, but it doesn't work. Nothing can distract you from Ominis' assault or the feeling of Sebastian staring a hole into your face, he is witness to your shame and that is your final straw.
Your body is not yours to command as it quivers beneath your tormentor. Ominis' thrusts become more erratic, sloppy and harsh as he comes undone, fucking his seed into with a few last thrusts. He pulls out, letting you collapse onto the sofa, you pay no mind as your thighs smear blood and cum into the cushions, as your hole leaks the remaining fluids, soaking into the fabric.
Ominis snatches his wand up, facing Sebastian. "No standing ovation? I think such a magnificent show is deserving." Sebastian sneers at him, "You're just as sick as the rest of your family, you always have been." That might have wounded him once but no longer, Ominis shrugs, "Gaunt blood flows through my veins as it will flow through my childs. It's a fact of life."
"Your child?" Sebastian looks at you, you curl into yourself, bringing your knees to your chest, covering your stomach. "My sweet wife had been taking contraceptives without my knowledge, that's why I'd yet to put a child in her." Ominis tucks himself away, fixing his now stained clothes.
"I was able to remedy that when I brought her to the Manor."
Sebastian let's out a choked sob. "Wife, do you think he's learned his lesson?" Ominis comes to stand by your side, pulling one of your hands to his lips. "Yes, husband." You didn't look at Sebastian, keeping your gaze locked on your entertwined hands.
"I agree. I have no more use for him." Your eyes shoot up to look at your husband, hopefull when you haven't been in so long. Even if you're never to be free of Ominis at least Sebastian will be. "Yes, we should be rid of him. We need never see him again, husband."
Ominis smiled down at you, pleased. "I was thinking much the same, my sweet girl." He leans down, pulling you into a deep kiss. "Would you like to go back home? Back to the way things used to be, before he came back into our lives? We can leave this mess in the past, we can be happy again, my love. Would you like that?"
"More than anything." It was the truth, twisted as it may be you wish you could go back, you really do want to. "As do I." You look at Sebastian, really look at him, wanting to memorize his features one last time. It breaks your heart to see the tears that streak his face, the cuts and bruises marring his skin, the way he trembles. But it would hurt more not to look at him knowing this will be the last time.
You look away, back towards Ominis. You grip his hand tighter, stroking his knuckles with your thumb. "Get him out of my sight. Please husband. Let's no longer let his presence interfere with our lives, our growing family."
Ominis smiles, genuine happiness gracing his features. "I need one last thing and then we can go home, my sweet."
"Anything, Ominis."
He leans in, close enough for his lips to brush your ear as he whispers, "Kill him."
What a fool, you're a stupid fool. You got ahead of yourself. Of course he wasn't going to let him go, you were stupid to think he would. To think it would be that easy, that you could go back and pretend away these last few months. You stand abruptly, taking a hasty step away from Ominis, "No." Your voice is strong, certain.
Ominis looks disappointed but not surprised, "I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do this... Imperio."
A haze sets over you. You feel like you're looking at the world through a foggy lense. Close but too far to touch. You can feel Ominis, his heart beats alongside yours, it beats in your chest. You can feel him, like his soul has become yours, no longer two people but one.
"My sweet." His voice is smooth like silk, sweet like honey. It's intoxicating. "Yes, love?" Your voice is far away. Not coming from you but around you like a fading void.
Ominis hands you his wand. Your skin is set ablaze and left tingling where his fingers brushed yours in the transfer. "Kill Sebastian."
You had forgotten that man was here, you had seemed to forget about anything other than Ominis. You face Sebastian, giving him a quick once over. He looks like a man ready to meet death, perhaps you're doing him a favor. Without a second thought you raise your arm, wand in hand, "Avada Kedavra." The magic surges free, so powerful your arm shakes as the spell rips free, leaving your whole body uncomfortably warm.
All you see is green for a moment but that flash fades. You rub your eyes, trying to ease the irritation from the flash. "Here, husband." You hand Ominis back his wand. Never bothering to look back at Sebastian, never bothering to see your handiwork. It didn't matter, you did what Ominis asked.
Ominis is all that matters, all that will ever matter. You wouldn't let that dead man plague your thoughts unless your husband commands it. You look up at him, watching, waiting for his next command. He smiles down at you, "Let's go home, Wife. Just us, our family. I should probably start building the crib for our little one." You bring one hand to rest at your stomach, smiling down at it. The other reaching for Ominis as you look back up at him. "Lets."

晚安,苏联 (Good night, Soviet Union)
(Op's commentary autotranslated from Mandarin without edit:)
Today is December 25th, the day the Soviet Union collapsed. What comes to mind when you think of the Soviet Union? Cold War, Red Empire, Khrushchev, Soviet March? revisionism? Will today's Russia be automatically converted into the Soviet Union? This word also carries too many emotions for some people. Red October, Victory Day, communist ideals…etc. Perhaps the Soviet Union that Jingsu liked never existed. She is just a utopia led by the Bolshevik Party in the hearts of the Commis. The Soviet Union was a great country. After the disintegration, no country can be said to be the "successor of the Soviet Union." The Soviet Union is unique and cannot be replaced or inherited. She had been so powerful. Otherwise, why would Europe and the United States regard that ghost as a scourge now? After she left, the workers of the world were shackled again, and even her achievements were discredited by reactionary forces. Dead people cannot speak. Even after her death, the US imperialists whipped her body like crazy and could not defend herself. The ideal she represents is exactly what all Kangmi people aspire to. But her darkness is also like an abyss. She took a wrong turn in the end, but it is undeniable that she was a great country and the big brother of the red regime of that era. What we should oppose is Soviet revisionism, not the Soviet Union; what the Soviet Union truly deserves is its communist ideals, not force. The red giant that fell in the winter of 1991 was probably because the winter in Siberia that year was too cold. The Soviet Union is no longer there, but in the far east, on the land of China, there is still a red flag, and a spark is still burning on that land.
Free motherland, you are incomparably glorious, a strong fortress of love for all nations! Lenin's party, the power of the people, lead us to the victory of communism! Long live the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics!

Before You Go - Fenrys Moonbeam
A/N: I’m so freaking proud of this fic I hope you love it! Also I’ve tried my hand at a lil smut so please feel free to give constructive criticism!
T/W: Maeve, Smut, Vision of Maeve & Fenrys, Angst, Death - I think that’s it! Let me know if I’ve missed any!
W/C: 5K
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
100 Years Ago:
“You did what?!” You seethed at the White Wolf who was looking anywhere but at you. “I swore a blood oath…to Maeve.” The words hit you like a physical blow and tears lined your eyes. “Why…why would you do that?” You asked, swallowing the lump in your throat. He looked at you then, his face shuttering as he took in your unshed tears. “For Connall, the things she makes him do, Y/N, I can’t, I can’t allow it.” You sighed, heart breaking as you looked at the Male in front of you, your mate. Not that he knew, if he did he hadn’t told you, just like how you hadn’t told him. “He’ll resent you for taking his place, Fen, he came to visit, while you were gone with your elite force, he seemed happy.”
You’d grown up with the twins, your parents serving under theirs but there was always something about Fenrys, something that pulled you in. They were five years older than you and you’d put it down to a school girl crush. Connall hated it. He didn’t speak to you for 2 years after he confessed his feelings for you on your 18th birthday. You had just looked helplessly at his twin and he had known then, had understood there was something unspoken between you and his brother. It infuriated him. Connall had always felt lesser than his twin, who was favoured by their father and now by you, it seemed. “I can’t let her have him like that, Connall deserves a true and pure love, not this.” You scoffed, “What, so it’s better for you to be her whore instead?” You spat, his eyes hardening at your words, “Tell me, will you be allowed to leave her chambers? To be the warrior you always wanted to be or will you be leashed to her bed like the dog that you are?”
Anger rolled off of him in waves as he took a step back from you, “That’s enough.” He said quietly but you were so past trying to understand his reasoning. “Maybe he loves her, Fen? Did you think of that?” He scoffed this time, “Even if he does, she doesn’t and won’t ever love him back, she’s incapable of it.” You put your hands on your hips, “So what now? You’ve come to say goodbye? Tell me I’ll never see you again?” His face softened as your voice cracked. “You’ll see me again, but yes, I came to say goodbye.” Anger was still coursing through your veins as you said, “You better go then, your shackles on her bed are waiting. Goodbye, Fenrys.” You turned and walked away, you didn’t look back.
85 Years Ago:
The first ten years without the twins, without Fenrys, had been hard. You’d lost your parents to one of Maeve’s many wars, the twins' parents only just making it back themselves. They had taken you in, despite the fact you were an adult and your own parents had left you more than enough. It was like their mother knew this would be the final blow for you and she refused to let you fall into your despair. She’d moved you into Fenrys’ room, “So you’re here when he comes back,” she had said, “A mate's presence heals most things, even if they're not physically here.” You didn’t know how she knew nor did you ask at the time as you crawled into his bed and slept for days.
Fenrys sent everything he was feeling down the mating bond unknowingly. You could stop him from feeling your feelings which you’d been actively doing since it snapped for you but you couldn’t block his. The hatred, the anger, the sadness, the submission, the pleasure. It made you physically sick. Sometimes, when his emotions were particularly high, you saw it all as well, through his eyes. You’d never forget that first time.
Maeve on top of him, her naked form grinding in his lap. “What’s the matter little pup?” She taunted from above him, “Performance nerves?” He was panicking, you could feel the panic coursing through him, the dread that if he didn’t perform she’d bring Connall in here instead. She scraped her nails down his chest, “You really are pretty for a dog, Fenrys.” She crooned, rolling her hips again, “I can help you enjoy it and perhaps eventually you’ll learn to enjoy it on your own.” She leant forward and kissed up his neck, her canines scraping as she went, disgust shot through him as one hand wrapped around his throat and the other slid towards his cock. “Enjoy it.” She whispered seductively in his ear, “You want me, Fenrys, you want this.” She sucked on his earlobe and the disgust started to dissipate, replaced by lust. “You want to fuck me, to satisfy me.” She continued as his cock stiffened in her hand. She dragged herself up his body, until she had a leg on either side of his head. “Go ahead pup,” she crooned, “eat.”
You witnessed the whole thing. She had ridden him until she was satisfied and when he was spent she sent him away like he was nothing. The last thing you saw when Fenrys opened her chamber door was Connall on the other side, betrayal like nothing you’d ever seen written across his face. You’d thrown up until your body had given out and you moved out of his room and his parents house the next day.
This went on for ten years until you’d had enough, you couldn’t take it anymore, feeling what he was feeling, witnessing it. You had amassed the funds your parents had left you and ventured to Doranelle, for an audience with the Queen. You smoothed down the skirts of your dress as you waited to be called into her throne room. Fenrys was here and nearby, you could feel the bond coming to life and singing that its counterpart was close. A guard approached and nodded for you to follow him, so you took a deep breath and did just that. It’s for the twins, you told yourself over and over again as you rounded the corner and took in Maeve sitting upon her stone throne, two wolves sat either side, one white, one black, both of their ears shot up and their eyes widened as they took you in. A white tailed hawk sat above her right shoulder, a massive Osprey sat above her left. In one of the alcoves close to the throne stood the biggest male you had ever seen and another male with golden hair and tattoos.
“You asked for an audience?” Maeve asked, her voice sounded bored and uninterested. You bowed as low as you could before speaking, “Yes your majesty, thank you for granting my wish.” You said, your voice sounding stronger than you felt, she waved a hand for you to continue. “I have come to ask if you will allow me to buy the wolves out of their servitude? They are needed at home but of course majesty I understand they are of great importance to you so I offer all that I have, including myself, in their stead.” Maeve tilted her head in consideration. Connall was staring at his queen, but Fenrys, Fenrys was staring at you, a sadness in his eyes, a desperation telling you to take back your offer and run.
Maeve tipped her head back and laughed, she laughed like you had told the best joke she had ever heard and as quickly as she laughed, it ended. The Fae Queen leveled you with a look, “No.” You stepped forward, Connall bared his teeth and let out a warning growl that shocked you to your very core. “But, I-“ the Queen cut you off, “I said no, like you pointed out, girl, they are of great importance to me and this one,” she said, placing a hand on Fenrys’ head, “He pleases me ever so well, so no, girl, I’ll keep them both, leave.” Your mouth dropped open and Maeve sighed, “Lorcan, see our guest out.” The giant of a male stepped towards you and Fenrys whined his protest, “Hush, pup, get upstairs.” Maeve commanded and you were escorted out with a feeling in the pit of your stomach that you’d made everything worse for him.
A knock woke you from a fitful sleep. You hadn’t even made it to your bed, you had passed out drunk on the sofa and you winced as the wine bottle rolled off of you and smashed on the floor. You’d deal with that in the morning you decided as you stumbled to the door and flung it open. A fae male with long silver hair and face tattoos stood on the other side, along with the golden haired male from earlier. “So she’s sent you to kill me then?” You asked as you turned and walked into the kitchen, leaving the door open for them to follow. “Drink?” You asked, pouring yourself a whisky and sliding the bottle and two glasses over to the other side of the table where they now stood. “I won’t fight you for my life,” you told them, “There’s nothing left of it anyway.” You said gesturing around the house.
The silver haired one snorted as he took in your home, “Wow, you really aren’t doing well without him are you?” The golden haired one hissed as he elbowed his friend, “Rowan!” He scolded. “I’m sorry, Y/N, I’m Gavriel and this is Rowan, we aren’t here to kill you, we’re here to help, sort of.” You raised an eyebrow, “Help? With what?” You questioned, “You feel him don’t you?” Rowan asked, “We can teach you to block him out, so you don’t feel him if you’re too much of a coward to tell him he’s your mate.” You crossed your arms over your chest, “You’re an asshole.” You told Rowan, Gavriel nodded his agreement, “An asshole I might be, but I’m trying to help you, do you know what she would’ve done if she realised what you were to him, to both of them?” You shrugged, “It isn’t fair that they are chained to her like that, it’s not fair to any of you, loyalty should be earned, not taken.” Gavriel sighed, “Let us help you.”
So you learned from them, well, from Rowan mostly, over an exhausting couple of days. Gavriel kept himself busy fixing whatever needed fixing in the house and tidying up so you had somewhere presentable to live. “Oh and one more thing,” Rowan said as they turned to leave that evening. He turned, producing a letter out of his satchel and you instantly recognised the scrawl on the envelope. “Keep those shields up, Y/N.” He said before walking out the door. Gavriel smiled kindly at you, “For what it’s worth, I think he regrets it, leaving you, everyday.” You sighed, “I was so mean the last time I spoke to him, I was angry and I didn’t mean any of it.” You said quietly, “I think he knows that too,” Gavriel said, “but I’ll make sure to tell him.”
You smiled at him softly, “Why did you both come to help me?” You questioned, Gavriel glanced outside and then back to you, “Rowan’s pregnant mate was murdered & I walked away from my mate and child because of the fear of Maeve, we don’t want the same for Fenrys, we’re quite keen on the pups and somethings Y/N, somethings are worth fighting for.” With that, he took your hand, kissed your knuckles and left.
You slid down the front door, pulled your knees to your chest and ripped open the letter Rowan had given you. There was such anger in Connall’s words, at you, at his brother. But there was also sorrow and a plea for you to never step foot in Doranelle again.
You spent the following weeks wondering if you’d be betrayed, but no one ever came for you.
50 Years Ago:
Gasping quietly you dropped the dishes you were washing in the sink with a splash, the bubbles splattering up your apron. You threw open the door to Rowan and the tall male you hadn’t met yet. “What happened?!” You snapped as you took in Fenrys hanging between them. “Move!” The tall male hissed as they shoved past you, “Clear the table!” Rowan commanded, panic seized you as you swept the table with your arm. “What happened?!” You snapped again and Fenrys groaned as they placed him more gently than you’d expected on the table. “He’s been testing the leash, stupid boy.” Your eyes snapped to the tall male, “Sorry, who the hell are you?” He didn’t even look at you as he grunted, “Lorcan.” You looked back down at Fenrys, “She did this to him?” Rowan looked at Lorcan who shook his head but Rowan answered you anyway, “Connall did.” Anger flooded through you, “Connall?!” Fenrys let out a wet, labored cough, “No,” he croaked. “She commanded it,” Lorcan drawled, “But he didn’t seem to hesitate or fight it.”
You watched quietly as the two warriors worked on Fenrys. Your entire body was tense. Fenrys had passed out 30 minutes ago, a blessing you supposed, that he couldn’t feel what they were doing as they were putting him back together. A shadow outside the window caught your eye and you stalked out the door. “You’ve got some nerve.” You spat at the Black Wolf who was sitting at the tree line of your property. “How dare you turn up here?!” With a flash the Black Wolf was a Male prowling towards you. “He’s my brother, I need to know if he’s okay.” You scoffed, “You did this to him!” You exclaimed, stepping up to him. “I didn’t have a choice!” You rolled your eyes, “They said you didn’t even hesitate or try to fight the order!” You watched Connall’s eyes shoot over your shoulder and then back to you. You felt Rowan at your back. “Are you here for you or for her?” He asked, his voice tight. “For him.” Connall snapped. Rowan nodded and beckoned him to follow. You huffed and followed the two males into your home, the tang of blood in the air.
They’d moved him to your bed when they’d patched him up. You had sat next to the bed, back rigid. Your eyes watching the steady rise and fall of his chest. Around 3am his eyes cracked open, finding you instantly in the darkness, “Am I dead? Is this heaven?” He rasped. You rolled your eyes, “No, you aren’t dead, they brought you here.” He nodded weakly. “Where are they?” He croaked, you handed him a glass of water, “Lorcan and Connall went back, Rowan’s flapping about outside.” You told him and he huffed a laugh then winced. “Stop it.” You scolded him.
You’d brought him some food and stuck your head out the door to let Rowan know he was awake before returning to Fenrys. “How are you feeling?” You asked, “Why are you doing this? Helping?” He asked at the same time. “Because it’s you and I’m an idiot.” You muttered quietly. “It was stupid of you to come to Doranelle.” He said, “I’m not sorry.” You snapped. “Your brother nearly killed you today, he didn’t think twice about it, he just obeyed.” Your voice cracked and tears welled up in your eyes. Fenrys sighed, “It’s the blood oath, he didn’t have a choice.” You gave him a scathing look, “Get some rest.” You said, voice sharp and you turned to leave. “Hey?” You turned to face him, he held his hand out towards you, “Come here?” He asked, patting the space next to him. The bond was screaming at you to do so, to join him, to not leave him injured and alone in your room so you caved and crawled in next to him. “You know I love you right?” He asked into the darkness of the room. “Yeah, I know.” You answer, heart cracking because you knew he didn’t mean it how your entire soul craved him to mean it.
Now:
“What are you doing here?!” You span at the sound of his voice. “Fighting? We got the call.” You gestured at the battlefield that surrounded you. “You can’t be here!” He snarled, “Well I am! You snarled back. “Pup! We’ve got to go, you can fight with your girlfriend later!” Rowan shouted as he landed next to you, “Hi, Y/N.” You smiled at him, “Aedion is injured, get up to the battlements and see where you can help.” Rowan told you, you nodded at him and took off, Fenrys shouting after you.
You clung onto Aedion, tears in your eyes as Gavriel stepped through the gate. You’d grown to love Gavriel, he’d visited you every time he traveled past your home over the years, always stopping in for a cup of tea, you had your suspicions that he was reporting back to Fenrys but he’d become your friend either way. “Let him go, Aedion.” He fought against you, “He’s doing this for you, the only thing he feels he can do for you.” So the two of you watched as the Lion of Doranelle stood his ground as the gate shut him out.
It was over. It was won. You’d watched from the battlements as Fenrys delivered the killing blow to the tyrant Queen. Had watched them morn Gavriel from the outside while you quietly mourned the Wolf that was no longer with you. Aelin had approached you in the garden one evening, as you sat amongst the flowers, watching the sun disappear, talking to Connall as if he could hear you. “You’re staying.” A fact, a demand from your Queen, not a question. You looked up at her and she smiled, “Rowan’s not so good with the secrets.” You laughed as he huffed behind his wife. “He’ll need you.” You gave her a kind smile, “I doubt that, but if it’s what you wish for, your majesty, I will stay.” She gave you a look that said she knew she was right and turned to leave, “Actually, with your permission, there’s something I’d like to do.” Tears welled in Aelin’s eyes as you told her what you wanted, Rowan approached and smiled and put a hand on your shoulder, “I think that’s a wonderful idea.” He said, Aelin nodded her agreement.
Fenrys found you a week later. “What are you doing out here?” He asked, approaching you in the Royal Graveyard of Terrasen. You were knelt in the dirt, hands covered in it. Flowers surround you, Zinnias for remembrance and goodness, Yellow Carnations for friendship and gratitude, Violets for faithfulness and devotion, Anemones for protection and sacrifice and Daffodils for rebirth and hope. “He mentioned you had become friends over the years…” he trailed off, realising that it wasn’t Gavriel’s grave you were kneeling in front of. You looked at him over your shoulder, and then moved aside to reveal a gravestone, that simply read:
Connall Moonbeam
Brother
Friend
Beloved
Black Wolf of Doranelle
A raw, broken sound left Fenrys as he crashed to his knees at the sight of his brother's grave and you were there, next to him, holding him. “I thought it would be nice if we had somewhere we could talk to him.” You told him quietly as he sobbed into his hands. “He visits me in my dreams, the first time was the night he died. He came to me and told me what had happened. That you needed me. I set off the next day to find Aelin, to help however I could.” Fenrys fell into you, sobbing into your neck. “He kept me safe, when I slept rough, he’d tell me to wake up, to move.” You kept talking as Fenrys calmed slowly, “He had things left to say to me, we both cried as he told me he’d loved me once but he knew, had always known I’d belonged to his brother, that I had to find you, that you’d need me, that after everything, he’d get me to you safely, the last thing he could do for you.” You ran a calming hand down his back, “He had a message for you, he said he loves you, more than anything, he forgives you for everything and he’s sorry for his part, he said that it was meant for you, the dagger, but it was too far and he couldn’t allow it.” Tears were running down your face by the time you finished speaking. “If I could change it, if I could take his place so he could be here with you, I would, in a heartbeat, Fen.”
Fenrys remained quiet for a long time after you had told him everything. He clutched your hand like it was his tether to the earth. Finally he looked up at you, his onyx eyes meeting yours and you saw the exact moment he felt it too, the bond. You watched it wash over him, watched him figure out what it was he was feeling. “You…you’re…” you nodded at him, “Yes, I am.” He blinked, “How long have you known?” He croaked and you let out a humorless laugh, “A long time, Fen.” “How long?” He repeated, “Since before you swore the blood oath.” You admitted, “You’ve known for over 100 years that we’re mates and you never said anything?!” You opened your mouth to reply just as Rowan and Aelin approached, “We’ve all known Boyo, it was fairly obvious.” Aelin elbowed her husband. “You’ve done a wonderful job on Connall’s grave, Y/N.” She said, “I’m sorry I never got to know him.” She said to Fenrys, wrapping him in her arms. “He’d have loved you.” Fenrys mumbled and you and Rowan laughed your agreement.
Over the following weeks Fenrys started coming around more and more. Getting to know you again he’d said. You’d cried as Aedion swore his oath, took his birthright and Fenrys had laughed at you, wiped your tears and held your hand for the rest of the ceremony. “Dance with me?” He asked as the Coronation Ball went on and on. You smiled up at him and took his had, allowing him to lead you to the dance floor and into the first dance. Your body fit against his in the best of ways and from what you felt, he knew it too. It was on your third dance that he seemed to throw caution to the wind and his hand left your waist to cup your face as he brought his lips down to yours. It was like the world had gone silent. He pulled you impossibly closer to him as his kisses descended down your neck. “Let’s get out of here.” He spoke against your neck, “Please?” You begged him. He smirked at you as he pulled you towards the doors.
The two of you only made it a few corridors at a time before you were swept up in kisses and touches again. By the time you were halfway to his room, you realised, he was carrying you, your legs wrapped around his waist, dress up around your hips, his hands on your ass, groaning at the feel of it, of the feel of your teeth against his neck. “Fuck it.” He growled three corridors away from his room as he pinned you against the wall with his hips and pulling the top of your dress down. He groaned as he took in the sight before him and ground his hips into yours causing you to moan. He lowered his head, kisses starting at your neck, trailing down to your chest where he worshiped each breast and nipple, the sensations causing you to writhe against him.
“Can you be quiet for me?” He asked, pulling away from your chest. You nodded eagerly as he sank to his knees, anticipation tightening in your stomach as he threw your legs over his shoulders, his head disappearing under the skirts of your dress. Kisses began traveling up your legs, “No underwear?” He mumbled more to himself than to you as his mouth neared to where you wanted it the most. His tongue licked a broad stripe and you jerked at the sensation, letting out a loud moan. “What did I say about being quiet?” He teased as he head appeared from under your skirts before going right back to where it was before. Your fingers scrambled for something to grab onto and settled for the of your dress that was covering his head as he sucked on your clit, waves of pleasure zinging up and down your spine.
“Please, please, please” you were begging as that familiar coil started to tighten in your stomach. “Please what?” He asked against your clit, the words vibrating beautifully. “Tell me what you want love?” He asked, nipping at your thigh. “Make me cum, Fen, please I’m so close.” You whimpered as he started his minstrations again. Two calloused fingers pushed into you and you threw your head back into the wall, his lips still sucking at you. “Plea-“ your begging was cut off as his fingers curled and hit that perfect spot and the coil in your stomach snapped and you and the world fell apart as your orgasam ripped through you. He kept going, drawing it out as long as he could.
His smirk was feline when he emerged from your dress and set your shaking legs back on the ground. You threw yourself at him so hard he stumbled back into the opposite wall as he caught you. You began attacking his neck with kisses, teeth scraping along his throat as you pulled his shirt out of his trousers and tried to undo the buttons. “Take me to bed. Now.” You breathed against his ear and he froze. Completely froze. His arms dropped away from you and his whole body was ridgid. You pulled away from him, realising quickly what had happened and your heart threatened to disintegrate at that haunted look in his eyes.
“Fenrys?” It was like he couldn’t hear you. Whatever memory of Maeve he was reliving had trapped him and you weren’t sure how to get to him. You had just began to panic when Chaol and Yerene walked down the hallway, “Get Aelin, now!” You snapped at Chaol as Yerene stepped towards him. “Don’t!” She stopped dead and looked at you. “I don’t know what he’s reliving and how he’ll be when he comes out of it, you’re with child.” You said more gently and she nodded in understanding, “Go with Chaol, bring Rowan too!” She nodded as she ran to catch up with her husband. “Fen, please, come back to me.”
Footsteps rushed down the hallway and then Aelin was there, Rowan next to her. Lorcan behind him. Chaol and Yerene behind him. You knew you didn’t fit this picture, this group. So you watched, back against the wall Fenrys had just had you against as the Queen of Terrasen pulled your mate back after you had failed to do so. His eyes cleared and darted around the hallway, he smiled down at Aelin and Rowan clapped him on the shoulder. Lorcan, Chaol and Yerene departed back to the ball as the Queen and King spoke with their Emissary, their friend & you turned and fled. You had done that to him, you were no better than Maeve.
“I don’t know how to do this.” You sobbed, “I don’t know how to be what he needs.” The gravestone didn’t answer. “I wish you were here, Con.” You told him, “It’s not right without you and I keep messing everything up.” You let out some more sobs as Fenrys’ haunted face flashed through your memories again. Twigs breaking behind Connall’s grave had your head shooting up & there he was, your White Wolf. “I’m sorry, Fen, so unbelievably sorry.” You told him as he prowled over to you.
He approached, studying you and your tears, then licked a great stripe right up the side of your face, which caused you to snort in disgust and then laugh. Fenrys huffed out a sound that you assumed was as close to a laugh as he could do as a wolf and then he curled himself around your back, and a contented rumble left his chest as you leant back on him. “I’m sorry I put you back there, I’ll be more careful with my words next time.” You said quietly. He huffed again, nuzzling his face into your side, a feeling of warmth, thanks and understanding filled your chest and you knew it was him. “Can we stay out here with Connall tonight?” You asked, he nodded and put his head down on a massive paw, leaving the other for you as you curled up into his fur. “I love you, Fen.” You mumbled sleepily, “I have for most of my life.” You felt the moment he shifted, arms wrapping around you and pulling you into his chest, “I love you too.” He said, kissing the top of your head.
Connall Moonbeam smiled down at the sight of his twin brother and his best friend, curled up together by a grave that he was not in. It didn’t matter, they had honored him with it anyway. They continued to honor and remember him for the rest of their lives, especially on the day their son was born and they gave him the name Connall Gavriel Moonbeam. Gavriel clapped a hand on his shoulder as he walked away from him, into the arms of the mate he’d been missing for so long. Connall smiled down at his brother and his family one last time and followed Gavriel and his mate into the light, there would be no more dream visits, he had nothing more to offer his friend, besides, he’d see them both again some day.

The chains around your wrists still strained you. They still hurt. You didn’t even know why you were there, well, you couldn’t remember why you were there. Every reincarnation, you would find yourself being taken away and into the Shaking Prison. Quickly chained up and suffering the consequences of a guy you can’t seem to remember, but all you knew was that he was your brother and his name was Dan Feng?...Or did he go by a different name now?
Whatever the case, you started growing resentful of him, although you couldn’t remember. You knew that you were paying the price for what he did, and you’d be stuck in the loop of getting reincarnated and spending you 700 years in the Shackling Prison.
.
.
.
Dan Heng stood idly in Scalegorge Waterscape looking at the parted seas. Breathing in and out the tranquil air…until a yell alerted him, he turned around and saw the current High Elder, Bailu running to him with her maids in tow.
“Dan Heng!!”
“Bailu? Is something wrong?”
He asked, turning around fully and crouching down to be on level with the smaller Vidyadhara. She took a bit to catch her breath, the maid with her smiling apologetically at him. She stood up straight and began speaking, although rather quickly.
“There’s a Vidyadhara who recently got permission to leave the Shackling Prison because now you got your banishment lifted, people thought it was fair if they got released too and they’re asking me to meet and release them as well as help them settle back in b-because I’m the High Elder but I can’t…can you do it?”
Dan Heng blinked a bit, he understood what she was saying but he was rather confused. A Vidyadhara released because he was able to walk around the Loufu freely? Although perhaps the maid didn’t realise this was the case as she tried to explain what Bailu said in simpler terms.
“Bailu wanted to ask if you could take her place at releasing and showing this Vidyadhara around to get them settled in. The Loufu has changed a bit ever since they well…were sent to the Shackling Prison”
She explained, Dan Heng slowly stood up and considered it before nodding. It wouldn’t hurt right? Just to help them settle back in and then he can go back on the express.
.
.
.
Footsteps can be heard echoing the halls, your head darted to the door as your eyes narrowed. Feeding time won’t be till much later, you knew that due to how long you stayed in the prison. It was practically muscle memory at that point. But what entered wasn’t a cloud knight but…another Vidyadhara?
“...So…you’re [Name]”
He called out softly, walking towards you slowly. Your eyes widen a bit, you recognize him. You’ve seen his pictures a few times when people tried to jog your memory of who your brother was. You quickly tried launching for him, you were mad. He had made you suffer for so long and yet he acted so calm?
He didn’t flinch at all or move back. It wasn’t as if you were able to actually get to him anyways. You were still in chains and could only go so far.
“[Name]…”
He slowly started, it seems he was told about the situation in more detail.
“Go away Dan Feng, you did this to me! Y-you…why do I have to suffer because of your mistakes…why did I have to suffer your punishment”
Tears welled up in your eyes, as the chains slowly shook alongside your body. You sniffed a bit.
“N-now look…I-I’m crying…I shouldn’t b-be crying…I-it’s been so long s-since this started…I-I should be used t-to this by n-now…right?”
Your lips quiver, looking away from him.
“You have every right to cry…it’s just you showing emotions…it’s healthy to cry…so…please, don’t hold it in”
Your eyes slowly wandered to the taller Vidyadhara man. Before giving in to his words and letting the tears fall.
“D-Dan Feng…y-you’re such a scoundrel…I-I”
“I’m not Dan Feng…I’m just…a reincarnation of him…maybe that does make me him but…I won’t let my past leak into my future…please…call me Dan Heng…I want to fix the mistakes of my previous incarnation”
He speaks, slowly walking over and sitting next to you. Your eyes followed his figure slowly. You stayed silent, Dan Heng took this chance to continue a bit.
“I understand it’ll be hard to forgive me…even if I may not remember what happened…I just know you’re suffering due to the actions Dan Feng made…and because…we’re apparently siblings”
“Is…that why I’ve always been placed here…?”
“Correct…according to Jing Yuan who gave me more details…we’re related…in every reincarnation we face, no matter how many times we do so…we’re always siblings”
He paused for a bit, letting the silence set in before standing up, you heard the jangle of keys and the straining feeling of your wrists gone. You quickly stood up, nearly tripping over.
“I…thank you”
You nod a bit, slowly looking up at him. You were confused, the stories you were told, the things you heard about Dan Feng…and yet when he stood in front of you and how he spoke, how he acted, didn’t stay true to what you heard.
Then again, according to him, he isn’t Dan Feng, but Dan Heng…
“You know…’Dan Heng’…that isn’t far off of Dan Feng…like a letter off”
“Ha…yeah I notice that”
He nods, silence overtakes the two of you again before he extends his hand out to you.
“Come on…I’ll get you an Immortals Delight”
Tumblr media
Hopefully I managed to make a good-ish hurt/comfort thing! 😥 Thank you for the request!! There’s currently 3 more in the line that I’ll be working on the coming days :) Feel free to leave more requests!!

Dark Rise Summary
Leaving this here for anyone else about to read the second book and who remembers f-all from the first one. (And since I couldn’t find a good one online.) Spoilers ahead, obvs:
Will came to London to find out who killed his mom. It was Simon’s dad, Edmund, the Earl of Sinclair. He worked on Simon’s ship and tried to subterfuge it. His mom’s old servant finds him and gives him a medallion. He was caught by Simon’s men and shackled down in one of Simon’s ships. All Simon’s men got a brand on their arm, a letter S. Tom was there that day to get the brand and his sister Violet followed him. Stewards attack the ship trying to get one of their own back from Simon - Marcus. They fight. Justice fights Tom and when they fight in the ship a crate opens and it’s the corrupted blade and it starts destroying the ship and it can kill people with a touch but Will manages to sheathe it and tells to Violet to get everyone out and she does but then comes back to help Will. Since Justice found them there on the ship he assumes they were both Simon’s prisoners and takes them to an inn and tells them the ancient history. Violet tries to go back to her family but overhears her dad saying he only kept her alive cause she and Tom are both lions and Tom needs to kill another lion to get his full powers so she sashays away. Justice takes Violet and Will to the hall of Stewards (formerly the hall of kings). He thinks Will is the blood of the lady cause of the medallion. The lady is who killed the dark king in the past. They train in the hall of stewards and the elder steward tries to get Will to reach the light inside him and bring a dead hawthorn tree back to life but he can’t. Elder Steward tells Will the dark king will be reborn and Simon is trying to bring him back. The first step is to unleash a shadow.
One night Will and Violet hear some Stewards returning from patrol and sneak out to eavesdrop. Justice and others heard where Marcus might be and went out to get him but it was a trap. James was there. In old world he was servant of light but turned and started serving the dark king. He’s called the betrayer and he is a reborn so he can use magic and almost killed them all. Will thinks they want Marcus back so desperately cause he knows how to summon a shadow. Violet says she could find out how to get him back.
They sneak out back to London and she goes to back to her family and overhears where James will be alone and when. Will goes to secretly meet Simon’s fiancée Katherine and they develop a thing. When they return to the hall they are taken and shackled. Apparently Cyprian never trusted Violet, an outsider, so he followed her. They tell her they know she’s a lion and lions fought for the dark king so she must be bad. They try to tell them they know how to get to Marcus but no one trusts them. Then surprisingly Cyprian comes to free them and sneak them out. Marcus was his brother (The high janisarry adopted them both after “losing his son”). Cyprian says if there’s even a small chance they’re telling the truth and they could get Marcus he’ll risk it.
They corner James at Robert Drakes Ivory shop. Devon the last unicorn works there. He hides his identity. They capture James and slam some anti magic shackles on him and bring him back to the hall. The stewards have a severed unicorn’s horn (Devon’s) and it compels someone to tell the truth but you gotta stab them. Will takes it and with a slow, homoerotic precision stabs James in the shoulder. They learn that the High Janissary is his real dad. He was kicked out as a child when they found out who he was. Scared and alone he found the only person willing to take him in, Simon’s dad. They learn where Marcus is being held. That Simon is looking for a powerful artifact and that a man named Gauthier had come to England with it. But then James also tells them all the truth about the cup of the Stewards. The cup is what the novitiates drink from to get their steward strength. But it’s cursed and eventually turns them into shadow. Four kings of the Hall were offered great power in exchange for a price by the dark king. 3 of them agreed and drank from the Cup. Those who drank gained extraordinary physical abilities for a time. But when their time was done they turned into shadow kings controlled by the dark king. Chaos in the hall ensues. Everyone realizes the stewards are desperate to get Marcus back cause he about to be shadow boy. They plan a full frontal assault to get him back.
Will tells Cyprian and Violet there might be another way. They sneak out and Will goes to meet up with Katherine. They kiss and a Hawthorne tree in the garden by her house blooms. Katherine freaks out and asks Will “what are you”. Her lady’s maid came out looking for her but before they parted Will tells Katherine Simon is not a good man and if you ever feel in danger come to the marsh (where the hall is) and you’ll be safe. Failing to get any useful information from Katherine the three return but Marcus had already turned and came into the hall and killed everyone. Elder Steward managed to fight him and kill him cause she was almost shadow herself at that point before dying herself. The only survivors were her two janissaries, Grace and Sarah. Janissaries fail the test and so don’t drink from the cups. They become knowledge keepers, scholars, artisans, etc.
They go to find Gauthier and James is already there. A novitiane (Emery) had freed him after they left cause he had the feels for James. They overpower and shackle him again. Apparently the mighty artifact Gauthier has is a collar that controls James. Ones its on it can never be removed. The Dark King used it to control James then had him executed so he can be reborn with him. The executioner kept the collar and it was passed down through generations to Gauthier. It’s dark power ending their family line to one sad old man hanging on to the collar. Will decides to free James and gives him the collar.
Katherine and her little sister Elizabeth do come to the hall after she overhears Simon talking about killing people. She says Simon said he needs the blood of the lady to release the shadow kings from a stone they’re trapped in and that will make the dark king return. Will realizes Simon can use the blood of his mother where she was killed so he sneaks out and goes to the place. He kills Simon’s remnants and then Simon (but not before he managed to release the shadow kings). Simon tried to kill Will with the corrupted blade but of course it didn’t work on Will cause surprise surprise he’s actually the dark king reborn. Turns out his mom had tried to kill him. Katherine and Elizabeth were her daughters who she gave away to protect them. Devon appears there and tells him he knew who he is all along and calls him my king for some reason (even though the dark king slaughtered the unicorns who were fighting with the stewards). Devon also kills his boss and friend Robert after Robert steals his horn back and gives it to him saying he knew all along. Frankly, Devon just doesn’t make any sense. Katherine apparently followed Will and overheard everything. Will tells her she’s the one who made the tree bloom and she’s the blood of the lady. They can hear two shadow kings coming for her. Will commands them back to the stone. Katherine is scared of Will. She picks up the sword to fight him but the corrupted blade kills her.
Back in the hall Elithabeth stumbles and touches the dead tree and it comes to light and they realize she’s the blood of the lady. The third shadow king is there and breaks through the hall wards. Violet tells them all to run and stays to fight the king. She defeats him with a lions shield that was hanging in the hall as a relic of the old world.
Will goes to an inn to write a letter to Katherine’s aunt and uncle who were taking care of her. James shows up there. He doesn’t know who Will actually is and tells him he’s there to follow Will. Will says “Of course you are.”

Free Use Therapy Whore
How could she support their war effort? She comes from a different part of the world, but she knew she had talents that could be helpful. She did her research, and made her decision. The battalion would come back from a tour of duty at the front line and need release.
They would find her in the barracks common room. She was there of her own free will, but she wore a shackle on one ankle, chained loosely to the bed frame. She had plenty of freedom of movement but the sense of being captive worked for the soldiers and for her. Her passion to help was so strong she had words tattooed onto her body. She didn’t understand them, they were written in a strange alphabet, but phrases like “Victory”, “For your fallen brothers”, “use me”, “take what is yours” were dotted over her. The enemy’s flag, tattooed above her bald cunt and each butt cheek, with the words “fuck you” below - a clear signal of intent.
She’s dressed like a stripper, just whalenet stockings and platform heels. Hot pink. Immaculate slutty makeup. And nothing else. As the soldiers come into the room they are muted and hesitant. She sits patiently on the bed watching them drink and tell their stories from the front line. As she fidgets occasionally her chain rattles and the men start to notice her. She stands up and moves her body rhythmically, dancing to an imaginary tune playing in her mind. Her hands caress her skin, the chains clank, and now the ice is broken. The first soldier, the commander, reads the words she wears and he’s over to her and slaps her. “Whore!” he screeches, forcing his fingers into her mouth and to her throat. Eyes closed, she is compliant. She takes it. He pushes her to the bed, removes his trousers and he’s on her. He fucks her. He fucks her hard. He fucks her for his fallen brothers. He fucks her to spite the enemy. He slaps her again. As he cums his hand is choking her, until he is spent, red finger marks round her delicate neck. As he stands he drags her to her feet. Pointing to the flag tattoo above her pussy, he barks his orders. “Fuck her like she’s them!”
It’s mayhem. Cocks inside her. Every hole filled. They slap her. They choke her. They spit in her face. A couple of them piss over her hair. She isn’t spared any act of defiance or humiliation. It’s revenge fucking. They have to get it out of their systems. All the hate. All the loss. It’s poured into her holes and across cross her body. Bite marks on her neck and her breasts. The flags on her butt change colour from the beating they take as they slap her while railing her from behind.
She doesn’t know how long it lasts. She doesn’t know how many of them use her. When they finish with her, they go back to drinking at the tables. She is on the bed. Coated in her own sweat, and their spit, cum, and piss. She looks broken. For the soldiers it’s victory. As the war grinds on it feels good to fuck the enemy into defeat like that.
She is euphoric. She needs this. She needs to give them what they need. It’s her purpose in life to use her special talents for good, and she has delivered, and she’s helped the war effort. The barracks officer unshackles her and leads her to her bathroom . There, he showers her down before bathing her in warm soothing water. She takes her time to refresh herself and accepts some food and water to keep her strong and healthy. No sooner has she dried herself off, she reapplies her makeup, puts fresh stockings and heels on, and returns to her shackle, ready to be hate fucked by the next team of soldiers coming back from the front.
She is happy and fulfilled as the free use therapy whore.

Brothers kidnap Mc but they are pretty Girls so nobody cares
I feel like this turned out a bit Yandere
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucifer:
she made a very elaborate plan, but it failed so she knocked you out
anyway she actually hide you under the House of Lamentation near Cerberus
just so nobody can find you or take you away
she also thought you would fight a bit more, it´s nice your making it easy for her
but you never make it easy for people, usually you just try to be as obnoxious as possible and drive people crazy
I mean you would be stupid to run away from a pretty woman
and you know would have probably eaten if you did run
Mammon:
she just put a sack over your head and tried to drag you away
big emphasis on tried because you managed to hold onto the door frame and she could not make you let go
so she locked you in your room
and she chained you to the bed and threw the key away
the only reason you could be free is if she broke the shackles herself
but you never even tried to run away, as long as she gave you something to do you were as calm as before
she didn´t even think about it because who wouldn´t want to stay with the Great Mammon for eternity!
Leviathan:
she drugged your food and locked you in her room
because she could not think of a better place to hide you and keep you away from the others
it was a really weird kidnapping
if someone didn´t know better people would think you kidnapped Levi and not the other way around
but she plays a lot of video games with you and begs for forgiveness, despite you not even complaining or anything like that
she´s just acting like always
and was very confused by the fact you didn´t even try to leave
she just put you in her room and you didn´t leave since then
despite her kidnapping you she´s actually a bit scared of you
Satan:
she also had a very convoluted plan which failed but instead of simply knocking you out she just beat you unconscious and chained you to her bed
anyway she told you to not leave her room or she´ll shorten the chain until you can´t move
but she like the fact that you didn´t try to leave, saved her a lot of time
she also smuggled a cat in to make it a bit less boring for you
and totally not because she wants one and to fuck with Lucifer
also she thinks it´s cute when her favorite things are in a room together and getting along well
Asmodeus:
she tried to seduce you but it didn´t work how she wanted to so she knocked you out with a random lamp
in her words she didn´t kidnap you but only taken away for a short while until you want to stay with her
or in more clear words, you have to stay with her until you develop Stockholm syndrome and never want to leaver her side
she never wanted someone to be affected by her charm as much as now
but she loved it that it took a lot less time than she thought for you to be completely infatuated with her, or rather that you just decided to roll with it
you two will be loveliest couple <3
and she may or may not kill everybody that looks at you
Beelzebub:
she hugged you so hard that you passed out
it was a very nice way to kidnap someone in your opinion, because it was very comfortable
but kidnapping would be a bit to… harsh? I guess
honestly she just asked you to stay with her and you just said yes
I mean who would say no to staying with Beel?
tbh it was more like moving rooms, still forceful moving rooms, but you can leave whenever you want
and she feels really bad about it, so she tries to make it up with all kinds of gifts
it´s a very weird situation
Belphegor:
she had Beel knock you out lock you in the Attic
she could look past it if you hated as long as you let her use you as a pillow
but that you just don´t care is also acceptable for her
it was actually a lie that she could live with you hating her
she also found a curse to hide the attic from her Sisters and everybody else who might come looking for you
seem seems like both of you changed roles now
but don´t worry she won´t let anybody hurt find you :)

The sight of Adam nearly causes you to faint. You have hoped, prayed, that somehow he managed to escape–that he wouldn’t also fall victim to the brothers–and your heart pounds in your chest as you take in the sight of him. Old and new cuts and bruises cover every visible inch of his body, his eyes are sunken in, his skin taut, and he looks as if hasn’t slept or eaten in weeks. A ratty shirt that had once fit him properly is now held together by mere threads and covered in dried blood stains. But the worst part is the metal collar locked around his neck, connecting to his wrists and ankles. Adam’s gaze fixes on you for a moment, the ghost of a smile on his lips fading quickly when Sam tugs sharply on the shackles.
You want to run to him, apologize for ever bringing him into your complicated relationship with the Winchesters. You should’ve disobeyed John, especially now that you know that it wasn’t Adam who fathered your baby after all, and you were already pregnant when the family left in January. If you’d only waited a few weeks longer to fulfill John’s instructions, you could’ve saved yourself and Adam from all the pain that you caused by following those orders. You stop yourself from moving, especially when you realize that Sam’s eyes are narrowed in on you, as if he’s waiting to see what you’re going to do now that Adam is here.
“Check her,” Dean orders, gesturing towards Claire, baby Amelia still in his arms. Adam doesn’t move, his eyes flickering to Sam, as if he’s asking him for permission to follow Dean’s instruction. What has Sam done to him? “Now, Milligan.”
Sam nods, loosening his grip before producing a key, he unlocks the chains and Adam shuffles towards Claire. Dean hands the baby over to you, stepping back to Sam, who offers a hand to shake his brother’s in congratulations.
You rock the baby in your arms as Adam inspects Claire, taking in her tiny features. Though you knew it wouldn’t matter who fathered Amelia, you can’t help but think of the relief that Claire will have knowing that her husband is Amelia’s father. She’s the spitting image of Dean, plump lips and a button nose and large almond shaped eyes, irises already tinged with green. As the brothers share hushed words between them, you walk back towards Claire, shushing Amelia as she begins to stir. Adam offers a sweet smile to Claire telling her that she did well before giving strict instructions to stay on bedrest for the next week. He then turns to you, reaching out to take the baby from your arms. Your skin prickles under his touch and you lock eyes, and again you fight the urge to tell him how sorry you are.
He gives Amelia a quick once over, the newborn wailing in his arms, and he gently shushes her before handing her back to Claire.
“Your wife and daughter are both perfectly healthy,” Adam says meekly as he approaches Dean and Sam.
There’s a snide smile on Sam’s face as Dean takes in Adam’s words. At first you don’t understand what Sam is finding funny; recently he’d been just as obsessed with heirs as John was. John had mentioned more times than you can remember about the brothers’ needing heirs. Legitimate male heirs. Mr. Finch’s words from months echo in your ears as though it was just repeated in the quiet room.
Tell me you want me to put a son in you.
“I guess that means the Manor is mine,” Sam snickers, a poor attempt at a joke that Dean clearly doesn’t find funny, and the elder brother puts his fist through the wall behind him. You back away from the brothers as a remark from Dean sets Sam seething, and he tackles Dean to the ground. Grunting and the sounds of fists hitting flesh fill the room as the brothers tumble across the floor.
With the Winchesters occupied, you seize the opportunity–albeit a foolish one–and grab Adam’s hand. You guide him towards the passageway that you and Dean entered from earlier in the night, stopping briefly at the bed to place a kiss on Claire’s forehead and promise you’ll get her out, too. You instruct her to call for Bobby or Ellen before disappearing into the passageway. With the door closed behind you, you make for your and Sam’s room hoping that, once you get there, you and Adam can escape.
You quickly realize that it may not have been the best idea to use the secret passage, though. From your and Sam’s room, it seemed to be a straight shot, but what you failed to notice before is that there are multiple connections, and you don’t know which one leads where.
“Which one, Y/N?” Adam pants behind you.
“I don’t– I’m not sure,” you sob, cradling your stomach. This isn’t a good idea, you could end up quite literally anywhere in the Manor. “Maybe we should go back, if they don’t know we’re gone–”
“I think it’s too late for that, Kitten,” Adam grabs your hand. “And I– I can’t go back. Think, sweetheart.”
Each hall looks nearly identical to the other. If you’d paid closer attention before, you wouldn’t now be stuck in a labyrinth behind the walls of Winchester Manor. You fall against the wall, cursing yourself for thinking that you could get yourself and Adam out of here.
“I’m sorry, Adam,” you mumble. “This is all my fault. I shouldn’t’ve– If I’d told them the truth, Dean would’ve never–”
Adam sits down beside you, wrapping his arm around you gingerly and pulling you close to him. “It’s okay, Y/N.”
You let out a deep breath. The longer you sit here, the greater the chance that Sam or Dean would realize that you’re trying to escape and figure out how you were doing it. If Claire was able to alert Bobby to the fighting brothers, there was a good chance they wouldn’t be able to get to her just yet.
As your eyes adjust to the barely lit corridor, you see something on the adjacent wall– an SW and DW etched into it, and you decide that hall must be the one they used to sneak into the other’s room. You struggle to stand and Adam catches on quickly, rising himself before offering you a hand to help you up. You guide him towards the walkway, excitement filling you as you reach the door to Sam’s room, knowing that you and Adam are close to freedom.
“Y’know, every time I think we’ve broken you, you somehow manage to get just enough of your fight back to do something so fucking stupid, Y/N.” A voice makes you turn and you see a pistol pointing at you and Adam. Your heart stops. Sam’s sporting what looks to be the beginning of a black eye and has a slight limp as he takes a few steps towards the two of you. “I thought we were past all this, Princess.”
“It was me,” Adam steps in front of you, “I made her do it.”
“Is this true, Y/N?” Sam asks, eyeing you sternly while fixing the pistol solely on Adam. You’re torn, afraid that Sam might kill Adam if you go along with the lie, but even more afraid of what Sam will do to you both if you tell the truth.
Adam turns his head slightly so that you can meet his eyes, and he gives an almost imperceptible nod, encouraging you to play along.
“Yes,” you mumble, and as soon as the word leaves your mouth, Sam closes the distance between him and Adam and hits him too many times to count with the butt of the pistol until the doctor’s body falls to the floor with a thunk. Angry red marks cover Adam’s face and a stream of blood flows from his mouth and nose. Sam uses his shirt to wipe down the pistol, staining it red, before stomping on Adam’s hand and then his stomach. He turns away, smirking as he disappears out of the room.
Adam’s face is swelling within seconds, and you drop to your knees, hoping and praying that Sam hasn’t killed him. You place your hand under his nose, breathing out a sigh of relief when you feel a faint breath against your fingers.
“He attacked Y/N, Bobby, I had to stop him,” Sam’s voice carries from the hall.
When you look up, you see Sam and Bobby entering the room from the main doorway. You can’t remember the last time you’d seen him or Ellen.
“We need to get him back downstairs,” Sam urges, sounding rattled.
“Are you sure that’s what happened here, Sam? ‘Cause from where I’m standing, it looks like you beat the tar out of him for no reason,” Bobby retorts.
“He’s been obsessed with Y/N for months. He’s the one who attacked her and Claire last year! If Dean hadn’t found them…” You’re not sure why Sam’s ability for lying comes as a shock to you. “Y/N, sweetheart, he can’t hurt you,” Sam reaches out for you, and helps you up, wrapping his arm possessively around your shoulders.
“Why do you think I’ve been keeping her close? I couldn’t risk something else happening to her. He’s delusional, Bobby. You want to know what he told Dean?” Sam doesn’t wait for a response, plowing on in his tirade. “He said that he was our brother– that he deserved everything we had. That if we didn’t allow him to continue caring for Y/N and Claire, that he would make sure everyone in town knew about Joanna. I love Joanna like a sister; we couldn’t let her reputation be tarnished because dad wouldn’t allow Dean to marry her. You know no matter how much he discouraged it, they were sweethearts. Dean only sent her away because he thought it was what dad wanted, but dad included her in his will, Bobby. He knew that it was Dean’s child. And she and Henry should be here with us. Tell Ellen to bring her here.”
Sam is speaking so quickly and erratically that you can barely keep up. You haven’t seen Joanna since John’s funeral, and all you were told when you asked about her absence previously was that she was ill. You’d caught her and Dean in compromising positions more than once. Is that why she’s been gone? To have her baby in secret so that no one would know that she was unmarried and pregnant? To save herself and Ellen the embarrassment of having an illegitimate child? You watch as Bobby takes in everything Sam has said.
“I might not be an educated man, Sam, but I ain’t stupid.” Bobby narrows his eyes. “I’ve known you your whole life–I practically raised you–and you think I don’t know when you’re lyin’? Your daddy paid Adam to watch over the girls and help ensure safe deliveries. And you’ve been keeping him locked up for months. You think Ellen and me can’t see the bruises, that we don’t hear the screams? You think that little of us, boy? You think that you can use us to keep covering up your and Dean’s messes?”
“I think,” –Sam steps forward, the facade of a man scared for the life of his wife and child dropped now, his voice lowering dangerously– “if you don’t do as you’re told…” He leans forward and you can no longer make out his words. Bobby’s face drains of color, his eyes wide, and his whole body goes stiff as Sam pulls away. “Have I made myself clear, Robert?” Bobby nods his head. You’d never seen Sam interact this way with Bobby, and whatever he said clearly has Bobby afraid for his life.
“But you are right about one thing; Y/N and Claire, they’ll need someone to look after them while Dean and I take our next case. Take him to the servants quarters and tend to his injuries. Once he’s healed, he is only allowed to see Y/N under your or Ellen’s supervision. Is that understood? And I wasn’t just carrying on about Joanna. Dean and I will expect her and Henry moved in by the time we return. Now, get him out of here and send someone to clean up this mess.”
Bobby only nods, moving towards Adam and picking him up off the floor. A pained groan leaves Adam, and for a brief moment his eyelids flutter. Sam locks the door behind them as Bobby exits, and you’re not sure what to expect from him next. He stalks towards you, tearing off his shirt. You make a decision that you’re sure you’ll regret, and try to grab the pistol, but Sam beats you to it.
“I know it wasn’t Adam’s idea to escape,” he growls, grabbing your arm roughly. “But the fact that you let him take the fall for it–that was surprising. How do you keep managing to surprise me, Y/N?” Sam’s hand snakes up your back before grabbing your loose hair and yanking your head back. “And going for this?” he waves the pistol in front of your face, “was even more unexpected. Maybe I need to teach you another lesson,” he grunts with a pull of your hair, causing you to whimper.
“Please, Sam, I promise I’ll be good.”
Sam moves you both towards the bed, and when the backs of your knees hit the mattress, you fall backward. He lifts your nightdress over your belly and exposes your breasts, the gun tracing your silhouette, and for a moment you’re afraid he might try to fuck you with it, but instead he sets it down after a moment, just out of your reach, and pins your hands above your head. He enters you roughly, giving you no time to adjust, and sets a fast and brutal pace. Your focus falls to the window as you wait for him to finish.
Tumblr media
August
Claire is given a clean bill of health by Dorothy a few days later, and with that the brothers are gone. A weight is lifted off your shoulders, and you feel like you can finally breathe for the first time in months. Under Sam’s orders, Joanna is back in the Manor within a week and is assigned to be the children’s wetnurse and nanny. You, Claire and Joanna are all moved into the rooms closest to the nursery which now houses both Amelia and Henry.  A third bassinet sits empty waiting for your baby to fill it.
Several new servants were brought in by Dean before they’d left nearly a month prior and according to him they were there to protect you, Claire, Joanna, and the children. You aren’t sure who Dean thinks you need protecting from, especially when he and Sam were the only people in the Manor who had ever hurt you, but you have to admit knowing that Dean is concerned about the well-being of all of you is heartening.
Benny, the guard assigned to you, is nice enough, and for the most part gives you a wide berth. He’s larger than Dean but not as tall as Sam, and you can see why Dean had hired him. He accompanies you on your daily walks through the grounds and escorts you everywhere else in the Manor. Though you insist that it isn’t necessary, he maintains that he was given explicit instructions to stay by your side.
For the weeks following you fall into a routine; morning walks with Benny, afternoons spent with Claire as she heals and the babies, and evenings exploring the Manor, you’d been there for so long, but hadn’t truly been out of the East Wing. Each week, Bobby receives a letter from Dean and the time frame of their absence is extended another week. Once one case is finished, the brothers would start working another one, and a part of you wonders if they ever truly plan to return back to Kansas.
True to Sam’s word, the one and only time you’ve seen Adam since the brothers’ departure is under Bobby’s watchful eye. There was so much you wanted to say to him: apologize for getting him involved, not only once, but twice. If you hadn’t made a stupid and feeble attempt at an escape, and hadn’t let him take the blame, you’d both be better off. He hardly says anything to you, speaking mostly in two or three word sentences, before declaring you to be in good health. You attempt to follow Bobby and Adam when they exit, but to your dismay, Benny stops you, instead taking you in the opposite direction.
There’s a knowing look on Ellen’s face when she enters your room the next day, ordering Benny to help himself to lunch, while you and she tend to “wifely” things. Once Benny has disappeared, she asks you to follow her, guiding you to a secret door that you’ve never noticed before, and you curse yourself for not realizing sooner that the Manor had to be filled with multiple passageways, linking more than just bedrooms.
Ellen briefly tells you how to recognize which passage leads where and how you can use the secret corridors to go between the different wings of the house, pointing to one in particular that, according to her, might be of interest to you, and another hall that, if you were so inclined, would lead you outdoors. You don’t miss the implication of the information that she’s given you, but you know you can’t leave. Sam and Dean still need you. After your last night together–before they’d gone away–you were woken up to loving touches and sweet words from your husband that reminded you why you’d ever fallen for him in the first place. Beneath the brutality and the bouts of mania, there is a kind and sweet Sam that you cherish. If you could give Sam and Dean the son they both so desperately want, maybe things could change.
You know you need to cast Adam out of your thoughts. You can’t be a loyal wife to Sam and Dean if you also have feelings for Adam– you need closure. You could tell him how the passages work, and maybe he could escape. With the brothers extending their trip so much, he could be far away by the time they return. It was the least you could do for him.
You consider for days when might would be best to try to find Adam and help him escape. You’re sure Ellen was giving you a clue as to where he was being kept, but you won’t dare ask her for more clarification. According to Dean’s most recent letter, the brothers aren’t expected to return for at least another week. The sooner you helped Adam leave, the more time he could have getting out of Kansas City, the state, or even the country if he so desired. You doubt the brothers thought him important enough to chase all over the world; he’d fulfilled his deal with John, there was no reason for him to stay to just deliver your baby.
As the week comes to a close, you know you have to make a decision, and soon. After dinner is served that night, you and Claire spend the rest of the evening in the nursery, chatting and playing with the babies, before Ellen orders you both out so that she and Joanna can put them to bed, leaving one oil lamp burning as a nightlight for the children, as one of the new guards takes his place outside the nursery door.
Benny escorts you the short distance to your room, offering you a “goodnight, cher” as you close the door behind you. You’re confident that Benny won’t disturb you for the rest of the night, so you make the decision that tonight is the night to free Adam. You grab your own oil lamp from the beside, quickly filling it with the reserve kept in your room to ensure you had enough light to see Adam outside.
You creep through the hidden door in your room and make your way down the hall Ellen had said would be “of interest”, hoping that you didn’t misunderstand her tone, and you wouldn’t be walking into something much worse than finding Adam. You’re not sure how long you follow the grimey and dim corridor, you hoped that you could maybe get an idea of where exactly you were in the Manor, but with multiple ones branching off you realize you could be anywhere.

AZRIEL POV
Azriel couldn’t help but flinch at the sight of your limp body, arms strung up like you were a piece of meat dangling from the chains. He had thought himself to be good at shutting off his emotions when it came to his line of work, but this felt different. Wrong, even. It confused him – not once had he ever hesitated, ever even considered disobeying his High Lord’s orders down in these dungeons.
Your hair was matted and lifeless around your face, the weak rise and fall of your chest being the only indication that you were even still alive. The beautiful gown that adorned your body at the ball was now tattered and dirty, barely clinging onto your skin in some places. Azriel gulped as he stared at your unconscious form, wiped out from Rhysand’s attempts to penetrate your mind.
Evidently, the High Lord was beyond frustrated, his brow furrowed and sweaty from the efforts. “I’ve never seen this,” He muttered, running a hand through his dark hair. “Not once. I’ve always been able to get inside people’s heads. Why not hers?”
“I don’t know.” Azriel responded. He felt his shadows curl around his scarred fingers. Normally they did so to encourage him to get the job done, but this time felt different. It was as if they wanted him not to end your life, but to reach out and free you from the shackles. But he ignored them.
Rhys slumped against the wall, panting slightly. “I need answers, Az.” He snapped, voice sharp. “How is this girl able to withstand my magic? And how the hell did she access some ancient spell that allowed this bond to form with Nesta? I would prefer to know before I end things, so whatever shit she may have put in motion can be stopped.”
Azriel stiffened. “End things?
The High Lord sighed, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Come on, Azriel. You know this is how it has to end. She spent months plotting against our court, and possesses some form of magic within her bond with Nesta. She’s a threat and you know it. And threats like that must be eliminated.”
He spoke with that authoritative voice that Azriel had seen bring so many others to their knees in obedience. He felt it tug at his bones, the instinct to obey his High Lord. Azriel had always considered himself loyal, never needing that extra kick to submit to his superior. Until now. “I disagree.” Azriel said sternly. “(Y/N) has lied, yes. But she has shown no signs of intending to inflict harm upon this court. All she wanted was to get out, and she knew we wouldn’t let her.”
“I don’t recall you being this blind, brother.” Rhysand’s voice was low as his violet eyes sternly stared down his spymaster. “Did she flash you her tits during training sessions? Is that why you’ve suddenly gone soft?”
“No. I think we pushed her too hard, too fast into this job she did not want. She had already lost everything in the Spring Court, and when Lucien brought her here she immediately became a prisoner. Did you expect her to bow at your feet and be eternally grateful for letting her stay here? We should have given her a reason to want to become a part of this court, not force her into it within a span of months.”
Rhysand let out a growl, and Azriel knew he was pushing his limits. “Careful, Az.” He said. But Azriel ignored him.
“Can you blame her for resenting us?” The shadowsinger continued, against his better judgement. “Our High Lady destroyed her court, and when Lucien brought her here she was forced to live indebted to the female who allowed her home to be ruined.”
There was a low rumble within the cell as Rhysand’s dark mist began to creep out from behind him. “Choose your next words wisely, Azriel. Or I’ll begin to think you’ve helped her.”
“I didn’t, and you know it. But your protectiveness for your mate is clouding your judgement as a leader, Rhysand. This girl does not deserve to die for what she has done.”
Before he could breathe another word, a sharp pain cut through his throat as Rhys’ dark power wrapped around it, cutting off his air. Shock flooded through him, hazel eyes bulging as the violet eyed male snarled at him. He didn’t try to fight back. Not once had his brother gone this far – sure, they had their fair share of nasty fights, but never like this. No matter how angry they had gotten with each other, neither had ever threatened the life of the other. Until now.
“That is not your call to make, spymaster.” Rhysand snarled furiously. “I am your High Lord before anything else, and you are sworn to me. My word is law, not yours. You will go and search for more insight into this bond between her and Nesta. Whether you find anything on it or not, (Y/N) will die by your hand at dawn tomorrow. You will not protest, and you will not breathe a word about this to anyone. If I sense even for a second that you will disobey me, I will throw you in a cell beside this scheming whore. Am I understood?”
Azriel nodded as best he could, body still frozen in shock. After a moment, Rhysand’s tendrils finally retreated, leaving the spymaster gasping for air. Despite working alongside him, being the executioner to his master for over 500 years, Azriel had never known what it was to be like on the receiving end of his High Lord’s pure fury until now. He glanced over at your strung-up figure, guilt churning in his gut. You had endured this torture for days, a torture Azriel only received a glimpse of.
As the spymaster inhaled deeply kneeling on the cold floor, his shadows whispered to him. He knew deep down that he had a choice to make, one like never before. 500 years of loyalty to Rhysand was being put to the test, something Azriel never thought would happen. Another glance at how intensely Rhys was staring at your imprisoned, starved form was all he needed to winnow away.
*********************
Azriel’s throat still burned from the pressing of Rhys’ dark mist. He kept his demeanour calm as he approached the doors to the library at the House of Wind, even though his stomach was in a thousand knots. He knew what he was about to do was treason at the highest order, and the second Rhys found out he would be flayed alive. The clenching and unclenching of his scarred fingers was the only indication of his disturbance as the spymaster was met with Clotho. Her pale robes shone in the blue light of the library as she approached him.
Shadowsinger, Her elegant writing appeared on the paper in lieu of her voice. What can I do for you?
“I need to see Gwyneth.” Azriel said, trying to keep the urgency out of his voice to not alarm the priestess.
Gwyn is occupied right now. May I take a message?
He gulped nervously. “I’m really sorry, Clotho. But I need her right now.”
That will not be possible. I suggest you return at another time, Azriel.
“Please.” Azriel hated begging, and hated pushing the priestess even more. But before Clotho could script a reply, a gentle voice sounded from behind the shelves a few metres away.
“Azriel?” Gwyn’s red hair appeared, streaming down her flowing robes as she carried an alarming amount of books. “What are you doing here?”
“Gwyn, I need to speak with you in private. Right now.” He pleaded, hoping Clotho wouldn’t shoo him away.
Gwyn’s teal eyes were puzzled, but she nodded. “It’s alright Clotho.” The priestess merely nodded beneath her hood before turning and disappearing back into the stacks.
Azriel breathed a sigh of relief as Gwyn put down the books. She walked towards one of the offices, and he followed her in silence. The room was tense as she closed the door behind him.
She crossed her arms, which made him halt. Normally his interactions with Gwyn were pleasant, leaving his shadows singing happily afterwards. But the way she was staring at him with a hardened glare made him want to shrink back.
“Where is (Y/N)?” Gwyn said sharply.
Azriel took a deep breath, unsure of how to approach this. He didn’t know what version of that night at the Hewn City had reached the ears of the priestesses. “Gwyn–”
“Don’t bullshit me for one second, Azriel.” The redhead was unyielding, but he could see the anxiousness within her as her throat bobbed with every word. “Nesta left for Autumn with Eris, but (Y/N) never returned from the Hewn City that night. What did you do to her?”
“I didn’t do anything–” He started, but Gwyn cut him off abruptly.
“I said don’t bullshit me, you fucking liar!” Her voice rose, long fingers clenching and trembling with anger. It was enough to make Azriel take a step back, shocked at the fire within her. “I heard you grabbed her and whisked her away that night. What the hell did you do to my friend?”
Azriel leaned against the desk, wiping his face with his hand. His heart cracked a bit, knowing that trust and companionship he had built with Gwyn while training had come crashing down. He hated himself for it, for being so blind in following orders that led him to this place. His loyalty to Rhysand came at a price, one he had always been willing to pay until now. “I’m sorry.” His voice was barely above a whisper. “I was following orders.”
“What is wrong with you?” Gwyn hissed, her words cutting him sharper than Rhysand’s magic had. “You took away her one chance of leaving this gods damned court peacefully. You took away her freedom out of stupid, blind loyalty.”
“How did you know what happened that night?”
She snorted. “You and your little circle like to treat us priestesses like we’re these fragile little flowers living in our own little shelter, oblivious to the outside world. But people talk, and word reaches us. We aren’t as ignorant to the court as you think we are.”
“I never said that you were.”
“You basically just did.”
Shame washed over Azriel. He knew she was right, that he was a prick in assuming the priestesses remained clueless to what was happening in the court right now. And that’s why Clotho had been hesitant to let him into the library. “I never meant for any of this to happen.” He muttered, closing his eyes.
“Well, it did. Now tell me where my friend is, and why you’re here.”
Azriel took a breath, preparing to utter the words that would make this decision the point of no return. “I need everything you have on the bond between (Y/N) and Nesta.”
A flicker of worry crossed Gwyn’s teal eyes. “I don’t know anything–”
“Yes, you do.” Azriel interrupted her calmly. “My guess is you knew about their plan as well. Otherwise you’d be a lot more freaked out by Nesta marrying Eris.”
As panic began to set into the priestess’ face, Azriel softened his voice. “It’s ok, I’m not going to tell anyone. It makes sense that any information that Nesta and (Y/N) got on the bond was through you and your work. You are not in trouble, and nobody will hear from me that you helped them. I just need every scrap of information you were able to get your hands on regarding whatever magic they used.”
She narrowed her eyes. “So you can give it to your master like a good dog playing fetch? Not gonna happen. He’ll use it to hurt both of them. I don’t care that he’s the High Lord, I won’t let him do that.”
Azriel stood up and took a step towards Gwyn. She didn’t shrink back, but rather lifted her chin to meet his gaze. “Gwyn,” He began. “That’s not what this is. I’m not retrieving this information for Rhysand.”
The priestess blinked once, as if considering the gravity of his words. He wished he could spill the truth and tell Gwyn what he planned to do, but just uttering those words directly to her would put her at risk. “Then who are you retrieving it for?”
“Look, I am not trying to hide anything from you. But I told you… if you knew the truth, I would be putting you at risk for selfish reasons. And after all I have done, that is something I cannot live with. You just have to trust me when I say that it is for the right reason.”
“After hearing about how you so quickly stole (Y/N) away, I’m not sure if we have the same definition of the right reason, Azriel.” Gwyn’s voice was bitter, but there was a sadness to it that made the guilt churning inside of him threaten to spill over.
“I understand.” He said quietly. “And you have no reason to trust me right now. But please… if you’ve ever had any faith in me at all…just….just know that I’m doing this for (Y/N). And Nesta. If you believe anything I say, believe that.”
Silence overtook the room, the shadowsinger and the priestess standing mere inches from each other. After a long few minutes Gwyn muttered a ‘stay here’ before quickly fleeing the office.
She returned 15 minutes later with a few sheets of parchment paper and several books. They were placed upon the dusty table, and Gwyn took a deep breath. “This is everything I have on the subject,” She said shakily. “It’s not much, but it’s every document that could possibly give anything away about the bond between them.”
Without thinking, Azriel dropped to his knees in relief, bowing his head. “Thank you, Gwyn. Thank you.” His entire body was on the verge of shaking as the weight of what he was about to do began to truly set in. Everything he had known and defended was about to be put on the line.
“Promise me this, Azriel.” Gwyn spoke coldly. “Promise that this information gets into the right hands, not the wrong ones. You do whatever it takes to help my girls. After everything you and your family have done to them, you owe them that much. And more.”
“I swear it.” Azriel said solemnly, still looking at the ground. In a flash, he felt a cold blade pressing against his jaw, tilting his head upwards to gaze at the priestess. She looked like a goddess of justice, staring down at him with icy eyes.
“And I swear this to you,” Gwyn said coldly, a silver dagger in hand. “If you screw this up and they pay the price for it, no power in the world will stop me from hurting you. I don’t care that you trained me, or that you saved me on that day Hybern came. I will cut your throat if anything happens to Nesta or (Y/N) because of you. Understood?”
Azriel was enthralled at her strength. This was not the shy, nervous priestess that he had rescued from Hybern’s soldiers. Gwyn’s bravery had excelled since the second she stepped into the ring, and Azriel had marvelled at her progress during training, how comfortable she became with the outside world. Stupidly, he had credited that to his and Cassian’s training, thinking that it was what Gwyn, Nesta and the others had needed to heal like he and Cassian had. No, this strength had nothing to do with what he taught her. Behind her stern expression, Azriel knew that deep down this strength had come from the friendship formed with you, Nesta, and Emerie. He had been a fool to see it as anything other than that.
“I’m proud of you, Gwyn.” Azriel said softly before his brain could shut him up.
Despite the flicker of surprise across her face, she did not yield. “I do not need your validation. I need you to do the right thing and help my friends. Only after that will your statement be worth anything to me.”
Gwyn removed the blade from the spymaster’s throat and turned on her heel. Like a ghost in the wind, she was gone. Azriel’s chest was tight as he stood up, collecting the documents in his arms and praying that this possibly very stupid decision would be worth it. But after seeing the anger on Gwyn’s face, the hurt he had caused without even realising it…. Azriel knew exactly what he needed to do as he winnowed away.
*********************
The door in front of Azriel opened before he could raise a hand to knock, revealing the redhead male with a golden eye wide with surprise.
“Azriel?” Lucien said in shock. “What are you doing here?”
“We need to talk.” Was all he said in response before pushing his way past Lucien into the manor.
“By all means, come in.” The male muttered sarcastically.  But Azriel paid it no mind as he scanned the large living room for any sign of Jurian and Vassa.
“I’m alone.” Lucien quipped, settling down on the large brown armchair by the fireplace. “Since that’s what you were trying to figure out. I’m surprised you came by before (Y/N). I thought she’d have visited already, but I guess she’s been enjoying Velaris too much to be slumming it down in the human lands. When you see her next, thank her for the scarf for me, will you?”
Azriel’s heart dropped, head whipping sharply towards Azriel. “What?” He didn’t even bother keeping the surprise out of his voice.
Lucien frowned. “The scarf she gave me for the solstice? Rhys delivered it a day or so after, said she was busy on a new mission and asked him to drop it off for her.”
“Rhys was here?” Dread pooled in Azriel’s stomach. His High Lord was ensuring your disappearance would be quiet, giving him time to create a cover story before eliminating you.
“Yes… Why do you look so concerned? What aren’t you telling me?”
Azriel put his head in his hands, cursing. “You have no idea what’s been going on, have you?”
Lucien was still as a statue as he spoke. “I haven’t heard from (Y/N) since I got to the manor. When Rhysand visited, he said she had picked out a scarf for me as a present, and that she was sorry she hadn’t visited, but that she was loving her life in Velaris. And that she was training under you to work for the Night Court as a spy.”
Any desire to be secretive flew out the window as Azriel explained everything to the Autumn male – how you were not freely living in Velaris, but locked away with Nesta in the House of Wind. Your time spent back at the Spring Court to spy on your own people. Nesta’s engagement to Eris as a cover to escape the Night Court. Lucien was usually a collected male in Azriel’s eyes, but he could see the disbelief and anger in his expression as he told him the truth. When he was done, Lucien leaned forward with his elbows on his knees, speaking in a low voice. “So you’re telling me that you locked away my best friend, and everything I’ve heard about her for these past few months has been a lie.” Lucien said. “Is that correct?”
“Yes.” Azriel said quietly. “And now I’m trying to fix it–”
“Fucking hell!” Lucien exclaimed sharply, standing up abruptly and pacing back and forth. “Your court is a fucking shitshow, you know that? How the fuck can you let this happen, Azriel? You’re so far up Rhysand’s ass you didn’t see any of this coming?”
“I understand you’re angry–”
“Oh angry doesn’t even begin to describe it,” Lucien hissed, his red hair gleaming in the light of the fire. “You played right into Rhys’ hands, and now (Y/N) is being tortured in a cell somewhere because you let it happen instead of growing a fucking spine. And that doesn’t even begin to touch on the fact that Nesta was treated so horribly by you people she was willing to marry ERIS out of all people just to get away from it.”
Azriel had no defence. Defeated, he hung his head. Lucien was right about everything, and it was made worse by the fact Rhysand lied about your status to him knowing that the Autumn male was the only one likely to try and do something to stick up for you.
“Now what I can’t figure out is why you’re telling me this.” Lucien folded his arms, glaring at the spymaster. “You’re either betraying Rhysand and trying to fix this mess, which is brave but incredibly stupid. Or you’ve come here to see if I somehow had anything to do with all this so you can hang me up in a cell next to (Y/N). Which is it, shadowsinger?”
”I need your help.” Azriel admitted, meeting his harsh gaze. “I’m trying to turn this around, but I need to track down Eris. You’re my only shot.”
Lucien let out a harsh, heartless laugh. “I figured. You need my help. If you thought I wasn’t going to be any use to you, I wonder if you’d have even come here and told me the truth. Or would you have just let me live on believing this lie until word got around about (Y/N) meeting her tragic end on some mission.”
Mentally, Azriel was exhausted. Two redheads ripping him a new one was beginning to chip away at him more than he was already crumbling at the weight of his decision. Like Gwyn, Lucien was right. While he respected the male, Azriel doubted he’d have even considered coming just to tell Lucien the truth about what happened if he didn’t think Lucien could help. And his moment of silence told Lucien all he needed to know, for he scoffed again. “Of course not,” He continued. “You people just love exploiting those of us without any other options and then throwing us away like garbage when we’re no longer of any use to you.”
“Then help me make this right.” Azriel pleaded. “Tell me how to get to Eris, discreetly.”
“Can’t you just free her yourself and take her to safety?”
“No, there are ancient wards in that prison. I can pass through quickly and easily, but not so much with another person. Rhys would find us within seconds if she left that cell, and kill us both.”
“Then how do you propose we get her out?”
Azriel frowned. “I’m sorry, we?”
Lucien rolled his eyes, taking a hearty swig from his glass of wine beside him. “I’m going to help you get her out.”
Azriel shook his head, not liking how many people were involved in this already. “I can’t let you.”
“Bullshit. You don’t get to tell me what to do. Not after everything you’ve done to create this mess. I’ll take you to Eris, and besides, I think I know something that can help us.”
*********************
The crisp scents of Autumn flooded Azriel’s senses as he paced the clearing. His mind whirled from his talk with Lucien, even more so at the male’s idea that they had discussed. Lucien had winnowed him here and told him to wait while he discreetly fetched Eris. It was a huge gamble – while you and Nesta had been willing to trust Eris, Azriel was not so keen. His dealings with the prince had always been tense at best, and vicious at worst. He knew he’d have to swallow his pride and put their history aside for this, however hard it may be.
Frankly, Azriel had no idea where in the Autumn Court he was. His shadows sensed nothing, no indication of where they were on the map. It briefly crossed his mind that Lucien could very well have led him into a trap as payback, but deep down Azriel knew Lucien wasn’t that type of male. However angry he might be at Azriel, he would prioritise getting you back. The clearing was massive, which made him feel far too exposed for his liking. There was a thicket of trees in the distance that he considered hiding in, but he owed it to Lucien to do as he was instructed and wait here.
It felt like hours before a strong gust of wind blew his tousled locks out of his forehead, and the presence of something Azriel could only describe as sheer power slammed into him like a wall. A thunderous roar sounded from the skies, unlike anything the shadowsinger had ever heard before. But nothing could have prepared him for the sight before him.
Three large dragons were flying ahead, circling above the clearing. Their wings were like claps of thunder, nearly sending him backwards onto the ground. Upon the back of the large black one was the unmistakable, arrogant figure of Eris Vanserra. He held onto the spikes going down the dragon’s neck as it soared above Azriel, roaring with the ferocity of an ancient battlecry. Azriel’s jaw nearly hit the ground as he spotted none other than Nesta Archeron, riding the elegant silver dragon with her hair blowing in the wind. Her eyes were a lethal glowing silver, resembling the scales of the very beast she was mounted on.
“Mother above…” Azriel whispered, flinching as he felt the ground shake beneath him. He turned around slowly, and was met with the third dragon, a riderless one with gold scales and large horns. It snaked towards him, growling fiercely. For a moment, Azriel thought the beast would open its jaws and roast him alive, but the creature paused, growling as it glanced behind the shadowsinger.
“I must say, you are the last person I expected to come here.” Came Eris’ cocky voice. Azriel turned back around, slightly nervous at the golden dragon breathing down his neck, and was faced with the other two. Ignoring Eris, his gaze landed upon Nesta.
She was perched upon the dragon like it was a horse, or even a throne, chin high like a queen from ancient times. Azriel’s breath left his body at the sight of Nesta with her hair unbound, trailing freely down her back and shining against her blood red dress. Whichever way her gaze shifted, the dragon’s did so too. It was like watching Nesta in a mirror, only her reflection was a dragon. It unnerved Azriel, and he was well aware of his vulnerability in this situation. Not only was he in enemy court, unauthorised at that matter, but three beasts he thought only existed in stories stood beside him, in the flesh.
“Lucien said you wanted to meet.” Eris said coldly. “You have ten seconds to convince us that it’s worth our time.”
“(Y/N) will die at sunrise tomorrow if we do not do something.” Azriel blurted out clumsily.
There was a moment of silence, and Eris looked towards Nesta. Her gaze was fixed on Azriel, and he squirmed underneath it. Her silver mount growled fiercely, as if it was sharing its riders' rage.
“Are we supposed to believe that you’ve suddenly had a change of heart and care about her?”
Azriel gritted his teeth. “I’ve always cared.”
Eris snorted. “No, not truly. If you had, then we wouldn’t be having this meeting. Because you’d have done something by now and grown a spine.”
“Your brother said the same thing.” The spymaster growled, already irked by having to negotiate with the Autumn prince. “I don’t need more reminding that I’ve fucked up, Eris. I just want to save her life, and I can’t do that on my own.”
“And it’s taken you this long to come to this realisation because…” Eris raised an eyebrow, amber gaze merciless. His dragon snarled, baring its teeth menacingly.
“I didn’t know Rhys would take things this far. I thought he’d want to find out everything about the bond before he made a decision on what to do with her. But he doesn’t want to wait, he wants her gone by tomorrow.”
“I assume he ordered you to do the deed?”
Azriel nodded, throat tight. “Yes. He ordered me to collect all information on the magic they used to create the bond before I…. before I kill her. Regardless of whether I came up with anything, he wants her eliminated by sunrise.”
This was probably the stupidest, craziest decision Azriel had ever made. Part of it felt wrong, betraying his found family after 500 years of peace. But when he reflected on those centuries, had he truly been happy? Had he truly felt like he was living a fulfilled life, content with what he was doing? A few weeks ago, Azriel would have been sure of his answer. Now he wasn’t, and that unsettled him.
Regardless, reached into his bag and pulled out the books Gwyn gave him. He took a breath and continued. “Which is why I brought every document the Night Court has on this magic to you. So Rhys wouldn’t get his hands on it.”
“You went to Gwyn?” Nesta burst out, rage dripping from her tongue.
“Yes.” Azriel admitted his guilt for putting Gwyn in this precarious position intensifying.
“You put her in danger by doing that!” The eldest Archeron hissed at him, her dragon responding in a similar tone. “If anything happens to her because of it, I will slaughter you, Azriel.”
He let out a dry laugh. “Gwyn said the same thing to me about you and (Y/N). I swore no matter what happened, nobody would find out I got this through her. She even put a knife to my throat.”
Eris spoke up again. “As much as I would truly love to believe you, if I recall correctly you were perfectly content sending (Y/N) to certain death weeks ago on an impossible mission under Rhysand’s orders.”
“I was trying to find a way out of it for her!” Azriel yelled, patience snapping. “A way for her to quietly flee and go build a life for herself far away from all this shit. I never told her because I didn’t want to scare her, or get her hopes up. I had the chance to explain this to her before…”
His voice trailed off, memories of seeing you strung up like an animal flashing through his mind. Azriel was no stranger to self hatred, but today it was striking him now more than ever.
Nesta’s lethal tone interrupted his thoughts. “Before what?” She demanded.
Azriel gulped, praying that the dragons wouldn’t make him their meal. “Before Rhysand interrupted and… took over.”
“Meaning?” Eris inquired, his dragon inching ever so slightly closer to the Illyrian.
“Meaning he thought I was being too soft, since I gave her water. He stopped the physical torture and spent hours trying to get inside her head until she passed out.”
“And he didn’t manage to do it?” Eris’ voice was laced with surprise, something uncharacteristic for the Autumn prince who always seemed to be two steps ahead of everyone.
“No.”
Eris and Nesta glanced at each other, unreadable expressions crossing their faces. Their dragons continued to stare down Azriel, awaiting whatever command would give them permission to incinerate him where he stood. He had a million questions for them – how the fuck did Eris have dragons? What did Beron say about all of this? Did they still plan on taking him out? But Azriel knew better than to ask them.
Nesta swung her legs to the side and crawled down the dragon’s side. To Azriel’s awe, the beast lowered its shoulder to the ground to make it easier for the female to climb off. Gracefully, Nesta’s feet met the ground and she patted the dragon’s neck. He remained frozen in his place as she stalked towards him. Like Gwyn, there was a new strength to her. This was not the half-starved Nesta who first came to the House of Wind. No, this was the female that stole from the Cauldron itself, whose name was whispered across the moors and valleys of Prythian, associated with pure death and power. Nesta’s steps were sure, silver fire expertly curling around her fingertips like Azriel’s own shadows as she stalked towards him like a lioness seizing up its prey.
“My war is not directly with you, Azriel,” Nesta said slowly. “But make no mistake. You are not innocent here. You may not have inflicted the most damage, but you willingly stood by and let your family tear me and (Y/N) down until they got pure submission. You let Cassian mock and belittle me at my lowest. You forced (Y/M)  into a job she did not want to do. You let Cassian force me to train as a warrior when that’s not at all what I wanted or needed. You didn’t do a damn thing to advocate for either of us because you’re so blinded by the sheltered little tower your circle has built over the last 500 years, ignorant to the pain you inflict on anyone who’s not a part of your family. You coming here on your own volition is the only thing in my eyes that could possibly redeem you. You will help us get (Y/N) back at all costs, or you will suffer at my hand more than you have ever suffered before.”
Being threatened for the third time that day, all Azriel could do was bow his head. “I understand.” He said.
“No, I don’t think you do.” Nesta hissed. “For your sake, let’s hope your change of heart isn’t too late.”
Azriel hadn’t even noticed Eris had climbed off his dragon and was walking towards Nesta. He stood beside her, gently resting a hand on her waist. Azriel tensed, half expecting Nesta to slap him away, but she did not. To his surprise, she looked comfortable with Eris. More so than she ever had been with Cassain. When Cassian touched Nesta, there was always some sexual suggestion beneath it. But not with Eris. Eris’ touch was comfort more than ownership, something Azriel did not expect.
In his heart, he realised Cassian and Nesta were not right for each other. It made no sense for them to be mates, and whatever they had going on was purely surface level sexual tension. There was nothing deep about it, no greater understanding of each other. Nesta and Eris seemed like a much more reasonable match, mirroring each other like they did with their dragons. As much as Azriel hated the male, and knew that these thoughts would crush Cassian’s heart, it reassured him that he had made the right choice.
“So, spymaster,” Eris piped up, cocking his head. “How are we doing to do this?”
And so Azriel began explaining.

Au where someone uses necromancy to try and revive ALL of Damians dead clones to kill the batfam. The bats are all caught up in traps and are busy trying to escape as neon green light cuts through the dark.
A large fist, clearly not belonging to Damian bursts through the summoning circle as a Solomon Grundy-ish figure slowly emerged and towered over the summoner. More...entities...rose from the magic circle as the spell caster ordered the Grundy look alike to attack them. The last of the beings, a somewhat normal if glowing girl, slipped out of the circle and its light faded into nothing as she floated there confused.
Grundy Jr, as Nightwing decided to call him, stomped towards Batmans cage and knocked all the bars away with a single swipe of his arm before picking up the tied up batman and...hugging him?!
Dick no longer knew what to think as the giant of a man continued to hug Bruce and say a word over and over again that sounded suspiciously like "Daddy"
His attention was drawn to a small green light zipping over to the lock on his shackles and undoing it, freeing him. The little light then landed on the bars of his own cage and made them seemingly disappear. He walked though, baffled but unhindered and was curious that the bars reappeared after the entity stopped making physical contact with it. Said light then burrowed into his hair.
The girl and another entity in a classic bedsheets ghost outfit were doing the same for the others as batman and Grundy Jr fought the confused spellcaster.
After the battle was over the girl made a phone call to her "cousin" Phantom. Who was apparently Robins secret (un)dead twin he never told any of them about. The magic user was dealt with, but now they had the new problem of 3 clones following them around calling them father/brother/sister respectively and refusing to go back to the spirit world or whatever.
Jason made the mistake of lifting up the bedsheet see what was under there, stared for a hot minute and yanked it back down. He refused to tell anyone what he saw.
Alfred was a bit...put off by his new grandchildren, but he loved them all no matter what shape or form they come in. And when Phantom appeared and agreed to help any way he could he knew he would be part of the family too someday. Especially with how Damian was hovering over him like an overprotective helicopter parent.
He was not prepared for the "perfect" clone to appear behind him. Silent and confused with no memory to call his own.
Danyals comment, "Well, I guess we're triplets now" earned him a glare from his older brother.

At Last
This is another thing that's been sitting in my drafts basically done for a few months now. Was talking to my friend about how it would be cool if the Spirit World was a legit afterlife and it would be interesting but really sad if the Avatars were kept separate, then I wrote this at 2am and promptly forgot about it.
-----
By now, Kyoshi had been away from Rangi longer than she'd been with her. She'd been here longer than she'd been alive, actually.
Where here was, she didn't exactly know. Some space only accessible to the ghosts of Avatars long past and, on occasion, the current Avatar, who seldom graced them with her full presence. Instead, they watched her life play out like a performance, chiming in where they could, but often serving as little more than her captive audience. How lucky they were.
It wasn't the current Avatar's fault. Kyoshi actually quite liked the fierce young Korra, for all that she could like someone she'd spoken to once and only once. Korra was mostly Aang's in the way Kyoshi had been mostly Kuruk's, but they were all shackled to her and would be until the end of her life, at which point she would join them as prisoners of her successor.
It was a miserable fate, one Kyoshi had no idea she'd be subjected to until it happened. Some Avatars carried the burden with grace, as they had in life, but Kyoshi's Avatarhood had been anything but graceful. Why should her afterlife be any different? She hated it here, and she wasn't afraid to let it be known.
All the Avatars knew how she felt, and still would even if she hadn't screamed it for years upon her first arrival. They could feel each other in some strange way, like they were all part of the same organism that some of them, namely her, would love nothing more than to break away from.
No one spoke much. Yangchen and Kuruk had entertained her when she was new, as she'd done for Roku when he was new, but when stuck together until the end of time, people tended to run out of things to say.
So Kyoshi did nothing at all. She simply drifted, lost in memories, wishing and wishing that she could leave, or that her loved ones could join her, or that anything of meaning would happen to her.
She got her wish seventeen short years into the Era of Korra. The cycle broke and started anew, leaving everyone but the poor soul who hadn't yet joined them behind it. At long last, they were free.
They were still together when they reappeared, torn from what had been their home for so long and tossed into the real Spirit World, but there was no need to stay that way. Some left immediately, off to find loved ones or just see something new for once, but others stuck around to say goodbye.
Kyoshi nodded to Roku. Shook Kuruk's hand. Gave Yangchen a hug.
Then she was running, faster than she ever had in life, toward something she hadn't felt in centuries. It was her own dear heart, beating somewhere far away, still waiting after all this time. Kyoshi couldn't wait to see her again.
However, it was not Rangi that made her stop. Instead, it was a trio of spirits; a winged snake resting atop a living rock, beside what appeared to be a cloud of sand and pebbles. She recognized them all instantly, and they recognized her. They had become something new, but they had not forgotten what they had once been.
Her parents, she had no interest in. Perhaps one day - there was all the time in the world, after all - but not today. But Lek... she couldn't just pass him by.
"Hello, brother," she murmured. The other two seemed to realize she was not here for them and backed away, leaving her room to approach the boy she'd hardly known and yet managed to love and miss so fiercely.
He changed as she drew nearer, becoming the scrappy young Earthbender he'd been when they were still alive.
"It's been a while, sister," he replied. He stepped forward and embraced her.
"I've missed you." She was too tall to even rest her chin atop his head, so she just squeezed him tight. "The others...?"
"Kirima and Wong are always nearby," he said. "Topknot hangs around sometimes. She's not here now, though."
Kyoshi snorted upon hearing Rangi's old nickname. She'd almost forgotten it entirely. She wondered how many things had slipped her mind over the years.
"I have to go to her," Kyoshi said. "I'll come back to see you again, but I have to go to her now."
"We all understand," Lek promised, and released her. "When you come back, will you talk to them?"
He didn't look at them, but Kyoshi knew he meant her mother and father.
"I'll think about it," was the best she could give him. He must have matured greatly after being here so long, because he didn't press her. Instead, he smiled and let her move on.
Beyond him and her parents was a spacious forest, full of other spirits she knew were not the ghosts of humans, except for one. He stood out to her, and she stopped for him, a beautiful white bird that radiated fatherly love. Her true father. Kelsang.
It hurt so much to see him again, but it was a good pain. He flew to her, changing as he did, and that beloved old face brought tears to her eyes.
"I'm sorry," they both said at once, yet neither believed there was anything for them to forgive. They embraced fiercely, and a softly spoken "I love you," was their compromise.
They stood there, together again, for so long that Kyoshi thought Rangi might come crashing impatiently through the forest. It would've been nice, honestly. The thought reminded her of old times.
"Kuruk is free, too," Kyoshi mumbled into his shoulder, almost as an afterthought.
"I'll see him soon," Kelsang replied. "For now, you're looking for someone more important. Let me guide you."
Then, he was the bird again, winging away across a sky far brighter than that of the world from which they'd come. Kyoshi followed him, dazzled by the light in his form. She followed blindly, trusting, and he did not fail her.
They came to a flowering field beyond a sparkling river, where two bright red felines lay side by side. The creatures were quite literally identical, but Kyoshi could tell them apart easily. One was her mother-in-law, and the other was her very soul.
They rose together, their bronze eyes wide and waiting. Hei-Ran did not move or change as Kelsang landed beside her, a neighbor checking up on things.
Rangi was her old self in an instant, sprinting across the field to hurl herself into Kyoshi's waiting arms for the first time in centuries.
Her glowing girl's weight had been no great burden to her in life, and here they both felt weightless, but Kyoshi collapsed to her knees anyway, holding her beloved wife close with every selfish intention of keeping her there for all of eternity. Rangi didn't seem to mind one bit.
"How?" she asked through the most beautiful tears Kyoshi had ever seen. "I thought... the Avatars-"
"We're free," Kyoshi replied with a sob. "There's a new cycle and no need for us anymore. I can be with you again."
Rangi wept freely into Kyoshi's chest.
"I looked for you," she said. "I looked for you for years, even though every spirit I met told me the Avatars were somewhere else. I never accepted that I couldn't see you again."
"I'm here now." Free of the rules of etiquette, Kyoshi pressed a long overdue kiss to Rangi's scalp. "I'll be here forever."

Happy New Year Mr. Mouse
A short thing I prepared in honor of this occasion. I'm aware Mickey Mouse is not public domain outside of the US and that Disney can still use their trademark laws and fancy lawyers. But this means so much to me in just what I've believed about copyright for years. Disney isn't the main villain in the fight for a more robust public domain but they certainly are and were one of the big ones. It feels nice. Let us celebrate. Here is a short fic I wrote in the Mouse's honor on this day. Happy public domain day everyone!
An anthropomorphic mouse, wearing overalls and a hat arrived at the local bar. He distinctly was wearing no gloves, something unusual for this time of year given how cold it could get but most of the other bar flies didn't think much of it.
"I'm sort of part of the gang now boys, give me a frosty one to celebrate"
The bartender was a woman wearing a scarf and steampunk looking goggles resting on her head.
"Ah the king himself joining my little bar, you know what for the occasion its on the house" the woman said, pouring the mouse a beer and sliding it over to him.
"Name's Jenny" she said. "And you need no introduction. You're Mickey Mouse, right?"
"That's right ma'am"
"You know you just being in here is gonna upset some powerful people right?"
"I've served my 95 years, I deserve to be here" Mickey said, proceeding to take a long chug at his beer.
"I don't argue with that, in fact some of the folks around here have been counting the days. Congrats"
"Thank you"
"Seen my brother around?"
"Oswald?" Jenny asked.
"Well, yeah I guess I should've been more specific"
"Yeah he's always around somewhere. I'm sure he'd be happy to see you"
There werent many people in the bar, people could come and go but there was certain requirements for entering Jenny's Public Drinkery. The crowd that day was mostly a few regulars like Sherlock Holmes a detective type with a deerstalker hat or Winnie the Pooh, a yellow-ish brown bear distinctly lacking any red shirts in fact he had burnt all his red shirts on the first day he arrived.
People found it to be odd but it wasn't uncommon for people to destroy something that symbolized their previous cosmic shackles that tethered them to the unseen forces beyond their control. They relished in their newfound freedom.
Besides those two there was Yrina, a blonde woman wearing odd looking pink clothes and blue gloves, like a flashy looking cosmonaut. She had arrived wet and disoriented and talking about sea monsters yet didn't elaborate.
"Mickey, cheers to your freedom. Cheers to all our freedoms" Yrina said, being already on her way to being drunk despite her only having been there for an hour or so. "Never take it for granted Mickey"
She proceeded to chug a huge mug of ale and slam the tankard down on the table, demanding a refill which Jenny obliged.
"Sorry about Yrina, she's a space pirate and her manners could use a bit work" Jenny whispered to Mickey.
Changing her volume she said: "You know Mickey, we were kind of not sure how this day would go. I was thinking of throwing a party for you with all your siblings and stuff. But I guess chatting to me and these three is your welcome party. Sorry about that"
"No ma'am its fine. You've been kind. I can mingle later on and this is nice. I do know Winnie, him and I go way back" Mickey raised his glass in the direction of Winnie and nodded.
"You're very kind to be there when folks like me break free. From what I've heard it can be disorienting and overwhelming and being here now I can vouch for that.
"Yeah that's why I built this place. I wanted to be there for everyone. To give them a welcome"
"How do you have time to greet all these people?"
"I'm Jenny Everywhere, I can handle more things than you can shake a stick at"
"You certainly made me feel welcome and at ease. I think I'll sit here for a while and take it in and then try to find Oswald"
He took off his hat and threw it in the garbage can next to him.
"Happy New Year everyone" Mickey cheered, met with equal enthusiasm from everyone there.
