I need a Buddie fanfic inspired in "Down Bad" by Taylor Swift's because that song screams Buddie.

Imagine this...

Eddie already left Marisol because he realized that he actually likes men, but Buck is still with Tommy and Eddie realizes that everything he wants in a relationship he already had with his "best friend", but now not even that exists and they have to learn to live in this new world where Buck begins to spend less and less time with the Diaz boys.

"Now I'm down bad crying at the gym

Everything comes out teenage petulance

"What if I can't have him"

"I might just die, it would make no difference."

Down bad, waking up in blood

Staring at the sky, come back and pick me up

The only moments Eddie and Buck spend together now are in the gym between shifts, and as Buck trains, Eddie thinks about if this is all they're going to do now, if this is all he can have from the man he loves.

If the hands that saved him from bleeding to death in a street on LA would only touch him again just to heal some wound, but would never touch him because they really want to.

Buck will never touch him the way Eddie wants.

"Did you take all my old clothes?

Just to leave me here naked and alone

In a field in my same old town

That somehow seems so hollow now

They'll say I'm nuts if I talk about the existence of you

For a moment I was heaven struck

Like I lost my twin

What if I can't have him

Down bad

Waving at the ship

And Buck doesn't notice any of this.

On the rare occasions that he spends the night at the Diaz house, he continues to steal Eddie's sleeping clothes.

And Eddie always has to stop himself from shouting how much he loves him, finding relief only when he sends long messages to Hen, who tells him that it's crazy to suffer so much for Buck if he's not going to do something about it, but Eddie can't do anything.

The prospect of losing Buck feels like a piece of his soul being ripped away.

"Encounters closer and closer

All your indecent exposures

How dare you say that it's -

I'll build you a fort on some planet

Where they can all understand it

How dare you think it's romantic

Leaving me safe and stranded

Cause what if I was in love

What if I can't have us.

And one whole day, it just...explodes, right in Eddie's face who has to listen (again) as Buck talks one night about Tommy, as he is the first person who, beyond seeing Buck for what he really es, he also loves him completely, unconditionally, and Eddie just can't stand it because it's not true.

It isn't true.

Because Eddie has loved Buck for everything he is for years and he's not going to stay silent again.

He refuses the idea of living in a world where Evan Buckley doesn't know that the first person who loved him with all his heart is Eddie Diaz.

(And we could have an chapter dedicated solely to Buck figuring out his life and returning a week later to his favorite couch because he's not willing to lose the love of Eddie Diaz.)

honestly this isn’t as much to do with her as a character as it is to do with the people who’ve played her but she has done so much for my self esteem in a really roundabout way. as someone with dark brown eyes and frizzy kinda untamable brown hair reading fic about her helped me appreciate more things about myself.

if you struggle with self image i really cannot recommend highly enough finding a character who looks and acts like you and reading stories where someone is absolutely, irrevocably in love with them. whether that’s platonically or romantically. i know it’s weird but being able to look in the mirror or at some aspect of my personality that i don’t like and say “that’s still lovable” is WONDERFUL.

amateur

i forgot how wonderful it is to post in small fandoms like yes.... this niche is just big enough for two <3

began writing around the end of august and just dropped every other wip to focus all my attention on writing this very slowly. it was kind of nostalgic.. when i started writing fic again in 2020 i’d only write one thing at a time and each work took me 6-8 weeks to finish while i reread the finished bits over and over for my own enjoyment which is 100% what happened this time around

really enjoyed describing locations in detail - something i usually skim over. sometimes.. incorporating gameplay can be fun

writing oneshots is 30% ecstatic scrawling down ideas and lines, 30% having a great time revising sections and mulling over lines, and the rest % suffering over tricky boring stuff (ie. transition between conversations or locations, time passing, kissing)

related note i think i hate the word 'that'

as is classic me, this began with a lighthearted idea about what being date’s drinking buddy entails (horrible drunk hookups) but things rapidly got out of hand ..

also originally wanted to write a limo bj scene bc What is the point of that limo if not to get sloppy in the back. but it ended up not quite fitting :(

lately i've really been into how the skin on your jaw/throat loosens as you age (pls read that in a douchey hipster voice thx) so i wanted to include that detail for date but.. he's only in his 40s.... sigh

These are fab!

4: who initiates affection? I think Hawkeye really really wants to but is afraid this thing might be one-sided and he’s about to wreck their friendship, so he’s cautious. Of course he will still be goofy and flirty and touchy-feely but that’s just normal Hawkeye. So I think officially he waits for Mulcahy to do something back, and then he can ask hey does this mean what I think it means ;)

15: what songs remind me of them? Button up Your Overcoat lol. I wish I had more answers for this one, I’ll have to think.

20: how do they comfort each other when upset? The show gives us such lovely scenes of them talking each other through hardships, I think once they’re in a closer relationship they lose that need for talking it out. They can just sit with each other and understand what’s wrong, and the fact they’re together and don’t have a word of judgment to say means everything. Hawkeye is also fond of hugs.

4: I’m saying the same as before lol, Hawkeye wants to be the first to be affectionate - arguably he already is affectionate with all of his buddies - but he needs to wait to make sure they are both reading this thing the same way, he doesn’t want to cross a line. So he has to take his sweet time waiting for BJ

8: what do they love most about each other? Hawkeye is so weak hearing BJ’s stories about life back home. This guy is so textbook romantic and has his life all put together, and I don’t think Hawkeye has ever envisioned anything like this coming true for himself, so he likes to listen and play along. He admires that BJ is composed in OR too, I don’t think he expected that after BJ’s first day on the job, but the guy really is cool under pressure (to a fault, and breaks as soon as the environment is changed, but still.) BJ loves that Hawkeye is just… so silly. He really needed that.

15: I’m afraid I don’t have any songs in mind for them either. I need to listen to some from the era I suspect.

18: how do they take care of each other when sick or wounded? Ah well I love them so much because both of them completely freak out if the other isn’t well. They hide it, though, because they don’t want to alarm each other. I think Trapper has had to give Hawkeye stitches a couple times and then turns around and his hands are shaking. When Trapper is sick Hawkeye wants to spend all his time with him to feed him and make sure he gets better, he won’t even eat! But he has other work to do :(

23: defining characteristics of their relationship? It’s important to find someone you can be really silly with tbh. They have this unspoken understanding of what the other needs and it’s really cool. The ‘leaning on’ each other is just like, thank you for distracting me from the hell I was going through, thank you for not being too hard on me, thank you for letting me exist no questions asked.

Let's (re)Read The Eye of the World! Chapter 42: Remembrance of Dreams

Rest easy, child. Moiraine is keeping you safe from the spoilers. This post is filled with spoilers for the whole of The Wheel of Time series and I am trying to get them stabbed into you, but you can avoid your fate! Just block the tags! Leave this post! Read the damn books or whatever! And don't blame me if you see spoilers from here on out.

This chapter's icon is the ravens, a way of representing the Shadow that the gang is desperately trying to find a way to escape. Luckily, there's nothing really going on to threaten them in this chapter.

He took five steps into the library before he realized that everyone else had stopped, crowded together in the doorway, openmouthed and goggling. A brisk blaze crackled in the fireplace, and Loial was sprawled on the long couch, reading, a small black cat with white feet curled and half asleep on his stomach. When they entered he closed the book with a huge finger marking his place and gently set the cat on the floor, then stood to bow formally.

Aww, Loial snuggles with kitties too. This book doesn't have enough kitty snuggles, there should have been one in literally every chapter.

(Also it's cute that Rand forgets how unusual Ogiers are from everyone else's perspective because he's just that buddy-buddy with Loial already. Rand's a good friend.)

Loial liked to talk, and talk at length when he had the slightest chance, though he usually seemed to think a story needed two or three hundred years of background to make it understood. His sense of time was very strange; to him three hundred years seemed a reasonable length of time for a story or explanation to cover.

To an Ogier, this is only providing a decade or so of context, which isn't anywhere near as much.

“You always were crazy,” Perrin said, and for a moment he, too, sounded as of old. “No,” Nynaeve said. Tears made her eyes bright, but she was smiling. “None of us blames you.”

Dammit people, more hugs! Hug Mat! Hug Moiraine! Hug Loial especially and then tell me how fluffy it was.

“Yes,” Moiraine said quietly, “he still has the dagger.” The laughter and talk was still going on among the rest of the Emond’s Field folk, but she had noticed his sudden intake of breath and had seen what had caused it. She moved closer to his chair, where she did not have to raise her voice for him to hear clearly.

Rand again shows he's the overall cleverest of the group in that he notices what's up right away, and Moiraine briefly flirts with being the kind of assistant to Rand that she should be by telling him the facts straight out. See how well you two get along in this conversation, Moiraine? All of your conversations could have been like that!

Rand made a sound, and Moiraine raised an eyebrow at him. “I thought they were looking for Mat and me,” he said.

Rand's reacting to Moiraine's infodumping, which again shows just how great a team they are when Moiraine is providing all the facts instead of trying to manipulate them! This sequence is really good in the trust she offers to everyone and it's a shame she reverts to her old habits again by the second book. I blame Siuan showing up, it made her feel young again.

“That’s what I always say,” Mat said blandly, though he was suddenly grinning hard, and Egwene asked in a decidedly neutral voice, “Who’s Elayne?”

Egwene, you spent several weeks dancing with the hottest boy you could find. You don't get to be pissy about Rand interacting with another girl. It's just annoyingly hypocritical and we are leaving the part of the book where romantic misunderstandings are fun.

I met some Tuatha’an a few years back, and they wanted to learn the songs we sing to trees. Actually, the trees won’t listen to very many anymore, and so not many Ogier learn the songs. I have a scrap of that Talent, so Elder Arent insisted I learn. I taught the Tuatha’an what they could learn, but the trees never listen to humans. For the Traveling People they were only songs, and just as well received for that, since none was the song they seek.

Please internalize this, WoT fandom. The Tuatha'an aren't stupid, they're well aware of the Ogier songs, and the Ogier songs aren't what they're looking for. No song is actually what they're looking for, but the Ogier songs can't even be sung properly by people so there's no match here at all.

“That’s what the Tinkers told us,” Perrin said. “Yes,” Egwene said, “the Aiel story.” Moiraine turned her head slowly. No other part of her moved. “What story?”

See what it feels like when people won't communicate useful information, Moiraine?

(Also I am 90% certain that it was only the Three Oaths that kept Perrin and Egwene alive through this exchange, and also Mat and Rand once the dream info comes out.)

Had I known after the first such, I might have been able to. . . . There has not been a Dreamwalker in Tar Valon for nearly a thousand years, but I could have tried.

I'm pretty sure that the real reason the boys don't tell Moiraien, Pattern-wise, is that she would have worn herself out trying to help. She sadly cannot.

He can still send Halfmen against you, and Trollocs, and Draghkar, and other things, but he cannot make you his unless you let him.

I'm mostly quoting this bit to show that Moiraine and Lan are in definite philosophical disagreement here. She's way more hopeful about the task at hand than he is, though these Two Rivers folk are probably making her less optimistic by the millisecond.

Out of the mass of humanity, the Dark One can touch an individual only by chance, unless that person seeks it. But for a time, at least, you three are central to the Pattern.

Also of course, the boys aren't being touched by the Dark One. They're instead being influenced by Ishamael, who is now free enough to do whatever he pleases.

“The Father of Lies is a good name for the Dark One,” Moiraine replied. “It was always his way to seed the worm of doubt wherever he could. It eats at men’s minds like a canker. When you believe the Father of Lies, it is the first step toward surrender. Remember, if you surrender to the Dark One, he will make you his.”

And this is the part where Moiraine loses the trust again. She could have told Rand the truth, but she sidesteps so blatantly instead that he has no choice but to distrust her.

“The Pattern presents a crisis, and at the same time a way to surmount it. If I did not know it was impossible, I could almost believe the Creator is taking a hand. There is a way.”

I wonder if Robert Jordan read much of Asimov's Foundation. In those stories, a man had deduced a way to predict the future in broad strokes and had established the titular Foundation to avert the 30,000 years of barbarism he foresaw. As the project would still take a thousand years, he left behind recordings identifying various turning points and leaving hints for the Foundation's members to use to swing events the proper way - they were referred to in-universe as "Seldon crises".

Much like Wheel of Time, Asimov died with this story unfinished and had later authors revisit the series, though sadly they only did a prequel trilogy instead of resolving the cliffhanger of the final chronological novel. It also is getting adapted these days and attracting a lot of alt-right rage for having women and people of color in the cast instead of the series of interchangeable white dudes - and hopefully Amazon's Wheel adaptation will continue the parallels by having a much stronger second season after a shakier first one.

Anyway I dunno why this notion struck me here, it's just something about the way Moiraine said it. Fun fact: the Creator can intervene and we'll be seeing that before the book ends, though he won't be doing much useful.

“No!” Loial said, an emphatic rumble like thunder. Everyone turned to look at him and he blinked under the attention, but there was nothing hesitant about his words. “If we enter the Ways, we will all die—or be swallowed by the Shadow.”

Oh yeah, this is probably another thing that the chapter icon was referencing. But we'll see more about that soon. Next chapter: more bad dreams!

hi batty, i've been binge-reading "franz kafka, frank zappa" this summer and first off, its phenomenal, seriously -- and secondly, i was wondering if you listened to a particular group of albums or artists when writing it? i'm...so obsessed with the vibes of that particular fic. (im assuming nf!r was in the rotation? :))

hi, thanks so much and I'm so glad you've enjoyed it!! There should a playlist that's linked at the end of the fic (probably end of the last chapter?) but that was more of an exercise in storytelling than what I was actually listening to then. There's a few that will probably be repeats to what I'll put below.

First off, yeah, Norman fucking Rockwell. I don't think I can say anything about this album that hasn't been said elsewhere, but in brief: LDR has always been really good at writing cohesive albums and being purposeful in how she arranges her songs, but this album really elevated her as a storyteller. She's been an interesting artist to follow because her albums have always seemed to be a reflection of her personally, and in NFR! she takes her character seriously, like, as an adult, in a way that isn't true for any of her previous albums. As far as story goes, I still appreciate that whether she's still involved with the person she's writing about in the first half of the album by the end is ambiguous. You could argue either way or that it doesn't matter.

Honorable mention to the first half of Father John Misty's I Love You, Honeybear (title track through Nothing Good Ever Happens; I emphasize the title track and hesitate to include Strange Encounter, which says something). FJM is such a clever writer; this album is so nihilist and gross at times and then romantic at others, and the fact that he's both so good at juggling them and will also give you whiplash is so impressive. I think I could take pieces of my NFR! and rename them ILYH. A couple of other relevant FJM songs: Buddy's Rendezvous, Nancy From Now On, Hangout at the Gallows (the Gallows also used to be a bar in Boston, not that I think that has any relevance to FJM)

Second honorable mention to Glass Animal's Dreamland; the whole album is a really good piece of storytelling, but I would say only the first and final songs are relevant here. Mostly because the title track (Dreamland) was definitely an inspiration, and because (spoiler but not really) the final track (Helium) is connected so masterfully to the first. Both great good examples of tone and atmosphere done really well.

I might add more thoughts/explanation to this later, but those are my quick thoughts, and a few one-off songs:

um anyway finishing my earlier thoughts about the red white blue movie and whether those guys have chemistry. so EYE think they are very clearly buddies and it’s pretty much ridiculous to say they have “no chemistry” however what those people are TRYING to say is that they don’t have sexual chemistry. which is almost unfair because well we all know people who have read red white and royal blue don’t know what sex is so how would they know the difference. sorry that was mean. i just think people who read cringe books and think they’re not cringe are probably not fucking i just think there’s probably correlation there idk. hey i’m not fucking either you can’t get mad at me for saying that. we’re all femcels here… anyway. yeah i think what the “no chemistry” crowd means is just that they don’t have like. romantic or sexual chemistry that they can see. i don’t know if they do man my brain is so confused on this front i don’t even have a stance like i’ve seen too many edits of those guys to songs i like i want to say they have chemistry but what do i know i just listen to taylor swift. what i DO want to say is that the other guy. not my sad eyes prince. the other one. he gives Straight to me. which is crazy because he’s literally an actor. but he gives Straight he gives Bad At Acting he gives nothing. could they really not have casted that better idk maybe i’m wrong about him he just seems underwhelming to me. very like. cobra kai actor core. sorry to those guys. but you cannot stand there and tell me you think all those people are very great actors. some are really good i mean courtney henggeler has been carrying that show on her back for years. but like. ok i don’t want to get mean you can just infer for yourself which cobra kai actors are not great actors i know we all know. what was i saying. oh yeah that guy gives nothing to me he’s very lame. sad eyes is giving his all though i can’t wait to see him cry in this movie it’s gonna be crazyyyy. also i really hope they do let him sing a queen song tee showed me a post with a passage from the book where he sang a queen song at karaoke if that happens in the movie i’ll dylan spontaneous that would be so huge. basically my stance is that um that movie is very likely going to be kind of bad so it probably doesn’t matter that much if you think the leads want to have crazy sex with each other because it’s biggest audience is going to be book fans who will delude themselves into thinking it’s good no matter what. also have you guys seen that one picture of those guys idk where it’s from but they’re like on the floor and someone else i guess stood on a chair to take the picture. i love that picture of them to be honest that’s the image that got me on the side of Yes They Have It vs my previous stance which was No They Don’t. not to do rpf. unless. no i’m kidding i obviously would never do rpf unless there were at least three random interviews of them on youtube i could watch on repeat for a week not that i’ve ever done that with anyone. quickly does anyone here remember anything i posted about in 2021 please say no. ok i think this post is over now bye

Buddie & Ode to Joy

Tagging @raiphend. I think you read my other post on this (thanks!) and might be interested in this one.

Beethoven’s Ode to Joy was used in two episodes of 911: Jinx 406 and Dumb Luck 514. The piece is so epic and also not in line with the show’s usual soundtrack selections. Though to be fair the song was only hummed in Dumb Luck. I don’t think we can ignore it either case. I shared my initial unformed thoughts about Ode to Joy in a Buddie context here. I finally think I have something more coherent to say lol.

Ode to Joy is an epic symphony about the joy and ecstasy of coming together. It’s about humanity joining with the divine/universe, humanity joining with one another, and individuals coming together in love/romantic union. I think it’s intentional that the song was chosen for episodes about the universe attempting to guide us and about finding meaning in the apparent chaos of existence.

In Jinx, the firefam is running all over LA dealing with a range of emergencies because Ravi used the word “quiet”. In that episode, the firefam themselves experience two emergencies. The powerline falls on the firetruck and they have to be rescued and Brian steals the firetruck, preventing them from helping people in need. The firefam conversation during the powerline collapse was the one that brought us “the universe is screaming at you and you refuse to listen” comment. This was Buck’s line to Eddie. The second firefam emergency situation brought us Eddie asking Brian to be brave and do the right thing and get unstuck from his pattern. Both situations underscore the fact that Eddie couldn’t hear the universe so universe had to raise her voice to be heard. Isn’t that what a 911 call is? Raising your voice so that you can be heard, found, and rescued. The universe was signaling that Eddie was in a state of emergency way back in s4, just nobody quite noticed, least of all him!

The emergencies (among other things) were the sign for Eddie to seek help and make important changes in his life. Unfortunately he misread the signs. Remember, he reconnected with and started dating Ana in Jinx! He misheard what the universe was screaming for him to do. I think that misread of the situation is marked by the fireworks scene in Jinx where a man mishandles the fireworks which are usually signs of joyful celebration and actually accidentally ends up burning his house/home down. This dangerous scene unfolds while Ode to Joy is playing! Eddie’s growing interest in Ana was distracting him from the deeper more relevant issues in his life in addition to her just not being the person he really wanted in his life. Eddie needed a joyful union or two in his life but not with Ana. Ode to Joy felt so mismatched with what was going on in the episode and I think that was on purpose.

In Dumb Luck, the firefam saves a woman impaled by a stop sign. She had a big red flag on the back of her bicycle and a sign asking people to share the road. The woman had been humming Ode to Joy just before the accident. She was basically calling for people to come together and share the road with her. To slow down and be patient and enjoy the ride. Remember, the truck went too fast over a speed bump which sent the stolen stop sign flying at her. Buck was on that call. I think Buck’s reservations about Taylor were the speed bump that he ignored and it’s causing both him and Taylor (who I don’t care about and also don’t full on hate) a lot of grief. On top of that, Buck was on that call with Lucy. They worked together to pull out the stop sign. I think Lucy is another speed bump on Buck’s road to Eddie. Eddie being the one he should be sharing the road with but he’s dealing with the Taylor of it all and Lucy acted as a catalyst for all the drama that’s needed to break Taylor and Lucy up. I really don’t think he’s going to date her or anything. She’s just there as an additional sign that his relationship with Taylor is not good for him at all.

Again we get Ode to Joy mismatched with the situation. A lonely person on a mostly quiet road being bypassed and ignored by passersby. She’s angry when they swerve around her because they’re not sharing the road but still she’s humming Ode to Joy. I think it symbolizes the way that Buck wants a deep and meaningful romantic connection with someone but he’s on the Taylor road right now and he’s somewhat isolated. He doesn’t have her interact much with the 118/Eddie (and with the exception of the dinner in 511) it’s usually for work when she does interaction marginally with them.

The person that Buck does seem to be sharing the road with is Eddie but he hasn’t realized that yet. The person Eddie is being brave with and getting unstuck with is Buck but he doesn’t seem to fully realize that yet either, or he hasn’t admitted it to himself.

Ode to Joy is about honoring the universe’s call to come together and to be together, to share our lives and joys. Both Eddie and Buck want that and need that but they are taking detours left and right. Eddie has slowed down and stopped to check his GPS and reroute but Buck is still cycling down that lonely back road humming the tune but not actually building the kind of life that with manifest the spirit of Ode to Joy. Well, he’s totally building that life with Eddie but that won’t click with him until he realizes that he’s doing it!

I’m a k-pop enjoyer, I listen to several groups (which I can’t list one by one...) as a casual listener and my ultimate favorite groups are RIIZE and aespa.

I grew up watching and reading The Adventures of Tintin and Detective Conan, so it’s safe to say that mystery holds a special place in my heart. - dick and babs were the ultimate gossip buddies. whenever dick was with the titans for long periods of time, babs always filled him in on everything

dick, immediately locking doors so his teammates don’t hear the mad shit about to be dropped on main: tell me everything

- vice versa too, dick filled babs in on everything going on with the titans and all they can say is thank god those lines are bat secured with no villains being able to listen in, imagine deathstroke hearing through bat gossip that joey’s dating who?!?! 😳

- batkids have been and always will be the holder of superhero gossip. it’s a business, you see, but we’re getting off topic 😡

- whenever jason didn’t want to be in the manor (fight with bruce, boredom, etc) he went to wherever the fuck babs lived and they would facetime dick and talk mad shit. it was a thing.

- despite them all being able to drive, babs was the only one during this time with an actual, legitimate, legal license (jason was too young to have a license and dick is too lazy/busy/whatever-excuse-he-wants-to-use to take the permit and driving test) so babs drove them around everywhere and it was a mess™ consisting of a bunch of backseat drivers

- “dick omg look at this video i found from the batcave” “omg he said robin gives him magic” “robin gives him magic” they both cry about it for years to come

- babs sometimes kidnapped jason after school after telling the head of wayne manor (alfred) and took him to get ice cream, then to the library while she worked. jason was the greatest kid in the library, he even had his own throne special chair just for him whenever he came provided by library staff who adored this absolute angel.

- jason 🤝 babs 🤝 dick -> i believe in annoying yet endearing nicknames supremacy

- nicknames include (some used by some more than others or just one, or by both equally because they’re annoying pick and choose my good people)

- barbie movie marathons because barbie is an iconic legend and they all recognize it. they have the fucking “she’s the queen of the WA-A-A-AVES” song memorized along with all other barbie movie songs, they sing it on patrol.

- dick and jason’s sibling dynamic was and is basically “ur a little shit and i hate you but i will literally kill for you”

- dick had tension with bruce while jason was just a little shit who would totally cause drama for the sake of it, and people never take advantage of this absolute power duo for destroying bruce

- dick sending cryptid texts to jason through a burner phone because he’s dramatic jason totally knew it was him about things that drive bruce mad, like leaving the shower turned to the coldest setting before bruce got there, leaving the lights in the batcave on, etc. jason, a wise little child, totally took advantage of this. bruce came to accept his fate

- the gc names, guys the group chat names

- jason crashing into titans tower whenever he wants and dick doesn’t bat (hAH) an eye, occasionally he very sweetly asks babs to come with him and she agrees but only sometimes because some people have jobs, jason—wait dick is being flirted with by who?!?! i’ll leave it up to your imagination ;) and they totally crashed titans missions too

- one time bruce was busy with the league while alfred was on vacation and bruce absolutely could not dip (i’m imagining bruce getting a call from the headmaster during an honest to god fight and bruce just picking up while punching the daylights out of some asshole) (“mr wayne, what is that noise in the background?” “sorry, headmaster, the cat is having a seizure”), so when jason got into a “fight” (read: some jackass picking on jason before he snapped and yelled at him and the bitchass kid tried to punch him and jason’s no quitter) bruce called dick who was an adult and legally family (yes dick is adopted sometime after jason was, stay mad) like “son... son please” and dick was like “oh no need to plead with me, this is too good” but of course this bitchass doesn’t have an actual lisence yet and he was hanging out with babs anyways so he and babs rolled up to gotham academy and the kids stared at them like “holy shit they’re so cool” ya dick and babs are those power couple, whether romantic or not, that turn heads, they’re just that powerful strolled into the office, bailed jason out while intimidating the headmaster because the altercation was the result of school staff negligence of actual bullying like those cliche tropes, said “ayyy you got that brat good” and get him chili dogs or whatever the fandom made robin jason’s favorite food. omg i just made an entire fanfic in rough draft form someone please steal it and write it in full form and send me the link

- jason is very very tiny, you see. babs and dick pick him up and move him for any reason, whether because they want to sit on that chair or to just throw him out of harm’s way and take the bullet for themselves.

- jason and dick both get adorable blushes on their faces it’s genetic yes that’s how genetics work shut up meanwhile babs’ ears turn red when she’s embarrassed and all three of them clown each other for it

- i yelled about this to my mutual (cough cough @littlespaceboii) who also added to this absolute dogshit headcanon and then in the discord full of mutuals, but the basement of wayne manor is haunted. dick found it when he was a little gremlin (i stand by that dick was the original demon child) (“you see damian, before there was you there was me” the real reason he was good with damian lmfao) and was like “omg this is so cool” @littlespaceboii came up with that it was just alfred fucking with bruce and so when jason first came and dick was comfy around him he was like “so have you been in the basement” and jason was like “im literally robin i’ve been in the batcave?!?!” and dick goes “no the basement, the haunted one” and jason’s like “hAUNTED?!?!” cuz jason has at least some self preservations and knows not to fuck with the spookies until he too became a spooky and bruce was like “there’s no ghost it’s not haunted” because he’s a skeptic and a party pooper and babs is like “no go on let him finish” even though she knows full well there are no ghosts or does she? and uhhhh basically they becomes ghostbusters 2.0 but cooler and funnier

- this trio is basically baby pan/bisexual jason and two resident expert pan/bisexuals solidarity but that’s literally canon. they go to pride every year that jason’s alive what who said that?

- they all tease each other for their crushes like all siblings/family friends do, i don’t need to say it but it’s important that’s emphasized for my well being
