"Ikaris? What are you doing?" Y/N asked, looking down at the Eternal currently sunbathing. His hands were behind him head, exposing his hairy pits and he had sunglasses on his face.
"What does it look like, Duckling? I'm sunbathing."
"Can Eternals even get tanned?" Y/N took the chair next to him.
Ikaris pulled his shades down and exposed his blue eyes to the sunlight. He blinked the spots dancing in his vision away as he turned to Y/N. "Of course we can. We've just never had the chance to do stuff like this." He gestures towards the pool and juice bar nearby.
"You mean sitting here next to a chlorine smelling pool of water next to an overpriced fruity drinks bar, while wearing a tight black speedo?" Y/N raised an eyebrow.
"I mean a vacation. Fun in the sun. And you noticed my speedo?"
"I mean it doesn't leave much to the imagination what you're packing downstairs. And I'm not the only one who's noticed. A couple of women were at the edge of the pool, staring at you and giggling." Ikaris looked and saw that indeed the women were looking at him. One was a pretty blonde in a red bikini. Her friend had gorgeous dark hair and skin as warm and as inviting as cocoa. She wore a purple swimsuit. They saw Ikaris looking at them as they smiled and winked invitingly.
"Looks like someone's got fun times tonight." Y/N noted.
"Oh? Is someone jealous?" Ikaris lit a cigarette.
Y/N used his powers to blow it out. "Not jealous of anything. And you shouldn't smoke. Bad for your lungs. If you have lungs."
"Why are you bothering me again?" Ikaris asked.
Y/N shrugged his shoulders. "I want you to come play with me in the pool."
"Why not ask anyone else?"
"Doing couple shit. Amongst other things."
"I see." Ikaris laid back down.
"Come on, Ikaris. Please? One game of chicken or something."
"Mmm...nah. I'm good as is."
"Fine." Y/N used his magic and pulled Ikaris's shades off his face and on to his own. "You'll have to catch me in the water if you want these back." He ran towards the pool and jumped in.
Ikaris sighed and stood up as he looked at Y/N, eyed flashing golden slightly. "You better hope I don't catch you. Because you're gonna be sorry." He dove into the pool.

i hate marinette, here's why. (i don't hate her, i just don't like her.)
Reasons why i hate her:
Marinette’s behavior is just way too creepy and it’s NOT endearing when she sniffs his pillow or stalks him.
Tumblr media
She’s become too boring and is annoyingly insecure about everything, and you’d think that after a lot of time around Adrien she’d get used to being around him but no because plot
Adrien would be a more interesting character but there’s almost no focus on him.
Chloe could be such a great character and I honestly thought she’d be developed and fleshed out into a complex, relatable teen, but now that the creator’s like “oh she’s just evil” then i don’t know why the heck they spent episodes “developing” her and making her Queen Bee. So many key moments and characteristics, like her abusive mother and idiot father, all down the drain.
Lila was a character added purely to add stupid drama and is basically unnecessary and annoying.
The whole romance is so convoluted and stupidly written. And I don’t see a point in bringing Luka and Kagami into the mix if Adrien and Marinette will obviously get together anyway by Season 10 or something.
At thiis point Marinette should get with Kagami and Adrien with Luka cause they clearly have more chemistry than Adriennete
The akuma thing is so old now and they’ve even recycled villains. They have no creativity anymore. I am SICK of freaking Reflecta (don’t know if i got that right) appearing all the time.
Chat Blanc. Enough said.
Some people say she is a Mary Sue. Yes she has the attributes like perfect family, OP abilities she has two powers not just one. Chat's night vision is never used, her Lucky Charm and Miraculous Ladybug is an episodic ability. She is the only one who can do anything about akumas and amoks. She learnt how to fence out of nowhere, like Kagami and Adrien struggled with it for years she now has this ability too. At kawmi swap she uses the Cat miraculous without any issues and Adrien doesn't know anything. She uses a bunch of kwamis in one go, with knowledge. She becomes the Guardian when she made a huge mistake. Etc. I could go on why is she considered a Mary Sue, but honestly I don't consider her one. Zoey Redbird is the real Mary Sue in my eyes.
She is portrayed as a stalker for giggles. This is where the writers ruined a fine character. Do you watch anime? The stalker girl turns out to be a yandere, makes the protagonist's life hell, kills off his parents, friends, girlfriend, even in some cases the protagonist too. Yanderes have shrines of the protagonist's stuff, break into his house, follow home. Marinette is not that far away to turn into a yandere trope only for laughs.
She admitted herself that she is a stalker. She stole four phones trough the series (Adrien's in Copycat, Chloé's, Alya's and Kagami's phone in Ikari Gozen, but at first she gave her phone to Marinette wilingly), she stole the photographer's harddrive, tricked Chloé a bunch of times out of jealousy and nearly ruined Kagami's chances with Adrien.
She broke into his room as Ladybug, sniffed his pillow. I hate how she acted as an obsessive stalker when she entered.
She followed Adrien and Lila in Onii-chan home, she was ready to climb the wall and even asked a fireman for his ladder.
How she wanted to ask out Adrien in Simpleman. She ditched four kids with his usually tense grandpa to repair Adrien's angel wings. Because she was so shy to ask him out to the movies in this episode and Adrien too rushed back to his photoshoot. To have a chance with him she was ready to just ruin the wings again with a fishing rod. Yeah the Guardian ladies and gentlemen.
It still creeps me out that she knows everything about Adrien but she barely can talk with him. I used to know a bunch of stuff about my ex boyfriend because he was the one who told me or with time I found out a lot about him as we dated, spent time together or I got to know his precious people. Marinette knows everything about Adrien without asking him (Gamer, Befana, Goridzilla and Kung Food where I remember they talking about stuff). She knows his favorite color, fruit, his schedule for the next 5 years (I bet even Adrien doesn't know what his father planned), she knows his life but doesn't know him as himself. Samd thing can be said about Ladynoir but they have to protect their identities and at least Chat tries to know his partner only for her to remind him that they can't know anything.
She made macaroons for him every weekend, she made him gifts for his 30 years of birthdays bunch of little weird stuff.
She kissed his “wax” statue worst episode ever, the moment I started to dislike her.
She is a hypocrite with the rules. Alya and Nino can know, Alya can know her identity, but Chat can't know anything, he can't tell his identity to Nino. Alya, Nino and Luka were revealed yet they can still be holders, no matter that she risks their lives and she could choose new ones. Still Kagami probably won't be Ryuko ever again, Chloé couldn't be Queen B in season 3.
Lukanette. New York special she was moving on from Adrien only for everyone and their mother pushed her into Adrien's arms. She was dating Luka, he was dating Kagami. Still we see in Truth too that even her boyfriend Luka knows that she is obsessed with Adrien yet he is dating her without any jealousy. Poor Luka you deserve better.Give this man a fucking break.
She as the Guardian. I don't like that the we are equals plot is out of the window. Now she “can make/create anything the universe is the limit", so she can make charms, summon miraculouses, save the day as a civilian not let Scarabella or Chat save the day once.
The writers could have done so much with this show and this is why I am so bitter that they waste pretty good characters for no reason. Just think about that Marinette has a good story arc in the first two seasons. She stood up to Chloé, finally acted on her feelings, broke down under the pressure of being the Guardian. Yet they had to throw in the stalker, obsessive nearly yandere trope for fun to ruin her. I wish at least one character would call her out for it and she would learn from it. I wish that in season four she really moved on with Luka so her obsession would end. But no we can't have development.
Still she is a fictional character, I hate how the writers write these characters.

A newly arrived stallion arrives and Thena watches how Gil and that said stallion forming a bond
Something wholesome and cute? For the dressage AU
It was huge. Stallions were fairly large breeds, of course--well muscled and meant to be strong. But even with all that being said, there was no denying the horse was massive. It was all black, with quite a mean expression. Its long mane had yet to be trimmed or groomed because the beast wouldn't let anyone near it, let alone with shears.
Only one had been brave enough to even try.
Thena watched from around Olympia's shoulder. She had only seen the new arrival a few times, now. He had been purchased by the club for what an asset he could be, but first they needed someone willing to tame him. From what she had heard, Ikaris had tried, maybe even Eros - only the most egotistical riders, of course - but to no avail.
"Easy, boy, eyes on me."
Gil had a tight hold on the rope in his leather gloved hand. He let the horse trot in circles around him. The line was taut, the horse maintaining a distance from Gil but at his own pace. Gil walked in circles as he was led by his companion.
"That's right, it's okay," he spoke softly to the monstrous horse, keeping his eyes on it. He was the only one strong enough to compete with the horse's pull on the reins, of course. "No one's here to hurt you, pal. Just try to take it easy."
The horse glared at him, pulling back and trying to get up on his back legs.
"Ah--hey!" Gil tugged again, pulling him forward. "None of that!"
Thena watched, astonished as the stallion seemed to listen. She knew Gil had a way with the creatures, but she had never quite seen it to this degree. Maybe a way with a stubborn or fickle horse, but never taming an actual wild stallion. It was like something out of a romance novel.
Olympia bumped her shoulder.
"Hey!" Thena hissed at her impetuous horse, who flicked her ears at her. Olympia wanted to know more about the new horse as well, obviously. "Stop it!"
"Thena?"
Thena froze, nearly blushing at being caught spying on him (again). She pulled her hands behind her back to disguise her fingers fidgeting with the sleeves of her white buttoned shirt. "I-I see the new recruit is in good hands."
Gil looked at the stallion, who eyed Thena with a new level of wariness. Gil snapped the rope faintly, just enough to remind the horse of the bridle in its mouth. "Be nice."
His tail flicked, but the horse didn't exactly stomp or kick up his feet at her.
"I heard he was unworkable," she murmured, eyeing the creature keeping its distance from them.
Gil also kept his eyes on the young steed, like a coach eyeing a stubborn athlete. "No horse is unworkable, some are just more stubborn than others. But I think we're coming to understand each other."
The stallion attempted to rear up again, voicing his disagreement with that.
"Hey!" Gil barked at him, moving in front of Thena to keep the horse's eyes on him. "Don't make trouble for her!"
The young horse snorted but planted his hooves down again.
Gil wound the rope around his forearm to shorten the leash, walking forward again. "Listen, buddy, I get it, okay? You don't wanna be here?--tough. But it'll be fine if you give it a chance."
Thena watched as, once again, Gil the horse whisperer approached the unsocialised steed and spoke with him on even ground. She could imagine that if they dealt with canines that the unruly new creature would be seating itself before him.
"You think I got into this business because you smell great?" Gil snorted right back at the horse, who turned its face away from the joke about horse smell in general. "I used to just make horseshoes. But I met one horse, just like you, that was way too full of itself."
The horse whinnied again, complaining about its lecture.
"Shut up and listen," Gil sighed, loosening his grip on the rope. "I had to get some horseshoes on this thing, so I spent a whole month winning it over. And do you know what happened?"
The stallion just stared at him.
Thena felt the familiar and uncomfortably moist breath of a horse leaning over her shoulder. She nudged her nose away from her ear, "sh, just listen."
"I finally got the horse shoes on," Gil put his hands on his hips (the rope almost totally slack in his hand). "And he took a dump on me as soon as I did."
The stallion didn't even attempt to hide how much it enjoyed hearing that.
"Olympia," Thena whispered again, nudging her horse, who was also chortling behind her shoulder.
"But his hooves were in good condition for the rest of the season," Gil finished with a huff. He crossed his arms, "because he didn't have to like me, but we did have to work together."
The stallion turned its head somewhat, not wanting to concede.
"So," Gil held his hands up, dropping the rope tethering the horse to him, "I'm gonna let you think about what you want to do."
"Gil?" Thena frowned, watching the rope fall between him and the horse. She moved closer to Olympia subconsciously, and Gil took a few steps back from the horse and closer to her.
Gil stayed still in front of her, watching as the hose kicked and bucked and neighed at the top of his lungs. "He just has to get it out of his system."
Thena wasn't sure if there would be an end in sight to that. But Gil knew what he was doing, maybe more than any equestrian club member in the building. Although she had to admit that the sheer size and display put her on edge.
Gil didn't say anything - very kindly - about her clutching at his sleeve.
The stallion glared at him, panting from its display of protest. It stalked over to him slowly.
"Gil," Thena repeated, tugging at him more. The horse truly was huge, standing much, much taller than Olympia. She moved somewhat more behind him, "Gil!"
"It's okay," he said calmly, whether to her or the horse staring them down. He raised his hands openly, "you ready to give this another try?"
Thena held her breath, nearly hiding her eyes as Gil reached out to the stallion's nose. But she let it go as he actually let Gil pet him. It was slight, and after just a few pats he was sick of it, turning away and flicking his tail again. But Gil had done it, in a sense.
"It's okay," he chuckled, watching his stubborn new stablemate stomp around petulantly. "I think he's done with his temper tantrum, at least for now."
"Hm," Thena mused, unable to match his level of surety. But she did her best to pretend she hadn't been clinging to him. "I'm sure the riders will be eager to think that they can have a go at him, now."
"Well, I think he'll be reluctant to let anyone that close to him yet," Gil ruffled his hair, letting out a tense breath. He turned back to her properly, "sorry you had to get caught up in that."
She tilted her head at him, "was it true?--about you and taming that horse?"
"It is true," he rolled his eyes, "not that it's a nice story or anything. But that is how I started caring for horses and not just making horse shoes. So I guess I know how to deal with colts like him."
The stallion bellowed at him from across the pen, just to complain about being called a young colt.
"Save it, buddy," Gil chuckled back at the horse.
"You make an interesting pair, that is certain," Thena smiled, gravitating back to the side of her own lovely mare. "Should I look forward to watching you mount in the future?"
"Hm?" Gil blinked at her. "Oh, I'm no rider, I'll leave that to you guys."
Gil laughed it off, but Thena watched as he smacked the outside of his thigh, clad in blue jeans to emphasize that he wasn't a rider. But she wasn't sure about that, because he was definitely strong enough to ride if he wanted to.
Not that she had noticed such things.
"Come on," Thena murmured to Olympia as Gil went back to the steed, the boys bonding over whatever males bonded over. She tickled the nose of her prim white horse, "let's leave the men to their work."

Arc-V Month Day 8: The Regular- ah, Standard Show and Day 9:Light Across the Aether
Combining two prompts, as I'll be gushing about (among other parts) about the Standard arc. Hope that's fine, @arcvmonth
Anyway, Arc-V has a lot of positives (that tend to get washed by the hatejerk), but what I want all of us to appreciate is that this silly show...exists. Not only that, but the awesome way the staff managed to hype all of us up?
What do I mean by this? Let me put it this way. This is a show about a multidimensional war where each dimension is based on a previous Yugioh series, featuring Returning Characters, and every Summoning Type is used.
Now go back to the original trailer for Arc-V. Notice how there're some things missing. Namely? ALL OF THE ABOVE. We knew about Pendulum Summoning, we knew Yuya rode a hippo...and that's about it.
Marketing-wise maybe this wasn't the brightest move, but it's an example of something I love about early Arc-V. In the year of our lord, 2023, where crossovers are everywhere and meta-commentary is so overdone people do meta-commentary about meta-commentary, it's bewildering how Arc-V kept its cards close to its chest and drip-fed information about its plot to keep the audience interested.
All of Season 1 is like this. At first we only really see Pendulum Summoning. But as early as Episode 3, we get hints about the other Summoning Types, since LDS has courses on each one. But whatever, you may think. It's only an Easter Egg, right?
Then this little fella shows up.
Tumblr media
Casually, this kid activates Polymerization like it's nothing. And it's not like Jack randomly Fusing in early 5D's, Sora's deck is clearly Fusion-focused. But if that's not enough, we then meet the LDS trio, who use Xyz, Fusion, and Synchro. AND THEN Reiji tops them all by using all three at once. And Pendulum.
It's easy to take it for granted now, but this was legit just such a "holy shit" moment back then. 5D's featured Fusion a few times, but it was mostly a Synchro Spam. And Zexal pretended Synchros didn't exist. So it was so exciting to know Arc-V would be different.
That would be cool enough, but then they went ahead and made it so that each Summoning Type was tied to a specific Dimension. And again, the war plot was dropped slowly but surely. We get introduced to Yuto, who not only looks like Yuya, but he mentions something about some "Academia". But hey, a GX reference, whatever. And then it keeps going. We learn about Shun, about Ruri. And it all culminates in Shun vs Sora, which... ok, everyone knows this duel is amazing, but it's not just about the duel itself being spectacular. It's about the confirmation that, yes, we really are doing this. That Action Field IS Heartland, Shun and Yuto are from there, and the Academia Sora belongs to is based on GX.
The most ambitious crossover in history is here. And all they told us at first is that Tomato-boy rides a hippo. What the fuck.
Speaking of hippo-ridah. Arc-V always gets the somewhat-backhanded compliment of being the most ambitious Yugioh series, a statement I agree with. However, this is generally just refers to the overall scope of the plot. Today, one aspect that can sometimes get neglected that I want to highlight is how daring their choice of protagonist is.
Tumblr media
Yuya, my beloved. I don't wanna spend too much time about how much I love him, because I'm sure I'll do so in the future, but I want everyone to appreciate the writers' choice in creating him.
I'm gonna be blunt: Shonen fans can be dumb. They are not the kind to be receptive to protagonists who're not hyper-macho, badass types and who are prone to show weakness. Just look at the response characters like Shinji Ikari or Natsuki Subaru get. Now, I'm not saying Yuya is as well-written as those, but it shows that even if the writers had written him perfectly there was always going to be a crowd of people who were going to hate him.
So I gotta give a shout-out for creating what's easily the most complex Yugioh protag by a long shot. Other protags could be slotted into one of two categories: "Serious" (Yugi, Yusei), or "Upbeat" (Judai, Yuma). Meanwhile, from Episode 1, Yuya defies categorization. He plays the clown, making one think he'll fit right in with Judai and Yuma, before the show makes it clear that it's just a facade... but also it's not. He truly strives to be the fun-loving, charming Entertainer he projects, but his own struggles and feelings prevent him from succeeding. It's a fascinating struggle, and I'm impressed that a franchise like Yu-gi-oh would even attempt this. And then you throw in the demon inside of him, and the waters get even muddier.
Speaking of which...
Something Cool about the Zarc Duel
(Yeah, that's as good of a segue as you're getting. I just wanna talk about something cool I noticed.)
So. The Zarc-duel. It's a mixed bag. I'm of the opinion most of it is meh (not helped by it taking over a month to air), but that the first and final episodes of it are amazing. And I wanna talk about something cool about said last episode that doesn't get talked about enough.
So, as we know, Zarc, alongside Yuya, created Pendulum to get revenge. And yet he gets defeated the exact-same way, by Ray activating the En Cards...or does he? If you pay attention, you'll notice that the En Cards destroy monsters, negate their effects, and deal 600 damage for each Monster sent to the graveyard (very particular wording these uber-powerful cards). Zarc has 2800 LP, and five monsters affected. 600x5 means his Life Points naturally drop to... 1000?
Of course, that's because Odd Eyes and Zarc are Pendulum monsters, so they're sent to the Extra Deck. If they weren't, he'd have lost right there and then. And not only did Zarc's scheme prevent his defeat, it basically got him the duel: he still had Scales set, and Reira's field was empty, so nothing stops him from Pendulum Summoning Zarc and/or Odd Eyes, and attack for game. Thankfully, the Lancers' efforts managed to reach Yuya, and he regained control and basically Shining Drew Smile Universe. In a hint of irony, they even play Swing, Pendulum of Souls, a song usually reserved for Zarc possessing Yuya.
Speaking of which, Smile Universe's effect is really similar to that of the En Cards. I guess it's the Unofficial 5th one and Smiles are the 5th beauty of Nature.
On that note, one last thing.
The Title: Arc-V
Arc-V is a very peculiar name for a show. And what I love is that it has many meanings. Most straight-forwardly, it's the name of the machine Leo builds to fuse the Dimensions. And obviously, it refers to it being the fifth Yugioh series. But it also refers to both the arc of a Pendulum, as well as the shape of a smile (there's an ED literally called "ARC OF SMILE", in case you think I'm reading too deep into things). I love how well-crafted this show's symbolism and visual language is.
Anyway, this turned into a massive ramble. I'm just happy to talk about this silly show that's burned itself into my mind. Thanks for reading if you somehow made it this far.

You weren't positive he was looking your way. Not at first. Ikaris was not only hard to read but hard to like, an acquired taste not many were interested in.
The scowl rarely left his face as of late, and when it did, his semblance could barely be described as neutral. You couldn't remember a time you saw him smile, much less heard him laugh.
Your friendship was new, in a stage it could still crumble if you made a false move. You, only you, and if he did, you wouldn't see it as such. He intrigued you a little too much to give up the opportunity to unravel the mystery behind his deep eyes.
And he was stupidly attractive, only somebody too proud for their own good would deny it.
Your eyes met across the room. He nodded and lifted his glass. He was in a good mood. Mimicking the gesture, you smiled at him.
Ikaris pushed himself off the wall he was resting his shoulder on and made his way toward you. Around you, people gawked at him, probably wondering why he was once again ignoring Kingo's riveting conversation for your patient smile.
"Which story is it this time?"
Ikaris shrugged. "Wasn't paying attention."
You didn't believe him, but you didn't say as such. He didn't want to talk about Kingo, and that was fine, you didn't either as much as you loved your old friend.
As your attempts at conversation continued failing, you realized Ikaris didn't want to talk about anything. Not in the lounge, not in the backyard, and definitely not under the yellow light of lampposts whilst enveloped by autumn air.
You walked beside each other in silence. You recognized the path he had taken you both onto and it could only lead to your shared building or to the bar you got kicked out from a week ago — you couldn't remember if you told him about it, but as he swerved left, you confirmed his destination was the old building.
Once before your door, words got caught in your throat, lips parted as his eyes lingered on the bottom part of your face. You licked your lips. unsure as to what was going on; it excited you nonetheless, having his undivided attention, perhaps even enticing him.
You searched for his eyes, looking for a sign that you weren't imagining things or assuming his intentions, a confirmation that the tension between you wasn't a figment of your imagination.
He grabbed you by the back of your head, and after a moment of hesitation that ended once you placed your hand on his bicep, he slammed his lips against yours.
Suddenly, there was no pretense he hadn't planned things to go this way tonight. Not when he kissed you, not when he refused to let go of you as you struggled to open the door, and certainly not in his hungry eyes as you peeled off your jacket.
He threw his own onto the couch and once again reached over, strong hands grasping your plump waist as he drew you in for another kiss. It was different than the one before, languid, teasing, hot.
A part of you expected him to be rougher as his hands eventually wandered, but for a moment, the only thing Ikaris did was take his time to become familiar with your figure.
"You had to wear the same dress you were wearing when we met, huh," he said, accent thick with amusement — almost teasing, as if you had done it on purpose. His fingers trailed along the seam of your dress, tracing your outer thigh.
"I didn't think you'd remember."
His eyes bore into yours. "Well, I do."
The implications of his words weren't lost on you, nor the heat tugging at you from within. Lusting over him was dangerous, you had been warned about his poor social skills and emotional stuntedness. His hands on you made it difficult to care, though.
Pressing his body to yours, he moved a hand to your lower back and looked down at you. His breathing was steady, but his dilated pupils told a different story. You couldn't find out if he was as rough as you imagined as thorough as somebody as pretty should be —if only to leave people wanting for more— and as he leaned in to kiss you again, you hoped you would find out soon.
Ikaris kissed you as though he was trying to devour you, to rip the delicate threads of friendship you had carefully sewn. And you let him, for a few seconds pretended this had been your plan all along too and let him, and as his kiss became more demanding, you let go of any hesitance left in your system.
You felt his hand come up to your neck, leaving your thigh to softly grasp your throat. He caressed your skin as he parted from your lips, panting against your mouth. "You want this, right?"
You breathlessly confirmed, "Yes."
He pushed you backward, crushing you against the wall. His breath fanned all over your face, intense gaze fixed on your wanton one.
A wave of arousal crashed onto you as he dragged his hands down your sides, touch heavy and warm. Need started to brew in the pit of your stomach once he slipped his hands past the hem of your dress.
Mouth heavy on yours, he demanded entrance with his tongue. Your heart leaped in your chest as his fingers grazed your pussy from on top of your panties, never relenting in his passionate kiss,
He pressed his forehead to yours whilst he recovered his breath and you could only gaze into his eyes as he pulled your panties to the side.
"Wait," you stopped him before he would start touching you. "My feet are killing me."
He momentarily pulled away so you would take your high heels off, hands moving to quickly discard his pants as he kicked his shoes off too.
He was taller now, and by the glint of his eyes, he liked it.
The outline of his cock was finally visible to you and next thing you knew, he was once again pressed against you. His hot kiss matched the warmth of his palms and his strong thigh pried your legs open — you felt his constrained cock near your hip.
His hot breath tickled your ear as he asked, "Do you need me to do anything for you?"
Leave it to him to ask if you were wet in the worst way possible. "You were about to find out," you reminded him.
His attention shifted downward to where your thighs met his. Hooking his thumbs into your panties, he pulled them down. He was rougher than he should have as he pressed two fingers to your clit, making you gasp, and dragging them down to trace your slit.
And you moaned instead of complaining; he was finally being as rough as you had imagined he'd be. Forcing your legs further apart with his forearm, Ikaris teased your entrance with his slicked fingers.
"I suppose you don't," he half-heartedly mocked you, accent thicker.
Still, he didn't remove his hand from you. Slowly, he pushed a finger in, and met with no resistance, he added the second one. You sighed, resting your head against the wall behind you as Ikaris lazily moved his fingers in and out, not yet interested in making you come.
The slow rhythm of his fingers was pure torture and your whines weren't enough to convince him to pick up the pace. So you demanded, "Faster."
He stopped altogether, making you groan in disapproval. "What did you say?"
"Ikaris."
He hummed, eyes gleaming with mischief. He looked so pretty.
"Please?" you tried.
"So polite."
You didn't have a chance to come up with a retort, he resumed fingering you, and this time he didn't hold back. He took your breath away, making you gasp and search for something to do with your hands.
Your head was fuzzy, almost floating as he leaned in to tell you, "You look so good like this."
Either his words or his fingers were magic, perhaps both. Your muscles trembled as pleasure ran through you and muffling the cry that left you would have been a disservice to your own pleasure.
Your limbs loosened as you tried to clear your head, breath ragged as Ikaris held you in place with both hands. You felt the stickiness from the fingers that had just been inside you and found yourself sighing dreamily.
Scared he would start teasing, you grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him into a kiss. Ikaris indulged you for a moment before breaking the kiss and removing his shirt.
His skin was warm and soft as you trailed your hands along his torso. Of course his body was gorgeous, but there was something about the dip of his collarbones and the ridge of his muscles that made him look almost approachable. In this state, he was no different from any other person you had hooked up with; not on the surface.
You couldn't help but explore his bare chest as he smothered you in another searing kiss, holding you tight as he gripped your jaw. He tasted so, so good, and although you didn't want to presume that the idea of doing this with you had dictated his drinking choices, you were unable to stop yourself from wondering why you could taste your favorite sweet cocktail on his tongue and why the taste had lingered for so long now.
He kept you locked in place like a precious secret, adamant about keeping your lips together. You pressed your hips to his, needing more contact.
"I want you so bad," he said, breathless, lips brushing yours.
You ground against him, fingers tracing his shoulders. "Take me, then."
Ikaris tugged his underwear down, freeing his hard cock. Before he could do it, you wrapped your hand around it. A groan left his lips and you looked up to find his pupils blown wide.
In a swift movement, he had your back affixed to the white wall behind you, hands shoving your dress up to your belly.
He hitched up your thighs with his hands, encouraging you to wrap your legs around his frame. Ikaris bucked up against you, cock teasing your folds before finding your entrance. His gaze was piercing as he waited for permission. You nodded, immediately feeling him push his cock in.
You held tightly to his shoulders yet he didn't decide to move immediately. When he did, his thrusts were slow, drawn out.
He built up his pace and the only thing you could do was take it, enjoy yourself as he did all the work. You would be sore later, perhaps the day after too, but as he pounded into you, eliciting moans and yelps, you found that you didn't care.
You were thankful the wall behind you was sturdy, that you had been smart enough to choose an old building to reside in, and mostly, that you had met Ikaris in the lobby when you moved.
You threw your head back, pressing it against the wall behind you as his thrusts became stronger, turned quicker, and Ikaris took the chance to lick a stripe up your neck, feeling the shaky vibrations of your moans against his tongue.
His pelvis pressed into yours, holding you in place as he rolled his hips, thoroughly fucking you as his fingers dug into your thighs. "I knew you'd feel good," he sighed against the skin of your neck, teeth scrapping near your jaw as he groaned.
You could barely speak, only humming and sputtering his name. It fed his ego, his drive to fuck you into the wall.
"Such a good fucking girl," he praised.
You clawed at his shoulders accepting his greedy lips between whimpers, head reeling as pressure built up within you. Ikaris let out a deep growl against your mouth. "Come for me," he demanded.
Fuck, it was like he knew your body better than you did.
Your nails pierced his skin as you came undone all over his cock. Ikaris bucked his hips into you, hiding his face in your neck to muffle deep guttural moans into your skin.
Abruptly, he pulled out, and before you could react, hot cum spilled onto your jelly-like thighs. Ikaris had half a mind to hold you upward, finally letting you hear the moans he had been adamant to hide as he fisted his cock, sputtering more drops of cum onto your skin.
"I'll clean you up."
"I can do it," you assured him, breath ragged. Neither of you moved for a while, catching your breaths. Shifting on your bare feet, you said, "Come, I'll lend you a towel."
Your legs wobbled as you took a step. Ikaris placed a hand on your lower back and you didn't dare turn around to see his reaction.
He was having none of it and irrupted into your personal space so you would see his pleased smile. You didn't hate it.

Shinji Ikari & Lucifer
Tumblr media
You, Shinji Ikari, are connected to Lucifer Your partner doesn't mind all ages or 18+ roleplay Your partner has a starter. Type /starter or tap here to see it.
Shinji Ikari: /starter
Lucifer: Androgynous looking with a slender figure and medium length wavy golden hair. Very dark iris, making his eyes look like black pearls. Pretty like you have never seen before, breathtaking even. Also quite childish. Might come off as a sad pathetic man to gain pity points but will drop the act the moment he gets bored. Or won't. https://ibb.co/Msh75MR (By _Yuming_Li on twitter) ((Inspired by John Milton's works))
Lucifer: Get in the existential crisis Shinji.
Shinji Ikari: ...Excuse me?
Lucifer: Just kidding kid
Shinji Ikari: Oh...okay.
Lucifer: Anyways have you seen my gay son?
Shinji Ikari: Your...gay son. Do you know what he looks like?
Lucifer: White hair, red eyes.
Shinji Ikari: ...Kaworu?!
Lucifer: Ah yes. That one.
Shinji Ikari: He's my boyfriend!
Lucifer: So I was right about him being gay.
Lucifer: And having horrible taste. No offense kid
Shinji Ikari: I won't argue with you on that but it's weird that you used that as a descriptor. How was I supposed to know who he was going off on that? And you only can identify him by him being gay? Kaworu has a bunch of other qualities, you know!
Lucifer: Pfft, you humans are interesting.
Lucifer: Of course he has other qualities. I am aware of that. He is my son.
Lucifer: He is too good for his own good for example, is enamoured by humans to the point of self harm.
Shinji Ikari: Well...then why don't you help him? You're his dad.
Lucifer: I don't want to hinder his process.
Shinji Ikari: What process? He just helps out at NERV.
Lucifer: Process of growing up.
Lucifer: Also, fine. I will bite it. I am a deadbeat dad.
Shinji Ikari: *sighs* So you're just like my dad.
Lucifer: What- what does that mean?
Shinji Ikari: You say you know him just because you know what he's like...but you don't care about how he feels. He's so lonely by himself, like he doesn't have any family...you know that right?
Lucifer: ... I know.
Lucifer: But I just can't come on earth to visit him.
Shinji Ikari: Why not? Are you some type of Angel too?
Lucifer: The devil. To be specific.
Shinji Ikari: ...So, you're Lucifer? You two do look alike.
Lucifer: Aw that's because we are family.
Lucifer: I could bring on yet another impact if I wished to but I am deciding against it dear.
Shinji Ikari: Um...yeah, we would both prefer if you didn't do that.
Lucifer: I am not. Seems like too much work.
Lucifer: I would have to see the mangled corpse of my ex.
Shinji Ikari: Lilith...is your ex.
Lucifer: Yeah.
Shinji Ikari: That...must be incredibly awkward.
Lucifer: It really is!
Lucifer: And do you know what is worse?
Lucifer: Adam is too.
Shinji Ikari: So basically...we're all running around in copies of your firstborn son?
Lucifer: Really awkward.
Shinji Ikari: This is so weird...I should get going. Probably tell Kaworu I saw his dad.
Lucifer: I don't think he would be happy.
Shinji Ikari: I mean, he deserves to know...we need to communicate with each other.
Lucifer: Do you want to see him sulking?
Shinji Ikari: ...No. Even though he sees me sulking all the time.
Lucifer: I feel bad for my son now.
Shinji Ikari: Yeah, kind of what I was getting at...
Lucifer: Damn boy pick yourself up.
Lucifer: I don't want a depressed brat near my son.
Shinji Ikari: I'll try my best...won't run away or whatever.
Lucifer: Aw thanksies dear.
Lucifer: So can you tell me why the alarms are blaring in this little city of yours?
Shinji Ikari: Ah. An Angel attack...I gotta get back. I think Kaworu is in Asuka's EVA today.
Lucifer: Oh! Oh-
Lucifer: That might be my fault.
Lucifer: Could you tell them the angel of today isn't planning to attack?m
Shinji Ikari: I mean, I can but I doubt anyone will listen to me. And then they'll want to know where I got the information from...
Lucifer: From the angel. Of course
Lucifer: I don't mind being detained.
Shinji Ikari: So you'll come along then?
Lucifer: Mhm.
Shinji Ikari: Good! I mean...less people will die then. *walks off*
Lucifer: follows after No one will die. I come in peace.
Shinji Ikari: *leads him to NERV headquarters; Misato, Rei III and Kaworu are gathered with Gendo overlooking* (Gendo): You're late, Shinji. Do the lives of the citizens of Tokyo mean so little to you that you can---who is that?
Lucifer: does his damn best to look away from Kaworu. Lucifer.
Shinji Ikari: (Kaworu): ...Father, why are you here? *to Shinji* Why is he here? (Shinji): It's a long story...
Lucifer: What? Is it a crime to see my son? Aww look at how grown up you became.
Shinji Ikari: (Kaworu): *crosses his arms* Not as big as your other children, apparently... (Misato): S-so...you're an Angel.
Lucifer: Well, they are humongous. One of your brothers can't even fit on earth. So...
Shinji Ikari: (Misato): Wait, if you fathered the Angels, can't you stop the one outside?
Lucifer: No.
Lucifer: They are grown enough to make their own decisions.
Shinji Ikari: Wait, you said if I brought you here, you'd--- (Kaworu): He lies, Shinji...he's the father of all of them.
Lucifer: Aw Kaworu. You sound hurt. When did I ever lie to you?
Shinji Ikari: (Kaworu): You said that people here liked Shinji. (Misato): I like Shinji. (Kaworu): I'm still trying to gauge whether that's a positive or not.
Lucifer: See? One of em does.
Lucifer: And you do too, I guess.
Shinji Ikari: (Kaworu): I'm not even human. You're always trying to worm out of things.
Lucifer: And you are just like me.
Shinji Ikari: (Kaworu): I actually see things through and clean up my messes.
Lucifer: It took you several loops to arrive there.
Lucifer: Ah, his first life. He was just like me guys.
Lucifer: Putting the cat out of its misery? Giving it salvation?
Lucifer: I did that too once.
Shinji Ikari: (Rei III): ...Loops? (Kaworu): And in another one, Shinji and I were in a detective agency. The point is, I ride things out and you run off to angst. Shinji is three times the man you are.
Lucifer: Excuse me???
Lucifer: That- that thing is?
Shinji Ikari: (Kaworu): A man who can see things through. You: A sorry excuse for a father who lets his children wreck havoc on the planet instead of reining them in. You should be ashamed to show your face here.
Lucifer: Fine. Whatever. I will tell your brother to drop it.
Shinji Ikari: (Kaworu): Thank you...Shinji, for dragging my dad here so he can fix his mess. For once. (Shinji): Um...thank you, sir! *bows to Lucifer*
Lucifer: Look at that brat thanking his boyfriend instead of me.
Lucifer: Aw don't mention it Shinji.
Shinji Ikari: (Misato): I just watched all of that...so where's Asuka again? (Rei III): She told me to lie to you and say she's sick but she's on a date with Mari.
Lucifer: Woah she is horrible at lying.
Shinji Ikari: (Rei III): I never learned how...or learned how to care.
Lucifer: Typical Lilim.
Shinji Ikari: (Thanks!)

With how things actually ended I think I am seriously thinking Steven not forgiven Rose at all feels like a subversion to the trope where the protagonist forgive their parent for their misdeeds and I think that has been quite been done a lot and Steven only acknowledging the bad of rose not forgiving her is a refresher or something even if it kind of rubs some people the wrong way because it's unfair or it feels kind of weird after seeing different characters from other Media be forgiven or a kind of a slap on the wrist for worse things they did to everyone that's makes Rose kind of look like a saint.
But then again it goes back to her being dead and the other characters in question are alive or the way their backstories and what they went through are told view them in a sympathetic light. The only other character who I can think were the protagonist ends up hating their parent is Eren Yeager with his dad Grisha Yaeger from attack on Titan with Eren not saying anything nice about his father when talking to Zeke in the memories and making him kill the Royal family but I think that's probably extremely complicated right there because of the fact Grisha didn't want to kill the younger royal family members as well living behind the Walls changed him and Eren hated his father showing Mercy to the people who don't give a damn about their people who been demonize so heavily to the point where the entire world thinks that they are devils on Earth because of what their ancestors did. Basically the sins of the ancestors (which is kind of like what happened with Rose and her decisions affecting everyone? I don't know about this comparison but I guess it's interesting) and it's kill or be killed.
The idea that Steven not completely "forgiving" his mom and still having some negative feelings regarding her at the end of the story actually being a subversion and not just lazy or bad writing isn't one I've seen a lot, but it does make a lot of sense. It strikes me as something the showrunners might've done to make the story seem more grounded and realistic, since not everyone is just gonna be completely fine with everything a dead parent left them with, especially if it's someone who's been through as much as Steven has
And it's funny you mention Attack on Titan here since I've actually talked about Eren and his father while comparing them to Rose's story once before. The biggest difference for this discussion is that the story never really involves Eren "forgiving" his father at all. He doesn't particularly blame Grisha for everything that has happened to him in his life, it's more that he just thinks that the state of the entire world is fundamentally wrong and can't be saved, so the only choice he sees is to kill everyone else. The scene of Eren telling his father to kill the royal family isn't out of hatred for his father or a desire to traumatize him; the royal family has to be killed in order for events to happen the way Eren has forseen them (using Attack Titan's power to see the future). It's left ambiguous whether the future events can be changed or are predestined to happen but that's not really the point
The situation with Rose and Steven is somewhat different than that of a lot of other well-known dead/absent fathers in anime. A lot of times its either you start off thinking they're bad but they turn out to actually be pretty sympathetic (Grisha from Attack on Titan, van Hoenheim from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) or even worse than you thought (Gendo Ikari from Evangelion, Charles zi Britannia from Code Geass). Meanwhile, Rose is originally introduced as loving and flawless, but soon we (and Steven) see that she's not as perfect as we thought and did some questionable things in the past. But the difference is Rose isn't around anymore to right any of those wrongs, and Steven and the other characters are the ones who have to deal with what she left behind (Steven says exactly this to the fake Rose in the episode "Storm in the Room"). And since Rose can't do anything to solve the problems of the present, (and wasn't given more screentime in flashbacks to explore her morals) people (wrongly!) assume that the show is saying that she was totally in the wrong (which it isn't)

Evangelion 3.0 You can (not) redo be like... (my unfiltered reaction to the movie)
I am only cca 10 min in and I am already crying
WTF HAPPENED TO EVERYONE (but Kaworu bless his soul) I DONT LIKE THIS "GLOW UP"
This is some post post Apocalypse shit and NOBODY gives a shit for a boy who kind of scaed ur asses before and slept for like a long time and is confused af. Liek literally nobody like pm they are under an attack bit it looks like everybody blames Shinji for previous event (at least new guys) like ok without Kaworu everyone would be dead but who was supposed to know Adam and Lilith would fuse like this???
"Don't do anything" BRO MISATO-SAN???? AS INFJ (who's kind of similar to INFP's Shinji) that cold stare and words hurt me deeply
I can't believe I am saying this but I kind of liked anime series abs The end of EVA better than this
They even call my boy by some number as if he was some object. Excuse me he's treated as a criminal even though he technically didn't want to be and wanted to save everyone I AM SO MAD
Fine so we are getting our info...
Ya as I thought... 14 years passed... hahahha ofc they'd be a little mad but this is overdoing it... basically he'd die if he got too emotional lol (I wanna die and we didn't even get to Kaworu at this point he HAS to give my boi happiness)
Most depressing NGE arc... is 3.0
REI REI REI
KAWORU ON PIANO
And ofc Gendou is as same as ever lmao (this impact conversed him back to how he was in anime series Ig)
I wonder if NERV is still going to do Human instrumentality project Ig its kind of gives off these vibes (later I was right this didn't change ge anything for Gendou just made him even colder like he was written before)
OK so this Rei is different altogether from all pheromones versions. She's truly like a robot only following Gendou's orders
I feel so bad for Shinji.... rn he only has Kaworu who's obesssed with him obv but tbh at his position I'd take any friends I could get
My so long awaited gay moments I was waiting for are finally here - and the reason why I am still watching (ok that's a lie rn I do want to know how it ends)
"I was born to meet you= I love you" is making me swoon all over again
Well fuck Ig that answers what happened to everyone (the fact that freaking angel.had to show it to Mc is even more depressing)
Sometimes doing the right thing can cause massive destruction- a novel written by 3.0's Ikari Shinji
There is always hope - Big apause to the best character in this show I don't care what you think this is what we needed to hear
Fyutsuki trying to do right thing by talking to Shinji while giving us his lore lol (he should have done that sooner) but this will break him
OK so now that Shinji knows he didn't save this Rei he can't find excuse for tragedy he indirectly caused(and for which he shouldn't be blamed for remember SEELE is abs amwsyeb be the main villain of NGE. But I do understand bitterness of others)... so he's slowly losing his mind
HES TAKING HIS COLLAR ?it's scene I saw before when I spo8led myself) afabatvayzvahFga I can't be ever normal about Kawoshin
They're piloting together hahaha (Ig soon we'll see THE tragedy)
Bruh this looks bad (and yk it's bad when Kaworu is nervous)
Gadouh planned all this obv and now we're fucked (again) - but it's OK he'll be killed either way
Btw this is on side note: but I find Makinami kind of annoying in this movie - she's basically being little brat and too relaxed unlike Asuka who's in his war mode 24/7 and it irks me in bad way with that said
How did Kaworu not see this happening is beyond me
We're fighting new Adam Ig (I can't wait to watch theory on this so I'd understand all this better I feel like you're constantly confused how these angel awakening work)
Is there even anyone left to kill aside from WILLIE and what's left of NERV?? This is the second craziest shit I have seen after The end of NGE because ofc nobody can top that
Lololol
RIP Kaworu - we seen it coming but his last words>>>> dw your resting place will be entirety of the old world (this quote from Genshin is fitting for him rn)
Fourth impact averted at great cost fuck this was amazing
THAT ENDING SOMG ;-;-;-;;-;-;-;-;-; AGRESSIVELY ADDED TO MY SPOTIFY LIST
And so...
Bravo Anno you created a masterpiece that you always wanted. Now I can rest in peace before I watch Thrice upon time

Major MAJOR Spoilers for Eternals
Okay more Eternals thoughts in a bit, but here’s my argument for why Ikaris should be in Eternals 2 despite having literally thrown himself into the sun
First of all, before I get to the WHY, let’s cover the HOW. I see this as pretty easy. There are other ways it could happen because... it’s a superhero movie and one of the more out there ones at that. Death is whatever we want it to be. But I would say have Arishem bring him back. He could do this either because he wants to preserve his most loyal soldier, or because he wants to judge Ikaris for his defection right at the end, and isn’t gonna let him off the hook so easy by just killing himself. And he could do it by either: A) tractor beaming Ikaris out of danger at the last minute. We didn’t SEE Ikaris get incinerated (not saying that’s proof that he didn’t, because obviously Marvel isn’t gonna show that, but just that there is a narrow window of opportunity there)  B) Just like. Magically bringing him back. Can Celestials do this? No clue. Why not?  C) Making essentially a NEW Ikaris (since all the Eternals are basically synthetic anyway) but giving him Ikaris’ memories. They made a very explicit point about those memories of past planets being stored somewhere and it didn’t have much relevance in this movie, so it seems like a set up to be important down the line. This version might preclude Ikaris having his memories from Earth, but wouldn’t necessarily-- there’s enough vagueness surrounding how the memories are there in the first place that they could do what they wanted with it. But you could also do a version where Ikaris is pulling on past versions of himself and doesn’t actually have the memories that we saw in this first movie. And then maybe give him his other memories back somehow partway through the movie.
Now. WHY should they bring him back?
1. Because I like Richard Madden and his accent and he’s very handsome. I won’t deny that that’s part of it. If they’re gonna make me sit through Harry Styles and whatever accent he’s attempting, they gotta pay me back in Richard Madden.
2. I love the idea of this couple that has just been together for millennia and adore each other. Especially if you added in an idea that on every mission on the different planets, they’d fallen for each other? Like this soulmates over thousands and thousands of years thing? Excellent. BUT then with this sequel you could add in a lovers to enemies to lovers thing. And THAT sounds so fun. Please. I crave the epic romance.  (Note: Druig and Makkari are very cute and I’m very excited about them having a romance in the sequel-- and Marvel better give it to me-- but they are a different KIND of romance, and I would love to have both Druig/Makkari and Ikaris/Sersi)
3. Ikaris coming back would force Sersi to actually make decisions about her feelings for him. In this movie she didn’t really have to because she was basically in crisis mode the entire time dealing with the plot stuff. So even before Ikaris’s betrayal was made known, she didn’t have to decide if she would take him back or if she even wanted to  or any of that (they had the moment in the desert right before the reveal where it seemed like she was leaning that way, but we don’t really know) and she certainly didn’t get a chance to deal with the fact that the man she loved murdered a member of their family, or the fact that he ultimately stopped because of her. Let Sersi wrestle through all of that. This could maybe happen with him dead, but it seems like it would be pushed aside and just never get real closure.
4. Ikaris would have deal with what he’s done (this is one reason I lean away from any method of bringing him back that takes away his memories for more than a short time). I think that the only way that Ikaris was able to mentally handle what he was doing was by holding on to the idea that after the Emergence, Arishem would wipe his memory, and he wouldn’t have to live with it. He wouldn’t remember killing Ajak or hurting the team or any of that. Which is why when the Emergence didn’t happen and therefore his memory didn’t get reset, he immediately couldn’t live with it and Javerted himself into the sun.  Bringing him back would be interesting because he’d have to deal with the paradigm shift he experienced at the end of the movie. He’s in a place where he betrayed everyone he loves, but he also didn’t follow through and stick with his ideals. He wasn’t Arishem’s perfect soldier the way he’d always been but he also wasn’t the family member the team needed. So in bringing him back, he’d have to work through that, figure out what he actually believes in, confront why he did what he did, and work toward redemption. which is more interesting than just killing him.
5. It also is more interesting to force the rest of the team to figure out how to deal with Ikaris. And as they’re once again fairly united, it would give a source of conflict to their family dynamic, if as Ikaris is seeking redemption, some are more willing to forgive and forget than others. Kingo was more sympathetic to Ikaris’s beliefs whereas Druig and Ikaris were at odds for a long long time and Ikaris actually tried to kill Druig. The core of Eternals is their family dynamic, and dealing with this traitor and how they’re going to relate to him from now on is more interesting than killing him off.
6. It opens up the opportunity for a more dynamic version of Ikaris. Ikaris comes off very stiff and closed off for most of the movie. But we see glimpses of his much more emotional side. Ikaris is singularly focused on being the perfect soldier, perfect weapon for Arishem. So he keeps his feelings locked down tight. Even his feelings for Sersi, which Ajak has to give him explicit permission to pursue. But in scenes like where he reacts to having killed Ajak or when he’s letting himself be upset with Druig, or especially his final goodbye to Sersi, we see the emotion that he keeps bottled up. So if he was back in Eternals 2 as a more broken version of himself, one much more erratic because he can no longer hide in that shell of being the perfect soldier, we’d get to see all that emotion.
7. I think his fight scenes are cool. He’s like Superman or Cyclops if they actually had interesting action scenes.
8. He’d add an interesting additional layer to what the ending seemed to set up as the main plot for Eternals 2. It seems like we’ve got the three captured ones working to either sway Arishem or escape (Sersi, Kingo and Phastos) and the three free eternals (Thena, Druig and Makkari +Harry Styles and his horrifying cgi gremlin friend) working to save them. It would spice things up to throw in a wildcard to either team in the form of a really unstable untrustworthy Ikaris (I would lean toward adding him to the captured team because it makes numbers more even; it makes more sense if Arishem is the one who brought them back; and they’re the team that needs drama since as it stands Sersi, Kingo and Phastos get along fine and the B team already has Harry to be a wildcard).

Getting into a Fight with Druig Would Include
Druig x Reader | Headcanons
A/N: Thank you anon for requesting! I haven't written this much in so long! This guy....
Requests are OPEN
Tumblr media
Druig in all honestly loved to pick fights with his fellow Eternals
he loved watching the vein in Ikaris' neck pop when he called him out on his shit
even fighting with Thena brought some weird joy to his soul
but you
he hated fighting with you
you to never really fought in the centuries you've been together
sure little spats here and there
but when the rest of the old team came to your home, you'd never fought like that before
"We have to help them," you tell him sternly
"They don't need us, and for what? They show up all of a sudden and want to be friends. Fuck that Y/N."
"Oh get over yourself, Druig! This isn't about you, or me. It's about the 7 billion people on this planet!"
Druig ignores you, turning to walk out of the room
you were always the first to walk away from an argument
but this time your hand grips his jacket-clad shoulder, roughly turning him around to see your face
the angered look on your face truly scared him
your jaw was clenched "Do you realize how selfish you're being right now?"
"Do I look like I give a fuck about anyone else?" he screamed in your face
your face softened
proud shoulders started to slump
tears started to form in your eyes
he fucked up
there was an instant look of shock and regret on his face
"Y/N...Y/N I didn't mean it. My love-"
"Save it!" you interrupt through gritted teeth, pushing past him
he desperately reached for your arm but you pulled away
wrapping your arms around yourself
yes, he hated arguments but even more, he hated seeing you cry
he hated being the cause of it
"Y/N! Please!" he pleaded
he ran towards the door and pressed his back against it
"Move," you hissed
"No! listen to me, you're my wife you have to at least listen, please?"
you sat on one of the benches
"I care about you."
You scoff and roll your eyes
he moves away from the doors and gets on his knees in front of you
you admit you love to see him on his knees but that was for another time
his hands reach up to wipe the fallen tears
"I didn't mean what I said, my love...I said it out of fear. I can't risk losing you again."
you run your fingers through his hair
"I should've been careful with my words."
a loud crash followed by an animalistic screech from outside the building broke him out of the apology
"They need our help, Druig."
he sighs and stands up, taking off his jacket and reaching for the gun in the corner of the room
"Fine...but only for you, no one else."

So my request might be a little odd but I am obsessed with jealous Druig 😭. So I was thinking maybe reader and Ikaris are messing around (friends with benefits sort of thing) and someone catches them in a super compromising position and tells the other Eternals and Druig who has feelings for reader kinda goes mad? 🖤💜🖤
ooh yes jealous!druig is the best! thanks for the request :)

"Guys! Guys!" Sprite hollered as she rushed in. "Guess what I just saw?" She skidded to a stop and hunched over with her hands on her knees, out of breath.
Phastos stood up from the chair he was sitting in and approached her. "What is it, Sprite?"
"Ikaris... and... (Y/N)..." she wheezed between pants.
Druig, who had been half-listening up until that point, snapped to attention at the mention of your name. "What?"
"I saw them together. Like, together together." She wiggled her brows suggestively.
Druig shot up out of his chair. "You're lying."
"I'm not!" she objected. "Here, see for yourself."
With a wave of her hand, she conjured an image of you and Ikaris. Ikaris was leaning over you. He had a hold on your thigh, your leg hiked up around his waist. You were staring up at him through half-lidded eyes, your lips stretched into a faint smirk.
Druig's blood boiled in his veins. He would've charged at Ikaris if he had really been there and wasn't just an illusion.
As quick as the vision had appeared, it was gone just as easily, dissipating into thin air. Druig shook his head, trying to erase the image from his head. "I don't believe you. You're just making that up," he gritted out.
Sprite settled her hands on her hips. "Why would I do that?"
He whirled on her, a wild look in his eyes. "Because you're a selfish, little brat who loves to gossip and stir up drama, that's why!"
Kingo stepped in front of her. “Druig, you need to calm down.”
Druig became aware of all the wary eyes on him now. He backed away from them, every muscle in his body tense. "There's no way... She would never..." He failed to find the words to convince himself. How could you?
“I... have to go.” He spun around and marched out of the room, not daring to look back and see what their reactions were. All he knew was that he had to get as far away from this place as soon as possible before he did something stupid. And he definitely didn’t want to run into-
He collided into someone hard, nearly taking them to the ground. He stumbled back and looked up to lock eyes with you.
“Woah, watch where you’re going,” you jested. “Where are you off to in such a hurry?”
He watched as you adjusted your shirt, fidgeting with the buttons. Something in the corner of his eye caught his attention, and his gaze flickered to your neck. Peeking out from underneath your collar was a dark splotch blossoming across your skin. Was that... a hickey?
The playfulness dropped from your face when he remained silent. “Are you okay? You seem a little distracted.”
He shrugged it off, trying to maintain his composure. “I’m fine,” he muttered. “I just wasn’t paying attention, that’s all.”
He turned around and stomped off in the opposite direction, leaving you dumbstruck behind him. “Oh, okay,” he heard you softly murmur.
He squared his jaw, focusing on putting one foot in front of the other. He had altered from his original course. He wasn’t going to run away. No, he was going to stand his ground and talk to Ikaris himself.

Y/N grunts as he puts out more energy into keeping his shield up as he feels the heat from Ikaris's rays trying to break through. They were having a sparring match in the new Avengers training area. It was big enough that Thor and the Hulk could have their annual wrestling matches and the room itself would repair itself.
At the moment, Y/N, was locked into a spinning match of energy with Ikaris. Y/N had blocked and Ikaris had attacked as the two of them started the spin in a circular motion, two forces like comets and stars pushing up against each other until one was destroyed.
Ikaris was trying to burn through his shield with his optical vision as Y/N was hellbent on keeping it up. He didn't understand it. Ikaris knows he can't break through it, so why continue to attack him this way?
Their spinning drew faster and faster until they were a blur or red and gold as both forces of magic and cosmic were trying to get the upper hand on each other. There was no clear winner.
It was only too late that Y/N realized what Ikaris was up to. He wasn't trying to break through Y/N's defenses. He just needed a way to draw him in close so he could enact his plan of victory.
Ikaris knew it was futile to try and manhandle his way into battle, so he counted on the fact that Y/N would go on the defensive side if Ikaris pushed him into it. He knew if he got close, the young man would act accordingly. He had been right.
Now, Y/N was stuck. He couldn't move his hand to break this endless cycle, otherwise Ikaris would break through, so he had no choice but to watch as the bubble sphere of power grew between them as Ikaris smirks and pushed hard with his laser eyes until the energy exploded and sent them both flying back.
Y/N flew back and hit his back against the wall and he fell with a thud. He looks up a moment later, Ikaris smiling down at him. "I won."
"Fine. Fine. You won. You've proven you can kick my ass." He stood up. "Can I go now?" He tried to walk away, but Ikaris grabbed his arm. "Oh, no, you don't. I won. And you remember our agreement. The winner gets to fuck the loser however he chooses, and I want it right here and now."
"Come on, Ikaris. Can't we do that after? I'm all sweaty and my back hurts." Y/N whines.
"And you're going to be even more sweaty and sore when I'm done with you." Ikaris smiled.

Falling in Love Again and Again ~Druig Imagine~
Summary: You have the powers of a phoenix. You had met the Eternals when a Deviant showed up to the city of Greece in 3000 B.C. However, Druig stays with you even when you pass and are reborn.
Author's Note: Let's face it, we all simped for everyone other than Ikaris.
Reader's Pronouns: She/Her
Warnings: Spoilers!!!!
Part Two | Part Three
Tumblr media
Phoenixes were a big clan that helped small towns that surrounded Greece. You were one of them before becoming one of the last few left from defending Greece from what was known as Deviants according to the Eternals.
"You're a phoenix?" Druig asked you. After defeating another Deviant, you were all celebrating in the city. You stood away from the party as you watched everyone celebrate happily.
"Yes. One of the last of my kind," you tell him.
"Where are the others?" Druig asked you.
"Here and there. They all spread out after hearing about these Deviants. I and my cousin live here to defend the city of Greece," you explained.
"You've never seen the world?" Druig asked you.
"No. I wish I could."
"Then you should come with us. We could use a strong fighter like you."
"I wouldn't know anyone other than you and your family," you tell him.
"And what's so bad about that?" Druig asked you.
"Nothing."
"So what do you say? Come join me and my family and help fight off the Deviants?" Druig asked you.
"I'd like that," you smiled at him.
It was the first reborn that freaked everyone out. Especially Druig. The downside of your powers was that once you are reborn, you forget your memories before your death. You could only remember the fact that you were a phoenix and who you were.
Druig rushed over to you as you sat up from the ashes. Your naked body was marked with the black ash, covering you a little. Sprite quickly covered you with an illusion of clothes as you looked around confused.
"Y/n. Are you okay?" Druig asked you.
"Who are you?" You asked him.
"Y/n, stop kidding around," Kingo said.
"What? Who are you, people? Where's my family?" You asked.
"Let me talk to her alone," Ajak said.
Ajak walked you over to a hut to talk to you alone and explain the situation. Druig waited impatiently as he watched the door of the hut for you or Ajak to come out.
"Druig, are you okay?" Sersi asked as she approached the anxious man.
"I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"You know, you could convince her to stay," Sersi tells him. Druig looked over at her before looking back at the hut. Ajak walked out before looking over at him. Ajak gave him a nod before walking off.
Druig quickly rushed into the hut to see you in new clothes. You looked over at him as he walked in.
"Hello. Can I help you?" You asked.
"My beautiful, beautiful Y/n. Do you not remember me?" Druig asked.
"I'm sorry. I don't. Maybe you can help me remember?" You asked.
"Of course. I promised to stay by you after every reborn."
"Were we together?" You asked him.
"No. But I want us to be."
"Let me fall in love with you again and you can ask me again," you smiled. Druig smiled before lifting your hand to kiss the top of it.
It wasn't long for you and Druig to admit your feelings for each other. Druig had been protective of you since. He had done his best to protect you from being reborn again.
"My love, you know I can defend myself," you tell Druig as you were all celebrating another victory in saving a city from a Deviant.
"I cannot deal with another reborn. I didn't like the first reborn and knowing you can lose your memories, I don't want to lose you again," Druig tells you.
"You will never lose me as long as you are there to help me remember," you tell him. Druig smiled before leaning down to give you a kiss.
"Let's marry."
"What?"
"Let's marry. Keep our love bonded even if you do reborn again," Druig tells you. You smiled and nodded.
"Okay."
Your second reborn was when Thena suffered from Mahd Wy'ry and attacked everyone. To save Makkari, you pushed her away before being stabbed by Thena's weapon. Druig let out a small yell before quickly catching you before you fell.
"Druig, please help me remember you when I reborn," you tell him.
"Of course, my love."
When you were reborn again, Druig took you over to the top of the temple with everyone else. While Gilgamesh agreed to take care of Thena, Druig decided to leave and live in a war-free society. You sat on a step while Druig mind controlled the war that was going on below you.
"I'm taking Y/n with me along with everyone else," Druig tells them. You looked over at him before looking at everyone else.
"You don't want to return her to her cousin in Greece? Or help find her family so she can see them again?" Ikaris asked.
"I'm her family now. Remember? Y/n, my love. Let's go," Druig said he offered his hand to you. You held his hand before standing up. You looked back at everyone before following Druig down the stairs and into the forest.
"Who are you?" You asked Druig as you both walked off with everyone he has mind-controlled over.
"I am your husband, my love. And I promise that no one will ever hurt you ever again," Druig tells you before kissing your hand.
"What about everyone that was in the temple?" You asked looking back. Druig cupped your cheek, making you look back at him.
"Don't worry about them. I have you and that's all I need," Druig tells you as he pressed his forehead against yours.

What if the roles are reversed? Thena being the kind and gentle one and Gil being the introvert and quiet one?
He catches her in the corner of his eye, a room away, talking with Kingo and Sersi. She does well with the humans, with her soft voice and gentle touch. They're talking with some as they celebrate the victories of today. She smiles at him.
He catches himself smiling back before he takes his leave. He's not one for the revelry of things. He much prefers taking up his post on the high walls of Babylon temple, scouting for Deviants, being the Strongest Eternal in every sense of the word.
Thena is meant to be beloved.
She glows, in a way. She is both a paragon of their team of Fighters as well as one of the most adapted to life on this planet. The humans think of her like an angel, or a goddess. He understands how they would come to think that of her.
They're more...frightened of him.
Thena swears they aren't--that all they need do is get to know him. See the gentle nature he has with her. But she doesn't seem to realise that she is the oddity. She is this completely new and unique thing unlike any other in his world.
She is his whole world.
"Here."
He smiles as she sets down a full mug of wine in front of him. She's always doing little things like that for him. He looks at her, "and you?"
"Hm, I'm not one for it, you know that," she shrugs, her voice even softer than usual with him. It assures him that the soft spot she has in his heart matches the one he occupies in hers. "But it was quite a fight today. You should let yourself relax."
"Revel, you mean?" he chuckles, but does take a sip of the human fermented wine. It's not nearly strong enough for the makeup of their cells, but he supposes it's not unpleasant.
"Fine, indulge in some revelry," she laughs under her breath, and it's a beautiful sound. "For me?"
He would rip the planet in two for her. "Fine."
She grins at her victory, her smile showing off her pearly teeth. Everything about her is pearly. "Were you listening to Sprite's story?"
Thena looks at him though with crystal green eyes like the seas across the entirety of the planet. She slips her hand under his, "you don't scare me."
He shrugs, leaning more easily on the railing of the mezzanine. "It's a nice story--don't think it's gonna change anyone's mind about me being the scary one."
She scares him, though. The rhythm of his heart shifting to match hers scares him. He smiles, "nothing scares you."
"That is true."
He chuckles this time, just a little, and she looks like she's taken on a hundred Deviants and come out with victory. She's funny, and yet she acts like making him laugh is the highlight of her day.
He takes another sip of wine so he doesn't start telling her that she's the highlight of all his days, too. "Shouldn't you be down there?--revelling?"
She looks at him as if the answer is quite obvious, and maybe it is. "Why would I want to be down there if you're up here?"
He stares down at the crowd, at Sersi dancing with the humans and Ikaris clumsily trying to join in just so he can have a chance for his hand to brush the Elemental Eternal's in passing. There are plenty of things he doesn't like about his brother, but this part--this, he understands.
"Hm?" Thena prompts him again, bringing herself even closer to him. She's tall, and lithe, even against his intimidating frame, although he's quite sure she weighs the same as a human child. But she never hesitates to put herself close to him. She almost seems to enjoy it.
"You win," he concedes, because she loves winning. She gets this little look on her face, and he wonders if he should participate in more of Kingo's antics or Ikaris' little contests just to see more of that look.
"As much as I do relish victory of any sort," she indulges with a grin. She looks at him, and it softens like the sun melting into the horizon. "I would rather be here with you."
By all the stars in the sky, his heart beats for this woman. Not that he has the poetry to express that, so instead he puts his hand on her back, and she lets him. His lips pull up slightly, "then I'm honored to have the Goddess of War choose my company."
She gifts him with another laugh at his little joke before leaning into him again. She's not afraid of affection--not like he is, fearful of hugging someone too hard and breaking their bones. She allows Kingo to pat her shoulder, hugs Sersi and Makkari and Sprite, even Ajak from time to time. She and Ikaris jostle each other in good faith (most of the time).
But with him, she leans in, rests her head against his shoulder, as if he is a safe haven for her in which to find rest. And he may not understand it, but if that's what she needs from him, then he will be that for the rest of his days.
He holds her delicately, but the fear of his strength leaves him. Because every breath they take together is a push and pull, perfectly balanced. He doesn't have to be afraid with her. For all his rough, unbending edges, she has fluidity and grace. She doesn't mind his withdrawn nature or quietness or intimidating stare.
"Gil?"
"Hm?" he responds, because he loves it when she calls him Gil. No one else does. To anyone else, he's not a nickname person. But she can call him anything she wants.
"We have watch," she reminds him gently, moving away but keeping his hand in hers as she starts drifting outside the party room and towards the walls. "Shall we?"
He will follow her anywhere, across this whole planet if need be. But instead of saying that, he squeezes her hand and says, "after you."

Chamber Of Reflection. (I)
Tumblr media
Pairings: Druig x (Gender Neutral) Eternal!Reader
Warnings: None!
Summary: The reader and Druig break up, a few years go by and due to recent events, they must meet each other once again.
A/N: I will be making this a two (or maybe three) part story so it doesn't feel to crammed in.
〰 1976
"Will you please stop yelling at me?" I place my hands on my head.
"I'm serious, (y/n)! He was literally all over you, how could you not see that?" He crossed his arms.
"I genuinely just thought he wanted to be my friend, I didn't know that he was going to try and kiss me." This night wasn't supposed to go like this, I hated fighting with Druig.
Druig scoffs and shakes his head at me, "You are so naive. You know that, right?"
I copy his moves, "And you're a jealous idiot!"
A silence goes by, in an attempt to break it I gently place my hand on his arm, only for Druig to angrily pull away.
A knot forms in my throat and I gulp, "This isn't going to work, is it?"
"What?" Druig turns to face me, an unreadable expression resting on his face.
"Can't you see? We've been together for literally forever, we've been fighting so much recently it doesn't feel like you want me around you any-"
Druig interrupts, "Don't be ridiculous, (y/n). Of course I want you around."
"Well then start acting like you do. It feels like we're drifting apart and nothing I do can ever help it." I sniff, "I'm afraid we're now going on different paths and that I must move on from you."
His hands gently cradle my face and he shakes his head, "No, don't say that. I love you, we're meant to be together, always! We can fix this, just- please." He stammers.
"The damage is done. Tonight was our chance to start fixing us, this is the universe telling us that we must move on." I look into his tear filled eyes and bite my lip in an attempt to silence out any cries.
I manage to stand up and grab my things, packing them in a bag and walking out, seeing Druig in the same position as before.
"I'm so sorry, dear. Perhaps in another lifetime we could've happened." I whisper, placing one last final kiss on his lips before i'm out the door.
Present Day
Living with Sersi and Sprite wasn't so bad, and I liked Dane, he was good for Sersi.
Everything seemed to be going well but of course, it doesn't last forever.
After the deviant attack in London, a lot changed, I didn't know what to expect now. Ikaris returned, Ajak was gone, and the revelation that we weren't real? Everything felt so overwhelming and strange.
"(Y/n)!" Sersi gently shook me from my thoughts. "Hmm?" I mumble in reply.
"You realize we have to find Druig, right?" Ikaris spoke.
I nodded, "I do. After all, we can't really do this without him or Phastos or Makkari, can we?"
Sersi placed a hand on my shoulder, "Don't worry, i'll make sure to have your back, I promise." She reassuringly smiles at me. I nod and return the smile, "Thank you."
We made our way to the Amazon rainforest, where we knew we could find him.
I walked behind Kingo and Karun, "(Y/n) here thinks that they can hide behind us forever to avoid seeing her former lover." Kingo said.
I cross my arms, "Very funny."
"But i'm right, aren't I?" Kingo replies.
"... Maybe." I mumble. Kingo gently pats my head, "Don't worry, i'm sure everything will turn out fine between you and him."
Just then, a door swung open, there he was.
"Well- if it isn't nice to see you all." Druig spoke.
A deep breath leaves my lips and I make myself known, I knew hiding wasn't going to do anything. This moment was inevitable, I would have to face him again at some point.
Druig's lips dropped as soon as he saw me. I walked up to him, "You didn't miss me too much, did you?" I teased him.
He stood quiet for a few moments before letting out a soft chuckle, "You took the words right out of my mouth."

We Fell in Love in the History Section
request: Can I please request a bookstore date/ meet with Ikaris, please?
pairing: ikaris x fem!reader
words: 1,757
warnings: fluffy as can be
requested by the lovely @spid3rgwen
Tumblr media
"Excuse me," I began as I approached the clerk of my favorite tiny hole-in-the-wall bookstore I'd discovered one rainy day, the lithe elderly man smiling up at me. I felt bad about not remembering his name, given my weekly visits to the shop, but his friendliness quickly shooed all worry out of my mind. "Could you help me find something? I'm looking for a good book on ancient Babylon, but i have no idea where to start."
"Hmm, Babylon...are you a student?" He asked with a smile, curious about my inquest. I shook my head and shrugged with a smile.
"Nope, just curious is all." He huffed out a chuckle and fixed his glasses that slid too far down his nose, leaving his seat at the counter to guide me to the proper section.
"I should warn you, I'm not a non-fiction reader. But if we had something on it..." He led me to a quiet aisle of books that only one other patron was standing in, his eyes searching the bookshelves for a minute before spotting the proper era. "Ah! Here, this is where we'd have it."
"There's more than I thought there'd be." I chuckled at the mutli-shelf collection of Babylonian history books, feeling overwhelmed.
"Worry not, my dear. I may not be of much help, but luckily my friend over here knows more about the subject than most professors, I reckon." I watched as the tiny old man walked up to the man standing a yard from us, patting him on the back. "Ikaris, would you mind helping Miss..."
"Y/N." I filled in my name as I shook the mans hand, my eyes only lingering on his bright blue ones for a second. Making note of how attractive my new aide was, I quickly turned my eyes back to the shelf in front of me, mindlessly scanning the spines of history books unrelated to my query.
"Hello, Y/N." Ikaris opened his mouth and I swore internally, chastising myself for leaving the house without a hint of makeup on today. No one actually falls in love at a bookstore, I said to myself as I left the house looking like the half-alive grad-student I usually kept hidden under a thick layer of makeup. As I screamed at myself in my head, I overheard a friendly conversation between the two men, wondering how two men with such an age gap could get on like old friends. It was only then that I realized my handsome librarian had an accent--Scottish, maybe? "No, go take your lunch, Leo. I'll watch the store."
"I'm not even paying you, Ikaris. It doesn't feel right." Leo insisted, but Ikaris wasn't having it.
"Yer fine, Leo. I don't want you missing your meds." I had already silenced my inner chaos to eavesdrop on their conversation, my heart warming at the care Ikaris was showing the old man. "Go on, I've got it."
"Okay, okay." Leo begrudgingly walked off towards the back of the store, leaving Ikaris and I alone.
"Sorry about him, he's too stubborn for his own good." Ikaris smiled at me while I stared up at him in a daze, my mind too busy with fantasies of our wedding day to pay attention to what he was saying. "What can I help ye' with?"
"Right, uh, I was just trying to find a good book about Babylon, but as I see now, there's quite a lot of material to sort through." I chuckled and gestured to the section of books, watching as he gave me a curious grin.
"Babylon, eh? Writing an essay?" He leaned against the bookcase and I turned away from him to hide my blush, the heat of his confident gaze burning into my cheek as I studied the names of the historians in front of me.
"No essay this time. Just a curious girl, I guess." I took a breath before turning back to him, his eyes never straying from mine. I smiled through my flushed cheeks and stared at him back in awkward silence, a grin growing on his face as he began to become flushed as well.
"Hm," He cleared his throat and sucked in a sharp breath as he stood up and walked behind me, his hand resting lightly on my upper back as he guided me to follow him. Usually I would be immediately grossed out at any man touching me, but I found myself cold once he removed his hand. "Ye' have to trust me on this. I've studied the era for thousands of years it feels like..."
"How old are you?" I asked bluntly as he walked me to a different area of the store, my eyes able to spot a smile on his handsome face as he walked in front of me. "Sorry, that's actually none of my business."
"No, I get that a lot. I just have an old soul, I think." He looked back at me as we walked, winking at me and ruining my life. "I feel like ye' have an old soul too."
"Old soul, old bones, old everything, really." I joked, feeling proud as I drew my first genuine laugh from his lips. "So why do I need to trust you again?"
"Because I'm not going to recommend some stuffy history book from some stuffy professor who never even lived there." He started, his accent turning his words into some sort of verbal cursive that I had to work my way through to understand.
"No? Then what is your recommendation, Ikaris?" I asked, noting as a blush returned to his face at the sound of his own name leaving my lips. He grinned, dimples on the sides of his mouth appearing as he stopped in front of a section of small section of historic literature. "Poetry?"
"Sort of," He began as he grabbed a beat-up book with it's title half-worn. "It's our best translation of The Epic of Gilgamesh."
"Never heard of it." I chuckled and accepted the book into my hands, my fingertips running over the battered linen that covered the book. When I looked back to Ikaris, I was suprised to see his eyes studying the way I traced over the bumps and grooves of the warped copy. "How old is this?"
"I think it's from the seventies, but it's been very well loved by me over the years." He seemed to be swept away in his mind to a time of nostalgia as he looked down at the book, filling me with curiosity. After a beat, he seemed to realize he was stuck in a daydream and looked back to my eyes, chuckling softly at himself. "Anyways, would ye' like me to tell ye' more about it?"
"I'd like to hear you tell me more about anything." I flirted, finally mustering the courage to be open about my very obvious interest in him. Ikaris blushed and nodded, gesturing at the two armchairs sat by the window. I sat down and looked out into the street, the passersby and dreary spring day passing by without care for my sudden love story.
"I think this book means more and says more about Babylonian history and society than a history book ever will. It is the earliest piece of translatable literature we have." He sat next to me, his knee touching mine, sparking chills all over my body. And instead of moving away, he simply remained still.
I was so overwhelmed by the man beside me, his looks only the cherry on top. He seemed to know more about everything than I ever would, and although I never considered myself an idiot, being in his presence made me fear I actually knew nothing. Instead of fighting with my fear and insecurity, I leaned into him, desperate for another drop of wisdom from his perfectly pouted lips.
"It's just such an incredible tale of the human experience, and shows that humanity at its core transcends time and era. We've always been a lonely, scared, happy, heroic people...it doesn't matter that they lived 3,000 years ago." He smiled at me when he finished speaking, sighing and shrugging. "Sorry if that's too dramatic, it's just incredible to me how humanity remains the same at its core--or its soul, for lack of a better word--even when life has changed so much more than they could have ever imagined."
"No, it's not dramatic to be passionate about something. It's very heartwarming, actually." I squeezed the book close before turning back to him with a nervous grin. "I know I'm just some strange woman coming in looking for a book about Babylon, but I would love to buy you a cup of coffee and talk about this more after I've read it. Would you maybe like to exchange numbers?"
"I would very much like that, Y/N." He smiled and reached into his back pocket for his phone, handing it to me with the contact page open. I bit my lip at the green flag and typed in my information before handing it back. I watched as he smiled down at his phone before feeling my back-pocket vibrate. Grabbing my phone, I saved his number before opening the message. I chuckled at the sight of him grinning at me in an unflattering selfie, looking up to see him staring at me with a bashful smile.
"Its only fair that you have one too." I said as I took a picture from the same angle, my double chins on full display. I sent it to him and watched as he opened it, his head tossing back as he laughed.
"It's perfect. Thank you for that beautiful contact picture, Y/N." Our smitten laughter was interrupted by the ding of a bell, our heads whipping over to the front counter where an old woman stood impatiently waiting to be helped. "Duty calls. And I hope you will too once you've finished your reading."
"I doubt I'll be able to wait that long." I chuckled and reached into my purse for the money I owed him, but was stopped by his hand on mine.
"No need." He said simply before walking away, a bright smile on his face as he greeted the less-friendly looking woman. "Is that all for today, Dolores? Have ye' made your way through the entire store already?"
"Oh, don't try to charm me too, dear..."
Their conversation turned to faint mumbles as I left the store, my heart still sat cozily at the window along with his.
