Marching band comps = stupid(maybe)

recently, I went to my first boa competition for marching band.

The way that they do their class size is lowkey unfair. Insted of being based on band size, it's based off of school enrolment size. While there is some parrallel with bigger bands, there can be a huge band with a small school, or a huge school with a small band. it's unfair to all those bands with wierd enrollment ratios to band memebers.

The Black-banded Owl (lat. Strix huhula) is a representative of the genus of tawny owls. Its habitat is the vast territories of Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia, the southern parts of Venezuela and Colombia. These are relatively small (30-36 cm) nocturnal predators, wing length 243-280 mm, and weight 397 g. Strix huhula color: gray owl with black stripes.

Black-banded Owl inhabit tropical and subtropical forests, banana and coffee plantations east of the Andes. Prefers lowlands, usually no higher than 500 meters above sea level, but has also been found in the foothills of the Andes. The owl feeds mainly on insects, especially locusts, mantises and beetles. May also consume small mammals and other small vertebrates.

i know there’s maybe one person who follows me cares about band but lemme just walk y’all through what’s Currently Happening:

so. bands of america grand nationals is probably the biggest event in the high school marching world of the season. it’s a three day long event hosted in lucas oil stadium in indianapolis in which any band in the nation can register and compete in. your band could’ve come dead last in your local regional comp and still go to nats. that’s just how it be

now, because this is a nationwide event, all three rounds (prelims, semifinals, and finals) are livestreamed via box5 for marching fans who can’t make the trip. my family absolutely loves marching band, and four texas bands are competing so ofc we had to buy the stream and watch in support (three of the four made finals, one of which i had the honor to compete against earlier this season. slay team texas good luck y’all)

all day the stream was working fine, until finals. around band number four, shit started glitching, and a couple bands later, during my personal favorite show of the afternoon, box5 crashed. entirely. no one has access to the stream rn. it went down about an hour ago

all of this to say: box5 i am simply a Sad Little Child in denial of the fact that my marching season has ended and trying to cope via grand nats. pls lemme watch my silly lil band shows :(
