The AUs of the Twins
Ghost AU Ouma Twins Reference Sheet
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So in actuality this isn't an official AU I'm working on by any means....... but I drew the BETA designs for Kokichi and Kurochi in Twins AU, back when it was just a couple of out of order fics posted on Ao3? Sort of as a patient Zero on the designs. Except I wanna show the art off so I was like "I need to bullshit an AU--oh! Dead Rochi AU, perfect!"
Anyway this AU isn't real and cannot hurt me. It's not real and cannot hurt me... The twins must always be together...
Ahem.
Canon Kokichi's cape is the most boring of all, sadly...
Still, in an AU where Kurochi died when he was 12, Kokichi would look like his canon self and Rochi as a ghost would probably mirror him. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Phantom Thieves AU Ouma Twins Reference Sheet
Tumblr media
No u do NOT get to see Kokichi without his cape and mask, because I'm lazy. I've also gotten too lazy to separate the twins out into their own files so please forgive me I am Tired.
The back of Kokichi's outfit looks exactly like Rochi's so there's no need to really show it off here, right? I--FUCK. ROCHI'S LEG DOESN'T HAVE THE BLACK STRAPS ON THE BACK POSE. Ah well they're supposed to be there but I cannot be fucked.
Also remember how I was like "What if D.I.C.E. had a masquerade theme instead of a clown theme? This is the result of that. Kind of. It's actually the result of me putting the canon Twins AU cape on this old Twins AU redesign and putting on the P5AU persona mask for Kokichi on too, making a very interesting design! The hat was tackled on at the end to make it look real PT like.
Not really an official AU or anything, just for funsies and I didn't want to let these designs go to waste so I repurposed them.
Persona 5 Awakened Ouma Twins Reference Sheet
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay so these designs have some themes I wanna talk about!
Kokichi's theme of rebellion is "Prince meets Robin hood, decides that eating the rich is a good idea, becomes new Robin Hood." Which is a bit of a mouthful but it fully explains Kokichi's design for the P5AU. He's from a wealthy family that he hates, and he wants to punish the rich bastards who hurt people by giving them a Change of Heart. Kokichi's cloak is themed after the phases of the moon and a bird chasing after the guiding star.
Kurochi's theme of rebellion is about reclaiming the childhood he never had. He's supposed to look like an extremely goofy, cartoon spy with his mask literally being those gag spy glasses and having a prop newspaper that probably has eye holes in it. He's even got a utility belt and everything. People often forget what his mask looks like when they haven't seen it in a while and they get shocked and laugh each time.
This AU is the only AU currently where the Twins don't actually match one another--and it's because it's their inner selves making the outfits that are fitting for their rebellion.
Bonus:
Tumblr media
He looks so much more like a phantom thief here LMAO.

Have I ever shown my Scarlet Briar clone? No? Well here she is!
A bit overdue, but I’ve got some ramblings about her for my own story. So if you’re interested, read under the cut. Warning tho, some minor story spoilers ahead.
Alright, I’ve been wanting to make Scarlet Briar years ago and only until last year did I finally get the right attire to finally sit down and create her. Her in-game name is Daybloom Ceara and she’s part of an AU for my story
In my main story, she’s Aurenthir’s podtwin. In the main storyline, her fate is the same as it is in canon. In the other AU I have, Daybloom Ceara is actually an assemble of Watchknight parts with Asuran tech built by AU Aurenthir after the defeat of Mordremoth (the very Watchknights during LWS1 that were used to disguise as her).
Her outfit dyes are not the same as the in-game Scarlet Briar simply because Aurenthir decided on the outfit colors himself when he built her (can’t imagine her original outfit would’ve survived during Lion’s Arch’s assault). He tried his best to collect and restore the memory banks from the busted Watchknights and holograms Scarlet used to duplicate her personality (before her descent into madness).
I do have ideas of AU Aurenthir heading over to Cantha to improve his sister’s overall functionality with Jade Tech. Aurenthir would meet Yao and actually become good friends with them, getting suckered into Holo-dramas and geeking over the Jade Bots =P
I’ve also played with the idea of Daybloom Ceara going haywire due to the Jade Corruption after her upgrade, and Aurenthir has to seek out the Commander’s help to subdue her and get rid of the corruption. And of course, had this discussion with @midnightmako about Aurenthir meeting Mai Trin again after all the years. Gonna be a trip when Mai Trin tries to explain to him that she has his twin in her head ahaha
I am having fun typing up notes for this AU I’ve been thinking about. Maybe one day I’ll post them on this blog

Bury me on a flower field
But don't cover my withered eyelids
So that at least something will sprout out of them
Since a happy person has not grown out of me
[Дарья Виардо - Ангел похоронитель]
-----------------------------------------
Had a sudden urge to draw the third page for that one entrapdak fam comic I did a while ago :))))
I know explaining your own art is cringe and pretentious but I want to scream about this page so bad so please don't mind my silly commentary ><
Forgot to add, but here Anillis also calls Hordak "Poppy!". The very first thing baby Prime did when he saw Hordak was to give him a name (or rather a nickname)
Сomparing Hordak's eyes with poppy flowers, Anillis literally shows acceptance and appreciation for his imperfections, the very "defect" his (Prime's) future self will despise so much
Literally everything about the song and it's lyrics makes me wanna go feral gpfohpfphp (but it's so hard to translate i hate it here might've missed translation error too :/)
Hordak looking so lost, and vulnerable and younger and so full of HOPE-
I'm still unsure whether or not everything holo-Anillis did and said was pre-recorded so this part is up to interpretation
Either way, it's still not Prime who talks to Hordak and gives him the flower and smiles at him with joy and excitement. Prime is dead
AND THE FLOWER IS NOT REAL
also NOT a fun fact: In spacebats' culture a term "Flower eyes" was sometimes used when reffering to someone who is dead (and the fact that Anillis is pointing at his eye aka at himself HELP)
As well as they symbolize remembrance and eternal sleep(death) poppy flowers are also associated with sleep in general. In that case, could this image of Anillis be a hint that neither Hordak nor Kadroh are fully "awake" yet and still need to open their eyes to some things about themselves, their past and their dead tyrant brother? I dunno c:
Again, I'm so completely normal about this comic and this AU like-

Kur twins' outfit desgins
Sooo I finally sat down and decided on final designs for Anillis (young Prime) and his brother Hec-Tor!
These are their regular day-to-day looks (how they'll appear in my Horde Prime's origin story, or Kur twins au, how I'm going to call it from now on)
Tumblr media
Despite very lazy simple rendering ( i wanted to focus on it more at first, but then the file crushed a few times so i gave up lol) I still can say these drawings are quite detailed, so tap/click to stare at them in higher quality c:

And if the bridges have been burnt

Oh wow can't believe Crystal Castles are such big spacebats fans that they dedicated a huge chunk of their discography to Hordak and his brothers🙏😔/j

My #1 post of 2022
An interesting Hordak/Entrapta parallel i can't stop thinking about
At a certain point in their lives both of them 1) were exiled and basically sent to die by someone who was important to them and whom they fully trusted (a friend/family/god) 2) got stuck in a strange place, isolated from the rest of the world/universe, all alone (lol speaking of trauma bonds...)
Two very similar and yet very different situations. And here’s the fun part: the main difference between Entrapta and Hordak’s stories is the opposite ways in which they react to their opposite circumstances, cope with and adapt to new changes

Put a Little Faith in Me
Hi, this makes me nervous to post, but here goes.
This goes out to all my plus-size babes. If you’re anything like me, you’ve found your size to be the reason for trouble in your dating life. Whether your own insecurity, or the hurtful words of others, or being looked over because of society’s standards of what a person (particularly women) should look like. I’ve seen some more body-positive fics recently (Such as this one I just read recently by @greatervanfleet ! ) and I think it’s so good and so important to write more plus-size representation into romantic stories. It can be so hard to think of ourselves as beautiful and worthy of being desired. If you find writing about a negative body image to be triggering, please don’t read this, but I’ve found that this type of fiction has really helped me to remember my desirability. HOWEVER, I don’t want anyone to think that the male gaze is what makes or breaks their beauty. You’re stunning exactly as you are, and you don’t need anyone else to prove that to you. As usual, this is all fiction and doesn’t reflect any of the real characters mentioned.
Just a reminder that you’re all hot and I love you ;). I’m basing this Y/N character off someone my own size, I wear like a 20/22 (US sizing), 2/3X clothes. I’ve dated guys who were much smaller than me, and I’m trying to help normalize that in the fic world. This is not at all dissing thinner people, nor the writing of thin characters, because all bodies are good bodies and every size should be represented and loved. Okay, spiel over, enjoy!! This is gonna be Josh X Reader, bc I’m a twin girl at heart but if you like this and want to see a similar theme with the other guys, lmk!
Also, this is a College AU I guess?
WARNINGS: Negative self-image, insecurity about weight, mentions of unhealthy/disordered eating habits if you squint, use of the word “f*t” to describe a plus-size person (characters says about themself).
Your alarm blared in your ear. Fuck, already? It felt like your head had just hit the pillow minutes before, but your alarm let you know otherwise. It was a Saturday, so normally you’d be sleeping in, but you’d agreed to go to the art museum with your high school friends since it was spring break. You hadn’t seen them since you’d all left for school the previous summer. You were nervous to see them, knowing that you’d put on the famous “freshman fifteen” with all the late nights of studying and junk food. You were already self conscious about your weight for the entire time you’d known them, and none of the boys had ever said or done anything to make you feel bad about yourself, but your own brain did enough to make you dread having to pick out an outfit you didn’t feel awful in. Especially since you’d harbored a crush for your best friend, Josh, since you’d known him. You knew it was silly to worry about it. He’d never see you that way, and you knew it. With one more heavy sigh, you picked yourself up and out of your bed and headed to shower. You didn’t let yourself look at your naked form for long before stepping into the shower and trying to forget your worries. He’d seen you in pictures on your social media, you tell yourself. He’ll already know that you gained more weight. You tried to tell yourself that it wasn’t even that noticeable, and that he wouldn’t care. You were already his fat friend. You scolded yourself for using that word to describe yourself silently as the water slid through your hair and down your body. He’d told you before that you were beautiful, but isn’t that what all nice friends tell each other?
You shook the thoughts from your head and the water from your hair as you stepped out, thankful that the steam had fogged up your mirror enough to obscure your reflection. You swiped a small enough section of the condensation so you could see your face to finish your morning routine of brushing your teeth and hair, then putting on some light makeup. Next was the task of finding an outfit. It might’ve been spring, but Michigan was still chilly this time of year, so you landed on some jeans that hugged your curves nicely, and a sweater that hid the parts you didn’t want on display. You paired it with your favorite boots and jewelry before grabbing your purse and heading out to meet the boys at the Kiszka’s house. You’d always used their house as a home base, seeing as three of the five of your group already lived there. Throughout high school, you and Danny practically had too, with as much as you were there. You took the familiar and short trip to their house, pausing to collect yourself in the driveway. Why were you nervous? These were your favorite people in the world. They loved you, you reminded yourself. You didn’t have much time to get lost in thought before you saw Sammy stick his head out the front door and wave wildly at you. You couldn’t help the grin that plastered your face as you got out of your car and went up to the door to greet him. “Hey stranger” he said, pulling you into a hug. “Hi Sammy, it’s good to see you. Staying in trouble, I presume?” You asked with a laugh. “Ah, Y/N, you know me too well.” He said with a wink. “C‘mon, everyone else is getting breakfast and coffee in the kitchen.” Your stomach lurched a little at the thought of breakfast. You had of course eaten with the boys before, but time away from them had also taken some of your habitual comfort around them with it. You had hated eating in front of people since getting to college. Worried that all the new people would be judging on the amount you ate. If it was too much, because of your size, if it was too little bc they thought you were starving yourself. You figured you at least have some coffee. You let Sam lead you to the kitchen, even though you’d been there a million times.
Walking in you were met with a blast from the past. The other boys were making coffee and talking and laughing, only looking up when they heard the two of you enter. You were greeted with a resounding “Y/N!!” As the boys all came to give you hugs. Danny was closest, pulling you into a bear hug and telling you he had missed you. Jake did the same, and then was Josh. You closed your eyes and breathed in the familiar scent of him, mixed with coffee. He held on tightly for an extra moment before pulling back to look you in the eyes. “Hi mama, it’s so good to see you, you look great.”
You blushed at his compliment. “Thanks, Josh, so do all of you.” You said, turning to look at the other guys, hoping that breaking your eye contact with him would will away the redness in your cheeks. “Did you eat yet, Y/N?” Jake asked innocently. “We’ve got food and coffee”.
You shifted a little nervously. “Oh I’m okay, I’ll take some coffee though.” Josh narrowed his eyes at you slightly “Are you sure? We’ve got your favorite kind of donut. Sam and Danny stopped by the shop this morning.” You chuckled nervously. “They got up early enough to do that? I’m impressed.” You tried to deflect the question with humor, but Josh saw through you. “Yes, I know, miracles aside, it’ll be a long day if you don’t eat, mama.” You internally sighed at the nickname and knew you couldn’t resist what he was asking of you. “Alright, just because you went through the trouble of getting it for me, thank you boys.” You reluctantly took the donut from Josh while he put together your coffee how you liked it. He handed you the mug when he was done and watched you take a bite of the donut. “That’s my girl,” he said quietly, smiling at you. You gave him a small smile back, but on the inside you were thinking of what other foods you’d have to cut out of your day to make up for indulging in that much sugar. You all sat in various places in the kitchen, eating and catching up on the months you’d spent apart. You told them about your classes and about people at school, they told you about the music they were working on and you made them promise to play for you when you got back from the museum.
Once you’d all finished, you headed to the boys’ van and all piled in. Jake insisted on driving, but needed Danny to navigate for him, so you, Josh, and Sam piled into the back, with Josh in the middle and you and Sam on either side of him. You had made the rule with them a long time ago that you refused to take the middle seat, joking with them that they were much scrawnier and didn’t need as much room. They could tell it made you uncomfortable, so they never pushed the issue and always made sure you had an outer seat. Your shoulder still pressed into Josh’s and you wondered if he could feel the size difference between the two of you. How one of your arms was the size of two of his combined. You pushed the thoughts from your head as the guys started playing music loudly and singing along in their signature goofy way. You couldn’t help but join in with them. “So, Y/N, any boys at school that we need to fight off?” Sam asked, leaning past Josh to look at you. You scoffed at the question. “Oh Sammy, you know there aren’t.” You tried to sound lighthearted instead of pathetic, but you weren’t sure you pulled it off. “Oh come on, Y/N, I figured they’d all be falling over themselves for your attention by now.” You rolled your eyes at this. “I appreciate the flattery, Sam, but there are much prettier girls than me at school.”
Josh had been quiet up to this point, but he broke his silence saying “I doubt that.” You looked at him, trying not to blush. You figured he was just trying to make you feel good too, but he seemed very serious. “I just think you guys have been looking at the same girls your whole life, and to be fair, there’s not much happening in Frankenmuth.” You laughed nervously, trying to pull the focus away from your appearance. “Y/N,” said Josh. “Don’t tell me that you’re smart enough to get into college, but you still don’t know how pretty you are.”
You swallowed hard. “I don’t know, I guess I just don’t think of myself that way.” You refused to meet his eyes. Josh sensed your discomfort and decided to not press any further, instead deciding to hold one of your hands in both of his, rubbing his thumb against the backs of your knuckles. You had only spoken to Josh a small handful of times about your self-image. There had been times where your insecurity had become debilitating, to the point of you trying to find excuses to not see your friends or avoiding any activities that involved swimsuits or food or anything that triggered your self-doubt. He’d been there for you in those moments, always gently encouraging and reassuring you. After a while, he leaned closer to you, whispering, “I think those boys at school are so lucky that they get to see your beauty everyday.” You squeezed his hand, saying a small thank you. You weren’t going to let your body image ruin your day of fun with your boys. You’d done that too many times in the past and you rarely got to see them anymore.
You brought the energy in the car back up by asking the boys about their music again, and they all lit up, fighting for dominance in the conversation to tell you about their different parts. You laughed and smiled along as they animatedly explained all the different songs to you that they were working on. Before long, you reached the museum. You all hopped out and went in to get your tickets. You found a map and busied yourself with figuring out where you wanted to go first when you looked up and realized that Jake, Sam, and Danny had already run off to explore, leaving you and Josh. “Well, so much for coming up with a planned route.” You giggled at Josh. “You know how they are.” He said with a laugh. “Well, Josh, what would you like to see first?” You asked him. “I know you’re a sucker for the classics, so I thought we could start there and then I really wanted to see that new statue garden they installed.” Your cheeks pinkened at his consideration for your tastes. “Sounds great.” You replied. The two of you made your way to the classical European painting section, pointing out your favorite pieces to each other, laughing at the ones that made no sense to you. It was easy being with him when you didn’t let your brain get in the way. You had to admit, as much as you’d missed the others, it was nice to have this time alone with him. You kept having to remind yourself that this wasn’t a date, but the way his eyes held just as much admiration when looking at you as they did when he looked at the art made it hard to remember. When you’d had your fill of that section, you decided to head out to the statue garden. It was absolutely stunning. There was a surprising amount of greenery, despite the Michigan temperatures and the statues were absolutely perfect. You and Josh stood side by side looking at a statue of a woman. She wasn’t real, you reminded yourself. She was sculpted out of stone, made to be perfect. You were made of flesh. Flesh was supposed to be soft and imperfect. “Why don’t you do the same pose as her? I’ll take your picture.” Josh offered with a smile. “Oh I don’t think so, she’s too perfect.” You said, tugging at the edge of your sweater. “Y/N, I think she should be the one that worried about being out done.” He said sweetly. “Josh, I’ll look huge next to her.” Your voice had gotten shaky and your eyes were threatening tears. His eyebrows knit together. “C’mere mama.” He grabbed your hand and sat you down next to him on the nearby bench. “What’s wrong, mama? I didn’t mean to upset you.” He looked at you with a worried expression. You used the sleeve of your sweater to wipe at your eyes. “I know, Josh, I’m sorry I’m being so high maintenance today. I just look at all these depictions of beautiful women and I look nothing like them. They’re all thin and perfect and I’m not.” His expression softened. “Y/N, you know those words aren’t synonymous, right? You’re so gorgeous. You don’t have to look exactly like them to be exactly as beautiful. I meant what I said earlier about those boys being lucky to see you everyday. You’re stunning.” You looked up at him through your watery lashes. “Do you really mean that? You don’t have to say stuff just to make me feel better.” He pulled your hands into his lap. “I mean it. We may be at the art museum, but I have yet to see anything more beautiful than you here.” You laughed bitterly at his words. “That can’t be true. I’m just me. And there’s too much of me. I feel so gross, Josh. I can’t stand seeing how much bigger I am than these girls and how big I am next to you. A picture would just further prove that. I just don’t wanna see it.”
“Oh mama, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel that way. That’s not at all how I see you. When I look at you, all I see is your radiant smile, your beautiful curves. I see my best friend and  I wouldn’t want there to be any less of you.” He said tenderly.
“Thank you, Josh, but I just don’t think you understand. Girls like me don’t get the guy, they don’t get the happily-ever-after that thin girls do. They aren’t noticed, or loved, or wanted. We get to be funny, we get to be used for our boobs and our ass, then we get told that we’re not good enough to be anything more than that. Being a muse is a skinny girl’s job.” You were crying by this point. Josh leaned forward and wiped a tear from your face. “Y/N, it breaks my heart that you think about yourself like that. I’m an idiot for not doing enough to make you think differently.” He said. You looked at him and smiled weakly. “It’s not your responsibility, Josh. You’re a great friend. You’ve never made me feel like that, it’s just my stupid brain and society’s stupid ideas about what I should or shouldn’t be.” He nodded before saying “Would you believe me if I told you that you are noticed, loved, and wanted?” You laughed. “Not really. Despite what you and Sammy think, there are exactly zero guys that have been begging for my attention.” Josh smiled at you. “Well, I haven’t begged yet, but if that’s what it takes, I’m willing to go there.” You were taken aback by his words. “Yes, Josh, I know you and the guys love me, but not like that. You guys are my friends, you’re like obligated to say this stuff.” He shook his head and said “Y/N, I’m telling you that I love you like that. I have for a long time. I was just too stupid to tell you. You’re the only girl I’ve had eyes for since I met you. I’m sorry that you’ve believed all this time that I couldn’t want you because of your weight. A number on a scale or a stretch mark or whatever it is that makes you think you’re unlovable doesn’t mean a damn thing to me. Because it’s never stopped me. I love you, Y/N. I want you.” Your eyes were completely wide, your breathing shaky. “Really?” You asked, still not believing your ears. “You really mean all that? You’re not saying it just to save my feelings?” He laughed at your disbelief. “Yes, mama, I thought the part about me confessing my feelings for you for years and saying I wanted you was fairly clear, but like I said, I’ll beg if I have to.” He said, holding your hands more tightly. “I’m sorry, my brain is just saying that it isn’t possible for you to possibly feel that way about me.” He tilted his head slightly “What’s so impossible is that you don’t see yourself the way I see you. I thought you always knew you were too good for me.” You laughed out loud at his words. “Too good for you? Never.” You said with a smile before continuing “I love you too, Josh.” He leaned forward and wiped another tear from your face before softly touching his lips to yours. You both sighed against each other’s mouths before you shyly pulled away. “Does that help make it feel more real?” He asked with a grin. “Yes and simultaneously no.” You laughed. “Ah, well I guess, if it’s okay with you, I’ll just have to keep doing it until you’re convinced.” He said with a shrug. You laughed and replied. “Mmm, I don’t know, I can be pretty stubborn.” He pulled you in again for a another kiss, this one a little longer. He pulled away, but held your face close to his saying “You’re seriously so gorgeous, Y/N. I’ll prove it to everyday as long as you’ll let me.” You kissed the tip of his nose and said “I think I might just let you.” He then pulled you into a hug, rubbing circles into your back. “Thank you, Josh. You’re definitely the one that’s too good for me. Thank you for being so patient with me.” He nodded into your shoulder. “You deserve it, love. I’m sorry I didn’t start sooner.” You pulled back to look at him. “You still wanna take that picture?” His eyes lit up. “You want to? You really don’t have to if it’ll make you uncomfortable, I just think you look like a Greek Goddess walking next to me.” He said sheepishly. You giggled at his words.”Okay, Adonis, come take this picture before I change my mind.” You stood up and fixed your sweater and wiped your eyes before going and mimicking the pose of the statue. And for once, you didn’t worry about sucking in your stomach, or worrying whether or not your double chin was visible. You knew that Josh would look at you like you were sculpted by the gods themselves anyway.

Hi! Here’s a pinned masterpost of all the content I’ve made for this fandom under the cut. Also I have a small tag directory of things to black/whitelist as you see fit.
#SUBMAS ANGST is for anything involving sad, potentially upsetting things. Even if it’s funny, or a shitpost. I use this liberally because I want my blog to be for any fan to enjoy!!
#SUBMAS POSITIVITY will be used for any post involving non-angsty content of the boys. Certain things like “Ingo takes care of Emmet with a cold” will still go in here, just no actual angst
#REUNION will be used to tag just that: post-PLA reunion content! Now this one is pretty positive but! Some people may want to block the tag due to the fact that it’s all noncanon and that makes them sad. Or whitelist it. Either way! Reunions will be tagged!
#PLA ERA will be for any and all content during the separation. Either Ingo or Emmet or anyone else. Ingo in Hisui content will all get this tag!
#MINORS STAY BEHIND THE YELLOW LINE is for suggestive content. Once on a very blue moon I may reblog something suggestive, but it has to be funny enough for me to do so. Wanna keep this for all ages! (I am an adult and do swear though, just a heads up.)
Also, ***no blankshippers or anyone like that***. I will block on sight, I swear. This keeps happening. GO AWAY.
Anyways! My content is under the cut :)

My pet AU is Kiyotaka and Mondo somehow out in the post-Tragedy Japan, surviving and saving people. Like either they didn't agree to stay locked in Hope's Peak for safety, or they survived the game and left with the others but didn't join Future Foundation. Major points up front, details divided into sections under the cut:
Mondo's objective would be to find his gang, and Taka's goal, besides finding his dad, would be repairing society while punishing those responsible for its destruction. But their direct task is keeping each other safe & helping victims along the way.
Mondo even stresses calling Taka "Ishimaru" instead of "bro" or his given name in front of others, so they might KNOW who's saving them. Taka caught on quick & is very grateful.
Taka would have kind of a breakdown reconciling who he is with what he has to do in a lawless world where every public moral is ignored. He keeps a small ledger of places they loot from, to compensate in the future.
At the start, Taka can only sleep burrowed against Mondo's chest or back, blocking out their damaged surroundings & pretending everything is as it was.
He cries in Mondo's arms one night after he couldn't avoid killing someone to save Mondo's life, and that's the tipping point. He thinks if he was better, stronger like his bro, he'd have noticed sooner & found a better option. Mondo is being so brave; he's Taka's rock and Taka wants to be as steady for him too. Their souls are already connected so obviously he just has to borrow more of Mondo's spirit, right?
That's how Ishida is created.
(In reality, Mondo just compartmentalizes and shoves down unhelpful feelings. You thought he needed therapy BEFORE all this, oh man-)
Ishida:
Taka ends up slipping into the Ishida facade for fight and flight; any time adrenaline kicks in and he feels he needs that boost. Sadly, that's most of their waking time. He guards Mondo and anyone they're saving like a fierce watchdog, and won't hesitate to bite.
He'll only come out of the role when he personally verifies it's safe and if Mondo can confirm it. Survivors are confused by the dual-sided Ishimaru switching right in front of them, but they're so grateful (and so much weird crap has happened) that it never phases them long.
Too many times, Ishida will go all day without a break. This means when their hideout for the night is absolutely safe, that it's okay to let go, Taka just collapses in exhaustion. But Mondo is there to catch him.
Mondo feels conflicted over the Ishida role because Taka is just a beast in it--it's very flattering and a little hot--but it also makes him worry more than before about Taka's health. He comforts Taka with a lot of praise and reassurances, and Taka sleeps lightly but otherwise fine.
Relationship: (slight mature warning)
When they touch, Taka swears he can feel the link between them flare to fuel them. Twin fires ignited. Mondo doesn't know about all that, but when their eyes meet it definitely makes him feel invincible, so, he can believe.
If they weren't already new boyfriends when The Tragedy hit, all this closeness makes sure of that soon after. Being together is their happiness and, for a while, their only link to pre-Tragedy lives. Vows not unlike marriage were exchanged one night. Where one goes, the other will follow. Anywhere. Always.
When they kiss, safe and alone, Mondo will ask what Taka wants; what he can handle that night. Sometimes it's just the kisses before passing out, sometimes it's more intimate touches to please them both after another hellish day.
Sometimes Taka will ask to be made love to, for obvious couple reasons, but also because Mondo inside him makes their tether feel stronger, more complete. Like going over the invisible line in bold marker. Taka believes any marks they can create with their mouths, any traces of themselves they can leave on or in each other, the easier they can find their bond and tap into it. (He had started a nervous habit of pressing in on lovebites to keep Ishida going when tired.)
Mondo tells him he doesn't need to find a poetic excuse for fetishes and Taka lovingly answers with a stomach punch.
Crazy Diamonds:
Mondo's gang members, the ones not dead or overcome with Despair, are slowly found and joined back up.
Any smaller and sturdier motorcycles are kept when found. If Mondo was able to keep his own in this version, it's a bit heavier than would be good for any off-roading--and much too loud for any stealth--but he refuses to part with it.
Every gang member respected Taka/Ishida the second they saw him fight beside their leader. Before Mondo says a word about him. They readily take orders from him in either form. The change in appearance was a surprise, but they're already used to some members wildly changing demeanor in or away from the gang, so it's easily accepted.
With the gang as backup to keep watch during downtime--after Ishida sized each one up and watched them for loyalty--the pair can feel a lot more relaxed. They joke about having a date in a blown-out restaurant they find, and they can finally enjoy a deep sleep.
When the group finds safehouses with more than one room, Mondo & Taka are given their privacy. Taka tries to insist everyone deserves a chance at privacy and they should rotate, but changing a gang's long-established hierarchy is a losing battle. And Mondo's not on his side because when they're alone he can be as sappy or touchy as he likes.
Legends:
Taka and Mondo save a lot of people over their journey and kinda become a legend that gets spread around and gives people Hope.
This area still needs work from me. Probably some research into Japanese myths and supernatural symbolism. A placeholder right now is something corny like "Two Men with burning eyes and thunderous voices will answer your cries for help. But if you're evil, the two will appear to you as One Demon and drag you down to the land of the dead."
There's also probably a need for costume changes since their color scheme is the same black & white of the Despair Remnants and monokumas killing people. Legend or not, it'd be easy for traumatized survivors to not know they're good guys at first.
Darker Moments: (blood, violence and vague attempted sexual assault)
After he killed a man to save Mondo, Taka luckily (he wouldn't use that word) doesn't have to again. Hurt? Yes. Beat unconscious? Yes. Maim? Yes, but some of the vile dregs of humanity are caught doing things that deserve worse--
--That deserve Mondo. Once when they were still traveling alone, a group of Remnants jumped them, managing to separate the two, and one knocked Taka out with a bad blow to the head. Mondo dispatched the others attacking him and got to Taka right as the Remnant was about to do something unforgivable.
Mondo snapped. He still doesn't remember what he did, he just remembers coming to in all the blood and dazedly picking Taka up to take him to a place he knew was safe.
Taka never finds out. He woke up a day later with a bandaged head and Mondo crying and kissing his hands. Mondo just told him he beat some and scared away the others.
Minor Details:
They try to always fight back-to-back and, to observers, seem to read each other's mind for where to move.
Taka/Ishida would use a sword or hand-to-hand. The pickaxe might just be a random pickaxe they find, if he uses it at all. Kinda hard to carry both a sword and a railroad pickaxe on your back, and I can't imagine it balances very well. (The size in official pics would be a 5lb head w/2-3lb handle.)
Mondo seems like he would use anything lying in debris to fight. Poles, pipes, chains. Aaaand maybe the knives he mentions in School Mode.
For any costume changes, Mondo would keep his jacket at least. A beacon for the Diamonds. Maybe a purple tank top, and different pants better for knife holsters. Unless the holster should wrap around his waist or hip instead?
Any changes to Taka's outfit would keep his armband. It's a reminder of his Talent and his goal to make Japan even better than before. Also wanna keep his boots or change to more rugged ones.
End Goal:
Obviously they'd end up in Towa, after the events of Ultra Despair Girls. They're reunited with Takaaki and Takemichi. Maybe they help set things right there a bit, or Makoto would get word to them about his plans vs Future Foundation's. Look at me, do I look like someone that knows how to end things?
There is no way you read all that. (I love you if you did.) But feel free to use all or any bits of it in your own works. Almost positive I'll never get to compose all this into a coherent fic format. I might update in short scenario posts under a 'Tragedy-survivor au' tag if I think of anything.
If you have a question or want something expanded upon, ask away.

Wheelz
Tumblr media
I am participating in @wackydrabbles a picture is worth a 1000 words task.
Tumblr media
Original Post Date: 06/14/21 at 12:20AM. EST.
A/N: For me, I am turning this building into a place called Wheelz, the last roller skating rink in Ruby Valley, where Riley and Taylor are going celebrate their birthday at with all the people they invited to their party.  It’s very similar to a roller rink I went to growing up.  I know, I know... showing my age.
This is part of my School Dayz AU, to catch up on what you have been missing please check out School Dayz.
The Book: TRR
Pairing: Liam x Riley (the beginning)
Warnings: None
Word Count: 996
Rating: He who has eyes, let them read.  Errybody, no restrictions here.  More fluff.
Summary:  Riley’s parents buy out Wheelz a local roller skating rink for the evening for Riley and Taylor’s Birthday.
Riley, Liam, Leo, Drake, and Hana belong to Pixelberry, all others are my own characters to tell our story.
Song Inspiration for this episode:  Celebrate Good Times (Come On) by Kool & The Gang
I don’t own rights to the music.
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe Mom and Dad really did this.”
“They want us to make some friends Riley.  So how do you make friends?  You invite them to a party.  Our party.”
Riley stood with Taylor at lunch.
“Rye for crying out loud can you at least try to smile, you’re making our face look sour, and we’re cute twins.”
Tumblr media
Riley’s face turned into somewhat of a grimace.  She felt herself go to poke the bridge of her glasses, but she had broken them.
“You can’t hide behind your glasses anymore Rye.  You take that side. I'll take the other. We can’t get into the lunch line until we pass out all these invitations.”  They both had fifty to pass out to classmates.
Taylor bounded off to a table smiling at the group of guys.
Tumblr media
Riley begrudgingly headed off in the opposite direction.  She calmed when she saw Liam.
“Hi Liam!”
Liam, who had just taken a huge gulp, choked on his chocolate milk.  The others sitting with him roared in laughter.
“Riley,”  he croaked when he finally spoke.
“So you’re the girl he almost killed with a volleyball in P.E.”
“That’s me.”
“Would you guys like to come to my party this weekend?”
They all looked at Riley shocked.
Tumblr media
“You’re inviting us?”
“Yeah, why not?”
“No one asks us to parties.”
“Well you’re asked now.  I’ll see you there. It’s my birthday.” Riley handed them each an invitation.
Riley had managed to pass out all her invitations but four, and she saw a table of jocks, without envelopes on their table.
She sheepishly walked up to the table, tripping over her own feet, almost face planting.
Three of the guys burst out laughing.
Tumblr media
The other one, with kind brown eyes, she felt like she knew, asked her if she was alright.
“Did they put something in your juice box?” One guy asked.
“Hey cut it out. What’s your name?”
“Riley.”
“I’m Leo.”
“Are you Liam’s brother?”
“Yes, he’s my little brother.”
“I have classes with him. He’s nice.”
“I’ll tell you a little secret, I taught him everything he knows.”
“So you taught him his killer volleyball serve?”
“That was you?!?!?!”
Tumblr media
Riley pointed to the flesh colored band aid on her forehead.
Leo laughed.  “My bad.”
“So I’m having a party this weekend.  And you’re invited.”
She passed out the last of her envelopes.
“Wheelz? Isn’t that the skating rink?”
“Man I haven’t been to Wheelz in forever.” Leo commented. “Who’s Taylor?”
“My twin sister.”
Tumblr media
“So you’re one half of double trouble?”
“Seems like it?”
“Well I’m sold! We’ll be there.”
Taylor ran up to her throwing her arms around Riley.
“Did you pass them all out?”
“Yes Mom I did.”
“Great, we’ll see you guys at our party.”
Tumblr media
“Hey it’s the other half of double trouble.”
“You better believe it.”
As they walked away,  one of the guys mumbled.
“We’re really going to their party?”
“The awkward one reminds me of Liam.  I couldn’t say no to her. Besides, Wheelz has decent food.”
SATURDAY
Taylor insisted on helping Riley get ready for the party.
Taylor had dressed Riley in one of her outfits, and had done her makeup.  They truly looked alike.
Tumblr media
The difference between the two was Riley didn’t have her ears pierced and Taylor did.
“You two look so beautiful!  This is going to be a fun night. Jai after you pick up your friend, take them to Wheelz. We’re going to go now to finish setting up.”
“Alright Mom.”
They drove to a restaurant  called Pop’s Place, where a girl came running out.
When she hopped into the passenger seat of his jeep, Jaiden closed the door and got back in.
“Riley, and Taylor, this is Bebe, my girlfriend. Bee, this is Riley and Taylor, my sisters.”
“Don’t waste any time, do you Jai?”
Jai smiled, taking her hand.  “When you know, you know.”
The Party
Wheelz was packed.
The scrolling marquee on the outside said Happy Birthday Taylor and Riley.
Bubbles and confetti filled the air and floated on the ground.
Tumblr media
“This is actually pretty cool.”  Taylor glanced around the room. There were bubbles in the air.
They were fitted for their lighted skates.  Something Wheelz had a tradition of doing for anyone celebrating a birthday.
Tumblr media
Liam showed up shortly with Leo and Liam’s friends.  Riley walked over to the group.
“Happy birthday! Again!” Liam’s voice cracked as he spoke.  He pointed the confetti cannon into her direction.
Nothing happened.
“You said you were supposed to press the button right Leo?”
“Yeah that’s generally how it works.”
Riley stepped closer.  “Maybe if you….”
The cannon went off in Riley’s face, sending confetti everywhere.
Tumblr media
Leo shook his head.
Riley coughed from all the confetti being blown into her face.
“I’m sooooo sorry Riley.”
“If I didn’t know it any better, I’d really think you were trying to kill me Liam Rys.”
“I promise you I’m not!!!”  Liam’s face was bright red.
“Did you teach him that too Leo?”
Leo chuckled.  “Guilty. None of Liam’s awkward behavior is his fault, it’s all me.  So don’t hold it against him.”
Out on the rink, Taylor showed her skills.
Tumblr media
Riley, on the other hand showed how long it had been since she was on a pair of skates.
Tumblr media
Liam surprisingly was great on skates.  He skated over to Riley, holding out his hand to her.
“Did you hurt yourself?”
“I’m fine.”
“Hold my hand,  I won’t let you fall again.”
Tumblr media
Riley held Liam’s hand the rest of the night…. Even when they weren’t skating.
When the party was over and it was time to go Riley felt a wave of boldness.  She kissed Liam’s cheek.
“Thank you for coming to my party.”
“Thank you for kissing me.  Did I say that out loud?”
She nodded.   “You’re welcome.”
Leo threw his arm around Liam.  “C’mon Romeo.  I had fun! See you later Riley.”
As Liam walked away, she noticed he was still holding his left cheek, the cheek she kissed him on.

Dad!BC AU - before and after
Because I’m feeling so soft tonight, I wanna share my thoughts on the guys before and after they become dads. Everyone knows that kids change people, but sometimes the change is nice and wholesome.
I blame Joel and his sentimental edgy ass for that post on Instagram earlier.
(Under the read-more for length)
As the first dad of the group, Joonas was terrified of what the change would bring for him and Kirsten. He knew he would make his mistakes and he dreaded the day they would come. He was afraid that he was too immature to be a father - he read the comments online about him as a punk, about his Danish girlfriend who could barely read the hate comments written about her, and about their baby and how so many people “wished the poor girl luck” in dealing with a childish father like him. On top of that, Kirsten’s parents were begging her to leave Finland and him so they could help raise Sohvi because they thought they could do a better job than him. He was motivated to become the best dad he could be to prove them all wrong, but also to give his daughter the best life she deserved. He admits to his mistakes in the early days of fatherhood - he knows he should have been kinder to Kirsten when she was struggling mentally as a new mom.
Years later, with their third child on the way, the first two are a little bit older and they adore the hell out of their dad. Sohvi loves music like him and unapologetically stands her ground on the things she believes in. Lukas is a cannonball of a personality who loves the ice and playing hockey as much as his cousin Enkka. And the youngest of the Porkos, Jakob (aka “Jaska”) grows up to enjoy the softer things in life - reading, baking, knitting, and cuddling on a lazy day. Even through his busy schedule, he makes time to make memories with each of them in a way that matters to them - jamming out with Sohvi, skating with Lukas, and reading bedtime stories to Jaska. They all take his punk attitude, the very thing that many people used to discount his abilities to raise one child, let alone three. His family is perfect, and he realizes now that he had nothing to fear when he held his daughter for the first time.
--
Joel had never given the thought of a family of his own much consideration. He was too busy being a rock star and conquering the world, and he was afraid of what the change after having a kid would look like for him. He wanted to be happy for Joonas when he told the group in Rotterdam that he was going to be a dad, but he was afraid of losing his best friend to an uncertain future. He grew to love his niece, after some time and a little bit of effort on his part, but he still thought they just weren’t for him.
When he went out on a blind date with Emilia Peltonen months later, he wasn’t expecting it to go anywhere from there. But she gave him a second chance, and a third, and so on, until they were finally living together. Milli finally asked him what he thought of the idea of having kids, and he thought he needed “some time” to think on it. It took him all of about 12 hours to make up his mind, but they waited almost a full year before they were finally successful. In that time, he asked her to marry him, regardless of whether a baby would even come along. Still, he had his doubts about his own abilities to give his son a happy life - he was impatient and snappy, his mental health would fall apart some days, he was never the most affectionate person. And yet, none of that matters to little Viktor; Joel is his idol and, in his mind, he’s the coolest guy on Earth and he wants to be just like him someday. He teaches Enkka to skate and fosters his love for hockey and music. When Enkka needs a hug, either when he’s sleepy or he just woke up from a bad dream, he knows his dad will be there to catch him. So many people love to see that he went from being a dark edgelord online with a pessimistic sense of humor, to being the best dad and husband of their group whose public presence is covered with the signs of his pride in his family. Joel’s transformation surprised so many people, but the change was a welcome sight.
--
(TW: mention of miscarriage)
Niko wanted to be a dad from the beginning. When he dated Jenna in high school, the hopeless romantic in him dreamed of their little family and the future they would build together. He was devastated when they went their separate ways, thanks to their very different paths in life. He gave up on his dream of their little ones, until they crossed paths again. He knew he would be a fool to give up his second chance. He was overjoyed to learn that Jenna was pregnant with their first child; unlike the first two dads, he had no fears in the back of his mind that he would be a good one. As soon as he stepped into his house, he turned off the rock star Niko the world sees, and became Leevi’s dad and Jenna’s husband with every ounce of his being.
They made a promise to each other: when Leevi says his first word, it’s time for baby number two. Blissfully unaware of his parents’ plan to give him a sibling, Leevi watched Rommi walk by and blurted out his first word: kissa! Within two months, they were expecting their daughter to round out their little family. Lahja Rose was born the next February, two weeks past her original due date. Her father was a little heartbroken - she was supposed to be born on his birthday, hence the name Lahja (“gift”). But he was happy to finally have his little Rose to pay tribute to his favorite film (even if people made their fair share of jokes about it). They hit their first real snag as a family when, between 6 and 11 months, Lahja lived with on/off inner ear infections. Her parents did everything they could to help relieve her pain, eventually opting for surgery to fix it. Niko was a wreck for the full five months, refusing to leave his family’s side and being more than willing to fight anyone who disrespected his decision to have privacy with his family. Niko helped Jenna through the painful process of losing what would have been their third child. They mourned, they healed, and they decided that they were at peace just having their two.
--
Olli wanted to be a dad, but he was terrified when he learned he had two on the way. Kaarina wanted to laugh at his adorkable response to the news - “count them again” - but she knew his fears were valid. She’d known this man since they were children, and his response to the news was typical of him as an anxious mess under his cool and seemingly collected personality. Her fears were the same; after all, she had no idea what changes were to come for her health. But both girls had a hold on his heart long before they were even born. Olli was willing to do anything to make Riina and the twins feel comfortable until their arrival a week before Christmas. The moment Elina was placed in his arms and he saw the way Elisabet fit in Riina’s, he wondered where those fears even belonged now.
Well... just a little more than three months later, when he was convinced he’d gotten his wife pregnant again, Olli was rightfully scared shitless. He loved his girls, but he couldn’t have three kids before the first two even celebrated their first birthday. Having narrowly dodged that nightmare, he took all the next steps to ensure that it never happened again. He was happy with his two, and so was Riina. The Matelas spend their summers at their beach home, the twins developing as much of a love for the ocean as him. They wear the best coordinated outfits - but not matching though, Olli and Riina want them to maintain their own personality outside of being twins. He’s more than happy to let them put a tiara on him and invite him to their “garden tea party” in their shared room. It was tough at first, but he soon became a master of carrying one in each arm while they felt tall and safe with him. But he can be a bit strict with them sometimes; he loves them, but he doesn’t want them to follow in his footsteps as a rock star. He knows it can be difficult and fun, but he doesn’t want his daughters to fall victim to the lifestyle. And yet, Elisabet was determined to forge her own path in music, while Elina took to the ice like Lukas and Enkka as a figure skater. There was no use in trying to stifle their dreams. Olli’s proud of his girls, and he’s always wanted them to be happy.
--
Tommi’s family came pre-started. He was introduced to Marja Oksanen, a single mom to a young son who escaped a dangerous relationship with the father of her child. She was afraid that learning about her son would drive him away, that he wouldn’t bother with a single mom if she couldn’t put their relationship first. But Tommi loved this woman already, and someday he was sure he would love her son. He had his reasons to be wary around the boy since he’d never had a father figure in his life (outside of his Uncle Niko for the year or so that Marja and Miikka lived with him and Jenna). He let Miikka accept him first, and he waited for his cue before he grew into his role as his step-dad.
He readily agreed when Marja asked him if he wanted a baby with her (or “another cub” to fit the bear theme they adopted for their family). Tommi would have been happy to have several cubs with her. But when her pregnancy with Anna left her on constant bed rest and their daughter was born a month earlier than she should have, he couldn’t put her through that stress again. Marja’s health mattered more than the thought of a large family. Besides, he was more than happy with “Baby Bear” (Miikka) and “Cub” (Anna), because despite the fact that Miikka was not his son by birth, he was his son by love. And he was willing to defend that from anyone who dares to insult their family dynamic. Tommi is a master of being a dad; his energy calms both kids down when they’re stressed or in need of some love and understanding. It’s not an uncommon sight to see him with one on either side of him as the three of them relax in his recliner. So many people know Tommi as a man with a tough exterior, who doesn’t let his emotions show, doesn’t talk much, and doesn’t garner much attention in a room. But Tommi with his children is a different person altogether. He shares a side of him that belongs to his family.
--
As the last to become a dad, Aleksi had a wealth of experience to rely on when he needed help with his son. He made the difficult decision to voluntarily become a single dad when his ex-girlfriend Laila expressed zero desire to become a mother. He endured so much stress and heartache in the process, from Laila dragging him in the media over his decision to announce the pregnancy to being banned from Noah’s birth altogether. He first laid eyes on Noah when he was just under an hour old, having only been held by the nurses who prepared him to meet his father. He spared no expense in spending two nights in the hospital with him in a suite, even when Laila had long checked out and left without saying goodbye to either of them.
He felt a twinge of shame when he accepted help from Joonas in taking care of his son. He wanted to do it by himself and prove that he could be a good dad alone. But having a village of friends behind him helped ease him into everything that fatherhood would throw at him. When Noah is diagnosed on the autism spectrum when he’s three, Aleksi immediately learns everything he can to understand his son better. He becomes his biggest defender when people try to push him out of his comfort zone, telling him that they can respect his decision to wear his noise-cancelling headphones when he needs them or they can leave both of them alone. He learns sign language to communicate with Noah whenever he goes mute and he shows solidarity when Noah stims in public. He stays out of the dating scene for years to stop a revolving door of strangers from coming around his son who is shy around new people and lives with separation anxiety from losing his mother at a young age. But Hanna Laaksonen was the perfect exception, as a child psychologist with a Master’s degree in early childhood development. The rest of his friends watched as Aleksi fell in love with her and as Noah began to call her Mom. Still, Aleksi always put Noah first, the same as he always had, and Hanna respected that fact.

In Secret
Ship(s): Romantic Dukexiety
Words: 1213
Warning(s): Kissing, some cursing
AU(s): Human, teenagers, royalty
Notes: Fluffuary day 10, let’s go! Based off #8 and 12 of this post. Have some Dukexiety, my friends!
Summary: Virgil is reunited with his secret boyfriend, Remus, prince of the neighboring kingdom.
Virgil swept his hair to one side in the mirror. He was fairly certain he wouldn't be able to make himself look nice, at least, not what he considered nice. With his parent's rules, it wasn't like he could dress in the oversized coats and dresses he wanted. Then again, he was a prince, so he supposed it wasn't really his parents' fault, either.
Today was an important day. The neighboring kingdom's royal family was paying a visit, which was a momentous occasion on its own, but it just so happened to be the royal family who's youngest son, Remus, Virgil was dating.
Their parents didn't know, of course. Virgil, as the heir to the throne, was expected to marry a princess and have a male child with her to be the next king.
However, Virgil was very, very gay.
And so were the twins of the other kingdom, one of which Remus was. The other, Roman, was the elder—He was in the same predicament as Virgil, only with another lover. Remus, on the other hand, was forever ignored—both a blessing and a curse, at least in Virgil's eyes—and would likely be allowed to marry who he liked.
But the twins were coming today, which Virgil was both excited and terrified for. It was going to be hard to not kiss Remus as soon as he saw him, and he knew it'd be even harder for the impulsive boy who was visiting not to do the same of Virgil.
A knock sounded on Virgil's door. "You ready?"
Virgil sighed, looking at himself in the mirror and brushing his hair back the way he knew his mother would want it, not swept to the side like he liked it. "Yes, Mother."
The door opened and Virgil's mother, the Queen, walked in, scrutinizing his outfit. Virgil scrunched up his face as she did so, finally relaxing when she nodded in approval with a simple "good."
She led him out of the palace to the front of the castle, where Virgil's father and a carriage were waiting.
The King was already speaking with the Queen of the neighboring land. Roman stood next to his mother, speaking with Virgil's dad, while Remus was leaned up against the carriage with arms crossed. Virgil thought that summed up the difference between the two of them fairly well.
Remus's expression lightened when he saw Virgil, though, eyes widening and mouth turning up in a smile Virgil loved more than the stars. He waved, beckoning Virgil closer, and Virgil laughed to himself slightly before freezing with the realization that his mother was still beside him.
"Go," his mother said. "Your friendship with the boy is good for the kingdom."
Virgil pursed his lips, knowing that his relationship with Remus was anything but friendship. "Thanks, Mom."
"Mother," she corrected.
"Thanks, Mother," Virgil agreed without any thought put into the response. He was far to focused on Remus to think of anything else, even his mother's cold remarks. She's granted him permission to be with Remus and, by God, was he going to make good use of that time.
When he reached the carriage, he expected Remus to do something wild. At the very least, he'd expected to be tackled in a hug. Instead, he was gifted with Remus taking Virgil's hand in both of his own and raising it to his mouth, gently kissing it and making Virgil flush bright red.
"Stop, Remus, you'll make our parents suspicious—"
"They don't give a damn if I kiss your hand," Remus insisted. "Don't worry, sugar cube. They think I'm just messing around. Boys will be boys, all that shit."
Virgil frowned. "I don't think the saying 'boys will be boys' is referring to boys kissing other boys' hands."
"Well, it is now!" Remus said, grabbing Virgil's arm and tugging him along as Remus began running.
Virgil sputtered but didn't fight Remus. "Wait! Where are we going?"
"To the gardens! Roman promised me he'd distract the adults so we could get away."
"Roman agreed to cover for you? Really?"
"I have to cover for him next time we visit his boyfriend, but yeah, he did. Also, he thinks you're good for me."
"I am good for you."
Remus laughed at that, turning around and slowing their pace to squish Virgil's cheeks. "You think you're so composed, it's adorable."
"What? I am composed, dumbass."
Remus leaned in and kissed Virgil's cheek, leaving him red-faced and inarticulate. "How composed are you now?"
"N-not f—Not fair!"
Remus grinned his widest grin. "Plenty fair. You liked it, didn't you?"
"Sh-shut up," Virgil muttered, hiding his face in Remus's shoulder.
"Mm, we'd better go somewhere before someone sees you blushing and hugging me."
"You're the one who keeps kissing me!" Virgil argued, leaning away from Remus to fake a glare in his direction.
"Only your cheek and hand," Remus protested. "We'll get to the real kissing later," he added with a wink, making Virgil's face heat up once more.
"Well, let's just get going," Virgil said, trying to get them out of there.
Remus cracked a grin as he began walking just ahead of Virgil, facing backwards so he could still see him. "Eager, hm?"
Virgil rolled his eyes. "Yes, is it so hard to believe I want to catch up with my boyfriend?"
"And make out with him."
Virgil sighed, but he couldn't stop a grin from forming. "And make out with him. Yes, is it so hard to believe I want that?"
Remus's grin turned lopsided. "Hm, maybe not."
Virgil flushed again and hid his face in his hands. "Why are so so good at making me blush? You have no right—"
"On the contrary," Remus said, reaching out to touch Virgil's cheek, and Virgil couldn't help but lean into it, "I have every right."
Virgil turned away, red rising up his neck. "S-see? There you g-go again."
Remus chuckled, grabbing one of Virgil's hands to hold. "You just blush easy. Oh, and you're also in love with me."
Virgil hid his face in Remus's shoulder again. "Shut up!"
Remus laughed and used the hand to tug Virgil off into a corner of the castle that Virgil hadn't even known was there. "Hey, Virge?"
Virgil tilted his head, though he already knew what Remus was going to ask. "Hm?"
Remus cupped Virgil's face in his hands. "Can I kiss you?"
Virgil answered by standing on his tiptoes and kissing Remus himself, letting his arms wrap around his neck and pull Remus down to his own height so his feet could relax. Remus kissed back slowly, making Virgil want to cry with happiness. God, he'd missed this feeling.
When he ran out of breath, he gently pulled away, looking up and seeing Remus's face was bright red. He laughed at that. "Look who's blushing now, hm, Re?"
Remus blushed more at that. "Shut up, you little gremlin."
Virgil smirked. "I'm your little gremlin." He leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to Remus's once more before slowly pulling away.
"I missed your kisses," Remus murmured.
Virgil laughed and buried his face in Remus's shoulder, feeling arms wrap around his back and smiling at the sensation. "I missed your kisses, too."

The Prom: Jurdan High School au Chapter 8
Fandom: TFOTA
Warnings: None
Summary: Jude and Cardan have hated each other but were forced to work together let's see how this story ends.
A/N: hiiii this is the last chapter of this fic and im sm happy that ya'll liked it! enjoy!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter: 8 Jude's POV
"You're nothing. You'll be nothing." A sweet voice echoed. I stared into darkness and it stared back to me.
"You're a fool and undeserving of everything," I knew that voice. Cardan.
"Did you really think he can actually love you?" This was Nicasia's.
Then came Valerian's, "No body will ever love you. No one can."
Then the voices started speaking at the same time but I still stared into darkness. I even heard my own twin, "You can't blame people. I have always been the one that everyone wants and you're the one who repels them." I put my hands on my ears but it continued. I was going mad.
I woke up screaming and crying for anyone to just come and hold me for an eternity.
Vivi barged into my room and quickly hugged me, whispering things to calm me down. I calmed down and last night's events came rushing into my mind, "I hate him," is all I whispered.
"I know. Don't think about him he's a jerk. Now c'mon, freshen up. I have made your favorite chocolate pancakes." She gave me an encouraging smile and I nodded grimly.
I went to the bathroom and saw my reflection. A ghost. I looked like a ghost. All make-up smudged, mascara on my cheeks as a result of now-dried tears. However, my lipstick remained the same.
I took a bath as quickly as I could, not wanting to think about last night but failed.
I went downstairs and sat at the dining table. Vivi made me chocolate pancakes as promised and told me that Taryn stayed overnight with Locke. I looked at the clock which showed it was 12:30 pm. Oak was probably off to school.
"I'll be going to pick Oak in an hour and we can do something fun. I don't want you to sit here and sulk around. I hate seeing you like this." I nodded nonchalantly.
After an hour, we left to pick up Oak and then do something 'fun'. Vivi made me wear a floral short jumpsuit. However, I refused to apply any make-up.
We picked up Oak and Vivi thought it would be really entertaining that we should go to a flower a grove. "Really? What will you have in a flower grove?" It was the first time I spoke since we left. "You'll see," why the hell did she wink?
I scowled but didn't stop her. When we reached the flower grove and Vivi asked me, "Hey Jude, can you bring snacks from that stall?" She pointed at a particular stall in front of the grove where a man sold candies mostly. I obliged her and they disappeared inside.
While buying candies, I noticed not a single soul was here today. What was happening?
As I entered the grove, I saw no-one there. Not even Vivi and Oak. Instead I noticed the grove was particularly decorated with jasmines and red roses and fairy lights hung from tree to tree. It looked ethereal and matched with my outfit.
"Vivi? Oak?" I called out but no response came. I saw a shadow of someone emerging from the opposite direction.
My heart stopped at the mere sight of him.
My vision blurred even though we were just staring at each other and my heart was beating so fast I feared he might be able to hear it.
"Jude," he took a step forward and I took a step backwards, "Hey, I can explain. Please let me then you can decide what you want. But just hear me out once," his eyes had bags as if he didn't sleep last night. I wanted to slap him but I also wanted to hear him out. I chose the latter and found some courage to nod.
He begin, "The video you saw was of last year's Prom. I wore the same coloured tux because you know I like black. I assume you also know Nicasia and I dated last year," another step forward," she must have asked Valerian to record it as a 'memory' in her words. Now that everyone knows we're dating she must have seen her chance and made a plan with Valerian. It was Valerian who sent you the video and all this is because of them. I know you won't believe me but just see this," we only had a few inches between us. He opened Instagram on his mobile and showed me what Nicasia wore last night.
It was true. Everything was different, the make-up, the outfit even the hairstyle was.
He continued, however, not seemed to to notice my shock, "I love you Jude," I looked at him in disbelief and realized I had started crying. The bag of candies fell from my hands and he repeated, "I love you."
This time I hugged him fiercely, crying in his chest. He placed his hands on the small of my back and kissed at the top of my head.
When I stopped, I moved back. He was about say something but I slapped him hard and said, "For bullying me," and then kissed him equally hard before saying, "For loving me,"
He broke the kiss and I saw tears had formed in his eyes as well, "I will never ever hurt you again. I promise. I love you Jude," my heart melted at that and I whispered back, "I love you too Cardan. I love you too," He pressed his forehead against mine and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Just so you know, Valerian has a black eye and is probably missing one or two teeth," I chuckled at that, "And I told Nicasia if she tried anything else in the future it won't be me but you giving her a punch," I laughed wholly at that.
"I see the the lovebirds have finally reconciled," We turned in unison to see Vivi and Oak approaching us.
Oak exclaimed, "You two are dating! Vivi was right!" to which Vivi started an argument with him and I only half heard them.
I turned to Cardan and said, "Let's make a promise. Whatever happens in the future we'll go through it together." He smiled and muttered, "I promise," and I murmured back, " I promise too."
We sealed the promise with a deep, passionate kiss.

sorry for the long post im on mobile at work and have no idea how to put a readmore but. rambling musings on my characters re endwalker because im doing traffic control at work which mostly means standing around on my phone waiting for a car to leave this carpark so i can go hold up a stop sigh. for a minute to let it leave. its boring as hellll
but anyway im like. so off the shits from endwalker rn for multiple reasons. ive been developing niuwyb more and more as a proper wol... i made her partially as a joke bc i played thru msq as roeh (who id already written as a non-wol oc and was really happy with her story) and was having trouble envisioning any wol id create as terribly different lmao. the wol was a sea wolf roegadyn warrior to me... so i made niuwyb as a clone/twin au thing and ended up liking my self indulgent idea so much i kept her. and now im super invested in her as her own character... endwalker has me like. constantly thinking about her life with the other scions like. its so nice for her to have the scions as almost her own little family... roeh brought niuwyb into her family when they met for the first time and found out what was going on and the two are sisters that have a close relationship but i think that the scions are always going to be really close to her heart no matter what.... i just really enjoy thinking about those moments between all the big events that they have to deal with in msq. just sharing a meal together. or hanging out. after everything that happened i want them all to be happy... i almost think its a shame that they all left the rising stones but i want everyone to meet up again regularly u know. not as coworkers or people with similar goals but as friends and family...
and!! i wanna include some of my non-wol ocs in that too... sandrine and sonje were in this really weird place during shb (partially bc i was still developing their story) but i think endwalker is a really good point to cement the trio of sandrine sonje and ysayle as scions... one cause i always thought ysayle shoulda become a scion this whole time fr so im gonna imagine it. i would design her a scion outfit but my design principles are so not final fantasy it would be out of place lol. but theres no way niuwyb and the other scions wouldnt offer her a place with them as soon as they found out she survived lol
two i think sonje is in this sort of similar place as estinien kind of?? certainly not exactly of course but theres some parallels and i think that if they werent both socially inept they could probably talk about it. like sonje helped to liberate ala mhigo from the garleans and worked on rebuilding and returning peace to the place she grew up. but she had been gone for so long and lived so much more life and formed so many other attachments that staying there just... wasnt where she wanted to be anymore?? her place was with sandrine and ysayle now. and i think her joining the scions with both of them is like. they are her home now...
sandrine is actually the most fun to think about in regards to endwalker because shes so spiteful to sharlayan for both the new sharlayan exodus as well as them not doing anything to help when she was pursued by the temple knights on charges of heresy because of her studies in sharlayan... her mother died for that and its a wound that runs deep... she magically hid her archon tattoos for so long out of spite. i think that coming to old sharlayan would be very difficult for her, but with hydaelyn's power waning and sandrine's visions with it, she doesnt have a charted path and decides to rely on the scions for a way forward... shes still like fuck them sharlayans and fuck the forum tho. person that would get along splendidly with matoya. but i do want her to be able to form some semblance of peace with sharlayan as she did with ishgard after the dragonsong war. not forgiveness but a nod of acknowledgement that things are being set right finally. also thatd make 2/3 countries she has beef with. which means next expac its time for gridania to pay reparations to the duskwight lmaoooo
oh man this post is so long now help im just gonna stop it here before i go even deeper into rambling

Part 2 | Part 4
Tumblr media
“Happy birthday, Kaori-chan!” you say with a big smile on your face as you hugged the birthday girl. Pulling away, you gawked at how stunning Kaori looks. Being a fashion designer student definitely screams with the outfit she was wearing. You were amazed when Kaori told you she made the dress herself. Atsumu greeted with a friendly hug.
“Thank you so much, (Y/n)-chan and Atsumu! Come on, let’s take some photos” says Kaori as she whisked you away from Atsumu’s side. Atsumu smiles as he saw his teammate since high school, Suna Rintarou.
“Are Kita and the others coming?” asks Atsumu as he hands in yours and the twins’ birthday gifts for Kaori. Suna receives it and places it on the table at the corner full with the rest of the gifts.
“Kaori-chan haven’t met them yet except for Aran so he’s the one she invited.” Suna looks at Atsumu then you then back at the setter, a puzzled expression on his face.
“How come (Y/N)-chan came with you and not Nakamura-san?”
“Well about that. They broke up, Suna.”
“Well that’s troublesome. Kaori also invited Nakamura-kun” says Suna as he leans onto the wall, the two men looking at you and Kaori taking photos with the cake and taking selfies.
“What?! What are we gonna do?!” exclaims Atsumu in a low voice, only for Suna to hear and him starting to panic. Moments later, more guests started to arrive. Atsumu felt relief wash through his body as he saw Aran coming into view.
“Aran-kun ya!” Atsumu runs up to his former teammate and jumps on him.
“Wha- get off of me, Atsumu!” Aran just wanted to enjoy this night with his friends, not being tired out by Atsumu’s antics as he had enough of dealing with twins for years. Aran knows the twins since they were around ten, making him the instruction manual of the Miya twins as he knows them extremely well.
“Aran-kun, ya gotta help me.”
“With what?”
Looking around cautiously, Atsumu then gestures for Aran to lean in closer. As Atsumu was about to speak, Suna interrupts the both of them.
“(Y/n)-chan and Nakamura-san broke up and Atsumu doesn’t want to make (Y/n)-chan feel uncomfortable when he comes over” says Suna as the three men were outside the restaurant to avoid the crowd.
“What? How is (Y/n)-san coping with the break up?” says Aran with a worried expression. You and Aran were pretty close back then when you were still Inarizaki’s manager. The two of you bonded because of the Miya twins. He was the person you would always run to whenever the twins have a fight that you can’t seem to break them apart yourself. Other than that, you’ve always found Aran as a mature, kind and soft person.
“That’s the problem! I don’t know how she’s doing because she won’t tell me!”
“Have you asked her though?” Atsumu remains silent at Suna’s retort.
“Boke!” says Aran as he flicks Atsumu’s forehead, making the golden haired setter groan in pain.
“Does she even know that you knew about the break up?”
“No and please no more flicking!” says Atsumu as he protectively covers his forehead, not wanting to get a flick from Aran. The former ace sighs and ran a hand over his face in frustration.
“Where is Osamu anyway?”
“At home...studying for an important test.”
“Okay, here’s what we’re gonna do. Let’s pretend like we didn’t have this conversation. When Nakamura does come, we’ll make sure he doesn’t try anything. That guy is kind of mischievous sometimes” says Aran as the three of them were huddled in a small circle, making sure not anyone was hearing their conversation.
“And what if he does try something, what shall we do?”
Aran flicks Atsumu’s forehead again, “do I have to lay everything out for you? I swear you are a genius in the court but you’re such an airhead when it comes to these things.”
“It’s not much of a surprise. When it comes to (Y/n)-san, he becomes the world’s biggest idiot.” Atsumu sends Suna a sharp look to which Suna smirked with pleasure upon seeing Atsumu’s reaction.
“What are ya even talking about?!”
“Oh you know what I’m talking about. You’re still trying to deny it, huh?” says Suna. Atsumu grabbed Suna’s collar, trying to threaten him.
“Listen here ya racoon-”
“Come on Atsumu don’t deny it. We know you’ve liked (Y/n)-chan since the day you asked her to be our manager.”
“No I don’t!”
“Really now?”
“Are you two seriously gonna fight?” Aran says as he try to break apart the two.
Atsumu releases his grip from Suna’s collar, the said man who still had an amused look on his face. Suna can’t help in butting into Atsumu’s business. He just wants his friend to accept his feelings. He could still remember the time when Atsumu found out you were dating Nakamura. The setter was devastated. He spent his time practicing longer by doing his spike serves which were much more powerful that Atsumu actually got one ball lose air. It was obvious during their practices when Atsumu would give Nakamura a hard time during your first few weeks of dating but as time passes by, the more defeated Atsumu became when it comes to you.
“What are you boys doing out here? The party’s about to start.” The three men’s eyes landed on you by the door of the restaurant. Your face brightens upon seeing Aran. A big smile made its way to your face and you quickly ran up to him with Aran welcoming you in for a hug.
“Ojiro-san! What a nice surprise” you say as you pulled away. Aran peers down at you with a warm smile on his face as if they were not discussing something related to you earlier.
“It’s nice see you again, (Y/n)-chan. It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
“It has! Let’s catch up inside. We don’t want to worry the birthday girl” you say and headed to the restaurant. The three boys looked at each other with knowing looks. There’s a mission they need fulfill.
To them, you are still their precious manager and long time friend.
Tumblr media
The party began in full swing. It started with taking photos. Eating delicious meals and it then transitioned to blowing of the birthday cake. Everyone was enjoying every moment. You also got to talk to other girls that Kaori invited from her major. They were all gorgeous and you can’t help but feel a little insecure. Tall and petite. You’ve been surrounded by boys mostly in your teens due to you managing the men’s volleyball club.
The guys and girls seemed to have their own little world. The guys were in another corner, just chatting and drink some alcohol while you and the girls were on a different table, gossiping and getting to know each other.
“I’m really excited for our upcoming fashion show, Kaori-chan! I’m a bit jealous with the theme you got but I’m sure you’ll do it justice” says Shioko excitedly. You were a bit out of place. Kaori and her friends were talking about their upcoming projects together. One of Kaori’s friends noticed how uncomfortable you were so she converses with you but not the intention you expected.
“Hey, (Y/n)-san I heard that you’re pretty close with that blonde guy over there?” asks Miyake with a flirty smile on her face as she points her wine glass at Atsumu who was enjoying his time talking to his former teammates.
“Uhm yes why?”
“Are you two dating?” asks Miyake with a smile.
“No they aren’t. (Y/n)-chan here actually has a boyfriend but it seems that he’s running late. Do you know why, (Y/n)-chan?” says Kaori with a bright smile on her face but your mood suddenly shifts but you forced a smile. The other girls started to perk up their interest in you as they heard you have a boyfriend.
“He says something came up but I’m sure he’ll come.” You say, scratching your neck, feeling uncomfortable as the attention was suddenly shifted to you.
Why did you have to lie?
You don’t feel comfortable telling people that you’ve just met that you’ve broken up with your boyfriend. To Kaori, it’s fine to tell her, now that the subject relating to that was brought up and considering you’ve known her for a year but you don’t want for her friends to hear. It’s too personal.
“Great! So that means he’s available?” Miyake says, setting the subject about your affairs aside as her interest was fully on Atsumu.
“Pretty much yeah” a victorious smile emerged from Miyake’s face as those words slipped off your mouth.
“You don’t mind if I go talk to him, do you?” she asks, faking a sweet smile but before you could answer, she started fixing up her hair and make up. The rest of Kaori’s friends started to get excited and helped Miyake. Kaori leans onto your ear, “I’m sorry about Miyake. She’s just really friendly... when it comes to guys.”
A content smile grazed over Miyake’s lips as she stands up.
“Time to have some fun” but before she left, Miyake thanked you then went towards the corner where Aran, Suna and Atsumu were sitting. Cheers erupted from her friends.
“Go get him tiger!”
“He’s quite the hottie, isn’t he?” says Yuki, another friend from Kaori’s major. You can’t deny, Atsumu is definitely good looking. Comparing him to Osamu, even though they practically have the same face, something about Atsumu that he gives off makes him more attractive. The girls suddenly changed topic to the boys they have dated. You were surprised at hearing how Yuki dated a college student back when she was still a high school student.
“(Y/n)-san, tell us more about your boyfriend. What is he like?” asks Yuki with a smile, intrigued of what type of guys you date. You wanted to get out of there. You feel so uncomfortable. You don’t even know your emotional range as of the moment. You’ve been keeping all your feelings to yourself. It was only one time when you totally broke down. It was during Osamu’s visit. You don’t have time to dwell on your break up because you still have a lot of things to prioritize in your studies but somehow you still feel hurt and feel like you’re about to cry. You’re still human too. You wanted to express how you feel.
One’s gaze kept piercing at you. Ever since you sat down with Kaori and her friends, you can’t help but feel that Shioko was a bit off towards you. She has this look on her face that didn’t sit well with you.
Looking at your wine glass, it was all empty. You suddenly want more. You raised your glass, gesturing for the waiter to pour you more. With your glass refilled, you took a huge gulp, emptying its contents before answering the question.
“He’s an athlete”
“Really? My boyfriend is an athlete too!” Shioko interjects, suddenly interested as the two of you have something in common to talk about.
“Ooh! Are you and your mystery guy finally official?” Kaori says, wiggling her eyebrows at Shioko.
“Yeah! In case you didn’t know, (Y/n)-san, we’ve been seeing each other for awhile now but I’m glad he finally asked me to be his girlfriend. Poor guy. He told me his last break up was bad. His ex was awful to him.”
“Is he a nice guy?”
“So nice. Poor girl who broke up with him. He’s quite the catch. I mean he is such a gentleman, caring, kind and great in bed.”
“Oh my goodness Shioko I can’t believe you! You’re at that stage already?” says Kaori who somewhat got excited for her friend.
“I’ve heard of that before” you mumbled but Kaori, Yuki and Shioko heard you loud and clear.
“What?”
Your eyes widened. You said something out loud from your thoughts again.
“Oh it’s nothing.” You say, trying to fake a laugh and looked away, taking another sip of wine.
“So, what’s his name, Shioko-chan?”
You started to feel a bit lightheaded. Is it because of the wine? You can’t seem to focus on the conversation. Your eyes feel droopy. Was it past your bedtime already?
“Oh you’ll meet him real soon.”
You looked down and closed your eyes, holding your head. Kaori notices your sudden discomfort.
“(Y/n)-chan, you okay?” asks Kaori with worried eyes, her hand on you back, trying to sooth you.
“Yeah I just uh need water. Yeah water.”
“Okay I’ll call the waiter” says Kaori and quickly gestures for the waiter to give you a glass of water quickly. “Hang in there, (Y/n)-chan. You must’ve had too much wine today” says Kaori, trying to lighten up the mood. You really weren’t feeling well. You wanted to vomit.
As the waiter gave you a glass of water, you chug onto it.
“Slow down, (Y/n)-chan. At this point, you’ll vomit. Do you want to go to the restroom?”
You shake your head, insisting you were fine. As Kaori decided to let it go and somewhat convinced that you just needed to rest a little, she returned to the conversation with her friends. You felt your phone vibrate in your purse. You saw Atsumu’s name.
Wanna go home?
Looking up, you glanced to where Atsumu and the others were. You saw how Miyake was trying to converse and be close to him. The discomfort displayed across Atsumu’s face was hilarious.
“Look! My boyfriend’s here. Over here baby!”
Shioko points to the door, a tall figure walking in. Shioko excitedly stands up and runs up to her boyfriend, all the attention on them. You felt like your world has stopped. Your grip onto the glass of water you were holding suddenly loosened, making it shatter on the ground.
Silence fills in the restaurant.
“Kaori, this is my boyfriend, Nakamura Kyo.”
Kaori, Aran, Suna and Atsumu’s eyes were then on you, worry plastered all over their faces. You and Nakamura locked eyes. The fear and anger started flare inside you. You remembered the times when he would yell at you every time you would reject to satisfy his needs. You remembered the times when he gripped your arms, forcing you into something you didn’t want to be involved in but you fought back, ending you with bruises. At this point, seeing him made your hands go cold and shake in fear.
Kaori stands up and slowly walked towards Shioko and Nakamura. She stopped in front of them at a safe distance and anger suddenly fills her.
“Shioko, I hate to break it to you but you’ve got the wrong guy. Nakamura-san is (Y/n)-chan’s boyfriend.” Shioko’s eyes widened and looks at you with flare in her eyes. You still looked at your ex-boyfriend, too overwhelmed.
“No. He is my boyfriend-”
“(Y/n) and I broke up for awhile now” says Nakamura, his cold gaze still on you.
Kaori looks back at you but you were still glued to your spot, afraid and threatened but you were also feeling bold. You wanted to scream. Yell at Nakamura to your heart’s content.
“(Y/n)-chan, is this true?”
You look away and let out a breath. You felt so lame. You pretended that you were still dating Nakamura. Slowly grabbing your purse, you stand up but felt wobbly. You held onto the wall for support. It must’ve been the alcohol.
“but why did- hold on, what’s going on here?!” Kaori asks, puzzled as she looks at you and Shioko and Nakamura back and forth. Suna quickly steps into the scene, trying to calm down his girlfriend and take her away from the scene, not wanting for Kaori to be stressed.
Aran was about to step in when Atsumu stopped him, shaking his head.
“What are you-”
“It’s been awhile since we’ve seen her rage mode, right Aran-kun?”
Atsumu knows you. This was your time to shine. All the unspoken feelings will be finally expressed. Atsumu recognizes that flare in your eyes. You deserve to be heard.
A sudden feeling of confidence came to you. Walking in your heels, you walked towards Nakamura and Shioko with threat displayed in your eyes that would make anyone cower in fear.
Stopping in front of them, your eyes were fixed on Nakamura. You had full confidence that he wasn’t gonna try anything to you because there are a lot of people surrounding you. Without knowing, your hand made its way across his face, the sound of impact echoing through the room.
Everything remained still and quiet.
That felt good.
“How dare you slap him!” Shioko was silenced by your intense stare. You looked back at Nakamura who had his jaw clenched and an uneasy expression on his face.
“You had the audacity to tell other people that I was being a horrible girlfriend to you just because I won’t get into your pants?!”
Everyone’s eyes widened. Atsumu smirked at the scene before him. He definitely was shocked at the new information but he was rooting for you. There was no way in stopping you once you’ve gone on full rage mode. He can’t help but feel proud of you for letting your anger out. Atsumu has known you for a long time. You were secretive yes but seeing you finally getting out of your shell was one of the things he grew to admire about you.
“You had the audacity in playing the victim? Shioko-kun here told me you’ve been dating for quite awhile and you guys recently made it official. Meaning to say, you were cheating on me while we were still dating? I can’t believe I wasted so much time with you. Sometimes I wonder if your intentions with me are genuine or you just want have someone to sleep with?”
You say, your voice betraying you as it began to shake from the overwhelming feeling of emotions that you felt like you were gonna be sick. The wine didn’t help either. Tears started to roll down your eyes. All these pent up feelings starting to release.
“Well I’m glad you’ve found someone who gets to sleep with you-”
You suddenly felt a hand make its contact on your face, the burning sensation tingling on your skin. You look at Shioko with wide eyes. She was fuming.
“(Y/n)-chan!” exclaims Kaori, panicked. Aran and Atsumu quickly went to your aid. Aran stood in between you and Nakamura and Shioko, spreading his arms a little.
“Shioko! Why did you do that?!” Kaori yells at Shioko with pure anger in her eyes.
“That bitch is implying that I’m a slut!”
“She didn’t say that.” Aran says, his gaze at the girl.
“I can’t believe you Nakamura-kun! (Y/n)-chan cares for you and you just let that slide? And you, Shioko. You dare to press on (Y/n) when you clearly knew what was going on. We are not friends anymore. You two are cheaters. Get out!” Kaori exclaims, pointing to the door.
Outnumbered, Nakamura and Shioko quickly left the restaurant. It then went quiet.
“I’m sorry for letting my personal problems get in the way of your special day, Kaori-san” you say with a forced smile, the look of defeat in your eyes before storming out of the restaurant, not looking back. You wanted to be alone right now. You needed to breath.
You suddenly felt a hand wrapped around your wrist, stopping you in your tracks. You flinched and looked away, thinking it was Nakamura, afraid he might hurt you but this touch was gentle.
“Hey, it’s me” says Atsumu in a soft tone as he looks at you. He can’t help but feel angry to what trauma Nakamura has influenced to you that you flinched at his touch. You turn around slowly, meeting Atsumu’s gently gaze. It made your heart skip a beat.
“What do you want, piss head?” You say as you started to feel relaxed that it was Atsumu. You can’t seem to focus on what he was saying as you felt your eyes getting droopy. Atsumu scrunched his nose at the nickname you addressed him.
“You’re drunk. I’ll take you home”
“No. I’ll go home on my own.” You say, trying to get out from his grip but Atsumu doesn’t let go. He can’t let you go home alone like this. You’re not in your right state of mind.
“Quit being stubborn, (Y/n)-chan. I also don’t want to get a mouthful from Osamu knowing that I didn’t take you home.”
With a sigh, you nodded and walked with your long time friend. Atsumu wrapped an arm around your shoulders due to your wobbly steps. Atsumu guides you to his car. He helps you get comfortable in your seat. As you hit the soft material, you immediately passed out from the mental and emotional stress you’ve put up today. Atsumu fastens your seatbelt before settling his. Before he drove away, he reclines your seat for you to rest comfortably.
Tumblr media
“Watch your step or we both go down!”
Atsumu says as he tries to climb you two up the stairs to your apartment. You kept saying slurred words and laughed that Atsumu couldn’t help but sigh. Arriving at your doorstep, you faced Atsumu with a cheeky smile.
“‘Tsumu, why do you smell like lemons? Is it because of your hair?” you say with a giggle as you play with his hair, sending blood rushing through his cheeks. He gently grabs your wrist and gently places at your side. He let his other hand make its way to your cheeks, gently caressing the red mark imprinted by the slap awhile ago.
“Does it still hurt?”
You and Atsumu locked eyes. The way he caressed your cheek sent butterflies to your stomach. You stayed silent. You can’t help but feel overwhelmed by the warm feeling inside your chest.
“Let’s get that iced” He says with a soft smile. As you punch in your code, you opened the door, you can’t help but feel a bit lonely once you enter. You suddenly felt sad and felt the need of someone to talk to. Atsumu notices the frown on your face. He hates seeing you like this. You were just so selfless to not let others know what’s been troubling you. He hates how you always put others first before yourself. Who was taking care of you?
“(Y/n)-chan. Are you okay?”
You look up at Atsumu as you were trying to take off your heels. You stared into Atsumu’s eyes. Those hazelnut eyes that you admire ever since high school. Atsumu was the one who always light up your world. He’s childish. He would make you laugh whenever you feel down. Atsumu always knew what the definition of fun was when it comes to you. He may not be good with words when it comes to comforting someone but he’s definitely good at making you feel better by distracting you from your troubles like buying you your favorite ice cream.
This was another side of Atsumu that you have yet to discover.
“Yeah”
Without saying a word, Atsumu heads inside first, walking towards the fridge to only find a pack of peas. Seeing you struggle to walk steadily, Atsumu placed the pack of peas on the kitchen counter and helps you in your steps, leading you to the couch. Your body fell heavily on the soft cushions, making you sigh in relief as you finally got comfortable.
Atsumu then comes back, kneeling in front of you and gently places the cold pack of peas on your cheek, making you hiss at the sudden coldness.
“So ‘Tsumu, how are things with you and Miyake? Did you two hit it off?” Atsumu scoffs and adjusts the pack of peas on your cheek.
“I’m pretty sure you know how uncomfortable I was.”
“She’s quite the looker you know.”
Atsumu remained silent until he got the courage to ask you that’s been bothering him.
“Why didn’t you tell me when Nakamura was forcing you into things, (Y/n)-chan? You know I’m willing to you listen and help you anytime, even when you call me in the middle of practice.”
Another tug in your heart. Volleyball is Miya Atsumu’s entire life but him telling you that he was willing to listen to you even when he’s in practice was making you confused. What does he mean?
“Really? The great Miya Atsumu will allow someone to interrupt him during practice?” you chuckled, but Atsumu’s face morphed into a serious one and focused his gaze on the pack of peas.
“You’re not just someone, (Y/n)-chan.”
Raising your hand, you held the hand that was set on your cheek and let the pack of peas remove from your face, setting it to the side. Atsumu was not looking at you as his heart was beating ten times faster in his chest, his face red.
You slowly leaned in and rested your forehead against his, squeezing his hand gently.
“Thank you, Atsumu. Who knew you could be sweet as honey?”
You say with a small giggle but as you opened your eyes, Atsumu was staring at you intently. You couldn’t understand what was behind his eyes. You felt his hand gently tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear then he cups your cheek, caressing it with his thumb.
“You look beautiful today, you know?”
“Oh so on other days I look ugly?”
“You always look beautiful. That dress just suits you really well.”
“Well, you got good taste too. You did buy this for me.”
Tension was in the air. You can’t help but stare at his lips. Deep down, you know you like Atsumu in a different light. You were just so afraid to speak your feelings and might ruin the friendship you both have. You were always happy when you get to hang out with Atsumu. He never bores you. You love at how childish he is. You also can’t help but gawk at him every time he plays volleyball. He was in his element. The joy and passion in his eyes and smile.
With the alcohol clouded your mind, you done something that might ruin your friendship. You grabbed Atsumu by the collar and kissed him. Your lips met his, sending sparks into your stomach. His lips tasted like cherry while yours was from the wine. You couldn’t stop. Seconds later, Atsumu kissed you back just as hungrily. He wanted for this happen for so long. He wanted to taste your lips. He wanted to tell you how you beautiful you were everyday. He wanted to take care of you, knowing you were his.
Consumed by the temptation, Atsumu lays you on the couch and continued to kiss you. You ran a hand through his hair with a tug, making him groan into your lips. He let his tongue slip in, making you moan and tug his hair even more. It was music to his ears. Pulling away from you for you to take a breath, he attacked your neck with open mouth kissed then to your jaw which sent shivers to your spine and wrap your arms around his neck. Atsumu cups your head while the wraps around your waist, taking full control.
His kisses felt so good. His kisses were different.
You wanted to turn things around. With all your might, you sat up and settled yourself on his lap, kissing his lips again. Heavy breaths were filling the apartment as you two continued your make out session. All the unspoken feelings between you two were put into action.
The kiss was rough at first but then it transitioned into a soft and gentle one. He doesn’t want for you to be reminded of your ex boyfriend. He wants to treat you like you deserve the whole world. Atsumu softly wraps an arm around your waist and cups your cheek, caressing it as your lips move in sync. He wants his kiss to be meant as loving, not from lust. Your hand suddenly went to Atsumu’s button up shirt but he stops you. Atsumu ran a hand through your hair and wipes your sweat with his jacket that was on the couch as you were breathing heavily.
“You’re drunk, (Y/n)-chan. I don’t want to take advantage of you” he says as he fixed your dress and lets you sit down properly on his lap.
“Right. Sorry.” You say, your face flushed from the intense make out session you two just had. You lean your forehead against his? The both of you treasuring this moment.
“Your fangirls are gonna kill me”
“Ya really had to ruin the moment, huh?”
“Do you like me, Atsumu?” you suddenly slurred, your eyes widening from what you just said. You just wanted to be loved. Genuine love. You suddenly felt weird. You felt a bit dizzy. You felt something warm in your insides that kept going up and up. You held your stomach and covered your mouth. Before Atsumu even got to reply, you quickly ran to the bathroom and kneeled down quickly, vomiting all the contents you ate that night. Your heart pounded harder in your chest. You could the pressure in your head that aches. You went for another round, the bitter taste in your tongue making it worst.
Atsumu enters the bathroom and holds your hair for you, soothing your back as you vomit. As you were finally done, Atsumu helps you up and flushes the toilet. He gives you your toothbrush for you to brush your teeth and let the bitter taste vanish.
After that, Atsumu leads you to your bed, tucking you in.
“‘Tsumu, I’m sorry. Your kissing isn’t bad it’s just the-”
“I know. Don’t worry about it.”
“’Tsumu, can you remove my make up?”
You pleades as you pointed to your side table which on top sits some baby wipes. Atsumu nods with a sigh and sat down on your bed. He then started to wipe off your make up. He felt his heart flutter as your face was now make up free. You were even more beautiful. Hearing your soft snores indicated you fell asleep, making him chuckle. Atsumu leans in and kisses your forehead.
“Sleep well, (Y/n)-chan.”

A/N: Hi readers! This fic' was too long to be posted in one part, so I divided it in three distinct part. The next part will come out pretty quickly, seeing as it it already written but not proof read yet. Please, let me some comebacks in the comments or send me a request!
Groans erupted from your throat, a clear indication that your peaceful slumber has been disrupted by some unknown pull. Your heavy eyelids fluttered open with difficulty, the need to sleep omnipresent in your system. A bright blue light forced you to squint while tears formed slowly thanks to its harsh brightness. Before your foggy brain could comprehend what was happening, the glow intensified in a blinding flash and the sudden feeling of free-falling gave you nausea.
The fall was brutal, your whole body crashed on the ground like an inanimate puppet. Your hands flew to your face with a pained cry, covering the painful spot that was your nose in an attempt to soothe the suffering nerves. To say that you were confused was an understatement. One moment, you were peacefully asleep and the next you were… where? You removed your hands from your face, a pounding sensation still beating under your skin and shrieked as your eyes landed on a disgustingly big spider weaving its web between two oversized blades of grass. You jumped aside, eager to put distance between yourself and the arachnid, when your eyes met the magnificent blue sky, as clear as ever, with the sun nearing its peak. The warmth of its rays touched delicately your cheeks achieving to bring a smile to your lips. It has been a really long time since you last sunbathed and today would have been a perfect day to do it if it weren’t for the strange situation you just found yourself in.
At the foot of a nearby tree laid a brown-haired boy cursing under his breath. He must have scratched his knee somewhere, looking as he was slouched over himself trying to alleviate the pain as you did moments ago. Your eyes traveled up, analyzing the familiar form. His outfit resembled yours, his tousled hair the same shade as yours… You jumped to your feet in a hurry when his green gaze met yours.
"Roo!" You exclaimed, running toward your twin. The teenager only had a second to prepare himself before his body was tackled to the ground by an incredible force. His yelp made you laugh before he pushed you aside, adding another fall on the list of today's activities. Once he got a good look at you, Andrew’s eyes widen. Some tears formed in his eyes, but before they could escape and run freely down his cheeks, he threw himself at your neck, hugging you with all his might.
"Y/N!" His strangled voice was muffled by your neck. Your arms wrapped around his body, mirroring his grip. "I missed you too, Roo," You whispered in his neck. Finally, you reunited with the only person in the whole world that understood you more than yourself.
Pushing you at arm length, Andrew’s eyes scanned you like an awk. "How is that possible?" He mumbled, eyebrows furrowing. "You-" Your laugh made him jump and clearly, he was beginning to think that you came back missing some brain cells. Patting his shoulder, a smirk stretched your lips.
"Don't sound so disappointed." You flicked his forehead, just like you used to do when you were kids and you were teasing him. "I might think that you don't like me."
Andrew groaned and pushed you off. Getting up snickering, you brushed off the dirt on your clothes. You had missed it, this perpetual teasing. You both could bicker and argue all you wanted, but you would always recover in no time, never holding a grudge against the other without having to talk about it.
"What the fuck!" Andrew's yell made you look up. He pulled his clothes forward, examining and patting his body like he never saw it before. "No, no, no… Why am I thirteen again?" His head shot up, his green gaze back on you showing his confusion. "What did you do?"
Taking a step back, you put a hand on your chest. "What did I do?" You replied in a defensive tone. "I didn't do shit! Four minutes ago I was-" Your sentence died as your eyes caught on your surroundings. Old cars you’ve had only seen in movies rolled on the streets, ladies walked by wearing old fashioned dresses of various flashy colors and various patterns, different stores displayed proudly their retro signs for all to see. Were you in one of the small American towns that were stuck in time?
"What the…" You heard your brother mutter in sync with yourself. The thought to pinch yourself passed your mind, after all, you did have some really weird dreams recently with all the stuff that happened in your life. Or maybe you watched too much Supernatural in the last months.
Turning around to try and make sense of the scenery, you noticed high buildings beyond the line of trees. If they were anything to go by, you would say that you ended up in a urban park in some random city. The transportation method was still unknown, but that was something you could figure out later.
Women in colorful dresses walked slowly talking to each other on a stone walkway. Some of them pushed baby carriers around while others looked in the twins direction, a hand flying to their mouth, eyes growing as wide as saucers. Looking down, you felt your heart accelerate. You were wearing a pair of black basketball shorts along with a light grey tank top that said: "If I was a bird, I know who I'd shit on". Clearly, you didn’t have the proper attire for this period of time. Andrew was in the same predicament as yourself, with his basketball shorts and his "I play hockey because punching people for no reason is frowned upon" shirt.
Getting a hold of Andrew's wrist, you started to walk away from the outraged women who seemed to be harshly whispering between them, their manicured fingers pointed at them. Would it have been your own modern age town, you would have assumed entirely your choice of clothing, but here, where you didn’t know jack shit about how the people would react? You kept it in and walked away.
"Hey! You two from the 21st century!" Shocked, you stopped in your tracks and turned to meet a brown-haired boy running in your direction. His school uniform was vaguely familiar, although you couldn’t put your finger on where you knew it from. "You guys got transported too!" The boy finally reached them. He was all smile and his bubbly presence made you relax immediately. You noticed six other kids wearing the same uniform walking after their comrade. It reassure you that the majority of the group seemed as lost as your brother and yourself. Maybe you could stick with them for a while. You noticed that they had an unconscious girl with them. You wondered if her state was caused by a fall or by another unknown reason.
"Transported? What are you talking about?" Andrew stepped closer, positioning himself right beside you. He was three inches taller than you and surpassed the new boy by a good one inch.
Bubbly guy turned around, pointing vaguely at one of his approaching friend. "Five time-traveled us here. In the past! So we could stop the a-," a hand on Bubbly's mouth prevented him from saying more.
Before you had time to question the sanity of Five's parents for choosing such a name or ask how one could time-travel back in time, cold blue eyes glared holes in Bubbly's head while maintaining pressure on his mouth. "Shut it. We already have enough attention on us like that." True to his words, people were watching their little group intently, some of them stopping in their tracks to openly stare at them.
The steady rhythm in your ribcage was quickly disturbed by the harsh blue gaze falling on you. A beat or two were skipped, your body too entranced to remember that this muscle was indeed vital to your survival. "We can't talk here." A smirk stretched his lips when his eyes trailed down to your tank top. For a completely unknown reason your body answered to his apparent approval by creating some butterflies in your belly. Swiftly, he removed his jacket and handed it to you.
Eyebrows furrowed, you stared at him, then the jacket and back at him. "I'm not cold thank you." You said confused. Rolling his eyes, Smug Face kept handing you the piece of clothing. "If you walk around looking like that, you might get arrested. People in this decade aren't that open yet." He clarified in an impatient tone.
You didn’t know much about "this decade", but you can feel that he was definitely right. The people around seemed extremely judgemental and unappreciative of your appearance. Sighing, you uncrossed your arms and took the jacket, making sure to not touch the boy's finger in the process. The last thing you needed was your heart stopping indefinitely because it short-circuited at his contact.
"Fine." The black jacket was surprisingly comfortable and light on your shoulders. The coffee scent that lingered on it was quite enjoyable and you found yourself gripping the slightly too long sleeves. Looking down, it seemed like you were wearing a weird looking black dress. If you kept your legs close to each other, that is. Smug Face looked satisfied of your appearance and nodded. His mouth opened to speak again, only to be cut by another.
"Wait. How do we know we can trust you?" Oh, Andrew. Always there to protect you from any harm. Speaking of which, his right arm found its place on your shoulders while his query gaze was fixed to the unconscious girl in one of the boys’ arms.
At that, Smug Face stared at him, seemingly getting colder. "Really?" He rolled his eyes once again and scoffed, turning around. He took off toward a street, muttering to the others to follow him. Some of his companions followed right behind him after sending them curious and apologetic glances. Bubbly and a girl stayed behind, waiting for the newcomers.
The girl sighed and offered her hand to shake. "I'm Allison. Sorry about Five, he's a bit rude."  Bubbly scoffed at that, muttering something about a grouchy old man. "The girl is our sister, Vania. She fell unconscious before we time-traveled. Look, I know you don't have to, but you can trust us." Deep inside you, you knew that they were trustworthy. Anyway, if you were proven to be wrong, all you had to do was use your power and get the hell out of there with Andrew. Smiling, you shook Allison's hand before pointing to your brother.
"That's Andrew, I'm Y/N. And don't worry," You pointed at the nosey people still watching their little group, "between the old-timers and you guys, I choose you guys."
Allison chuckled while Bubbly, who presented himself as Klaus, cheered and led the way to catch up with their siblings.
The walk to a small isolated house took a good 20 minutes. In this time, you talked with the rest of the group, getting to know them a bit.
You learned that the familiarity you found in their uniform was caused by their worldwide superheroes reputation. You remember watching the news one day, 6 of them displaying in front of a crowd, proud faces daring someone or something to come at them and try and beat them. You remember feeling proud of being born on the same day as them. You were all special after all.
However, they weren't as invincible as you once thought in your young innocence. Apparently, they failed in preventing an apocalypse in 2019 and ended up travelling through time to survive, which failed once again because you all were back in your early teen age. The idea of being stuck in the past for your whole life was weird to say the least and you hoped that you would find a way to get back home.
Most importantly though, you learned that Klaus was your favorite out of the group. He was carefree, almost too much sometimes, and was not afraid to be himself. You laughed along with him during a big part of the walk, the both of you mocking the outraged faces of the 1963 grown-ups when they got a good look of Andrew's shirt or Allison's too short skirt for their time.
Luther clearly didn't trust the two addition to their little group. He shot some glances your and Andrew's way from time to time, clearly trying to judge if you were a threat or not. At one point, he asked Allison to walk with him. It may have sound innocent but you knew he wanted to protect her from you. You didn't need a power to find out, his eyes were talkative enough.
Diego was at least approachable. He didn't talk much, but didn't reject you either. He seemed funny on first glance and you hoped that you would have a chance to talk to him more.
Finally, there was Five. For you, he was a total mystery.  He didn't turned around once, too concentrated to get to his destination and not once did he answer his siblings when they asked where he was leading them. He totally ignored the people watching him like he had two heads, sometimes glaring at those who were too close to him, but mainly kept his eyes right ahead.
You reached a cute little yellow house with rows of beautiful purple flowers framing the door. Pansies you think they are named. You were sure that there would be a lovely old lady greeting you at the door with a nice smell of cookies floating in the air, but to your disappointment, a musty smell gripped you at the throat instead, along with dust entering your lungs.
You coughed a bit just like everyone who entered before you minus Five. He seemed immune to his environment, still walking like he hadn't reached his destination yet.
"Five, the hell are we doing here?" Diego's voice echoed through the silent rooms. You wandered into the little living room, barely dodging Klaus who just threw himself on the first couch he saw. A cloud of dust erupted of the old cushion, like an explosion suffocating the brunette who quickly got back on his feet. You laughed at his antics when a hand got a hold of your arm and pulled you toward a door.
"Come on Panda. They went this way." Andrew released you when you followed after him. The door lead to a basement, where everyone was gathered around Five.
"Thank you for finally joining us." The sarcasm caught your attention, your eyes travelling to the source only to find his gaze on you, reanimating the flutters in your belly. Damn butterflies, you'll need to find a fly swatter soon. "Now we can concentrate on stopping the apocalypse." You froze. The what now?
"The hell?" "Did you just say a-" both yours and Andrew's voice died in your throat when Five lifted the corner of a carpet, throwing it at your feet and gripped two wood planks. If he hadn't lifted the two planks like he did, you would never have thought that they were movable.
"Holy shit! You have your own batcave?" Klaus jumped before Five in the hole in the ground. Five followed suit, threatening Klaus of mutilation if he touched anything. Luther moved his unconscious sister in his arms and entered the hole. Your curiosity to see what was down there got the best of you, so you did one step toward the hole before you were stopped in your tracks.
"Woa. We can't go down there. We don't know them." Roo's uneasiness was clear. He didn't trusted them and being stuck underground wasn't helping. "No offense," he watched Allison and Diego, who stayed behind waiting for them, "but you guys might be killers for all we know!"
A blur passed in your field of vision, passing under your brother's chin and hitting the wall.
"Don't you fucking dare call us killers. We save people." With each words, Diego got closer to Andrew, growing the tension in the room as he went.
"And you think that they'll trust us when you throw knives at them?" Allison grabbed her sibling's arm and pulled him back, away from Andrew's face.
"They have to if they want to come back from here." Five's voice coming from behind you made you jump. You hasn't seen him exit the hole nor did you hear his steps. "And we don't have time to waste. The clock is ticking." His tone let no place to negotiate. He was losing patience. And fast.
"To stop the apocalypse?" The hope of returning home, to your family and friends was relieving. If you could do something to save them in 2019, you would definitely do everything to make sure that happened.
"Yes and if we want to have a chance to do it, we must start to plan. Now." A sigh on your left made you relax. Andrew finally admitted defeat, allowing you to follow Five who disappeared under the ground again.
You stopped in awe at the underground living room. A bunker. The perfect hideout to plan to stop an apocalypse.
…………………………….
Your brain felt like it was going to explode at any second. After Five had thrown spare clothes to everyone, the Hargreeves had taken an hour or so to explain what happened in 2019 and you were now trying to elaborate a plan against an organisation named the Commission. Sadly, every ideas were quickly rejected by an impatient and highly irritated Five.
Klaus' whines about his empty stomach was getting on the boy's nerves for the last half hour, but you couldn't stop yourself before finally agreeing and proposing to go get some take out. Thinking with an empty stomach was too much to ask for and by the looks of it, Five would never be satisfied by anyone's idea.
Cheers resonated in the room making you chuckles while Five rolled his eyes.
"I'm coming with!" Klaus cheerfully tapped your shoulder and lead the way out of the bunker.
"Me too! You'll need someone to "pay" for the food." Allison chuckled along with you. You shot a questioning glance at your brother, only to be answered with a shake of his head. You knew he would probably use this time to snoop around the bunker and get to know who he was plotting with.  Just as you were about to exit the house with your 2 new friends, a blue flash on your right caught your attention.
"I'm coming." Every damn time! The second you hear that damn melodious voice, your heartbeat accelerates! Were you ill? Was your body trying to tell you something? Warn you against him?
"Believe me, old brother dear! We really don't want to know!" Hands moving in the air like a lunatic, Klaus turned on himself to face you, walking backwards. You barely had time to slap a hand on your mouth to stop yourself from laughing at the boy. "You just want coffee, say it." He added on a more serious tone.
"I'm here to make sure that you newbies don't alter the timeline more than it already is." Allison ignored Five's irritated comment and nudged your arm.
"Hey, sorry about Diego earlier. He really takes his vigilante work seriously." You shrugged it off, it wasn't a big deal to you. You were a bit carefree but not careless. You had good instincts and you knew that you could trust your guts telling you that they were good allies.
"It's fine. Sorry for my brother, Roo really crossed a line, calling you killers like that." You paused, trying to find the right words to describe your situation. "He's just really confused. One minute we are relaxing at home and the next we are back in our teenage body in an old american city." You frown, looking at the ground. A delicate hand found your shoulder and squeezed softly.
"I forgot to ask!" You jumped at Klaus' sudden exclamation. "Where are you guys from? I can't place your accent!"
You scratched your neck, an embarrassed smile forming on your face. "Sorry for the accent." A nervous laugh escaped your lips. "My brother and I are French Canadian. We grew up learning French and English, but I'm way more fluent in French as it's my mother tongue." You were not embarrassed of your country in the slightest. You loved Canada, it was just that a certain piercing blue pair of eyes was glued to you ever since you left the house and they started making you nervous.
Klaus gasped before reaching your side to throw an arm around your shoulder and pull your smaller form into his side. "Our polite neighbors! You don't have to worry, your English is impéccable so far!" You giggled, happy to know that your nationality won't be an issue.
"So you were in Canada and you still time-travelled?" Five's sudden question surprised you. During the whole way to the nearest diner, he had remained silent, listening and analysing. His incredulous tone made you perplexed. Was it wrong? You opened the door to the others before answering the question.
"Looks like i-" A fist hit the counter in front of you, making you jump. Your heartbeat accelerated for a second, the silence in the diner deafening to your ears and rising your nervosity. Every pair of eyes in the room was directed at you, more so at Allison. You perceived her anxiety and immediately, your hand found hers in a weak attempt to appease her. The way her fingers tightly interlaced with yours despite her keeping a strong exterior alerted you that she was shrinking inside.
The looks on the patrons faces made you sick. You recognized those looks. Disgust. Anger. Superiority. For a moment, you had forgotten that a lot of people in these years hated the people of color and that they suffered great injustices.
The clerk behind the counter with his haughty air, pointed a sign behind him. The sight made you gnash. Whites only. Oh how you wanted to show him how colourful he could get if you hit him hard enough. You opened your mouth at the same moment as Klaus, but the both of you were interrupted by none other than Five.
"We're leaving." Your eyes went wide, quickly turning to him to yell at him instead, but were cut off by his hand pulling you out harshly along with Allison. The second you were outside, you pulled your hand back as hard as you could, nearly elbowing Klaus in the stomach when Five let you go.
"Why are you letting them win?" You spat. Some patrons were still eyeing you through the front window, contentment dripping from their features. You nearly decided to get back inside and speak your mind.
"There's nothing we can do about that. Drop it." Your blood was still boiling in your veins. You wanted justice. You wanted to punch the clerk's and patron's smug faces until their thick skull understood that people of color or not, everyone had the same rights. You were all humans. You were all sentient beings.
"It's fine. Let's go." Allison's weak smile didn't even reached her eyes. As much as you hated to, you dropped it nevertheless. Pushing the matter wouldn't do anyone any good so you followed Five towards another diner, your morale at its lowest. He and Klaus went inside to get the food while you waited with Allison outside. You two settled on a bench near the diner so the boys would find you easily and started softly passing rocks at each other with your feet.
"You must miss them." You frowned at the affirmation.
"Who?"
"Your soulmate and your family." Her sad eyes met yours. It was at this moment that you realised that she looked utterly tired. It pulled at your heart to see her in this state.
"I never met my soulmate. But I do miss my family a lot." You recalled your mom who stroked your hair when your weren't feeling good, your dad who would always figure out a way to cheer you up and your dog who would always be a sunshine and sleep over your covers to keep you warm whenever you felt cold. Lowering your head because of the tears forming in your eyes, you blinked several times to subtly kept them at bay. Years of hiding your tears caused you to improve your own technique and become an expert.
"You'll meet him, one day." You slowly nod your head, keeping your gaze low. "You say "never" like it was definitive, but when we get back in 2019, there's still a chance that you'll find him." She pat your shoulder, smiling softly. You returned her smile. You were about to ask about her own soulmate when something shiny caught your eyes. The sun reflected off a metallic surface, which you quickly attributed to a knife.
Before you could register what happened, your brain forced your hand to move and grab the knife in a strong grip. The pain was excruciating. The feeling of a thousand paper cuts all happening at once, cutting through your flesh and leaving a burning feeling in your palms and fingers made you grunt. As much as you wanted to drop the knife, you couldn't. Because if you were to release your grip on the weapon, the moron who tried to stab your friend would get what he wanted.
Only when he pulled back on the knife, cutting deeper into your flesh, did you screamed and fell on your knees. You heard your name but you were too focussed trying to keep the pain at bay, squeezing your wrist in vain. The burning intensified, along with your heartbeat resonating into your hand. A soft touch on your back brought you back to reality. The moron had apparently took out, leaving you with Allison, Klaus and a disheveled Five.
"Wait, you're cut too?"
You couldn't concentrate. Your head along with your hand were pounding, blood pooling between your fingers and tainting your newly acquired old pants. For a moment, all you could see was the deep red of your blood, slowly oozing from the deep gashes in your palm and phalanges. It was mesmerizing and terrifying. You haven't been hurt to the point of bleeding in… years? It wasn't something you missed in the slightest.
Then your world became blue. The most beautiful and calming shade of blue you've ever seen. It happened in a flash and suddenly you were back in the bunker under the yellow house. No more calming blue, no more street, no more cars. No more bubble.
"What the hell happened!?" Andrew's body filled your vision while his beaming voice filled your ears.
"Stop screaming. That's unnecessary." You were certain that if Five hadn't knelt on your side and showed you his hand, Andrew would have definitely jumped at his throat and strangled him. Your eyes widened when you noticed the blood on his hand. Both your cuts were 100% identical. "That explain why you got teleported from Canada." The tiniest of smile graced his features. "Hey soulmate."
You didn't know how you two being soulmates allowed you to time-travel, but you knew two things: you were screwed and the butterflies will keep dancing in your stomach for the rest of your life.

The Storyteller
Ship: non idol Yunho x fem OC (Mia)
Mostly fluff, slight angst bookstore au. ---Word count: 9.1k. ---Warnings: mentions of cheating (not main pairing), one mention of sex (non explicit), self doubt, depression, unsure of other warnings. ---- A/N: due to the lovely 250 word block limit these paragraphs run on, and for that I am sorry. I am posting this in Honor of Yunho's birthday. Though it's slightly late.
This year the summer seemed warmer than usual. Yunho noticed more heat coming through his apartment window as he worked. Writing and composing songs as he overlooked the city. He was in a rut with writing, they had asked him to write another love song. How could he write about something that broke him last year? How could he write about something that seemed so far out of reach. All his experiences with love he'd already written, and at this point he felt like if he wrote another song about his ex, he might scream. The blinking cursor on the blank screen of his laptop seemed to mock him. He got up and decided to call his brother, maybe he could help him with some ideas. "So, I got a promotion, and part of that promotion is I get to go on a cruise with the CEO and other leaders in the company." His brother said excitedly over the phone, as Yunho paced the floor in his living room.
"That's awesome," Yunho responded, maybe he shouldn't have asked his brother how work was going.
"Problem is, it's only a cruise for two, and it would help me get to know the higher ups better," his brother continued. Yunho's stomach sank, as his brother started to ramble.
"Why do I feel this means I need to watch the twins." Yunho sighed as he opened the door to his small balcony, stepping outside.
"Yunho, it would be the biggest help if you could watch them. It's only for a week, and being as you work from home, I was hoping you could just reconvene to my house for the week. We will buy all the food for the three of you. If you do this I'll also buy your groceries for the next month!" How could he say no to that. His brother had been working so hard and diligently for years. Two 6 year olds shouldn't be too hard right?
Yunho had never been so wrong. Was free food worth this? The twins were driving him crazy. Never a second of rest, and they always wanted to play, eat, or do something that meant Yunho couldn't focus at all. He hadn't gotten anything done for work in three days. He needed a break. How his brother and wife cared for these two tornadoes 24/7 was bewildering. After the twins came back in from playing in the backyard complaining that Yunho didn't do anything with them, Yunho wanted to scream. As a last resort he searched online for something to do with kids. He found a small ad on social media from a nearby bookstore, something called, 'Story time adventures' that happens every Thursday during the summer at 1pm. Recommended age was 4-10, and it was free. He sighed in relief, today was Thursday, and he could have a small break. Maybe he would get just a few minutes of peace while the twins attended. Yunho packed up the kids, and promised to go to the park after the story time, if they behaved. The twins eagerly obliged. Once they arrived at the bookstore he saw a small area set up near the back of the store, with a bean bag chair and lots of small pillows placed on the floor in front of it, a few children already sat on some of the pillows. He urged Kai, and Nami to go join, with a small nudge. Yunho took a deep breath, feeling a small sense of relief as he started to let the atmosphere of the small store put him at ease.  As he started to browse, he found himself in the fantasy section he picked a book and started to read the insert, it didn't seem interesting to him, so he placed it back upon the shelf. As he continued to wander around the store he could hear the children giggling as someone read. He turned down another isle, and could hear her voice.
"Who are you?” said the Caterpillar.
This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, “I—I hardly know, Sir, just at present—at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.”
Yunho was enthralled. The storyteller's voice timbre changing slightly with every character. Her narration voice was calming. He found himself looking around the shelfs towards where the story time was happening. That's when he first saw her. She looked small in the bean bag. Her white jeans, and powder blue blouse, made her match the character of Alice. A white plush rabbit sat next to her on the bean bag. A children's picture book of Alice in Wonderland was in her hands as she read so the children could see the pictures. Only after someone cleared their throat did Yunho realize he was currently blocking the main aisle way. He quietly bowed and muttered an apology and moved off to the side.  She looked so at ease around the 15 or so children who sat in front of her. Each one clinging onto her every word. Her eyes sparkled as she read about the tea party, her mischievous grin matched that of the Cheshire cat as he disappeared. She made the whole bookstore become Wonderland. As she read and placed Alice back into her rightful world, Yunho found himself leaning on the bookshelf behind her. Admiring her attention to the little details. She had a small top hat clipped in her hair, a blue butterfly sat atop. Her earrings were pocket watches.
"Now how did you all enjoy Wonderland?" Her natural voice was joyful, still drawing him in. He listened to the discussion about the book she had with the children. Some asked about if food could really make you grow, others commenting on the mad hatter.
"How did you do so many voices?" Kai asked, obviously intrigued. She laughed. If Yunho could describe the sound he would, but he couldn't pinpoint any words, it just sounded happy to him.
"I like to make sure every character has their own personality, it makes reading even more fun!" She responded, and clasped her hands together.
"Ok, unfortunately that's all the time for today." Her words were met with groans. "I hope you all come next week, we are going to Neverland!" Her smile widened as she lifted a children's picture book of Peter Pan.
Yunho shook his head bringing him back to reality. He wanted to return next week. Kai and Nami ran towards him. "We were good, can we go to the park now?" Nami pleaded, as she tugged on his hand.
"Of course, I might even treat you guys to ice cream" Yunho smiled, as the twins cheered.
----
Yunho found himself daydreaming about the story teller. The way she made the story come alive, made him want to go back, and listen to her again. But now that his brother was back home, which he was grateful for, he couldn't go. Or could he?
"Hey, so I was hoping to take the twins tomorrow for a few hours around lunch" he heard his brother choke on air through the phone, as he sat on a chair on his small balcony.
"I thought you couldn't be happier to be rid of them. Isn't that what you said on Sunday?" His brother's voice bewildered.
"I've had a change of heart." Yunho leaned back putting his feet up on the small metal table.
"Yunho, you aren't trying to pick up single mothers at the park are you?" His brother's voice teased
"No, why would I do that?"
"It's the only explanation for you actually wanting to watch them. After being stuck with them for a week. I know what little monsters they can be."
"No, I just thought they might enjoy going to story time again." Yunho's voice faded as he played with the hem of his shirt.
"Oh so you're wanting to see the storyteller again? Hmm?? The kids said they enjoyed that, and that you gave them ice cream afterwards." Yunho could hear the teasing tone continue,  as his brother spoke.
"Why do you always have to bug me about seeing someone new? Can't I just enjoy the stories with the kids."
"Well you can, but I know you're not going for the stories. You're going because you want a girlfriend."
Yunho wanted to retort his brother's statement, but he knew it would just lead to more teasing. "Look, can I just take the kids to story time tomorrow?" He sighed.
"If you end up meeting someone, that means my children make great wingmen!"
"You're so weird"
"You're the one wanting to borrow my children"
----
He knew nothing about her, but her voice haunted his dreams, both awake and asleep. His only thought was to try to find a seat in the small book shop to listen to her. He got there early, and sent Kai and Nami to sit, as he found a seat off to the side, grabbing a book and pretending to read. Yunho laughed as he noticed Kai taking the front center pillow, his sister following suit, Kai was just as intrigued as he was. He watched as other children filed in, their parents starting to browse the store. Suddenly a sound of tinkling bells came from the aisle next to Yunho. He watched as she appeared, dressed in a Peter pan inspired outfit, green jeans a matching top tucked in, she even had a Peter pan hat complete with feather. Her phone making the sounds.
"Are you guys ready to go to Neverland? Does anyone know how to get there?" She inquired as she approached the bean bag.
"Second star to the right!" Nami practically screamed. Her response was met with laughter from around the store.
"That's right, and straight on til morning! Now all we need is pixie dust, and happy thoughts then away we go!" She reached into her pocket withdrawing a hand full of tiny shimmering clear glitter. She tossed it, sprinkling it over the children, who giggled in response. He watched as she sat on the beanbag, lifted the book.
"Peter Pan" she started, as she opened the book. Yunho never opened the book he had grabbed, he listened, being sucked into the story as much as the children. She even crowed like Peter, while reenacting the fight between Peter and Hook with one hand as she read the story from the bean bag. She was having just as much fun doing this, as the kids were. He rode the back of the wind with the children, until the storyteller placed Wendy, John and Michael back in London. He had to get to know her, at least her name. The discussion time for the book started and ended quicker than Yunho wanted, he hadn't caught what book she was doing next week, nor any of the questions asked. He was caught up in his head. He usually had such confidence with these situations, but he didn't know how to approach this talented young woman. It had been a while since he tried dating. Luckily for him Kai wouldn't leave the poor girl alone, he was talking her ear off. As Yunho approached, he heard Kai asking every question that popped into his head.
"What's your favorite color" Kai's voice excitedly said.
"Purple" she laughed, Kai looked between the storyteller and his uncle and smirked.
"When was the last date you went on?" Kai's smirk grew, along with Yunho's eyes. What had gotten into this kid?
"Umm, I haven't been on a date in a while" she responded looking at the young boy with a raised eyebrow.
"So you don't have a boyfriend?" Kai asked.
"No Kai, I don't have a boyfriend" she chuckled, placing her hands on her hips.
"Can I be your boyfriend?" The 6 year old asked, looking up at her with big eyes. She smiled warmly, and softly shook her head.
"I'm sorry Kai, but you are far too young to be my boyfriend. You are sweet for asking." She tried to let the kid down easy.
"What about my uncle Yunho?" Kai grabbed his uncle's shirt. Yunho's ears turned red as he looked bewildered at his nephew.
"Well, I will have to see," she laughed, as she looked at the tall panicked man.
"He's been lonely since his girlfriend left last year," Nami added as she grabbed onto Yunho's pant leg. What had he gotten himself into? Yunho wanted to hide.
"Well that wasn't very nice of her was it." She responded, looking between the two twins. Then looking at Yunho. "Kids say the darndest things" she held back her laughter as best as possible. "I'm Mia" she extended her hand.
"Yunho" he shook it, and did a small bow. She smiled warmly.
"Well these two are sweet. It's nice of you to bring them."
"He asked to bring us today, so he could hear another story." Kai smiled mischievously. The kid definitely took after his father. Yunho wished he was anywhere but here.
"Is that so?" Her eyes twinkled as she lifted her eyebrow at Yunho and winked.
"Yeah he called dad last night." Nami added, excitedly. Yunho wished he could disappear, like the cat from last week's story.
"So Uncle Yunho, are you employing kids to be your wingmen?" Her eyes full of mischief, as she smirked, he was sure his face was redder than a tomato.
"I, uh, I swear it's not what it seems. I just, uh, like your stories" he mentally slapped himself, though his panicked response made her laugh.
"Well, that's a shame because you're kind of cute." She joked, winked again, then walked away towards the front of the store. Yunho watched her for a moment, shocked at her bold statement.
"Wait, Mia! " he said following her, grabbing each of the twins hands in his.
"How can I help you," she smiled, as she went behind the counter.
"Wait, you work here?" Yunho questioned. She laughed again.
"What did you think I was doing here?" her response floating along her slight laughter.
"Well I thought you only came to read to the kids. I truthfully thought you were a voice actress." his voice faded as he looked at the counter, setting his hands on top of it.
"Well that would be an interesting career. I actually pitched the summer storytime idea. I read a book to a little kid to help calm him down after he lost his mom at the spring festival earlier this year. By the time I finished reading I had a group around me." she smiled as she stared at Yunho's hands resting on the counter. "I've always enjoyed books, so if I can help kids enjoy the stories, and start reading themselves I want to do it."
Yunho felt his heart soften. This young woman in front of him seemed to have a heart of gold. He barely knew her, but he wanted to get to know her better. He just wasn't sure if he had the courage to ask her out quite yet. His heart still fragile from its harsh break last year.
"Miss Mia" Nami peeked her head over the counter.
"Yes, Nami" Mia leaned on the counter making eye contact with the small girl.
"Will you come to the park with us?" The little girl asked. Mia laughed softly.
"Well, I still have work." She placed her head in her hands.
"For how much longer?" The small girl questioned. Mia looked at her watch.
"About a half hour"
"We can wait!" Kai didn't wait for either of the adults to respond, he just pulled Yunho back into the book store. They browsed the shelfs of the entire store until each of them found a book that interested them. He walked back up to the counter with the twins in tow, each of them setting their choices on the counter.
" 'The Astronaut Who Painted the Moon', good choice Kai. I think you will really enjoy it, and the way it describes the colors. Oh, and Nami you chose 'Planting the Wild Garden' it's a great book about how seeds actually work." She then paused with a smile gracing her lips, as she picked up Yunho's choice, her eyes sparkled with nostalgia. " 'Spinning Starlight' is one of my favorites. It's actually a retelling of 'The Wild Swans', but this book captivated me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did Yunho." Her hands gently placed the books into a paper bag stamped with the store's logo.
"You know a lot about these books," Yunho said, handing her his card.
"Well I do work at a bookstore, plus you guys happened to pick books I have read and enjoyed." laughter traced her every word, as Yunho traced her features in his mind. The way her eyes crinkled as she laughed, the small imperfections in her skin bringing beauty to the world around him, the way her lips sat so perfectly, she was imperfectly perfect, and he was transfixed. He was starting to realize he was head over heels for this girl, that he barely knew. The trio stepped outside and sat on the small bench waiting for Mia, as she clocked out and grabbed her things.
"I don't get invited to go to the park very often. What's the first thing we should do?" Mia asked as she looked between the twins a small smile on her face.
The four of them played on the playground equipment, the younger two creating their own world, and directing the older pair at what to do. Which resulted in side aches from laughing so hard. "What?" Yunho asked as Mia laughed at him, as he laid the full length of the child size slide.
"You are bigger than the slide" Mia giggled as she leaned on the side of the slide looking at him. Yunho smiled as they looked at each other.
"Thanks for coming to the park, you didn't have to." Yunho sat up, then stood from the slide.
"Well I haven't been asked to go to the park in a while, plus I didn't have anything going after work today, and some sunshine would be good for me." Mia said as she walked towards the empty bench off to the side of the playground. Yunho started to follow only to be called by Kai. Yunho ran over and looked up at the young boy through the railing of the playtoy.
"Have you asked her out yet?" Kai inquired as he played with the ship wheel in front of him mindlessly.
"It's not that easy Kai, I barely know her" Yunho responded as he gazed in her direction. She was sitting on the bench now, leaning her head back, eyes closed enjoying the sunlight on her face. She seemed to glow in the midday sun.
"Well, I think she likes you. I can't wait to tell dad I'm a good wingman!" Kai smiled to himself, bringing Yunho's attention back to the twins.
"Did your dad put you up to this?"
"Well he said if we helped you get her number, he would give us ice cream everyday for a week!" Nami said excitedly, as she took control of the wheel from her brother.
"Your dad bribed you guys to get me on a date?"
"He said someone needed to help you, ever since Yuni left you've been sad. Dad just wants you to be happy." Nami looked at her uncle with concern on her face.
"I am happy," Yunho countered softly, as he looked towards Mia again. Was he really just putting on a front? His brother surely saw through everything. Could everyone see how lonely he'd felt? How would that affect the small spark he felt with Mia. He looked back to the twins, who were staring at him. He sighed they were right. He wasn't happy.
"So I'm thinking we should go get some ice cream, how does that sound?" Mia suggested as she approached the trio. Squeals of approval came from the twins as they raced to get down to them.
"Can I have strawberry!" Nami asked as they approached the ice cream stand.
"I want chocolate!" Kai added.
"Can I get one Strawberry, one chocolate, one cookies and cream and whatever the lady here orders" Yunho said at the window.
"I can pay for myself," Mia said, opening her wallet.
"No It's on me. You came to the park, and you didn't have to" Yunho insisted, handing his card to the worker before she could do anything else. Mia shook her head and sighed.
"Um, I will also take cookies and cream," she said softly. The worker nodded and swiped Yunho's card.  Soon enough the four of them were eating ice cream at a small table in the shade.
"Thanks for joining us today Mia, it was fun!" Nami said as she devoured the last of her ice cream.
"Well thank you for the invite. I'm sure Chen hasn't missed me too much." Mia thought aloud.
"I thought you said you didn't have a boyfriend," Kai accused, pointing his chocolate smudged finger at Mia. She laughed.
"I don't, I have a hedgehog," she paused to look at her watch, "who is probably upset I'm not feeding him yet"
"You have a hedgehog!" Kai yelled, sending small droplets of chocolate all over the table.
"Yes," she chuckled. "And he is three this year" She was proud, like a mother would be of her child. "Do you guys want to see a picture of Chen?" She asked, unlocking her phone.
"Yes!" Nami scrambled from her seat, climbing atop the table to see the phone better. There on the screen was a small light brown almost cream colored hedgehog, sitting on a small blue towel
"Chen is a blonde hedgehog, I rescued him from the shelter almost two years ago"
"They have hedgehogs at the animal shelter? I thought they only had cats and dogs" Kai asked as he got closer to the screen. The two small faces stared intently at the screen. Their noses only a few centimeters away.
"The shelter actually has all sorts of pets, most people just go for the dogs and cats. But my apartment doesn't allow animals bigger than Chen." Yunho just watched as Mia showed the twins more photos of Chen. He hated to say he believed in love at first sight, it always seemed to be a stupid thing to him. Until now, ever since he first saw Mia he couldn't get her out of his brain. The more he saw her, the more intrigued he became. He wanted to learn everything about her. "Sorry Yunho, you probably couldn't see him over these two" she laughed as she handed him her phone. There was the small hedgehog, she had placed a small bowtie on him. "This is when I celebrated his first 'gotcha' day"
"He is a cute little guy, he looks like he'd fit in just the palm of my hand." Yunho smiled, handing back her phone.
"Why don't you ask Mia if you can meet him, then you can see" Kai, again, was making Yunho want to disappear. Mia was gently shaking her head, her expression was no longer peaceful. She looked slightly panicked, and Yunho's mind started reeling. What had he done wrong?
"Maybe someday" she responded, getting up from the small table. "But I should go and take care of Chen. It was a lovely afternoon, and thank you for the ice cream" she gave a smile as well as a soft bow and wave, and quickly walked away.
-----
Yunho went to the small bookstore on his own that Saturday, hoping to see Mia and apologize for whatever had happened. Mia was wearing jeans and a graphic t, nothing abnormal, yet Yunho couldn't stop staring. "How can I help you today, Yunho?" She said sternly as he approached the counter.
"I wanted to apologize for Thursday." His large hand swept through his hair, still trying to figure out what he did.
"You did nothing wrong." she seemed to brush off the subject, as she walked away with a pile of books in hand.
"I feel like something happened. Was it the twins? I'm sorry if something they said was inappropriate." Yunho said following her.
"No. They also were fine." Her answer was abrupt.
"Can I help you put those away?" Yunho gestured towards the books, as he fell in step with her.
"I'm alright, I can do this on my own." She kept walking further into the store. She seemed so warm on Thursday, but now she seemed to be turning a cold shoulder on him.
"I-" Yunho's own words caught in this throat, his feet stopping at the end of an aisle. "I'm sorry, I'll leave you alone." his soft words barely reaching her as she stopped.
"Yunho." She sighed, and motioned him to come closer with her head. As he approached she lost her own words. "It's not you." She whispered as she started to put books on the shelf.
"It has to be me. That's the only explanation I can come up with" he said, stepping behind her taking the book she was trying to place on the top shelf from her hand, and placing it where she was trying to place it.
"The explanation is me." She kept her eyes on the shelf in front of her, he could hear the slight tremor in her voice. He placed a hand softly on top of the one she had resting on the shelf. He could feel her body shake slightly as she started to sob. Yunho started to search for words. He was concerned, he wanted to comfort her. Would a hug be too much? I mean he was practically caging her in right now. Was that what was making her cry? He lifted his hand and moved backwards slightly, not wanting her to feel trapped. She dropped to her knees shaking, propping herself up against the bookcase. Mia was finally letting it all out. It was too late to stop her emotions now. Without getting closer Yunho just sat down next to her. Sometimes silence answered more than words. Today that was the case. Mia noted Yunho's presence, currently it felt like the only thing anchoring her to a safe harbor. She had been building this shell for so long, that when it broke it let a dam of emotions loose. The grief and betrayal from last winter. The constant mask she bravely put on everyday though she was broken. Mia found herself placing a hand on Yunho's knee as he went to move, she needed her anchor. Yunho placed his hand on hers.
"I never meant to make you cry." Yunho's words barely above a whisper, as he took his other hand and softly wiped her tears from her cheek.
"It isn't you." Mia rested her head against his hand. She wanted to trust him, to tell him everything, but her mind fought against it. He'll be just like Jay, he will make you believe him then he will lie to you over and over again. She shook her head. No, Yunho was different. But is he, or are his good looks deceiving you. Mia wanted to scream at the doubting voice in her mind. She looked up into Yunho's eyes. They were pure, almost puppy like. "Can you promise me something, even though I barely know you."
"Yeah" Yunho nodded, as he dropped his hands. He was now staring at her intently.
"Can you promise me that you'll be honest with me?" Her question puzzled him.
"Of course."
"No, I need to know you're going to be honest. That you won't lie, even if it's to cover up my pain." Mia wasn't sure exactly why she was demanding this from the man she barely knew, in the bookstore after she just cried in front of him. Yunho wasn't sure either, but he nodded anyway.
"I promise I'll be honest." He looked at her, a small grin turning up the corner of his mouth. "To prove that. Can I say my butt is really starting to hurt, can we stand up now?"
She laughed, and got up. Wiping her damp cheeks with the back of her wrist "I want to explain some things." She paused as she took a deep breath. "I get off at 6. Would you be willing to meet me at the diner two doors down, about 6:15? I'll pay for dinner." Mia inquired as the two of them headed towards the front of the store. Yunho smiled and nodded.
"I will see you at 6:15"
-----
"Are you two ready to order?" The waiter smiled as he pulled a pencil from behind his ear, looking at Mia.
"I'll have #2 with over hard eggs, and bacon" Mia said, handing the waiter the menu.
"I'll have the #7 scrambled with extra bacon" Yunho smiled at Mia, as the waiter scribbled down their orders.
"I'll get those put in" the waiter nodded as he walked away.
Mia looked at her hands and as she played with her fingers nervously. How could she even start.
"I saw your boss pull you aside as I was leaving. You didn't get in trouble did you?" Yunho asked,  only to get a breathy chuckle from Mia.
"No, fortunately or unfortunately she pulled me off to the side to make sure I was OK. This isn't the first time I've broken down at work." Mia let another breathy chuckle as she played with the ring on her pointer finger. "I hope it's the last though. I feel embarrassed that you saw me like that."
"Don't feel embarrassed, I can be a shoulder to cry on." Yunho then looked at her tentatively. "Do you mind if I ask if you're ok?"
"I'm getting there." She avoided looking at him like the plague.
"Is there anything I can do to help, or make you feel better?" His words, sincere. He was truly concerned, he hadn't seen someone else break down like that in a long time.
"It is sweet of you to ask but I don't know. I don't know how to explain any of it properly, at least not without having another meltdown" her gaze found a drop of water on the table. She put her finger in it, and started to doodle with the water. She would take any distraction from her emotions right now.
"You don't have to explain anything then. I can wait until you are ready." Yunho cocked his head to the side, and bent over to try to look into her eyes.
"What if I'm never ready" she finally looked at him, her pained look met his soft caring eyes.
"I will still wait. I can be a constant in your life. Like an anchor in the storm."
-----
The next Thursday he took the twins to listen to Mia again. This time Mia was dressed in all blue as she told the tale of Pinocchio. Yunho smiled when he realized she made herself the blue fairy. The true narrator of the tale. He watched from the seat he had chosen the week before. He laughed as Pinocchio's nose grew. When the mischief started Yunho could feel the tension of the story. It amazed him to hear her read the stories, she painted the pictures so marvelously with her words, that when Pinocchio was stuck in the water just before he got swallowed by the whale he wanted to hold his breath.  He felt joy as the blue fairy gave Jiminy his good conscience badge, and when Pinocchio became a real boy he had to hold in his cheers. Everytime she told a story it was as if it was the first time he heard it, though he knew all the stories well.
"So how did you guys enjoy Pinocchio?" Mia asked as she set down the book.
"I liked the cricket. Though I don't like bugs" one of the girls said, as she pulled a face. Mia giggled.
"I like him too. So, do you guys think Jiminy was a good conscience?" She asked the group.
"I think he was. Pinocchio just didn't always listen." One of the older boys said.
"But Jiminy was supposed to keep Pinocchio from doing the bad stuff. So didn't I don't think he did very good." One of the girls piped up.
"That is a good point Sumin. He didn't always stop him, But do we always listen to our parents?" Mia asked the little girl, who blushed slightly as she looked down.
"No, I guess we don't."
"But that doesn't mean we have to give up if something bad happens. Sometimes we have to be brave and do things that scare us. Maybe we can do our best to be brave and fix our mistakes like Pinocchio did." Mia said, making eye contact with Yunho. She nodded at him slightly as she returned her attention to the group.
"Then we can become real boys!" One of the smallest in the group said excitedly, which resulted in giggles from around the area.
"Yes, then we can also become real like Pinocchio. Remember life isn't about being perfect, it's about doing your best, and apologizing if you do make mistakes." Mia smiled. "Now remember next week is our last week for this summer so come ready to listen."
"What are you going to read?" Nami asked excitedly.
"It's a surprise! But, I'm going to dress as a princess." She loudly whispered with an exaggerated wink to the group.
"Can I dress up too?" A voice called.
"Of course. We'll give special treats to the princes and princesses who come." Mia's response was greeted with cheers.
"It was a good story today," Yunho said, approaching her.
"I've always enjoyed the little wooden boy." She smiled, as she cleaned the small area up a bit.
"I was wondering if you could maybe give a real boy a chance." Yunho looked at her, his eyes pleading. She looked at her feet then back at him.
"I can try" her voice soft, as she nodded.
"Yes!!" The twins shouted, making the older pair jump slightly. Yunho actually forgot he had brought them for a minute. Mia just started to laugh as the twins started telling Yunho which ice creams they were going to make their dad buy.
"Are you available Saturday?"
-----
"Hi Mia, Are you ready to go?" Yunho leaned on her door frame as Mia answered the door.
"I believe so" she smiled as she grabbed her purse.
"You look nice," he said, admiring her jeans and brown peasant blouse.
"Thank you, you look nice as well. I like your shirt" she noted looking at his dark gray short sleeved button up. Her smile lit up the hallway as she locked her apartment. "So where are we going"
"Well, I wanted to do something a little different" He smiled. "I hope you're ready for an adventure."
As they entered the building Mia did her best not to laugh. She had never been to a place where you could fish indoors before. Let alone one that had a pirate ship that people could fish from. "I would've never expected this." Mia giggled as Yunho took her hand gently.
"Well I haven't stopped thinking about this place since you read Peter Pan. I haven't been here in years, but I thought fishing would be fun. Plus we can pretend to be pirates while we fish." he smiled as he paid.
"I've always thought of myself more as a lost boy than a pirate," she laughed, as they followed the employee to their reserved spots on the ship.
"Pirates have more fun." he wiggled his eyebrows, as they started baiting their hooks.
The next hour was full of small talk, to get to know one another. She found out that Yunho Majored in music, he had a love for writing and composing music. He also loved to dance, he loved the way he could portray his emotions and the words in the song by moving his body. He found out she had been studying environmental science, that she wanted to help be the solution instead of the problem. She said she had to take an unexpected break from school last year, and that she was hoping to start again in the spring. Their conversation lulled to a comfortable silence, until her fishing pole started going nuts. She stood, trying to hold onto the pole. "Oh my gosh! Yunho help!" Mia yelled as she tried to reel in whatever had taken her bait. He quickly stood behind her wrapping his arms around her holding the pole with her. When she finally got the fish out of the water they heard music come over the loudspeaker.
"Someone has caught the largest fish in the tank!" The voice echoed around them. As an employee came over and helped them, weigh and take care of the fish Mia ended up winning the grand prize of the day, which was two gift certificates for more fishing, as well as two free ice creams from the ice cream parlor next door. The prizes from Yunho's small catches was a small plush seal, and some jellies.
"Yunho that was so much fun. Thank you." Mia placed her hand on Yunho's elbow as they stepped outside.
"You're welcome, but the night is still young. If you are okay with it, I'd love to treat you to dinner." He smiled as he gently set his hand on top of hers, as they strolled down the busy street.
"I think that sounds wonderful, what do you have in mind?" A content sigh left Mia's lips as she enjoyed the warmth from the sun.
"Well," he started. "What if I told you it's a surprise"
"Usually I would question more, but I am getting hungry" she said, her stomach growling as if on queue.
"Well lucky for you, and your stomach, it's just a few minutes walk from here." Yunho teased, as he guided her to a pizza place, with outdoor seating on the second floor.
"Yunho!" A few employees cheered as they entered the busy restaurant. "We have your usual table ready for you." The Host smiled as he guided the two of you up the stairs, out onto the patio. "Here you are."
"So, you come here a lot?" Mia asked as she sat down.
"Yeah, a good friend of mine works here as a chef. So I started coming here to support him, but I actually really like their pizza." Yunho sat and sighed contently as he looked across the street. "Plus I really like the view of the park from here, it makes me feel a little closer to nature even though we are in the city."
Mia followed his gaze and could see what he meant. It was beautiful here. She watched as two squirrels fought around a tree. Just taking it all in.  Yunho was lost in his thoughts as he watched Mia. The view was spectacular, the sun was hitting her at a perfect angle making her glow slightly as it pitched towards the horizon. The waiter soon brought them some waters, and informed them that the chef prepared something for them, so they had no need to order. Soon they were talking about how lovely the weather had been this week.
"Yunho! I made something special for tonight!" A man with dark hair, sharp looks, and a mole under his eye came over. Carrying a full tray of food.
"Hi, Wooyoung. This is Mia." Yunho gestured, as Wooyoung set the food on the table.
"So this is the storyteller. You were right she's cute" Wooyoung took her hand and kissed it. Mia could feel her cheeks flush.
"Wooyoung, stop. She's my date, not yours." Yunho rolled his eyes.
"What, I can't appreciate beauty?" He scoffed. "I don't know what you see in this." Wooyoung jabbed his thumb towards Yunho.
"I see potential" Mia smiled looking at Yunho, whose ears were tinged pink. Wooyoung just rolled his eyes.
"Well, I prepared Yunho's favorite pizza, as well as avocado salad, and for dessert I have brownies baking." Wooyoung smiled as he rubbed his hands on his black apron.
"Thank you Wooyoung." Mia responded with a slight bow.
"I expect feedback the brownies are a new recipe I'm trying on you two"
"That worries me" Yunho joked, as his friend smacked his shoulder.
----
"Yunho tonight has been just perfect" Mia said as she wiped her mouth with a napkin, to get off any sauce from the slice of pizza she had just finished.
"I've had an enjoyable time as well," Yunho said, before taking another bite.
"I want to tell you something" Mia looked over towards the park, the sun was starting to set, sending golden tones over the trees.
"Anything"
"I'm going to tell you a story, you can't interrupt it ok" she looked towards him, concern painting her face along with the gold of the sunset. Yunho nodded in response.
Mia spun a tale of a young woman who had just moved to a new city. She was full of wonder and hope. She started college and met a man who swept her off her feet. His name was Jay. Everything Jay said was perfect, she felt like she was living in a fairytale. Until she went to surprise him at work one day. Only to find out he had been fired two weeks previously. When she called him, he shrugged it off. Saying he got let go for a stupid reason, and that he hadn't wanted her to worry so he hadn't told her. She asked if he had another job, and he said he did. He had told fanciful tales of what life could be like together, so when her lease was up she asked to move in with him. He seemed tentative until she said she would pay half the rent. Jay agreed, only to have the landlord kick them out two months later, due to overdue rent he never told her about. After they got kicked out, she found another place, and Jay was full of promises again. She told him not until he could be honest and pay bills on time. So he moved in with a friend to help prove he could be better.  After a few months Jay had convinced her he had changed. So she let him move in. When she asked him for his portion of the rent he would say his work hadn't paid him yet, or that he had to help pay for something for his parents. Mia started to see his pattern, she wondered if he really ever had a job, or if he was just using her to have a place to live and food to eat. She was starting to wonder what he had done with the money she had given him previously for rent. She never expected to come home early from work one day to find Jay on their couch, having sex with a complete stranger, money scattered on the coffee table beside them. That's when she had enough. She started yelling, scaring them both, and kicking them both out of her apartment without letting them get dressed. She shoved them out the door and locked it. She then gathered everything of Jay's into garbage bags and set them next to the trash bins outside.
Mia took a deep breath as silence took over the area. She looked at the brownies that had been placed in front of them.
"That is why I tried pushing you away. You came in being charming, and after I started to feel something towards you I panicked. I can't go through another Jay." Mia said quietly as she picked up a brownie placing it on the napkin in front of her and picked at the edges.
"I can promise you that I will never do those things to you." Yunho reached across the table for her hand. "I will be honest, like I promised. Jay was a fool for doing those things to you."
"Can I be honest with you?" Mia asked looking up shyly.
"Of course, I would love for you to always be able to tell me things honestly" his hand felt warm around hers.
"I'm scared. I barely know you, and those I have known have hurt me. I don't trust anymore. I need time with so many things. Honestly I have enjoyed this so much, but I have so many problems. I don't want you wasting your time with me. I'm broken beyond repair" tears threatened to fall with her every breath.
"What are you saying?" Yunho inquired.
"I'm saying you deserve someone who you don't have to wait on. Someone who can love you like you deserve. Someone who you don't have to worry about. Someone who isn't me. You deserve someone better." Her voice shook as she stood up.
"Mia, I like you-" he followed her actions.
"I know, but you shouldn't. You need to find someone who isn't broken." She said as he stepped closer to her, Yunho's arms wrapped around her as they stood next to their table. He remained silent for a moment.
"Can I tell you a story?" He asked. She nodded as she rested her head on his chest. "Once upon a time I fell in love with a girl I thought I would marry. Yuni had all the things I thought I was looking for. She moved in with me, I believed it was going well. The night I was going to propose I came home to find her standing with luggage in hand, all of her things packed. She told me she couldn't handle me anymore. She hated the life she was living, she had been cheating on me with a childhood friend. She was sick of the lies. Sick of the constant music. She told me that I was nothing.  She left me heartbroken in the middle of my apartment, the ring in my pocket seemed to weigh me down. She had destroyed most of my friendships. I sat in my apartment that night realizing that now I had nothing beside my brother and his kids. I was lucky enough to have some forgiving friends who welcomed me back, after I explained how caught up in her I had been.  So I am just as broken as you. I'm still not sure how to love again without getting hurt. But with you I feel like giving it a shot. Maybe we can help each other realize we don't have to be whole to be loved." He was holding her as close as he could. His shirt was wrinking from her tears, but he couldn't care less. He was holding her, he wanted to be her protector. Her arms were locked around his waist, she wouldn't be letting go anytime soon. They were both broken, trying to hold themselves together. Yet in that moment they each felt small pieces of themselves start mending. They held each other as the night grew darker.
"So love birds, did you enjoy the brownies?" They heard Wooyoung say as he stepped outside. They quickly separated, and looked at the table where the brownies had yet to be touched, her eyes grew wide, as Yunho smirked.
"We only ate what we liked," Yunho laughed as Wooyoung's face grew angry. Which made Yunho laugh harder.
"Sorry we haven't tried them yet. We got a little- preoccupied" Mia said as she reached over and picked up her brownie. She took a bite and groaned at the delectable taste. "Holy crap these are delicious!"
Yunho picked up a brownie himself. "Wooyoung this is delicious. Rich, but not over the top, I also like the chunks of chocolate."
"Only one thing would make it better," Mia said, taking another bite.
"What's that?" the chef asked.
"Ice Cream. Make it ala mode" she said covering her mouth as she spoke.
Wooyoung nodded a small smirk on his lips. "I knew I would like you. Yunho this one is a keeper." Wooyoung commented as he walked back into the restaurant.
"Seriously though, can we take the rest of these brownies to go? They are delicious" Mia said, turning to Yunho.
"Of course, but they are coming home with me!" Yunho teased.
"I guess that means I'll be coming over for brownies" Mia smirked as she shrugged.
"I'd like that." Yunho said, stepping forward and enveloping her in his arms once more.
Thursday came quickly, and Yunho picked up Kai and Nami. Kai was dressed in his prince costume from the previous Halloween. It was a bit short but the white outfit with the red sash and cummerbund made him look very sharp. Nami was wearing a perfectly blue Cinderella style dress with her plastic glass slippers of course.
"You dressed up too!!" Nami squealed as she ran into Yunho's arms.
"Of course. There need to be more princes and knights in this world"
"I wish mine looked as cool as yours!" Kai grumbled, as he compared his white outfit, to Yunho's black one. Yunho's slacks paired great with the black straight neck jacket. Gold filigree adorned the shoulders and cuffs, complete with gold trim. Yunho did feel princely, aside from his crown.
"Hey yours looks great little man! I wish mine was red, plus you have a real crown. Mine is paper." Yunho gestured to the paper crown from a fast food place. "Now your majesties, your carriage awaits."
When they got to the bookstore they discovered a cardboard castle leaning against the bookshelves in the story area, and a cardboard throne placed over a chair instead of the beanbag. Yunho smiled as he saw the children all dressed up as princes and princesses. He sat in a hidden corner of the shop, wanting to surprise Mia. Mia entered wearing a full Renaissance dress, the cream bodice was paired nicely with the forest green kirtle which was corseted with green ribbon. The long sleeves flowed behind her with embellishments around the elbows on the sleeve. A small circlet crown of silver leaves sat across the top of her forehead. Yunho felt she looked like she stepped out of one of the many fantasy novels surrounding him. She truly looked like a princess. "Hello" she smiled as she sat upon her small throne. "It is like the royalty from around the world has joined me today, you all look fantastic." She looked overjoyed, as she smiled at each child around her.
"What princess are you?" One of the girls dressed as Snow white asked.
"I am my own princess today. Because I want to read you guys a book my mom used to read to me." She lifted the small book. "The Princess and the Pea." She started reading the tale of a prince who couldn't find a suitable princess. He would find them lacking in princess ways. Until one night a terrible storm came through the land, and a young woman claiming to be a princess sought refuge. The queen was leery of the newcomer and set a pea under many mattresses. The queen did this because surely a princess could tell. When the girl awoke the next day she claimed pain from something in the bed, that made her not sleep well. When the prince saw she noticed such a small thing he decided to marry her. As Mia finished the short story she smiled. "Can someone tell me why I wanted to read that story today?"
"Because you found your prince!" Nami said excitedly.
"Well, I might've." Mia winked as she felt her cheeks flush. "I wanted to read that to you guys, because I feel you can all be princes and princesses."
"But why? Do you want us to sleep on peas?" A small prince asked.
"No. I don't want you to sleep on peas" she laughed. "I feel you can all notice the small things. To me being a true prince or princess is noticing something small, and being willing to change it. You can all do something, it doesn't have to be big. A small change can make a big difference." Her eyes sparkled as she spoke. Yunho could see her passion in her eyes.
"How can I do something though. I'm not big" a girl in a beautiful green gown said.
"A pea isn't very big, but it changed a lot of life's. Maybe start doing something good, like picking up trash when you go for walks. Being kind to a sibling, or even just giving a hug to a parent. Small things make big changes. Like a ripple in a pool. Remember that as the school year starts. Be kind, have courage, and make a difference" Mia's small speech seemed to spark something within the kids. They seemed excited. "OK princes and princesses, we've got a cupcake for each of you. So make sure to grab one before you leave. They are up at the front counter. "
That is when Yunho it was time to surprise Mia. She was watching the kids converse as she stood next to her throne. "Princess, from an admirer" Yunho lifted a small bouquet of cream colored tulips, as she turned to look at him. Her eyes grew big, as she looked him over.
"Yunho, you dressed up!" Mia's eyes shone as she took the flowers with a courtesy. "You make a lovely prince"
"Thank you. So, I heard Nami ask if you found your prince." He smirked, as he pushed his hair back from his forehead. Knocking his paper crown to the ground. "She did." Mia smiled as she set the tulips on the chair. "Well have you found him" he asked as he softly wrapped his arms around her, bringing her close.
"I think I have. Though his crown might need an upgrade." She chuckled as she looked toward the ground. "I think that can be arranged." Yunho lifted her head to look into her eyes.
"I hope so" she lifted her arms to his shoulders, pulling him down slightly. His eyes closed as her lips met his.

May The Odds Be Ever in Your Favor (Hoseok x Reader Hunger Games AU) Chapter 2: Training Day
Tumblr media
Summary - Living in District 4 you never thought you would have to worry about being selected for the Hunger Games. With a training centre right near the dock of the houseboat you lived and fished from, your district was known for volunteers who trained their whole lives for a shot at glory and riches. But at age 18, your name is called and no girls volunteer to take your place. Your devastation is answered when Kim Namjoon volunteers for the males shortly after. Tall, muscular, highly intelligent and charming, the years of diligent preparation have bestowed Namjoon with the expectation of being the next District 4 champion after Finnick Odair last won 3 years ago.
Fishing for a living has granted you skills with a knife but, as your mentor Finnick is quick to describe, your beautiful face may well be your best asset.
Upon arrival in the Capitol you are quickly faced with the reality that Namjoon may not even be the biggest danger inside the Arena. Especially when you capture the obsessive attention of District 2′s own volunteer, and killing machine, Jung Hoseok. Hope soon fades from ‘survival’ to ‘the mercy of a painless death’ but Hoseok certainly has other plans.
Pairing - Hoseok x (fem)Reader
Genre - thriller, angst, yandere
Word Count 7.2K
Warnings - [in later chapters] major character death, graphic depictions of violence, swearing, obsession, dubcon-smut (smut will be marked so reading is optional), gore, unrealistically beautiful oc because I’m a sucker for that shitty trope and want to live vicariously through my writing (sue me)
The following is a dark fic featuring a yandere character, violence, obsession, and coercion. By no means does writing about this in a fictional setting condone any of those behaviours, much like Stephen King writing horror doesn’t mean he approves of psychotic killers in reality. Please avoid reading if any of these warnings makes you uncomfortable.

Training began the following morning at 10am, although when you woke for breakfast at 8 Namjoon was nowhere to be found in your living quarters. Finnick informed you that Namjoon had left to begin early as you elected for a bowl of cereal instead of the array of foods presented on the dining table. To anyone else the spread of pancakes, syrup, pastries, bagels, bacon, eggs, sausages and other delicacies you weren’t even familiar with would have appeared mouth watering. But in your state it all just looked like cardboard. You didn’t trust yourself to be able to keep anything down but knew you had to at least eat something so you wouldn’t pass out later.
You tried to make the most of the one on one time with Finnick, listening as he talked about the range of stations that would be inside the gym. For the most part he seemed to suggest being a shadow to the rest of the careers, “play along and act dumb so they think you trust them and are too stupid to make plans for yourself”. Your best bet of survival relied entirely on them underestimating you and you being able to correctly time when to stab them in the back (literally) before they disposed of you.
Once you finished barely eating, you dressed in the capitol provided athletic wear; a fitted black T shirt with decorative panels of silver and gold along the sides and the number 4 emblazoned on your sleeves, along with a pair of just-below-knee-length black leggings that also featured the same silver and gold design as a strip on the sides. After tightly lacing up your sneakers, and tying your hair into a high ponytail, you took the elevator from the floor of your living quarter down to the basement where the gym was located.
You had no idea what you were expecting, perhaps something similar to the warehouse gym back in 4, but the spacious room that you arrived in was definitely not it. To start with, despite being under ground beneath an apartment complex, it looked like it could easily fit at least five warehouses inside the space. There were so many stations set up you wondered how it would be humanly possible to even attempt all of them within your three-day time limit. There were more weapons here than you had ever seen in your entire life combined; what appeared to be a parkour racing course, a rope climb, fire making equipment, a knotting station, something that looked like a paint set up, a tablet with symbols (what use that was supposed to bring you had no idea) and many other things you weren’t sure of. A large digital clock was mounted in the middle of the wall at the back, near a rock climbing wall, displaying the time as 9:45AM. You tried to swallow down your nerves as you scanned across the room looking for Namjoon. You found him easily at the weight section, bench pressing a large barbell you didn’t care enough to read the weight on. It seemed like a pretty basic scare tactic of trying to intimidate the other districts with his strength, but it didn’t have any impact on you because you were already aware.
“What’s muscles over there trying to prove?” a sudden voice at your side caused you to start, whipping your head to see Krystal next to you. She didn’t quite smile but there was an amused look to her eyes and a little quirk to the corner of her mouth.
“Holy shit please don’t sneak up on me like that in the arena, I will literally die of a heart attack” you exhaled with an awkward laugh at the end.
“Wouldn’t be the most painful way to die in there,” Krystal retorted with a shrug. She looked different compared to last night, but you supposed you could say the same for everyone if you compared them in an elaborate costumer to their gym wear. Her sleek black hair had been braided into two French plaits down the back of her head and secured into twin buns on the bottom.
“Touché,” you agreed but quickly moved to shift the topic away from you dying. “To answer your question Namjoon’s probably trying to intimidate some kids into thinking he’s going to bench press them to death.”
Krystal gave an amused hum before gesturing towards her fellow district mate Yoongi who was lazily sitting against the wall nearby. Training hadn’t even started yet and he looked like he’d much rather be asleep. It was hard to think of him as the confidently spoken cape wearing tribute from yesterday when he was now slumped against a wall. If anything he looked quite adorable.
“We just got here, have you seen 2?”
“No, I just got here myself, Namjoon came early to get extra training in”
You looked around the warehouse again trying to spot a familiar head of copper hair or Athena’s cropped blonde pixie cut but couldn’t see either of them for now.
“If he wants to wear himself out before we even get into the arena that’s his business, but if he pulls a muscle or drops a barbell on his head, I’m not carrying him,” Krystal muttered as Namjoon grunted lifting his weights up a final time before slamming them back on the rack.
“Agreed.” You murmured whilst Namjoon finally spotted you were here and nodded towards you and District 1 in recognition, before walking over. Krystal and yourself both gave half hearted waves in reply, Yoongi looked like he had actually fallen asleep and didn’t do anything.
“Hey,” Namjoon greeted wiping his forehead on his shirt sleeve and taking a drink from his water bottle. As much as you had made light of his workout before the fact he was barely out of breath after lifting more than twice your body weight was pretty intimidating. “Have you seen 2 yet?” You were about to tell him what you had just told Krystal when a raspy voice spoke from behind you
“Speak of the devil and he shall appear.”
Turning around you saw Hoseok and Athena walking out from where the elevators were nearby. Athena looked almost unrecognizable in comparison to her warrior outfit and smoky make up from the night before. Her short hair was pushed back with a headband and her face much rounder. She was definitely shorter without her heeled shoes and her body type much curvier than what her costume showed. Whilst Athena, Yoongi and Krystal all looked softer without their costumes and make up Hoseok somehow still managed to radiate the same aura from the tribute parade. His form fitting T-shirt and pants (in the same design as everyone else’s) accentuate his lithe build. The tights he wore showcase the definition of his calves and thighs, along with how long his legs were. The definition of his abs could be seen through the black shirt and his biceps were on display. It appeared he didn’t need any bronzing powder or contouring make-up to sharpen his facial features; his high nose and cheekbones were still just as prominent and his jawline just as sharp. He ran a hand through his hair, which was disheveled from not being styled, but somehow still managed to look good anyway.
When you make the mistake of looking into his eyes you can see that there was definitely no make up involved in the intensity of his stare from yesterday, it’s still just as unnerving this morning. The corner of his lip pulls up into a smirk as he sees you assessing his appearance and he has no shame running his eyes over your body.
“Nice of you to show up,” Namjoon grunted, clearly not impressed with the way Hoseok was staring at you again.
“Relax we’ve still got five minutes until we’re officially mean to start” Athena said as she stops beside Namjoon. She strikes up a conversation to try and distract him like Hoseok had told her to do. Why exactly she was following his instructions she didn’t really know, but she didn’t particularly care to upset him at this point so she simply played along. Namjoon was easy enough to engage, all she did was ask him what he had been doing to work up a sweat and he immediately leapt into a description of the circuit he had been training.
Hoseok moved to take the spot between Athena and yourself.
“Morning love,” he whispered under his breath, touching your elbow gently and leaning down slightly in a way that’s only intended for you to hear. You shudder at the feeling of his warm breath ghosting against the shell of your ear and curse your body for it’s unconscious reaction.
He pulls his hand away just as quickly, not wanting to draw unnecessary attention, but wishes he could maintain some form of physical contact. ‘There’ll be plenty of time for that in the arena,’ Hoseok assures himself watching as your cheeks flush that same rose color they did last night. He can’t explain why, but something so simple as your blush makes him feel ecstatic. Oh the things he would do to you to see what else makes you flush that pretty color for him again.
“Hey,” you reply, trying not to break the eye contact out of fear it could be taken as a sign of weakness. He’s tall so you need to look up, but you’re not that short either so it’s not a high angle. You’d estimate the top of your head reaching around his nose if you had to guess.
“I’ve been dying to ask this since seeing you yesterday, but what is an angel like you doing at these games?” his voice is still low, but not as quiet as before, as Namjoon continues to elaborate on his morning work out whilst Athena pretends to care.
“Uh same reason nearly everyone else here is, my name got pulled out the bowl,” you tried to casually respond with a shrug but knew the devastation would have been showing in your eyes. There were some things you just weren’t capable of hiding, and your fear at your situation and imminent death was one of those things. “And you?”
Hoseok frowns and you wonder if you somehow said something wrong but then he softly shakes his head.
“Volunteer,” he states and you swallow with a nod, unconsciously shifting backwards a little. His very appearance is lethal so it really shouldn’t be a surprise at all that he’s signed himself up to slaughter people like you, just the same way Namjoon had.
“Right, I mean you’re a career,” you shrug again looking across at Krystal, Athena, and Yoongi, wondering if they were volunteers too.
“Hey,” his hand was back on your elbow again, he didn’t give a shit if the others saw him. The feelings he was already experiencing towards you had just been intensified immeasurably by the fact you were innocent in these games. He didn’t know how to possibly describe it; all he knew was that from all the words that existed, in all of the languages in the history of mankind, there would never be a way to explain it.
He saw the tremble in your body whenever he looked at you, the shudder earlier when his breath met your ear, surely you had to feel something towards him too. There was no possible way that these emotions he was experiencing could be contained in just one body, you had to be sharing this experience. Was this a ‘soulmate’ that he had only read of before in passing regarding outdated literature? He had never been the kind to believe in fate before, as far as he had trained his whole life to believe, his only destiny was to win the games and bring honor to his family. But as you stood before him, for only the second time in his life, he just knew that you had been preordained for him.
At his age of eighteen he had experienced love in some capacity before, his parents, his sister, a few close friends and a couple of girlfriends here and there but none of those emotional connections compared to you. Surely you would feel the same way about him too, but of course as the poor reaped tribute that you were, you were too afraid to be able to focus on him right now. He was furious you were even here, how dare none of the other female trainees from 4 volunteer to save your precious existence. How cruel the forces of the universe were, for gifting him with an angel only for her to be so close yet still so out of reach. These intense emotions were far too much for one person to ever experience alone, so somehow he must be possessing part of your emotions for him, because you weren’t capable of focusing on anything more than survival right now. His poor defenseless angel, how much you needed him right now.
That must be it. A trial from beyond these games where he would have to earn not just this victory but a way to make you experience your love. There had to be a reason why you were here, it’s because it was for him to prove himself worthy of you. Oh how he wishes you could have met outside, after his victory tour when he went to 4 and he could just pick you from the crowd and make you his. But that would’ve been too simple. Yes, a love like this only came once in a lifetime, he was certain, and he would need to move heaven and earth to somehow save himself and you. But there had to be a reason that the universe had put you together right at this very moment. There had to be a way for him to save you both, and he knew he would kill anyone and everyone who got in his way.
“I promised you last night, I won’t hurt you, and I meant it,” he said, squeezing your elbow – not tight enough to hurt – as if trying to implore you to believe him. His hand felt warm and his hold was firm, shooting a tingling sensation down your spine. You tried to suppress the physical affect his touch was having on you, knowing nothing good could possibly come out of any attraction. You hated just how strongly your body was reacting to him, wondering why the hell he was trying to flirt before he would inevitably try to kill you, and why your body was liking it. But even though you were a tribute, ultimately you were still only human.
“Hoseok, you literally volunteered to kill me, it’s fine,” you began as a small voice internally added ‘well it’s not fine really but that’s besides the point’. A look you couldn’t read flashed in Hoseok’s eyes and he opened his mouth to say something, but you continued on before he could speak.
“I’ve seen enough of these games to know how the career pack works. I’ll help you guys and when it comes down to the end I’ll just try as hard as I can. There’s only one winner and look at you,” your eyes were on his torso because you couldn’t bring yourself to maintain the eye contact as you spoke. The outline of his pectorals and abs that were visible through the fabric of his shirt, compared to your barely toned figure in comparison, did all the speaking in that regard anyway. Looking down at his grip on your elbow, you could see how the fingers on his large hand nearly wrapped all the way around your arm. His own biceps would easily be twice the size of yours.
“Look at Namjoon,” you subtly gestured to your much larger district-mate, “and then look at me.” You weren’t exactly unfit, all the years of physical labor from working on your family’s boat had helped give you some muscle definition, but it was nothing compared to a trained killer.
“You don’t have to lie to me.”
“I’m not lyi-”
Hoseok’s objection was cut off by an announcement coming from the other side of the room. It was now 10 am and everyone had to attend a briefing in regards to how training worked. Hoseok scowled at the interruption before quickly dropping your arm to avoid suspicion from the others.
“This isn’t over,” he whispered, as you followed with the others to where a dark skinned woman stood in the center of the room. She introduced herself as Atala and ran through the basics of how the next three days would work. Her commentary about dehydration and infection being as much of a danger in the arena as the weapons was particularly interesting to, you wondered if Namjoon had spent as much time on his survival skills as he did on his fighting in the old warehouse back at 4. You doubted it. You also noticed a window on the wall that your back had been facing when you entered the room, where a room of mostly men in suits with eccentric beards and wild colored hair styles were sitting on lounges. Atala introduced them as the game makers who were here to observe, sending a shiver of disgust throughout your body.
Before being allowed to focus on the stations of your choice there was a tribute wide assessment on four of the obstacles: Monkey bars, a fire making station, a memory game (which explained what that strange tablet thing was) and a one on one physical combat match with a Capital trainer. The monkey bars were first and tributes were to perform in the order of their district numbers. You were mildly surprised by how Yoongi went from appearing lethargic to swinging across the bars with ease, but as a career it wasn’t entirely unexpected. Krystal and Athena both had no trouble and Hoseok flew across the rungs twice as fast as the others. You swallowed a nervous lump in your throat when your turn came, feeling the pressure of being in a career district and having all eyes focused on you. Upper body strength had never been your strong point, and you knew the furthest you would probably be able to get was around the half way mark. The girl from 3 had struggled and fallen off nearly immediately but you still didn’t want to fail, especially not with Namjoon breathing down your neck behind you. Back at home you had needed to climb around the boat before in order to make repairs, which suddenly gave you an idea.
Jumping up to reach the bar, you used the momentum to swing your legs through and up onto the next bar in front. Hooking your ankles under you pulled your legs through the gap until you were hanging by your knees. With your weight now more evenly distributed you were able to pull yourself up and awkwardly climb over so you were then on top of the bars. From there you tried not to look down at the long fall onto the thin mat below and crawled your way to the other end before lowering yourself back down when you reached the other side.
“Unconventional, but effective” the person who was responsible for measuring the times and taking notes muttered as they scribbled down something on their clipboard.
“Not bad, spaghetti arms” Athena nodded her approval, her own arm muscles were probably close to the same size as Yoongi’s.
“Gotta know your own strengths and weaknesses,” you smiled back with a shrug. Your time was much slower than the others – Namjoon racing across the other side in a speed to rival Hoseok, right after you were done – but it was still better than not even being able to complete the course at all.
The other assessments were pretty much non eventful with predictable results. You performed decently in comparison to other reaped tributes but were definitely lacking compared to the rest of the careers. You could also detect a bit of rivalry beginning to brew between Namjoon and Hoseok as they tried to one up the other. Hoseok was the faster of the two to light a fire but Namjoon was quicker in being able to solve the memory puzzle. Both of them landed ‘lethal blow’ scores against the capital trainer in their sparring match (you had managed to land a simulated hit of the heel of your hand to the capital trainer’s nose which had counted as an ‘incapacitated blow’ – not a bad score).
With the mandatory grading over you were then given individual feedback along with suggestions on recommended training stations before breaking for lunch. After all the exercise you couldn’t help but feel much hungrier than you had before during breakfast, and helped yourself to a sandwich, along with an apple and a bottle of water from the provided catering. The feedback had been handed out on a card, in order of the district number, before you were dismissed for lunch, and you didn’t pay attention to where 1 and 2 had walked off to. Wanting to be alone anyway you walked around a corridor into an empty hallway and took a seat on the floor against the wall. Leaning back, you raised your knees and rested your elbows on your legs as you scanned across your feedback card. You noted there weren’t any grades or scores, but merely recordings of the time it took for you to complete the activity and a short written assessment next to each. At the bottom were the suggestions for which areas to focus on over the remaining days.
Your evaluation had described you as ‘a dark horse’. The Capital had picked up on the career’s alliance and noted that you were the physically weakest of the six members, however they gave you commendation for unconventional problem solving during the monkey bars. The primary suggestion was focusing on weapons based training in order to stand a chance of survival when the time came for the careers to turn against one another. There was also a suggestion to train more on agility based exercises that played to your existing skills, rather that bothering with weights or physical strength stations that would be impossible to build in such a short time.
“How did you go?”
The sudden voice and presence at your side, whilst you were intently focused on reading your card, caused you to jump and nearly swallow your last mouthful of sandwich down the wrong way. You managed to just catch it with an awkward choke, reaching for your bottle of water to swallow it down properly. To your absolute humiliation, you looked up to see Hoseok standing above you with an amused look on his face.
“Uh, fine I guess,” you muttered, fiddling with the card in your hand as he sat down beside you. “You?”
“As expected,” was all he replied with. You nodded awkwardly. You had seen him perform before you in all of the tasks and sail through each of them with ease. ‘As expected,’ meant nothing less than perfection for him. You couldn’t help but wonder if your death was going to be by his hand, and if that would just be ‘as expected’ for him as well.
“Let me see your card.”
You opened your mouth to protest, but the words were caught in your throat (much like your previous mouthful of sandwich) as Hoseok easily pinched your card out from your fingertips and passed you his along the carpet in return. Frowning, you picked his up, to at least pretend it was a mutual exchange.
“Did you swap cards with the others?” you asked, wondering why he was interested in your report. You skim read across his, finding commentary about Hoseok’s speed, skill and lethality, along with a note stating him as a lead contender, nothing that you weren’t already aware of.
“Nope,” Hoseok dismissed, lips pursed as he read your card much slower.
You frowned at this, passing his card across the floor and reaching over to try and grab yours back, only for Hoseok to lazily lean to the side away from you, with a hint of an amused smile. You let an annoyed huff of air out.
“So why are you reading mine then?”
At this Hoseok paused to raise an eyebrow and make eye contact with you over the top of your card in his hands.
“Because I don’t care about the others.”
He found the stunned look of confusion on your face to be absolutely adorable.
“But…” you paused, not even knowing what to say. Shouldn’t he at least care for his own district mate? Granted you didn’t care much for Namjoon but you were at least somewhat going along with him for the sake of presenting a cohesive alliance. And if he didn’t care about the alliance then what was he doing here with you? The implication of his statement was quite clear that he somehow cared about you, so what had you possibly done to warrant his apparent attention.
“Why?” was all you could eventually ask.
He lowered your card to the floor and slid it back towards you, leaning across with it. You predictably reached to pick your card back up and he instantly took the opportunity to put his hand over yours. You flinched and attempted to pull back, but his grip only tightened, forcing your hand to remain below his much larger one.
Your pulse began to rapidly accelerate. You knew he couldn’t harm you, not until you were in the arena. But to be alone and so easily caught and toyed with, by someone much more powerful than you, was frightening. You looked up from his hand to his handsome face, trying not to tremble as Hoseok stared back with a lazy smirk in place. The thumb on his hand over yours was softly stroking the skin around your wrist and you could swear your heart was pounding so fast he had to be able to feel your erratic pulse.
“Because I need you to be with me at the end.” His husky voice was a low murmur, as he leaned in closer again. Your hand remained clasped tightly below his
“So you can have an easy kill, because I’m weaker than the others?” you frown, knowing your assessment would have told him as much. But Hoseok was quick with a denial.
“No.”
“Then why?” You pushed, growing frustrated with his indirect answers and your hand still trapped in his. Hoseok only tilted his head to the side and released a sigh, looking highly amused.
“Don’t you trust me? You know I’ve promised not to hurt you darling,” his low voice grew quieter still, barely above a whisper, causing you to lean in so you could hear him better.
“Darling?” You balked at the endearment. Whatever answer you could possibly imagine coming out of Hoseok, it definitely wasn’t that. “Hoseok I don’t know what kind of game your playi-”
“You’re not a game to me.” He cut you off before you could even finish your sentence. Undeterred you rushed to speak again.
“But we’re literally in The Hunger Games and one of us is going to have to kill the other. And you and I both know how much easier it would be for you to kill me, than the other way around.”
“Oh so you find the thought of killing me unbearable?”
He quirked his eyebrow with a smirk and again you tried to yank your hand back in annoyance, but he only moved his grip further up to clasp tightly around your wrist. His long fingers easily wrapped all the way around, as he then pulled your arm back towards him, causing your upper body to lean further forward. Unconsciously you let out a breathless whimper in shock, your faces now so close you could feel his breath fanning across the side of your cheek.
“I… I don’t even know how I can kill anybody. You’re the volunteer here and clearly the better fighter between us so you would easily kill me in a final two,” you whispered, trying to turn your head away from his, only for the side of your face to press against the wall.
“Oh but darling you’re wrong, to kill you would be to kill myself.”
The hand that wasn’t pinning your wrist to the ground moved to cradle the side of your face, his fingers threading into your hair and thumb running along the top of your cheekbone.
“Hoseok, stop.” You raised your free hand to push against his chest, but he was solid as a rock and didn’t even budge. Instead he only curled his torso in towards you, pinning you in place against his body and the wall. You whimpered in fear, eyes scanning the hallway trying to find a way out, only for Hoseok to press his nose against your temple and lips to the shell of your ear.
“You may not even know it yourself but I can feel it in your pulse how your heart calls for me. Every beat I feel beneath my fingertip sings to my own, that already belongs to you. If you were to die, my heart would have no need to beat without the one it beats for.”
His deep voice was a seductive purr as his breath against your ear sent a shiver throughout your entire body. His hold on your face forced you to look back into his eyes once more, which held the same intense passion you had seen in them last night.
“How c-can you even say something like that, it hasn’t even been a day s-since we met?” you choked as you felt tears beginning to sting in your eyes.
“Because I felt it the second I laid my eyes on you, and seeing you again this morning only made me feel a hundred times stronger.
“Please stop, I’m going to be dead in a week so can you please just not turn my life into some sick joke,” it was all you could do to beg as the first tear spilled from the corner of your eye, his thumb below easily wiping it away.
“I’m. Not. Joking,” he hissed, each word punctuated by his fingers burying into your hair and clenching tightly at the roots, causing you to gasp as more tears spilled out.
“You’re hurting me,” you whimpered, the hand on his chest reaching up to try and pull at his hand that was holding onto a fist full of your hair. His grip instantly released, his hand moving to grab onto yours and thread his fingers in between your own, before squeezing tightly.
“Not as much as you hurt me whenever you try to deny me,” he retorted, pulling your hand to his lips to place a kiss upon the back.
“What do I possibly gain from a game perspective to choose you as my final partner? You said it yourself that you’re the weakest so that means I’ll need to protect you from the other four when the alliance turns. And believe me princess, I will. I’ll slaughter every one of them in cold blood. I’ll snap the neck of anyone who so much as harms a single hair upon your head. I’m going to kill them all for you baby, and I’ll make you watch so you can see just far how far I’ll go for you.”
“Why are you doing this to me?” you whispered brokenly, tears spilling freely from your eyes now.
“Because,” Hoseok dropped your hand to grab ahold of your chin as his lips moved in closer. When he spoke you could feel them brushing against yours “you’re mine.”
But before Hoseok could firmly press his lips to yours in the kiss he longed for, a sudden shout broke the atmosphere he had worked so hard to build.
“YN!”
You never thought you’d be relieved to hear the sound of Namjoon’s angry voice barking in your direction, but his appearance around the corner and into the hallway caused you to exhale a long breath you didn’t even know you were holding.
“What are you both doing here?” Namjoon growled, angrily striding towards you as Yoongi, Krystal, and Athena followed behind him.
Hoseok, who had his back turned to their direction, scowled in anger at the disruption, before quickly masking his face to a neutral expression. The sudden change in demeanour causing you to flinch.
“I found this one here having a bit of a breakdown over her report card,” Hoseok said, lazily getting to his feet and shooting you a wink as your jaw dropped in shock at his smooth and blatant lie.
“No! I- I…” You immediately went to protest only for the words to be caught in your throat. It would just be Hoseok’s word against your own. And who would believe you? His words were so insane you could barely even believe what he had just been saying.
“It’s ok YN,” he purred, as the others walked over towards you. You angrily got to your feet wiping your eyes, not wanting to be a crying mess on the floor in front of the whole group. “I was just telling her there’s no need to worry. First day freak outs can happen to the best of us.”
“I’m fine,” you scowled, crossing your arms and glaring at the floor and seeing the damned report card laying on the carpet.
“I just wanted some time to myself and if anything having someone around only made it worse” you bit back.
“Very well then,” Hoseok smirked raising his arms in a mock surrender gesture and waving his hands theatrically. “Excuse me for trying to be a good teammate.”
“I didn-” before you could rip into him, you were interrupted by another.
“Can you all give me one minute to talk to my district partner,” Namjoon grunted at the others. He didn’t bother waiting for an answer, grabbing a hold of the top of your arm and dragging you further back up the hallway. You didn’t know what was worse between him bossing you around since the train ride or Hoseok’s crazy confession, but what you did know was that if anyone else tried to manhandle you again you were going to take your chances on your own in the arena. It had only been one day and you were rapidly growing sick of this alliance. You’d rather die with dignity on your own than be dragged around like a dog’s chew toy.
“Let me go,” you hissed, when you were far away enough not to be overheard, grabbing his hand and ripping it off your arm. Namjoon just rolled his eyes before staring down at you from his tall height.
“What the fuck was that about?” he asked.
For a moment you breathed a sigh of relief. Trying to convince Athena or District 1 about Hoseok losing his mind would be one thing, but Namjoon was your own team mate. You vaguely knew each other from growing up in the same town. Maybe he might actually believe you. Glancing back to the others you saw them chatting amongst themselves, Krystal was now holding your report card and Yoongi gave a dismissive shrug to something Athena had just said. As if sensing your gaze, Hoseok glanced across to make eye contact. The corner of his lip curled up and he cocked his eyebrow smugly as if to say ‘go on and tell him, see if he believes you’. You scowled at him before turning back to Namjoon and grabbing a hold of his arm (missing the way Hoseok’s nose twitched in annoyance at you initiating the physical contact with another man).
“Namjoon, please, you have to believe me,” you began, instantly lowering your voice as you squeezed his bicep imploringly – your hand didn’t even wrap halfway around the much stronger boy’s arm.
“What happened?” he asked bluntly, eyebrows narrowing into a frown.
So you told him. Speaking as quietly as possible and trying to rush through the details as fast as you could, you hurriedly told him about how Hoseok had found you alone and stolen your card, before pinning you against the wall, claiming you were his, and threatening to kill all the others. You finished by telling him how it was only through the rest of the group showing up when they did, that had stopped Hoseok from kissing you.
“It was humiliating,” you hissed out, trying to choke down the lump in your throat that had built up as you were recalling what happened.
“I don’t want to be in the career pack anymore, I can’t do it, not with him.”
You looked up at Namjoon, begging him with your eyes to believe what you had just said.
“Are you out of your fucking mind?”
You dropped his arm and visibly recoiled as if his words had physically hit you. As far as you were concerned he may as well have.
“Some pretty boy spouts some Romeo and Juliet bullshit so you want to leave the best chance either of us have for surviving this thing? How can you actually be that stupid?!”
You were fuming. How dare he just dismiss what had happened to you like that. You had taken a leap of faith, hoping that as your own team mate he would believe you, and instead he had virtually spat in your face as a response.
“I’m not stupid Namjoon!” You sneered. “The one year my name gets called out is the one year no girls volunteer because they knew that you were going to. If the girls who have spent their whole lives training know they can’t beat you, how the fuck do you think I feel right now? Maybe it’s easier for you because you’ve actually got a chance in these games, but I’m going to die. And none of this is my choice, you actually chose to be here! You were the one who said on the train that you wanted us to join the career pack, so I did! And now I’m the one being harassed, not you! Stop treating me like a child because I’m not just a pawn you can tell what to do until you decide to kill me.”
“If you don’t want to be treated like a child then stop acting like a pathetic fool over the first boy to give you some attention. Do you think your pretty little face is somehow special enough for Hoseok to actually fall in love with at first sight?”
“Of course not!”
“You should be thanking me for pulling your head back in from whatever deluded little fantasy he’s trying to spin. Are you that stupid you can’t tell he’s just trying to divide us so you want to work with him instead of me by the time we get to the end game? At the very least you and I know each other and I guarantee you, in that arena it’s better the devil you know”
You wanted to point out how you were the one to tell him about Hoseok, and clearly were trying to work with Namjoon instead, only for him to berate you, but logic was out the window by this stage.
“Is it? Cause it sounds to me like you’re just keeping me around until you decide to break my neck when it’s convenient for you,” you snapped instead.
“That’s how alliances work sweetheart. You watch my back in the pack to make sure 1 or 2 don’t just slit my throat in my sleep. I drag your ungrateful ass around and make sure you aren’t taken out by some amateur who wouldn’t know the difference between a liver and an intestine. Is that how you want to die? Bleeding out for hours after being stabbed by an untrained idiot and spending your final moments in agony? Would you rather die by someone beating your head in with a rock because that’s the only weapon they know how to use? Let’s see how beautiful you are with your skull smashed in huh. Or do you want to go from starvation or hypothermia because you’re lost and all alone?”
You were absolutely stunned. He was expecting you to just follow him around the arena like a little puppy, where the only incentive for doing so would be his definition of a merciful death? Before you could tell him where he could shove his alliance, your argument was cut off by the approaching voice of Athena.
“I don’t know what kind of little lover’s quarrel you two have got going on here” you could swear you heard a warning growl from Hoseok “but get your shit together. We can’t have infighting in the alliance, especially before we even get into the arena. You,” a point at Namjoon, “stop treating her like shit. And you,” a point at you, “Stop looking like you’re about to cry. You’re a career for fuck sake, a cold blooded killer. Even though you’re obviously not, you at least need to look like one to scare off the other tributes otherwise you’re going to be the lowest hanging fruit they try and pick off first.”
You stared blankly back as Athena kept talking. The other tributes. You had been so preoccupied thinking about Hoseok and Namjoon’s cruelty, you hadn’t even considered your position without them. By now you were established as a career in the eyes of 18 other tributes, regardless of if you wanted to be one or not. From the past years of the games you knew that the other districts would take any opportunity they could to eliminate a career that somehow wound up on their own.
You were completely and utterly ruined no matter what direction you chose to go.
“Hoseok, Namjoon, you two are coming with me to the obstacle course run for a few hours. We need to do some teamwork after you two had your little dick measuring contest before in the graded courses. You two need to do something to make it look like you’re unified because right now because that’s something other tributes can exploit. Krystal, YN, and Yoongi will go to the rope tying station so YN can help us with knots and show off that she’s actually needed in our alliance to the others”
Namjoon nodded curtly whilst Hoseok clearly looked more annoyed at the idea of being split from you and having to work with the Namjoon. However, he quickly covered his expression and nodded as well. Athena gave each of them a shove on the shoulder to get them moving and they walked off out the hallway and back into the training compound.
You took a deep breath, grateful to have a break from either of their presence before looking between Yoongi and Krystal. They didn’t seem particularly interested in you, their sharp eyes and beautiful features were relaxed into a neutral expression that only suggested boredom. That was perfectly fine with you. As a fisherman’s daughter you were indeed well versed in knots and grateful for the reprise which would allow you to spend some time on something you were actually confident with.
“Alright, show me where the knotting station is”
Note: This story was originally a one shot in my mind and has now reached a planned 6 chapters. Aha. I suck.
Ideally I wanted the 'before the games' section to just be one chapter, but found it was starting to get too long after this reached over 7000 words and I still have the other training days, final assessment/grade out of 12 and the interviews with Caesar to cover (those will be in the next chapter, with the games starting in the update after)
The concept of the assessment came from the 1st movie where Atala (the woman who does that ‘in 2 weeks most of you will be dead’ speech in the training centre) mentions a mandatory assessment, so I just worked with an idea from that.
This chapter hopefully showcases more of Hoseok's Yandere nature along with establishing just how much or a horrible character Namjoon is (I swear I'll do a better fic of Namjoon as the lead soon).

Heatwave
It’s really hot here in England and I wanted to get back into writing, so I wrote this short lil thing. Also, this is violently English... apologies :)
AU: Sides-Are-English Human AU Pairing: None Words: 736 Warnings: Mention of acne scarring and some Janus being insecure. Anything else, please let me know!
Summary: There’s a heatwave. All the roommates are shedding their usual clothing for something cooler, except one.
--
“Are you seriously still wearing all that?” Virgil asked, accusingly pointing his half-eaten ice lolly in Janus’ direction. All other eyes in the room turned to see what Virgil was talking about.
Janus was wearing his usual attire; hat, gloves, cape and all. The man gave Virgil a once-over, noting the lack of the patched hoodie and that his usual ripped jeans had been replaced with black, distressed jean shorts. He wasn’t the only one with an outfit change. Roman and Remus were wearing vest tops; one white, one black – both of them having their logo plastered in the centre. Patton had forgone his cat hoodie – likely having placed it with Virgil’s so neither would ‘be alone’ – and Logan had finally rid himself of his stick-in-the-mud tie, both having their polo shirts unbuttoned for the most part. They were each sitting as far away from the next as they could, whilst also being in the vicinity of the two electric fans that were rotating between them all.
The heatwave was clearly getting to them.
Janus simply gave a gentle smile in response to Virgil, “Of course, I am – as you so eloquently put it – wearing all this. Why would I not?”
“Uh, because you’re probably gonna die of heat and are sweating like a bitch?” Virgil said simply.
“I’m fine. But you might want to catch that before it drips on the carpet…” Janus gestured to Virgil’s ice lolly.
As the emo quickly shoved the cold treat into his mouth to stop the drip from falling, Patton’s brow furrowed in concern, “Are you sure you’re alright, Janus? It is very hot… You sure you don’t wanna take at least something off?”
Remus snickered and went to open his mouth to make an addition, but Roman was faster. He grabbed a hold of Remus’ wrist and shoved the lemonade flavoured ice lolly into Remus’ mouth, causing the moustached man to choke slightly in response. The twins began to argue a little, giving Janus the out he needed. He casually wandered into the kitchen, grabbed himself a drink and began to head back to his own room.
On his way back to the stairs, he did catch Patton’s eye. Janus gave a slight nod alongside a very small smile in order to indicate that he was fine. It seemed to do enough to quell Patton’s worry and Janus was able to make his way back to his room without any more interruptions.
He stepped through the threshold, placed the glass down on his desk and gently closed the door. His guard fell immediately.
The clasp holding his cape around his neck was unlatched as quick as humanly possible, the fabric falling to the floor only shortly before the hat and gloves followed. Janus ran his hands through his hair, ruffling the sweat-slicked strands in the vain hope that moving it around would help it dry. His free hand was waving back and forth, fanning himself to stave off some of the almost uninhabitable heat that was permeating his entire being. Finally, Janus had to wiggle out of his trousers as they had practically stuck to his legs thanks to sweat, leaving him in his shirt and shorts that had been dug out of his drawers earlier that morning. He slumped down in his chair and tried his best to not make a sound.
This heat was torture. Janus wiped away some sweat from his forehead, only to find that some of the makeup came off on his hand alongside the moisture. He sighed heavily, turning to get a look at himself in the mirror, “Well, looks like I won’t be leaving my room any time soon…” Janus said to his reflection as he watched a couple more beads of sweat roll down his cheeks, leaving streaks in his scale makeup.
Janus didn’t really have an explanation as to why he was so stuck on his aesthetic; he just was. He hated being seen without his hat and gloves or his makeup. He didn’t want his roommates to see his ‘weird hands’ or to see his messed-up hair that he’d tried to cut himself multiple times…. He didn’t want them to see his acne scars or the weird long scratch he had on his cheek. Janus just didn’t want to deal with that. At least, not yet.
The day would come. He knew it would. He hoped it would…
