You drift in and out of consciousness.
Dreams flash through your mind, juxtaposed with reality and hallucinations. You can no longer tell what is true or not, simply choosing to accept them all as you continue falling endlessly into nothingness.
You sit on a rock in a small cove. Men and women clamour around you in the water, tails flickering in beautiful jewel tones as they eagerly offer you all sorts of precious gifts, mother of pearl, a beautiful bouquet of colourful anemone, a silvered shell. You laugh and accept them, your tail shimmering with silver scales under the sun.
You feel a hand holding yours, cool metal brushing your soft skin. A pair of lips, soft and warm, brushes against your temple.
“Wake up soon, alright?”
Storms rage all around you. The sea heaves with massive, turbulent waves, the water grey with froth and lightning flashes. You scream with rage, despair, absolute loneliness and the seas respond, swirling around you as if they’re alive with fury.
There’s someone next to you. He’s reading to you in a chair at your bedside, a book about essential oils distilled from natural plants.
“And the clary sage oil is colourless, with a nutty smell. People say its effects feel euphoric, you know, do you think it’s true?”
You’re at the beach of a small island, sitting in the sand. The blue sea stretches on for miles, not another ship in sight. A young boy smiles and asks for your name. You don’t have one, but you tell him what you are. He can’t repeat the word to you with his tongue.
“Please, be okay. Don’t go without letting me thank you.” Someone sobs, wetness soaking into your shoulder. Another person reassures him quietly, his voice a little more gruff and rough around the edges, but still soft.
A man with green hair, San, you think his name with, dances around the ship wearing nothing but two starfish and a skirt of seaweed.
Okay, that’s definitely just a nightmare.
Someone’s singing. His voice is beautiful, striking high notes with ease and pulling you into the melody of the song. The notes wrap around you like a lullaby.
You’re in a prison cell, the place dank and dirty. In your hands, you hold the cut crystal, running your fingers along the words inscribed into it until you find the catch that separates the chain from the gem. The crystal reveals itself to be a tiny vial, containing a mixture inside that sparkles like liquid diamonds. You close your eyes one last time, remembering the little boy’s face, and swallow the contents whole.
“Please wake up.” Someone whispers to you. He holds your hands against his forehead as he pleads with you, and your fingers brush cloth. “Please, Chin Hae, wake up.”
Chin Hae.
Is that your name?
No, it’s not. I don’t have a name. But I am ****.
Chin Hae?
Hurry and wake up, Ch*n H**.
Why are you calling me that? My name isn’t C*** H**.
Hurry up, hurry up, ****.
Your eyes fly open.
You’re in a bed, staring at the ceiling. For a moment, you stay like that, suddenly uncomprehending of who you are or what you are. Every limb feels heavy, as if you haven’t moved them in months, and when you finally muster the strength to turn your head sideways, there’s a head of green hair there.
You scream.
“Wassgoingon?” The head of green hair mumbles, lifting his head to look for the source of the commotion. His eyes are bleary, tired, until they meet yours, then he freezes in shock.
The two of you stare at each other for a moment.
A word forms on your lips instinctively. “M…” Your voice is rough and scratchy from disuse. “Master?”
The man continues staring at you in shock for another few seconds. Then his eyes widen and he finally lets out a massive scream.
“What’s going on?” A young man with dark hair bursts into the room with a club over his shoulder, looking around for the source of the green haired man’s discomfort. When his eyes fall on you, they widen almost comically.
The club drops to the ground.
“Jongho-hyung?” You ask, and suddenly memories come flooding back to you, sitting in the square with a cream puff in front of you, entering a fortune teller’s booth together. The maknae simply keeps staring at you, before he finally reaches forward to pinch your cheeks.
“Ow!” You shout in pain and bat his hand away, but it’s like trying to move a ship by blowing at its sails. “That hurts!”
His hand falls limply to the side, mouth hanging open in shock. “I’m not dreaming.” He turns to San, who still hasn’t moved from his seat, jaw dragging along the floor. “You’re not dreaming.”
San nods confirmation, just as shocked. You frown. Did you turn into a ghost or something?
Then Jongho tears out of the sickbay before you can ask his what the commotion is, and you can hear him screaming outside. “Everyone! Chin Hae is awake!”
You blink owlishly at them in confusion. Honestly, you just woke up. There’s nothing special about it.
San catches you in a crushing hug, so tight you can feel every rib creaking, but you simply put your arms around him. You’re stunned for a moment, but raise a hand to stroke his back to comfort him.
You feel him sob against you.
“Thank you. Thank you for being alive.” He wails into your sleeve, and your shoulder is damp with his tears. You can barely bring yourself to ask him why he’s crying, confused to as why everyone seems to be overly excited about you waking up. Then it comes back to you.
The whipping.
Captain.
Betrayal.
Wooyoung.
The gunshots.
Blood.
Yeosang.
You force yourself into a sitting position as fast as you can, glancing around the room desperately. It’s empty, except for you. Your heart sinks.
Yeosang isn’t there.
“What happened to Yeosang-hyung?” You demand, turning to your master. “Oh god, is he dead? Did I fail? Did he-”
San opens his mouth to reply, but he’s cut off from answering you when someone bursts in through the door of the sickbay, panting hard and hunched over on his knees. When he finally does catch his breath, he looks up, and then he sees you.
It’s Yeosang.
It’s Yeosang, still looking a little pale and ashen and weak. It’s Yeosang, who looks like he hasn’t slept in days. But it’s Yeosang, who’s blessedly and wonderfully alive, and that’s all the matters to you.
“Yeosang-hyung-”
He takes three steps to cross the room and wraps his arms around you, delicately and gently, as if he’s afraid you might dissolve into nothingness if he touches you too hard. San moves away so Yeosang can take his place, and the navigator stares at you in wonderment. You turn a little red in embarrassment.
“You’re alive.” He says, still stunned. You nod in reply, a sheepish smile on your face.
“Yeah.”
“You’re not a ghost.”
“Mmhmm.”
“I’m not dreaming?”
The way he says the last question, as if he’s so sure that you’re nothing but a figment of his imagination, how he doesn’t dare to trust what he sees in case it’s all a lie breaks your heart. You grip his hand earnestly, warm blood flowing under yours.
“You’re not.”
Then Yeosang is cradling you to him tightly, silent tears running down his cheeks. “Don’t ever do that again, you dumbass.”
A laugh pulls at your lips. Yeosang is swearing, and maybe that’s a bigger miracle than you actually coming back.
“I won’t if you don’t save me the next time.”
Yeosang pulls away from you a little, just to look at you, sniffing as he wipes his eyes with the hem of his sleeve. “I can’t do that.”
“We’ll have a rotation.” You tell him, as you help him dab dry the tears, an amused smile on your face. “I’ll sacrifice myself for you on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends. You can have the others.”
Yeosang hiccups a little through his smile and tears. “No fair, you get so many more days than I do…”
The two of you sit in silence, both of you having gone through the same trial together has forged a bond between the two of you no one else has. Yeosang is smiling so brightly, like a small sun, and you can’t help but laugh at how happy he looks.
Then San clears his throat. “Yeosangie, she needs to change.”
Yeosang glances down at you, only to realise that you’re wearing a thin white shirt over your bindings and nothing else. His face turns cherry red and he leaps away from you, scrambling to avert his eyes with his hands and immediately knocks his nose into the door frame.
“I’ll be going now!” He squeaks, and you laugh at how sweet he is. He glances back at you one last time, shyly peeking through his fingers as a real, genuine smile blooms across his face. “I’m really, really happy, Chin Hae.”
Your breath catches in your throat.
“I know.”
With one last smile, the navigator exits the room, leaving you and San in silence.
Your master stares at you for a long moment. Then he opens his mouth to speak.
“That should have killed you.”
You had known that the moment you’d started the link between you and him. What you were intending to do, what you were trying to get back, and the price you’d have to pay. You had known all of this, and you’d still gone ahead with it anyway.
“I know.”
He fixes you with a stern look, as if you’ve just made a mistake in your healing theory or you’ve done a bandage wrong. “That was the stupidest thing I’ve seen anyone do, and I live with Wooyoung and Yunho.”
A snort forces its way out of your mouth.
“But you did it anyway, and you’re still here.” San smiles gently, his strict facade cracking. He looks so relieved, as if he’s been carrying this weight on his shoulders ever since you attempted the healing. Then something strikes you.
“How long have I been out?”
“About a week or so.” Your master replies as he places a bundle of clothes on the bed. Your eyes fly open in shock. Exactly how close did you come to completely draining yourself that day?
Your master jabs a finger at you.
“I should expel you as my student.” Fear wells up in you for a moment at the thought, but then he shakes his head and smiles. “Get dressed, apprentice.”
With that, he leaves the room.
You change your clothes slowly, your muscles sore and limbs stiff. As you take off your shirt, your fingers brush the silver chain of your necklace.
The words inscribed on it leave your lips.
“I will be with you every step of the way.”
Suddenly, excitement wells in you as you fumble with the necklace, brushing your fingers across the silver, trying to find the hidden clasp. And as though it knows you are looking for it, you find it faster than you thought you would, and there’s a small clicking sound.
The tiny crystal vial falls to the bed.
I want a name, you hear a voice whisper around you, carried on the wind as it swirls around you and fades.
Your mouth falls open.
Because the voice was yours.

⚠️Disclaimer; This is an online journal and any information presented is either UPG or notes from sources
One of my personal goals this year is to incorporate more magic into my everyday life. Because who doesn’t want to do that? Doing so makes life a little less miserable and a lot more fun.
I already do daily tarot, try to meditate upon waking up and pray to the Sun God. I even use the time I make breakfast to reflect and journal between then.
However my Sag sun and Leo moon said “not enough we need more.” So I asked for help from my Capricorn placements to get to work, and so here I am sharing with you what I’ve accomplished so far and hopefully inspire you to add something new to your daily routine.
The First week I spent taking notes, learning the correspondences and what one can do during certain days of the week.

Tuesday; I put a red cloth on my altar and burned basil
Wednesday; I sent an important email for school and burned lavender leaves
Thursday; I continued working on getting organized for college and burned garden sage I dipped in grated clove
Friday; I blared music and sung along which I miss doing since the start of the pandemic, everyone’s home all the time 😡 but I had the chance to belt for once. I also burned sage
Saturday; I did a little spell work and burned a bay leaf
Sunday; I spent time with family and burned a frankincense and myrrh incense in honor of Sunday
The third week I tried to plan my week ahead on Sunday but I find Mondays are better to do so.
The first week of February and week before posting this was a bit, draining. However I still worked with the daily energies, I even planned a self care day for Friday.
Working with the daily energies not only helps you in your magic but can help you in daily life. I’ve done a lot more than I have in the past year. I feel more productive and better as I continue working with the days of the week.
As I continue my journey I hope to incorporate more correspondences into each day and become more organized overall.
Magic isn’t about status or material things, it’s about knowing yourself and what works best. I hope this inspired at least one person; I wanted to start this “learn with me blog” to encourage myself to learn more about my practice and even about myself. If this helps anyone else, that’s even better.
Thank you.

Make it to Christmas (Holding On)
The sixth prompt in 12 Days of Christmas by @zelink-prompts
Prompt List
Words: 1715
Summary: Zelda decides that her children are old enough to hear the story of the Hero of Time and it resurfaces old feelings that never left.
Ocarina of Time, post-Ganon
Zelink-mas 2020  l  Masterlist
“The princess was taken far away from the castle so that she could be safe, and she didn’t see the little hero for a very long time.”
The children blinked up at her with round, sparkling eyes. The tradition of a bedtime story on Hylia’s Eve never faltered, and she heard her children boast about how their mother had the best stories to anyone who would give them the chance. They were old enough now, she believed, to hear the story of the Hero of Time. Her daughter leaned forwards onto her hands, then tugged at the sleeve of Zelda’s nightgown.
“What happened to the little hero?” she asked, her voice high and full of youth and curiosity.
“The little hero ventured into the great, holy temple like the princess had asked him to, and he put the three jewels onto the altar. A grand door opened to reveal the Sword of Legend, but when the little hero pulled it out, the evil king was right behind him!” Zelda grabbed the sides of her son, snatching the little boy up and making him giggle. “The king touched the Triforce, but because he was not pure of heart, it broke apart and the little hero was trapped in the sacred realm!”
“No!” cried the little boy, prying at his mother’s hands.
“Yes!” Zelda replied as she swung him through the air. “And he slept for seven long years while the evil king took over the kingdom!”
“But what about the princess?” asked the girl as she shook her mother’s arm. “Where did she go? What happened to her?”
“You’re getting ahead,” warned Zelda, running her fingers through the child’s hair. “We must focus on the hero for a little longer.”
Her daughter she sat back with crossed arms and a pout on her lips, but she said no further complaints. So Zelda, with a soft and lighthearted chuckle, continued with her story as she placed her son back on the bed.
“When the little hero woke up all those years later, he wasn’t so little anymore. He’d grown into a young adult, and the Sage of Light told him what had happened--that the evil king tore the kingdom apart, and that he needed to venture through five temples across the land to free the other sages. But when the hero reached the Forest Temple, he learned that he wasn’t alone. A Sheikah warrior named Sheik taught him almost every song he needed and guided him to every temple. But Sheik couldn’t go with him inside, for only a hero who bore courage could, so the hero ventured in by himself and was faced with many scary monsters.
“He fought a phantom of the evil king in the Forest Temple, and an ancient dragon in the Fire Temple, and an amoeba in the Water Temple, but he still had two more to go. The Shadow Temple housed a dark creature called Bongo Bongo, and the Spirit Temple held sister sorceresses known to many as Twinrova. But the hero prevailed, and with the Sages free, he could return to the sacred Temple of Time!
“But someone was waiting there for him. Sheik, the warrior who’d helped the hero get this far, revealed himself to actually be the princess in disguise!”
Her daughter gasped and fell backwards onto the bed, throwing an arm over her eyes.
“I knew it!” she cried. “I knew it was her!”
“No you didn’t!” her brother argued, sticking his tongue out. Zelda wanted to laugh, because her daughter was bright and true, and it was very likely she’d guessed it all along. But her brother did not like to be outperformed.
“Yes I did!”
“If you argue, we won’t be able to finish the story,” Zelda warned. “I’d have to send you to bed without the ending—and that’s if it’s still early enough for the White Goddess to pass.”
The children immediately straightened up, looking at their mother with pleading eyes. She almost laughed again, but she knew in order for the White Goddess to make her pass, the children needed to be asleep. The story had to come to an end before then.
“Once the princess revealed herself to the hero,” she continued, “the evil king appeared and trapped her in a glowing crystal! The hero ran to her, but she was already gone. To get her back, he had to venture deep into the evil king’s castle and climb up the tallest tower, where the evil king was waiting. He taunted the hero, but the hero was stronger. He beat the evil king and freed the princess, but the king used the rest of his power to collapse the tower! The princess and the hero had to run as fast as they could to escape, and the castle crumbled behind them.”
“They won!” cried the little boy. “I knew he could do it!”
“But then,” Zelda interrupted, a smile tugging at her lips when his face dropped and eyes widened. “The evil king emerged from the rubble and revealed his true form—a giant pig monster! The hero was forced to fight him again, a second time, but the monster was so much bigger than him that he couldn’t beat it with his sword alone. He had to use light arrows of which the princess had gifted him. She wasn’t sure there was any hope left and she wished so badly that she could help, but the hero continued to fight until finally, the king was defeated for good! The princess and the six Sages sealed the monster in the sacred realm, and peace was restored to the kingdom at long last.”
Her son, whose eyes were bright with the thought of adventure, fell back onto the bed and waved his hands as if he were holding a sword.
“When I grow up, I’m gonna be a hero and save a kingdom!” he declared. Zelda let out a small laugh and pulled the blanket over him.
“You’ll be a wonderful little hero,” she said and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead. His eyes fluttered shut and within seconds, he was dreaming.
Her daughter had moved to her own bed in the meantime and was curled up around a pillow when Zelda approached.
“What happened to the hero and the princess?” the girl asked, staring up at her through tired eyes.
“What happens in every fairytale,” Zelda replied, her smile sad and weak. “They got married and lived happily ever after.”
Satisfied, the daughter rolled onto her side and closed her eyes. Zelda gave her a kiss, then shut the door to the room behind her as she left. The walk to her own bedroom was slow and the holly and fairies that decorated the halls felt foreign to her. Much of the castle felt foreign to her now, and every year stretched her heartstrings so thin she worried they would snap.
In her bedroom, laying in her bed, was her husband. But he was not the hero, and he never would be. It was nothing more than a diplomatic arrangement meant to benefit Hyrule, and the two managed to get along quite alright for the sake of their little family. But her heart belonged far from here, sealed behind the gateways of time with a boy she would never see again. She found she would never quite heal from that time, from her decision to send him back, and she knew that holding on would only hurt her further.
But she sat on the silken sheets of her bed and cradled the Ocarina of Time in her hands as she watched the stars crawl through the blackened sky out of her window. She wondered faintly where that little boy was now, though she was certain he wasn’t a little boy anymore, even if she had sent him back to his childhood. She wondered if he was alive and well, and if he had ventured from the forest yet. She wondered if his granted freedom treated him with kindness and kept him safe. She thought of his soft blue eyes, so bright despite the sorrow and trauma they held, and how it had felt when he turned those eyes on her. She thought of his hands, warm and gentle whenever they would touch hers. She thought of their late night conversations they shared during his journey, when he poured his heart out to Sheik about his worry for the princess and about the horrors of the temples. She thought about the expression on his face when she spoke about sending him back--about his hesitancy and reluctance and horror. She thought about how the thought to kiss him crossed her mind, the thought to pour her heart out, and part of her wished that she had done so. But had she done it, she would not have been strong enough to send him back. She knew it wise to not indulge in things that could not be.
Zelda stood, her steps slow and quiet as she entered the balcony. The winter air was cold and she shivered, but it was something to feel other than sadness, so she did not return inside. She lifted the ocarina to her lips, but she had no song to play.
She knew should she wish to keep her sanity, the best course of action would be to lock the ocarina where she would never think of it again. But it was all she had left of that little hero. The thought crossed her mind, and she wondered if in a different lifetime, they’d gotten their happily ever after. She hadn’t--not in this time, but she hoped that the hero she’d sent back received his, whatever it may have consisted of.
The clock in her room chimed at the change of hour. The twelve soft chimes that followed told her that it was midnight. She did not know how long she’d been standing there. Zelda rubbed her eyes--dry, for she had a sorrow that reached far past crying--and looked up at the stars once more.
“Happy Hylia’s Day, Link,” she whispered out onto the wind, just as she did every year. And just like every year before, there was no answer as she turned and slipped into her bed.

Blog #1
27 May 2021
Buongiorno streghe ❤❤
It is the day after the full moon and it was the first time in a long time that I participated in any sort of witchcraft. I know, tut tut bad on me. I am not sure why I have not done witchcraft (aside from the occasional Bastet offering) in so long. I guess I have just been preoccupied by other things and projects.
I wished to make this blog to document my own activities, share spells, and just have something nice to do. I wish to share my practices with all. That said, please remember that we all practice in different ways and ways that are most comfortable to each individual. Some may disagree with my information, and for others my information may not suit them well. That is okay! We are all special and different in our own ways, and witchcraft is a very personal practice!
Before I discuss what I did during last night's full moon, I wish to introduce myself some because this is my first post. On this blog, I wish to remain completely anonymous because not many people in my real life know my practices and I wish to keep it that way. I wish to work under the pseudonym Fiona Brandybuck. The name Fiona was the name of a special childhood pet and Brandybuck just because I like Lord of the Rings! My mother was a witch before me, but she rarely practices anymore. When she does, it is a shrine to deceased loved ones when the veil is thin.
Because I know many will ask, I am an Aries sun, Capricorn moon, and Gemini rising. I am in my mid-20s but prefer not to share my specific age. I enjoy worshipping the sun more than the moon. While I do the occasional new moon and full moon rituals, I just like the sun better. The sun makes me feel happier and more energetic, so I will often charge objects in the sun and sometimes make sun water. My mother is all about the moon! But I like sun. I do not know what people online define my magic as, but I enjoy doing a lot of protection, manifestation, healing, self love, blessing. I do not like to do love for other people, or love spells to attract, because I do not like the manipulation involved. Only self-love! Because that is more pure and assured and positive. I do not know if this makes sense to others. Some mediums I work with are tarot, pendulum, and crystal ball. But I would like very much to work with oomancy or yolks.
OK! To my full moon ritual last night! ✨
Last night was my first time doing witchcraft since the winter months. I started by smoke cleansing my home with white sage incense and went inside each room three times saying my own protection incantation. Oh, and another important thing is MAKE SURE YOUR WORK AREA IS CLEAN. I always polish and dust and sweep before doing any spell. As soon as the sun set, I go to work!
I did many things last night. First I smoke cleansed the jars I was to use. A gallon glass milk jug for my moon water, a half gallon jug as a gift for a friend, and a small bottle for a personal spell. I always take an incense stick inside of these until it gets nice and smokey, then quickly seal the jar to trap the smoke inside and set it aside.
Next I made a good luck charm from a poker chip I found outside. It was just laying in the grass a few weeks ago and I have the instinct to take it with me and make a charm of it. I smoke cleansed the poker chip then meditated with it between my palms, setting my intentions and thinking of the colors green and gold. For a personal touch, I dripped some green wax onto it. After it was charged under the full moon last night, it is now in my wallet!
I then decided to make a creativity spell! I have been painting a little more lately and wish to continue, so I made my wishes known. Some ingredients I used for this spell were untraditional. I used real art supplies for some of it! Here is what I put in my little jar spell:
Black salt
Myrrh ash from my altar
Green paint
Yellow pencil shavings
Pale blue pastel dust
Thyme
Kitchen sage
Rosemary
Lavender (a lot of it!)
Amethyst
Green Aventurine
I then sealed the bottle with orange wax because that is what I associate creativity with. I finished with a kiss. I do not know if anyone else does this, but I always finish my spells with a kiss! I kiss my letters, I kiss my jars, I kiss my charms, I kiss my jars of moon and sun water. I kiss it all to seal and protect it! I love kisses!
Because the full moon is about acknowledging what you have done and how far you have come, I wrote a letter to Bastet. I wrote about what I am thankful for and what I pray for. But the details are between me and Bastet only! I gave her this letter along with an offering of red wine.
I decide not to do anything with my crystal ball. I do not know why, I did not feel like it. So I opened the jars for moon water, filled them, and put them on my window with other objects that I charged.
I did a tarot reading for myself, which I will share here!
Tumblr media
Here, you get a small peak of my home, ahah. You can tell I like scary things and Halloween! You also can see the poker chip I enchanted.
My reading was what I will be for the next month physically, mentally, and spiritually. I select cards by whatever falls out, which it why there are two mental cards as they fell out together.
Physically: The Lovers upright
Do I need to explain anything here? Passion! Love! Harmony! Honor! Confidence! Physically, I interpret this card meaning that I will love, honor, and cherish my body. I can see this also meaning that more intimate passion may be entering my life, either loving myself or loving my partner. This is always good!
Mentally: The Knight of Cups upright and The Hermit reversed
I received two cards for my mentality over the next month! Both I think apply to me very well and are things for me to cautious of. The Knight tells me to keep in check with my emotions and if I am overreacting or thinking logically. It could also mean that I need to express myself more, but I do not think this applies to me! I find it easy to express all my emotions. I believe this card is telling me to think before I react.
The reversed Hermit is warning me that I am withdrawing from society too much. I see this in myself, and it is hard not to because of this cursed pandemic! But I see what it means because there are other ways to communicate and keep in touch. Perhaps I am isolating myself too much. This can also relate to the Knight where I could be acting rash or hasty in my judgement.
Spiritually: The Hanged Man reversed
Off, ora sono imbarazzato!!! This I think is referring to my negligence in the practice and worship. It is telling me about useless sacrifice and insincere effort. This is a card I hope to force conscious change upon. It, too, is telling me of hasty decisions and an avoidance to deal with my real issues at hand. I hear you!
Something tells me my spirit guides know about my frivolous money spending! 👀 Ahahaha!
I ended the evening by burning three cones of incense with the window open. I burned frankincense for Bastet, some blend called Luna for the moon, and vanilla for myself! I ordered the smoke of these incense to carry out evil and negativity with it out the window! What then? I relaxed and watched a movie as I went to bed.
I did not mention my sigil work! Although it has been on my hand while I type! This post is already so long, this subject is for another time.
I hope those that read my post enjoyed it! Thank you for giving me your time!
Essere benedetto 💖✨🔮

Something Old…
Her dress is spotless white satin glimmering with seed pearls and a flowing overlay of chiffon embroidered with rosebuds. Angela has just finished dressing, and makeup, and had kicked out the well-meaning army of her mother and future mother-in-law and bridesmaids and photographer after the requisite pictures and champagne, just to take a moment for herself. The woman in the mirror glows with excitement and the flush of love, but there’s always a hint of nerves, of the finality of tying oneself to another person for the rest of one’s life. She knows, more than most, anything can happen. Countless tragedies spring from a single blink-of-the-eye catastrophe, or one bad decision.
A knock, a harmonious, familiar voice at the other side of the door. “It’s Jay. Are you decent?”
He looks exceedingly handsome and somehow a bit stately, dressed in pale grey linen with a sprig of sage and ivy— silvery and lush green— pinned to his lapel. It’s not a typical choice for a suit or boutonniere, but it suits more than black-tie would, and he’s holding something in his hands— gleaming silver.
It’s a delicate tiara, wrought branches of metal so intricately worked as to look like the slender stems of living flowers and vines twisted together. Drops of clear crystal like dew glitter against the silver, along with fantastical flowers carved out of jewels— blue irises, pink rosebuds, yellow daisies and red poppies— an effect which should’ve been crass, but when he places it on her head, over the filmy lace veil, she looks like a fairy princess. The metal feels slightly warm and almost alive against her hair, and she smiles up at this surrogate brother, this forever friend. “How did you know I’d looked in every single boutique in this city and couldn’t find anything?”
He grins, and the stately, somewhat remote look vanishes. “Well. For one thing, this is super old. But I am firmly of the belief that it will bring you good luck, you little ball of sunshine. I brought it out of storage.”
She thinks art nouveau, circa 1920’s, perhaps out of a safety deposit box somewhere in a bank. He knows, but doesn’t say, that it had been wrought by the masterful hands of his clan’s greatest artisans, in moonlit smithies high up in mist-shrouded mountains back before the first ships had ever even crossed the ocean, blessed by starshine and magic and centuries’ worth of romantic hopes and dreams. She just knows that it fits perfectly, and her eyes shine a bit brighter in the reflection, and she reaches up, impulsively, to give him a hug. “Something old, right? Thank you.”
“I wish you all the best and brightest of this world’s blessings, my friend.” He presses a brief, grave kiss to her forehead, right under where the metal meets skin, and it feels like the strangest of benedictions, almost solemn and formal. But then he steps back, and he’s Jay again, and he makes a cheeky comment about how beautiful she looks and how Adam is going to swallow his tongue when he sees her, and he leaves as quickly as he’d come on quick and silent feet.

Something New…
The blind date with Jareth’s friend had gone surprisingly well. Zhen, with his indolent green eyes and roguish smile, is well-spoken and courteous, with an almost-dangerous way of looking and listening to a woman as though he’d been waiting all his life for what she had to say at any given moment. Raina considers herself immune to such foolishness for the most part, but that Jareth considers him a friend is a point in his favour. It’s unspoken, but not unknown, that she and Jareth are both a bit out of the realm of the ordinary mortals who surround them.
When she’d mentioned the wedding, he’d cheerfully agreed to go as her date. “I love weddings. Such an optimistic sort of atmosphere, no? Whatever storms the happy couple may face in the future, for today they are deeply in love, heads and hearts full of rose-coloured dreams and hopes. And then they almost always have fabulous food and delicious cake. That cannot be overstated.”
She’s not as optimistic, perhaps, about the concept of marriage. But she rather likes Adam King, out of her colleagues at the hospital. He’s intelligent and capable, as is expected for his profession and academic record, but furthermore, there’s a soul-deep, untarnished light of compassion and empathy in the blue of his eyes. He had not become a healer because it was his birthright, like her, but because he genuinely, in his quiet, mortal way, felt and wanted to heal the pain of his fellow humans. It stirs a long-dormant feeling of fond protectiveness in her, and when she and her date go to wish the happy couple well at the start of the reception, she means it genuinely.
Zhen looks keenly interested in the proceedings, and though she’s quite sure that neither the bride nor groom had ever met him before, he greets them both with the cordiality of a socially-adroit man intent on befriending them both. He had not brought a gift-- (she had picked a popular programmable coffee and espresso machine out of the online registry, knowing Adam’s fondness for mochas)-- but he’d brought a card, and tucked in a scratch-off lottery ticket. He hands it to Adam, in person, rather than adding it to a pile left somewhere, and the groom opens it, reads the message aloud.
“Best of luck with your love and your lives together. Blessings upon you both.” It’s a nice enough message, and written in exuberant flourishes of looping script. Good-humouredly, Adam claps Zhen on the shoulder, and scratches off the silver wax on the lottery ticket, then his eyebrows shoot up to his hairline as he scans the ticket again.
“Did you win something?” Zhen inquires pleasantly, his lazy smile playing across his lips.
“Three matched sevens across, and then these two numbers mean…” Adam furrows his brow, and glances around before lowering his voice. “I’m not much for playing the lottery. But if I’m reading this correctly, did I just win $5000?!”
“Well, well.” Zhen’s voice is low and pleased as an animal’s purr. “How lucky for you, my friend. I do think that is a fantastic beginning to your new life together, wouldn’t you say?”
Raina hears pleasure and something close to triumph in her companion’s voice, but not even a little bit of surprise. This man, with his scintillating gaze and effortless charm, is much more than he seemed. She’d have to keep an eye on him.

Something Borrowed…
Linden Thorne does not often work in the role of caterer, but on impulse, she had accepted to provide both the cake and food for this wedding, and she had found herself pleasantly surprised at how much she’d enjoyed it.
The bride and groom were perhaps two of the most pure-hearted, genuinely good mortals that she had ever come across. A doctor and a social worker, both working tirelessly to help and heal the physical and emotional damage of any of their fellows that crossed their paths-- and humans are a fragile lot, indeed. They had been pleasant, easygoing, not at all demanding, and so deeply in love that both of them all but glowed with it. The bride especially, with her boundless energy and equally irrepressible sweet tooth, took particularly well to any and every thing that Linden had her sample.
So, she’s not entirely surprised when Angela-- who had been Angela King for all of perhaps an hour-- peeks into the kitchen area where the wedding reception is taking place. Linden has a half-dozen sous chefs and assistants putting together delicate canapés with the efficiency of a battalion following the directives of their commanding officer: a lanky young man is on top of a step-stool putting the finishing touches on the top tier of the wedding cake-- translucently thin slivers of gold leaf, velvety rosebuds in shell pink and scarlet, a woman with a severely pinned bun is garnishing exquisite smoked salmon toast rounds with glossy black caviar and eyelash-thin fronds of fresh dill. The bride, still in her gown though sans veil, grins at her with a good-humoured yet half-embarrassed look that Linden interprets in an instant.
“You’re starving, aren’t you?”
“A bit, yeah. I had a salad last night for dinner. Then it was my fault this morning because I was too excited to eat. But now I’m shamelessly begging in here like I have no sense. You can totally tell me to buzz off.”
Linden finds herself laughing, unoffended. “It’s your wedding, so it would not make much sense for me to tell you to buzz off, wouldn’t you agree?”
“But you’re busy, and this is probably rude of me, so…”
“I will forgive it this time.” Linden steps away from the buzz of activity, digs through the pantry and fridge. The bride is a silly, bright-eyed slip of a girl, sweet and pure as vanilla buttercream, and if the world has yet to break her spirit, who was Linden to take that onerous task into her hands. She cuts two slices of rye bread, then adds Dijon mustard, peppery arugula leaves, generous slices of red tomatoes and sharp cheddar and cold chicken breast. A sandwich is probably the least glamorous meal that she could have put together in that moment, but the girl’s eyes light up like stars nonetheless.
Linden, with an indulgent smile, slips her own chef’s apron off of her neck, and carefully ties it over the bride’s flowing white gown. “Okay. Eat up.”
“Oh, God, this is the best thing I’ve ever had, and I know I’ll be saying that again like twenty times tonight after everything else you’ve made, too,” Angela says in between bites, looking like a mischievous fairy princess who’d snuck down to the palace kitchens in that borrowed apron. She finishes the sandwich with rather unladylike haste, but then gets up, with her usual endless energy, and reaches up to give Linden a hug. It’s such a human gesture-- warm and impulsive and sweet and unexpected, and Linden pauses awkwardly before returning it.
“Feel better now?”
“Oh yes. Thanks for the apron. And the sandwich. And everything.” Angela slips the apron off, mussing her hair just the faintest bit, then beams up at Linden again. “I really hope that you’re as happy as I am today. Forever. Does that sound silly?”
Forever is a long time, far beyond the scope of what this silly mortal bride could fathom, but Linden knows that the bright-eyed, perhaps foolish girl means it with every beat of her kind and affectionate heart. And so she lets the genuine goodwill of the wish warm her spirit, like a borrowed candle shining valiantly on a dark night, far after the party is over and the bride is well on her way to her honeymoon.

Something Blue…
The late September breeze filters through the tall, slim boles of a tall aspen decked in autumnal gold outside on the grounds of a Manhattan church, the sound soft and gentle as whispered prayers. Inside, a wedding ceremony is taking place, a young man and woman exchanging their vows to their God and each other to live the rest of their lives together in love and unity and devotion.
Contrary to popular belief, Kafziel does not spend the majority of his time on the premises of churches in the city. But this morning finds him on the rooftop of this particular building, a stalwart sentinel visible only in the fleeting, ever-changing reflections of the panes of the intricate rose window in the facade of the building. Of course, there is no one around to see him-- all the visitors to the church are well enough inside to watch the happy couple getting married.
Kafziel knows, of course, the history of the bride and groom, as he knows the history of every other man, woman and child currently living in that great city, and even by his exacting standards, both of them live decent, upstanding lives above reproach. Neither of them were born here; indeed, the young man in particular had been the product of a most unpromising beginning. And yet, they had found their way here, and to each other, and flourished in love and light and goodness despite everything which might conspire to tarnish the kindness of two such spotless souls.
The pane of leaded glass reflects, at that moment, a face of stark, stern beauty and foreboding. “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.” The words are familiar and easy, but Kafziel knows, more than any, of the way great darkness follows great light with dogged, demoniacal tenacity. There is a chill in the air; winter is coming, and with the frost portents sharp strife, perhaps even great trouble. Those who would engender all which he abhors would feed, frenzied, upon the darkest, basest impulses and sins and actions. The happy couple who are even now enjoying their first kiss as man and wife have no idea that their union portends any number of potential catastrophes of a dark and sinful world rebelling against their very radiance. Kafziel’s reflection squares its shoulders, firms its grip on the mighty, fire-tipped sword that throws jewel-like beams of light through the stained glass into the building.
But even as he braces himself for what must inevitably come-- perhaps a day, or a month, or a decade from now-- he feels the presence of others crowding in, like a ragtag bunch of plucky soldiers summoned to a war they might have no call to fight and yet taken on with every bit of courage as such a troop might muster. The chaotic whimsy of a shifter. The primeval fire-and-wildwoods magic of a nature goddess. The calm, steadfast wisdom of a healer and the tireless, graceful agility of a brace of wandering Ælf-kine. Others, too, all gathered here, converging by luck or fate. Kafziel pauses, and allows himself a faint, almost-hopeful smile, and overhead, the sunlight breaks through the clouds as the sky turns a brilliant blue.

Product Review - Shop Til You Drop!
Tumblr media
by Kendra
There are so many gifts you can give a pregnant woman or mama-to-be. When shopping online it is hard to know what will give you good quality for your value. Sacred Surrogacy recently reached out to us and asked us to review a bunch of their products for pregnancy and postpartum and we were happy to oblige! It is funny because we are inundated with so many places to purchase things (especially online) that sometimes you don’t look in a place that might not be your first go to (ie. Amazon, indigo etc.) and sometimes that is where you can find the most magical of gifts.
Sacred Surrogacy is a movement that helps intended parents, surrogates and egg donors find deeper connections on their journey not only to each other but to themselves. They offer online classes, weekend retreats and box subscriptions. It is not a place I would have thought to look for gifts for myself when I was pregnant or for my friends but let me tell you, if you don’t have a peek at their store - you are missing out. They have beautiful gifts for you and friends, pregnant or not!
For all of the products we are reviewing today, click the link beside the price to shop! Or to view everything they offer, click HERE!
Now.. onto the fun part - reviews!
Lip Balm
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
This was the first thing I tested, of course ;) and, umm.. this stuff is LOVELY. Smooth on your lips, the shea butter flavour is subtle and not overpowering and it stays on for a while. Love this product and its only $2.50!! Super sleek look as well. The only catch is it’s not pocketable, meaning it’s too round and large to keep in your pocket, a purse or desk drawer is better and this might just be me but sometimes its hard to close.
Cost: $2.50, to shop click here.
Belly Bind
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
Its soft, long and easy to use once you know how to wrap yourself. A belly bind is used to wrap your abdomen snuggly to help with the healing postpartum process. Its typically done within the first week of postpartum and goes up until about 40 days after your birth. This is a great gift for yourself if your pregnant or a mom-to-be. Keeping those muscles close together helps them to heal quicker and you will feel more secure as you move around your day and look after your little one. It’s like wrapping yourself in a hug! You can do it on top of your clothes or under and this fabric is nice and lightweight so you won’t be too hot.
Cost: $14.99, to shop click here.
Click here to see a great video to show you how to wrap yourself!
Meditation Shawl
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
Its always lovely to sit back and meditate on life, on what you are scared of, looking forward to or just to give yourself a few minutes to recharge. Re-centering ourselves is so important – pregnant or not! This is a beautiful gift to help someone do just that. Its soft, lightweight and beautiful. At 74 inches long it’s easy to wrap around yourself while you are sitting to help keep you warm or it is long enough to double as a scarf! One side is hemmed and the other is left raw which makes the shawl look delicate. Lightweight enough to use in the summer and it comes in a variety of colours! This one is the pink shawl.
Cost: $7.99, to shop click here.
Yoni Mist
Here is what is looks like:
Tumblr media
You will hear lots of people tell you to use padsicles. They are amazing, let me tell you, but it’s a bit annoying remember to go to the freezer every time you want to go to the bathroom and need to change your pad, especially when you are sleep deprived and it’s the middle of the night. Yoni mist can definitely have the same healing effects without having to go to the freezer. This spray is great to use on your pads or diapers (whichever you chose to wear after birth) to help heal and sooth your perineum. Just keep it in the bathroom and spray as you need. Made with distilled water, rose water, witch hazel, aloe vera gel and lavender essential oil it is the perfect combination and easy to use. I’m personally not a huge fan of the smell of rose water, which is what this smells the most like, but that comes down to personal preference. I personally would prefer it smelled like lavender as rose water reminds me of my grandmother’s perfume! The cost is super-efficient and this size of the bottle makes it easy to stash in your purse or diaper bag when you’re on the go which is a huge bonus in those early days.
Cost: $4.99, to shop click here.
Connection Postcards
Here’s what they look like:
Tumblr media
With a simple, lovely design these postcards are great to send to, well, anyone really! They have great messages like “thank you for being amazing!”, “you are the best”, and “sending you a big hug”. Who wouldn’t love to get that in the mail? Personally, I love getting traditional mail and send notes back and forth with a few friends. These would be perfect to brightened someone’s day, pregnant or not and they are nice and large so you have lots of space to write.
Cost: $10.00 for a set of 6, to shop click here.
Sitz Bath
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
If you don’t know what a sitz bath is, visit our previous blog post to learn all about it here - http://doulacollective.tumblr.com/post/121020274489/sitz-bath. It’s so nice not to have to make the sitz bath yourself so this is a lovely gift that makes it easy for a momma after birth. You get three for the price, which is awesome. It smells lovely and consists of calendula blossoms, lavender, witch hazel leaves, and Himalayan pink salt. All the things you need to help heal your perineum and relax. If you haven’t tried a bath, it’s a perfect way to give yourself a break and take some time to recharge.
Cost: $11.99 for 3, to shop click here.
Sacred Space Kit
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
This is a really neat little kit. It comes with a candle, two dissolving papers, a fertility goddess charm, a mini salt bowl with salts and a description card. The candle is non-scented so easy to use in any space. The idea is to light the candle, pour the salts into the bowl and feel the intentions and love of those who manifested before you and to put your own dreams and hopes into the universe. Then write your fears onto the paper, you can place the paper in water or carefully burn it on the candle to release your fears and let go. The fertility goddess charm (not pictured above) is there to remind you of what you are doing and to reconnect you to your divine self. The salts smell wonderful and include bits of lavender and rose petals. This would be a great little ceremony to do for yourself or a loved one, especially for those who are preparing for birth or going through a change in your life. It can be a great release to get ready. It is also super affordable for what you get!
Cost: $10.99, to shop click here.
Throat Chakra Kit OR Celestite Crystal
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
Currently the throat chakra kit only comes in the parent communication box. This kit is intended to help you communicate freely by opening your throat chakra with a celestite crystal, essential oil and affirmations. You hold the crystal in your hands and repeat the affirmations provided. You can dab a little of the essential oils onto your throat to help you relax and be open. Make sure you give them a sniff as they are divine. If you purchase the box soon you will receive a roll on bottle which smells a lot like roses but if you purchase it down the road you will likely get the newest version which comes in a tin made with a beeswax balm that has sage, lavender and coconut oils. The beeswax is my fav out of the two, but as we have already established I’m not a huge lover of the smell of rose water. That said, the longer it stays on my skin the softer the smell gets and the more enjoyable it is to me. Both absorb into your skin nicely and both have an instant calming effect. If you don’t want to purchase the box, just the crystal is available for sale here.
Cost: Box is $49.97 or just the crystal is $14.99, to shop for the box click here.
New Beginnings Mala + New Beginnings Bracelet
Here’s what they look like:
Tumblr media
These were by far my favourite things to receive to review. They are beautiful, made out of peach moonstone which is known as a feminine stone. It brings out the best in people, supports the heart as it stimulates the mind and soothes anxiety. It is also known to help you embrace the ebb and flow of female hormones. Wearing these has definitely helped bring a calm over me. I also get complimented on them every time I wear them. I love how both of them are made. Often you will see where the string connects on bracelets but this one is carefully hidden within a bead so it is seamless. Three of the beads on the bracelet are polished and the rest are not. I love the rawness of both of them. Not all the stones are perfectly round and some still have little sections missing out of them and they look like little geodes (see very right picture above). They glisten beside the matte of the outside of the stone to create beautiful little details.
They also have other options including a hemsa mala bracelet (with smokey and rose quartz, amethyst, white howlite and hematite), a letting go mala (with brown agate and fossils), a nourishment and comfort mala (with rose quartz and amazonite – one of my favs) and more! Prices range pending the stones.
Cost of the new beginnings malas: Necklace $60, Bracelet $20, to shop for the bracelet click here and for the necklace click here.
Sacred Tea
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
I love tea, and I love rooibos. When I was pregnant it totally saved me as I used to drink mainly black tea. Rooibos is safe to drink during pregnancy. I hesitated when I opened this tea because it says orange on it and I’m not the biggest orange fan, especially when it comes to teas, however, it is soft and subtle and so delicious. Its not overpowering in a, I will only drink this in the fall or winter way. I have been drinking it over the summer, even in the heat. It’s totally delicious. You can also make the tea and pour it over ice to make iced tea which is super refreshing! This tea can be found in most of the boxes offered or in their sacred tea kit which also includes a mug, a travel tumbler, a reusable tea bag and a key chain!
Cost: $35.00 for the sacred tea kit, boxes vary, to shop click here.
Now onto the items specifically for surrogates...
Surrogate Pregnancy Planner
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
This gift is specifically for surrogates. It’s a beautiful crafted planner that guides you through your pregnancy from appointments, to the size of your baby, to what essentials oils are great but more than that it connects a surrogate to their intended parents. It’s a great gift to give them after the surrogacy is completed and a great keepsake for both.
Cost: $14.99, to shop click here.
Key Chain
Here’s what it looks like:
Tumblr media
I always say, love your tribe and if you have chosen to become a surrogate, that is one hell of a tribe to be part of so you should wear it proudly. This adorable key chain is a lovely reminder that you are doing or did something amazing for someone else. Super affordable, lightweight and I love that its wood – another little reminder connecting you to the earth. They also have other items to help you show off your tribe!
Cost: $2.50, to shop click here.
Again, here is the store if you want to see what else they have. I highly recommend heading over if you are looking for something for a pregnant loved one or if you want to treat yourself!

✧ *.🎄Yule Solitary Rituals🎄*✧
As the days grow darker to the shortest day of the year and the frost creeps on the skeletons of dead leaves and flurries seep into the streams of howling winds, we know we are reaching Winter Solstice. Though this is the darkest point of the year filled with frost and shadows, it is the time to fill the night with thousands of lights and celebrate unity, blessings and rebirth since the days will extend slowly as we enter the new year. To celebrate life and longevity in a moment of darkness we decorate the home with plants that keep its prosperous green and red colors. Pine, cedar, holy, mistletoe, rose hips, cinnamon, chestnuts, pine cones and winter fruits. (Interestingly enough plants like pine and rose hips are packed with vitamin C and can be used in healing teas!) This is also a time to gather together with loved ones and share what you have in a time of rest and stagnancy. Though it would be ideal to gather with a circle of intimate people this post shall focus on solitary practices of course!
A lot of us witches practice alone and have our own solitary rituals for each sabbat that we observe (or the ones we’ve created just for ourselves that we observe alone!) Like any solitary eclectic witch I do things my own different way but some of these things might line up with others practices. I do refer to some of the equinoxes/solstices/crossquarters by their celtic sabbat names but I celebrate them in a secular animist way and I treat the wheel of the year as a an argrarian cycle celebrating nature. I use sabbat names as a point of reference and also people that do celebrate these witches sabbats more traditionally might find value in my personal practice!  Here is my personal correspondences post and my personal Yule tag!
When I am alone and casting spells a lot of it is visualization/intent so my solitary rituals are more like activities I like to do then specifically casting a spell. If I am doing a spell with an activity based on it a lot would be listening to music to get in the mood and focusing on a candle while visualizing for a period of time! Eves are also important to my celebration as I like to stay up until midnight and cast a spell then!
Winter Solstice's Eve
Wednesday December 20th 2017
Make a Pot Pourri ESPECIALLY if you have a cauldron, fill it up with all kinds of winter magic! Pot Pourris could make a great base for a spell! You can add all sorts of ingredients and maybe slip a paper with written wishes to be manifested inside. If you are very sneaky and a closeted witch it would be a great activity to do in the home! Add orange zest and rose petals for vitality and energy in winter! Put Rosemary and Rose hips for health. Add Pine or Cedar for prosperity! Put in mint and cloves for purity and keeping the space cleansed. Maybe don't add all the pairings I've mentioned in this bullet point, yet consider that each ingredient has it's own magical correspondence! There are great pot pourri recipes online. I like this article for some simple ideas!
Decorate your Altar This is a great activity especially if you live in a house hold where you can't express your spirituality throughout the home and have to confine it to your space. Decorate your altar with the plants of the season! It will smell incredible if you add cedar, pine or cinnamon and look beautiful with holy, rose hips, mistletoe and pine cones. Add peppermint for joy and luck and buy a little string of LED lights to wrap around it or make yule tea lights if you want something non electric. Burn peppermint, cedar, cinnamon or sandalwood incense and make your space jolly and merry!
Grow (borax) Crystals Borax is super fun and non toxic and you can grow crystals overnight! What you will need is a box of borax, a pot you can use for crafts and some white pipe cleaners. You can make a pipe cleaner 'skeleton' for a tea light holder or make snowflake pipe cleaners for the borax solution. Here is a great tutorial on borax crystals. If you add food coloring you can change the color (it will nearly always come out as light pastel unless you add a lot but I like the white color for this sabbat anyway).
Make Sigil Snowflakes Design spell snowflakes by drawing a thin sigil, then folding a paper up into triangles and drawing your sigil on the final triangle. You will have beautiful snowflake designs with amplified energy to hang in your windowsill! (I like this quick tutorial for ideas).
Bake! Winter is the ultimate baking season and it makes the home smell great and you can indulge for the winter! Create delicious treats like ginger bread cookies, cinnamon rolls, red velvet cupcakes or even a mini yule log! You can also make poppets in the form of cookies or spell cookies in shapes of Yule trees (prosperity), ginger bread men or animals (if animals to maybe acquire some kind of quality that animal has to help you in your journey), or stars for joy!
Offerings to Nature In this dark part of the year when you give back it can make an impact. Make pinecone bird feeders (of pine cones you've collected in nature please don't use the craft store scented ones), Orange bird feeder, or treats for the fae. You can make beautiful sun catcher ice sculptures to decorate your balcony or garden with (1 , 2 ). Leave meringue mushrooms or holiday sweets for the spirits!
Spell Baubles Make some spell baubles! Like the way there are spell jars, you can fill these baubles with certain desires and decorate your altar with them.  Also as a tip, if you buy the large baubles, keep the ingredients dry so you can add an electric tea light inside and make them spell bauble lanterns! It will be a wonderful decoration in your space when the night is so long.
Smoke Bundles for Cleansing Many of the seasonal fir plants can help cleanse the air! I'd suggest cedar, cinnamon, rosemary, sage and pine. Yew is toxic though I have absolutely NO IDEA who would even decorate their home with yew?? Why? But I could see the confusion occuring only if someone was harvesting pine in the wild and confused it with Yew. It's good to be able to tell apart the difference between Yew and other pines and make sure to avoid it!
Make Scented Candles I made this post years ago and I believe some links are broken (but also my instructions are sketchy cause this was when I was just learning how to make candles so don’t pay attention to my instructions anyway haha the ingredients are what matters), but you can be creative with scented candles! Winter solstice is a great time to make the home smell jolly and be creative plus you can add spells in it! Here are some of my favorite candles that you can find inspiration from! 1- spell pillar with things ontop  2- frosty pillars  3-Pillar with things around it  (also my own when they are lit).
Make blessed crafts for friends! If you have witchy friends or friends that respect your practice you can make them cute charms for gifts in the winter! This can be a combination of things above like a scented votive candle, a smoke bundle or a crystal tea light or:
Make a Magical Ugly Winter Witch Sweater: We all need sweaters this time of year but also simple stitching, beading and embroidery is much easier than I thought and I ended up having an idea to embroider some cute tacky witch things on sweaters and make some enchanted sweaters! Michaels and other bead shops in the city sell crystal beads and you can sow stitch magic into it! I am making some for some witchy friends with flourite, amethyst and rose quartz beads as a gift for the winter solstice. If you have some sweaters you'd like to magic-afy but not ruin with kitschy-ness, you can still sew some crystal beads on the inside or in a place that it will not scratch you.
Fill the home with Music! This is definitely the time of year we need cheer within the home! Some music I love for the winter solstice is the Nut Cracker. I also love ambient winter sound tracks like this one that’s very meditative or more mysterious like this one. There’s a lot of winter fairy music on youtube. Look up any Gothic Winter instrumental music and you will find a lot of tracks. There is also Katrina Skye who is super cheesy but she is so cheesy it's charming. Her music tends to be very wiccan though.
Midnight Spell: Winter Solstice is wonderful to do a spell focusing on reviving something for the new year. If there is something you want to bring to life again, an old hobby, an old connection, an old project or goal or dream, you can focus your spell on that!
An activity could be lighting a sparkler envisioning it to ignite the spirit of life and revive you. Pass it around your head, around your body and between each leg (like how you would cleanse yourself with sage or palo santo). Pass it over your magical items and crystals to charge (make sure it's not near anything that's very flammable though). Sparklers can give off a lot of smoke so I would not recommend this if you live in a smoke free environment.
Put to rest As we descend into the slower restful part of the year it would be wise to use this time to focus on goals we want to accomplish for the next year and slow down or halt other issues we want to put to rest in order to focus on ourselves, whether it be bad habits, people that won’t allow us to grow, or locations we keep finding ourselves that are unhealthy. Write down these obstacles on a piece of paper or cardboard, put it in a container full of water and place it in the freezer in order to 'freeze' these things.
Yule Day
Thursday, December 21st 2017
Ice skating Even if you are alone, ice skating on the first day of winter is pretty magical! Set up your favorite magical winter playlist on your ipod or invite a friend and glide away on the ice! The best is if it's an outdoor rink!
Setting up lights It is the shortest day of the year therefore being the darkest. To elevate your space, set up many colorful lights for a magical experience! If you have a space you can have open flame then:
Burn Scented Candles Either the magical ones you've made on the eve or some that you've bought! Winter scented candles really add charm to the space!
Sing! Song worship is a wonderful form of magic. You can sing spells or devote a song to your guides. Even if you don't have a song to sing then intoning is a great way to elevate the space. Intoning would be wonderful to warm up your vocal chords and energy with then you could pick a devotional song or even a carol to sing!
Offerings Your guides have been with you all year and the year (or sun) is going through it's period of rebirth. You can set aside offerings in gratitude for them. If you want to make it in theme with the holidays you can set aside something like milk and cookies! If your guides like something specific then of course offer that to them.
Winter Grounding Do some energy work on the first day of winter to center yourself and go within. Stand in the snow or on the cold hard ground and feel the cold electrify your senses as you ground with the earth. If cold is very much not your thing you can do energy work in your room with a sound bath using white noise tracks or meditative winter music. Put tumbled crystals like quartz, blue lace agate or angel aura quartz in the freezer until they're cold and make a grid on your body by placing one on your third eye, throat, chest, navel etc and meditate. Focus on taking in as much energy to reserve for the season.
Make a Merry Potion! As it's the darkest time of the year the mood can plummet. A personal potion of mine is a wonderful potpourri-like tea that can help boost your mood. It has dried rose hips , hibiscus petals and anise and Rhodiola rosea or rhodiola tincture. I would suggest getting a rhodiola tincture (you can purchase from wholefoods or online) and putting it in there. I swear by this plant and tincture, rhodiola has been a great plant ally to me especially to help cope with depression (it helps increase serotonin) but since I don’t know all the medical specifics you should consult it with your doctor if you are on something like antidepressants. It’s a semi known thing so your doctor would probably have good advice whether its safe for you to take it or not. Otherwise I have literally been spreading this tincture at work and have been seeing changes with my coworkers and my own mental health like it has helped me survive this far so I will be using it to survive winter.
TREAT YOSELF Winter is the season of resting.  Make a potpourri-like hot bath with clementine slices, rose petals, epsom salt and anise stars. Be careful to not add something like cinnamon cause the oil can burn the nether regions. Also be careful with peppermint oil cause that can leave icy burns in the nether regions. If diluted properly the two could work but if you are not familiar with working with those oils I'd suggest leaving them out!
Evening
Celebratory Feast If you are alone you can make yourself a delicious winter stew! It will be fun to slow cook something meaty or rich and make the whole home smell great and bring anticipation for dinner! If you are looking for more elaborate dishes I love to use seasonal ingredients for every sabbat. Pine is an excellent flavor that pairs well with fish like salmon. Chestnut is divine either sweet or savory. Roots like potatoes, turnips and ginger are a must!
Blessings Since Yule to me is about generosity and unity I like to use the day to do helpful spells and send blessings to loved ones. Tip when you do a spell for someone: make sure it's something they ask for and truly need. For example if you know your friend has been struggling to find a job or money you can do a money spell for them. If your friend has wished in front of you to be able to move out into a safer place, you can put energy out towards that. However a bad example would be if you think your friend is miserable cause they are single and you do a love spell. That can end up in a disaster! Only do a spell on something you know they need. Otherwise just send a blessing of good energy towards your loved ones!

Feather Symbolism, Magic, and More!
Finding a Feather on the Ground
You’re walking down a familiar path when something on the ground catches your eye. You walk up and realise it’s a large feather. You were having an awful day, but somehow finding a feather on the ground has completely elevated your mood and state of mind. That is the innate magic of the feather. Feathers come from birds and so are magical by association. Birds have long been regarded as messengers of the gods, as they carried messages to and from the heavens. Finding a feather on the ground is a gift from Spirit—a spirit guide, angel, or deceased loved one. There is something special in every found feather. Let’s explore feather symbolism, feather magic, and more!
The Type of Bird
If you’re finding feathers on the ground and can’t identify the birds, don’t fret. You don’t have to know the type of bird it came from to tap into its magic. But if determined to identify the feather’s bird-owner, you can start by doing your research. Look at what kinds of birds live in your area. Then identify the size of the bird and the feather. You can narrow down your search to a few birds, if you try hard enough. Or you can ask Spirit to show you the bird in a dream or meditation.
Tumblr media
It’s important to identify the type of bird when diving into feather symbolism.
Feather Symbolism by Bird
Each bird has its own feather symbolism, its own special magic. Birds have a direct link with Spirit and will bring you divine messages.
To get started, here is a list of birds and feather symbolism:
Blue Jay Feathers – while many people say blue jays are a nuisance, I have found them to be very powerful guides. Their message is simple – protect family at all costs.
Blackbird (Crow, Raven) Feathers – there are many kinds of blackbirds but their general message can be broken down into: magic, mystery, intuition
Ibis Feathers – the ibis is found in the Southeastern U.S. and is directly connected to Thoth the Egyptian god of Wisdom and Writing. The ibis reminds us to tap into our creative side and gain wisdom from the universe.
Seagull Feathers – the seagull can be found almost anywhere along the coasts. It is a scavenging bird and is connected to the sea. A seagull feather symbolises humour, silliness, and using resources wisely.
Cardinal Feathers – the cardinal has such beautiful and vibrant red feathers that symbolise vitality, life, power.
Parrot Feathers – parrots remind us to be aware of our surroundings and heal us through colour therapy.
Dove and Pigeon Feathers – doves and pigeons are in the same family. Dove feathers symbolise peace, love, and family.
Mockingbird Feathers – mockingbirds remind us to sing our own songs, to be our own unique selves.
Owl Feathers – Owls have connections to ancient deities. Owl feathers symbolise magic, intuition, seeing in th dark, developing psychic awareness and more.
Hawk Feathers – Hawk feathers remind us to connect with Spirit, stay focused, and fly high.
Feather Symbolism by Colour
If you don’t know the kind of bird, look at the colour. The colour of the feather has special meaning. Here’s a simple guide:
White Feathers: a sign from recently passed loved one or angel
Black Feathers: a call to spiritual action and self-exploration
Red Feathers: a sign of passion or love in the near future
Gray Feathers:  a time of peace is coming
Blue Feathers:  a sign of communication, peace, and protection
Brown Feathers:  a sign of home life and importance of grounding
Tumblr media
White feathers symbolize angels and spirit guide communication.
What Part of the Bird Did the Feather Come From?
If we really want to get into the details of feather symbolism, identify what part of the bird the feather came from. The part of the bird has spiritual meaning and its own magic. The author Ted Andrews describes in his book Animal Speak the different parts of the bird and the significance of feathers from those parts. Here is my take on the parts and feather symbolism:
Wing Feathers: send a thought or prayer to another or to Spirit. Wing feathers are stiffer than other feathers to support the bird in flight. And so it will support you in your endeavours. The technical name for these feathers are remiges.
Down Feathers: these soft and fluffy feathers provide warmth to the bird. Use them to comfort and protect your spirituality.
Outer Feathers: these are called contour feathers and are the outermost feathers, or the ones that you see the most. These feathers help wick water and are the most colourful. Contour feathers can bring a sense of self appreciation and protection.
There are others: tail feathers (rectrices), border feathers (coverts), below the contour feathers (afterfeathers), and bristles. You can find out more about the types of feathers by going here.

Keep your special feathers in a vase with crystals as feather magic.
Feather Magic
For thousands of years, Native Americans and other indigenous peoples have used feather symbolism in their spiritual rituals. Here’s how you can use feather magic today:
Smudging: smudging is an old Native American practice. It is the use of smoke from a dried herb (such as white sage) to rid an area or person of negativity. It is a rite of cleansing. A larger feather can be used to fan the smoke in different directions. The feather itself lends to the power of the smudging ritual. Feathers can be bundled together and made into a “smudging wand”. You can watch tutorials on how to make your own on Youtube.
Accessorise: feathers can be worn on the body. This is a powerful form of feather magic. Natives have worn feathers in their hair and on their clothes for centuries. You can wear your favourite feather by making it into a hair piece or as a piece of jewellery. Carry the feather with you and the spiritual significance will stay with you.
Meditation: hold feathers during meditation. Blow gently on the feather to send out your spiritual intent or to put yourself into a trance. Hold a specific type of bird’s feather to contact your bird spirit guide.
Dream Bags and Pillows: if you are not allergic to birds/feathers, place a feather into a small sachet with other herbs to induce lucid dreams. Tuck the feather under your pillowcase at night to help transform yourself into the form of a bird in your dreams.
Magical Arrangements: place your favourite feathers between your favourite crystals and stones in a small clear vase and put somewhere special in your home. This keeps the spiritual powers of the feather flowing throughout your sacred space. Plus you can admire their beauty any time!
Adornments: you can adorn yourself with feathers or you can use feathers to adorn your spiritual tools. Just as the Natives did, you can use feathers to decorate wands, rattles, drums, staffs, altar cloths, and more!
Gods and Goddesses
In addition to the type of feather, what kind of bird it came from, and how to do feather magic, research if the bird is connected to a god or goddess. For instance, the seagull is connected to the Celtic sea god Manannan Mac Lir. The Ibis is connected to Thoth, the Egyptian God of Writing. The vulture is connected to the Egyptian Goddess Nekhbet. The Morrigan, an Irish Triple Goddess, is connected to the crow. And the list goes on.

Plant a cactus by your garden gate for protection.

Keep mini altars in rooms you use regularly like the bathroom and kitchen so you’re always close to a few special, spiritual items.
Purchase or make a piece of jewelry from a protective stone like smoky quartz or obsidian.
Keep track of your sleep and menstrual cycles and moods to see how the moon phases affect you.

Carry a small pocket sized journal with you to act as a portable grimoire.
Do a tarot reading first thing Saturday morning to lend some grounded perspective to the weekend.
Go outside on a full moon and look up at the bright sky.
Go outside on a new moon and look up at the dark sky. (Both are beautiful.)

For birthdays and holidays, gift loved ones with the crystal associated with their astrological sign with a note explaining the significance.
Get a telescope so you can get up close and personal with the constellations and moon phases.

Find a magickal habit you can practice while doing mundane things like watching tv, such as knot magick.
Use a favorite crystal or a crystal related to your question to choose your tarot cards in a reading.

Spotlight Series: The Stoned Housewife Maggie May
If you spend any time on Instagram looking at feeds to do with cannabis you will eventually find yourself on the page belonging to Maggie May AKA The Stoned Housewife. Maggie bills herself as a Metaphysics + Cannabis Oracle, a Frequency Healer, Shadow Alchemist and a Metaphysical Practitioner. Her website is a treasure trove of products, blogging and information related to energy, astrology and of course cannabis. She offers events, tarot readings, a podcast and a little online store full of beautiful things that would make a perfect gift for a friend or to yourself.
"I am a cosmic incarnation and a channel of divine light. I am here to help you understand you are the same!"  -- The Stoned Housewife
Tell the readers a little bit about your website, what do you do there and what does “Where metaphysics meets cannabis" mean?
Where Metaphysics meets Cannabis is a way for me to bring the ancestral healing modalities of the Eastern world, that are rooted deeply in the energetic foundations of life, with a widely western view of acknowledgment of Cannabis medicine. My work as a Metaphysical healer for the past decade has led me down a road I wouldn't have believed when I was being raised in the conservative south. The Stoned Housewife has become a platform for me to creatively express the experience I have received through Reiki and working with Crystal Spirits, among many other things. I like to say I am getting stoned on two levels. I create content for people who want to get into Metaphysical realm and already have a base of Cannabis knowledge. There are so many websites out producing education on Cannabis but very little education on the energetic realm.
I’m very intrigued by some of the services you offer, including tarot readings, how long have you been reading cards and how did you get into it?
Thank you so much, I have been practising reading cards for almost a decade. I began ritually using them for guidance after 3 years of solely studying the deep symbolism that the cards contain. I have been actively reading almost every day for the past 6 years. I resonate highly with the fortune teller aspect of culture. The cards bring a calming reassurance when times get a little vibrationally out of whack. I studied for years before I ever got my own deck to work with the Tarot, as a sign your first deck is supposed to be gifted to you. My Reiki healer gave me my first deck and it was a standard Raider-Waite deck. I now have just shy of 30 decks I have collected over the years, each with a different method of healing.
You’re also creating content in the form of podcasts! I am such a podcast nerd so I was very happy to find the Lifted Life, tell us a little bit about your podcast.
Lifted Life came to me as a way for me to get my thoughts out in a more fluid way than writing a 40-page blog post. I love bringing in the simple but powerful techniques in the metaphysical healing space, I also enjoy talking a lot. I have had numerous people tell me they could listen to me speak for hours. I wanted to bring something into the space that I didn't see before and that was a spiritual podcast dedicated to all the energies including the stuff people think is "out there". Plus I am not someone who lives completely outside of the real world, I love Bob's Burgers and Game of Thrones as much as the next person. During the season I would look ahead and try to find spoilers though, which I am a sucker for finding out what happens before I watch a show. I tried to make it as real as I am. Not just solely spiritual based because we live in a 3-dimensional plane, so we can't ignore the other factors. They are all here for a reason.
Each episode has a foundation of 3 parts: Metaphysics, Cannabis, and 3D Life. I am always talking about the frequency of our surroundings in everyday life and the planets pull on us anyway so I was like, "Hey, I listen to myself talk about this, I am going to start a podcast." It started to grow and pour out of me in a way that flows perfectly. I plan to have other Metaphysical women and men on in future episodes.
Do you find that cannabis helps you in your metaphysical side of your business? If so, how?
Cannabis has heightened my energetic work exponentially. I began consuming Cannabis and would give myself Reiki treatments, I noticed how much more aware of the energies I became.  Whenever I begin to give a client Reiki, I have them fill out a questionnaire as to how, when, or even if they consume. This gives me what I like to call their "cannaaura".  If they do not, I know I can bring CBD products for them to use during the session as well as after. If they do consume I have them take part in a "passing of the pipe" type of ceremony. We both consume and I guide our messages with the intention to be delivered down Blue Road. The White Buffalo Calf Woman brought the smoking pipe to the Lakota natives and told them this was a way to communicate their messages to their ancestors. Whenever I smoke Cannabis, it is always intention based and I want my clients to feel as if they can call in their ancestors at any time. Cannabis helps loosen some of the conditioned patterns of how we experience the energy, thus helping people be more open to receiving higher frequencies.
What are your plans going forward with The Stoned Housewife? What do you envision for your business?
I want to empower people to live a life that revolves around them keeping themselves on a frequency of love.  Our lives don't have to revolve around worrying about what others are doing, telling others how they need to be, or feeling helpless when something "out of our control" happens. We have all the control, it is just wrangling in the toddler energy level of our brains. Working with Reiki for the past 6 years has changed my life greatly. It is the path I chose and I have a divine inner feeling, I knew it all along. I want to empower people to take back their power, one way I have found works greatly in gathering people in a room and having them do their work. We so often give our power away in so many ways, from the very moment we wake up we are on our phones checking in on what the world has to say. I want to show people you don't have to give any power away and no one can take it.  Moving forward I want to bring these healing techniques to people all over the world. I feel confident in my abilities and the higher frequency energies I work with daily. I know I am guided solely to what is for my highest good. I envision my business continuing to grow on a global scale as I have books, magazines, and self-help programs in the works. I love collaborating and as for the rest of 2017, I have an event in Malibu, California coming up on Friday, October the 13th. I have teamed up with Cure Designs of the Emerald Exchange and two Holistic Health and Wellness coaches (@hintofgreens + @balanced_life_leslie) to bring together the goddess culture surrounding the number 13. It is a co-ed Sacred Space Sleepover on a private ranch, nestled in the hilltops.
I noticed you also strain reviews… What is your favorite strains and why?
Oh my! It is so hard to choose. My favorite would have to be Wonder Woman. It is an amazing producer and a mood game changer! It is my favorite because being an empath, I absorb tons of other people's energetic junk. WW helps clear out those energies and leaves an actual high feeling, like your levitating. It smells like a combo of jet fuel and fruity pebbles. The terpene profile has pretty high amounts of Humulene and Caryophyllene. Humulene is found in Hops, Sage, and is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Black pepper and oregano have high amounts of Caryophyllene and it has been used in Alcohol craving reductions. I may be a little partial to this strain because my husband met Linda Carter, the OG Wonder Woman and gave her some of this strain. So not only is she my favorite but the actual Wonder Woman has smoked the weed I grew! That's freaking amazing.
Do you have a cannabis ritual? Do you think rituals around consumption are important?
I use Cannabis ritually when I want to communicate with the energies most cannot see (going into a Reiki session or conversing with the Tarot). I consume with the intention to be an open vessel and receive the guidance I need for the healing needed at that exact moment. I think we are naturally drawn to ritual as an ancestral way of healing. It's as if it is in our blood to perform rituals. Most people don't think they are rituals but refer to their rituals as "schedules". So for me if I do something everyday, I look to see if some kind of consumption would be beneficial. I religiously take CBD though, I wake up most mornings and reach for my Grapefruit CBD vaporizer with organic terpenes to supplement my coffee intake. This just sets me up with a higher energetic footprint for the day.
Another thing you’re doing is events, what are the Green Lodge Events like?
The Green Lodge is like stepping into a vortex of healing. Time stops and we just go within. I had a vision to bring women together under the premise of using different modalities of healing. I gather a lot of information before each lodge and no one lodge is similar. Each lodge is based on a foundation of Earth Realm Medicine. So that entails not only Cannabis and Crystals, but an animal, Goddess, Spirit, and Moon energy. We have had a Shamanic drumming chanting session which left the goddesses in tears and have planted wildflowers under the Budding Trees Moon. One month we had our local Brazilian Samba instructor come and we danced for the waters and the Goddess Oshun. TGL is more centred in giving you the tools to walk out the door and shift your perspective with literal frequency control. Nikola Tesla style! Not to say it is not work, I make you work. I make you question the self-talk you repeat every day to yourself and others. If our eyes could see the natural energetic auras that emanate from everything, we would have more awareness of our thought-forms. The Green Lodge is simply a portal, like something from Burning Man. You come in leave your Ego at the door and there is a good possibility you'll get to see some Fire. The next Green Lodge is November 18th in Boulder, Colorado, we will be having a food, coat, and feminine supplies drive and the proceeds will be going to a local domestic violence shelter in Denver.
What about cannabis do you love?
I love how Cannabis raises people's vibration. It opens the heart chakra and some world-renowned psychic channelers say it is a literal "deprogrammer."  Energetically when someone consumes Cannabis it elevates them. I love explaining to people you don't have to get high to use Cannabis and that I could get them higher with an energy healing session most times. Getting lifted is an understatement. I love being somewhere and asking someone if they would like to share a joint or bowl with me because I can literally see the tension melt away that so many people carry. Cannabis has helped me develop my Reiki practice into a full-blown way of life. I have a confidence I knew was somewhere inside of me, and working with the Cannabis Spirit has definitely helped me feel more in my self.
What advice would you offer to a woman interested in joining the cannabis industry?
Do your own thing but don't be intimidated to ask for help. This isn't a lone wolf pack as much as we have been taught on societal standards. The pack survives. So I would reach out to people who align with the work You want to do, not the work someone else wants you to do to fulfill their dream. If you have confidence in your self, the right people and opportunities will align into your path. I have met some amazing people and I simply reached out with the intention to have a mutually beneficial relationship, whether that be business, sponsor, or simply just a friend. The Cannabis industry is the tadpole of the world right now. It is just a little baby! So nurture it and yourself and we can grow this into something that benefits humanity as a whole for the better.
