I've enjoyed episode 3 the most so far, but I think the show is still struggling to find a good balance between taking itself seriously and the absurdist humor that RR writes with. My main takeaways:
The Fight Scenes (or Lack Thereof?)
It seems very peculiar to me that the show is just speed running through its battle scenes. Again, it feels very much like the product of Disney trying to sanitize anything that's too extreme?
The trio fleeing from the kindly ones in the book ended with Percy taking control of the bus and then crashing it. It explodes. They lose all of their stuff (money, food). In the show, they simply bail out the back window. No true panic. No tension. Just, okay :) we're leaving now :)
The Medusa Scene. I'll speak more to this later, but in terms of the fight we get to see... well we get to see nothing. Apparently this fight required us to view it through the lens of the invisibility cap (ie. not at all),
I understand this show is intended for a younger audience, but the books are as well. Even the movies, which are pg, came up with better ways to show things without necessarily showing things. As a result, it feels like anything that might induce the slightest bit of tension or fear are sanded down and its honestly doing such a disservice to the books and the audience.
Medusa
I actually really liked this portrayal of Medusa. The 1950s housewife vibe landed well for me. And I loved the actress's voice -- very soft and soothing but always sounding as if she were just about to cry.
Also, I really liked her dialogue. Her digs at Athena and Poseidon were perfectly tragic.
That being said, I really prefer the trio's arrival to the emporium in the book. In the books, they've been wandering the woods and are lost and exhausted and hungry because of the battle/bus crash where they've lost all of their stuff. It almost feels like the emporium popping up "out of nowhere" was more of it finding them.
Meanwhile in the show, Grover finds it through scent on a satyr path and they immediately know its Medusa, which imo takes out so much of the fun of it all??? In the books, they dont know. Grover's just like, freaking the ever living fuck out, and clearly Percy and Annabeth have let him take sole custody of the shared brain cell, cause they're more concerned about getting some food than anything else
Just... RIP dumbass shenanigans
And honestly, I'm not really sure what necessitated the change here in the show (of them not being tricked). It would have been one thing if they were going to change Medusa entirely to not wanting to harm them at all, but imo, I think its arguable/evident that show Medusa was looking for an excuse to petrify Annabeth and Grover (at minimum) regardless of anything.
Honestly, I would have had the show loosely play it out as: book arrival (they dont know its Medusa), keep the dumbass energy and banter, the trio figures out it Medusa while they're eating, Medusa is the more sympathetic version we see in the show, regardless it still ends with the battle.
Also, I do mourn the book battle. The panic and absurdity is just handled better imo. Annabeth shoving them off the bench, Grover flopping all over the place with the shoes but actively getting a good few hits in, Percy having to use to the reflection to behead her... the #TeamWork was emphasized a little more there to me.
Characterization
I think the show is absolutely nailing certain parts of the characters.
They've gotten Percy's anger and his derision towards the gods down. But, I think they're actually underscoring some of his, idk, sincerity? His kindness? It was the line "she met a pinecone's fate" that just rang off to me. While undoubtedly funny, it's just such a stark difference from his reaction to Thalia's story in the books, where he was unsettled by her fate and felt a sincere sympathy for her. The line in the show I assume is meant to criticize the gods, but still, it feels like it comes at the expense of the sensitivity that he has.
They've gotten Annabeth's bluntness, intelligence, pride, and superiority down cold. No question about it. But I feel like they just need to let her be more of a 12yo kid?
Like. In canon she and Percy banter and argue over the silliest of things. She plays hacky sack with Grover and Percy. She blushes and hyperventilates when Luke interacts with her. Episode 3 is like the first time we've gotten to see her do something remotely childish (buying all that candy) and I'm just dying for more of that!! She's not the "mom" of the group and she has her canon dumbass moments. I'm hoping more of this is captured moving forward. They've gotten a good start on the banter, but let Annabeth be more silly! Cause she is!
(Absolutely none of my personal qualms about the characterization are Walker or Leah's fault. They've done amazing. It's the writing/directing I'm side-eyeing).
OH! And I'm sorry but Percy being like "Annabeth we're going to bury medusa with your hat on" would have never ever flown with Annabeth. In no world.
But Grover eating them up at the end? Iconic. Good for him.

Would you be willing to write how the brothers (any you decide but at least leviathan mammon and belphie) as well as any side characters (Raphael and barbatos perhaps?) would react to us/the reader telling them "you always were my favourite." ? Thank you even if you don't do my request I love how you characterize them. You write Raphael really well also [: - ⛓️
telling them they're your favorite

Tumblr media
➳ lucifer flicks a glance over at you. “is that so?” he asks, brow raising. “i thought you didn’t have favorites.” “well, i would never admit it to the rest of them, but you just get me so well. and cause me the least number of headaches,” you reply, and he lets out a half-chuckle. “i wonder why you’re admitting it to me now,” lucifer ponders aloud. “it probably has nothing to do with the fact that i know you’re hungry and know i keep snacks hidden in my desk.”
Tumblr media
➳ mammon loses his composure quickly, sputtering. you don’t think you’ve ever seen his cheeks get that red that fast. he recovers after a long moment, chest puffing out. “i always knew it,” he insists, pride heavy in his tone. “i mean, i am your first man an’ all. it’s only natural that you’d like me best, especially since i am the coolest and best-looking of all of us.” you laugh, and he goes on. “but ya should tell me. why exactly am i your favorite and what do you like about me best?”
Tumblr media
➳ levi shakes his head. “no, you’re just saying that to cheer me up. there’s no way a gross, lonely, yucky otaku like me is your favorite!” “you shouldn’t say those things about yourself,” you insist, laying on the puppy-dog eyes for n extra guilt factor. “it makes me sad. and i hate seeing my favorite–or should i say my bias?–sad.” levi gives you a little half-smile, convincing clearly working, and you decide to go in for the kill, prey upon his envy. “but i suppose if you don’t want to be my favorite i can pick someone else…” wow, did that turn his mind around!
Tumblr media
➳ belphie huffs out a laugh. “please, i know you wouldn’t actually ever admit it, even though it’s true. what is it you want?” even if you insist, you know he won’t believe you, or at least believe you’re actually admitting it like he said, so you just come clean. “well, i need a ride and mammon’s the only other one home but he always makes me give him gas money.” “i knew you wanted something,” belhie grumbles good-naturedly as he pulls himself out of bed. “fine, but only if i get payment of my own. don’t you think a kiss should be enough?” his eyes slant devilishly. “at least to start.”
Tumblr media
➳ barbatos smirks. “i didn’t know my food was that good.” “are you kidding me?” you reply, grabbing another mini-cupcake. “these are so freaking good. barbatos, if you promised to bake for me every day i’d marry you in a heartbeat.” this gets a rare true smile out of him, one complete with crinkles at the corners of his eyes. “don’t let anyone else hear you saying that,” he warns, “or else you’re going to have a bunch of wannabe-bakers messing up the kitchen at the house of lamentation, and is that something you really want to deal with?”
Tumblr media
➳ luke pumps his fist, vibrating with excitement. “i knew it! i knew it, i knew it, i knew it! of course you like me the most, especially compared to those mean demons!” wrapping his arms around your waist, he gives you a tight hug, looking up at you affectionately. “you’re my favorite too, mc! besides simeon of course, but no one will ever beat him.” you laugh, ruffling his hair, and even though it’s mean of you to think you’re sure if he were a puppy his tail would be wagging a million times a minute. “well, it is simeon so i suppose that’s fine.”
Tumblr media
➳ raphael blinks uncomprehendingly. “me? i’m your favorite? but, we haven’t even known one another for that long and you seem so close with the brothers!” before he can fully spiral, you smile, knocking against his shoulder. “and? i really like you. you’re kind, smart, genuine, and a good mediator. why wouldn’t you be my favorite?” you leave then, but for the rest of the day note the small, bashful smile he wears, and the way he can’t make eye-contact for more than a few seconds at a time without looking away, ears turning the slightest bit red.

Do you think ur going to do a review or analysis of the live action? Because even tho i kinda liked it i think i have the same problem that you have with the characters, like zoro. It's weird bc i think that the characterization of the characters is kinda good, but also there's something laking, i think it's the removal of some core senes but honestly idk fully if it's that or something else. I know they had short time to adapt like 90 chapters, but i think the time they had would be better used if they didn't had the b plot be abt garp. Tho that's also not right, bc i think some of the scenes with the marines were fun? But in this case i think garp characterization is just not that great.
Idk its super weird bc i feel the world is really one piece and it was fun to watch but there's some things that are kinda :/
Okay uh, let me preface this by saying part of my degree had to do with adaptation - in terms of what it is and how it's really god damn hard. So this live action intrigues me not just as a one piece fan, but in terms of my studies, and I have no doubt my favourite teacher is getting a kick out of this as we speak lol.
If you don't want spoilers for ep 1, don't read under the cut. If you don't want to feel bummed out cause you super enjoyed the show, also don't read. I am analysing this in a very critical way because I was dead interested in how this was handled.
I have only watched one episode, I can only judge so far at the moment, so feel free to take this all with a grain of salt. There is indeed charm in this series! The only thing is, there's charm when it's trying to be itself exclusively, and it falls really flat when trying to replicate One Piece because...I didn't feel One Piece from this in any sense. Any 'faithful' shots I received felt like a cheap replica attempting to force some nostalgic emotion out of me with nothing earned.
And, from what I can see, that's the problem here. This series isn't sure how loyal it should really be, nor is it sure how much fidelity it should keep - but it's trying to remind me at every damn second "This IS One Piece, do you SEE One Piece?" And it's not just me saying this, the producers themselves admitted that they were TRYING to be loyal. A quote from them is;
“What we learned is the fans are expecting you to be true to the source material,” says executive producer Marty Adelstein, whose Tomorrow Studios produced “Cowboy Bebop” for Netflix before embarking on “One Piece....As we read the comments, it was always, ‘Well, they didn’t do this character the same as this and that.’ … It really taught us a lot of what we needed to do with this one.” “It became everyone’s goal to make sure that when you looked at the show, you thought this was a live-action version of the manga that just felt like another feather in the legacy of Oda,” (source)
So here's my question here, to myself and One Piece fans - did you FEEL like you were watching a 1:1 version of these characters? Did these characters FEEL like themselves instead of being TOLD they're apparently themselves?
Of course, it's an adaptation! It's supposed to be different! But this statement directly contradicts that, and so does everything else. After all they apparently hired Oda to 'check off' on it, they used the Japanese VAs for the Japanese audio version of it, they even have the manga/anime version of Luffy sitting there in the One Piece logo - constantly reminding me OF the original no matter what I do.
So with all these comments, and with all these decisions, what else to expect but "Oh, so they're planning to stay loyal and not deviate from the original? This is clearly their goal."
And that's where the problem ensues for me, because they try DESPERATELY to ham fist in original source material, they really want me to point at the screen and go "JUST LIKE THE MANGA!", but they're not going all in on it and, as such, the changes become increasingly obvious that this ISN'T the same. Because, if you only have a BIT of Zoro's character implemented from the original, but not ALL of it, what else am I to see but a bastardised version of the original here?
This script does this thing where it's giving me beats of Zoro, but not all of Zoro, and suddenly I'm left with a guy who's a weird, bizarro version of Zoro. He's not quite original enough to feel like his own being, and he's not quite loyal enough to feel like the original. And of course, it's not just Zoro, but it's this way for the other characters too.
The 'loyalty' the producers are talking about, and the lesson they've seem to have learnt here is; "We need to unnaturally shove in as much fidelity as we can in an exposition-dump, so we can get it out of the way, make everyone feel like we're respecting the source, and get on to the original scenes that add nothing but a laugh."
And...it's a shame! It's weird to say this series would, so far, be better if they weren't TRYING to replicate One Piece's energy, but from everything I am seeing, it's clearly what they are trying to do. This show has charm when it has its OWN charm, but cutting from a fun little original scene to an exposition dump of lore is so incredibly jarring I don't even really know what to make of it.
For example, we were shown Zoro being tied up to a pole. We are going to point at it and go "I remember that!" but then...the whole reasoning is different, the motives are different, and...the time is all different? In all respect, this series is doing what Disney live actions are doing, where they are giving me MORE scenes with LESS information - and due to seemingly TRYING to be loyal, it feels like the original scenes are fun, but a waste of time due to the exposition dumps being incredibly rushed and lacklustre.
In a complete ironic twist, their desperation to be loyal has them falling flat, so instead I'm seeing a hollow replica of what One Piece is - when it could've been an original live action that's trying to work on its strengths of BEING its own live action.
All in all, the first ep would've been fine if I turned my brain off, but I don't...watch One Piece to do that. I don't ever feel numbed by One Piece, and by all means I was given the expectation that this WOULD be the story RETOLD but with BIGGER action and LARGER characters because they just LOVE Oda and respect him SO MUCH!
But at the end of the day, for a first impression, I got another Netflix live action that COULD work on itself, but ultimately is making me appreciate the original a lot more. It's making me appreciate Oda's writing more, the Strawhat's original characters more, and the world more. It seems great as a digestible family show, which I'm sure is what Netflix wanted, but it's already got me feeling uneasy.
Of course, this could very well change the more I get through, and I'm very open to it, but the first episode in itself makes for a fascinating case study on the fidelity of anime live action adaptations.
And just in case anyone gets up in arms because there seems to be a weird forced positivity crusade on this series right now, Oda himself has said he intends to happily take criticism, because he knows it'll come from a place of love. This by no means is a disrespect to Oda, and is more a look in on how Netflix operates.

Thanks for answering my questions previously!! I saw that you're not a big fan of fanon batfam and I've been wondering if you consider the batfamily: wayne adventures webtoon canon or fanon?
Someone told me that batman fans aren't happy about the WFA, but have recently accepted it over the Gotham War. Also I feel like WFA is one of the main causes of an influx of fanon fans(? If that makes sense)
WFA is fanon. It was meant to be a fun past time that DC decided to purchase under their name because it has characters they created which means they have copyright claims to it. Also webtoons in general are all fan-made so it's not something that should be taken seriously in the first place.
However here's where it gets confusing. WFA is fanon, but the characterization of the characters is not too far off. Like yes, all of them are way too happy to be truthful to the comics but also it's written that way on purpose because thats the intent.
Another anon asked me about this a long time ago but I've been holding off on it because I don't even know my own feelings about it! I've been religiously avoiding reading it because it mixes canon characterization and fanon in such a perfect way that it's hard to decipher what's true and what's not.
But because it's not canon, I can't use it to back up an argument or explain something because technically it's just digital fanfic that was acquired by DC due to copywriting and business profits.
About influx of fans from WFA - mixed feelings on that as well. You can't really help how you enter a fandom, it's just different and unqiue and it depends on what was going on at the time you entered the fandom. But also when you enter the fandom, you have certain expectations of characters because of what you saw of them them before you entered.
And that's...complicated. I guess I feel like it shouldn't be a problem if people understand that things in canon are different and shouldn't be fought against because it's not like how it's portrayed in fanon or WFA. And I think most people do get that but there's also some people who made some comments about how the Gotham War was terrible writing because the batfamily was fighting and that's not right. A comic shouldn't be judged on how many good feelings it provokes, it should be judged on character portrayal, plot events, character interaction, and excitement. And what Bruce is doing sucks but it makes sense because he's in the middle of a downward spiral. His struggle is way out of control and that's the whole point of the Gotham War. It's well-written for all the above mentioned things even if it isn't the happiest of storylines. But at the same time, I struggle to remember any batman arc that's happy. Hasn't been that way for decades unfortunately.
I'm really confused over WFA so I haven't said anything about it so far because I can't write about something I don't know. I refuse to read it because I just spent years decoding my brain from fanon nonsense and WFA mixes fanon and canon characterization in a way that regresses that effort. So the best I can say for people who enjoy WFA or are coming in through it is, enjoy the webtoon but also have fun exploring the canon comics. They're really great :)

Hey, I hope you’re doing well. Ik we fic writers always complain about the lack of discussion surrounding our work so I thought I’d start asking questions to my peers.
Here we go:
I have a few questions about the Jin x Kenjaku fic you wrote:
1- How did you get the idea?
2- Did Jin’s characterisation cause you any problems since we don’t know much about him? How do you usually handle characters we don’t have much information about?
3- Can you detail your writing process a little bit for that one? Did you write it easily? Did it take a few days or more?
My last question is about writing in general. What do you like about writing Mirko?
Thank you in advance 💕
For anyone curious, this is the fic -> Blissfully Clueless
1 - Since I've been more "active" with JJK, I remember doing a reread and getting to chapter 143 and going "Oh, new fic idea" when I read the flashback scene. Wanted to try out an interpretation of how Jin's relationship with Kenjaku could have been like, you know? Simply was just writing it to be writing it! Honestly, I'm surprised I even wrote that fic because I didn't think would! Most of my fics are more comedic, but lately, I've been dipping into trying more styles.
2 - Ooh, so this plays into what I'll say later! It wasn't easy coming up with some kind of characterization for Jin, but at the same it was kind of easy. What made it difficult was that, yeah, we don't know much about Jin like that. Writing the fic, I questioned myself "how can I write this particular character without making feel too OOC, how to make a possible personality fit for this character"? Now what made it easy is that Jin doesn't have a lot to him in canon. Whenever I write characters who have little to nothing to them in canon, I think of them as empty or unfinished canvas. I have room to add colors to them, details that can bring them to life. Instead of a paintbrush, I'm using words. With characters like that, I'm able to let my imagination roam free because there are no limitations. If Jin had a lot more to him in canon, then it feel as if I have to take that and work with that. It's like "Well, he's like this in canon, so I can't mess up". I won't lie, sometimes I feel pressured to write a character aligned with canon personality because I feel like if I step just a little over the line, someone is going to get fussy about it. I mean, I understand that some people tend to write characters completely different just to bash that character in their fics or twist them in ways they see fit because they feel they have some authority over that character even though it's not theirs. But other times, there are those who do it as a creative choice, they're doing it to fit into an idea they have for a story. And it doesn't mean they really think of the character that way.
3 - That fic actually took a good twenty minutes or so! I needed a distraction that day and thus, that fic was born! Like a lot of my fics, I didn't plan that one. The idea came to me and I just wrote. As I wrote, that's when I question how I could possibly frame Jin's character. A challenge it was, but it was a fun one!
**
Oooh, to choose what I like writing when it comes to Miruko is giving her more depth. Okay, she has a personality in canon, but I just feel like she isn't just this "aggressive, angry rabbit woman" that some of the fandom sees her as. Now, unlike Jin, Miruko does have more backstory and screentime. In Vigilantes (BNHA Spin-off manga, it's great), she even has a whole flashback arc. So I have a little more to work with when it comes to her.
However, she is still just a minor character, so there is still not too much for her in canon. Even so, again, she's a canvas to me.
I actually have a lot of posts analyzing her character just from little information and her dialogue. I don't know how I do it, but I believe it comes from more how much I enjoy Miruko.
When writing her in fics, I don't want her to feel one-dimensional. Some of the fandom already do from canon which sucks. I'm about to sound salty, but it's just crazy to me that some fans will complain about aspects of female characters they find annoying and displeasing, but makes excuses for the male characters and admire them some those same aspects.
Some people will say the female characters barely got personality, but come on. Some of the male characters are bland as hell or has been done a thousand times before. It's not just the female characters, folks.
Anyways! I want readers to see that Miruko is capable of being sad, happy, tired... that she is capable of feeling, too. So I often think back to my posts about her and incorporate them in my fics. Or even vice versa. Sometimes, my fics inspire a post.
Sometimes, it can be a challenge, but not one I'll give up on because it's fun taking a line of dialogue and deciphering what it could mean for Miruko. I get enjoyment from looking at a scene and writing a post about it.
Gets the creativity flowing!
That's all I really can say for now. 💜

Most of the time when I try to find x readers of my f/o all of them end up being not at all like what I characterize my f/o to be like, and it makes me feel really demoralized cause Fics with my f/o is a huge main way for how I feel close to her and I’d write some of us together but my writing isn’t very good so I’m not too sure what I could do instead and I’d like to ask for advice regarding that ;;
ohhh, it's no fun when the characterization feels off. instead of making them feel closer it makes them feel farther away. i'm sorry!!!
but you have options!!!
the first two are kinda related, so i'm lumping them together! option one: make a request. option two: commission. a lot of x reader writers take requests! if there's one that you enjoy and that gets it close enough, you can always check to see if they're open to one! and if there isn't, there are plenty of people who take writing commissions, just in the self ship community alone, and that way you'd be able to ask for exactly what you want.
of course, there's always a risk that someone else won't be able to write your character exactly as you feel them. and i know this option is less exciting, but you can always always always keep writing!!! even if you think your writing isn't very good!!! it doesn't have to be good. it doesn't have to be thought out, it doesn't have to be finished. write headcanons and write little blurbs!!! just write the idea or the dialogue!!! sometimes that's enough. and the only way to get better is to keep doing it!!!
and finally!!! try exploring other ways of feeling close to your f/o!!! x readers can be great but they're not all there is. make a playlist!!! make a moodboard!!! doodle!!! write in a journal about how you feel about them or write them a love letter!!! dress like them!!!! anything!!! if x readers aren't doing it for you right now, then find or create something that does!!! there's always something!!!

btw I really have to say, you're braver than any US marine to engage in conversation with Lenore stans on Reddit 😭 I found your comment about Lenore being evil, and honestly if someone said to my face "[Lenore] did indulge Hector's kink since it's clear he liked it also" I would throw in the towel. What's with these people and finding all sorts of ways to downplay rape? Also what's with her fans literally victim-blaming Hector, as if anyone deserves slavery and sexual assault (let alone that the story itself frames him as the most decent in Dracula's court)? I wonder if they'd justify Carmilla getting raped since she wanted to conquer the world :'D oh no wait, she's a woman, that would be gross.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know about you, but he doesn't look like he's enjoying himself, and that's not counting the inherent compromised consent that comes with being a prisoner. Furthermore, Lenore started calling him "good boy" after she beat him half to death - it was her kink, not his.
I think the discourse surrounding Lenore is a symptom of how bad the writing is, because the cunning Lenore of S3, the one who as you said is willing to do anything in pursuit of her goals but gets underestimated for her pacifist nature (which makes her beating OOC IMO, she never used force again), and the tragic Lenore of S4, the one who feels cast aside by her fellow sisters and can only bond with her prisoner who also was mistreated and underestimated (and makes dick jokes like a 12 yo brat), are simply not the same person. Her fans focus on the latter, her detractors focus on the former. S4 also quite simply ignores Lenore's actions in S3 and only mentions them for the sake of a joke ("Oh shush you were having fun" "Right until the end"): every single defense of her character works if you ignore, or worse justify, that Lenore unnecessarily resorted to rape by deception to put Hector in that infamous "gilded cage". (the same could be said for Alucard, who gets over his own rape and betrayal with amazing ease for what the finale of S3 set up)
"Anyway, Hector/Rosaly for life 🤙" you're so right bestie 💖
Tumblr media
dhfdsjhfgd i waded into that against my better judgement but just could not let that "Lenore isn't what I'd call evil" comment slide
(dishonorable mention to another comment in that thread that went "She also honey trapped him but it was also clear that they liked each other and would have banged each other anyways" absolutely rage-inducing. had to completely ignore it for the sake of my mental health) like i don't know if it's just fans trying to downplay what she's done so it's easier to enjoy her, because there is a weird stigma against liking villain characters these days, but it also says alot about just how bad her actions are that people aren't willing to come out 100% in support of her either
and that is such a good point btw about how it's the writing and characterization that's so inconsistent between S3-S4 that's the cause of all the discourse around her. it felt like the writers were really angling to make her something of a 'good character forced to do bad things', kind of in the same vein as Hector, but because of the power imbalance they're not ever really equals in that sense

Are you enjoying windblume 3.5? I think it’s pretty good but could’ve used a bit more Venti.
I'm getting to this late cause I go through events slowly but I just finished it!
There were definitely some parts I liked more than others, and I guess it can be said that there was some characterization expansion through interaction, which is always nice (but what the hell did they do to poor Mika's voice, like??? It wasn't like that Weinlesefest and I'd put my life on that claim)
The city looked beautiful as always, I wish it always looked like that with all the flora and pretty blue carpets, the mini games were fun too, though I suck a those little beat based rhythm games and probably always will
And while it is supposed to be a Mondstadt centered event I do understand the want to include the new shiny characters instead of just focusing on Mondstadt characters, though it is a tragedy that we'll probably never get Mondstadt characters coming to Sumeru or Fontaine when that comes out, but oh well
That all being said, I miss him so much
It's so weird, the relationship Hoyo has with Venti, I can't tell whether they love or hate him because they so often stick him in events as practically a cameo that really don't need him, and then barely ever make him the focus of any of the events in his nation— I feel as though he could have had at least a little bit more of an active role, even if it was through the means of being considered a candidate as one of the potential solutions to the riddles so that we could get a letter from him, I mean the last riddle "a legend that never ends" had his name written all over it, immortal Bard and all
Like yes I do wanna join you for a drink, I would love to do a fast-track love poem class with nobody else, "plenty of time during the festival" yeah right...
I also find it incredibly humorous that a group of witches basically challenged him for no particular reason, then he responded with "no" and they were like "ok, we're just gonna host meetings here then"
But the idea that the Cecilia flower represents "a once-wayward heart transformed by the power of love" is just !!!! !!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm having thoughts
Anyway overall yeah it was fun, nice to see Albedo again, he was gone for quite awhile, and I'm just happy they're still giving us Mondstadt events at this point tbh
I'll just have to fantasize harder about Windblume Venti content in my own head to make up for this neglect I suppose

Meraa!! This one is for that ask game :D
(1) Okay, it's hard choosing just one (You always write BANGERS, It's THAT hard okay?), but if I'm gonna pick, it's gonna be Death Row Undertow <3 I have been down bad for SK Jade from your ramblings and thoughts and then actually getting a serialized fic of him is just the best thing to have ever happened ever since.
I love everything about it! Reader's interaction and relationship with every character in the fic, the whole atmosphere and setting, the mystery and suspense build-up (Oh, the scene when Jade kidnapped the reader will forever send shivers down my spine--), and how the point of view not only was seen from the reader and the horror she is experiencing but also seeing Riddle's effort in solving the mystery. Hell, the chapter where Cater got together with Pop Music Club again was one of my favorites! It really gives more perspective and a sense of wholeness when you're writing about the story of the reader's disappearance from so many different angles. Also, the dream sequences are also my favorite for symbolic reasons. It's just fun reading and rereading them to figure out what they truly mean ✨✨
The runner-ups for my favorite fic of yours are gonna be Android Jade, Captive Azul, CEO Azul, and 11:11 Rook 💞💞
(3) I may be biased, but the way you write for the Octatrio is *Chef's kiss* ✨✨💞💞😌😌 Both the yandere ones and the fluffy wholesome ones, like OUGHHHH OTZ OTZ They are canon in my heart now shdskdhlsdjlks--
(8) The thing that I really love about your writings is that your description is so, so, so vivid that plenty of those scenes are permanently ingrained in my memory. Adding that with your characterization and writing conversation skills, boy! It's almost like I'm actually watching a movie instead of reading cause the way you write them makes them so easy to visualize in my head (and god Mera, if I had the skills, I would've permanently etched them on drawings plenty of times by now--).
(9) THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME ✨✨ (I'm a Jade Leech enjoyer, what else can I say?) Actually, I'm always excited whenever you post any fic or ramblings <33 Always a joy to read them over breakfast like the morning newspaper. Wait no, actually, your writings ARE the breakfast cause you be COOKIN and SERVIN a whole MEAL 👏👏👏
Okay, that's all my ramblings for now, I hope they make sense-- But words cannot describe how much I adore your creations and that big brain of yours <333 I would be happy to scream more about your writings in the future, and I definitely will ✨✨ Have a lovely day Meraa 💞💞
KHEYY, HIIIII!!!
You have such good taste. (˘ ˘ ˘) sk!Jade is the most delectable and delicious Jade (pun very much intended). He's just in a hungry mood all the time hehe!! But I'm also very happy it is a full fic! To think I would ever draft an entire story for one silly eel... I'm very glad the idea was received well. I remember I wrote the very first and earliest sk!Jade concept while I was washing my clothes at the coin laundry LOL. I thought to myself, this idea is so morbid; I wonder if anyone would ever like it as much as I do. ^^;;; and now one year later here we are and my beloved murder eel has his fic!!! It's very exciting!
I'm so happy you like everything about DRU!!! It's a plot I hold close to my heart because it's so dark and yet so fun to write. I'm glad you can enjoy the multiple perspectives. I think it's a fun balance between the horrors Reader endures on her side while Riddle is so lawful and logical on his end. The kidnapping scene with Jade was one of my favorites to write, as was the Pop Music Club meet-up!!! Although any scene involving Jade being an absolute terror is a joy to write. Any time he appears in a scene it's a guarantee that the dread and tension will increase tenfold. He has such a sinister effect despite wearing a friendly face all the time. T_T and the dream sequences!!!! Omg I love writing the dreams in DRU! They're so fun, and I hope you can have fun deciphering what they mean hehehe. >:)
Thank you for loving the runner-ups you listed as well!! Android Jade is another favorite flavor of Jade. I love him when he's clinical and cold and detached towards everyone else but Reader. <3 and ceo!Azul my beloved!!!!! He makes me feel so infuriated! >:( but then that's the feeling I hoped he would evoke, so it's only natural to feel like I want to squish him (but also I want to sit under his desk and [redacted] LOL orz the grip he has on me is too strong; to be able to annoy me and fill me with shameless lust all in one... tako, you're the worst/best). AND 11:11 ROOK!!!! Oooooo he's horrible. Captive Azul is also so beloved. I'm gently holding him in my palms. T^T
WAAAA OMG THANK YOUUUU!!! It's so funny to me that my Octavinelle characterizations can be loved because when I first started writing them (for Sea Glass) I had no idea what I was doing and I worried that they would be ooc. But now I have written them so often that they're permanently imprinted in my mind. It's nearly second nature now... ;;;;;
"Like watching a movie" is such high praise for my writing omg!!!!ヾ(˶ ’O’˶ )ノ゙‎thank you so so so so much!!!! I'm very pleased it has that feeling! I hope the sceneries and characters can seem tangible when I describe them. It's cliché, but I hope they come to life on the page teehee. <3 I am always so honored when you draw masterpieces (yes, they are masterpieces!!! Even the doodles you have made of the beloved sk eel!!!) based on my works. T_T I save all of the fanart I have received in a folder and I often look back at it because it brings me such joy!!!!! >w< so thank you for your skillful hands!!!! orz orz orz I am forever grateful to behold your lovely art. <3
Fellow Jade enjoyer!!!!!! I am the world's most insane Jade Leech enjoyer (self-granted delusion) and TMDG is just proof of how much brain rot Jade gives me. Thank you for looking forward to it! I'm so excited to post it!!! It's going to be a three-course meal plus more wrapped into one fic. >:) but omg thank you for eating the meals I cook each time!!! Chef Meraki is forever at your service!!! (`・ω・´)ゞ I will serve FEASTS and BANQUETS worth of yummy meals for everyone to enjoy. The seafood specials are especially delicious hehehe. I recommend them!
Aaaaaa thank you once more for sending such a sweet message!!! I am also always so ready and willing to ramble about writing and yandere and characters and three slimy mafia fish and everything else in between!!! Sending you much love!!!! xoxoxo have the loveliest day, Kheyy!!!! (∗˃̶ ᵕ ˂̶∗)♡

i am so SO excited you're playing skyward sword. skwsd is my absolute fav zelda game, and i love skysd link so much, he is my little guy, my dude, the love of my life. how are you liking it? how far are you?
I'm enjoying skyward sword immensely!! Admittedly, at first I was little hesitant to get super into the game pass the intro forest temple because of how decisive this game seems to be. People seemed to either hate or be neutral to this game but I decided to play it anyway cause I do love loz and it seemed fun!! But I'm genuinely happy that I decided to play it anyway despite what the louder part of the loz community has said cause I'm truly enjoying myself a bunch.
The npcs are super animated and I love how much personality they have, even the rude ones, it just makes me happy to see how animated and diverse in personality that skyloft is! I love the little remlits and just how damn cute they are <33 I legit refuse to hurt them or throw them off cliffs they're so so cute I adore them!! Another thing that I like is that the game gives you a bunch of incentive to help fellow npcs and it gives you great rewards for doing so. It makes me actually want to look around skyloft and talk to people which is even better cause it gives me more opportunities to learn of the npcs!
I also fucking LOVE the dowsing feature, it's genuinely so great and helps me out a bunch in wanting to find objects naturally and not wanting to resort to guides. It's just nice cause I can stay in the game and find stuff at my own pace :]
ANOTHER THING!! I love how fucking COLORFUL everything is!! I am playing the HD version on the switch so I know the graphics are improved but even still! The environments and dungeons are all so pretty to look at and I llooovveedddd the ancient cistern :DDD also going back to skyward sword made me remember how much I love classic dungeon crawlers and how much I missed them in botw/totk </333 the puzzles are also very fun and are well-designed so that's a massive plus.
And uh... I've made it to the part where sksw Zelda meets with sksw Link after he managed to get all of the goddesses flames and tells him the whole deal. I genuinely did not expect for that entire scene to hit me as hard as it did but I'm really happy I managed to avoid spoilers for this long cause holy shit, holy shit. That entire conversation is so expertly written and I love how it characterizes the both of them, how they were both forced to grow up out of desperation. sksw Zelda telling Link that she was so sorry that she used him and his devotion to her?? That she knew that he would chase after her no matter what and she couldn't stay or tell him anything because the world needed a hero? That she was so sorry but she had to do it because it wasn't just them anymore, they had grown up and now the responsibility of the world was on their shoulders.
The little line of her saying that she would've been so happy to just with him on Skyloft for all their days and that she holds those memories so dear to her is just an absolute gut punch. It's so expertly written cause I feel like it would've been so easy to make her into a selfish, cruel character thanks to this conversation, but it's so wonderfully done that I fully understand why she did it. It's a case of fate demanding the worse of choices into their hands and they can do absolutely nothing about it because for as much as they love each other- neither of them could sit back and watch the world suffer. Of course, what she did wasn't good but that's the point! She hates herself for having to lie and cause him pain, for dragging him into this because she could see no other to ever be her hero.
The tragic thing is that I very much doubt it was ever in sksw Zelda's control, I think that sksw Link was always meant to be the hero and fate has a heavy hand in this game. Her motivations sort of remind me of oot Zelda's actually, blaming herself for circumstances out of her control, having to constantly stay out of reach, and having to grow up so fast. Both of them had to be the lights on the horizon that directed their heroes, but always just out of reach because he's the hero and she's the goddess, it's always so much bigger than either of them.
I've only gotten this far yet but god, GOD! This isn't even half my thoughts about the entire deal but Zelda constantly going back and forth from referring to herself with Zelda and Hylia?? Ouch??? The sudden instability of your own image... of feeling like everything you've ever known has been predestined... do you hate yourself for your past actions in another life? Do you hate her-you- for this inevitable fate that you and your hero are doomed to for reasons that you'll always blame yourself for? Does she hate herself even more that Link did exactly that, run after her, prove Hylia-herself- right? Does she feel responsible for all the physical, emotional, and mentall pain that Link has grown through in order to become the hero that the world needs? For forcing him to grow up with her when all they ever wanted was to be together and be torn apart at every single point?
Do NOT get me started on sksw Link oh my ggogoodosso ad dwshdi HELP! He's so fucking TRAGIC and PAINFUL TO EVEN THINK ABOUT! How every single person he meets he always tells them that he's looking for someone and he always seems to be in a hurry because he can't be late, not again. The sheer desperation, the unapologetic love, the personality, the inherent sacrificial nature, always looking into the past while running after Zelda- HELP ME!!! But I think one of the most painful parts to me... is that I really don't think Link blames Zelda at all, for any of it. How painful of a thought is it that I think he'd be perfectly open splitting himself on the master sword for her and he wouldn't blame her on his last breath? Would she believe him? Would she believe that she singlehandedly orchestrated the death of her hero after putting him through so much pain?
Another thing is that he isolates himself, he helps people whenever he can but there's so much guilt and isolation swirling around in him as well as the crushing weight of his destiny that he just realized. One key theme I find in the game is that early on it's stated that Link is different, from everything from the knight's academy, to Impa telling him only he can do it, to Groose trying and failing to be that hero. It doesn't feel like a blessing, it feels like a destiny he could've never avoided and he was always going to be the hero who's blood was split to protect others. Link was always going to be the one who ends up alone while everyone else stays in the past, together but eternally waiting for him- or moreso, waiting for the hero that he's forced to become. It genuinely makes me so sad that he only had Fi for the longest time but even then... she's not much more than a guide, at least at first. I really don't feel like he'd be comfortable or even believe that Fi would understand, not when she's under even stricter instructions than him.
So yeah uhhhhhhhh you could say I'm enjoying the game a bunch!! I'm waiting to finish the game before talking a BUNCH about it on the dash and flooding my blog with sksw reblogs but I'm enjoying myself so much!! Also I just missed the triforce so so much- DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH I RESENTED THE SECRET STONES FOR TAKING MY BABYGIRL THE TRIFORCE AWAY??? I literally do not care about the secret stones, bring back the triforce I love her so so soooooo much and every single time I see any sort of triforce imagery I start crying and throwing up !

Okay so about the Meld fic from Star Trek (it's me again, Lacho art, there's been 3 (4?) asks now in the span of like an hour or something). Anyhow the Meld fic. Look not that many people explore the whole prolonged meld thing and the first time meld thing and a meld to keep eachother alive thing all in one fic. I think I've seen like 2 and they're my favorite. But your fic takes that AND ALSO includes a wildly compelling reason and background for doing so. We all love a "go figure out what that strange anomaly is on that planet" fic, so excellent start, and that tiny convo between Kirk and Spock to get Spock to let them both beam down *chef's kiss*. So much serotonin right there, perfect characterization. Then you make cool energy beings? Love me something like an energy being. AN ENERGY BEING THAT DEPENDS ON YOUR OWN PERCEPTION OF THEM???????? OH BEAUTIFUL what an idea what a fantastic thought what an intrigueing and interesting living being. Perfect Star Trek creature. I'm teleported directly into the fic, I can visualize exactly what's happening on my tv, just like watching the show. I haven't even gotten to the meld yet. Spock gets away through Vulcan control? Excellent. Kirk gets away by being a Genius? Superb. Spock grabs Kirk and Kirk is freaked at first and Spock melds with him and Kirk is like 'oh it's Spock, probs not gunna die' and chills out and they talk and Spock goes through the 7 stages of 'woah this human is actually figuring this out pretty quickly' and some finger touching and Spock gets to first hand experience how dedicated Kirk is to his crew when Spock decides to get injured to keep them alive and the you ended that last chapter with Kirk getting revved up for another probable death experience??????? You ever read a fic that checks every box you have and creates new boxes you didn't even know you had? Yeah, that's what this Meld fic is doing for me. Absolutely perfect fic. Love everything about it. Spock is Spock and Kirk is Kirk and their interactions are Right and the story is compelling and the setting is interesting and I've been chewing through it like every few days. It's wonderful.
Ugh this note is giving me LIFE anon!!! I was so worried people would be confused about why Spock was so adamant about the 'no two command level officers off the ship' thing but I'm so glad it hit for you and worked. The fun thing is...and this isn't exactly spoilers but I go into the why the whole perception thing matters anyway I won't say more on that cause I'm excited for you to read it.
I'm so glad you like the Kirk getting reved up too!!! There's something I don't see noted a lot in fics and that's that he likes challenges. It exhilarates him to be put to the test. I really didn't want that to come across in a macho way or in a devil may care way but I think it's one of the many things that makes him stand out as a character. It's all those moments that someone threatens him and he smiles. All those times he's presented with something difficult and he doesn't panic: he sharpens.
I'm so glad you like it! I've been working on the last chapter and I'm honestly so keen to release it. I have a wedding not this week but next week so that's taking up a lot of my spare time (in a good way) but once that's done I should have more headspace to sit with the fic and enjoy finishing it.

Movie reviews: Double Feature
I recently saw the Mario movie. I also recently saw the DND movie. I liked both of them. I liked the DND movie better then the Mario movie but that might just be due to a greater fondness for DND. I'm going to go through the movies and talk about what I liked and didn't like, but it's going to be a little less in depth because it's two movies.
I liked the Mario movie, it was fun, enjoyable and had a lot of clever references. The story, while relatively simple, was cohesive and there weren't really any unnecessary stops along the way. The only real complaint I have with it story wise is we spent a little too much time on Mario's motivation in my opinion.
Overall the character designs were good and most of the actors were definitely trying to play the role as given. While I would have chosen someone else, Jack Black really did embrace his role as bowser and was a convincing villain and I didn't hear Jack Black. Chris Pratt was doing a Mario voice but a few times throughout the movie his Mario voice went away and he sounded like Chris Pratt which was jaring. I didn't like Seth Rogan as donkey Kong. He wasn't a good choice and there was a lot of him in the character, but he was minimally annoying and didn't ruin the movie for me. As stated before the character designs were good overall. Occasionally, Bowser looked a little more like a dog then a lizard, and short stubby Mario was a bit of an eyesore. Personally, I think there were better choices that could have been made in both the character design and voice actor department with one exception: Luigi. Everything about Luigi worked, his character design was on point, his voice matched his design and it was consistent, and even his overall characterization was recognizably Luigi.
The actual characters were very well done. Luigi was perfectly Luigi end of discussion. Toad was a very good comedy relief character, perfectly blending confidence with just the right mixture of competence and incompetence. Mario's stubbornness and perseverance in the face of opposition were well done and made him a very classic hero type. Peach was strong, capable, confident without ever being mean. Peach was what a strong character should be. Anytime a stronger character relies on putting other people down or showing off how much stronger they aren't actually strong they're insecure. Peach doesn't come across as mean or insecure which is good. Donkey Kong did disguise his insecurities as blistering arrogance and mean spirited comments. It allowed him personal growth as a character but also made him super annoying. Bowser was an excellent villain, he was large, imposing, unnecessarily cruel, and willing to use any means necessary to achieve his goal. He was also amusing and fun to watch but not in a way that made him seem less threatening or evil. Most importantly for me, was he was in no way more likeable than Mario. I never found myself even a little sympathetic to his cause, nor did he have a good quality that Mario didn't also possess.
All together this made for a very enjoyable family movie, that I wouldn't mind seeing again.
The dungeons and dragons movie was fun. It was a lot of fun and I had a great time seeing. I've now seen it twice and enjoyed it both times. It's basically a heist movie in a fantasy setting. A good summation of the overall plot is GOTG doing the heist from Ocean's eleven, set in Narnia. The action is very crisp and well done, the characters are great and the humor is generally amusing and is not reliant on crude humor. It was a great family movie. Now this is the second time I have called a movie a family movie and by that I mean that it's a movie you could feel reasonably confident taking the entire family. It's a movie that you think anyone in your family will enjoy without being offended by it. As such it keeps it's primary points simple: you can't give up on important things and family is one of those important things. These are ideas most people can agree with. Now it does sometimes allow it's emotional moments to be immediately undercut by a joke but it was never annoying for me.
The movie has a lot of action which is always fairly fast-paced, but it's very well choreographed, I never lost track of what someone was doing and it didn't really have a lot of shaky camera footage. The movie also did a really good job showing how the different characters abilities synergized and utilizing their strengths and weaknesses.
The movie really shines in its characters and in particular the interaction between the different characters. It's a combination of lighthearted banter and snark that helps illustrate these people characters and endears the audience to them. It helps make these characters real and keeps them all fun.
The movie doesn't require you know anything about DND to enjoy it although some jokes are funnier if you've played the game and there are some nerdy references but no foreknowledge of the game is required.

Did I start reading Bulletproof Heart and binge the first 25 parts instead of getting ready for work this morning? ..
Was I late to work this morning? ..
Did I continue to binge the rest of the series throughout the rest of my work shift? ..
Well none of that is here nor there, and it was genuinely worth it for the incredi le story that you have created!! I loved every single second of it.
The mc is amazing and so relatable. Hobi is such a gorgeous ray of sunshine. Kookie is adorable. Jimin and Tae had me cracking up every time they opened their mouths (or messages). Jin was so kind and sweet and I love him so much.
AND YOONGIS AND NAMJOONS ARCS ARE SO FUCKING INCREDIBLE. LIKE. Genuinely almost started crying during certain parts. AND THEM GETTING CAUGHT MAKING ON THE BLEACHERS (I like to imagine it was in the same spot Tae and mc made out on the bleachers at the very beginning) AND THEN GETTING IN A FIGHT. NAME A MORE ICONIC SHIP, ILL WAIT.
AND THE THREESOME 🫠🫠🫠 WITH JIN AND HOBI AND MC 🫠🫠🫠🫠 WAS ACTUALLY SO SWEET AND WHEN JIN AND HOBI GOT TOGETHER I MELTED INSIDE.
(Despite all of this. Jimin was probably my fave. There is just something about mischievous dirty minded kinda slutty (in a good way) jimin in smaus that will always get me 🤣)
Anyways, my work shift is over now and I need to do homework so I'm really glad I finished this first bc I Would Not be able to focus on school if I was still in the middle of reading.
And I love you k thx bye 😆👋🏻
Aaaaah when i tell you i was on the journey with you!! I always check in at various parts whenever people read bulletproof heart. I'm glad it got you through your shift cause work is wack.
Honestly, of all my smau characters, these babies might be the closest to my heart. I just want to take care of them so much. I think their characterization was very strong and I'm proud of that. I think this was actually the first smau i thought of even though i wrote it later. I still think about them a lot.
I was asking myself why i wrote a third arc, like was it necessary? But i think a lot of the reason was for Yoongi to get his redemption and for everyone to come together. Namgi forever. They're so cute.
Tae and jimin are an absolute delight. Im glad you enjoyed their nonsense. I think when they pick up yn to go to the party is so fun to me bc they try to act like they're so cool when they're just a couple dweebs. Really makes me think of debut vmin. Gosh i love them. This au is so precious to me.
Thank you so much for liking every post, reblogging, and sending me this beautiful ask. I love getting to revisit old works and getting to talk to lovely people like yourself 💜

What was your inspiration when creating your version of LSB in reboot mode? *I LOVE your take on them, please keep it up! You're an amazing artist :)*
((Ahh gosh thank you! I'm so glad that my takes on the trio have been so well recieved. I know 'modernizing' nostalgia can sometimes come with a mixed response, but so far nobody has send flaming lawn darts to my house for giving Lock a smartphone, so I call that a success.
My inspiration came from a LOT of sources. When it came to a 'reboot' mode, I took a look at what things I liked from modern reboots of older cartoons. For example, Ducktales 2017 and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. One thing about both of those properties was their use of a group cast where the 'main' characters were created in the past as a unit. And as a unit, they are fun and engaging, but you can only go so long before it's just four turtles going "haha pizza, cowabunga" or three ducks with different colored hats, and you kinda want to see them become characters who can work just as good as individual people as they do in a group. And both those reboots did that in an amazing way! And the humor tends to feel a little 'smarter', or doesn't treat the audience like they're dumb, and doesn't have to rely super heavily on pop culture references (but in all fairness, I think those can be funny when it comes to puns, like Tick Tock or Eye Phone), or feel super dated.
For Lock Shock and Barrel, I kind of wanted to flesh them out into characters who act like kids, and not constantly obsessed with resurrecting Oogie Boogie or being clones of each other. They're still chaotic and enjoy causing trouble and being a pain in the ass for Jack, but it's because they like to have fun in the context of their world, where death and maiming are way more socially accepted than in our world. They're not amoral brainless robots set out to destroy that world either, they have their own moral codes, flawed and still developing, but they've got 'em. And kids can be bratty! But even bratty kids have interests, quirks, likes, dislikes, etc, and they can grow out of that brattiness over time. I know some may think that my characterization of the three puts them in a bit too much of a 'good' light, but I don't really see them as set 'heroes' or 'villains' on this blog, moreso little rotten kids who are going through their everyday lives, and having their own sets of challenges to face.
Now onto their personalities individually, Lock was heavily inspired by Dewey Duck from the reboot of Ducktales, down to me headcanoning his voice actor for Lock's voice. They both are hyperactive, Gen-Z adjacent, into 'theatrics' and trends, and being the entertainer. But Lock's not as set on being 'heroic' as Dewey is, and he's not as morally adjusted either. He loves to be the center of attention, and it comes off as irritating arrogance a lot, and he's something of a hypocrite. He has poor self-esteem which he masks by inflating his ego whenever possible, and he's a big crybaby. He likes to be leader because he wants the attention and clout, but deep down, he just wants the security of knowing he won't be alone, and that his friends will be there for him whenever he needs them.
Shock had a lot of different inspirations. I drew a lot of ideas from characters like Lisa Simpson, known for her intelligence and social anxiety, Lena from Ducktales, who is often dry and sarcastic but warmhearted and caring, and Horse from Centaurworld, who's hardened and brash from the war-torn world she's from and has to learn to open herself up to others. There's a few others I drew inspiration from, but those were probably the big three. Shock may not have come from a 'war-torn world' per se but she's seen and experienced enough things in life to give her a deeper maturity and wisdom than the other two. She discovered her thirst for mischief and chaos when she met Lock and Barrel, and thrives on getting to use her intellect and cleverness to cause trouble, and make her forget about her worries. She's still struggling to open up to other people, and allow herself to be vulnerable, as she wants to be the strong one for her found family, and fears she won't be able to do that if she lets her guard down.
Barrel has a lot of inspirations too. I think a big one happened to be myself, as I tend to be a very smiley and cheerful person who loves their friends! I also took a look at characters like Steven Universe and King from the Owl House, who are sweet and childlike characters who develop a deeper maturity over time, and have something of troubled beginnings, but those beginnings do not stop them from being happy with life and their friends and family. Barrel, as I've characterized, had quite a rough beginning, losing their family and home very early in life, and being alone for a period of time before meeting Lock, their true big brother, and best friend. They've found more than enough things in life to make them happy, and so long as they have their family, they are happy with whatever happens. They just wish that Lock and Shock would truly see them for how smart they really are, and not see them as just the baby of the three. And over time, it has caused them to be a bit more blunt and sassy, but not in a mean way. But at the same time, Barrel is reluctant to stray too far from the other two, and as a result, they get roped into a lot of nasty pranks and schemes the other two pull that they almost would never do on their own. They're the most empathetic and moral of the three, and most adults think that when they're by themselves, they're a genuine sweetheart.
Sorry this is a lot of rambling, and honestly I could write a whole essay about the trio and how I characterized them, but that would take me DAYS. So enjoy this salad of words.))

Glad to see you excited for some comic, and more glad to see your blog back with color and an icon (I particulary always loved that header you had with Tim in a flying pony), keep going buddy always seeing your blog.
Thank you! I always like getting notifications and seeing your name, because I always enjoyed you
Lately I just been loving Marvel comics. I been reading nearly every single current ongoing in Marvel. Except the X-Men stuff, because those runs been going on longer than the rest, and I don't know how far back I'd need to read to understand them. But once I get the patience I'm gonna go in and read those too.
Sadly Amazing Spider-Man is...the opposite of good 'cause Spidey is my favorite, but I am enjoying the ongoing just called "Spider-Man" and Miles' Spider-Man run is currently really fun. So I still get my Spider fix.
So far only other runs I haven't enjoyed are Guardians of the Galaxy 'cause it's doing a mystery box storyline I simply don't care about, and I think it feels clunky. And Black Panther, not because I think it's bad, but because a lot of it relies on you knowing what happened in the last run, and I never read it, so I'm really lost. Which sucks, 'cause I think Black Panther is super cool. I'm still gonna keep up with it though to see if I can make sense out of it enough. He's not king anymore. I know that much.
Best though, is Fantastic Four. It's such a good comic. It's written so smoothly, and full of depth, while still mostly being light hearted, it's literally best described as fantastic. It blew me away.
They're not all equal, but they're all fun...besides Amazing Spider-Man which has recently just gotten very depressing. The opposite of fun.
Much better than DC, where I felt like I couldn't read any comic because it kept getting stuff wrong, and/or only cared about ripping off fandom stuff...that should've remained fandom stuff.
Can't believe Normie Osborn so far has a way better series than Tim Drake has for what feels like a long long time (Probably 'cause it has been a long long time). Red Goblin has a focus on Normie, and uses history to back up what he should be like. Whereas Tim's was just...the feeling of a total fan fiction that couldn't remain loyal to characterization, besides the most generalized stuff. Leaving it boring. And left characters like Bernard's unrecognizable to who they are.
Latest series I been digging into is Carnage, since I've always loved him, and it starring a villain is pretty different. It's intriguing, unique, surprisingly...somewhat adventurous? I'm not all the way through it. But I wanna catch up soon to see if I can understand this current Carnage related crossover event better. It lives up to it's name "Carnage", I've been surprised at the amount of violence in it. It does not hold back.
Basically, besides a few things, I really been loving Marvel. It's more at home for me.
(Also I lost that header lmao It's just gone)
