Merfolk!Viktor x Reader 01
MORE VIKTOR BRAINROT
i put way too much research into this, so pls comment and reblog
this is likely the beginning of a new series i have dubbed “cryptid!viktor”
part one of said series is my vampire!viktor oneshot, which is linked HERE
Tumblr media
you find the merman on a tuesday.
distracted by the sounds of a struggle, you leave your tiny room with all your notes aboard the ship and make your way above deck. only to stop and gawk at the sight before you.
he’s tangled in a net, thrashing about in a vain attempt to escape. the sailors are poking and prodding with harpoons as you rush forward and shove your way through them. they aren’t malicious. merely curious.
but that didn’t change the fact that they were injuring the poor creature.
you were on an expedition to find something, anything like him. while everyone laughed at your research, you pushed on nonetheless. officially, your job title was a cryptozoologist. a scientist studying unidentified creatures. which, in this case, you supposed that was right. but usually, you introduced yourself as just a simple scientist.
there were fewer questions that way.
“stop! STOP! you’re hurting him!” you shriek, and eventually, the fishermen stop stabbing at the mer. he’s bleeding from the various cuts and scratches and gripping at the ropes of the net with taloned fingers.
the merman is beautiful. with angry, almost glowing golden eyes and brown hair—he has two beauty marks, and scales are speckled across his high cheekbones. the scales are brown, and his tail is absolutely magnificent. it’s long and olive brown, with pale sides and a white underbelly. there is a ridge of what looks like either spikes or fins along his back. if you had to guess, he looked like a sturgeon. but there’s something about it that seems off. there’s an ashen pallor to his skin. as if he was born sick.
either way, he was amazing. you only wished you could study him. but it wasn’t fair to him to keep him as a specimen. so you had to let him go.
you talk the captain of the ship into releasing the poor thing back into the waters. but not before three of the men get bit by the merman’s sharp fangs, and one more gets a pretty good gash on his right arm from his claws.
you are tasked with the job of cutting the creature from the net. most likely because you are the only one who isn’t remotely scared of him. instead, you are so fascinated.
while the crew is curious, they are still scared. you hear mutterings about “sirens” and “demons.” it makes you laugh. don’t they know that merfolk and sirens are different creatures? but that was a can of worms you didn’t want to think about right now. especially as you climbed onto the railing of the ship to start sawing at the top of the net with a serrated knife provided by one of the sailors.
the merman can’t get out of the net fast enough. he convulses as the net drops back into the water and lands in the sea with a resounding ‘splash.’ part of you is sad to see him go. but you know deep in the recesses of your mind that letting him go was for the best.
you don’t expect ever to see him again. or to ever see another merman or maid again.
only for you to see him when you get back to land three days later.
you are sitting on the beach, the small waves lapping at your toes as you wrap your arms around your knees and lean your chin on top. the sun is setting, lighting the entire sky in shades of vibrant yellows, vivid oranges, and striking reds. just as you begin to nod off, you hear something strange. the sound of splashing.
the sound of something big splashing about.
so you open your eyes and see the merman watching you from a distance, just barely peeking his head above the waves as his golden eyes track your movements. but he flinches when you scream and fall backward.
“what the hell?!” you gape as he swims closer, his dorsal fin and caudal fin cutting through the water like a knife. his tail moves from side to side, not up and down.
strange.
so that theory of yours went out the window.
eventually, the merman pulls himself up onto the shore, all the while, his eyes bore into yours. wasn’t this behavior considered threatening? you knew it was in dogs and maybe even cats.
was he about to eat you?
you ask him as such in a wavering voice. you had seen what his teeth and claws could do—had seen how they had torn flesh easily.
he only stares in apparent confusion, and you realize abruptly that he may not speak your language. you smack your forehead with the palm of your hand, feeling incredibly stupid.
of course!
fish couldn’t communicate with humans, so why would merfolk? they likely had a language all their own! that was a theory of yours that was correct. at least one of them was.
oh, how you wished you could communicate and ask him your questions.
you offer what you hope is a friendly smile. and promptly panic when you realize you have no idea what that could mean for a creature like the merman before you. sure, you had your theories. in dogs, it was seen as a submissive behavior. but you could have sworn that it was  threatening behavior in chimpanzees and other apes.
either way, you had no idea what you were doing. all your life, you had wanted to see a cryptid. an animal undefined by science and not necessarily documented. but now that you were face to face with one, you had no clue how to act.
“i need to give you a name,” you whisper to yourself, and the merman makes a crooning noise. something soft and unsure. he still likely has no clue what you are saying.
the name is more for yourself than him. you don’t want to call him “the creature” or “the merman” forever. so you wrack your brain for potential names.
“viktor.” you eventually decide, “i’ll call you viktor.”

Thoughts on them meshing the Acrane and League lore? I am really unhappy with the decision because it means some of my favorite champions will be completely reworked. I honestly just wished they kept the two separate. I also think it's a horrible move on a story telling front, too, because now the Arcane team will be restricted by canon which is what made Arcane so fun and good in the first place. They got to experiment and explore characters and I am terrified for the future of Arcane after this decision.
Overall, I think it was a horrible decision and I can only hope they decide to go back on it, but I highly doubt it. Apparently Riot just really hates its writers and it's lore community lmao
It is a really, really bad decision, yeah. Arcane's greatest strength was arguably that it could tell good and interesting stories about its characters entirely unburdened by 13 years of shambolic canon MESS from the main game. Its version of Viktor simply could not ever have happened if Arcane had to respect canon, it could NEVER have done what it did with Singed or Heimerdinger or the Void.
The way they're trying to solve that is by saying "okay, ARCANE represents the canon now, and we'll change THE MAIN GAME to suit it" but that just creates exactly the same problem the other way around. Now the canon of the main game (and Legends of Runeterra and the Forge games) is going to be completely fucked by being forced to be shackled to whatever Arcane wants to do.
Arcane is predicated, it is a huge and important central part of its canon that magic is rare, that it is incredibly special and unusual, and that spellcasters and sorcerers are essentially fucking cryptids to the rest of the world. That is WHY being able to harness magic through Hextech is such a revolutionary technology, because it makes magical power accessible not just to the very few, but to the world.
But hang on a fucking second, the premise of DEMACIA AS A REGION is that magic is common, that it is normal and abundant and plentiful enough that the magical population of the country can launch a full scale insurrection to claim their rights.
The Demacian storyline requires it to be true that mages are commonly born into ordinary families, that everyone in the country knows someone who's a mage or someone whose kid or cousin is a mage, and that mages and magicians are commonly understood to be living in various states of hiding all throughout the country as a normal part of their communities.
And before anyone goes "yes but Piltover was founded to get away from the destruction of the Rune Wars so..." remember, so was Demacia, and it was founded inside a forest of magic-suppressing petricite trees.
Which means if Arcane is the central fount of canon now, Demacia... simply cannot exist in that universe. Not in any way that we would recognize it. And neither can any of the other regions, really. If magic is rare, mysterious and unknown to the vast majority of ordinary people, then Shurima doesn't work. Bilgewater doesn't work. The Freljord doesn't work. Not as they exist currently.
So either the main canon gets CATASTROPHICALLY retconned to hell to suit Arcane, or else Arcane has to very awkwardly retcon its own foundational premise to be like "uuuuh actually magic is normal and common in far away places in the world and everyone there is totally chill about it, and it's JUST Piltover that happens to randomly be founded in a place where mages don't get born and also they never travel to Piltover and also nobody from Piltover ever travels to places where mages are common."
Like, there simply is not a good way to merge the world state of Arcane with the world state of Runeterra as a whole without completely destroying important parts of either, and what gets me is there isn't even any real benefit to fucking doing it.
Seriously! What's the benefit? What does anyone get out of doing this? The only actual tangible benefit is that it will eventually (after like five years of constant retcons) be slightly easier for people who watched Arcane to understand what's happening on Summoner's Rift, which... who cares? The whole point of Arcane is that it expanded the reach of Runeterra to people who don't give a shit what League of Legends is! People who watched Arcane aren't going to tune in to Worlds and be like "oh my god that's Viktor getting a pentakill! That's the blorbo from my show, hooray, I am going to buy SKT T1 merch about it!"
This decision reeks from a million miles away of executive bullshit. It reeks of some bro in a graphic tee under a suit jacket wearing ugly $1000 sneakers being like "we should totally unify our brand appeal under a single consolidated IP umbrella to maximize audience engagement metrics" without any creative understanding of why different storytelling works for different mediums and you can't just find-replace a few keywords to turn 13 years of MOBA canon into TV show canon.
It's such a fundamental failure to understand that there is POWER in telling different stories in different mediums. Fucking Disney+-ass MCU-brained brand thinking is what it is.

“Viktor and Yuuri are Yurio’s parents!” Yeah that’s cute n all but I disagree. V&Y are the strange, cryptid queer uncles that you don’t hear from for a long time, then randomly show up to family gatherings unannounced for the sole purpose of sowing as much chaos as they possibly can.

I think the biggest tragedy about Diego is how close he was to having a normal life.
The majority of the other siblings (with the possible exception of Allison, although the more we learn about the scope of her powers, the more unlikely I think it is) were probably never going to have anything approaching normalcy, no matter where they ended up. Luther was always going to be incredibly strong. Klaus was always going to see the dead. Five would always be able to manipulate space and time, Ben would always have something monstrous just beneath his skin, Viktor would have been incredibly powerful, if unsuppressed by Reginald. None of that equates to normalcy. It doesn’t make the abuse they suffered from Reginald any less tragic, but it ensures that, by and large, their powers would have made them recognizably different from others, no matter where they ended up, in a way that would have interfered with them living a normal life.
And then there’s Diego. Diego, who came so close to being someone’s unusual story—this guy they knew once who could stay underwater for longer than anyone you’ve ever seen, and who won his beer money every weekend because he’s never once lost a game of darts. Casually weird, but not unbelievably so. Just a guy with some odd quirks. “My mom had one of those cryptid pregnancies,” he said once. Someone laughed at him, said, “I think they’re called cryptic.” “Yeah, whatever.” No one questioned it.
I dunno. I think about it a lot.

Vampire!Viktor x Female!Reader 01
i’ve been having brain rot about vampire!viktor and a female!reader, and just—
this is now a series i’ve dubbed cryptid!viktor! here’s a little blurb about merman!viktor :) linked HERE
Tumblr media
you first meet him when you go to explore a decrepit old mansion on the hill of your little village in the middle of the night. the year is 18th century something, and you hike your skirts up as you scale the tall wrought iron fence surrounding the estate. except as you climb the wall, you realize it’s basically rusted steel.
why was that? wasn’t steel more expensive than iron?
this was a bad idea, but you were always curious and liked old things. they made you sad. but in a good way.
the estate is just as drab and creepy up close as it was far away. but you are astounded by the detail. gargoyles and griffons positioned at the tops of the corners keep watch over the massive house, and their stone eyes seem to follow you as you approach the large front door.
the door is made of wood, and there is a large cast iron (again, you realize it’s steel) knocker in the shape of what looks like a demon with horns. is it a bad omen? you clutch your necklace tight in your fist as you reach for the door knocker and knock twice.
nothing.
the door is unlocked, and you have to put your entire body weight against it in order to open the beast of a door. inside is almost pitch black, and you hoist your bag that’s been strapped against your torso until now, and pull out a packet of matches. then feeling along the wall, you find a candelabra and use the match to light the dusty candles.
the room is illuminated by the warm glow, and you swear you see glowing golden eyes in the corner. but as you look closer, they simply disappear.
talk about spooky.
cobwebs hang from the chandelier, and the air is thick with dust, making you sneeze and almost blow your candles out. a breeze comes through the open door, and the flames flicker and go out.
suddenly you get a very, very bad feeling.
“who are you?” comes an accented voice, and you jump, whirling and feeling your skirts swish against your heeled boots as you look up to the top of the massive staircase.
the man is dressed immaculately in a cravat, a pristine white long-sleeved shirt with puffy sleeves, a wine-red vest, and slim trousers that hug his legs all the way down to his shined shoes. his hair is a dark chocolate brown, and his eyes are that glowing golden color.
the eyes from before.
“i did knock,” you say hastily, and he scoffs,
“i heard you. now who are you?” is all he says in return, and you spin on a heel, dropping the candelabra and sprinting for the door.
only for it to slam shut, leaving you beating against the wood.
“let me out!” you shriek and turn back to face the man. he’s descended the stairs now and is but a few paces away. somewhere in the back of your mind, you realize he’s beautiful. with porcelain skin and two beauty marks dotting his cheeks. his eyes aren’t exactly gold, but a pretty amber that seemingly glows gold with unnatural power.
“no, i don’t think i will. what is your name?” he says, and you swallow as he gets closer, stuttering out your name.
but there’s something on his face that you can’t quite define.
“what are you going to do to me?” you whisper, and he tilts his head,
“that i am not sure of yet. but seeing as you trespassed on my property, i think i’ll figure out something,” he says and reaches for your throat.
only to recoil with a cry of pain and clutching his steaming hand.
you look down to see your silver necklace in the shape of a cross steaming as well. you weren’t particularly religious, but it was given to you by your father on his deathbed, and you had promised never to take it off.
it looks like even now; he’s watching over you.
but then the dots connect, and everything makes sense.
“are you a vampire?” you ask, and he glares with bared teeth. the sharpened incisors are proof of your claim.
but instead of fear, you feel curious.
but you don’t get the chance to ask any more questions as he turns and disappears without another word. literally, one second, he’s there, and the next, he’s simply gone in a wisp of the wind. mysteriously, the door opens, and you are let out without any more trouble. you all but run to the steel gates but turn back at the last second.
and see the man in the window, watching you as you scurry away like a mouse running from a cat.
as soon as you get home, the sun begins to rise, and your mother descends on you like the worried parent she is.
“where were you?! i was worried sick!” she all but shouts, and you flinch at the noise. you had scarcely opened the door when she had been up from her chair and across the dirt floor to grasp your elbows, scanning you up and down for any injuries.
which save for a minor burn mark against your skin from the necklace; you are just covered in dirt and minor scratches from running through the brush surrounding the mansion.
“i’m fine mother, i just went on a walk to the mansion up on the hill,” you say and realize quickly it was a mistake.
her face morphs into one of terror and anger. her grip on your arms loosens, and she frantically holds your face in her calloused hands. they’re worn with years of washing laundry in lye. she was a servant in baron silco’s estate as a laundry maid. you were a seamstress and tailoress who made clothing for noblemen and women who traveled through baron silco’s land.
but your job was beside the point. your mother looked like she was about to pass out from fear.
“you know that a monster haunts the mansion! you mustn't go up there ever again! promise me!” she chastises, and you nod in a daze.
for some reason, you can’t get that man out of your head.
and realize why as you sew the clothing of a noblewoman named caitlyn kiramman.
he looked old and lonely and oh so sad.
you resolve to yourself that you are going to visit again and try not to get killed.
you manage to sneak out a week later when your mother is fast asleep. it’s always been just the two of you ever since your father died, so at least you don’t have to worry about siblings or grandparents like many of the other peasants in your village. the trek up to the mansion is shorter than you remember, the worn dirt leading the way as your eyes adjust in the bright moonlight.
again, the door is unlocked, and the windows are empty. you ease it open, wincing at the squealing hinges echoing into the night. if he didn’t know you were coming, he certainly did now.
he’s waiting for you at the top of the stairs. his eyes widen almost imperceptibly when he recognizes it’s you.
“what are you doing here? here to kill me?” he asks, and you stop in your tracks.
“what? no! i’m here… well… i’m here because you looked sad.” you say, trailing off at the end, realizing how ridiculous you sounded. your skirts are clenched in your fists, and your apron is rough against your fingertips.
“you’re here… because i looked… sad?” his tone is colored with shades of confusion and curiosity. but he didn’t seem angry, and that was good. so you nod,
“it sounds stupid i know—”
“it is stupid. leave now,” the man commands, and you freeze at the commanding tone in his voice. it booms through the large room, making you feel as small as a dust mite in his presence. he turns to ascend the rest of the stairs toward one of the mansion’s many corridors, and you panic. you didn’t want to come all this way for nothing.
“wait!” you cry and hurry up the steps after him, hiking your skirts up and scurrying up the stairs after the retreating man. he doesn’t stop, doesn’t slow down, if anything, he speeds up slightly. the halls are dark and filled with more cobwebs, but you find as you get closer to the heart of the mansion, they grow less prominent, and the torches are actually lit. the man shuts a door behind him, and you open it before he can lock it.
“i just want to talk!” you say, and he turns to look at you. before he can say anything, you get a good look around the room.
it’s lit by oil lamps and candelabras. papers are strewn about between two desks, and they’re also covered in various gears and gadgets. you spy a few handkerchiefs covered in grease in under a few papers. a bed is in the corner and neatly made blood-red bedsheets are spread over the mattress. it looks comfier than anything you have ever seen.
abruptly, you realize he’s started talking.
“—want you to leave,” he says curtly, and you bite your cheek.
“aren’t you lonely?” you ask quietly, and he freezes, his back to you.
you seize your chance and ask another question,
“what’s your name?” you ask, and he turns his head slightly, looking at you out of the corner of his eye.
“it’s viktor.”

A question for the mun; May I ask what are your favorite trolls in the ftc as a whole?
Oh geez, I feel like this is always changing for me because I keep getting to know amazing new people and amazing new characters. I think I'll just name a few blogs and list my favorites from there, as I don't think I can pick out of the entire community when it's full of people I also don't know or haven't interacted with (yet!).
Quite a few of them belong to my partner @mageofspacemultiverse as I've known those the longest and have quite a few ships between us. A few of my favorite characters from him are Zomson, Hidelord, Devaron, and Pixcel. Each character of his is unique and has interesting backstories and personality, and yet every one of them is so on-brand for his blog.
From @thestarlightbrigade I have always adored Deltra and MY LIL MAN HIBUKI. Special shout out to Iiboye too. Lots of edgy angsty characters but each one is a specific flavor that never gets tiring. Avery's vibe is I'm shaking him by the shoulders and biting him affectionately. That is to say, he's a fun guy and silly to talk to. Prepare to get cat-gif'd.
@stuckstucktrolls I thirsted after Viktor since day 1 bruh. He's the Troll I am most familiar with besides Teagan. Creative characters and also very pretty, the lot of them. Cool cat boy cryptid gets the seal of approval from royal moth cryptid.
@goddesstrolls Kairos and Kairne. Ik Kairne isn't on the blog anymore but I thought he was pretty damn neat tbh. One of the first characters I knew Bast by. Also um... my (ex)wife Akidis, I love her to bits and pieces, and my male-wife Darvai. Buff women and bastard men run this blog, and all the world build and narratives Bast has come up with over the years are SO -chefs kiss- .
@miks-fantrolls Antemh <3 Sticking him under a microscope fr. I don't know a lot about anyone else, but maybe that'll change sometime. I don't know a lot about Mik but I personally think he's cool af. Mik if you're reading this I'm staring at you with wet pathetic eyes and offering you an egg in these trying times.
@roetrolls Veylin <3 She makes my heart happy. Also Franky, I would give him the world. Mallum is up there, too. Roe makes a lot of characters that are compelling, friend-shaped, and possesses you with the Funny Horrors (aka I can't stop laughing every time I see 'Dominion' on a street sign or pub. Like, it's the kind of joy that's like 'I know that guy! That guy belongs to this really cool person that I look up to! How silly that he has a bar named after him!' )
@sasster ...................... Redivi.................. Look, one could argue and say it's because he's a vampire and I'm absolutely a vampire simp 100%. But. But he's *terrifying* and that's a big reason why he's a favorite Chase Troll of mine. Compelling, scary, but recognizable as people we may know in our every day lives. An ever so loved face and name, but there's always something behind the scenes that we can't see. There's a performance for the world, while on back stage the true colors show. Mind you, I am extremely behind in the lore of the blog, but that guy? Man. That guy.
@windy-trickster -slaps the top of this guy's blog- This blog can fit so many funky lil dudes filled with unique lore and fantastic personalities and oh my god the angst. My favorites among them are Doleos, Rastho, and Althor. Windy is a creative writer and puts SO much love into his characters. Like for real, it's always a pleasure listening to him talk about them. It's clear he puts in a lot of love and effort into his guys, and I think y'all should go and see that for yourself.
@askthehiddencaste Shuska and Ashoal. I feel like Shuska is the face of the blog (i mean, the entire theme is a library, so), and she's such a charming character. Warm, friendly, but she's STRONG in spirit. Ashoal and Shuska are the two I'm most familiar with aside from Heliel (I want that goopy man carnally). Kanny has a lot of fascinating characters that all feel like a natural family to me. I could hang out with their characters and feel right at home.
@experimental-failures The only one I'm familiar with is Nix, so I guess he's my favorite by proxy-- BUT! I've always thought Nix was very neat. He feels like a guy I can run into out on the street irl. He feels so real to me, and it's always a pleasure.
@the-rainbow-overflow Elnric and Viroxa. Two very interesting characters for vastly different reasons, lol! I love the alternate timeline stuff Elnric has going on, and I feel soft for this guy mostly because it's the first Troll I knew Dusk by. Viroxa is... oh boy, god damn, a bastard? Such a manipulative and cunning guy where the ends justify the means, and I am OBSESSED. Bonus points that he's a scientist guy, ya know? We all love unhinged scientists. Kissing him on the cheek even if he may take my lips as donation and sew it onto someone else. Special mention to Makona as well, I am unwell about HISStory of Violence <3
@trollbreak Um, Bladed, teehee -twirls hair- Jonah has SOOO many lil guys. Silly lil guys! Some of these silly lil guys commit murder and treason! Some of them will give you plushies and Autism Creature stare at you as a means of friendship. Heehoo is my ultimate favorite, and Bladed is close second, but I adore Jonah and all of their characters.
@clown-fuckers-r-us Montague!!!! MONTAGUE!!!! MY BELOVED!!! CRYING WEEPING AAAAAAAA-- ahem. So um Montague is my favorite, he's so cool? I'm so invested in his story and not just because I have a ship going with that guy but his concept is so intresting??? A Purple with anger issues, rich and privileged but kind and loving-- now ruined by a broken mind and psyche, his one scrap of salvation that keeps him from fully losing himself being the memory of a lover that he hasn't seen since before the war on Limebloods... You should definitely go share some love with Bun, the mun of the blog; she's an AMAZING person, truly a wonderful friend, and one of the most nicest people I know.
@moonlit-trolls Tythus by far. It's been SO neat seeing Tythus grow and develop as a character. Moona and I made Ptillo and Tythus together, and while Tythus had some shaky beginnings as Moona was figuring him out, it definitely solidified and paid off in the end. Tythus is a compelling villain imo with complex goals and ambitions. Not to mention what a SILVER FOX HE IS GOD DAMN. You go girl, make that man hot and pathetic <3
I'm running out of steam for this post; if you're not listed on here it doesn't mean I don't have favorites or that I don't like you. There's A LOT of trolls to keep track of in the community and a lot of members too. Everyone has such amazing characters that I cannot possibly list them all off. Keep doing what you're doing, and remember that even if it feels a little pointless at times or that nobody cares, there ARE people who enjoy the content you put out-- whether its art, writing, silly little tidbits, or whatever else! There's people out there who will think about you over the smallest of things and smile, people who will think about you and your characters and feel inspired, people who may be too shy to interact but love and appreciate you and what you do. Whether you're a big or small blog or something in between, thank you for being part of the FTC.

🗝 I'm currently writing Victoria Darken, a part-comedy, part-horror, sapphic love story about a feral scientist in a city full of cryptids, set in the 1910s. 🗝
🥼 I have other projects going on behind the scenes, too... let's just say I love cosplay! 🥼
🧪 Feel free to drop by anytime to ask me a question or just to chat. I post a lot more memes than art. Anyone can interact, as long as: 🧪

⚠️ My name is Ellis, but I also go by Corvus and Viktor because those are my personally-selected middle names and they go hard. ⚠️
☣️ I'm a baby punk, new to the subculture, and I'd love tips and band recs! ☣️
💉 I write my own music, and want to get into dollmaking and wig styling. 💉
🥩 My whole aesthetic is a combination of, like... rotting meat, mad-science-looking-radioactive stuff, and classic punk, so my blog is kind of styled like that. 🥩
☢️ I'm a big fan of a lot of things, but I don't like fandom culture just because of a long history of being bullied. ☢️
💚 I alternate my text like this to help my pals with ADHD read through long text faster, it really works! 💚

Tags I use:
Fnoof: this is how I tag FNaF-related posts. I also have "Link" for all of the Zelda franchise and "he head a cup" for Cuphead. I'm very sorry for being cringe about my favorite video games. It will happen again.
Link: We just explained this
He head a cup: we just explained this, too
VD stuff: me rambling about my webcomic
BP rambles: literally anything I said, in the tags or my own post, that I think is funny. There's some gems in there.
VD spoilers: this is, obviously, spoilers for my comic. Spoilers/gore/other stuff like that is always tagged with a simple tw tag.
Mother Corporation: this is my FNaF AU that I had to make because I couldn't bear to let one of the games of all time rot in a muddle of confusing plotlines and pixel-art character models when I could rewrite half the games on a whim. It's actually pretty good, and only about as canon-deviant as the books and stuff, but I'm aware it's cringe of me so you can filter that tag out if you want.
I love you platonically: positivity and mental health reminders
Summoning the mutuals: I'm tagging people in this post and it could be you.
Peace and love on planet punk rock: this has been a psa about what punk is (a subculture about self-expression, uplifting those smaller than you, and overthrowing bigotry) and what it is not (homophobia, racism, transphobia, etc)
Daily reminder to stay alive: all the posts from my "list to stay alive" queue. I could've made a sideblog, but those always take a long time to get going and I get hundreds of reblogs from friends here who needed it. I'm just glad to help people with them.
Ellis' sketchbook/Blackplaaague's sketchbook: art posts also uploaded on my sideblog @blackplaaaguesketchbook

I'll keep adding new tags and updates as I get new interests and such. This blog is as fluid as I am.
Please keep in mind that, even though I do not have a 200-page DNI, hate, bullying, harassment, or prejudice of any kind is not allowed on this blog. In the tags, the comments, the reblogs, nothing. If you send hateful content to my mutuals and my blog, you're getting blocked on sight. This is a safe space.

Mini event — The Royal Tutor and Supernatural Detective AU
Of course, anon dear! Thanks so much for sending in the request and I hope you'll enjoy!
Setting up this AU, I will say I see it being set kind of somewhere more modern-day. If I was to write it out as a story, it probably wouldn't be true modern day but somewhere in between, set between the early 2010's at the latest and late 90's at the earliest. It's very much something set firmly in the same kind of reality and world we live in too, with some small changes.
Those small changes? Well, everyone knows magic doesn't exist, right? It's all stage tricks, mentalists, HBO and Vegas specials. The paranormal is just something that crackpots on the internet get obsessed with, with conspiracy theories and talks of cryptid huntings and a new wave of 'reality' ghost series. That's just pretty much accepted facts.
Except that's not the truth. In this setting, the paranormal and supernatural very much exists, it's just not something most people would ever come across and when they do come across it, most human people are in danger from it. Those who are supernatural in some way do a lot of work to make sure humanity doesn't find out about them, after all. Magic, cryptids, curses…all of this is very real and very serious.
And nobody knows this better than the von Glanzreich family. Descended from the city's founder, it's said that in their distant past, one of the sons of the original founder brought a curse onto the family by stealing away a fairy princess to marry. It's said that the men of the family are all cursed to die an early and painful death and the women of the family are all cursed to mourn greatly throughout their lives. That curse, along with the mixing of fairy and human blood, are said to give members of the von Glanzreich family incredible talents but bad luck. Of course, nowadays, that's mostly told as fairy tales to the family members children and nobody quite takes it seriously.
Except for the fact that Viktor von Glanzreich, chief of police for the Glanzreich city police department, definitely takes it very seriously. He knows it to be the truth…after all, there's really no other way for him to explain his own special talent of precognition. And he sees the gifts in those who went before him in his family…and while the world chalks up the fact that no male von Glanzreich has lived past their fifties to bad genetics or potential early inbreeding, Viktor very much believes in the curse. He made sure to tell the stories to his own children, still does even though they are all adults now, much to his children's displeasure. He tries to make sure they believe, though he never does divulge his own powers. He just doesn't know how to talk about it, especially since it was drilled into him that he should never talk about it from his own parents.
Do any of his children believe? None of them truly do, not really…not that they'd admit, at least, not even to their own family. They believe in bits and spells, especially when their own talents start to appear, though all of the current von Glanzreich children do their best to tamper down any 'gifts' they have inherited through their blood. If they can just pretend they don't exist, if they can just be normal…it's not just a wanting to fit into society at large, though there is that aspect, but each child feels as if they are the only person experiencing these weird things. No one else in their family seems to have these issues and, deep in their hearts, part of why they all try so hard to deny and hide these parts of themselves is because they don't want to be the black sheep of the family. They don't want to be the freak or the crazy person.
So, with your father the chief of police, and coming from a family that has a long history of law enforcement, what do you do with yourself? All of the von Glanzreich children know that answer as they all grew up and went into policing themselves. Keep the family business going, after all.
Eins, cursed with the talent of true, supernatural empathy, cursed to feel the emotions of everyone around him on top of his own swirling emotions, pushes through the day and finds it easier to ride a desk than be out walking a beat. He becomes his father's right hand man at One PP, serving a variety of roles from behind that desk.
However, Kai, Bruno, and Leonhard all graduated from the police academy, walked their beats, even got promotions (though, given who their father is, there's a lot of hostility towards them for that). Kai is a Sergeant, normally paired with rookies from the Academy as they walk the beat. Bruno is a detective, and there's been a lot of talk about Leonhard soon joining him in that rank. Licht has just graduated from the academy and is starting to walk a beat himself when the story itself really starts.
So how does the story start? With the chief of police creating a new unit, the Special Affairs unit. He chose a childhood friend and retired FBI detective to head it…everyone is confused about this retired detective too, seeming as they look like a literal child still. Of course, that detective is Heine Wittgenstein. Another thing that has everyone a little annoyed and confused? No one outside of the unit is really given any information on the purpose of the Unit or the cases they work. All the majority of the police force know is that the unit exists, and not helping the bullying received because of the belief nepotism is very real, that the police officers selected to work the unit consists of only the von Glanzreich children.
Of course, we all probably already know that the Special Affairs Unit exists to solve cases that have some sort of paranormal explanation or component to them. The story is not only about the case, but also Heine really teaching the von Glanzreich children to accept not only the existence of the supernatural, but to embrace their own family curse and their own supernatural talents and them all to really bond together and grow as people and as police officers.
For anyone interested in some little world-building parts here, this is what I figure each talent would be. Of course, Heine is also someone suffering from a supernatural curse that he obtained on one of his own cases over the years and that curse is also why he retired. It's so much easier to hide the fact that you never age, that you're cursed with life immortal, after all, if you're not around the same people day in and day out.
Kai, of course, has physical strength superior to that of normal humans and a enhanced healing rate superior to that of normal folks. He doesn't appear to have a real strong sense of pain either.
Bruno has the ability to 'read' objects and people, to learn the history of those people or things he touches. While he's still actively trying to avoid his power, because of his aversion to touching others or being too close to them, a lot of people assume that he's snobbish, stuck up, or some crazy germophobe and his reputation probably suffers the worst out of all the children's.
Leonhard seems to share similar powers to his father. He can sometimes see not glimpses of the past or future though, but catches glimpses of life though the eyes of someone else. Though it mostly only happens when he's dreaming, there have been times when he zones out and experiences these visions while awake and that's actually part of what Heine helps teach Leonhard - how to control what he sees and when he sees it.
Licht is incredibly charismatic, supernaturally so, and not only draws people to him but can seem to almost bend them to his will. He can make people do what he wants, if he so chooses to lean into his power, and that fact terrifies him. He lives his life unsure of whether people actually like him for who he is or because he's forcing them to like him and he's the one who has the hardest time accepting his talent fully and not seeing it as an additional curse.
As for the first case I see them working and where I'd really set the first story of the series (and yes, it would definitely be a series of stories, if I chose to sit down and write them), it starts with a small town near Glanzreich City. A town that just…disappears, along with the entirety of its population. It's still physically there, but everyone just forgets it exists. It was never there, in the minds of almost everyone, and those that approach it on the road are supernaturally compulsed to detour so they never enter the town. Why was this town taken? Can the town be brought back and its citizens saved? Well, that would be the goal of the story, to find out!
