So, here's a thought about the idea that Qi Xiaotian is Underworld x Sun Wukong- in the original text, Macaque was a metaphor for a person's darker side, Wukong's darkest impulses. We never even saw what he actually looked like because he spent most of the chapter transformed into Wukong and he died.

So, maybe the whole harbinger thing is a reference to that. Wukong's darkest impulses are killed, maybe without a metaphor, and that part of his soul gets sent down to the Underworld. That part is scooped up, repackaged in the stone egg, and left to soak up Flower Fruit Mountain and Sun Wukong energy for an extra boost.

I'm reading a summary of the jttw chapters (ch. 56-58) with the six-eared Macaque in them, and apparently "not even the imp-reflecting mirror [could] tell them apart" ("Origin of the Six-Eared Macaque and the Character’s Influence on Black Myth: Wukong" by JTTW Research). In lmk, this imp-reflecting mirror is the demon revealing mirror from 2x02, which I've had a lot of fun thinking about in reference to MK.

During Wukong and false-Wukong's fight, they traveled down to the underworld, and then they were sent to the Buddha who recognized the imposter immediately. The Buddha then gave an explanation of the 4 spiritual primates (which feels relevant to a conversation around MK and his relation to Wukong for obvious reasons), and he's able to identify Wukong's double as the six-eared Macaque. Macaque senses that he is in danger, and he turns into a bee to attempt to escape.

JTTW Research's article also brings attention to Wukong embodying the concept of a "Mind Monkey" (typically paired with the phrase "Idea Horse"), which is a Buddhist concept describing "restlessness, capriciousness, and lack of control in one's thoughts". In the Villains Wiki (which isn't the most reputable source but it brings up an interesting concept), the six-eared Macaque is referred to as representing "what Wukong could become had the latter chose power and chaotic freedom over protecting Sanzang." This is in line with what Macaque highlights in 4x11, "Wukong was on a path of self-destruction—we all were. But when he met the monk, it set him on a different path."

Ch. 58 of JTTW also calls attention to the concept of "non-duality", and as JTTW Research discusses "One mind” (Sk: ekacitta; Ch: yixin, 一心) is a high-level philosophy and core tenet of many Buddhist schools that refers to a tranquil, immovable mind that encompasses non-duality". If an individual has two minds instead of one mind, "disasters he’ll breed; / He’ll guess and conjecture both far and near”. I find this idea of "non-duality" super interesting, especially in context with MK's two distinct identities: his identity as "MK" and his identity as the "Monkey Kid"—his identity as a "Regular Noodle Delivery Boy" and as a "Monkey Demon". MK is constantly at war with himself, and I feel that his path as a "Mind Monkey" involves the restlessness that comes with mental illness and neurodiversity. So MK's own path forward will involve him stepping off the path of self-destruction—which means reconciling the different parts of himself, to be "one mind".

Now, this doesn't offer an explanation for MK's origins, but I do think the concept of pre-stone MK being "what Wukong could become had he chosen power and chaotic freedom" is worth discussing. I've always posited/enjoyed the idea that Wukong gave MK a second chance (with the reincarnations of the pilgrims), just like Wukong himself was given a second chance. With MK being given the title of "Harbinger of Chaos" in s4, and Wukong's original trajectory being one of chaos, MK has the potential to go/have gone farther than his mentor ever did.

I redesigned Harvey Dent

Basically all I did was make him gayer, anyway time for design notes and bonus Harvey without the coat

I'm not explaining how he became Two-Face because that would literally just be me explaining the lead up to and the plot of the Long Halloween with a few changes. I will however explain other parts of his life though… mostly just because I have to in order to explain his mental disorder. But what I will say is he and Bruce Wayne attended school together and were really good friends up until he became Two-Face. At which point their relationship became strained and difficult but Bruce would still describe them as friends, Two-Face idk if he would.

So basically as is almost a requirement for rogues at this point, Harvey had a really shit childhood. Mostly in relation to his father who was insanely abusive, this abuse led to Harvey developing DID (dissociative identity disorder) with his only alter being Harv (idk that's just the name I'm going with for now). Harv like in theory would be considered a protector but like he goes about it in not great ways, in some ways mirroring their fathers actions. Prior to becoming Two-Face, Harv like wouldn't front fully except when Harvey was in like really bad situations, and once Harvey left home was pretty I guess dormant until the Long Halloween stuff. To note Harvey was to some degree aware of Harv but didn't really understand like what was going on for a really long time. When Harvey had his mental break after the incident that left him disfigured, that and all the events leading up to it resulted in both Harvey and Harv fronting at the same time, and from then on it's very rare for only one of them to front. (I know that's like a bit illogical but we're also talking about Batman villains here).

I would like to clarify all the events during the Long Halloween prior to the incident were like 100% Harvey, like Harv was not involved, if anything Harv probably would've been more inclined to prevent Harvey's actions. Anyway personality time, pre Two-Face Harvey was basically a golden boy with a few anger issues, and despite his apparent belief in the justice system and doing stuff the right way, he didn't really adhere to all that (see literally everything that happened in the Long Halloween). Basically despite how others saw him as like a beacon of morality and like wanting the best for Gotham and being a good person, he like actually wasn't great, although admittedly as assistant D.A and D.A he did do some good work. Post becoming Two-Face he's obsessed with duality and his warped version of morality and justice, and is more openly violent. Harv isn't like the same as Harvey but they do share similarities, he's very defensive and protective, but he's more impulsive and his actions are based more on instinct and anger, and in terms of violence he's not more violent he's just a bit more sadistic. But really Harv exists in theory to do what's best for Harvey, and it isn't a case of Harvey's good and Harv's bad, both are complicated and the idea that one of them is good and the other is bad is a result of Harvey and his almost hatred of Harv, often projecting his issues onto him and for a long time believing that Harv is evil and a culmination of the negative parts of himself. Harvey had to spend a lot of years doing a lot of self reflection and therapy and stuff and it took him a long time to come to terms with Harv and the reality of their situation. I would like to note they do still have the coin gimmick, sometimes it is "do we do the right thing or the wrong thing" but sometimes the "right" thing and the "wrong" thing are both not great things, because as I said Harvey's prescribing to his own warped sense of morality and justice (also the coin is his dad's coin).

Okay design notes, he dresses pretty boring and basic before becoming Two-Face, because well he's a D.A not much room for fashion there, although he did always have some interest in fashion and like different styles of clothing but never got like the chance to explore that. As Two-Face they has the whole split gimmick with their clothes, the "Harvey" side often being nicer more toned down clothes, and the "Harv" side being more unusual clothes with clashing patterns and colours. Sometimes they do dress "nicer" but they'll still maintain the whole 50/50 split thing. As a result of the incident the left side of his face, part of the left of their neck, most of gis left hand and forearm, are disfigured, with a few patches across their chest and left upper arm from where the acid melted through Harvey's clothes. Don't question how he has more hair and how it's not really fried, comic logic. Also just to be "quirky" and "different" I guess his face isn't split exactly 50/50 I just liked the look of it being more uneven better. Oh also he still wears his wedding ring. Arkham, Two-Face is pretty chill unless someone sets them off so they don't have to deal with cuffs or a straight jacket or anything when out of their cell. I don't know how they got a mismatched uniform, I personally think it's funny if Arkham did it specially hoping that somehow it'd make them more content with being in a fucking asylum.

Random additional notes, they're bi, both Harvey and Harv although Harv doesn't particularly care for any kind of relationship. I wouldn't say they're friends with any of the rogues, but they've had close relationships with a few of them but those relationships do not last and often turn sour. I like to think they know how to sew and tailor and a lot of their clothes are made/modified by them. Also to clarify the use of both he/him and they/them pronouns. He/him is used if I'm referring to Harvey or Harv individually, they/them if I'm referring to them together since they do share a body and are both fronting the majority of the time.

Well, I think I explained why Apollo is how he is in an earlier answer: he is very much favored by the status quo and his father and pretty much everyone else, so as often happens to people when they are given everything they want and things come easily to them, he learns to expect things to always go his way, and doesn't handle it well when they don't.

That's not to say this is the only way to write him or anything, but I am trying to give a little more in terms of personalities than the myths do, because the story I'm telling is... fundamentally different from the source material. Not in the sense of 'plots,' but in the sense of what elements of the story are emphasized. Myths are not exactly the sort of cozy, slice-of-life-with-a-side-of-action-and-drama that I'm going for, so I have to kinda fill things in.

As for myths, I guess I'd say a big part of what's informing this version of Apollo and his dynamic with other characters is the story of Coronis.

And lastly, the Dionysian part of the PC is more or less yours to determine. I've been trying to hint that they can lean towards more chthonic powers, and after the developments of chapter seven, it may be more clear how some of that is going to work. Intoxication, revelry, and a certain kind of 'madness' are all on the table, as are slightly 'darker' takes on some life-type powers, which I think fit thematically at least.

Of course, my take on all of this is just one. I'm stringing it together thus because I think it'd be a fun story, not to give the most textbook or faithful or plausible interpretation of myth.

The most consistent thing about Speirs, to me, is his deliberateness. Ron isn't nearly as impulsive as his actions would lead someone to think. He does things because he knows the risks, has already considered them. He is highly intelligent in that regard — his brain works fast, he picks an objective, he executes without hesitance. Ron isn’t Ron without his temper but I don’t think he’s the type of guy who starts just punching things on a whim when he gets mad. He’s prideful, finds a certain satisfaction in knocking someone down a peg when they get a big head, and stubborn as a mule.

He’s especially clever and good at manipulating situations to serve him. Especially prominent with his general disregard for dispelling rumors about himself. He isn’t going to add to his own tales but if you ask him directly about it he has a pension for being vague in his responses, letting others brains fill in the blanks.

All this to say that Ron is someone who … cares deeply. There’s a duality to him to be maintained — sincerity in bluntness, protectiveness in ferocity, he’s insightful and he knows the people he serves with. He maintains a small circle as most officers do, and he isn’t especially emotional, leaning towards logic and solutions first and foremost; but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that he’s emotionally constipated or doesn’t know how to express it, he just doesn’t see it as productive in a war setting.

Introvert but not shy, prefers the company of himself and maybe a few others rather be than large groups. There’s a distinction there — he’s not someone who second guesses his words but he’s just … not especially talkative in large groups. Get a couple drinks in him and he’ll sing a different tune.

Hi Monica! Making you choose if you want to: Damon or Klaus? Not to sound like a Damon stan because obviously even semi-reformed Damon has major serious flaws, but somehow Damon is still more loving and ultimately redeemable to me than Klaus, who's just so sadistic and vicious even by TVD standards! Not saying Klaus doesn't have any good sides, because he does, but Damon's good sides seem closer to the surface and come out more easily imo. A lot of Damon's worst choices come impulsively while Klaus so carefully, methodically plans to do evil, you know?! So I prefer Damon but I can see people preferring Klaus because he's more interesting in certain ways----he cares about art, travel, culture etc, while Damon doesn't really have any interests or hobbies other than...drinking?! (If he has other interests that I can't recall, please let me know :)) Plus, Klaus has such a sharp intellect and sophistication. There's also a real depth to Klaus. And that accent!!! :) Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts on both!

Hi! If you'd asked me this when I first watched the show, I would've said Klaus. He's charismatic, handsome, funny (sassy, sarcastic and hilariously petty), smart, eloquent, soft-spoken. He also has duality. He's evil, but not sadistically evil per se. He's insecure, distrustful, paranoid, childish, and that drives his actions. So, while he's evil, you kind of feel for him. Also, he can be vulnerable and soft, and it's very appealing when he is. You see that side the most in his relationships with Caroline, Rebekah, Stefan, and Mikael. Joseph Morgan did a great job playing Klaus. Part of the reason why is because he made Klaus so childish and openly vulnerable. He almost becomes a little boy when he confronts his father, or when Caroline hurts his pride. Instead of it just being pitiful, it's both compelling and pitiful because you know he's really just a child who never grew up - an emotionally stunted, evil child. But he's generally evil with a purpose, or you at least can understand where he's coming from. He's a bit like Damon in that regard, except no one expects Klaus to be nice so he's held to lower standards than Damon.

I used to love Klaroline a lot and that was one reason why I preferred Klaus to Damon. Now that I love Delena more and Klaroline a bit less, some of Klaus's appeal is gone, I guess. But I get the appeal of him being artistic and "sensitive", liking horses, and being knowledgeable and interesting. Klaus is hot and does the bad boy with a sensitive side better than Damon. Tbf, though, Damon doesn't have have a sensitive, artistic, romantic side (that's Stefan) as much as he has a vulnerable side.

In the end, though, I find Damon more relatable and realistic. I get why he self-sabotages (impulsively, like you said), why he's defensive and insecure. I think he's more admirable than Klaus, because he openly cares - he cares about more than his own survival. He's also more honest about himself and doesn't live in denial about who he is. He's loyal and brave, and probably showed more growth than Klaus. Perhaps Damon's more redeemable than Klaus, but it's not because he's more capable of caring for strangers or showing basic human decency - it's because he at least knows, or learns, how to care for a select few - better than Klaus, at any rate, but I know he grows quite a bit in TO, yet I don't remember the show... But, yeah, both of them are theoretically redeemable, but neither wants to put in the effort to truly become a decent person and be redeemed, so it's a moot point.

The Fool first encounters The Magician. he denotes Duality [of the Self, of Power] and the alchemy used to turn Thought into Action. The Fool is accompanied by a Dog. The Fool is Impulsive. The Magician is too.

I must say, it feels nostalgic...

I'm not sure why, maybe i have healed after so long, who knows, maybe i'm just a little twisted... although, i wouldn't mind the latter. I do wait patiently for the first time in my life i get to enact revenge and tear someone apart

I always thought of revenge on them after what happened, i always thought "you better thank your lord and saviour that i can't reach you without making a fool of myself, otherwise the law would know where to look around if they want to disappear too", i genuinely thought of such things and to tell you the truth i regret nothing... well, except for the irresponsibility, i acknowledge it and hold myself accountable for it and have improved, but it could've been better and less... well, you know~

But now i can't seem to take it seriously like i used to! What happened to the resentment?? The anger, the lust for blood?? The desire to feast on their flesh?? The desire to leave my message to whoever crosses my path??? Where is it??

I guess i may have healed! Haha! Yes the speech about how my hunger for revenge suddenly disappeared is exaggerated. I'm not one for that kind of drama, and i never will... anyway!

Now i occasionally have these random thoughts of putting people even remotely related to them hostage, and spouting things like "i'm putting your bag of Cheetos at gunpoint, now sing that song for me!", "Hey i shot your foot, you should act like it lol", "i shot your fuckin' Cheetos, apologize or the Sprite is next!" And so and so... very silly yet violent things, i even laughed at these one time. They sounded so silly, i couldn't take it seriously from how goofy i made it sound! Seriously, "i shot your fuckin' Cheetos!"??? Come on, that's goofy, admit it!

I guess i've healed, because i can't take it seriously anymore! How funky is that?! I made some dumb trauma funny for me and now i can't see it as anything else other than a joke! Hahaha!

Haha! Ha! Hahaha..! Haha... ha... heh... hm... and now i feel somber, no longer goofy and full of whimsy... now i feel like i'm mourning, mourning something that doesn't deserve to be mourned or missed...

What's with the bipolarity now?? I guess it's a heavy yet strange yet important part of my life and it's expressed in my duality, my sudden jumps from one side to the other side of the spectrum of emotions, it's one after another in this matter whenever the moment calls for it... it's a strange thing about me that i honestly find intriguing, i will not lie... i should look into this further and further~

It feels nostalgic, like a fond memory- no, genuinely, i remember it strangely fondly now! It's weird! Haha! It feels very nostalgic, like i'm remembering the first time i've had true fun in my school, true laughs, i've felt my kind of happiness in the place where everything clashes so hard, everything shatters and rebuilds, over and over and over again... see? First i'm silly and goofy, and then i'm somber and deep. I bet you my remaining impulse control that at some point in this post i will get angry then sad then crack a joke all over again!

I guess what i'm trying to say is... i may have healed, because now it feels like a fond memory that still gets me to giggle...

Like each of Kubrick’s films, The Shining finds resonance with all of the others, Michel Ciment has brillantly pointed out that The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut constitute a matched pair - doubles of each other, if you will - one a horrific vision of what happens when a man is cooped up with his famiy for too long, cut off from the outside world entirely, the other an equally bizarre nightmare about what happens when a man ventures too far outside the protective structure of the family. The Shining also finds a good deal of kinship with many other Kubrick’s films in its dual status as a complex work of art, both structurally and aesthetically, and a member of that most maligned of species: the genre film. At least a decade prior to filming The Shining, Stanley Kubrick had expressed an interest in horror and (as with his approach to science-fiction with 2001: A Space Odyssey) in making a superior work in that genre. John Baxter writes “As early as 1966, he’d told a friend he would’like to make the world’s scariest movie”. Diane Johnsn, co-scenarist on The Shining, told The New York Times that Kubrick saw “a certain amount of intellectual challenge in doing a horror film right.”. Apparently Warner Bros, was also keen to have hilm work in horror: according to Baxter the studio had offered Kubrick the chance to direct The Exorcist and later Th Exorcist II, both of which he declined.

In 1977, John Calley (the Warner production chief) sent Kubrick galley proofs of Stephen King's novel, The Shining, a project that was brought to the studio by an independent production company, the Producers Circle. Although Kubrick said he had "always been interested in ESP and the paranormal", it was King’s plot that attracted him most: "i thought it was one of the most ingenious and exciting stories of the genre i had read."

If you ask any of his co-workers they'll tell you nobody put him in charge of welcoming the newbie, but it seemed everybody but you noticed him do a double take at the receptionist's desk where you waited to be shown around. Soft moments included him making you a coffee every time he left to make his own, making a point of clearing a little space in the communal fridge for your lunch and hanging around while trying to maintain a respectful distance in case you had any queries so he could be the first to answer them. If you were low-key dreading your first day, you kinda forget about the nerves quickly because of his kindness and tells you cheerfully "See, we don't bite." Will make sure you have everything you need, down to the last sticky note and ball point pen, and smiles bashfully at you when you go to thank him.

❁ [Johnny] cheesy office romance; It was quite impressive really, the fact that Johnny managed to unlock every single office romance cliche you could think of and he wasn't subtle about it either. Though there was no policy really about dating co-workers, the whole situation was a tiny bit embarrassing given the blatant flirting from the titan walking around in his shirt and tie, always throwing devilish smiles from over the photocopier. You kind of became the height of office gossip, which Johnny thrived in, but you couldn't really be mad when you were dating that tall glass of water after all.

❁ [Taeyong] The receptionist with first aid training; Stapling your finger was embarrassing enough, imagine the heat flooding your cheeks when the receptionist appears at your desk clutching the first aid kit, big kind eyes glancing at your finger empathetically. Taeyong was the first face you saw when you walked through the door, that alone making a wonderful first impression, also he was a very diligent worker. On the blasted day you aimed the stapler at your paper but instead caught your finger, Taeyong was the first to perk from behind his desk at your exclamation of "Ow!" and was by your side before you knew it. He apologised profusely at the sting of an anti-bacterial wipe and wrapped your finger gingerly in a plaster, his chair scooted towards you and your knees bumping occasionally. You were pretty sure every female in the office was crushing on him and you were one of many, but you couldn't help the blush when you received a private IM chat asking if you wanted to get coffee after work: "Date? :)" he wrote at the end of the message. All it took was one painfully awkward conversation in the break room and with the power of pointless small talk you learnt that his weekend plans didn't involve a modelling side hustle like you expected, but rather being a homebody, watching animated movies and cooking dinner for one instead. When you did finally enter an established relationship with him, expect impulsive moments like being tugged into the copier room so he can press his lips to yours and run his hands through your hair, or intense staring contests when other male co-workers demanded your attention. Overall, he was terrifying, but his redeemable qualities involved making dates after work so you had something to look forward to, buying your favourite cake during office parties and volunteering to do overtime with you so you would always be entertained.

❁ [Doyoung] The manager that scares you shitless; For the position of local branch manager, Doyoung exuded way more power and intimidation than what was probably warranted. Maybe that was why he managed to get the branch performing so well, everybody dreaded being called into his office for "friendly chitchat" after making a small mistake. When you first arrived, you steered as clear from him as possible, only venturing near his office when absolutely needed. What you didn't see was the way he would watch you intently in your little office nook, always appreciating how hard you worked and how cute you looked in your office get-up. You often squirmed at the amount of eye-contact he gave you when he ran meetings and you would glance around to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. Nope, just you. When he did call you into his office that one time you were quaking in your shoes. You had already convinced yourself you were fired before you had even reached his office door, but the feeling was replaced soon enough with confusion when he did eventually speak to you. "I just wanted to ask... would you be interested in.... this corporate training program?" He rushed. My god, your boss was just as awkward as the next bumbling guy. It would be a while before he asked you on an official date, dinner for two, also quite a bit of paperwork to fill out with HR, but you would come to realise his icy exterior wasn't all that icy when he wasn't in work-mode.

❁ [Jaehyun] The temp that never left; Jaehyun was fresh from university, now venturing into the world of work but still had the boyish aura that set him apart from the rest of the men in the office. From the way he spoke to you over lunch in the break room you could tell he was full of ambition, but also didn't seem to be in any rush to leave this job any time soon. Jaehyun was the guy who you initially tried not to get too close to, since you were under the impression that he would be leaving after completing the temporary placement and when he left it would hurt like a bitch. However, you could have sworn his placement ended like a month ago, but eventually you learnt that he somehow managed to talk himself into a full-time position. "Oh that, yeah, I guess I just realised I had more reasons to stay." He shrugged as casually as he could when you asked about it. You couldn't deny that you were happy, not when you saw his smiling face in the conference room saving you a seat, hearing his outrageous stories from uni and always being the two to get a little too drunk at corporate parties and being sent home in a taxi of shame. Romance blossomed when you remembered that one drunken kiss in the backseat and you both bonded when your boss gave you the cold shoulder after arriving to work a little more than dishevelled and with a hangover.

❁ [Jungwoo] Desk buddy; Honestly, who could hate their job when they had a sweet Jungwoo sitting at the desk adjacent to theirs. You kinda scored when your boss appointed you this specific desk because Jungwoo took to you almost embarrassingly quick. It made your heart swell looking at all the little knick knacks on his desk; toys to fiddle with and colourful sticky notes, this was just one part of his persona. You were a little shocked when he offered you a cigarette during the lunch break, kind of exposing a duality you didn't know existed, but nobody could be that wholesome of a person. Monday to Friday 9-5 was filled with Jungwoo ping-ponging back and forth between these traits, any off handed comments he would mutter to you when the boss was giving an announcement or the conversations you would overhear him having with a friend over the phone would remind you he wasn't a total puppy of a human being. However, the way he always offered to share a snack and would flick paper and notes at you playfully was also very much him being himself. You always fluttered a little at the smirk he would throw your way when your manager was talking something boring or ridiculous, it seemed those smirks were only reserved for you. It didn't take long before he became your best friend in the office, if he wasn't in that day you were in the right mind to just call it quits yourself (and vice versa), he was the guy that made the long hours that much more bearable.

❁ [Mark] The bumbling intern; When it came to responsibilities in the work place, you tried to delegate as little of that as possible to Mark the intern. It was cute really, the guy put in 110% effort into his tasks and yet when it came to coffee orders, photocopying or sending out a memo, something nearly always went wrong. You couldn't help but admire his enthusiasm, also that he made an effort to know everybody in the office, including the cleaners. Mark was one of the first people to greet you when you joined, waving around a little notebook of Starbucks orders and a company card to splurge, urging you to write down whatever you wanted. A simple task right? Rookie mistake. Bless him, you would never tell him how his mistake of getting full dairy rather than the soy you requested led to a night on and off the toilet, but that just scratched the surface of his office blunders. Somehow, he never cost the company too much, but there was a reason why the poor boy never got promoted beyond intern. He wasn't deterred though, he'd lean up against your desk while you made idle chit chat and he'd tell you that he liked his job and he didn't aspire to be the best in this business. Where he really proved himself was during company functions, you'll never forget during the annual employee bbq when he asked you your favourite song so he could sing it melodically accompanied skilfully with a guitar. Mark's contributions to the work place were always a little unpredictable, but he kept things interesting and people, including you, genuinely enjoyed having him around.

❁ [Haechan] Probably the reason you get fired; Even in the workplace, Haechan can't deny himself a bit of mischief. He made a stellar first impression by rocking up half an hour late, sending your boss a half arsed apology and plonking down at the desk across the room from yours. To be honest, he kind of annoyed you at first, his attitude came off immature and you didn't appreciate how distracting he was when you had work to do. However, things started to change at some point. Haechan was the guy that convinced you to ditch the office party and sit on the rooftop with him to watch the city lights, the guy that sent out ridiculous memos just to catch you smile and the guy eventually became the reason for you own demise after he started picking you up for breakfast most mornings. When the manager called you in his office after being late the third time in a row, you ducked your head and mumbled something about traffic while hiding a croissant wrapper in your pocket, Haechan covered a laugh with a cough and apologised on behalf of both of you. When you asked him about why he never seemed to give a shit about anything, you learnt that it was because he had a taste for adventure; "Don't tell me you wanna stay and work here forever? Don't you wanna do something more... exciting with your life?" He asked you incredulously, like the answer was obvious. He kinda got you, no, you didn't want to work in a dingy office for the rest of you life. To be honest, when he painted a picture of moving to a big city, or taking a road trip, or just fucking off to the suburbs you didn't hate the sound of that either. When you were both sat there in your manager's office, signing off on a severance package, you weren't even mad. You didn't have time to be, Haechan was already clasping your hand and leading you to his car and laughing about finally being free, tugging his tie from around his neck whilst driving no where in particular- the start of an adventure.

I will say that if Skizz died to werewolf Ren instead of the arrow shot in canon, I do feel like it would be much more scary, not gonna lie... From what your said in your headcanons about werewolf Ren, if he just let the wolf side of him take the reigns, that death would probably be much more gruesome. Sounds like a horrible way to go, getting mauled by a werewolf ._.

Then afterwards, after hearing how Skizz died (and maybe even taking his body back to be buried and assessing the...uh, damage) the Reds are actually quite wary of Ren, especially the ones who are outside of Hermitcraft. Even the ones who are part of Hermitcraft are wary, because Ren has NEVER been violent to that extent. Ever. Let alone against another person.

If Ren were this big of a threat against the Reds, I feel like he would either have less of a target on his back, or an even larger one.

Oh certainly! I also imagine it would be quite a shock to the folks on Hermitcraft. Sure, Ren is a werewolf, but we know Ren and he wouldn't hurt a fly. Sure he gets annoyed and his hackles raise, and those teeth look kinda sharp when he bares them - but even those things happen rarely and after much distress. But suddenly Last Life happens, Skizz happens, and just how scary a werewolf can be comes into sharp relief. Oh that's right, Ren is a monster, the blood-hungry kind, and that is something he actively keeps in check! He might be a bit clumsy about it at times, but he's smart and strong and his teeth are sharp. He doesn't like killing, but he's far from incapable.

And Skizz is dead. Impulse was smart to run away so quickly.

Everyone steps a little more warily wondering what he'll be like when he's on red, when he's a werewolf full time with all the red life compulsions snarling through his brain along with the general bloodlust that comes with just being a werewolf in the first place. He'll be a force to be reckoned with.

I do feel like the duality of this though is ZombieCleo, who is almost constantly on the verge of being unhinged, always waiting for a reason to absolutely destroy someone, who was giggling maniacally and pulling girlboss stunts just as soon as she went red, would definitely spend the next hour while Ren is getting bandaged and healed up vicariously riding the high of Ren getting a werwolf kill.

"Wasn't that fun Ren?? Wasn't it great finally letting go of the cool facade and doing the monster thing for once?? You absolutely destroyed him Ren!! Oh man you were so scary! That must've been great!"

"Well it was, uh,,, pretty exciting I guess. I feel bad about poor Skizz though, I'll have to apologize whenever--"

"Apologize?? He attacked you! If he didn't want to end up on the wrong side of those teeth he should've run when we told him to!"

"Well,,, I guess... I did kinda chase him down though."

"And did you have fun doing it?"

Martyn, the one bandaging up Ren probably, "Cleo, is it a zombie thing or just a you thing that you always want to watch the world burn?"

Cleo, who has been ready to kill since day 1, who keeps daring reds to take a shot at her so she has an excuse to retaliate, "I have no idea what you're on about."

A summary of a Higurashi Gou interview

Hello! I made a long-ish summary of the recent interview Ryukishi07 gave about Higurashi Gou.

Spoilers for Higurashi Gou.  He touches upon the anime's themes, the creation of it, voice actors, the future of the series, connection to Umineko, etc.

- He came up with the idea while having tea with an anime industry person, saying "I wish I could make it an anime again" and they responded with "If it's a remake, why not transform it into a new work in the middle?"

“So I started coming up with new ideas for Higurashi.

- It wasn't what he originally envisioned. He wanted to respond to fans that said that they want to "erase their memory and read Higurashi for the first time again". Making it a different story would serve that purpose.

- When asked if he found it hard to write Higurashi again, he said they were "back in his heart immediately".

- When asked about why Satoko is the protagonist, he says it's because Satoko was much like a "damsel in distress" in Tatarigoroshi with Keiichi being the "prince", so he wanted Satoko to be a real protagonist now. He wanted to really dig deeper into Satoko's mind this time.

Interviewer: Satoko has grown into quite an unexpectedly impulsive child... R07: Ahaha, right. I've already shown the duality of Rena and Shion, so I wasn't sure if Satoko's shift would surprise anyone, but I'm happy it did.

- He said the director and animators understand him well, coming up with suggestions that he already had in mind and only had to correct a bit. He felt as if he'd bought 200 kg of tuna (expensive lol) and handed it over to the animators, and they did a great job with it (as a chef would).

Interviewer: Akio Watanabe's character designs sure are nice, they feel fresh yet nostalgic. R07: Yes, I wanted someone who could make Satoko look as good as possible. (especially fangs)

- The voice cast is the same to create a sense of familiarity. He did not inform them about the plot beforehand, and Hanyuu's seiyuu Horie Yui was shocked that she appeared in episode 2, saying "isn't it too early for me to appear?"

- He did not tell Yukari Tamura (Rika's seiyuu) about her role, but he did consult Mika Kanai (Satoko) and told her "it'll be quite tough to act Satoko this time".

Interviewer: All episodes are broadcast on TV, and people are making a lot of theories. How do you feel about it? R07: I think it's the ideal way to experience Higurashi. Back in 2006, it wasn't quite so easy to access social networking services.  I think it's great we live in a time where exchanging opinions casually is easy.

Interviewer: There are certainly many people watching it, from core fans to first-timers. R07: That makes me very happy. Higurashi was always meant to be less of a traditional mystery all about the murderers and the tricks they used, and more about the investigation and process itself. However, when it first aired, it really was seen as a game of guessing. I appreciate discussing our opinions and communicating over seeking what is the right or wrong answer.

R07: "I think social media has changed the way we enjoy content, and while it makes me happy there are people who are seriously thinking about (the logistics), I'm happy there are many ways to enjoy it.

- He says there are people who already have it all figured out, but whether or not your theory is right or wrong, the most important thing is to have fun while thinking about it. Wrong or not, it is a wonderful thing.

- He loves the old Higurashi anime and appreciates what Studio DEEN did, and does not want people to compare them and say "I liked this better" nor to make them uncomfortable.

- On the connection of Higurashi and Umineko: "I think people easily misunderstand it. Higurashi is a work that is complete within itself, you don't need Umineko to enjoy it. It's just that when you add Umineko to it, it may give you a new interesting perspective to think about.

- They compare it to Osamu Tezuka's "Phoenix". They are independent stories, but the same characters appear in the stories. In his head, they are a connected integrated world, but that's just how he views it. So, Umineko is not necessary, but of course, he would like you to read all of his works.

- He discusses how things go differently between the characters in the arcs, a tragedy occurs nonetheless, ie. Keiichi handing the doll over to Mion but things going awry regardlses. It's all original from Nekodamashi-hen on. He likens the end of the anime to how Matsuribayashi explains how Takano came to be the way she is, but this time, it explains Satoko's perspective. He says Satoko is certainly a hindrance to the future Rika wants, but he wants you to try and understand her emotions.

- The themes of the previous games were communication and relying on your friends, but this time, he does not want to reveal the themes out loud.

- He says the series is not over, and that he would love to expand on it if he ever came up with more Higurashi related ideas.

- One idea for a new story is Keiichi's children.
