Last Kiss

Jack Hughes x Fem Reader

Warnings: Cursing, underrage drinking, if I missed any lmk :)

Note: Welcome to my first installment of works based on my favorite Taylor Swift songs, starting out with my all time favorite Last Kiss. I’m gonna be uploading these stories randomly, whenever I have the inspo or I have nothing else to write. Hope you enjoy, love ya!!

“I still remember the look on your face, lit through the darkness 1:58. The words that you whispered, for just us to know. You told me you loved me, so why did you go away?”

The night before the 2019 NHL draft was a tense one. Jack was nervous, I was nervous, everyone was nervous. The air was thick, Jack’s tossing and turning was costing me my sleep.

“Jack, honey, I can’t sleep if you keep moving around like that.” I whispered to him.

“I’m sorry.” He stated plainly.

“Do you want to talk about it?” I didn’t mean to pry, but Jack and I had been dating for over two years, I knew when something was bothering him.

“I’m so scared Y/n. What if I’m a bust, what if I’m not what they want, not what they expect? What if I disappoint my team, my friends, my family, you?” Jack whispered out, finally turning to face me.

“Jack, first of all nothing you could do could ever disappoint me. Any team would be lucky to have you, you’re an amazing hockey player, these nerves are normal and completely valid. You just have to stay true to yourself and your game, don’t change that in hopes to please others.”

“I love you.” Jack’s words took me by surprise, yes we had been dating for over two years but we had never said those words to each other. “You don’t have to say it back, it’s enough for me if you at least know how I feel.” He told me after noticing the visible shock on my face.

“I love you too Jack.” I did, I really did, I had known since our seventh month anniversary. We weren’t the type of couple to celebrate our anniversary every month, just every six months, but seven is my lucky number, the number on my lacrosse jersey, my angel numbers, the number meant a lot to me, and Jack wanted to show that he acknowledges that and that was the night you knew you were in love with Jack Hughes. We always joked that we would celebrate our eighty-sixth month anniversary as well.

“That’s great because I probably would’ve cried if you didn’t say it back” Jack laughed out, grabbing me to hold me closer to him, we finally fell asleep that night and woke up in the same position.

“I do recall now, the smell of the rain. Fresh off the pavement, I ran off the plane. That July 9th, the beat of your heart. It jumps through your shirt, I can still feel your arms.”

The first month of my summer break was spent visiting my family that lived in Florida as well as a trip to Mexico, but once July came around I was on a flight back to Michigan where I would spend the rest of my summer with my boyfriend, as well as his family and friends, at their lake house.

Stepping off the plane I could smell the rain and feel the humidity in the air, I could also hear the sound of your boyfriend’s laugh. It wasn’t until I saw him did I understand what was making him laugh so loudly. The sight of Jack, Trevor, and Cole holding up a “Welcome back from prison” made me laugh as well.

“Hello boys, thanks for coming to pick me up” I said before going up to Jack, “Hi”

“Hi” He responded before wrapping me in his arms and giving me a kiss.

“Gross” and “Get a room” were said behind me which made me turn around.

“You know what you learn in prison? Bad things.” I joked, referencing their signs, “Now come on I need to get my bags.” I said, grabbing Jack’s hand and leading the way towards baggage claim.

“But now I’ll go, sit on the floor wearing your clothes. All that I know is I don’t know, how to be something you miss”

I don’t really know when Jack started to become distant, but I can guarantee it started while I was staying at the lake house. At first I thought nothing of it, this was his last real summer of freedom soon him and his friends would either be going away to college or entering the NHL, he wanted to spend as much time with them as possible, I understood that, but he didn’t seem to want to spend as much time with me. He would deny date nights, or on the rare chance he agreed Jack would invite Trevor or Quinn, he started to move away from me in his sleep, one night he didn’t even make the attempt to cuddle with me and instead slept with his back towards me, he continued to do that until I left.

Jack still made some attempt at being present in our relationship until the last week I was with him and everybody else for the summer.

“So honey, have you decided what college you’re going to? You never told me.” Ellen asked one night while we were all sitting around the fire making smores and enjoying our last couple moments together.

“I’m going to the University of Denver, I got recruited to play lacrosse there. I’m super excited. I’m actually going straight to Colorado once I leave the lakehouse.” I told Ellen, and everyone else excitedly. I hadn’t told many people about my decision to go to Denver because up until three weeks ago I was supposed to stay in Michigan, but Denver offered me a better scholarship and I couldn’t turn it down. Jack was aware, he was the first I had told, but he wasn’t a fan of the idea of me going.

“Wow Denver is a long way away from Newark, how is that going to work for you two?” Jim asked the question this time. I looked at Jack hoping he would answer but he wouldn’t even look at me. Noticing the awkward tension Quinn quickly changed the topic to something about Vancouver and I looked at him and smiled as a thank you.

“I never thought we’d have a last kiss. I never imagined we’d end like this. Your name, forever the name on my lips.”

I already knew tonight was going to be a rough one, I knew me and Jack were going to fight so I stalled going inside. I opted out of going inside at the same time as everyone else once the fire had burned out, a taunting metaphor of mine and Jack’s relationship. I stayed on the dock looking up at the moon and stars for what felt like hours. I don’t know when tears began spilling out of my eyes, but I do know when they stopped.

“What are you still doing out here, come to bed.” It was Jack who had interrupted my very pathetic stargazing.

“Jack, we need to talk.” That was the only answer I could give to his request of me coming inside.

“No we don’t.” He deadpanned.

“Jack-”

“Just come to bed, we can talk about this in the morning.”

I nodded in defeat, going up to meet him at the top of the dock. I gave him a kiss as we walked into the bedroom, I was surprised that it was reciprocated but I didn’t let myself dwell on the feeling it left me.

“I do remember, the swing in your step. The life of the party, you’re showing off again. And I roll my eyes and then you pull me in. I’m not much for dancing, but for you I did.”

It was one of the first nights I was at the lake house, Jack and I went out for dinner and later joined the rest of the boys at a local club.

All night Jack was trying his hardest to get me to join him on the dance floor, I cannot dance for the life of me so I always stay away from lit up platforms covered in people. After what felt like three hours, more accurately thirty minutes, of sitting in a booth nursing a drink I finally caved in to Jack’s pleas. He did that stupid lasso move where he pretends to pull me in, making myself and those who we were with laugh. Jack simply kept his arms around me, we weren’t actually dancing, it was more of a sway of my hips and his shoulders.

“Jack I can’t dance, I’m making a fool out of myself.” With Jack’s sudden rise in popularity I was always worried about those around us and if they were recording or taking images of my boyfriend, I didn’t want anything to happen to his reputation, which is why I was so nervous that both of us were underage, in a club, very much drunk, and dancing inappropriately.

“I know you can’t dance but I can’t either so who cares.” Jack always had a way to calm my nerves, even without him realizing it or truly trying to do it.

“You’re lucky I love you Hughes.”

“I love you too Y/n.”

“Because I love your handshake, meeting my father. I love how you walk with your hands in your pockets. How you kissed me when I was in the middle of saying something, there is not a day I don’t miss those rude interruptions.”

Jack had hundreds of habits, I loved them all but the one I loved the most was when he would just kiss me, no matter where we were, no matter what we were doing, no matter who was speaking.

“Well I was telling her that I wasn’t able to work this summer because I was going to be busy the whole time-” Jack cut me off with a kiss, mumbling how cute I was when I rambled, “-seriously, you’ve gotta stop doing that it makes me lose my train of thought.” I tried to seem agitated but Jack could see right through me.

“You told her you weren’t able to work this summer because you were busy…” Jack began your story for you again.

Sometimes Jack would even cut himself off to kiss me.

“It was a bullshit penalty, and who the fuck gives-” He grabbed my chin and gently brought it forward to connect our lips before going back to his story. “-a penalty while you’re scrimaging. That’s so annoying.”

All I wanted was for Jack to interrupt our fight by kissing me, but that wasn’t going to happen because he didn’t love me anymore. He always answered my questions about that particular habit with “I do it because I love you.” Jack hadn’t kissed you mid sentence in over a month now.

“And I’ll go sit on the floor wearing your clothes. All that I know is I don’t know how to be something you miss. I never thought we’d have a last kiss, I never imagined we’d end like this. Your name, forever the name on my lips.”

It was over, Jack had broken up with me the morning after I announced to everyone that I was moving to Denver and not staying in Michigan for college. I didn’t fight it, but I did give him a piece of my mind. I asked him why. I wanted a clear reason, not just “long distance” because if I stayed in Michigan he would still be in New Jersey, and he couldn’t give me one. So I packed everything I had brought up and left the lake house five days early. I texted my mom that I was coming home to spend my last few nights at home, which she obviously was happy about, but she was still confused.

I found myself sitting on the floor of my family’s living room sobbing, explaining to my mom and dad what had happened. The weird and sudden changes to our relationship dynamic, how Jack became distant halfway through my stay, and everything else that led up to our break up.

“I never liked that asshole, I knew he was bad for you.” My dad said, comforting me in the best way he could but I knew that wasn’t the truth.

“Dad you loved him, you talked about him and his firm handshake for weeks after you met” I said back, smiling at the memory of Jack meeting my parents. We were both so nervous, Jack put deodorant on his hands to try and stop sweating so much.

“Sweetie, why don’t you take off his sweatshirt, maybe shower as well? I’m gonna make some snacks for us all.” I hadn’t even realized I was wearing one of Jack’s hoodies, I made sure I didn’t pack anything that once belonged to him, I guess I missed the items that were on my body because it wasn’t just the sweatshirt, I was also wearing his boxers as shorts and stupidly enough a pair of his socks because I forgot to pack all of my fuzzy ones.

“Mom, what am I supposed to do now?” I asked before she could leave the room.

“Make him regret it.” She said, giving me a wink before entering the kitchen.

“So I’ll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep, and I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe, and I keep up with our old friends just to ask them how you are. Hope it’s nice where you are.”

It was nearly one year after the breakup and I was doing great. I started college, made friends, absolutely crushed my lacrosse season setting my own personal record in goals, and I was feeling the best I had in a long time.

I was still not completely over Jack. If he were to fly to Denver and beg me to get back together with him I would say no, but I still find myself stalking his instagram weekly and I keep update notifications on for all Devil’s games. I even ask Trevor how he is doing all the time, if he was being hard on himself after a tough loss or how hard he celebrated after a win. I still cared about him, I still loved him, but that window in my life was now closed. I decided that this summer I would fully cut Jack Hughes out of my life, no more looking on his instagram to see if he had taken down the posts of us together yet, he had taken down a few, according to Trevor he was involved with a girl for a little bit so he took any self incriminating posts down for the time being. If Trevor had told me that five months ago I would’ve been a wreck, but not anymore, I truly want what’s best for Jack.

“And I hope the sun shines, and it’s a beautiful day, and something reminds you, you wish you had stayed. You can plan for a change in weather and time, but I never planned on you changing your mind.”

While I did want what’s best for Jack, I am still petty. I often find myself hoping that he is having a great time with his new girlfriend or just in general and he hears or sees or even smells something that reminds him of me, and reminds him of what he did.

“So I’ll go, sit on the floor wearing your clothes. All that I know is I don’t know how to be something you miss. I never thought we’d have a last kiss, I never thought we’d ever end like this. Your name, forever the name on my lips. Just like our last kiss, forever the name on my lips.”

Jack regretted it, he regretted everything. He missed me so goddamn much, not to my knowledge. Trevor wouldn’t tell me how horrible he was really doing. He would tell me about the numerous times that Jack would get back from a game and go cuddle up in a sweatshirt that I forgot to pack and that he forgot to send back to me, or in the blanket I always used at night, anything that still smells even a little bit like me. Trevor wouldn’t tell me about all the times that Jack confined in him about how he shouldn’t have ever broken up with me, how he shouldn’t have broken my heart like that. Trevor would never tell me those things because I don’t want to hear them. I was happy now, I was over it, my once broken heart was now mended back together and getting stronger by the minute. Jack was the one who made it our Last Kiss, he made his bed and now he must lie in it.

“Forever the name on my lips, just like our last.”

Note: I don’t know how I feel about this one. I wrote it in a two hour sitting and I will not be proofreading cause I'd probably just start hating it and then never posting it. I tried a different POV in this story, but I don't know how I feel. Also I kinda switched up the end where it wasn’t flashbacks anymore but it was like the thoughts in the reader's head present day (well present day in the story which is summer 2020 lol) idk how I feel about this, criticism is always welcome also, I need someone to tell me if my work sucks hehe. THEMA; an ORV zine - One year later

Hello everyone. This is Rook, lead mod for THEMA; an ORV zine, as well as a co-mod for our new zine Anchors Aweigh! a Lee Jihye zine. Today (September 30th) is the one year anniversary of THEMA;'s upload date, and I'd like to celebrate it in at least a small way. None of our moderators or contributors know I'm writing this, so let's get schmaltzy.

THEMA;, as some may know, was born as an act of pure love after I finished reading ORV at the end of 2021. For many years and through many different fandoms I had been threatening to run my own fanzine, but never found the right amount of drive necessary to bring a large public project like that to completion. As a lot people may be able to relate to, ORV completely broke me (LOL). I've done so many things I either haven't done in years or have never done before because of ORV; from fic writing, to designing and manufacturing merchandise, to publishing a frankly absurd amount of solo minizines, and more. I'm incredibly grateful that THEMA; got to be one of the first things on my continually growing list of experiences all thanks to a webnovel I read randomly one day. This too is ORV.

I'm not sure if one can truly claim to be the #1 fan of something, but I believe I can claim the title of #1 enthusiast for THEMA; at the very least. To this day I find myself full of overwhelming affection for our humble little PDF. Of course, you can never truly read something for the first time more than once; but every re-read I've done of THEMA; in whole or in part draws up the same well of emotions as it did over a year ago, when the first round of check-ins were submitted by our contributors. I feel only love when thinking of this project (and am comfortable enough to admit that it has made me tear up on multiple occasions, including today).

I thanked everyone last year, and I'll thank them all again a year later, and the next year, and the year after that:

“You seriously don’t know what day it is?” You looked into his eyes to see if he was lying or not.

“It’s Tuesday.”

You rolled your eyes, groaned, and stomped away from your boyfriend of three months, Tyler.

Tyler was, for lack of better words, stoic. Sometimes too stoic for your liking. To the world, he appeared cold and careless. However, within the three months (and even before) of your relationship, Tyler always showed affection and his softer side to you, whether people were around or not. He was able to remember little, almost unrecognizable, habits and details about you. Like how you chew with the right side of your mouth, when you get nervous that you tap your fingers against your neck, or how your favorite color is a particular shade and not the whole range of the color. He knew so much about you, yet, he couldn’t remember today’s date.

It was Valentine’s Day.

Not only was it Valentine’s Day….

It was your 3 month anniversary…And this dude forgot it.

To some, 3 months is not a major thing, but to you, every anniversary/celebration is important. Just like for other girls and or couples, today was special for you, or at least it was supposed to be. You just don’t know it wasn’t special enough to Tyler, who literally (not literally) kept hinting for you to go out with him 3 months ago.

Was it you? Maybe you didn’t push the occasion to him enough. Then again, he doesn’t like people repeating themselves or people pushing concepts on him. Maybe he wasn’t a Valentine’s Day kind of guy. Or maybe he has bad memories of Valentine’s Day. Whatever the reason, it didn’t excuse him from missing an important occasion.

Bitterly chuckling, you kept walking to your hotel room and kept trying to tell yourself that he probably has something planned. Opening the door, you saw the presents you got for your forgetful boyfriend sitting on your bed. That sight broke you, here you got him the things that he had his eyes on and you got nothing.

You quickly sat the presents on the table before flopping on your bed face first. Now you were completely over today. You were conflicted about the reason and it just dampen your mood. In the middle of your sulking, you didn’t notice the door opening for your roommate to walk in.

“Girl, I leave you for like 15 minutes and you’re already in distress.” Willow jokingly said. You, with slightly red eyes, look up to find Willow and Ruby. “Honey, what’s wrong?” Willow said, rubbing your back.

“Tyler forgot about today.” You quietly replied

“Honestly, maybe he just thinks you already know how much he loves you and thought he didn’t have to do anything,” Willow said shrugging

“It’s our three-month anniversary.”

“Oh, he’s a dumbass.” Ruby sat on the floor as Willow kicked her shin. “Ow, what? It’s probably true. Man eats chips on a daily.”

Willow rolled her eyes before saying, “I’m sure that he didn’t mean to forget. He probably has a lot on his plate with the title and going against The firm.”

You wiped your eyes, before slightly nodding. It was like you were trying to convince yourself more than the two women in your room. “You’re right. Hopefully, he has something planned for us, like a surprise or something. But let’s change the subject,” you started, “What are you guys doing today?”

Ruby, not looking up from her phone, scoffed, “Willow’s been trying to show me the so-called magic of Valentine’s Day. It’s not working.”

“She just hates seeing people happy.” 

“No, I hate seeing corny couples happy. Y/N and Hook are not corny, so I wish them well.”

You couldn’t help but chuckle at your friends’ complex and clashing viewpoint: Ruby hates the aesthetic of Valentine’s Day but wants to see you happy (and knows the basic components of relationships). Willow on the other wants to see everyone happy. You were happy to have friends like them, to give you multiple perspectives and pieces of advice. “Okay, well since you’re not doing anything, do you wanna have a Galentine’s Day? We can go to Build-A-Bear or something.”

As you were gonna answer, Ruby cut you off, “No! I hate kids!”

Willow shouted back, “You hate everyone!”

“Not you guys!”

Before you could break up the soon-to-be argument, there was a knock at the door. Ruby got up and opened the door to see Darius and Dante Martin standing there, who happens to be two of Tyler’s best friends.

“Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!” Dante said entering the room with his brother.

Darius’ eyes widened at the sight of you, “Why are you still here? Shouldn’t you be out already?”

Ruby rolled her eyes before saying, “No, your best friend doesn’t remember what today is.”

“Yeah, go ask your little friend,” Willow said while rubbing your back.

“No, Hook told us tha-“ Darius started before Dante covered his mouth. You raised an eyebrow as the brothers went to a corner and whispered to each other. It was never like Dante to cut his brother off. And it was never like them to keep a secret from you (especially when it concerns Tyler). Your eyes shifted between them as they started making their way toward the door. “Sorry! We’ll be sure to talk to him! Okay, you guys bye!” Darius quickly said as Dante pushed him out of the door.

Frustrated, you fell back on the bed and asked Willow and Ruby to leave you out of today’s plans. You just wanted to be alone with your thoughts. As Ruby dragged your roommate out, the only thing you could think about was Tyler: how you wished he was here, wishing that he remembered, and what you guys would do if he remembered. This entire time, you were trying to keep your hopes (hoping that he’ll pull through, especially when Dante and Darius showed up) but at this moment, you started to accept that today was going to be a regular day.

As you felt yourself drifting off to sleep, there was a knock at the door. Groaning, you opened the door but found no one at the door. But instead, two bags with a note attached. You picked them up before reading the note.

Sweetheart,

Of course, I wouldn’t forget about tonight. Put these on and get ready for a night you can’t forget.

Tyler

Your mood went from sad to happy in a matter of seconds. You squealed and immediately shut the door, dashing to the bathroom. In one bag was a beautiful black dress that you had your eye on for the past few weeks. In the other bag was a pair of shoes that were sold out for as long as you had them in your cart. Your smile grew larger, as you began to put on the dress. It was a perfect fit, hugging your body beautifully. Hook really knew you. You did your makeup (that complimented your eyes and skin tone) before quickly styling your hair.

As you were finishing up the final details of your look, there was a knock at the door. You ran to the door and opened it to reveal your boyfriend in a black tuxedo in all-white sneakers, holding two bouquets of roses (one in red and the other in your favorite color). Whether wearing a suit or not, Tyler would always refuse to wear dress shoes. You smiled up at him (even with heels, you were still shorter than him), “I actually thought you forgot.”

“I’m offended at the amount of faith you have in me,” Tyler said with a fake pout. He presented the flowers to you, pushing them in your hands. “I would never forget something so important, sweetheart.” He kissed you on the cheek before stepping inside the hotel room. You closed the door and put the flowers down as Tyler continued, “Look, I’m sorry that I made you upset. Dante and Darius came to me and told me how sad you were. I just needed more time to ensure everything was perfect tonight.”

Your eyes sparkled at the confession, “For me?”

Tyler smirked before stepping closer and giving you a sweet kiss, “You deserve it. Only the best.” He gave you another kiss. “Happy Valentine’s Day. Happy 3-month anniversary.”

“Is this the start of your apology?” You asked, raising an eyebrow with a small smirk

“I was hoping the dress and shoes were.”

You backed up and did a twirl, showing off your outfit. “I think so, you’re doing an okay job so far. I look amazing.”

Tyler nodded, “You look gorgeous, babe. But I think you would look better beneath me.” He grabbed your hips and pulled you closer, grazing your lips. “Don’t you?” He whispered.

“I agree with you, baby.” You hummed, wrapping your arms around his neck. “But I think, you should be on your knees and giving me that apology right now. Don’t you?” You sat down on the edge of the bed, looking up at him with a hint of lust and mischief in your eyes.

Slightly chuckling, Tyler leaned down to give you a long yet passion-filled kiss. He then descended onto the floor in front of you, on his knees. He lifted your right leg and kissed your ankle, “I couldn’t agree more, sweetheart.”

Let’s just say, you two didn’t make it to the reservations that Tyler made that night.

The Heart of a Hero is returning once more!

Today marks the 5-year anniversary of the premiere of HoaH, and is fairly close to the 3.5 year anniversary of its last official upload. Well, the wait is over. It’s time for me to resurrect this series and eventually bring it to its end (not that it left off anywhere close to ending 😉).

Since it’s been a while, I’ve put together a recap of the story so far that I’ll post at some point here. It’s not complete, I had to cut out some of the newer chapters since it just became a play-by-play synopsis that doubled the total word count, but hey, having to reread 5-10 chapters is better than rereading 150.

The tentative return date will be this time next month as I work on creating a backlog of chapters. If I need to push it back, I’ll let you know. As for other questions I’m sure some of you have, check below the cut. For those who don’t care, see you in a month, hopefully.

So, some questions I’m sure some of you are asking:

1: where have you been? And why did you stop?

I’m not gonna go into details since I’m not that kinda person, but overall, just been living life, dude. I originally began my unexpected hiatus when college was kicking my ass and expected to get right back to things, but some stuff happened, and by the time I had dealt with it, it was Spring of 2020. You can guess what stopped me up then lol. But yeah, things just got away from me and eventually, I didn’t have the time or energy to dedicate to diving headfirst back into this outside of unconnected one-off stuff like those Bang fics. There’s other facets too, of course, the biggest one being a general disinterest in the source material. I stopped reading MHA around the villains arc (though I’ve kept up a bit in terms of big stuff like the traitor reveal), so I lacked that interest to pull me back into this world. Where I left off in the story, in the middle of a complicated arc full of OCs and big fights and stuff, was also a hurdle to getting back into things. But I’m here now, I’m working on my backlog, and I’m gonna commit. If you guys are excited about my return, spread the word and lemme hear it so I can keep this motivation 🤟

2: Is A New Era coming back too?

And now for the other shoe to drop. It is not. Im very sorry, especially to those whose OCs I included, but it’s just not feasible. Every time I considered it or tried it, the whole return to the main story was stopped up with it. Anyone who’s interested in continuing it themselves in some way shape or form, you have my permission in terms of the general idea, the OC kids I came up with, the places that canon characters are in it, etc. As for other people’s OCs, I’d check with their creators. One again, very sorry, but it’s just not doable.

3: What will this return look like? How often are chapters gonna drop?

Still working out the specifics, but my idea for now is to drop 2 chapters a week. If I need to go on hiatus, I’ll announce as much and plan the placement of it much better so that I don’t stop in the middle of an arc. That way, the hiatus will only be a month instead of years lol. The schedule may change over time, but I’ll keep everyone informed as I move ahead with it

4: a lot has happened in the manga and anime and movies since you stopped. Will these things be worked into the series?

Nope. I stopped reading and probably won’t start again until it’s over and done with. More than that, I’ve been sitting on these plans for a couple years now and don’t feel like changing them much. Besides, this story has had a long, rich history of shitting in the soup of the canon story, so I’ll just continue doing my own thing

Hello Yes I Am Not Dead

Just busy. Very very very busy. So busy I'll have to make this quick (well... quick by my standards at least lol), but I wanted to apologize and just post something to avoid leaving anyone in the dark:

I haven't had any time to write, literally at all :( That plus how big (both in terms of impact and amount of work) the next chapter for How To Be [Overtaken] By A Woman is going to be means that's on hiatus for a while. Hopefully I can work on it (and Constellations are Relative!!!! Every day I feel awful about not having the next chapter ready for that!!!! It's such a fun story with so many cute moments I want to share it aaaaaaaa) before the end of the year, but no promises.

Similarly my release date for my voice line project is in limbo. I need to retest everything as well as remake the doc itself, so I won't even bother trying to say a release date for it lmao. But I'd like it to be on some anniversary of 1, whichever one lines up best with the project being done. It must be perfect.

Additional XC project I want to do: another fan resource that has all the descriptions and location info for all of the collectibles in one excel doc!

I'd like to get back to cataloging the Shulkelia fanart I have again at some point too!

Lastly an update on my FFXIV crossover: I have most of the info all organized and ready to go since I hammered it out months back, I mainly just need to get nice pics of everyone and then upload everything both here and on Eorzea Collection then it'll be done! For reference, here's why this took me so long to complete: for every single character listed below (spoiler warning for XC in the image btw!!!) I have two separate glam lists for them, based on me searching and re-searching through literally every armor option in the game and testing all the closest ones in various combinations until I was satisfied I couldn't get any more accurate to the character. And also I'm doing a write-up for each one about their job/class being fitting for them.

While there she attends the A Small World relaunch. ASW could be viewed as a bit “sketchy” if you will. I think this is where she befriends Olivia Wilde.

This is Dianna’s first (known) trip to Morocco (Derek Blasberg is there too) but she seems to be drawn there over and over again after this, even marrying Winston Marshall there (and possibly meeting another boyfriend, Gus Wenner there.)

October 2013 - Taylor writes I Wish You Would, a song inspired by an ex who had recently bought a house near her driving past her house. It’s thought to be about Harry but Harry didn’t buy a house in LA until March 2014. But of course we know Dianna did buy a house near Taylor’s in LA earlier this fall.

November 11, 2013 - The music video for “She’s Just Another Girl” premiers starring Dianna looking stunning in high fashion drag, dressed up as the lead singer, and lip syncing the words to the song:

Hello everyone. I need to have a serious talk for a moment. You know those dresses I used for the Anniversary models of Shanna and Rose? Those clothes are by a DA user by the name of Ranshka. You can ONLY get those clothes by contacting them privately through twitter. Guess what? Someone is taking models with Ranshka’s clothes on them, ripping them off, putting them for download! This is so disrespectful and violates their rules! Even more so, Ranshka makes their parts FROM SCRATCH, this makes it even more of a scummy thing to do!

Not just that, he even ripped the clothes off Shanna and Rose and put them for download. How do I know? BECAUSE HE ISN’T EVEN SUBTLE ABOUT IT! The green outfit had completely different sleeves than the ones that Shanna is wearing in that outfit. Similar, but different. In the stolen upload, it has the sleeves Shanna was wearing but recolored to white. Not just that, it uses the exact same toons I used on my model of Shanna and Rose. Ranshka originally had different toons on those outfits! Lastly but not least, I named the models “Anniversary Twins”. Know what he named the outfits? ANNIVERSARY DRESSES! The actual name of those outfits by Ranshka is Light Spring and World Watcher. He’a not even being subtle!

It was a quarter till one, (Y/N) sat on their king sized bed. The room was dimly lit, the only source of light was the full moon shinning over peaceful London. Tessa was asleep on her lap, she had grown tired of waiting near the door awaiting for Tom to come home.

“Please leave a mes-”

This felt the the hundredth time she had called Tom. None of the boys knew where he was which is oddly surprising because if he wasn’t hanging out with (Y/N), he was out with the boys.

Her mind tried not to wonder, wonder to the thought of Tom doing the unthinkable. She trusted him, hell she moved in with him around the time of their nine month anniversary. She knew in her heart that Tom wouldn’t do such thing.

The two have been dating for little over a year now, sure they’ve had their ups and downs but that only made their relationship stronger. Someone once said, “You can’t have a relationship without any fights, but you can make your relationship worth fighting for.”

Tessa’s ears perked up at the sound of the front door unlocking, she quickly moved away from (Y/N) lap and darted to the door. Even though she follow Tessa, she knew Tessa was wagging her tail happily at the sight of Tom. Glancing down at her phone, it was a few minutes past one.

“Hey Tes.” Tom mumbled bending down slightly to pick up his furbaby. Dragging himself to their shared bedroom, he noticed his girlfriend was still up sitting upright against the headboard. He placed Tessa back down, watching as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier jumped onto the bed.

“(Y-”

“Where were you Tom?”

(Y/N) eyes were focused on lap, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her Tom’s shirt. She didn’t want to yell, it was already so late for that. But he hasn’t been answering any of her calls or text. If you think about it, she had every right to feel worried, angry, and hurt. It only takes a second to send a simple text. It only takes a second to answer the phone.

“I just went out to get a couple drinks.” Tom shrugged, there was a hint of annoyance in his voice. He may not realize it, but she does. She could tell when someone’s mood shifts, or their change in tone.

“You could’ve told me.” her voice was small barley a whisper, loud enough for only Tom to hear. She didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, but she wanted to know why Tom didn’t give her a heads up.

Whenever they use to fight, usually it was over little things. Like, forgetting something, or if one of you got jealous, leaving the toilet seat up, cleaning after themselves.

Little things.

“I was only out for what? Five hours? Most of those five hours, I was studying for midterms with some people from chem. Then we went out for a few drinks.” It was safe to say, Tom didn’t really see the problem. He didn’t see why he couldn’t go out for a few drinks with some friends.

“Tom, it’s the fact that you didn’t answer my calls and text! I was worried!” Tom was taken aback when (Y/N) got up from the bed, her voice raising as she stood. Her and Tom may be three inches apart meaning he’d still tower over her a bit, but that never intimidated her.

Running his hands over his face, he closed his eyes for a second “Do you not trust me? (Y/N), I’m not the same person I was two years ago!” Before the two got to talking, Tom had quite the body count. Almost every girl on campus wanted to shag him.

(Y/N) scoffed lightly running her hand through her hair in frustration, “I do trust you Tom! That was the last thing on my mind, I know you would never cheat on me! I was worried! Don’t you see the difference?” God it turned into a scream fest within seconds. Pretty sure someone is going to file a nose complaint against them tomorrow.

Tom pinched the bridge of his nose closing his eyes for a brief moment before say, “Maybe I wanted to spend some time away from you! Maybe we don’t need to spend every waking moment together!” (Y/N) stood there with wide eyes, processing what her boyfriend had just told her.

This is the first time, Tom had yelled at her and told her that. Maybe we don’t need to spend every waking moment together. Ouch. I guess that’s why couples wait to move in together when they’re married or for sure going to get married. Or when they’re ready in general.

“Wow, okay.” (Y/N) moved to grab her pillows from her side of the bed, quickly moving into their shared walk in closet to grab an extra blanket. He wanted alone time, okay I’ll give it to him.

“Wait-” Tom began but (Y/N) stopped him, “You want alone time. I get it. You get the bedroom, I’ll sleep on the couch. Good night Thomas.” her heart clenched at every word that left her mouth. She just wanted to cry to get everything out, Tessa trailed after her but (Y/N) ushered the pup back into the bedroom.

Tom sat at the edge of their bed, “Fucking hell.” his head was buried in his hands. He fucked up and he knows he did, (Y/N) was truly a blessing in disguise without her he’d be failing his classes and not on the right track. She’s there to put him in his place when he’s out of line. He had gotten ready for bed in silence, thinking over what had happened. God he felt like a complete idiot, (Y/N) saw the good in him, the potential that everyone failed to see.

Gathering the his pillows and Tessa he padded into the living room. Even though he had basically said he needed time away from her, he wanted to be by her side at the end of the day.

Peeking over he noticed she was sound asleep, but there were tear stains on her cheeks, he brushed the few strands of hair behind her ear. He pressed a chaste kiss on her forehead before getting comfortable on the ground beside the couch.

“Good night (Y/N).”

(Y/N) groaned blinking a few times to adjust to the light that was peeking through the curtain of the living room. She sat upright against the arm of the couch tilting her head some side to side earning a few cracks, she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes before letting out a loud sigh.

Her attention turned to the figure sleeping on the ground next to her, “Tom?” she mumbled he was curled up with Tessa without a blanket. She leaned forward tapping Tom’s shoulder again, “Thomas, wake up.” he jerked forward slightly causing Tessa to wake up.

He squinted his eyes slightly to see (Y/N) looking down at him in confusion, “Why are you on the gro-” Tom sat up on his knees pulling her into a hug “I’m so sorry, I didn’t want to leave you alone. I’m so sorry I had said that, I- I wouldn’t know what I’d do without you in my life. I fucked up (Y/N), I’m so fucking sorry.” he sobbed into her neck.

She wrapped her arms around him running her hands through his hair, “Bub? I understand if you need some alone time, I do. Just talk to me, don’t go off the grid and have me worried. This is just another obstacle that we can get over.” (Y/N) pulled away from him moving her hands to cup his cheeks.

“It did hurt when you said that though but, I know you’re sorry. Let’s not dwell on it and move on from it hm? If you want to go out with the boys I’m not holding you back from that. Just tell me where you’re going and text me when you’re on your way home. And if I wanted to go out, I’d do the same thing too text or call you.”

Tom nodded in agreement pressing a kiss into the palm of her hand, (Y/N) leaned forward to give him a chaste kiss before leaning her forehead against his, “I love you.” she whispered as Tom nugged his nose against her’s.

“I love you too. Now, let’s go shower I wanna take my girl out today.”

suggestion: an evil producer or something decides to out taemin's relationship while filming something/doing something live, and onew and minho come to the rescue (and since the fans already knew and didn't care, I bet they'd give the producer reasons to live in fear lol)

It was supposed to just be a documentary on various SM artists, and on the way the company runs in general. It was some sort of special anniversary thing, Taemin didn’t really know exactly. All he knew was that he had a small interview about his debut and his growth in the company and film a couple scenes learning some new choreography and recording songs and blah blah blah. Standard shit. Taemin wasn’t fazed.

Until months later when it was released and he was sitting at the premiere with so many labelmates and general employees and the press and even the damn CEO and there, on the big screen, is Kibum kissing his neck and tugging him close and Taemin himself giggling and trying to tug himself away, only to sneak a kiss on Kibum’s lips just moments later.

Apparently, secret relationships were a big part of this documentary. An unplanned addition. An unannounced plan that the director had as a way of exposing idol dating culture. Something that got no approval from those in charge of running this entire project, so pretty much everyone was shocked and confused and angry.

There were several other relationships outed as well, but Taemin felt frozen in his seat after his was finished playing out. So many people were looking at him, staring at him, whispering about him, and Kibum wasn’t even there that night and Taemin felt like he couldn’t breathe.

“Let’s go,” Jinki, his manager, whispers to him. And he pulls Taemin up and ushers him out of the theater, out of the building, and into a van all while shielding Taemin as best he can from various flashing cameras and nosy reporters who want to know why he (and several other idols) are leaving so soon.

Taemin is 24. He’s 24 and he’s been an idol for ten years and he’s been dating Kibum for five years but he has no idea what to do. This is his entire life that’s just been potentially ruined by a single director with an agenda of outing idol relationships. His whole life is about to be turned upside down, he could lose his job, his fans, everything because of one person.

“It will be okay,” Jinki tells him. “They’re already no doubt figuring out how to damage control. No one else will ever see that movie. Everything will be okay.”

“No it won’t,” he chokes, staring straight out the window and not moving. “Everyone’s gonna hate me.”

“No they won’t.”

“Yes they will!” Taemin screams, his head snapping abruptly to turn to Jinki. “I have to be perfect! And not being single makes me not perfect! Dating a dude makes me not perfect!”

“Life is not about obtaining perfection,” Jinki tells, his voice firm. “You work your body to the point of pure exhaustion, mentally and physically, trying to achieve something that’s impossible. Your fans love you because you’re you. Because they like your music and your personality and your dancing. Real fans won’t give a shit who you’re dating so long as they make you happy.”

Taemin doesn’t say anything for a while, instead going back to staring straight ahead. Jinki ends up walking Taemin up to his house, making even helping him over to the couch. Taemin is completely dazed, and it’s really worrying.

“I’ve worked so hard,” Taemin eventually says in a strangled voice. “For practically my whole life, I’ve worked so, so hard to be good at this. And it’s all ruined.”

He’s panicking and tears are spilling from his eyes and Jinki just sits next to him and holds him close. He’s been Taemin’s manager since he debuted, he knew exactly when Taemin started Kibum, he’s been there for everything Taemin’s ever had to go through. But this is by far hitting Taemin the hardest.

But of course it is. It’s a blatant invasion of privacy, and it really does have the potential to ruin Taemin’s career. Jinki won’t let it, of course, but that doesn’t mean the possibility can’t scare Taemin.

Jinki rarely sees Taemin cry, and this is by far the most he’s ever seen Taemin cry so desperately. Jinki sits with him for hours, consoling him, comforting him.

When Kibum comes home later that night from teaching a dance workshop, he freaks out over seeing a crying, distraught Taemin being held by his manager.

“What happened?” Kibum asks, rushing over. “Did someone get hurt? Are you hurt? What happened?”

Jinki has to tell him, because Taemin can’t quite form a coherent sentence.

Kibum is pissed. He’s angry and pissed off and he wants to do something about it, but he decides the best thing to do right now is just help Taemin calm down.

“I’m gonna go,” Jinki says after Taemin finally starts breathing normally again. “I’ll text you any updates on the situation. Just try to lay low for now.”

For the next three days, Taemin barely leaves the bed. He doesn’t answer calls, he doesn’t go online, he barely even looks at his phone. He just stays in bed either staring out the window, sleeping, or watching old kids movies.

Kibum stays with him as much as he can, tries to help him feel some sort of comfort. But they don’t really talk much. He’s never seen Taemin retreat into himself as much or as drastically as this.

“I’m gonna go get us something to eat,” Kibum says gently after a couple days. “Do you want anything specific.”

“Not hungry.”

He’s barely eaten anything if Kibum hasn’t practically forced him.

“I’ll be back in a little bit,” Kibum says. “Maybe try showering before I get back?”

“Kay.”

He probably won’t. Kibum knows he probably won’t.

While the incident has been in a few gossip columns, it’s been effectively buried by the company. It could have potentially ruined several of their most popular artists, it wasn’t something they were going to let get out there. Really, they said the documentary was highly fabricated by the director, that it was entirely unreliable and fictional, and that’s enough to appease the general public and fans alike.

Although many fans know the dating rumors are true. Most of them don’t care. Taemin’s fans in particular have known about Taemin and Kibum for years, but they’ve never been bothered by it. So long as Taemin is happy, that’s all they care about.

But Taemin is clearly unhappy during this time. The photos and videos of him leaving the original viewing very clearly show him upset and panicked. He’s been MIA for over a week since then, and even Kibum’s Instagram and online presence has severely declined in activity. He posted from the dance workshop that was held the same night, but nothing since then. It’s very worrying, especially since Kibum usually posts at least once a day, if not more.

It’s not until Minho, an actor and frequent variety show guest, finally speaks up about it that Taemin realizes maybe it won’t be the end of the world.

“We might be in the public eye, but we’re still people,” Minho says. “And to put these relationships on blast and just out all these relationships as what? A power move? Is just so reprehensible. It doesn’t matter if they’re true or not, you’re actively trying to ruin someone’s career because you think idols dating should be talked about more. But that just opens us up to more potential for hate by non-fans. And seeing so much hate does a lot more damage to a person’s health than you think it would.”

Minho, although not technically an idol, is an actor under SM. And his relationship with a stylist within the company was shown as well.

But seeing that Minho is okay, that he’s still out there doing his job and his life isn’t crumbling around him - that helps Taemin realize his career isn’t over because of one potential scandal.

Taemin is back to his usual self after a couple weeks. He’s still nervous and afraid of backlash, but he tries his best to just be happy in the moment. Plus, it helps that Kibum is so supportive.

After almost two weeks of complete silence from both of them, a fun video of Taemin learning new choreography is uploaded to Kibum’s Instagram. They’re in a company practice room, and Taemin comes out of a spin giggling, a little dizzy, and falling over to make funny faces at Kibum. Five minutes later, Taemin posts a mirror selfie in the same room with Kibum standing right next to him, an arm wrapped around his waist.

They’re so obviously together. They’ve never been super subtle about it. But they should be allowed to make the decision of when to officially announce it. And right now, neither of them are comfortable doing that. And that’s okay.

5 years

It was 5 years ago today that a humble little minecraft server first opened its gates. 5 years ago, I started @quixol with a team of 8 friends. Today, only 4 of those original friends are still on our Staff team, and the server is a shadow of its former self.

There’s a lot I could talk about with Quixol, but before I get into it, I just want it to be known that this is a highly personal post from me. This isn’t an official announcement, but seeing as I’m an admin, it’s definitely of pertinence if you are someone who is a part of the Quixol community.

If you’re new to following me, or just don’t know what I’m talking about: Quixol is a trans-friendly minecraft server started by me and a few pals back on November 16, 2015. It’s primarily populated by folks from here on Tumblr, and is an LGBT+ only community. Over its 5 years, it’s gotten over 1600 unique players. And... Well, there’s a lot of history that took place during and after that, I can’t hope to summarize it here. You can see more on the about page on our blog.

So, yeah. Today is the 5-year anniversary of Quixol. Pretty big deal! And... we have nothing in store for today to celebrate that huge milestone. Pretty big bummer. The prior 4 years, the anniversary was the single biggest celebration of the year. We typically tried to schedule large server updates to coincide with the anniversary, just to make it feel that much more special. So, on the day that marks a whole half-decade of being online, why do we have no plans? It’s a long, complicated story. I’ll only be able to tell you my side of it. Everything written below is from my perspective, and doesn’t necessarily reflect how others think or feel.

Regardless of the lonely feeling on the server now, I just want to say, I’m really glad I could host such a fantastic community for so many years. Thank you everyone who has made the past half decade so special.

Where to begin... All I can say at the start here is, don’t expect anything coherent, I typed this up while sleep deprived just the night before posting this, without much forethought of what I’d say in it. I just feel I need to get these feelings off my chest before I can mentally move on, you know.

Before I delve into this, I just want to put this sort of disclaimer at the top here: Despite how gloomy I make things sound throughout this post, Quixol is and was an amazing place, that I’m so glad to say I got to play such a pivotal role in. I wouldn’t trade my time here for anything. It’s been an honor to serve as an Admin over such an incredible community. I’ve seen countless new friendships forged, plenty of laughs and fun times to be had... I’ve even known several couples that met through their time on Quixol, I’ve known several people that came out or discovered more about their identity/gender/sexuality while on Quixol. It’s a great community, despite its flaws, and what we did over these past 5 years is nothing short of spectacular. I’m forever thankful for everyone who helped make this place as special as it is- you’ve all been such great friends. Thank you.

While I may speak a great deal about some of the lowest lows that happened on Quixol, you better believe it had some of the highest highs as well. Keep that in mind, so you know why I’m spending this much time and effort to commemorate this server that I’ve called home for so long.

I’ll start here with a rough timeline of Quixol... I’ll even include some screenshots for you all.

Old World (Nov. 2015 - Mar. 2017, mc 1.8 - 1.9)

Quixol began back in 2015 like I mentioned- whitelisted at first, but moved on to being unwhitelisted at a later date (I believe it was summer of 2016). Hundreds of people joined after the whitelist was removed, in just the first month or so. We owe that initial success to how much our blog post about the server got shared around, it served as a nice advertisement for the server. It was only posted to tumblr, so everybody who joined then was from the same sort of social sphere of 2016 tumblr. It was pretty lively, and we made lots of friends very quickly. A lot never logged in again after the first initial burst, but a fair amount stuck around.

The server started on minecraft version 1.8, which was before the end update that introduced elytra & all the controversial combat changes. Most people never even saw the server on this version, though, since it was still whitelisted when we updated to 1.9. The world we used back in 2015-2016 eventually got deleted at a later date, however we did provide an archive of this old world to download, it’s... somewhere on our blog, you can go find it if you poke around a bit. (Assuming the download hasn’t been removed from the website I uploaded it to, which would make sense since it’s just 20 gb sitting on some server doing nothing).

While there was plenty of merriment, there was also the fair share of drama. I can’t even hope to recall all the drama that happened in 2016, but one of our og mods got banned completely after the rest of the staff sort of woke up to the realization they were incredibly abusive. There’s lots of other stuff that happened then- I wish I could tell the “full tale” as it were, but it would be so long-winded that almost nobody would bother to read. Plus, my memory isn’t very good, so I would need to dig through old blog posts, discord messages, screenshots, etc etc to jog my memory... way too much work.

Protos (Mar. 2017 - Nov. 2018, mc 1.11 - 1.12)

2017 came around, and that’s when we updated the server to 1.11 and created a new world (Protos). That update happened on March 26, 2017- I remember because march 26th is my birthday, and the other staff made a cute little celebration for me on that day and I literally cried from how happy I was. It was the nicest thing anyone’s done for me in a long time. (God, I miss those times.)

A lot more happened during this time period, and honestly I’d consider the period in which Protos was our main, active world to be the most consistently active the server has ever been. It wasn’t always exploding with activity, but the people who joined and played during this time were consistent. And we had a relatively consistent influx of new players.

There was a lot more drama that happened during this time... More staff members left, mostly of their own accord (but never on a wholly positive note). Drama amongst some of the veteran/long-time players, arguments over how to interpret and enforce our rules.

Regardless of the troubles, I’d say this period was overall quite positive for Quixol. We even brought in our first batch of new staff members during this period.

Ghalea (Nov. 2018 - Present, mc 1.13 - 1.15)

I believe late 2018 was when we updated the server from 1.12 to 1.13. We rushed the update to this version quite a lot, which was a shame since it ensured the server had an egregious amount of bugs to work out, and lots of missing plugins/functionality. With this update, we made another new world (and, our current main world): Ghalea.

Regardless of buggy behavior, we managed to hit what I believe is the all-time peak concurrent player count we have ever gotten, which is something like 54-56 players playing at the same time. The server chugged so hard, I’m surprised it didn’t crash. All of those parties were so stressful to put on, but at the same time, incredibly fun and fulfilling to see when lots of people showed up and had a good time.

Funny, though: despite the success of the server, 2018 and early 2019 are the closest the server has ever gotten to absolutely tearing itself apart from internal staff drama. By early-mid 2019, several staff members ended up getting banned one after the other. So that left us with very few staff by that point (only 6 active staff, myself included, if I remember correctly).

2019 should have been a great year for Quixol, seeing as it was what many people referred to as the “minecraft renaissance”, “the great minecraft revival”, etc etc etc. However, the drama amongst the staff, coupled with drama in our personal lives, and just an all around lack of staff members to kick things into gear, resulted in a pretty lackluster year compared to the previous 4 years.

Despite all of that, we worked tirelessly to complete our greatest project yet, Chroma Park, just before our 4th anniversary on Nov 16th, 2019. It took a whole team of builders to complete, and several months in preparation/building.

With such a grand project completed, you would expect it would result in a flurry of new activity on the server... unfortunately, it ended up being almost the opposite. Because we called upon our “build team” to help with it, (several talented veteran players who volunteered their building skills), nearly all of our active players suffered some serious burnout after the major project they just completed. Lots of people just weren’t feelin’ up to minecraft anymore... And, that spelled the beginning of the end, really.

The culmination of this was that, going into 2020, activity on the server just... plummeted. Then, we all know what a shit year 2020 turned into. That just furthered feelings of burnout. I made another personal post about this, back in April- explaining why I had been relatively absent from the server for a while. It goes into more detail about the “hiatus” at that time, what caused it, why it continued so long, and how my personal feelings were at that time. Give it a read if you want. It even goes more in-depth about some of Quixol’s former staff, and how toxic behavior from them may have negatively impacted the community (especially in 2018-2019).

So, basically nothing has happened on Quixol in 2020... I took the time to update the server from 1.14 to 1.15 back in July, just so that the server was on a more stable version of minecraft- but all the effort poured into that resulted in basically nothing happening. Barely anyone even noticed, because it was such a minor update focusing on bug fixes. I hoped it would get the ball rolling again, but it just wasn’t enough.

While I wasn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet, I decided it was for the best if I put any plans on the backburner for a while, and focus more attention on building infrastructure back up again. I spent some time researching sysadmin stuff, and looking into upgrading my PC. I set up a new discord bot that we’re currently using on Quixol, & have in a few other discord servers I’m active in.

Then, I got tossed one of the most difficult months of my life in a long time pretty recently. It’s very recent/fresh, but suffice it to say, a decent chunk of what made it such a horrible month was related to drama within the Quixol friend group, particularly... me being a shitty friend. I made another post about this a while back, but I won’t link it since it’s a bit vague and not super relevant to what I’m talking about here. Just know, September this year pretty much demolished any feelings of hope I had for continuing work on Quixol.

So, that leads us to... Today. The 5th anniversary of Quixol.

Where did it all go wrong?

Now that I’ve laid out as quick a summary of the past 5 years as I could, I want to talk about some of the mistakes we made along the way. The people that made Quixol what it is, and how that history always seems to tie me down.

To tell you the truth, saying that “it all went wrong” sounds horribly pessimistic to me. Sure, I felt pessimistic going into writing this, but... Just looking back on everything we’ve accomplished, there’s never really a point where it “went wrong”. Moreso, Quixol has had its fair share of flaws baked in from the very beginning. But, perhaps those flaws are what made it what it really is. I can’t go back and change the past, and neither can you. Perhaps the best we can do is just accept Quixol for what it is, and acknowledge its shortcomings while allowing ourselves to feel happy about the good memories we do have.

While I’m not going to cast away every pleasant memory I have of Quixol, I must admit I find so many of them tainted and forever changed, just because of how many people entered this community, made their stay known, then left or were cast away on a sour note. There are countless people that were a huge part of Quixol, of my life, my friends, that I don’t speak to anymore. People that hate me. Maybe even some that I hate.

If I go back and think fondly of those times, I remember how the people in those memories largely don’t think fondly of me anymore. I remember all of my mistakes, all of the ways I could have avoided that outcome. All the ways I could have worked with those friends, to work out our differences, to just fucking communicate. Sure... some of those friends, there was nothing I could do for them. Nothing I could do to make things work. But, all the same... it stings, thinking of everyone I used to know. Not knowing who is still a friend, or who simply has no need for me anymore...

So much of Quixol’s history is tied up in knots this way. Complicated webs of emotion, suffocating in the tethers to its past. So many things built on the server, just wasting away, never to be touched again... New players won’t even know it. They don’t know, can’t know the history behind those blocks that were placed. It sounds a bit silly talking about it this way, but that’s how it feels to me. There’s real history behind each of these blocks, all of the little farms and structures and silly signs. So much of it, nobody even knows. But it wears on my heart, knowing all of that history, and feeling so disconnected from it. Feeling cast away by the people who forged those memories.

It’s a disconnect that’s always hurt, to me. Maybe I’m just too sentimental, nostalgic. Maybe I cling to the past too much. But it feels impossible to ignore... So much of what made Quixol what it is today was left there by people who want nothing to do with me, us, anymore. What does that say about Quixol? About me...? About our group?

There’s a lot I could say about this, but it’s stuff I’ve mentioned before. I hang on too tightly to the past, and am often too critical of my own mistakes. But, sometimes the past is just the way it is, and there’s not much that can be done about it. Regardless, I find myself feeling regrets about every little thing that went wrong, and thinking about where all those people are now... Maybe one of them is even reading this right now. If you’re out there, hey. We can still talk. I’m not going to hold a grudge on you forever. It’s ok.

My influence

Since Quixol began in 2015, I’ve tried my best to be nothing more than an “Admin” of Quixol... not the “owner” or “lead admin” or “founder”, just “admin”. I hoped I could encourage the other admins to be leaders in their own rights. While each of the admins we’ve had has been great leaders in their own respect, I feel that every one of them has been, unfortunately, tied down by my influence to some extent.

In most aspects of life, I’m a very timid, indecisive person. I’m incredibly anxious, and lack confidence to a worrying degree. However, a different side of me can be seen in the safe, comfortable environment that Quixol provided for me. Surrounded by friends and people who I felt really got me, I became comfortable enough to show some level of confidence in myself... In all honesty, for a long time, I was never able to recognize this self confidence for what it was. I really was not, and mostly still am not, used to feeling confident in myself or my own abilities. Like, at all. So when I actually feel good about myself, like I actually know what I’m doing... Well, for a really long time, I didn’t even process it as such. I just felt like I knew the right answers, and that was it.

On Quixol, this often manifested in a specific way... Being proud of my own knowledge & skills with minecraft, I would insert myself into any discussion about Minecraft, the server, or just anywhere I could, and offer up my knowledge, opinions & help. This hardly sounds like a problem, but... The problem was just in my unwavering presence. I was everywhere on Quixol, you couldn’t escape me. I dominated the space with my presence. Not that I interrupted people (usually...?), I just would try to put myself anywhere a conversation was happening, assuming it was, like, appropriate for me to do so on some level.

Whenever I chimed in with my thoughts, eventually there became this sort of air of almost... superiority about it. This feeling that my word was “final”, or that I had some layer of expertise on everything, and that if I said what you said was right, that was a pretty good indicator you were on the right track. I didn’t pretend like I was infallible, and I don’t think anyone ever saw me as that. But the perception was generally that if Vivian says it, that holds weight to it. Perhaps this is somewhat unavoidable of a staff member, but... it was this way even amongst the staff.

I never really realized that I was creating this environment within the community, because it happened rather slowly. But as things moved along, other staff began to pick up on this (perhaps subconsciously). Including even the other admins. Quickly, my own insistence on doing things a Specific Way, became “the Right Way” to do things on Quixol... Whether I intended it or not.

Now, this is something I didn’t know until quite recently, but I actually have OCD (undiagnosed, but it’s glaringly obvious to me at this point). My ocd comes out in minecraft, and specifically Quixol, quite a lot. I have very ritualistic ways of doing things, whether it be while building a project in-game, to managing specific parts of the server- we have a very detailed format in which update logs are written, and I have very specific rituals related to updating plugins on the server, taking backups, etc. Even just the way I play survival minecraft has sorts of rituals in a way, like specific patterns in which I place torches. I’m not too educated on ocd, so excuse me if I’m using some terminology of this wrong, or if I’m spreading some sort of misinformation about it. This is just my experience.

Anyhow, with the extremely regimented way I manage things on the server, coupled with my constant presence in things, you can understand how this might lead to other admins, who have their own mental illness issues, to become very averse to doing a lot of admin-related duties. After months and months, years, even, of this sort of stuff... and... yeah. That leads to where we are now.

With my selfish behavior in the past, I’ve unintentionally created this staff environment where people are reluctant to make their own decisions, show their own creativity, etc. And that must feel incredibly frustrating if you actually want to do something to make a difference on Quixol...

I’m not even accounting for all the times I’ve butted heads with the other staff before, either. While much less frequent, I’ve definitely had arguments with folks in the past. And with the great amount of influence I hold over the server, it takes a lot of courage to stand up to what I say.

I’ve always resented that I hold this position of power over everyone else, and tried many times to address it. However, I don’t think I ever quite had a full picture of why things were this way. Now, I think I understand it better. Sadly, it feels too little, too late to make any significant changes without uprooting pretty much everything we have set in place already. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m being too pessimistic here... But, this is how I feel at the present moment.

I’m sincerely sorry to any current or former staff members, who have wanted to do something great for Quixol, but felt they could never convince me to go through with your idea... Or who felt pushed away from doing something they otherwise would’ve liked to, just because the attitude I gave, the environment my presence created, made you feel like you weren’t good enough or qualified enough to do it. You are good enough. I’m so sorry that my actions made you convinced otherwise...

I will say, this sort of mindset of mine, that I have to be the Most Right about anything relating to minecraft, or any hyperfixation/special interest of mine, has caused problems elsewhere, too. I talked about this in another post I made. I’ve only really come to realize all this stuff within the past few months, but I’ve been a really terrible friend to a lot of people. I never even realized until recently just how often I struggle with empathy, and how that’s colored so many of my friendships. Needless to say, it’s affected things on Quixol before, sometimes without me even realizing it.

My influence over the community also means if anybody’s relations with me in particular ever become marred, it must inevitably result in them leaving the community because there’s simply no escaping me. There’s not really anything I can do about this, though, aside from doing whatever I can to become a kinder, more

I’m far from a perfect person, and my imperfections seeped into so much of what made Quixol what it is. However, it’d be silly to suggest that I’m the singular reason that Quixol is flawed, if anything, that would be another form of arrogance- assuming that I singlehandedly shaped the way Quixol took form. The Future

This part is probably why many of you clicked on this post... You want to know what’s going to happen to Quixol. You likely noticed I’ve been referring to Quixol in the past tense a lot in this post. Honestly, I’m not sure why I did that, it just felt the most natural to type it that way. But, I will be honest- the future of Quixol right now isn’t looking very bright.

This is a personal post, so I don’t want to deliver any sort of formal announcement about plans for Quixol here, especially since I haven’t run this post by the other staff before posting it.

For the past 2 and a half months, I’ve been taking a very long break from Quixol. Much greater than any previous break of mine... I’ve neglected to even log in for weeks at a time. I still keep an eye on the discord server, and check the mc <-> discord bridge channel to see which players have been logging in. But I have little to no motivation to play, even just casually.

While I’d love to give you some fun cool news about how this hiatus is ending soon and I have a million and one projects planned, that simply isn’t the case. I’ve gotten to this point where I’m rethinking everything about myself, who I am, and what I’m doing with my life. Surely, I can’t dedicate all my time and energy to running a minecraft server for the rest of my life, even though I do care deeply about this community. But at the same time, it’s not really my call to shut down Quixol, and I’d hate to pull the plug just because of my own lack of motivation.

So, for the time being at least, you can probably consider Quixol to be on a sort of “indefinite hiatus”. I am generally the one to update plugins, do major server updates, etc., and I likely won’t be doing any of that any time soon. I fully entrust the other staff to handle that stuff if they really want to, and I’ve expressed that to them already. But as things stand, nobody else seems to want to pick up the torch right now. Shit is rough for pretty much everyone, and we’re all equally burnt out. We’ve all grown up quite a lot since Quixol began, too. So... Don’t expect anything anytime soon.

If there are any updates, they’ll come in our Discord server first.

As for me, personally... I just need time away from all of this. It’s clearer than ever to me that I have a lot of personal problems I need to work on, and I think that the cozy safe environment provided by Quixol didn’t challenge me enough to really address those issues. I need time to focus on myself & my own growth. At the same time, I also feel like I need more experience being a part of a team, instead of just running the show. I’m not getting the kind of enrichment I need from running Quixol, so I’m trying to turn my attention elsewhere.

I’m doing this not because I want to abandon you guys, or because I feel like I want/need to move on from this community. It’s just... Something I need to do, for myself. And I’ll still be around, I’m still gonna be posting to my tumblr & twitter and stuff, and you can still reach me on discord. I’m just focusing my time elsewhere for once.

What does that mean for the future of Quixol? I don’t really know yet. But, for now, it’s not going anywhere. It’s just... also not changing anytime soon. Not even a little bit. I’m sorry to give you this disappointing news, but I hope you all understand.

I miss the good times on Quixol, too. I really do. Maybe we can share them again sometime? Who knows...

For now, that’s all.

It breaks my heart that we don’t have anything glitzy and glamorous to do to celebrate Quixol’s 5th anniversary... But it would be asking far too much of the staff to set anything like that up right now. Maybe we can have some sort of celebration later...? I dunno.

MARCH 2021 GOLD STAR MEDIA SCHEDULES & REVIEW

Members may earn 3 points each (up to 6 points) for writing, by the end of April 7 KST:

A solo para of 400+ words based on their monthly schedule (does not count toward your monthly total).

A thread of six posts (three per participant, including the starter) based on their monthly schedule.

OVERALL COMPANY

Delays in construction have the opening date of the base Culture Complex delayed by a few months more than anticipated, but the idols are still on schedule to participate in preparing materials. This month, all idols will go into a studio to film short videos that will be used for a AR photobooth where fans can “take pictures” with their favorite idols. The videos they need to film will be pretty simple: sitting on benches and standing in a few different poses in front of a green screen (examples: 1, 2).

March 1-March 31: base Culture Complex museum AR photobooth filming (admin note: muses may encounter idols from other companies while there).

GOLD STAR SOLOIST 1

After spending a good part of last month preparing, she has to film her special Yoo Heeyeol’s Sketchbook episode this month. It will be an all-day filming since she’s the guest for the entire episode, which is formatted like a mini-concert with talk sections in between.

March 13: Yoo Heeyeol’s Sketchbook filming (to be aired: March 20).

GOLD STAR SOLOIST 2

Her first cover video uploaded onto YouTube by Gold Star was well-received, so they’ve arranged for her to film another cover video with their resources. This time, it’s a cover of Pink Sweat$’s “Honesty” to keep in the lane of R&B, but showing a more vulnerable side this time.

GOLD STAR SOLOIST 3

March brings with it the end of his North America tour with six more dates mid-month across the United States and Canada. He doesn’t have many schedules when he’s back in Seoul, but his management passes word down to him that Gold Star is finalizing the details for him to begin to prepare for a comeback with a mini-album in late summer.

SILHOUETTE

"You’re The Best” is a success and well-received for showing Silhouette’s versatility as a brighter hit after the more intense “Sixth Sense” last year. After they end their music show promotions, Silhouette will immediately fly out to New York to attend KCON there. Once they return to Seoul, they’ll head back into the studio to record for a Japanese comeback with a full-length album.

ARIA

Aria will continue to prepare for their concert through March, including the solo stages they began preparing last month. Their tenth anniversary is approaching next month, as well, and for that, they’ll be releasing a special fan song. It won’t be promoted at all, like all of their fan songs, but they’ll go into the studio to record the song this month and film the music video at the end of March.

March 28: “Everybody Ready” M/V filming.

ORIGIN

Origin spends the beginning of the month in Seoul, continuing to prepare for their Japanese comeback with fittings and the photo shoot for the photo book and teasers. Mid-month, they’ll be back in North America to do more dates of their concert tour, but once they return, they’ll film the music video.

March 7: Photo book and teaser photo shoot.

March 10: Map of the Soul tour concert at FedEx Field in Landover, MD, USA.

Impulse makes their anticipated comeback next month, meaning that in addition to days in the practice studio, they also have to shoot photos for their album and the comeback teasers. On the twentieth, they’re scheduled for a long day of filming for their comeback music video.

March 20: “All Night” M/V filming.

FUSE

Fuse has been chosen as the new faces of Shilla Duty Free, and will do a promotional photo shoot for the company before the halfway mark of the month passes. While they’re on set for the photo shoot, they’ll be asked to sign a few albums and other pieces of merchandise with special, heartfelt messages for contest winners.

↳ FUSE B&W

In addition to getting fitted for outfits for both their debut and their follow-up single promotions, the sub-unit members will be spending a lot of time in the studio this month to perfect the choreography for both “Monster” and “Naughty”. The focus is on “Monster” since it’s what they’ll be promoting first, but their choreographer anticipates that “Naughty” will take longer to get down.

Important dates:

March 25: M/V [2] and stage outfit [2] fittings.

ELEMENT

Element will film their comeback music video in the second week of the month. Between the MV filming and the comeback, they’ll mostly be rehearsing and doing last minute fittings and meetings, but they’ll also be taking a trip to the United States to perform during music festival SXSW’s Korea Spotlight event. Once they fly back to Seoul, their team’s focus is entirely on the comeback.

March 8: “Red Moon” M/V filming.

March 17: Performance at SXSW in Austin, TX, USA (also performing: BC Soloist 1).

March 24: Release of “Red Moon” & Red Moon mini-album + press showcase, music show promotions continue through April 24.

FEMME FATALE

Now that their tour is over, the members of Femme Fatale are expected to focus completely on preparing for their comeback. This month, that means continuing to nail down their performance in addition to attending fittings for their music video and stage outfits. As fashion is marketed as an important part of Femme Fatale’s image, fittings are especially important for them. Near the end of the month, they’ll shoot their teaser photos for the comeback.

Important dates:

March 18: M/V and stage outfit fittings.

March 28: Teaser photo shoot.

VIVE

Everyone must be moved into the dorm by March 8 and be living there fulltime. Their debut is quickly approaching, with a much shorter preparation period than idols would normally have under Gold Star, so everything is moving two times faster than it would normally be. Vive will not only record their mini-album this month, but also learn the choreography for the title track and b-sides “Cat & Dog” and “Blue Orangeade”. In between their already hectic schedules that also include fittings and photo shoots, each member of the group, as well as the full group, will also film an “introduction video” which will serve as additional hype for their debut:
