🌈 is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

I struggled the entire time trying to get through Ghosts That We Knew, the conclusion to the Picture Perfect series. I honestly hadn't planned to write a whole ass trilogy. Dark Side was the only one I had an idea for, and then halfway through, people wanted more. So I started planning the sequel, Come Back to Me. I'm not a fan of duologies. Trilogies just make more sense. So I started thinking up plots for the third entry. Where could Tony and Loki go after marrying and having two kids (one through a relationship, the other through a surrogate)? What kind of problems would they face? I had no idea, lol. I knew I wanted to insert another kid (Audrey Maria or "Audi"), but I also wanted to show that after 8 years and 3 kids, even the most in-love couples have bad times. I'd gotten about halfway through and just blanked on where to go. It didn't help I was having outside issues -- my RP partner (whom I was in love with) and I were having issues, I was stressing about school, and my dad was having health problems at the time. Oh, and I was struggling to RP too. But I was able to pull something out in the end. And everyone seemed to enjoy it. 😁

🤍what’s one fic of yours you think people didn’t “get”?

It's not a fic that's completed, nor is it posted on AO3 anymore, but it's Fools Rush In. It was Frostiron set in the Matthew Perry/Salma Hayek movie. First time I was writing fem!Loki and even tho I only published like 4 or 5 chapters, I got complaints that Loki was "too feminist" and "obsessed with her dad's [Odin's] opinions about what a woman her age should be doing." To be clear, Loki was a 28yo grad student who'd been adopted by the Odinsons as a baby and at 13, chose to search for her birth parents who were teenagers when she was born. She was the youngest in the Odinson clan (Thor and Baldur being older) and the oldest in the Laufeyson family (Helblindi and Býleistr were much younger). And the only girl. So Odin certainly had a lot of opinions about her needing to be settled and married, not living with her bestie (Natasha) in an apartment in a big city.

This isn't the reason the fic is incomplete, tho! I removed it, along with four other fics, from AO3 and ff.net bc I'd reached a block on all of them and I felt bad just letting them sit there unfinished. I do hope to complete them someday. But we'll see. Here's a banner I made for it, when I still thought Olivia Wilde was a good choice for fem!Loki. I do not anymore.

I’m In An Unhappy Marriage. But I’ll grin and Bare It For Them (Loki Prompt)

This story idea is up for adoption. I will not be writing this. this is the full extent of my writing prowess.

Thor and Loki go through and arranged marriage to unite their kingdoms in peace. Loki is desperate to make this marriage go well for jotunheim because without it his realm is doomed. Meanwhile Thor is unhappy that he was forced to get married to a Jotun and decides to take it all out on Loki(mostly just lots of verbal abuse, school yard bullying, and neglect). 

Married life is hard for Loki: he is forced to wear clothing that has been feminized, unable to leave the realm, not allowed visits from his family, all the rules thor has placed on him (such as never showing his hideous face), he doesnt have any friends, has to always act like a perfect queen/wife,and since thor doesnt respect him and the royal couple barly ever talks to him no one really respects him or treats him like a prince. Its no wonder that are young prince gets more depressed as time goes on. 

 Until one day Thor decides he rather just hang out with his friends and runs away to join the Avengers. When the Avengers finally have to visit asgard they are shocked that Thor has a husband and a baby on the way(or one already here). After doing a little digging they find out just how horribly Thor treats Loki and decide to step in. Because this isn't right and nobody deserves such an unhappy marriage.

Thor is a giant jerk in the beginning of the story. the reason being is that he grew up knowing that he would have an arranged marriage but he always expected it to be with a beautiful women and not a male monster. So Thor decides to take all his frustrations and disappointment out on Loki. He insults him, shoves him around, trips him, pulls his hair, ignores and neglects him, has mistresses, hides his things, and makes comments about him to other people. So It's basically petty playground bullying. It's all because Thor didn't have his life changing banishment to Midguard where a few lessons got pummeled into his head. So yeah Thor has a lot of things he needs to learn before this marriage works out.

Loki decides to marry Thor to help out Jotunheim. Without the casket his realm is falling apart: Building crumbles, food is in short supply, and the weather is never right (it is either colder then it ever should be out they suddenly get a giant heat wave) and what magic they do have can only fix things for a short while. And while trading with other realms would help them (they have lots of jewels in their snowy mountains) Odin made it almost impossible to trade with other places after they lost the war to them. So because of all this Loki knows that all of his people are counting on him to make this marriage work. That is because Odin has promised to return the casket to jotunheim(but only after a specific amount of time has accrued or Loki has produced one/two/three heirs). And Odin needs to be shown that Loki would make a good future queen. that means that Loki has to do several things, like: being calm when Thor (or someone else) does something stupid, help with disputes within the land, studying everything under the sun, and all in all just acting like the perfect Queen.

With all of these rules and with so much on the line Loki is too afraid to act out against Thor or anyone else whenever they are being cruel to him. Instead he bites his tongue and decides to keep quiet until the casket is secured. After that happens he will finally stand up for himself and give everyone a piece of his mind(especially thor)

when Loki arrives on Asgard for the wedding he was wearing a veil (its a marriage tradition on jotunheim) (Got this idea from CypressTiger. Go read their story). After the marriage ceremony ended Loki was about to take of the veil when Thor stopped him. He told Loki that he needs to keep the veil on at all times so that nobody has to witness such an Ugly face (even though Loki is actually the most gorgeous being Thor will ever see underneath it)

To keep Thor happy Loki complies with his demands and continues to wear the veil and other veils since.

When Thor decides to leave Asguard to hang out with the Avengers Loki was either pregnant or had already had the kid (shows how great of a father Thor is). (Thor never even showed up to the castle much less Asguard during the birth of his own child.

The Avengers don't even know that Thor is married. And Thor doesn't care that he is. He goes parting with his friends and he has sex with woman.

Until one day something happens(maybe a villain, Thanos, Amora, or some dark magical force) makes the Avengers need to go to Asguard for help. When they get there the Avengers finally learn that Thor is a terrible husband(and maybe father). And decide to try and help fix it. Because this marriage is just an unhealthy mess at this point and the only one winning is Odin. Together the Avengers will force some knowledge and common decency into Thor's head. And just maybe Loki will finally get the happy and healthy marriage he deserves.

-maybe just have Loki and his kid/kids in his arms or them standing next to him by the throne when the royal family formally welcome the Avengers to Asguard.

-probably have the older kid hate thor for being a bad dad and for putting his Modi in this situation

-and maybe having Odin telling Loki how nice and patient he is when Thor acts like a fool and runs away. And Loki just smiles and says it okay and its all part of his duty to watch over him and stuff.(you can practically smell the BS)

-Thor probably ends up in a loving marriage with Loki in the end but he doesn't have to. Loki could end up getting married to one or two of the Avengers instead

Again this is a story idea and I will not be writing it. This is about all the writing I can do. But if you would like to adopt this story idea please let me know. Also please let me know what you think of this idea I wrote.

if frost troll loki is this petit now, how small was he as a child?

I’m so glad you asked this because it’s something I’ve always wanted to talk about in the story but could never seem to find a way to do it without using a flashback or an awkward narrative device. Please allow me to bombard you with way more information than you ever asked for 😂

Baby frost trolls are born very small and in litters. For the first several months of their lives, they subsist entirely on milk and don’t grow very much. However, their senses develop rapidly and they learn to communicate with their littermates and their parents. When their baby teeth begin to come in, usually around 10 months of age, they are weaned and begin to eat solid food. At this point, they begin to grow at a faster rate and reach full adulthood around 350 years old (which is about 10 by Jötunheim reckoning and 14 ½ on Asgard).

Sidenote:

Loki is 396 years old in this story, which is 12 on Jötunheim and 16 ½ on Asgard. Thor is 496 years old, meaning he’s 15 on Jötunheim and just over 20 on Asgard. But these are just numbers, really. Thor is not actually 20 human years old, but is more like 25ish because the Æsir age much differently than humans. Likewise, Loki is not actually 16 ½, but more like 19 or 20.

At one time, 2 to 4 jötlings was an acceptable number of babies. However, with recent attitudes changing under Fárbauti’s rule, it has become shameful to have so few offspring. (I’ll explain more about this in later chapters.)

Trolls have long life spans—3,000 to 6,000 years, a little longer than the Æsir, who live to 2,000 to 3,000 years (for this story)—but their fertility (number of eggs) declines steadily after reaching adulthood. The ideal age for having jötlings is usually between 550 and 1,500. Technically, frost trolls can begin breeding once they reach full sexual maturity at 350 years, but they’re considered very young for motherhood, rather like human girls in their late teens. They may be physically capable of having babies, but that doesn’t mean that they should. They still have some growing up to do before they’re ready for that responsibility.

Frost trolls mate often for pleasure and love, but pregnancies are few and seldom accidental. (Again, this will be explained in later chapters.) After the first litter is born, troll parents must typically wait 300 years before trying for a second litter. This allows the mother’s body to heal fully and is also nature’s way of keeping the troll population at a healthy, sustainable level since they have so many offspring and live for so long. 

This means there are only about 1,000 years of fertility for a single frost troll, which isn’t much in a lifespan of up to 6,000 years. (For reference, a human woman’s fertile years make up about half of her lifespan; with trolls, they are only fertile for 17% of their lives.) There are ways around this small window of opportunity, though. Some troll couples double-breed, which means that both partners sire and bear litters. For example, a troll mother who is pregnant or has just given birth may not be capable of being impregnated for another 300 years, but he is fully capable of impregnating his mate. As it is with humans, sperm quality outlasts egg quality, so older trolls will still be able to impregnate younger mates, but they will not be able double-breed like couples who are a similar age.

Another sidenote: 

There is no shame or taboo as far as the “dominant” or “passive” roles of partners since trolls are all one sex. Both the mother and father lactate to provide nourishment to their numerous offspring (trolls only have two nipples, after all), and childrearing is a shared responsibility. Many a troll mother with a nestful of newborn babies has marched off to war while the father remained at home to care for their young. It all depends on who the better warrior is in the relationship, and it isn’t always the father. Trolls are one of the few races in Yggdrasil who live in a truly equal society.

I hope you can forgive me for that lengthy preamble, anon. Here’s the real answer to your question, at long last:

Loki was born small, as you already know, the runt of a litter of eight and one of only three survivors. His brothers, Helblindi and Býleist, were the other two. But while Helblindi and Býleist eventually grew and hit all of their developmental milestones at the proper time, Loki didn’t. His growth was stunted. (As a child of 200 years, equivalent to a ten-year-old human, he was probably only three and a half feet tall, just half the height and weight of his brothers.)

Loki developed just fine intellectually, but his body was small and weak, beset with all sorts of problems—such as hair on his head—and he was constantly sick. This was probably due to his small stomach being unable to process adult food and extract nutrition from it, and with his immune system already compromised from a lack of his parents’ milk when he was a jötling*, this just set him back even further. Loki would have likely benefited from staying on milk a little longer than his brothers, but his father, Fárbauti, who cannot stand weakness in any form and is basically the embodiment of toxic masculinity in this story, was already angry and ashamed of his ugly runt of a child. Loki would receive no special care from him; he would either grow and learn to keep up with his brothers, or die—and his faulty genetics would die with him.

*Laufey, the mother of Loki and Helblindi and Býleist, died during childbirth and a surrogate was brought in to nurse them. Normally the father would take over the feeding of his children, but Fárbauti refused to nurse his litter because of his disgust at their small number and especially the ugliness of the runt. He isn’t called the Cruel Striker because of his bowling record, that’s for certain.
