First, let me be a nerd as I explain one thing, because I know that not everyone has been in the fandom from the beginning, and this fact was mentioned in the very first event. Gabriel's scythe kills on touch. It is a gift from god that even kings avoid because just one scratch means death.

I don't know if you were aware of this, dear anon, when you asked for this headcanon (if you wanted a less drastic scenario, please let me know, I'll gladly write a second one!). Get ready for angst.

Satan reacted as befitted his sin. Wrath. Rage. Breakdown. A red, thick fog flowed into the streets, only choking the subordinates, but sweeping away the angels. They couldn't stand the mourning that poured out of him, and they died in agony as long as he held your dying body in his arms. This was the only day in the history of Gehenna when the devils lost their will to fight and their king almost followed you into the arms of death, fighting more fiercely than ever before.

You fulfilled your promise. You died to protect Hell. And he failed to protect you. Once you were buried in a beautiful, simple grave, Satan had only one thing on his mind. He promised you that he would be faithful, only yours, for millennia. And he will keep that promise. No lovers, no one-night stands. He couldn't protect you, but he can protect the one you did all this for. Minhyeok and his later children won't even be aware of it, but they have just gained a pure white, red-eyed guardian.

Beelzebub felt you dying rather than saw you. By the time he appeared at your side, it was too late. There was almost no blood flowing, but you both knew that this wound would never heal. He kissed you and whispered soothingly as you died. It was his fault. His damn eternal wandering. If he had stayed, if he had watched you better... You deserved more than being buried among his clones. You should rest with those who, unlike him, did protect you. With your parents. He will show up with your body on Minhyeok's doorstep, hoping that he will get angry and yell at him, but he will only break down in tears over your body. This is not enough for Beelzebub, this is worse than the punishment he expected. He doesn't feel worthy of attending your funeral, but he'll watch from afar anyway.

Your tombstone will always look like new, even for hundreds of years. Intact stone, fresh flowers. There are things that even Beelzebub cannot forget.

Leviathan won't let you die. No, just no. No way. Do not agree. The moment you get hurt, he will catch you in his arms. The face is colder than usual, but the voice is more soothing than ever. "Do not be afraid. You are mine, and I am not letting you go.” He will kiss you one last time and push you into his coffin. Suspended somewhere between worlds, not dead, but not alive either, you will be pushed into eternal sleep, barely remembering who you are.

Leviathan won't stop there, he has to get you back. Only god can save you from death, and if that means this devil has to find him, he will. Anything to get you back to his side. He won't agree to lose another person he loves.

This time Mammon is the spoiled one

MAMMON

The shield you raised could withstand anything - or so you thought, until Gabriel cut through it like a knife through wax. The wound on your forearm was minor. Almost invisible. Still, you stared at it in silence, dazed. You knew what that meant.

A fist sprung in front of your nose a second too late. Shooed the seraph away a second too late. Your life could have been saved. A second too late.

"Master! Are you okay?" Mammon caught up with you and grabbed you in his arms. The grogginess slowly turned into dizziness. You collapsed onto his chest, losing strength.

"He... hurt me." You whispered into his broad chest. His muscles tensed as if ready to attack, but the huge arms lifted you ever so gently. You felt like you were in a huge cradle. The consciousness that slowly drained from your body was glad that it was spending its last moments in these arms.

The king held your limp body for a long time. He couldn't say goodbye to you, he couldn't understand that he had lost you. That you already had left this Hell, and there was nothing he could do about it.

A huge mausoleum was built in the meadow where you died. Gold and silk blinded the inhabitants from afar, outshining the sun itself. Despite the splendor greater than in the palace, everyone considered your tomb to be the poorest place in the world. Mammon visited it every day. He reminded himself that he needed to protect his people better. That he should have protected you better. For the first time in his life he felt real loss.

It was here that Tartaros' greatest treasure was lost.

What a year it's been for fic writing!⭐️

There have been soooo many stories I've read and enjoyed this year, that's it's been super hard to pick favourites, and I've spent a good amount of time this year trying to narrow it down to just 25.

Listen, every single story I've read this year has been absolutely amazing. I am blown away by the sheer amount of talent and creativity we have in this fandom!

If you're not featured here on this particular list, it's not because I don't like your work or didn't enjoy it - far from it. I've simply put together a list of my personal favourites this year, based on how they made me feel, how often I re-read them, and some that have completely floored me.

Her scenarios are magical and written in such a way they evoke such sweet feelings. Honestly reading her stories makes me feel like I'm wrapped in a blanket with hot chocolate watching as the snow silently falls outside.

I'm new to their work. BUT "A Coffin Made of Glass" is so beautifully written. It's dead dove yet so utterly bewitching. It takes place in the space between famous Star Wars scenes and gives a more in-depth view of the character's actions and sentiments.

@spacexseven, omg where do I even begin? Okay, so they just have such a natural way with words. Their stories flow SO smoothly it's honestly astonishing! They've written two Childe fics, "Broken Vows" and "Mandatory Obligations" that I'm wholly obsessed with. The dialogue they write also feels so natural and forthcoming, it's absolutely enticing!!

@rrairey another author whose work I've recently gotten into!! If you're a Sukuna fan then her blog is the place to go.

Seriously, go check out her work!! The way she writes dialogue between the characters and the reader is so utterly perfect. It makes you feel as if you are right there saying those exact words. The scenarios (although) fictional feel so real thanks to her wonderful writing style.

@dear-yandere needs no introduction, she's a staple in the yandere community. Her stories always blend love and creepiness to a perfect extent. Can I take a moment to just appreciate how poetic and GORGEOUS all her stories are?? Like seriously!! "Almost god" is my favorite fanfic of ALL TIME!! And don't even get me started on "Cry for Me"!!

This turned out long I don't think anyone was expecting an essay. To be honest I consume more fanfics than published books nowadays so I guess it's a given to have such a long list.

Reading with Ru: Aug/Sept Fic Recs

I know I'm certainly in need of some positivity and escapism lately, so I'm gonna try to do semi-regular fic and book recs! Starting with a retroactive what I've been reading from the past couple of months with this account! (I might go back in time and make an all-time rec list later)

starting with cod because i know most of you go here

Sergeant Squeaks by @charliemwrites - (series of one-shots ghost x reader and price x reader separately) both one of my favourite reader characters and my favourite canon setting depictions of Ghost and Price. their own weird brands of showing love are wonderful; the tension leading to getting together is fantastic, and the sex is super enjoyable.

Ghost Stories by @kneelingshadowsalome - (ghost x medic!reader) I'm repeating myself, but I love Salome's writing. This is where I was first introduced to it, and I think it's really special. Ghost POV as he struggles with developing and then accepting love. felt so real and grounded. angsty and then fluffy, and you can't help but adore the reader as well.

saltwater by @ceilidho - (ghost x reader) It's pretty unlikely any of you don't know Ceil, but on the off chance you haven't given this one a read yet, it really is a must. I lump praise on her pretty regularly, but I don't know anyone who is able to portray their character's emotions as intimately as Ceil. her ghost feels really grounded in all his complexity. there is a common theme in these recs of really enjoyable reader characters, and this is not an exception; the reader feels like a full but still ambiguous character who is vulnerable and strong and really great.

don't leave me locked in your heart by @ohbo-ohno - (ghoap x reader dark!) we all know bo, we all love bo. I always love the way she depicts ghost and soap's dynamic changing and evolving to include the reader. the descent into dark territory in this is really really fun. It's also just hot and well-written! if you haven't read it before, go read it, and then go read all of bo's drabbles and asks on here. genuinely one of my favourite dark but still fun writers. I think she balances it really well.

body electric by @yeyinde and Afterburn by @sprout-fics - (141 + Los Vaqueros x reader) a classic. I've returned to these so many times. sometimes you just want to read dirty, filthy, well done, smut and then warm cozy aftercare. not to wax poetic about pure sex (except that's exactly what one should do), but I think it can be really hard to write group sex like this and still have such insightful and individual glimpses into each character and dynamic, and Lev does it wonderfully. and then it's also hard to find good aftercare fic, and Sprout's feels like literal aftercare for both the reader character and the reader.

i revisited @winterrose527's fic in August, and even though she already knows how much I love her work, I won't skip a chance to repeat it. Anna writes for asoiaf and is pretty much the queen of Robb Stark/Myrcella Baratheon, but I would say the modern AUs (my favs) can be read almost completely fandom blind. Any contemporary romance enjoyer would love her work. I'm really partial to her kid/single-parent fics. I think it's so hard to get right, and I always adore reading her kid characters and how she approaches love stories when kids are involved. anna's works are always brimming with love and incredible platonic, familiar, parent-child, and romantic relationships (if kid fic isn't your thing she also has a ton of other great fics). personal favs: We Could Be a Little Something, And There They Are, All the Same

Lawless by @goldcranes - (arthur morgan x ofc) age difference, cowboy love story, essentially a romance novel. if goldcranes has no fans, I'm dead. I encourage you to explore her work; very few people write as strongly across multiple fandoms as she does, and each of her works feels like a really strong love story with special characters.

The Odyssey by @sunlightmurdock - (bradley bradshaw x reader) 1980's roman literature prof x virgin student - no need to know top gun. katie's work is another entry in the 'feels like it stands really strongly separately from the source material' category. she has multiple ongoing AU's that I really love, but this one is a favourite. i think she does complex characters really well - their actions always feel intentional, and as flawed as they are, I always love them.

Wouldn't it be Nice by allyoops - (m/f captive A/B/O) if you aren't reading original works smut on ao3 you are missing out and allyoops is a great place to start for noncon, dubcon, age gap, taboo etc. enjoyers. they have a ton of works; usually one shots with lots of really delicious dynamics and different settings and tropes.

An Intoxicating Presence by FormerlyIR - (mob a/b/o haladriel) MOB. A/B/O. HALADRIEL. picks up with Halbrand in prison thanks to undercover FBI agent (and his mate!) Galadriel. does that sound crazy and awesome? well it is. mix it with Gal's internal struggle, the added complication of omegaverse, and overall great writing. really fun and really damn good.

civitas terrena by banalityofweevil - (darklina) angel Alina on an exploration of love in immortality with fallen angel Aleks. honestly, it's just a must-read for enjoyers of writing. incredibly creative with divine (literally and figuratively) imagery. i think one of my comments was on the precision of lulu's diction and I really stand by that.

tinsel into gold by ribbonedhare - (darklina) ddlg and cnc friends, this changed me. it is so warm and soft and my god, is it good. just scrumptious.

I didn't know what kind of "travel between universes" you meant. Like... multiverse, different fandom worlds, isekai type. Also traveling like a magical girl? Science-fic tech? I decided to focus more in the yandere-ish characters post-Carmen (my reference to the Opera), I was listening Habanera Carmen while writting.

Female Interdimensional traveler reader scaping Yandere! Uppermoon (+ Enmu and Muzan)

Warnings: Mamga spoilers, Yandere character, Excesive use of violence, Threats to reader, Mentioned non-character demon death, One-sided feelings (not from reader), No happy ending for demons, Reader is moraly ambiguous.

Enmu:

Sleep. You should sleep, dream by his side so he can build a paradaise all for you. He can't understand why you fight him, but Enmu is willing to try as long as you give yourself to him. "I promise to be nice, you will have everything you could want and I will have your body well taken care of. Why would you deny us both such a wonderful future? Can't you see everything about me aches for you?" He doesn't shut up, sometimes you wonder if he just loves the sound of his own voice. Anyway, you were planning to leave already, so you reach out to open a portal to- "Sleep."

You manage to open the portal before the sound finishes to reach your ears, making you fall through the interdimentional leak as you close your eyes. Emnu can only look at the scene, not fully understanding what is hoing on as your body fades into... something, and that something dissapears the second you crossed it. Taking you. "Hey... Y/N.... my lovely girl this is not funny." He tries to reach you nerviously.... you are asleep, he himself made you sleep, yet he can't feel you. Wherever you are, he can't get you.

"You have to be kidding me. What is this? Some kind of nightmare?" He has a nervious smile that becomes everytime more forced, wrenched, to every second it passes and he can't even feel you. Are you awake? Are you dead? Where? If anything had to happen to you he wanted to be there! Now you are gone! "Y/N.... Y/N, darling? C'mon, don't do this to me. I love you...." but you are gone.... are you planning to come back for him?

Gyutaro (ft. Daki):

You left.... you fucking left... you fu- "Onii-chan?" Fuckfuckfu- he can't. He has to control himself, he can't show Daki how bad he is feeling, how desesperate. But you were just there, he was watching you and now you are gone. Were you burned? Why would you be burned? Why is that the first thing he- "Onii-chan!" He hugs his sister, burrying his face in her shoulder. He is not crying, no tears shed from his eyes, but he is sobbing hard. You are gone, you are gone!

Of course you are gone, anywhere else better than with a freak with him, right? You never wanted him! You nev- "Gyutaro?" Shut up shut up shut up SHUT UP SHUT UP- "GET LOST YOU STUPID WHORE! GET AWAY FROM MY ONII-CHAN! HE DOESN'T WANT YOU!" But you know that is a lie, Gyutaro does want you, right now he is breaking up, shattering down, just for you. "Gyutaro?" You repeat softer, getting closer to the demon almost squirming into his sister's, his everything, the girl who sees him almost as a father, embrace. Obi sashes come out her back, moving threateningly, as she hugs her brother protectively, hatred in her eyes as she looks for you.

In the end, he speaks before you or Daki can. "GO AWAY! FUCKING GO AWAY! YOU WILL LEAVE ANYWAY! LEAVE ME ALONE! DON'T- DON'T FUCKING COME TO ME ONLY TO ABANDON ME LATER!" You are too much, you have already taken his heart and head. What else could you possible want? He can't stop thinking about you, wanting you close, obssesed with the idea to be yours when you will only leave. He sobs harder as you step closer, get out of him! GET OUT! GETOUTGETOUTGET- "DON'T YOU DARE!" You fade into a portal, the same which you always use, before Daki can hurt you, leaving her to patch together her brother, again, only to ruin him when you come back, AGAIN. "Onii-chan...."

Gyokko:

You absolutely have no taste, you would stay if you did. Who gave you permission to leave?! You should adore having Gyokko's attention, for hin to share his art with you... and yet you don't appreciate him. Not enough, you should love him more. Wouldn't that be more fair? He loves you too much for you to not love him back, don't be so selfish- "Would you stop that! You are getting on my nerves!" You have been trying to enjoy this universe, but Gyokko has been harrasing you non-stop.

Showing you desfigurated human bodies, telling you what you should and shouldn't want, getting angry on the slightlest of things. Really, why have you not left yet? "I'M getting on your nerves? You have no idea with how patient I have been with you. You should be thanking me for taking my precious time on you, only for you to be such an ungrateful brat?" Really, what is wrong with him. "You know what, I'm leaving. I'm done." You reach out to open the portal and just stop having to tolerate Gyokko. He tries to stop you, tries to hurt you, but summoned too late the pot. Much less the attack.

The face twists in rage due the humiliation, HOW DARE YOU?! YOU WRENCHED WOMAN! The next time he'll see you he will kill you, you won't even have the pleasure of being a work of art! He will just rip your eyes and tongue off to burry them into the mud! He will stab and poke you again and again and again, letting you starve until you kill yourself of the pain! A death with no beauty or dignity! The death of a witch! ..... that if you ever come back, because right now, you are just enjoying the jump in between universes.

Hantengu Clones:

"SHE IS MINE, YOU PIECES OF SHIT! BACK OFF!" "NO FAIR! I SAW HER FIRST! SHE IS MINE!" Sekido and Urogi are fighting each other, citting and stabbing limbs, using their powers on each other, Karaku being the only one sane for once in his life, trying to stop them. He is the least jealous of the clones, probably the only one who doesn't mind sharing. "GUYS! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT SCARING HER OFF! Y/N IS GOING TO GET AWAY IF YOU KEEP LIKE THIS! That or Aizetsu is going to get her first..." Yes, Aizetsu is alredy into it, using his body to block your path away.

"Y/N, please. Don't leave. That will make Sekido mad and Urogi feral, they will take it out on me. Please don't that to me, you're making me sad." He looks scared, miserable, he doesn't want you to leave. But he is also using that to try and manipulate you, he is doing it on purpose. You know it and honestly, you are getting tired of their little scenes, their jealousy, their violence, their delusions, their tricks... You. Are. Done. You were about to open the portal when you feel two hands, one on each wrist, from behind with a breath on your neck. "C'mon, pretty thing~. Don't be like that, I know some of us can be scary, but we can all make you feel good, even if the others don't look like it."

The breathing stops when Sekido staff stabs him through the skull, forcing him on the ground. You were startled by the splash of blood over you, but you take the chace to run as you open the portal. "AIZETSU! DON'T LET HER SCAPE!" The sad clone does try to stop you, but it's too late, you are already gone. ". . . ." "AIZETSU, YOU USELESS PIECE OF SHIT! WHY DID YOU LET HER GET AWAY?!" "Y/N! Y/N! WHERE IS SHE?! WHY DID SHE LEAVE?! I MISS HER SO MUCH ALREADY!" "PLEASE STOP SCREAMING AT ME! CAN'T YOU SEE I'M SAD?!" "..... I hate being the sane one...."

Nakime:

How? Just how? Nakime has been looking for you, but you are nowhere in the Infinity Castle. You are not in any room, in any corridor, any fall.... it's impossible for anyone got get out without her noticing, then why are you not here? She even looked outside her fortress, nothing, "Nakime-chan!" Nothing until you decide there is something interesting around.

Nakime just looks at you, not knowing well how to start, she spends a time like this, and you have no idea if it's more creepy like this or it would would be worst if her hair wasn't covering her face, you can feel her stare on you neither way. "How did you do that?" Is the first thing she says, going to the point, not caring for formalities. "Do what?" You tease, you know well what she is asking, she can tail, so she doesn't insist, doesn't give you what you want, making you pout a bit. "You are a grown woman that managed to scape my Demon Blood Art, and yet you pout in front of me." She is angry. What are you doing? How are you doing it? Why does she lose control when it comes about you? Her interdimentional realm.... is it even anything for you?

But she must have you, she must. Her whole body aches for you, or is it just because of what you can do? She can't stop thinking about it, wanting you caged in her corridors and rooms, not letting go, so you are hers and hers alone. She.... likes you, a lot more than she ever liked any man. "Nakime-chan, I will leave if I get too bored." She plays her Biwa, knowing it's useless to use her powers on you, she just plays to entertain you until she figures something out, if there is anything to figure out.

Akaza:

Please don't leave. Please, don't leave him, he can't- if you leave- you have to stay. Stay, please. "Please, I'm begging you. Stay. I.... I will protect you, I will take care od you, promise. I pro- please, please, don't do this to me." Akaza begs, grabbing you by the waist, holding you tight, digging fingers into your clothes. It's taking a lot of him to not cry. Why do you want to leave? Did he do something wrong? Is he not strong enough? "I promise to get stronger! To be there! To protect... I want to protect you, please..."

If he is not there what will happen to you? Hung by the neck. Poison in the well. Death death DEATH. What will happen to him? There is nothing left he doesn't care, just needs to get stronger because if he was strong enough to begin with it wouldn't have happened. Why are you always trying to leave? He sobs as you pull alway but lets you move him at will. He wants you to be safe, to be happy, to be healthy. He wants a life with his wife, the life he was promised! Where is that girl he loves with his whole heart?! A part of you can feel Akaza, while obessed with you, with the idea to protect you and take care of you, has already given his heart to someone else, a woman that it's not you.

You are nobody's second choise or consolation prize, you can't take him and don't want to. "I'm sorry." It's the only thing you say, feeling nothing but pity for him, as you open the portal and leave. He just lost another woman in his life a woman he didn't get to have as his wife. What is it left, why nobody he cares about ever stays for him? Everyone always leaves! "... Hah-...." Can you hear it? He is screaming at the top of his lungs, voice cracking and breaking as the sound of the pain of a 18 year old man who lost everything but his fists twice explodes into self-loathing and anger for the world, just wanting to be found again.... can you hear it?

Douma:

It's odd, very odd, how you can just dissapear the way you do. What is more odd is that Douma usually likes odd things, viewing them as entretaintment, but now... he doesn't like it. He can tell that much. It's very weird how his stomach twists, his chest compress in itself, his throat tights up and his head hurts everytime he thinks on the fact that you left somewhere he can't find you, and he can't do anything about it. Why? He really can't understand it, but he is not enjoying it, you should stay besides him forever, so his body can behave the same as always.

"Y/N! I see you are back! How have you been? Come here, tell me everything. I am a good listener, I'm sure you will feel comfortable." He is not hiding it, what is there to hide? He justs knows he wants you, the rest is... unkown, and it doesn't really matter, it never did. He can't feel anything, but right know he knows he needs you with him. Maybe he should eat you? You are quite a beautiful lady, he bets your flesh would be tender and tasty against his mouth, and in your stomach you would be always with him. But he would miss a lot if he did it now, seeing your faces, hearing your voice, touching your skin or clothes, smelling your scent. It would be a waste but didn't he think that same with her?

He will find a way, eventually, to keep you around. Now he can only show appreciation for the fact that you came to visit. The fact that you are still coming back to him. He will give you all of his attention, find your weakness and get what he wants. He may not look like it, but he can be patient when it matters. It just has never mattered before, maybe it doesn't even matter now. "It was fun to see you again. Bye, Douma!" You fade away and he can only stare.... that portal should have been his stomach.

Kokushibou:

You are finally out of his life, THE WHY ARE YOU STILL IN HIS HEAD?! WHY? It's been a while since you just... evaporized of this world, he knows.Kokushibou has been looking for you, actually looking for you, not the "I'm searching" he always gives Muzan off, but actually tried to follow you like he tried to follow his brother, no wonder he also failed this time. GET OUT OF HIS HEAD! HE DOESN'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT YOU! HE WANTS TO FORGET YOU! You are gone and that is good, out of his life, out of his system, out of his internal demons, out of his- "Koku, is that you?" ...... he turns around slowly to find you standing there....

No.... no, why are you here? This... is this some illusion? A dream? A nightmare? Why are you getting closer to him? Why are you trying to talk to him? Can't you see he doesn't want anything to do with you? "Why, as talktative as always!" You shouldn't be here. You shouldn't be talking over him, as if you were another man instead of a woman. His wife never did such a thing, she was quiet, elegant, filial and dutiful and yet he left her like you will leave him. Is this his karma, then?

He can't react, in any way possible. His breathing stops, his heart races, his head and chest hurts because of you. He wants to walk away, to be the one to leave you and reject you instead of the other way around. To save pride? His mind? Why were you even born?! He hates you! Hates you so much! "So, how have you been?" But he can't bring himself to walk away until you fade again.... he hates you so much, you have become everything to him. Like Yoriichi.

Muzan:

Another demon just died, their own body attacking them. It's not weird, Muzan doesn't even like most of his demons anyways, so more often than not he kills some of the lowlives around when he is having a tantrum sensitive moment. "Why haven't you found her already?!" He asks Nakime, who only sighs before getting the Uppermoons inside the castle, not yet here, and shrugs a little. She doesn't understand it neither, he send his most powerful demon, including her, to look for some human. A woman with scent, identity, living in his memories, unlike the flower.... why has nobody found you already?

"Hey, Muzan!" You appear out of nowhere, making both Nakime and Muzan turn around, shocked. This is Nakime's special dimention, how are you here? Why are you here? Can't you see what you are doing to the Demon King? Can't you see how your actions affect the people around him? Do you even care? It's just one small world between the amount of universes you have traveled through. "Y/N. Where were you?" His voice sounds kind, if not slightly irritated, he hates not being in control, loathes it. And he can't control you, yet, he tells himself. But he will.

Maybe that is why you came, to tease him, because it's fun, because you think he deserves it. "You know. Over here, over there, a lot of places. I just came by to say "hi"." Nakime looks nervious, looking at her master, wondering if she will be instructed to cage you. "Well, that doesn't matter. You are here now. Why don't you stay-" You don't. You leave as he speaks, dissapearing in front of his eyes. You can see his false calmness twist into rage, frustration, desesperation as you go away. Isn't it fun to make interdimentional trips with between yandere?

i have less than 24 hours left before i have to go through one of the most stressful days of my life so. heres a list of my fav radiostatic fic recs in no particular order

clarification: by radiostatic i mean fics where vox is 100% not the dom in the relationship. most of these dont contain explicit sex though, and im not recommending any straight porn fics here because you can easily find those with a click and search through the bottom vox tag lmao

most of these fics are unfinished, so be warned that i will not take accountability if you get attached to these without them being finished properly. in fact ill just laugh at you because then we'll be suffering together

notes: LONG fucking fic. like this guys almost 700k words long fic. one of the best things ive ever read in my life though and it has a plotline thats frankly more engaging than the actual showing of hazbin on amazon. so. you know. if you have the time to read it Please do you wont regret it

Unraveling Emotions by Xaelei

notes: one of my favourite fics ever on god. started my brainrot for dad!husk, portrays one of the most scrumptious radiostatic dynamics and is generally so very well written that i might end up trying to recreate one of the scenes in comic form. genuinely in love with this fic and im so glad i can say i was the first comment on this fic because my God its such a treat to see new chapters drop for this. unfortunately i havent had the time to write out a detailed comment as of now but if someone wants to let the author know that im still in love with their fic and will continue supporting it until i drop dead go ahead for me

Safe with Me by rillyrillo

notes: the prequel and main fic of this series is human radiostatic, though the sequel is set in hell. it comes with gorgeous gorgeous art and frankly one of the most exhilirating endings ive ever had the pleasure of witnessing play out. i recommend you guys check out their other fics too, the art continues in them + their radiostatic is written wonderfully across all universes!

A Month of Rut by Vylad

notes: this fic is very self indulgent to me. i love the way radiostatic is written in this one because theyre very soft and sweet, but others may not prefer it if theyre looking for freak4freak radiostatic. if you just want something to indulge in and relax with at the end of a heavy day though this is my #1 rec. i read this sometimes when i find myself crying at night lmao

notes: made me sob like a baby. 10/10 no notes whatsoever read it for yourself because you WILL not regret it. i genuinely am always at a loss for words whenever i reread this because it is among the most gutwrenching but beautiful and poetic works that ive ever read and i think it deserves some recognition

notes: again, to reiterate, i do very much dislike the abusive!staticmoth portrayal i see in a lot of fics. but in this one... it's written so perfectly, i can definitely see it actually happening. i enjoy the way that val does still seem to care about vox, albeit in his own twisted way that eventually breaks and fractures their love and trust, and its just. Ugh. So fucking good

notes: this one is like those time regression manhwas. you know, the ones where the protag goes back in time and proceeds to try and avoid everyone who made their life miserable- only to fail because for some reason now they're paying attention to them more than they would have had they stayed the same person. its certainly very promising, though! i do love indulging in time regression stories, especially when the mc is someone i love like vox. i really cant wait to see which direction this one is headed in :)

The way people are focusing on "My fav Gojo is not racist, he's just ignorant" and "Gege really hates Gojo he made him racist" when it was not even the point of that interaction. The point was to educate and talk about some stereotypes about black people that are harmful to the community and, if you look into it I'm sure you'll find has it origins in slavery.

Besides, Gojo is privileged and comes from an old money family, and it looks like he isolatehimself from others. Of course, it's in character for him to say stupid things like that. Even if he strives for change.

Yeah, everyone is so pressed that their fave is being problematic (which honestly Gojo has always been, he's hardly a saint and he treats many people quite shitty like for example Utahime and Ijichi) that they miss the bigger picture of this. Given, I think there are better ways to get that point across, but the aim here was definitely not "look at what a uniquely bad person Gojo is, I want to make readers hate him" it's for readers to reflect upon themselves and their own biases, conscious or not. Gojo is often being a dick to people, Miguel included, but this wasn't it. He wasn't just being annoying as usual, he made a misinformed statement rooted in racism "black people are naturally stronger/tougher/more resistant" and he got told off for it, which actually led to him apologizing. He expresses bigoted views, that are quite common all around the world and can lead to real harm like for example medical discrimination, but people often don't question or even notice that they have these views. I think exactly because he's such a fan-favourite character, Miguel calling him out and Gojo admitting he said fucked up shit is important.

Gojo might make a trip to Kenya to meet Yuuta, but unsurprisingly doesn't have any real black acquaintances and the one black person he knows a little better doesn't like him because he treats him like shit, an expandable tool (given, Miguel did try to help someone do a genocide so it's not like him working to make up for that in principle is a problem, but Gojo is not just treating him badly because of that) and has dismissed him and his culture as a whole. Gojo's racism towards Miguel didn't come out of thin air with chapter 255.

No wonder Miguel wants him dead.

You could say Gojo's racism and ignorance got punished before as this powerful cursed tool he so casually dismisses here together with its history could have gotten him out of the box much earlier. If he hadn't gone out of his way to destroy part of Kenyian sorcerer's culture because of his fear that it might be used to hurt him, he might still be alive. This chapter the payback was just more direct, Miguel was given the space to push back and not just get beat up (making in the previous moment Gojo seem like the righteous cool guy, seen by how the fandom reacted to their fight) and he also didn't sugar-coat it and straight up said "you're being racist".

The fact that Gojo apologized, something quite rare for him, and didn't defend his uninformed views or mocked Miguel for questioning him also shows that a lot of this comes from unaddressed biases, irrational fears and having lived a sheltered life in terms of being exposed to other cultures (and actually valuing them) that influence his judgement. He's not trying to be maliciously racist, but he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about and why it is harmful. I don't think he revelled in destroying other people's culture, he was just driven by a base fear, but that doesn't make the harm he caused any better. He's never had any reason to engage with black people on a personal level and that has unsurprisingly led to some ignorant opinions about them. Again, a very common sentiment which Gege uses Gojo to highlight. This is clearly reflecting arguments and talking points Gege has heard themselves and tried to address here. I'm sure there are all kinds of wild racist takes about Miguel on Japanese social media, I know the English side has them plenty.

I think the message Gege wanted to send was executed a bit clunkily by for example still tying Miguel's CT to rhythm (replacing the inhumanly strong black guy stereotype with another common one) and putting the burden all on Miguel to educate the people around him. Similarly, having only one (explicit) black person in the manga who has to then explain anti-black racism to the reader makes it feel very forced. I think you could've avoided a lot of that and included these topics more dynamically by giving us more background on Miguel's technique and how he came to it and comparing it to cursed technique's of other Kenyan or African sorcerer's. Another option would be making Hakari for example Black-Asian (or Todo or Yaga). He has a darker skin tone than the other characters and differently textured hair (which would already lead to him having to face a bunch of bigotry in his everyday life) and he is hated by the conservative higher-ups. So actually do something with that and address it.

Even Japanese people who are merely slightly tanned get harassed. Just being from Kyushu or Okinawa, somewhere where it's much warmer and sunnier and therefore not being as pale as the average person in e.g. Tokyo will get you plenty of derogatory comments, especially if you're a woman. That goes extra for indigenous people like the Ryukyuan or Ainu who not only face prejudice because of their appearance but also legal discrimination because of their origins and challenge the very popular notion that Japan only has one ethnic group and one language. Japan still struggles with a lot of racism internally against their own people, so you can imagine that it's even worse for anyone who newly immigrated or with parents who immigrated (in the best of times you will always be treated as a foreigner no matter how well you speak the language or integrate into the culture simply because you look "different"). It has gotten better in recent times, but it's still a problem, as Gege pointed out in this chapter.

Coming back to Hakari, we would also be able to see through him how jujutsu society treats black-identified Japanese sorcerers, which would be a different perspective from Miguel's who only visits Japan occasionally and mostly operated outside the system until Gojo came along. Black people aren't just something distant overseas, they are also Japanese citizens. You could show if and how jujutsu society differs from regular Japanese society. Most likely they are even more behind as they also discriminate against what kind of cursed technique you have (modern or one based on a long bloodline, which would automatically work against anyone not born in Japan and with a long family history there). You could also combine it with the transphobia Kirara faced and generally show how this system fails young sorcerers who don't conform to their norm.

But yeah, sorry Gojo is not perfect and will fall into the same stereotypical and bigoted thinking as many other people who rarely step outside their narrow homogenous social circle. Like you said, he's privileged with old money and family history who pride themselves on their bloodline. He's generally very narrow-minded about things that don't interest him or he sees as irrelevant like how he doesn't bother to understand Maki or has no problem ignoring a starving child on the road (who cares what happens to Hana, she's weak and Megumi is the strong one, he's who matters here and deserves to be lifted out of poverty) and international sorcerers fall under that as well. There are so little of them so it's okay to ignore them, why should he bother reaching out or informing himself about people abroad, he's never gonna interact with them anyway. If they get too dangerous for his taste, he's just gonna slap them around a bit and take away their sharp toys.

Honestly, I think what Gojo did previously is worse than what he said this chapter. He can learn to check his internalized racism and be more mindful of how he talks to Miguel or black people in general (he shows openness to criticism and improvement here), but he can't bring back Black Rope. It falls to Kenya's sorcerers to recreate it, which will take decades. They'll feel the impact of Gojo's actions long past his death, even when he can't say anything ignorant or racist anymore.

So I don't think this ruins his character, was done by Gege to make Gojo fans feel bad, or meant to keep anyone from liking him. He has character flaws and that is fine. He gets challenged on them and receives push back for them plenty in the story. I can understand that some fans feel bad reading the chapter, hearing Gojo regurgitate talking points they might've heard said against them as well, but it's not really Gege's fault for addressing this very common issue.

Author Love Letter - Scarlet

Folks, definitely chime in you want to add stuff because a lot of folks have probably met Scarlet in different contexts!

Also it's like 4am here so my spag and everything is going to be pretty bad. Sorry about that.

Scarlet, @givereadersahug on Tumblr and emeraldlove on AO3. Powerhouse of a human, brilliant multiship and multifandom writer, moderator, fest runner, community builder, absolute role model. 0% drama, 100% love. People first always. The Queen of giving without expectation.

We were like talking about having a Rec Fest sometime back in March 2023. Of course I was 100% talk 0% action. But Scarlet actually got a lot of great folks involved, started the fest, got comods to help out and literally just made it happen. That's a good TLDR intro: Make Things Happen Behind the Scenes. Like an iphone or something. Scarlet behind the scenes = it was going to work 100% without problems.

When I think about Snarry fandom, like any big and old fandom we have different folks with different strengths/contributions. Great writers, artists, podficcers, organizers. But it's pretty hard to find somebody whose first priority is making the fandom thrive because we are fans/fan creators, pretty attached to the stuff we are doing, we have time limits because fandom is a hobby and we have to prioritize between creating and community building a lot of times. Scarlet really said Community First, People First. I don't even know how to explain it but 0% transactional vibes.

Making space for people. Meeting folks where they are at. Obviously introverts have a hard time in communities sometimes. Some folks learn how to handle it. No judgment here because these experiences can be subjective. But I have seen Scarlet go the extra mile for folks who are new/introverted/feeling imposter syndrome/going through some complicated fandom experiences. Just being there for them and supporting them to get started.

Also a brilliant writer of darkfic!!! Scarlet's darkfic shorts are some of my all time favs because of how dark/delicious/intense they are. These fics really give me 2000s dirtyhotbadwrong vibes because of how totally out and proud they are about their fiction is not reality vibe. Tons of range and lots of genres but the darkfics get my special love because they are just dirtybadhotwrong shameless amazingness. Check out In His Bed to get a sense for that unique vibe! Her community building and cheerleading wins are huge but also her darkfic writing is some of my all time fav.

Also Queen of Attention to Detail. I have read some fests with her and she guessed authors just like that during anon phase. Just incredible observation Sherlock Holmes style.

My fav fest memory is doing Snapecase reading with her. She guessed the author for Candles Lit Against the Dark, @perverse-idyll based on the title because she noticed/connected a lot of the flame/shadow imagery in the author's other Snarry fics. I am pretty good about guessing some authors myself because I can identify their style but guessing from the title is advanced superpowers. I can't even!! So extra, Scarlet. So totally extra and I love love love <3

Another fav memory I have is about analyzing fics with her. When HotD was airing eldritcher's Ossuarium was being written episode by episode. It was an insane time. We had a brilliant time analyzing those fics :D We were both passionate but Scarlet was so extra passionate, noticed tons of detail that was totally lost on me, really good at connecting the dots, just a hardcore close reader.

Also dead dove fics! 100% supporter of folks writing dead dove, incest, darkfics.

Also reccing older fics! Her Dudley phase was insane and she was finding fics from like 2000s on wayback just like that with some superhuman skills. On like websites I didn't even know existed. Really Sherlock Holmes <3

Also smaller fests. Scarlet supported a ton of Dreamwidth fests and got new folks to join them/introduced them to Dreamwidth culture and literally was the bridge between different types of fandom culture a lot of times.

Also reccing fic! Her recs for For I Have Found Salvation by @lumosatnight and also for @wilfriede's podfics have so much love/passion/enthusiasm and I just love those works 2x because of the emotional connect of her reccing <3

Also nwhiker! I really got into this author's Snack fic, Second Life because of Scarlet's passionate, passionate reccing. When Scarlet got into something the reccing happened with big big love and for me that was like the best thing ever because folks who love things with big love are just super special <3

Also my concrit buddy for movies. Ingmar Bergman to Audrey Hepburn to Past Lives just a total knowledge wikipedia about movies/movie making/movie meta/movie crit. I really changed my perspective about movies after learning from her. Also shows! Watching HotD and doing episode reviews with Scarlet is like one of my best memories ever ever ever <3 Also books!

Also moderator of Snarry discords like @houseofsnarry, participated, started and ran a ton of communities and fests including the @hprecfest which is just finishing this week <3 <3

If I have to describe Scarlet in like one word I am going to say Connection. 100% about connection, 100% heart led. So special. Love, love, love.

(omg kalis user jason todd means filipino jason todd— okay yes ik it's a kris and that talia gave it to him and that a kalis is longer, sword length, but let me be delusional for a moment)

fanon and ao3 would have you believe that dick would be reaming bruce out for his behavior in batman: under the hood. it is a delight to rediscover that though dick remains #1 batman arguer, he has not done anything of the sort in regards to how bruce has treated jason's return.

i lied in the post title, btw. i actually have only one main thought about this run.

i have a proposition to make, batman fandom: dick is actually more wary of Jason then bruce is.

i think—dick heavily dislikes jason for always being able to uncover the old wound. i think as someone who's been there since the start, has seen bruce through his best and his worst, cannot stand this grinning spectre upending all the progress bruce has made with his grief. and! i think a part of dick has always felt unsettled that even he couldn't completely heal that grief. and the one person who could do it (he thinks), the one person who is against all odds alive to do it—what does jason do? he needles the wound open. he won't let it rest. he beats up dick's little brother. he sows chaos all over gotham and dick's new city. he saw bruce drown in the self-destructive depression for years and the one person who might have helped ease it in a way no one else could is too busy cutting a bloody swath through various cities.

i think, also, that this—detachment, if you will, is aided by the fact that dick and jason did not know each other as well as they might have. jason was taken in after bruce fired dick, so nightwing was still taking off solo. they have been able to connect and dick and jason have very cute interactions pre-ditf but it's a drop in the ocean compared to dick and tim's relationship.

there is also, i think, a disconnect between robinjay and red hood jason—his little brother died with robinjay, and whoever the red hood is is almost a stranger

He's someone from a long, long time ago. Black sheep of the family, as it were. His name is Jason Todd. He thinks he's me. This may sound crazy, but... he's supposed to be dead. Twice over.

"from a long, long time ago." and like i said, there's this almost detachment from dick, no (positive) reminiscence of jay's robin days. i do think that dick, wrt jason, is mostly unrestrained by past sentiment—or at least he's better at separating that sentiment than bruce, who although tries to remain objective in his chase against red hood, is also notably shaken, to the point that jason was able to force his hand & drive him to panic, leading to half-thought, panicked decisions that a level-headed batman would not have made (as i think we are all in agreement that bruce would not actively decide to disarm his son via batarang to the throat, especially considering his no-kill rule.)

there's more i'd like to say, but this is most of it—i don't want to drown the dash with batman rambling, but im asking yall to consider it. think about how delicious this dynamic is!! there's so so much to explore!!! and i think it really hammers home just how much the world has changed during jason's death & disappearance 🫣

a final aside before i end this post:

JASON: My God. Is Nightwing there? Imagine that. One son returns from the grave as another enters it... what a fitting ending this has become.

idk if my description of this makes any sense i just can't put it into words so imma do the lyrics and try to explain further.

"GET IN MY WAY AND TRY TO BLOCK ME IMMA SHOW AGRESSION" this could be towards a person or himself. I'm not saying chris is money hungry, he's just about his bag. he wouldn't like for anyone, including himself to get in the way of making his dreams come true and if they do, i think he gets a bit hostile. it could be him cutting them off, or simply just distancing himself for a bit. if it's himself i think that's when he gets sad and beats himself up. he said it in a few videos that he becomes hard on himself, or he gets sad before bed and i think that's why.

"GOT NO REGRETS, I MADE MISTAKES, BUT I LEARNED FROM MY LESSONS" this lyrics speaks volumes for chris!!!! i feel like it was said by him that he doesn't regret things he's done in the past or experienced, but he's glad he's learned from them. i think all of them are big on "life's a lesson, learn from it." he doesn't dwell too much on the past, it's done and all he can do is move past it and learn to not make the same mistake with people or opportunities.

"DON'T BE ACTING STARSTRUCKED EVERYTIME THEY SHOW YOU LOVE." this could be towards friendships or relationships. it's no secret LA is full of fake people but it's honestly everyone at this point in time. i think chris realized that at some point. just because people smile in your face and act nice don't mean the friendship/relationship is real. people always want something, and its not always love, it could be sex, money, and or fame. it doesn't surprise him anymore. i think that's why he stick to who and what he knows, especially in the relationship sense.

holes fandom IM BACK AND TODAY ILL BE DISCUSSING THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BOOK AND MOVIE I LIKED AND DISLIKED

(future me, after writing this, it’s a lil weird i yoinked my name from zero but whatever he’s so gender so don’t mind that)

-1. first up, the things they didn’t have in the movie, my 2 fav scenes. the first one was when they’re on the mountain, after finding water—the flowers petal scene. in the book, zero is asleep, stanley is awake and watching him. there’s a good few paragraphs dedicated to stanley pretty much admiring him. basically for those who don��t know, there’s like a flower petal on zero’s face that goes back n forth as he breathes and Stanley notes that it’s like smth out of a cartoon. after a few MINUTES it falls and Stanley basically thinks “I wanna put it back but.. it wouldn’t be the same.” also he describes zeros face as “being lit in the moonlight” and if that aint romantic idk what is. THE MOVIE, MUCH TO MY DISMAY, DID NOT HAVE THIS.

-2. when they are walking back to the camp, they’re being stubborn lil bitches and are trying not to be the first to drink any water. their argument gives “you hang up first, ‘no YOU hang up first! 🤭” vibes. THE MOVIE ALSO DOESNT HAVE THAT AND I C R I E D

-3. however, the movie also has things the book doesn’t! for one, stanley thinking abt how he’s glad he’s on this mountain w zero, while in the book he’s just thinking it, in the movie him and zero are discussing it and it is so cute and fghkfjdjhdihbdhibdhibehibdi help

-4. also, the little things; in the book, after Mr. Pendanski says “nobody cares about hector zeroni” that’s kinda the end of the chapter or something. BUT IN THE MOVIE stanley walks in right after he says that, looks him dead in the eyes, and says, “I do.” and that broke me

-5. Another little thing—in that scene where Stanley gets his nickname of caveman, the the book, I don’t remember hearing from zero during that (I could be wrong tho). but, in the movie, as Stanley seems like he’s in a dangerous position, zero grabs a pool ball off the table (it’s implied that he’s gonna hit the guy antagonizing stanley) but after the situation cools down, there’s a shot of him putting it down. im telling you ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS AND THIS SCENE IS SCREAMING

-6.? idk if I misremember but in the movie they bring up like “damn Stanley, zero will only talk to you” and idk if that’s mentioned in the book or not but I don’t think so, the fact that one of the characters points it out like 2 or 3 separate times in the movie tho..

-7. the ending… pool party in the movie, boring normal ending in the books. end of story.

honorable mentions, both ONLY in the movie:

-I SQUEAL EVERY TIME I WATCH THE SCENE WHERE THEYRE OPENING THE CHEST AND FINDING OUT ABT THE MONEY AND THE.. THE WAY STANLEYS LIKE HOLDING ONTO ZERO AND JS MESSING WITH HIS HAIR?? I CANT

-also WHEN ZERO IS REUNITED W HIS MOM. Stanley is just standing there and admiring him I KNOW IT.

summary/tldr;

while some of my fav scenes from the book aren’t in the movie, the movie is SO much gayer and I love it so much and it’s the little things that bring me joy. they are so gay for each other in the movie I cannot even put this into words.

also zero def has a big gay crush on Stanley like immediately that’s just canon to me
