We All Have A Hunger
by through_shadows_falling
T, 56k, Xicheng, background Wangxian
Summary: Jiang Cheng was dying. The healer was just one of many who’d arrived at the same conclusion—they had no idea how to break the starvation curse ravaging his system. At first, Jiang Cheng had been furious, but as the weeks passed, profound relief washed over him. He'd never realized how tired he was. The thought of closing his eyes to rest and never having to wake up again seemed…peaceful. A quiet end to a life of anger and bitterness and guilt. It was more than he deserved.
Mojo's comments: Nice story. The beginning is filled with angst: jiang cheng is dying but also glad to die, because he's tired and lonely and hopeless. His sideways (plausibly deniable) attempt at suicide before the starvation curse kills him fails… and now he has to face the consequences. Healing is a slow, long, bumpy road with many false starts and regressions. But he slowly gets better, healing himself, his relationship with wwx, and, surprisingly, helps lan xichen in his OWN healing journey. He and LXC become friends and then, slowly, more… both states of being are new and scary for jc, but the reward is worth fighting for.
angst, self-esteem issues, emotional hurt, emotional hurt/comfort, suicidal thoughts, mind healers, therapy, family issues, brotherly feels, developing relationship, character growth, character study, hurt jiang cheng, curses, starvation curse, healing, recovery, slow burn, xicheng, demisexual jiang cheng, pov jiang cheng, happy ending, the untamed canon, jiang cheng & wei wuxian reconciliation, @through-shadows-falling

#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#wen ning#wei wuxian#wen qing#jiang cheng#Truly Massive disclaimer here: I am a Jiang Cheng enjoyer. I like his character. I enjoy that he is very flawed and volatile.#This episode of the audio drama has a lot of great breakdown scenes featuring JC - and they all deserve a feature.#But underlying this comic is a small meta comment of 'ah man I have too many comics of JC just wailing sadly'#My goal is to draw 6-8 comics per episode - I sometimes have to truncate and cut good scenes out.#Especially when a large majority is just different flavours of trauma and toxic relationships to your self-worth.#I would also like to make a note here that just because you lose the ability to do something that is very tied to your core identity-#-does not mean your life is over. It will feel like the end of the world. It will send you into a spiral of grief. It will hurt so badly.#Sometimes we do not realize how tied up our identities can be in certain things until we are cut loose.#You don't lose yourself. I promise the pain will fade in time. I promise you will find other things to tether you. I promise you will be ok#Life moves forwards. Time moves forwards. You move forwards.#Ego death just means an opportunity for ego rebirth. You are never committed to being the same person forever.#To wrap this around to JC: Yeah I love the twist with the core transfer but man I would have loved to see JC accept the loss.#Obviously it happens for a reason (story) but I can have my AUs. I can have these 'what-ifs'.#described in alt text#I'm trying it out! *please* give me feedback - I want to eventually Add image ID to all of these comics one day

The Untamed - Episode 11 - Episode 15
The woman had creamy skin and was rather beautiful, though her delicate features displayed some fierceness. The corners of her lips lay between a frown and a smile - she was a natural at sneering, just like Jiang Cheng. Her flowing purple robes wrapped around her thin waist. Both her face and her right hand, which rested on the hilt of her sword, were as cold as jade stone. A ring embellished with amethyst was worn on the index finger of her right hand.
Jiang Cheng smiled as he saw her, "Mom!"
The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation - Chapter 51- Courage- Part 1
Madam Yu stared at his face. Suddenly she embraced him and kissed his hair a few times. With him in her arms, she murmured, "Good boy."
She hugged him so tight that it seemed as if she wanted turn Jiang Cheng into a baby and stuff him back into her stomach, so that nobody could hurt him, nobody could tear them apart. Jiang Cheng had never been hugged by his mother like this, much less kissed. His head was buried in her chest but his eyes were wide open, not knowing what to do.

“you are a museum of everything you’ve ever loved.” — jiang cheng, who carries his mother’s zidian, cares for his sister’s son, kept chenqing with him and held onto a promise for 13 years, and even led the sect he inherited from jiang fengmian

jiang cheng must have been so unbearably lonely after the sunshot campaign. his parents are gone, his shidi and shimei are scattered to the winds or dead, his home was destroyed, his sister married off into another clan, and his brother who always swore to be by his side is distant, seemingly uncaring, and eventually abandons him…even when JC tries to warn him it will be at his own peril. to top it off, all other three major clans have sworn a brotherhood oath, boxing (or triangling) him out. the eternal other, too young and too fierce and too bitter to fit in, who has to constantly prove himself, to a righteous Lan Xichen who can’t see his exclusion or understand his pain, to a cunning Jin Guangyao who sees no benefit to helping JC when he can help himself instead, and to a ruthless Nie Mingjue who has no time to care for a boy he doesn’t know beyond brief mentions from his little brother. It’s no wonder that years later he’s still entrenched in his pain after having lost his remaining support as well: Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli.
It’s no wonder that he cares so much for Jin Ling when that boy is all he feels he has left. It’s no wonder that he is still single, losing everyone of meaning to you would make anyone wary of loving another again. It’s no wonder he has channeled his anger to WWX….WWX couldn’t stand by and be quiet and fall in line and stay safe and live…and his actions to protest against WC, abandon his sword for demonic cultivation, protect the Wen Remnants, and attract the ire of the entire cultivation world (no matter how unintentional or based in good intentions) did end up leading to their fractured relationship, and the deaths of JFM, YZY, JYL, and WWX himself.
breaks my heart to see how desperately both JC and WWX want to be brothers at the end, but all both can see is the massive chasm of pain and secrets and betrayal and hurt between them. JC is destroyed by the fact that all his efforts to rebuild could be brushed aside by the fact that he has WWX’s core, that WWX will always be a self sacrificing idiot until the end and leave him to worry about the consequences. WWX is destroyed by the guilt he feels in sparking the ire of the Wen to hurt the Jiang family and inciting the events that led to his and JC’s beloved sister’s death.

Sangcheng week Day 2 - Music
Even with all the effort that Nie-zongzhu put into not cultivating properly with the Nie sabers, he still starts suffering from Qi deviations just like his predecessors, due to accumulated heart demons from the past decade. He vehemently refuses to be treated with the song of clarity for the longest time and only finally relents when he is promised to be held through it and kept safe by his beloved.
(this time i went with the live-action flavour because i never tried that before and it was pretty fun change actually haha)

there's a CHILD in my shrine?? WTF!!
by corduroyserpent (@crimsonrainseekingflower)
G, 2k, Hualian & Wei Wuxian
Summary: Hua Cheng: AITA for stealing an orphan off the streets and showering him with love and affection? Correct answers only. Kay's comments: Despite the funny title and summary, the fic itself doesn't belong to the "crack treated seriously" genre and is indeed serious and fluffy. Little A-Ying steals some good at one of Hua Cheng's temples and when he finds out, he decides that he can't leave the child there and brings him home instead. I love me some good Hualian adopt Wei Wuxian stories, so this one is really a treat. Really loved how Hua Cheng teased A-Ying in this story too and Hualian are cute together as well. Excerpt: "That doesn't belong to you,” Hua Cheng said casually as he stepped out into the light, the chains on his black boots jingled crisply as he moved. The owner of the hand flinched. It was attached to a child, malnourished and unbathed. He held the piece of dried fruit he’d swiped to his chest with an iron grip and quickly hunched his shoulders to try and make himself appear smaller. A reflex, an instinct clearly born from past experience. Hua Cheng was intimately familiar with the strategy. He leaned down to get a good look at the kid. Unbound hair covered big intelligent eyes. He was probably adorable underneath all of the muck that came from living on the streets. Hua Cheng assumed if the boy had a good home, he wouldn’t be starving enough to steal old fruit. “Well?” Hua Cheng prompted. “What are you waiting for?” The child tilted his head and gave Hua Cheng a strangely genuine smile. Like it was all he could think to do. It contrasted with the scared glint in his eyes and the white-knuckled clench of his hand. The boy carefully unfurled his fist to offer the fruit to Hua Cheng, putting on a good act of hiding how much he desperately didn’t want to let it go. “Here,” the child’s voice was hoarse when he finally responded. “Sorry.”
pov hua cheng, canon divergence, tian guan ci fu fusion, hua cheng/xie lian, crossover, wei wuxian isn't adopted by the jiangs, fluff, hurt/comfort, angst with a happy ending, homelessness, food insecurity, orphan wei wuxian, hua cheng, xie lian, tgcf, hua cheng & xie lian adopt wei wuxian

Jiang YanLi, “I’m… I’m here to tell you…”
To tell him what?
That it’s fine?
That I don’t hate you?
That everything is fine?
That I don’t blame you for have killed Jin ZiXuan?
It was impossible.
But she couldn’t say anything that was the opposite either.
[...]
Suddenly Jiang Yanli's eyes opened wide. Her hands conjured up an explosive current of strength from nowhere and pushed Wei Wuxian hard!
Wei Wuxian was pushed onto the ground again by force. The next time he looked up, he saw the gleaming blade of a sword pierce through her throat.
The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Chapter 78
"With his left hand, he [Jin Guangyao] whipped out another string and attacked Wei Wuxian! Jiang Cheng's pupils shrank to become just a point. With a flip of his wrist, he turned Zidian's direction to defend against the guqing strings."
The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Chapter 101
"You did all the best things, and yet every time you do the worst ones, it's involuntary! Forced! With some unspeakable grievances! Grievances?! You told me nothing, you played me for a fool!! [...] Can I not hate you?! Why is it that now it's like I am supposed to have wronged you?!"
