All the letters for Luci have been answered now, so here's a post compiling them all together!

White’s Houses, 7-12

Hello, everyone! Thank you so much to all of those who have followed this series; I’m glad people liked it. I hope it was informative and fun, and again, if anyone ever wants to use that information for any purposes like fanart or fics, let me know because that would be super cool to see! I want to finish White’s deep dive before I properly start Yellow’s chart (although I’ve already made some notes), so expect Yellow’s next but not for another couple of weeks at least because I want to properly dust off everything to do with White.

Seventh House: Capricorn

From here onwards, we focus on White’s outer world, rather than her inner self and inner environment. Here, we look at how she connects to this world and to others, particularly partnerships (not necessarily romantic, but partnerships of any kind), contracts, and cooperation. As it’s in Capricorn, she’s someone who is serious and dedicated when it comes to her relationships, and she would prefer, at all times, if her relationships were well-defined and sturdy, even as she may come across as cold or distant sometimes. This is because she’s cautious with her heart. Although this is great for a long-term view and especially in business, it can take the sweetness and spontaneity out of love. Yet, these are all attributes we can subscribe to her relationships in general, not just romantic love. In business, with family, friends, and dating, she’s always looking at the long-term.

When she has relationships like that, she can have connections around her that are trustworthy and supportive. In return, she will develop a strong sense of responsibility to the relationships in her life, particularly in wanting to create a safe space for them, nurturing them in that way. She’s very eager to take on a more emotional role in long-term relationships. White puts up a front professionally, feeling she holds up society and her family, so she actually wants to take a step back and allow someone else to take charge in her relationships in the sense of being taken care of. Once she’s able to find that balance, she’ll find a relationship that is loyal, dedicated, and steady.

I think this will help her overcome a lot of emotional wounds that she’s developed over time. Moreover, there’s an Aquarius degree here, meaning she’s looking for something unique, forward-thinking, and innovative, which isn’t a surprise. In her relationships, I think this is definitely something that aligns with her personality and something she would need anyway in order to have a close bond with someone, due to her mix of traits and experiences- her unique qualities and traits would naturally lead to unique relationships.

Eighth House: Aquarius

Here, we come to the instinctual parts of life, such as rebirth and transformation, sexual energy, and even shared resources. With this being in Aquarius, White is likely to find and define her independence and unique intellect within the hidden or darker aspects of life. In her finances, this may be a problem, as she takes an unconventional approach to joint finances and what she invests in. She may like to play around with her finances and take big risks on a whim, which may or may not work out for her, depending on the situation. Yet, this is also emphasised by the Pisces degree, as this is all about connection. Not only to others but to herself; the areas that come under this house can be extremely important for her development, as well as her spiritual journey. Learning to connect to herself first is the key to effectively connecting to others.

Ninth House: Pisces

In the house of expansion, growth, adventure, and belief systems, we have Pisces, making White someone whose philosophy is likely to be emphasised around the imaginative and mystical parts of life. These philosophies are of the highest importance to her and she applies them to her daily life. She may enjoy stories of the supernatural, so would enjoy fiction, mythology, as well as exploring altered states of consciousness, meaning that she’s most likely spiritual or religious, something that’s emphasised in other parts of her chart. Yet, despite this, she may be a little fuzzy on her worldview, what exactly it is, and her thinking may be too far out of this world to actually guide her. She’s always thinking beyond, which means her philosophy is not always based in reality. Once she applies her understanding and experiences from her spirituality to her outside world, she’ll find it’ll help to solve her problems.

Her ideal adventure would actually be when she gets to journey into herself, or when she gets to travel to a place of incredible beauty or stillness, or just being able to lose herself in something big and immersive. Despite that, she isn’t the type of person who wants to travel often and she may feel drawn to staying in places near water. With Aries in the degree here as well, we see that she’s creative here. She’s willing to explore, in a very direct and active way, these different philosophies, these imaginative and mystical parts of life, and she’s willing to go out and explore these adventures she really wants deep down, and she’s willing to be creative in how she does that.

Tenth House: Aries

White’s house of authority, career, public life, and societal roles is in Aries. This means she’s someone who’s likely to have an active and fiery professional life, who likes to take charge of her destiny, and who likes to be in positions of leadership, as she’s very comfortable in the spotlight. She’s someone who thrives when she gets to engage with her initiative, as well as show feats of courage in her career- the type that really impresses others and makes her look flashy. This is because she’s naturally energetic here and brings a sense of fun, due to her passionate nature. Moreover, this ends up leading into her wanting to lead projects and providing enthusiasm to others as they get the work done. This can work to her advantage, as she isn’t the type of person to be steady in her work motivation, so having people around her who are happy to provide the details whilst she provides the more public and encouraging tasks would be good for her.

Ultimately, White puts herself in a contradiction. She likes to be in the spotlight, to be in charge, to be the main voice, but she isn’t the type of person who can do the work herself, due to her attention span, lack of motivation, and impulsivity in her decision-making after the initial burst has worn off. Therefore, she has the right public persona to be a leader but not the type of leader who can do the hard graft. She would actually benefit from letting other people lead. From this placement alone, it suggests that she’s the type of person who can be hard-working and driven once she figures out what she wants and I believe this is somewhat true, but with her chart overall, I actually think she would benefit from finding a career that allows her to be a bit more scattered, to find a role that suits this part of her, as that’s not going to go away, even with some more balance in her life. She’s only as hard-working as she wants to be and the question is whether she wants to be. White needs to find a job that she’d be endlessly curious about, one with a bit of diversity.

However, as she has a Taurus degree here, she naturally attracts abundance, particularly materially, so, despite these challenges, she’s the type of person to thrive anyway. This might mean she’s someone who always manages to work it out one way or another, but it also means she’s potentially the type of person who takes the credit for other people’s hard work behind the scenes, and doesn’t always give them any verbal or material reward for that. Either way, she would benefit from more balance, despite the natural abundance she attracts.

Eleventh House: Taurus

Here, we arrive at themes surrounding humanity, group dynamics, aspirations, and hopes and dreams. With it in Taurus, White is someone who wants the community/society around her to be slow and stable, a place where she can feel grounded and that she feels is reliable at all times. This is backed by her Eighth House where we see she doesn’t like the idea of a fast-changing society or environment around her; it makes her feel unsteady. As she shows elements of being excessive and spontaneous within herself, I think it’s important for her to have a place that is the opposite of that and if it moves too quickly, she’ll end up feeling disoriented or uneasy. Some of her aspirations for humanity and for society is about increasing a sense of security, particularly materially.

Like her other placements, we see the value of community and beauty emphasised. She really just loves spending time with her loved ones and feeling she has solid bonds with those around her. Again, the idea of connections over superficial or material aspects is emphasised here- she likes the simple things in life. Coming to the last house, White’s is in Gemini, and we see themes surrounding hidden strengths, endings, transformation, and spirituality. She’s endlessly inspired and curious about this aspect of life and finds much depth in exploring her curiosities and ideas here. White likes to find answers because, to her, this area of life is captivating, though sometimes confusing for her. There’s some themes in her overall chart saying spirituality is good for her, that she also loves to explore darker sides of life, but not all of spirituality is heavy and dark, it’s light and inspiring. Okay listen anon. LISTEN. This is going to be LONG. Did I immediately rewatch/go back through the entire wrap up to take notes? YES I DID. Anon I'm sorry this is so late, I didn't see your ask until after the stream. I hope this finds you (*＾3＾)/～♡

Caleb fucking Widogast. Liam O'Brien always creates/portrays characters that CAPTURE ME. And it is purely the undertow of SUFFERING that I crave.

As a survivor of an abusive childhood, specifically with manipulation, neglect, and physical trauma, and having a controlling abuser in a position of power over you - I was surprised and delighted by Liam's playing of Caleb, and I'm sure that I'm probably not the only one, but Caleb's backstory just had me nodding along. Was not surprised at all by what was revealed about the blumentrio's relationship being trauma-bonding and probably why I'll never be an avid shipper of them. Nothing about Caleb's backstory left me gasping - because it's a relatively common abuse survivor story, except it's in the world of dungeons and dragons with high fantasy and magic and more common place murdering than today in places where most Critters presumably live.

Let's break it down.

Caleb was born as Bren to a less than well off family, who wanted their child to have a better life than them. Bren is a gifted child, and this will immediately put a bullseye's target on a child's back, make no mistake, for abusive persons. Now, I don't know if it's a pretty obvious that parents would trust in a teaching figure to take their child for that child's betterment, because I don't have parents who wish for my betterment ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, but I like to think that Bren's parents handed him off hoping for his brightest future.

Trent is basically the textbook example of a Cult Leader. Beyond the experimentation he did on his students; everything he put the Blumentrio through is how you beat down and brainwash people, especially children/adolescents. Textbook. TEXTBOOK. It was the dnd equivalent of the Hilter Youth. Now my personal experience featured the tool of isolation, so I didn't have two childhood friends to pour myself into and have threesome's with, but that's actually smart of Ickythong, because when you're left alone with your whirling brain for too long, and there's no one to hold over your head - we start thinking those rebellious thoughts, and at some point we decide we have nothing to lose, and we will do ANYTHING to shake that control. No, he left them in that abandoned tower together so they would be forced to bond with each other, as well as allowing them not to die of exposure alone.

Trauma-bonding CAN be a manipulation and used against you. Now. We have three adolescents trying not to freeze to death by being as close as physically possible. For those that don't know; sharing body heat works best skin to skin - ya get naked and THEN you wrap up together to stay insulated. Awkward groping is going to happen, and it's more than likely accidental. But when you add raging hormones to the mix, yo it's not going to stay accidental for very long (that in no way indicates non consent, it can be either way), and the feelings can catch hard when you're young and physical and EVERY HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP YOU HAD HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM YOU, IF YOU EVEN EVER HAD ONE. (I do not know Eadwulf or Astrid's home lives so your guess is as good as mine. We should probably ask Liam)

So you've got horny teenagers, with above average intelligence, being systematically abused... Bam. Trauma-bonded Blumentrio.

BUT HERE'S THE THING. Trauma-bonding can only get you so far. And they are children, actively being raised to NOT HAVE THEIR OWN THOUGHTS AND IDENTITIES. The relationship they built, the romantic and sexual, are based off of a shared hostile environment and survival needs. And when those circumstances are no longer there, the relationship tends to fall apart.

I love that Matt talked about Astrid for a bit, sad we didn't get more on Eadwulf - but Matt didn't really spend a lot of time roleplaying Wulf compared to Astrid, so he'd have more insight into her. I also find it interesting that the Blumentrio took 3 very different, but again SO COMMON, paths in dealing with their abuse. But that's a different rant.

Focus with me now on what Matt said about Astrid. She was actively seeking power throughout the campaign, looking always to climb that ladder to the top, for her own purposes which were not stated, and was willing to do anything, sacrifice anyone, to get that power. Was it a burden to her? Yeah I think so. Did it weigh on her? Again I personally think it did. But she was goal-oriented and she wasn't going to let anything stop her, not even herself, and she hated Trent. Matt implies that all three of the Blumentrio did/do. Astrid, Wulf, and Caleb were wildly different people - I don't think they would have stayed together even if Bren had stayed Bren instead of becoming Caleb.

I know A LOT of people were miffed over how Liam and Matt showed Caleb's and Essek's love for each other; and I am SO glad that Liam touched on this; Essek reminded Caleb too much of Astrid and Eadwulf. Now I know we love to joke that that Redhead Dirt Wizard has a Type (smart, ambitious, vaguely amoral), and believe me I LOVE THE JOKE, but Caleb pumping to brakes on Hot Boi makes THE MOST LOGICAL SENSE AND I WAS SO DELIGHTED WHEN LIAM PLAYED IT THAT WAY. Caleb was still trying to heal himself; WHY THE HELL WOULD HE JUMP INTO A MESS CALLED ESSEK? That's some mf UNHEALTHY, TOXIC romance trope ya got there. People fix themselves, not each other. THAT'S WHY CANON SHADOWGAST IS SO GOOD. THEY ARE WORKING TO IMPROVE THEMSELVES FIRST. THAT'S SO HOT.

Ahem.

So the Blumentrio hangout in Astrid's room to sex and study, in threes and twos (I have weird polyam questions, Liam). Now, I'm foggy on the exact timeframe that was together at Academy > kill your parents > Bren is chucked into the Sanitarium; but it's clear that after the murdering of parents, Bren is tagged as the "weakest link" - maybe he broke because he actually loved his family/had a loving family, maybe the manipulation spell from Ickythong didn't sit on him as well as Astrid and Wulf, maybe boi wasn't made for killing (a lie, the boi is a total killer, you have to be in most dnd campaigns), who knows. But he broke, and Astrid and Wulf handed him over - it would be dangerous for them if they tried too hard to protect him.

Because in that environment, in those circumstances, in that set up; you do what you have to, to survive. You hurt people you love, you hurt people you don't know, you even hurt yourself if it means improving your own odds. It's instinct. It's not your fault. You are doing the best you can with what you have available.

I don't hate Astrid and Eadwulf; I just have more emotional attachment and investment in Caleb, and prefer the color purple on him.

Which is actually a great segue into THE WOMAN AT THE SANITARIUM WHO FREED HIS MIND; Matt Mercer you beautiful man, thank you for giving us a Moonweaver connection, my lil widomauk heart was sent aflutter! So, here's the thing. Places like that, sanitariums, psych wards, etc - if you are not certifiably insane before you go in, you will be eventually. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is not a fucking joke. But the thought of some forgotten Moonweaver Cleric recognizing Bren's torment and just, poof, dissolving that spell? *Chef's kiss* glorious, wonderful, everything I needed.

Wei Ying couldn't say that this entire scenario was how he would have liked or imagined things to go. Unfortunately, life rarely cared about what you wanted. More often, in his experience, life was looking for a good way to fuck you over. So when his relationship with Lan Zhan went down the drain, it was only to be expected that it was at the very moment where he didn't have the finances to move out and get his own place. And seeing that the apartment they were living in was actually Lan Zhan's, he couldn't exactly kick Lan Zhan out and stay.

So between the threat of homelessness and Lan Zhan's all too gentle offer to let him stay in the apartment until he had found his own place, the decision had been an easy one. Of course he would take Lan Zhan's offer over ending up on the street, regardless of his personal feelings! Luckily, the apartment was large enough that each of them had a private room, so they could stay out of each other's way if necessary. Otherwise this arrangement would have been way too awkward.

Jiang Cheng kept repeating that exes still living together was weird as fuck, but Jiang Cheng had no romantic experience and therefore no idea what he was talking about. Wei Ying and Lan Zhan had been friends long before they had ever become a couple, and they would find a way to get back to that relationship and stay friends forever. Even without romantic entanglements. Eventually.

It wasn't like they didn't get along well, after all! They were very used to sharing the housework, and Lan Zhan would still sometimes share the food that he cooked with Wei Ying, who always gratefully accepted any opportunity of not having to cook himself. Wei Ying, on the other hand, knew how to keep Lan Zhan's white laundry a pristine white by now, and he would feed little Hei and Bai whenever Lan Zhan was busy. They really worked quite well as roommates.

Or they would have, if there only hadn't been the pesky little fact that they had been lovers until a short while ago. The problem with being roommates, and being in close proximity to each other all the time, was that it was hard to break certain habits that they had established while living together as a couple. Wei Ying frequently found himself tempted to hug or kiss Lan Zhan whenever he was in his proximity, or found himself craving his support or affection when he was feeling stressed. Those obviously weren't things that Exes were supposed to do, and Lan Zhan shouldn't have to take care of him now, after they had separated. He was probably getting impatient to get rid of Wei Ying once and for all.

Now that Wei Ying thought about it, this whole situation was really bad for Lan Zhan. It was his home, after all, and if Lan Zhan wanted to bring someone home, wanted to date or even sleep with someone, this new person would be greeted with Wei Ying hanging around the apartment for no reason at all. It would just be supremely embarrassing for everyone involved. Obviously, Lan Zhan couldn't bring anyone home as long as Wei Ying was still around. So Wei Ying had to stop making a nuisance out of himself and remove himself from the situation.

He thought about how to do that, but considering that he didn't have the money to move out, that mostly left one other avenue. (Asking Jiang Cheng to room with him was absolutely out of the question, Jiang Cheng the traitor had made that pretty clear already.) The answer was using a dating app, of course. He just needed to find someone to date that came with a big enough apartment that he could move into. And then he would be out of Lan Zhan's hair.

Wei Ying had never used a dating app (after all, Lan Zhan and him had known each other long before they had ever started their romantic relationship, and there had been no one else), so he needed some time to figure out how dating apps even worked, and how to figure out which dating app was the right one for him.

The process was really annoying, though. There was so much he needed to do, add information and mark preferences, before he even got the first suggestions! And when he did, he rapidly learned that he really needed to curb his own expectations drastically. Few men could be called tall and handsome, particularly when compared to someone like Lan Zhan, and even the, well, not particularly attractive ones were hardly ever willing to cook for a partner. There were quite a few cute women, but inadvertently, Wei Ying found himself looking for someone a little... taller, more elegant still.

The ideal person should be funny, but not a clown. Confident when it came to voicing their opinion, but not overly assertive or overbearing. Able to deal with a teasing and the occasionally rowdy relatives. Affectionate. Good with animals. Culturally inclined. Not too much of a party animal, he was past that age by now.

These requirements were, apparently, almost impossible to meet, and the selection was accordingly difficult. A lot of people were superficially attractive, but checked none of Wei Ying's requirement boxes. Other shared Wei Ying's interests, but he still found it hard to build a connection with them. And then there were the people who just solicited him for sex. Those were often kind of creepy. And if he was honest, if he just wanted a good fuck, there was a Lan Zhan right here, whose abilities he knew only all too well.

(Not that he would ever do that. He didn't think Lan Zhan would ever want to sleep with an ex, and even if that was no issue, Wei Ying wasn't sure if his own already questionable emotional state would be able to handle that.)

He dithered around while using the app half-heartedly, not really able to settle on meeting any of the people he had talked on the app in real life. He wasn't sure if he really like anyone well enough to be ready for that commitment, and he wasn't sure if he was making good decisions, with his biased view.

But then he remembered that lived together with the possibly most unbiased person ever, and that he could always count on Lan Zhan's objective opinion. So, one day, he went to Lan Zhan and presented him with some of his potential choices, and let Lan Zhan study their profiles for a little while.

A short while later, the feedback came exactly as expected.

"This person is a workaholic and will not take the weekend off to be with Wei Ying."

"She spends all her income on luxury brands, be careful."

"This man is biphobic, Wei Ying."

The reasons were manifold, but always very reasonable, and Wei Ying found himself very grateful to have a friend like Lan Zhan. That left him only with one problem, however: he ended up pursuing none of the potential relationships any further, and was no closer to removing himself from Lan Zhan's apartment than he had been before. And that had been his primary goal, after all.

So his redoubled his effort to find a suitable new partner that would pass all possible hurdles. And then, almost by accident, he found a man who seemed to be his ideal type. He was tall and muscular, not ugly, but he often looked sceptical in many of the pictures he had uploaded. Still, he seemed to be a caring man with good friends and a good relationship to his mother. He knew how to cook, and when Wei Ying went out on a limb and contacted him, he was friend and respectful, and sent exactly zero unsolicited dick picks. All in all, this man seemed to be a good choice.

When he showed his newest choice to Lan Zhan, however, Lan Zhan looked at the profile for several minutes, put the phone down, and said simply, "No."

Then he turned around and walked away. Which was, for Lan Zhan levels, really, really rude.

"Lan Zhan?" Wei YIng cried, running after him. "Lan Zhan, what the hell?"

When he caught up with Lan Zhan, just before Lan Zhan could disappear into his own room, Lan Zhan levelled him with a flat look, and said, "I do not want to know."

"Don't want to know what?" Wei Ying asked, confused.

"Whom Wei Ying wants to share his life with," Lan Zhan replied, his answer clipped. "It is not me, so I do not want to know."

"Wow, Lan Zhan," Wei Ying gasped, actually feeling a pang of hurt blooming in his chest. "Is that really how little you care about me now? I just wanted to make sure I don't accidentally go on a date with a serial killer, and your answer is that you don't care?"

Lan Zhan looked at him as if he was an idiot.

"You broke up with me, Wei Ying, and now you want me to help you find someone else? That is too much to ask of me."

"You broke up with me, Lan Zhan!" Wei Ying shouted, getting more confused by this conversation by the minute. "What the hell? The least you could do is help me find a way to get out of your hair for good!"

"I never broke up with Wei Ying."

Lan Zhan's voice was quite, unlike Wei Ying's rather hysterical tone, but there was a sense of intensity in his words that made Wei Ying swallowed the rest of the tirade he had been gearing up for.

What the hell was Lan Zhan talking about, clearly he had been wanting to get rid of Wei Ying for a -

Wait.

Wei Ying looked at Lan Zhan again, really looked at Lan Zhan. He looked at the slight shadows under his eyes that showed that he wasn't sleeping well. He noticed the slight droop of his posture, which Lan Zhan would have considered unforgivable at any other time. The exhaustion dimming the shine of his beautiful, beautiful eyes.

Lan Zhan definitely looked stressed, and Wei Ying had thought it was because he wanted to get rid of Wei Ying; the sooner, the better. He had thought that Lan Zhan had stopped caring about him, and that Lan Zhan was happy to-

Lan Zhan had said he had never broken up with him. That was not how Wei Ying remembered things.

"Lan Zhan?" he asked with a small voice. He already felt tears prick in his eyes, both out of hope and sheer terror, the possibility of having his heart broken once and for all.

It couldn't be true, but Lan Zhan- Lan Zhan looked so- he looked so sad.

"Lan Zhan?" he repeated once again, and his own voice cracked. "Do you want to date me?"

Lan Zhan looked at him in silence for far too long, and Wei Ying felt the tears spill over.

God, he was so stupid.

But then, Lan Zhan said, "There is only Wei Ying for me. There has only ever been Wei Ying. There will be no one else."

And Wei Ying was in his arms before he even knew what he was doing, sobbing like a toddler that had just scraped his knees on the playground.

"Why did you break up with me then, you stupid fool?" he blubbered.

"I thought Wei Ying wanted to break up," was Lan Zhan's answers, which was all kinds of non-acceptable.

(He was slightly mollified by the way Lan Zhan's arms found their way around his waist without hesitation, though.)

"Why would I ever want to break up with you?" Wei Ying wailed. "Lan Zhan is the best! Why would I want anyone other than Lan Zhan? No one else can even compare! Have you seen the people on that dating app?"

"You seemed quite taken with that man," Lan Zhan observed rather resentfully, but when Wei Ying lifted his head to give him a trashing, he caught the impish little spark in Lan Zhan's eyes.

"You!" was all he managed to say, flailing for a moment before he remembered how to pull Lan Zhan in and give him a long-overdue kiss.

"Don't tease me, my heart is broken."

"There is still time to contact him."

"Lan Zhan, I swear, if you don't-"

He didn't get any further than that, however, because Lan Zhan picked him up, pressed him against the door of his room, and kissed him in earnest.

Two months later, Lan Zhan presented him with a neat little box, and in that neat little box was a elegant, silver ring that fit perfectly on Wei Ying's finger.

"This should should serve as a good reminder the next time you doubt whether I want you by my side or not," Lan Zhan said, the cruel man.

But he also gently kissed Wei Ying's temple and took Wei Ying's hand into his to admire the silver sparkle on Wei Ying's finger with the most happy expression that Wei Ying had ever seen on Lan Zhan's face. So Wei Ying deigned to let the tease slip.

There would be an opportunity to get back at him, after all.

As soon as his own neat little box had arrived, that was.

How would the adult trio handle their s/o having post partum depression after giving birth?

Hisoka

Hisoka wouldn’t know exactly how to act when first noticing there’s something with you (which would be soon, giving his perceptive nature) because it’s likely that he has no clue of what is going on. Yes, he may be good at reading people’s emotional states, but this is more connected to his fighting skills. Even if it isn’t the case with you, well, it doesn’t mean he can understand what the problem is with no basis or information, per say. He is perceptive, not a mind reader. Likely, he’ll first consider this one of those “woman things”, maybe an effect of giving birth or of the months you spent carrying the baby…

An idea he’ll soon put aside. Many times, people may not realize at all that someone they live with is suffering from depression. Hisoka? Possible, but doubtful. And yes, living with someone who is depressive(no matter the sort) might be complicated and Hisoka will be frustrated,but more because he’s sensing that there is something wrong, something is harming you and he can’t figure out exactly what it is.

While there is the chance Hisoka will figure it out by himself (especially if he heard about post-partum depression, like while you were pregnant), if he doesn’t, then he will either try being subtle whenasking about it and, if that fails, he will be way more direct (read: Sitting with you, looking you in the eyes, and asking what is happening). If you can’t answer (because even you isn’t sure of how to explain it) or don’t want to, Hisoka will have two reactions: Doing some research himself or dragging you to a doctor (the first option seems preferable to Mr.I-Can-Deal-With-Everything-By-Myself-Because-I’m-A-Lone-Wolf, but the moment he figures things out, well, fine, he will get his coat. Hisoka isn’t dumb enough to dismiss something so serious like that).

However things go, it remains that Hisoka won’t just sit back and watch your condition get worse, though. Anyone else, he wouldn’t give a damn, but we’re talking about you, someone (perhaps the only one) Hisoka loves. Maybe he isn’t the best when it comes down to taking care of someone else or offering the necessary support this condition demands, but hell if he won’t do his best. Surprisingly, due to Hisoka’s view that it’s only “the two of you” (and the baby now) and how perceptive he can be (well,now that he knows what is happening), his actions would really show he’s therefor you. It’s not in his nature to ignore facts, so he won’t act as if the depression will just heal itself or go away.

Would he be perfect in this situation? No, because no one is. But he would try, enough so most people would actually be shocked,considering Hisoka is… Well… Hisoka.

Illumi

Look, Illumi is not a great person when it comes to matters of the heart, so his ignorance may make him seem cold towards the issue. He might notice that you’re depressed (or at least, that something strange is going on, depending on how you act), but even if he does, well, it will be one of those times when his sort of logic doesn’t help the situation: The baby is healthy, you’re together, everything is fine… So what reason could you have to be sad? He may even say something insensitive, but it’s not out of malice (not that it helps): It’s pure ignorance.

That doesn’t mean Illumi will keep this behavior once he notices you seem to be having bad days lately (or things get bad enough that it ends up being noticeable even to him). Offering comfort is not his strong suit, but he will try to discover what is going on and how he should help you. He may take you to the doctor, believing that you caught some illness (well, one might say that you did).

Another possible scenario is that his mother might see what is going on (or anyone else who knows about post-partum depression) and tell him, as this isn’t a matter of “weakness” of any kind and not something a person just “gets over with”. A brief explanation will be enough for Illumi to do some research of his own.

In this case, whether he will talk to you about i tor not will depend on your personality, but again, this is Illumi we’re talking about it, so it’s hard to say how much this may help or not. He will, however, try to help you on his own first, even if he’s a little unsure of how to do it (again,matters of the heart are not his strong suit) so he may try asking his mother for some advice. However it goes, he will try to be more understanding of the issue. Neil Abraham Josten‘s Birth Chart Analysis

Neil is a never endingly entertaining character, to read about and analysis. As a self proclaimed astrologer I've taken up the task of reading some of Neil's birth charts to better understand our beautiful Junkie. This might seem like a waste of time to most people, including myself, but I have no life and I need divination intuition practice.

*Note: the information we were given about Neil’s birthday is he was born January 19, 1988 in either Alexandria, Virginia or Baltimore, Maryland. We do not know his time of birth so I can’t tell you his rising (If I had to guess: Aries?) or houses. I just go over his big 6 in this post. Nora if you see this… what time was Neil born?

Sun: Capricorn

Your sun sign is considered your core self, that’s why everyone knows their sun sign (and because it’s the easiest to calculate). Fundamentally Capricorn suns are defined by their need for structure. They are people who are very skilled and ambitious and focused on this material plain. For Neil this manifests as his fixation on Exy. When Capricorns want to be good at something they will stop at nothing to achieve this goal to the point of self destruction. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, planet of fortune, which basically means Capricorns are almost destined to go through some sort of great misfortune, normally involving money in some way. Neil's money problems are deadlier than most but it's classic with this sign. Similar to how your Moon sign represents your relationship with your mother, your sun represents your father. Fun fact about the deity Saturn or Kronos: He ate his children. Need I say more? Capricorn and daddy issues are basically synonyms. Capricorn's aren't necessarily social, mostly because their trauma leads them to avoiding people to protect themselves. They put their goals ahead of all else, including love and connection. Neil rather talks about Exy then sexuality. Some say this make’s capricorns boring but these people clearly have never met a capricorn. Capricorns might be rough around the edges, but in my experience they are great friends, even if they don’t realize it.

Moon: Aquarius

OH THE MOMMY ISSUES!!! So your moon represents your emotional self and your relationship with your mother... and Aquarius is ruled by Uranus or Ouranos in Greek myth. You thought Saturn/Kronos eating his kids was bad? URANUS SHOVED HIS CHILDREN BACK INTO HIS WIFES WOMB!!! I see this play out in how mother was highly disattached from him, leading him to respond to emotional situations in a disattached and uninteresting way. This is shown in how he grieves for Seth. Contrary to popular belief, Aquarius is an air sign, meaning they have the characteristic Air sign aversion to feeling feelings. They prefer to logic their way through situations and to use their coping mechanism to deal. Yes they have emotions but they don’t like to share them (‘iM FiNe”). In contrast with Neil's Capricorn sun Aquarius moon needs to be able to communicate. Not about feelings but about what they do like talking about what they enjoy. This leads to a personality that craves human connection but doesn't know how to ask for it. Aquarius moon people also don't really give a shit about labels. It's all semantics for them. Now here is my unpopular opinion: Aquarius placements are sarcastic and temperamental. I know I said they don’t really like to share their emotions, but I feel Anger in aquarius is a natural consequence of not sharing their emotions. TL;DR Aqaurius placements we know you use sarcasm to mask your feelings. Talk about it.

Mercury: Aquarius

So your Mercury is how you communicate with the world and your logical mind. again Aquarius is a logical air sign. These people are natural intelligence. Yes this does explain why Neil is good at math. He doesn't necessarily have to study to understand things as much as he can just get things from intuition. This explains his playstyle being largely intuitive and hard to explain how he knows things. Mercury in Aquarius people are active protagonists in their lives and do things to change the things in their lives (see him bringing together the team) as the humanitarians of the zodiac it comes naturally. Also going back to his capricorn sun mixed with his Aquarius in mercury means he physically cannot not talk about Exy and opening up about feeling’s is actually painful.

Venus: Pisces

BOTTOM!!! No but seriously, Your Venus is how you relate to people, the things you value, and your romantic endeavors. Pisces is something else really. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac giving them a spiritual, almost not their quality. They don't like large groups typically prefer smaller social gatherings. When a Venus in Pisces love you they don't have boundary (you literally can't make this shit up it's literally the astrological embodiment of "It's always yes with you") they love you wholeheartedly and when it's just the two of you it's just two souls alone in an endless universe. If this sounds like an Andriel kiss scene then good because that's the vibe Pisces energy just gives off when they're MAKING YOUR DAMN HEART MELT WHAT THE HELL!!! So like most water signs THE SAVIOR COMPLEX IS REAL WITH THIS ONE!!! Neil values sacrifice and he rather be hurt then let someone else get hurt (*cough* running away to Evermore for Andrew *cough*). Pieces will see you as your best self and likes to imagine you as your best self (Kevin and Neil both want Andrew to achieve his full potential in Exy). Venus really likes it in Pisces so pisces people are wholehearted in how they love. Basically they will love you with their entire soul and it will feel like a real life pipe dream. The only thing that can shatter this is when the other person tries to sabotage themself and their highest potential. Pisces wants the best for everyone and it hurts them to see other people not reach their fullest self. This is why that scene in TKM where Neil felt really hurt after Andrew didn't want to celebrate after winning the game and belittled Exy ment to much. More mushy gushy stuff, they believe in true love. They don't need to talk in order to feel that love. They rather just feel your souls connect on a higher level.

Mars: Sagittarius

So your Mars is akin to your Id. It's base animalistic desires. The things that make you tick. Sagittarius being the mutable fire sign is more mellow than your leos or aries. Sagittarius likes experiences. They tend to travel a lot and enjoy travel and experiencing new things. This sign is known for having commitment issues (being ruled by Jupiter) and likes to run from shit. This placement hates people who don't practice what they preach and hates to feel like they're being talked down to. They really want to try new things with you, be it traveling to new places or trying stuff out in the bedroom. Speaking of which… I mean they will try anything once. Definitely adrenaline junkies. The sign most likely to be down for a threesome. Also associated with the hips and thighs so definitely an ass man

Physical Affection With - Orange Cassidy

this might become a series

First, let’s just throw it out there that he’s going to want to be in contact with you all the time; he doesn’t exactly talk a lot, so he’s going to be very dependent on physical sensation to remind you of how much he loves you

If that’s not your thing, or if you only like being touched in certain ways, then he’ll absolutely respect that

But if you don’t mind? He’s always gonna be touching you in some way

He has his limits, of course, but that’s mainly when he’s upset (and even still, it’s more of him only wanting a certain kind of physical affection than wanting none)

He definitely uses touch as a love language (especially considering how quiet he is), and it’s something that you’ve become finely tuned to pay attention to

Holding Hands

He loves, loves, loves holding your hand

It’s such a small gesture, something that he can do without causing any extra attention in a crowd or without being overwhelmingly clingy

You always find him holding some part of your hand or fingers during important moments; the way that he runs his thumb along the side of yours under the table during meetings, locks his pinky with yours when you’re standing together having a conversation, his hand squeezing yours when you’re concerned after a big spot in a match

And he does it for you too; any time that you need that small gesture of support, he’s absolutely there to deliver for you

He’s there next to you when you’re getting an important call about a job that you applied for, when you’re meeting someone that’s really important to you or him, and he’s going to be holding your hand the whole time

Hugging is definitely something that’s more reserved for emotional reassurance as opposed to physical, but it’s still something that’s somewhat common, considering his job and its inherent risks

Bonus: you hugged Trent and Chuck once after they won a number one contendership match and Orange lost his shit. He thought it was so cute to see you being excited for his friends, and he absolutely told you as much when you caught a moment alone later that night

Kissing

He’s honestly a little worried about kissing you at first; he’s oddly worried that he’ll be bad at it, so he definitely prefers other manners of affection

But the first time you kiss him? He gets addicted

It was after his rematch with Chris Jericho; he’d come backstage so excited from his victory (although, as usual, he didn’t show it), and he’d found you before doing anything else

You ran to him and hugged him, but in your excitement, you stopped thinking and let your lips touch against his

It was a single second, no more than a peck, but you were still super embarrassed

You were alone, sure, but you knew that was the one thing he hadn’t tried to do and it made you worry that he didn’t like it

It wasn’t until he’d lifted your chin with his finger and kissed you back that you relaxed, letting your fingers barely dig into his bare shoulders as he took your breath away

After that, it became much more common; proper mouth-to-mouth kisses were still reserved for only the biggest things, but he became a lot more comfortable with that area of affection

Kissing your cheeks becomes a normal thing for him; he absolutely loves to give you little pecks across your face, hands, and shoulders when you’re alone, a gentle reminder that he loves every inch of you

Like I mentioned earlier, he likes to hold your hands before you fall asleep, but he also loves kissing your hands in those moments!!

He’ll take his time, letting his lips ghost along your knuckles, your fingertips, your wrists

Sometimes, if he’s feeling particularly romantic, he’ll press his lips against the back of your hand, letting it linger until you turn into a giggling mess

Kiss his nose and he’ll McFucking Lose It™

He loves when you kiss him in general, but when he puts his hand against your cheek, you can just turn your head and kiss his palm and he’ll melt

Basically, kissing is something super personal to him. He’ll very rarely kiss you in any public setting (including in front of Trent and Chuck), but when you’re alone, he craves that contact like it’s caffeine

Bonus: after winning his first title, he got so excited that he kissed you in the ring. Like, fullstop, lips locked, proper kissing. You were so shocked that you honestly came close to passing out.

Cuddling

I feel like he loves to cuddle you; he’s generally a kind of lazy person, and laying down and sleeping are some of his favorite things to do. So, why would he not want to do them with you?

He also likes how much of you is available to him when you’re cuddling; he can just lay there for hours, letting his hands rest on your waist, your hips, your back, shoulders, face, hands...you’re in the perfect position for him to have your whole body within his reach

Loves spooning you!! He loves having your back against his chest, your hair tickling his face as he buries his face in the crook of your neck

Definitely spoons you while you watch Vine compilations together

He also adores it when you’re laying together, face to face

He’ll pepper your face and shoulders with kisses, telling you every little thing that he loves about you in between until you’re both exhausted, barely capable of keeping your eyes open as he mutters total nonsense that you’re sure means everything to him

If you fall asleep in his arms, he will spend hours laying with you even if he isn’t tired at all so you can rest peacefully

Cuddling you is his comfort of choice when he’s upset; he prefers to hold you in his lap, stroking your hair as he lets out all of his problems and concerns that he hides so deeply from everyone else

And you hang onto his every word, offering advice or consolation when necessary

You rest your head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat around what little he actually says, letting him ground himself in your presence

He finds those moments to be so serene, letting the entire world fall off of his mind as he only focuses on the physical feelings of your body against his, the emotions that come from having you so close to him overwhelming his brain until you’re all he can even think of

Bonus: you two once fell asleep in his dressing room after a match; you felt so embarrassed the janitor had to wake you up before they closed the arena for the night, but Orange didn’t care at all (he actually just tried to turn over and go back to sleep)

Miscellaneous Things

Oddly enough, he loves taking baths with you; it’s never anything sexual, he just loves feeling your bare skin against his, the privacy of the moment settling like a mist around you

Knowing that he’s the only person that you trust to see you like that is something that he cherishes more than almost anything else on the planet

Speaking of which: He! Loves! Bare! Skin! Contact!

Whether that’s just barely linking fingers, his hands resting on your waist under your shirt when you hug him, or letting your legs tangle with his while you sleep, he absolutely dies whenever he feels your skin against his and he doesn’t really know why it means to much to him

He’s just a sucker for you: obviously, the emotional support and love you give him is the most important thing in the world to him, and the way that the two of you can express that connection without any words is something that, as a man of notoriously few words, he’s always grateful to have

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

For Matt, being affectionate is as natural as breathing. You can’t call him over-the-top, his love is immature like he just got first teenage crush, and therefore it is difficult to predict his thoughts. In the beginning, awkwardness can slip through accidental hands touch or misplaced kisses. He giggles a lot to cover insecurities and it kinda works.

At the same time he tends to hesitate when things are about to get intimate. New experiences overwhelm him. If relationship seems to develop too quickly, Matt will subtly slow them down without making a fuss.

Won’t ever let his loved one go to bed in tears. It cuts him deeply as a friend and a partner to see his favorite person suffering. Of course, Matt lacks a bachelor degree in psychology, but he knows how to use active listening skills: he actually gives them space to speak their mind, makes pauses when necessary, and asks questions to hear the answers and not to simply imitate a concern.

One of the ways to show affection is to introduce loved one to his friends. We are talking not about a casual “this is name1, this is name2” but a special bond establishing, where everybody is treated with the same respect, trust, each person plays a specific role. Matt basically builds small “family” of closest people, ride-or-die gang from photos on which you see comments like “I wish I had friends like that”.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Matt is the type of friend you never knew you needed in your life. It is easy to overlook his quiet persona so you the only way you can meet him is through mutual friends during DnD session, night out in the arcade, etc.

He speaks the language of memes and irony and ironic memes, which he will send the second he sees something you would be interested in. Sharing is caring, so Matt will introduce you to anything he finds even a little bit entertaining. Friendship with this guy involves a lot of inside jokes that are completely incomprehensible to unenlightened people around.

Chill aura follows Matt everywhere he goes and you will experience its miraculous effects as well. Problems do not exist in his plan of reality, any extreme negative emotions do not either. It may be strange at first but later you crave his presence and stability that comes with it. In short, wholesome person in a grungy shell.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

The miserable situation in which person is truly snuggble (is it even a word?) but has to be in specific mood for it. Matt turns into panda, wrapping his limbs around the partner’s body, today but keeps it modest with only his head lying on their lap next day. He has a bad habit of nestling to the loved one after smoking weed so a sickly sweet smell imprints on their clothes, hair, and whatever he touches.

Without ongoing conversation, Matt starts dozing in a few minutes. His embrace turns into a bear trap, and poor soul, who was (un)lucky enough to get caught, has low chances to escape.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

I mean, mentally he is already settled down with his console and Mello? Yes, that sound like him, there’s a good chance Matt would want to have nice comfy life with the loved one. He can’t cook for shit and is an incorrigible slob but, boi, he will try to make their home the coziest nest out here. He will try really hard to be better cook and keep house clean when domesticity hits him.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Matt is a mess. His heart drops when a thought of break-up arises in the mind. He even starts to think that ghosting isn’t that cruel and there’s nothing craven in breaking-up through message. This would deprive him from the sight of them crying at least. After much hesitation, Matt will meet with them close to their house to explain what was on his mind lately. Despite how it goes, he’s filled with unpleasant feeling of betrayal.

A week later Matt will try to get in touch just to see how they’re doing. Are they okay? Are they mad at him? Do they want to talk? What if they want to stay friends? Because Matt wants to stay friends, he planned to stay close to them after breaking-up. Even if some things do not work out, Matt still wants to support them and share all the best in their life.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Seems to look for someone like a best friend to marry and won’t plan anything before he’s fully convinced in a person’s fit. It takes, maybe, two or three years for him to start thinking about proposing, though Matt doesn’t make a big of a deal of this event. His approach is very unpretentious: no restaurant date with small red box, no witnesses with cameras and whatsoever, Matt fondly asks a question while cuddling or eating ice cream out of bucket in silly pajamas. A smile never leaves his lips after they say “yes”. He probably cries on the wedding day too.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Matt is pretty inconsistent when it comes to gentleness. His laid-back nature doesn’t negate his soft side but doesn’t add up to it either, giving his behavior a touch of indifference. His comprehension of physical aspect is better than emotional because it doesn’t have such blurry undertones and can be controlled more precisely. Therefore Matt needs a bit of time to find the correct love language for a new partner and give them clear answer which one works the best for him.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Surprisingly, not so fond of hugs? He won’t ever reject them but it seems like he tries to keep small distance at the same time. You may have experienced it, defective hug when a person does not hug you in full force but also doesn’t let go. In this case, you don’t really understand the reason since person hugged you, right, they must like you to do it but ehhh. Matt takes initiative half of the times, but remember about the quality of dollar store kush.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

He says “I love you” every so often. For Matt It’s a phase used not only in romantic way but also as an expression of appreciation for your friends and family. In the beginning Matt will also say “I love you” (like he does to Mello) to make person acknowledge how much they mean to him but later its meaning shifts to more serious one and is accompanied with long tirade about his feelings. So yeah, as fast as they become good friends which may take month or two.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

On a scale of jealousy Matt scores lower than average and it takes a lot of time for him to realize someone is seriously hitting on his loved one even if another person acts pretty straightforward. After realizing what’s going on Matt will act needy. He won’t stop following his loved one and holding their hand, placing small pecks on their cheeks and giving his rival dirty look.

If he witnesses his lover acting too flirty, he won’t say a word. Only after they are alone, Matt reluctantly will try to set record straight. Relationship takes two to work, and he won’t force them to stay just for the sake of staying.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

You’ll never get bored with this goofy kisser: he is sloppy, but also gentle and sweet. Well, not that sweet since you can taste the tobacco bitterness on the tip of his tongue 99% of the time. Sometimes, Matt gets so carried away that he will kiss his loved one right in the middle of the sentence. Prefers classical lips kisses and kisses on the forehead for both kissing and being kissed.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Man, Matt can connect to little ones on the spiritual level. He talks to them like they are his equal in every way possible and from the outside it looks adorable. Teenagers need space? Good, here you go! Kids want a piggyback ride? Jump on it, he got you! Baby-toddler screams the lugs out? Mail prepared ear plugs, pacifier, and a collection of toys! Even when they are causing troubles, this guy remains very understanding.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

Night work puts both Matt’s laptop and himself into sleeping mode at 5-6 in the morning. If you are the early bird, you have high chance to find him at the dawn, with his heavy head resting on his hands. The best option is to wake him up gently and send him to the bed before those muscles get stone-stiff.

On rare occasions he goes to bed right after you just to have a major sleep-in. Nothing can disturb his sleep, not a blasting cannons, nor a nightmare, since his mind goes off and shuts down like a corrupted program.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

Let’s not talk about work days, we already know how it goes. On his free time Matt likes to stay at home and have a quiet evening with his loved one or by himself. After pizza is ordered, he jumps on the couch and lies down for a bit. If his loved one is here as well Matt asks what they want to do. His suggestion would be build a pillow fort and wait inside, chatting about stupid things. Trite, but playing video games is second option on the list. They can play together or take turns, Matt is down for anything and will definitely let them beat him in Mario kart.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Reveals facts about himself slowly, but tends to have deep conversations about things like fears, dreams, emotional experiences, even traumas. Seeing the sincere intentions of a person, he will reciprocate the effort to get to know them better. Also, when Matt is in playful mood he will play that “well, try to guess it” or “well, that’s true… or is it?” card making conversation even easier. He may have few topics like life in orphanage he is not comfortable with so he will politely refuse to talk about them or cover them with jokes.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Tibetan monks called, asked if they can book a private lesson in tranquility for their unexperienced young apprentices. This man is the embodiment of appeasement, he is good-naturedly calm and his peaceful mood easily transfers to this around him. He perceives the anger of others and unpleasant incidents as short-term events that do not deserve much of attention. When someone is mad at him he just smiles lightly, explains himself and, oh god, actually tries to get another person’s point of view.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

While his mind is always occupied with unnecessary stuff, Matt manages to remember about half of what you told him. Most of his knowledge comes from endless online chats, jokes, and memes, common interests, and (who thought!) numbers. He is especially good at remembering anniversaries and it flatters his vanity a lot.

To maintain a never-forgetting-boyfriend reputation Matt keeps in touch with your mutual friends and acquaintances. When he needs to clarify something he’ll reach to the most suitable candidate who will answer the questions but also won’t ruin surprise with their long tongue.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

The night he broke down and cried. Just sent his ps-controller flying across the room and covered his eyes, and tears started to roll down his cheeks. Soothing words of the loved one made him shake even more vigorous because the connection between them never felt so strong. Matt didn’t have to hide anything from them. There was no need to keep on a happy face 24/7. He squeezed them in his arms like there was no tomorrow and never ever forgot this moment.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Despite the wild life that was supposed to teach Matt to adequately assess the danger of outside world, he remains as laid-back as always. He assures loved one that no matter what happens he will be all right. And they will be all right too. He believes they both can just slip away from any unpleasant situation and there is no reason to be overprotective. Yes, for someone associated with Mafia, Matt feels way too frivolous.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

The exact opposite of Mello. The more time passes, the more confident he grows in his feelings and it shows in the way he expresses it. When it comes to presents Matt chooses hand-made mess over expensive shiny but lifeless gifts. His fingers are glued together and sequins on the nose emphasize bags under the eyes but it doesn’t matter. Nothing matters, actually, because Matt finally wrote their name in cursive just the way he wanted to. For the anniversary there is huge box waiting for them, filled with candies, candles, discs, photos, short notes, and every little bauble he could think of. No doubt he stands right beside the person with puppy eyes, evaluating their reaction.

Dates aren’t big of a deal. He leaves date plans up to them since he doesn’t care what to do while it is with them. If they specifically ask for Matt’s ideas he will think about it for 5-10 minutes and then suggest first thing Google search gives him. Pray to God it’s not a DIY in 5 minutes because he will try it too.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Matt has a strong tendency to justify people when they obviously do not deserve it. Maybe this is not entirely conscious, but he ignores red flags until everything falls apart. He doesn’t see a pattern here and how all these people are alike so cycle repeats again and again.

Sometimes you have to worry. Sometimes circumstances oblige you to stop brushing off your problems. That’s not a case with Matt tho. To solve problems with a sober head, cool mind, yes, this is amazing, but the keyword is to s o l v e which he may completely ignore. Being laid-back dude is a talent but it shouldn’t be taken to the point of “if I close my eyes, maybe, it will go away”.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Well, let’s say his style leaves much to be desired. I can see his closet being full of the same type of clothes in approximately similar faded colors. No patterns, no game of textures, it’s just plain. Those goggles with amber-tinted lenses are one of two pairs Matt owns. The other one is similar to famous Kurt Cobain glasses and he keeps them for ironic purpose.

Matt never used any creams even when his skin resembled tree bark. Tobacco smoke can cause dryness of lips so you can expect his being chopped and covered in small cracks.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

You cannot tell it from his face but deep down he is devastated. People notice his silent thoughtfulness, lingering daydreaming. Hours spent in games grow an alarming rate as well as his expenses on cigarettes. A lot of time has to pass by before he goes back to his old self.

If they left for any reason Matt accepts it and tries to remain their friend. He knows there should be a pause in their relationship to establish new boundaries and stop perceive each other as… lovers. But he can’t stay away.

If they died both related and unrelated to Kira case, Matt seems to disengage from everything except helping Mello and videogames. His brain freezes in white noise and repetitive actions keeping him going like a programmed robot. Months later, he promises to get well because this is exactly what they would want for him.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Matt likes to smoke devil lettuce once in a while to clear his head or fog it completely. However, he doesn’t like to drink at all. His organism reacts poorly to alcohol and nausea rises to the throat before he can feel any kaif. Once Matt made a huge mistake (read – decided to get drunk with Mello): it ended up with Mello roaming around the city aimlessly for two days while Matt was almost chained to the bathroom because… well, he didn’t feel very well. In the end of the day they suffered a small loss: Mello lost his golden chain he never really liked and Matt lost the urge to drink forever.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

There is excess of negativity in this world already so if the only thing person is going to do is to complain, he will slowly push them out of his life. Cancelling plans, ignoring massages, hanging up early in the calls and, finally, he will disappear from their life like he was never there.

Boring people. It doesn’t mean person has to be into craziest stuff, you can be interested at knitting and present your hobby as the most interesting thing in the whole universe. Problem arises when person fails to show their passion.

Arrogance makes Matt yawn. It usually comes with qualities such as duplicity, hypocrisy, and he is not buying it. He is simple guy and feels uncomfortable around those who put on a brass face.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)

His sleeping hours vary from 45 minutes to 14 hours per day and you never know what tomorrow will bring. It depends on many factors, but mostly on whether he has any work next day and if there are any upcoming games that he was waiting for so patiently.

Matt knows how to sleep anywhere and anyhow, even in standing position with hands crossed. His ability to fall asleep in 0.5 second is something Mello is envious of. Also, he can sleep with loud TV on the background, dogs barking, and Mello yelling at someone at the same time. It’s honestly a superpower.

The mere fact that somebody is sleeping next to him (it doesn’t have to be a loved one) gives him a feeling of serenity. If they sleep under the same blanket, he without a doubt will steal it.

Ghirahim and gendered expectations of sensuality

So, as people who’ve seen my previous Zelda posts might gather, I have a mixed relationship with Skyward Sword. On the one hand, I think many of its characters have tremendous potential. On the other, I feel like the game largely did not live up to that potential, and in some areas, it feels rather deliberate. But suffice to say, elements of Skyward Sword have meant that certain characters- Batreaux, Groose, Fi, and Ghirahim are not far from my mind.

A brief primer, for those who might be unfamiliar: Ghirahim is the main antagonist of Skyward Sword, and a bit of an aberration in the common Zelda formula, which tends to introduce a ‘decoy’ or “lieutenant” antagonist who dominates for most of the game and then bows out towards the end as the prelude to the true final boss- usually Ganondorf, in Skyward Sword’s case, it’s the demon god and a figure we are clearly supposed to scan as Ganondorf’s divine progenitor, Demise.

Ghirahim is quite openly a harbinger of, and servant to, Demise- where he breaks script is by being extremely proactive. We run into Ghirahim in most dungeons in the game, where he is not waiting idly for us, but doing actions that veteran Zelda players might recognize as comparable to Link’s: he breaks into dungeons either chasing Zelda, or chasing information that will allow him to proceed. We also have not one but three different fights with him, personally, and several other times he concedes that he doesn’t have time to play with Link and instead sics a boss monster on him.

The other thing about Ghirahim is, I will outright say it: He is written as a caricature of a predatory queer man.

He’s shown to be literally bloodthirsty, and presented by the narrative ostensibly as someone who has a sinister, perverse interest in both Link and Zelda, a contrast to their saintly, chaste union (which is supposed to read as a union; pursue a romantic sideplot with Peatrice, another girl in the game, and Fi will pretty much openly admonish you for cheating on Zelda, saying that Zelda wouldn’t be happy to know Link’s seeing someone and that Link should know that)

This is, really, a bit jarring, when Ghirahim’s actual dialogue suggests that he has very little interest in Link and views him much like a butler tending the master’s house while the latter is away might view a feral golden retriever that’s running loose in the place and getting mud on everything. His emotional range runs from warmly patronizing to exasperated to a truly dangerous degree (since, in this metaphor, the butler has also been tending the master’s house in near-total isolation for something like several centuries not having real conversations with the other servants and nobody’s at their psychological best in those situations even if they weren’t implicitly born and raised to murder).

Basically: that Ghirahim has no real interest in Link- not his body or appearance or anything. In his own dialogue, he seems confused by the idea that he’s at all interested, is apologetic that he’s wasting his time or dawdling and in his final scene, offers a genuinely flummoxed “you... who are you?” He offers colorful, violent threats, but when Link obstinately faces him again, he’s shown to be almost embarrassed and disgusted by them, and tries something else that almost no Zelda antagonist does: on multiple occasions, he tells Link to just walk away from the situation with what appears to be every intent of letting him go.

Ghirahim does not want Link for himself. He seems to, begrudgingly, against his own intentions, value Link as someone to fight against, but this connection does not actualize within the story- they are not really rivals. He isn’t even that deeply fond of the idea of Link’s blood, though he’s a proponent of blood as a vague concept.

Now, I like Ghirahim. I don’t think that even the read of Ghirahim as a queer man is a terrible one. But it definitely is interesting the lens in which Ghirahim’s implicit sensuality is cast. Basically, he is depicted as creeping on Link, without any real sense that he wants Link. Because it isn’t about what he wants- it’s about that implicitly he has a sexuality, and the idea of a man who might be attracted to other men is threatening, evil, and scary. Ghirahim wasn’t made queer-coded for representation’s sake. He was queer-coded to suggest he was depraved and motivated by a sinister lust. And the cruelty of this depiction is I think made immediately clear by- Ghirahim’s actual interests, passion, or preferences do not factor in here. That Scene Where Ghirahim Does The Tongue Thing is about how it is expected to make the player feel, and how implicitly Link feels.

What is Ghirahim’s type? Does he consider Demise beautiful? He makes it pretty clear he considers Link a brat. These are questions that aren’t asked, because it’s wrong that Ghirahim seems to have any sexuality at all- and, since Link is our lens and our guidepost for how we’re supposed to feel about characters, if Ghirahim behaves in a sensual manner it happens to Link, and to Zelda, invasively. Even though it is shown he feels no desire for any of these people, so that sensuality basically comes across like the game is firmly expecting us to find the idea of even an e-rated sensual male antagonist repulsive.

This led me down a very odd sort of rabbit trail.

Because Ghirahim- a bit indirectly- is inspired off a figure skater.

Specifically, Fi’s design was stated to evoke a figure skater, and we even see her ‘skating’ in several of the cutscenes. Ghirahim’s design matches Fi’s quite strongly; they were designed to be two of a kind.

I am not, myself, a figure skating buff, but a while ago, I happened across youtube videos of a skater named Johnny Weir.

Quickly, you can see the sword spirits’ inspirations; the close-fitting leotards, the lithe, acrobatic capabilities.

But here’s the thing about Johnny Weir: this is a guy putting on a sensual performance that is not a gross-out, a joke, or a threat. It’s basically impossible to find nothing suggestive in his choice of backup movement or the movements he makes running his hands along his body- his costume even asserts these more with the mirrored details on his gloves. This is a dude, acting in a way you could say is objectively sensual even if it may or may not stir every viewer given the individual nature of preference.

But there’s a world of difference to Weir’s performance. Not just that this is a voluntary choice made by a real person, while Ghirahim’s choices, even if they have in-game logic, are largely about Link and about the player- but Johnny Weir is having fun. He has a charming energy to him and is performing to a song he loves.

Watching Johnny Weir, it occurred to me, that regardless of Weir’s own orientation- that I do not know and will not speculate on- there’s a preconception around “being sexy”. Women are seen as supposed to be sexy (but, in many circles, not too sexy. Can’t insinuate they know what they’re doing, or have opinions and tastes...), or, more, “sexy is seen as a job that women do for men specifically.”

So, to homophobic audiences... a man deliberately enacting a sensual performance- a sense of what sensual looks like from a dude- is seen as weird, wild, and out there. If you’re not shocked by the implications that Ghirahim may be attracted to men, may be into Link, may be into the idea of torturing Link- then a certain amount of his writing kind of falls apart.

And comparing the way Ghirahim is animated and shot to Johnny Weir’s performance, it’s kind of... weak? Like, at one point in Weir’s routine, he lifts one leg and slides his fingertips down it in a smooth stroke from knee to thigh. It’s a steamy looking move, and this coming from someone who is so prodigiously ace I thought sexual attraction was made up for the first seventeen years of my life.

Ghirahim does not do that. He’s got thigh cutouts in his very close-fitting outfit, and has lines in his second fight about his body and how beautiful it is, but he does not make these movements that deliberately catch and draw the eye along the planes of him.

To me, I feel like besides this being a general affront against real queer people- the Zelda games have a concerning habit of depicting “eccentric, effeminate” men as either neutral characters or open villains and virtually always with this air of being the brunt of a joke (it’s very hard to imagine ALBW’s Yuga was designed by someone who earnestly loved this character)- it is also a bit rude to the character of Ghirahim himself.

Because Ghirahim, at the end of the day, is someone who ends the story heartbroken literally and figuratively. The entire game, he is driven by loyalty to Demise. He does not care who he hurts or threatens- and this comes back to the seeming implication that he is somewhat bloodthirsty, but vastly plays up his appetite for torture. When he thinks his goal is out of reach, he continues slogging away at it anyway, but listlessly. Everything he does, is for Demise. He is devoted enough to, late in the game, throw himself on Link’s sword for the third boss fight purely to stall for time until Demise revives.

Demise does not speak to Ghirahim, or acknowledge him, or even seemingly notice or care that by the time he comes back, Ghirahim’s metal heart has been torn open by being repeatedly stabbed by Link. (third boss fight is not kind.) Instead, he rips Ghirahim’s sword form out of his chest.

Ghirahim is a danger to Link, Impa, and Zelda, because he attacks them, and his own subordinates, because he threatens them. But to his master, he’s just a disposable pawn. This is a character driven by passion such that many of his poses and scenes show him nearly breaking into an actor’s soliloquy as he explains something to Link- and this is one way he does seem to like having Link around: he craves an audience.

And his passion is, in two ways, depicted as completely futile. First, in the dubious amount of oo scary gay man, watch out Link, he’s doing something weird with his tongue- and second and far more seriously, that everything he works for leaves him with nothing because his life never mattered for a second in the eyes of the person he lives and dies for.

Ghirahim is made a sensual character, but in a manner that feels bad faith- that feels like it has not thought about male sensuality in any direction besides “that’s wrong and icky, so we’ll attach it to our villain, who we want to be wrong and icky, and absolutely not suggest there’s anything particularly sad about what happens to him. His fault for being wrong and icky.”

headcanon #050: ash as an infj

word count: 1,403 words

ash isn’t the type who puts much weight in personality tests. things like astrology or blood types as determinations of personality are things he’s a complete non-believer in. typing with some evaluative metric that actually evaluates personality, preferences, and choices like mbti are more valid, in his opinion, but he doesn’t spend much time thinking about them. there are more than 7.6 billion people on earth, so grouping them into four or twelve or sixteen types is going to be very broad and generalized regardless.

still, ash falling into the infj category does say some things about him that are very much true. infj is the rarest mbti type overall as well as the most rare in men, and is known as “the advocate” or “the idealist” type, which itself speaks to who ash is. he’s a deeply empathetic person who feels that the closest thing he can find to the meaning of life is to help other people, and that that will be the only way to make a lasting impact. that generosity and sensitivity is very outward, though, and often leads to him neglecting himself, as is characteristic of an infj.

similarly, while infjs value honesty and vulnerability incredibly highly in others, they themselves often lack in those areas because they don’t like to ask for help or place their own emotional burden on others. ash is a classic example of this, as someone who is very private and very reluctant to ever open up completely to anyone. this creates an emotional paradox as he craves human connection, but creates distance in his relationships by way of closing himself off.

infjs can be very sensitive to criticism and are avoiders of conflict, which ash undeniably is. infjs often act driven by the motivation of what they feel is good for those around them, so when they face criticism, rather than feeling someone disagrees with their action, they feel they’ve personally failed in their driving goal. ash takes criticism very hard and part of that is his low self-esteem but another part, especially when it comes to criticism from the “general public” towards him as a public figure, is that it leads to him feeling that the criticism means he is an intrinsically bad person.

inherent idealism is also a key part of the infj personality type. arguably, it’s the most prominent trait of the personality. at times, ash can be cynical and pessimistic, but that’s because the infj’s version of idealism is not naive. it sees the world for what it is and is intent on creating a more ideal version of it. at his heart, ash is very much idealistic. he believes that a better world can be achieved through determination, good intentions, and effort. infjs in particular are known for turning their idealism into action instead of just daydreaming; they are not mere ‘dreamers’ but also ‘doers’. they will makes moves to try to improve upon the places they see the potential for bettering. unfortunately, this also results in potentially toxic perfectionism. everything can always be better and imperfections in his work and relationships tend to stand out as something that needs to be fixed to be okay. the problem is, his idealism means those imperfections can never be fixed enough to go unnoticed.

to other people, infjs are often perceived as reserved and intense. they can be seen as private, principled, and hard to get close to.

infjs are known for feeling alone and misunderstood, which i don’t think i even need to say ash feels. one habit they’re known for having is intensely cutting people off. they can quickly and abruptly cut people out of their lives who have wronged them or acted in opposition to their most deeply-held values. some of the things infjs are naturally predisposed to hating most are criticism, conflict, cruelty, manipulation, and deceit.

in romantic relationships, infj idealism again comes out. like ash does, they value “true love” and intensely deep and authentic connections and make very passionate lovers. unfortunately, like in other areas of life, this idealism means that anything less than the “ideal” does not satisfy them, making it hard for people like ash to be happy in long-term relationships, especially when he can’t find a way to counter it with a heavy dose of realism. this has been a major source of problems in ash’s relationships in the past. he’s almost always the one to end his relationships and, when he does, it’s because he’s let a road bump like feeling he loves his partner more or vice versa get to him. he takes relationships very seriously, but if any one of honesty, integrity, passion of the emotional and physical varieties, or communication is missing, it can lead to a fall out entirely for him.

infjs have been recorded as the type most likely to experience dissatisfaction in their marriage.

infjs are sometimes said to not be the type to make the first move, but ash’s nature for ‘doing’ and not just ‘dreaming’ has him frequently being the one to make the first move in his personal relationships (both in initiating them and ending them).

infjs can have a hard time making friends, which is true of ash. in the present, he has very few people he considers friends and “friend” is an important title to him that he doesn’t use lightly. most people in his life are acquaintances, though this also has something to do with the aforementioned distancing. like in relationships, ash seeks a deeper connection than passing schedules or a common workplace in favor of people he can deeply connect to emotionally. he’s not interested in people who collect friends for the sake of having more friends or pretending to feel close to someone because they’re working together. he’s often lonely because of his high barrier to accepting friendship, but he’d be even unhappier if he had to expend all of his energy on socializing with a bunch of people he only knows on the surface level.

being an idol wasn’t a great career choice for an infj such as ash. as a personality type that values independence and integrity so highly and things such as social status and material belongings less highly, being famous would have only really been rewarding for ash if he’d been able to be very authentic and had plenty of room to grow as a person and able to encourage independence, authenticity, and advocacy in others. it simply isn’t fulfilling for him as the core of the work often times conflicts with his own personal values, something that’s hard for him to bear as a strong-willed infj. his compassion and sensitivity do not make him a pushover, and he would have been happier in a role where he has more autonomy.

the dominant function of an infj is introverted intuition. in ash, this manifests in his stubbornness and involvement in his own inner world. he takes in a wide array of information and is good at breaking it down into a singular focus. this can also make him seem very single-minded, one-track-focused when he’s dead set on something. it helps strengthen his empathetic side because he’s able to consider others’ perspectives, but can also cause him to seem judgmental at times because he tends to map out in his mind where choices will lead someone before anything has happened. because introverted intuition takes in so much information, it can lead ash to get irritated or frustrated easily.

the auxiliary function of an infj is extraverted feeling. this makes ash very aware and understanding of the feelings of people around him and the feelings people experience in general, but causes him to struggle more with processing and conveying his own feelings. it’s a good function for an entertainer in that it helps him read an audience well, but it also makes him sensitive to the criticism and feedback that comes with a public platform.

the tertiary and inferior functions of infjs are introverted thinking and extraverted sensing respectively. ash lives inside his own head a lot. when he’s around other people, he bases his decisions more on intuition and feeling, but when given time to himself to assess situations, more thinking and logic comes in. the extraverted sensing has a smaller role, but plays a part in allowing ash not to get too carried away with thoughts of the far off future.
