Part 2 of the, "putting Leo in outfits," WIP sketches! The outfit this movie is from has a really soft place in my heart and I was so excited to sketch Leo in it last night, but trying to figure out the perfect pose to put him in to match the feeling of the outfit while also showing off more of his personality was a struggle dgjksljgjlk Thankfully, just sleeping on it and revisiting it today helped bc I ended up liking this pose a Lot better compared to the ones I was trying to make work last night

just wanted to say that i think the sketches you post r really cool and you have the kind of grasp of human anatomy i could only have in my dreams
WAUGH THANK YOU SO MUCH ???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS IS SO KIND !!! i really appreciate this !! so much !!
i do want to say though that YOU TOO can grasp human anatomy the amount I do - I honestly feel like half the time my drawings only come out lookin nice due to luck LOL I feel like I've got no clue what I'm doing most of the time FDSJKL
more helpful answer though is that it's just a lot of time and practice (DON'T SHY AWAY AT THE WORD PRACTICE, BEAR WITH ME HERE) and most importantly finding things you enjoy drawing !!! for me it's been a lot of fictional characters over the years (both OCs and pre-existing media characters) - if you find smth you love drawing then ur going to want to draw a lot of it, which is how you improve !!
if i can make one recommendation, i'd say go watch wrestling - it has improved my art a noticeable amount in a short time !! you can find AEW clips on youtube for free (and livestreams for free though less legally lmao) and you can find so many action shots around the internet to use as reference. it's super helpful for learning anatomy and how the human body MOVES !! ALSO learn to draw fat bodies, i swear to god that's taught me way more way faster than drawing skinny bodies ever did - once you learn about body fat placement, you're off to the races :]
draw things you enjoy!! stretch your skills!! i could give more advice but you didn't actually ask for any so i'll clamber down off my soapbox now, but !!! please trust me that you can learn !! i have often felt discouraged about my art but lately i've been seeing how much is possible when you just try things !!

me when i discover having a specific vision for something helps you be less aimless
#learning to make art is about. discovering a helpful tool/technique/idea -> see how it applies#-> learn new ideas -> forget about old idea -> encounter a problem -> find out new specific application of old idea ->#older idea gets added onto it -> repeat with every new thing you learn#im not sure saying 'forgetting' is the closest way to describe it#its more like having an old idea you used for an older problem and discovering ways it mag apply to a newer problem#may apply*#anyways. i like putting my thoughts into words#it makes me feel like i'll remember it more :]#ive been thinking about how i think of an 'aim' when i draw and what and when i consider something i make to be 'finished'/'complete'#and i've discovered that it is the biggest factor in whether or not i end up liking something i make#i think i've never really thought about it in such a way that was i guess. more straightforward#i never viewed it beyond *i guess its art block*#for example#if i wanted a pose that was energetic and dynamic i wouldn't draw a person standing#but if i wanted a pose that was still and stable i wouldn't draw someone jumping#now if i were to unintentionally do exactly what i wouldn't do in those situations#and tried to assess why i disliked what i made#i would attribute the problem to things unrelated to the main problem#'mayhe the proportions are off' 'maybe the shapes are too sharp' 'maybe the lines just have bad vibes'#but never 'it's not what i want right now'#not that those things don't play a factor bc ultimately it all comes together in a drawing#but some problems are bigger#having a vision really helps avoid that#if i am conscious of what i want out of something i make i can tell#much quicker when it deviates from it#also. i think that this act of misattribution will always return#when i focus on learning something like. drawing hands or getting clean lines. it can feel like the most important aspect of something#and i become very nitpicky when it comes to that aspect#and i lose sight of how everything comes together. which is another reason why i find having a vision. my vision may have specific parts#planned out in specific ways. but i see it not as its own part. but contribuiting to a greater goal within my vision. yeah. 30 tags...

My Favorite Cheap Art Trick: Gradient Maps and Blending Modes
i get questions on occasion regarding my coloring process, so i thought i would do a bit of a write up on my "secret technique." i don't think it really is that much of a secret, but i hope it can be helpful to someone. to that end:
Tumblr media
this is one of my favorite tags ive ever gotten on my art. i think of it often. the pieces in question are all monochrome - sort of.
Tumblr media
the left version is the final version, the right version is technically the original. in the final version, to me, the blues are pretty stark, while the greens and magentas are less so. there is some color theory thing going on here that i dont have a good cerebral understanding of and i wont pretend otherwise. i think i watched a youtube video on it once but it went in one ear and out the other. i just pick whatever colors look nicest based on whatever vibe im going for.
Tumblr media
this one is more subtle, i think. can you tell the difference? there's nothing wrong with 100% greyscale art, but i like the depth that adding just a hint of color can bring.
i'll note that the examples i'll be using in this post all began as purely greyscale, but this is a process i use for just about every piece of art i make, including the full color ones. i'll use the recent mithrun art i made to demonstrate. additionally, i use clip studio paint, but the general concept should be transferable to other art programs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
for fun let's just start with Making The Picture. i've been thinking of making this writeup for a while and had it in mind while drawing this piece. beyond that, i didn't really have much of a plan for this outside of "mithrun looks down and hair goes woosh." i also really like all of the vertical lines in the canary uniform so i wanted to include those too but like. gone a little hog wild. that is the extent of my "concept." i do not remember why i had the thought of integrating a shattered mirror type of theme. i think i wanted to distract a bit from the awkward pose and cover it up some LOL but anyway. this lack of planning or thought will come into play later.
note 1: the textured marker brush i specifically use is the "bordered light marker" from daub. it is one of my favorite brushes in the history of forever and the daub mega brush pack is one of the best purchases ive ever made. highly recommend!!!
note 2: "what do you mean by exclusion and difference?" they are layer blending modes and not important to the overall lesson of this post but for transparency i wanted to say how i got these "effects." anyway!
with the background figured out, this is the point at which i generally merge all of my layers, duplicate said merged layer, and Then i begin experimenting with gradient maps. what are gradient maps?
the basic gist is that gradient maps replace the colors of an image based on their value.
Tumblr media
so, with this particular gradient map, black will be replaced with that orangey red tone, white will be replaced with the seafoamy green tone, etc. this particular gradient map i'm using as an example is very bright and saturated, but the colors can be literally anything.
Tumblr media
these two sets are the ones i use most. they can be downloaded for free here and here if you have csp. there are many gradient map sets out there. and you can make your own!
you can apply a gradient map directly onto a specific layer in csp by going to edit>tonal correction>gradient map. to apply one indirectly, you can use a correction layer through layer>new correction layer>gradient map. honestly, correction layers are probably the better way to go, because you can adjust your gradient map whenever you want after creating the layer, whereas if you directly apply a gradient map to a layer thats like. it. it's done. if you want to make changes to the applied gradient map, you have to undo it and then reapply it. i don't use correction layers because i am old and stuck in my ways, but it's good to know what your options are.
Tumblr media
this is what a correction layer looks like. it sits on top and applies the gradient map to the layers underneath it, so you can also change the layers beneath however and whenever you want. you can adjust the gradient map by double clicking the layer. there are also correction layers for tone curves, brightness/contrast, etc. many such useful things in this program.
let's see how mithrun looks when we apply that first gradient map we looked at.
Tumblr media
gadzooks. apologies for eyestrain. we have turned mithrun into a neon hellscape, which might work for some pieces, but not this one. we can fix that by changing the layer blending mode, aka this laundry list of words:
Tumblr media
some of them are self explanatory, like darken and lighten, while some of them i genuinely don't understand how they are meant to work and couldn't explain them to you, even if i do use them. i'm sure someone out there has written out an explanation for each and every one of them, but i've learned primarily by clicking on them to see what they do.
for the topic of this post, the blending mode of interest is soft light. so let's take hotline miamithrun and change the layer blending mode to soft light.
Tumblr media
here it is at 100% opacity. this is the point at which i'd like to explain why i like using textured brushes so much - it makes it very easy to get subtle color variation when i use this Secret Technique. look at the striation in the upper right background! so tasty. however, to me, these colors are still a bit "much." so let's lower the opacity.
Tumblr media
i think thats a lot nicer to look at, personally, but i dont really like these colors together. how about we try some other ones?
Tumblr media
i like both of these a lot more. the palettes give the piece different vibes, at which point i have to ask myself: What Are The Vibes, Actually? well, to be honest i didn't really have a great answer because again, i didn't plan this out very much at all. however. i knew in my heart that there was too much color contrast going on and it was detracting from the two other contrasts in here: the light and dark values and the sharp and soft shapes. i wanted mithrun's head to be the main focal point. for a different illustration, colors like this might work great, but this is not that hypothetical illustration, so let's bring the opacity down again.
Tumblr media
yippee!! that's getting closer to what my heart wants. for fun, let's see what this looks like if we change the blending mode to color.
Tumblr media
i do like how these look but in the end they do not align with my heart. oh well. fun to experiment with though! good to keep in mind for a different piece, maybe! i often change blending modes just to see what happens, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. i very much cannot stress enough that much of my artistic process is clicking buttons i only sort of understand. for fun.
i ended up choosing the gradient map on the right because i liked that it was close to the actual canary uniform colors (sorta). it's at an even lower opacity though because there was Still too much color for my dear heart.
Tumblr media
the actual process for this looks like me setting my merged layer to soft light at around 20% opacity and then clicking every single gradient map in my collection and seeing which one Works. sometimes i will do this multiple times and have multiple soft light and/or color layers combined.
typically at this point i merge everything again and do minor contrast adjustments using tone curves, which is another tool i find very fun to play around with. then for this piece in particular i did some finishing touches and decided that the white border was distracting so i cropped it. and then it's done!!! yay!!!!!
this process is a very simple and "fast" way to add more depth and visual interest to a piece without being overbearing. well, it's fast if you aren't indecisive like me, or if you are better at planning.
Tumblr media
let's do another comparison. personally i feel that the hint of color on the left version makes mithrun look just a bit more unwell (this is a positive thing) and it makes the contrast on his arm a lot more pleasing to look at. someone who understands color theory better than i do might have more to say on the specifics, but that's honestly all i got.
Tumblr media
just dont look at my layers too hard. ok?

How did you learn to draw fat bodies but still keep it cartoony? I love how you draw different types of bodies and make them all seem normal instead of certain body types sticking out like a sore thumb next to others. I struggle to draw fat bodies without it looking weird with the rest of my art. Do you have a specific tutorial you followed or something?
This is a really good question! I'm glad you like my depictions of different body types, i worked really hard to get better at that so im happy folks enjoy em!! I didn't actually learn from a book or tutorial, it was mostly looking at fat bodies IRL and learning to incorporate those features onto what I already drew. As it turns out, we're all human, so if you understand the anatomy enough to draw a skinny person, you have the tools to understand the anatomy of a fat person.
Tumblr media
So, like, here, this is my sketch of someone with a very average build. If I were to draw a fat body, I would still use all the basic principles I use here. One mistake I think folks run into is "isolating" parts, which can lead to things like this
Tumblr media
which isn't necessarily bad, but if its not what you're going for, the issue is pretty apparent. Weight affects ALL of the body, not just the stomach or the face or the limbs. If you think about how that weight affects everything in tandem then you can start drawing fat bodies that work more in your style.
Tumblr media
for this, this is the same quick sketch using the same pose and principles as the first one. but! I allowed the weight to be distributed across the body. Notice how the legs, belly, arms, etc all got thicker? The key to drawing fat bodies and making them look like they fit is allowing that weight to affect everything. without it, it just looks like you're adding on features to someone rather than considering everything at once.
my other tip is: don't be scared! things like fat arms or chins or bellies or stretch lines are not something that's bad to depict. if you want to draw fat bodies, you gotta not be scared to draw things the way they are. someone having a fat body is not bad, and you drawing that fat body is not bad either. Experiment! To me, art is about representing ideas, and the only way to get better is to experiment with how you represent those ideas. I'm by no means an expert, and I think you can also get a ton done by looking for resources aside from me, but I hope this helps, and have fun!!

Leave It In The Sun, a Wind Waker Fan Comic
This comic was made in 2021 for @zelink-fanzine. I spent a lot of time in 2020 playing wind waker and listening to the beach boys and i wanted to make something that captured the feeling. I really love Tetra and I really don't love how she gets sidelined in the third act of the game so I wanted to take it in a route that felt more like Tetra. I spent a long time on this comic and the composition and textures and listened to a lot of music. Specifically the dress pose on page 2 and the spiral mural on page 3 were the hardest parts of the comic by far. I wouldn't have been able to make this comic without the friends I talked to on the discord phone while making it. Pretty much every part of this comic I can look at something and remember the conversation I had while drawing that specific thing. I really felt an impulse to "Prove Myself" with this one, and I'm really glad I did! it had a really warm reception and made me feel like I Did It, if you know what i mean.
The name "Leave it in the Sun" is a reference to a Jeff Rosenstock song of the same name. The whole album "NO DREAM" was a really big part of giving me the energy to finish this comic but this song was specifically the big one to me. It may not have been intentionally written to be a love song but i just find the lyrics soo romantic and triumphant. Since this whole comic was about reinterpreting meaning from old texts I felt like it was the only thing I could name this comic! The main part was like
If you knew that I think about you every single day
would it make you feel like I'm too much for you?
Or would you kinda wanna say
"You don't have to feel that way
I've been trying not to think about you too."
To any who are interested here's a big youtube playlist of the music i listened to while making this. honestly was pretty useful! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwEKjLDquWHV9QsmbiK9qN_Rtf9C7Fc8j
Special thanks to Ria, Marty, Gabes, Lilly, Fizz, Becksa, Kram, Step, Maddy, Iz, and the zelink zine people. Everyone else helped a lot but without Ria I wouldnta got past the first thumbnail sketch..shoutout ria

Ok! I've finally decided to put together a (somewhat) comprehensive tutorial on my latest art~
Tumblr media
Please enjoy this little step-by-step 💁‍♀️
First things first--references!
Now I'm not saying you have to go overboard, but I always find that this is a crucial starting point in any art piece I intend on making. Especially if you're a detail freak like me and want to make it as realistic as possible 🙃
As such, your web browser should look like this at any given point:
Tumblr media
Since this is a historical piece, it means hours upon hours of meaningless research just to see what color the socks are, but...again. that isn't, strictly, necessary 😅
Once I've compiled all my lovely ref pics, I usually dump them into a big-ass collage ⬇️
Tumblr media
(I will end up not using half of these, alas :'D)
Another reference search for background material, and getting to showcase our models of choice for this occasion~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When picking a reference for an actor or model, the main thing I keep in mind (besides prettiness 🤭) is lighting and orientation. Because I already kinda know what pose I'm gonna go with for this piece, I can look for specific angles that might fit the criteria. I should mention that I am a reference hound, and my current COD actor ref folder looks like this:
Tumblr media
Also keep in mind, if you're using a ref that you need to flip, make sure you adjust accordingly. This especially applies to clothing, as certain things like pants zippers and belt buckles can be quite specific ☝️
Now that we've spent countless hours googling, it's time to start with a rough sketch:
Tumblr media
It doesn't have to be pretty, folks, just a basic guideline of where you want the figures to be.
The next step is to define it more, and I know this looks like that 'how to draw an owl' meme, but I promise--getting from the loose sketch above to below is not that difficult.
Tumblr media
Things to keep in mind are--don't go too in-depth with the details, because things are still subject to change at this point. In terms of making a suitable anatomically-correct sketch, I would suggest lots of studying. This doesn't even have to be things like figure drawing, I genuinely look at people around me for inspiration all the time. Familiarize yourself with the human form, and things like weight, proportions, posing will seem a little more feasible.
It's also important at this stage to consider your composition. Remember to flip the canvas frequently to make sure you're not leaning to one side too often. I'm sure something can be said for the spiral fibonacci stuff, which I don't really try to do on purpose, but I think keeping things like symmetry and balance in mind is a good start ✌️
Tumblr media
Next step is just blocking in the figures. Standard. No fuss 👍
Now onto the background!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's frankly hilarious how many people thought I was *hand-drawing* these maps and stuff 😂😂 I cannot even begin to comprehend how insanely difficult that would be. So yeah, we're just taking the lazy copy and paste way out 🤙
I almost always prepare my backgrounds first, and this is mostly to get a general color scheme off the bat. For collage work, it's really just a matter of trial and error, sticking this here, slapping this there, etc. I like to futz around with different overlay options until I've found a nice arrangement. Advice for this is just--go nuts 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
Next, I add a few color adjustments. I tend to make at least 2 colors pop in an art piece, and low and behold, they usually tend to be red and blue ❤️💙There's something about warm/cool vibes, idk man..
Tumblr media
Now we move on to coloring the figures. This is just a basic block and fill, not really defining any of the details yet.
Tumblr media
Next, we add some cursory values. Sloppy airbrush works fine, it'll look better soon I promise 🙏
And now--rendering!
I know a lot of beginner artists are intimidated by rendering, and I can totally understand why. It's just one of those things you have to commit to 💪
I've decided to show a brief process of rendering our dear Johnny's face here:
Tumblr media
Starting off, I usually rely on the trusty airbrush just to get some color values going. Note--I've kept my sketch layer on top, but feel free to turn it on and off as you work, so as to not be too bound to the sketch. For now, it's just a guideline.
Tumblr media
This next stage may look like a huge jump, but it's really just adding more to the foundation. I try to think of it like putting on make-up in a way~ Adding contours, accentuating highlights. This is also where I start adding in more saturation, especially around areas such as ears, nose and lips. Still a bit fuzzy at this point, but that's why we keep adding to it 💪
Tumblr media
A boy has appeared! See--now I've removed most of the line layer, and it holds up on its own. I'll admit that in order to achieve this realistic style, you'll need lots and lots of practice and skill, which shouldn't be discouraging! Just motivate yourself with the prospect of getting to look at pretty men for countless hours 🙆‍♀️
I'll probably do a more in-depth explanation about rendering at some point, but let's keep this rolling~
Tumblr media
Moving forward is just a process of adding to the figures bit by bit. I do lean towards filling in each section from top to bottom, but you can feel free to pop around to certain parts that appeal to you more. I almost always do the faces first though, because if they end up sucking, I feel less guilty about scrapping it 😂 But no--I think he's pretty enough to proceed 😚
Tumblr media
They're coming together now 🙆‍♀️ Another helpful tip--make sure you reuse color. By that, I mean--try to incorporate various colors throughout your piece, using the eyedropper tool to keep a consistent palette. I try to put in bits of red and blue where I can
Tumblr media
Here they are fully rendered! Notice I've made a few subtle changes from the sketch, like adjusting the belt buckles because I made a mistake 😬 Hence why you shouldn't put too much stock in your initial sketch~
Tumblr media
The next step is more of a stylistic choice, but I usually go over everything with an outline, typically in a bright color like green. Occasionally, I can just use my initial line layer, but for this, I've made a brand new, cleaner line 👍
And the final step is adjusting the color and adding some text:
Tumblr media
Tada!! It's done!
All in all, this took me the better part of a week, but I have a lot of free time, so yeah ✌️
I hope you appreciated that little walkthrough~ I know people have been asking me how I do my art, but the truth is--I usually have no clue how to explain myself 😅 So have this half-assed tutorial~
As a bonus, here is a cute (cursed) image of Johnny without his mustache:
Tumblr media
A baby, a literal infant child !!! who put this wee bairn on the front lines ??! 😭
Anyway! peace out ✌️

Weird to realise in hindsight about how the things you were taught at home are actually weird, when you exclusively interact with people who aren't weird about that specific thing. Not even things you were explicitly taught at home, but something you just picked up from just the way your family talked about things and looked at you when you talked about something they didn't approve of.
At one point I thought it'd be funny to have a car that's decorated in some novelty way, with a distinct theme of some sort - the kind of vehicles you sometimes see around town and mention to your friend like "hey I saw that cool car again, the one with the funny novelty decor on it" and it just brightens your day a little to be reminded that someone actually went out of their way to have a car that's like idk painted entirely in tiger stripes just to get a laugh out of people.
And my sister looked at me like I'd just said something disgusting and said "so you just want to draw attention to yourself." My mother agreed that a vehicle that stands out in a way that's distracting could pose a danger in traffic and might cause accidents. With my fun idea expertly deflated, I didn't want a fun novelty car anymore.
This morning my boyfriend showed me an electric scooter he found online, and we agreed that while the ~Sleek Modern Design~ itself was boring as hell, essentially just a rectangle with wheels, it would at least have a good blank canvas for custom print wrap. You could probably get a print/paint job of a photorealistic leather texture on it and look like you're driving an oldschool leather suitcase around town. That would make people look twice.
And it popped into my head that now hold on, why did my family think so badly about that sort of thing in the first place? Why is it bad to draw attention to yourself, where the fuck did this "all attention is negative attention" attitude even come from? Did they really think that it's a sin for any person to want to be seen and/or heard at all, or was it just me who shouldn't want to remind people that I exist?
People need weird, unexpected little novelties in their life to not get bored of living. I'm allowed to to be weird just to get a chuckle out of people who needed one.

Tumblr media
Oh boy, VaM is kind of a trial and error experience LOL I couldn't really show you how to use the interface and stuff without a whole video or something, but it's not THAT difficult to get a hang of if you just give yourself a day or two to play around, not to mention the number of tutorials you find out there. Luckily, if you only want to use it as a reference software that makes the process far easier (to this day I have no idea how to animate on that thing, since that's not what I use it for)
As for how I use it, it's pretty self explanatory - if there's a complicated pose I want to draw but I'm either having trouble with it, or just want to double-check angles/anatomy, I will use it as a resource! I use for most of my "proper" pieces (y'know, the nicer looking ones) and every once in a while for my silly comics if I'm having trouble with a pose.
Lets use this drawing for example (the character on top of DU drow belongs to @namespara )
Tumblr media
I don't draw a lot of mud-wrestling (shocking, I know) but I had an idea of the kind of pose I wanted them to be in. So the very first thing I did was make a rough sketch of what I was envisioning:
Tumblr media
I often do a rough sketch first, even If I know I'm going to be pulling the program up because A) It's less tedious than adjusting the models over and over again until I pick a pose and B) because sometimes I'll decide I don't need the reference, after all, and so that's 30 minutes I'll have spared myself of playing around on the software.
Now, this is a pretty complicated pose! It's in a weird angle and the bodies are making contact in ways I'm not used to depicting, so I did choose to whip out VaM for this one. I went into the program and after some messing around, I flopped my little dolls together like this:
Tumblr media
Now something really cool about VaM is that you can completely customize your models, and if you have the patience, I would definitely encourage you to do so! Obviously, you don't have to make picture perfect replicas of every single character you have, but as you can see here I have made a DU drow "decoy" to help me better understand some of his features when I draw him: he has a strong brow, a short nose, a square jawline - these are all going to look a very specific way from certain angles, and I might not always be sure of how to draw it right! So it's useful to have models that bear SOME semblance to the character so you can better understand how different viewpoints will affect their bone structure and mass.
Also thank fucking god for the elf-ear slider. Figuring out how to draw those shits from certain angles was a huge pain in the ass when I started drawing DnD races.
So, with the reference in hand, I go over the sketch again:
Tumblr media
Now you may notice that I don't stick to the reference 100%. There's three reasons for this:
posing on VaM is tedious as hell. You can get something incredibly natural looking and picture-perfect to reference from if you wish, but it's going to take you hours to do. So, for the most part I just slap guys together until the results are "close enough" and use that.
In my opinion, you should always aim to ENHANCE your reference material, not replicate it exactly!
While VaM is a PRETTY DANG GOOD source of anatomical reference, it isn't perfect, I often supplement it with further reference from real life resources or make tweaks based on my own knowledge where I catch it falling short (and, antithetical to what I just said, I sometimes fuck the anatomy up further on purpose if I think it looks better that way LOL it's all jazz baby).
Then lines, color, yada yada. I don't have a tutorial on that and I don't think I could make one, because my process is chaotic as hell, but I do at times use Virt-a-mate as loose reference for lighting too when coloring - waaaaayyyy less so however, because that process is even more tedious and I feel like I often get better results by just winging it. It is a feature of the program though, and I'm sure it would be helpful for someone who has a difficult time visualizing lights and shadows. I only started using this program a few months ago, so I happened to already have a pretty good understanding of that kind of thing and just don't personally feel like I get much out of that particular mechanic.
Here's a few other examples of pieces that I made reference for (WARNING: Suggestive)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, for the question many of you may want to ask:
"Can I trace this junk?"
And to that, I say: Buddy, you can do whatever the hell you want with the reference material you created.
However,
If your goal is to learn and improve your art, and to recreate realistic proportions and anatomy from memory, tracing won't help you.
Developing your own style, your muscle memory, and personal technique will all be hindered by choosing to trace instead of drawing from observation, so I would encourage against it. Hell - even when tracing is employed as a technique, it's usually by high-skill realism & concept artists who are looking to either cut some corners, save time, or just double-check their own proportions in order to improve further - if you try tracing as a beginner, you will most definitely find the result to still look stiff and "off".
So trust me, there is so much more to be gained from drawing from observation. Make note of tangents, compare proportions, use all the elements of the picture to dictate where and how things should go - it will be a far more rewarding experience.
Hopefully this has been helpful! VaM is a really cheap program (you get it on the guys' patreon for I think 8 dollars, just google it!) and it's definitely been worth my money as an artist since I found it. Learning to use it can be a little intimidating at first glance, but as I said above you only really need a day plus one or two tutorials to get a hang of the interface.
A fair warning though, IT IS A SOFTWARE MADE FOR VIRTUAL SEX/ADULT ANIMATION So when looking it up expect to see a some spicy content.

Gojo
Major gift giver!! It’s his love language and he certainly has the money to do so. If he sees something that reminds him of you, he’ll buy it for you. If he thinks you’ll like it, he buys it for you. If he thinks it’s a cool thing, he’ll buy it to show you
Sooo touchy. He’s clingy and cuddly. He always has his hands on you. Holding yours, snaked around your waist, hip, around your neck, on your thigh, it doesn’t matter. He needs to hold you. When he gets home from particularly draining missions, he just wants to wrap his arms around you and sleep
Speaking of sleep, he’s really sleepy. And snores loud as fuck, almost monstrously so. That’s only for day naps, at night, he won’t let himself sleep before you are asleep
He sometimes has bad dreams, dreams where something happens to you and will wake up and pull you closer. He’s gentle enough to not wake you up but holding you is a comfort to him
Loves to take you shopping and play dress up with you. He will pick out clothes with you then send you to the changing room, and have you walk out real quick to show him how you look
He loves showering together, and he loves washing your hair for you and vice versa
You play games together, and he rages. Y’all definitely have some shared concels for playing things together, and he will throw a fit when he loses
He likes helping you cook. He will get things out for you, cut veggies and wash the dishes while you run the kitchen
But sometimes he cooks for you, doing it all in an apron that says “kiss the chef” or something cheesy
Buys you the most expensive jewelry, and urges you to wear it anytime you go out
Hugs from behind!! Lots of sneaky teasing touches. Pinches you playfully. Slaps ur ass then runs knowing your about to turn around and get his 10x harder
He acts like he’s smaller than he is. Will definitely ask to be little spoon, but you end up wrapping around him like a backpack. Sits on YOUR lap, etc
Always wants a kiss. Never let’s you leave the house without a kiss, and vise versa
He will pose for you. Pose for you to draw him, pose for pics, etc
Let’s you practice hair, nails, makeup, and anything else traditionally feminine on him. He thinks he looks fabulous
Will attempt to take bites of your food when you aren’t looking
Nanami
Such a gentlemen. He will chauffeur you everywhere, open your door for you, carry you when your feet hurt, pay for 100% of all dates, treats you like a princess
Speaking of princess treatment, he makes you breakfast in bed “just because”
Definition of a male wife. He does all the cleaning and helps with the cooking, always has the bed made and the house tidy by the time you get home
Brushes and does your hair for you, learned how to specifically for you
Such a romantic. I’m talking candle lit dinners, rose petals adorning the bedroom, bubble baths and more
Surprisingly super shy in public. You have to break him out of his shell a little bit
He secretly wears women’s perfume when he can. He thinks it smells so much nicer than cologne
Puts your needs first down to the most minimal details. Not making you sit next to strangers on trains, letting you get the entire hotel bed to yourself, letting you shower first with the hot water, etc
He takes any and all of your injuries seriously. Even a small paper cut he will have you wash and put a bandage on it to prevent infection
He also doesn’t take any risks. He makes sure anytime you guys are outside for an extended period of time that your wearing sunscreen. When you guys are in grass, he’s making sure you have on some kind of bug spray on your ankles
Brews coffee everymorning like clockwork for the both of you. He likes it black but bought a ton of stuff for you, so he makes your coffee Starbucks style the way you like it with cream and stuff
Watches you sleep, not in a creepy way. More in like your so beautiful he can’t keep his eyes off way
He’s super into yoga, will go to yoga classes with you. He’s so stiff he needs it
He reads a lot of books, and will geek out about them to you
Frequently accidently sleeps with his glasses on, you’ll wake up beside him and he will just. Have them on. And when he gets up in the morning to take them off he has red marks around his eyes
Nsfw
Gojo
Such a fucking tease. He LOVES to get you worked up before giving you what you want
Edging and overstim both ways. He loves to get you so close to that edge, then pull out and make you whine or beg for it. He also really enjoys making yoy cum over and over until your crying and pleading with him to stop. As for himself, his main motive for edging himself is to help him last longer. Lord knows he can’t stand more than 10 minutes inside you without cumming. He also loves it when you milk him for all he’s worth, ridding him into tears
Absolutely into sensory deprivation. He gets a kick out of either you, not being able to know his next move keeping you in the dark, or him, being at your mercy
Speaking of sensory stuff, he fucking loves it when you wear his blindfold. Blocking your vision, you can only feel his touches and not see them
He cums so much, everywhere all the time. His favorite place to cum has to be all over your face. Have you sucking him off, but before he cums he pulls out and jerks it a few times before painting your face with his seed. It’s so hot to him, seeing you covered in it
He might even take a picture if you let him. He’s really into picture/video taking, just to have for himself. Whenever your not there, he can pull out his file of lewd photos and videos of you two
He is soooo vocal. He’s loud and his moans are whiny. He doesn’t hold back though, he has no shame. Matter of fact he wants everyone to know what you do to him
Speaking of, he’s a bit of a risk taker. He’s not past sneaking into a changing room for you to help him with the boner he got looking at you in those clothes
While he may cum fast, he can still last several rounds without break. He is the strongest, after all
Loves oral giving and receiving because it’s so messy. He loves it when your drooling all over his cock, or when his chin is covered in your slick
He’s a switch, but when he’s on bottom he’d moan if you step on his cock. Such a slutty submissive, and a brat too. He’d do things to get you angry so you punish him for it later <3
Definitely has considered 3somes with geto, but never brought it up
I can see him being into roleplay
He’s not insanely girthy, but he is LONGG and pretty. Has a cute curve at the end that’s perfect for you
He loves fucking your tits
His fingers are slim and long, and when he fingers you he will make you see stars
Thinks it’s so hot when he gets you to squirt
Somno with consent
If you need to be clean right that moment he will do so, but aftercare with him usually he prefers to cuddle up and sleep then clean up in the morning
Nanami
Such a service dom. He’s a provider, and that nature sticks in the bedroom. He lives to please you, and will make you cum several times before even freeing his cock from his tight pants
He would definitely dabble in bdsm. Specifically, what he enjoys is bondage and brat taming
With bondage, he has it all. It may be a small fluffy pair of handcuffs binding your wrists behind your back, two a sturdy rope tying your ankles and wrists to the corner of the bed, to full on shibari, ropes all over your body
Absolutely uses his tie and/or belt to bind you
Brat taming was something you insisted, and when he tried it he found out he got a kick out of it too. It started with you teasing him all day, and when you begged him to be rough with you and put you in your place who is he to deny you?
Both kinks are done with upmost gentleness and care. Of course. He may also engage in light impact play, small spanks on your ass and even your clit. Nothing enough to hurt, just a little love tap to startle you
His hands drive you insane. His hands are so big, they wrap perfectly around your wrists, neck, hips, waist, etc. they also reach all the parts inside you just the way you like
While he often takes the leading role, he’s not opposed to letting you ride him to get yourself off when he doesn’t have the energy
He’s not very loud, mostly grunts and quite muffled moans come from him
So much praise. He’s constantly reassuring you through the whole ordeal, calling you beautiful, gorgeous, how well your doing, how good you are for him, etc
He would degrade you if you really wanted. Again, you’d have to tell him because he wouldn’t ever say such things to you but when your begging him to say mean things to you, he’s nothing but a pleaser
Cockwarming is a big turn on. He’s a busy man, so when he has work to do but you wanna get off, he will let you sit on his cock
Similarly, he also likes watching you ride his thigh. Your wet pussy grinding up and down on his clothed leg does something to him
Aftercare god. As soon as you guys are done he’s running a bath, carrying you to it, washing you off as you just lay back. After he drys you off, he’s carrying you back to the bed and wrapping you with his arms

dance dance! we’re falling apart to halftime!
(reblogs greatly appreciated!!!!)
EDIT: this is now available as a print in my ko-fi shop! link here [x]
alternate versions and commentary under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
about the piece: this is my first time ever attempting to draw a back—and LET ME TELL YOU. I STRUGGLED. took me a solid 2 hours to figure it out—even then I had to go physically put down the iPad and go on a walk three separate times because I was so frustrated. the things I do to make fob fanart. if you’re confused by the pose, I originally meant for the figure to be laying down, but now it’s more intended to be as though the figure is leaning on something (most likely the headboard of a bed????)—although, the pose was kind of an afterthought as I really just needed to make a lot of space to add in the text (which, as always, is hand lettered except for the “dance dance, fall out boy”)
about the song: dance dance is one of my favorite fall out boy songs, if not my favorite fob song, but I think it’s important to acknowledge the slightly misogynistic undertones of the song. im not saying that the song is misogynistic, nor that fall out boy is misogynistic, but rather that the song was released in 2005 and as a society, we’ve grown in terms of how we speak about women in pop culture. a lot of media, specifically songs from the 2000s (ESPECIALLY emo songs, im looking at you “I write sins”) had this kind of borderline misogynistic tone that is not in any way okay (Im not trying to justify it!!) but was unfortunately normalized.
as an afab person, I love this song, I love this LINE specifically (“why don’t you show me the little bit of spine you’ve been saving for his mattress, love?” goes SO HARD for me), and I think my immense enjoyment of the song doesn’t prevent me from talking about how it fits into misogynistic culture (esp of the 2000s) and it does not mean i accept it
(but also, I don’t really listen to the lyrics of the song anyway—everyone say thank you to Patrick Stump’s enunciation)
anyway that’s it k byeeeeeee (and go stream fall out boy!)
p.s. I forgot to add my watermark so for the sake of me not wanting to go back and edit it in pls don’t repost with credit please and thank yew ?????

》🔞 These panels are censored, you can go to the last of the post to find out where to see them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A little historical info to better understand:
Tumblr media
♡♡♡♡♡!!! I really feel happy and overcome with these panels, I was thinking a lot about how to make them since there were several obstacles: I had never drawn something NSFW before as it should be 😅 I never got that far so to speak, there was always a line that prevented me from taking that step, since it is not the same to draw some small scene where you only see something specific to a whole pose as such and all that implies. But after many ideas and turns I managed to take that step (maybe small for some but for me it was like reaching the moon 😂) and the most important and most feared was that the essence of the drawings and the style would be lost but I could keep it well and make it coexist ♡.
Note: as for the text accompanying the panels I want to say that it's not my best work as a narrator hahaha I don't write anything since I was about fifteen and it was my era of fanfics and stuff, so I feel its very basic and empty! 😅 ♥!
Now, let's talk a bit about the panels! Well, as we all knew this moment was coming, it was no surprise -3- Ryomen really had to be patient to get what he had been thinking for a while, but he didn't want it to be something random as it could be with any woman he wanted, he was really curious to see how Aurora could look like with the full appearance of a lady of the Heian era and when he saw her, he just couldn't resist. One thing will be clear: Aurora won't wear black teeth again, there will be no way to paint her teeth again without someone losing a limb. As for her eyebrows: she's really mad about that, but I'll let it go.
And to close this post I come with a novelty (I've been thinking about this for days) now we are going to be able to have these drawings completely uncensored on patreon.
I'm not going to lie, using more than two social networks for me is already a lot 😥 if it were up to me I would only post everything in one place but we know how the rules are and we have to respect them, if just by showing a nipple (which is a pixel 😂 ) they almost censored me on Instagram I knew this would be difficult and Tumblr is not lagging behind, while there are things that it lets pass there are others that it doesn't and it's not nice to have to make such complex drawings so that the AI doesn't detect them as 🔞 since there comes a certain point that you get tired too and it loses the grace.
My patreon will be the place for all my works 🔞 without any censorship already, you are going to be able to enjoy both public and private content depending on the type of work ♡. I think also for me it's an incentive to be able to start letting go more of my ideas and continue with everything I want to do :)
To say goodbye first I want to always thank you for all the support you give me and all your messages 🖤 and second to warn you that this CAP of Ren will be in patreon already published privately but all the other censored drawings are public for you to see and enjoy them as they should ⭐
Here are the publications that I censored and that you can now see, there are not many at the moment x'D
