I haven’t read in ages :( I’ve been stuck with the Shadow and Bone trilogy for too long now, so I was thinking of giving the second book one last chance and if I can’t get through it skip to the Six of Crow duology. I’ve tried to read silly romcom books but I can’t get into them so rip me. I just don’t have much time and lately, it wears me out every time I try to focus on pages, my attention span really sucks so yeah. (that’s why I can’t believe some of you sit through my 40k-long stories without the need to interrupt, and that's why it takes me so long to edit because I can't stay still on the ps before I get bored or distracted)

And I don’t read ff anymore, only a few now and then. My favorite fic of all time is actually on ao3 but it’s an mxm and it’s not even complete (technically, you know how it ends because the first part is from the present and then the remaining stories are about the past) Anyway it’s this one. I love everything from this author tbh, I haven’t read their latest works, but the first ones? Chef’s kisses. On here, I love the Jaehyun’s fic ‘devoted’, I think it was one of the first I’ve ever read when I started being on tumblr and I still love it to this day even if it’s not complete. There are definitely some others but when I tell you I can’t remember shit I mean it ☠️ also I used to mostly read short drabble/stories so probably that’s why I don’t remember them.

My inspiration comes from music 90% of the time or just my silly personal delusions and made-up scenarios. And sometimes from series, like ‘Bridgerton’ helped me a lot in finishing amami ancora (but the first parts weren’t inspired by that) and I put a lot of ‘Fleabag’ in the hits different mc without even realizing (because I am too obsessed with that series rip). In shattered glasses there was a bit of inspiration from ‘You’ to write Jeno. And I also pour a lot of personal stuff in certain stories and scenes, but it’s mostly to build characters, I just feel more comfortable writing things I relate to/I've been through. And that’s it, I guess?

What's the reasoning for changing Magazine to Too Soon and the inspo behind too soon

good fuckin question ok so for u creepy crawlies who don’t know, “too soon” from our mixtape loud without noise was originally a song called Magazines which we played on our first ever headline shows…. we then altered it slightly for our first tour then altered it AGAIN for the mixtape… writing is a weird process for sure and i’ll go into the rounds w this… seeing as u guys r the first to follow us on tumblr etc…

so magazines was written originally so close before these first shows, before come over (again) came out. we used to write songs really different and kinda just jam in a room… we loved it so much, and the original theme was all about shitty 2000 culture and the magazines that were slammed in our faces growing up at a late Gen Z person. fatphobia, misogyny etc. kinda based on the fleabag quote “if you could take 5 years off your life for the perfect body would you do it?”

we went in the studio and no joke, thought it was gonna be the easiest song to record for the mixtape and BOYYYYY were we wrong. i got in the studio and had a fat melt down. obviously since the success of come over i was experiencing mad imposter syndrome, and wasn’t sure what i wanted to do as a songwriter, as come over and the rest of the songs on the mixtape were written just me and guitar and this was so different and i almost forgot how to do it and knew it could be better… and i was mad at myself tbh. so i went out the studio and tried to get inspired, and found a fuckin horrid message off my ex from a time we saw him in town on harry’s birthday and the exchange ended with “you did this not me”. i was like wow, im not over this am i?

so, on the way back from the music vid for drive, i wrote some poetry about the actual anger i felt, and worked out that spoken wise it for over the magazine instrumental.

so we went in with a new idea of like the prodigy and shoe gazey bands like my bloody valentine.

and we changed it again after tour because we thought the song was that good it could be a single so we wanted to add a chorus. which we did, basically about how it was still too soon to be angry about… if that makes sense

a lot goes into writing for us i think this is an example of this hahaha i love songwriting a lot, glad i went thru this melt down to improve in the long term as my development of writing songs
