I think one of my favorite jily tropes is when James is a cocky, arrogant prick and he's teasing Lily about how he knows that she's attracted to him or that she likes him or something and then Lily is like, 'yes, I fancy you' and James trips over every pair of shoes he owns, falls on his face and loses every iota of confidence he's ever had. He doesn't believe her, he can't understand why she would like him. He's baffled. Bamboozled. And she's like ??? you just told me that you knew I liked you? and he's like 'yeah but I was making shit up???'

Recipe for Vanilla Extract

I know this is the latest joke/meme, but seriously, it’s so easy to make your own vanilla extract for so much cheaper and more delicious than you can buy it. (I made mine for about $1.00 per ounce.) And I’m making some right now, and I’m so excited about it and I thought it was the perfect time to tell y’all. 

Here’s how easy it is. 

Recipe and Method for Vanilla Extract

12 oz. of 80 proof liquor (40% alcohol by volume)

I used bourbon for a flavor boost. But many people use vodka. And it doesn’t even have to be expensive stuff. Any old kind will do.

10-12 vanilla bean pods, grade B. 

I use Madagascar vanilla pods, because I like that flavor, but feel free to use whatever vanilla variety you like best. Grade B pods are a little drier than Grade A. Also less expensive (usually). Don’t fall into the trap of thinking Grade A = better for vanilla extract. They aren’t. Go with Grade B, trust me. 

Pour alcohol into a container with an air-tight seal. Cut each vanilla pod down the middle, scrape the seeds into the liquor. Put vanilla pod husks into same container. Shake. Wait 6-12 months (shaking container every few weeks or so).

Enjoy! 

P.S. I know waiting that long for vanilla extract might seem ridiculous, but it’s so worth it. It’ll be more delicious in your baked goodies than any store-bought extract you’ve ever used. Plus they make great DIY gifts.

Like, maybe it starts because of a sex pollen run in during a space mission, and Lois, jokingly says if Bruce buys her a fancy steak dinner, with all the details, she'll call them even. And Bruce pulls through, and they have an extremely fancy dinner, where they flirt, and Bruce gives her all the details of what they did, why Clark is at home, and hard and suffering. Lois is dropped at the door by Bruce, who both immediately realize just how affected Clark is. From there, it 1000% escalates because Lois adores making Clark a trembling, needy mess for her. They have a conversation about being poly later or something, but it should definitely end with Clark tied up and forced to watch Lois and Bruce fuck over him, teasing him some too, before he and Bruce work together to wreck Lois.

When Walburga first got the owl, she thought it was a fake. One of those jokes that her brother is oh so fond of. But then a day passed, and another. Still no word from Alphard.

Walburga broached the subject to her wonderfully daft husband today and he just scowled.

"Don't talk about that blood traitor." Orion had hissed.

So, like the good wife she was, Walburga didn't. She didn't utter a word about her younger brother. They used to be close, Walburga supposes. But not anymore.

Walburga hadn't talked to Alphard in years before she was told he'd abandoned the family. Not since Sirius was very young, perhaps 6 or 7. Walburga wonders if Sirius remembers him, then she realizes she doesn't really care.

Or maybe she does, but she's spent so much time saying that she doesn't that she started believing it herself.

Sirius has always reminded Walburga of her brother. The little boy who laughed freely and loved loudly. It used to make her happy, not that she'd ever admit it. Now it just makes her angry.

She's learned from her parents mistakes with Alphard, and is determined not to let the same things happen to her own children.

She's only protecting them.
