comfort and love - hoshi

pairing: hoshi x fem!reader

warnings: reader has their period, fluff

word count: 1.1k

when you wake up feeling icky and your stomach lightly paining, you internally groan because you know your period started. you change and go back to sleep, only to wake up a few hours later to your doorbell ringing and you wake up sleepy and dazed. when you open the door to a smiling hoshi. your heart sinks because you forget to tell him you couldn't make it to the date he had planned. and here he was at your doorstep.

"shit, hoshi im sorry", you mumble out as you make way for him to enter. he looks at you confused. "why are you saying sorry baby", he asks and then he realizes you're still in your pyjamas and you look tired. "i got my period so i don't think out date can still happen", you tell softly. his gaze softens with understanding. "that's okay. i can still be here and spend time with you. i'll take care of you", he says with a newfound passion and before you know it, he's guiding you back to the bedroom and making you lie down.

periods are a little bit of uncharted territory for hoshi, but it's nothing a little research can't fix. so after quickly searching for what to do when someone is on their period he's coming to your room but you're curled up in a ball and he's running to your side.

"baby? are you okay?", he asks worried. "i'll make you a hot water bottle wait", he says and he rushes off to the kitchen. a few minutes later he's bringing you the hot water bottle and gently placing it on your stomach. you gladly take it and mumble out a small thank you to hoshi who's sitting on the edge of the bed. "have you eaten?', he says, looking at the time. you shake your head weakly. "not hungry", you tell and he's now even more worried. should he get you some chocolate? icecream? some snacks?. he decides to at least bring you a glass of water for you to sip on.

"you don't have to stay, i can manage", you tell him but he denies, telling you he's gonna take care of you. you try to lie down and rest, but the cramps only get worse. you open your eyes and don't see hoshi in the room. you weakly call out for him and he comes running, skidding across the floor in the process. "what's wrong?", he asks, concern flashing across his face but the tears brimming in your eyes are all the answers he needs. he wastes no time in coming by your side and gently engulfing you in his arms. you lean into his warmth and snuggle into his arms as you rest your head on his chest. he lightly rubs your back in hopes it will somewhat help ease the pain. but the way you were occasionally gripping his shirt told him you were still in pain and he hated in so much. he wished he could take your pain instead.

when you finally fall asleep, he gently tucks you in bed and decides to make a quick run to the convenience store to get you some snacks. you stir awake from your sleep and realize hoshi isn't next to you. you hear noises coming from outside and the smell of something in sweet in the air. you get up and waddle out of the room to the kitchen to find hoshi in front of the stove. "babe?", you call out and he turns around, smiling when he sees you. "you're awake?", he asks and he removes something from the pan and puts it on a plate.

"i made you some french toast, i know you like it so i tried following a recipe", he says in one breath, grinning as he presents the plate to you, guiding you to sit down and take a seat at the dining table. the other half of the table is covered in snacks of all kinds. you look at hoshi. "i thought you might want to snack or eat something sweet? i read up about period cravings but i didn't know what you'd like so i got some of your favorite stuff and things i thought you might like", he explains. you look at him and pout. you could cry right now. '"hoshi", you tell and he thinks maybe he's done something wrong. "what's wrong? did i not bring the right snack? did i forget something?", he asks, a lopsided pout forming on his face. you shake your head.

"you're so sweet, this is all so sweet", you finally tell and the tension disappears from his shoulders. he watches as you eat the french toast he made, happy.

if you told him you were feeling cold, he's drowning you in blankets. hungry? ready to order food or make you something again. thirsty? aksing you if you wanted water or an other drink, the phone in his hand ready to order whatever you wanted. want ice cream? he's ready to buy all the flavors.

but then later when it's afternoon he can tell your mood is a bit off and he's confused. (he's a little clueless about how the mood swings work sjjgg) so when he comes over to cuddle you when you are watching something you move away telling him you don't want to cuddle right now. he's shocked. how could you not want his cuddles? poor boy will be next to you and just be all pouty and glance over at you.

after a while, you feel find yourself scooting closer to hoshi and linking your arm around his as you lean your head on his arm. he's over the moon from this small action and pecks the top of your head, happy.

he'd sit on the counter as you watched him make ramen for you for dinner, even though you said you were feeling a little better now and could do it yourself. he'll order ice cream and watch as you eat, happy to indulge you in whatever you want.

he'll stay over that night, mostly he didn't want to leave you in pain and because you asked him to stay. if the cramps bothered you in the middle of the night, and you woke up in pain, he'd take care of you and do his best to help alleviate the pain. you're grateful he stayed as you slowly fall back asleep in his arms, his presence comforting and warm.

you weren't sure what triggered it this time. you weren't sure if anything had triggered. it all happened over a certain period of time with little things you couldn't pick out. it started with cancelling plans that were up in the air, you ate lunch in your car instead of the break room.

it was all the little things that should've been indicative to anyone. you didn't think much of your lack of wanting to just be by yourself. it was normal to just want some "me-time" and your boyfriend knew that, but it didn't mean it didn't bother him.

the little pattern of pulling away from everyone and everything didn't seem to slow as it reached the top. it seemed to speed up to the point where for the past week, you hadn't left your tiny apartment in a week- working from home to keep from having any reason.

the absolute only person you kept in rather close contact with was timothee. you'd been together for just over a year and fell for each other like there was no tomorrow. you assumed that maybe he was the reason it took so long for this to happen given that he was required in la for a bit. he'd been back for a couple of weeks, splitting time between resting and spending times with his new york friends and you. today, as a matter of fact, was saturday, which meant timothee wanted to take you out to eat and you really did not want to.

"hey, baby, are you going to be ready in ten or do you need a few?" he asked over the phone and you sighed as you looked down at the sweats you'd been wearing for much longer than you should've.

you had been putting off the inevitable for the longest time. there was a new place timothee had been dying to eat at and you were about to make him wait longer.

"you know, i don't think I'm feeling it tonight. i know you really want to eat there, so maybe call up Mike and see if he wants to go? im really sorry, it's just that im really tired."

"y/n, you know i totally adore you, but this is the third time since I've been back that you cancelled on me."

"i know and I'm sorry, i've just been really out of my element lately."

"well, what's the problem?"

you wish you knew why this happened. why you probably had timothee sprawled on his couch in disappoinment and frustration.

"there isn't one."

"bullshit, y/n." he mumbled into the phone before hanging up. the moment your gone fell from your hand, the ounce of energy you had left absolutely drained and you shut your eyes against tears.

timothee felt bad immediately- pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration at himself. he missed you- that was it. he missed and wanted you more than anything. after two long weeks in la, he expected to not leave your bed or arms for a solid 48 hours, but instead he returned to someone cold and unenthused. he got one squeal and tight hug to last him over and it hurt. now that he looked over the texts from the past few weeks, all he saw was you going to sleep or taking a nap or that you were home.

he should've noticed.

as you woke up from a half-asleep daze, you heard firm knocks on the door. you sniffled as you realized what happened no more than twenty minutes prior and got out of bed. timothee had a key, but for whatever reason, he didn't put it to use as he stood with his arms out and ready for a hug.

"Hi, lovely. i missed you." he waddled into your apartment while you clutched onto his shirt.

"im sorry." you started to cry, but timothee shook his head and wiped your eyes.

"don't apologize. i shouldn't have been so harsh with you. that was unfair to you when you're obviously going through something."

"no, you were right to be mad."

"i wasn't." he whispered and kissed your head. "what's going on, my love?"

"i don't know. im just tired of everything."

"why didn't you say anything, honey? is it because I was in la?"

"not only. it was bound to happen no matter where you were, i guess. sometimes, i just get into these funks and i feel like a burden to the world about it and I want to be alone."

"you're not a burden to anyone, gorgeous. not to me at least and when you feel like this, you need to talk to me. that's what im here for. all i want is for you to be so, so happy and i can't make sure of that if you lock yourself up and away."

you gave him a teary smile and he kissed your soft lips. "i love you."

"and i love you, lovely. just want you to be okay."

you both stayed in each other's embrace until you were laying on your couch under a blanket.

"is it too late to go out? i still feel bad." you whispered, looking up at him as he watched a movie.

"how about delivery?"

"that sounds a lot better."

like honestly does not know how to carry on w/o you

but when he sees his child he’s like

‘must be strong!!!!’

and so he is

him and joey are like literal best friends

they act more like brothers than father and son

but chan can be responsible when he needs to be

he raises joey so well on his own

and when joey asks about his mum

even though chan’s an emotional wreck on the inside

he tells him stories about his mum calmly

the best dad

Minho:

a wreck tm

but he gets over it pretty soon

i mean the boys have to look after minseo for the first couple of months while minho goes out and gets off his face

but after a stern talking to from chan

minho just breaks down and is like ‘how could i ever have not looked after my own daughter?!????!’

bc minseo is so precious and minho just cant take it

from that point on he is with minseo at every moment of the day

and she makes him so happy !!

a little over protective but that’s understandable

Changbin:

he has twins y’all

the least prepared for this

you and him had this lil game plan where he’d always look after changmi and you’d always look after miran

but look now

the boys help him out a LOT

and that makes him sad bc he wants to provide for his twins by himself

but everyone understands that is must be hard raising twins by yourself

and so they lend a hand

but on the twins’ 4th birthday he was like

“not accepting anymore help but will accept presents”

and that’s when he started doing everything himself

and honestly ??

he‘s amazing at it

Hyunjin:

when you died he was so sad

but he got straight on with his father duties

is best friends with his son

he loves him so much

but hyungsik hates it when hyunjin gets all mushy so he doesnt often

is a complete mess if hyungsik ever asked about his mum

literally doesnt know where to start and hyunjin just started crying and hyungsik’s just like

so if he really wanted info on his mum he had to ask the other members

he loves his dad too much to see him cry

Jisung:

the most emotionally damaged by you dying

i mean like jisung’s a hoe for love

and so when his love dies and leaves him with a child ???

he’s distraught

but

unlike minho

during his distraught period, he still cares for jiyoung

and other’s were like ‘umm :/ jisung i dont think thats a very good idea’

but jisung loves jiyoung so much

and jiyoung reminds him of you

so in a way

it was kinda better ?

thats what jisung thought anyway

and it turned out great !!!!!

Felix:

felix was a complete mess when you died

he wasn’t getting drunk or anything

but he may as well have been drunk

cause he was just numb

and once again he did have to be talken to

probably by his mum tbh

and after that talk he was so sorry towards benji

and he loved him every single day

more than he’d ever loced anyone in his life

maybe even more than he loved you

though he was sure that wasnt possible

Seungmin:

just scared

he wasnt a mess

he was sad

but he was more scared

he didnt know what to do

he’s never been the greatest with kids and without you by his side he was freaking tf out

i think the boys would definitely help him for a while

because seungmin just needed support

but after areum turned 2 he was like

i think im okay now

and he was completely fine

although he didnt know what to say when areum asked about her mum

and made his sister talk to her about puberty when she was old enough

seungmin was trying his best

Jeongin:

had no idea what was going on

was in a sort of daze for months

and kinda only snapped out of it when jitae learned to walk and talk

and he realised how fast his son was growing up

and how proud you would be if you were here

so he bounced back to his happy self

and took care of jitae so he had the happiest childhood ever

bc he knew that’s what you wanted for your son

like you could type for hours on end

because your hands are moving

but you just can't read

(well i mean you can but the focus thing- you know what i mean)

you have this class book that you're reading

and you're having difficulty reading the book and answering the questions on time

whereas the cute, quiet, awkward kid, has read the whole book the weekend you got it

as much as you hated the idea,,, you asked him for some help

so he get's pretty awkward around you

but he's like that with everyone

so you don't notice anything

and he was like

and you smiled back like

and it's going pretty great

so Jisung smiles and is like 'okay'

and you start your tumblr lesson

you're like going through your posts and the stories you've written

and you get to this one, really long story that did really well

you talked a little bit about the post because you were actually really proud of it

and Jisung just loves seeing you so passionate

it's new to him because you're never really like this about regular school work

he's only seen you talk about writing like twice

the last time was when you were trying to think of a title for the exact scenario you were talking about

which you asked him for any possible ideas for the title

he smiled while watching how you talked about the scenario

you didn't notice him watching,,,,, it was cute

he looked away and at the screen again

"it's a cute title"

TWO DAYS LATER

tbh y'all aren't that awkward once you warm up to each other

so on Wednesday

y'all have these presentations

and a big part of the presentation is (sorry if you love science) science

and you like lowkey highkey hate science

and the pressure of having to talk about science in front of all of your classmates (even though you know everyone and y'all are friends) was crazy

and when your teacher started to ask you questions that you couldn't answer

you felt yourself get really warm and then you started crying

you one of your closest friends ran to you side

and she was lovely enough to ask you if you wanted to be alone

which you did

so you left the classroom

after what felt like years (k not really)

you're teacher came out and talked to you a bit

LIKE YEAH WILL I KNOW I WASN'T PREPARED

your teacher said that you didn't have to finish the presentation if you didn't want to,,,, but you should go back into the class whenever you were ready

you knew that Jisung was coming back from choir soon

so you waited in the hall until you saw him

when he saw you, he sent you a small wave

you sent one back

he slowed down to a stop in front of you and asked if you were alright

bc like

you were sitting alone in the hallway lookin all sad

you just like sighed and looked down, shrugging, AND mumbling

"i don't know"

and the next thing you knew

Jisung was sitting right next to you against the lockers

"okay, what's up"

you just looked at him

and he looked back

"uhhh,,,, well,,, i had my exhibition"

you looked forward, across the hall and he nodded, doing the same

"it didn't go well, clearly as you can probably tell because I'm sitting out here and not in class"

you lowkey felt tears forming

"what happened...?"

you looked back up at him before sighing

"ELA was going great, then i got into science...."

you started to trail off so Jisung finished for you

"he started asking questions?"

sighing and nodding in response, you continued to elaborate

"yeah... BUT LIKE it was awful. I started crying, and UGHHHH it was so humiliating."

and you groaned

and ran a hand through your hair

AND THEN YOU LOOKED OVER AT HIM BECAUSE

park jisung just fuCKING GRABBED YOUR HAND

he's like lowkey stroking your knuckles with his thumb

you looked between his face and your hands repeatedly

because he's just looking forward

so you're like

you're all flustered and such

"Well,,,, i'm hoping that i'm comforting you,,,,, and i'm building up confidence"

and now you're even more confused

"i- i mean,,,, this is comforting,,, but like,,,, confidence for what??"

WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING

he look DOWN this time

and he's all like

'shit this can't be happening'

"uhhhh,,,,, confidence to,,,, confess something?"

AND NOW HE'S ALL SHY AND AWKWARD AGAIN

and you don't go assuming so you're like

"ummm, okay? but confess what?"

and then Jisung groans and then laughs like

"ugghgghhgh this didn't go as plannedddddd"

"I like you, Y/N, a lot...."

and you're like lowkey confused and you're like 'wait,,, the fuck is happening'

but you finally come to your damn senses and are like

"ohhhh,,,, i uh,,, i like you a lot too Jisung"

and he like chokes real quick

but he resorts in just smiling at you,,, lowkey in disbelief

so you smile back and like hold his hand properly

and now he's exploding inside because

oH SHIT YOU LIKE HIM BACK

he doesn't really know what to do so he's just like

",,,,,what now? I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE"

and you're all like

"oh uhh,,, me either,,,,,,"

so he like thought back to what Mark told him and he's all like

"uhhhh,, do you want to go on a date,,,?"

(SHIT JISUNG IS SO CUTE)

you're lowkey dying again

but you just smile and are like

"ahh sure"

and he's like 'yey'

and y'all decide to plan it some other time

so that happened,,,, and then you had to go back to class

(you two weren't inside because y'all got locked out before the next presentation)

and y'all are casual when you get back into class

in your usual seats

after a few more presentations y'all get a break

and your close friend (from earlier) turns to you and asks if you're okay and such

you just nod and tell her you're fine

you were smiling so big though so yeah she believed you

you and Jisung kind of accidentally started a secret relationship

it went on for like a month

and then y'all were so comfortable around each other and you accidentally held hands while walking down the hall

key word there is accidentally

y'all just didn't realize

and then your friend was like

"THE FUCK FAM WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME????"

you're confused for a second and then you look down at your hands and are like

"OH SHIT LMAO SORRY"

and then Jisungs friends find out and y'all are just like

'ohp okay then,,,,,, wasn't expecting this'

and you two were finally public with the relationship

it was definitely a change from the awkward shit that went down a month before

once everyone knew

y'all became that adorable couple everyone thought was hella cute and perfect for each other

The Girl Who Cried Fanfic (Peter Parker x Reader)

Summary: When your family is desensitized to your screams, because they usually just meant you were reading a fluffy fanfiction, the hero you’ve been reading about is the one who saves you in a time of actual danger.

Word Count: 3228

Requested: Nope

A/N: Second fic on tumblr ever, first ever Peter Parker. I had this idea when my friend told me that she screamed at the fluff in one of my other fics, but that nobody in her house came to check on her. Jokingly, I called her “the girl who cried fanfic” and well, the rest is history.

You lay in your bed late at night, the only one awake in your small New York apartment. As you scrolled through your Tumblr, you saw a new post from your favorite account, a superhero fan account that loved hearing about the shenanigans the Avengers got into. Clicking on it, you saw this one was about Spider-Man.

Weird, you thought. Spider-Man isn’t really well known outside of Queens. Maybe you knew the owner of this account.

Pushing your thoughts of confusion aside, you began to read the authors note. “Hey guys! Normally I don’t write about this kind of stuff, but there’s this cool new hero in my neighborhood called Spider-Man, and I thought I’d try to write something about him, instead of the usual Avengers stuff.”

You began to think of who it could be. A fellow super-fan in your very neighborhood. Maybe even in attendance of your school. Well, no use worrying about it right now, is there? I’ll see if I can find out more about her later. For now, I’ll visit my my favorite hero.

As you read the story, you noticed a lot of familiarities. I mean, obviously the author is going to write in generic terms, they never know who’s going to end up reading it, but it seemed more familiar than most of the fics you read. The way the school description fit yours, and the neighborhood seemed eerily similar to your own. You really must’ve at least seen this girl around.

But you swept the awkwardness of the familiarity aside and continued to enjoy the story, allowing the odd details to make it more believable for yourself. When it got to a cute part, you couldn’t help but let out a yelp of joy. Spider-Man just took his mask off because he loved you! It was so exciting that even though it was simply a story on your phone, you let out a scream. An. Actual. Scream.

Your parents came running in, thinking you were hurt or that someone had broken in, but that wasn’t the case. When they saw your sheepish smile, and the apologetic look in your eyes, they sighed and closed your door, walking away, annoyed.

Returning to your story you made a mental note to not do that again. You typically could hold your fangirling inside, whisper-screaming into your pillow, or kicking your legs around to hide the fact that you were dying inside, but for some reason the thought of Spider-Man, your local hero, and your personal crush, revealing himself to you made you lose all control of your reasoning, and you screamed anyways.

After finishing the story, you debated messaging the girl behind the account to see if you knew her, or if she had seen Spider-Man in person before. You sure had.

I mean, you didn’t mean to, I don’t think anybody really does when they first meet him. You were just lucky, I suppose.

You were sat on the roof of your building, trying to get away from it all. The stress of school eating at you day in and day out. Yeah, you went to a school for science and technology, Midtown School of Science and Technology to be exact, but you weren’t gifted in these subjects. STEM just wasn’t your thing. You were a history, English, art, and dance kinda girl, and those classes seemed almost completely neglected at this school for geniuses (because for some reason you’re only a genius if you’re smart in a STEM field). Anyways, the stress of the world was coming down around you, school and personal life issues keeping you constantly on edge. As you sat on the edge, hoping for a relaxing escape, you heard a thud behind you.

Turning around you saw a man, nay, a boy in a red and blue spandex suit. An instant blush spread across your face as you realized that you were in the presence of a real life superhero, one of the people you had been longing to meet since you knew he existed. Staying sat where you were, you stared at the hero as he made his way over to you.

“Are you alright miss?” he asked, his voice full of concern, but with a certain familiarity to it.

“Yeah, I’m okay, but why are you here?” you asked, wondering what brought you two together.

“I saw someone sitting at the edge of the building, and I had to make sure you’re okay. I wouldn’t want anything happening to a beautiful girl like you, would I?” he told you, walking on eggshells, still unsure if you were truly alright. The real reason is because he was scared you were going to jump. He’s stopped multiple people from jumping recently, it seemed that a lot of people have been losing hope as of late.

“No, no,” you said, shaking your head, “I’m quite alright. Nothing to worry about here.”

“Okay, but can I ask you to step away from the edge there? It’s a bit concerning to see someone without amazing spider abilities that close to a long drop,” he confessed, with a little wiggle of his fingers when he said ‘amazing’.

“Yeah! Yeah, sorry to worry you Spider-Man, I know you’re busy. Didn’t mean to waste your time,” you told him, mumbling the last part.

“Hey now, you’re not wasting my time here! If anything, I’m wasting your time. You were just trying to enjoy the view, and I’m the one that interrupted you.”

“You? Wasting my time? That’s insane! You’re the hero here, I’m just some girl stressing about high school. You’re out here saving people’s lives everyday.”

“I know it’s hard to believe, but I’m just a kid under this mask too. Schools not everything, don’t work yourself up so much over it. And hey, if you really need help, maybe I could tutor you.” Despite the mask covering his face, you knew he was smirking.

That was two weeks ago, and now your crush on the superhero was even worse than before. I’m just a kid under this mask. The words kept repeating in your mind as you decided to send a message to the author.

“Hey! I’m a huge fan of your writing and I just read your story about Spider-Man! It’s so good! I’m actually from Queens too, so it’s pretty cool to see someone writing something about the guy. I’ve only run into him once, but I thought the way he was portrayed was perfect! I mean, really, spot-on, so great job! Hope to see more about him in the future!” You sent it, not expecting a response. That’s what usually happened when you messaged one of your favorite writers anyways.

You set your phone down, and prepared to fall asleep, but as you were laying there, you got a notification. She had messaged you back!

“hey! omg, im so glad u liked it, i was really proud of that one but i thought nobody would like it bc it’s not an avenger one. but you’ve met him! that’s insane! like so cool. i mean, im from queens but he probably doesn’t know i exist. o well haha”

As you figured out what to respond, you found yourself getting sleepier, so you put down your phone, resolving to respond tomorrow.

The next morning, you woke up late, rushing to get ready, and heading out of the house and off to school within 10 minutes. A new record, you were sure. As you got to chemistry, your first period class, you opened up your school issued laptop, and pulled up Tumblr. You really didn’t know why they hadn’t blocked it yet, but you weren’t complaining. You opened up your messages and started typing out your response.

“Oh boy, sorry I didn’t respond last night, I fell asleep. School stressing me out, you know? Anyways, here I am in my chemistry class, messaging you instead of doing my work. It’s really not a smart idea, but whatever.”

When you sent the message, you weren’t expecting an immediate response, but you got one.

“what?! no way! im in chem right now too! what a coincidence!”

Your first thought was, wow, this girl uses a lot of exclamation points, immediately followed by the thought that if this girl attended your school, which there was a high likelihood, she would be in the same class as you right now. You looked around for people either on their phone or laptop and only found two. Peter Parker, and (Y/F/N). There was no way it was Peter, that kid was an interesting guy, but you were positive that it was a girl on the other side of the screen. Then you looked at (Y/F/N), scrolling through tumblr, with a little box in the corner, probably your conversation. You smiled, and turned back to your computer, noticing that Peter was watching a video of Spider-Man fighting with the Avengers. Stifling a giggle, you went back to the chat box.

“Do you happen to go to Midtown? I know that’s a random question, but I’m sitting in my chemistry class and, well if you go here, then you’re probably sitting in the same room as me lol.”

As soon as you sent it, you saw (Y/F/N) looking around the room. You made eye contact and both smiled, before turning back to your laptops.

“(Y/N)! i didn’t know you were a hero fan! i mean, ik we don’t talk all that much, but that’s super cool! wait up for me after class i have to hear about your meeting with Spider-Man!!”

“Okay, sounds good!”

You both simultaneously closed your laptops, leaving the only one open Peter’s, still watching the video of Spider-Man. As the bell rang, you walked up to (Y/F/N) and started talking.

“Okay, (Y/N)!” She said, her cheery voice matching all of the exclamation points she used in text, “Tell me all about this spider guy, I need it for my writing!” As she said that, you saw Peter look at you guys, but thought nothing of it, he was a fan too, after all.

As you told her the story of how you met Spider-Man, Peter was behind you the whole time. The three of you shared the next class as well, so it wasn’t weird that he was walking in your same direction, it was weird, however, that he was significantly closer in proximity to the two of you, and clearly listening to you conversation. Once again you wrote it off as not being a big deal.

That night you returned home to a new post from your favorite account. Knowing that it was following the storyline you had come up with in English today, instead of reading, had you anticipating what was to come.

The author’s note read “Hey guys! So today I’m writing another Spider-Man one. I know those of you not from Queens (so most of you) probably don’t want to be reading these, so I’ll get back to my regular scheduled programming as soon as possible, but today I met @(your url) and we had some amazing ideas! Anyways, enjoy!”

You told yourself you were only allowed to read it once you had finished your homework, so you finished your homework as fast as you could, finishing by 11pm, another record, and set to reading. By that time, everybody else in your apartment had gone to sleep, so when you began to read and saw another fluffy part coming up, you resolved to not scream.

That didn’t happen.

Spider-Man had just saved you from yourself, and the demons in your head, sealing the deal with a kiss through the mask and people expected you not to scream? Impossible. So when your parents came running into your room again to make sure you were okay, and were once again met with a sheepish smile, they sighed at you and returned to bed.

As the days went on, you and (Y/F/N) became even closer, coming up with more ideas for stories and working together to find clues as to who your masked hero really was. As the days went on, you also noticed Peter getting more antsy, especially around you. The two of you weren’t friends per se, but you had talked before, and typically said the usual hellos and goodbyes, so when ‘hello’s were traded for shady glances, and ‘have a good day’s were swapped with concerned yet prying eyes, you became concerned too.

Two weeks later you went home and saw (Y/F/N)’s newest post. The fluffiest shit you have ever seen. I mean really. You couldn’t help but scream. After the incidents two weeks prior, your parents decided that your screams weren’t important, and laid there in bed, wondering what the fuck they did wrong (I’m just kidding that’s so mean omg).

One week after that you had resolved that Peter was Spider-Man. You hadn’t told (Y/F/N) the theory yet, because you wanted to gather more evidence, and if it really was Peter, he probably wouldn’t appreciate you going around and telling his secret.

You didn’t realize that that day was the second time you were to meet Spider-Man. You were laying in bed, no new fic today, and ready to sleep when you heard a rustling. Not thinking much of it, you laid there, until you heard someone climb in your opened window. You lived on the 5th floor of the building, nobody would really put that much effort into climbing the fire escape just to rob your shitty apartment, would they?

And then you realized that they weren’t there for money. They wanted something else. Something much worse, and so you let out a scream.

Of course, your parents didn’t come. They had been trained that your screams were a product of joy and not fear, so when they heard it, the both returned to sleep, not thinking of what could possibly be going on. Not thinking that someone unwanted was in the room with their daughter.

The man walked up to you and placed his hand over your mouth, preventing you from screaming again. “I’ve been watching you for a while now,” he said, his voice raspy and his breath vile, “wondering what a pretty girl like you was doing living in this part of the neighborhood. I guess I’ll have to find out.” Before you could even react (and you were going to react, you weren’t someone to just sit there and comply), you heard a familiar voice from right inside the window.

“Well, that’s no way to treat a lady, is it?” It was Spider-Man, your imaginary hero coming to save you in real life, again.

“Who the fuck are you?” the guy asked.

“You’re clearly not the brightest,” quipped Spider-Man, before he shot a web at the guy and pulled him towards the window, and away from you. Quickly tying him up in webs, he looked at you, “I’ll be right back, I promise,” and swung out the window. Coming back, his hands now free of the man he asked you “Are you alright, miss?” in the same way he did the first day you met.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. Thank you though. If I had gone with my plan, it would have been a lot messier honestly. He probably would have ended up being shoved out the window,” you admitted with a laugh, still shaken from the events.

“Well hey, it still would have gotten the job done,” he offered, and you could hear the smile in his voice, even if you couldn’t see it.

“So how’d you know he’d be here?” you asked, curious. “I mean, I screamed and all, but I do that a lot, that’s why my parents didn’t come.”

“Wait? Your parents are here and they didn’t come running when they heard their daughter scream? That’s crazy!”

“I mean, I did say I scream a lot. Please don’t question it, it’s a long and embarrassing story.”

“Well now I’ve gotta question it. Sorry, but I don’t make the rules.”

“Ugh, fine, you win. I read a lot online. Like fluffy fanfiction and-stop judging me, I can see the judgment-”

“You can’t even see my face.”

“I know, but I can still feel the judgement, so stop.” He let out a chuckle. “Anyways, I read a lot of that, and sometimes it just overcomes my emotions and I scream. The first few times my parents came running in. They don’t anymore, obviously. But you never answered my question.”

“What do you read the fics about?” He sounded slightly mocking, as if he knew what the answer was, and if you were right about Peter being the man under the mask, he would know.

You tried to hide the blush on your face as you changed the subject. “You answer mine first, and I’ll think about telling you.”

“Well, I saw that guy coming out of an alley. He seemed really shady, so I followed him back. I’ve seen a few conflicts with him-nothing I’d ever had to get involved with-and so I knew he was trouble. He started climbing the fire escape and I didn’t do anything because I didn’t want to jump to conclusions. For all I knew he lost the key to his house and this was his only way in. Obviously my instincts were correct though, so when I heard a scream, I came in to save you.”

“Well, thank you. It really means a lot to me that you’d do that for me. Thank you.” The heat rushing to your face caused the redness to become even more prominent, and Spider-Man raised his eyebrow at that. Obviously you couldn’t see it, but it was happening.

When he sat on the edge of your bed, you were surprised. Weren’t heroes suppose to save you and run off. This wasn’t one of your dumb fanfictions, this was real life. What he was doing didn’t make any sense. You shook your head and pulled yourself back to reality, looking up at the spandex clad hero sat in front of you.

“How’re you doing? I know the last time we met, you were stressing out over school. Ever find a tutor?” he asked. He was serious, but ended it with a joke, trying to make sure you were comfortable.

“Oh, I’m doing okay, school is still my number one priority-”

“As it should be.”

“But I’m not overworking myself. I’ve been taking breaks, helping my friend brainstorm and writing some stuff instead of just wallowing in my own self pity.”

“That’s good,” he said, smiling at you from beneath the mask.

“You’re probably busy, you should head out.”

“Not much crime today,” he said with a shrug.

“That doesn’t mean you don’t have stuff to do. You said it yourself, there’s just a kid under that mask. Go home, rest, talk with your family, finish your homework, sleep. There’s things to busy yourself with other than crime. You’re still just a kid, go live your life.”

He stood up and pulled you into a hug. “Thank you, (Y/N). For everything.”

As he let go and climbed out the window, swinging away, you didn’t even notice that he had never asked for your name.
