did the writers know what the cast of persuasion is capable of???!! they are BRILLIANT actors and what did they do with them? they must have been so enthusiastic to get the opportunity to work in a classic film like this, which they completely deserve but what did they made them do??? act like a bunch of broke modern day millennials (not elliot ofc) who cannot, for the life of them, well, grow up! (in the lack of better words). there was not one mature or thoughtful character portrayed (completely opposite to how jane austen presented them in the books) and the sheer failure to present such great talent, for what?? to be tiktok/instagram validated????? this is just so unfair.

everyday i wake up with the reality that no men will never-ever say me
"You have bewitched me body and soul. And I love...I love...I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on."
"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago. Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you."

just saw Persuasion (the new Netflix version released yesterday) and I was very excited to see it, because A. JANE AUSTEN and B. HENRY GOLDING but for some reasons, it did not, for the slightest moment, feel like it was a Jane Austen book adaptation??? No severely touching lines where the protagonist PROFUSELY declares their like/dislike towards the male/female lead or no making-you-weep-you-arent-in-a-ball scenes or no CLASSIC PIANO BACKGROUND, like what was even going on? The costumes were a bit off too and it was a little too modern/cool and my period drama starved heart is not satisfied, at all.
Also, when I say period drama/movie, I mean the sorts of Jane Austen and Emily Brontë and not the Netflix Bridgerton, smh.
