A list of Les Mis headcanons I have because of fanon characterizations. I tried to keep out things that are suggested in canon or in adaptations. So:

-Les Amis are anticapitalist and they believe there is a class war. In the novel they look like radical republican -EDIT: I mean pro Republic and obviously NOT the American Republican- and socialdemocratic more than real socialists (except for Bahorel probably) but the fandom made them totally red and I embrace this headcanon.

-Jean Valjean will be saved and will never be estranged from his daughter. His last plot doesn't exist in none of my headcanons and I'm glad the fandom ignored it as well. They have a strong and healthy relationship. Marius will respect that or he will fuck off.

-Javert can and will be saved

-Reincarnation for every character.

-R is an artist. In the brick he dumped Art but I share the fanon vision of Grantaire being very fond of every art in canon era and also doing graphic design in modern era. He can be bitter about it tho.

-R is actually helpful once in a while.

-R IS NOT a misogynist in modern AUs and is also friend with several women. Musichetta is a good match, because if his closeness with JB, but also Irma and Floreal, subverting the canon dynamics. Eponine too. He's smart and he thinks a lot about systemic oppression so I agree he would be sympathetic to women in 2023. BUT I don't overlook R's misogyny in canon era.

-Grantaire and Eponine would get along very well, especially if the age gap was eliminated in AUs.

-Jehan has a gender non conforming style. Long hair for sure but also traditionally feminine clothing in his wardrobe, like skirts.

-Enjolras cares about Grantaire. This one may seem born in adaptations but imho fanworks got to it before musical productions.

-Courferre

-Eponine, Cosette, Musichetta are relevant in modern AU ABC plots.

-I love bi Cosette! Zero hints in the novel but it would be neat.

-If the scenario hasn't to be strictly canon compliant, Les Amis survive, take a while to heal and then they reprise the struggle.

I want a version of drink with me where the barricade boys realize grantaire is drunk and instead of joking and/or reprimanding him for it on his verse they gently take the bottle away from him and hold his face and are there for him bc a lot of them realize that their time on earth is ticking down and so what good is it to fight with one another when they could just as easily love. what tenderness is there that is not more simply conveyed through the very sentence "drink with me"?

looking for a enjolitare fic that i read a looong time ago!

i don’t remember too much but i do remember these little tid bits below and also that i think it was pretty long but SO GOOD.

so in it grantaire i think volunteers himself or is offered up or something to make posters for whatever enjolras is and the rest of the group are focusing on and ends up having such a depressive and/or anxious episode that he doesn’t do it. there’s a lot of him angry at himself for it and then enjolras is upset with him over it as well.

there’s also this subplot where eponine doesn’t outright admit that she’s gavroche’s sister but grantaire puts the pieces together and finds out

i’ve been desperate to read this book again since i first read it and then promptly lost it so please help!

I know Grantaire calling Enjolras "Apollo" is a fandom thing but I can't stop thinking about modern AU trans Enjolras, who hasn't decided on a new first name yet, panicking when asked and he just says "Apollo" without thinking. Grantaire is just so stunned and flattered that Enjolras named himself after something that he said.

My Demisexual Headcanons 💜

For the ones who don't know what it means:

Demisexuality is an orientation found in the gray area of the asexual spectrum. People who identify with this label don't feel any kind of sexual attraction until they form an emotional (and/or intellectual) bond with someone else. Demisexuals can also identify themselves as hetero, homo, bi or pan, since the term refers to the circumstance in which the attraction happens, not the gender(s) the person is attracted to.

P.S.: people who develop sexual attraction EXCLUSIVELY through intellect are more known as Sapiosexuals.

A list of Les Mis headcanons I have because of adaptations, without any hint in the novel as far as I remember:

-Grantaire has dark curly hair (Les Mis 2012)

-Often in my mind R has Bladgen's face, just a bit rougher. Sometimes I can picture BBC's Grantaire (who was a very good one) but only in modern AUs, strangely.

-Grantaire has green eyes (Les Mis 2012 but it's a Mandela effect, Bladgen is blue eyed), I support also brown eyed R btw

-Grantaire wears green, even if the red waistcoat always features and has a great importance in my interpretation of the character (musical)

-Courfeyrac has brown curly hair (Les Mis 2012), but I support blonde!Courfeyrac as well because of his parallel to Tholomyes in the brick. His hair has to be curly anyway.

-Enjolras wears red (musical) but I support as well Enjolras who wears green, green is complementary to Grantaire's red + once I read green was the color of French Revolution. Anyway in canon era, mod it's a waistcoat or a vest, in modern AUs it's a long red coat (projection of my own coat?) or a red leather jacket.

-Javert has blue eyes. This one may be in the brick I can't remember. Javert is linked with the color blue in general, in my mind. IDK if it's especially from the 2012 movie.

-Courfeyrac and Combeferre are super close. This looks like born from the fandom but actually the idea is from the 2012 movie I think.

-I see Marius with Redmaine's face, bless him.

-Blonde Cosette but I also hate it, Hugo avoided the dark/light color scheme for Eponine and Cosette for a reason. So lately I'm trying to picture Cosette with brown hair.

-Joly has dark hair (Les Mis 2012), it's so weird to see him blond in the Arai manga

headcanon that Modern!Enjolras doesn't know how to smile for pictures so he just... doesn't, all the pictures the amis have with him just have him giving the camera the most blank, soulless, unexpressive stare in the world, and when he ends up actually smiling you can read the discomfort all over his face. I don't think he doesn't smile normally or anything, I just think the second you point a camera towards him he just immediately forgets how to.
