I can’t really multi ship when it comes to James bc in my head he was HEAD OVER HEELS for Lily, he was crazily in love with her, loves everything about her or that related to her but to him it comes as breathing, like wdym people aren’t obsessed with everything about her, what are they doing then???? there's something so beautiful about jily because i KNOW for a fact that they both came back from summer of fifth year as changed people.

James would've gotten a lot more serious; between the war getting worse and Sirius running away to his house, he would've realized that the world's not great right now and it would've definitely given him a wake up call. Bonus points if someone he knows died/got injured from a Death Eater attack. Anyway, he would've been a lot more mature by the time he started 6th year. To his friends, maybe he would've been the same James, because in their eyes, there was never anything wrong with him. But to other people, the change would've been evident.

Lily would've been a lot more horrified with herself, and very lonely. She lost her closest friend just a few months before, and it would've been taking a toll on her. Now that she's well aware of how nasty Snape was, she would realize the weight of his fascism and the upcoming war. Maybe it would be a lovely morning when she read the Daily Prophet about a Muggleborn getting murdered and realized, That could've been Severus murdering her, in a different life.

And I can just SEE them interacting neutrally, because neither has the time or the energy to think about the other. They're both so caught up with the wizarding war. Maybe, they'd be acquaintances by the end of sixth year.

Then comes seventh year, where they're appointed Head Boy and Head Girl, and THAT'S when the romance starts to happen. The blushing, the stuttering, the realization of oh shit, i'm in love.

For James, it would maybe be an afterthought, like okay. I'm in love with this girl, but I've got other things to focus on right now. But Lily would panic, try to fight it- but in the end, she can't help but love him. He fell first, she fell harder.

And then...well...the rest is canon :))

one, queer people have always existed

Random hcs:

- James collects stickers and would randomly paste them on other students, especially Regulus

- Everyone knows that Dorcas likes to paint, but no one has seen her works other than the skittles and Marlene

- Evan/Regulus/Sirius would say the dirtiest things to Barty/James (Or/And Lily)/Remus in French and it would drive them crazy trying to figure out what their partner meant (And then they turn to Pandora Rosier)

- Marlene cannot handle alcohol, has the worst hangovers out of all of them and always complains about it, but she still gets drunk every weekend

-Regulus and Sirius talk in French/Italian/Latin/Spanish to annoy their friends

- Pandora knows everyone’s secrets and no one knows how she figured them out

- Pandora doesn’t even try at Divination but gets top marks all the time

- Barty flirts as a coping mechanism and basically what he automatically does

- Remus hoards chocolate and you’d have to pry it from his cold dead hands

- Sirius steals Remus’ sweaters, and because they’re so oversized it makes him look even shorter

- Regulus is a professional at ‘borrowing’ clothes from everyone

- Peter always has some kind of snack on him

- Pandora calls Evan ‘Evangelical’ and Barty calls Evan ‘Ev’, ‘Evvy’, or ‘Darling’

- Possessive Evan and clingy Barty (I live for it)

- Crazy, psycho Rosekiller

- Barty is a pyromaniac, and when that happens only Dorcas and Pandora can settle it

- Possessive Regulus and clingy James

- Possessive Remus and clingy Sirius

- Lily calls Pandora ‘Rose’ and Evan ‘Rosie’

- Mary’s go-to is always Mcdonald’s

- James always uses :D

i think jily would've got a divorce.

but purely because they think their lives got a bit too drama free. like harry telling them about all the drama at school, how his roommate is mad at him at the moment or how he accidentally became the leader of a secret society. and james and lily start getting so nostalgic of their own drama-riddled school years that they decide to get a divorce so they can go around shops telling strangers all about the big Divorce, and have fake fights in public about custody of harry. then once the divorce is settled, they get engaged again and have another wedding. and then during the wedding, sirius objects and kisses james and lily runs back down the aisle in fake tears.

they get properly re-married the next day. but also create a rumour that lily hooked up with her maid of honour (marlene) during the after party.

no one can trust anything they say/do in fear that they're just trying to create some drama in their lives. harry ends up having to lecture them about 'the boy who cried wolf' so they instead start to just renact soap opera scenes all the time.
