Ok maybe I skipped some steps including colouring in my last post / lil dragon tutorial, but my drawing process is quite straight forward so here’s more process stuff. Sketch, drawing shadows/highlights & some ddetail in black & white, testing with different colour variations and ultimately ending up with 2 versions because I’m indecisive, adding more details & stuff in the surroundings.

(Beginning my return to this blog with my favourite uni work from the past 2 years)

Finished art from a first year concept major paper, where I designed a creature based on mythology from my background, and was given an additional "visiting" creature designed by another classmate.

My creature is the witte wieven, or "white/wise woman", from Dutch folklore, the visiting creature is a lindworm. I'm still really fond of how this assignment turned out :>

The White Worm King

A series of illustrations retelling the Danish fairytale 'Kong Lindorm'. The Shepherd's Daughter is tasked by the Red Queen and the Red Prince to find The White Worm King, who's threatening the Red Kingdom. No man has ever been able to slay the beast, and neither does the Shepherd's Daughter - instead she discovers the White Worm King is the banished and lost princess of the Red Kingdom, the twin sister of the Red Prince.

Together, the White Worm King and her Shepherd work to take back what is theirs.

I've been thinking about this for days: if shiloh were to somehow have jessie's power instead, what might that look like?

i made a brief post about it earlier (like 1 sentence) at some point, but. i think she'd be a lot like jessie, if not worse (wild, i know) -- less funny, and more horrifying. jessie is someone who will lash out violently as a reaction to feeling threatened by others, but shiloh is someone who will cause pain for entertainment and pleasure.

shiloh's explored herself emotionally and physically a lot more, and knows what she wants. she has more control of herself and is more capable of calculating moves over the long-term. i just think she'd be more likely and more able to jump straight to torture for no discernible reason without being able to be placated. god it'd be really heavyhanded symbolism with shiloh's actual name too

Posting art of my Oc, Lindworm/Asta who is inspired by the Danish tale Prince Lindworm which the tale is recorded by Svend Grundrvig

Notes:

- gen 2 of glass-rose

- one of the party members of Sena’s team

- one of the seven beast who have a connection/contract with a witch (specifically in this case Sena’s great grandmother for them)

- Uses any pronouns due to not caring how anyone treated her throughout her life as she lived as a Lindworm/abnormal by the kingdom

- was forced to be raised as a woman throughout the majority of their life by their parents until they ate the first groom they were supposed to marry out as an act of rebellion, and thus for the first time transformed into their full Lindworm form

- Has a younger twin named Rød who was forced to be raised as a boy/idealized prince and both twins raised as strangers towards one another, Rød is the only one of the kingdom who feels guilt towards their older twin, while Asta feels pity for him

- both twins have a hybrid rose growing out of their respective eyes: Asta has a white rose with red hues in his right eye, Rød has a red rose with white hues in his left eye

- They are very touch starved as the reason why they have a really big affection towards Sena (in the pictures with them) as she was the first person to ever embraced them, not as a human nor a Lindworm, but between the state of peeled layers like a rose as it exposed Asta’s flesh and blood

- often when ever she does do good deed, she ask Sena as a reward to touch their face/hold her hand, but the ultimate award which she believes to be the highest affection is an embrace
