Owning a cat w/ Maya Lopez hc
a/n: I would die if she looked at me like that istg. ANYWHO writing fluff is a little easier for me than smut and I'm pretty busy with school and work but I can't get these fucking ideas out of my head so I had to write a lil something! Hope y'all like it! Also to the people who follow me for tlou dw I haven't abandoned it I just... I mean look at her!

Warnings: none, just fluff (romantic and cat), reader is hearing bc im hearing and i would feel uncomfortable writing a deaf y/n bc i dont know what its like sorry

Pre-hawkeye:
She would come home to your shared appartment one day and would be confused as to why you hadn't come to greet her at the door like you usually do.
She figures you're probably sleeping since it was late and she and the tracksuits have been busy all night so she sits on the couch to unwind.
You suddenly get her attention when you walk out with an excited yet guilty grin on your face. She gives you a tired smile back and asks you why you're still up. You tell her you have a surprise for her and run out of the room.
Seconds later, you come back with a skinny orange cat with a dirty nose and place it on the couch next to her so you can tell her, "I was walking home and I heard rustling and he was just hungry and cold and he needed me I swear"
And she just looks at you like in the gif, raising her eyebrow, wondering if you're actually serious.
After enough staring she just sighs, looks at the cat and then back to you and asks, "what's his name?"
After her initial resistance to form a bond with Bobby (she argued about the name but his ears perked up when you said his it and she couldn't help but smile when you jumped with excitement), she finds herself petting him to soothe herself and putting her face on his side when he purrs.
She tolerates most of the things he does but she will literally push him away when he lies on your chest because that's her spot. Not even in a sexual way. She just likes the softness of your chest and if you're skin to skin she can vaguely feel your heartbeat which usually rocks her to sleep.
Post-echo
You share a house in Tamaha and you both go out to take a walk in a nearby forest. About 20 minutes into your walk, you stop, holding her back because you hold hands as soon as you leave the house. She asks you what's wrong and you tell her you hear something crying.
You search the area for a few minutes before you find a young, black and white kitten. As soon as she sees it, Maya knows it would break her heart and yours to save it and not keep it so you bring it back home, bathe it and feed it.
You leave Maya and the kitten to go pick up some supplies and when you come back, you sneak into the kitchen to see her sliding her fingers across the table as the kitten wiggles its butt, ready to pounce.
Once it does, she's able to grab its tiny body and bring it to her face, giving it tons of kisses. You put a hand on her shoulder and she turns to you, blushing slightly. "Should I be jealous?" you ask, giggling.
She lets the kitten crawl back onto the floor as she stands up, forcing you to look up at her. "Sweetheart there's nothing on earth I could love more than you." she signs slowly, loving the way you become shy when she expresses her love for you.
You look back up at her face and see the soft smile she reserves for you and you can't help but lean into her soft lips as she grabs your waist. You think you could stay like this forever until you hear a loud, high-pitched meow. You look down and see that the little rascal is pawing at Maya's leg and screaming like there's no tomorrow.
You bend down to pick it up and it licks your face as you bring it to your neck. When you look back at Maya, she's giving you a toothy grin. "What?"
She kisses you and then the kitten's forhead and signs "My perfect little family".

Outline: Fixing new drinks in the coffee shop alongside your two girlfriends and business partners.

It's the first cold night after a hot summer and you are sitting on the counter in the back of the small corner coffee shop that you share with your girlfriends. Brunnhilde is pouring some syrup into a full coffee cup followed by Maya pouring some foam over it.
"Hmmm, smells amazing." Your comment and take the cup in your hands bringing it to your nose. Maya signs to you that's too hot, don't be stupid but you can only chuckle at her and scrunch your nose. You blow some air over it and then you bring the mug close to your lips taking a small sip. Brunnhilde is shaking her head because she knows what's coming next yet. You immediately push the mug away, place it on the counter and run for the sink.
Maya signs to her 'what did you put in there' Brunnhilde just shrugs. "Just the perfect ingredient for the fall. Pepper."
Maya laughs as you are drinking water trying to stop your mouth from burning hoping to cleanse it. She rolls her eyes and signs to you 'told you to be careful.' you can only roll your eyes back to her as you are hanging on for your life. The next moment Brunnhilde is placing another mug on the counter, this time an orange one with a big white skeleton head on the front. She first pours in some caramel syrup and then pours inside some hot cappuccino.
"No, pepper!" You shout.
"Don't be greedy. This one is for Maya." Maya winks at you and then places some hazelnut syrup inside, making it extra sweet. Maya liked her sugary drinks, especially on a cold evening so she knew something like that would be a hit for the store. Brunnhilde then adds a couple of Halloween orange and black truffles on top of it and sets it aside. She signs to you 'I will wait a few minutes first' and you just stick out your tongue in response.
It's time for you to make a drink as well and you aim for an iced coffee. "For the sexy girls in the fall." You tell them and pour a cup into the Nespresso machine for some coffee to be made and then place a glass under it. You prepare another glass with ice, pumpkin syrup, and a little mix of creamer and milk and then pour the coffee over it, giving it a swirl with your skull-clad metallic straw, you proceed to take a sip moaning at the taste.
"Right..." Brunnhilde comments and takes the glass from you, taking a sip for herself, and then Maya does the same with a smirk. "Not bad, for a beginner. Could be much worse." Brunnhilde comments and Maya agrees.
"I am going to count it as a win."
The rest of the night went a little bit like this, trying new recipes for drinks and trying to decide on what to order for the store next.
The fall season is upon us.

“Kate Bishop, I need you to distract her for a while!”
Which is easily said from someone like Yelena, who is one of the deadliest assassins, trained for it since childhood (and that’s something Kate doesn’t like to dwell on, as it makes her sad and frustrated and so angry that she wants to burn the whole world—well, all right, not the whole world, there’s too much beauty to destroy it so mindlessly, but at the very least the Red Room, which has already been burnt down, so she has nowhere to direct her anger), but for Kate, it’s slightly more difficult.
While she can hold her own pretty well against Maya, it’s far trickier to stop her long enough for whatever Yelena has in mind, considering she can copy Kate’s moves within seconds (which is actually pretty cool, but that’s neither here nor there), and normally, Kate would resort to talking off her opponent’s ear—a strategy that’s already proven to be a great diversion—but unless she somehow gets her hands free mid-fight to sign, that’s not going to work on a deaf person, now, is it?
So, she acts on impulse.
