The second of two illustrations I did for the MDZS WIP Big Bang! I’m paired with the upcoming fic “If I Should Fall Behind” written by theladyscribe, in which Lan Wangji and Wen Qing enter an arranged marriage!

“The wedding was not what he had imagined, on those rare occasions Lan Wangji thought of his marriage. Wen Qing stood at the top of the steps, red veil dancing lightly in the wind. Red and gold suited her: a crimson gash on the white marble. Her stance was rigid, as if she, too, would rather be anywhere other than here, fulfilling the wedding contract made between their clans some ten years ago. A small comfort that perhaps he was not alone in this. * A wedding, a war, a friendship, a home.”

"Lan Wangji has a carefully crafted morning routine, he wakes at 5, makes his breakfast, goes for a run, returns home and showers, spends some time looking after his rabbits, and then heads to work to get to the shop for 7 sharp to start caring for the plants and be ready to open for customers at 8am.

His evenings vary slightly, coming home after closing up the shop and allowing the rabbits to roam his apartment, cooking dinner for himself and on occasion eating with his brother or friends, and then otherwise winding down by meditating or reading until it is time to shower and prepare for sleep.

His only other indulgence is his music, playing his guqin or composing songs to send out to his friends for their various projects.

He rarely deviates, doesn't have a reason to, his life is full no matter what his brother says.

He isn't lonely."

An excerpt from chapter 1 of the adorable fic "Love in Bloom" by the lovely KikiDoesFanfic. I had the absolute pleasure of getting to draw this piece as a part of the WIP BIG Bang. I think my absolute favorite part of it was Lan Wangji's soft pining. He cooks for Wei Wuxian ya'll! He does all the little things that shows he cares. We have all these intimate little moments around family and food. If you love fluff, seeing Wangxian's burgeoning romance in a modern AU, single father Wei Wuxian and smitten florist Lan Wangji, tattooed hottie NMJ with a swooning LXC on the side then you gotta check out their fic!! New Wipwed!

Here's another snippet from the current section of my Bottomji big bang fic. Wei Ying and Nie Huaisang chat about their jobs (including art curation, of which I have no knowledge).

“I don’t want to talk about it,” said Wei Ying, sharper than he intended. To soften the blow, he continued, “Tell me about what you’ve been up to. Which new corner of the world have you been to recently?” Nie Huaisang hummed and allowed the subject to change. “I’ve been traveling through Europe trying to trace the provenance of this new piece I found. I can’t tell you the details—my boss though it could’ve been one of the old masters’, but I don’t think so. Probably a student of someone famous. Paints in the same kind of style, you know?” “Wow, that sounds pretty cool. Not a forgery?” Nie Huaisang laughed and waved his hand fan at Wei Ying. “You know I can always spot a fake. No, the paints and canvas are the right age for the era. That’s why I think it’s a student.” “Ah, must be a good find then. I’m impressed.” No one had expected Nie Huaisang to find a job immediately out of art school, let alone one doing curation for a famous art gallery. While Wei Ying was impressed, he had expected something like this from his old friend—he knew how smart Nie Huaisang was despite how he moaned about his low grades. He hadn’t expected Nie Huaisang to immediately leave the country to pursue one painting or another, but he was happy for his friend. “Well, let’s not count our chickens before they hatch. You can be impressed when we confirm exactly who painted it,” replied Nie Huaisang with a smile. “You’ll have to come to the unveiling if it turns out to be a good find.”

💫 Announcement: New MDZS/The Untamed Subreddit 💫

I'm excited to announce that I took over as the mod of the r/mdzs subreddit! I plan to make it into an alternative for r/MoDaoZuShi, whose mods aren't active anymore.

About this community This is a community for the danmei novel "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation". Discussions about the novel and all adaptations, including The Untamed, the donghua, the audio dramas, the manhua, the manga, etc. are all welcome.

I have the following vision for this subreddit:

Give newcomers an easy entry into the MDZS fandom through the subreddit's wiki.

Provide links to fandom events, discords, fanfic references, and more. The MDZS fandom is huge and it's easy to lose track!

Create a safe environment for fans to share and discuss without fear of discourse or harassment.

Create threads where we can recommend and search for MDZS fanfiction. Here is a link to the first Fanfiction Mega Thread.

Weekly or Monthly discussion posts, based on activity and interest.

I’m aware that the MoDaoZuShi subreddit exists and I used to be active there. Unfortunately, the moderation team has been inactive for a long time. I applied as a mod and sent a message to the moderators, hoping that I could improve things, but never received a reply, which is why I requested to take over as the moderator of this subreddit. I hope r/mdzs can become a safe alternative for fans of MDZS with an up-to-date wiki page and active moderation.

Please help this subreddit grow by sharing this announcement. I hope to see you in r/mdzs! :)

WIP Not-Wednesday - a Teaser

Here's a little tease of something I'm working on for the MDZS Big Bang. Even after a few hundred years, Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian will always have misunderstandings and know just how to hurt each other when they're upset.

Jiang Cheng ignored Lan Wangji to focus on Wei Wuxian. "Did you even see Nie Huaisang before he died?! Did you ever see Jin Ling after his wife died? Or are you so wrapped up in your supposedly 'perfect' marriage that you can't bother caring about anybody but yourself? "Shut up!" Wei Wuxian shouted. "You think I didn't mourn them? You think I was just fine after we lost Shijie?! You think it's easy to lose people?!" "So you, what, just forget everyone else exists so you don't have to grieve?!" "You're out of line," Lan Wangji ground out and began taking steps backward, keeping Wei Wuxian at his back. "You and your poor Wei Ying," Jiang Cheng sneered. "As long as you have each other, nobody else in the world needs to exist, right? You who could barely be bothered to visit his own brother in seclusion more than a couple of times a year." "Don't talk to him like that!" Wei Wuxian's eyes narrowed. "This is why you're all alone, Jiang Cheng. Because you're an asshole, that's all you know how to be. Shijie put up with it because you were her brother, but I can't blame anyone else for not wanting to put up with you being like this all the time! You're so stuck in the past that you can't even accept that everything has changed. And then you yell at us because we have the courage to look forward, rather than backwards. Because we try to live our lives instead of being walking, talking monuments to the dead!" "Get out!!!" Jiang Cheng stomped forward and was rewarded when Lan Wangji took another step backwards. "Get the fuck out of here!!!" "No wonder you come here," Wei Wuxian shot out as the two of them backed away, then took one last glance at the tomb that held Chifeng-zun and Lianfang-zun. "You're just as entombed as they are."

Captured, beaten, stripped of his legendary weapon, Chenqing, and currently held in the dungeons of Lotus pier, the very place that he used to call his home, it seemed his reign of terror was finally coming to a close."

An AU where Wei Wuxian is captured shortly after Jin Zixuan's death. Hearing his beloved sentenced to death Lan Wangji finally has the impetus to bear his heart and confess his true feelings to Wei Ying. But what happens when new love has no time? When everything you've held precious is shattered and scattered to the winds, how do you find the will to keep going? How do you even begin to conceive of tomorrow?

When I Started: Back in the middle of the pandemic during a manic depressive episode.

How I Lost My Shit: It was just taking super long man.

How I Finished My Shit: When this year’s @wipbigbang came up, I thought, it's now or never baybeee! Gotta get this done! It's finally done, can't believe it happened. This is my first ever original fic. I started it about four years ago in the peak of the pandemic. Things were rough and dark, those days and the years ahead would see a lot of depressive lows and horrible manic highs. But through that time my sister introduced me to The Untamed and MDZS became kind of a small beacon of light. Because of that story I suddenly found the will to create art, to write again after not having done so for years.

I'm still not sure exactly how or why this fic was written only that I enjoyed the journey of it and am glad to have finally been able to finish.

To those of you who were with me from the very beginning you have absolutely NO IDEA how much your kudos and kind words and spellchecks and feedback gave me hope and light through some ridiculously tough time. In the four years of working on this fic I've struggled with mental health, gotten a diagnosis for cyclothymia, been evicted twice, had to move back with my parents who are hoarders and live in a shack, move again, get married twice once in a different country. You guys stuck with me through it all and I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for your readership and your eternal kindness. Once again thank you to everyone who was kind enough to kudos and comment. May the grass be ever green beneath you feet, may your lifetime be full of good and wonderful stories, those you hear, those you tell and those who you experience first hand.

WIP Wednesday - MDZS Big Bang Edition

Have a snippet of what I've been working on for the @mdzsbigbang

He threw a glance at Lan Zhan from where he was chasing around butterflies. The dragon was curled up in a dignified manner, meditating. Turning away from the butterfly, he went up to Lan Zhan. He poked his nose at his carefully coiled tail, ready to jump away at the slightest reaction. When nothing happened, he grew bolder. He nuzzled his face into Lan Zhan’s long mane of hair. That was nice. It was so soft. Wei Wuxian wondered how it would feel to comb through it. A strand tickled his nose, and he sneezed, startling himself along with the few birds around the clearing. That was embarrassing. Below him, Lan Zhan rumbled. Was he… laughing? Offended, Wei Wuxian darted forward and licked a long stripe along Lan Zhan’s face before running off with a cackle. Behind him, he heard the soft whisper of scale against scale, and then the chase was on.
