They're Back
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vampire female reader x Mikael (+ the siblings)
Summary: au where Mikael is a good dad and married the reader who has been like a mother to his kids for a thousand years.
He's never beaten, treated them horribly, or try to kill them. And Esther is the one who forced vampirism and killed all of them.
A/n: I'm experimenting with an idea I had in the middle of the night. Please leave feedback and if you would maybe want a second part.
We're also gonna pretend that rhe picture isn't Balthazar
Warnings: swearing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You listen in to the conversation taking place inside the mansion and look over to your husband.
"They've been on this earth together how long and they still don't know how to get along" Mikael chuckles as you smack his arm lightly.
You both look back to where Kol is being held back by Finn from trying to pounce on Klaus you're presuming by the way he looks like he wants to charge right at his older brother.
"We should get inside before things go down" you sigh, knowing the kids' antics.
"Definitely" Mikael quickly says as he sees Kol about to get out of the oldest's arms.
You guys vamp inside the house through the unlocked door and just before Kol attacks Klaus, you grab him so he's constrained in your arms. His back pulled against your chest.
"Okay, just breathe. There are many other ways to deal with problems that don't involve attacking your brother" you tell Kol as you slowly start to slacken your grip on the younger one (biologically/physically younger).
The five vampires look at both of you, shocked at your guys' appearance.
"Mother, Father!" Rebekah's the first to break out of the trance and runs over, hugging you guys.
"Rebekah, my lovely daughter" you hear Mikael whisper in her blond hair. You smile at how soft he turns when he's with his children.
"How did you guys find us?" Klaus spoke up.
"Well, people talk when five originals are in a small town, causing havoc" You sit down on the armrest of one of the couches in the room.
You give a pointed look over to Kol, who's advancing towards Klaus. He grumbles about it not being fair, before plopping back into the couch beside you. He leans his head against your side.
"Have they also talked about how Esther is back from the dead?" Klaus more so retorts.
You and Mikael both turn your attention to the hybrid pouring himself a drink. "What are you talking about?" Mikael asks his voice hard at hearing his ex-wife's name.
"She has come back to wipe out the existence of vampires" Finn answers.
"That bitch!" You exclaim. Everyone snaps their gaze on you, not used to you ever swearing. Even Mikael is surprised by your reaction.
"What? You expect me to be calm and stoic all the time?" You raise an eyebrow. "So where is she exactly?" You ask them.
"We have no clue" Kol mumbles into your shoulder.
"Then we'll just have to find out" Mikael says after a couple moment of silence.
Hey! I hope your having a wonderful day <3
I was curious to see how you feel about those stories where the OC is significantly more powerful than the Mikaelson Family? Like the ones where people just add the OC as a Scarlet Witch. I honestly don’t think any of the Mikaelsons would react very well to having someone significantly more powerful than them in their vicinity. As shown in quite a few episodes. Let alone one of them being romantically involved.
Hi! I'm fine, how about you?
I'm not gonna lie, these kind of stories are hard to read most of the time, especially because the powers these ocs have are practically never executed well. Why do they have that magic, who gave it to them, how do they even manage to live having that much amount of power? If people are so desperate to have their ocs be the next Wanda Maximoff, at least try better. Make their parents a god or goddess, perhaps both, someone like Thor, Loki, Freyja, especially considering the Mikaelson worshipped the Norse deities.
I honestly don't see any of them reacting well at all, especially Klaus and Kol. For a thousand years, they believed themselves to be the most strongest beings on earth and often were proud of it, knowing it meant they were "untouchable" and the few who dared to go after them were easily dealt with (excluding Mikael). We've all seen how they reacted to their parents, Bonnie, Dahlia, Inadu, Lucien, and all the people who came close to killing them, so imagining them having to deal with someone who is in Wanda level, who can warp reality and create life from nothing would be an interesting dynamic.
Trying to kill this kind of ooc would nearly be impossible, but knowing how prideful the Mikaelson are this would not stop them at all. I can see Elijah trying to negotiate some kind of truce should the need arise, and I can easily see as well Klaus and Kol trying to seduce her/him to put themselves in their good side if they've run out of chances, but this would likely be the last option considering how much it would eat them inside to have to "yield" to someone who tried killing them/is more powerful than them.
However, Kol was also absolutely terrified of Silas, to the point where he tried to kill his sister to stop her from waking him up, so it's hard to determine with him. It's very likely in my opinion, that he sided with this ooc if he got something from it, some sort of protection or escape from his family - but this alliance would prove to be very short, as all the Mikaelson are cockroaches who can never be truly away from each other.
Rebekah, on the other hand, is a hard guess for me too, considering how short her time on both shows was. Someone more powerful than her family, than her brother, who often abused her? Depending on which Rebekah we're talking about, I can see her trying to charm her way into this ooc's heart to have a defense against Klaus. But TO Rebekah would without a doubt stand with her family against anyone.
Any Mikaelson falling in love with this person, however, is unlikely to happen in my opinion. As I said before, I can see them - all of them, to be honest - making this person fall in love with them to have her/him "under control" or to have a secret weapon, but love is a very different thing from manipulation or lust. I can easily see them developing a toxic relationship that lasts through centuries if they do happen to fall in love, and being some sort of "frenemies" with the Mikaelson, but all of this is hypothetical, of course.
Thanks for the ask!
The Original Vampire Hunter
Pairing: Mikael mikaelson x reader
Prompt: Nicotine by panic at the Disco
Summary: y/n was a were wolf hunter and she ran into the original vampire hunter she had been secretly in love for centuries
Tumblr media
I was drenched in wolf blood and gripping my blade extremely tight. For centuries I had been Fighting vampires and were-wolves. Ironically I was trying so hard to impress a vampire I could always feel watching me. I could feel his eyes on me. Since he started running into me all those years ago I've lost control and I don't want it back. I first met him in the 1200’s when he killed my fiance who i didn't know was a vampire. I got turned by my fiance’s dad and at the time it was like I'm going numb, I've been hijacked. Now It's a fucking drag I have to run from the Mikaelson family and try not to be distracted by the destroyer.
Things changed when Mikael approached me to help him take down a werewolf pack. Our cover was a fancy couple and I had to kiss him which was a mistake. Now I taste you on my lips and I can't get rid of you So I say damn your kiss and the awful things you do Yeah, you're worse than nicotine, nicotine. I became wanted by all the surrounding wolf packs and have been laying low.
"How's your head ache my little hunter?" Mikael asked leaning over to see how I was doing. He had no idea of my feelings or the fact that my 'head ache' was a hang over to drink my feelings away.
"I'm fine. I didn't say anything to you last night right?"
"You said many thing's my dear. they strangest was It's better to burn, than to fade away It's better to leave than to be replaced. I find its worse to burn I haven't figured out the leave and replaced." He said and I looked at him and sat up.
"I was drowning out my emotions. Fear, caring and weakness. I know you're a fan of drawing the last one Mr. surprised goddamn attack at 2 fucking AM." I said, "your sprained my wrist that time."
"news to me my dear. I would have helped you heal it had you told me." he said and I laughed as I got up to put some distance between us, " something else you said was that you have a thing for a sexy Norwegian vampire then almost fell out the window. So what Norwegian vampire do you know other than me?"
"Fuck." I said and froze, "um? I'm not discussing this with you."
"why not?"
"Cause you're worse than the devil and the devil doesn't get my thoughts." I said rambling and Mikael pinned me to the wall. My breath caught in my throat.
"That's what I thought. It is me isn't. why didn't you tell me?"
"Cause you could never love me back so I should Cut every tie I have to you." I said and mikael kissed me.
Battle Lines
Tumblr media
Pairing: Platonic Mikaelsons x reader and past Mikael x reader.
Warnings: Canon typical violence and behaviours and Mikael is a warning on his own.
AN: This is my first time writing for The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.
You landed on the floor with a quiet thud.  Thankfully, the voices coming from outside seemed to conceal the noise your arrival made.
Forcing yourself to control your breathing and heart rate, you inched forwards until you could see Niklaus, Elijah and Rebekah.  You disregarded the fact that you could also see Stefan, Damon, and Elena.  They weren’t important right now.
Mustering all of your courage, you straightened your posture and confidently walked over to the three Originals.  Your display of courage was all for show and you knew that the Mikaelsons would have registered your presence the second you arrived in their home even if they gave no indication of it.  But your show wasn’t for them.
“Elena was so kind to provide me with the information I needed to find you,” Mikael crooned mockingly as he clutched a terrified Caroline.
Rebekah scoffed and turned to face Elena, “So literally stabbing me in the back wasn’t enough for you?”
“He threatened me!” The brunette protested.
Taking advantage of Rebekah’s distraction, you moved into Mikael’s line of sight. If you had blinked, you would have missed the way his eyes widened but there was no missing the way his gaze locked onto you.
“Caroline,” you addressed the blonde teen, stepping forwards.
Mikael quickly changed the way he was restraining Caroline and gripped both sides of her neck, “Come any closer and I’ll break her neck.”
“He’ll do it,” Klaus assured you stonily.
You raised your hands and stepped backwards.
“That’s better,” Mikael praised.
“I apologise for the delay.  I arrived as soon as I received your message,” you informed Klaus without taking your eyes off of Caroline and Mikael.  Klaus didn’t reply and you addressed Caroline.
“Caroline I need you to focus on my voice.  Can you do that?”
Caroline nodded minutely.
“Answer her properly,” Mikael snarled into her ear.
“YES!” Caroline shrieked.
As you breathed out, you commanded the shadows to creep forwards from behind Mikael.  Mikael let out a laugh, “So this is your great ally, boy?” He spat at Klaus, “Your hybrids would be a greater challenge for me even though they would be defeated before you could blink.”
Klaus’ expression didn’t change, “I don’t need the hybrids this time.  I made the mistake of underestimating her once.  It is a mistake I never intend to repeat.”
The shadows erupted from the ground around Mikael stunning the vampire long enough to allow one of the shadows to pull Caroline out of Mikael’s grasp, grab a hold of Caroline and disappear.  The shadow reappeared next to you with a shivering Caroline.
“Release her and depart.”  You commanded.  The shadow followed your order and Elijah moved smoothly forwards, gathering Caroline in his arms, and speeding up the stairs.
Mikael sped forwards but the shadows still under your command formed a large, opaque, circular wall that encompassed the entirety of the Mikaelson house between you, the inhabitants of the house and the oldest vampire.  You heard Mikael grit his teeth in frustration.
“No company that you keep will be able to keep you away from me.”  Mikael vowed.
You kept the shadows in place for three hours until Klaus informed you that Mikael had vanished.  No one in the Mikaelson house was sure how long Mikael would stay away for but at the moment, you had other pressing matters to attend to.
“How exactly do you know Mikael?” Elena demanded.
“That is what you’re focusing on now?” The Original hybrid retorted, “Not the fact that you put Caroline’s life in danger by revealing information to my father?”
“Brother,” Elijah cautioned from his perch on the stairs.  “I fear any aggression on your part would distress Caroline further.  Her current resting state is tenuous at best.  Rebekah is doing her best to maintain a calm atmosphere for Caroline.”
Klaus sent Elena a look filled with loathing before stomping up the stairs and passing Elijah.  A small smile blossomed on your face as you noticed the closer Klaus got to the top of the stairs, the quieter his footsteps became.
“I will answer your question Elena,” Elijah stated, adjusting the sleeves of his shirt.  “Not because you are entitled to the knowledge but because keeping a secret such as this one would give Mikael an advantage over us and right now, that is the last thing any of us need.”
“Well?” Damon prompted, “Do we need to play twenty questions before you tell us?”
“The thought did cross my mind,” Elijah quipped.  “But no.  To put it simply, my father’s time with (Name) was interrupted and he is attempting to resolve that.”
“And here I thought you had taste.”  Stefan sent you a judgemental look as he realised what Elijah was alluding to.  The other Salvatore brother gazed at you with disgust.
“If that’s the case, how are you still alive?  Why are you welcome here?” Elena persisted.
Out of respect for Elijah, you refrained from rolling your eyes.  Barely.  “Our time was interrupted because a vampire found out he was in town and attacked.  During that battle, I realised the connection between Mikael and the vampires of New Orleans. As soon as I connected those dots, I fled the battle and came here to warn Elijah, Rebekah, and Klaus about Mikael's presence. Naturally, I also needed to prove that I was honestly unaware of the connection they shared with Mikael and I went to great lengths to do so.
“We respected her genuine honesty and determination to prove herself,” Elijah supplied.  “Such qualities are rare to find in today's society.” Elijah examined you,  “Though I fear that using your abilities to defeat our father has done little to deter him from his pursuit of you and that it has done the opposite.  I strongly advise that we all practice caution for the foreseeable future.”
Yandere Mikaelson Family Headcanons (Platonic)
❝ 🧛 — lady l: I finally finished the hcs of our beloved vampires as platonic yandere! It was fun writing this and I hope you enjoy it too! Forgive me any mistakes and good reading!! ❤️🖤
❝tw: yandere, obsessive and possessive behavior, mention of death and murder, transformation into a vampire, jealousy and unhealthy platonic relationships.
❝🧛pairing: yandere platonic!mikaelson family x gender neutral!reader.
Tumblr media
The stories about your appearance in the lives of the originals vampires are much discussed and contextualized. Some said you were a human who was kidnapped by them and forced to become part of their family. Others say they went mad and brought you into the vampire life as a way of redeeming the human lives taken. None of this is true, however. The true story is dated back to when they were still human and you were a close friend of the family and witnessed all the tragedies over a thousand years ago.
You, like them, were human. It was Rebekah, your closest friend at the time, who introduced you to the family and it didn't take long for you to become very close to her brothers, especially Henrik and Klaus. They have come to love you and treat you like part of the family. It didn't matter if you already had a family or not, you became part of theirs and they will not allow that to be changed.
You were very close to everyone, but you still didn't know their parents and that was on purpose. Klaus and Elijah in particular didn't want you to get close to his parents at all. They tried at all costs to keep you all to themselves, to the sibilings, but they couldn't hide you forever. In one night, you met Mikael and Esther Mikaelson.
It was a cold and restless night, you couldn't sleep and you left the ''room'' you shared with them. Since you didn't want to wake any of them, you got up carefully and left the small family hut. When you thought about it, you could still feel the freezing cold on your skin and the jump you gave when you heard the voice of a man very similar to your friends approaching you. It took a few seconds, but you recognized him as the Mikaelson patriarch.
Your heart leapt knowing who the man was and you didn't know what to do. You had already heard stories about him, how strict he was with his children, especially Niklaus. To your surprise, the man, Mikael, had been kind to you. A kindness you had never expected from someone like him and, feeling more at ease, you let your guard down and started talking to him. It didn't take long for him to introduce you to his wife, Esther, and they started to consider you their child and love you as their children loved you.
Everything was going well until tragedy struck the family and changed everything. When Klaus arrived with Henrik, dead, in his arms all chaos ensued. Your heart ached to see your friend, your brother, lifeless and Klaus in tears screaming for help. Everything changed the moment Mikael forced Esther to turn all of they children, including you, into something that couldn't be killed. And that's when everything fell apart, you were turned into an original vampire, unable to be killed in the traditional way. All of this was when the first vampires in history were created. Your family of overly overprotective, murderous vampires.
Mikael and Esther were the most dangerous and murderous about you. The family patriarchs are protective and demanding. Mikael is calculating and strict, but is shown to be caring and kind to you even after the transformation. There is no doubt who his favorite child is. Although he is proud, Mikael is devoted to you and is quite close, even if he can act aloof and mean. Esther is very loving to you and has come to adore you like her child, although she is a bad woman at times and a powerful witch, Esther used to be a present mother to you.
Niklaus is considered the worst of the sibilings, although there is some doubt about this. He is cruel, insensitive to the pain of others and considered a sociopath. And maybe all of that is true, but you never knew him that way. You've always known Klaus as a protective and caring brother, and even after Henrik's death, his discovery of being a hybrid, and everything that followed for centuries, he remained the same for you. Others saw the change in him and how possessive he became about you, but it didn't matter to you. He is cruel to everyone else but you. You are the only one besides him who has never had a dagger stuck in your chest and confined in a coffin for decades. Klaus enjoys your company immensely and is the most possessive of them all.
Elijah is the quietest of his siblings in his obsession with you, usually being portrayed as calm and methodical. He is very polite and formal and he usually expects the same from his family. Elijah is very soft for you and a true gentleman, he has made a promise to himself to care for and protect you since he met you and he does his best to honor that promise after centuries of existence. Being very overprotective, Elijah is almost always seen in your company accompanying you somewhere and throwing distinct looks at anyone who approaches you more than they should. Although he is very calm, Elijah is dangerous to anyone who threatens his family and ripping out hearts will be an act of mercy.
Kol is the most spoiled of the family and the most troubled of all. He likes to drag you into his messes and carnage, even if you don't like it, he'll make sure you learn to like it. Kol is unpredictable and a bombshell, ready to unleash his murderous fury on anyone who crosses him, who crosses you. He loves to spoil you and take you with him, if he can and has the chance, he will convince you to run away with him.
Rebekah is your best friend, your favorite sister, well, that's her delusion and what she likes to believe. Rebekah is problematic but not as much as her brother, she is romantic and is always by your side at parties or family gatherings. She loves to take you shopping with her and take you out for drinks. Rebekah is very needy for your attention, for your love, and will sulk if you don't give what she wants from you. She is kind and loving, always looking out for you and doing her best to please you, but she has an unbridled rage and jealousy inside her that will become easily visible if you don't spend time with her.
Freya is the most reliable of the entire family and the most selfless of all. She always puts you above all her petty and selfish desires, genuinely caring and loving you as she feels she should. She is very responsible and a great listener, and has a habit of scolding her siblings when they get too annoying. Her obsession is strong but controlled and Freya never shows her possessiveness, usually she handles these kind of feelings as calmly as possible. She doesn't want to scare you and secretly wants to be her favorite.
Finn is the least close to you, though not by choice. He's never had much of a chance to stay by his side, not with the other brothers doing their best to get him as far away from you as possible. Finn is subtle in his obsession and prefers to watch from afar and protect you like that, but given the chance, he will physically approach you.
The Mikaelson family has its many problems and divisions, which have only been made worse after meeting you, but one thing they all agree on is that you are their top priority and that you must be protected at all costs. Any love interests will be quickly and effectively killed, and friends who are not approved by them will be far from your life. You don't need anyone but your loving family, don't you agree?
They would hate to put you to sleep for a while, but they will if they feel it necessary. They all can disagree and fight, especially Klaus and Kol, but once you enter the story is when they unite and will do their best to keep you just theirs. You took a vow, remember? Always and forever. And they will make sure you fulfill the vow you made.
Jasper Hale x reader | Cullen family x reader (platonic) | Mikaelson family x reader (platonic)
Summary: When Edward decides to leave Bella behind for her own safety, Y/N take the lead to take the Cullens to the town where she grew up, with her only concern being how to explain for them her real there.
Warning: None.
Author's note: That is my work, I DON'T authorize any plagiarism! | English isn't my first language, so I'm sorry if there's any grammar error.
༻✦༺  ༻✧༺ ༻✦༺
"Edward, if you really want to disappear... I know a place we can go." Y/N said, looking directly into the mind reader's eyes, hoping to see some kind of emotion there.
Y/N could imagine the mess that was in Edward's head, the fact that he had, or rather, wanted to leave Bella behind for the girl's own safety was killing him from the inside, and despite feeling angry at the quick choice he made, she couldn't judge him. Y/N could never see herself away from Jasper, just imagining the possibility made her frozen heart hurt.
"Where?" Rosalie chimed in, looking at Y/N waiting for her response.
"New Orleans." She responded a few seconds later, feeling everyone's eyes focus on her.
Everyone in the Cullen family had a story that began at their birth and, often, ended with their last breath before becoming creatures of the night, stories of when their surname was something else, not Cullen.
Each one took their own time to reveal this story to the others, but it was never difficult for Y/N, after all, her life was normal before anything else... Right?
The vampire was born in London, but at the age of thirteen she moved to New Orleans with her mother after her parents divorced for reasons that Y/N didn't know to this day. Her mother chose New Orleans based on the idea that her parents, Y/N's grandparents, lived there and her ancestors came from there too.
From the age of thirteen, Y/N discovered the culture of New Orleans and grew up surrounded by it: street parties, blues players on every corner, restaurants open 24 hours a day, bright night bars and so on. At least that's what Y/N told her new family.
The truth is that the girl came from a lineage of extremely strong and well-known witches in the supernatural world, the Mikaelsons. Anyone who is smart enough would have a question mark in their mind now, after all, the Mikaelsons who are still alive are all vampires and vampires don't procreate, right? Right!
But what if part of the story has never been told? Not in bedtime stories, at least.
Niklaus' father was not the only affair Esther had, the mother of the Mikaelson family had a thing for supernatural beings and, therefore, in addition to werewolves, Esther became involved with a great wizard at the time, from the Bishop lineage.
Wizards weren't as well known at the time, as everyone focused on the female image within witchcraft, sometimes with curious eyes and sometimes with evil ones, but that doesn't mean they didn't exist, and Esther not only found one, she had a daughter with him.
Five years before Esther decided to turn her children into bloodthirsty creatures, she gave birth to Agnes Bishop-Mikaelson. Knowing the gigantic problem it would create if she showed up at home with another daughter in her arms, after her 9-month "trip", and that the child was not Mikael's, Esther decided to leave Agnes with her father and pretend that she never existed, completely removing the name Mikaelson from the child.
And it worked, no one from the Bishop family ever looked for her throughout her life and eternity, but that doesn't mean that the story of having remnants of a Mikaelson in the family tree wasn't passed on.
And Y/N, from the age of thirteen, grew up surrounded by infinite grimoires of her lineage, listening to stories told by her grandparents and mother, finally being able to understand why she could make fire light out of nowhere or objects levitate.
But although the girl saw her magic as a salvation, it was her downfall as well.
After the death of her grandparents, her mother became lost in grief and loneliness, going to the other side of the veil a few months later, leaving Y/N alone in a world of supernatural beings who would do anything to kill her if they knew about her great-great grandmother.
It didn't take much for the story of Esther's secret daughter to be revealed, and consequently, the existence of Y/N. Beings from all over the United States began to appear to the girl, wanting her life in exchange for revenge, and then her ancestors began to haunt her dreams trying to help her, but Y/N didn't understand that, and the situation only left everything worse for her.
Until one day, a charming man wearing a suit that was too expensive to wear on any given day appeared at the door of her house, offering protection and help in exchange for explanations.
Elijah was extremely helpful after understanding what his mother did to the Bishop lineage, being grateful that Y/N had no reservations in showing him all the grimoires and diaries of her ancestors, revealing the complete truth.
And with that Y/N was welcomed by the Mikaelson family, being able to train her magic with Esther's grimoires too, despite not having any physical help, since Kol, one of the Mikaelson brothers, was sleeping in some kind of coffin and Freya was dead, or something like that.
But it was one night when Y/N was walking alone through the streets of New Orleans, eager to return to the home of who she considered family, when everything was stolen from her.
An old and strong enemy of Esther appeared accompanied by reinforcements and not even with all of Y/N's still little knowledge would she have been able to stop them, the girl had only recently started studying strong magic and blamed herself for it, despite it not being her fault.
The girl was kidnapped and taken to a warehouse far from the entrance to New Orleans, surrounded by orchards, where she was tortured for hours, or was it days?
With the little strength she had left, Y/N was able to escape a few meters away from the warehouse, and it was there that she was found by Esme, who at the time was looking for fragrant apples to decorate the counter of her temporary home with her family.
Y/N could never be able to thank Esme enough for saving her life that day, if it weren't for the eldest, she would not have survived, already extremely weak and with fractures that caused irreversible damage to her organs, which would only lead to a slow death. Therefore, when Esme arrived at his house suddenly with the young woman in his arms, Carlisle spared no time before transforming her.
And then Y/N Cullen's new life began. She knew that hiding the whole truth wasn't right, but the last thing she wanted was to put the Cullen family in danger, already putting them at risk enough just by being with them.
"Are you sure you're ready to go back there, my love?" Jasper's question interrupted Y/N's triggered memories, and the girl was momentarily grateful that, with her magic, she could block Edward's reading.
"Yes, it's time to face those fears. Pack your bags, we'll leave at nightfall." Y/N informed decisively, turning around and going to her shared room with Jasper, finally being able to take a deep breath and organize her mind.
She needed to tell them before they put a foot in New Orleans, the girl knew that Niklaus would know of her arrival within seconds and she definitely didn't want to cause any more drama.
Y/N took out her phone and opened the contacts, her finger hovering over Elijah's contact, sighing and closing her eyes tightly before locking the screen, her last meeting with the Mikaelsons wasn't one of the best; Niklaus demanded that Y/N return home, despite her type of vampire being different, while Rebekah blamed herself for not having protected her enough before that night and Elijah tried to calm the whole situation, also begging her with his eyes to return to them, they missed her company, but she knew she couldn't, not at the time.
The girl shook her head, trying to shake off the thoughts, and picked up her and Jasper's bags, starting to organize the piles of clothes that she would take for both of them.
༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
"There, everyone's ready?" Emmett asked after loading all the bags into the four cars and closing the trunk of the last one. Everyone responded with a simple wave and got into their respective cars, Y/N heading to the car she would use with Jasper, getting into the passenger seat and waiting for the long journey to begin.
"Baby, what's going on? Ever since you decided to take us to New Orleans you've been quiet. You know if you don't want to go there, we can aways choose another place-" Jasper began, his right hand on Y/N's thigh as his eyes remained on the road in front of him, casting quick glances at his girlfriend.
"No Jas, I'm fine, just thinking... I wasn't completely truthful with you guys about my life before I turned." She said, looking closely at Jasper, waiting to see his reaction, but only received a nod as if to say "you can continue, I'm all ears". "I think it would be better for everyone to listen." Y/N muttered, pulling out her phone and quickly starting a group call with one person from each car.
"Y/N? Unless Jasper lost his hand, I don't see why you're calling us. Your car looks great." Rosalie was the first to answer, being in the car behind Jasper and Y/N.
Y/N let out a laugh while Jasper rolled his eyes, Rosalie could be sarcastic when she wanted.
"Hello to you too, Rose. I'm just calling you all because I think I should tell you everything before we get to New Orleans. I wasn't completely truthful in the life story I told you before." Y/N began, beginning her long and tragic life story, smiling small when she had everyone's attention.
"This is all... Wow." Alice muttered from Edward's car. "How come I didn't see any of this?"
"Like I said, I'm a witch, and even with the transformation, for some reason, my magic wasn't interrupted or broken, in fact it became stronger and I have more control over it, that's why you only see me in some of your visions and Edward only hears some of my thoughts, I decide what you can see and hear." Y/N explained, seeing a sideways smile spread across Jasper's face, he knew she didn't mention him because she didn't hide her emotions from him, she never did.
"I think it's a lot of information to digest in a short amount of time, but we understand why you kept it from us for so long and I'm grateful that you wanted to protect us all." Carlisle took the lead, followed by "uhum's" from everyone, Y/N sighed in relief.
"When we get there, are we going to stay at this Mikaelsons' house or...?" Alice asked, looking out the window at the constantly changing landscape.
"We're going to the house I grew up in, I never sold or rented it. It must be dusty, but I promise it's big enough for all of us."
"Just the fact that I won't need to sleep with Edweirdo makes it good enough for me." Emmett joked, everyone laughing simultaneously, which calmed the tension.
༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
It didn't take long for the traditional "Welcome to New Orleans" sign to appear up ahead.
Y/N took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves, she couldn't imagine the Mikaelsons' reaction to seeing her again, so many years later. And she couldn't lie and say that she wasn't afraid of the Cullens' reaction to seeing what a mess her "other life" was.
The girl quickly took out her phone and opened the message group she shared with the Cullens.
"We arrived in the city that never sleeps, this is my home address, but you can just follow Jasper and I and we'll be there soon."
After sending the text, Y/N started giving Jasper directions to the entrances, trying not to look at the places they passed, as she knew she would get stuck in a memory loop. Finally, after many entrances, the girl saw the house where she spent her adolescence and early youth, smiling small as she felt her eyes fill with tears.
"It's that one over there." She said, pointing to the two-story house with a light pink fence in the front and pastel yellow curtains, just like her grandmother liked.
It wasn't long before the family found themselves unloading the suitcases from the cars and taking them to the living room, Emmett cracking jokes while Esme scolded him and Alice talked about all the clothing and shoe stores she saw on the way there.
A sound of approaching footsteps caught the family's attention, and they looked up to see a blond, green-eyed man approaching with an expression of anger and surprise.
"So it's true?" He spoke up, making Y/N freeze in the middle of the room, her hand dropping the backpack she was holding. "Y/N Bishop-Mikaelson everyone!" The man continued loudly with an ironic tone and sarcastic smile, opening his arms.
"Nik." Y/N whispered, closing her eyes tightly.
"Did you finally remember that you have a family, Y/N? Or did you come to ask for help with some nonsense you got into?" Niklaus asked rhetorically, staring at the entrance where he could see the girl's silhouette.
"Niklaus, please." Y/N spoke, turning and leaving the house, stopping a few meters away from the older man.
The hybrid stopped for a few seconds, analyzing the girl he saw as a daughter before she disappeared from his life, and the only girl Niklaus would set the world on fire if necessary, besides his brothers.
"Why did you come back?" He asked, crossing his arms, as if he was in charge of the city, which in a way is not a lie.
"We were in trouble in Forks and needed some time away." She responded with a sigh, quickly glancing at the Cullens behind her, who were paying attention to the moment without trying to interfere.
"Problems?" Nik paused for a second, a thread of worry passing through his eyes, which was quickly drowned out. "And do you find refuge here?" His nervous tone returned.
"Yes Niklaus, if you don't remember, I grew up here and my entire lineage is from here, I have the right to return to my home." Y/N argued, taking a rigid stance, pointing to her own chest.
"Oh, now New Orleans is your home? Funny how-"
"That's enough Niklaus." A second male voice came before the vision of a dark-skinned man wearing an expensive suit emerged.
"Great, a family reunion! Just what I needed right now." Y/N spoke with false excitement, rolling her eyes.
"Good to see you too Y/N." Elijah spoke, stopping next to Klaus and looking at everyone behind the Mikaelson girl, noticing their uncomfortable expressions at the sudden encounters and barbs exchanged between Nik and Y/N. "Why don't we have dinner at our house with everyone and... talk? We miss you Y/N and it would be great to meet the ones you consider family. If they're important to you, they're important to us too." He finished, sending a quick smile to the Cullens and receiving ones in return.
It would be long months.
Day 30 Prompt: "Are you with me?"
Summary: When Finn is undaggered and starts conspiring with his mother to destroy the Originals, Elijah calls in the one person who might be able to convince him this immortal life is worth living: his wife.
Word Count: 3,898
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
After more than 900 years of being a vampire, not a lot surprised me anymore. But when I woke up one morning to a call from Elijah Mikaelson, surprise bordering on shock was the overwhelming emotion.
I'd picked up the call without thinking about it, without checking the number. Even though I hadn't spoken to Elijah in hundreds of years, I still recognized his voice in an instant. He asked if he'd dialed the right number to reach me, and all I could do was exist in shocked silence for a few long moments.
I waited to respond for a few extra moments after snapping out of it, briefly debating hanging up. If it had been a different Mikaelson sibling, I would have done it. But if Elijah had tracked down my number to call me, I figured it must be for something important.
"...Yeah, Elijah, it's me. What do you... what do you want?"
I could hear his heavy sigh on the other end of the line, and I had to bite back a laugh. Once upon a time, I'd started to consider that sigh of exasperation the familiar gesture of family.
"Niklaus has broken his curse," he finally said. My heart stopped dead, but I tried not to let it show in my voice.
"Okay. And what does that have to do with me?"
"Niklaus also managed to kill our father, Mikael, and now that he's succeeded... he's undaggered our siblings."
"What?" I breathed. This couldn't be real. I must've been dreaming or something.
"He kept his word to me, albeit after taking advantage of a loophole," Elijah continued. "Finn has been undaggered, along with Kol and Rebekah. We're in Mystic Falls."
I sat down heavily in the nearest chair, my mind reeling. I'd been in love with Finn from the moment I'd met him, literal ages and lifetimes ago. We'd been inseparable from the moment Finn first started courting me, and although his family initially had mixed feelings, Finn had turned me and we'd gotten married with (mostly) full support.
And then, about fifty years into our marriage, Klaus had gotten angry at Finn, and daggered him. I'd spent about another fifty trying to get him back, until Klaus had almost killed me. He'd told me the next time I made a "rescue attempt", he wouldn't hold back. I was ready to keep going anyway, until he also threatened to dump Finn's body in the ocean, never to be found. I couldn't risk him following through. So I'd mourned the love of my life as if he was dead, and then I'd ditched every last other member of his family for good.
Until now. The thought that he was back, finally, free from that stupid box... It didn't seem real.
"Elijah, I've had very little issue with you in our long, long lives, but all the same... why should I believe you?"
"Why would I lie?"
"For Klaus."
"To accomplish what?"
I paused at that. I racked my brain, but I couldn't think of anything the middlest Mikaelson would possibly want with me. If there was something, I would've heard from him before now. And I hadn't. He'd left me alone for the past 850 years.
"Finn has been undaggered for a few days," Elijah continued, correctly reading my lack of protest as a green flag to continue. "I used my connections to track you down because we have a problem, and it seems like one you would be best able to solve."
Now it was my turn for an exasperated sigh through my nose.
"So you did call me for an agenda."
"One that serves you and Finn both." I rolled my eyes, and although Elijah couldn't see it, I had a feeling he knew what I was doing. "Our mother has mysteriously returned from the dead. Like our father, she is determined to wipe us off the Earth, as she feels our current forms are abominations. Unlike our father, she's been trying to talk us into agreeing with her and choosing to end our own lives."
I gasped, a scowl making its way onto my face. I didn't exactly love all of the Mikaelson siblings, but for a mother to try to convince her own children to kill themselves was absolutely horrific, no matter how many times I'd thought about killing her children myself.
"She hasn't made any inroads with any of us," Elijah reassured me. "Except... for Finn."
"You're joking."
"I'm not. Since being undaggered, my brother has expressed freely his feelings that immortality, especially as a vampire, is a curse that he wishes to end. My mother has only fed this mindset, and now I fear the two of them are working together to end all of us."
"And what do you want me to do about that, exactly?" I asked, even as I moved around my house to start packing a bag. If there was even a glimmer of hope that I could help Finn, I would. Even after 900 years, I knew if the positions were reversed, he would do the same for me.
"I'm hoping you can talk him off the ledge, so to speak," Elijah answered. "Keep everyone alive and well."
"I'm going to stop you right there, Elijah. It feels like you're building to threatening Finn, and I've had enough of that from your family for a million more lifetimes. I'll be there later today. Just tell me where I can find Finn."
"...I'll make sure he's at the Mystic Grill. It's a restaurant in the middle of town, you can't miss it."
"Great. See you in a few hours."
I hung up before he could say anything else.
Quickly, I finished throwing my things into a bag, then hurried out to my car. I had no time to waste if I wanted to save Finn.
Luckily for me, the drive only took a few hours, which gave me time to process everything Elijah had told me and that I'd have to face in Mystic Falls. It still didn't feel quite real that I was about to see Finn again.
That hazy dream finally faded when I walked through the doors of the Mystic Grill, my bags still in the car. I scanned the room and like a heat-seeking missile found Elijah in a corner booth, sitting across from someone who still had their back to me. The last time I'd seen Finn, he'd had hair down past his shoulders. But even from the back, with a new haircut and modern clothing, I knew it was him.
I quickly crossed the room, my heart speeding up with every step, until I stood before both of them. Elijah immediately turned to look at me, but I only had eyes for Finn.
He looked remarkably good, considering he'd been in a box for 900 years. He stared at Elijah with a raised eyebrow, then slowly turned to follow Elijah's gaze until he saw me.
The world stopped, and everyone else in the room disappeared. Finn, my Finn, the one I thought I'd lost any hope of ever seeing again, the man I loved beyond all else, was here. Sitting before me, looking at me with familiar hazel eyes. Alive.
"Finn," I breathed, the smallest of smiles tugging itself onto my face. An instant later, thanks to vampire speed, he had me wrapped tight in his arms. He breathed my name into my hair, so quietly that even Elijah's super-hearing probably didn't catch it. I squeezed him tight, a few tears leaking out as I did. He was back. He was really back, and alive. No dagger or gray skin or anything else that haunted my nightmares.
"How did you know I was here?" he finally asked, pulling back with awe on his face. I smiled and nodded towards his brother.
"Elijah found my number and called me. Can we talk?"
Finn glanced back at Elijah with slightly narrowed eyes, then looked back at me.
"...Yes. Lead the way."
I didn't know the town any better than he did, but I also didn't want to hang around the Grill in earshot of Elijah for this reunion, so I pulled Finn towards the door. We wandered towards the park, and after a quick scan of the area to make sure we weren't being eavesdropped on, I led him to a bench where we could sit together.
"I'm... so happy to see you, Finn," I said, taking his hands in mine and fighting to hold back another round of tears. "I hope you know... I tried to get you out sooner. I really did. I just... I wasn't strong enough. I am so, so sorry."
He shook his head, squeezing my hands a little in reassurance.
"It's alright. I'm glad I'm getting to see you again."
"Before you let Esther kill you?" Finn's eyebrows shot up, and I pursed my lips. "Elijah told me what you're planning to do, Finn. It's why he called me in the first place. I would've come running no matter what, but none of your siblings would've reached out to me without some other motive. We both know that."
Finn sighed through his nose and shook his head.
"And that is exactly why our time on Earth needs to come to an end. Monstrous behavior like that has become normal for them. For us. It has to stop."
"Does that include me?" Finn's gaze had wandered to other parts of the park, but it snapped back to me at my words. "Your umbrella of monstrous vampire behavior that has to stop. Am I under it just by virtue of being one?"
He sighed, staring down at our joined hands for a long, long time before looking up at me, pain in his eyes.
"I wish I could say no. My heart wants to say no. But... you've lived a long life in the years I've been gone. I don't really know you. Not who you are now."
I looked away, the gears turning in my brain as I nodded thoughtfully. He had a point; I had changed a lot in my 900 years wandering this Earth without him. But I still loved him, and I hadn't changed so drastically that he wouldn't recognize the new me.
"I have an idea," I said, turning back to him with a smile. "Let's go away together. Come back home with me for... a week. Let's get to know each other all over again, and I can show you why I've decided it's worth it to stick around all these hundreds of years. Alright?"
Finn frowned. "I don't know... my mother-"
"Has had her time to make her case. And if you really want to, you can come back here to her whenever you want. But you're my husband, Finn. Nine hundred years, and I've only ever loved you. So now it's my turn."
The barest hint of a smile quirked up the corner of his mouth.
"It seems like you haven't changed much, in a few ways at least."
I grinned. "I didn't need much longer than we had together to get good at telling off pushy family members of yours. The only one who's ever bested me was Klaus, and I don't intend to ever let that happen again. If your mother's trying to walk you off the ledge... she's gonna have to go through me."
Finn sighed, pulling me to my feet with him as he stood. I worried for a second, until his small smile reappeared and he met my eyes.
"Let's go home, then. For a week. Wherever 'home' is for you."
****************
I wasted absolutely no time loading Finn into my car and getting the hell out of town. It was going to be a lot of driving for one day, but it would be worth it. I had no intention of letting any of his family members get in my way. I'd never even had to unpack my bag.
As we left Mystic Falls behind us and pulled onto the highway, I put on my favorite playlist and shot Finn a grin.
"How much have your siblings caught you up on everything you missed over the last nine hundred years?" I asked. Finn frowned and shook his head.
"Very little. Do we really need to be going this fast?"
"Yes," I said, pointedly hitting the accelerator as I got up to speed with the rest of traffic. "Don't worry, I'm a fantastic driver. I promise it's normal and safe."
"Hm." Finn nodded, still looking a little unconvinced, so I reached over to take his hand.
"First lesson on the wonders of life, Finn: Road trips are the best. We've got about four hours to cruise, talk, listen to music, and stop for the most deliciously, bad-for-you food imaginable."
Finn huffed a small laugh. "I suppose that could be fun."
I grinned, cranking up the volume on the song playing, one of my favorites.
"I'll take it!"
****************
Slowly, over the course of the rest of the drive, Finn loosened up a little. He'd always been the most formal and reserved of his siblings, but when we were together, he'd always relaxed around me. This time, it took a little longer to get there, but around the second hour he started laughing at my stupid jokes and asking questions about things he saw that he found interesting. By the time I pulled up in front of my house a few hours later, he had a smile on his face and the tension had mostly eased out of his shoulders.
"How long have you lived here?" he asked, eyes surveying the house as I grabbed my unused bag out of the backseat.
"Oh, probably close to a decade. I've had the house for a lot longer than that, but I move in and out pretty regularly, since it would be obvious to my neighbors after a while that I'm not aging."
Finn nodded thoughtfully. "And does that ever bother you? The constant moving, the lying. The leaving."
"Sometimes," I said with a shrug. "But I like traveling and exploring the world. This way, I get to do that while also having a home to come back to after everything. It's more often than not been the best of both worlds for me."
"Hm. And do I need to be invited in?"
I grinned. "Nope! The house is mine. Unlike your siblings and quite a few other vampires, I haven't spent my eternity making enemies, so at least so far I haven't needed to keep other vampires out."
Finn chuckled, and the sound made a warm feeling grow in my chest. He looked happy, and seeing him glowing as he walked towards the front door of the place I called home was exactly the thing I'd been dreaming of for 900 years.
As if on-cue to interrupt my moment, my phone rang. I glanced at it to find Elijah's number staring back at me and huffed a sigh.
"Finn, would you mind taking my bag inside? I need to take this."
"Of course, my love." He gave me a soft smile as he took my bag, then headed for the front door. I watched him for an extra second, the fading light of twilight painting the world in a soft glow, then answered my phone with a sigh.
"What do you want, Elijah?" I said, not bothering with a hello. I turned my back to Finn and walked a few steps away, hoping he'd be too focused on the house to listen in on my conversation with his brother. I didn't want anything messing up our week away, especially not family drama.
"Where is Finn?" Elijah asked, his tone a bit demanding. I narrowed my eyes.
"Why do you need to know?"
"Because, as I remember mentioning to you, he's in the middle of trying to plot with our mother to kill all of us. I'd like to be aware of his location and progress for my own sake, and the sake of my family."
"Finn is family, and family you left rotting in a box for nine hundred years," I spat. I took a deep breath, getting my anger slightly more under control, then continued. "Finn is with me. I'm going to spend some time with my husband, thank you very much, and hopefully throughout the course of that I'm going to convince him it's worth telling your mother to go to hell to stay here with me. Our goals are aligned in keeping Finn from letting your mother destroy your entire family, Elijah, and that knowledge is just going to have to be good enough for you. We're supposed to be family, too, so you at least owe me that."
I hung up before Elijah could get another word in. I shoved my phone back into my pocket, then took a couple deep breaths before finally turning back around to head into the house. I was going to enjoy my week with Finn, and I was not going to let anyone get in our way.
I wandered inside to find Finn just sort of standing in the middle of the room, looking around. I showed him around and helped him get settled, and the two of us spent the night the same way we'd spent the drive, talking and telling stories and catching up after being apart.
We made dinner together, and I introduced Finn to the wonders of boxed mac 'n cheese before convincing him to sit down and watch my favorite Disney movie with me. It was late, so we went to bed right after the first one, but Finn seemed to enjoy it enough that he'd probably want to watch more after we got some rest.
For the first time in a long time, I drifted off with the comfort of Finn next to me, alive and well. I was determined to do whatever it took to avoid losing him ever, ever again.
****************
The next week felt like heaven on Earth. Finn and I quickly fell into a new, easy, happy routine together, exploring the place I'd called home for so long during the day (while also getting him more caught up on the modern world) and watching ridiculous movies on the couch together long into the night. I didn't want it to end, but I knew that if we disappeared for too long, Esther or one of her other kids would come looking for us. Finn and I needed to settle the issue once and for all, sooner rather than later.
But first, I had one last trick up my sleeve.
"So... we're supposed to go back to Mystic Falls in the morning," I said, leaning my elbows on the counter as I met Finn's eyes across the island. "But there's one more thing that I do as a regular part of my vampire life that I'm going to keep doing, no matter what. Fortunately for both of us, I think you might like it too."
Finn raised an eyebrow, and I gave him a soft smile before pushing off the island.
"Come on. Follow me."
He did, without hesitation. I tried to hide just how much that made me smile.
Finn and I walked from the house deeper into the downtown area, where people still walked back and forth despite the late hour. Finn carefully took in all our surroundings as I led him along, falling back into my normal routine.
As an immortal with superstrength, superspeed, and mind control, I was safe walking around at night basically no matter what. But also as a woman, I remembered plenty of times where I hadn't been safe. Or where I would've been in serious trouble if I hadn't had superpowers on my side. So, on a regular basis, and even more often when I started feeling down about being a vampire, I walked around at night acting as an avenging shadow, making sure any woman I came across got home safe. Crime rates tended to drop, at least for a little while, in whatever city I lived in and various muggers realized they had a real-life, superpowered Batman going after anybody trying to hurt people in the shadows.
I ducked into a dark alleyway, and Finn followed me, still looking curious. I smiled at him, then explained what I'd been doing for the past 900 years. As I spoke, a smile appeared on his face and steadily grew to a beaming pride I hadn't seen since our first few years together.
"That is... an excellent idea," he said, still looking at me like I'd hung the moon. I smiled back.
"Thank you. I've been back here long enough that I don't think we'll find too many things to put a stop to tonight, but... what do you say we look anyway?"
Finn nodded. "I'll follow you."
I took Finn's hand and pulled him along with me down the rest of the alleyway, ducking into the nearest bar on the other side. After grabbing a few drinks and compelling a few leering men to change their behavior, we popped back out onto the street to clear the next place.
Finn and I worked like a charm together, like we'd been working as a team for the last 900 years instead of just me by myself. Although the city was fairly safe, we still found plenty of ways to make an impact, and had a blast together going from place to place too. When we finally went back home around two in the morning, we were both laughing, and I swear Finn seemed lighter than he had all week.
"Well, that was my pitch," I said, flopping backwards into bed. Another perk of vampire speed was how quickly I could get ready for bed, especially when I was this tired. "I hope you liked it."
"I did. I liked it very much."
"I'm glad." Finn laid down next to me a beat later, and I rolled over to fix him with a smile. "So, how about it, Finn. I say we ditch your mom and the rest of your siblings, like I've been doing for centuries. Live our eternity together, doing good and just being happy. What do you say? Are you with me?"
Finn sighed, his gaze roving over every inch of my face. With every second the silence stretched my stomach churned, worried I'd failed, or that I should've waited until morning to ask, or a thousand different things I should've done differently. Finally, Finn's jaw clenched and he sighed through his nose before bringing his eyes to meet mine.
"I am with you. Always and forever."
I surged forward, rapidly closing the distance between us to wrap Finn in the tightest hug imaginable. After a second he wrapped his arms around me, too, holding me against his chest. I could hear his heartbeat, steadily reminding me he was here with me, and I absolutely never wanted to let go.
"I'll call my mother in the morning," he muttered into my hair, rubbing soothing circles on my back. "Tell her I'm not going to help her. There's too much worth living for, and plenty of ways to exist without being monsters."
"And I'll call Elijah. Tell him you're officially stepping back, and to keep the drama the hell out of our life together once and for all."
Finn chuckled, the sound vibrations rumbling through his chest. With Finn officially here to stay, with me, the way we should've been a long time ago, I felt more at peace than I had in a long, long time. And I was going to make sure nothing ruined that peace, ever again.
Title: Mother, dear
Pairing: Mikael M. x Heretic!Black!Reader, Platonic!Mikaelsons x Heretic!Reader
Warnings: Fluff, Protective!Mikael, Soft!Mikael
Summary: Elena and Co. learn that the Mikaelson's parents are very protective
A/N: I had an idea and ran with it.
Elena let out a scream when a knife flew pass her head and into a werewolf while both Elijah and Klaus looked unfazed. Damon was shocked seeing the wolf drop, it was suppose to be a meeting between Elena and the Originals about letting the human live a normal life. That was until a group of wolves attacked them. Both Elijah and Klaus were vervain and wolfbane while Damon was tied down with vervain ropes and the wolves trying to take Elena to have leverage against Klaus.
"I suggest you let my boys go." Your voice reached their ears, both Elena and Damon was surprised to see you standing in the doorway. You were a 900+ year old vampire and both Elijah's and Klaus's overly protective stepmother.
"Your boys?" The leader wolf questioned looking you over. You looked non-threatening but the two Originals knew better as Mikael wouldn't had married you for no reason.
You were just a Queen's handmaiden back in 1190 when you met the Mikaelsons. You were a woman that had no time for nonsense and Mikael was an over protective father who kinda fell in love again. Mikael had grew overly protective after Freya's death and even more after Henrik's which annoyed Esther seeing Mikael hover over their children.
"Yes. The two Originals." You said as Elena was surprised while Elijah and Klaus groaned if you were in Mystic Falls so was Mikael.
"Look I can care less about a baby vampire and doppelganger. So hand..." You were cut off by a werewolf wrapping a hand around your thoat. Which didn't last long as the wolf fell over dead.
"Do not touch my wife and let my sons go." Mikael growled hand covered in blood. You sighed as much as you loved your husband, you wish he would ease up on your children. You walked over to Elijah and Klaus freeing the two and Elena watched how soft you treated the two.
"Mother....there was no need to bring father." Elijah groaned just laying his head in your lap too tired to fight the vervain in his system.
"Sorry darling but he followed. You know how your father is." You say softly running your fingers though Elijah's hair relaxing the vampire. Klaus also leaned against you feeling just as tired.
Mikael had done everything for his children. Making sure they feed, making sure Esther doesn't find them, always taking on whatever pain they could face. You knew how much of a brute Mikael was before his first born but now.
'The world seemed to stop whenever I first held each of them. I knew I would do anything for them.' Was what Mikael told you when you first asked about his past. Mikael dropped the body and was by you three right away worry settling over his face as he began to look over Klaus since he seemed worst.
"Niklaus? Are you alright? What do you need?"
"For...you to...not baby me." Klaus growled weakly pushing Mikael away. It was always Klaus, Kol, and Rebekah that got of Mikael's over protectiveness. Mikael was unimpressed by Klaus as he lifted the hybrid laying him on the couch.
"I'm sorry....but who are these people?!" Damon asked seeing Elijah being practically being cuddled by you while Mikael rubbed Klaus's back still worried about the hybrid.
"This is our mother Y/N and father Mikael. They have followed me to Mystic Falls no doubt." Elijah said weakly wrapping his arms around your waist groaning in pain. Elena frowned confused as Damon was surprised.
"I thought the Original witch was your mother?"
"Birth mother but no mother of ours due to the whole trying to murder us thing." Klaus huffed feeling a little better and Mikael went to get your sons some blood. Damon couldn't believe what he was seeing both Originals being babied by you. It was odd to Damon since it was clear you were a younger vampire than the Originals, yet here they were treating you like their mother.
"Mother, why have you came?" Elijah asked looking up at you feeling you run your fingers though his hair.
"Your father wanted to help Niklaus and to bring the family together." You said softly looking worried as Elijah closed his eyes. Mikael returned with blood bags and handed you one to feed Elijah. Both Damon and Elena watched surprised and unsure on what to do.
Mikael was angry for one Esther was alive and two the witch treated you like you were nothing but some maid. Of course the siblings watched their father grow more angry with Esther after passing comment the witch made about you. Esther glared at you seeing you sitting with Finn just talking. Since being undaggered Finn hanged around you just like Elijah, both were mama boys.
"I have a announcement." Esther said making herself known to her family ignoring how Mikael glared at her. Everyone looked at the witch unaware of her plan.
"I have decided that we should have a ball. As a family we should show that we mean no harm."
"That means I can take mother shopping!" Rebekah squealed happily standing up and Esther smiled.
"I would love that Rebekah."
"I said mother not you Esther." Rebekah said taking your hand dragging you out of the room with Finn following after. Esther left in a huff angry as in the witch's eyes you stole her family.
--
"Stop messing with your tie love." You say softly fixing your husband's tie looking up at the Viking. Mikael huffed kissing your forehead letting you fix his tie.
"I worry Esther is hiding something." Mikael says moving a hand along your curves. The dress you wore was a deep red and backless, it had a beaded bust and flowy skirt prefect for dancing.
"No worries my love. If she is we will protect the children." You say looping your arm though Mikael's walking out to the ball. You looked out seeing your children with their dates while Esther looked down at everyone.
"Ma, I want you to meet Bonnie. Bonnie my mother Y/N and father Mikael." Kol says smiling as Bonnie shook your hand. You saw how happy Kol looked with the young witch.
"I hope my darling son has been a gentleman."
"Oh...he has ma'am." Bonnie says following your eye sight up to Esther then looked at you seeing you wink at her. Bonnie caught on to your signs to keep an eye out for Esther and it didn't help that the Original witch met with Elena.
--
Murder, Esther wanted to kill her family and was going to do it by linking them together. You couldn't stop it due to the stronger witch taking you out first. Finn pressed a cool clothe to your forehead worry written all over his face.
"How is mother?" Elijah asked walking into the bedroom suit jacket gone along with his tie. You layed in your bed in the thinnest nightgown you owned under just a sheet.
"Weak....she can't keep down blood. How's father?" Finn said sounding tired since he was the one up with you the most other than Elijah.
"Niklaus and Kol had been trying to stop him from rampaging though the town. Rebekah is getting answers from Elena."
"Babies....my sweet boys...if I..." You rasped out making them jump and Finn wiped the sweat from your face.
"Shhhh mother. You will be fine, save your strength. Bonnie will fix this." Elijah says softly brushing your hair from your face. You smiled weakly watching your boys clean up around your room.
--
"I broke the link but as for curing Y/N ...it'll take longer." Bonnie tells Klaus frowning before diving into her grimoire. Klaus looked at Kol worried that Bonnie was over working herself and looked into getting another witch. While Mikael was with Elijah and Finn taking care of Esther.
"How are you feeling mama?" Rebekah asked opening a window to air out the room. You smiled weakly at Rebekah feeling her lay next to you holding your hand.
"A bit better my sweet girl." You whispered breathing slowly making Rebekah frown. You felt your daughter press closer and you knew she was worried.
"I'll be okay, love." You say softly running your fingers though Rebekah's hair relaxing and she began to fall asleep.
--
You woke startled feeling Finn at your back and noticed your other children also in the bed. You felt better and smiled feeling Elijah mumbled in his sleep pressing his face into your abdomen. Klaus was behind Rebekah who was still pressed against your side while Kol was piled onto Elijah.
"They wanted to stay with you." Mikael says leaning over kissing your forehead making you smile.
"Understandable. Where is Esther?" You asked reaching for Mikael's hand feeling happy lacing your fingers with his.
"Dead and hopefully she stays dead." Mikael says rubbing your hand and you both just relaxed watching the siblings sleep. You both just wanted to enjoy the quiet before they woke up.
"Should we tell them?" You asked feeling the siblings press closer squeezing you. Mikael chuckled kissing your hand before looking at your abdomen.
"Later, let's enjoy our moment together."
Title: To Run Afoul of Winter
Word Count: 12,000
Warnings: Casual violence, some language, seasonal depression, segmented flashbacks.
Summary: In your human life you had been born a cripple - a frail, feeble little thing barely clinging to life. It was a miracle you survived long enough to join your siblings in becoming the first vampires. Bouts of what your family called Frost-Sickness kept you bed ridden each winter and despite your twin brother's efforts to cheer you up, life just hardly seemed worth living. When you turned, your body grew stronger, but so did your mental affliction. This is your story. || Mikaelson Family x sibling!reader || Here lies my Masterlist ||
A/N: This was written in like two days of an absolute writing frenzy. I know the request would have preferred Klaus to be the reader's twin but I just couldn't figure that out in my brain. Sorry! I hope you like it anyway. Also, one more thing. This fic is the first official fic of Cassie's Christmas at the Compound 2022 which I'll be kicking off later today as I was too lazy to do it on Dec. 1st. Thanks for being here and supporting my writing. Happy reading!
❄️STORY BEGINS BELOW❄️
Northern Virginia, Viking Colony: December 21st, 998 A.D.
"Sister?" You recognized the speaker instantly - you always had and you always would. Just as one always recognizes their own reflection, you could never forget the voice of your other half.
You didn't say anything in reply, offering a soft hum instead. You didn't feel much like talking.
"We're lighting the bonfires," He continued. "Come along now before you miss all the fun!"
That wasn't really what he'd said all those years ago. No, your native language had long since been lost to time, morphing into a variety of tongues since then. You and your siblings were likely the only ones in the world who still knew it in its pure form - not that you spoke it anymore. You hadn't spoken your native language in so long, not even with each other. There was something lonely about it and the lot of you were already so alone.
Especially you. After all, what did you have besides dreams to keep you company in your most quiet estate? But that was beside the point.
"Really?" You lifted your head from the pile of skins that made up your bed. "They're starting so soon?"
Standing in the doorway, the boy’s dark eyes widened in alarm that quickly faded into concern. "Y/N…" He began cautiously. "What day do you think it is?"
You had thought about that. Of course, you should have known something so trivial yet so vital to your livelihood but keeping track of the days seemed like such an exhausting chore. Akin to many things lately.
"Is it not eleven days to winter?" You asked, tilting your head. Then again, the village was lighting bonfires… but no, you couldn't have been Frost Sick for seventeen days! That was absurd.
Your twin's lips pressed into a thin line - they did that when he was worried and that was how you knew it must have been serious. For Kol son of Mikael was so rarely a worried soul.
The boy shook his head. "Y/N, it's the first day of Year's End - of bonfire season…" His voice thinned, close to breaking. "The harvest is plentiful, the moon is waning, and Odin smiles upon us. Can you not abate the sickness but one evening? Will you not join us?" He entreated you. "Will you not join me?" And oh how your twin had cherished the season so. Always first to cast his wish into the flames, always the first to dance, always the first to smile and laugh like the boy he had been so long, long ago.
You didn't want to disappoint him, but you felt so weak. The chill of the evening air pricked at your skin and bones, threatening to sink into your very soul. "I-I don't-"
"Please, sister? Bring your blankets with you if you must, just please come celebrate?" Your brother begged. His eyes were once wide with innocence, love, concern, and yearning. His eyes didn't look like that anymore. For long since had darkness shrouded them, rendering their pine-bark depths as hollow and empty as this memory that you sought comfort in. The boy standing before you in your dream was naught but an illusion. Your twin had perished in the dark, alone and frightened, in years left to history long since forgotten.
And the creation that had taken his place?
You weren't entirely sure who he belonged to. For certainly he was your sweet, fun-loving, intuitive brother often enough but from time to time the bloodlust consumed him entirely and that creature was not one you recognized. He was not your twin.
Just so with all your siblings, if you were honest. They all had faded away - shells of the family you knew and adored. Animosity had grown between each of them. All except you.
"Y/N?" His voice called to you again. Oh, how you missed the innocence in it.
You lifted your head, clutching your blankets as you stood on frail, trembling, legs. "Coming! I'm coming, brother."
The boy grinned and raced out the door. You followed him eagerly despite your limp. Passing under the arched doorway of your family's hovel, you found the scene outside blurred and out of focus. You blinked and your vision sharpened, although now you were no longer standing just outside your home.
Northern Virginia, Viking Colony: October 31st, 988 A.D.
You were kneeling on a patch of frost-covered grass in front of a pile of wood stacked haphazardly. Kol knelt beside you and the sky overhead was bleak and gray.
"Show me again, brother," You demanded, buzzing with excitement, though you couldn't quite remember what for. "Please show me it again? I want to see."
"Y/N, you know father hates it," He said, frowning.
"Father isn't here and I won't tell him," You argued. "Please, Kol?"
"I don't know…"
Your voice quieted. "You're the only one that can help me," You insisted. "The Frost Sickness tugs at the edges of my mind even now. Your light is the only thing that keeps it at bay."
"Alright," He conceded with a sigh. "Just don't let it touch the firewood."
You nodded eagerly and held out your hands. Kol rubbed his own together vigorously before moving them close to his lips.
"Incendia," He whispered. A spark burst in the air before his lips with a splitting crack and before long, bright orange flames leaped between his fingers. Some in your village whispered that Kol was cursed but you didn't believe them. Your brother was blessed by Frigga with the gift that was magic and he was brilliant in his craft. The boy grinned and glanced up at you. His eyes seemed lighter then, like a sunset. "Ready?"
"Yes," You breathed, still in awe of your brother's magic. This was not the first you'd seen of it but it still amazed you all the same. "Yes, I'm ready."
Kol offered you another sweet smile. Shuffling a little closer, he gathered the fire in his hands before tilting them and letting it pour into your waiting palms. The flames flickered and danced, licking your fingers as they sent wave after wave of warmth radiating through your body and soul. You sighed. The magical fire burned away the creepings of your Frost Sickness, postponing it a little longer. You were lucky to have a twin like Kol for only the flames of his witchcraft could assist you with your illness.
You memorized his face then, the innocent, joyous, impishly youthful smile on his cheeks and in his eyes cast in the warm glow of the fire held in your palms. He hadn't smiled like that in so long. So, so long.
Northern Virginia, Viking Colony: March 31st, 989 A.D.
Left to your reverie only a moment, the scene before you shifted once again. It was spring, glorious spring all around you. The flowers were in bloom, the trees burst with leaves, and you were once again awake - wide awake. Crossing a bubbling brook with the confident leaps of a small child, undeterred by your bad leg, you admired the beauty of the moss-covered stones you employed as your bridge before continuing on to explore the forest.
Along with having been born frail, you had also been born with a bad leg. The bones were a little misshapen and it couldn't support your weight. Ayana - the village's healer and foremost practitioner of magic, had fashioned you a splint to help you walk, and you had since refused to let it slow you down. Niklaus had carved for you a walking stick for balance and though you couldn't run, you could skip with the proficiency of a stone on a smooth lake. You danced between the trees as you chased a beautiful butterfly through the brush when a nearby shout brought you to a swift halt.
"Y/N!" That was the voice of your eldest brother, Finn. He didn't sound very pleased. Although, then again, Finn was rather easy to upset.
"Be gentle, Finn." A different voice chastened. Elijah. "Y/N! Come out, little one!"
This, of course, only prompted you to duck behind a tree to hide as the footsteps of your brothers drew ever nearer.
"Y/N!" Finn called again, attempting to sound a little less stern. "I swear, that child and her tvíburi are creations of Loki."
"You had best hope not," Elijah advised. "If either of them grow to be any more clever or cunning, then I fear we'll never be able to find them."
You couldn't help the giggle that left your lips at his statement as you were rather flattered by his praise. Their footsteps began to fade a moment later and you peered out from your hiding spot to check.
"GOTCHA!" Without warning, two arms wrapped around you from behind and hoisted you into the air. You shrieked in surprise but soon began to laugh as you realized that it was Elijah who had captured you. He smiled warmly. "Hello, little one."
"How did you find me?" You wined, pouting a little.
"Simple," Finn supplied. "We merely listened for the sound of complete disobedience and followed that."
Elijah sighed. "Finn…"
"No, brother. She needs to be taught," Finn said. He rounded on you again. "What were you thinking, running off on your own like that? Do you have any idea what could have happened? You could have gotten lost! You could have died!"
"B-but I was chasing pretty butterfly," You whimpered, beginning to tear up.
"I don't care what you were doing!" Finn shouted. "Do you know what a wolf would do if it found you? Or Odin forbid - a bear? It would have-"
"Enough, Finn!" Elijah demanded. "That's enough!"
"Is it?" Your eldest brother argued. "Is she too young to understand the danger her frailty will bring to all of us? You know how mother worries about her. Tell me, Elijah - look at her! Is she not so very light to carry?"
"She is but a child," Elijah sighed. He knew Finn spoke the truth. You had been born small. Even now, you were hardly more than half the weight of your twin brother.
"Rebekah is younger and yet she is heartier still and more stable on her feet." Finn stepped closer, lowering his voice. "You and Niklaus were always so fond of her. But how long do you really think Y/N will last - afflicted as she is? By tradition, Father should have left her to the gods."
You did not understand his words at the time. But no matter what Finn said, you weren't afraid. Finn liked to worry - he never wanted you to do anything - but Elijah, you knew, would always protect you. Nothing bad would ever happen as long as Elijah was there. And even as a child, you knew he always would be.
Elijah stood up a little straighter. "He tried if you recall. He left her in the woods all the night long but the forest would not take her. A fox and vixen stood guard over her until morning; small as she is, they deemed her worthy."
Finn didn't reply, or if he did, you didn't hear. You were far too busy watching a robin make its nest not far away until Elijah spoke to you again.
"Y/N, might you happen to know where your troublesome tvíburi is?"
"Noooooooo…." You lied. You absolutely knew where he was - you always did.
"I think you do," Elijah coaxed, poking you in the ribs. Giggling, you shook your head.
"I don't, though."
"He's probably attempting to burn one of our neighbor's homes to the ground," Finn suggested with a sigh.
Elijah sent you a questioning look and you shook your head again.
"No!"
"Or torturing some innocent animal…"
"No, we're doing that tomorrow."
"Or hiding everyone's left boot…"
You giggled. Now, that was a fond, fond memory. It took Sven two days to find his boot and by that time he already had a foot full of splinters.
"Or putting worms in someone's pillow - likely mine…"
"Couldn't find any worms - they're still sleeping," You replied with a shrug.
"Or-"
"Alright! I'll tell you!" You finally huffed, rolling your eyes. "But don't tell Father."
"You have my word," Elijah promised before Finn could say anything. Your eldest brother had some annoying traits but he wouldn't make a liar out of Elijah.
"Kol is making protection wards for Henrick and for everyone so bad things won't happen to us," You informed them in a whisper - this was a secret after all.
"Why is he making them, little sister?" Elijah wondered.
You just shrugged. "I know not. He said something about having a bad dream last night."
"I see, and what's that little miscreant got you doing?" Finn asked.
"Picking berries," You answered simply. Elijah let you down and you took each brother by the hand as they began walking back towards the village.
"Berries? Why?"
"Snacks!" You chirped. Then you tugged on their hands. "Swing me!" You commanded, bringing your knees up. Finn rolled his eyes but both your siblings caved to your demands, swinging you back and forth between them as they walked you home.
Northern Virginia, Viking Colony: November 10th 1000 A.D.
When the world shifted yet again, you were met with a familiar blackness. The furs of your bed brushed over your skin and the midsummer night was warm and wet though the cool draft breezing through the cave made it rather pleasant. Light from the full moon shone down through a crack in the ceiling overhead but you didn't mind - you liked the nightlight. The rustling of blankets sounded on your right and before long, the dark outline of one of your siblings was creeping its way toward the mouth of the cave. You sat up and pursued as silently as you could in spite of your limp. Though you tried your best, the walking stick Nik had carved for you clacked against the stone floor, alerting whoever was sneaking out to your presence. Still, you waited until you were out of earshot of the rest of your family to speak up.
"Where are you going?" You hissed into the dark, unsure who was doing the sneaking. The figure froze.
"Go back to sleep, Y/N," Niklaus's voice whispered back.
You stepped closer. "Nik? What are you up to?"
"Nothing." His response was too quick to be the truth. "Don't worry about it. Just return to your dreams."
"But I do worry about you, Niklaus," You said. "I know you admire the wolves - I can feel your curiosity." You had always been in tune with the thoughts and emotions of those around you. Sensing them came rather naturally to you, just as spellcasting came so easily to Kol. Somehow Niklaus's emotions had always been the most vibrant of all your siblings and his thoughts the easiest to read. It was probably why the two of you were so close.
"Your magic is growing stronger then?" Nik tried to change the subject but you didn't fall for it, knowing what weighed on his mind. You stepped closer, tilting your head.
"You feel like somehow… you belong with them… as if you're meant to be up there running with the pack." Your brows furrowed and your mouth twisted into a frown. Your eyes grew unfocused and your voice took on a droning quality. "Running. Yes, running. Running underneath the moon and the stars but not the sun. Running. Yes, running on and on forever… always and forever. Running. Running for eternity. Running wild, running scared, running hungry, running blind. Running cursed. Yes, we'll all be running cursed…"
"Y/N?" Niklaus jabbed your shoulder. When that didn't stop your mumbling, he took hold of your shoulders and gave you a firm shake. "Y/N, snap out of it!"
You blinked, shaking your head. Then you looked up. It wasn't odd for you to have visions. You had quite a few of them while your brother had only ever received maybe one or two. Most were rather mundane or just complete rubbish but every so often you would be privy to a glimpse into the future. This night had been one such time, though you hadn't realized the true extent of your visions' significance. You remembered this night. Yes, you remembered it all too well. It was but one year to the day that your mother cursed you all.
"Niklaus, do you not love me?" You asked suddenly, feeling tears prick your eyes.
"What? Of course, I do!" He insisted. "Why ask such a ridiculous question?"
"Because you feel like you belong with them - with the wolves," You explained. "But I don't want you to be with them. I want you to be here with me… and Finn, and Elijah, and Kol, and Rebekah, and Henrick. I don't want you to go and replace me."
Niklaus smiled fondly, reaching out to ruffle your hair. "Oh, sweet little sister… How could I ever replace you?"
"With a dog," You muttered.
He shook his head. "A dog can't find the perfect flowers to make paint out of - not like you can. I love you, Y/N. I'll always love you."
"Then don't sneak out to see the wolves," You pleaded. "They hurt someone tomorrow… or yesterday… I don't know. Can't remember the order. " The events were all jumbled up in your head. Past, present, and future all existed simultaneously and you had no way to distinguish which one was which.
"Did you have a vision?" He demanded. You nodded.
"Things change when you go," You told him. "Wait a little longer? I want one more bonfire season before this era comes to an end."
It wasn’t his fault that he didn’t understand what your words or your prophecy had meant - you hardly understood them yourself most times and the rest of your siblings stopped trying. Not that it mattered anymore. You no longer had visions, no longer cast spells nor drew wards. It wasn’t long after that night that everything fell apart. Henrick died and your mother cursed your family and everything - everyone - fell apart.
Finn lost himself to self-loathing. He became as winter itself - cold and distant. Though you tried to reconnect with him, it seemed to you as though that was the last thing he wanted.
Outskirts of Rome, Italy: May, 18th 1156
It was summer if your recollection served - your recollection of the last moments you spent alone with him before Niklaus decided he was a danger to himself and the rest of you, that was. You had sought him out that afternoon. You were the only one to do so as the rest of your siblings had given up attempting to include him.
But that wasn’t you.
It was how you and your twin were different. Kol had always been a bit of a flake, however, he was an extremely prudent one, to his credit. He would come at a problem a thousand different ways, but would never try the same solution twice. On the other hand, you liked things simple and direct and knew that sometimes a problem requires tenacity. You just hadn’t been ready to let go of Finn. Abrasive as he was, you loved him.
“Do you mind if I join you, brother?” You asked, having finally found him. He sat leaning against the base of a mighty oak tree at the edge of a summer meadow. The grass was bright green and the sky a brilliant blue - it was your favorite time of the year.
Finn glanced up, his expression unguarded as it was, displaying a lost sort of melancholy. “I suppose you may,” He said. You smiled and sat down beside him, leaning your head on his shoulder. You were still so small for your age. Despite having turned eighteen merely a week before Henrick died, your appearance could pass for that of a fifteen-year-old. You looked more like Henrick’s twin than Kol’s.
“What are you doing all the way out here?” You wondered, watching the white puffy clouds drift overhead.
Finn shrugged. “Just… sitting quietly,” He replied. He did this quite often, though you were more inclined to think of it as wallowing in self-pity. Not that you would say that out loud. The last thing Finn needed was more mockery, though your siblings didn’t seem to see that. Finn was a bit more like you it seemed. Your family and village had always called it Frost-Sickness, though as the world developed and greater advancements were made in the realm of medicine, you came to discover in later years that your condition was labeled Seasonal Depression. It was a sickness of the mind rather than the body and saw to it that your moods were more heavily influenced by the weather than those of other people.
Thus, Finn you figured, must have been a bit like you. Except the rain cloud which hovered over his head was not quite as severe and certainly less predictable. Though it didn’t leave him bedridden as it did you, his bouts of sadness came and went as they pleased and when they came they drew him further and further away from his siblings.
“What about you?” Finn asked, fiddling with a branch he’d picked up off the ground. “Why are you here, sister?”
You shrugged. “Kol can be really loud sometimes,” You said simply.
Finn hummed his agreement, nodding. “That he can.”
“There are days when I find it impressive,” you admitted, voice pensive. “but today is not one of those days.” You planned to continue adding elements to your reasoning until you won a laugh from him. You were the only one of your siblings who could make Finn laugh. “And then Niklaus joins him and you know how those two get when they drink together so may God have mercy on that poor, poor, tavern -” Finn huffed, rolling his eyes. “Then, bloody hell, I don’t know whose idea it was to invent Pub Archery but let's hope it doesn’t catch on, otherwise Italy will have gained a new sport and we’ll have to listen to those two gloat about it for the rest of the century.”
“Pub Archery?” Your brother questioned, raising a brow.
You nodded. “Indeed.”
“Dare I ask?”
“Well, the rules are dubious at best but from what I can tell, a mug of ale is placed on a table halfway between the wall and wherever the player is standing. A bow and an arrow with a mid-sized hook affixed to the shaft are given to whoever is currently in play. Apparently, Kol has officially dubbed this position “the Arse in Question” - he was very clear about that when explaining the game to me.” You shrugged and continued. “Anyway, the Arse in Question then attempts to send the arrow through the handle of the mug, while doing their best to ensure that the fish hook catches on the handle as the arrow passes through it. Their goal is to lodge the arrow in the wall with the mug of ale still on it. If the mug is still somewhat full by the time the Arse in Question can make his or her way over to it then they are awarded the proper number of points and they have to drink whatever is left. Three points for a full pint, two points for half-full, and one point for a quarter pint. Now if the mug falls off, or the arrow fails to remain in the wall, then the Arse in Question loses five points.”
Finn frowned, slightly confused. “And what if the… bowman were to miss the mug on the table completely?”
“Well, in that case, he takes a shot.”
Your brother rolled his eyes. “When does this game - if it can be called that - end?”
“I haven’t the faintest,” You shrugged, shaking your head. “Though, so far I think it may be with whoever is the first to pass out. According to Rebekah, there’s a fifteen-point penalty for fainting, so I’d assume at least competitive play ends after that. I didn’t stick around long enough to inquire further. I value my eyes.”
“Smart decision,” He said with an approving nod. “And does Elijah know of this latest depraved scheme?”
You sent him a look. “Elijah’s the self-appointed referee,” You deadpanned. Your second eldest brother liked to believe he had some maturity and admittedly he had more than you, Kol, Nik, or Bekah, but it really wasn’t much.
“He approves?” Your bother asked in slight disbelief.
“Elijah’s responsibility is a facade. What is a wall of stone to outsiders, we know to be a bride’s veil,” You said sagely, nodding solemnly.
And finally, finally, Finn laughed. It had been years since you had heard him laugh. It was a soft chuckle, not much at all, but it was there and you knew better than most that sometimes that’s the best someone can give.
“You make a fine point, little one,” Finn mused, patting your hand. “Would you like me to talk some sense into them?”
You snorted. “Right. Good luck with that, mikill göltur.” You gestured lazily with a few reeds you had plucked and were now playing with absently. “By all means, go right ahead; although, I must warn you that the aroma of that establishment is a fine shade of brown.”
Your eldest brother grimaced at your description. “I see. In that case, I think I’ll leave Elijah to deal with them.” He leaned back against the tree, folding his arms behind his head.
“You should go see that Sage woman again,” You prompted, entirely out of the blue. It amused you to see the blush that covered your eldest brother’s cheeks at your suggestion. He was fond of her.
“W-what on earth makes you say that?” He sputtered, casting his gaze pointedly to the sky.
“She makes you happy,” You answered, plain and simple. That was who you were, plain and simple. “I like seeing my siblings happy - all of them.” With that, you tossed your creation - a corsage woven from wildflowers - into his lap and hopped to your feet. “Now go see her!” You commanded, nudging his knee with your foot.
He sat up. “Perhaps I will.”
“Good!” You turned and began to skip away.
“But only if you talk to that blacksmith lad!” Finn called after you. You froze. Whipping around on your heel, you gaped, staring at him with wide E/C eyes. He just shrugged, smug as could be.
That was the last you saw of your eldest brother. Nik put a dagger in his heart and then there were five.
Now, Elijah on the other hand, was not Finn. They were radically different and Elijah got lost in his own way.
See, Elijah was hungry and he killed Tatia. He killed his love and the grief consumed him. He became so obsessed with somehow making it right as if keeping his hands clean from then on could somehow remove the stain of her blood. You knew what he’d done and you didn’t blame him but through the next hundred years and on it almost seemed to you as though he forgot. It was odd, but you chose not to bring it up; perhaps that was a mistake on your part. So it was that instead of drawing away from you and your siblings, Elijah drew closer. He viewed it as his responsibility to watch over the family and keep everyone together. What Elijah could not see, however, was that some things are simply fated to fall apart.
Somewhere Off the Coast of Cadiz, Spain: June 22nd, 1730
Five hundred years after you spoke to Finn beneath that tree in Italy, you found yourself in front of Elijah in the somewhat damp confines of a cargo hold in a ship just off the coast of Cadiz, Spain. Behind him stood two caskets and inside one of them was your twin brother, immobilized and in excruciating agony. You could practically feel the dagger in your own chest yet Elijah refused to let you free him.
“Move aside, Elijah!”
“I’ve said no and my answer is final,” Your brother repeated. “Kol will remain as he is until such a time as Father is half the world behind us. Only then will we risk reviving him.”
“That’s not fair!” You argued.
“Oh I do believe it is,” He countered, crossing his arms and looking down at you. He was much taller than you were. “It was Kol’s mass slaughter in Cadiz that led Father right to us and clearly nothing you or I have said to him has made an impact.This was never my first course of action, Y/N. But until you should devise some other more prudent method to disway your brother from devouring the entire town, I’m afraid this is how things must be. He. Must. Learn. Control.”
You rolled your eyes and huffed, long since tired of his condemnations and hypocrisy - intentional or not. “He’s our brother and for the millionth time, Elijah: That’s not the problem! It’s not his fault if he can’t control it, because you lot have never given him a reason to!”
“That is preposterous and you know it,” He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Do I?” You demanded. “It’s always you, Rebekah, and Niklaus. That Always and Forever pact - that was you three. It wasn’t us! I knew that you would make it before you did and yet nether of us were a part of it! Whenever the three of you do something, you never think to invite him along. The few times you and Nik actually ask all of us to vote on a decision, you don’t give our opinions half the weight you give to Rebekah’s.”
Elijah frowned and held up a hand to stop you. “That is not remotely true. I view each-”
“No, you don’t,” You hissed, fighting the tears pooling in your eyes. “You hardly even notice us when we’re in the room with you, unless one of us is shouting and if either of us leaves, you might as well forget we exist entirely! I remember one time when Kol just up and left - said he was going to catch one of the bloody crusades.” You laughed but there wasn’t much humor in it. “He was gone for five and a half months and you didn’t even notice!”
“I did notice, actually.”
You glared at him. “I distinctly recall you commenting about how quiet it was one morning, after he’d been away three months. I told you he left. You were surprised and then you went right back to your book; you didn’t even ask where he’d gone!”
“I suppose I would have if such a question mattered, but unfortunately, Kol can look after himself,” Elijah said in disdain. You were aware that Elijah had carried a grudge towards Kol since the day the two of you were born. Though he’d never said it out loud, he’d always thought of your twin as a leach because he’d been born strong and you had been so frail. “He excels at it.”
“Because you don’t care to do the job!” You exclaimed. “You discount our opinions and refuse to see either of us as anything more than children. I mean, you hardly so much as look at me unless I’m attempting something you deem too dangerous. I hardly dare speak to a boy, even if he’s naught but a servant, lest I ensure that Niklaus shall orchestrate some awful accident to befall the poor lad. Both me and Kol - you see us only as another burden you bear and you ignore any attempt we make to change your mind.”
Aside from Kol, all your siblings had always seen you as weak and in need of protection - Elijah most of all. His eyes narrowed and he looked over you with scrutiny.
“Always so quick to defend him,” He huffed. “If what you claim is true, then how have you mastered the control he so completely lacks?”
“It’s different for me,” You insisted. “My magic was different.”
“How was it different?”
You bit your lip, mulling over your answer. You wanted to get this right, wanted to make him understand that the bloodthirsty monster he condemned was merely a prison and that your sweet, bubbly twin brother was locked somewhere deep inside.
“My magic was more constant, I think,” You started, speaking slowly. “You must understand brother, magic wasn’t just something Kol and I did; it was something we were, it was a part of us, but I think we each felt it in a different way. He was so good at spell casting - at manifesting his very will into reality. I was always better at seeing, sensing, feeling, and just knowing the thoughts and emotions of everyone - everything - around me. My magic was a blanket, a quiet comforting reassurance that I wasn’t alone and that nature was looking out for me.” That loss still weighed on your soul every single day. You sighed but continued anyway, “But for Kol I think it was more like water. He’s always hated feeling helpless, and for him, I think magic meant that there was always something he could do to fight back.”
“Fight back?” He questioned. Your expression grew grim, eyes darkening.
“Against Father,” You said. “You know Father hated Niklaus most but Kol was always the next he would hit. Magic wasn’t a luxury for Kol - it was his survival. When he first tapped into it, our brother knocked Mikael flat on his ass - Kol earned Father’s respect. For him magic was a thrill, a lightning excitement, power, and reassurance, both a sword and a shield, and a bonfire wish - it was everything. It was like water - and like water, its absence consumes him. He tells me often now that it’s much too quiet. He can’t stand the silence - the vulnerability maddens him. He didn’t mean to bring Mikael upon us… He fears father more than you know.”
“And you do not?” Elijah challenged, regarding you strangely. Again you thought about your answer.
“No,” You decided after a moment. Your brother frowned, shaking his head.
“You are not such a fool as that, lítil víx,” He said with a disapproving gaze. He called you little vixen - the fox’s, smaller, swifter, and wiser counterpart.
He turned to leave the cargo hold, knowing you would not disobey him, but you whipped around and caught his sleeve.
“I do not fear him as much as I once did,” You amended, looking your brother dead in the eyes. “Father fears death, he always has though I did not see it then. Knowing that what he fears is so common, so natural, and so inevitable a thing, my fear of him has dwindled. I think I more pity him now than I fear him. For how very sad it is that he hunts us with no other purpose than to destroy that which reared into being. How very sad it is that he disregards the exuberant beauty all around him in favor of his hatred. How very sad indeed.”
Your second eldest brother blinked, taking a moment to completely process what you’d said. “I suppose you’re right,” He said slowly, nodding. Then he frowned. “Do you not fear death, Y/N?”
You smiled softly. “Oh, I wouldn’t say that.” You glanced towards the coffin that would imprison your twin brother for far, far, too long. “But I do not fear it as Mikael did, nor as Esther did. I anticipate it, I think. I anticipate it as one anticipates the surprises a new day might bring. Good or bad - it’s a new experience; though it shall certainly be nice to be free of the Frost-Sickness, I think. However that may be.”
Your brother considered your words but you knew they would not change his mind. For your family was frozen in body and mind and that was how you would remain for the rest of eternity. You were as eighteen then as you’d been one hundred years before… Well, perhaps you were slightly more. Each year only seemed to make you stronger, faster, sharper, and more eighteen. Time was the seal of your mother’s spell. Immortality polarized.
“I know you miss him, Y/N,” Elijah said with a heavy sigh. “But this is for the best.”
You hung your head and nodded, allowing the tears in your eyes to spill down your cheeks freely for a little while. Your older brother reached out and brought you into his embrace, letting you cry as long as you needed. “Then I have just one request, if you’ll grant it,” You proposed, voice chipping like the stained glass windows of cathedrals you so dearly loved.
“What is it, little one?”
“Don’t wake him while I’m sleeping?” You sniffed. “I don’t want him to be sad.”
“You have my word, lítil víx,” He promised.
Then there were four.
It wasn’t that you forgave Elijah. No, that would take time. Rather you simply could never bring yourself to hate any of your siblings. Not even Niklaus. As much pain as he caused, as much terror as he sewed, and as much paranoia as he reaped, you could never bring yourself to hate your dearest artist. Bastard, hybrid, abomination - none of those labels ever phased you because he was still the quiet, loving brother who painted you flowers when you were Frost-Sick.
It didn’t matter to you that he had killed your mother.
You loved him anyway.
London, England: October 16th, 1702
“I see your skill with a brush is improving, Nik!” You declared, flouncing into the second-floor study that your brother had commandeered as his studio. “You have perfectly captured the Siberian tundra. Congratulations. Though, your depiction might have been better had you simply left the canvas as you found it.” You smirked to yourself, rather satisfied with your wit, as you reclined in the overstuffed chair you dragged into the room behind you.
Niklaus let go of a long sigh and returned the brush he was working with to a basin of water he kept beside him. When he spoke, he did not turn to address you.
“May I ask what I did to warrant myself deserving of such bite from my littlest sister?” He asked, calm and fluid. He wasn’t in a good mood - you could tell. Thus you wanted to stay all the more. Perhaps you could cheer each other up.
“I am not even that short,” You stated. Niklaus tossed a different brush, still covered in paint, over his shoulder, aimed for your face. You lept to dodge it with a giggle. “Secondly, it’s the season - I simply can’t help it.”
It was autumn in the city of London and the year was 1702, only a hand full of years before your family relocated to Cadiz and then later, New Orleans. Autumn was a difficult time of year for you as it was when the Frost-Sickness began to take hold. It had only grown worse since your transition into a creature of the night, just as everything about you had been enhanced. Though the Frost-Sickness could no longer afflict you with illness as it had when you were human - keeping you bedridden or even unconscious for days or weeks at a time - it could now do arguably worse.
As autumn came, you could feel your mind and body begin to weaken. You felt frayed and tired and uncomfortable in a body that had for too long remained unchanged. You felt the loss of your magic so much more keenly and the loneliness that caused was far too acute. As the season wore on, it would only grow worse until you knew only misery. At that point, the silver daggers Niklaus had kept seemed like mercy, and without Kol’s magic to keep your head above water, you had willingly begged for their employ. They were your only escape from the pain that came with winter.
“Oh, how tragic,” Klaus remarked. You could practically hear him rolling his eyes. “Where’s your twin?”
“On a bender,” You deadpanned.
Nik huffed. “Figures. Go annoy him. I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to entertain you.”
You gasped in full shock. “Nik! How could you say that?”
“Simple. I pass air between my lips - like this!” He twisted around and stuck his tongue out at you.
You continued, unbothered. “I do not annoy, brother. I berate. There’s a difference.”
“An impressive distinction, to be sure.”
“And yes, I am sure Kol would love to entertain me if he were not otherwise preoccupied entertaining someone else.”
Klaus groaned. “What’s he done now and do I need to dagger him for it?”
“Please don’t make me think about it longer than necessary, but no.” You frowned, shuddering.
“Now you have to tell me,” Your older brother grinned.
“I’m pretty sure he’s endevoring to sleep with the entire female population of London.”
“...Wow.”
“Indeed.”
He whistled and returned to working on that painting of his. “Well, you have to admire his audacity if nothing else,” Nik chuckled.
You made a noise that was certainly anything but ladylike, followed by a gesture that was far worse. “I absolutely do not have to admire any aspect of him!” You exclaimed. You had hoped Klaus would have been just slightly more decent - if only for the sake of propriety. “He may be a strumpet of a man, but I am not. I am a lady.”
“I don’t see why this upsets you so,” He hummed, shaking his head.
You huffed. “Because unfortunately, I am also his genetic copy. Therefore - technically speaking - if he’s slept with them, then I’ve slept with them! Which, admittedly, wouldn’t bother me if this were not the absolute bloody cesspool that is the bloody city of London!”
You’d expected him to laugh, and he did just a little bit, but it wasn’t nearly what you wanted. Dirty jokes almost always cheered Nik up and hearing him laugh never failed to make you laugh. Peering over his shoulder, you caught a glimpse of gray fur. He was painting wolves again.
“Must be nice,” He mused a while later, having left you to silence for over a half hour.
“What?”
“Having a twin as you do,” He explained, voice wistful and far away. “Having someone you belong with completely, a reflection of yourself you know could not betray you nor abandon you any than the sea can abandon the shore. Must be nice.”
“Its not all bliss,” You reminded him, sitting up in your chair. “Kol still agrivates the living daylights out of me.”
“Such is the nature of being Kol.”
You nodded but said nothing, allowing him a moment with his thoughts before you asked the question he so desperately wanted to hear. “What’s wrong Niklaus?”
He sighed, though it sounded broken.
“Do you ever miss our mother, Y/N?” He asked.
You stilled. Out of all your siblings, you were the only one who knew what Niklaus had done. How he had murdered your mother. You had received visions of the moment throughout your life but particularly often in the months before it occurred. He didn’t know. You had never told him.
“Why ask me that, brother?” You returned, tilting your head.
“Because I want to know if this grief that still weighs so heavy on my soul is mine own fault or her’s.” He eyed you with a flat stare and you nodded, pressing your lips together. You didn’t want to hurt his feelings but you didn’t think your answer was one he would like.
“I loved our mother dearly,” You eventually decided to say after a few beats of silence had passed between you. “But I do not miss her as you do.”
Nik’s voice trembled and the paintbrush clutched in his fist snapped.
“Why?”
You smiled thinly. “Because I knew her as you do not.”
Your brother glanced up, meeting your eyes with an expression that demanded you explain yourself. You sighed heavily. It was time to come clean.
“I know what you did, Nik.”
His entire body stiffened, his eyes widening in alarm and terror.
“I know you killed her.” You shrugged. “I’m not mad.”
He drew in a sharp breath, shaking his head, his expression a mixture of guilt, relief, and confusion.
“How? W-why?” He choked out, unable to grasp the concept you’d laid in front of him.
“Because you’re my brother and I love you,” You said, smiling as though it was as simple as the words would imply. “Esther loved all of us in her own way, but that was not how a mother should. She loved the idea of children but the reality was more difficult than she had predicted and she struggled to understand her place, I think. Esther was barren, you see. She tapped into some very dark rituals to change that. Thus, we are all products of dark magic and such things so rarely receive a generous fortune from the spirits of nature. So we were all damned from the start, I think.” Pulling yourself to stand on legs that were still so frail, you wandered over to a side table and picked up the brush that rested upon it. You began moving it through your H/C hair in careful strokes. “In the end, Mother paid the price for her selfishness, I suppose. I don’t blame you. I cannot blame you, Niklaus lest I blame myself equally because that woman never loved any of us enough to save our souls and for that, I am simply unable to forgive her. I may never be able to.”
Tears slipped down your brother’s face. “But she loved you. I know she loved you most of all,” He said, through gritted teeth.
You nodded, huffing a slight laugh. “That she did. Actually, I think she loved me a little too much.”
“You reminded her of Freya,” Klaus whispered. “Of her firstborn, the one she lost to plague.”
“I know.”
“She worried for you constantly, terrified some sickness would take you just as it took Freya.”
“I know.”
“When your Frost-Sickness rendered you unconscious, she nery left your side!”
“I know.”
Klaus clenched his teeth and growled. “Yet still you whine like a spoiled cat!” He spat, rage and jealousy now taking the forefront in his aquamarine eyes. “You never suffered our father’s rage, never had to labor as the rest of us did to please him, you were always doted apon by everyone - never had to feel as though you didn’t belong, as though you had you earn your place! How dare you take all that for granted.”
Your jaw locked and you gently placed the brush down to avoid crushing the fine wood into splinters. Inhaling deeply, you fixed your gaze on your brother. “I have never taken for granted anything that was given to me. The sun, the moon, the stars, the trees, the rivers, the land, and more than anything this family have I given thanks for every single day I have been allotted. You, Niklaus, know not what it is to wake up, surprised that you made it another day. You, Niklaus, do not understand what it is to rejoice in the unfathomable agony that plagues your bones as it means that you’re alive. You, my brother, cannot comprehend what it is to put off sleep in fear that you may not see the next dawn - nor to fight through a hell of your mind’s own making for no other cause than for the love of family.” You shook your head, disappointed in him. “Do not call me ungrateful, Niklaus.”
“Then why do you think of our mother with contempt when even I who took her life cannot forgive myself?!” He bellowed. His voice and eyes were hollow and broken, his soul desperate for an answer to his heart’s riddle.
You could feel yourself begin to cry as well. Not for your own sake, but for his.
“Her love wasn’t for me, Nik,” You sniffed. “It wasn’t mine - it was Freya’s.”
“N-no… She-”
“I grew up smothered by a shadow of love and regret that never had anything to do with me!” You cried, wrapping your arms around yourself as if they might contain the pain that threatened to tear you apart. “Mother’s doting wasn’t compassion! It was obsession! She thought that if she could just fix her past mistakes that it might somehow change how things were for us, but it was always a lie. A fairytale.”
When your older brother opened his arms, you ran to him, and he embraced you as any older brother should. You had aimed to cheer him up, but such was not the outcome. Sometimes things don’t work out the way they’re planned and Niklaus just let you cry. At the end of the day, your siblings would always be there for you - even if it was only at the very end.
“What’s worse was that I knew, I felt it every second,” You sobbed into his shirt, clinging to him like a plank of wood in a storm-tossed sea. “I saw myself in her eyes and believe me when I say that through them I know what our dearly departed sister looked like. She even called me Freya more times than I can count.” You shook your head, letting the pain run its course. “I was just her replacement, Nik. Just a replacement she tossed to the wayside like the rest of of her children - damned from the start.”
In this memory it was Niklaus who hung his head, ashamed of his quick accusations. He pressed a kiss to the crown of your hair. “I-I’m sorry, Y/N,” He said. “My minnsta vix, you are my sister - blood be damned - and I’ll never doubt your loyalty agian.”
And he never did. Of all your siblings, you were the only one Nik never daggered out of fear or as a punishment. Not like Kol, who was easily the one finding himself at the wrong end of a dagger too many times to count.
As much as his actions against your family, Niklaus especially, pained you, you couldn’t blame him. Your mother’s curse had consumed your twin brother and oh how acutely did you miss the mischievous boy you had adored with all your heart. The only time he truly seemed to return to you was around Bonfire season, or as it came to be called, Christmas.
New Orleans, Louisiana: December 3rd, 1904
“Kol, sweetheart, honey-bunch, mistletoe of mine; you had better start running because I’m going to beat your ass to a pulp as soon as I reach the bottom of these here stairs,” You sang from the balcony overlooking the courtyard of your families New Orleans compound. A wide, placid smile was spread over your face but it was the equivalent of thin ice because your eyes promised death.
Down below, decorating the positively gigantic fir tree Klaus had somehow managed to fit through the front gates, stood your menace of a twin brother. He glanced up, flashing you the world’s cheekiest grin. “Oh, darling that’s not very peace on earth of you, now is it? Especially when I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong!”
Your eyes narrowed. “I think you know exactly what you did, Charles.”
He snickered but held your eyes. Beside him Rebekah looked confused, glancing back and forth between the two of you. “What exactly is going on here?” She asked. Your younger sister also took a step away from your twin for good measure. She was a smart cookie.
Keeping your razer sharp glare fixed on Kol, you drew an object from behind your back - a long, thin, wooden object. You held it on display before you, twirling it like a staff between your fingers. You said nothing.
Rebekah groaned, rolling her eyes. “Really? We’re back to this again?” She scoffed and rounded on Kol. “What, did you run out of actually clever pranks to pull?”
“There’s nothing wrong with the classics, Rebekah,” Elijah cut in from where he sat with his book in the corner. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens - how appropriate.
“There is when its this one,” She claimed. “We’re going to be cleaning bits of Kol off the walls for a century when she’s though with ‘im!”
“Damn right, you are,” You said, eyeing your twin brother like a lion eyes a gazell. “Got anything to say for yourself… dim-wit?”
Kol grinned from ear to ear. “Why yes actually, I do.” He cleared his throat and straightened his jacket. Then he looked up, spreading his arms wide. “God bless us, Everyone!”
For a moment you didn’t move. You just glared death at him and he grinned back. Then, you chucked the crutch in your hands like a javelin, aimed directly at his face before vaulting yourself over the railing, screaming at the top of your lungs. “SUFFER THE WRATH OF TINY TIM, YOU KNOB-HEADED WANKER!!!”
Kol squealed like a girl and bolted just as fast as his legs could possibly carry him. “Is it too late to say I’m sorry?” He tried as he backed away from you, using Elijah and his chair as a shield.
“You forged these chains link by link and yard by yard,” You quoted, inching closer. “No apology can save you from me!”
“Bloody hell!” He yelped and leaped to the side as you made a grab for him, just narrowly dodging. He raced into the room closest to the two of you, dashing around the dining room table and through the opposite door. “Just because you’re a cripple doesn’t mean I don’t love you!”
You pursued him into the Kitchen. “How’s this for cripple?” You lept onto the counter and from there flung yourself onto your brother’s shoulders, tackling him to the floor. “Surrender or die!” You commanded, pressing your forearm against his throat.
“Fine! I surrender!” He conceded. You moved off him and allowed the boy to stand.
“Mean cripple,” He muttered under his breath.
You punched him in the gut.
It was that playful side of him that you missed. The one that would tease you with jabs that didn't sting just a little. The one who never sneered at you or yelled. You even missed his endless supply of cripple jokes, because that was him. That was your Kol and he was gone now. Your mother's curse had changed him most of all.
Rebekah, on the other hand, hadn't changed much at all. Though she had developed something of an extreme side, her patterns remained the same. She followed in Niklaus's footsteps, wherever they may tread. She trusted and feared him. Rebekah always chose Nik over you and your twin.
New Orleans, Louisiana: December 21st, 1914
"No!" You shrieked as you watched that cold silver dagger pierce your twin brother's heart once again. The color in his skin faded to a corpse-like gray and the veins beneath blackened and ran dry. "No…"
He was gone. Kol would be locked away and there was no telling whether Niklaus would ever let him out again. The grief, the pain, and the agony were too much. You had only nearly been hanging on and only for Christmas - only for Kol because he loved the season so. But with him gone, the pain assaulted you in droves. Tears burned your eyes and you found yourself turning towards Rebekah.
"I trusted you," You whispered - heartbroken. "We trusted you."
"Y/N/N, I-I had to," She claimed.
"No, you didn't." You shook your head, tears already making their way down your cheeks. "No, you didn't."
"Y/N, you don't understand-"
You didn't let her finish. Shaking your head, you turned away and carried yourself back to your room. There, you let yourself collapse on your bed, allowing the weight of the Frost-Sickness to crush you. Already your body felt heavier, your chest like a vice. You didn't want to be here any longer. Not without him.
A knock sounded on your door.
"I don't want to talk!" You shouted.
The knock came again.
"Go away!"
The door opened and Niklaus stepped in. You glared at him.
"Do you not speak English?" You demanded. "Go away, I said. Trŭgvaĭ. Partir. Verlassen. Scram. Beat it. Leave me alone, it's what you're best at."
"I did what I had to do," Klaus said, eyes hard.
"Keep telling yourself that," You spat.
"He was plotting against me, forging a dagger-"
"He wasn't going to use it!" You bit your lip, your whole frame shaking with unshed tears. "He-He wasn't… He was never-" You fell back against your pillows, burying your face in your hands.
"Love, please-"
"I can't." You heaved and gasped for breath but you couldn't seem to get enough oxygen. "I can't a-and I don't want to. I don't want to be around without him - not now. I don't want this pain any longer! To run afoul of winter will surely shred my soul! I can't stand it, Niklaus! Just put me to sleep!"
Klaus closed his eyes and sighed. "Are you confident this is what you want?"
"I can't do it without him. This whole season - I can't stand it. I don't want to spend Christmas without him! Not this one or any other!" You rubbed your red-rimmed eyes. "Let me sleep through the winter, and wake me when you wake him."
"As you wish, dear sister."
From his pocket, Klaus withdrew a gleaming silver dagger. Its edges glinted like snowflakes, though New Orleans didn't have those. He moved to sit by your side, raising his arm so you could lean against his shoulder. You closed your eyes, and a moment later, felt the chilling metal slice your flesh, lodging itself firmly in your heart.
"Merry Christmas, Nik." The words were the last to leave your lips.
"Sleep well and dream of butterflies, minnsta vix," Those words were the last you heard Klaus whisper to you. "I promise I shall wake you one day."
You knew Klaus would keep his promise, though it startled you when that promise came to fruition.
Mystic Falls, Virginia: Present Day
The first thing you registered when you awoke was a voice. Two voices actually. One that sounded like music and another that reminded you more of a rotten honeycomb - slimy, sticky, and brittle. You remained still and listened as these were not the voices of your family members and thus, they would have some serious explaining to do.
"Damon?" The musical voice spoke. "We did it. Abby and I opened the coffin."
The second voice, most likely this Damon fellow - not that you cared - sounded rather muffled. Almost as if he wasn't actually in the room. Speaking of, whatever sort of room you found yourself in was large and open. That is, everything echoed.
"Yeah?" The voice prodded impatiently. "And what's in there? What did you find?"
"Another corpse with a dagger through it," A third voice joined the conversation. This voice was similar to the music-like voice of the young girl, though it had a smokier quality.
"What?" That second voice did not sound happy. "That's it?"
"Yup. She's just some girl," The first voice replied.
"How old are her clothes?" The second asked.
“Uh, I don’t know…” You felt someone pinch the fabric of your skirts, likely inspecting the make.
“Early ninteen-hundreds, I’d say,” The third voice spoke. How long had you been out? Niklaus wouldn’t have kept you daggered for that long, would he?
“Did you take the dagger out?” Damon demanded.
Always one for a dramatic entrance, you took that as your cue. Sitting up slowly, you turned your head and opened your eyes. Your whole body felt drained and dry and you knew the telltale signs of desiccation were still there. Two women stood in front of you, one adult and one no older than seventeen. Both had beautiful caramel skin and black hair and they shared the same gorgeous green eyes. Witches they were - mother and daughter. You could tell in the way they carried themselves. Both of them gasped in unison.
“I’m afraid they did,” You said with a smirk. “Hope that’s not too much of a problem.” Of course, you didn’t mean such a statement but for now, you were in good enough spirits to be amused. You focused your gaze on the younger of the two witches, schooling your expression to assure her that you meant the girl no harm. “Hello, darling. Would you be so kind as to tell me the date? I’m afraid I’ve been asleep a rather long time.”
What odd clothes these women wore. Instead of skirts, they sported trousers. Scandalous to be sure, but what you wouldn’t give for a pair.
The young girl floundered for a moment, searching for words but you remained patent.
“Uh, um… I-it’s January 20th, 2012.”
Your eyes widened in shock for a moment as you digested that information, then your expression fell into a grimace. “Great,” You huffed. Tossing your hair back, you hopped out of that cramped coffin and onto the floor of the cave. “Well, in that case, who are you and do I need to murder you both?”
Both women took a hesitant step back.
“I-I’m Bonnie, Bonnie Bennet,” The younger one said. “And this is my mother, Abby.” She pointed to her senior companion.
“I see,” You nodded cooly. Your mood was souring by the minute.
“We-we were told you were the weapon capable of killing Klaus Mikaelson,” She said.
You raised a brow and laughed. "Kill him? Kill Niklaus?" The expressions of the women before you were entirely serious though they quickly began to deteriorate into confusion as you doubled over laughing. "Now why on Earth would I do such a thing?"
Both witches glanced at one another, uncertain. "Well… because he daggered you?"
"At my behest!" You dismissed with a wave of your hand. "As if he could suffer me anything against my will; though, by Odin, I would certainly love to see him try. Ha! Kill him… I'd sooner let Kol have the pleasure - as long as we're suggesting absurdities. However, I will have a few choice words for him, just as soon as he comes to collect me, that you can be sure of." You shook your head as your laughter faded.
"That'll be hard, princess," The owner of that second voice you had heard waltzed through the mouth of the cavern. "The big bad wolf's got no clue where you are, so I don't think you'll be telling him anything."
He was a tall man, a little shorter than Kol but a little broader in the shoulders, with hair as black as a raven's plumage and pale skin to match. His eyes were a piercing sort of blue and you might have found him attractive had it not been for the unnerving gleam in those eyes and the sneer marring his lips.
"I beg your pardon?" You questioned, falling back into a more defensive stance at the sight of him. You didn't fear the man but something about that voice of his set you on edge.
"No one's coming to get you, sweetheart," Damon said.
You scowled, snapping your gaze back to Bonnie who had begun inching towards her ally's arrival. "You, girl! Why do you seek my brother's demise?" You demanded, eyes hard and sharp.
Bonnie froze. "I just want to protect my friends," She replied.
You shrugged. "A noble cause, at least."
"Wait, Klaus is your brother?" It was her mother who voiced the question and you rolled your eyes.
"Yes, of course he is. What else would he be?" You answered impatiently.
"Then why did he have your coffin sealed?" The woman questioned.
"Because my siblings are a rather overprotective lot and they tend to overdo my security just a tad." You huffed and turned back to the daughter. "Do you know where my brother currently resides?"
"Y-yes." She nodded.
"Very well, darling. Take me to him," You ordered shortly. Your tone left no room for debate and the women both moved to obey you but the man held his arm out to stop them.
"Woah, woah, woah. Not so fast. You're not going anywhere, princess," He said, taking a confident step forward.
"Step aside," You demanded. You had run out of patience.
The man - Damon - shook his head. "Not gonna happen."
You raised a brow. "Oh?"
"Nope."
"I should warn you, that's rather ill advised," You said, smiling thinly. Your eyes promised danger.
"And why's that, sugar?" That southern accent of his was certainly grating on your already thin nerves.
"Because I lack my twin's fun-loving temperament and all-around more reasonable nature," You replied. "Move aside and take me to my family or I shall skin you alive and tear each strand of sinus from your muscles one by one as I weave them into a nice rug."
Damon snorted. "Could you at least make me into a tapestry? I always wanted to be one of those."
"This is the only warning I will give," You ground out, eyes narrowed.
He scoffed. "Come at me, short-ass."
The insult was entirely his mistake.
You rushed at him, dodging right at the last second to avoid his attempt to grab you. Snatching his arm for balance, you angled your feet to the wall of the cave and pushed off. That initial push supplied you with enough momentum to cartwheel your tiny body over his shoulders. Your weight combined with the force you applied, threw him off balance and you took the opportunity to drive your elbow firmly into his skull as soon as you were solidly back on the ground. Damon reeled in pain but you didn't give him time to think. You swept your leg around and kicked his own out from under him, sending him crashing to the cave floor.
You knelt on his chest and met his eyes.
"Take me to my family," You ordered, impressing your will on his inferior mind.
The man smirked and tossed you off of him. You were sent stumbling and your back slammed into the side of the coffin you had awoken in. You blinked, shaking the slight daze away. What had happened? Why had your compulsion failed?
"Sorry, cupcake," Damon gloated, getting to his feet. "I had a vervain cocktail for breakfast."
"No matter." You shrugged and straightened up again. "I was simply intending to be nice. I should be thanking you. For now I can have a little fun without Elijah reprimanding me for it."
You rushed him again and this time he was ready for you to evade his outstretched arms. He stepped to the right to counter you but this time you ducked and slid between his legs. Twisting around with all the agility of a coiled servant, you kicked him in the groin like the simple, prudent soul you were. Damon cursed and fell to one knee, glaring at you over his shoulder.
"That was cheap," He bit out, grimacing.
You shrugged. "That was practical," You replied, smirking primly. "And so is this."
Grabbing him by the wrist, you twisted his arm and pulled it around his back, pushing him over. You positioned your fingers to perfectly utilize the fulcrum point of that wrist as your shoved his hand forwards. Damon grunted and you grinned. Then you started breaking his fingers. One at a time.
Snap!
Snap!
Snap!
The man cursed and screamed and you just giggled like the innocent little girl you had once been but were no longer.
Unfortunately, in your eagerness to take down the man in the black leather jacket, you had entirely forgotten about the two witches in the room.
"That's enough!" The younger one shouted. A searing pain ignited in your skull, prompting you to release your grip on the raven-haired man. You cried out clutching your skull as the other woman yelled:
"Motus!"
You were thrown back into a semi-damp wall of stone and held there by an invisible force. The pain in your head faded and your gaze snapped up, locking on Bonnie and her mother. You hissed, teeth-gnashing and eyes wild. You were tired and starving and miserable and cold and they were in your way.
Then, a blur of motion startled you and before you could blink, a tall figure in a dark suit caught the elder woman by the throat and raised her into the air
"Miss and Mrs. Bennett, I suggest you release my sister at once." Elijah's booming voice struck through the cavern and you grinned, turning your head to the door. There stood your brothers - well, two of them, anyway - and neither of them looked very amused. Klaus moved to intimidate the younger girl and Kol smirked as he delivered a few swift, bone-crunching kicks to Damon's ribs.
You smiled wryly.
As it turned out, Klaus, Elijah, and Kol made for quite the menacing trio when the three of them stood together on something. You made a mental note to encourage them to agree more often. The magic pinning you to the wall faltered, the witch responsible having lost all her bravado along with most of her oxygen supply. You dropped to the ground, landing in a bit of an unceremonious heap.
"Ugh! About time you three got here," You huffed, rolling your eyes as you brushed yourself off.
"Apologies, sister," Kol grinned, finishing with Damon by snapping his neck before prancing over to you. "We had some urgent remodeling to take care of - you know how it goes." He tossed you something and you caught the object, inspecting it. The thing appeared to be a plastic bag containing… blood?
Huh… how peculiar.
You shrugged and tore into it. The sweet nectar inside wasn't as fresh as you would have liked but beggars can't exactly be choosers now, can they?
"Don't ever presume to threaten my sister again. Do I make myself clear?" Elijah growled his tone a harsh bite emphasized by the glare Klaus cast between mother and daughter. Both women nodded vigorously and Elijah dropped the one he was strangling. She fell to the ground, gasping for breath and he turned to you, seeming to inspect your figure for injuries before speaking. "Are you unharmed, lítil víx?" He asked gently.
"I'm quite alright. Though, I most certainly would like to know whose fault is was that I fell into the hands of such incompetent brutes as these," You hummed, continuing to suck out the contents of the bag in your hands rather contentedly. Beside you, your twin brother smirked and threw an arm around your shoulders, pulling you firmly into his side as he turned and started from the cave. The other two followed with Klaus making one last rather threatening gesture before taking up the rear.
"I'm afraid it was Niklaus's regrettable negligence that allowed all of our coffins to be stolen," Elijah informed you.
Klaus made a strangled noise of offense. "It wasn't my fault!" He protested. "I was a little distracted with killing our father!"
"Father's dead?" You asked in surprise. Your siblings nodded. "Oh… Well good riddance."
"Thought you might say that. Now, don't you ever scare me like that again, darling. Understand?" Kol demanded, hugging you closer. Despite how he had been changed by your mother's curse, you could always be sure he would still care about you. No curse on the planet could change that.
"Ah yes," You agreed, rolling your eyes. "I'll try my very best to avoid being kidnapped while under the influence of a magical sleep in the near future."
Your twin brother poked you in the ribs in response to your wit.
"He's serious, love," Klaus added. "You nearly gave us a heart attack."
"Careful, Nik. Statements like those might lead one to think you have a heart," You chastened playfully.
The hybrid chuckled. "Only for you, love. Only for you."
"And for the occasional blonde, let us not forget," Elijah quipped, smirking to himself.
You giggled but your mirth didn't last long.
Stepping out of the mouth of the cave system, you were met with the blackness of night and air even colder than that of the cavern. Snow drifted from a dreary sky and you frowned, shivering. Discomfort weighed in your soul and you could feel it begin to grow just as frigid rime creeps along until it smothers a plant. You sighed. It was going to be a difficult few months until spring.
Kol rubbed your arm comfortingly and leaned in close. "It'll be alright, Y/N. I'm right here. I may not have my magic, but I'm not leaving you and you won’t be alone this winter."
Yes, as always, it was going to be a difficult few months until spring.
But at the very least you had your family.
No matter what, you would have your family. Always and Forever.
If I Were Your Mother
Tumblr media
Baby Mikaelson sister reader x Hayley Marshall (and everyone else)
Warnings: Mikael being an ass, death?
A/n: This is set during later season 2, we're gonna forget about Jackson and Hayley together. We're gonna pretend that everyone is happy and Klaus and Hayley don't fight about what's best for Hope or try to take her away from each other every other episode and are actually good together.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mikael is back. Davina brought him back from the other side almost a year ago. You've seen Kol and Finn in their new bodies and were completely freaked out by Finn. He had tried to kill you. You wouldn't leave your brothers or Hayley's side no longer than five minutes for almost two weeks.
Mikael had boomed into the abattoir, white oak stake in his hand, ready to kill. He laid his eyes on you the moment you ran into the room where you heard a familiar man's voice yelling. You regretted it as soon as you saw your father. The same father who had been tracking you and your siblings down for the past millennia.
You had thought Nik had already killed him, he told you he had. Did he lie?
Mikael went straight to you. You loudly screamed and tried to vamp speed out of the way, but he was too fast for you. He had caught you in his arms and pressed the stake right at your tiny chest.
As soon as your loud scream pierced the walls of the old building, the room was immediately full of your older siblings; Bekah, Nik, and Lijah, as well as Marcel and Hayley, whom you'd grown really close with since she was pregnant in the early months.
"LET HER GO" Klaus bellowed, his eyes flash a striking amber. His anger is through the roof, no one touches his baby sister and lives, no one. He starts to stalk his way over, followed by Elijah.
"Don't come any closer, boys" Mikael spat at them. You whimpered loudly as tears ran down your reddened cheeks. All you want is your big brothers.
"No" You hit your father's shoulder and tried to pull away from him. All that does is make his grip on you tighten to a painful extent. Even with your vampire healing, it hurts tremendously.
Veins appear under Hayley's eyes, enraged at Mikael for even going near the poor little girl. She uses her hybrid strength and lunges at him. She knocks the white oak stake out of his hands and bites him on the shoulder opposite you. She takes you into her arms and quickly vamps you back over to Marcel before returning to Mikael, along with Elijah, Klaus, and Rebekah.
Your big sister grabbed the stake into her hand and vamped towards where Elijah and Klaus were pinning Mikael down each on one side and Hayley's arm was wrapped tightly around his neck. She shoved the stake right through Mikael's heart. Flames blaze across Mikael's body and clothing. His screams echoed through the whole compound.
They all backed away from the burning corpse of the vampire who hunts vampires, watching as he burned from the inside out.
Marcel had you tucked against his chest, hand on the back of your head so you didn't have to watch the fight going down. You sobbed into his shirt, scared out of your mind. You want, you want Hayley.
She was the one who took you from Mikael. You pull away once Marcel's grip slackens a bit after Mikael burns.
You outstretch your arms towards the hybrid. Hayley quickly comes over to you and brings you into her arms gently. She turns back around to the other three originals, Klaus has a hurt look on his face, clearly wishing you had wanted him.
Hayley feels guilty, mouthing 'I'm sorry' to him. Elijah nods in response to her before looking at his younger brother and Rebekah places a hand on his shoulder.
"She has no means to hurt you, Nik. Don't think about it too much. She loves all of us" Rebekah whispers to him. Klaus takes a deep breath before nodding in response to her. He knows he shouldn't hold it against you, you may be over 1000 years old, but you're 2 years old, with a mind and thoughts that come with it, even as a vampire. And he knows you love him, he shouldn't hold it against you.
He nods to Hayley, a smile twitching at his lips, before turning to the burnt to a crisp corpse.
"Well, we should tend to the trash, shall we, sister?" Klaus smirks towards Rebekah. "We shall" She smirks back to him.
Klaus walks over to your tiny, shaking body in Hayley's arms and places a hand on the back of your head before kissing your forehead. He then goes over to their father, putting his arms behind his back as he brainstorms what to do next.
Rebekah walks over to the two of you next and places a kiss on the crown of your head. "I love you, sweetie" She runs her hand through your soft hair before going over to where Nik and Elijah are.
Hayley walks towards the stairs, nodding at Marcel, to which he nods back before walking off to the room he was in before Mikael showed up.
She bounces you in her arms, trying to soothe and calm you down. "Oh, It's okay, Baby. He's gone. He's gone now" She holds you close. you lean into her warmth and grip your pudgy hands on her shirt.
"No need to cry no more," She says, starting to tear up herself. She walks into her room and opens the door to the nursery. She goes over to the crib where a baby Hope lays, eyes open, looking up at the mobile. And now her eyes land on her Mama and you.
You hear the tiny mewling sounds from Hope, and look up from Hayley's chest to the baby. you let go of her shirt with one hand and reach to Hope.
Hope sits up from where she was lying down, looking up at you. She has loved you from the start, even though she can't talk yet, but knows that love is returned back from you
"You want some time with Hope?" Hayley asks you. You've been obsessed with the baby girl since before she was born, you love her just as much as Hayley and Klaus. You immediately nod your head, "Hopey" you say and let out a grin even with the tear tracks on your face.
Hayley lowers you into the crib with her daughter and watches how you immediately get into a silent conversation with her. You both giggle and play together with the small toys scattered in the crib.
She watches as you both play, a smile on her face. If she could adopt you as her own daughter as well, she would have no second thoughts and do it in one fell swoop. But she knows that your family loves you a great deal.
If she were to be your mother, she would love you so much. She would give you the childhood and life you deserve. She would care for you as a mother like she has been for over a year. There's no way she can express just how much she loves you.
"I love you both so much," She tells you both, watching as you cuddle with each other into the soft blanket. Hope has two pacifiers in her hands. She hands one over to you the best she can and you take it in your tiny from her just as tiny hand.
Hope puts the other in her mouth, just as you put the one she handed you into yours. You both suck on the pacifiers, tiny suckling noises filling the room.
Hayley tries not to physically aww at the action. Both of her babies sucking on soothers. She knows you're older than a normal age of a 'baby', but you're just as a baby as Hope is in her eyes. And the same goes for the eyes of your big siblings.
Klaus walks into the bedroom not long after you and Hope doze off, curled into one another. He looks around the room, "Where's my baby sister?" He asks, worried about you after the event of earlier in the day.
"Shh" she holds a finger up to her lips before nodding down at the dark wooden crib.
He follows her instructions and looks down at the crib, his face softening right away. He watches as his two baby girls sleep, sucking on the pacifiers.
Hayley pulls him into the other room, closing the door so she doesn't wake you two up.
"Is Mikael dealt with? Gone for good?" She asks him. "Yes, he shall not return, never again. the look on her face, I- I froze, he was going to kill her. And it was my fault" His voice wavers.
"Hey, it's not your fault, and nothing happened. That asshole deserves what he got and everything that's coming his way in hell. You're her big brother, Y/n loves you so much" Hayley pulls the elder into a hug.
Klaus stiffens at first before melting into her arms, breathing in her scent. After ten more seconds, he backs away, looking into her eyes, vulnerability shining through them. He covers it back up before his eyebrows scrunch together and a glint in his eyes.
"Was Y/n using a pacifier?" a smile plays on his lips. "Yeah, our daughter thought she would want one and gave one to her.,. Obviously, she was right. I have a feeling they're not going to allow us to separate them for a while" Hayley chuckles lightly.
"I assume that's the same for you with her as well" He crosses his arms, eyebrow raised in amusement.
"Fair enough" Hayley smirks back to him.
You don't leave Hayley and Hope's side for a little while. You love it when you're all having a cuddle session with Hayley or Klaus, or both of them. The pacifier also is starting to seem like a constant. The only one to have a bad word against it is Elijah, saying that you don't need to develop a bad habit of always wanting one. But that's quickly stopped when Rebekah dragged him out of the room and nicely explained how their baby sister using a soother is at the bottom of the list of their concerns.
You love Hayley, Hope, and your siblings to the moon and back.

Hi!
If you feeling like it, could you do a one shot in which Klaus and Reader have been together for a long time and love each other but when they move to Mystic falls Reader can see and feel Klaus distancing himself and crushing over Caroline?
Like he would start spending more time trying to get her attention and watching her, while putting his missions and schemes over Reader. She sees that his sketches are less about her and more about Caroline and she feels alone, heartbroken and ignored. Then she hears Klaus tell Caroline the same confession that he told her when they got together ("He is your first love, but I intend to be your last") and she runs away to collect her things from their shared room.
But what she doesn't know is that it was all a plan to make Caroline fall in love with him and tell him the plan of the Salvatore. At the end Klaus finds put about her missing and search for her but she is scared that now that he doesn't love her anymore he will hurt her to keep her mouth shut about the secrets that she knew so she goes on the run.
The ending is up to you ofc. Thank you!!
I'm not the only one
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x reader Summary: You and Klaus have been together for ages. You swore to each other Always and Forever. You could always rely on him, and the original hybrid trusted you with his plans. But how long can you turn a blind eye to his sudden interest in a certain Caroline Forbes? And after hearing him say the same words to her that practically started your relationship, you realize that maybe after all, you're not the only one for him. Warning(s): angst - because I'm having a terrible week and I needed to get rid of these negative feelings, Klaus cheating (kiss), broken reader, little comfort at the end because I don't like sad endings. Nonsense from me: I hope you like it! World count: 6,2k
Tumblr media
You and me, we made a vow For better or for worse
You and Klaus have been together for a very long time. You stood by him as you built the might of New Orleans together—a safe home, a haven—until Mikael showed up and sent everything to hell. Despite this defeat, you were still with your beloved, escaping with him from his cruel father and trying to defeat Mikael once and for all. His siblings were like family to you (even though you never formalized your relationship). You've been Klaus' fiancée—kind of part of the family—but he could still get rid of you if he wanted at any time.
But you tried not to worry too much about it, knowing full well that Klaus didn't want to expose you to the wrath of his enemies and the special attention of his father if he married you. After all, you were still an ordinary vampire. A simple heart rip, a werewolf bite, or a wooden stake through your heart could kill you very easily and quickly.
You didn't need to make it official. His love and devotion were enough for you.
But since your arrival in Mystic Falls and (finally) breaking his curse, your relationship has started to sour.
Things between you two changed when certain Caroline Forbes showed up on the picture...
I can't believe you let me down But the proof is in the way it hurts For months on end I've had my doubts
One day Klaus' full devotion and love for you shone bright and uninterrupted from him, and the next day he completely ignored you, spending the entire fucking prom with that blonde bitch. The merciful, compassionate look from Esther and the Mystic Falls gang was the worst feeling you've felt in 300 years.
But you tried to justify his behavior when it turned out that his mother really wanted to kill them all. You thought he had distanced himself from you and turned his attention to this young vampire to protect you from Esther.
However, a few months later, when he completely lost interest in you, he stopped texting you during the day, and you fell asleep before he came home and got up when the bed was cold on his side (sometimes you even doubted he was coming home at all), and worst of all, his sketches were all about sweet Caroline—you began to have serious suspicions that he was doing all of this for "your own good".
Sarcasm completely intentional.
Of course, Elijah tried to explain away his brother's attitude, but you knew better. If Nik really cared about you, he'd be communicating with you about more than just the magic cure for vampirism that he had to get for Elena.
Even that fucking doppelgänger and her bodyguards talked to him more than you, his (probably now in name only) fiancée.
Denying every tear I wish this would be over now But I know that I still need you here
You sighed, folded your napkin, wiped your tears, and got up from the table. You blew out the red candles that had practically burned out and left the dining room, leaving the 300-year "engagement" dinner with Klaus on the table.
You went to the kitchen and took out of the fridge a bottle of wine specially chilled and stored for this occasion, from the exact year you met. You slowly walked up the stairs. The sound of your high heels hitting the marble steps echoed through the empty mansion, mocking your loneliness.
As you walked down the hall towards your room, you noticed that the light was on in one of the bedrooms. Without thinking, you entered the room of your favorite original and leaned against the door frame, watching with amusement his attempts to use the phone.
"Fuck. Stupid mortal device." at one point, the man turned on the flashlight, blinding himself. "WHAT THE BLOODY HELL?!" I burst out laughing as Kol fell off his bed. He looked around the room in surprise, blushing with embarrassment when he saw that I had witnessed this compromising event.
"Kol Mikaelson. The terror of the living and the dead, the deadliest and most dangerous of the original vampires, was defeated by the flashlight on his phone. Rebekah won't believe me when I tell her."
"Very funny. Shouldn't you be fucking my brother today on your anniversary instead of standing here and torturing me?" he muttered, getting up off the floor and brushing off the invisible dust.
"Apparently he has other priorities. Should I be worried you wanted to eavesdrop on us?"
"Don't flatter my brother. We both know I can hear better sounds from you if you'll let me. Besides, I'm not a weirdo. I was about to curl up the moment I heard the first sound of danger."
"Every day, I consider your offer more and more. And I seriously doubt Klaus will hold a grudge against you after that."
"Wait a minute. 200 years ago, you said you'd rather be celibate than sleep with me, and Nik threatened to castrate me with a rusty shovel. Is it that bad between you two?"
"Come on. It's great! That's why, on one of our most important anniversaries, I'm standing in his brother's room." you groaned, trying to hold back the tears welling up in your eyes.
You were so weak and naive, still only wanting the company of a man who hadn't said a single word to you in months that wasn't related to his plans.
"Okay, I understand... wait. What's this? Can I see tears? All right, that's enough of this. Get your ass up and let's go drink and dance. Now that you've dressed up, we'll make good use of your short, sexy dress. I heard those pups from the Mystic Falls gang are having a party at the Salvatore's house. Let's make a mess, darling!" he tried to comfort me by pulling me into a tight hug and evoking any sort of giggle.
"That's why you're my favorite. But don't even think you'll get a sip of this wine." I said with a half smile, trying to somehow appreciate his attempt to cheer me up.
"Don't blame me. I had to try, darling. Now go fix that mesmerizing makeup, and I'll see you downstairs."
You say I'm crazy Cause you don't think I know what you've done But when you call me baby I know I'm not the only one
Salvatores may have been a pain in the ass, but they knew how to throw a party. It was child's play for Kol and you to get inside and empty their liquor cellar. You laughed and joked until another couple showed up at our hideout.
You sat hidden among the barrels so that you had a view of the stairs leading up. At their feet stood probably your least favorite couple...
"Why did you just let Tyler come to the party? You're not going to tell me there's a heart in that empty space near your lungs?"
"Calm down, love. It's your birthday. You shouldn't be nervous."
"I get nervous every time I see you. Now. Tell me, what am I supposed to do to repay you for bringing my boyfriend here and letting him stay at my party? Because I don't believe you did all this out of the kindness of your heart and you don't want anything in return." she said suspiciously, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I want nothing, love. Consider it a birthday present." he replied nonchalantly, shoving his hands into the pockets of his suit pants. He didn't even wear those smart suits on your birthday; he hated them. You don't know if it was because he felt like a second Elijah in them or because he was used to his henley. Apparently, SHE was worth sacrificing a bit of his comfort.
"You already gave one to me. Actually, a lot. What's all this Klaus for? Why do you try so hard for me and make sure I have a wonderful day, only to bring my boyfriend back at the end of it?"
"He's your first love. I intend to be your last. However long it takes. Until then, let me spoil yourself. Seduce in all the ways you ever dream of." you felt as if the whole world stopped for a moment around you as you heard the same enchanting words coming out of his mouth to her that he had used to convince you to run away with him 300 years ago.
"Seriously? This goes against all the rules of flirting, without even mentioning that you already have a girlfriend."
"Y/N? She's only my minion. A person from dirty work. She imagines something more about us, and that's it. I never loved her. Not the way I care about you, Caroline." sure, go ahead. Go all out. Kiss and fuck against this wall. Anyway, your heart is already dead.
"Klaus I..." the blonde shook her head, staring in shock at the hybrid with a small disbelieving smile. Klaus walked over to her, taking her hands in his. Their mouths were centimeters away from joining in a kiss right in front of your eyes.
"Care! Where are you?! It's time for cake!" the screams of her friends saved you from watching the love of your life kiss someone else, adore someone else, and give his heart, his lips, his eyes, and his touch to someone else.
You could only watch silently as Klaus offered her his arm and helped her up the stairs. Always a gentleman… at least when he wanted something or expected something in return.
There was dead silence in the room. You could feel Kol's sympathetic gaze burning a hole in the left side of your head.
"Y/N, he didn't mean..."
"It's okay, Kol. I've got ears, a brain, and pretty good eyes. I know what I saw and heard. I think that's enough fun for today. Thanks for trying to make me feel better." you cut him off, seeing panic instead of surprise in his eyes. So his siblings knew everything... that's probably why Rebekah left without saying a word.
"No! Y/N, wait! You don't..." before he could say anything else, I ran out of there at vampire speed.
"Shit. Klaus is going to kill me." a man said to himself after she disappeared.
You've been so unavailable Now sadly I know why Your heart is unobtainable Even though Lord knows you kept mine
Honestly, you should have known it would end like this. From the beginning of your relationship, a swarm of girls followed him wherever he went. But then he only saw you.
"I don't like it here." I snorted, eyeing the werewolf bitch who had been fawning over Nik since the party started.
"Here or her, love? It may seem that one letter means nothing, but as you hear, it changes the whole meaning of your statement." the original snorted, throwing his arm around my shoulders and pulling me into his possessive grip.
"None of them. Did we really have to throw this ball?" I complained, catching the lady werewolf leader's eye and kissing Mikaelson greedily to "mark my territory in front of that bitch." I pulled away from him as a smug smirk began to form on his lips, interfering with my ministry. "Why are you smiling like that? What's so funny?"
"For the first time, I see jealousy on your beautiful face. I have to admit it's a nice change."
"Please, as if half the women in the world aren't already trying to take you away from me. One puny wolf cub poses no threat to me, much less arouses my jealousy."
"Of course. So kiss me again. Just in case she somehow didn't get the message."
I snorted, pulling him to me by his necklace, and biting his lips to the blood. I licked my mouth as I climbed onto his lap and straddled him. I ran my hand through his hair and started leaving small kisses along the column of his throat.
"We're in public, love." he purred, wrapping one hand around my neck and pressing down gently. I growled, biting into his skin and taking a few gulps of his blood.
"And when exactly did it ever bother you?" I whispered, continuing to mark his skin. I smiled mischievously as I saw shivers run through his body.
The moment I felt his own fangs glide against my neck, I moved away from him at arm's length. I smiled victoriously at his annoyed look.
"What happened with being in public thing, love?"
"Who could resist such tempting beauty and strength? Definitely not me." he growled with a smirk, grabbing me bride-style and moving us with vampire speed to his room, specifically his bed.
"Elijah will be furious with us if we disappear again. Your werewolf friend is unlikely to be pleased with the lack of your wonderful presence either." I moaned as he started tearing off my dress.
"It's a good thing I don't care about any of them now. I'm yours. Only yours, my queen. And you're mine. And I will be proving it to you for always and forever."
You should know that one day you will fall from his pedestal.
You say I'm crazy Cause you don't think I know what you've done But when you call me baby I know I'm not the only one
I felt sad, to say the least. And a bit lonely.
For a month, Nik had become... colder, more distant. It started with us no longer having dinner together. Stupid observation, I know, but I couldn't help but miss his presence. He disappeared somewhere, fighting with the Salvatore brothers for Elena's blood. I understood his need to create a hyrbyds—someone like himself, his own pack that wouldn't leave him—but that didn't mean he had to do it alone. I could help him. I always helped him. However, my role began to be limited to guarding his hybrids and his sister.
Then he stopped writing to me. He could go all day without speaking to me, which was starting to worry me, so like any normal person, I decided to talk to my partner about my concerns. I just forgot that there is no such thing as normal between me and Niklaus.
"Love, don't you know how many things I have on my mind? If I had to write to you every second of every day, I would never have achieved what I have. Don't be a child who demands constant attention, you know that I love only you. There is no other woman whose arms I would rather return to every night."
I felt stupid. Like an oversensitive madwoman who needs to be in contact with her beloved 24 hours a day. But over time, he even stopped coming back to our bed, and if he did, it was so late that I had already fallen asleep. Sometimes the smell of his perfume left on his pillow was the only contact I had with him during the day.
So I made him a real jealousy scene. But that only made me feel worse than before.
"Y/N. My light and life, you know how much I care about you. If it were up to me, I would never leave our room or your delightful presence. But you can't reproach me or make unreasonable scenes of jealousy when all I'm doing is keeping our family safe. I thought you could go a few hours without my wonderful presence? Besides, do you think that when I'm away from you, I don't spend a second thinking about you? You are with me, in my mind and memory, always and everywhere, but I cannot let myself be distracted and forget about my main goals to succumb to your captivating beauty. I'd be lost in you forever, forgetting what I have to do."
He could make me feel real remorse, but subconsciously I felt that something was wrong with all of this and that he wasn't telling me the whole truth.
He adopted a different tactic. He gave me some of his responsibilities, which kept me busy for half the day. Not that I missed him any less.
My suspicions only increased after I discovered a large number of sketches by another woman, the same woman he'd invited to his mother's damn ball, in his art room. However, I decided not to do anything about it and wait for the situation to develop.
I was tired of hearing that I was crazy.
I have loved you for many years Maybe I am just not enough You've made me realise my deepest fear By lying and tearing us up
Maybe you've been crazy and still madly in love with a man who's clearly been using your love and sincere, blind devotion all this time, but that doesn't mean you'll watch him slowly give himself to another just to stay with him just a little longer. You still had some dignity.
Besides, you had to leave. You saw what Klaus did to people he no longer needed. If he was capable of disposing, compelling, and torturing his minions, what will he do with you, the woman who knows all his family's darkest secrets, when he no longer needs you?
You had to run as fast and as far as possible.
If you're lucky enough, you'll cross the US border before he realizes you're gone. Maybe you'd even join Katherine? She was always sending silly postcards and postcards from pretty places to encourage you to run away from the hybrid. Now seemed like the right time to join her on the journey of a lifetime.
Despite your rational, cool approach to the situation, you couldn't stop your stupid tears from spilling out of your eyes as you packed all the necessities into your suitcase.
It took you an hour to recover from seeing a 19th-century photo of you and the Mikaelson family. You did it in New Orleans, right after you took over the city completely. Marcel stood with a big smile, embracing an equally cheerful Rebekah from behind. Elijah was holding Kol by the shirt so he wouldn't accidentally pounce on the human-photographer, and you and Klaus stood side by side, staring at each other with so much love in their eyes. Your big diamond glistened on your finger under the light of the lamps.
When did it all go to hell?
You stuffed the photo frame into your suitcase and slammed it shut with a bang.
Before you went downstairs, you stopped by his art room for a moment. With a sigh, you took one last look at all the old portraits he had painted, and after finding a piece of paper, you left a message on his latest sketchbook dedicated to HER.
It was a fun few centuries together, Klaus. But I knew I would never be the only one for you. Love and hate, Y/N P.S. You can give her that.
The ring you've worn for 300 years laughed at you, glowing in the glow of the street lamps as you left him on the note.
Without thinking twice, you ran out of the house and loaded your bags into your car. You cast one last longing glance at the house before getting into your car.
You angrily wiped away the tears that kept you from seeing the road ahead.
You knew only one quick and effective way to get rid of your unwanted, desperate emotions, but would you be able to do it? Stop feeling anything?
On the other hand, what was stopping you from doing it? You had nothing and no one in this world anyway.
You say I'm crazy Cause you don't think I know what you've done But when you call me baby I know I'm not the only one
"Is he cheating on me?" Rebekah spat out the wine she was drinking in shock and started coughing. After she had relatively recovered, she started staring at me like I was crazy.
"What?"
"Your brother. Is he cheating on me?" I repeated, sipping my own wine and staring blankly at the fireplace.
"Nik?"
"No, Elijah." I snorted, tucking my legs under me.
"Are you crazy? If one thing is certain about my brother, it's that he loves you madly. What in the bloody hell made you think otherwise?"
"Let's see… he avoids me, spends his days with God knows where and with whom, and hired me as a personal babysitter for his hyrbyds and a searcher for new werewolf packs, of course, from a distance, because even though he treats this damn house like a hotel, he makes me stay in it like a ghost in a fucking crypt! I'm sick of this, Bekah. I know he's hiding something from me. Okay, he may have secrets and plans of his own that he doesn't want to tell anyone; he has done it before. But this time, he's crossing the fucking line." in my frantic speech, I didn't notice that I was swinging my glass from side to side, spilling its contents onto the couch. I sighed, not really caring. It's not like Klaus would notice. He would have to stay here for more than an hour first.
I staggered to the bar to pour myself another glass, but Bekah's gentle grip on mine stopped me.
"Maybe we've had enough of this wine, eh?" she asked thoughtfully, taking the glass from me and placing it on the bar. Seeing tears welling up in my eyes, she pulled me close to her and started stroking my hair reassuringly.
"What have I done wrong, Bekah? Why doesn't he love me anymore?" I asked, sobbing, letting myself let out all of the stress and helplessness I'd felt for months.
"Shh… it's okay, darling. Everything will come back to normal, trust me. Just be a little more patient."
"Rebekah! Y/N! There is a way to make Elena human again. We can have our hybrids back! Of course, we will have to modify our plans a bit. We can't have a repeat of what happened last time. Caroline told me… What happened, love? Are you crying?"
Klaus suddenly came back and walked over to where the two of us were cuddling. He looked at me clearly distressed, but he didn't seem to notice that my sobs only increased after hearing HER name fall out of his lips.
"It's nothing, Nik. We got a little drunk, and now we're more sensitive, aren't we?" Rebekah thought on the spur of the moment, stepping away from me. I just nodded my head, falling into the hybrid's open arms.
Ironically, the man who had driven me to this state was the only one who could comfort me in any way.
"I got you, love. Let's take you to our bedroom."
He took me in his arms, slowly carrying me upstairs. Along the way, I couldn't help but wonder if I was the only one he called "love"?
I know I'm not the only one I know I'm not the only one I know I'm not the only one
Third-person's POV
"KOL! How could you take her there?!" the hybrid screamed, throwing another bottle of scotch he found in sight at his brother.
Klaus found a note left by Y/N. So was their empty bedroom, stripped of her belongings. The lingering scent of her perfume was the only trace that she had once lived here.
And he was furious with his brother. The dagger and white oak powder were safely tucked away in his pocket, and he was just waiting for the right moment to punish his brother. He took you right into the middle of his plan to seduce Caroline to get the information he needed. Kol sat her in the goddamn, fucking front row so she could watch him fawning over another woman while Klaus was only thinking of getting this whole Mytsic Falls fiasco over as soon as possible and holed up somewhere with his love for a well-deserved holiday.
Now he couldn't.
She disappeared.
And he had an insatiable lust for murder. His brother will be in that bloody coffin, where he belongs, by tomorrow.
"I wasn't the one of us who came up with the brilliant plan of chasing some blonde while your girlfriend was pining for you, you criminal genius!!" Kol shouted back and threw one of his brother's paintings at him.
If he was going to die today, at least he would defend himself to the last breath. In fact, he knew the worst thing his brother would do was put him in that fucking coffin. Unless he can survive long enough until Elijah returns.
"You know perfectly well that I did it to protect her! She is an ordinary vampire; any stick can kill her! Thanks to my false interest in Caroline, I killed two birds with one stone. I kept Y/N safe and could extract the information I needed. But she wasn't supposed to know anything until we left together! AND BECAUSE OF YOU, SHE'S NOT HERE!" he growled, attacking his brother. He lunged at the younger vampire, pinning him to the ground and trying to pierce his heart with his dagger. Kol, however, tried to defend himself and did his best to keep the blade away from his chest.
"NO! Nik, wait! I can help you find her; we'll take her back to you; just don't do this to me! I can't come back to this coffin, please, brother!"
"You've done enough."
"NIKLAUS!" Kol breathed a sigh of relief as Elijah pushed their brother off him and snatched the dagger from his hand. "You have to calm down."
"Don't tell me what to do, and don't you dare take sides with this traitor! He brought Y/N there on purpose to destroy our relationship! You've always flirted with her, but if you think that's how you'll finally have her, you're sorely mistaken, brother." he spat out the last word with such revulsion that Kol flinched, beginning to feel a real fear of Klaus. "I'm going to burn this damn world to get to her and disprove all the lies you told her about my action."
"I never wanted her for me, she's like a sister to me." he choked out, trying to reason with the maddened hybrid. He had never seen him like this before. He must have really cared about Y/N if he was willing to tear the world apart just to find her.
"It is because of you and your actions that Y/N escaped, and now you must face the truth and accept the consequences of your actions, Niklaus. You can't blame Kol for that. Besides, I don't think Y/N approves of you daggering us again."
"So what am I supposed to do now? She ran away from me!"
"Calm down first and hide that ridiculous stake you're hiding behind your back; none of us is your enemy. We will find her. You have my word."
The hybrid growled something under its breath in agreement and left the room, presumably to hide the originals' doomsday weapons once again. Kol stood next to Elijah, staring at their brother's retreating figure.
"How the hell did he get it?"
"I don't know, but be glad I came on time. When it comes to Y/N, he's capable of doing a lot of things." he muttered, following the footsteps of the hybrid.
"Yes, but he wouldn't kill me, would he? Elijah?! Would he?!" panicked, he ran after his older brother, deciding that until they found Y/N he would stick to his suit jacket like his life depended on it. Which was actually true.
And I know, and I know, and I know, And I know, and I know, and I know, know I know I'm not the only one
Second-person's POV
You've been hiding with Katherine in her family home in Bulgaria for a month now. You honestly doubted it was safe to live in a place so important to her, with Klaus' minions and debtors looking for you all over the world, but you didn't question her methods. After all, she had been running from him for 500 years. She was more skilled than you.
In addition to visiting her hometown, going to various human events, and sunbathing in her garden, you spent your days reflecting on your relationship with Nik. The original left you at least 20 voicemails every day. You didn't complain about the lack of contact between the two of you. Sometimes you listened to part of them, sometimes they ended up in the trash, and sometimes Katherine took your phone so you wouldn't even think about picking up the call from your ex-lover.
But they all said the same thing: "I'll find you."
The vampire tried everything in her power to make you forget about him. However, dating, flirting, and sex escapades with people as drunk as you have not yielded any results. Besides, it ended when the news reported that one of these unfortunates had died with his head detached from the rest of his body. You two still have no idea how Klaus found out (because it was clearly his job), but you didn't want innocent people on your conscience, so Katherine stopped looking for new guys for you.
However, this particular incident was not repeated. None of your one-night stands have lost a life except this one. You guessed that Klaus, in his frustration (he must have had a really bloody day or something), sent you this kind of warning. Or maybe Caroline just successfully occupied him with something else, so he stopped threatening you.
You shuddered.
You couldn't think about him being with her like you two used to be. Not yet. Not when Katherine just turned your switch back on.
So instead, you went back to tending your garden. Even before you met Klaus, you had a weakness for growing flowers, exotic shrubs, and plants. Now you have more than enough time and space to get back into your hobby. And Katherine approved of everything you did, as long as it wasn't about Klaus. You could have sworn you'd seen her water some of your plants herself. And you could confidently say that you both love this place.
Your phone buzzed again today. Klaus. This time, instead of a voicemail, he sent you a text.
"Him again? Why don't we just burn this phone, dance around the fire, sing about how much we hate him, and buy you a new phone? Maybe with some handsome, charming man or woman bundled?"
"What if he finally gets tired of chasing after me and leaves me alone? How will I know if I change my number?"
"Very funny. Do you think Caroline will make him a saint?" I froze at those words, pausing before cutting a dead twig. "Fuck. I'm sorry, I didn't want to…"
"No, everything's fine. You're right. I should be able to function normally now and stop tensing up every time I hear one of their names."
"Well, after being with this maniac for 300 years, I believe you may still be experiencing harmful side effects."
"Hold." you threw her your phone. "Do what you want with it. I'm going to change clothes, and we'll have fun in the city. If I remember correctly, there's supposed to be some kind of mask festival there, right? So it's perfect for us."
"And that's the attitude I want to see!"
You smiled as you walked away from her, laughing, towards the house. Who knows? Maybe today you'll find the only one for you.
~•♤♤♤•~
"Hurry up! I want cotton candy!" you tried to shout over the crowd of people around you and grabbed the reluctant brunette by the hand, dragging her with you.
"You're acting like a child, but you're happy, so I'll forgive you this time."
"Come on. Just admit you like it."
"Yes, my dream was to go to the ferris wheel, ride bumper cars, and eat cotton candy with a 300-year-old vampire wearing a mask that prevented me from breathing or eating a normal human meal."
"See, I told you you'd like it." the brunette rolled her eyes, pulled your arm into a half-hug, and smirked mischievously. Oh no. Yoy knew that look.
"The hot brunette on the 4th has been staring at you ever since you got in that stupid line. Go and have fun, or I'll eat all your cotton candy."
"But Kath..."
"Don't "Kath" me! Get your ass over to him or I'll push you myself!"
"Terrorist." you snorted, taking her arm off you and walking over to the man who was staring at me.
If you were human, you wouldn't have approached him. He was at least... strange. He was standing in the shadows, leaning against one of the least frequented stalls. His mask covered his entire face, unlike the others; even part of his hair was hidden from people's eyes. Besides, Katherine must have gone blind in her old age. His hair wasn't brown; it was blonde. Dark blonde...
You shuddered. It couldn't be Niklaus. You must have been paranoid. If he had found us, he would have hit you without thinking. He wouldn't be lurking in the shadows for you; he'd get rid of the problem right away. You weren't naive; you knew too much for him to let you live.
But you couldn't shake the feeling of something familiar as you looked at the stranger.
"Hi, I'm Y/N. You have a very nice disguise." you smiled and extend your hand in greeting.
The stranger took your hand and put it to the golden metal mouth carved into his mask. Without knowing why, you shivered with excitement. You felt so weird. Like you've done something like this before.
And then that single, most important memory in your whole life reminded you why you should run away from a stranger as fast as you can.
You've already met him. At a masquerade ball, at your cousin's estate, the ones fucking 300 years ago wore the same fucking mask.
It was Klaus.
You were about to yank your hand out of his grip, but he pulled you closer, turning your back to his strong chest. He took three steps back, completely drowning both of you in the dark. He dropped his mask, pressed his hand over your mouth, preventing you from uttering a scream, and rested his chin against your shoulder, breathing deeply as he buried his nose in your hair.
Katherine will never find your dead body.
Your heart beats faster with each silent second.
"Hello, love. I think I finally caught you." under other circumstances, you would quiver with excitement as he whispered those words lewdly in your ear. Now that his love was located elsewhere, you were afraid of what he might come up with for you.
You trembled in his arms, waiting for his next step.
Instead of some sudden, no doubt painful move on his part that you were expecting, the original took off his coat and put it on you, making sure all the buttons were buttoned up.
You couldn't do anything but watch him in shock. You're sure if you weren't so tense and stressed, your jaw would have dropped to the floor instead of clenching nervously in anticipation.
"Let's take you home, love. We all missed you." he grabbed your hand, trying to lead you out of the festival.
"Won't you kill me?" the hybrid froze, slowly turning to face you. He cupped your cheek gently with his hand and looked at you with pure love and adoration in his eyes that more or less masked the sadness behind them.
What the fuck?
"The only person I want to kill right now is my little brother. You, love, are all that matters to me."
He cupped your lips in a passionate, longing kiss, entwining his hands in your hair. You moaned, giving in to the pleasant feeling of being close to his body. At one point, fireworks exploded around you, causing you to shudder slightly in surprise. However, Nik continued kissing you as if his life depended on it, with a small, happy smirk.
Wait a minute…
Realization has passed through your mind.
He didn't want to kill you.
He was looking for you because he missed you.
He loved you.
So he and that blonde monkey…
You pulled away from him, slapping him across the cheek. He sighed, rubbing the slightly sore spot.
"I admit, I deserved it…"
"What the hell were you doing with Caroline?! You think you can play with her behind my back and come for me after a month like nothing ever happened?! You're in so much fucking trouble… why the hell are you smiling?!" you shouted as you saw a satisfied, blissful, even grateful smile form on his face.
He must have gone completely insane this month without you.
"You have no idea…" he paused, reaching for you to pull out a small velvet box from the pocket of his coat and open it to reveal your ring. "How much I missed you."
"Don't even think that after all this, I'm just jumping into your arms. You must have been up to some stupid plan of yours, AGAIN, that involved that bitch and instead of telling me anything, AGAIN, you decided to do everything yourself and got so involved that you forgot about everything else, AGAIN?"
"Maybe?" he glanced at you, embarrassed, fiddling nervously with the ring box in his hands.
"God. You're lucky, I love you." you growled, taking the ring from him and putting it on your finger, then pulling him to yourself and kissing him hungrily, trying to make up for those lost (BECAUSE OF HIM) weeks.
He moaned into your lips, willingly committing to return your kiss. You pulled away from him before it turned into a full, hot makeup session between the two of you.
"I have to go back to Katherine's for my stuff. I'll text you when and where we'll meet."
"I will go with you…"
"NO! I will not expose Katherine to you. I'd been waiting for you for months in a cold, empty bed. I believe that you will last a few hours without me."
"Hours?"
"You wanna change it into days?" you asked, raising an eyebrow in challenge.
"No. I'll wait for you." he replied quickly, not wanting to part with you for longer than it necessary.
"Perfect." you gave him a quick goodbye kiss and ran back to Katherine.
Well, maybe you were the only one after all. - you thought with a smile, fiddling with the ring that was adorning your finger again.

We finally see the flashback of Katherine giving birth to Sirius and Bella with Mikael's help and then Mikael telling Klaus about them and Katherine turning into a vampire and her bond with the twins
*Part 3*
Warning: One swear word
Tumblr media
Katherine sat in the room after 3 hours of labour, she held you both in her arms, she pressed a kiss to both you and your sister’s head “you must tell him.” Mikael said as he stood to the side of the bed. “Why did you help me?” Katherine asked. “This will draw him back.” Mikael answered “then I will kill him, surely you will enjoy being free of him.” “What about them?” She asked. “They will be fine as long as he is dead.” Mikael answered.
Mikael found Klaus with no problem at all, his hands up in surrender as he came into sight Klaus immediately attacked him pressing him against the tree behind him, Mikael easily turned the tables pressing him against the tree “I’m not here to fight you Niklaus.” Mikael said. “Why would I believe that?” Klaus asked. “Katherine has given birth to two healthy children, they are your children.” Mikael said. “I can’t have children, I’m a vampire.” He said through gritted teeth and Mikael shook his head. “You're a hybrid monster, the werewolf in you can still have children.” Mikael explained as he pushed away from him “Kathrine will wait for 1 week if you aren’t there by then I’ll kill the children and then you.”
You had been walking down the road when you saw what looked like your sister, you were careful as you approached, you knew that it could have been a trap but you couldn’t just let her walk away from you if it was yours. “(Y/S/N)!” You called out, she turned to you and smiled as you got closer “what are you d-doing here, you your-” “Grandma Esther brought me back.” She said softly as you took her face in your hands and looked over her face. “Why?” You asked. “I wanted to meet our little sister and come back to you.” She answered. “She’s not our sister.” You denied easily and your sister sighed. “I thought you would say that.” She said softly. “You should come back with me and meet her, you might change your mind.” (Y/S/N) pleaded and you laughed, it was bitter and angry. “I knew that this wouldn’t work.” You looked over at your father appearing from the alley. “You're working with him?” You asked. “As you should be.” Klaus said as he sped towards you, his hand settling on the back of his neck as he looked into your eyes “you will come back and help us protect-” You kicked him in the chest and sent him flying across the street. “Fuck you.” You glared at him and disappeared. “I told you force would not work.” (Y/S/N) said as Klaus stood wiping his mouth. “Well if he refuses to help, then I’ll have to eliminate the problem.” Klaus said as he spat his blood onto the floor. “I will not let you kill him.” She glared at him. “I’m not going to kill him, I’m just going to stop him from working with Mikael and Davina.” He answered.
Katherine smiled as she placed her hands over her eyes, she could hear both your heart beats and giggles as you looked for somewhere to hide. “3,2,1 I’m coming to find you!” She called as she uncovered her eyes, she smiled as she listened for your heartbeats, you were in the closet, and your sister was hiding under the table in the kitchen “hmm… Where have they gone?” She heard your sister giggle from the kitchen but you were silent, she walked into the kitchen. “I think I found you princess.” She bent and lifted the tablecloth but before she could reach out and grab your sister you pressed the stick against her back. “You lose.” You said, she glanced back at you, you had moved without her even realising. She smiled at you and picked you up. “Well done my little prince, you’ll protect your sister from everything won’t you?” She asked. “Of course.” You answered and she nodded, she wasn’t worried given the fact that most of the games that you played were geared towards killing vampires, so the day you found out about them you would be able to kill them yourself, you’d otten good since you had started, your sister still needed some work but with you around that didn’t matter. “She’s yours to protect.” She finally said as she put you back on the floor and you both connected hands and headed back into the livingroom to continue playing.
You leaned over your sister’s grave as you traced your fingers over her name “why would you abandon me?” You asked as you looked at the flowers that you had placed on it, you fell to your knees in front of it, Klaus had taken everything from you, you had nothing left so you were going to take everything from him, all you needed was some time. “You know what you are going to do?” Mikael asked. “He’s impatient and impulsive so he’ll come to me, that's all I need.” You answered. “And those that come with him?” Mikael asked. “They can watch him die.” You answered. “So be it.” He smiled.

can you make headcanons about yandere kol mikaelson x fem human reader
I can absolutely do headcanons for Kol Mikaelson! Thank you very much for the ask anon and I hope you enjoy these headcanons!
AN: This ask and my response to it deals with yandere content, kidnapping, canon typical violence, and behaviours. This means it will have dark elements. I do not condone yandere behaviours in real life.
Tumblr media
Despite their frequent fights and arguments, Kol and Klaus are very similar.
They are similar when it comes to the type of yandere they are and how they treat their darlings.
You bumped into Kol after he had stormed away from Davina following their argument about her controlling Mikael with magic. Kol had called her reckless and thoughtless. He was also furious with her because she had lied to and manipulated him into revealing his father's location.
Still angry, Kol gazed down at you with a sneer. As soon as he saw you, his sneer faded away. You were the most beautiful being that he had ever seen.
You didn't know much about the Mikaelsons but you did know that you were in danger and an apology quickly fell from your lips.
Charmingly, Kol lifted one of your hands and pressed a kiss to your knuckles, "A beautiful creature such as yourself should not worry about apologising when something so wonderful has transpired from our meeting."
Still on edge, you pulled your hand back and without hesitation, Kol introduced himself. You were about to do the same when there was a whoosh of air and you found yourself pressed against a tree with a vampire snarling at you and someone who looked to be a teenager standing behind the vampire.
That was how you met Mikael and Davina. Proudly, Davina revealed herself to be a witch and that Mikael was the father of the Mikaelsons, the Original vampires.
Underneath her pride and her smugness, you detected a hint of fear which worried you. Throughout Davina's introduction, Mikael hadn't said a thing. The vampire hunter stepped back at Davina's spoken command and you detected resentment in his gaze as he did so.
"I have a bad feeling that Mikael is fighting her control. How long do I have before he breaks free?" You wondered as your hands scraped against the bark.
The answer: not very long. Following your disappearance, Kol had gone to the only beings that stood a chance against their father. His tone was impatient and his words were biting and in the end, he convinced his siblings to assist him in fighting their father.
The Originals didn't take long to find you and during the fight, Davina's bracelet was destroyed. You trembled as you saw the same look of utter fury on Kol and Mikael's faces but for very different reasons.
Davina ran to your side, figuring that she would be safe next to you. It didn't take you long to realise that she was controlling Mikael with the bracelet. Your expression told her just what you thought about that idea of hers and she ducked her head.
The fight between the Originals and their father was violent, bloody, and rapid. Mikael was destroyed by his children and Kol was seething with rage at the fact that Davina had sought shelter from her actions next to you.
Kol eventually calmed down and from that point on, you interacted with the Mikaelsons on a frequent basis. Dinner parties with the Original siblings were always interesting and incredibly chaotic. You respected Elijah's constant efforts to try and maintain order when it came to his family.
It took time but eventually, you and Davina moved from merely tolerating each other's existence (Kol did go to her when he needed magical help) to an almost friendship.
Occasionally, you get glimpses of Kol's darker nature. Kol isn't one to hesitate if he feels insulted or if there is the tiniest hint that you are upset or uncomfortable. You jokingly referred to him once as your hellhound and to your surprise, Kol laughed.
He liked the nickname and so it stuck.
While Kol has access to some of the wealth that his family does, he prefers to show his love and appreciation in other ways. The Mikaelson will spend time with you (casually threatening those who interrupt your time with him) and he will tell you stories of his childhood before things became complicated.
He likes it when you hum tunes from movies and he will drop everything to watch movies with you. Kol will cuddle with you during the movie and the two of you will end up missing the ending because you've fallen asleep in his arms and he is so entranced by the way you fit perfectly in his arms and the way you look when you are sleeping.

Lellig - my daughter
Ada - daddy
Meleth nín - my love
Le annon veleth nín - I give my love to you
Outside of London, England 1800s
England had proven to be a safe haven for the Mikaelsons with them camping out in some woods trying to reach London but Klaus got them lost. Elijah found peace in the woods while his siblings had grown annoyed missing the rich lifestyle they lived before Mikael found them. Little did Elijah know was that he was going to find the love of his life.
King Y/N knew his daughter was an adventurous young Elf at the age of seven as she always managed to sneak away from her guard. But this time the young Elf was chasing a rabbit though the wood in hopes of catching it until she stumbled upon Elijah. Elijah was looking for fire wood when the Elfling found him.
"Hello Sir." Elijah looked hearing the small voice and saw the young Elven girl finding her adorable with her bright chocolate eyes looking up at him. The vampire was no stranger to Elves as the Originals had ran into a few over the years but he was surprised to see such a young Elf.
"What are you doing out here, little one?"
"Looking for a white rabbit Sir. I'm Ilyrana."
"I'm Elijah, maybe I can help?" Elijah says a little worried about leaving a young girl out in the woods alone. From that day forward the young girl met with Elijah teaching him Elvish and just how big her father's Kingdom was. Elijah had grown protective of Ilyrana as they met having grown close while Y/N wondered where his little Princess sneaked off to.
"Ada!"
"Yes lellig?" Y/N says smiling as Ilyrana came running up to the King as he waved his council away. Ilyrana gripped her father's robes smiling up at him as the the young Elf had told Elijah that he should meet her father and ask the King to stay with them.
"I want you to meet my friend." Ilyrana said dragging her father out with the guard following after. Y/N was a bit surprised that Ilyrana had found someone on their lands.
"Elijah! I brought ada!" Ilyrana chirped as Elijah looked over and his breathing hitched as he had never seen someone so beautiful before. Y/N looked so regal dressed in sliverly white robes making his skin tone stand out, his long dark hair pushed back by his crown.
"Ada meet Elijah."
"You must be Ilyrana's friend. Thank you for keeping her safe." Y/N said placing his hand on chest bowing as Elijah swallowed finding the Elven King very attractive. This wasn't the first time Elijah had been attracted to another male but the first time for Elijah to be attracted right away.
"Please allow me to welcome you and siblings to our home to stay."
The siblings were in awe with the beautiful halls as Ilyrana skipped along side Elijah telling him everything about the palace with Y/N smiling.
"King Y/N, why are these people here?"
"They are royal guest of your Princess so treat them as such." Y/N had told his council getting bows and handmaids came taking the siblings to their rooms so they could bathe and change.
"My Highness, I must thank you for your generosity."
"It is no trouble. For you have been a good friend to Ilyrana." Y/N tells Elijah smiling gently as he walked with Elijah who knew he was falling for the King.
Six months into their stay, Ilyrana had been making Elijah hang around her father as she noticed how Elijah looked at the Elven King. Elijah knew he was in love with the King but also knew that Klaus wouldn't allow him to have such happiness.
"Shh my little sparrow." Elijah heard Y/N coo as the vampire saw the King holding Ilyrana and Elijah was a bit worried stepping in the bed chamber.
"Is she alright?"
"Ilyrana has a small cold, nothing for you to worry about." Y/N tells Elijah laying a sleeping Ilyrana in her bed as healers came in to watch over the Princess.
"Walk with me, meleth nín." Y/N says as Elijah stepped in time with the King a little confused about the Elvish but walked along the graceful King. Elijah saw how the moonlight shined on the Elf that some how made the King more beautiful when Elijah remembered the small lessons of learning Elvish from Ilyrana and realized what the King called him.
"Le annon veleth nín."
"But Niklaus...." Elijah stopped talking when Y/N turned to him gently grabbing the Original's hand and Elijah felt his cheeks warm. While this wasn't the first time Y/N had been affectionate with Elijah this was different, more serious.
"Gave his blessing. I want nothing more than to love you, Elijah." Y/N said touching Elijah's cheek and Elijah swallowed leaning into the King's hand.
"Gi melin." Elijah whispered feeling Y/N press closer their foreheads touching and Elijah wrapped his arms around Y/N. The two stood there just taking one another in just enjoying one another's presence.
"Ilyrana will be excited."
"That she would, meleth." Y/N chuckled as Elijah followed the King to his bed chamber where they spent the night talking and just enjoying one another.

I'll Always Find You
Tumblr media
Request from @loxbbg Klaus Mikaelson x original reader where they were engaged but once klauses father began hunting them they split up. They promised they would find each other and end up in New Orleans and continue their relationship centuries later.
Cemeteries apart didn't stop my determination and sadness to get back to the only man I ever loved in my mortal and now immortal lifetime. Klaus Mikaelson, the original hybrid they call him at least in this century. The years before he was called one of the Originals that brought blood everywhere they roamed. I was among one of those rumors with his siblings until their prescence disappeared from the Earth. I could only assume that Michael his father had found them finally. That's why I am not by my fiancés side. I was terrified he would kill me like his children. Strolling down the busy streets of New Orleans I vamped inside a building shoving a human girl with blonde hair and green eyes. Popping my fangs out I almost bite into her neck until I am pressed harshly against another wall by someone holding a tight grip on my throat. "You seek to have a death wish by trying to kill her - Y/n it's really you?"
Blinking the tears from my eyes I gulped seeing the man that is holding me by the throat is Klaus himself. "Klaus...I finally found you.." His blue eyes locked onto mine slowly releasing his grip from my throat lowering me onto the ground so I'm standing on my own two feet again. Dropping my arms at my sides he slowly tilts my chin up to his tears welling in his eyes where I started crying too. "I thought about you everyday my love. There was even days that I thought you had died. But now I am relieved that you aren't." Leaning up on my toes I fling my arms around his neck kissing him without another moment to waste. He wrapped his arms around my waist lifting me up deepening the kiss where I felt almost of breath even though we didn't need air as vampires. "I was just thinking about you this morning. What it would be like if we could finally be together for real Klaus. Where you're father was a threat anymore...because I am hopelessly in love with you still Klaus Mikaelson."
"Mikael is dead Y/n. He can't hunt you anymore. I killed him recently once and for all. So I can now marry you and call you mine for eternity." Klaus vowed before I smiled wrapping him in a warm hug. He wrapped his arms around my waist kissing my forehead with the biggest grin I have ever seen. "I love you, Klaus Mikaelson always and forever. We promised we would find each other in the end and now I have." Breaking the hug I noticed the blonde human girl standing in the corner until Klaus waved her over resting a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry my fiancée Y/n gave you a scare Camille." She slowly walked up acting very brave for any human I had seen in my lifetime. "It's okay. It's honestly not the craziest thing I've dealt with since meeting him." Giving her a smile I lay my head on Klaus's chest with him draping an arm over my shoulder finally feeling at ease for centuries apart.
