so i've just watched first episode of the idol and where is that torture porn everyone was talking about??? like y'all have worked so hard to promote it as exploitation but it's so fucking tame compared to how people are talking about it it's ridiculous. like the disparity.... it's just a fun sexy show. and it seems sex positive on top of that (such a sin!). you need to be the the most exalted virgin or sex-under-the-covers-with-lights-off kind of person to be so freaked by it.

like what is this about. no one is that obsessed with george rr martin and wondering why is he writing 13 year old getting raped in graphic detail and then falling in love with her rapist etc. no one does that with others artists and authors to that degree (they can somehow separate fiction from reality and art from the artist), it's just sam levinson. like is it because he's been very open about his mental health issues (i mean euphoria is about that) and being institutionalized since childhood because the way people jumped on the "he's really weird" "something's off about him" "he's a freak" bandwagon when euphoria s2 blew up was very quick. like it seems to me an obvious conclusion that ableism and people just being weirded out by the mentally ill (particularly when it's mentally ill men because they're seen as dangerous) plays a part in this.
