i love the fall out boy songwriting progress and i love hearing about it so much. you have pete who doesn't really write full songs with music in mind but writes poetry & separate verses and isn't clear nor straightforward with what he wants to share cause it's not storytelling to him it's more about the feeling (& the movie references).

then you have patrick who looks at these lyrics and music just jumps at him then he (& joe) have to construct the song by putting together the lyrics that fit together and replace the words that don't fit to create rhythms and melodies and bring it to life.

and by their own admission the lyrics pete writes wouldn't work well without patrick and the music patrick writes for fall out boy just doesn't exist before getting pete's lyrics.
