i don't even have a smart or funny caption for this one because what the fuck does these looks from erik even mean. why is he looking at charles like he wants to climb him like a tree. why does he look so painfully fond. i'm convinced this man got his ass taken over by erik lehnsherr's real spirit in this scene and he was being puppetered around like ratatouille or venom. what were even simon kimberg's indications here i'm so confused

sometimes, I’ll accidentally find a really cute fanart, or a incorrect quotes that makes me laugh, and I’m not in the fandom or I don't ship it, but I’ll save it or like it anyway, right? and then I forget about it for a couple months, find new stuff, whatever. then I see it again, and I’m like, oh yeah! and I look up the characters because I’m a curious asshole with no form of restraint to speak of, and then I look up something else, and something else, and something else- and now if you insult that fandom or character you die and no jan it doesn’t matter that I’ve never seen or read the actual thing but this is now my life support and I need them and I can’t live without them and-

Strange rescues Clea in this sequel / prequel comic for Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme.
Loved getting to see Clea here, and this short story strengthens my stance of this adaptation being the best after OG Comic Strange.
Staying more faithful to the source material, Clea is Strange's pupil here, starting out a bit more naive but already showing a good bit of power.
I wish we could have gotten an animated serious or at least a comic for this version of Strange. The film & this comic left me wanting more - the signs of a great story.
This Dr. Strange really does have it all - development, depth, great expansion on his lore.
I feel gypped all the good adaptations of Doctor Strange were short-lived & the most we get is the MCU version which is the worst of the bunch imo. I already ranted on that, so I won't do it again here. Lmao But the saltiness is real with MCU's butchering of Strange. So I never miss a chance to take shots at it.

Just replayed "A Like Surpreme" the second time around and HHHHH my feels... first of all... the symbolism of Kerry gifting V his gun in the aftermath like, full on "I'm putting my life in your hands" vibes I'M NOT OKAY. ;____;
EDIT: ALSO! How fucking upset he looks when he's like "I almost shot Johnny with it, haha" and then V goes "yeah, and me" and Kerry is just HIT by that like by a train... like, OOOF.
Also him being so nervous about it all in the beginning, worried about having to "perform" his part (as he is the entire time ahead, playing it so cool while he's the only one shaking in fear). And then just letting go of all inhibitions on stage as the concert goes on, that made me so happy to just watch now with all my knowledge about him as a character and his story.
And then yeah, as mentioned in that other post I reblogged a couple days ago about his behavior with the sunglasses, having them on the entire time but then off for the convo afterwards. How he's so genuinely shocked when Johnny leaves him his guitar. And the gun thing and the sort of little repeat of his first proper encounter with V where he pats him on the shoulder as he leaves. But this time around it felt so much more genuine, no teasing, scheming behind the scenes, just "take care, I'll be in touch".
Like, is he cured of his depression? Hell no. And I think that's also obvious from what's gonna follow in his personal questline. But I feel like he's really genuinely happy and seeing a way forward again, even if it's just for that one evening.
Sorry I'm kinda rambling, it's late and I'm drowning in feels xD
And, random observation on the side re: I love the details in this game... It's Kerry's vocalist (Damien Ukeje) singing "A Like Surpreme" during the concert, isn't he? At least this song was a distinctly different one from the one I'm used to listening to on Spotify, the Refused version. And I mean, it makes sense, the Spotify version is the "original" recorded with Johnny as vocalist, but Johnny obviously can't be there to sing in 2077. They didn't have to go all the way out and make a separate version of the song just for the game but they did anyway... And I love that so much.

colin should 'suffer' for penelope
Tumblr media
aka: 5 short reasons why wanting colin to 'suffer' or 'grovel' or whatever other bullshit this fandom keeps pulling is stupid and makes no sense and should have been buried ages ago, how is this still a thing?
1: it sets a terrible and unhealthy dynamic between an endgame couple
especially considering Polin's motif is that of a mirror, if Colin is expected to grovel or suffer for Penelope's affection and forgiveness, it only stands to reason that Penelope then, too, would have to reciprocate. how Penelope treats Colin's ills is setting the precedent for how he's expected to handle her own against him, of which there are many. giving him the cold shoulder, holding what he said over his head and rubbing it in his face, potentially not even explaining why she's upset at him: these are not signs of a mature woman ready for a marriage to ANYONE
2: Colin's slights against Penelope are considerably less harmful than Penelope's against Colin's and it makes no narrative sense for her to be on her high horse about it
'he ruined her prospects' 'he talked about her behind her back' 'he laughed at her' (we don't even know if that one's true, frankly speaking)
but Penelope did the exact same to him and she did so first. Please remember that Penelope is the reason Colin and Marina broke up, and it was her express goal the entire time. Penelope humiliated Colin and Marina both by exposing them publicly (not to mention rubbed the salt into the wound for days afterward). Penelope didn't even think about Colin's feelings because she tried to confess her crush on him immediately after his engagement went poof. Penelope holding Colin accountable for what he said without herself recognizing the ways in which she's hurt him, too, makes her out to be a hella hypocrite
3: it's weirdly catholic on main?
love isn't about suffering points or penance or guilt and i'm tired of Christianity pervading every damn thing. sorry not sorry, some of us want an actually fulfilling love story
4: y'all are just mad Colin didn't love Penelope back from jump and it's a revenge fantasy
which, fine, that's what fanfic is for, but it's OOC, y'all are aware of that, right? because if he DID want her from the start, we all know that it wouldn't be Polin? why are you shipping a friends to lovers ship if you INSIST that the friends to lovers dynamic is less than? guess what? unreciprocated love is kind of part of the deal. you don't hold a grudge against your friend for not loving you back immediately. Colin shows he cares about Penelope in SO MANY WAYS that somehow are completely invalidated because it isn't meant to be romantic? imma say it: fuck you if you think that way. friendships are important and beautiful and deep and fulfilling with or without romance. Colin sticking his neck out for Penelope to help her family from Jack's scheme? an act of love. Colin sending Penelope letters after her father passed? act of love. Colin telling Penelope she's 'really very good' and holding her hand in appreciation of her coming to talk to him? act of love. if you think those acts of love mean nothing just because he isn't fucking her seven ways to sunday, maybe analyze your own viewpoint of relationships and ship Pen w/ some random stranger who makes heart eyes at her tits from jump
5: it makes Penelope an asshole to her own long term partner
dude, if a friend of mine insisted I crawl on hands and knees to determine whether they want me back in their lives, i don't want to be around that person? so many of these narratives make Penelope a straight up terrible person. if you want your partner to suffer? you probably don't actually like them very much, but Polin is narratively MEANT to be the couple that likes AND loves one another. be real, if your friend ghosted you for months, gave you the cold shoulder when you tried to talk again, treated you like shit (you can't argue that him 'suffering' isn't treating him like shit in some way shape or form) as you tried to apologize, and then you find out that she was the reason you and your ex broke up and she wrote straight up nasty things about your family for YEARS, you would want absolutely nothing to do with that friend. why should Colin be expected to be any different? do these two not deserve a lovely love story built on love and affection and trust and honesty? a healthy happy relationship in which they see one another and appreciate one another for all they are? no? so why do you ship them?
+1: it's oversaturated in this fandom
polin is a fantastic ship. how is THIS their main trope?
find a new fucking idea, PLEASE

no you don’t understand I don't want to "date" I want to be violently whisked into a parallel world and cross paths with an emotionally distant but capable stranger who saves my life and takes care of me only so that I can be well enough to go on my way, but then continue to coincide with each other and form a reluctant partnership in order to stay alive and find a way out of the situation at hand, only to end up accidentally unpacking all our deepest traumas, forming an inextricable bond, and facing many mortal dangers together, narrowly surviving them all because of each other, and later confess our love while wounded in hospital and spend the next week in undisturbed bliss, just to be promptly, inevitably torn apart by the powers that be, separately living our parallel but intertwined lives, before finally reuniting after a few years, never to let go again.

Tom's cancer goes:
0.
1.
2.
His breath is short and his throat hurts like he forgot do drink for days. His hands feel clammy and it's only when Ron's arm catch him that he realises he's falling. Every single person in the room is looking at him with the expression of who just saw a titan falling from the sky. But his feet are steady, more or less, on the ground. His best friend doesn't let him go until he's sure Tom isn't going to collapse again. He blames it all on exhaustion.
(It's not a total lie because when his parter isn't around he tends to work two to three times more than usual. Most of the time Charles, the Vice Admiral who has office a coupe of doors from his, finds him still working in the middle of the night and already working when he comes in at eight. All his concernes go blind on him.)
3.
4.
The house is silent when he comes back from the visit and Ron is still walking just a couple of steps behind him. Ron who's hands were big and warm while the doctor dictated his sentence and Tom was hoping, the whole time, for smaller hands in his. Pete is far away and he's going to be until the end of the year. By the time he's back Tom is probably going to be dead.
I have to- he starts but Ron is already taking away is computer and cellphone. Not tonight Tom, not tonight.
They don't talk a word until he falls asleep on the couch, Ron's arm around his shoulder and half of the dinner still on the coffee table.
5.
Writing to Bradley leaves him without energy for two entire days but it's the first round of chemio that does that, not the long and verbose mail he composes. He starts the white pages for forty minutes and writes seven different drafts. Dear Bradley, Kiddo listen, Lieuten-, Fuckin' christ, Baby Goose I really need y-, I'm dying, It's for Mav and the 8th is the good one because he writes as Admiral Kazansky and not as Uncle Tom. He writes to Bradley's superior and order him to give the boy, a man this days, five days of leave and that he has to report back in DC as soon as he's back in the States. Then he calls a person who will call another person and Bradley is going to arrive in Miramar.
6.
He spends hours learning ASL. The doctor says his voice could be forever damaged. He spends a little more time learning ASL.
7.
It takes almost three months for Bradley to be there because, as the superior officer writes back, right in that moment only some sort of deity would allow the Lieutenant to leave his mission and, contrary of popular belief, you Admiral Kazansky are still not a god. With all the respect, sir. By the time he's at the door step Tom's day is a full cycle of meds to take at what hour and how much morphine he's allowed the think about to take before that dosage got cut in half and then in half again. Bradley says Admiral Kazansky, sir with the whole salute and Tom can barley lift his arm to do the same.
8.
9.
It's not an easy argument to have. Ron makes them tea, kisses Bradley's forehead and he's out of the house for hours. At some point, while Tom is trying to explain papers and his will Bradley leaves the house too. He doesn't scream this time, he's not eighteen anymore, and the silence that follows is more defining than all the words he said the first time. He falls asleep on his armchair and wakes up for dinner, a table ready for three and only two person eating at it. He will come back Ron says. Tom would like to believe him.
10.
Somedays he's better than ever and registers long messages to Pete. Things he's going to listen when Tom is dead and he knows his husband would appreciate. He says I love you as much as he can and reads books and passages of their favourite poems. Once, seven months in to therapy, Tom records an entire hour of Pete's favourite pieces at the piano and sings along for what he can. Bradley is around and lately is always seem on the point of running away, for the third and last time. Tom is greatful he's still here. Ron calls him a romantic at heart and Tom gives him the finger. It's nice, they're laughing, and it almost doesn't feel like the last of his good days.
Tom's remission goes:
10.
9.
8.
He's still half asleep and there's a smaller hands in his, the weight of something, a head?, near is shoulder and his nose is full of the generic shit his husband likes to call his favourite shampoo and that make him cry more than the absence of his voice and the ugly scar that will forever sign his skin. He's alive and Pete is too.
7.
6.
Pete spends a lot of time kissing him, on his lips, on his cheeks and everywhere he can reach without moving away from him. Getting back home from the hospital isn't as smooth as he tought he would be and the road to heal is far from done. Bradley is still there, Ron is still there and Pete wants to say something, probably scream at him, but sometimes he can barley talk at all.
5.
He screams at Ron tho. He picks stupid fights, tries to make Ron angry and goes out on long walks and he almost end up in jail, more than once. Tom pulls some strings and let him fly, because flying is the only way Pete knows how to deal with emotions. He spends hours out there and he's mourning and giving all over again but this time no one is dead, not yet.
4.
3.
Speech therapy is a mountain Tom doesn't feel like he's never going to finish climbing in. But it helps more than he could ever think. And gives Pete the out to scream at him now, even if all he can do is answer with his fingers. It's ugly, how could it not be when he spent a year dying without having the possibility to tell it to his husband?, and it ends in tears from both sides but is a starting point. Another one.
2.
Pete takes on experimental programs that let him be at home at 5 and give him, them, free weekends. He learns ASL and he learns how to talk with Bradley again. Ron goes back on his boat, I missed this old gal he writes him in the first postcard he received, but everytime he has leave is sleeping in their spare room or on the couch.
1.
Bradley starts calling them Uncles again and then dad and pops. If Tom still had tears he would have cried over his icecream. He hugs him as strong as he can against his chest. He isn't as strong has he used to be but he's starting getting back a little muscle, he hopes the hug is warm as the warmth he feels inside.
0.
He says his second first word looking straight in his husband, now legally so, and says Pete and then I love you.
Polished version: here.
