something thats been eating at my mind to write/draw but if my boy hotrod/rodimus guest appeared in rescue bots this is whats been swimming around in my brain a while rambles down below

he wouldnt be like the main main focus hed be a guest star ofc

a new bot shows up on the island in vehicle form at first, but thats not really subtle cause hes a racecar and everybody is like "whats a racecar doing by this lake?" one that nobody super recognizes at first glance except fr salvage and blurr.

and blurr starts getting ecstatic when the bot transforms and its hot rod! (studio applause) and while blurr is going a lil nuts with excitement salvage fills them in that hes an old racer from velocitron and blurr is all like

"dude, hes not just 'an old racer' hes one of the greatest racers velocitron has ever seen!!!" and he starts infodumping abt him and in the back of his mind heatwave is like "greaaat another bot who doesnt think before he acts we gotta deal with" so they all go and approach him to find out what hes doing there

and blurr is really excited cause he thinks hot rod is so freaking cool and they can race and he can show hot rod his moves but hes not there on any kind of autobot business or even for racing much to everyones surprise.

hes only there to go fishing.

hes on vacation and been really excited for his fishing trip that hes been planning especially on a bot friendly island and by god hes looking to catch himself a real prize to brag about to the boys back home.

chief burns perks up at this, and its about time for the burn's annual fishing trip so they kinda end up combining the two trips. hot rods down for any good spots, and the others (mainly heatwave) wanna keep an eye on him

so the next day they all get ready and they go on the burn's trip first and are out to sea.

Salvage wants to try out something hes been working on around their spot and he stays on shore

Blurr is disappointed that hotrod isnt there to race but hes not passing up an opportunity to hang out with hot rod so he offers to go out with them on the water even tho he couldnt care less about fish. and maybe he can talk him into a small match later. Salvage kinda warns him not to get his hopes up, and that maybe he should take time to talk about other things with him. (blurr kind of blows him off tho which ruuuuuude!!! be nice!!!)

They get out on the water and everyone else is rlly casual and hit it off with hotrod p well. the burns family exchange stories with him, he talks about the states hes visited with some friends of his on earth. and ofc the conversation circles back around to the different fish hes caught chase questions if he has the proper liscenses for that. to which hotrod pulls up copies of some fr the different states he been in (all of them have the last name witwicky on them ;) ) all in all everyone is having a good time

everyone but blurr. he was hoping that maybe he could get some tips on racing, or anything to do with racing at all while theyre out there but hot rod's just really passionate about this trout he caught out in oregon and its driving him nuts. he ends up moping about it and just goes back to shore with blades cause he forgot his little hat and its just not the same without it.

They get back to the shore and salvage asks how its going and blades is like "Oh its great! turns out he speaks a bit of pirate too!" and stuff and blurr is sarchastically like "yeah its greaaaat" and they both kinda give him a look.

salvage is like "i take it hes not quite what you thought hed be like huh" and blurr is just "HE ONLY CARES ABOUT FISH. im never gonna be friends with him at this rate, hotrod is nothing like i thought he would be. im just gonna go back to hq"

and blades nd salvage just kind of look at each other and blades blades laughs a lil bit and blurrs a little peeved hes laughing but then they all get to talking a bit cause this reminds blades of when he was first getting to know bumblebee after their first meeting and he tells blurr a bit about it cause it was a bit awkward fr a while

blades had some ideas fr how exactly it was gonna be with bee and bee while he was enjoying hanging out just kinda asked him

"Do you want to be friends with me, or just the idea of me?"

and it made him stop and reevaluate things a little. ultimatley fr the better cause that kinda helped blades to take bee off the pedestal he had him on and just start really connecting with him just as he was.

and blades asks blurr if he was actually looking to be friends with hotrod or just the idea of how theyd be in his head and blurr kinda sits on that fr a bit without really saying anything

and salvage talks abt the time he and blurr first met a long lonnnng time ago and that the first impressions they had of each other weren't the best admittently and that salvage thought he really didnt have much in common with blurr but one day after they got to talking and racing came up in the convo and salvage saw a lot of the passion he had about it and it reminded him about a lot of his own passion for creating/inventing, he tells him that maybe you just need to give it some time and ask him about his other interests as well. really engage with him on it.

blades finally remembers he was there to grab his hat so he does and hes about to head back to the boat and blurrs like "wait, let me come back with you" and he gives it another chance

and it ends up working out. he asks him some more about his previous travels and they all start fishing again and the competitiveness rlly comes out in hotrod cause hes determined to catch the most and the biggest fish out of everyone on the trip now and blurrs trying to beat him and shenannigeans and hijinks ensue but they end up really connecting after that.

soon they get back to shore and everyone goes back to hq and theyre having fun and chatting late into the night hot rod decides he wants to take a quick ride around the island and he gets the ok and he asks blurr if he wants to join him!!!

blurrs really excited cause this is what he orignally wanted and was waiting for...but...

he turns him down, theyre hanging out again tommorrow anyway gotta make sure hes ready and all that and htos rods like "cant argue with that see ya tommorrow" and heads out

blurr goes down to where salvage is and just kinda watches as hes working on his projects and blurrs like "so uh... that thing you were workin on today... I didnt get the chance to see it in action..." and salvage glances over at him fr a second and then he smiles and they get to really chatting and talking abt it

and the first moral of this story is don't put people on a pedestal, take time to get to know them for who they are

but the second and most important moral is that there should be rodimus fishing memes

thats all i got rn

and reading this back this feels more like a bad my little pony plotline but yknow what that is ok.

suicidal+generally negative bullshit under the cut 🫡

guys i'm gonna be so fr with you i am basically working on autopilot at this point. ik i am very much on what's considered the right path and i'm doing a lot for the purpose of getting better but my heart's not really in it lol. i just do it bc it feels like i have no choice, dying is unfortunately not an option and i got bored of doing nothing else. but i really wish i had any reason to be doing any of this beyond boredom. esp given how much energy i'm putting into it while still feeling like shit and wanting to kms on a daily basis 🥲

maybe if i felt like i have a shot at greatness. but i know damn well mediocrity is the best i can aspire for (actually that's one of the biggest reasons i want to die lol)

bc of my bpd i can't exactly love people normally, i can either be at 0% and slightly above it, maybe at most 40% of love for my favorite people (which is a lot by my standards, like almost everyone in my family can't break 20%, for example), but i have 100% too except that's just pure obsession. and it feels good even tho i know it's toxic and unstable. that's my only way to feel a positive emotion strongly. so maybe if i had someone i could be (mutually) obsessed with

maybe if i was able to create things i could feel proud of. unfortunately due to me being their creator, i already hate them by default

like i wish i had. anything. beyond the need to stop being bored. it's not sustainable. i know i'm gonna crash hard soon bc this is simply not enough gas to run on, and i'm doing a looooot of running on a device (aka my body. and brain) that was not designed for that as is

i don't even have little things to look forward to bc i can't care about anything 😭 like my mom keeps asking me what i wanna do for my birthday so we can maybe set smth up with my siblings but i genuinely. don't want anything enough to bother. i see people talk about being excited abt a game or new season for the show they like and the whole "i can't die until i finish x" stuff but i was never good at that. i tried it before and as soon as the thing ended i was back to being suicidal as fuck. the whole point of that method is to keep finding more little things so it never ends but i struggle to even find one so that's once again not sustainable at all

i'm gonna be alive until march 25th bc i committed to giving a lecture on the 24th. that's it. i don't wanna screw them over. but after that...? i don't have a lot of things to commit to. i might be in some theater production if i pass my audition this wednesday but that'll just end a few months later too. and it's not like i could get into anything else in the real world lol

there's just no reason to be doing any of this and it's... really hard to be doing stuff when you have no reason, i can't do it for the little things, how am i supposed to do it for literally life at large. i was gonna say it feels impossible but nah it'll be more right to say it IS impossible 🥲 no hope for me 👍

my milgram ocs' twst versions!

hi i know it would probably make more sense to post this on my milgram ocs blog but like. i felt like since it's also related to twst it would be weird so uh. IF I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO POST SOMETHING I JUST POST IT HERE.

so anyway, here's how my milgram ocs would look if they were twst characters!

some notes:

all of them would act the same way their younger (or in asahi's case, older) versions acted in the past, not counting akio, aimi and riku who are the same age as they are in canon.

of course, they are not murderers here, but a lot of them have the same backstories they have in canon, so yes, sanada family is still.. bad, kei and eiji's relationship is still extremely toxic, riku still has to deal with that childhood friend of his, etc. however, miki and asahi's story is different here and asahi never ran away from home in this au and they started living with their grandparents after their father's death. because of that, asahi is much calmer here, his pupils are the same shape as miki's and he's fully aware that she is his sister.

i really wanted to write full profiles for them, but.. gonna be honest, even thinking about it makes me feel tired jdkdlsls. like, i couldn't come up with some things, so i decided not to worry about it too much and just. not write it at all 👍 there also was another problem, which i can describe only as "girl help most of their family members actually have canon names but i can't reveal them rn bc spoilers but i also want to talk about their families AAAAAAAAAAA i guess i just won't write anything" god wouldn't it be funny if i spoiled the names of some victims and the third guard on my main blog instead and yes, i can come up with everyone's family members' names, but thinking about stuff like favorite food, their clubs, etc, makes my brain hurt. idk how that works.

also, i actually drew akio and aimi BACK IN MAY, so if they look a bit different from the others, that's why.

OKAY SO UHHHH NOW WATCH ME RAMBLE ABOUT THEM OR SOMETHING

akio acts the same way as his canon counterpart which is great, because azul now has both him and hayden in his dorm :) i think he would most likely be in an archery club let's pretend nrc has one since he was in one canonically before the club president had to leave. like, honestly, i don't talk about it much, but this guy actually?? is pretty good at archery?? and he even likes it, though he still refuses to see it as his hobby and says that studying is more important to him. man, this guy just can't let himself be happy and enjoy things 😔 his best subject would most likely be magical analysis, though i think he would be good at almost everything.

aimi, just like akio, acts like her canon self, but thankfully, she's not a victim of bullying in this au and she's just really clumsy, so that's where all her injuries, cuts and scratches come from wow she would get along great with vance for some reason i think heartslabyul would be a good dorm for her? though to be honest, i just want to see her interact with the other students there, haha. i just want her to have someone to talk to, okay 😭 i think she would most likely join the gargoyle studies club because she would see malleus and go "wow.. he's just like me fr.." she doesn't even care about gargoyles that much, but he's just as lonely as her so :] yeah she's gonna join. it's hard to say what her best subject would be, since canonically she's not really good at anything and her grades aren't the best. she doesn't even try to get better at anything, actually.

shun's hair color is different here, since that's what his hair looked like when he was eighteen, and that's his natural hair color. I HAD TO MAKE HIM AN IGNIHYDE STUDENT OKAY I HAD TO. THIS GUY IS AN IDIA KINNIE ANYWAY. i have no idea what club he would be in, honestly, though mayyyybe the basketball club? but i think he would join only if someone asked him (or maybe kei and eiko saying something like "you'd look good in that club's uniform" would be enough) . this guy is surprisingly strong, even though he would rather stay in his room and disassociate for like an hour or two and forget about everything.

yes, naomi had shorter hair when she was younger! i actually kinda think she looks better with hair like that. so i originally thought that she would be a human, but then i was like "i mean.. her t1 mv had a water theme.. and also she would be an octavinelle student.. and she would look pretty as a mermaid.. so.." so yeah, she's a mermaid now :) please don't ask what kind i'm begging you my brain is just saying "MERMAID PRETTY. THAT'S ALL" listen, her being an octavinelle student makes so much sense to me. like look at her. she's so nice, she's so polite, she's so smart, she surely doesn't have any bad intentions, right? :)

oh god, kei was.. an interesting person when he was younger. just so you understand, he actually was worse when he was younger. like, if you don't count him lying all the time, his mood swings and him wanting to be treated like a younger brother and not the older one, canon kei is actually pretty chill compared to his 18 y/o self. now, again, i wanted to make him a human, but then my brain went "but wouldn't he look good as a merman" and i said "he would but i can't imagine eiji being a merman" and then my brain went "well it doesn't matter." and look he's a merman now. also i'm looking at him rn and. wow, lina, we still don't have rielle's official design, so you decided to take everything into your own hands HJSKSKSLS. i think pomefiore is a fitting dorm for him? i can kinda imagine him being in octavinelle and scarabia too, but i feel like him being in pomefiore makes more sense to me, especially when i think about his t2 self. this guy is more concerned about his appearance than it seems and he also thinks his appearance is his only redeeming quality, so... :') and yeah, let's pretend nrc has a photography club, because he would definitely be there.

listen. listen, i agree, eiko being in ignihyde would make a lot of sense, especially because of her mvs. but i also think she deserves better JSKSDLSLDLS and i just can't imagine her getting along with other students there? flirting with nerds who never got any female attention sounds fun though, but she already has shun. and come onnn, the concept of kei and eiko being in the same dorm is so fun!! i think she would be in the film studies club and her best subject would most likely be ancient incantations.

YESSSSS that's how 16 y/o asahi would look like! he sure is a pretty boy <3 i can imagine him being very tall too. and thankfully, because he never ran away from home and was raised by his grandparents and his older sister, he grew up to be a calmer version of his canon counterpart, though if someone says anything bad about miki, he won't hesitate to call them out in the same manner canon asahi would. he's definitely still traumatized because of the way his and miki's father treated both of them and he still blames himself for his mother dying (he doesn't have that "imaginary mother" in this au btw!) though. he's very attached to his older sister and even though he's taller and more intimidating than her, he can often be seen holding her hand or hiding behind her back. something about him being in heartslabyul just sounded right to me and i think his best subject would be potionology. for no reason at all :) now that i think about it maybe pomefiore would be a good dorm for him too

yurika would act just like her younger self and that means she would act much more confident and she would look down on others a lot, though i think she would be a bit insecure about her interest in animanga and games, like.. isn't that kinda lame? her homeland being queendom of roses and her dorm being heartslabyul just sounds perfect to me because of her color palette jdkdsksl and hey, i think it would fit her because of her personality and vibes too!

riku would act the same way as his canon self, and honestly, i mostly chose diasomnia because i thought he would look good in their uniform and that their aesthetic would fit him a lot :'D though i think, if you take his personality, diasomnia is a good choice for him, since diasomnia students are like, usually the strongest and most talented magic users, and we already know how talented riku is in canon and he sure feels a lot of pressure because of that. "why is he a merman" because his t1 vd's title. i actually wasn't sure what i want his race to be and i thought that him being a human makes more sense, but. but come on!! his t1 vd!! he's canonically great at singing!! come on!! and yes, of course, his best subject would be music and he would be in the light music club.

yes, reina already acted like that when she was a teen. she was.. quite a rebellious teenager, actually. her being a beastwoman just makes so much sense to me, like!! look at her!! she's a catgirl!! she's so >:3!! her being a catgirl is so ironic because of her and riku being a prisoner pair, but i'm not gonna say anything else i wasn't sure about her dorm at first, but then i looked at my other ocs and went ".. we need at least one jock" so here she is! her best subject would most likely be flying and i think she would love to join the board games club simply because she would think it's fun.

OH EIJI... OH MY POOR BEAUTIFUL SON.. yeah. yeah, he was not doing well when he was seventeen he's still not doing well actually . he would still wear bandages, but he would try his best to hide them, for example, with a scarf or longer sleeves, because back then he refused to talk about how bad his relationship with kei actually is and he even wanted to protect kei's reputation. and of course, he would be in heartslabyul, like, of course he would be in a dorm based on rules and order. now that i think about it.. a second year heartslabyul student with red hair who is obsessed with always being in the right, has a serious personality and also has a really bad relationship with a particular family member.. that sure sounds familiar.

yeah, 17 y/o miki looked basically the same as her 18 y/o self and even though in this au miki has a slightly different backstory, she would still act mostly the same way as her canon version. also, about her dorm.. i actually kinda wanted her to be this universe's yuu and be a ramshackle student BECAUSE HEAR ME OUT. this school is full of pretty boys and she can try to fix all of them. like i know that she would RUN to those guys who overblotted and do the whole "I KNOW THIS ISN'T YOUR HEART" speech. but yeah, this wouldn't make any sense bc her brother is a magic user and all. soooo i decided to send her to octavinelle because yes, this girl is cute, but she's also just as manipulative.

also, yes, everyone has a unique magic! and i decided not to think too much about titles and just went with their t1 songs fjdjsdkskls (not counting the guards).

staying at the top: makes akio become better (to the point of becoming an expert) at literally anything, but if he uses it even for simply ten minutes, he will have no choice but to spend the rest of the day in bed because of how much energy his unique magic requires. he accumulates a lot of blot too, so his magic has more cons than pros, but he still uses it pretty often to impress people.

portrait of friendship: makes anyone want to become closer with aimi, but once she's done using her magic, they will forget about everything that happened and they'll most likely want to leave her. she uses her magic very often though and for long periods of time, so.. she's probably very close to overblotting.

error screen: with his magic, shun is able to steal other people's good memories and make them his own instead. he starts feeling like a happier person because of that, but because his bad memories get replaced with those, his memory starts getting worse and worse to the point of him questioning what's real and what's not. and yes, just like akio and aimi, he still uses it all the time, just because he doesn't want to feel any negative emotions.

empty desk: her unique magic helps naomi completely ignore someone's presence and makes that person invisible to her. even if they touch her, even if they yell at her, no matter what they do to make her pay attention to them, she won't see them, won't hear them and won't feel their touch. she doesn't think her magic is that good or interesting, but she does use it sometimes when she needs a break from certain people.

hot pink illusion: kei is able to use his magic only on himself and his magic is supposed to make him feel like everything around him is better than it actually is. no one is arguing, the weather is nice, people think he's cool, all of that. he can use it only for short periods of time though, so if he's having a bad day, he has to use his magic many times in one day to feel better.

lost in perfection: similar to kei's magic, eiko's magic helps her make objects or even people look better than they actually are. it doesn't change their real quality though, so for example, if she tries to make something look less fragile than it is, it will still break easily.

never satisfied: asahi doesn't like his unique magic that much and finds it useless, since his magic helps him "make the number of something bigger", like food or money, but if you try to eat that food, it won't taste like anything and you also won't be able to buy anything with that money, so basically, it's just an illusion not a hot pink one though and it's simply there to.. comfort someone, maybe? help them feel better about themself? make them feel like they're satisfied with what they have even though they are clearly not?

heart-shaped candy: if yurika puts her hand on someone's chest, she will be able to make them say what they really think about someone or something or talk about something that's been bothering them but they couldn't talk about it, basically, "get it off their chest". after that, the person won't remember what they said, but they will feel much better.

jump together: basically ruggie's UM, but worse, because if riku wants to make someone do something, he has to do the same thing in front of them or with them. if he wants to make them jump, they have to see him jump or he has to hold their hand while he jumps. if he wants to make them sing, he has to sing too and they have to hear it. If he wants to make them cry, he has to cry too and they have to see it, you get the idea. and yes, they will remember everything. so if riku really wanted to hurt someone with his UM, it would be much more difficult for him because he can't hide and that person either has to see him or he has to do that thing with them.

no reason: she can change anyone's memories and make them feel like they've seen reina instead of someone else in their memories, for example, if they saw someone break a vase, reina can change their memories and make them feel like they've actually seen her break that vase and not anyone else.

the guard's punishment: if someone does something to him, eiji can use his magic to make them do the exact same thing to themself and it works for both good and bad things, like giving him a gift or hurting him. he knows he could use it as self-defense against kei, but.. he knows that no matter what kei says, that guy's pain tolerance is low.

the price of forgiveness: if someone is blaming themself for something, miki can help them by taking that feeling of guilt and making that person feel more free and less anxious, but miki will feel guilty instead. miki will eventually forget about that person's action that made them feel this way, but the feeling will still be there and it will take a while for her to stop saying that it's actually all her fault.

+ bonus info about the side characters!

arata would be in octavinelle too and he would also be a first year and akio's classmate. they're just as inseparable here as they are in canon. also no murder means no breakup era!!

ruka would be in pomefiore and he would be a second year. so yeah, he not only shares a dorm with kei but that guy is also his annoying upperclassman. great. he actually doesn't mind at all

.. too many of my ocs are either heartslabyul, pomefiore or octavinelle students but yes, takame would most likely be in octavinelle too and she would be a third year. yurika would surely respect her senpai a lot <3

okay omg YEAH i am currently super obsessed my brain is so -@;!()!-?-&!;/!@,' (sobbing) but TYSM FR WAH ..... >___< and honestly i really do rec hades it's so good (I GET YOU BTW i haven't actually. like got incredibly far in the game but i do have a fair amount of time in it + the only reason why i have it tbh is bcs of a family member <//3)

(OKAY I PUT THIS UNDER A READ MORE IF THAT'S FINE I'M SORRY IF THIS GOT LONG i was just replying normally and didn't realize i said so much oh my god)

OKAY SO. okay. tbh i'm not completely sure what i like the most but it's probably a combo of the art design/style + gameplay + characters. the art i'd say is incredibly beautiful and unique !!! the designs are really lovely and all (esp as someone who is a big fan of greek mythology which is one factor as to why i love the game so much!) <3 the gameplay is REALLY fun. and good. it's a roguelike game and it actually ties to the game's concept of death and resurrection ?? (underworld stuff. zag is literally the god of rebirth) and it's REALLY good at what it does. very addicting. no run is exactly the same and i personally didn't think i'd be fond of roguelike games but hades just really hits with it !! (a lot of people who don't like roguelike games seem to think this way too). tbh if hades is your kinda game then it genuinely is. sort of. really a Perfect Game ?? story + gameplay + visuals are like the three pillars of it and as far as i personally know all of that is just incredibly good. the protag is likeable, the other characters are likeable, i don't know some of the most important story bits yet but so far it truly is very interesting, each run is connected to the last (such that if you get a different boss, zag actually says smth abt that! it is a very fluid game. if that's properly describing it). LOWKEY EVERYONE IN THE GAME IS HOT. most likely bcs of the artstyle which is really just so nice <3 BUT YEAH i don't really like roguelikes bcs you kinda restart progress right? but hades really feels productive with each run (i even look forward to dying in game!!!!!) and there's so much failure but i don't really feel frustrated. it's a really rewarding game imo and no wonder a lot of people considered it to be their goty of 2020 (and it won a few awards for that too i think) <33 SORRY FOR RAMBLING SO MUCH BUT YEAH .... the game genuinely is just so good. also the voice acting is actually great. ALSO the romance options are super cool (AND POLY IS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE I THINK. INCREDIBLY COOL) and yeah the devs are worth supporting from what i know and are very inclusive it seems. might be wrong tho FKHSKDNSJ (EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTION THERE IS AN AROMANTIC CHARACTER IN HADES AS WELL. SUPER COOL. actually im not too sure but yeah)

at first he doesn't really notice the ring, "oh! that animation is different than normal" he notes, but mainly focuses on the beanie, comparing it to himself before he glances at chat to see them freaking out over the planet duck reference

tommy however, not to much, proud of you bc that must've been a ton of work!! but at some time it slipped his mind that you make indie and horror games; I think we all know he doesn't do well with horror games

so you liking horror and such made the textures look more ominous and just make it look like and area you don't want to be in, and the spook goes up even more with the shader!! it's darker than usual, there's unusual fog, the portals look too dangerous now, so on and so forth yk

so,, tommy didn't use the texture pack for long;;

if you ever raid him after you're done streaming and he has a question, he's literally just gonna ask you on stream

“Move out of the way!”

You turned horrified as a storm of ice flew towards you, and you were frozen in your place.

There was a noticeable change in your rivalry with Bakugou.

He seemed less interested in calling you harsh names, he resided himself to the basics.

“Dumbass”

“Idiot”

“Nerd”

Simple stuff. No mean nicknames poking fun at your, long gone was he tripping you in the halls or shoving your stuff on the floor. He didn’t laugh at you when you failed, he didn’t taunt you when you sparred with him. It was weird.

You were confused.

What’s wrong with him? Are you guys cool now? Every time you think back to that night in his dorm your face bubbles with embarrassment. You can’t help but internally kick yourself for being so stupid. Focusing in class was almost impossible, you could almost feel his eyes on you. You knew he was staring but you wouldn’t dare turn around.

You had to focus. A new partner training event was taking place today. Each of your classmates were to be paired up and made to fight against each other. Aizawa, tired of the bickering you and Bakugou used to have, decided that him always pairing you up was making things better between the two of you.

Not to mention he made it a competition.

You didn’t want to let Bakugou down. You knew he was super competitive and he’d be furious if the two of you lost. Especially since you were up against Deku and Todoroki.

After class you all walked onto Beta training ground, the giant city. Aizawa took the rest of the class to the camera room, as you, Bakugou, Todoroki, and Deku prepared yourselves.

“Good luck!” Deku wished you as he walked past. You heard Bakugou scoff. You turned around and caught him as his arms were crossed and he looked towards the sky. “You’ll be eating those words when your head gets pummeled into the ground by me and my partner!” he scowled back taking his place.

‘Me and my partner’. When has things ever been about anybody put him whenever he was in some kind of team. You brushed it off but it stayed in the back of your brain.

What did he mean?

You took your place as well preparing yourself. You took an offensive stance knowing Bakugou was going to go right in for the attack as soon as the bell rang. You glanced over at Bakugou. He glanced back mouthing ‘Don’t screw this up dumbass’. You rolled your eyes turning back ahead of you.

You all were getting tired.

The fight seemed to drag on and on and you all were getting tired. You and Bakugou had both taken on Todoroki and Deku separately. Of course Bakugou was going in on Deku leaving you with Todoroki. And you weren’t doing too hot.

Your quirk works better at short distance attacks but Todoroki was trying to keep you at bay. Using his ice side to keep you long range. You were running out of stamina and losing your momentum.

“Keep it together dumbass!” Bakugou shouted at you. You turned glancing at him before he shouted again.

“Move out of the way!”

You turned horrified as a storm of ice flew towards you, and you were frozen in your place.

You watched as the quick moving shards of ice flew at you, sharpened and pointed before a large explosion went off in front of you.

Bakugou stood in front of you angrily blowing up the shards that flew at you, his body shielding yours. He breathed heavily as he panted, the dust clearing around him. A giant bell rung, signaling a tie. Bakugou looked up and scoffed, kicking a rock as he angrily walked away.

You followed after him, running behind him. He had to be mad at you, there’s no way he wasn’t. You screwed up. “Bakugou! Baku wait!” you called, reaching for and grabbing his wrist. He pulled his hand away, glaring at you as he walked away.

That night you stood in front of Bakugou’s door, spicy ramen in your hand. You knocked, not hearing an answer and turned the knob. Surprisingly it opened. You poked your head in and saw Bakugou staring up at the ceiling in the room.

“Bakugou?” you asked. His eyes darted to you, he rolled his eyes and looked up again. “What do you want, dumbass?” he growled. You walked in, setting the ramen down on the night table beside him. “I got you some spicy ramen, and I wanted to say sorry about earlier. I didn’t mean to cost us the win.” you mumbled, staring at the ground.

Bakugou got out of bed, standing in front of you. He grabbed your chin forcing you to look up at him.

“I don’t give a crap about the win! You almost got yourself really hurt dumbass!” he shouted angrily. You looked at him, a mix of confusion and shock. He let you go turning his head. You felt a bit of relief and smiled a little.

“Aw,” you teased, wrapping your arms around him, your head in his chest. “You care about me.” Bakugou didn’t hold you back but his face was red, his voice shakier than normal. “Shut it, tell anyone and I’ll kill you.” he mumbled.

You giggled a little.

“Of course.”

Korekiyo:

Korekiyo is someone who likes to observe from afar. So when he met you, who astounded him with your beauty, naturally he took up the hobby of watching you. Not necessarily in a creepy way, but of course it unnerved you a bit. You weren’t sure what to think, seeing his beautiful golden eyes bore into you all of a sudden. But he was quite attractive… so it was a win, hopefully? When you decide to approach him, he’s actually a bit surprised - he knows he doesn’t have the best reputation in school. And for you to talk to him out of your own will? He may be a bit blushy under that mask. 😳

But eventually you find out that he’s just a guy who really loves anthropology and who really doesn’t deserve to be called suspicious by the other students. And he has a really soothing and hot voice, is very polite and nice to be honest.

Also, you have A LOT of nicknames for Korekiyo. They include, but are not limited to - Kiyo, Korey, Kork, Korky, Korky-Boy. Kiyo is endlessly amused by your wide variety of names for him. If it was anyone else calling him that, he would have politely declined, but you’re special to him. He isn’t afraid to speak his mind either, Kiyo will call you beautiful and list everything he loves about you, if you so desire. He’s so infatuated with you. 🥺

Kiyo is like, an expert in making tea. He would love to just sit down with you and sip tea while he tells you folk tales and ghost stories. And boy, he already loves you but if you show interest in anthropology and his stories, HE IS SO WHIPPED FOR YOU. If you ask to be his disciple, he would be shocked but so happy. Will probably do his “kehehe” laugh a bit too loudly but he’s so cute ok. Kiyo would probably start incorporating some folk lore with love in it when talking to you just to see you blush. Dates may include the two of you cleaning and tidying up his plentiful notes. I just know Kiyo is the kind of person who knows what each kind of kiss means… He saves kisses on the lips for special times.

As the relationship goes on, Kiyo is still a bit uncomfortable taking his mask off, and may feel increasingly guilty about it. And Kork would love to braid your hair too, he knows a lot of cultural and traditional hairstyles that he says would look gorgeous on you. So if you ever need to go to a party, Kiyo will hook you up.

I just know Kiyo would be great at taking care of you, he knows all these herbal remedies and honey teas that would make you better much quicker than you thought. He doesn’t mind giving you massages either, he thinks it’s very intimate and romantic and also thinks you’re so pretty. 🥺

A snowstorm baby

For Kim it has been the coldest winter she had exprenced for a long time, she cursed herself for staying in this old flat. It’s single glased windows held no heat and the boiler was always breaking, it happened once again one day as she was getting ready to pick her daughter Mia up from school. Kim called the plummer, but unfortunatly she couldn’t get here till tomorow.

As Kim walked she worried what she would say to her daughter, there was snow due and she didn’t want her daughter to get ill from the cold. As Kim waited for the kids to be let out she saw Alexia, the mother of her daughters best friend. Kim had known her since the girls started school together, they had natrally got on like a house on fire. Kim actualy didn’t mind picking her daughter up from Alexia’s house for playdates or when took forever to get ready as her and Alexia had some great chats about life.

Alexia is the known lesbain but Kim never see’s her part of any of the school’s LGBTQ+ groups or with a partner, which some may find suprising considering she has a daughter and was also heavly pregnant at the moment. As they waited they casualy chatted, Kim decided not to metion about there lack of hot water. Alexia stroked her mountious belly as the children were releaced into the playground, “have a good evening” Alexia said.

As Mia joined Kim, she explained that the hot water was out again this evening. “Oh no” Mia said loudly “but what about my shower? I don’t wanna be all wrapped up all evening!”

Kim was about to reason with her when Mia’s best friend ran over to ask about the homework, of course little girls beimg little girls Mia instead told her best friend about the heating who ran to her mummy. Alexia then came over, “would you like me to take Mia for the evening? She’s due a sleepover at mine anyway, it may be her last chance to sleep at my house for a while”. Kim felt bad but Alexia made a good point, “well if it’s no trouble. You take the girls, I’ll drop by with Mia’s stuff.”

The girls cheered and Kim smiled to herself, she was glad her daughter wouldn’t be suffering tonight afterall. She put together a bag with a fresh uniform for the next day, as well as wash stuff and pj’s. She decided she would sort herself out once she returned home.

When Kim rang the doorbell she was greeted by Alexia who was covered in little flour handprints all over her belly, she just laughed. “Come on in, the girls were making mini pizzas and as you can see they got distracted when the baby kicked.”

Kim couldn’t help but smile, “I should get going, I still need to make dinner for myself and wanna get home before the snow gets thick”. It had been snowing since she had left her house with Mia’s belongings.

“I was thinking about it and you might as well stay over too, save you having to come back here. We all just got an email, school is closed tomorow as the snow is going to be so heavy. I’ll be honest I’d be suprised if your plummer comes tomorrow”.

Kim was tempted, “I’d have to go all the way back for...”

“You can borrow some of my stuff, you look like my size.. pre pregnancy of couse. It will be nice for that stuff to be used again haha” Alexia said winning Kim over.

“Okay, okay you win” Kim said coming inside, she joined the girls who were eatting there pizzas. Mia enjoyed her evening having a sleepover whilst Kim and Alexia had a nice pasta dish and chat, both single parents apprecated the grown up time. “I assume I’m in the guest room like I was for new years?” kim asked before blushing, that new years had been fun. The girls enjoyed counting down and Kim had been taken aback when Alexia gave her a bit more then a peck on the lips but never questioned it.

“Oh unfortunately this little guy has already moved his stuff into that room, but you don’t mind bunking in with me do you? I don’t have any spare blanket and anyway you don’t wanna be on the sofa” Alexia said smiling.

Kim nodded and maybe it was her imagination but at that point it seemed to be Alexia goal to get the girls washed, teeth brushed, story read and tucked in for the night. Soon we were sitting on top of the covers of Alexia’s bed watching tv, Kim was suprised how normal it felt. It was so nice as Kim would occationally watch Alexia’s shirt ride up as she lazy rubbed her globe like belly, at one point Alexia caught her and smiled. “Sorry, this time of night I love how calm he is. Have a feel” she offered Kim, “He will spend the rest of the night wide awake keeping me up with him”.

Kim hesitated and Alexia not wanting to push the matter continued talking, “I can now feel the head right in my pelvis, makes climbing those stairs”. To Alexia’s suprise Kim nodded and found herself rubing Alexia’s low hanging belly gently. At first running her hand along the bottom, then slowly pushing her fingers back up along the top near her breasts. Kim is glad for the darkness as she blushes, “of couse, this is your home”.

As Kim removed her fingers Alexia pulled her closer still on her back, she held Kim close no words spoken between them. Alexia put her hand on her belly, Kim joined in caressing the mountain that was now her belly. It was so full of life, she knew it shouldn’t but it turned her on. “Do you want me to...” Alexia started to offer but Kim shook her head, all this was turning her on enough. Alexia caught on and said “do you want to feel me down there again?”

Kim didn’t need to be asked twice, she slipped her hand between Alexia’s thighs reached down and began massaging the clit slowly but with lots of pressure this time.

"Gaaaaaah hoo hoo" she moaned unsure if it was from the plesure or another tightening, her breasts rise and fall as she tries not to explode from the sesations. But then suddenly the sensation grew into something worse and a contraction gripped her hard. “Gaaahhhhhhhh ohhh stop stop” she said cluching her belly.

“Oh my god are you okay? Did your waters break?” Kim asked looking for fluid.

“No hoo hoo but I’m in labour” she still felt the pain, Kim held her until Alexia relaxed, she remebered that Alexia had looked like she was having a homebirth from the stuff in the bathroom.

"Do you want to call your midwife?" Kim asked her. Alexia nodded and Kim got her phone to her, but the snow had got heavyer. Alexia could tell that her midwife was doubtful she could make it, and said she should go to the hospital once she was more dilated.

Alexia agreed but knew she wasn’t going anywhere, the snow wasn’t safe to drive in. Plus she wanted a homebirth, so that was what was going to happen. She climbed off the bed and made her way to the bathroom, Kim followed "is there anyone you want to call, I’m happy to watch your daughter.”

“Let the girls sleep, hopefully when they awake there will be a new member of the household to enjoy” Alexia said as she started filling up the birthing pool she had already set up in her on suite bathroom.

“You’re not thinking of doing it by yourself?” Kim asked wondering how much she could convince Alexia this wasn’t wise.

“My midwife won’t come because it’s not safe on the roads and it’s gonna take forever, I’m not risking my unborn child by going outside” Alexia said simply. She wondered how much Kim would fight her, but Kim seemed to just take a second and then started helping her set up and fill the pool.

Alexia then felt her next contraction, she tried to hold it in not wanting to wake the children. “What do you need?” Kim asked both about the pool and the pain Alexia was in.

“Gaah just stay by my side” she said reaching out to her, Kim was more then happy to do so. Over the next 2 hours Alexia contractions got worse, but Kim was there holding her and swaying the pain away when needed.

“Who would of been here if I wasn’t?” Kim asked couriously.

“The midwife, I kinda only have my daughter and my son when he arrives” she said softly, Alexia rubbed her belly whilst Kim was silent. She started to sway again trying to get the pressure off her hips, but then her grip on Kim tightened her other hand supporting her belly. “Naaaaggggghhhhh hee heee naaaaaghhhhhh” she groaned as her contractions were getting more intense, she just wanted to start pushing.

Alexia’s laboring belly was so tight, it looked like it was about to burst. Kim was shocked how watching Alexia go though such a moment made her so attractive, but she was so powerful going though this without even gas and air.

Alexia found herself wanting to sqaut, Kim got on her knees to join her. Alexa’s belly hung low, heavy with her unborn child who’s head was pressed right upto the entrance to Alexia’s birth canal. Alexia could feel it, she checked her dilation wishing her water would break soon. “I’m at 8cm, 2 more till I can push”. But the sqauting did help at least.

Kim held her, “your my hero, I was a wussy when my mia was born”.

“hooooo I bet you were” Alexia teesed as a contraction hit and she held onto Kim. She then finally felt the pop she had been waiting for and her water broke, as the fluid hit the floor she felt the urge to push. “Naaagggghhhhhhhh” she moaned, she was not wasting any time.

“Should I help you in the pool?” Kim asked, but Alexia ignored her. As she pushed she felt the head begin to move down into the birth canal easily. She could tell here body was ready to eject her son.

“I can’t move outta this sqaut” Alexia said once the contraction was over. Kim nodded and comforted her, until Alexia felt the urge to push again. “NAAAGGGGHHHH” Alexia moaned loudly, she was glad they had closed the door to both the bedroom and the en suite so hopefully they wouldn’t wake the girls. As she pushed Alexia felt herself progressing, she spread her legs wider to componsate for her son being fully in her birthcanal.

Kim moved her position so she would be able to guide the baby out, on Alexia’s next push her folds parted and a tear drop gap was present. As the baby decended out of her Alexia was sure this baby dispite being early was huge, she felt the buldge between her legs growing. “Gaaaahhhh nnnaaaggghhh” she moaned as the baby crowned, she thought she was going to die from the pain. “ohhh god OHHHH I’m so scared”.

“No you got this Alexia, come on you are so close” Kim encoraged, and with that Alexia kept pushing till the head popped out. Kim thought she was going to rest but Alexia kept pushing till the shoulders popped out and the baby felt into her hands.

But at first the child didn’t cry, Kim saw the cord round his neck, with quick shaking hand she removed the cord from her neck. The colour flooded back into the baby’s face, then he let out a cry. Alexia put the baby though her legs and onto her deflated belly. She looked up at Kim and something in them both knew this wouldn’t be the first birth they would expreience together.

7:45 p.m. Sunday June 20th

Okay well... writing about the entirety of my day is gonna be. Quite the task.

Whatever. I'm dedicated to making this blog A Thing.

Today was Father's Day, so the first thing I did was get up and go downstairs. Gave my dad his presents. He made us pancakes. (I definitely ate too much today... but tommorow is monday so itll be easier to restrict)

We are, watched youtube, then we drove to Wabuman Lake. Idk,, the drive was just that: a typical car ride in which I struggle to find "car friendly" songs, aka songs that everyone will like... aka anything but metal and vocaloid... aka Radiohead, Weezer and Soda Stereo XD

When we got there, we rented a yellow paddleboat, which is this clunky plastic boat that you pedal to move, like some weird water bicycle. It was sunny, and honestly? I've always found being on the water to be calming. After that, we got ice cream (I got Blueberry Cheesecake flavour, my sister R got Cookies N Cream, and my dad got Burgundy Cherry)

I noted that there were at least 2 historical buildings there, along with... I forgot what I was gonna say. Nothing important.

Oh yeah, lots of cool old shiny cars.

We drove back. Got home, exhausted. I cleaned a bit. Idk. Didnt do much until after supper. Since we had fast food for lunch, we only ate a piece of bread and fruit smoothies for supper. We went out, I got a monster XD even tho my parents told me not to...

I got home, took a shower. While I was in the shower my dad got pissed at me for eating some of his chocolate but HE WAS SO SO SO MAD I was thinking to myself he cant be this mad over some choclate but you never know with my parents... they kinda hate me but also dont at the same time it's weird and hard to navigate.

Anwyays when I went downstairs he just. Seemed to have forgotten it ever existed and I mean, if he didnt mention it I wasn't gonna either. I did some homework then "went to sleep" aka went to my room, turned off the light, and pretended to sleep but actually talked to people online

People keep inviting me to hang out with them and I just hope my parents say yes to it all...

My friend Bee on Tuesday, Jay on Wednesday, on Saturday a group picnic...

My talk with Jay tonight: I want to fuck him again RIGHT NOW. GET IN MY FUCKINF BED. RIGHT NOWWWW ugh. But also I noticed that since I explained one of my tone tags to him... As for Star... sometimes she just says shit that concerns me like it's nothing and I never know how to respond because I cant help her! I'm not a fucking mental health professional.

I'm angry at her a bit actually. She says shit like "haha just purged" and I'm like.... okay??? What do u want me to say to that.

Or like,,, I NEED TONE TAGS, OKAY??? I DO. this is mainly why I'm mad. She keeps making jokes without /j and I dont register them as jokes.... or maybe they aren't jokes at all and she just says they're jokes cos I get upset.

Sometimes instead of actually telling me how she feels, she uses this emoticon and... I dont understand what shes tryna tell me. And it keeps stressing me out. Idk. I told her look I dont understand it and she said "I'm tired of this Jude, it's a fucking emoticon" and like...

She tells me all the time no ur not overreacting dont let people tell you that you are and here she is. Telling me I'm overreacting. OUCH. THAT ACTUALLY MADE ME CRY IRL. STOP INVALIDATING MY FEELINGS PLEASE.

It actually hurt me. Like I'm fr crying right now because. Ouch. How hard is it to just put a fucking "/j" after ur words? How hard is it to... use words and explain how u feel instead of giving me a straight faced emoticon. Its frustrating.

Also she keeps saying shit like "omg ur never horny what's wrong w u omg I'm the only one with a sex drive in this relationship how come u never initiate anything I need to fuck someone maybe *sends pic of model* maybe her" which like. A) is ignoring all the times I DID initiate stuff and B) makes me feel inadequate and like. I dont know. I'm tired of feeling like I'm not enough.

Why am I so stupid? How come I never understand when people are joking? How come I have these weird things I do to feel comfortable? Why do I twitch and flap my wrists? Why is my ability to sleep restricted by the amount of weight on top of me (I need lots of weight)?

Why am I the worst person ever? I'm being 100 percent serious. My brain doesnt work! It doesnt. My emotions are too strong. They fuck everything up. I hate myself. Like, when Star said "I'm tired of this Jude, it's a fucking emoticon", I started crying. But when Jay said "I always want you to feel comfortable around me", I immediately felt such love toward him and I told him I love you... but I had to say it was as friends. Cos we have a "friends with benefits" thing going on... not even an actual relationship.

Well now I'm sad that he doesnt like me romantically but whatever. Hes too perfect and sweet anywayssss he deserves better than me.

Update we are now officially "best friends forever" but we also kiss and fuck and cuddle okay. That's a thing. I LOVE HIM. it's okay though. I don't know I said yeah let's be bffs then I physcially cringed. It's okay though. I'll be fine. It functions as a sexy romance thing anwyays.

I love him so much. Hes the best. Fucking hell. Hes the kindest person ever.

Also can Star please stop fucking with me. She said she'd stop using the emoticon and I said "thanks" and then she used a weird emoji to react to my thanks because she wanted to "acknowledge that she read my message without liking it".... oh so you dont like it??? Top 10 Personal Favorite Hit Songs from 2016

I think everyone will agree that 2016 had “Impending Doom” written all over it, and as a result a lot of pop music became very depressed very quickly, and as such, I’m less enthusiastic about this list than some of the previous ones.

Disclaimers:

Keep in mind I’m using both the year-end top 100 lists from the US and from France while making these top 10 things. There’s songs in English that charted in my country way higher than they did in their home countries, or even earlier or later, so that might get surprising at times.

Of course there will be stuff in French. We suck. I know. It’s my list. Deal with it.

My musical tastes have always been terrible and I’m not a critic, just a listener and an idiot.

I have sound to color synesthesia which justifies nothing but might explain why I have trouble describing some songs in other terms than visual ones.

For a year that was so cataclysmic worldwide, 2016 was pretty mundane for me, so let’s just skip to the albums that came out that year and which I consider relevant to my tastes. Obviously (and unfortunately) there was David Bowie with Black Star. We should have known we had jumped right into the Worst Timeline when the year started with the death of Bowie. Nine Inch Nails also released Not The Actual Events, which was pretty good, and as I said previously I consider Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams to be more of a 2016 than a 2015 album. And then there was the biggest surprise of all, the return of Enigma after eight years of silence, with the very good Fall Of A Rebel Angel (even if A Posteriori is still my favorite “modern” Enigma album). EDIT: I forgot Ghostlights by Avantasia. Took me YEARS to listen to it & realise how good it was.

But no. Surprisingly enough, my favorite album of the year wasn’t any of those. It was... oh god, that title. Here we go. It was I Like It When You Sleep for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It by The 1975 - which I like to call “The 1975′s second album” instead, because what the hell, guys. Anyway. It had been a while since I had found a new band I’d consider to be one of my favorite bands. I really liked Chocolate from their previous album but that was it. But this one? What a breath of fresh air. A Change of Heart, She’s American, Please Be Naked, The Ballad Of Me And My Brain, Somebody Else, The Sound, This Must Be My Dream? That’s only the songs I listened to on a loop and that’s already nearly half of the album. Great music, love the vocals, but I especially love the writing, full of strange and awkward details and lines that make everything feel so alive. The first time I listened to some of these songs, some lines actually got a chuckle out of me, like the American girl wanting the narrator to fix his teeth, or him hopping on a bus to ask the passengers if someone found his brain, or his girlfriend complaining about his shoes and his songs then immediately adding “I thought that you were straight, now I’m wondering”.

As someone who’s constantly puzzled by human relationships and tends to act super awkwardly, all of this is extremely relatable. So yeah. Album of the year, love this band - impatiently waiting for that fourth album!

As far as unelligible songs go, as you can guess I’m furious The Sound (The 1975) wasn’t a hit because I was and I’m still listening to it on a loop. And that’s about it. Wait there’s also Kids by One Republic. It was super good. Apart from that, there’s also one (1) elligible song that I’m gonna put on the 2017 list instead because I really struggled to find enough songs I liked for that list, and that particular one is elligible for 2016 thanks to the French year-end list and 2017 thanks to the US year-end list, so eh.

Time for some honorable mentions.

This Girl (Kungs vs Cookin’ on Three Burners) - Number one of the year here. Every time I heard it (and I heard it a lot) I enjoyed it until that wretched drop.

Fast Car (Jonas Blue ft Dakota) - Not a good cover, but I love the original so much I’d be lying if I said I hated this completely.

Sucker for Pain (Lil Wayne & Imagine Dragons) - No, that slow, heavy, tortured beat that all recent Imagine Dragons songs have doesn’t work on topics like being a natural at something, being a believer, or describing thunder. It does work, however, with a chorus saying “I'm just a sucker for pain”.

Cheap Thrills (Sia ft Sean Paul) - Sean Paul, and a song about having fun without any money. Everything I want from an average hit song on the radio.

In the Night (The Weeknd) - This would be much higher if I didn’t find The Weeknd’s upper register slightly painful to listen to.

J’ai Cherché (Amir) - Hey look, the guy France sent to Eurovision that year. He’s still around, too. He’s pretty good, and that song is super cute.

Ride (21 Pilots) - Not the last time they will appear on this list.

Je Suis Chez Moi (Black M) - Pretty good song about racism, and the singer explicitly calls out a far right political figure who said some pretty terrible shit about him, and it’s a good answer.

Perfect (One Direction) - This is just Style by Taylor Swift all over again except slightly less good. But as I said before, copying good songs isn’t always a bad thing.

Human (Rag’n’bone Man) - Would definitely be on the list if listening to it didn’t feel like working.

Into You (Ariana Grande) - The last cut. The ending is wonderful and explosive, it’s just a shame that the entire song doesn’t sound like that.

And now... the list.

10 - Stressed Out (21 Pilots)

US: #5 / FR: #9

Defining song of the entire year, whether you liked it or not.

Fortunately, as you can see, I liked it a lot, even if I don’t have anything interesting to say about it.

9 - Don’t Be So Shy (Imany, Filatov & Karas remix)

US: Not on the list / FR: #2

I often joked that the melody sounded weirdly similar to Goldman’s “Envole-moi” by singing the lyrics of the verses over the Don’t Be So Shy verses, and it fits nearly perfectly. But apart from that, great song, great remix, very overplayed but never to the point of being annoying.

8 - I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Mike Posner)

US: #15 / FR: #29

There’s nothing I could say about this song that Todd hasn’t said before in what I consider to be one of his best reviews, if not the best, so here it is.

7 - Heathens (21 Pilots)

US: #21 / FR: #23

Super ominous and tense. It’s rare when a mostly grey song looks interesting, and this one definitely does. I also like the ending a lot. Don’t hang out with too many toxic people, guys, they will influence you over time.

I had no idea this was made for the Suicide Squad movie until very recently and frankly I wish it hadn’t because it’s way better on its own, especially the hand grenade line which works a lot better as a metaphor for self-destructive tendencies.

6 - Starboy (The Weeknd)

US: #58 / FR: #16

As I said before it took me ages to like The Weeknd. His voice is great but I found most of his songs fairly boring or disliked their lyrics. And then he teamed up with Daft Punk and to be honest, I didn’t even care if the lyrics of this one included weird lines about drugs on furniture, the beat was completely worth it and the singing was great. Not enough to put it on my mp3 playlist, but a delight every time it was on the radio.

5 - Faded (Alan Walker)

US: Not on the list / FR: #11

I adore this post-apocalyptic, contemplative music video. The music itself has this weariness and this quiet despair that felt super relevant, and even the drop is a bit slow instead of energetic. I usually don’t like this kind of song but this one found the perfect balance. If we really need to have more sad, exhausted hit songs, more like this, please.

4 - Closer (The Chainsmokers)

US: #10 / FR: Not on the list

I usually don’t like love songs if they are just that, random love songs without a good melody or good colors or good stories. If the melody isn’t particularly great and the colors boring, it needs to paint an interesting picture, and the more details the better, even if they are super awkward, like, as I said previously, in some of The 1975′s best songs mentioning bad shoes, or people’s jobs, or how a car smells like.

So yeah, what I’m trying to say is that my favorite thing about this song is the over-abundance of weird and kind of off-putting details that most people consider to be its main flaw. To each their own, I guess.

3 - Never Forget You (Zara Larsson & MNEK)

US: #46 / FR: Not on the list

See, this is one of the reasons why I decided to make these lists: to find great stuff I missed over the years. I discovered this song while making the 1.0 version of the lists on a google sheet in early December, and now this has a spot on my mp3 player. And it’s so weird because this song shouldn’t work. The drop is ridiculously lifeless compared to the soaring quality of the chorus and it actively works against the rest of the song. It takes a while to get used to it and I’m still not entirely sure it does work, at all.

But what can I say, framing is, once again, everything, and songs about imaginary friends are super rare, and that music video made me cry and catapulted this song from “that’s pretty good” right into the “holy shit that’s fantastic” category. And it made me rewatch Where The Wild Things Are, so yeah.

2 - Perfect Strangers (Jonas Blue)

US: Not on the list / FR: #70

This, on the other hand, stayed on my mp3 player for about two years, and the music fits the lyrics perfectly. It’s not a groundbreaking song, it’s not even that original, but in such an average year for pop music, “happy energetic song with beautiful colors and nice lyrics” meant the world to me. It’s kind of telling that it was enough to put it as high as #2, though.

1 - Hymn For the Weekend (Coldplay ft Beyoncé)

US: #73 / FR: Not on the list

And with this, Coldplay has officially topped as many of my lists as Linkin Park. If, back when The Scientist dropped, you had told me how much I would love this band in the future, I would have laughed pretty hard, but here we are.

But yeah, it’s one of my favorite songs on the album and it’s a super weird combo of heavy and aerial sounds, soft and super colorful notes, and I love the lyrics that completely mirror that feeling, feeling “drunk and high", “poured on a symphony when I’m low, low, low”. A great party song that’s also strangely melancholic. Exactly what I needed.

It’s sincerely hypnotic and visually so complex and fragile I’m afraid I won’t be able to draw it if I ever attempt to turn it into a synesthesia drawing. Just like A Sky Full of Stars, I was driving the first time I heard that remix on the radio, and I wasn’t expecting that drop at all, and I was gawking.
