I've been dedicated in reading and catching up and heads up, i may spam you with imagine plots soo sorry not sorry hehe😅😭

diving head first: I'd love to know abt the proposal + wedding details like whether lando proposed or violet proposed or maybe both🤷‍♀️😉 (like one of the tiktoks where the couple proposed at the same time), whoever proposes, what was their THE MOMENT when they knew 'this is it' (context: like jake and amy from b99 if you have watched), etc and etc.

i may have ranted in more detail but just wanted to share my pov of the idea. I'm sooo excited to see how this takes place! (ps: no pressure on writing asap!! take your sweet time pleasee! its always worth the wait to read😭😭😭)

Sorry it took me too long! Right now I'm very very very focused on reading that I really forgot that I had to write this HAHAHAHA

But I hope you like this!

He always knew he wanted to marry her. At first it was a joke he used to tell himself or his friends, that he was going to marry Violet no matter what, that he would put his last name next to hers. But it was only that, a joke and he barely though about it as something more.

But the day he had her, the day she said she loved him, he immediately knew he had to make that come true, that he was going to love her until his last breath. Days with her were like a new adventure he was dying to explore.

Lando started the search of a ring for her during the honeymoon phase of their relationship. He was so naive, so on love. He found himself countless times looking at rings everytime he walked in front of the jewelries Monaco, making screenshots on his phone of the ones he liked, picturing Violet with that ring on her finger.

But then the crash happened. He had to focus on her, on her recovery and making sure she was comfortable. And during that time with her, he came to the realization that he has to love the present and enjoy every second with her, enjoy life with her. But it made him realize, too, that he wanted to be next to her forever, now for real.

A year turned in two, two in three, and their love never stopped growing. They filled their house with souvenir of every places they visited, and their dogs were like their kids, always going with them to Lando's races.

It was a day he went out around Monaco with Max when he stopped right in front of the jewelry he always looked at. Max looked at him and smirked, nudging him and walking inside of the store. That day, he held Violet close to his chest, and while she was sleeping peacefully, he was staring at the ring inside elf the box, smiling widely.

He planned it, he kept the ring for months, and even if sometimes he decided to not wait and propose right in tbe moment, he waited for the day.

They went back to that city of snow, the city their favorite writer got inspired to write their favorite books. He thought it was perfect, Max and Pietra were with them, as well as their dogs.

"You know she will suspect if she find us recording, right?" Pietra sighed, looking at him.

"She won't" Lando nodded. "I have it planned, don't worry guys"

Lando had it pictured in his mind, he has been thinking and dreaming about this day since he bought the ring. When he's going to kneel, what words he's going to speak.

But it wasn't as easy as he thought.

His first attempt ended up with a fail. He wanted to go for a walk with the dogs and making sure that Max and Pietra were some meters away, with their phones in their hands making sure to record everything. But it ended with them screaming in a panic attack because one of their dogs decided to go explore to the wood. Thankfully they found the dog, covered in snow and the day ended with them cuddling the black dog in front of a fire and making sure he didn't freeze.

His second attempt was planned while they slept. It had to be something simple, no surprises. He has to make sure that their dogs are near, that the ring is in the box.

But at morning, when everything he wanted to do was cuddle her, he found Violet already in the living room making lunch for the day that was planned on the ski resort. So maybe that was the perfect moment to ask her.

He made sure he had the box with the ring in the inside pocket of his snow coat, sometimes having the need of patting his chest to make sure that the box was still there.

"Babe, you okay?" Violet asked worried, watching how he was always rubbing his chest. "Did something happen?"

"Oh? No, no! Why do you think that?" he frowned confused.

"Well..." she smiled looking him. "You can't stop touching your chest. Are you nervous because we're going to the red zone?"

"What?! Me?! My second name is danger" he scoffed, talking with a high pitched voice.

"Sure" she laughed, kissing his cheek.

Lando swallowed thickly and turned his head slightly to look at Max and Pietra, somehow panicking and moving his hand side to side under his chin.

"Abort plan, abort plan" he mouthed, making his friends chuckle.

He never thought that proposing to hercould be that hard without making her suspect.

He normally has a lot of patience, he had to get high levels of patience to love with two puppies and train them. But this? This is ending his patience levels.

The four of them spent the day skiing while their dogs were at a dog daycare place. And once they finished and got back with their dogs, Lando was too quiet on the way back to the house. And when they were finally there, he went immediately outside, grabbing his phone and texting Max.

Lando: Okay, this is the last chance. I'll stay out for a while, if she goes outside to talk with me, follow her.

Max: I never imagined proposing would be this hard...

Lando: Try it, then we'll talk 😩

Lando stayed out of the house, looking at the ring inside of the box. It doesn't have a big stone, in all his hers dating her he discovered that she doesn't like big jewelry. And the ring is the perfect definition of what she would wear everyday.

Rhysand and Feyre, their dogs, walked out of the house and stayed with him, cuddling him and trying to keep him warm, or trying to give him a reason to go back to the house.

"Hey, what are you doing outside? It's getting cold" Violet smiled, leaning on the door frame.

"Oh-" he wasn't ready. "C-can we talk?"

"There's something wrong?" she asked worried, walking towards him. "Lando, are you okay?"

"Well, I'm nervous" he sighed.

Violet started to panic. Nervous? Why would he be nervous? Is he going to break up with her?

"W-what?" she mumbled, swallowing thickly.

"I just wanted to do it before, but everytime I tried to talk with you, something happened" he said.

"Oh..."

She could feel her vision getting blurry, not noticing the confusion in Lando's face.

"Baby, why are you crying?" Lando asked, holding her hands.

"You are going to break up with me, it's that?"

"What? No!" he laughed, pulling her close to him. "No! I'm actually going to do another thing"

She didn't feel him kneeling in front of her, grabbing the box inside of his coat. But when she finally understood what was happening, he didn't even need to say a word before she threw herself into his arms.

"You gave me a heart attack!" she exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, baby" Lando chuckled, holding her.

"But... Yes" she whispered. "I will marry you, idiot"

Weekend Update 02/25/2024

We're also buzzing about how he looks like he's on the cover of a romance novel. Maybe on a ranch, maybe in the 1800's. It's a pretty versatile look. He likes his deep V's....

Anything new besides, well clearly pirate adventures?

Pirates have scurvy and Pedro is well nourished so none of that. Other ideas for his characters. Ezra and Pero might have scurvy though. I did manage to write some this week. It's been busy. 👀 Ugh...real life stuff. Nothing major. Just needs to be done.

Part three of the Javi G summer romance

Maybe...Roc & Doc part three I don't like sitting on finished parts but then I whine about having no motivation for the next part. 👀 I make no sense.

March is toward the end of the week so my March Spring Prompts will start! I scheduled the first six days I think. I got anxious about getting behind (which isn't the point of doing them but anxiety doesn't care) and did some in advance. I like how they're coming along and that they're short. Unlike this update. 🤣 They won't have summaries, but will have warnings, tags and notes.

And because I hear series and I think "I should start another one!" I decided to write an Ezra series. How did I happen upon our favorites prospector/scoundrel/reluctant father figure? I've been reading works by @morallyinept @maggiemayhemnj and @magpiepills

Ezra intimidated me because of his language, but actually, I think I'd get along with him because he puts on a persona with a great deal of performance. It's the audience's job to figure out if you're serious or not. Or at least that's how I approached him. 🤨 This could go badly. I stuck him on the bayou with an air boat and I want him to cook gumbo. *full delusional achievement unlocked*

The influx of new watchers from the netflix dropout is great, but once again...

new Black Sails watchers who complain that it isn't gay enough...

Why is it that 'gay' to you is only two men kissing? why do you need soft uwu romance with two men you can sexualize for it to 'count' as gay. why don't women count. why doesn't the scar of lost love count. why don't bisexuals count?

To hammer it in - Why don't the lesbians count? and don't 'cishetero male gaze' me. I'm a lesbian and i enjoy watching Anne and Max fuck. see the point above - lets be honest here 'queer enough' is when you can fetishize gay men. Your fetish is gay men.

The lesbians and violence are too 'cishetero male gaze'. I think this one pisses me off the most. Most Black Sails fans are queer. Most of the fandom are queer. Interestingly enough its the 'allies' I hear this from the most. Not every queer piece of media is going to be soft boys gently falling in angsty love. some times it's violence, sometimes it's lesbians, sometimes is queerness being a person and not a titillating makeout scene between two abercrombie models.

Maybe admit that you're not actually an A+ ally, you have a fetish for queer men. Which like...we all have fetishes, but you don't get to deem a queer piece of media 'not queer enough' just because you couldn't get your fix from it. Black Sails is queer from episode 1. fucking grow up

Like to be clear, I also disagree with the current marketing of the Netflix Black Sails drop as 'forget about OFMD this is the greatest queer pirate show'. For some people, OFMD is their purest representation. THAT'S FINE. for an angry gender queer lesbian like me, it's Black Sails. I mean....It is my favorite show, ad you don't have the right to invalidate my experience by saying it's 'not queer enough'.

I go back to what that one blogger said when OFMD first came out. Recommending Black Sails to OFMD fans is like recommending Hannibal to B99 fans because they're both cop shows. Not every OFMD fan is going to want to engage with the violence and overt sexuality of Black Sails, AND THAT'S FINE. It's got similar themes but it's a different genre entirely, and you don't have to like it. But that doesn't make it any less queer, how dare you even insinuate that.

eternally pissed off that I can't watch infinity train on any streaming services because while the last two seasons are available to buy you can only buy like two episodes in the first season and maybe three in the second, which like. why

also I cannot find DVD sets that include all four seasons, just the first two (which I suppose solves the problem, but if I'm paying for a physical copy of a media I want all of that media)

it's the same for over the garden wall, while the show is available on hulu there were rumors that the show would be removed about a year ago so I decided to find a box set for it, and it doesn't fucking exist. you can either find the show on a streaming service or pirate it, I could not find a single box set

it is so eternally frustrating to be unable to find shows you want to watch without downloading new streaming services every three months or buying physical copies (that sometimes don't exist, especially for TV shows and ESPECIALLY for kids' TV shows). right now I can only watch the first 4 seasons of b99 on netflix because hulu removed it, and I could buy the box set but I don't have a dvd player (yet, I'm saving)

just. the inconsistency of streaming services is horrendous

Good morning!

Tagged by @ghostoffuturespast on my main blog and both @seeker-of-truth and @ouroboros-hideout on my sideblog-- for the sake of keeping everything jointed I'll post this on my main lol.

Buckle in folks this one's a doozy.

Connor Kenway/Ratonhnhaké:ton (Assassin's Creed III)

Even as the years go by, Connor was the character I made a Tumblr account for and pretty much the only reason I bother still paying attention to Assassin's Creed as a franchise anymore. I was there, man. I was there when everyone in the fandom and their mothers hated this guy, but I will still defend him even with my goddamn life. Characters that go through intense tragedy after intense tragedy and still come out the other side gentle and optimistic are my lifeblood.

2. Johnny Silverhand (Cyberpunk 2077)

(People who follow me for my sideblog make a Surprised Pikachu Face at this placement) My gross rat bastard man I love you I hate you I love you. An intensely tortured character with arguably more negative personality traits than positive ones, but who he is and even why he is is so engaging and tragic that you almost forget he's supposed to be getting on your nerves for most of the game's runtime. Damn you Keanu Reeves and your effortless dorky charisma.

3. Arthur Morgan (Red Dead Redemption 2)

Arthur baby you deserved the world. An insanely complex character with gray morals and a jaded worldview who could never do right no matter how hard he tried until the one moment where it mattered most. I loved John in RDR1 and didn't really expect to get so attached to Arthur, but R* truly did grab me by the shoulders and said "Bet, bitch". To this day, the fact that I never finished that 200k+ word OC fic disguised as an Arthur character study still haunts me.

4. Korra (Avatar: The Legend of Korra)

As someone who'd watched the original Last Airbender series as it aired when I was a kid, I was super excited for a female Avatar when the series was announced back in...god, was I in high school? The point being-- when the show started really hitting it's stride with Korra's character in season 3 I was beyond hooked, and I loved season 4 probably a lot more than I think I should've, but MAN, was it a fun ride. Korra is a character and a show that both got severely panned and honestly I think once you get out of the mindset that you aren't watching Aang 2.0 you'll have a much funner time.

5. Steve Harrington (Stranger Things)

Maybe not as much in later seasons when they really leaned off his popularity + Joe Keery's charisma, but lemme tell y'all season 2 Steve had me in a bonafide stranglehold for two years. "Character stepping up to a leadership role and then getting forcibly adopted by the people they're leading" is one of my favorite tropes and the reason that it worked so well in S2 is partly because the concern of Steve still kinda/sorta had the potential to swing back towards being the bully archetype he showed shades of in S1, so you got to see his relationship with the kids start off as kinda selfish but grow into a genuine protectiveness. GOD this was a top tier man y'all! We had it so good!

6. Rosa Diaz (Brooklyn 99)

Maybe this is coming off the fact that my roommate and I literally just finished binge watching B99 for like the fifth time? But I forgot how much I actually really liked Rosa. One of the best sitcom deadpan snarkers of recent years and I personally liked that they affirmed that she didn't need to see herself settling down to be happy. I'm glad this role basically launched Stephanie Beatriz's career because she truly is the unsung hero of this show's comedy and heart and never really gets enough credit for it imho.

7. Melissa Schemmenti (Abbott Elementary)

Every single time I watch Abbott Elementary. Every. Single. Time. Someone looks at me when Schemmenti appears on screen and goes "Wow, she acts a lot like you do!". And I have to sigh and nod and pretend I don't see it lol. Though unfortunately our differing football opinions means we would probably end up in a fistfight.

8. Takashi "Shiro" Shirogane (Voltron: Legendary Defender)

I will never forgive the VLD showrunners for dropping a nuke on Shiro's character development. Seasons 1-2 Shiro was some of most fun I've ever had following a protagionist's journey to conquer his inner struggles and solely for that, I still have a massive soft spot for him. Dreamworks think about how you massacred my boy and feel bad for it.

9. Benjamin "Benji" Ovich (Beartown Series)

This gif is from the HBO Nordic series (haven't watched it, desperately still want to, don't know if I even can at this point lol), but I'm specifically talking about Benji from the Beartown book trilogy. He evolves into the series deuteragonist alongside Maya and god, he is just such a tragic character who deserves all the world and more. Go read Beartown and scream at me for it.

10. Joey Tribbiani (Friends)

"Characters I See a Lot of Myself In 2: Electric Boogaloo". Joey is the best friend in the entire cast there I said it. Honestly my ideal relationship is a funny overly-assured man who loves the New York Rangers, loves his friends intensely, and has dumb himbo energy. The loud Italian family is just an added bonus.

8. Do you have any rituals or habits that help you get into the zone? I can honestly say no. Although.. is going to bed one? Because I swear every time, as soon as my head hits the pillow and I wanna sleep, my brain is swamped with ideas and all I wanna do is write write write. And I usually do. Sometimes I even wake up in the middle of the bloody night and immediately reach for my phone because I just have to write something down 🤦🏼‍♀️

17. What's the most memorable comment or review you've received on one of your fics? Already answered here :) you must've seen parts of my answer coming lol

18. Are there any fics or authors that have been particularly influential or inspiring to you? Already answered here :)

27. What two (or more) fandoms would you like to see a crossover for? Would you ever write it? Oh god. The only show (currently airing) I'm actively watching right now is The Rookie.. so um. None? If I had to choose one, maybe I'd pick NCIS: LA to crossover with TR simply based on the fact that it was also set in LA? Super original I know, but having these characters interact with each other seems the easiest to explain since they're in the same city (unlike let's say, B99 or hell, Castle for the fun of it).

28. What's the most ambitious or challenging fic you've ever written? Does the one I'm still planning count? No? Damnit. Yes? Please? Idk man, um.. most ambitious? Little bit of Love, because as of right now, my outline sits at 90ish chapters, give or take a few. Most challenging? Yeah okay, it actually is that fic I keep mentioning that might never actually see the light of day because it's been stuck in the planning stages of the writing process since May and I can't figure shit out.

Okay I saw your fic behind the scenes ask game and I MUST know behind the scenes info for "So A Crazy Thing Happened At The Terra Bella Lodge"

Oh my GOSH I'm so excited to tell you all of it!!!!

First, obligatory link to said fic in case someone would like to read it! (But be warned-- I spoil everything below)

A couple of fun facts:

I can't remember for the life of me what exactly spurred this idea, but it's heavily influenced by Leverage and some of the more bottle-like episodes they've done. Very heist-y origins! Although I wish I was better at writing heists, because a Brooklyn 99/The Rookie heist would be the crossover fic of the century.

I spent roughly 15 entire hours watching episodes of Brooklyn 99 and clips of Jake and Amy so I could get their voices in my head, since I'd been on a Rookie spree and all I was hearing was Tim and Lucy, and while they're similar in some ways I needed to remember how to write Peraltiago! Pretty sure I've watched every single b99 clip that exists on Youtube

The inspiration for the Terra Bella Mountain Lodge is actually a real place!! It's a wedding venue in Estes Park, CO called the Della Terra Mountain Chateau. I've sadly never been there but it looked GORGEOUS, and if I ever get married, it'll be on my top 5 venue options for sure

I tossed around the idea of whether or not to have Jake and Amy's kids there with them, since it's kind of a romantic spot, but I opted for my own enjoyment of getting to write the kids instead of being realistic and keeping them in New York with Jake's mom or something

I listened to basically nothing except this chenford playlist I made, the whole time. music on repeat is very effective for my writing brain :)))

I had a couple deleted scenes where Jake and Amy solve the whole case from the minivan, then Tim goes and busts Lucy out by fistfighting 3 guards at once in a superhuman throwdown brawl, but I went back and added those scenes where Lucy saves herself like the queen she is since she was feeling a little too Damsel-in-Distress and not enough Badass Officer (Detective) Chen, and I'm SO glad I did. It's a better story for the grandkids ;)

Also, in previous drafts Raymond Reeves WAS the villain. I was planning him as the thief who wanted to steal some diamonds or something, but it just wasn't gelling with my brain. I think I rewrote all the scenes with him and Marcia about 27 times before I was happy with it.

SPEAKING OF THAT DUDE!!! This is one of my favorite BTS tidbits :))) Raymond Reeves' backstory is that he has about 10 aliases that he uses and for ALL of them, the initials are S.K. -- Sanford Kain, Silas Kearney . . . Because S.K. stands for Serial Killer. He was so guilty about what he did to his brother-in-law, that he purposefully branded himself forever, subconsciously hoping someone would put the pieces together and he'd finally be arrested and punished for his crime.

Vesa Wescott was always going to be in on the crime from the beginning, I just didn't decide exactly how until Ronan Reeves came into the picture :)

This is very easily the first fic I've fully drafted out from beginning to end, and it STILL changed along the way!

I threw around the idea of Lucy going into preterm labor during the snowstorm, but figured that was kind of cliche and scary and unnecessary, and I'd rather have her working the case with Jake and Amy than anything else.

Oh, and Tim absolutely breaks his no-Disneyland rule for the Peraltiago fam :))) But given that I've never been to Disneyland and have no idea what it's like, I don't feel qualified to write that fic . . . Maybe someday!!

🧪 Do you research for your fics?

i think all of my fics have some sort of "research" - though I don't really feel like calling it that, because it's just googling keywords and accumulating facts in an outline. i'd say it's more of a 'conducting a thorough survey of the surface-level knowledge in the domain'??? I dunno, does it make sense?

but some of my absolute favourite rabbit holes that have sprung up from fics are as follows:

the kemetic tradition of breaking earthen pots during the new year's - i talk some more in this fic about it

making up insane historical facts in this fic and getting too much into magical cauldrons in irish mythology and just magical cauldrons, pots in general across all mythos and cultures

learning how to write gore but ONLY for one work

also the stuff i put up as banners

honestly i can only remember some because I don't keep track of what I look into. recently for this fic, i watched a couple of videos on art forgery and how they used raman spectroscopy to identify that but it never really made it into the fic. maybe someday i'd finish this thought but ehhhhhhh still super fun to go down these rabbit holes lmao. i learned so much about southeastern europe agriculture once upon a time.

I just wish i remember enough of it to put it out there in the footnotes of my fics more regularly. think i'll do that in the future.

Would be easier to list my least favourite fics lmao I dunno, i guess i can never really have a 'one true favourite' because the specific kind of stuff i put in each of them are still super special to me. maybe i was going through the absolute thick of it - the worst possible mental health rut to ever exist. maybe i found something interesting and built a fic around it.

i can never truly hate the stuff i wrote, but hate the way i wrote it. i feel like you just tend to get more articulate as the times go by.

💭 What inspires you and your writing?

holy shit this list, THIS CAN go on for a million million miles honestly because i get inspired by a bunch of different things - probably why my long fics have literally everything stuffed into them like they're what captain holt from b99 might call - "a flavourless beige smoothie containing all the nutrients required by the human animal"

to me, fics reproduce more inspiration to write fics. a lot of times the throwaway headcanons in my head actually makes sense if you were to present them right. there was this fic i wrote - i forget the name, and yes, i deleted it because it just felt weird - where if you were to read it forwards, it appears as if trystan is performing a magic trick for nora and if you read it backwards, it's nora performing a trick for trystan.

it was Not per canon lol but I was super into sleight of hand and I wanted to write something so utterly absurd and defeats all rules of grammar ever. then a while passed, i deleted it because i wasn't happy with it. even though the mechanic was cool, the story wasn't and I hated it but the thought of trystan being this someone who has this sleight of hand talent made me explore it in laplace's angel where he uses it to get out of situations he doesn't want to be in.

so yeah, half the times it's just these throwaway headcanons that impact my writing the most.

in terms of what inspires me, i'd say whatever i'm reading & watching at that time. I was reading the first volume of ponniyin selvan not too long ago which is why the tone in this blades fic sounds super similar to kalki's observations - the emphasis on nature, religious symbolism, etc. i just tend to look at it the way my fav authors look at it, but i try my best to have some consistent writing style even though if you remove all that, my writing on its own is never structurally sound.

i'm sorry i rambled a bit there, i'm always super excited to share stuff that inspires my writing. thank you so much for the ask, caro!

Larry prefers clothes that cover him nearly completely, with the exception of pants overlapping his feet. He doesn’t mind it when his sleeves go over hands, though, as long as he isn’t working with his hands that is. After wearing suits so much for so many years, he started leaning more towards loose fitting clothes as a much needed break from the stuffy suits. He likes more grays and blacks in this clothes than color, but when he does include color its almost always some shade of blue. He only owns like three different pairs of shoes, one of which are his only tennis shoes that he's owned for several years now with barely any visible wear and tear. He always accessorizes with a watch and a medical alert bracelet for his food allergy. More under the cut :)

Work

Its his work clothes. He’s got 7 identical suits, button downs, and socks for each day of the week— despite no longer working a 7 day schedule anymore. It's comfortable and breathable enough on long work days.

Casual 1

He likes flannels. They're warm on chilly days and he thinks he looks nice in them. As for jeans, they're just jeans. He still slicks his hair back in the same way he does for work simply out of habit.

Casual 2

He doesn't usually wear graphic shirts or anything similar, but the Komala sweater seems to be an exception. Poppy gave it to him, but she didn't know what size he wore. So, because he is so much bigger than her, she picked out the biggest size they had on the rack. Larry appreciated the gesture. He did put it in the wash to shrink it just enough to wear because he knew Poppy would want to see him wear it. He likes wearing sweats the most because they're comfortable and easy to pull on when he doesn't feel like dressing up.

Lounge

Just a simple t-shirt and shorts. Finally he let's his hair down. Allows it to get messy, but doesn't skip coming through it in the morning after waking up. He only ever wears shorts at home because he's a little embarrassed over showing his legs.

Sleep

The dad shirt was a father's day gift by Giacomo. The material is too thin for his liking to wear out, so he uses it as a sleep shirt. His pajama pants ranges from sweatpants to actual pajama pants, it just depends how he's feeling. He really doesn't get why Hassel and Rika call him weird for sleeping in his socks, as well as having "designated sleeping socks". Do they just like having freezing feet during the night? They're the weird ones, if you ask Larry.

Formal

Styling his hair differently, picking out a new tie, breaking out the vest and his other dress shoes— and he cleans up nice. He doesn't really put much effort into it, though. Just throws on one of his dress pants for work. Grabs one of his button downs for work. Only owns one belt so he tosses that into the mix, too.

Business casual

For company parties or small, kind of serious, get togethers with coworkers. It's just his work pants and shoes plus a more colorful button down. And excluding his tie. Nothing special about it.

Haha, it's my clothes :]

My favorite b99 slut shirt that I usually sleep in. My camo cargo pants. My cheap walmart boots with trans pride laces with which I love dearly. My buckle down galaxy belt. Pretend he's wearing Reptar socks, too. If I wanted to, I would have drawn him in my tomboy x sports bra and princess peach sweat pants, my typical sleep and lounge wear when my baggy clothes are causing some sensory problems so I'm dysphoric. In reality the slut shirt is more like a dress on me, but I suppose it maybe more well fitting on Larry because he's. He's taller than me dkshsksj

I mean.... y'all should know this by now. I'm a Nessian girlie. I wrote my first fic in a fandom that's not Shadowhunters just because I needed more of them and my re-reading of Silver Flames wasn't enough.

To be honest, I definitely think Cass and Az, and maybe even Rhys, fooled around between them in their youth (see also: Constellations, chapter five), but in the present day, c'mon, Nessian is the only ship in my book.

And I do mean the only ship: those two have rocked my world in such a way that I can't help but see them everywhere—which takes us back to the title of this post: Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago from Brooklyn 99 are Cassian and Nesta.

First of all, a while ago, the B99 official YouTube account posted a video titled Jake & Amy but they get more and more kinky, and... do I really have to say it?

You just watch it and tell me they're not Cassian and Nesta. Change my mind.

Secondly, the chemistry between Peraltiago? The natural way they got together? The way they joke with each other but aren't afraid to call the other out on their bullshit? Their respect for the other's ethics and professionalism and character in general? The way they literally work together and train together and do everything together? The way they both grew up throughout the series and learned to love and respect each other even (and maybe especially) when they have different opinions? The way they learned how to communicate and work out the problems in their relationship?

Your post about Amy and Jonah (as well as Superstore) over Amy and Jake (as well as B99), yeah I'm the same. It's not that Amy and Jake are bad at all as a couple, it's just that Amy and Jonah just are a way more interesting couple to watch. Like, especially Season 3. Season 3 was a messy slow burn to build up to answer the question of "Will they or won't they?" in the finale and it was perfect.

Oh, I love Jake and Amy, and I love that they subverted a few things with that ship

but I find Jonah and Amy just a lot more realistic in terms of their situations, Amy being married, having a kid, having another unplanned pregnancy, only being able to act on her feelings in now-or-never situations because of her resistance to change, the way they relate or don't relate, like that's a love story I can actually see playing out in real life, these are characters that I know, that I've met working in retail, they're just more like people to me so I find their love story more endearing because of that. Whereas Jake and Amy are like #goals, they're a very cute TV ship that I quite enjoyed -- well when I did enjoy B99, pre-NBC

hello hello~ i saw your post about rw&b from another blog and decided to give your blog a look through. i just wanted to say really thank you for bringing these representation issues to the conversation, even if it's tiring and hard :')

i thought about it and i really could only name a few characters on tv that i've seen recently who were jewish (jake/gina from b99 and dr. taub from house md). as a jew, even nonreligious like many of us are, the culture is still such an important part of the community, and yet none of us really get to see this representation on screen - especially minorities within the jewish minority (i have a friend who's half chinese half jewish for ex).

i didn't grow up with religion (we only celebrated passover sometimes and we usually forgot to light the hanukkah candles after day 3), but we ate latkes and matzah and hamantashen and my mom and grandparents (also nonreligious jews) regularly used yiddish words like schlep and schmutz which I didn't know wasn't normal until i had college friends ask me what they meant.

anyway this ask doesn't really have a point but i'm really glad to see that this kind of issue is being talked about at some level, especially as you've seen, it keeps getting denied and pushed down (like saying having a jewish producer on a movie means we shouldn't have jewish actors??? wtf). even though i haven't experienced much discrimination myself (i don't have an easily identifiable/stereotypical jewish name or appearance) many many people have (for literally thousands of years) and there's so much antisemitism in our society. it's exhausting seeing it, hearing about it, reading it in books, etc. sorry for the very long message but sending much love and gratitude <3<3 you're amazing

I was just talking to someone else about Jake from Brooklyn 99, I’m gonna watch the show because everyone keeps telling me great things! And Taub… yikes… his character isn’t bad, but man do they really use his Jewishness as a punchline sometimes, granted House does it with everyone, but it feels more offensive with Taub. Dr Cuddy in House is Jewish too, played by Lisa Edelstein. But that was more of the case that she was Jewish and they let her character be too. But yeah, Jewish rep is such a small fraction of characters, and meaningful Jewish rep even more so.

There will be “Jewish” TV shows like The Goldbergs or Maisel, and people consider that rep… but 1. There are almost no Jewish actors in either of those shows, 2. Heavily stereotyped, 3. If the only time you can see more than one of two Jews on screen is in a show that is about Jews… It’s still othering Jews by literally putting them into a different show. I can easily name more than a dozen shows with no Jewish characters, which is just so terrible. Especially because there are so many different Jews in the world. Not every Jew is from New York and speaking Yiddish. There’s an entire other type of Judaism called Sephardic Judaism and there’s almost no rep there. Plus, there is barely any rep for Jews of color (especially played by Jews of color). I also have a friend who’s Jewish and Chinese, apparently that’s a super huge sector… yet, I can’t remember the last time I ever saw that represented by an actor who is. Sorry, little rant.

I love hearing about people’s Jewish upbringing, because there’s such a diverse range in the way people live their Jewish lives, and it doesn’t make any Jew more or less Jewish than another. I’m really glad you’ve never been discriminated against, like honest to god that makes me so happy. I’m the total opposite. Nearly been killed and attacked a handful of times, so any time another Jew tells me they’re able to live without worrying for their life, it makes me so happy and hopeful that maybe one day we all can. Probably a big hope lol, but maybe.

And yeah, Jewish representation is something that people don’t wanna hear about, because it would require people to understand more about Judaism and Jewishness, and due to history/society/culture, many think they already know everything and learning more would make them reevaluate things. And many don’t want to.

First off, I'm totally okay with you replying and posting my asks, because you're always so helpful and super detailed in your answers that I'm sure other people will find helpful too, so I don't mind being the naive, uneducated guinea pig to ask the stupid questions. X)

Okay, your reply actually made me tear up. Guess it's my emotional week, haha. Thank you so much for saying those things; my god it feels so good to hear that maybe I'm not weird, and to know that other people feel this way too and like these things and don't judge me for my preferences.

My whumping started as a kid too, with good ol' Teen Titans. It was the first time I had ever seen the show, and the first scene that I saw was Robin falling through the ground and presumed dead; the whumperflies hit me hard and I had no idea what the feeling was, and I just thought "Wow this is a good show." Since then I had always used my bed time to imagine whumpy scenes; sometimes I'd even go to bed early just to do it before I was too tired to think. But that feeling that I had really scared me, I thought I was a bad person this whole time, or a creepy child. I can't believe other children did this too, it's so relieving to hear.

Dude, I'm literally watching B99 right now and that episode where Jake breaks his ribs but still wants to go after the guy and keeps ignoring Terry's orders to rest is just chef's kiss. I also love Cardcaptor Sakura so that's awesome too!

Whump is so scary to even think about when I'm around people because what if they suddenly saw into my head and were completely weirded out? I kind of hate watching things with people because of that. And that makes me feel lonely, because I still like watching shows with my family but I always have that in the back of my mind. And what if a whump scene comes up and then I see how they react to it adversely and I feel bad for secretly relishing in it?

I read the post you linked, and one statement jumped out at me: "A lot of us are asexual too and I think whump gives us similar feelings to arousal without it being sexual. (at least for me it does)" so if it's okay with you, may I ask you to elaborate? I think that's me but I also don't want to assume if I'm interpretting it incorrectly. I don't know much about asexuality and I know even less about arousal so I could be totally wrong in thinking that's me, but I don't know how else to describe why I like whump.

Okay I have seriously become obsessed with Jason Ritter so if you or anyone else wants to squeal about him PLEEEEEEEEASE let me know because I have NO ONE to talk to about this man and it's seriously driving me crazy. Teen Titans is great! That's a great show to first find out you like whump! Robin whump (for any Robin) is good whump 👍 Omg yes I had no idea other kids did it either until I found this community. Okay I 100% understand that feeling when watching shows with family. There is only one person in my real who knows that I like whump and that's my sister and she has been sworn to secrecy. I'm terrified of the day I slip up or she slips up and let my mom know what I actually like in my media because she would never ever understand it. I try very hard not to smile too much during whump scenes when I'm watching with people and I don't tell anyone what kind of fics I read or why certain episodes are my favorite. I love my family but they wouldn't get it. Especially my mom. She'd probably send me to therapy lol. I don't feel bad for enjoying what I enjoy anymore but I don't feel like trying to explain it to them ya know? So yes I understand completely and I think a lot of others here would as well. I wish I could offer some advice but I think we're in the same boat on this ❤ At least you can come here if you ever want to talk about your favorite whumps! That is just one of the many great things about having this community. When we can't show it in our real life, we can always come on here and chat with people who get it.

Okay the asexual attraction whumperflies comment. Yes. I would be more than happy to elaborate on that! It's a little hard to explain because I don't fully understand it myself and it's just kind of a theory I have about myself but I shall take a stab at it lol. So I'm asexual and that means i don't feel sexual attraction. At all. Don't know what that's like. But the feelings and sensations I experience when seeing good whump is similar to when I feel arousal (which is different from attraction by the way! Arousal can happen for a variety a reasons without the need of sexual attraction) and it's also very similar to what I've been told is sexual attraction but since I don't actually know what sexual attraction feels like I can't confirm that but I can describe what I experience. So when I find good whump I get flushed, my heart rate accelerates, I get a sort of clenching feeling in my genitals (tmi sorry), and sometimes my chest tightens. But those feelings for me are not at all associated with sex or anything related to sex. For some people it is but for me all those feelings mean to me is that the whump is good. I still have no desire to have sex and this isn't sexual to me at all. Funny enough I don't even think it has anything to do with the actor or character. It more so has to do with the visual or the sounds or the actions. Hence why sooo many characters and actors become my whumpees. So it's weird but my whumperflies and are like my ace version of what allos feel when they feel sexual attraction. I think? Like I said it's really hard to explain well. And this is just what I feel/think about it. I'm not speaking for anyone else. Did that even make sense?
