Peter, about Spider-Man: He’s not that bad.
Jameson, mockingly: With how you defend the little punk you might as well be married to him!
Peter, quipping as a defense: If only he’d pop the question.
Jameson, missing the joke: …You’ve been dating Spider-Man?
Peter, stunned that was his best excuse: I-I uh…
Jameson: My own employees! Playing kissy with the web-head!
Peter: Look Jonah, if you just let me explain-
Jameson, realizing printing an article about Spider-Man being gay and dating the guy who only submits pictures of him will sell a fortune: Oh you’re gonna tell me everything, Parker.

I know 'person with secret to hide spots other person with secret to hide but doesn't say anything' is like. Thee trope in superhero crossovers, but come on! Some of these guys have been doing this for decades! There's tons of heroes that have gone to pretty extreme lengths to be Completely Imperceptible in civilian life.
Don't you think it's scarier, after all is said and done, to sit there and think I didn't notice a thing? I wouldn't have ever realised? I would never have known? To know that someone you were familiar with - close with, even! - had this whole other personality and skillset and powers and experiences and life just behind the curtain, and they hid it so completely you didn't even see it was there.
'I always knew there was something off' what if you didn't. How world shaking would it be to be so utterly blindsided? To know that this person had somehow learned to so deceptive?
#Strongly inspired by the dp x dc where Danny knows what up IMMEDIATELY or a bat clocks Danny as super suspicious within mins of meeting#Or the amount of reveal fics caused by the hero slipping up in some stupid way and getting themselves doxxed against their will#Like come on!! Full time heroes like superman or batman or Spidey go to great lengths to construct an entirely separate civilian persona!#And yes I know they've had their idiot moments when it comes to their identities but they've kept their secret rock solid for irl DECADES#What's an identity reveal without drama!! Shake it up! Stir the pot! Not a slow and gradual build up of suspicion and stress#But two high speed trains coming at right-angles and the audience is the only one who can see the incoming crash#Twist the knife in if you want. Make it HURT. Make it completely rewrite what they believed.#Short ID reveals are great for this because you can SEE the ripple effects spreading out as the story ends. Just BANG.#But also no ID reveal at all. The main character goes through the story regularly interacting with and developing character right alongside#A hero in hiding and no one is ever the wiser. You're a worker in WE fending off attempts to steal your inventions and Bruce Wayne#Invites you to his office to discuss security and he walks you back to your office when you get nervous about a break in.#You're struggling with school bullies and getting into trouble over your photography hobby and Peter Parker is right there alongside#You complaining about rich kids and fiddling with the outdated finicky lenses you got from the school.#You're a reporter unpicking a mystery scandal and you ask resident tank Clark Kent if he's able to play bodyguard if you go somewhere shady#The reader knows. No one else notices a thing.#And besides focusing on the civilian side is a nice change of pace! Let's see how they manage leading double lives!#What do I even tag this#batman#superman#Marvel#Dcu#spiderman#secret identity#identity reveal#long tags#captain marvel#miraculous ladybug#I know I know#hero and villain

@wazzappp got me into ghost rider (v. robbie reyes) and let me play with some ideas plus mine.
so.
obviously, dying in a comic book universe means. less than nothing, half the time (unless you're a regular person, in which case rip), but man if your origin has you dying i think the technically completely and utterly dead angle should be leaned the hell in.
most of the time Robbie does look very alive from literally every standpoint (providing you dont look too close at his insides but. more on that later) but i think its fun to work with the idea that the magic/willpower/however it works has a time limit connected to his rider form-the longer he goes without transforming, the more it starts to fail, resulting in things like the vent and suit markings (<concept from wazzapp) becoming more prominent and metallic, his good eye getting milky and dull, any injuries gained not hurting, but also not healing, his skin losing vibrancy but also becoming kind of gray-ish because of increasing mercury levels in his blood (<another wonderful idea from wazzapp), and if he puts off burning up for long enough, even things like rigor mortis and livor mortis (blood pooling due to gravity) to start to set in if he stays still for long enough and coughing up toxic metal
by virtue of burning up his whole entire body, becoming the ghost rider resets the clock on his limit, although things get a bit wobbly once he realizes he's actually dead and he didn't resuscitate-resuscitate, on account of the wavering in the subconscious belief that helps hold him together
also, i think it's fun if Robbie's skull is always made of metal, not just when he's the Ghost Rider, it's just that. usually you can't see it (and bonus if he's working at least partially on zombie-esque rules, having metal protecting your brain is handy)

Oof, this was rough to read. I don’t think we’ve ever seen Spidey feeling this bad after someone he’s questioning gets angry with him. I know Robbie has no way of knowing it’s him, but boy, Peter sure is a teenager who just got yelled at by an adult he looks up to, huh?

Would you write anything with/about Spider-man 2099? 👀
This ask made me scroll back in my blog and go, "Wait did I actually write the entire manifesto on why Miguel is a communist icon because I thought I had refrained from that."
I'm 95% sure that I did, in fact, refrain from explaining why there are only two good superhero media (The Incredible Hulk 1977 and Spider-man 2099) because they are the only two truly socialist superhero media. I must have mentioned that I fucking loved Spider-man 2099 somewhere. Because I fucking do. Miguel is THE character of all time. I love Spider-Man, I love characters who are COMPLETE DICKS, I love guys who just kinda wanna go home and sleep.
I absolutely would write something for him, I fucking love that guy. I haven't had a really solid idea yet, one that would make a story that would get off the ground, but if the stars align then hell yeah. Miguel is the perfect superhero because he never once tries to stop anybody from robbing a bank, committing a crime, disturbing the peace, etc. He will only ever do anything helpful if it fucks over Cyberpunk Dystopia Evil Corp, because he hates them, or if his brother nags him to do something about systematic oppression. Over the course of all of Spider-Man 2099 he stops ONE mugging. Because a cop was mugging a woman. So he could beat up the cop. Character of ALL TIME.
....this isn't a story idea but I was absolutely joking about hypothetically:
imagining one of those tepid-ass mcu spider-man fanfic where there's a class field trip to stark industies or something and peter's outed as Tony Stark's Baby Son Boy, of which there are literally 500 and every one is exactly the same I don't read mcu peter fanfic anyway
tropey fic where peter's doing that tropey hijinky runs away from crowd of friends to hide in a broom closet and preserve his secret identity
except he just opens the door to an abandoned wet lab to see miguel electrocuting a rat or something
peter is fucking convinced dr ohara is a mad scientist stealing starktech genetic secrets. tony doesn't listen because he thinks peters feelings are just hurt after miguel called him the saltine cracker of nepotism. miguel is, of course, stealing starktech time travel technology. meanwhile a guy in a black spider suit is firebombing the NYPD
miguel assumes that the richer and more important you are, the more evil you are. faced with involuntary time travel, he is operating under his standard MO of finding the most evil corporation in the tristate area and looking them up on glassdoor. working under this assumption, miguel assumes itll be too much work to go ahead and kill tony stark in the name of the proletariat but he does slowly sabotage their entire genetics division.
MJ threatens to break up with Peter if he tries to stop the NYPD from being firebombed

It's not a secret that Miles and Miles Gonzalo's love language is play fighting. Almost every day, the twins are either locked in an epic playful wrestling match or grappling with each other because one refused to share their bag of chips. Because Miles is Spider-Man and can punch a hole through a boulder, he's always careful not to cause any permanent injury to his twin. He is constantly dialing his full strength back to 10% to avoid accidentally breaking Gonzalo's bones.
Their play fights are usually held in Gonzalo's bedroom, sometimes in the kitchen ( Rio put a stop to that real quick after the twins accidentally dented the fridge when Gonzalo slammed Miles's head into the fridge's door ), the backyard, and even in Uncle Aaaron's living room. Aaron would be sitting on the couch, chilling and watching tv, while the twins would be off to the side, trying to put the other in a headlock, laughing and trash-talking each other. Aaron doesn't bother butting in, but occasionally he'll glance away from the television to watch them with a fond expression before going back to watching his show.

I think, considering the posts I’m seeing, people are getting confused on what a canon event is because the way Miguel defines it to Miles vs how he talks about his own “canon breaking” just don’t align neatly with one another, and are probably foreshadowing a loophole Miles will expose if the writing doesn’t go the route of entirely tossing out canon events.
They are, as Miguel explains them to be, specific story beats that will just happen naturally to every Spidey. They can be interfered with yes, but to catastrophic consequence to his mind. Simply existing in another dimension like the spider society or nicking gizmos like Hobie isn’t canon breaking, because it isn’t touching any story beats.
This feels confusing because the way Miguel talks about his adopted universe disintegrating makes it sound like he thinks his very continued presence did damage to it. Unless his counterpart’s death was specifically supposed to be a canon event for Gabriella, I can’t see how it fits into the previous model.
But that’s not the way the story is presented, and I think Miguel’s emotional vulnerability about that trauma, combined with the dissonance between both “definitions” is supposed to draw our attention to the idea that while this character is operating out of a sincere desire to prevent this every happening again, his understanding of what caused this disintegration is flawed and not immutable.
