the other thing about being disabled in academia is everyone is like "yeah we can't do much about the buildings they're old :/" as if "old" being a synonym for "inaccessible" isn't just a constant reminder that the people who built the school did not imagine that someday someone like me might study there
A month ago I started an internship as an accountant, two days a week I go there and work.
Last week, during one of the days I wasn’t there, my teacher called my workplace to ask how things were going. My boss told her everything was going great and I did good work and her response was, according to my boss, “even with the headphones?”
I wear headphones during all my classes because there’s so much noise. That facility was given to me to the school because of my autism. When I got my internship, I didn’t mention my autism (you never know how people react to it), all I did was mention that headphones help me focus, which is true.
I wear headphones at the office all the time. I only take them off when I need to talk to someone to get their help. My boss hadn’t even noticed that I was wearing them as often.
And then my teacher called and seemed genuinely surprised that I could work there “even with the heaphones” I scored 90% on all my accounting classes but she thought I couldn’t do it because of some stupid headphones.
She mentionned the headphones three times in that conversation with my boss, because she was so surprised by him saying I did good work.
Like, I'm not saying the current direction of Witch from Mercury is beyond criticism, but y'all, nobody's carrying the idiot ball, nor is it a gratuitous miscommunication plot. Our Heroine tried the honest-and-forthright-communication thing last episode. Twice. The first try got her stonewalled and the second try got her blackmailed. She's doing the stupid thing only after trying the smart thing and having it repeatedly blow up in her face. That's different!
DISTRACTIONS
sometimes its the drive to help and save our friends that pushes us to learn and to succeed. unfortunately its normally ''unethical'' to replicate that in a classroom setting.
I ONLY JUST FINISHED THE LAST PAGE HERE, THE FIRST TWO WERE LITERALLY FROM LAST YEAR, N A FEW MONTHS APART. LOOOOK AT MY EVOLUTION. im very proud of this and bled REALLY HARD FOR THE LAST PAGE. PLEASE ABSORB THIS.
people under 21 should not legally be allowed to have opinions sorry
edit because apparently I have to say this: I obviously dont mean EVERY teenager in the world. sometimes things just aren't about you. this post is about the 400 15-18 year olds I see Monday-Friday and sometimes Saturday
hey man. i'm just saying. why would we put inexperienced teenagers with over-inflated egos and obvious emotional issues into combat classes and make them claw their way to the top of their dorms and expect things to just run smoothly. who actually thought this
I wonder if people realize Sonas are meant to represent you and that they’re not really an OC to pair up with another OC
Had this experience with an ex-friend where they used their Sona for OC stuff and it was relatively fine until I realized how. touchy and lowkey intimate they tried being with my OCs and then my own Sona and it got uncomfortable
Zuko decided to give him chocolates for the day, he's just coming to terms with his feelings for him, but... Aang's locker is full of candy and gifts.
Every time he gets a chance to give him the chocolates, someone interrupts them with a bigger and flashier gift for Aang. This makes him more and more upset.
At the end of the day, he hasn't given him the chocolates and Aang has bags full of gifts. Zuko no longer wants to give Aang the chocolates because he accidentally ruined them because he was upset.
When Zuko wants to go on his way, Aang stops him and hands him some homemade chocolates, he too has wanted to deliver him chocolates all this time. Surprised and excited, he also hands the chocolates to Aang and he eats them, realizing that they are the first chocolates Aang has eaten even though he has many.
After that, both of them promise what gift they will give to the other on the White Day.
it's sound weird, but i have headcanon that Hunter didn't go hexside, because he too old to shool(according to my feelings, at the end of the he is 16-17 y.o (except for the post-credits scene), and at that age it is already too late to go to school):p
i mean, well- in my opinion he rather certainly did go to hexside, since one of the things he'd said during his TTT monologue was "i'd like to attend hexside like a normal student and play flyer derby with my friends" and all of his "wishes" were supposed to sort of foreshadow his goals and his future (carving palismen, studying wild magic, etc etc) so i feel like it's safe to say he succeeded in becoming a hexside student as well. we also know he attended grom with the rest of his friend group, and like- since he's 16 before the timeskip (no canon certainty whether he's recently turned 16 or is going on 17 already though, but like... around 16 canonically) that means he'd get at least 1 year of school, but most likely 2+.
my personal headcanon is that he went to hexside for around 2 years (full or not quite, depending on when the school year starts in the boiling isles and how long it lasts; possibly even 3), and during that time he picked up a mentorship/apprenticeship at del's palisman carving shop, and after he graduated from hexside he started carving palismen professionally with the clawthornes (i like to think that he also takes some courses at eda's wild magic university in his spare time, simply cuz . funny uni hexsquad shenanigans)
While I personally think Jiang Fengmian should’ve been in love with Wei Changze if anything, I’d murder for fics that dig more into him meeting and befriending Cangse Sanren.
Like, I categorically refuse to believe that Baoshan Sanren’s student have any fucking idea what the real world is like if they never left the mountain.
Which means that Jiang Fengmian met the weirdest fucking person. CSR probably insulted him three times within the first five minutes of speaking to him and seemingly only did one offense on purpose (asking why such a dressed up pretty boy was on a nighthunt in fancy clothes) and decided he found her honesty refreshing.
I want the antics of JFM and his Very First Friend with no (political) agenda, who asks a thousand questions about things he’d never even thought to reflect on and treats everyone equal—
(“Except assholes. They deserve it.”)
—and is a little petty and mean, a bit too much for people, especially polite company. She keeps making fun of him and when one day his temper does snap and he criticizes her back, she just pauses before breaking out in laughter.
And like, he isn’t in love with her, but he loves her all the same as this odd terror, burning bright.
What I imagine a more realistically-sized school dorm room would look like based off of my own university dorm room experience. If you were given this room when you first moved into Ravenwood, how would you customize it?
I’ve moved out of my uni accommodation, saying goodbye to the city that has taught me so much after the past five years. So many other goodbyes: friends, lecturers, dance partners and teachers, silent goodbyes to the library and the spot where I always worked. I am glad to be moving forward though, it felt like it was time to move on.
y'all who else sobbed and got hysterical over school assignments/projects because you wanted to make sure they were exactly what the teacher was expecting and you weren't missing anything at all but no matter what the instructions/directions were to vague and you literally needed clarification for everything?
today at school, the honors chemistry teacher XYZ gave everyone a pop quiz. it was about polyatomic ions and whatnot and the entire class bombed it (class averages ranged from 2-3/10 THE WHOLE DAY so i'm told).
Mr. XYZ told them that if all the other periods did worse than them, he would raise their and only their scores. now surely, among these honorable, respectable students, they would do what was best for the majority and warn the others of the looming danger, yes?
what i saw proceed was the most brutal, tragic, and coordinated form of psychological sabotage i have ever personally witnessed occur in real life. the ENTIRE period organized to convince all the other students of Mr. XYZ that it was about lewis structure or some other garbage (idk lol our class is behind) instead and not ONE whisper of the plot leaked. i witnessed close friends from infancy betray one another. whispers of lewis structure became the knives with which allies stabbed one another in their backs, smiling as they sentenced comrades to death by grading. i'd be willing to bet that at least one friendship was broken today over the pop quiz.
the thing is, this is not the first instance of Mr. XYZ being the mastermind of student misery. i'd be willing to bet that Mr. XYZ is a social scientist or whatever they're called posing to be a teacher at our school studying the minds of high school students.
everyday i wake up and thank the Lord almighty that i am NOT a student of Mr. XYZ
I had such a relaxing weekend—I was in a great mood and I think it’s because I got 8+ hours of sleep 2 days in a row. 🤯
Enjoyed a cappuccino and studied at a local cafe yesterday morning, then spent the afternoon baking apple tarts and dancing around my apartment. All in all, a great day. 😌
