Hi everyone,
Since Halloween is coming up, I thought I would share a helpful post put together by the one and only Neurodivergent Lou 🙂
This can be applied to ADHD too since they also experience similar situations.

Tips for anxious people to help them out of their "comfort zone cage"
A Comfort zone is defined as a psychological state in which a person is in a place or situation where they feel comfortable and in control. The things in the comfort zone are familiar and rarely expose those inside to experiencing new challenges. The person isn’t being exposed to new things, thus allowing them to relax. Having a comfort zone is nice, but letting that zone grow is essential to living a fulfilling life. The danger of not allowing your comfort zone room to grow is that it can become more like a cage that locks you inside of it. For instance, I’m Agoraphobic, meaning I get seriously anxious when I try to leave my house. Don’t get me wrong, there are other definitions for Agoraphobia, but this is the category that I fall into. My house became my comfort zone and I’ve become so comfortable and feel so safe inside that now when I leave, I’m exposing myself to scenarios that I no longer feel comfortable in. This puts me into an anxious mindset which makes it difficult for me to overcome, causing me to often experience panic attacks and fainting spells due to overstimulation and high levels of anxiety. A better way to explain this is by using the “Comfort, Stretch, Panic Model" of Ryan A, and Markova D. They define 3 different learning processes which all people experience throughout their lives, well… Except maybe sociopaths. First, we have the Comfort zone. I’ve explained this a bit, but I’ll still touch on the basics just to get the point across.
The “Comfort” zone: Inside our comfort zone, there is no fear or discomfort. This is the place we feel most at ease, as all things here are familiar to us. We aren’t exposed to new learning processes or challenges here, but this is also where the downside comes in. You see, without opening ourselves up to those new challenges we have no room to grow or reflect on ourselves as individuals. Things here just remain the same (much like me and being worried about leaving my house).
The “Stretch” zone: In the stretch zone we reach our middle ground, right between the three zones. Though things seem new and unfamiliar here, learning is still possible. By being exposed to new challenges in small doses we can explore our boundaries and maybe even push at them a little. - The “Panic” zone: This zone is exactly as it sounds. It’s a mental state in which we experience stress, panic, fear, and challenges in a manner that makes learning impossible, typically engaging the “fight or flight” reactions. In this state, a vast majority of our energy is spent on us trying to control and manage our stress, fear, and panic. When a person gets trapped in this mindset for too long they begin to struggle with exploring their boundaries and in most cases it causes them to slink back into their comfort zone, making it more and more difficult for them to leave their comfort zone, hence the term “comfort zone cage.”
As you can see from the explanations above, the comfort zone cage isn’t a physical problem, it’s a mindset that people who struggle with anxiety too often can get stuck in where they fear new challenges and experiences. In my opinion, and I know this is going to make the anxious few nervous, the best way to creep out of that comfort zone cage is to open yourself to new experiences in small doses. Take those baby steps to introduce yourself to things you might enjoy, but baby steps only. Don’t overstimulate yourself or put too much pressure on the experience, or you may reinforce the anxious habits and tendencies that have you feeling trapped.
The goal here is to slip into the “stretch zone” and explore ways to build new “happy habits,” as the more you can get out there and try those things, the more often you’ll be able to do it and the better you’ll feel when you succeed. Don’t forget to applaud your efforts when you make progress as this is another “happy habit” that will help reinforce your efforts toward rewiring your brain. Don’t beat yourself up when you don’t succeed, instead, find the areas that you did well in and maximize on those. Be nice to you! <3

Hey friends, just a quick reminder that YKINMKATO means "I don't like that thing, but it's okay if you do/you're not a bad person for liking this thing I don't get"!
Be careful when you're calling a kink or trope you don't like "disgusting/gross/immoral" that you're not also calling people who are into that thing those same names.
Enjoying something in fiction does not equal endorsement of it in real life. And! Even if it does in some cases, other people enjoying something doesn't have any impact on you or your life.
You can dislike/be squicked by something, and just... Not engage with it. Don't read it, but also don't shame. Be kind to yourself and avoid it, but also be kind to others and let them enjoy in peace 💜

TW: self harm
i just want to put this message out there. i know i like to bring up that scene where ram rocks the shit out the punching bag and then the wall at approximately 1hr10mins into the movie like its a fun goofy silly thing he does because he doesnt know what to do with his emotions
and this is so crucial so listen
so much of the mental health narrative has been led by the afab community, because there's always less of a wall for marginalised groups to do something unorthodox. and so some of the more typical amab presentations have slipped under the radar, or worse, gotten classified as normal behaviour.
punching a wall is a form of self harm.
if you're amab or know someone who's amab who does this, then i would like you to pause and consider where it is coming from, and work with a mental health authority to divert that into other healthier coping mechanisms.
you're valid and im proud of you and im here for you.
now someone tell this to ram my poor lil scrunkly wunkly

Chemistry behind Giant Hogweed
Tumblr media
Giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum), also known as "cow parsnip," is a perennial herbaceous plant in the Apiaceae family. It is native to the Caucasus and Central Asia and was introduced to the United Kingdom as a horticultural plant in the 19th century. The entire giant hogweed plant contains furanocoumarin compounds, with the main components methoxsalen, psoralen, and bergapten🌿⚠️.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These compounds have a unique feature - they're phototoxic! 😱 When the plant's sap comes in contact with your skin and is exposed to sunlight (UV radiation), it can cause "phytophotodermatitis" - an intense reaction that resembles a burn. 🔥
The symptoms include redness, swelling, blistering, pigmentation, and scarring that can last for months. 😫If exposed to giant hogweed sap, the best course of action is to immediately rinse the affected area with a large amount of water, cover it with clothing to avoid exposure to bright light and seek medical advice from a healthcare professional if the symptoms are severe.

Think I just avoided a scammer lmaooo
A lady on instagram contacted me for a commission, explained it how she wanted it barely and demanded to pay immediately, when I told her the price, she wanted to pay 4x the value and demanded my email to credit me, I told her I only used invoices which would need her to give me her email instead, then she insisted the other way and got mad that I wouldn't obligue, she just stopped answering. The way she acted I thought she was either a scammer or a Karen lol
To those who might not know, quite a long time ago someone once said on twitter (bless their heart for alerting) scammers use your email address to send you a fake Paypal mail that says they payed you a high value, then shortly after they get a random excuse to get a refund but you never got any money, then they'll bullshit you into "refunding" them saying YOU are the scammer.
I hold that info close to my heart since then and I'm glad to it right now because that "lady" was quite convincing and her later erratic behavior could have gone unnoticed if I didn't know better
Also I just went through twitter to see if I could find that absolute angel's tweet and noticed there have been several paypal scams going around, please take care out there friends, do not accept sent money and use invoices, if you're still not sure check the email's header info to see the sender and to whom you can reply (like the pic below, that belongs to @/shanselman on twitter)
Tumblr media
Always check for typos on the mails and do not trust people who ignores the invoice tool and insists on sending you money. Unfortunately we artists need to protect ourselves very well against scammers because Paypal will always favor the "client".

going through my old journals as part of therapy homework and i'm reading a section written in the emotional wreckage of a full-on breakdown when i get hit with this line:
There is never a satisfying answer to ‘Why didn’t they love me?’
like wow babe. good fucking point
#like you were on the ground biting the carpet and dry sobbing while you wrote that and still. good fucking point#not a shitpost#cptsd#and it's true. there's never a satisfying answer#the truth is i know why i wasn't loved#i analyzed my parent's traumas and abuse to death. i understand why i alienated and was alienated from my siblings#i know why my mom was too overwhelmed to be capable of nurturing#i know why my dad vanished into addiction and avoidance#the details of our cycles of trauma and cptsd and family history i have a phd in all of it#i understood perfectly. i spent years studying and now i knew the answer#and guess what? IT WAS NOT SATISFYING!!!#because they still didn't love me! and i still couldn't change that!#it was still a completely unsatisfying state of affairs!#so like. when the people who are supposed to love you...don't.#when the people who are supposed to take care of you...fail to#you can look for answers and reasons and explanations#but that's not actually going to FIX your situation.#and it's probably not within your ability TO fix the situation. (and definitely not your job)#because you don't need answers--you need a new situation#*inserts Just Walk Out. You Can Leave!!! (Running Skeleton) Meme*#and yes. walking out isn't always possible.#but for you i hope it will be one day soon. and i hope you build the courage to take that leap.#stepping away from the people who failed to love you...it feels like being untethered but also like being lighter than air#new and scary. immensely relieving. the future opens up. empty but empty like a canvas. blindingly bright until your eyes adjust#like climbing out of a pit you called home and for the first time realizing how bright the light of day can truly be#when you aren't just getting glimpses from the bottom of a hole
