He's the introvert tall guy dressed in black who always picks you up from work, makes sure you drink enough water, and that you stay out of trouble. In a way, some might think it must be tiring to have a partner that's just so different than yourself- but he wouldn't have it any other way.

You run into the bedroom where Jungkook is currently playing his video game, barely covered by a towel, hair up in a bun that's pretty much held together only by hopes and wishes.

"Jungkook!" You call out excitedly, and he pauses his game in a well used-to manner, making space so you can hop onto his lap, his controller falling onto the floor as he looses grip on it- more so concerned with holding you on his legs as you wiggle around. "Shower with me." You demand, and he sighs, looking over to his TV screen, inner battle hard to decide. "Jungkookie, please!" You whine, and he plays with his lip piercing.

"You know what happened last time." He worries. "You almost hit your head when you slipped-" He reminds you, but you just roll your eyes.

"There's nothing in it anyways-" You start jokingly, but he instead flicks his fingers against your forehead scoldingly, reminding you that he's not too fond of your own demeaning jokes against yourself, even if you don't out any honesty in those words. "-Kookie please, you've been at it for hours and I wanna have some quality time with my hot sexy anime boyfriend!" You huff, and he frowns a bit at that, confused.

"I'm your what now?" He wonders, and you laugh, running your fingers through his by now pretty long hair. He himself doesn't really know what you see in him- but he knows you love both him, and his appearance a lot, no matter if he just woke up, if he's sick, or if he's looking his best.

'You're like, my biggest boy-crush, ever!', he remembers you confessing to him one night in his apartment as you had shared pizza- just after he'd opened the glass bottle of strawberry ramune for you with one hand. 'like, please crush me with those hands, mister!' you had dramatically whined, and back then, he had taken it as nothing but playful joking.

Oh how dense he'd been.

"No really! You kind of look like Miyamura Izumi from Horimiya-" You tell him, pink sparkling acrylics combing over his scalp in a way that would make him purr, if he was a cat. "-a bit more buff and with more tattoos, but still. We gotta watch that show by the way, it's so cute!" You giggle, and he swallows down his own shyness creeping up. Even after half a year of dating you, he's not yet used to your boldness when it comes to complimenting him. He's not really used to it. Maybe never will.

But then again, he also thought of you as nothing but a hollow barbie doll come to life, in the beginning. Come to discover, you're not at all empty inside- but filled to the brim with color, by now having started to paint his life and even himself in more hues than he's ever really thought existed.

"Please.!" You try again, attempting your best puppydog eyes- though he's a little distracted by your cleavage dangerously exposed, towel hardly holding on. "Oh! I bought a new brand of body-scrub, by the way! Strawberry sugar, the one you said you liked when I first came over?" You remember, and he nods, sharing the excitement a lot more subtly than you, who's buzzing just at the thought of your new purchase.

"I remember that. It smelled really nice- but I thought it was discontinued?" He wonders, pulling out the hairtie from your bun to make a proper one for you.

"Oh it is! It's a different brand this time, but it smells pretty much the same.. and the container is like, bio-something, like, it's not plastic-"

"Biodegradable?" He asks with a smile, and you snap your fingers at him.

"So smart, those glasses really aren't just to look good." You praise, and he chuckles. "Anyway I'll scrub your pretty skin down top to bottom if you shower with me and maybe give me a handjob?" You ask, and he sighs a bit bashful. Sex is a big part of your relationship- you're very open with it, show your love in a more physical way than he does. He's never really been a cuddler, or someone to hold hands with- even kissing in public had been nothing but a myth to him prior to dating you.

These days? He can't seem to escape you- and he doesn't want to, either.

Sex has turned from something.. well, somewhat enjoyable to him, to something exciting and even romantic, even during the most messy encounters. It's like he's gotten a unique craving just for the taste of your way of love him- a craving only you can really satisfy.

"I'll even suck you off-" You start again, and at that he averts his eyes, shaking his head with a laugh and red ears, showing clearly that he's caving in, making you laugh as you get up- towel dropping, leaving you completely naked as you run into the bathroom, only turning around for a second to peek around the doorway into the bathroom, bare chest clearly visible as you see him pick up the towel. "oops." You tease, and at that, he suddenly dashes towards you-

easily catching your naked body in his arms as he closes the bathroom door behind him.

Saw your posts and your anon posts on Aroace Alastor and wanna chime in lol. I 100% agree with everything in those posts. And to me the best way to describe how the fandom overall has been treating him is, well.

Shipping is the adult version of taking two dolls and making them kiss, right? The show creates these characters and gives them out to the audience to play with. The lesbians get a doll, the gays get a doll, the pansexuals and the bisexuals all get dolls specifics tailored for them. And the straights are allowed to play with the dolls but ONLY IF they treat the dolls like how they’re shown in the show.

And then finally, the Aroaces get a doll, one made just for them.

Except. We’re told. That it’s not for us. That in fact, we have to share that doll with everyone else because they want to play with it too. And it’s fine, sharing is caring, right? But now they don’t want to give it back. Now they’re making that doll that was made just for us do something that it’d never do in the show. That goes against everything the show depicted that doll as. That takes away the quality about that doll that made it be just for us. They do it, and then flaunt it in our faces. And when we ask for the doll back, when we try to tell them that that’s not how it is, how it’d act, in the show or otherwise. That’s not how your supposed to play with it. They tell us that it doesn’t matter, that it’s all just pretend anyways and why are we getting so butthurt over a stupid toy?

Well, maybe we don’t like it because you have ALL THOSE OTHER toys you can play with! One for every color on the rainbow and then some. But you’re insisting you want to play with our doll, and that what made the doll special for us is wrong and broken and needs to be changed or fixed. And then insisting that this space, this doll, doesn’t fit us anymore, and that WE should be the ones to leave when we try to protest.

I have seen so many untagged sexual posts and fanart for Alastor while going through just the normal Alastor tag. And this is AFTER I filtered the tags of explicit content. Everyone and their father ships him with someone, and never with his sexuality in mind. Three posts down and and I’m reading something on how he’s married to Lucifer and they’re both fucking Vox. (Not to mention the plethora of x reader posts which is a double no because, a) that’s not me, and b) that’s not him!)

And maybe all this wouldn’t feel like such Aroace erasure if the entire freaking fandom wasn’t in on it. People will bend over backwards to make it “ok” for them to ship Alastor, but the moment they try it with some other non Aroace character they get crucified by the rest of the fandom. So what’s so fucking different when it’s an Aroace character who’s getting this treatment instead?

It’s just so exhausting filtering through the tags for content of the actual character, and not some bastardized OC who only shares his name. And then all the posts defending themselves with “but aroace people can still date and have sex, it’s a sPecTrUm!” Which is honestly the absolute worst rhetoric that has come out of this discourse. Yes there’s a spectrum! But they only care about it because it lets them justify their behavior.

Really wish they’d just, respect Alastor’s canon orientation and who he really is, and not dismiss the one trait that so many of us relate to and connect with him on.

(Don’t have to post this/respond. Just needed to get this out of my system. It’s been boiling over ever since the Alastor x Lucifer ship took over the fandom, and it’s been getting hard for me to enjoy that particular dynamic when every other post has them making out. I also kinda wish that if people are going to ship him that they didn’t, y’know, make him completely allonormative and actually explored what being in a relationship with an aspec would look like? Because how we view and how we respond to “normal sex/romance things” are inherently different from everyone else.)

It's such a normalized thing to ship Alastor. Whenever you search up Alastor on anywhere you'll see so many ship posts, and thats so.. absurd to me. People take away his character, and then cry when someone mentions it. What's the point when he's not anything like how he used to be? He's just a shell of his actual self, watered down to dad jokes, jazz music, and technology hating grandpa. No.. There's a reason why I like a character, because they're their own person. I like everything about a character, every part of a character is what makes that character up. Take it all away, it's boring, it's not fun, I don't want my doll like this.

Every time I hear someone say that aroace people can still date while talking about Alastor, I want to bang my head on a wall. Why are you trying to justify shipping him when, yes, aroace people can still date and have sex but does he look like he wants to have sex or date??? And even then, these people do not know anything about aspec people, they go and find something and then flaunt it in our faces like it's treasure, you have no idea how aspec people are, how they experience stuff, how they date and have sex, one nonaroace person said it and now everyone's using it as some "I got you" moment.

I'm tired of people telling us to calm down or that it's just fiction whenever we say they're erasing aroace rep. They've got so many different amazing relationships they could delve into, yet they want to terrorize Alastor over here, is there even a character he wasn't shipped with at some point?

The interesting thing about this is Turbo DOES win. He does get that attention back by disguising as King Candy and being able to race again, and he keeps it for however long Sugar Rush was around for before the events of the movie. Spamton never gets it back…

But at least Spamton doesn’t get INCINERATED so I’d say he’s better off, even if the best outcome is him becoming an item

First of all, thank you soo much!! I'm glad you think my Zane is cute!! <33

As for the "evolution" here it is:

The first time I drew Zane, I drew him like this:

Yeah.... nowhere close to the Zane I now draw, lol.

Tbh, I nvr really liked how I drew him here. To me, he just didn't feel real(?). I dunno if that's the right word, lol. He looks more like a rectangle than a human.

But all in all, I just wasn't satisfied with the results. For this fanart, I just needed to draw Zane so I did my best in this art.

The second time I drew Zane was-- welllllll, I honestly love drawing Zane, he kinda is my fav character to draw (his hair is soooo easy, lol) But I started doodling Zane here and there in class.

I do not recommend doodling in class. Be responsible and work on ur classwork, lol.

He's starting to look more human (is that the right word?) than a rectangle, lol.

Now this was a completely different art style in coloring/drawing but with all that aside-- you can see a major shift in style when it comes to drawing Zane.

(now in retrospect the eyes could use a little improvement)

Anyways, I wanted to draw Zane with a different look. From the time between the first drawing and the second, I was tweaking/improving my art style.

The fourth time was for my screenshot redraw:

Honestly, here, you can see a huge change.

I would say that the fanart for Shogun: Becoming seriously inspired me when I drew this.

I think the tip I can give you when it comes to drawing characters is to first try to find an art style that you are comfortable with drawing.

In my case, if you scroll wayyyyy down in my DeviantArt account, you can see that the first couple of artworks are all done in different styles--I was in the "experimenting" stage.

In all honesty, I believe that all artists out there--no matter how good their art is--can improve. There is always room for improvement and betterment (dunno if that's a word, lol).

So when it came to Zane (and my art style as well) I started experimenting.

Then after I was done with experimenting, I started improving my art.

Here is the fifth time I drew Zane.

This pic is actually the "foundation" of all of my Zane pics. The colors, expressions, and clothes were all done bc I experimented.

It took time--a lot of time-- to get this drawing done.

But that's how we all start, lol.

The sixth time, I drew the og Zane.

He was quite a challenge, lol. Perhaps it was the color pallet or the fact that I was rushing to get this done for Ninjago's 13 anniversary, but he honestly could use an improvement, lolll.

Now I can do A LOT of pics to show the "evolution" but imma just use the latest art.

This pic took like 10 mins (at most) to draw. Compared to the fifth time which took hours.

Drawing Zane has honestly become my fav pass-time, ngl.

I would say to all the artists out there-- just relax. Ur art doesn't have to be purr-fect. No one starts out as a professional. (unless u have some cool powers that make u draw perfectly)

Be patient with yourself.

Everyone can draw. But it just takes time, practice, and perseverance.

So don't give up. If I had given up on drawing Zane after the first pic, then I would have never drawn this cutie pie, lol.

Seokjin: 

Jin's hyung energy is strong with this one.  And it doesn't matter if you're older than him… the hyung/oppa side of him is coming out and he is going to play that card.  He's this way with the members.  Imagine how he is going to be with a partner.  So yeah…  He spies the little list you have sitting on your desk of things you need to pick up from the metaphysical store next time you're there.  

"Here, let me do it. What shop is it?" 

"Jin, I can do it.  It's no big deal." 

*withering glare* 

"Ok, damn.  Chill.  You can do it." 

*bombastic side eye* 

"It's the little building beside the cupcake shop. It's called Third Eye." 

You just need to accept the fact that Seokjin is going to spoil you and you're going to have to let him.  

Because if you don't - A, he's going to pout and B, he's going to do it anyway so you might as well just accept it, write the list and let the man feel needed.   

And if for some god forsaken reason you decide to say, "Jin, I love you and I appreciate it but really, I can do it. You don't have to pick these up for me." 

Just know, that you are going to be on the recieving end of major sass, possibly his mad angry rapping skill featuring that little vein in his neck trying to pop out and then a pompous little dismissal something along the lines of:

"It's healing for me, jagi.  Now, would you really deny me the opportunity of healing?" 

So just suck it up and accept the fact that you have a very loving partner who is going to spoil you with candles and whatever else you might possibly need or want. 

Yoongi: 

This man knows how to find a good deal.   Three dollar chain? Psh. Bitch, you can't tell.  Which is why he won't hesistate to stroll up in the dollar tree and load up an entire cart with the different color glass vase candles.   He follows the 'dollartreefinds' and 'dollartreecandles' hashtags on instagram purely for this reason.  They come out with new colors?  On it.   They've released pastel versions for spring?  Add to cart.   Black candles for spooky season?  Bitch, please.   You will never run out.   And because he saved so much on candles… his baby wants a huge opal figure? His baby GETS a huge opal figure.   Damn straight. 

Hoseok: 

Hobi on the other hand.   Quality over everything.  Truthfully the dollar tree candles work just fine but you ain't gonna tell him that.  Well, you might.  But he ain't listening.  He is going IN.  He is RESEARCHING.   He's reading ALL the reviews.   He will find the best rated, top quality shop for all the candles.  He will be going in person to inspect them with those sharp eyes of his to make sure that they will in fact be up to his standards. And this mother fucker will stock you on all the basics he feel like you could ever need.  And then he's gonna want a list of wants.   And you better just comply or else you'll get attitude.  "Hobi, babe, this is more than enough.  I'm fine.  Like this is more than I've ever had anyway.  I don't need-" 

 "Jagi, I did not ask you what you needed.   I asked you what you wanted.  Now you can either tell me or I'm getting one of everything."  

"But I-"  

*Cue that sharp ass glare he has when someone messes up choreo.  

"Ok, ok.  This one.  I would like this one."  

"Great, add at least nine more." 

 "Hobi, I don't"  

*Glare intensifies and that jaw becomes so flexed you actually fear for your life with how sharp it is* 

"Ok, ok.  Well, these are the holidays that are coming up that I'd like to celebrate. So maybe these.  And the haters have been particularly nasty lately so maybe this one." 

"Good, baby.  See? Now was that so difficult?" 

You accept the kiss and thank him for his generosity but damn, homie gets pressed when you don't let him spoil you, lol. 

Namjoon: 

Now, does Namjoon believe in this stuff? No.  He doesn't.  He's an aetheist.  However, you do and it's important to you.  So he takes this VERY seriously.   This is important to you and you're important to him so he would never DARE to roll his eyes at it.   Like Hoseok, Namjoon his does his research.  He's not likely to go all in like Hobi but Namjoon does know the holidays you choose to celebrate or what you're typically going to do in a week or whatever.  His research however consists mostly of what the corresponding candle, color and scent or whatever would be.  He prefers wandering into the small witchy shops, definitely having a look at the book section.  He'll often pick up something occultish.  Even if he doesn't believe he does find it interesting and entertaining.  And he knows that you'll definitely want the book once he's finished with it.  Then he'll make his way to the candle section, pull up the notes on his phone and choose from there.  He sometimes cross references with whoever is working there but often times he gets more joy out of it knowing that he learned enough about something that you do to pick correctly.   You're unsure whether it's his research or his intuition… but often times he is actually spot on.  Also, if you EVER dont let him watch...he will so sad. and dramatic.

Jimin: 

Now, Jimin's approach to buying you candles is based heavily in observation.  He prides himself on how open, safe and vulnerable you are with each other in your relationship.   He's often present when you are doing workings or journaling or even shopping just as an excuse for the two of you to spend time with one another. And Park Jimin is a very observant man.  So he notices shit.   He takes stock of the fact that there are only two green candles left on the shelf and one gold one.  So he makes  a note to order some more for you because he knows you use those often in prosperity workings.  While he's at it, he might add in a figural dollar sign candle as a surprise for you to try.   The little pink birthday candles that you use for peace in friendships are down to about two in that little box.  He's picking you up some on the way home from work one night because he knows you like the ones from that supermarket the best.  You've been talking about ancestor work?   He texts you to let you know that a package is about to be delivered today so you need to be there to recieve it.  You open it and it's got not only white candles but also figural family candles as well. It's in the details for Jimin.  This mother fucker pays attention and provides based on what he sees.  He doesn't just pick blindly.  Even if he doesn't believe.  He knows you do and he wants to show you that because it's important to you… it's important to him. 10/10 if you ever try to tell him that he doesnt have to do this... will sit you down for a talk and shame for even thinking he wouldnt take care of you.

Taehyung: 

Taehyung wants to know everything.  He's probably going to ask a lot of questions.   He's INVOLVED.  And he's quite sweet and endearing.  He may not have been raised in it and he might not connect with it on the level that you.  But he's still present and participates.  He likes to learn and he loves learning from you.  So while he might do his own research… he much prefers you to be his teacher.   He's likely going to come home one day with a basics kit.  A little of everything.   What will surprise you is that it's doubled.  He's gotten one for himself as well.   What's amusing is that this little shit pulls out a damn Gucci candle and wants to know if that can be his working candle.   You just have to smile and kiss his cheek. 

"I mean, it's an expensive choice to make for your working candle, babe but yes, that's fine.  If you connect with it, that's all that matters.  For the record though, you can just as easily use a white pillar candle from the dollar tree.  It can work just the same." 

"I really like this one though." "That's fine.  If you vibe with that, then go with that.  What you connect with the most is gonna make it the strongest." 

"Ok, Gucci it is." 

You smile at his expensive yet endearing choice. 

A week later… you too have a Gucci 'working candle'.

Because obviously you're a liar and a Gucci candle is far superior.

Ever the frugal king, Jungkook is likely to come back with no telling what that he's swiped from hotel rooms for you.  He's always bring you those little teabags because 'You can use these for herbs, right jagiya?"  and if he's lucky enough to come across a room with tea light candles or incense or anything like that… ha.  Man RUNS for his suitcase!  I mean, BURSTS through the door.  "Jagi, you're going to love me so much right now."   Proceeds to empty the entire front pocket of his suitcase out.   Dozens of little scented tea lights that he has wrapped in cling wrap or put in little baggies.  "This one got a little melted but you can still use it right?" KW Does Shit So You Don't Have To

I know there's a lot of arguments and debates about AI generated art and how horrible it is, both for the artists it rampantly steals from and in the quality of art produced.

But, you know... I'm a curious person.

So I went and plugged Colin's name into a bunch of these things just to see what would happen and... absolutely nothing worthwhile happened. I mean, stuff happened... and you can hit the Keep Reading link to hear about it, but... I dunno, man.

These things have no clue what Colin actually looks like. It's bizarre. None of them got him right, yet they ALL seemed to get him... equally wrong? Like, there's some guy out there that AI thinks is Colin, but isn't actually Colin at all, and he looks about like this:

They did no better with Killian Jones, Colin O'Donoghue as Killian Jones or even Colin O'Donoghue as Killian Jones from Once Upon a Time. In fact, at that point, I was pretty much just throwing words at them that they were entirely ignoring.

Admittedly, one of the sites (Craiyon) actually got relatively close to Colin's appearance, but they also looked like they weren't making art so much as cutting and pasting his face onto art and blurring the edges. That, and they seem to think he has glowing blue laser eyes for some reason, and I swear I didn't tell them that but I kinda wish I had, because that would be a fun rumor to start. Anyway, this is the best approximation of Colin I was able to create on that site, using "Colin O'Donoghue as Killian Jones from Once Upon a Time" as the prompt:

I mean, that's not... THAT bad. But it sure as shit isn't about to take the place of fanart any time soon. And, mind you, this was the BEST of the bunch. The rest were... Well, here's a less-good example with the laser eyes in full effect:

Apparently, Once Upon a Time is now Game of Thrones and Killian Jones is Baelish and Colin has blue laser eyes pew pew pew. Again, the face is kinda spot-on, but I feel like that's because they just copy/pasted his actual face in there. Even the image quality and color depth differs on the face versus the rest of the "art". They just literally stuck his face in some art template and gave him laser eyes.

Mind you, my side piece (Tom Payne) fared no better. They seem to have him confused with that kid who played the elf-like boy in... Game of Thrones. Actually, I feel like all of these things are stuck in some kind of Game of Thrones time warp where that's all that exists and everything they don't understand must surely come from that... and there is very, very little they DO understand.

Now as a litmus test of sorts, I stuck Keanu Reeves' name in some of them, as well, and they did all seem to know what he looks like - so if you're looking to play with the face of some uber famous celebs, this might be fun for you to play with. But anybody with fewer than 5 mainstream memes devoted to them probably just makes the AI go, "Who? Must be someone from Game of Thrones."

Which makes it completely useless for those of us gathered here, even aside from the obvious ethical quandaries of art theft and the devaluing of human-made artwork.

As a final test, I asked Craiyon to show me "Colin O'Donoghue as James Bond" and it basically returned the exact same results as the Killian Jones prompt did. Though it did hilariously encourage me to try, "handsome scottish actor colin o'donoghue dressed in a tuxedo and carrying a gun as he attends a james bond movie" which is definitely not what I was looking for, but bonus points for creativity, I guess? Also, carrying guns in movie theaters is bad form and super illegal, even if it is a James Bond film, but I guess AI doesn't know that. And Colin isn't Scottish.

But he does have laser eyes. This is a rumor I'm starting right here in this post on this blog. Laser eyes. He's got 'em.

okay i spent about 30 hours on this motherfucker i am going to tell you about him now.

This is Christophe.

Everything on him is completely removable (except for his hair/face)(I didn't take off his clothes because then I would have to put them back on).

Any little black button that you see is a completely functional snap. I didn't want to give myself parkinson's doing and undoing tens of tiny buttons, not to mention the fact that i don't even own any buttons small enough for this project.

He’s even got the little details on his face, although they aren’t as noticeable as I thought they were. I made a little dogtag necklace for him to wear, because it's a really strong personal headcannon of mine and you can pry it from my cold dead hands. You can only see it if his shirt is unbuttoned though. He also has a dog toy squeaker. (Yes my dog has already tried to eat him.)

In all, I am very happy with him, even though I need to finish and fix some things, (notably the shirt, with its missing pockets and unfinished edges. (Side note- Christophe’s shirt doesn't actually have any buttons or even an opening along the front, but i decided that it would function better if I added those.)) I'll add the pockets later. I think the fleece is thin enough that I can get away with it.

If you look hard enough, you might be able to tell that one arm is a slightly different shade of tan because I didn't realize that the fleece that I had and the fleece that I bought was TWO SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT COLORS.

I actually had a really hard time with the sash because I couldn't find a good reference. I admit I didn't look very hard (but i DID look at an unhealthy amount of fanart), but I still couldn't find much. The fandom page only had front views, and searching google images didn't help much either. The front was fine, but the back was barely shown. I noted ONE scene (where at the very end) it was on screen for maybe half a second, so I had a vague idea of what it looked like.

I could’ve just left it there. I didn't need to double check. Nobody sees the back anyways. It doesn't matter. There is no point.

But i am nothing if not stubborn.

I don't actually have HBO max. So I went for the second best thing- Ze mole all scenes compilations on youtube. However, the only one I found was from 12 years ago. It's mirrored. The quality is shit. There's a fade transition between every scene. But I got it. I got the back shot I'd wanted. Here it is, in all its pixely glory.

I'd gotten it.

And I had absolutely no clue what I was looking at. (still don't)

But I didn’t want to wait anymore, I was almost done.

So I made a guess.

And all went well.

Until I saw a post.

No. It can't be.

The truth is right in front of me, all i have to do is slow it down.

yet another gif coloring tutorial

Okay, so, I posted a coloring tutorial for one of my moots a few years ago on my main, @zackmartin (I believe I've since deleted it) but that was the technique I was using when I started making gifs 7ish years ago, and I’ve since updated my routine so I decided to post a new tutorial with my new technique.

I'm going to show you how I achieved this:

I'm using Photoshop for this. I'll try to make this as detailed as possible so it's beginner-friendly, but you do at least need to know how to make and export a gif. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out! just be aware, this tutorial really image-heavy

A few notes before I begin: 1) this is like, the bare minimum most basic way to color a gif. This is what I’d be doing if I was giffing a scene and that’s it. If you’re interested in different coloring styles (like my suite life episode series) then let me know! 2) When coloring gifs with POC, you need to make sure not to change their skin color by making them too light, too orange, too yellow etc. The JATP source blog posted a masterpost of different tutorials to teach you how to color gifs in different ways (like with the pastel coloring for instance) without whitewashing/orangewashing POC. But, honestly there’s a ton of tutorials out there that show you how to avoid this if you do a little digging. NO EXCUSES! 

Anyway, let's get started! Before I do the coloring, I ofc make my gif, crop it, set the frame rate, resize, and sharpen. (you can find my sharpening tutorial HERE)

I. BRIGHTENING

(as a quick note, I don't focus much on London's skin tone during this stage, because I'm going to fix it during later steps)

The first thing I do is white balance using a curves layer. To do this, I click the little circle thing in the toolbar below the layers, and then click curves like so (you'll do this every time you want to add a new layer):

And then I click the bottom eyedropper tool on the left-hand side:

Then I click the lightest white part of the gif. (I’m not sure how to explain this well, but it basically white balances that spot to make it pure white. Like, if I clicked on the gold part of London's bracelet, then the whole gif would turn out really blue because it would be trying to white balance the gold) (hopefully that makes at least a little bit of sense)

Anyway, there’s a trick I use to find the lightest part of the gif; hold down the option key (or alt if you’re on windows) and while you’re holding down the option key, drag the little white arrow on the right-hand side:

Then I use another curves layer to do the same thing with but with the blacks. So, I add another curves layer, and then click the eyedropper tool at the top this time:

And then I click the darkest, black part of the gif. You can use the same trick by holding the option/alt key and dragging the triangle on the left-hand side:

Next, I add a levels layer. I drag the middle lever thing to the left, and the left lever to the right. (I don’t usually touch the little lever thing on the far-right, but it’s really up to personal preference. I learned to color gifs by basically messing around with settings, so I’d recommend doing the same and just seeing what you like best):

Finally, if I want to go even brighter, I usually add a brightness/contrast layer. I typically turn up the brightness a bit, and turn down the contrast. But, since I brightened a lot with the curves and levels, I usually don’t go that far. These were the settings I used for this particular gif (even though I'm going to share most of the settings that I used, I wouldn't recommend using the exact same ones on your own gif as it'll really depend on the scene you're using):

II. VIBRANCE

Now I add a vibrance layer. I like my gifs to be bright and vibrant, so I usually turn up the vibrance, and turn down the saturation a bit. These are the settings I used for this particular gif:

And this is what the gif looks like so far with just brightening it up a bit and adding vibrance (it might look a bit too bright right now, but I'm going to fix that in later steps):

III. SELECTIVE COLOR

Now, I add a selective color layer. The reds and yellows typically affect skin tones, so this is where I'll start to fix London's. These are the settings I used for this gif (I usually wouldn't change all of the colors, but this is just one of those situations where they happened to be present in the scene I'm giffing):

IV. HUE/SATURATION

now I add a hue/saturation layer. I typically turn up the master saturation to +10 and the lightness between +3 - +5 regardless of the gif. Then if I still need to fix skin tones, I'll mess around with the reds and yellows. These are the settings I used:

V. PHOTO FILTER

Next, I add a photo filter. I usually stick with the default one, I keep the layer set to normal, and I turn the opacity down to 25%:

VI. B&W GRADIENT MAP

finally, I add a black & white gradient map, and I click the little box to reverse it:

Then I set the layer to soft light and I turn the opacity down, between 10% - 20% depending on the gif:

A lot of times, I'll stop here. If I'm satisfied with the way the gif looks, and London's skin isn't too pale/orange/yellow etc, then I could just add my watermark, export and be done. But, there a few other optional steps I might take if I'm still not quite happy with it.

VII. OPTIONAL

Usually the next thing I'll add if I've decided to keep going is a color balance layer. It obviously does as it says, helps balance out the colors, but some gifmakers also like their gifs to have like, a reddish tint or a bluish tint or what have you, so this can help with that too. I wanted to balance out the reddish/yellowish tint, so these are the settings I used:

And if I want to play around with the colors a bit more, or fix the skin tones further, I might add another selective color layer or a hue/saturation layer (or both, depending).

Rarely, I might add an exposure layer. (I added one to this gif for the purposes of this tutorial). These are the settings I used for that:

And if the gif came out a bit too bright, I might add another brightness/contrast layer, except this time I would turn down the brightness and turn up the contrast (again, I did that with this gif for the purposes of this tutorial).

And, that's pretty much it! This is my finished gif!

Like I said earlier, I pretty much learned how to color by messing around in photoshop, so I would really recommend playing with the different layers and settings for yourself, as well as checking out other coloring tutorials and other gifmakers methods and see what you like and what you don't. And finally, the best thing you can do is just,,, practice. I've been gifmaking for about seven years, but I feel like I didn't really become decent at it until this year

The boy let go of his friends arm as anger took over his face

" Enough ! You make me insane ! Why do you always scare away people that try to befriend me ?! "

The boy yelled at his friend who started shedding tears

" D-Duri I-I'm so-orry but- "

" I don't care about any buts , you can't get violent with people because their opinions don't sit right with you ! "

" But he was making me look bad ! "

" He's not making you look bad ! It's just what you are and you just don't want to realize it "

Duri helped the other boy up who sobbed over his painful throbbing arm 

" I-I'm not bad "

" Yes you are ! Not only that but your toxic and annoying! I don't even know how I held out two whole years with you ! , just being with you makes me want to jump from a bridge! "

Yunho gasped as he looked up to eye his best friend

" Gosh this felt good to say , it's just that you keep making me feel like I'm an object "

" What do you me-ean ? I thought you liked my cuddl-"

" That's the thing ! I don't , just like I hate the color red and Harry Potter! you keep  assuming things and making up fantasies about us "

" Your crazy and weird a-and-"

" Why are you acting like everyone else when you kno-"

" I've had enough of playing your friend , I felt bad for you but now you just get on my nerves "

Duri sighed and shook his head

" You don't know what boundaries are and how to accept a no , so please find someone else to boss around and that will cope up with you "

" N-No don't leave I’ll stop the cuddling ! "

He fell onto his knees with tears as he watched the boy walk out the door

" I-I have no one else "

" Than wait for him outside "

The guard sighed annoyed as he approached the kid

" I can't leave he won't know where I am so I need to stay here "

" Listen, your making my job harder than it already is so please leave befor- "

" I told you my friend Duri will be back ! "

" Well I don't give a damn about your friend Dumi or whatever his name is now go out ! "

The guard yelled back and tried holding the boy to drag him out but was suddenly bit

" Stop ! "

The boy yelled when he was yanked up and gripped by the shirt

" Now listen here you little freak ! i'm not gonna repeat myself anymore , it's either you go out while I'm being nice or you'l-"

" Or he'll what ? "

Y/n stormed towards the guard and freed his hands from the boys hair that immediately hid himself behind her

" Is this what they pay you for ?! "

" Miss I was telling him that- "

" It doesn't matter if you where telling him something this isn't a justification to use force on these kids ".

“ But he bit me ! ”

" I know it’s not right but you out of all people know that your not supposed to use violence against them "

She sighed and took the boy by his hand and walked back towards his room after the guard assigned to his door let them inside

" May I know why you bit him ? "

" H-He was being mean ! "

" And why was he being mean? "

" I was waiting for my friend Duri to be back a-and "

He suddenly looked up to her and sobbed loudly while hitting his bedsheets

" H-He doesn't want to be friends anymore "

" What happened between you both ? "

" This boy ruined our friendship it's all his fault ! Now he is Duri's best friend ! "

" Calm down first and than tell me everything "

He nodded and fiddled with his fingers

" Duri said that I-I'm toxic and that he doesn't want to be friends anymore because I don't let him breath but he's not dead he breathes just fine and I don't understand why he said that "

The boy hiccuped

" Did he tell you what you did that made him upset ? "

" He said tha-at I'm annoying and that I am always making him feel like he's an object "

Y/n sighed and extended her hands for him to hold

" What is your name ? "

" Y-Yunho "

" Yunho do you know what boundaries are ? "

He shook his head and wiped his nose

" Boundaries is something that points out or shows a limit or end "

" I don't really understand "

He sniffed and looked at her with curiosity

“For example ,what are some ways you could let me know you don't like it when i hug you without asking ?"

  She looked at him and waited patiently as he looked puzzled with his own thoughts

" I can say stop ? "

" Exactly, now what do you do if someone continues doing it ? how would you feel ? "

" I would feel sad that they don't stop or push them away and say it "

" See , what if I bought you a present and said you shouldn't open it until I'm back but you do it anyways how would I feel ? "

" Sad and angry at me "

He answered lowering his head down ashamed

" Hey don't lower you head , did you open a present without my permission? "

Yunho shook his head and looked up again

" So why did you lower your head than  if you didn't do anything wrong ? "

" I don't want to upset you "

" Yunho it's ok , did you realize how your friend must have felt because you didn't respect his boundaries ? " I think he was really upset because I didn't listen

" I think he was really upset because I didn't listen when he said stop to hugging or alone time "

" People are in charge of their own bodies, and it's not okay to touch them if they don't want you to, just like it's not okay for someone to touch you in a way you don't like ok ? "

He nodded

" Just like if I touch your hair or open something without your permission? "

" There you go I hope you learned something from this small talk we had

She smiled and held her hands up for a high five

" Do you promise me you'll try to respect other peoples boundaries ? "

He nodded clapping her hands with a smile

“ Who are you ? ”

“ I’m your new psychiatrist Y/n , I’m here to help you now ”

“ Do you want to play cars with me ? ”

“ I’m afraid our time will be over soon ”

He nodded and took out some plastic toy cars from his pockets

“ You can be the color yellow ”

He gave her the car

“ This is the car that my brother Gunho gave me before coming here , it’s beautiful right ? ”

“ It indeed is , well Yunho i need to be on my way now but I’ll see you tomorrow ”

“ Do you have to leave already? ”

He looked at her sadly before gripping her hands in order for her not to go

“Don’t worry I’ll pick you up tomorrow for breakfast , is there anything you want to eat ? ”

Video game night

Hello hello!! I wrote this fic for @justmultifandom ! A while ago, she shared an headcanon of Pidge and Keith playing fnaf together and then did a drawing of them going to the fnaf movie! I asked her if I could write something about it! She accepted but that was a few month ago so yeah, I took my time for that one too... but anyways, I still hope you like it!!!!!

Keith was always on missions with the Blade of Marmora, but no matter how busy he was, he always found time to contact her, to visit her when he could.

It all began with nightly calls. They would chat briefly before saying goodnight. As time went on, their calls grew longer, and they even started leaving the line open as they slept. Then, Keith had an idea. He wanted to spend more time with her, to share something beyond their nightly conversations. That's when they started playing online games together.

However, Keith knew that online interactions could never replace real-life moments. So, once Keith finally returned to Earth, they immediately planned a video game night at Pidge's apartment. She had everything prepared: snacks, blankets, and, most importantly, an array of video games.

Keith's arrival was eagerly anticipated, and finally, he was at her doorstep. With a warm smile, Pidge ushered him inside.

"Welcome to game night! I've got a bunch of games lined up," Pidge announced as she led him into her cozy living room. She had set up a gaming console and a screen, with controllers ready for action.

"You got everything ready," Keith said, impressed as he looked around the room.

Pidge grinned. "You know me. Always prepared." She handed him a controller. "Let's start with something fun, but it might be a bit different from your usual games. Ever heard of Five Nights at Freddy's?"

Keith shook his head. "No, what's that?"

Pidge couldn't hide her mischievous smile. "Oh, it's just a game where you're the security guard at a haunted pizzeria. You've got to make sure the animatronic characters don't get to you. Easy, right?"

Keith nodded, intrigued. "Sounds interesting. Let's do it."

They played through a few nights, and Keith was engrossed in the game, taking his role seriously. Unbeknownst to him, Five Nights at Freddy's was infamous for its jump scares. The tension built, and suddenly, an animatronic creature lunged at the screen with a blood-curdling scream. Keith nearly jumped out of his seat, and Pidge couldn't contain her laughter.

"WHAT THE- You didn't tell me about the jumpscares!" Keith protested, slightly embarrassed.

Pidge giggled. "That's the best part! Don't worry; it gets less scary as you go on."

Keith rolled his eyes but couldn't help smiling. "Alright, let's play something else."

They switched to more lighthearted games, from Minecraft to Rayman, Mario Kart to LittleBigPlanet. As they played, Keith couldn't help but sneak glances at her. She had changed, grown up, but was still the same Pidge he had known. Still as pretty and adorable as ever, but she was older now, and so was he. A slight blush colored his cheeks, a reaction he couldn't control.

At some point, Pidge leaned against him and dozed off. Keith smiled at the sight, something so typical of her. He carefully repositioned her on the couch to make her more comfortable, then gently kissed her forehead. It was a simple, tender gesture, a reflection of the strong connection they shared.

Their video game nights became a cherished tradition, and they continued to spend quality time together. They even made plans to go see the FNAF movie together in cosplay, a suggestion that Pidge had to plead for, but Keith eventually agreed with a reluctant smile. The bond between them only grew stronger as they navigated the challenges of both the virtual and real worlds.

Marko as a dad 💚

Everyone kind of underestimates Marko's potential as a parent. He's often seen as the wild, unpredictable one, so when the idea of him having kids comes up, there's a sense of doubt.

But to everyone's surprise, the best qualities in Marko shine through when he learns he's going to be a father. He's always been so loyal, doting and ready to be there for his friends, and he'd do the same for his child in a heartbeat. And that also applies to the situation BEFORE they're born.

Anything his partner needs or wants, they'll get with no questions asks. Have a very specific food craving? He'll have it ready in mere minutes. Can't get comfortable? He'll make the coziest nest you've ever seen. Need some supplies for the baby? He's got bags and bags of food, clothes, diapers, and anything else you need. Just don't expect him to actually buy the stuff. He's still a little thief at heart.

When his child is born, he's immediately in love. Like he would 1000% walk into the sunlight for his kid, even if they're only a few minutes old. He soothes them so sweetly and promises to keep them safe.

While it's very sweet, he's also a bit territorial with his child. Even with his own friends he's hesitant to let them hold the baby. After his fears are settled, Marko will let the others have turns spending time with the little one.

Only family and friends are allowed near his kid. If Marko doesn't like you, you're NOT getting near them.

The others tease that he's more of a guard dog than a dad. But with time and trust, Marko learns not to hover so much.

Despite being protective, he's definitely a fun dad!! He's the kind of parent that thinks kids should enjoy playing in the dirt, going on adventures and taking some risks.

He's also quite creative, so if his kid likes coloring books or arts and crafts, he's right by their side, making something special together.

Is definitely the parent that saves every single piece of art their kids make in school. Does he need to hold onto every stick figure drawing his child makes? No. Is he gonna do it anyway? YES.

If his kid is into sports, he's their biggest fan. Since they're vampires, his kid only plays during nighttime. No matter what it is, he's on the sidelines, cheering the loudest!

Is big on teaching his child to care for animals. He shows off his pet pigeons to them and let's them know how to handle the birds with care.

Definitely on board with getting his kid a pet. Dog, cat, bird, fish, it doesn't matter. Whatever makes them happy.

Another thing he's surprisingly great at is teaching his child valuable lessons. Like "treat others the way you want to be treated" or "it's okay to cry if you're feeling sad". Even his friends are surprised to see him act so wise.

PRIDE DAD🏳️‍🌈

YOU BET YOUR ASS HE'D BE THE COOL DAD THAT TAKES HIS KID TO A PRIDE EVENT. No cops at pride, just the Lost Boys.

He'd teach his child about the different flags and what they all mean, encourage them to learn more about the community, and to be respectful of everyone's identity and pronouns.

What I mean is that he's definitely getting his kid a jacket of their own, and sewing on any patch they want. Maybe he'd even teach them how to sew as well.

He'd also encourage his kid to express themselves however they want with fashion. He's been around so long that he doesn't worry or care about stuff like who wears pink and who wears blue. So he's supportive no matter what.

Same goes for haircuts and makeup!

Now don't get me wrong, he's definitely a sweet kind of dad. But he's still a wild child at heart, and he's letting that rub off on his own baby.

He teaches his child how nazis deserve to be punched in the face, that cops aren't your friends and that privileged people in power try to keep down those who are poor, POC, or a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

In a way, Marko encourages his child to be a vigilante of some sort. Taking down those who think they can mistreat those who don't deserve it.

If his kid gets into a fight, he's either tagging in to help or defending them so they don't get in trouble.

When teaching his kid how to use their powers, he's encouraging them to be ruthless with their kills. Leave no survivors and enjoy your meal.

He also does a bit of combat training. Deep down, he's terrified that someone is going to hurt his baby, even if they've got powers to defend themselves. He just wants to do whatever he can to keep them safe.

Marko isn't the best with discipline. He loves trouble-making and being a bit chaotic, so unfortunately, his partner will have to be the "strict" one.

However, if his kid does something where they're potentially in danger, THEN he'll give them a serious talking to.

"I told you not to go with strangers! You could have gotten hurt! I was worried sick!"

He's worried about his baby.

Oh yeah, God help anyone who hurts his baby. They WILL die, and it will be painfully slow.

Now I personally HC him as being Italian and also Jewish (in honor of Alex Winter's faith). DISCLAIMER: I'm not Jewish myself. However, I believe whatever important teachings or stories he wants to share with his child would be done in great detail. He'd share details about his heritage and culture, teaching his child Italian and Hebrew as best as he can.

((Side note: If anyone out there does in fact practice Judaism, I would love to get your thoughts on how Marko would relate to it. I want to be as respectful as possible and learn whatever I can!))

Overall, Marko is an amazing father. He's devoted to his baby every step of the way. He's not perfect, but what parent is?

Would be referred to as "Avi" by his kid. (meaning 'My father' in Hebrew)

Favorite nickname for his kid would be "Bambino/a" (meaning 'little child' or 'baby' in Italian)

heya! i’ve noticed that the gifs you make are verryyyyy high quality. i’m new to gif making (literally just downloaded photoshop yesterday 💀). how do you manage to upload your gifs without tumblr compressing it? or i guess, how do you edit your gifs so that it’s a smaller file size?

(re: uploading) I don't really do anything special. i just click the lil blue new post button select image and choose the gifs to upload. i think whether or not or how much tumblr compresses our gifs**, as long as they're ok quality they'll be able to withstand it.

(re: file size) i don't think i do anything special either but here's my setting. i stick to 540 px width and don't cut them too long. the only other thing i would change is the number of colors. most of the time i will compromise color for size (i try not to go below 128 colors)

(re: making them good quality) i avoid over-sharpening (pixelation) at allllllll cost. i'll choose under-sharpening over over-sharpening any given day. here is a lil write up from a while back on everything i do to sharpen my gifs.

besides that. since gifs can have 256 colors tops, the more 'neutralized' your gifs are, the less pixelation you get (so that the 256 colors can now all concentrate on bringing out the most realistic skin colors, for example). @ariesrain's gifs (hope you don't mind me using ur gif ariesrain!!) are excellent examples on how eliminating certain colors can make other colors in your gifs butter smooth (you can see the greens in the plants and the blues in the zippers were both neutralized. you also feel like ur looking at daniel ricciardo in person)

on the other hand, @3-13-3's works (hope you don't mind me using ur gif 3-13-3!!) are excellent examples on how giving your gifs more different & saturated colors can bring the liveliness to a maximum

in the end i think it's a matter of finding the right balance and doing things the way you like!! the same goes for gif sizing. some of my gifs look like they're gigantic (vertical) and goes on forever (duration) and have a decent amount of colors (if i do say so myself). in reality they're probably barely 10 colors away from being pixel art. the more extreme you want some factors to be (duration, height, colors), the more time you'll likely need to spend on finding the right balance (to keep it under 10mb). and over time you start to get a sense of which gifs are worthy of trying and which gifs will most likely be lost causes (ie there's no way you can do under 10mb at 9:16 vertical)

**p.s. i just did a lil research re gif compression (downloaded some gifs & compared them to the originals) and i think tumblr actually stopped rehashing (compressing) gifs some time during the last two weeks. With the older ones you can see signs of compression but with the new ones they're literally the exact same gifs down to the pixels. which is honestly good news!!

how do you render your colors so nicely they're very pleasant to look at

thank you, that means a lot! :’D

honestly, i haven’t done many studies of actual lighting from life, i just try to learn from whatever i see around me. if i like a piece by another artist or a pretty photo, i try to figure out why it appeals to me, and i play around until i can replicate the look in my own art.

as a disclaimer, non of this is scientific or realistic by any means, and it’s not a good reference if you’re trying to create really accurate lighting effects - this is just a stylized suggestion of light that i like to paint.

first i choose my base colors. for characters i draw often, i make fixed color pallets for them that i like to think of as their “absolute” or “true” colors - basically what they would look like without any outside influence from environments and lighting. just the flat colors.

then i take the true color of their skin tone for instance, saturate and darken it slightly, and add a neighboring hue to it. in this case, jack’s skin is a pinkish color, so i add more red into it to make the shadow appear richer and more lifelike [it’s hard to explain, so if you need a more detailed guide on that, i can make a visual one]. i take that darker tone and “sketch” out where the shadows fall on the face. these particular shadows are pretty contrasted and dramatic, but these techniques can apply to softer shading as well.

now here’s the fun part: darken, saturate, and shift the hue of your shadow color again. it looks wild, but outline the edge of your shadow with this darker color, and it creates a sort of burning effect. it looks like warm, harsh light on the skin.

then blend out the outline into the shadow a bit. i really love this effect and while it’s not appropriate for every kind of lighting, sometimes i use it anyway just because it adds a shiny quality to the painting.

now highlights! for lighter colors, i take the true tone of jack’s skin, then lighten and desaturate it. i also shift it’s hue as well, but instead of adding a red tint, i lean more into the orange side of the sliding scale. this sets it apart nicely from the shadows and creates a sense of depth.

finally, i sometimes like to add a bluish, more desaturated tone in the deeper parts of the shadows as if there’s another light behind him. there can be many different light sources in your character’s environment and i like to consider what best sets the mood of the painting and makes it feel more immersive. jack has a soft blue light behind him, and it reflects on the shadowed part of his face.

then i like to add a quick filter over the art to see how it would look in different environments. light can change the true colors of your character to extreme degrees, and depending on how you paint it all to interact and work together, you can create the illusion of something that we know is a pinkish color, even if it appears dark auburn or greyish green due to the lighting, for example. this is just one short [and admittedly rushed] example of lighting, as there’s infinite possibilities and variations in what you can do. but this is my personal favorite technique and the moment and it’s really satisfying to paint.

also, i forgot to do it here rip, but often i will take a blush color and blend around the character’s cheeks, nose, ears, lips etc to add some inherent variation in the skin and keep them from looking like a creepy porcelain doll lol.

What kind of paint do you use for your MLP customs? Like, what specific brand would you recommend?

Great question! Honestly, for the longest time I just used the most basic craft paint from Michael's, like Apple Barrel and the like, and tbf they do work okay! The issue for me was that because they're cheap (accessible!) I could get tons of colors, but they were so unpigmented that I had to do tons of layers just to get the opacity I wanted. Thus, all of my eyelashes turned out way too thick and blocky, and it was really frustrating.

A huge upgrade for me was upgrading to an artist quality white acrylic, originally just so I could do eye-whites that wouldn't be crusty and chunky (due to layers), but the REAL game changer was getting the Citadel miniature paints. Those things are so thin, and so pigmented, I'd get full coverage in one layer, maybe two tops. My eyelashes got soooo much more precise!!

They're pricey, like $5 a bottle, so if you are just starting out I still recommend you just go for Apple Barrel or whatever cheap acrylic Michael's has. (I feel like Apple Barrel is the worst, LOL maybe Americana is the more 'quality' version for a dollar or two more?) Decide if you LIKE customizing before you drop $90 on paint, you know? (And I'm sure if you're Bob Ross or some kind of amazing artist, you can make amazing art with the worst paints anyway!) But if you need/want the extra ease of NOT having to double back over the same lines over and over again, at least invest in a high quality white and black, and it'll make your life so much easier. (Also, if you outline all of your designs in the high quality white, when you go over them with the colors it'll make the colors pop that much brighter without having to do tons of layers!)

I still use my old "craft" paints, but I do notice the difference more now. Still, it's nice to have the wide variety of colors that I've collected over the years, compared to the small handful of Citadel colors I have so far. So realistically, Citadel is the best; but I still use all of them! I just rely more on Citadel for the tiny detail stuff, like eyes and especially eyelashes. I hope that's some help!
