The biggest fucking lie anyone had told, ever, had come out of Sampo Koski's mouth that afternoon:

C'mooon. I can be good.

You know for a fact that this is a lie, because through no will of your own you have become quite well-acquainted with Sampo Koski, and if there's one thing you're sure of is that he has a physical aversion to doing what he's told.

He had been told, for example, the following many times: Leave me alone, Koski. You're a fucking creep, Koski. Stop conveniently walking by my workplace the very minute I finish my shift, Koski. No, you can't buy me a drink, Koski.

And yet he shows up anyway, like a bad penny, like a dog someone hadn't reprimanded harshly enough and had come sniffing around looking for scraps. Maybe you're too nice, but you sort of doubt it. You think it's more likely that Sampo likes when you talk down to him, which is a whole other can of worms that you're not remotely interested in opening.

"I get the feeling you're mad at me," comes that familiar simpering voice, sliding home into the booth opposite you. Sampo slumps forwards against the table with his face squished against his open palm, grinning that ever-present crescent-moon smile. Cut-jade eyes glimmer out at you through the half-light of the tavern. They always seem to be glittering, despite the absence of any real light. "It's this nagging feeling!" he continues gleefully, even when you glare at him. "This annoying but rather persistent voice in the back of my head keeps telling me that when you tell me to leave you alone, you actually mean it!" He gives a hearty laugh, toying with his flask of ale, and peers up at you through his stupidly thick lashes. "Still, I know it can't be true, considering what happened the other night."

Stupid alcohol. Stupid Sampo. Stupid, stupid you.

One day of weakness. Being a Silvermane Guard was never exactly easy work, but most days tended to be less harrowing than the one you'd had. Every lead you'd chased had slipped through your fingers, and your shift had ended abruptly when the brother of a victim you were seeking justice for had elbowed you to the ground in frustration and spat on you. Your superior wrestled him off you and told you to clock off early.

You supposed she was being kind, but it just made you feel more useless than ever. Boiling with anger and with nowhere to put it, you stormed to the nearest tavern with the intention of drowning your sorrows. Two cups of mead in, you'd gone outside to clear your head, and there he had been, lurking around like an alley cat, sharp eyes lingering on everyone who walked past. No doubt looking for his next easy target. You clear your throat pointedly, and he spins around. Surprise quickly melts into familiar delight.

"Captain, my Captain!" he trills, slinking over as he was wont to slink everywhere.

"Not a captain," you remind him for the fortieth time. "Why are you loitering around here, Koski?"

An affronted hand to his chest, as though clutching imaginary pearls. "Oh! Did they outlaw that, too? Going to cuff me and sling me in jail, hm?"

"Don't fuckin' tempt me," you grumble, tipping your head back against the wall of the tavern. "Can you hurry up and commit a crime in front of me, or something?"

Sampo grins. "Rough day?"

"You're not helping," you snip back, slightly unfairly. He isn't really doing anything more than hanging around being irritating. He slinks closer, slinks like he always does, like it's the only way he knows how to move. Oozing around like a toxic slime, draping himself against the wall just in front of you, arm braced against the brick behind your head.

"I could, though."

His forwardness is hardly a surprise. There isn't any danger of missing his meaning in the sleepy droop of his eyes, the lazy smile curling at his lips. Sampo is an incurable flirt to each and everyone—the thing is that most of the time it's part of the con. You know a few Silvermane Guards who have fallen into his charm and his bed that cut him a lot of slack where they really, really shouldn't.

Sampo Koski has friends everywhere, and that's what makes him so dangerous.

You know this. You have done for a while, especially because he'd been trying to worm his way into your bed for about as long as you'd known him. You resent the thought of him having any sort of power over you, though. There's no denying that he's attractive, and you've often wondered if he would be able to put his money where his mouth is, for lack of a better phrase. But handing over that amount of control to someone like Koski is just incurably stupid.

Because then you're trapped. Every time he'd catch your eye afterwards, they'd glimmer, and you'd know he was remembering your moment of weakness, inviting you to remember it too. Every time his eyes would rake down your body you'd know he'd be recalling when he'd seen it devoid of clothing, sweating, trembling. Every time he'd look at you, he'd know he'd already won.

Really, there's a very simple solution. Don't let him win.

"I bet," you breathe, meeting his eyes for once. You can see them widen slightly, his lips part in surprise before he makes a recovery from this most minuscule slip of his mask.

"Ohoho?" He lets out an irritating little laugh. "Gosh. Must have been a really rough day."

"I'd prefer it to get rougher."

Sampo's mouth splits into a wide grin, one almost fanatical in nature. "I should've pegged you as the type!" he gushes. "Why would anyone be nonsensical enough to join the Silvermane Guards unless they secretly enjoyed a little pain? Between you and me, Captain, I don't mind it either."

"Why doesn't that surprise me?" you sigh. "Only a real masochist would so frequently try to get under my skin."

His lashes flutter. "I'm trying to get under much more than that, Captain."

You grab him by the front of his shirt and drag him down the alley beside the tavern. In the dusk light, the two of you slip into the shadows almost immediately, and you follow the narrow path down to the back of the tavern, where the noise of the street outside is quietened to a whisper. Sampo giggles behind you.

"What an exhibitionist you are," he says slyly. "I should've expected it from you, I guess. I guess—"

You plant two hands on his chest, shoving him back into the brick wall, and kiss him. His words flutter to a halt and he stifles a yelp of surprise against your mouth before his eyes squinch shut. His hands aren't shy, flying up to grip your waist, and you press yourself flush against him. He makes a whimpery noise into your mouth as your knee slots itself between his legs, pushing up. He runs hot, you can feel it even through his clothes, and it's a welcome immersion from the perpetual algidity of Belobog.

He grunts as he pulls away, and you take in the slightly glazed look in his eyes and the high colour in his cheeks with a tinge of gratification. "We don't have an awful lot of time," he says pseudo-apologetically. His hands fly to his belt, fingers working nimbly at the buckle. "I'm due somewhere in twenty—"

His voice stammers to a halt when your hand clamps down over his, stilling his fingers. Sampo blinks up at you, puzzled; the penny hasn't yet dropped, you suppose, even as you patiently pry his fingers away from his belt.

"What are you doing?" you ask bluntly. Sampo's lips part and he looks at you as though you're quite delusional.

"Ah... ahem?" He laughs nervously. "Is that a trick question?"

"No," you answer easily. "What are you doing?" Off his bewildered look—which you take the time to enjoy, considering how little you get to see anything but smug ostentation on his face—you shrug. "Oh, I see. That's what you thought this was? I take you into some... secluded little alley, and I get you off?"

Sampo's mouth drops open. "I—I would've—"

"Let's not delude ourselves," you interrupt, and push your knee up between his thighs again. He makes a high, shaky noise in the back of his throat, tipping his head back against the brick wall. "D'you really think you've earned that?"

"Hm?" Sampo swallows hard, the juts in his throat flexing. "I—"

"All you do is hang around bothering me," you hiss. "And you think... what, one well-timed innuendo is all it took for me to change my mind? If you want to get off, then get off." Your knee slides against him, the stiffening in his trousers, and he makes a rather pathetic noise.

"You're not serious," he gasps, cheeks flushed scarlet. His sleepy eyes are wider than you've ever seen them and trained frantically on you. "Come on, Captain, you can't mean that. W-what would you get out of it, even?" He tries for a smirk. "I promise, if you let the reliable Sampo get his hands on you, you won't regret—mmfph?"

Your fingers slip under the stupid windows flaring over his hips, gliding over the skin there. He runs so warm, and it's ridiculous considering Belobog's perpetual winter, as you curl your fingernails into the skin of the small of his back 'till it dimples and drag his hips painstakingly over the flat of your thigh.

This time, sweet as music, he doesn't talk. His mouth drops open and he lets out a shivering moan, gloved hands scrabbling on the brick wall behind him. "You really are serious," he says in disbelief even as his hips roll absently against your leg. A strained laugh escapes him as—finally—a painfully scarlet flush starts bleeding into his cheekbones. "I always knew you Silvermanes were crazy."

"Mm. Not all of them," you say quietly. "But I am. I'm pretty crazy."

Sampo shudders, one that worms its way slowly through his whole body, and then he drops his head against your shoulder. He smells nice, like smoke and mint, his hair soft as it brushes your skin. His hips move languidly against you, stuttering occasionally, unsure—until you flex the muscle of your thigh against him. A whimper breaks free, high and whiny like shattered glass.

"You're so cruel," he groans even as his body drags against your leg. You underestimated how overwhelming it would be; his breath in the hollow of your neck makes the skin there hot and clammy, and when he moans it goes right in your ear. You're certain he's exaggerating to get your resolve to weaken. Nobody actually sounds like that.

And you can feel him, hard and hot as a brand, pushing up against your leg. You shudder almost imperceptibly, because yes, yeah, you're wondering how he would feel inside you, but you can't—not tonight, you promise yourself as your teeth grit. Tonight isn't about that.

It's about winning.

"Please," Sampo grits out, turning his head so you can see slices of his moonstone eyes through the sweaty locks of hair. "I—nngh, oh—I want inside of you."

"Take it or leave it, Koski," you say, a bit too breathlessly for your liking. He shivers with a sulky noise, and the whole time, even as he talks his hips are rolling against your leg. He picks up speed as sweat starts rolling down his skin, as his hands scrabble over the brick and then fly out to grab your waist and haul you closer. His strength is ridiculous—but so is yours. You let yourself be pulled, feeling his mouth and teeth against your ear, the breathy noises spilled across your jaw.

"Oh—please, I'm close." His eyes blink up at you, wet and deceptively innocent. The look on his face is almost heartwrending. "I need you, anything—your hand, mouth, anything, I don't care, please—"

"You're going to cum in your pants against my leg like the dog you are," you spit, your hand fisting in the hair at the nape of his neck. He yelps, the flush on his cheeks darkening, eyes fluttering shut. "And you're gonna be grateful you even got that much."

Sampo moans, broken and high; his hips stutter against your leg as his hands curl into your waist so hard you're sure they'll leave bruises. But under the pleasure is a certain frustration, a sobbing sound as he cums and it sets your blood alight. You shiver with the delight of it.

The seconds that follow feel like victory.

Sampo peels away from you, stumbling back against the brick wall behind him. He's scarlet all the way down to his chest, his mouth agape and eyes wide and glittering with unshed tears as he uncomfortably adjusts his pants. They're dark and it's night, so he can probably get away with them until he gets the chance to go home and change, but the thought of him walking around in soiled underwear thrills you.

You probably are actually crazy. Sampo's annoying, but he's quite perceptive.

He clears his throat, shifts his weight from one foot to the other. "Well. Erm. That was..." He swallows. "The great Sampo really got himself in a rather sticky situation this time, didn't I?"

"Poor choice of words," you supply, and he winces, flushing harder.

He clears his throat. "Like I said, I, erm, have somewhere to be. Nice catching up, though." He puts two fingers to his temple and flicks them into the air in a mock salute. You watch as he spins lazily on his heel, rolling his shoulders as he starts his walk back down the alleyway.

"By the way," he added, pausing a few feet away. "I certainly hope that wasn't your way of trying to dissuade me." Your eyebrows raise, and he grins; his canines are sharp, and you can see them flash when his lips peel back. "Well, be serious: once you feed a starving dog, it doesn't leave you alone, does it? It comes back for more. Maybe it even follows you home."

He leaves you with that, one last lingering look and an implication that has you burning more than anything that transpired in the last ten minutes.

You get the altogether not unpleasant feeling that this will be far from the last you see of Sampo Koski.

D - Depraved: Does your yandere have a shrine? (If so, what's on it?)

I don't think Ed is really the type to have a dedicated shrine, though I do think he'd have keepsakes of yours around his work area or on his person. Pictures of you, writings or doodles you may have made that he was able to snatch up (maybe even saved out of the trash), pieces of clothing that he was able to cut or rip off… You know, normal stuff! Little things to sate him while he couldn't be with you.

I can also see him considering the crimes he committed in your names as a sort of ‘shrine to your love’.

E - Erratic: How unpredictable are they? How quick are mood changes?

Ed prefers sticking to plans when it comes to his crimes, but he can be prone to unpredictability when it comes to social interactions, typically. He can be prone to paranoia and reading into things. Inconsequential words or even a change in tone or expression could be suddenly seen as slights or insults against The Riddler, which can lead to explosions of anger and accusations of betrayal towards civilians, the authorities, Batman, or in the latter case, his hired help. 

But with you, Riddler feels at ease. Any paranoia is soothed by your presence. With you, he feels so at ease. So right. His equal. His match. His soulmate! Any desperate need for validation is quelled by you. Even if you argue and fight with him, he'd know it's not anything you have against him - well, not really. It's not your fault you've been lied to! You'll understand that you and he were meant to be after he helps you unlearn all the horrible things the idiots of this city have force-fed you.

After all, if you weren't perfect for one another, why did he feel so safe and secure with you?

I - Intimacy: How intimate are they with their darling?

Ed is so touch-starved it's not even funny. He never wanted to be separated from you! Be prepared to be basically smothered in affection. Hugging, cuddling, nuzzling, smothering you in kisses - everything he's missed out on, he wants to finally make up for. All his time spent waiting for the perfect partner is finally worth it now that you're here! And as stated above, he won't get angry if you don't reciprocate. You're just confused, it's okay. 

Any attempts at fighting him or cursing him out will just lead to him cooing to you condescendingly as he ties you up in restraints so you can calm down… Though, he may not be able to hold back from being affectionate before you're done with your time-out. He just adored you so much! You know, exposure therapy is a very effective treatment for aversions, and this would be the perfect opportunity to show how wrong all those fools in this cesspool of a city were.

This candid of Dame Lucifer was taken by Diavolo as she passed by the area on her way to the stage after having her makeup done by Asmo.

Diavolo and Lucifer go to a cafe which boasts new specials. Despite his aversion to photos in a public place, Lucifer poses for a surreptitious photo while there, prompted by Diavolo's excitement at having ordered a ridiculously large and aesthetic drink for the first time. Lucifer ordered a small cake and took off his gloves to enjoy it. [the drink and cake are cut off]

This is the selfie that Lucifer took in MC's bedroom after having a heart-to-heart with Diavolo in the "Creating Records" WW. Lucifer only took one picture before giving the phone back so it is slightly blurry, but you can clearly see Diavolo's surprise.

It was a long and tough snowball fight between Lucifer and his brothers at RAD. The battle was hard won and as everyone left to go back inside, Diavolo catches Lucifer looking at the sky and decides to make it snow. Diavolo takes a picture of Lucifer's peaceful face, committing to memory of what it looked like when someone cared for family as much as he did and what it meant to him to know that they were safe.

Diavolo is very happy about Lucifer in his uncharacteristic unicorn onesie. Lucifer is annoyed that the presentation of his personal image, something he takes a lot of care in, is being offset by this travesty; however, Lucifer lets Diavolo take a few photos before he takes off the onesie with full intention to toss it into the flames. [MC rescues the onesie before that happens]

Diavolo and Lucifer are in Lucifer's bedroom drinking horns of Demonus. Diavolo remembers that he had a gift so he presents Lucifer with a Demonus body pillow. Lucifer, being drunk, is uninhibited in showing how much he likes it. Diavolo takes a photo of Lucifer cuddling the pillow, but as Diavolo is also drunk, he fails to consider environmental lighting, composition and the fact that his finger is in the shot.

The Fantastic Three go on a business trip. They have a little bit of time to relax so they go to the hot springs in Moryo Town. Diavolo, being playful, decides to splash Lucifer with the hot water and instigates a splash war. This photo is taken by Barbatos who is the only one able to avoid the portent of shenanigans.

The Fantastic Three go camping. After a full day of Camp Master Lucifer's treatment, Lucifer shows Diavolo how to cook marshmallows over the fire for s'mores. Taken by Barbatos.

Diavolo and Lucifer are in the Human World for business. They decide to play chess in the park like retired old men. Diavolo wins the first round white and decides to switch places with Lucifer. You’re not sure how you end up at every single house party. You have an awful aversion to them, yet you’re still there, holding a solo cup of water.

It’s really not your scene— the drinking, the dancing, the kissing. You feel like a bit of a loser for it.

And then there’s the fact that at each party, you’re cursed to watch George chat up another pretty girl. In fact, you’re not sure you can count all the women he’s had flings with on your fingers.

“You having fun?” he says, so seriously that you almost let out a laugh.

“Not at all.”

He looks surprised. You’re not sure why. “Really?”

“Really.”

George is half the reason you’re here. He drags you by the arm each time, promising you that this time it’ll be different. This time it’ll be fun and he won’t be whisked away by Layla or Eunice or Genevieve or whoever other girl.

“What a shame. You look very pretty tonight,” he says, flattery filling his tone. “A dance?” he tries.

You blink at him. “Oh, don’t.”

A strand of his hair falls in front of his eyes, and you’re tempted to brush it away, but you hold yourself back. You don’t have the alcohol excuse to hide behind.

“Don’t what?” he asks, seeming a tad confused and looking entirely gorgeous as he tilts his head.

It’s cruel, almost. This little game he’s playing.

“You know what I mean. The whole charade you pull with your chicks.”

His face shows no evidence of revelation. “Consider me clueless, doll.”

Now you’re getting upset. “Why are you doing this? Have you run out of girls to toy with? Am I last on your to-do list?”

He cringes. “That’s not it.”

“So what is it?”

A sigh falls from his lips, and his hands fidget with his loosened tie. “I really do think you look pretty tonight. Every other night too.”

You groan. It’s a low, throaty sound you don’t quite recognise. “This is hopeless.”

It’s taken a long time for you to come to terms with your feelings for George. You suppose they’ve always been there, lingering since the moment you became good friends. Before that.

Truth be told, you can’t like him. You don’t mean to pierce at his loyalty but he’s surely not known for being good at commitment. It’d only hurt you. It’d only hold him back.

“I’m not following,” he says, eyebrows furrowing.

“God, don’t you get it? I don’t want to be like the rest of them.” You look at the floor. Anywhere but at him.

“You’re not like the rest of them, doll,” he replies fondly, guiding your chin to face him.

His stare almost hurts. No, it does hurt. This conversation is embarrassing and you’re sure you two are getting curious looks.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but from what I know Helluva Boss is written by only three people right? That being Viv, Brandon, and Adam. And while I’m sure ideas are bounced around here and there with the team, the way this season is going is begging for an actual writers room with more experienced people. Not saying those three don’t have any experience, but it’s clear they don’t know how to mesh the comedy and serious moments together well at this point. Part of writing is knowing when you need to omit stuff because it doesn’t fit the tone or story progession that you have established, even if you very badly want to include it. The writing for Helluva Boss in contrast feels they are forgoing any sense of coherence so they can stuff in whatever they like even if it goes against previously established plot points and try desperately to get to you pity these awful characters instead of letting them learn from their mistakes and grow as people naturally. Again, if this had stayed a dark comedy, that would have been passable, but now they are trying to tell a serialized dramatic story with arcs and emotion, and it’s just failing because that is not these writers expertise. This is complete speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Viv’s aversion to any form of criticism is affecting it.

How many times must we see something terrible happen to Stolas because the show wants you to keep crying and pitying over without having these characters actually navigating it themselves? How many times will Blitz acknowledge he’s an awful person but not actively try to change his behavior in anyway and revert to the exact same character the next episode? How many times will Moxxie have to learn confidence because it’s the only arc they can think to do with him while Millie is a walking prop and Loona flip flops between liking her dad and physically abusing him for no reason? To the people who keep saying “just wait the shows not over yet!” we are basically halfway through season 2, there is no damn reason why Millie shouldn’t have had ANYTHING on her own yet or why Blitz and Stolas should be repeating the same “uwu he doesn’t love me” scene over and over again. If you give us what should be moments of character development but never actual show it through their actions or behaviors after the fact, it’s not character development at all, it’s cheap scenes you threw in cause you wanted the guise of something serious without actually taking the screentime to commit to it. And yes, the Stolas Blitzo stuff is probably going to pay off eventually, but it’s annoying for the audience to watch this will they won’t they game in almost every single episode just waiting for when the characters will finally change or have at least SOME type of acknowledgement of all they’ve been through instead of just keeping the status quo of another “Stolas looks sadly at his phone,” “Blitzo doesn’t really care about him until there’s one millisecond showing maybe he does 🥺.” Unless your a hardcore shipper, people won’t stick around with that forever.

The show wants to have world-building, quirky characters who are bad people, tons of villains, funny sex jokes, emotional investment, and a complicated romance, but there’s a reason lots of media fails when it tries to be everything at once. The Stolitz plot behind every episode now is sabotaging parts of the show that promised wacky demon assassin adventures, and the less serious moments like the Loona doctor B plot in turn ruins the atmosphere of the dramatic scenes associated with the Stolitz plot. They wanted to show a serious abusive arranged relationship through Stella, but they also wanted her to have be a campy bad guy so Stolas could have a reason to cheat on her so he wouldn’t look like the bad guy. This leaves us with confusing contradictions like Stella written as being legit mad about him cheating and wanting him dead while hinting at them having at least a positive public image as a family once through the background paintings, to suddenly her not having ever cared about him and seeking him out “cause she likes tormenting him” while she also now didn’t want him killed I guess because she’s opposed to the divorce because the Goetia want them together??, but then wanting him killed AGAIN after even though the Goetia probably always wanted that guy alive and her brother has to come in for no reason to make her look like an absolute dumbass.

Same with Loona. They try to give her development with Blitz, but they never do anything with it and by the next episode she’ll be beating the shit out of him again. “She’s a moody teenager!” She’s a woman in her twenties and I don’t care about her sometimes finding appreciation for her dad when she’ll just kick him in the nuts right after because physical abuse against a spouse is serious but with a daughter it’s funny I guess. And again, the entire argument fans have to justify this constant loop of creating and forgetting about character development is “just wait they probably have a plan.” Nah bro I’m pretty sure they just still wanted to throw edgy dark comedy in there and to do that they had to ignore any positive character changes it seemed like happened until a future episode specifically is written to continue that arc. Also the world building and class system in general is just bad when they actually choose to acknowledge it, which is rarely. It’s still so unclear whether hellhounds are seen as actually sentient autonomous people or pets, and it just makes scenes with Loona super weird sometimes. Same with imps, for an apparent underclass they sure seem to be able to go wherever they want and do whatever they want without too much trouble, and until the latest episode we’ve never seen any imp discrimination be a major factor besides comments from Stolas (which we are now choosing to ignore because Stolas can’t be a bigot that has to learn to be a better person, Stolas is perfect 🙃)

Yikes this got longer than I meant it to but overall Helluva Boss just could really benefit from some more inputs in the writing, not just ideas for story or jokes but someone who actually knows how to properly balance and structure this kind of stuff into an episode. As is it feels very disjointed, especially this season. I don’t think this show would ever be perfectly for me, just because I don’t find the humor at all funny and that’s kind of what makes the show, but at the very least it’d be nice if the actual plots and world these characters navigate was fun to watch, but most of the time it’s just not anymore, because you don’t get to actually see most characters interact or what their relationships are, and if you do they hardly ever change from what they were until suddenly it’s relevant for the plot. Blitz is uncomfortable around Stolas and is tired about being treated like a play thing, wait no now he’s turned on by Stolas’s flirting even though we’ve never seen that before and this is right after they literally had a huge fight, wait nevermind now Blitz doesn’t care again. Moxxie is always weak and sensitive when an episode is about him but suddenly super strong and has no problems killing in any other episode (“We’re not going up there just to massacre we need clients! -S1E3, exactly what he and Millie do to an entire audience of innocent bystanders in the Cherub episode and they don’t care). Stolas is super perverted and sees Blitz as an object, wait nevermind we’re just gonna change his entire fucking backstory so his behavior will look justified even though that man would literally have to be a the dumbest person in Hell to not see Blitz did not care and was actively repulsed by him all throughout season 1, yet continued to act that way to his supposed “first friend” because..he thought it was a sexy game or something they were playing? Even as a retcon for an excuse it’s still bad. Helluva Boss has no rules it sticks to, no jokes or character behaviors it refrains from even if it harms the quality, it’s just a badly written fanfic with pretty animation.

do you have any fics you'd recommend reading? like, a personal "everyone should read these they're so good jesus christ" list? i need something to tide me over until we get the next chapter lmao

So I really haven't done nearly as much reading as your typical Marauders fan. I think this fandom might have the highest average word count of any fandom I've ever been in, and committing to 500k+ words often feels impossible to my ADHD-riddled ass. I'm also bound by my extreme pickiness, as well as my aversion to heavy angst and trauma porn. I won't read anything with a sad (or even open/"hopeful") ending, and I won't read MCD. Which is massively limiting when you ship a pairing of two characters who both canonically die tragically young.

That being said, I do have some faves to share! Here are three that came to mind when I got this ask.

A Moral Obligation by Quietlemonhush. This one is a/b/o, Alpha Remus/Omega Sirius, set in a world where the good guys win the first war. Sirius is so great in this, a clever, fiery, gorgeous war hero who everyone assumes to be an alpha because he doesn't present as an omega until much later than expected. Lovely little series with delicious porn and delightful characterisation.

Pretty Little Greys by @cancerravenclaw. I don't read a lot of fics set at Hogwarts because canon makes me sad, but this one is an exception, because good lord it is hot as fuck. Remus is very possessive in this one, very dominant, and Sirius is so sweetly submissive, but still very much himself, confident and sharp. Semi-public (Gryffindor tower bathroom) sex, with lots of claiming and marking. I love this one so much.

Dear Your Holiness by MollyMaryMarie. I know this one gets recced a lot, but that's just because we all need to make sure that everyone reads it at some point in their life. This fic is an absolute fucking masterclass in UST. The near-kisses, the physical closeness, the scenes at the shows where Moony is playing just for Sirius, good fucking LORD. I would have read 500k of this without anyone even taking their pants off and I would have been fucking happy about it. There were several points during my first read of this fic where I actually had to put my phone down and walk away because the tension was too much and I needed to temporarily remove myself from the situation.

Matt Murdock ABC Headcanons (SFW)

Matt does not typically show affection– it's the daddy issues. And the Stick issues. But he still craves it desperately. It takes him a few days before he'll so much as kiss you, because he wants to be certain that what you have is a real possibility. It's a while before you can completely break down his walls, but when you do, he's constantly needing to at least hold your hand.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

He shows affection through listening to you and your body so that he can give you what you need and want. Thirsty? He knows before you do, getting you a drink in your favorite cup (which you didn't even need to tell him was your favorite). Cold? He's offering you a blanket, his jacket, or warming hugs. Staring longingly at a pair of socks? No need to ask, he's getting them for you as a present. He's such a doting partner!

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

I feel like you guys definitely met in college and have been close friends ever since. He pretends to be open and honest–and to an extent, he is–but there's not a chance in hell that'd he'd tell you about his double life. That's something you'd have to find out by accident. He's not a super affectionate friend, and he doesn't really do hugs, so expect fist bumps and high fives as your typical mode of contact. He's a really good listener (duh) and always seems to know when there's something wrong with you. He won't leave your side until you start feeling better.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Like I said, Matt has an aversion to touching, but you're special. He's more than happy to lay down and hold onto you whenever he can– in fact, he craves it. Especially after intimate moments, he can't stand to not be touching you or be close to you in some way.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Matt is so scared of commitment, it's like asking him to touch a hot stove. But with you, he easily makes an exception. He isn't really the white-picket fence type, though. He needs to stay in the heart of the city so he can do his work.

On the cooking front, Matt's an expert. He can smell the exact moment a pie is perfectly browned, hear wonderfully ripe watermelons (tap tap), and taste secret ingredients from any restaurant. With cleaning, he can sense every individual speck of dust and dirt, but he's extremely sensitive to a majority of cleaning products. He can dust no problem with the help of microfiber cloths, but mopping or wiping stuff down is a lot harder. He's had to search high and low for detergents, dish liquids, and disinfectant sprays that doesn't give him a pounding migraine for the rest of the week.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Very swiftly. Abandonment is hard for Matt, so he'd try to get the process over with as fast as possible so he can bury his feelings and move on. Of course he'd talk to you and offer an explanation if you demanded it, but otherwise he won't discuss it any further. However, he'd still want to be your friend, and would be devastated for weeks, probably months, if you cut all contact with him.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

He's scared of commitment, but after meeting you he's more open to the idea. It would be something that would take a long time to warm up to enough to actually propose, though.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Despite his reputation, Matt is the gentlest, kindest partner you've ever had. You two have probably had one or two heated arguments, tops, but even then he always walks away before he would say something to hurt your feelings. In the beginning of your relationship, his touches were featherlight and barely there, but now they're firmer and more protective. Emotionally, he's always prepared to listen to your problems and ease your worries.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Matt adores hugs from you! He can feel so much of your body against him that it gives him butterflies. With anyone else, though, he's really hesitant to do hugs because of how awkward it is to feel them like that. His hugs are warm and soft, never squeezing you hard unless he missed you an extra lot or you need to be grounded. He hugs you at least once a day!

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

It takes him a good while to say "I love you," at least 6 months. You'd probably say it first, and he'd have to solemnly tell you he's not ready to say it yet. But when he finally does, he makes sure it's a special moment that you can remember forever.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

Matt gets jealous pretty easily, mostly because of his ability to tell what people are feeling. It drives him mad to know every single time someone's checking you out, to hear all the times someone flirts with you while you're out together, or–worse–hear what people say behind your back. He settles it with meditation, though, and through a few discussions that you had to pull out of him. He doesn't want to admit his jealousy, but you always reassure him when you pick up on it.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

Matt's kisses with you are slow, passionate, and often sensual. Because he waited so long to kiss you, he doesn't feel nervous about it. He loves kissing you on the lips and the pulse points on your neck and wrists, feeling your heartbeat against his lips. He likes being kissed on his neck and knuckles the most.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

Matt is quite comfortable with children! Growing up for a majority of his childhood in an orphanage, he's very used to taking care of and looking over the younger kids. His senses help, especially with babies and toddlers who can't communicate their needs. He doesn't want any kids though, he doesn't think he could commit enough time to take care of them in between being Daredevil and a lawyer.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)

On days that Matt works: He wakes up early every morning at 6 or 7 am, depending on what the caseload looks like. He turns the coffee pot on before he showers, and when he gets out drinks a cup or two. He'll either make a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs, toasted bagels, or dry cereal while he finishes getting ready. He'll either grab the lunch you made for him or wait and buy something while he's out if you didn't have the time. If for whatever reason you wake up with him, he'll kiss you good morning and tell you that he can't wait to have lunch with you.

On days that Matt doesn't work: He sleeps in cuddling up to you, usually waking up before you and listening to you sleep.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)

The nights vary. Some nights Matt comes straight home from a day at the office, takes off his suit, and lounges out with you on the couch or in the bed in boxers and an old T-shirt. He might help you finish cooking dinner if he comes home earlier, or he'll have a bag of your favorite takeout. He'll slip into bed with you until you fall asleep, waiting until you're resting to go out as Daredevil and returning hours later. Other nights, the nights where Hell's Kitchen is especially chaotic, he'll come home, change right into his suit, give you a kiss, and then he's off. Very rarely does he spend the whole night with you.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

Matt's all walled up, he has to be. It's hard for him to let people in, and you are one of few exceptions. He reveals things ever so slowly, only giving you the unfiltered details after months to a year of knowing each other. He starts in your relationship with half-truths, like being more sensitive to sensory input, his dad dying due to a boxing match, and that he learned to fight in the orphanage. His biggest secret does take a full year for you to find out, but it's not because he tells you. It hurts him to not be able to share everything with you, but in his experience, he has to be extremely careful.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)

Matt gets angry really easily, that's one thing he still struggles to deal with. Meditation helps a lot, but it's still there and often bubbles over. He's never taken it out on you though, instead channeling it into his Daredevil work.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

He's extremely diligent. He picks up the slightest ticks from you, so he knows many things about you that you haven't even told him. The stuff you do tell him, though, he nearly always remembers, no matter how miniscule it may seem to you.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

Matt's favorite moment was the first time you bought him flowers. Maybe it was as a congratulations for passing the bar, winning his first case, or on your first date. You had bought him a dozen red roses, and he could smell them long before you got to him. It was such a simple gesture, but it had knocked the wind out of him. He'd never been given flowers before, never even thought of them as being a possible gift. The smell of the roses, the soft, velvety delicateness of their petals, the way you couldn't stop blushing– it was like sensory heaven for him.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Matt is protective to the extreme. He knows what it's like for the people he loves to get hurt by so much as being associated with him, and he knows the horrors of Hell's Kitchen, so he's very cautious with you. He's constantly checking up on your heartbeat, your body temperature, tone changes, all to look for any signs of harm or distress. When he's out Daredevilling, he'll find himself inching closely to his apartment so he can check in on you. He likes to have you hold his arm in public, both as a way to appear "more blind," and so that he can keep you close.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

He tries so hard! But sometimes his efforts come up short. It's difficult for him to balance work, Daredevil, and your relationship, so he'll miss dates, events, and forget about his side of chores. He's trying to get better at making you more of a priority, and it's working, but he still has a long way to go.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Matt is a stone wall, barely letting people in. He pushes down his emotions at any chance possible because he's scared of being vulnerable. He'll take out his anger on his Daredevil work by pushing himself too far or hurting others too much. He also pushes himself too far in general, exhausting every ounce of energy he has into work, vigilantism, and you. He has a lot of guilt and shame for Daredevil, a lot of it manifesting as good ol' Catholic guilt.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)

Matt cares a lot for his appearance! He's able to keep himself groomed to his liking thanks to his abilities, choosing just the right clothes, haircuts, and accessories to accentuate his features. Foggy still doesn't understand how he can dress himself without looking like a clown, abilities or not.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)

Before meeting you, no. Matt never craved a romantic relationship or any other friendship outside of Foggy and Karen. Once you came along, though, it became impossible for him to picture his life without you. He wouldn't be able to bear losing you.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Matt is a transfem butch lesbian, but for the most part I write her as a man for my readers 😩

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)

He doesn't like smoking (it's a sensory nightmare for him), couldn't date a boxer (for obvious reasons), and he hates reality TV.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)

Matt likes to sleep on his sides and stomach the most, which is unfortunate since he spends a lot of time on his back from being injured. He snores a little bit, but it's not too loud.

Headcanons for Astarion/Tav:

I like the idea he never honestly gets past his aversion to touch, and remains somewhere on the ace spectrum for the rest of his days. I think he and Tav can still have a very fulfilling relationship with that included. So here are some headcanons I've developed with that assumption.

(I'm not 100% married to the idea they never touch AT ALL, or that sex never happens. But atleast for me, touch/sex are very low on the totem pole in his relationship, and I wanted to sit with ways he still gets butterflies for Tav without touch in the picture.)

Cute date things that make his heart race, proverbially, without ending in anything make me soft. Like Tav showing him all their favorite spots around the city and being cute. Being excited to share that with him. It's so normal, and they're smiling at him like he's normal. Like the two of them doing something like this could ever be normal. And suddenly he gets overwhelmed in the street and stops for a second while he tries to figure out what the hell he's doing because this is all so new, and he's not sure how to do this. The feeling of shame creeps up again, and he feels like he's going to mess this up somehow. Or he feels guilt for not being a "normal" partner, and holding Tav's hand or kissing them like he suspects he should since everything else is going so perfectly. But just as he begins to doubt himself, Tav appears in front of him beaming and offering him a bottle of scented oil they found at a vendor. He gets confused for a moment, and they ask if he thinks he can turn it into one of his perfumes. It takes him a second to come back to the conversation at hand, but as he looks down at the little bottle and processes Tav's words- all the insecurities fade back into the shadows. Their smile makes his chest burn, and he feels uneasily similar to a little boy without a clue how to talk to the pretty person standing in front of him as he takes their gift. He stumbles through saying thank you. He's positive he looks like an idiot.

Tav having an air of freedom around them that just sucks Astarion in and takes his breath away. The definition of "I do what I want, what are you gonna do about it." At first, Astarion was put off by some of the nice things Tav did. Thought they were stupid for sticking their neck out. But now he admires how they commit to whatever course of action they've chosen, and find a way to pull it off nearly every time. He finds it inspiring, even if he doesn't always agree with it. He's realizing that for all he has freedom now, he never knows what to do with it. Seeing Tav wield theirs like a weapon makes his chest ache.

Astarion wanting to communicate that they're an item and that Tav is his person, but not always being comfortable doing traditional couple things- especially in public. So he finds other ways to mark his territory. Like a cat scratching a couch. He embroiders EVERYTHING Tav owns. Tav is a walking bill board for Astarion's talent. It doesn't necessarily communicate Tav is "his" to a random passer by, but there's something about knowing that a part of him is always with them now. Plus he got a huge rush the first time he gave them an embroidered gift. The way they beamed and put it on immediately and strutted around like it was the nicest thing they'd ever owned had him a little addicted to getting that reaction out of them.

He does the same thing with making them custom perfumes with scents that have "the language of flowers" meanings he picks out just for them.

Intimacy with out intimacy. This works well for my Tav who went to prison and grew up an urchin, but idk how applicable it is universally. Astarion likely is used to having very little privacy. Between the barrack's at Cazador's and in his own words, his prostitution. A lot of people in these situations get to a point where naked bodies are just naked bodies. My Tav is also very used to no privacy for intimate stuff like changing or bathing or taking a shit cause of her experiences of homelessness and sharing a cell. So idk. Astarion taking baths with his partner at the same time but not necessarily together, and realizing that they're perfectly content to just get the job done and get out and aren't even batting an eyelash at being naked around eachother. It doesn't mean anything. They're not trying anything. Its just a body, and they want to get this done so they can eat some of Gale's stew and go to bed

Sitting quietly on a couch together while your character fiddles with their own hobby and he embroiders. He's never felt as safe as being able to enjoy the quiet comfort of someone's soothing presence. They don't even look at him, but they don't leave. They're here, sitting with him. Because sitting with him is enough. They're not here because they want to look at him. Because he's pretty and they want him. They're not here because they want him to touch them. They just want to sit with him. And that is enough.

Well that's what immortality does to you, my friend. The human brain is not designed for this kind of thing. It's miraculous that he wasn't insane by the start of "Shadow and Bone".

He also willingly stopped feeling emotions because they distracted him from his goal.

Furthermore, he was raised by a mother that kept telling him to never believe in love and always tried to isolate him from people he could bond with.

And I don't think you call someone "unfeeling" when he seems concerned about what will happen to Ravka and the Grisha or when you remember his reaction to his mother's fall or when he saw the woman he loved lose her entire soul, her very being right in front of him. The man could feel. But his emotions were buried deep within.

People accuse the Darkling of being a murderer.

Yes, he was, I agree.

But so was Alina, so was Mal, so was Nikolai. Everybody killed people.

"But Nikolai didn't kill out of evilness"

Neither did the Darkling. He didn't do it because he enjoyed it, he wasn't a sadist. He killed because he was fighting a war. At times of peace (if there was any in Ravka) he didn't go around shooting people out of boredom.

He lied to Alina because she was a new and, apparently, naïve person that he couldn't just trust from day one. He was the leader of an army that was already in danger of being hunted down if the King changed his mind. Why should he trust her? Why should he tell her his secrets? Is she his lieutenant? Is she part of the royal council? No, I don't think so.

"He lied to her about who he is!"

Isn't that the same lie he was telling to literally everyone for 400 years? You say it like he did it because he had something personal against her. It really shows how clueless all of you are for the matters of politics and ruling. Read a book ffs.

People accuse the Darkling of committing genocide.

He didn't. He was actually a victim of one.

People accuse the Darkling of being a sexually creep towards Alina.

Aside from the fact that neither I nor the author herself consider him as one, are we talking about those moments where they already were enemies? Do you know what an "enemies-to-lovers" trope is? Do you know that in this kind of trope attraction and aversion are the primary ingredients?

Or the fact that, in the Grishaverse, the very rules of consent are different. How can you or anyone put modern laws into a fantastical universe where people with magical powers exist and things are run differently? Each universe has its own setting, structure and rules. Why are you putting your contemporary ideals and ethics there? What are they even doing there in the first place?

People accuse the Darkling of being manipulative towards Alina.

If you accuse him as such, could you please DM me the passages from the book where he did that? Because even I can't find them.

And I'm talking about before his big reveal as the "villain". Because after that, those moments are again taken as the actions of an enemies-to-lovers trope.

But where he was manipulative before that?

Good luck trying to figure out the impossibly ambiguous scenes where Leigh tried to paint him as one in S&B and failed.

I agree, he sought power. But as far as we know he never wanted power exclusively for himself. In RoW it was revealed that even the Fold was the result of him trying to stop the wars:

Wars ended and began again—and again and again. Grisha were not accepted; they were resented in Ravka and hunted abroad. Men fought them with swords, then guns, then worse. There was no end to it, and so he had sought an end. Power that could not be questioned. Might that could not be reckoned with. The result had been the Fold.

The amplifiers? To control the Fold and stop the wars.

The nichevo'ya? Used them to lower the losses of his army.

The throne? Unlike his predecessor, he seemed to be involved in paperwork, listening to his advisors, feeding his army and trying to deal with all the deserters from that army.

"You try to defend him and his actions!!"

Actually we're trying to protect him from your stupidity and inability to read between the lines and past the narrative. And the Darkling has become totally evil in the eyes of this fandom because:

A) the narrative really did him dirty. Always talking about his atrocities and villainous actions.

B) the fandom is really clueless and stupid about the ways of leadership and ruling and I will die on this hill. You have NO idea how treason must be handled, or political intrigues are working and it shows from the very first second you open your mouth. "The Darkling scarred Genya!" Welcome to the world of "treason is met with consequences". "The Darkling lied to Alina!" Welcome to the world of politics.

Also, it's the double standards that kill us. You forgive Kaz for killing people for money but spit on the Darkling for doing it for a selfless purpose. You love Nikolai for trying to usurp the throne, but hate the Darkling for doing the same when he did it to bring a change to Ravka.

The Darkling was an anti-villain. Anti-villains are characters with a noble, sympathetic goal but the means to achieve it is through violence. And these characters are meant to stir sympathy towards the reader and are, almost always, tragic characters.

Now whether someone forgives his actions or excuse his character is always up to the reader.

But let's not pretend like the heroes did better. Or the fact that you probably wanted him to act like a forgiving, kind-hearted fairy godmother after one thousand years full of shit to the point that he broke, said enough and stood up against the violence and atrocities his people were suffering from. He decided to fight fire with fire and I find that understandable, just like the majority of his supporters in this fandom.

Lawrence and Candace

I think Lawrence and Candace's relationship is severely underrated. While to a certain extent it's partially because we spend less time with just the two, but what we do see is incredibly sweet.

The first episode we really get of them together is Lawrence teaching her how to parallel park. And then driving together in a Lawrence. While he's initially nervous, he tried to not let it get it to Candace, and by the end he's having fun, and has completely confidence in her. He's really proud of her and it's clear they both mean a lot to each other. They really are father and daughter with a lot of the same expressions throughout the scene. He really is proud of her.

The second episode I can think of is with the father daughter race. They always lose, and Lawrence's laid back personality contrasts with Candace's competitive one. But while Lawrence spent most of the episode, not actually with Candace, it makes it clear just how important Candace and Lawrence's relationship to each other. Lawrence enjoys spending time with Candace. Sure Candace doesn't LIKE losing, but she's still committed to it despite her usual aversion to potentially humiliating events.

In My Sweet Ride, we have Lawrence fixing up an old car just for her. She doesn't even have her license yet. Sure, he falls asleep part of the way through. But he genuinely was like, I'm going to build a car for her. Not only that, the same one he had as a kid.

It's not like they have a perfect relationship. Candace is A LOT and Lawrence is very laid back and often doesn't really get what's going on with Candace exactly. And Candace is often annoyed and impatient with him. But it's clear they care a lot about each other and are more willing to be patient with the others eccentricities. Even when Candace is complaining about her dad's stories she's still usually, somewhat, respectful.

Now I'm going to get a little bit... fanficy but bear with me.

Now in regards to in show, the Flynn-Fletchers are meant to show a healthy blended family dynamic. While this can come in many forms in reality, in Phineas and Ferb it comes in the form of what is functionally a nuclear family. Mom, Dad and three kids. Anything outside of that isn't important and is in fact probably takes away from the message that they are just like any other family.

But that doesn't mean I don't think it's worth completely ignoring. I mean, this is where fandom comes in isn't it?

We know from a line in Skiddley Whiffers that the Flynn-Fletcher kids have known each other for at least 6 years (or since the boys were about 3 or 4, and that Ferb has lived in the US for over half his life (so since he was 4 at most). While it's not clear exactly when Ferb moved to the US, or when Lawrence and Linda got married they've been a family for a while. Ferb and Phineas have known each other most of, if not as far, back as they can remember. To them this is pretty much how it has always been. This isn't true for Candace, who is 5 years older than Phineas, who therefore probably has some memories of a time before Lawrence and Ferb. While Lawrence already had a toddler son, Candace would have been a grade school aged girl. Phineas, at the very least, is very personable and gets along well with almost anyone.

But Candace is a very anxious person, and seems to have been an anxious kid too. "When I was small the world was such a strange place", the first line of Ducky Momo is my friend tells us one of the VERY few things we know about little Candace was that part of the reason for her attachment to Ducky Momo was that Ducky Momo comforted her when she was an anxious little kid. Now, the details Flynn-Fletcher family's backstory are unimportant, but no matter how things went down its very likely that Candace did have some big "confusing" changes in her childhood based on the two things we DO know: She and Phineas are full siblings, and Lawrence and Ferb came into their lives when Phineas and Ferb were at most 4.

This is CANDACE we're talking about there is no way she wasn't anxious about something. Whether it be not trusting Lawrence, or not thinking Lawrence would like her, there is very little doubt in my mind that Candace would take a bit to be completely comfortable with Lawrence. If Phineas and Ferb wasn't, well Phineas and Ferb, it would make for some easy drama for there to be tension between Candace and Lawrence by the time of the show. Phineas and Ferb isn't that kind of show of course, but that doesn't make their relationship any less sweet.

There's no way of knowing exactly how things went down, and quite frankly I don't need the show to confirm anything to me. Whether Lawrence somehow miraculously got Little Miss Anxiety herself to immediately like him and trust that he liked her unconditionally, or if he had to earn her trust because Candace worried he would hurt her family, or that he would leave because he didn't like Candace, the result is the same. Candace could not have been an easy kid to start parenting as an elementary schooler. This is a girl who went to Mars because she thought everyone hated her, got 50 patches in one day and joined the fireside girls to see a band, read all of Sherlock Holmes in one night. She is, quite simply, A LOT. But Lawrence and Candace ended up close by the time of the series.

There is a disconnect between them. Lawrence doesn't really always understand what Candace wants (in part due to the same sort of emotional oblivious Phineas also has). But that same disconnect exists between every member of the family to a certain extent. But ultimately Lawrence and Candace ARE father and daughter. She expresses annoyance with him, but he patiently keeps trying anyway. He may not have realized she still liked her Mary MacGuffin, or that constantly losing upset her, but he still makes an effort. To Candace, Lawrence is just her somewhat embarrassing, often boring, dad. But Candace still enjoys spending time with him and the things he does for her. And he's proud of Candace and loves spending time with her too.

He’s not very affectionate, at all. The most he’ll do is hold your hand.

Dan Heng would be a great best friend, he’s very calm and rational and blunt, always telling you how it is. You’d likely become friends because you’ve both boarded the astral express.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?) Not really…Dan Heng isn’t much of a fan of cuddling. His skin is naturally pretty cold because…Vidyadhara…but you eventually get used to it, and you’re able to cuddle him. His cuddles are stiff and awkward and cold, but they still manage to be comfortable in their own special Dan Heng way.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?) I can see Dan Heng wanting to settle down. He’s not great at cooking and cleaning, but he’s able to keep himself alive

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

Quickly and to the point, if he genuinely thinks he has to end it I think he would want to do so swiftly.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

He’s hesitant. He comes with a LOT of emotional baggage, and he’s afraid to drag you into that…so I think he’d be very hesitant to make a commitment and get married, even if he wanted to.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally)

Physically? Fairly gentle. Sometimes he squeezes your hand a little too tight, but never on purpose. Emotionally he’s not very gentle. He remains blunt, even with you, though never with the intent to hurt your feelings.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Not particularly, he’s a little bit touch averse…so he doesn’t hug you often. When he does hug you, he pats your back, and doesn’t squeeze you very hard at all.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Not very quickly, you can expect it closer to the proposal date.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

He doesn’t get jealous very quickly or often. When he does get jealous though, he finds that he usually transforms into IL, and hovers around you until the cause of his jealousy goes away.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

His kisses are Cold but very gentle. He likes to kiss you on your forehead, and he likes it when you kiss his cheek.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?)

He treats children pretty similarly to how he treats adults, typically.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?) Dan Heng wakes up very early, so if you’re willing to wake up early you may be able to spend some time with him. His mornings are spent training and reading in the archives. Join him if you’d like.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?) He’s a bit of a night owl. It takes some time before he’s ready for bed. He also spends his nights reading, and he enjoys reading with you. When he’s finally ready for bed, he reverts to his IL form, because it’s more comfortable for him to be in his true form.

He’s very hesitant to reveal his wild past to you, until he’s literally forced to, or the guilt of not telling you gets too strong.

He’s not quick to anger. In fact you can’t remember the last time you saw Dan Heng get angry…

Dan Heng remembers nearly everything about you! He can’t remember Everything, but he remembers a majority of things about you.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

His favorite moment in your relationship was when you warmly accepted him, even though he revealed himself as Imbibitor Lunae…you still loved him, even though he had been hiding such a crucial truth from you for so long…

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

Dan Heng is fairly protective of you, usually standing close with his arms crossed. He doesn’t need to be protected but if you really wanted to protect you he wouldn’t mind if you wanted to stand near him.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)

I think Dan Heng really would try, but especially when it came to anniversaries and everyday tasks.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

Straight-up just ignoring people when he doesn’t want to talk! It’s a real problem!

Not that concerned, but concerned enough to make sure he looks presentable.

Yes. He’d try to fill that void with missions for the Astral Express.

He’s thinking of cutting his hair in his Imbibitor Lunae form, he prefers it short.

YGO OC Week Day 1: Introduction!

Hi all! This is my favorite YGO blorbo, Penelope Smith! She's designed for the VRAINS setting, though there are a few instances where she gets thrown in other settings for fun.

Appearance

Penelope Smith is young woman with mostly-straight light brown hair that falls to her upper back, who stands around 5'8" in height. She can often be seen in the Den City High uniform, coupled with a pink, heart-shaped hairpin above her left eye. In addition to the uniform, she often wears white leggings that go to the lower part of her thigh. She has green eyes and almost always has a cheery expression.

She also has a VRAINS avatar, Transcendence, but details of that will come at a later day!

Personality

Penelope is helpful and excitable to a fault. She will always do her best to help out others, often to her own detriment in terms of time commitment. As a result, she is often pulled in many directions to the point of tiring herself out, but she manages to keep up a cheery demeanor all the time. Any stress that she does encounter gets bottled up, lest she show signs of weakness or cracks in her personality to others.

Her outlook could be described as "pragmatically optimistic". She is always hopeful that things will work out, but she believes things will get better because she (and others) will make them better.

If she were asked why she has that worldview and demeanor, she'd say that she wants to be the person she needed a few years ago. She needed positivity, so she brings it. She needed hope and a friend, so she brings it. She needed honesty and security, so she brings it.

Of course, the drawback to wanting to be so friendly, open, and generous is that she can often be extremely naive and manipulable. She often forgets that people can lie and is very easy to take advantage of; she often gives the benefit of the doubt to others when she really shouldn't.

Her name, Penelope, was chosen because she was reforging herself. She kept her prior last name. (Out of character, that was chosen because she's a machine user.)

Biography

Penelope was born [REDACTED] to loving parents. She partook in many standard activities for her age, and her father helped to instill in her a love of robotics. He also taught her how to play Duel Monsters.

However, when she transitioned near the start of puberty, she was the subject of much bullying, and many of her friends turned on her. Conveniently, around the same time, her family had to move away, so she never really got to have closure on her former friends would have treated her; her new classmates only knew her as Penelope.

She spent the next several years of her life in Den City, continuing her research and schooling. She remained near the top of her class academically.

During the events of VRAINS, she wanted to help, but didn't know how, and was risk-averse enough to avoid being caught in the crossfire of many of the incidents.

Deck

Penelope uses a Crystron deck. The cards allow her to adapt to the situation as needed, keeping herself flexible, while also being defensive.

She has a deep appreciation for Crystron Citree and sees it as a parallel to herself; she likes to find people who are in their darkest hour and drag them out to become something better than they ever were.

(There are also other canons of her which have used other decks, including Machina, Geargia, and the custom archetype of Reclamatron, but they aren't relevant here.)

I had to sleep on it and I have calmed down a bit. Till The End Of The Moon hooked me from the very first episode which is very rare. Even my favourites took a while, The Untamed took 21 episodes for me to get really into it. Love Between Fairy and Devil took around 18-20 episode mark for me to care. I really loved them afterwards!

You are probably wondering, what does the GIF above have to do with what I have to say. Well, it’s simply there to remind me why I love this drama because I still do but I am heartbroken about how the ending was handled. My thoughts are everywhere, so, I’m sorry if it’s incoherent.

The takeaway from this drama is tribulation, one after the other. Just suffering, suffering, more suffering, and martyring yourself to an ungratelful populace in every realm and only acknowledged by a handful. Yes, a handful, or maybe the Yiyue Tribe would add to that number but, we don’t know because Nian Baiyu was just flung into the Barren Abyss never to be heard from again. *sigh* Apologies, I’m being bitter. Li Susu probably told everyone and got the sects in line.

If they were going for a sad ending, then what was that?! If an open ending, again, what was that?! And then a happy ending audio was thrown in to the mix! The indecisiveness was breathtaking, it simply makes you seethe! Pick one, commit to it and do it well! They were trying to please everyone and utterly missing the target.

Those who love this kind of Xianxia with very dark themes (for cdramas, I think this is dark) mostly are not averse to sad endings. Sometimes it’s even expected. Great sad endings leaves you sobbing, heartbroken, and melancholic. That’s the beauty of it, it makes it memorable! If it’s a happy ending, fantastic! Everyone loves a happy ending. Great open endings make you think, not angry!!! however, I find that open endings are generally just ok (with exceptions), but thats ok too! The tragic thing about all this is the source material already had a sad ending, if a sad ending was what they were aiming for, and the epilogue of the novel provided a happy ending, if a happy ending was what they intended to do! They did not even have to think of an alternative because it was already there! And yet... *sighs*

Some mutuals decided to end watching at episode 35. They are happy that they did it and I am happy for them. But if I was to recommend this cdrama, I can’t really say that they should end at that episode because subsequent episodes brought us

Shifu and Cang Jiumin scenes which was beautiful, I was sobbing.

Li Susu thinking that TTJ was dead and was trying her hardest to fight and kill her awful bio dad and failing miserably

TTJ saving her and killing Di Mian, extremely satisfying!!!

The relief in her face seeing him alive only to realize that he had the intention of becoming the Devil God. The scream alone is worth watching!

When he took out the soul extinguishing spikes from his heart to convince her that he indeed has become the Devil God. The sorrow in her eyes.

I’m sure theres a bit more

and of course, the later part of episode 39... the Ye mansion scene. The sadness and longing. Somehow missing each other so much while they are in each others arms. So bittersweet.

Having read the novel, I knew from the few chapters in that they have deviated from it so much. I thought, ok, at least we are getting 2 stories out of it. Its just that precious screentime was used on characters that I thought was irrelevant to the overall story. Mo Nv could have been taken out completely and it would not have mattered to the story at all. They could still made Gonye Jiwu a jealous, vindictive, and bitter (ex) without her. Li Susu and Tantai Jin meeting with Ye Qingyu in JIng Kingdom was cut out instead. I saw some stills, so they did film it. It would have been better story showing on how the emperor can be the same emperor for the last 500 years.

I still have a lot in my mind but this is getting too long. Anyway, I now have 2 new favourite actors, so there is that.

I think a lot about Chiyoh’s arc, and how it aligns with the broader topics season 3 is touching on wrt justice, prisons, and moral responsibility.

Because what’s so striking to me is how unapologetically ruthless she is in her handling of the prisoner, in a way that even Will calls her on:

Chiyoh: He wants you to look at him, speak to him. But you’re not going to. Will: You’ve cast aside the social graces normally afforded to human beings. Chiyoh: He’s cast them aside. All he’s allowed is the sound of water. It’s what the unborn hear. It’s their last memory of peace. Will: You’re keeping him like an animal. Chiyoh: I wouldn’t do this to an animal.

The kind of solitary confinement she subjects him to is, effectively, torture. And yet she feels so strongly about murder! Her self-defense murder of the prisoner and its immediate aftermath marks the only time when she’s truly emotionally rattled, and everything about the situation suggests that not killing is a very stringent moral standard she’s held herself to. And no matter how wearying the prolonged imprisonment is to her, it’s not one that she has a moral objection to - she believes it’s justified by the severity of the prisoner’s crimes. (It’s questionable whether she considers her treatment of the prisoner to be violence, but if she did, she’d certainly term it “necessary violence”.)

(There is something similar to consider about the random mooks she shoots to ensure Hannibal and Will’s escape in Digestivo - is this “necessary” violence to her? Apparently, but if so, she considers protecting the man she considers to be family something for which it is worth taking lives. And the fact that those murders are far-off sniper shots suggests that perhaps she is averse to violence when it’s up-close, personal, and bloody, but is still willing to enact it when she can distance herself somewhat from its effects.)

All of that is to say - I am convinced that Chiyoh’s insistence that she only commits violence when it’s necessary, and her repeated disavowal that she is anything like Will, despite having actively undertaken vigilante justice, is pretty hypocritical on her part! I don’t say that to demonize her - the jumble of contradictory ethical principles is one of the aspects of her that I find fascinating to crack open despite her limited screen time, and Will himself by season 3 (and almost certainly post-canon) is also pretty capable of hypocrisy. And of course she’s not entirely like Will. She doesn’t seem to take much righteous satisfaction or sadistic pleasure in her handling of the prisoner - her line that “we have been each others’ prisoner” suggests that the situation wears on her just as much as him. But it is pretty clear to me that there are truths about herself, and her capacity for violence, that she is pointedly refusing to acknowledge, and that she’s clinging to some pretty narrowly defined moral principles so as to preserve her self-concept.

And I think the question that that arc involving Chiyoh invites us to ask - whether the bare life conditions she subjected her prisoner to really were all that morally superior to murder - constitutes one potential thread between 3A and 3B. Because what it brings to mind for me is Hannibal’s line to Alana in WOTL: “Any rational society would either kill me, or give me my books.”

And like many of Hannibal’s statements… it makes a twisted kind of sense.

To be clear, I absolutely do not think NBC Hannibal is trying to articulate a thematic statement against carceral justice - it’s too apolitical a show to bear that kind of weight. (And it’s certainly not interested in rehabilitation, either). But it is a show that is very interested in how our moral beliefs as well as our darker urges and fascinations define our selfhood, and the kind of moral doublethink we all engage in. And that kind of thematic backdrop does appropriately pair with the show’s general slant towards murder as not even necessarily more ethical than imprisonment, but more honest. As something that constitutes truly owning our moral judgments, feeling for ourselves the full weight and impact of delivering them.

Alana being the recipient of that line from Hannibal - and her overall role as his jailor - also has a certain kind of irony, given that she herself has to learn this lesson in 3A. She and Margot, as per their dialogue in Dolce, intend to have Mason arrested. But when that plan goes awry and they can’t rely on FBI intervention, Alana ends up having to pay the price of getting involved with Mason by getting her hands dirty. Notably, in the cases of both Alana and Chiyoh, Will has a hand in pushing them both towards murder (and in the case of Alana, Hannibal also plays a role in that - an interesting example of the aligned-but-divergent ways Will and Hannibal might exert influence on others post-canon). The situations are somewhat different in that Chiyoh has shouldered more personal responsibility in taking on the role as jailor, rather than ceding that authority to institutional higher powers. But her situation does still overlap significantly with Alana helping Margot murder Mason, in that the result Will engineers from her feels geared to force her to face what she’s taken on, to get up close and personal and really see.

(And of course, both murders bring some sort of freedom or moral catharsis, along with an intense self-recognition that can’t be found through the complacency of more socially acceptable forms of justice.)

Furthermore, in 3B, Will himself is engaged in a similar kind of thought process. In his conversation with Walter, he’s pretty firm on not killing Dolarhyde, and sending him to a mental hospital instead. And given Will’s arc at this point in the show, it’s pretty intuitive that this intention is a product of Will not wanting to be the kind of person who kills - an intention that is arguably also present for both Alana and Chiyoh. All three do have genuine ethical objections to murder as well, of course - I can pretty easily formulate all of them feeling that fewer people dying is an optimal outcome. But their personal conceptions of themselves are certainly also a factor in their disavowal of murder.

But the culmination of the Red Dragon arc, in which Will and Hannibal jointly kill Dolarhyde, is clearly much more preferable end for Dolarhyde. The way it’s cinematically rendered, with the blood fanning out in the shape of wings, suggests that murder constituted his ultimate transformation, in which his true sense of himself was fully realized. Although defeated, undergoing change to fuel our main characters’ radiance is a much more poetically resonant and satisfying ending, and it’s hard to imagine any other way he’d rather lose. Aesthetics > ethics.

Of course, in real life, I don’t believe that killing people - even genuinely bad people who’ve caused serious harm - is a remotely acceptable ethical solution. But within the world of Hannibal, a world in which the killers conceive of themselves in terms of artistic vision, for whom psychiatric language and its corrective purpose is nowhere near sufficient - by the internal moral logic of that universe, murder is often more merciful, and displays much more genuine understanding and empathy.

All of this is to say, I think Chiyoh’s arc can be figured within these broader themes in season 3. And the lesson she learned from Hannibal - and by extension, Will - from her intervention with justice is much the same as the lesson that Bedelia learned from Hannibal: that observing and participating are the same. Taking on the responsibility of enacting justice, in the world of Hannibal, requires becoming the executioner.

1. Choi Seungcheol as Lee Young-Joon in What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim

The strong male character with childhood trauma who doesn’t know what to do with his feelings once he realises the love of his life, whom he had never confessed to, is leaving him screams Seungcheol to me. He’s awkward with his feelings, reacts poorly when hearing the news, is a true leader who silently burdens not only his trauma, but also his brother’s.

2. Yoon Jeonghan as Park Chang-ho in Big Mouth

I think, of all the people in the world who can deceive a prison full of inmates that they’re a criminal mastermind and you shouldn’t mess with them, no one else would compare to Jeonghan. The professional lawyer, who is framed and sent to prison, is a good person at heart, and helps other suppressed inmates and leads a revolution. Jeonghan is particularly quick to think on his feet, which matches the character’s energy.

3. Hong Joshua as Kang Tae- Moo in Business Proposal

A cold CEO who is super averse to dating and and is busy running his business meets and instantly falls in love with a girl who is posing as her friend on this blind date to get rid of him. He is devoted to his family, his passion for his company’s food products is only matched by our heroine. He’s a great cook and is also kind of nosy in his little brother’s love life.

4. Wen Junhui as An Min-Hyuk in Strong Girl Bong Soon

The cute, funny gaming company CEO who hires our Bong Soon as a bodyguard just screams Jun to me, both because of his passion for games and gaming development but also for his endearingly cute and shy demeanour and the sense of humour. Plus actor Jun deserves a fun, cool and handsome role like this, considering we might never get to see his c drama :((

5. Kwon Soonyoung as Jung Joon-hyung in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo

Ok so this is the latest drama I’ve watched and Joonhyung’s passion and commitment for swimming instantly reminded me of Hoshi and his passion for dance. A bonus factor is the fact that after seeing In the Soop S2, I can confirm his….ahem…abdominal area can easily pass for a swimmer’s.

6. Jeon Wonwoo as Cha Sung-hoon in Business Proposal

Yeah I don’t think I need to explain this.

7. Lee Jihoon as Wi Seung-Huen in Rookie Cops

I’m sorry but Woozi as a trainee cop along with an initial e2f2l storyline???? Sign me uppppppp… Plus, this character is like the ace trainee along with having daddy issues and a strong sense of morality that builds over time. Just writing this is making me crave a Woozi remake of this show.

8. Xu Minghao as Myul Mang in Doom at Your Service

Minghao, I think, is the best person in the world who can bring doom to the world while looking fucking stylish and having an angsty emo personality. Fuck the humans, what even do they have. Xu minghao is literally here to end us all. Plus the later developments in the show and the emotions this characters develops….I’ll cry watching if Minghao was Myul Mang. Also, I feel like Minghao is the most supernaturally member in Svt- you know the one who is into Tarot cards and palm readings.

9. Kim Mingyu as Ji U-Min in The Fabulous

Ngl, the Going Magazine episode was a big factor while giving Mingyu this character. This super talented fashion and street photographer, who sometimes struggles to find his aim and is stuck in the friend zone after breaking up with the female lead is such Gyu vibe honestly. This man is so supportive, encouraging…and might I say relentless?

10. Lee Seokmin as Baek Hee- Sung in Flower of Evil

The beauty of Dark! Seokmin is something to behold, a fantasy I will never give up on. A bright, perfect husband in every sense of the way on the surface with a dark past and even darker present….. is….so…..hot. And his wife is a police officer? Yup yup add it to the drama. Mars’ serial killer DK fic has arisen a fantasy in me that i don’t think is going away anytime soon. Plus I’m a sucker for complicated, grey characters whose layers are revealed slowly as the series progresses. He’s almost an anti- hero here.

11. Boo Seungkwan as Lee Seung-cheon in The Golden Spoon

Another grey character, probably the most complicated character on this list. I think, for me, our Boo is also the most emotionally complex and mature guy in seventeen so I think this character really suits him. Our lead guy, is born into poverty but changes his luck, along with his family’s, by switching lives with the richest guy in his school. Complications, along with consequences, haunt him.

12. Chwe Hansol as Goo Chang-seong in Hotel Del Luna

I’m sorry but Vernon as this character??? In great looking suits and constantly in service of ghosts to help them finish their last wishes and peacefully transition to afterlife along with having… probably the most emotional love story ever…..yeah I need a minute, or a week.

13. Lee Chan as Kim Do-ki in Taxi Driver

Taxi driver is probably my favourite kdrama till date. And Dino as the sexy vigilante who takes revenge for people who the system can’t help is such a sexy concept. Action hero Dino to the rescue! Plus the main character plays so many roles undercover and is so hilarious at times that Dino will fit perfectly in this character’s shoes.
