so, inspired by the warm welcome the captain received with that rough doodle i posted, i made an updated design for Ki'ita as well (basic and with clothes)

i removed the piercings she had bc considering that they spend the majority of their time in arctic waters i think having metal directly in your skin is a bad idea, no matter how thick your blubber is; i also gave her typical white markings a green hue bc ... i liked how it looked and makes them stand out a little more

(i will not repeat what i wrote on the post about the captain but wanted to add a bit of more info about Ki'ita herself)

(i dont have ALL of their backstory done yet but) the captain and Ki'ita worked together in another organization, one in which the father of the captains child also worked at, before being betrayed and barely managing to escape, after which the both of them founded their pirate crew (possible name is the Solar Pirates bc of their solar powered boat stuff); since the captain had her daughter shortly afterwards Ki'ita managed most of the organisational matters at first, including the construction of their base on an abandoned island they had initially fled to

over the years they invented the solar powered ships that allowed them to gain control over a large part of an important trade route, leaving normal ships (mostly) alone but attacking those of hunters and similar, rescuing demons and mutants, even some humans from them, most of which also join the crew and it quickly lead to them becoming their own little community

Ki'ita does not like to spend alot of time among large groups of people, no matter how much she cares about them, and her originally being from norther lands gave her the idea to explore, and if viable, do underground missions in those norther areas to disrupt the infrastructure the hunters had built in recent years and overall keep the crew informed about things that may otherwise stay hidden; with each of their travels her time absent from the base increased but the patience of the captain is wearing thin so its likely a serious talk is underway on Ki'itas third solo mission she nearly died due to entanglement in abandoned nets made by hunters from an unknown material that she could not break, the massive scars on her tail especially come from that, only surviving bc the date they were supposed to return to the crew had passed and the captain grew to worried about her and made the entire crew rush into an emergency search, including the captain herself and her toddler, who were not suited for the cold climate just like the rest of crew, taking a huge risk that Ki'ita still feels ashamed of for causing; they stayed within the base for a whole year afterwards, not just to recover but also as a silent apology, taking time preparing herself to ensure theyd not get into a situation like that again

(before departing on their next mission the captain gifted her a sword with the blade made from the material of the net, a wooden handle, bc of the cold, and a blue wrap around it reminiscent of the captains striking blue teeth; a reminder of what had happened, a means to defend herself when their strength and teeth are not enough, and also a promise to always return again)

the oldest members of the crew know Ki'ita well and treat her like an old friend, among the newer members she has more of a .. cryptic status, the mysteriously absent vice-captain who only appears every few months or so out of thin air, throws a big party, sleeps for a few days and then vanishes again, the only hint to when they will return soon again being the captain getting noticably grumpier

Ooo here’s an interesting thought for you. So you know how, in the interspecies romance, you mentioned how Jade and Floyd would still kinda ‘bully’ a potential partner? Can you imagine if that person were an overthinking type? Like the ‘mean’ interactions make them think that either of the tweels just do NOT like them.

Basically misunderstandings abound.

Floyd gifts them a tooth; are they next?? Jade gives a poisonous (but pretty/rare) mushroom; is this a threat??

Could also just be a person who has a difficult time interpreting social cues, or flirting.

But either way, the poor object of their interest starts avoiding them and is so confused by the mixed signals. So they go up to Azul or something and ask if they’ve made the respective tweel angry or something. Because they thought they were getting along???

As someone whose autism severely impacted their understanding of social norms, I feel this on a deeply spiritual level. In the partner's defense, the twins are just generally intimidating and take delight in scaring their peers. They say the most out of pocket shit and it's hard to tell when they're being serious or joking (they also have a tad bit of the tism). Poor Azul would be so tired of having to deal with a potential eel mate asking him to call off his right/left-hand men, they don't have a contract with him anymore, so why are they threatening them with loose teeth and poisonous mushrooms?? Azul!! Make them stop!!!

(He briefly considers staying out of it. It would do them some good to suffer through their pining until they have the common sense to look up human dating and woo methods. But they are his friends that he actually cares quite deeply for his employees whose moods are affecting productivity, so he'll explain it to you, and then go give them a good wack in the head for being stupid.)

Floyd is the more likely of the two to not look up human courting and dating methods. He's more of the kind of guy that's hoping you will get what he means by vibe alone. Like that manifesting stuff Cater goes on about. You'll have to be particularly perceptive to notice that he squeezes you a bit softer, looks at you with hearts in his eyes a bit longer than more, and notice that he slips up and calls you by your name instead of Shrimpy; he's surprisingly subtle with his growing affections. Jade would have definitely research ahead of time, plus he's very perceptive of others and their emotions around him. He'll probably be able to tell that you're not getting his advances, but on the other hand, it would be so funny to see how long it takes for you to catch on. He'll make fun of you in the future on how you “strung along a poor eel's heart, waaahhhh!” while he pined after you with foraged and handmade gifts, classic merfolk courting! That, or you accidentally start dating/a friends-with-benefits situation, both of you misunderstanding the other's intentions. It would take some incredible denseness and misunderstanding on both your parts for that to happen, which is a lot easier than you think when it comes to Jade “Keep them Guessing” Leech. Truly, a man can be too confident with regard to love, please tell him this or else you'll spend at least four months in a relationship before realizing it.

Never in your wildest dreams did you think you will be on the planet of pandora, you are a scientist on earth and had spent most of your life studying about pandora. Question about Paracelsus, does he actually like aba? I’m guessing in the older game, he mostly tolerated her because she can fight (except for the fact he deliberately chooses not to control her) but in the new one, I’m pretty much confused. When he ends his transformation, He says “That’s my answer, ABA, As your partner.” Problem is that I have no idea which meaning of “partner” he meant. It could be just fighting partners but him having a whole emotional speech and transformation for a “business partner.” If I try to look at the view of actually going for ABA’s dreams for marriage, it feels incomplete and odd because she is slowly transforming him into what she sees fit. Please I really want to know what he meant!

Side note: ABA’s feelings of jealousy and abandonment are completely valid as Paracelsus has done that! To her face! WITH A RANDOM STRANGER TO HER!!! In night of knives volume 2.

Life partner, since Paracelsus no longer really wants to fight on principle, so 'fighting partner' like he used to regard A.B.A as and originally hoped she would regard him as, that's out of the window. So if he's still resolving to stay with her, it's as a life partner. The extent of what that means to him is prolly different from A.B.A, but that can evolve over time.

Because Paracelsus, as he has stated, is an axe. He understands relationships in axe terms, which is he acknowledges his wielder (which he did acknowledge A.B.A as at the end of Night of Knives) and he kills other people that threaten them. His whole situation-ship with A.B.A has forced him to be involved in roles he was never equipped to deal with and was forced to adapt to - being an emotional support, being an actual object of attraction, having to constantly protect his wielder from herself, having to be a counsel on social norms that he shouldn't know all that well to begin with as an axe but he's expected to, having to communicate on behalf of his wielder to navigate social situations and dispel conflict - quite literally none of these are on the checklist of 'being an axe that kills people real good.

Yeah he wanted to leave A.B.A in NoK, and honestly who wouldn't? From his perspective, she was hellbent on not treating him as the weapon he wanted her to treat him as. She was figuratively and literally emotion dumping on him constantly, what with the empathetic bond prolly not helping matters. And he kept trying to dispel every delusion and assumption she had about their relationship constantly. As he was being sexually harassed despite his protests and mid-battle, constantly.

But even back then, Slayer implied that Paracelsus never hated A.B.A personally, but her constant advances, the situations they got into, it was all frustrating to him when he really wanted to be 'just a weapon' back then.

We kinda skipped Paracelsus character development up till STRIVE but IMO, I think he figured out he had to be proactive with A.B.A, cause sticking with his "I'm a weapon, and only a weapon" principles wasn't helping. He accepted that he needed to be the responsible one of the two, that he had to kick his blood habit because it made him lose control and also got them into fights etc. He accepted that he had to change for the sake of A.B.A.

Thinking about marriage for them is kinda falling into the trap that A.B.A fell into IMO. Her theme hints that being bound by specific definitions of words or expectations may have prevented her and them from organically growing their relationship, whatever it can or would be.

Part of her major development is that she acknowledges she's been obsessed with the idea of love, but not actually truly understanding what it is. Her obsession with Paracelsus is more of her playing the part rather than understanding the feeling. Part of her growth was choosing to let go of Paracelsus for his own good, and in fact it was an expression of true love, even though she didn't realize it. Paracelsus is also learning about love and Elphelt suggested that looking out for someone is in fact a form of love, and that surprised him. He didn't seem to realize that the steps he's taken to take care of A.B.A are expressions of love themselves either.

As Paracelsus explained to A.B.A, he's not sure where their relationship will go or what the future holds for them. How their feelings will develop is still up in the air, but he tries to show A.B.A that if he could change so much, then she can too. The idea is that they're finally free to be whatever they're going to be, and they're choosing to stick together to that end, and that's the most important thing.

after he kills the last one with his hunting knife and says something in a language you guessed was na'vi he turns around and starts shouting at you two in na'vi

when you both just stare at him confused he hisses and rolls his eyes "idiotic dreamwalkers, cant even learn the language"

he grabs you both by the arms and drags you off despite both your protests

along the way tsu'tey says something about "eywa protecting you" which, again, neither of you understand

at one point you just give up and let yourself be dragged along

when you finally reach the clan tsu'tey explains the situation to eytukan and mo'at who reluctantly let yous stay

tsu'tey is told to teach you the ways of the people

when you first come out in the traditional na'vi clothes, jake just stares for a minute or two [which you tease him about]

both of you pulling at the thongs

tsu'tey smacking you on the back of the head becomes an everyday thing

you ride a pali which goes pretty well, tsu'tey says your a natural!

AN: here's a little surprise blurb i've wrote. i hope you like this concept and enjoy reading. keep in mind the harry in this isn't our famous harry so any talks of his sexuality is fake for the story. it's also kinda short but still worth the read. xoxo

As Harry watches you do your makeup for a night out, he finally shares his desire to wear makeup too when you gently coax it out of him.

You were sitting at your vanity doing your makeup while your boyfriend Harry sat on the edge of the bed watching you. You were going out to a local club tonight and wanted to dress sexy for the occasion.

When you began to apply some silver glitter over the tops of your pink eyelids, you notice Harry shifting closer to you, as if he's really studying how you apply your products. You've noticed a few times now that when you're doing your makeup around Harry, he always watches you closely and you find it quite adorable.

But this time, as you glance to the side and look at your boyfriend, he seems nervous. Fiddling with his ringed fingers and moving his mouth like he's wanting to say something but can't find the words.

"Is something wrong, H?" you question carefully.

Harry hesitates before stuttering, "Um, it's just, um. Nevermind actually."

You stop doing your makeup completely so he has your undivided attention and take a wild guess as to what he's wanting to say, or more so, ask. "Harry, by any chance did you want me to put some makeup on you? Because if you did want to wear some, that's fine."

Relief washes over him when you guess correctly. For a while now Harry's had this want to try out and wear some makeup. Not everyday or just anywhere. But to the club or a party, he would fancy a little color and sparkle to his face. He's just been afraid to ask because he was scared you'd judge him.

Nodding his head, Harry replies, "Yes please."

His answer has a soft smile take over your face. You stand up from your vanity chair and walk over until you're stood in front of Harry's legs. "Baby, why didn't you tell me you wanted to wear some makeup? I wouldn't have cared. I think you'd look fantastic with a bit of shimmer on your eyes and rouge on your cheeks."

Looking up, Harry answers sadly, "It's just, I thought you'd judge me. I know anyone can wear makeup and it's not just for girls but, I didn't know if you thought that way. I only fancy wearin' some when we go out on the towns. Not everyday or anythin'."

"That's fine, Harry," you began, "I'd never judge you for wanting to wear makeup sometimes. And you're right, makeup is not just for the girls and the gays. Anyone can wear makeup if they want, okay."

Giggling, Harry says back, "Okay, but I am a little gay aren't I...."

You can't help but giggle back at his words. What he means is that his sexuality is fluid and he told you early on in your relationship that he wasn't straight. Harry was equally as nervous to disclose his sexaulity to you as he was minutes ago, admitting he would like to wear some makeup. But you knew him wanting to wear makeup had nothing to do with his sexuality. Unlike what stereotypes have you believe.

"Alright, go sit on my vanity chair and pick out what color of eyeshadow you want to wear. And pick out a glitter if you want a touch of that as well." Harry listens to your instructions and picks out the colors and shimmers he'd enjoy wearing tonight.

He chose a bright blue for his lids because he said it would pair well with his outfit. Then requested just a small dusting of your silver glitter to complement the blue shadow. You stood in front of Harry and he relaxed as you took your brushes and did your magic.

To pull this look together, you add a little mascara and some coal liner in his waterline. Then apply a clear lip gloss over his perfectly shaped lips. Harry struggled a bit when you applied the mascara, saying it felt like you were poking his eye out. And when you were finished, he kept blinking, not quit use to having eye makeup on.

"Okay, all done." you announce with a clap. "Did you want anything on your face like foundation or concealer or just this for now?"

Harry studies his face in the mirror ahead and decides, "This is all f'now. Wow, do I look stunnin'. Thank you, m'love. And thank you for not judgin' me."

Looking down at his face slightly, you reply, "Of course, H. I'd never judge you. You can wear all the makeup you want. Or if you ever fancy wearing a dress or heels, I'd never judge you for that either."

Smiling, Harry responds, "Only time I've ever had the desire to wear a dress and heels is maybe for a Halloween costume. But if that changes, I'll let you know."

Lilith conjunct Mercury // Synastry - I saw this turn out where the Lilith person feels really comfortable conversing about taboo topics they may be into with the Mercury person. The Mercury person seems to bring out the Liliths need to express this raw energy through communication which can bring in some interesting topics over time

Air placements/doms - From my personal studies they may seem the most likely to not commit as easily when it comes to relationships. Not stating they can't commit at all, as their are plenty of these placements that are in deep connections and have been. Their airy nature of 'blowing with the wind' vibes kinda keeps them astride. Although quite the intellects when it comes to socializing, these placements each hold unique aspects from one another that can make it more of a struggle when it comes to the topic at hand. Aquarius holds some detatched qualities in general from what I've seen, Gemini can be kind of 'on the go' and may take longer to settle down, and Libra (ironically ruling the 7th house of relationships and even commitment itself) can have trouble making big decisions and may wonder off to experience a variety of relationships (soaking in their relationship knowledge). Random tips: I've noticed keeping a Gemini guessing or curious can really intrigue them, often boredom can be a root cause of some of these placements farewells, make sure to keep their mind stimulated :) Aquarius, although sociable, also enjoy their space. Giving them an enjoyable balance of freedom and playtime can bring them closer. Similar morals and having an open mind in general can be a big booster! ^^ When it come to Libra, try a romantic approach! (I've seen some like cheesy romance too) If it isn't really how you roll then devoting noticeable effort into trying to make the relationship work may impress them. Lilith conjunction Venus // Synastry - Generally Venus person ends up falling for Lilith persons darker qualities. Even if the Venus sign is more lighthearted and generally not into the more raw and dark energy. The Venus person can be captivated by the Lilith persons appearance as well as their rebellious nature on the norms. Lilith can be pretty laid back or supportive about traditions and 'do what you want' depending on the chart and Venus may enjoy the independent vibe from the Lilith, it can offer freedom in the relationship platonic or not. Lilith person may be more defensive or closed off if they notice Venus person wanting to take the relationship to the next level too quickly, even if the Lilith person likes Venus person, they may be a tad guarded and not like the idea of being tied down. However this is also why Venus is fascinated by Lilith, Lilith can seem unattainable at times. Often since Lilith is very raw, pretty or not, about its placement in a chart, this can show Venus person revealing any trauma or deep things that they may not share with anyone else, the Lilith person may make them more comfortable to dig deeper within. Venus may teach Lilith person self love and help the other person embrace these things rather than be insecure or secretive about them. Lilith may find Venus person as cute or charming, especially if the Lilith persons chart supports it. Lilith can be quite in love with the Venus person's traits of the house Venus sits in. Venus holds the beautiful rose while Lilith paints the rose a bold black. This relationship can make you do a double take. Lilith as we all know, is untraditional as well, a black sheep at times, this relationship can be considered societally unconventional in some way whether it's through style, social class, personality opposition, age gap, race/culture, boss + worker or professor + student, there's always something that will make the 2 of these people differ

Libra Moon - Super fair people. Generally honest from what I've seen. May be biased or have a particular judgment on different topics but that's just normal for all people. Either way they are wonderful at debates (unless other aspects prove otherwise). They can hold up their end of the debate quite well too. Quite open to other perspectives, even if they don't change their opinion on something

Libra/Venus placements - I've always heard that physically they are all symmetrical, which is quite true but I've also seen if Venus is in harsh aspects with Saturn it can cause some possible asymmetrical occurrences within the bone structure. Wherever Venus is placed may give a heads up but Saturns placement may also count for a few :)

Venus // Attraction - A lot of us know that the sign your venus is in can be attractive. Virgo venus's can find Virgo ascendant physically attractive just as cancer venus's can find themselves captivated by a cancer sun. However besides the Venus's sign, looking at other planets or asteroids that are similar in some way to your venus can also be seen as intriguing. Like my scorpio venus, I've also been attracted to people with lilith dominant in their chart. A leo venus may find someone with asteroid Apollo conjunct their ascendant as pretty too :)

Aries 6th house - So far from what I've seen, I've had coworkers that were very honest, hardworking and no BS on how they do the job. They weren't overall serious, like they were very laid back and down-to-earth people when the time was right. Some had a sailors mouth. Very strong and resilient coworkers I've had (mainly emotionally but can be physical too). Personally, check where your mars is placed for any extra info. In my case it only had a small effect but for others it can vary! :)

Gemini Venus + Scorpio Venus - In romantic relationships is such a nice aspect. This may seem very odd as these 2 signs may differ often when it comes to prefered styles and even personal interests (unless other aspects prove otherwise) however, they literally feed off of each other. This couple is the type to not get bored (If one does then it may be Gemini) but it's quite unlikely due to Scorpios black veil and Geminis expansive knowledge (Their curiosity helps them to keep learning more about one another). Both venus signs are intrigued by the depths of the mind. Both tilting their head curiously on how the other person works or why they do what they do. Scorpio is more likely to quietly observe whilst Gemini may feel more inclined to ask. These 2 will try to find out random info about the other and can enjoy talking about complex topics. Intellectual talks and psychologically analyzing each other is what this couple does. Gemini will be drawn in by Scorpios enigmatic nature and will want to know more, wheras Scorpio, already being the type to study and observe people they like, will equally be just as thrilled, as they can enjoy Geminis intellect. This couple reminds me of sapiosexuality. Their is also a carefree and silly touch to these two, contrary to Scorpios influence, the Scorpio venus may open up greatly around the Gemini venus with some time. Gemini is more likely to make the first move and start small talk of some sort (unless the Scorpio venus has opposition with more open aspects/planet placements). I will say a major difference between these 2 is scorpios 'ride or die' loyalty and geminis 'fly with the wind'. In other words, they both have different pulls towards love, scorpio is intense while gemini is carefree. But with every venus synastry that works well, there can be a strong bond :)

Saturn in 3rd House // Juno Persona Chart - I've seen this in the JPC of someone married and their spouse would communicate in a more serious or authoritative tone. Although this isn't for everyone (especially if Saturn is nicely aspected in usually in good tides within your natal and/or JPC) it can also introduce serious conversations or friction in communication. Communication may slowly get better once these two take time to understand each other. Sometimes this can also show two people talking about work often. They may come home from work and instantly gossip about it or etc xD. Wherever Saturn is placed may give some frequent conversation topics that may start up with the spouse. May not have as many neighbors, neighbors may be older or conventional, may not be as close with neighbors as some others may be. Sometimes communication may also feel limited, this may be due to language barrier or even just differing personalities between both counterparts. Connection between both people's siblings may be restricted (I've seen it happen but this is def not for everyone)

Jupiter in the 3rd // Juno Persona Chart - I've seen this create a diverse range of topics between the married couples conversations. They will be on one topic about the meaning of life and then move onto whether or not cereal is a soup. This is the couple that will have 'tea time' frequently. Talking about anything and everything. It can be difficult to peel these 2 off of one another when they get deep into a subject. Can have conversations based on intellectual pursuits as well as religion based themes. Both may go on frequent short trips, whether it be walks in the park, grocery shopping, restaurants, etc. Local peeps. Could have a lot of neighbors and/or a good relationship with them. Can hang out with each other's siblings often or one of them has more than 1 sibling (haven't seen this aspect play out but could def be a factor). These two will eventually know each other very well, possibly even more-so than there families if this is the right relationship

Moon in the 3rd // Juno Persona Chart - The planet of emotions and our inner selves in the house of communication introduces topics of healing as well as passion depending on the subject. A married couple may have many deep conversations laced with comfort and understanding. The person you marry may also take on a more caring and emotional nature when talking to you, just like an ideal mother would when being patient with their child. This can be in a passionate and energetic way if opposition or conjunct mars, or even a more sweet and sensual way if doing the same with venus. I've seen if Saturn conjuncts moon in this house then it can kinda lead to restricted feelings regarding conversations, like the person you marry may be more closed off on such topics as well as expression. Moon in this house can show conversations where both express their emotion greatly, whether it be in serious or silly ways depends on the chart and people involved. Wonderful placement regarding neighbors if in good aspects

NN/North Node in the 2nd/Taurus - Massive themes of finding ones self worth. Struggling with oneself through insecurities. This can be due to physicality, financial income, intellectual value and even purpose. Some with this placement may also learn that material items don't determine ones value (Ex: a phase where you think being trendy will help you fit in and be worthy/cool in other people's eyes). Since Taurus/2nd house can also rule the throat and voice, this aspect can show a need to speak up rather than be walked on like a rug (Like the song "Speechless" from that one girl who played in Aladdin) Learning to balance your boundaries will be significant. In early years these people can live off of other people's view on them or can easily have a hard time saying 'no'. Possibly bullied at one point since this group is learning about healthy boundaries (like stated before :) This group of lads/gals can be indulgent as well. In vedic NN becomes Rahu and Rahu can be what id describe as... Greedy? Wanting more and more of something xd. This placement may enjoy the satisfactory of food and shopping when they get the chance

NN/North Node in the 4th/Cancer - This placement can show a person who is protective as well as a homebody. I've seen this create people who long to one day create a stable/beautiful home or family. Generally we have a group of individuals who are learning to seek peace and comfort through who they deem as family. Sure, family can be family by blood, but this aspect takes it to another level. Sometimes you will find out that certain people through a biological lense may not actually be the 'family' you thought they were. Sometimes you will find that others in life earn a space in your heart to be called family, such as friends/coworkers/lovers/etc. Your job is to find them. Your job is to also find out what brings comfort into your environment. How does one bring a family together closer? What is my lineage and how do I get in touch with my roots of the tree? I've heard this placement can create a deep connection with the mother however I've seen just the opposite before too so within different charts it can vary. NN/North Node in the 7th/Libra - Since the NN represents where we're headed (and even our purpose in this lifetime) this placement in the 7th doesn't have to just indicate diving into platonic or business connections for the most part. I've observed that a purpose for this individual can be to get married or create a committed romantic/sexual union. Marriage may be super important in changing things in your life once it comes. Travelling with people may also prove important. This placement can also talk about having a purpose revolved around learning how to commit to things in general. A lot of people with this placement may find it hard to stay tied down to a relationship for too long or even circumstances. I've seen people struggle to finish projects and general activities thoroughly. Trine aspects to the MC - I've noticed represents what people like about you. If the general public would describe you, the planet/asteroid at play has those traits sometimes mentioned. Ex: Jupiter can make someone appear optimistic or at least open minded. The public can like this person for their intellect and morals. Depending on the chart, this person can also be known for their culture and travels. They can also have an expansive or big quality about them that stands out. Uranus (I have this in my astroblog chart) and I've been known for my blogs odd aesthetic and eccentric nature. A few people have described it as "unique" which adds to Uranus's alien vibe ig 😂 in other circumstances it can also talk about the public liking the persons circle of friends or even their technological abilities (depends on the chart). This can also describe someone who stands out or has a good approach to public justice and humanitarian related topics

Quintile aspects to the MC - Can be a noticable quirk to you. Something about the planet/asteroid shows potential and can grow with time. May be something people notice as they observe you more often. Ex: Mercury could come off as witty or knowing a lot about a particular subject. May have a talent at keeping a conversation aflame. Venus can have something such as their ability to decorate or even their fashion skills to be pleasant. Maybe they have a charming impression on people, etc :)

Opposition aspects to the MC - Can show what immediately comes off of your energy, whether it's subconsciously or not it can often always be in the air. Like an underlying scent of someone's perfume. You may not be able to see it, but you can smell it. Ex: Mars can have an air of Independence. They can tend to have a leaderlike vibe or someone who can steer the boat. The public can find this person to also be charming in general. People may sense their more go-getter energy and may find it exciting at times. Neptune on the other hand can have an air of mystery. The general public may not understand too much about them and can easily find themselves confused. As if the person lives a private life outside of what they show. The person can have a detatched vibe which can make them seem like an introvert even if their chart proves the opposite

Square aspects to the MC - This shows where clash can come into play, especially with the wrong crowd/people. This planets/asteroids qualities are noticeable (ofc) but can stir the pot and cause misunderstanding. Pay attention to the house where the planet sits as well as how it interacts with your chart. It will make it easier to find out. (A Leo sun conjunct ascendant squaring the MC may come off as too flashy/direct/boastful/overconfident/people may get jealous of their ability to shine) Examples include but or not limited to: Venus - Can attract unnecessary attention or creeps, people may think you're a people pleaser/over-indulgent/flirtatious or a player, people can get jealous of your physical appearance/balance + control/easygoing personality. Mercury - People may think you're a know-it-all/too talkative/too quiet (depending on the house mercury sits). People may not like your communication style at times either or find it odd. People may gossip about you or at worst, start rumors. They can also misunderstand you or misinterpret your words. Saturn - Authority figures may try to dominate you (bosses may be difficult or stressful to deal with, maybe even asking too much of you). Career might grow slowly or feel restricted. You may be seen by the public as serious/strict even if you aren't (rbf is a small example lmao). People may want to out-better you sometimes in your occupation. ETC

Mars Trine Lilith - Can be a great role model for others when it comes to motivating people to follow their passions and embrace their rebellious side. You don't try to over dominate others in order to feel powerful, instead your ride your own stride. If people attempt to question your choices in life you may feel more inclined to listen, and even if you don't agree you can tell them that with ease and move on. Often this placement can show a wonderful relationship with the sexual nature and expression. These people embrace their rawness or authenticity as well, and don't feel the need to over express this uniqueness, they may effortlessly attract people

Mars square Lilith - This can feel kinda tense for this person as well as the people around them. Although great people when it comes to embracing their more primal nature just as a trine aspect also would, they can be quite defensive too. If someone questions your choices and rebellious qualities, you may feel that they are trying to overpower you in some way. Maybe that they are judging you or trying to get you to change. You can feel inclined to control the situation, you can feel restricted and will want to take action to stop this immediately. Depending on the Mars, their actions can differ. A more dominating Mars can act impulsively and question someone else on their choices (as a way to stand up for themselves) or even change their tone, a more reclusive Mars may try and change the subject or glare (if irritated), someone can possibly get anxious even. Not always, but a lot of times this isn't on purpose, as it's just their Lilith trying to protect their passions and actions. It would be best to understand why these individuals do this, as there's always a reason for some kind of learned trait. Maybe they were over-dominated in youth or maybe they were commonly ridiculed for their choices in creative expression or freedom. They just need some healing and to find a healthy balance with their vulnerability towards criticism

Mercury/Venus conjunct ascendant or in 1st house - I've commonly found in people who age slower physically. Venus can add some puffiness/slight fat stores to the cheeks of the face as well as create a softer complexion with balanced fat in the body. Mercury is similar in replicating this and can keep the skin complexion healthy

Sun in the 4th - I've seen show someone who was close to their father figure more so than the mother. Doesn't have to be biological either, just anyone playing the masculine figure within the home. People with this can also be important in the household (even if others around them or in the family don't see it, their role can be quite significant. Their sun shines in the 4th after all) I saw someone with this who had a load of responsibilities that although, are a big deal and changed a lot, generally went unnoticed. VBS event teaser commentary

Sorry for not doing this last month. Again. Yeah I know I'm doing it just before the actual preview drops who even cares.

As per the norm, the teaser is just based on the jacket art so there's not a whole lot we can learn there. We know that cards are sometimes based on the song though, so maybe we can guess something there. Personally this gives me a retro nightclub sort of feel, and I'm kinda surprised they haven't done something like that with VBS yet, doubly so when you consider the Gekkou teaser had a very retro feel (I'm grasping at straws atp I've wanted this for two years lol).

Okay, so actual plot predictions time. I reckon this will be another POU or LUTF situation where the event focuses somewhat heavily on a side character. Ah, well, less so "I reckon" and more "Break Down the Wall foreshadows that this event will focus quite a bit on Arata and Souma". Based on bdtw, I think the event is going to focus on two things which heavily overlap with Toya's arc: Toya's feelings towards music, and getting Arata to rejoin the group.

The game has drawn parallels to the relationships between Akito & Toya and Arata & Souma since POU, with Toya outright quoting Kaito's statement from pou about their similarities in bdtw. Toya is able to relate to how Arata feels because their experiences with their partners are very similar. Akito and Souma are the ones who got Toya and Arata into the street music scene and shared their dreams with the other. Because of this similarity, Toya is able to put himself in Arata's shoes somewhat. I'm writing this very late so this is not clear what I'm getting at at all. Basically it's about partners. Toya is the best one to try and reason with Arata, and it's probably why this was his job given to him by Ken. R Sound Design says the song has a focus on relationships between the characters, so to say this will be a big part of the event is not a stretch at all.

And connecting to that: Toya (and Arata's) feelings about music. Toya's bdtw chapter also focused a lot on his feelings towards music, and how he'd grown to love it again thanks to Akito and VBS after his bad experiences with classical music as a child. Once again we're right back to the partners thing. Toya talks about his feelings towards music in woao as well, which also happens to be the event where Souma explains the story behind Gurney Flap's formation, and how he was able to get Arata to love music as much as he does. The key difference between Toya and Arata's stories though, is that Toya was able to move on from the past and his trauma. Toya seems to realise that Arata's past is affecting him in bdtw, and Taiga also pointed this out in lutf. While his relationship with his family is by no means mended, Toya was at least able to start healing with the help of his love of street music. On the other hand, Arata is very clearly still grieving the loss of Souma as his partner, and it's what's been holding him back this entire time. I could easily see Toya having a heart to heart with Arata in regards to their feelings towards music and their friends/partners. In a perfect world they do what they did in lutf where they explained a lot of the RADder backstory but for Gurney Flap this time, but I don't want to get attached to that idea. I think at the very least explaning what exactly happened to Souma could happen though.

Oh and on the off chance this ends up being An5, it'll be about her feelings towards Kohane. As in, her insecurities that have been showing up since Bout for Beside You about Kohane essentially becoming too good for her. Like with Toya this was heavily foreshadowed in her bdtw chapter and cards, as well as at the end of kiuan over a year ago. Combine An's grief over Nagi with her insecurities over Kohane and Kohane carrying Nagi's spirit in the sense of her singing, and you have an event story.

re: that other anon asking why people think roier doesn't live cellbit: I've noticed that at least the parts of this fandom I run in, monogamy is *really* the norm. Like, multishipping or even polyships just... aren't really considered. It's just "these two are in romantic love and therefore Cannot romantically love anyone else." And sure, jaiden and roier are platonically married but cellbit and roier aren't allowed to Romantically Love anyone else, I guess.

I understand what you’re saying, but I think the main backlash against all these new and fancy Roier Ships is that a lot of people legit see qRoier as a shipping tool. This goes all the way back to Spiderbear in March/April: people limited Roier down to his romantic intents with Spreen, and they ignored Jaiden. And then it happened again with Bad and Roier, people were only ever interested in their potential romantic relationship and not their blossoming friendship. I guess I’m gonna kinda try to explain the demisexual relationship with sex.

Obvs my experience is not everyone’s.

But sex is this really sacred thing to me, okay? I can’t do casual sex because I think I will literally cry afterwards. The idea of being used for sex is horrifying to me because if I am getting that intimate with someone, it’s because I really trust them. If they have sex with me, just to abandon me afterwards I think that will be incredibly traumatizing for me.

In mainstream culture, while sex is all over the place, so is casual sex. More importantly, they make casual sex out to be a norm, a game, or even a conquest. It was normal to manipulate a girl psychologically and emotionally to get them into bed, only to call them “crazy” when they are still vying for the attention of the person you pretended to be.

Once, I had to tell my sister that it is manipulation. Idc if “that is how guys are.” Manipulation is manipulation.

All that stuff - Kama sutra, sacred sex, whatever - is stuff that would work for me as demisexual because it treats sex as this sacred, spiritual act instead of just a fun romp in the sheets. And yet somehow people look at ME like I am weird because I don’t want to have sex with some jerk on the second date.

I think that middle grade books tend to have more complexities to them first of all because there's less publisher focus on them, there was a YA boom not a middle grade boom so they're not as... squished into a money-making formula. And secondly because there's a lot less romantic plotlines "allowed" in middle-grade books, romantic subplots aren't inherently bad but they're a lot more likely to be forced into a book that doesn't need or want them because they "boost engagement" or be written by people who don't want to be writing because Love Triangles Sell. Middle grade books can't have the sort of "heaving muscles, sexy body, no/awful personality but I just Want Them" thing that can kind of absorb a book's interesting aspects and devour them, it's not safe for the kids!

Also middle grade worldbuilding might not always have pressure to make sense because it's "just for kids" but it's more likely to try and get exciting or weird or fantastical with it because it's For Kids, so people who have an interest in a world they're writing might have more freedom to do what they want with it leading to more novelty if not universally higher quality.

I think the romance thing is part of it.

I think this is evidence that the way romance is treated in "teen" novels has a ripple effect on every level of the web of character relationships and interactions in a YA novel.

In a "teen" novel, other characters the MC's age are almost always being courted by the narrative as potential love interests. This can starve the book of other character interactions through pure overcrowding.

"Love triangles" were common throughout the YA boom, and I'm convinced it's partly because it's a money-making strategy. Manufacturing a "ship war" is a way to get people to talk about your book even if there is really nothing there worth discussing. I've seen small fandoms have a sudden explosion in activity after a "love triangle" plot was introduced.

But a triangle needs three points, and a "love triangle" means you need to devote a lot of "page time" to the romantic subplots because...you have to develop at least two love interests. There are many YA novels that have the MC torn between more than two possible love interests.

This got even worse when multiple POV's became the norm in YA, because then multiple MC's needed to be "paired up." So you had books where the MC's were romantically involved with each other and also each had something going on with another character, or books where EVERY POV character was paired with another POV character.

For one thing, this crowds out other character interactions just because there's limited space in a book.

For another thing, it's almost always bad when every character in a book is either a POV, a love interest, or both, because mains and love interests are virtually always the least interesting characters in the story.

The protagonist has to be "relatable" above all else, and love interests in YA are unbearably generic and stripped of all unique qualities. Part of it is the "attractiveness" requirement; there is only one "attractive" body type (thin with muscles) from this point of view, and in general "hot" means such a narrow selection of things that all you can ultimately do is shuffle hair, eye and skin colors. And they rarely ever have distinct personalities. They're just kinda angry and broody but also protective but also angsty. Or they're just generically nice.

(You also almost always can't have them be nonhuman in any meaningful way, because, idk, that would be Weird I guess.)

So...you don't have enough characters that are fucked-up weird gremlins. When your story is dominated by a huge love polygon that somehow involves 5 people, none of those characters get to be ugly, and that can be devastating.

Middle grade characters have to be interesting, not so much attractive or relatable. So you have characters that are weird, gross and nasty. You can have things like sentient kitchen appliances or telepathic Pegasi as important characters because you don't have to spend so much story RAM on characters that are acceptably hot. You can have scrungly trolls and giants with hairy nostrils and warts. You can have all your characters be cats.

Regarding Utena, I wouldn't use the phrase "sleeping with each other" when most of the sex is outright abuse.

For example, Utena and Anthy are 14 years old, and cannot consent to having sex with Akio, so saying they're just "sleeping with" him frames the issue as if it was consensual and an active choice on their part.

Ah I wasn't just talking about Utena and Anthy. Akio also slept with Kanae (and Touga... I think) Shiori slept with Touga. Touga actually slept with everyone in school. Our main three sibling groups in the show, Akio & Anthy, Touga & Nanami, Kozue & Miki were all incestuous. So that statement was just an overall. Pretty much every relationship in this anime is heavily messed up in some way

Forgive me, I haven't watched Utena in a very long while, so there are some things I totally forgot about, but from my memory, the love square was insane. Utena started dating(?????) Akio, and then found out he was sleeping with Anthy, and then the two of them seem to passive-aggressively fight over him briefly?? This show is absolutely beautiful and started off with a somewhat clear story. A tomboyish girl named Utena joins a strange magical fight club at school for the hand of Anthy. Anthy is maybe under some kind of spell to serve whoever she is betrothed to. Utena doesn't seem to get it, and really only wants to fight for Anthy's freedom and happiness. After living together, the two become good friends and maybe even start to fall in love. Utena loses at one point and falls into a depression, dressing up like a girl again, doubtful and insecure about herself, only to make a comeback. There's a mysterious prince who descends from the heavens to grant her power through the sword she pulls from Anthy's heart. That castle could be real magic, from another realm, or just from her imagination from the prince who saved her as a child- (sike!!! its a projection in the sky?????? guess what, everything is fake!! ??? ....except for the swords pulled out of peoples hearts. Those are real, somehow.)

But yeah once Akio is introduced the show quickly devolves from "Magical LGBTQ+ highschool girl challenges gender roles and relationship norms, saving a princess in the process and falls in love with her," to backtracking, incest, sex, sexual abuse, weird comic relief, manipulations, illusions where everything isn't real yet at the same time it is, shirtless men, driving cars, dead people, etc. The bitter-sweet confusing ending where Anthy is finally free but at the expense of Utena, who in the end realized she could never be a prince, apologizing in despair at her failure, pierced with thousands of swords in Anthy's place...

It still has an interesting aspect parallel of Anthy, a princess, sacrificing herself for a prince who in the end becomes a corrupt shadow of himself. Vs. Utena, a princess acting as a prince, sacrifices herself for the princess who was a shadow of herself to free her. The fact that the thing that saved her all those years ago was her want to save Anthy was really poetic.

Like there's a lot of metaphors to be found here, really beautiful, surreal amazing ones, but in my head I can only see it as a horrific confusing tragedy. But the cliffhanger is like "Utena is out there somewhere in another universe! I'm gonna go travel to find her : ) " how and why did that happen and where on earth did she go-

(I don't know how to associate the movie with the anime because those feel like two completely different universes and probably are.) The show mid to 3 quarters of the way went absolutely bonkers. I feel like it kinda lost sight of where it was trying to go for a while. The ending was truly beautiful, but it was so odd due to prior inconsistencies in the story. You couldn't tell what was actually real or not, or how things came to be or why. And things that happened before, like all the sexual abuse is never addressed or brought up again. And it acts like the ending is happy, like there's hope for Utena and Anthy, but it just feels like nothing was really resolved. Anthy leaves the school, which, you know, good for her, her freedom was the point of the anime, it was what Utena was working towards her whole life, even if she didn't remember. But I don't know if she was well and truly saved if Utena was now in her place. Feels like they're just gonna go in a loop. Doomed by the narrative when the narrative itself doesn't really acknowledge that. I just got a "Don't try to be something you're not because you'll succeed but at your own demise" kind of moral from it, which felt like a loss rather than a win when it came to the gender role commentary.

Polyamory in lore olympus

okay! so you know how I'm a desperate bitch for poly rep... guess I needed to add the word good in front of that cause this shit isn't it.

So one thing that I just need to say.. is I'm confused where the fuck rs is doing her research, cause a polyamorous 'pod' isn't a very common term and has the exact same meaning as polycule. Cause rs has proven to not be one to actually do alot of research, so it feels weird that she used a term like that.

Now another thing is that Poseidon wasn't polyamorous before... I could only really find two thing that point towards that. The first being a joke about him looking a second wife.. which in context is clearly just him using it to edge on hades... and it's never mentioned again.

That and the end of season 2, with the one panel of a bunch of people including Amphitrite hugging Poseidon... I assumed this was just his children. I really don't dislike Poseidon being poly I think it could've been really good rep but rs either did have him being poly since the beginning and just never actually put any thought or time into saying it... or added it after the fact to lampshade and earn more points for being inclusive.

You know what.. it may be the first... but given that we have Persephone saying the identical line as leuce.. and Hades just.. didn't correct her? like come on hades I know your a horny fucker but also Poseidon is now someone whos being actively bigoted against whenever someone saying he's a cheater.. and you don't stand up for him if the person is making you horny? Also it just retroactively makes all the bitching that hades does about his brother cheating gross... cause hades is now basically blaming Poseidon for how OTHER people wrongfully view his poly relationships.

Now something that just really piss me off.. is that this is being confirmed by hades just saying he's poly.. besides one panel of him hugging his partners, we haven't actually seen him being polyamorous. Why was does he still only have one wife, why haven't we seen any of these other partners... and why aren't we learning this from Poseidon himself.

It just... annoys me, am I supposed to applaud at the fact that hades said the word polyamous? We just have Poseidon, Amphitrite and then bunch of nameless and basically faceless people... it just feels so half assed. You just had a wedding scenes.. have Poseidon and his partners be together during that.. have him mention his partners while they did the dumb best man bit. Like have us learn that Poseidon picked hades as his best man over zeus multiple times.. that would be a sort of funny way to learn about it.

Just a little bit more... it wouldn't be that difficult. It really fucking hurt when you have like four separate hetero-normative monogamous relationships that you give so much time and thought into but any level of queer relationship is completely fucking ignored. It's so fucking clear that these are just here to make this comic look more progressive when it just fucking isn't.

Like rs you went out of your way to make Athena and Hestia gay and then just never actually did anything with it... And now Poseidon is the same. You have multiple kinda unnecessary chapters learning about how Aphrodite and Hephaestus got together just so we can have the name drop of Kassandra really... But you don't have at least one chapter actually about either of the queer relationships in this comic.

Also I just think it's important to talk about Zeus with this. I've seen alot of fans say that Zeus is polyamorous because hes a serial cheater.. which is just a wonderful unproblematic stereotype/s. While I don't see as much of that directed at poseiden... he's very much repeatedly labeled as a cheater by the story, so again either rs planned for him to be a poly character and decided it would be... funny? if he was unchallengedly called a cheater repeatedly.. or again Rs retroactively made all the characters that call him a cheater just assholes and also decided it would be best to pick a cheater to be the polyam character.

This really just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, cause polyamorous people have so little representation and most of it is pretty shitty or stereotypical and lore olympus a story so focused on monogamous romances had a great chance to actually make something good... christ one chapter of just Poseiden and his relationship could be enough to make it good. Instead we have a character repeatedly labeled a cheater and then have someone else tell us he's actually poly.

so I got some interest on this post where I tossed out that I wanted to talk more about monster romance and race and gender. it's been really nice to see a few folks are also wanting to hear/talk about it! I'm not prepared to say anything at length [eta: this turned out to be kind of a lie] with any certainty or research to back me up, but I thought I could post a rough outline of sorts of what I'd want to research and explore further, just as a starting point for myself but also a jumping off point if anyone else has any thoughts or resources.

I guess I'll start with gender first. I'm new to the romance genre generally, but I don't think it's a surprise that the genre has always been dominated by discourse around who reads romance and the kind of gender dynamics presented in a lot of conventional romance books (which are generally heterosexual/heteronormative in a lot of problematic ways). I'm thinking of the harlequin romances my mom and grandma used to read, but also of the discussions around colleen hoover's work and then the dark romance sub-genre too.

this means that there's the obvi discussion to be had about content vs. context. who is writing the romance, what informs their writing, what messaging comes through via choices made by the author, as well as by the context the author is writing in. I'm sure if you've been reading romance--even fanfic--for a while, you're well versed in some of these conversations, even if just in a casual way.

after considering romance on a macro level, I think you'd then have to look at some of those more micro sub-genres. where are gender norms accentuated and exaggerated, and to what end? why is dark romance a thing, why do (usually) straight white women want to fantasize about being in that kind of relationship? what's the purpose being met? (this is all asked non-judgmentally, btw, as I also enjoy dark romance.)

and maybe there are folks who would dislike my comparing of monster romance to dark romance, but I do think the two are related, especially based on a lot of posts I've seen since joining this corner of tumblr. I think there's a lot of interest in exploring ideas around control and dominance that dark romance and monster romance provide contained space for. if you watched my YouTube video, I touch on this a little bit more at the end as well.

I'm sure I'm missing a lot re: gender (like all the stories being told about lgbtq+ MCs), but this is just some initial thoughts at the fore of my brain.

as for race...........well. lol.

there's the very surface level question around what percentage of monster romance FMCs are white. I genuinely don't have this answer, and I know there are a lot of nonwhite FMCs too! but I'd be really curious to know the actual numbers here. why? well, bc diversity matters. but also because of the decades long narratives around white women as victims of men of color, and how that narrative has been used to weaponize whiteness and demonize blackness specifically, and non-whiteness more generally.

I am def not saying that all monster MMCs = depictions of non-whiteness, I'm just thinking about the connections between equating non-white people/bodies with monstrosity. I'm thinking of the historical framing of non-white people and communities as sub-human, as savages, as beastly. inhumane. monsters have kinda always been a metaphor for the other, including the non-white other, and I think it'd be naive of us to assume that vestiges of that brand of racism (which is still alive and well) never inform the ways creators engage with monster romance and monsterfucking, consciously AND unconsciously.

I'm also thinking about orientalism. I'm thinking of the exotification and classification of the east. the way westerners invaded the eastern world and began treating the people there like specimens. I'm thinking about how othering and abjecting and exotifying a culture or community or person can create a power-informed version of sexualizing that culture or community or person. like, othering/abjecting/exotifying can lead to creating a perverted sort of desiring. I have a special interest here because I'm arab, so this stuff feels particularly personal, but yeah. it makes my wheels turn.

there's also a dehumanizing element of turning an othered body into a piece of sexual meat. I'm thinking about the way monsters in these books are always excessive, the way their penises are always massive. we can't pretend that doesn't seem a little familiar to the degrading ways white people have also discussed black bodies, too. like. I'm not saying wanting our monsters to have big dicks is racist, I'm just saying there are some aspects of the genre that I think deserve to be ~unpacked~ and considered in a wider context that takes this kind of stuff into account. not as a confirmed given, but as an avenue worth approaching with curiosity, if only to point out the ways in which it's NOT a product of racism/anti-blackness.

obvi this post is not backed up at present with a single source because I'm just thinking out loud based on stuff I've read previously over the years that I definitely would need to revisit, so I totally get if you read this and think I'm being ridiculous. but if you saw my first post and were kinda wondering what I had in mind when making it, this is it.

Okay, you know what? Let me talk about this. Because it really irks me. Like, it really irks me. I cannot express how much it irks me, to be honest.

I love BG3. And BG3 is doing a lot of stuff right when it comes to queer representation. Not so much in regards to any other form of representation (How is it that there is only one none-white character among your teammates? Why is there literally no body diversity at all? Why is there no fucking combat wheelchair?), but on terms of queer rep the game is doing very good. I mean, literally, most canonical relationships you interact with are queer. You meet a lot more happy queer couples than happy straight couples. Which is nice. And while I could've done with maybe one canonical trans character, you can at least play your player character as trans, which is fucking nice. So yeah, we are getting there.

But for heaven's sake, I will never, ever see player-sexual characters as bi/pan representation. Because they are not. Their universal sexual attraction serves not to define them as characters in their identity, but just for the player to fulfill their own power fantasy in whatever way the player desires. The fact that the characters do not care about what gender the player character has, is not really tied to the character or their story.

Which is why I like it so much more the way that Bioware did it with Dragon Age: Inquisition and some of the later Mass Effect games (is this true for Starfield as well? I have no idea). Where the characters do have a canon sexuality that influences who you can romance and who you cannot romance.

Like, I am in general not a big fan of the Dragon Age games, with the exception of Inquisition, because boy, I got invested into those characters and part of the reason is this. Like, holy hell, I cannot explain to you how invested I got into Dorian and his entire story. Like, back then I was still in egg-mode and I played the game with a female character - but I then did a second playthrough with a male PC just so I could romance Dorian.

Their sexuality is tied to who they are as people.

And sure, yeah, fine. Basically BG3 goes about sexuality in the way of: "The world does not care about it, so neither should you." Like, there is so many queer couples, some have kids that might be their biological kids, because magic, I guess, and nobody really bats an eye. So, I guess something like with Dorian, where part of his story was dealing with a homophobic dad would not happen here. Still, you know, with their supposed bisexuality not playing any role at all, it feels... hollow.

Because it does really feel like this part of them only exists for the player - not as part of their characterization. And I would feel a lot better about it, if it was.

I think it feels partly so offensive to me, because I am a bisexual trans dude and lived as a bi woman for so long. And as that my bisexuality has often been seen by men as something that they can consume in one way or another to act out their personal fantasies. So, player-sexuality/bisexuality in games being used for the player to act out that kinda fantasy feels... wrong.

How could Larian have done it or do it in future games? Well, pretty simple.

Bring in former relationships of different genders, let the characters comment on finding other characters (both in your party and out of it) attractive, allow the non-romanced characters to hook up together or hook up with other NPCs. Make their sexuality part of their story.

I totally would be fine with the characters all being bisexual. Sure, its a bit boring, but I also totally could buy into "in this world bisexuality/pansexuality is the norm" as part of the worldbuilding. But then show it through their interactions outside of being willing/able to hook up with the player character.

Though admittedly, this is in general one of my biggest issue with the writing on the game: Rather than having the characters talk with each other about stuff (outside of the idle banter in your party), they talk to the player character about how they feel about each other. You know, I have seen a lot of comments about how the ending feels unrewarding because apparently (I am closing in on the ending, but I am not quite there yet) after everything is said and done everybody just goes their own way, not acknowledging each other at all. But I think it is a problem in general.

Like, I get that each scene in which the characters interact more significantly than awkwardly standing in front of each other is a ton of work, because you gotta motion capture it - and also rendering it on the system make the workload on the hardware you are using a lot bigger... But it definitely would help the characterization.

To come back to Dragon Age: Inquisition (look, it is the one game I played that worked a lot with this), I had a general feeling for how the other characters related to each other, like, what their relationships were like. I knew how Cassandra felt about Solas and Varric. Or Sera about Cole. Sure, not all character relations were as well defined, but there was a lot happening there. Which here... I mean, I know how Shadowheart and Lae'zel see each other and how that evolves over time. I know how Karlach and Wyll feel about each other. But for example, there is never a scene where Karlach and Astarion argue with each other, even though they are moral-wise fundamentally opposed and probably would argue. Like, when you learn about the ritual and Astarion goes like "I totally should do it!", none of the other characters has an opinion on him planning that, let alone confronts him about it. Or where Gale gets annoyed with Karlach's approach to solving problems by just beating her axe at the problem. Or, like, Halsin and Janeira hanging out with each other, talking about druid stuff. Because outside of single cutscenes and the idle banter, the characters just do not interact a whole lot.

And I think that is a shame. Because they are already fun, engaging characters. But they totally would be more fun and engaging if they had a life outside of their backstory and their relationship to the player character. (And mind you, if you play an Origin playsthrough this does not change, because whatever character you play, still is the player character.)

Allow them friendships and romances outside of the player character. And be it just by having them awkwardly stand together and talk in front of the same tent at camp from time to time. lol

When you have that, their sexuality also would feel real - and not just like a device to propell the player's power fantasy.

Also, for fucks sake, just give us some aroace characters. Q-Q

Inner mongolia headcanons? :3

He seems somewhat spacey if that's the right word? Like his mind is often thinking about something else

Also I think his name would be Batbold 🐱 I think Baatar (Mongolia) and Batbold (Inner Mongolia) sound cute together LZKQAK

Because many different ethnic groups live within him (I mean, he's straight up outnumbered by Han Chinese), he is more sensitive of other people's cultural norms to say the least compared to his brother in the North. Also has a better alarm for what not to say out loud

Wears his hair in two braids, has a bit of facial hair. I'd like to think he's around the same height as Mongolia, if not slightly shorter?

He tolerates Manchuria better than Mongolia does seeing as they live so close together and there are many Manchurians living in Inner Mongolia. What would really annoy Mongolia would probably only illicit a sigh from him.

On Manchuria again: They sort of have a weird relationship. For Mongolia, it's easy for him to dislike Manchuria or to be easily annoyed by Manchuria. But for Inner Mongolia, because both of them live under China , he came to the conclusion that there's really no point spending time on being angry at him all the time when they're kinda in the same boat now.

That doesn't mean that he doesn't get passive aggressive or annoyed towards Manchuria at times or has completely let go of his feelings towards what happened but Manchuria isn't exactly a threat to him anymore and if anything, is in a worse position than he is, so.

So yes. That combined with the Manchurian population in Inner Mongolia means that inner Mongolia does in fact invite him over for celebrations and trips and whatnot (Northerner solidarity finally real?).

Even if this annoys Mongolia when he comes over and visits. He finds it kind of funny anyways

Touching back on a previous point: I see inner Mongolia being a brother to Mongolia rather than being his like, child or something. This is because inner Mongolia was originally Southern Mongolia and a distinction between Northern and Southern Mongolia was only really prevalent during I guess the late 16th century or even mid during Ligdan Khan's reign?

Inner Mongolia (previously Southern Mongolia) was colonised by the Qing (Manchuria 🐱) in 1636 and Outer Mongolia (Mongolia) joined a few decades later in 1691

Between Northern and Southern/Inner Mongolia, there were some differences in the ruling families and Mongolic peoples populating each. This is kind of complicated but outer Mongolia (iirc) consisted of mainly Khalkha, Buryat, Uriankhai (umbrella term for the likes of Tuvans) groups and Inner Mongolia also had Khalkha and also Tumet and Chahar Mongol groups. There are a number of other Tumens/factions that are a part of this shitshow but I'm simplifying it for now

Despite these differences, this did not make Northern and Southern Mongolia two different entities. At least for a while

These groups, such as the Khalkha and Chahar, were Chinggisid (Genghisid), so of/loyal to the Chinggisid royal bloodline. It was under Dayan Khan that these groups were reunited after defeating the Oirats, and it was established that they were a Chinggisid people once more.

It was a strict rule in Mongolia that only those of the Chinggisid line could be Khan. Side note: the rule of Chinggisid leaders only being legitimate was so widespread throughout Central Asia which is why Timur of the Timurid Empire wanted to prove that he was Chinggisid so much, and even married a woman who was a descendant of Chagatay Khan (one of his sons).

Because of this Chinggisid heritage ordeal iirc this is why the Qing carefully planned intermarriages with inner Mongolian ruling groups so they could, in some convoluted way, claim legitimacy. Inner Mongolian nobles married with Manchurian nobles pretty extensively

So yes relationship with Manchuria can be kinda weird considering this past LMAO but he tolerates him now because. Same boat™

I make his birth date being in the late-ish 16th century because there already was a difference in the kind of factions inhabiting inner and outer Mongolia but I don't want to make him be born too early as that might be seem as legitimising Qing Imperialism/ legitimising Inner Mongolia being separated from Mongolia.

As stated previously, the difference between them can be seen in Ligdan Khan's reign. The Khalkha and Oirat factions by the early/mid 17th century were already going against Ligdan's rule, and he really only had the Chahar Mongol faction on his side

Inner Mongolia was officially annexed to the Qing in 1636 after Ligdan Khan died. His son, Ejei, was the final ruler of the Northern Yuan dynasty (Mongolia - he was coping and seething with the Yuan ending so called his territory the "Northern Yuan" lol) before the Qing finally put an end to it when Ejei was defeated in a surprise attack in 1635 and subsequently handed over the Northern Yuan imperial seal to the Qing, which was the first step to legitimising their rule before the extensive intermarriage with inner Mongolian nobility.

Inner/Southern Mongolia was the first to be annexed, Northern Mongolia held on for a bit longer but ultimately fell to the Qing too.

This (1) of the many reasons why Mongolia has a huge complex about inner Mongolia and what went down because uh. It's used to justify "Inner Mongolia is the real Mongolia" rhetoric

Because of this Mongolia is extremely fussy over inner Mongolia which does kind of annoy the latter

Once inner Mongolia and the Imperial seal was taken, this meant that the still independent Mongols in the North needed to find a new authority. Thus they turned to Tibetan Buddhism and established a new spiritual leader, Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, in 1639 (mfw tibmon real because Tibet helped Mongolia regain control of himself and a will to live once inner Mongolia was taken -)

But didn't last long lol as the Qing would install their own lamas into Mongolian monasteries so.

He is pretty chill on the surface, he's not very outwardly fussy about things and is pretty easy to talk to about whatever. Doesn't really involve himself in drama and whatnot

However he does have some. Deep seated complexes and problems that he never brings to the surface and are really hard to gage.

Mongolia however uh. Can sense them. I've already talked about this hc before but I think Mongolia has problems with anything to do with understanding mental health and doesn't show empathy easily but he's very different when it comes to inner Mongolia. He catches onto when he's upset or not feeling okay and like. Shows genuine concern.

I've said previously that Inner Mongolia gets kind of annoyed with Mongolia when Mongolia becomes too fussy about him... Mfw Inner Mongolia orders takeout for them in Mandarin when Mongolia visits and he looks up and Mongolia looks like he's seen a ghost -

I think sometimes they bicker about wrestling rules LMAO. Inner Mongolian and Outer Mongolian wrestling rules slightly differ. For example, in Inner Mongolia, you're not allowed to grab your opponents legs, whereas in outer Mongolia it's completely permissible.

Inner Mongolia also rubs in how much fancier inner Mongolian wrestling outfits are compared to outer Mongolian.

Mongolia in turn makes fun of the "Jangga" tradition in Inner Mongolia. In Inner Mongolian wrestling, some wrestlers wear a colourful ribbon necklace around their neck to signify that they're a good wrestler, as its often gained through winning many matches. But you can also acquire it if a retiring wrestler just decides to give it to you, regardless of your skill.

I think he has a good relationship with Daur. Many Daur live in Inner Mongolia and I see her being quite. Cheerful? So he likes being around her. She tries to teach him hockey :3

Really likes Uyghur food. I read that inner Mongolians often go to Uyghur restaurants when they eat out and take their (Outer) Mongolian friends there.

About Mr Uyghur again: I see them having a good bond. Love for lamb and wrestling etc lol some very similar interests but also it's a minzu to minzu thing and shared experiences of living under China.

Also because of the history between Uyghurs and Mongols but when it comes to overall history in particular, Uyghur is more familiar with Mongolia because well, he was around for longer lol

His and Mongolia's relationship isn't always good and there are definitely problems. In 1919 when China attempted to occupy outer Mongolia, a lot of the troops where Chahar Mongols from inner Mongolia 🤒

I also think inner Mongolia can get quite passive aggressive towards Mongolia when he's annoyed with him. Like the whole "well we retained our culture unlike you who uses the cyrillic script now instead of the original Mongol script"

Adding onto this and harking back to some points earlier, inner Mongolia does kind of have a superiority complex towards Mongolia because of the "Inner Mongolia is the real Mongolia" fiasco and Ejei Khan giving the Imperial seal to the Qing which lead to inner Mongolia being annexed etc etc and Northern/Outer Mongolia having to find a new authority to have a stabilised sense of identity again.

Also because he's simply a lot wealthier than Mongolia and I've heard that apparently some Mongols travel to inner Mongolia for certain healthcare?

Inner Mongolia also really. Dislikes it when Mongolia puts him on a pedestal and Mongolia often finds himself bitterly disappointed when he visits inner Mongolia and he does not act like the idealised version of himself he has in head🤒

Positive relationship with Tibet but kinda reels at how Mongolia and Tibet act around each other LMAO.

Ending on a more positive note, I think it's funny how it's inner Mongolia who goes around with facial hair and Mongolia who decides to be clean shaven lol
